At first we were a bit disappointed as the resort is really small with only a central small pool/area and the activities like pool, tennis table close at 7pm so in the evening except the daily evening activity/show there is nothing else to do. But after 2days or so you start to feel like home, the food is great (best I have ever had in an resort) the staff is super sweet, the beach has a reef so you can snorkel every day at low tide (your feet can still touch the ground and fishes are swimming around you!). As there is only one central main area with the pool the daily activities like games organized by the resort are all happening there so youre not going to be quiet by the pool there is very often music, laughter! But for adults only they have another dedicated pool with another lobby/bar which is amazing if you don't have kids!

We chose to be pampered by their Royal Service option and it did not disappoint. Upgraded room with ocean view in a spotless building. Access to an exclusive area of their wonderful beach ( with bala beds and padded loungers) where Aquino, David and team provided steady and impeccable friendly service. The beach is protected by a reef and is nestled in a bay so no issues with Sargassum or waves. The water was clear, clean, warm as a bathtub in June and one could spot some smaller fish amongst the rocks. Royal service has unlimited a la carte dinners which we enjoyed every night. Food was very good at all three and we were spoiled with upgraded wines included in the package. The buffet was very good but usually with a more limited variety.than some other AI's we have been to but quality was above average. We regularly took advantage of the Vintage club for mimosas and Spanish coffee in the morning and cocktails in the afternoon with upgraded ingredients.The staff at the Vintage lounge was friendly and service orientated. Pros - long, walkable, beautiful, clean beach. Consistently excellent service. High standard of cleanliness. Spacious bright room with modern air conditioning. Choice of two pools - one for families and a quiet pool for adults (except during high season).Well managed and safe. Cons - can be noisy and crowded during high season, door to balcony was stiff, limited outlets and hangers in the dated but super clean and freshly painted room,limited entertainment, no kleenex provided (byok),and the toilet paper was subpar (byotp). Not a party resort for the younger demographicalthough weekends can be noisy. Superior value and we are "hoping" to be back again every year for a week. As their slogan says, "Come as guests and return as family."

Food was good.Beds were not king as mentioned during booking , our kids room washroom was flooded with water, there was leak from somewhere from tub . Ceiling of their room was moulded and leaking. Everyday they took awhile to put back towels for bathroom. There was no snack bar if you feel hungry in between breakfast lunch dinner , you can just have drinks only.

Just got back from a week long vacation with my family. There were 7 of us. We loved that everything was close by. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The buffet and Al a carte restaurants were delicious. There was always a variety. The only negative was that you had to reserve chairs at the beach early in the morning to get an umbrella. They need more palapas.

Super friendly staff. Very well maintained. Great food, nothing fancy, but the basics are down pat. Grilled food, salads, diversity. Freshness. The soup du jour at the beach grill always interesting! I would have liked the hamburgers cooked. As a Canadian, I am more used to eat patties well done and nothing else… and that is the only thing I can come up with from a 10 days stay!!! Perfect!

The hotel was excellent—our room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The buffet and restaurants were fantastic, offering a wide variety of fresh food and drinks. Every day featured different meals, which made dining exciting throughout our stay.

We visited April 22-29. It was our third time to this hotel The room was very nice, perfect entertainment and we had fun. The quality of the food seemed to had gone down a bit from the last time we were there in 2023. I thought that the returning guests get a welcome back present ( we were given the special repeat guest bands) but that was it. I like it that this resort is small and compact and I would go back.

Trip Report May 15th to 29th Wow Being a Cuba vacationer for the past 3+ years we really took a gamble on VH Gran Ventana. Of course we did the homework, checked reviews and like resorts but thankfully settled on Gran Ventana. Prior to arriving I dropped Solange/Mr.Marcos an email indicating what area of the Catalina Building we would like and they came through for us 100% Club As we were going for 2 weeks, we selected the Royal Package which gave us some perks (Beach, Bar & Dining). I must say that we took good advantage of the package. Whether it be a la carte dining 12/14 nights, shaded lounger daily (no chair game stress), morning cappuccinos and nightcaps in the Vintage Club … oh and lest we forget bottles of champagne and booze for each week. I can’t thank the staff enough in the Vintage lounge Santa, Sujeidy and Ricardo et al. The one hiccup was they took care of the taxi reservation for a day … driver didn’t speak a lick of English other than “Yes”, this made it a challenge, but it didn’t ruin our day. Rooms Overall, the room we had 2115 was good. The cleaning staff kept it spotless and we had sufficient towels everyday. One day we needed face cloths, and the Santa/Sujeidy handled it well, as we didn’t go without for our stay. Beach Being a self diagnosed “Beach Bum” this was important to our trip. The beach was very wide lots of sand; the water was a bit limited as to how far in you can go without getting into coral/rocks etc. We always sat in the Superior/Royal section and had great service from Jose (Dirty Banana), Amable (Papa) as well as others. The only comment here is the vast number of people trying to sell you souvenirs etc. on the beach … 95% are no problem, but some are more persistent. Wind – not sure if it’s seasonal but the beach had a constant wind (right to left) which was great in the morning and early afternoon but kicked up a notch after 1ish. Food Like I said we dined exclusively at the a la carte Italian (Sempre de Mare?), Octopus and Beach Grill with two nights at the buffet (White Night). I must say after 3+ years going to Cuba the food was great! Breakfast was a steady dose of made to order eggs, bacon and fruit. Lunch was okay, but often we had fruit. General I did notice that the resort was open to locals on the weekends, but since we generally were on the beach and in a la carte we didn’t notice them as much. We found staff and management very approachable and genuinely happy. On site stores are crazy expensive (go to Jumbo) asking $7USD for a small box of Kleenex. Animation team did their best … people were able to participate if they wanted. Would we return or recommend Given the vast array of resorts/countries it’s nice to be able to find one or two that you know what to expect and fits your needs. So yes, we would return and recommend. Probably left out some stuff and may revisit to edit.

