Honestly was not all inclusive hotel they preferred dominican people better they get al the right treatment we got bad room because we asked for 2 beds minimum bar only one night was free food wasn’t the best very limited drinks same no pops only Pepsi 7 up

The resort has a beautiful clean and sandy beach. Food was good ( many choices). I truly enjoyed Candita's omelets served with a beautiful smile straight from her heart. Entertainment could be better. I truly advise to buy jewelry at the tables at the airport. The resort stores had them very overpriced.

We had an enjoyable stay overall and felt the resort offered good value for the price, especially during the first week of May when it was very quiet. The food was one of the highlights of our trip, with tasty buffet options, good à la cartes when available, and excellent grilled items. The beach was clean, easy to enjoy, and never too crowded, and we also received excellent service from Yulianna and the bar staff. That said, the resort could use some updates, particularly in the rooms and pool areas, and there were not enough umbrellas for shade at the beach and pool. Since it was low season, some restaurants, activities, and entertainment were limited and communication about cancellations could have been much better (when there were staff meetings being held). The room itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with working AC and hot water, so while the resort may not feel luxurious, it was still a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Unfortunately, this resort was a major disappointment and did not feel close to a 4-star experience. I would rate it closer to a 2.5-star resort at best. The property itself is very dated, and many aspects of the stay felt poorly maintained. One of the biggest issues was the staff experience. Several staff members repeatedly hit on us throughout the trip, even after we politely asked them to stop, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. The food quality was below average, and the liquor seemed extremely watered down. Our room key cards also stopped working almost every night, forcing us to constantly return to the front desk for replacements. The beds were very uncomfortable, hard, and you could feel the springs through the mattress. The overall atmosphere also wasn’t enjoyable for us. The resort catered mostly to an older crowd, and during our stay there were multiple loud arguments and fights between guests. Overall, this was not the relaxing vacation experience we expected, especially for the price paid.

The resort was clean. We had great service from the front desk getting us into a room , even though had to be moved 2 times after. The buffet service lacked. We were lucky to be met when we entered and lucky yo have some one return to see if a drink was wanted. The entertainment was very scarce. The seating around the resort was limited and found that people left their towels so no one had access. Many times we had no where to sit.

Hotel was full capacity! They are not prepared for this it seems. Not enough shade spots and loungers unless you wake up at 5am to reserve a spot you are more than likely not getting one - lots of arguments between guests over chairs it was ridiculous!! Coffee was made by an instant machine just press a button early risers have to go down to the beach bar to get a coffee until the buffet opened at 7am. Overall weather was great and food was good don’t bother with the seafood à la cart not great. We will not return to this hotel

This hotel is very dated and the maintenance is quite poor. However, if you get a good room, they are clean, bed was comfortable enough and basic. When we first arrived, the bathroom had a massive leak. There was a puddle of water on the floor and the phone didn't work and there's no balcony or outdoor space on the second floor.,, so we asked to change rooms. We were given another room that was smaller, on the main floor with a patio,but at least there were no leaks. I asked them for a new coffee maker as the one that was there look like it had been through a fire. The hotel has the most amazing entertainment staff. I've been to many resorts and these people were great and the shows were hilarious. If it wasn't for that, I don't think we would've enjoyed our stay. The main problem is the hotel allows people to reserve chairs the night before they never enforce the rules that say no reserving chairs at the pool and the beach. For some reason, the pool area only has three umbrellas, which is weird because resorts should have umbrellas around all their patio chairs. In my opinion I've never had any different. Lots of sun beds at the beach but again people put their towels the night before and the staff does not remove them as they should so that makes it very frustrating. Everybody at the Resort was talking about it and they were all frustrated so for that reason you might consider whether you want to stay and go through the aggravation every day ...The food is good, but remember this is a three star hotel not a four as it is sometimes stated. You'll never run out of anything to eat. The desserts and ice cream are delicious. The bread is also very good and the pizza you can make your own pasta. They always have some meat or fish being cooked and the à la carte restaurants are good. The week we went, which was April 9-16 2026 it was pouring rain every night, but the first two nights we got there It was so bad that some peoples rooms were flooded. I heard stories of luggage is being soaked in 2 feet of water. Thank goodness there was five hours of sunshine every day. I had an OK time, but I won't go back to this resort ...just too many problems. Maybe if they do an overhaul like they need I would consider in the future.

I have been travelling the Caribbean for 30 years. Blue Bay Villas Dorado is by far the worst resort I have ever stayed in. If it were free I would never stay again. Our room flood completely two nights in a row, 6 inches of water. NO COMPENSATION! Told we can’t help if it t rains. Food was awful, resort is very poorly layer out.

The rooms are very dated. Our window did not lock and the deadbolt on the door was broken when we arrived. We called and they did come to fix the same day. The first night we arrived, we did not realize we didn't have a bed spread and froze when sleeping. Many of the lounge chairs are ripped or broken. Not enough shade at the beach or pool. Need to get up before 5 am in order to get a spot with shade. The VIP section on the beach was empty every day. This should be opened up for others to use if empty and people could move if any VIP's showed up. Food was not great. Although you could get a fresh omelette every morning and pasta in the evening. Drinks were good - not watered down.

Nice spot. Small resort, everything within a short walk. GREAT food at every meal, including the fried chicken at the beach bar. Rooms are adequate. Pool and beach loungers were scarce and some broken.

My husband, adult son and I just returned from this resort on Mar 16/26. Overall, we had a very nice week. The good Food and food variety were very good at the buffet. Selections were hot, tasty, and abundant. Although we stayed away from the fresh salad options, the items looked very fresh and clean. The fruit was also fresh, ripe and delicious. We booked both the Italian and Steak House specialty restaurants and both were outstanding with good quality and nice size portions. The Animation team was fantastic. All of them were high energy, friendly, and engaging. The nightly shows were good too, some were hilarious. The staff, in general, was wonderful. The 3 pools were very nicely maintained, and the poolside bars were well-stocked. Need improvement This is an older resort, and it shows in many places. The villas definitely need an upgrade or major overhaul. They are very dated, furniture and doors, shelves are sticky from being painted over and over instead of sanded and properly painted or replaced. Tile grout on floor is cracked or stained and just looks very unattractive. Several guests mentioned plumbing issues, room keys and / or door locks not working. Our bathroom floor wasn't cleaned, swept or washed all week, or maybe even prior to our arrival because there was a crumb or something on the floor behind the door when we got there and it was still there when we left. The bathroom mirror also wasn't cleaned regularly. Unfortunately, for me, these were deal breakers for leaving a tip. I just felt grossed out seeing the same grime and dirt every day. WIFI is hit and miss. In this day and age, reliable and fast WIFI is a non-negotiable at any resort. It was almost nonexistent in the villas further away, and sometimes even in the lobby or pool area. It took me a couple hours to finally complete airline check-in before our flight. I tried in the room and out by the lobby. Very frustrating. It would not be an expensive fix to install extenders by each block of villas. Another problem, which is quite major, is that 95% of the pool longers are in need of repair or replacement. Although the chair frames were good, the fabric itself was ripped and falling apart. When you sit on one of these chairs, you literally get hit on the head because the rip causes the back rest to whip forward. As the week wore on, there were fewer and fewer chairs available, mostly because the broken ones had to be removed as they just didn't work. We spoke to several return guests who mentioned they would not be coming back to this resport. It's a shame because it has great potential but really needs updates. At best, this resort is more a 3 to 3 1/2 star in its current state

Overall a nice spot, friendly staff. I was in a villa that was very dated, the stool under the desk was rotten as well as the headboard where it touched the floor. The tile floor had quite a few marks in it, bathroom was recently updated and was very nice. Convenient to the golf course directly across the street!

Resort was small but accommodating and relaxing. Clean rooms and good food. Staff was friendly and helpful. It’s not a party place so if that’s your vibe you probably won’t enjoy it. They did have entertainment each evening and activities during the day. Great place if you want to relax. Beach was cleaned every morning of debris. Buffet dinner had a theme each evening. Only one bartender per bar so a bit of a wait at times. Overall had a great vacation!

If you are a beach person, you will enjoy it here. It's a long beach, not too crowded and great for walking. Water is great for swimming. There is also a beach bar/ restaurant. Lots of chairs available too (reserving a chair is not allowed). The front desk staff seemed helpful, but it took us 5 days to get a working phone and 3 days to get blankets for our beds (cool at night). The rooms are dated, but they are clean. as are the grounds. The food is good, with an excellent variety. Half of the staff are happy and helpful, while the other half wouldn't smile if you paid them. We would rate this as a 4 star resort.