I always enjoy my stay at VH Gran Ventana, I believe this is my fifth time there, and each time is totally enjoyable. The food is always good and there is lots of it. The bartender at the pool,Andrea, is wonderful. She remembers all the people who were previously there before and treats them all like old friends.

Being at this resort for a week-long vacation (May 11 - 18) for a first time in Puerto Plata, here are some thoughts that I wanted to share so that you can plan your vacation. I've visited D.R. many times at 5-star resorts in Punta Cana and am curious about Puerto Plata. My selections were based on reviews from travelers who had been there for the last six months with some judgements towards unpleasant feedback. I chose Gran Ventana with the Tripcentral' agent's advice and am very satisfied with her recommendations. For 4-star resort, this place is amazing in terms of service, delicacies and beach. Room is outdated but kept clean (Air conditioning is working fine). Entertainment is limited as well as daily activities at the pool and beach. Overall is acceptable, and I would recommend it.

Hotel service was great, the bedroom very clean and comfortable, the food was great and the beach was just beatifull! Service staff was very kind and helpfull. Flights was on time and also very kind staff! Please keep up the good service. We will be back.

It was our first time at VH Gran Ventana and definitely will not be our last! The beach is crystal clear with beautiful tropical fish swimming around us. The food is absolutely superb! The rooms could do with an update, but on an all inclusive you don’t spend much time in your room anyhow! Our maid did an excellent job everyday, we never needed any towels and our mini fridge was well stocked. Staff are warm, friendly and really make you feel welcome! Andrea at the pool lounge bar makes the best iced coffee! One small improvement would be to add more umbrellas to the pool and beach areas.We are already planning to return next year!

I did like the resort. Everything close by. Rooms clean but outdated. Beautiful beach. Food plentiful and lots of variety. What did ruin the Damien our trip was that during the week the hotel has cruise ship people coming in anywhere between 30-100 people almost daily. Also no entertainment between 1130-330. Then very little. On the weekends the locals come in which is fine but they do seem to take over everything. We were unable to even get a chair with shade. Pool was like a can of sardines. No one anywhere gives out this information. The staff are amazing and friendly and hardworking. Tip well and you will get even better service and attention. We had the premium package and yet the locals were the ones being catered too. I would not return to this resort as I prefer adults only. Seemed great for families.

This was our second time at this resort and very disappointed. As a premium package holder that was fine never had issues with chairs at the beach the staff there was amazing. Rooms were fine but yes need upgrades. Food was great. The Italian à la carte was very disappointing we were totally ignored. We waited 1/2 hours between dishes and ppl that came after us were served and done before we got our main course. This resort now lets in cruise ship passengers and it gets over crowded also the locals and the paying guest are now over seen. The entertainment needs a lot of work there is no excitement in the staff. There is no music playing and they don’t allow speakers so the atmosphere is boring. They also could use more umbrellas around the deck. Overall I would not return.

Having never been to the Dominican before, I only had Cuba and Mexico to compare this trip to. At first we were a bit worried the resort was small, but that quickly became one of the biggest pros. It was so easy to get anywhere you wanted whenever you felt like it. The beach is steps from the pool, and the bars are scattered throughout the resort so you’re never far from a quick beverage. The drinks were great, with Jackie’s Special becoming our go-to all week. I heard about the Ernesto Special on our last day and apparently it’s amazing, but unfortunately I never caught him to try one! The staff generally seemed friendly and always smiled or said good morning/hello, although there can definitely be a bit of a language barrier if you don’t speak Spanish. A few times we would ask for something and they just didn’t understand us (or vice versa). The resort itself was very clean though, with staff constantly around picking up cups and cleaning. Food was great overall and we never had any issues finding something to eat. Worst case scenario, the pasta station at the buffet always saved the day ? We tried the Italian à la carte and it was okay, but we absolutely loved the Ocean Grill. Both the food and the service were incredible and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The “chair wars” around the pool were basically non-existent while we were there. We’re early risers, so we’d grab a coffee and sit by the pool around 7am with almost every chair still empty. One thing to note though: security does come around, so if you leave anything unattended, be prepared to lose it. We didn’t spend much time sitting at the beach because the chairs are pretty close together and while there are some shady spots, they go quickly. One of the nicest parts of the trip was how friendly the other guests were. It was really easy to make friends and chat with people throughout the week. Depending on what you’re looking for, this isn’t really a big nighttime party resort (at least not during our stay.) The first couple nights were busier, but by the third night the music was ending early because hardly anyone was there. Honestly, we go to bed early anyway, so it was perfectly fine with us! We didn’t upgrade to premium, so our room was a little outdated, but the air conditioning worked great. We were on the first floor right in front of the pool and loved the location; honestly wouldn’t change it. We had requested to be close to our friends and we were right next door! My biggest complaint would probably be that the buffet (or resort in general) doesn’t really have any common air-conditioned areas. Eating in the hot, humid air was tough sometimes, and our room was really the only place to fully cool off from the heat. The weather last week was unbeatable, although VERY hot for this time of year. At the end of the day, the most important question: would we return? Absolutely.

We had a wonderful trip, all staff were wonderful. Clean rooms very good service. Beach was awesome the only thing don't like is people selling things on beach your trying to rest.This was our second time and we noticed the zeroes a lot better this year Thanku

This was a great resort. The Beach was great, the pool was great as well. There were only a couple days at the beach where it was hard to find a chair. Limited shade available both at the beach and the pool. The hotel and resort grounds were very well kept. If you like quiet at night don't get a room that faces the pool or close to the swim up bar. People were up past midnight yelling and hollering. The rooms could use a dresser as there was not much to put your clothes away in. The food at the buffet and the restaurants were pretty good. The staff were an great. All in all I would definitely go back.