Blue Bay is an older, but well appointed resort. The grounds are well kept…lots of paved walking paths, lush greenery and beautiful walkway to the beach. Three pools, swim up bar, beach bar, spa and a great entertainment team to keep you active and smiling. Buffet restaurant offered delicious food 3 times a day. If any one went hungry….that’s there own fault. Rooms were clean, made up daily and staff made sure there was water, towels etc. Best part…the entire Blue Bay staff team were very friendly and welcoming.

This the perfect small resort. The grounds are beautiful everything is easily accessible and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Close to the airport, shopping mall and a beautiful golf course.

Happy that it was adults only. The food was pretty tasty. pleased there was lettuce with every meal. The A/C worked well. Older people don’t sleep, so the loungers on the beach were taken before 7AM. A lot of smokers, and lobster people that didn’t leave the swim up pool bar. Jahovah only knows how many ppl used it as a toilet. I stuck to the beach.

The title says it all. Our room 8211 was old and decrepit. Maid service was good. Initially we had no hot water, but that was remedied a day or two later. The toilet was broken and kept running after being flushed. I reported it to the front desk but nothing was done about it. The mini bar contained only water and one beer and two bottles of pop. That's it. The beach was very nice, however beach chairs were scarce as were the chairs by the pool most of which were broken. The pool was dirty and the deck tiles were loose and/or broken. There were no servers to take drink orders so if you wanted something we got in line and were served eventually. Food at the main buffet was mediocre at best no matter the theme. We skipped the a la carte restaurants after some people became ill after eating at the Chinese restaurant. The lady who made breakfast omelettes was excellent as was the pasta chef at lunch or dinner. Most people I spoke with were less than satisfied with Villas Doradas. Not going back.

The grounds were beautiful. Well kept. Thank you very much. Grounds people you work hard. Rooms are very dated. Had to have a fridge replaced as the other fridge was overheated. Thank you Carlos for your quick response.. Most staff were very friendly. Housekeeping staff and staff providers was good. The spa pool was lovely. Was calming. No blaring music. Much appreciated!!!!? Some staff speak quite loud which is unnecessary. Main pool area music extremely extremely loud, high base, booming. Spoke to front staff and pool staff about the volume of music. Nothing really changed. Would not return due to this!!! Especially in the evenings after a long day. Beach was lovely and the staff were good. Dining room staff was generally good. Staff work hard.

The rooms, although dated, grounds and beach are well maintained. Entertainment was fun and engaging. The a la carte Chinese and Italian were amazing. The only draw back was the amount of cigarette and cigar smoking and the smell of sewage at certain times of the day.

Small group winter get away in a Very clean resort, a little classic but well maintained and a great deal at this price point. One of the easiest check-in/checkouts ever. Food was great, drinks were plentiful and staff everywhere were just so nice and skilled. This is one of the best beaches we have seen. So clean and easy to get in and out.

this resort is very dated and in bad need of a lot of Repair. The beds were super hard. They had three pools at the resort and only one umbrella. The tiles around the pools were all loose the lounge chairs at the pool majority were ripped and stained. We were out of hot water for two days others were out for more than seven the staff, for the exception of two did not seem to want to be there would never speak They ran out of white wine on two days that I know of at the buffet. There was one toaster for the whole resort. It seems like this place is going down. I definitely would not recommend it. Other others that we talk to were the same very disappointed.

Good hotel staff very nice and helpful front desk good but dont take the time to explain things eg if your key stops working you have to have both keys changed at the same time or your roomates wont work ours had to be chamged three times rooms in the 2100 building are very noisy at might right across from the entertainment area if you like to stay up late youll be fine if not bring earplugs food is good plenty to choose from you wont go hungry for the price it is a good hotel finding chairs and tables outside can be trying as some guest put towels on beach chairs and pool chaisr for the entire day and only use one set but that happens at most all inclusives had a nice time a few extra charges for some meals and premium drinks like baileys 400 dollars a drink oh and my freinds said the wine is not good all in all I would give this hotel a 8/ 10 rating

We really enjoyed Blue Bay. Our room on the main floor was clean and comfortable. The grounds are very well maintained. The beach was great. The coffee, drinks and food were abundant and good. All staff were really nice and friendly. Liliana and her front desk team and the guest services ladies were absolutely fantastic. Carlos, Pablo and the ladies at the Black and White Bar were also fabulous. The bar by the entertainment area did not serve wine….having to walk 50 ft to another bar was not a problem, so no complaints here. The housekeeping staff had a supply room by our room so we met each morning, they were extremely friendly and attended to our every request. It is easy to see why so many of the guests return every year. We will!

Great location Close to ocean, food average, rooms terrible, old run down and nothing worked. 2 little beers and 2 cokes in fridge, you had to pay if you wanted anymore. Spoke with front desk about plugged toilets, no water for 2 days, radio did not work, ceiling fan broke, needed to replace door key 3 times. Cleaning staff great Hard to find a place to sit at beach not enough chairs and NO umbrellas Smoking EVERYWHERE, except . A nice little pool in the spa area, with quiet music and no smoking Would not recommend this resort

Awesome resort, perfect size and very clean. The staff was absolutely amazing and accommodating, and the amenities were never lacking, as can sometimes be the case at smaller resorts, but not here!! The buffet offered a wide selection, with themed dinners each night, and as a picky eater myself I never went without and was always satisfied and full. Excellent and safe location (being within a larger gated resort community) and close to the airport and historical Puerto Plata. Less than a 2 minute walk from the mall, which had very cheap souvenirs. The shows were fantastic, and there was usually something to watch on stage as well as in the lobby. The 24 hour snack bar was very convenient and tasty. Shoutout to Caesar and his excursion company, who got us a great deal for a city tour, you can find him on the beach! It’s always best to support local companies when on vacation. I would definitely come back to this resort again!

We had our flights cancelled by west jet because of plane issues and made us not make connection. There were no other flights for a week. West jet cancelled our flights telling us to contact tripcentral for refund. They did not refund us on hotels and we were unable to get refunded or stay in the hotels. Still fighting WestJet for refund. Tough when everything is online and told to submit it online. Only giving the one star because we never got to go see it. It won’t let me it put any