We like the hotel The people . The Shows every night , the service and the food selections We really enjoy the Puerto Plata excursions. I will recommend the hotel to my friends and relatives. Andy the tour guide is very resourceful.

The hotel was very clean and the grounds were nicely kept.checkin was very easy and the line up moved smoothly.The buffet was excellent and the overall pool area was great. The room was very clean but somewhat a little dated but that didn't mean much for me. We went there to play golf and after our golf round which was roughly 2:00 upon returning to our room we had no towels to shower and had to chase down the maids for towels and that was pretty much each day. The overall experience was very good the food and the hotel were really nice however the friendliness of the service behind the bars and in general the people working there was poor. Not friendly at all never smiled or talked. I was not impressed with the attitude at all. At the golf course I can't believe how RUDE the employees were to us. I would not go there again to golf.

Just to start off I have been to this resort 4 times and this last one was ok. I travelled with 3 friends on a golf and relaxing vacation and we picked this resort due my recommendation. The resort itself has not changed and it is very clean and the grounds were beautiful once again. All of us raved about the food and we did not go hungry. The one thing we all liked was that it is a small resort and easy to walk anywhere around the grounds. The pools are well maintained and no issues with cleanliness. Our room was looked after and very clean and we had no issue with anything in room. We ate at all 3 al a carte's and all were very good. The buffet food was very good as well and well stocked and again no issue with it. Now lets get to the workers. The buffet waiters were ok but not one would say good morning or hello upon arrival. The lady at front as you walk in was the only one who smiled. When we finished and we left our tip on the table as we all did each meal they would almost push you out of the way to get the money and it seemed like a free fall to get it. I told one server the money wasn't going anywhere. The theme for resort is not to smile and ignore any questions. I went up to take my towel back the night before to get my card so I could check out and all I got was no "cards'. I asked how would I be able to check out and I got a shrug of shoulders. Took my towel when I checked out to front and the person really wasn't happy with it. There wasn't one smile on any of the front receptions and if you asked a question it was if I was bothering them even when there was no one around. If you think the resort people are not friendly don't go to golf course. We have travelled for the past 4 year golfing and at Playa Dorado Golf Course they were so rude and unfriendly that we would not go back there but that will be in another review. Overall I still like this resort but a more friendly vibe would be nice and just a hello goes along way.

Loved the layout of this resort.My criticisms would be:1) no handrails on stairs in lobby etc.2)No ramps on 2 steps getting the luggage to the main lobby area.. only one ramp in one area, and no Porter available.3) Slippery floors,as maids washing them many times during the day.4)Resort not equipped with safety features that would prevent falls or accidents for Seniors and guests with limited mobility. 5)A bigger main lobby washroom needed with more stalls.Always a lineup during mealtimes and early afternoons.Usually only 2 stalls working,as 1 toilet always plugged.6) Need a full length mirror on wall in rooms.7) Air conditioning too" cold".Everything damp in the room and in our suitcases.Difficult to sleep,as air conditioning was too "loud,"as well.Roommate got a bad cold and sick upon return to Canada.Safety should be a priority, as most guests were seniors with disabilities.Thank you.

We would struggle coming up with anything negative about this resort! They staff are pleasant and ALWAYS working to help your stay be the best it can be! It is so clean and even after a rain storm, the place was back to impeccable in no time at all! Food is great as well!

As always we had a fantastic time . The resort was at full capacity because of Cuba but the experience was the same. The staff were awesome especially the very friendly Rosa, Raul always trying his best to get us a table and Luis the beach bae bartender . Rooms smelled cleaned after the maid left , no issues with hot water or towels. Food was great . Only downfall was beach towels replacements and need more chairs and umbrellas especially at beach and pool. We will be back again to our home away from away back to family . Highly recommend (not a party place but to relax)

We stayed at the Grand Ventana and was a holiday my wife and I Susie, will never forget. The Food was top notch. The Staff always greeted us with a smile and kindness. We loved our early morning walks along the beach, and my wife loved the pools and never wanted to get out. Will recommend this resort and will defiantly come back to the same resort when we return.

We have visited three times and plan to return next year with our extended family. The staff are amazing, the food is excellent, the beach and pool are clean, and we meet lots of Canadian travelers every year.

The rooms in buildings 1 and 2 are closer to the beach and the main pool. Building 3 is not so convenient. The resort needs a refresh. The lobby is too close to theatre (too noisy). The entertainment is poor.

We stayed in this resort for seven days! It was an amazing experience, and we will be back to this resort for sure. Rooms were clean, and the buffet and restaurants served great food. The staff are friendly and nice. The beach is clean, water is warm. Highly recommended!!!

Stayed at the Gran Ventana March 24-31 in the Sanoa building room 1342. We upgraded to the Royal package and would definitely recommend. The Vintage Lounge is amazing, the best part of the beach is reserved for those with Premium and Royal upgrades and we enjoy going to à la cartes every night. The beach was extremely clean, some coral in places but you could still get in the water easily. The rooms are basic but clean, food was good, service was good everywhere except at peak times at the buffet was slow as resort was full. The resort is small but this means everything is close. The Beata building feels outside the resort as it is on the other side of the lobby, some people prefer this quieter area but we preferred the Sanoa or Catalina buildings which are closer to the beach and were also quiet unless facing the pool in the daytime. Daily yoga was a bonus, didn’t try other activities. We found most travellers were from Canada, the staff seemed happy to be working there and were always helpful, tips or not. We don’t generally return to resorts but we can see why GV has so many repeat customers and we would consider it for the a future trip!

This resort is a smaller size in comparison to previous ones I have visited! This is not a negative for me as it was less chaotic and more relaxing despite being fully booked! Food was great with lots of options. Resort was clean, well organized and had all amenities needed for a great vacation including a friendly, helpful staff!

Gran Ventana was Awesome!! My third time visiting this resort. The staff are so friendly and kind. The food was awesome…..we did the buffet most nights but did an a la carte one night…the food at both was great. Lots of variety and delicious….so clean…Nothing but great to say about this resort…10/10….Can’t wait to go back!