This was an over Christmas trip… this was one of the cheapest late booking places available that we could afford when we discovered we didn’t have to work over Christmas. Kids are older, we didn’t have to wait for Santa before travelling. After reading reviews, I had low expectations. But after 2 years of not travelling and cancelled trips due to family situations and work…. we just needed to get away. Both kids had been to the DR before…. my wife and I had been to Haiti… we sort of knew what we were getting into. We just wanted a beach. Flew AirTransat and will say they’ve up’d their game a bit. Good flight, nice people. Getting luggage was a bit dicey in the POP airport. Thanks to trackers in all the bags we rounded them up. A booth outside had airtransat on it, the gent there directed us to the bus. A ‘porter’ suddenly showed up and grabbed our bag. Seems ok until he holds it hostage for $5 US lol. The gent at the desk arranged that one so know they are in cahoots. If you don’t want it, just get directions and shoo the rest away. Was too tired after being up at 1am for the flight to care. The shuttle bus was a large tour bus. We were missing a person so we waited an extra 45 min in aircon. Good thing about the Blue Bay Villas…. you are the first stop and of course close to the airport, a mini mall (which sells all the stuff they sell on the beach plus coke - important info to know, snacks and fairly cheap booze… with a sports bar set up for Canadians… they posted the Canadians and Leafs Schedule), tennis and walking paths which appeared fairly safe even at dark. Check-in was made simple. Hand your passport, sign in, get a wrist band, a refreshing cool drink and another porter to your room. Now you’re down $25 in tips lol. We booked a superior room. In honesty I was immediately disappointed. Cheap looking furniture, no carpet as seen in the pictures, slightly moldy bathroom, No working lock on door, safe locked and no way in, bad lighting from ceiling fan that didn’t work. Room was very cool though. We checked out the kids room… much better in appearance with a lock, better lighting and working fan. My son did say “This is much nicer than the last place i stayed”. Stepping back, those were MY initial impressions…. the sheets were clean (well, not the warm blanket in the closet with the big stain), the bed hard but nice enough, fridge with some presidente, water and ….pepsi. (Why was everything pepsi and even worse… diet lol. Now you understand the coke comment from before. Rum and diet pepsi… tastes like a Dr.pepper knockoff). Bedside table held our stuff, just needed outlets. If i had a c-pap or something i would’ve been in trouble without an adapter. Nice decor on the bed and room. Guess what… By the end of the week I was sitting on the balcony enjoying the room, the birds and the noise from the resort next door…. just learned to not use the room coffee maker…. has not been cleaned for a while. Just go to the bar for the coffee machine. Oh and the shower is a tinkle of water. You’re in there for a bit longer getting the soap off. Potable water in the sink… remember that brushing your teeth. Food - I think if you complain about it your expectations were waaaay too high. The food was perfect! Omelette bar in the morning, extra things I wouldn’t normally eat, lots of fruit and juices, coffee, breads and oatmeal/cereals. Lunch we usually ate at the beach bar for a snack still being full from breaky but the Main buffet was loaded for lunch while the beach bar had hot dogs, burgers, rice/beans and the best coated fried chicken I’ve had since KFC changed their recipe. Dinner/Supper in the buffet always had a theme and a special meat and food items. The a-la-cart three restaurants… everyone raved about the Italian restaurant as you waited in the line starting at 9am to book. We honestly liked the Asian best, italian then Seafood. Nothing wrong with the Seafood but the selection was a bit thin. But they did offer Chicken! The resort… well kept. They painted all the paths (which are quite narrow and hard to pass some ignorant folk who walk side by side), kept the grounds clean, some broken and loose tiles. Three pools - one with morning exercise and afternoon festivities which are loud; second pool right beside with afternoon volleyball and loud. Third pool near the gym and spa… small, peaceful and quiet. The bars kept the drinks flowing. The Gym….. well never mind. They have a bike, elliptical, weight bench and weights up to 50lbs. oh… and a scale so you can scare yourself after each meal. More than two people… just wait your turn. For the weights… not the scale. The beach. Had a chair everyday. The cabana folk were up way too early for me to want to grab one. In the summer the water is clear, on our trip, sand was murking it up. couldn’t snorkel there. But…. it was sooo warm and wonderful. I hate the ocean. I scuba and that’s it. This, this was awesome just to float and enjoy the tranquility of no jelly fish, sea snakes or something else nibbling my toes. Hate to say i enjoyed it but i did! Activity wise on the beach…. Felix is the man. He makes it flow down there and kept us entertained. He is a great guy and if we ever go back I’m bringing him the biggest tip of anyone. He deserves it for the work he does and the effort he puts into it! You can kayak, sail on the small catamaran, volleyball… get sunny. If it wasn’t for the land sharks walking around selling the wares (same ones in the mall), massages, hair braiding, ‘Today only buy one cigar, nothing for free…’ and Mamawanna Mamawanna… it would be the perfect time at the beach. At night always a show. They put a lot of effort into it. Only prob is if you’re exhausted, it goes until around 2300 so can be loud in your room. The Christmas Eve buffet was fantastic. A roast beast (piggy) was being sliced up, amazing foods and treats and the decor was from a nutcrackers nightmare. They did good! If you are looking for an adult only resort, feel safe at this one. Many people expressed their surprise at the quality of the facility. There is some shady stuff in the background. Won’t get into it, Don’t look for trouble. But do tip. We didn’t do a great job but every meal 2-5$ plus a 20$ for the a-la-cart. The omelette bar always got at least a $1 per plate. And every time we filled our yetis at the bar, we tipped $1/drink. Others did more, some did nothing. Once you learn the wages, you will want to tip more! They have some amazing people working there. Take the time to talk and get to learn about them… you’ll have friends for life! You could have the best resort but if the people don’t match, it’s not the same. Blue Bay has some good ones who will make you laugh as they enjoy life! There are better resorts in the DR. I’m confident they are also more $$. I do honestly believe we got our moneys worth. But don’t drink the offered wine, buy the better bottle. Try a glass of each red and white. You’ll understand… but don’t look it up online. Sometimes leaving the wizard behind the curtain is best.

This hotel was not at all what I expected. I chose an adult resort because I wanted peace and a little maturity, but that was not at all what I experienced. The most irksome issue was the smoking (both cigarettes and cigars), which people partook in recklessly and ubiquitously- perhaps because it was an adult resort and they felt it fine to inundate adults with second-hand smoke. We would be in the dining room and smell cigar smoke (there was a gentleman who sold cigars right outside the dining hall and constantly smoked his product- advertising it, perhaps?) as well as cigarette smoke. As a result of the unceasing second-hand smoke, I could not participate in any of the entertainment events as the smoke chased me away. When I finally complained on the last night as I wanted to catch at least one show before leaving, I was told that there were non-smoking areas. When I asked where these areas were, they said "any indoor space." I replied that it was a resort and that there weren't any real indoor spaces except the bedrooms. The dining hall, though roofed, was an open area. I felt very limited in what I could do and enjoy and opted just for walking on the beach, which was nice but not worth the price I paid for this trip.