The hotel is dated but very clean. We had no issues with hot water for showers and everything in the room worked well. Our room was near the entertainment so in the evening it was very loud until 11:30pm. This was our only complaint and if we were to return we would absolutely ask for a quiet room. Purchasing the premium level upgrade is an absolute must. The beach chair area, private lounge and other upgrades make the cost well worth the bit extra you pay. The food was consistently good and we enjoyed the 3 Al a carte restaurants as well as the buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tipping is not expected but appreciated. We loved the beach. Did not use the pools.

I think the 4 star rating is a stretch but we did enjoyed our stay, this despite the room being quite awful. We walked into a flood on the floor from the bar fridge (a very rusted fridge), no coffee maker & a safe key that didn't work. The pool area was nice but on one day a large group of people from a cruise ship arrived causing over crowding, it also caused delays in the dinning area. Towels were a problem in both the room & at the pool, with long enough delays that I doubt they have sufficient stock of both sorts. The food was fine but always had long line ups, to book for one of the featured restaurants you had to join a long line at 8am to try and book for the following two evenings. We would not go back.

This resort is old and dated and could really use some updating. I have never encountered resort staff that cared less about their job. We travelled in a group with 4 rooms we asked that our rooms be close together which we know is not guaranteed. The rooms were not close together and we were told that trip central lied to us and that nothing on our booking said we wanted rooms together. When I showed them proof that it was requested they said “well it’s not guaranteed” when I inquired about moving rooms around we were told that there was no way they could do that. Which is fine if that was their policy but when speaking to another guest they got a room in a building that wasn’t their preference and tipped the front desk $20 and got the room they wanted. Apparently they are only willing to accommodate guest requests if you pay extra. I Spoke to security after my teen daughters were chased by a naked man in the halls, they were not interested at all. Other guests also had issues with that unruly guest exposing himself to them and security didn’t care. They did however take a small child with physical disabilities using the adult only pool seriously and kicked him out of the pool when it was the only pool that was accessible to him.

We are a family of four, two kids aged 7 and 5. We had an amazing time during our 7 night 8 day stay. We stayed at the building by the quiet pool which looks beautiful but we never used it with the little ones (we preferred the main pool). The main pool is beautiful and has a swim up bar with amazing staff, shout out to Ernesto (bartender). The staff was amazing with our family from Francisco in the dining area to the best entertainers Carlos and Isaac. The beach is a short walk from the main pool and is gorgeous. The main beach has a coral reef further out where the larger waves break leaving the beach calm for swimming, and snorkeling. We took a walk down the beach and built an inukshuk with several others that were already there (beautiful site). Past this point there are larger waves and it is great for swimming and looking for sea shells. The food was amazing at the main buffet. We also went to one a la cart (octopus I think), and it was amazing. We hope to go back again.

I must say this is an excellent value for your money. Beautiful clean grounds, good food and amazing staff. Shout to our housekeeper Lidia in the Catalina building on the ground floor. She is just an amazing person so kind a friendly and always a smile on her face. Andrea and Nicholas at the pool bar are exceptional people always smiling and supplying great service. Shout out to some of the workers that are behind the scenes that definitely deserve to be mentioned are this amazing lady with her pale blue hair clip that keeps the bathrooms clean. She was off a few days and the bathrooms were awful. She did a great job and a tip goes along way to let her know we appreciate her service. Alberto one of the grounds keepers sweeping up all those leaves around the pool. Always smiling and helpful. Full appreciation to the pool life guard Estaban who is always smiling a fist pump here and there and makes you feel welcome at the resort. I can't forget Solange who is always helpful . Rosa welcoming you into the buffet. Thank you to all of you above that made our 2 weeks stay so memorable. Because of you all we will be back.

The hotel is directly connected to a beautiful beach. We chose the Royal package so had a nice room, access to private beach area, lounge etc Staff were all great and we were impressed by the buffet, although huge the serving areas were plentiful, covered containers kept food warm, options abounded - beef from joint, pastas made to order etc 3 a la carte restaurants were also available plus a snack bar. There were both party areas and quiet areas with separate pools - only warning is that the rooms are 3 stories and there are no elevators so if you have mobility issues ensure you stay on ground floor. The evening entertainment was average - the exception was live music from a wonderful singer.

Overall a OK hotel. Rooms in need of a refresh, however cleaning staff keeps them as clean as possible. The bath/shower area needs the most attention. Pools and beach were very clean and there always appeared to be a few chairs available. Tried two à la carte restaurants, The Italian and the steakhouse both were very good. The buffet was ordinary, and a little more variety would have been better. My spouse did get some food poisoning on the last day. The wine appears to be watered down which May or may not contributed to the sickness. The resort was 80% attended by Canadians and many were repeat guest. A mainly 60+ age group which made for a quiet and relaxing time.

People were amazing, grounds were well maintained, buffet was very clean, workers were very friendly and helpful. Vintage bar and Ala cartes were great. Great place to relax. Would definitely return again.

This resort is very dated but clean and the food was ok. The beach was spectacular though. The drinks were all bottom shelf and only wine & beer served at restaurants. Odd that they took the towels out in the morning but didn’t replace until late afternoon. Entertainment was not good, terrible sound system. But for the money it’s not a bad deal.

Beautiful grounds. Awesome pool and swim up bar. Lots of variety for bars, restaurant and at buffet. Service was great. Rooms a tiny bit outdated but still very clean and enjoyable. If you’re a coffee lover you’d have to look off resort!

The staff is exceptionally friendly. But I can't figure out why they use four different people to service the rooms. One handles towels, one handles restocking the fridge, one cleans the room, and one delivers chocolates at night. There's lots of traffic in the hallways, and lots of noise. They really need more people in the buffet, especially in the mornings. The people that are there are great, but they're run off their feet. The food wasn't bad, except for the roast beef, at the start of our vacation, but did get repetitive by the end of our 10 days. And the salt! Oh my, I like salt but a lot of the food was really too salty! Unusual for a Caribbean resort, the desserts were delicious. The A La Cartes were ok, the Italian was probably the best. The beach is lovely for sunbathing and walking, not great for swimming. We had a Premium package so got to enjoy the private beach area. That was really nice. The pool was very nice, but closed down at 7:00 pm! And often during the day the volume of music playing was not enjoyable. They could also use more public restrooms. The ones they have at the lobby often had a line up, sometimes because they wouldn't flush. My cousin and I booked massages, not a great experience. There's nothing like someone calling bingo at a volume that could be heard throughout the resort to aid in the relaxation one should enjoy from having a massage. The cold air blasting down wasn't a great addition to the hot stone massage either. It's not the worse resort I've ever been to, that belongs to Cuba, but I am not likely to book this resort again.

The main hotel lobby reception area is located in the middle and you have the differents stylish buildings around it where the rooms are located. The theatre is very close to the lobby and the buffet and the bar outside. They keep the place clean. The workers are quick at cleaning the tables and serving us coffee and water. The omelette cooks are very quick and are good at mastering/juggling the omelettes preferences of the guests. The food was good. We did not get sick, ( we don't drink much). The live music band (one night) was very very good. The others nights they had karaoke, silent disco and some good dance performers.They had the super bowl party viewing on the giant screen in the theatre outside. We had few sunny days and some rain but it's the same everywhere (climate change). The resort does not have elevators but after few days of climbing three floors, my heart rate improved, I was less breathless the last days. It was a good exercise but it makes it a little harder when you take your luggage down when you leave. You can also ask the porters to come and help you. In general, it was a good week and we were happy with our choice.

Upon arrival we were sent upstairs to the Royal check in. While doing required paperwork were given drinks of our choice as well as access to some Hors d'oeuvre in the lounge. Check in was quick room was not ready but was ready when we came back at 3pm. Room and grounds clean pool good and was kept clean. Man bars available for the size of the resort and all good. Ocean was good with very little coral and water clear enough to see it as well as see small pools of fish. Buffet was good can it get repetitive? Sure but if you try the different dishes it was good. The Ocean Grill, Italian and Octopus restaurants were also good for an all inclusive. The staff were top notch friendly and quick for the most part (yes restaurants could be slower in service and getting coffee at breakfast could be slow but the resort was at capacity the whole time so please be patient they are going 10/10.) Overall I love love love this resort especially at the price point and will visit again.

The grounds at this hotel were immaculate as per usual. The food was excellent and the room was very clean and quiet with a view of the beach. This was our fifhteen year going to this resort and what stands out are the people who work at this resort. From manager in charge of food services, Sessione Ventura to Raul at breakfast. These people go above and beyond for their guest.

Nothing is perfect in the world, and it is up to us to find the perfection. We return to this resort for very specific reason: cleanliness, beach, food and steady climate and hospitality. Always good.

This was our 3rd time back at this resort - and we typically have never gone back to a twice because we love to explore different places. Why go back 3 times? We met many others coming back 5 -10 - 15 times! WOW! Why? This is not a 5 star resort - not a large resort (compared to others) - limited childrens activities - so why come back? Well, we are retired and just want a place of "Rest & Relaxation" as we wait for winter to pass in Canada. There are a lot of Canadians there. (maybe even 70% :) The food is decent - the beach is very nice - the place is older but kept up well - the rooms are ok - the price for 2 weeks inclusive with flight was only $2200. It will be hard to beat this value for money. The only issue we had this time was that the hotel ignored our 4 emails to request a room on 3rd floor in the Catalina building. (This was due to mobility issues of some of our party of 4) We were left standing in the lobby for 1 hour while they did who knows what. The rooms were actually available - and they finally left us have them. No one there (including management) could really tell us why 4 seniors after traveling all day were left with no room for 1 hour) This left a bit of a sour taste in our mouth!

We are already discussing our trip next year back. Our group of 15 adults thoroughly enjoyed the pools, our rooms, lounges and the food was exceptionally good. The beachfront was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful when needed

Beautiful resort. Small so everything was in a nice walking distance. Staff is so friendly and very accommodating. It is a family resort but really not much for little ones to do...I didn't have any children with me but I did notice that. Weather was awesome, beach is stunning, everything is so clean and well kept and the food was delicious! Very nice place and I plan to return.

We enjoyed our vacation at Gran Ventana. I like the smaller size of the property. The food is good. The beach is great. All the staff we encountered were wonderful. Would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go back!

Food good, grounds were impeccable, room was a little outdated but more than comfortable and the service was very good. Location was good with a little mall close by for any necessities. No complaints at all

We have been to the VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort 3 times now and have grown to love it. It feels like our second home! The resort isn't oversized which is great for most travellers. It has a beautiful beach for those who love the sand and water - long walks on the beach are the best!! The main pool is a happening place during the day. There is a quiet pool and bar just a short walk away at another building on the property. The food options and quality at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants are wonderful. We love the staff, they go over and above to make you feel welcome, so much so, that some feel like family to us (Aquilino, Amable, Jose, David, Santa, Olvi, Solange and many more who we love catching up with and seeing when we visit)! The rooms are clean and we have never experienced any issues with water pressure or water temperature. Beds are comfortable. They have added some upgrades to the property over the past few years and are continually working to ensure the property is enhanced as they can. Oscar Lore and his staff deserve a standing ovation for their excellence in working hard to ensure our vacations are memorable for all the right reasons! We look forward to returning as soon as we can!