Having stayed at Blue Bay's resort in Mexico and at both VH Gran Ventana and Viva Heavens, this is a tired resort. Stayed in the 8000 building block in late May, being the shoulder season, it was very quiet; about less than 100 guests, thus not all the facilities wasn't available. Besides the above average service as disclosed on previous reviews, allow me to go over the small cons: 1) from the previous reviews, the lauded Asian restaurant was closed for renovations, but the food was available once a la carte and once at the buffet. 2) that in mind, besides your room, there's no air conditioning, except for the Italian restaurant. 3) showed up for the scheduled bicycle tour and asking 2 staff what happened, left after an hour. 4) difficult to get toiletries, shower gel. 5) service at reception for both checking in and especially checking out was with poor attitudes and frowns.

The BlueBay Villas Dorada is smaller resort with a great set-up. It is easy to find your way around. The food is great with so many options and varieties each day. The staff is friendly and fun. The Entertainment crew were the highlight of our two week stay, getting to see them for games on the beach in the morning and games at the pool each afternoon. Then the evening shows were always so much fun and entertaining. Sure, the resort could use some updates, which they are in the process of doing. If your room has a problem and you let them know, it gets fix quickly. I have been twice already with plans to go back :)

Let me first say, our travel agent is and always will be our go to person. This resort was our choice. There were six of us, hoping to visit this resort thinking.. WOW, it is going to be the awsome. Friends, family, new friends added a positive to our trip. Arriving April 12th, we moved rice. First room AC was not working. Second room..after complaining of the toilet leaking at the water shutoff valve..wrnhad lakes every day. Talked to the same people from the front desk, maintenence (who laughed at us) God forbid a woman knows about plumbing. Saturday to Thursday we put up with a room soaked with water. It was Thursday afternoon we were moved to our third room. Food..average, drinks..plenty to forget about the rooms. Staff, depends where you were in the resort and what color braclet you wore. Be your own judge.We will never go back. I rate this resort a 2

We wanted something low-key and relaxing, and Blue Bay was just that. From the very accomodating staff, to the delicious and varied food, and clean grounds, we could not have asked for more. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we made the most of our weather app and made do with what sunshine we did have. Our last full day there the sun did not disappoint, and we were able to spend most of the day at the beach. Majority of the people were older couples, and no rowdy large groups. The a la cart food was delicious and varied, but we even found the buffet to be fresh and varied too. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, stay here! And if you have any issues, the staff at Blue Bay will go out of their way to make sure you are happy! We will definitely go back to this resort!

The resort itself is outdated in a whole. Electrical outlets are sketchy and loose and not fitting correctly. The staff seemed unhappy in their jobs. No smiles most of the time. The time share people were hounds and were not happy if you didn't go to their 2 hour session. Most of the staff while working were on their phones if they were not helping? someone. The food was the same for breakfast and lunch but some foods were changed for dinner. Dinner buffet you seemed rushed to hurry and eat. You leave your table to get 2nds and come back with your table already cleared. I found the staff very unaccomidating. No willingness to make a person feel welcome at all. Would not go back and will not recommend this resort

Rooms were a big disappointment. Standard rooms are well below standard. I suspect this is because they want your upgrade dollars. The upgraded room ($’s) were better though the bathrooms are tiny and badly maintained. Both sink and especially the shower did not drain. Nice if you want water puddling around your feet…eew! Front desk people are sullen and uninviting. Food was great. The staff at the buffet were inviting, smiling and courteous (Special mention to Anelyina & Antonio who were especially attentive and helpful) Nice pools though not enough umbrellas for shade. Grounds were immaculately maintained. Entertainment was ok. Beach area is nice. A la carte were ok.

Spent 7 days here and I would for sure go back. Staff were great, did their very best to accommodate my mobility issues. Rooms were dated but clean and extremely comfortable. Guest Services Yuliana was a sweetheart and was there to help with whatever we needed, pool was clean,drinks were yummy, try the Superman it was my favourite drink, the VIP salesmen were not pushy, say no and they left you alone. Buffet had such a variety of food, no way you would go hungry ! Beach was small but also very clean. Vendors were a pain, just say NO loudly lol. Entertainment was the usual, karaoke was really enjoyable.