I will keep it short and sweet, the resort was absolutely beautiful with amazing staff! The food was absolutely delicious and it seemed that there was attention to detail on everything that was served. The beach is awesome! Beautiful waters a legit mountain view. 10/10 will go again

This is my fourth time here. I always enjoy the Resort. The staff are wonderful especially Andrea who is the pool bartender. The rooms are always very clean and always have plenty of towels. The buffet is well stocked and there are many choices to choose from whether its for breakfast or dinner. They have evening entertainment and afternoon games and music. I definitely will be going back!!

The hotel grounds were immaculately kept, with flowering bushes everywhere. Main pool noisy with lots of activities, but a quiet pool available elsewhere which was just what I personally preferred as I was travelling alone. Buffet restaurant exceptional. Christmas Eve dinner at the buffet restaurant was really exceptional..Only ate at the Caribbean a/la/carte which DID not simply repeat the buffet but had some interesting options with good sized portions. Exceptional attention paid by staff to accommodate allergies. Rooms consistently cleaned, fridge stocked, air conditioning working well. Beach was kept very clean...unfortunately vendors were especially aggressive, so I ended up avoiding the beach after the first few days. I have visited Resorts where the vendors are in a roped off area like a little market and you visit them there...I would wonder if this might work at Gran Ventana. My only disappointment was that the evening entertainment consisted primarily of 'resort games'...perhaps some of the performers had time off for Christmas. I was there for 8 nights and saw only two 'choreographed' shows which were lackluster at best. Not what I was led to believe from the resort reviews. But I would definitely plan a repeat visit.

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and very clean. Smaller resort with great staff. Food is very good and the alacartes are amazing. Very safe and can walk to a small mall at the road at end of resort. Only thing that I would suggest is they have 4 tables and chairs outside the buffet it would be nice to add at least 8 more table and chairs to sit and have a drink in the open air if you did not want to see the shows. .

If you want to shower in the morning - good luck Beach towels aren't always available - some mornings we had to wait an hour - there was a huge line waiting for the towels Some rooms have recurring lock issues - either key cards don't open doors or on the 2nd or 3rd attempt The reservation line for dinner takes an hour to get through As we arrived for check in - an hour in line to get room key

Nice clean beach and immaculate grounds. Lots of good food and great assortment. Our room was in a great location and very clean. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Not far to airport. Check in and out was very efficient and fast.

Great resort for the price. Food was good, drinks were good and all 3 a-la-carts were very good. Great sandy beach that was very easy to get into -no rocks and gentle slope. We did upgrade to Junior Suite to get oceanview and get away from the pool. The resort was very busy But the service was still good. There were no ocean activities and very few beach umbrellas.

Staff remember you and treat you like family. Everything is close ie pool, restaurants and beach. They always try to accommodate requests. Vendors are polite and not pushy. Very clean, housekeeping was excellent. Lake access was a short walk away. All amenities such as restaurants, bars, washrooms were all easily accessible. Staff were personable and helpful with all requests. Our request for a King Bed was accepted. We were on the ground floor and only steps away from anywhere on the resort.

Stayed recently with a large group of friends. Rooms were clean and bright with excellent a/c. Pool and beach areas were great. Beach is great for long walks on nice hard sand. Food was excellent in the buffet area, and all of the ala carts. Most importantly the staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return, and will recommend to friends and family.

The staff was very helpful. We had to change our room from the top floor to the ground floor as we had a baby in a stroller. took 4 days but after that we had a great time. we had to go for lunch off the resort sometimes for a better meal. they have lots of food but much of the dishes weren't to our tastes. the great thing is that they had the omelette stations and grilled meats. The water was a bit too wavy most days for a nice swim. but the long beach is just gorgeous beautiful beach

The food is great along with the incredible the staff at the buffet; Rosa and Felix gracias xo Check-in was smooth, the grounds are spotless the room always clean. Love the beach! Found the resort clean , the resort rooms were clean and well cleaned daily and the grounds were well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful for any needs. The selection at buffet was good and a la carte restaurants were very exceptional , The Ocean Grill ,Octopus and Italian . The pool was quiet and easy to access. Nice clean beach area with many lounger chairs and very long for morning or afternoon walks. Found the price right for the value and would/will recommend this resort to everyone I know looking for a nice place to vacation in the Caribbean. Will be returning.

We had a fantastic time - again. This was our 7th vacation at VH Gran Ventana. We love the resort, accommodation and the friendly and amazing staff. We highly recommend VH Gran Ventana to everybody who wants to relax, disconnect and enjoy the permanent summer weather.

In general resort run well. On the beach you feel that you are on the mobile commercial/ market,,,I understand that it is important for local community but it should be more limited some how? Under wise I am coming home from bussness trip,,,it damage impression of the trip very much,,,

The smaller footprint makes for a very enjoyable experience getting from room to beach to food to bar... The taxi service to downtown is at the front door an a quick 10-15 minute trip. The staff was very friendly and special shout outs to Rosa, Felix and Adrian during breakfast/lunch service. Rosa in the evening and the two bartenders Andrea and Richardo! We had a junior suite - that overlooked the ocean - 3rd floor. plenty of space, bathroom had great water pressure, and hot water! Beach was great and ok to snorkel. Food was amazing! One of our party has food sensitivity and allergies and there was always plenty (and tasty) options! All beaches in the DR are public, so be prepared to have vendors. Being polite goes a long way! We would definitely go back, unfortunately there are no direct flights schedule to POP from YWG. We departed from Toronto. From the POP airport to the resort ~30 minutes with traffic.

We had an amazing time at Grand Ventana! My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights there. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Very clean resort, food was good. Staff was amazing! Highly recommend taking a ride with Jose on the catamaran.

I stayed there with my teenage kids (age 19 and 15). We had 2 separate rooms, side by side. The rooms were well appointed, although a bit aged and could be due for an update soon, if the resort is not changed to a condo develooment like many of the prior resorts in Playa Dorada. We loved the compactness of the resort - just the right size, it's short distance from the airport, and the proximity to Puerto Plata. The grounds looked great, the pool was very nice and the beach was great.The buffet restaurant and the snack bar combined offered a very good variety. The 3 a la carte restaurant were very good as well, and they offered a nice ambience. We spent hours each day playing volleyball in the pool. The entertainment was really good as well. Altogether we had a great week there thanks to the wonderful staff. I am bad with names, but Amoury and Rosa stood out. The pool entertainment guys and gals were fun as well. I would certainly return!

We have been to this resort about 5 times, it’s very easy to get around, not too big, The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, we love to eat. The beach is clean and beautiful. Love that every Wednesday, they have a white party, (bring something white to wear if you like), where they introduce all their amazing staff, and they have a couple of draws, ( nice prizes), we won a couples massage❤️ shout out to Solange(in customer service) who was very helpful and accommodating with a minor issue we had with our room. Definitely going back soon, and love their entertainment staff

Amazing Resort! Delicious food with plenty variety, friendly staff and lots of activities to do. Decor is a bit outdated, I wish they had a long mirror in the room. Pool is nice, beach area was always windy, could not enjoy… Otherwise no complaints and I really enjoyed my time-

The staff were super kind all around, the room was kept very clean, restocks were consistent, food was amazing, and overall a great resort if you’re looking to relax, or have fun, there was quiet parts of the resort, but there was also parties every night that were optional and didn’t interrupt if you wished to relax.

We had a wonderful 7 day vacation in Puerto Plata. Our experiencing booking the vacation with O'Neil Graham was extremely pleasant. He provided adequate details of the trip, including all necessary formalities for the trip. I will not hesitate to book with him again!

This was our second time at VH Gran Ventana and it felt like home! We saw a few friends from last year, made some new friends and relaxed for a whole week. The rooms are clean, mostly adult guests, the pool area and beach are always clean, the staff is very friendly and will help with anything, the food is top class, and the wait staff is amazing. The white party for return guests is unbelievable. Can't say enough good things about this resort.

So many great things about this hotel... we highly recomend (group of 12 people aged 13-73) -proximity to airport 20 minutes -efficiency of front desk and porters getting our rooms & luggage taken care of upon arrival -lots of room around the pool(s) -an abundance of food choices and variety daily (no matter what time you arrived at the buffet) -plenty of activities around the resort-make sure you try the silent disco night SO MUCH FUN!!! -calm, clear ocean front with enough loungers for everyone- sellers not pushy or overwhelming -polite and friendly staff all around -our rooms had super comfy beds & pillows with clean, cozy duvets -room maids cleaned our rooms daily and stocked with clean white towels

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The resort was small so everything was close by, the beach, the pool and the restaurants. The rooms were clean and bright and the bed was comfortable. Towel service was good. The buffet food was good, but some dishes (beef, Turkey ) seemed to be overcooked. The specialty restaurants were all good especially the Italian one. In the bffet, It would have been better to give each table a jug of coffee so we didn't have to wait for the water to come back as it often took awhile. The water for tea was lukewarm. The drinks were ok, wine was average. The pool was good, but it cold have been cleaned more as there was debris from the palm trees gloating around. The beach was very nice, well groomed but the wind was high when we were there and so staying on the beach was not too comfortable. The water was good/ The coral reef a was out, prevented the waves from coming right in which made for a calmer shoreline. Overall, we had a nice time and the resort was fine.

Great place to stay, friendly staff, awesome food. Beach very close. Found it odd we couldn't get coffee at 6am but not a big deal. Room was nice, clean. Fridge in room was not looked after at all, only stocked once. Had problem with WIFI and room Fridge but when we told the Sunwing rep they were both loked after.

This was our third time at the Gran Ventana and it will not be our last!! The staff is amazing and so willing to help with whatever you need or want! The resort, grounds and beach are kept EXTREMELY clean which means a lot. The staff is always tidying, sweeping, cleaning, etc.! The food is great and you can always find something for everyone - even if you are travelling with picky eaters!! Entertainment is fun - hats off to Brian - who is one of the most talented guys around!! I think the only thing that I could say needs a bit of attention is the pool - I wish it could be skimmed more often to keep the debris out. This is not a party resort so if you're looking for big bashes late at night with young people - this may not be the resort for you. Bartenders are super! And what also means a lot is that the staff get to know you - remember your name - or your favourite drink! It's very personable! We just got home Friday and are already talking about our stay there in 2026!!!

We were part of a group of 12 (ages 13-74) and we all agreed that this was one of our favourite resorts of all time. The proximity to the airport was just the beginning, we were on our way to our rooms within a reasonable time upon arriving to the resort. Our rooms were clean, beds were comfy, lots of blankets and pillows, the quality of the beds was comparable to hotels in Canada. Beds were made daily and towels were replaced every morning by friendly housekeepers. The food choices were plentiful and there was always lots of food to eat no matter what time you arrived at the buffet. Even the pickiest eaters can find lots to choose from. Pasta and salad bars, fruit and cheese as well as a grill station with several options including a different theme each night- American, Chinese, Italian etc... The centrally located pools (1 large pool divided into 3 separate sections) and pool bar provided loungers, tables and umbrellas for the guests with music, volleyball, floaties and interactive games throughout the day. Sign up as soon as you arrive for a la carte dinners or you could miss out- they fill up quickly- we often chose the buffet because there were more choices for everyone! The beach is beautiful, lots of loungers, a beach bar and lunch restaurant with pizza, nachos, wings and more! We highly recommend this resort and would not hesitate to return! NO complaints at all!

This was one of my most amazing trips. I was to the Gran Ventana 18 years ago and have always said it was my favorite resort. You did not disappoint, the staff, food, grounds, rooms are the best. The close proximity to everything is amazing, one of our friends is in a wheelchair and was able to get to the beach without a problem. Thank you for inviting the 6 of us to the cocktail dinner it was WAY more that we expected! As well as the fruit tray and bottle of rum in our room when we arrived. I have a couple of suggestions though, pull out makeup mirror in the bathroom (too far away to see), and a full length mirror in the room. As well try to replace broken chairs on the beach, I sat on one one day and thought I was going through it. I highly recommend this resort and we plan to be back! Gerri Brown

This was our second time to this resort , we upgraded to the Royal package. We stayed 2 weeks this time. All the A'la cartes were good and the buffets were good as well. The resort is smaller, walkable and relaxing. The beach goes on for miles, room was basic but kept very clean. We spent most evenings at The Vintage Club. Shout out to Eileen, Olvis and Santa for the warm hospitality it was fun. Thank you to the guys at the beach club for making us part of the family while we were there. We had a great vacation.

The hotel was old, but super clean. The beach was super windy so we spent most of our time at the quiet pool and met lots of amazing guests. Our favourite employee was Jackie she was amazing. The food was good, plenty of it, and you could Always find something to eat. The front desk staff weren’t as friendly as I would have expected and people say 1st timers got lots of perks, we got none of that. Overall we had an amazing time and the few issues were nothing that could have ruined our time.

Food at the Buffet and al a cartes were amazing. Staff in the buffet was amazing. The al a cartes could use some work. If you are not a pool person, seating is scarce. I had requested main floor as I have limited mobility but received the second floor in the farthest building from the beach. With that and many stairs during the journey, we never got to the beach. Therefore, if you have any limitations, this is not the resort for you. Other than that, we did enjoy our stay

Great value for your money. The resort is older and showing its age but the people make up for it. Perfect for a relaxing beach vacation with good food. Nice to see they invested in new chairs for the buffet and entertainment area. It would be nice if they invested in more umbrellas at pool and beach. We wanted to go on the bike tour but couldn't find 4 bikes that worked. Small investment to get the bikes working. I would recommend this resort to anyone that wants a very laid back beach vacation.

Lovely resort with lots to offer. The grounds were very well kept and the room was clean. The staff were welcoming and the food was delicious (too much so!). There was not much going on in terms of evening entertainment and if I had any suggestions it would be for the resort to up their efforts in that regard. Overall it is a beautiful getaway

The room was nice and clean. The pool areas were cleaned regularly, and there was a great selection of food to chose from. They had 3 wonderful dining areas that you could book. They main food court has helpful staff and the eating areas were always clean.

This was my second visit within 4 months, 7 days both visits. A wonderful greeting from Carlos as we arrived. He took care of our luggage and saw us to our room. He is so helpful and informative, very friendly and makes you feel like you’re a special guest. He is a real gem. The hotel is lucky to have him. The rooms are small and could use an update, lighting in the bathroom is horrible, needs updating, the bathroom especially is very dated and tired. Rooms are very clean and fresh towels always available. Our mini fridge was nicely stocked. The balcony is nice and big, the highlight of the room. All the employees are wonderful and welcoming. Always accommodating. The staff in the buffet are very very busy in the mornings at breakfast, it was sometimes quite a wait to get a coffee. They could certainly use more servers in the buffet. The a la cartes were overall quite nice. The food throughout the resort is amazing. The main buffet was fully stocked with loads of choices . The beach grill has the best chicken wings I’ve ever eaten. Pizza is fabulous as well. You certainly do not ever leave hungry. The bars are okay, nothing fancy, they do accommodate you with any drinks choices you might ask for if they have the ingredients. I’d love to have had mimosas though. A beautiful lobby bar would be a lovely addition. Beach was beautiful, good for swimming and snorkeling. Lifeguard always on duty. The pool is nice, however I did not spend a lot of time in or around the pool. Towels were always available and lots of loungers to choose from. The evening entertainment was generally good. We did take in a few of the evening events. Overall I’d rate the resort a 4 out of 5.

This was my 2nd trip to the Grand this winter and both trips were amazing. The resort is just the right size, it’s so clean and well cared for. Always enough chairs, towels and the food is some of the best I’ve had. The buffet was as good as the a la cartes. The staff are amazing Carlos met us at the bus and remembered we had been there 2 months before. He is very professional, punctual, and efficient. All the staff appear to love their jobs and bring much joy and smiles to all. The beach is one of the nicest I’ve visited, because of this not a lot of time was spent at the pool but that was lovely as well, very busy so not a lot of relaxing to be had ? A 5 star in my book! Thank you for 2 wonderful vacations.

My husband and I just got back from this resort and are already planning on going back, Yes the rooms are a bit dated, yes there isn’t a disco but the food is GOOD, the beach is gorgeous and everyone is very nice and kind. Felt very safe here and did some amazing excursions. A great place for a relaxing holiday.

The resort was clean and rooms were large . The maid service was terrible, two days we never had anyone . They take all your towels and facecloths early in morning like 9-930 and you have to chase to find the maid to get new ones . Food was great !! The only other thing is ya really had to be aware as there was one or two steps everywhere and in the evening not really noticeable and there was absolutely no handrails anywhere , in pool or where there was two or three steps

The hotel had a quiet wing/side and a main one. Rooms were clean, food was great! (Beware of their medium rare burgers) Drinks are strong, à la cartes were good! Friendly staff that care. Beach was clean! Wifi was in most areas free of charge and the nightly entertainment was lovely. Would of liked knowing they had a white party on one of the nights to come prepared but that is such a minor thing to focus on! Would book again! Their excursion selection was great as well as the mall within the resort complex with local goods!

After having a good trip here in Feb2024 this time we started our stay in a room without a functioning toilet and a shower that leaked because the tub was cracked. This led to the entire floor being wet most of the day creating a slippery and dangerous situation. This room should never have been sold. Management are aware of it and I am certain they continued to put people in this room after they moved 3 days into our stay. Each day I pleaded to get toilet repaired and each day was disappointed. We also heard other people with similar issues. A functioning toilet is a necessity and an expectation when you spend so much money. Stay improved after that but damage was done by that point and we will not be back.