My wife and I had a nice 7 day vacation and really enjoyed ourselves. Rooms are old and would need better upkeep but they were cleaned everyday and ultimately we weren't there to stay in our room. The grounds were for the most part well maintained. The pool and surrounding area would need need some additional TLC with loose and missing tiles here and there. The staff was great, the food was good and the beach was beautiful.

Blue Bay Doradas in Puerto Plata D.R. is a lovely, small resort that still has 3 pools, entertainment every night and a beautiful large well kept beach. It is an older resort but very well maintained. The grounds are groomed and are very attractive. Our room was kept very clean and when they changed the sheets they changed the mattress cover too! No problem getting towels, face cloths etc and plumbing worked fine. Lots of hot water and good water pressure. The food was over cooked most times and after a few days it all tasted the same. They did get 2 new chefs in there for 2 days near the end of our vacation and boy what an improvement! So the only thing not up to par was the food. Specialty restaurants were better. But only 3 of them. We were there for 14 days and I was bored. Ten days and I was ready for home. The Playa Dorada mall is only a five minute, safe walk but very lacking and run down after covid. If you are looking for a quiet vacation this is the place. People were all very friendly and mostly Canadians. You can book excursions right at the resort. Our flight was with Air Transat and very good other than my video player didn't work so they gave me extra snacks etc on the trip down. Bus rides were good to and from the resort. Good vacation and glad to be home again.

Recently spent 10 days at this resort Our original room was upon the third floor, which was hard for us to get to. They changed it for us right away. We had a beautiful room on the first floor with a nice little patio. The staff was wonderful everybody so happy so much fun pools were great. Food was great. I would have no trouble recommending this resort to anyone.

This resort was good. The food , the pools, the beach, the cleanliness of the grounds and the entertainment was all very nice. The only disappointment was the room. It was so underpar. If the room was representative of the resort you would be very afraid. Good thing we had great weather so really only showered and slept in the room. I won't go back because of the room and it too bad because the rest of our vacation was really good. One other small complaint was twice a day you have to get out of the main pool for them to play volleyball unless your playing.

I really wish I could say otherwise but I had a terrible experience at Blue Bay Villas in the Dominican Republic. This place is dangerous, falling apart, and I was extorted during my time here. Before you ignore this review please check all the positive reviews and notice they are all written in Spanish and translated to English. This tells me they were written by staff or locals to boost the overall score considering that 95% of all guests are from Canada and would never write a review in Spanish... During my stay, I was injured when the shower glass suddenly cracked in half, causing a deep cut to my arm that required stitches and a tetanus shot. I was given very basic medical attention and instead of offering any sort of compensation or even an apology for the faulty glass cutting me, the management called the police and forced me to pay for the damages. When I say forced, I mean 4 police officers arrived and I was told by management "if you don't pay for the broken shower glass you will be arrested and taken to jail". $200 CAD for this. This is blatant extortion like I've never seen before. I wasn’t the only guest that dealt with being extorted by management/police either. Another young man was forced to pay $100 USD after accidentally breaking a small plastic 12”x12” sign when he fell over and another $20 USD for a plastic cup that cracked when it hit the ground. Like that's a joke let's be honest. It’s very clear this resort is looking for any excuse to squeeze money out of guests. I traveled with 10 people (5 couples), and every single couple had to be moved to at least one new room during our 7-night stay due to serious safety issues. Some had to move three or more times! Safes not attached to the walls, no locks on doors, faulty key cards that randomly stopped working and broken wall sockets, making it unsafe to plug anything in. We learned that the resort was purchased a few years ago to be torn down for apartment buildings, and since then, it's clear that absolutely no money has been put into maintenance or guest safety. The owners are clearly just running it into the ground while scamming as much money from guests as possible. The only good thing about this place was the waiting staff, entertainment team, and bartenders. They were absolutely amazing—friendly, hardworking, and genuinely doing their best despite the awful conditions. It’s a shame they have to work under such corrupt and careless management. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The management is corrupt, the resort is falling apart, and they are actively scamming guests while neglecting basic safety. Do yourself a favor and book anywhere else. There are plenty of better resorts in the Dominican Republic that actually prioritize safety and guest satisfaction. Overall, spend the extra couple hundred $ so that you can keep yourself and your family safe!

The grounds are beautiful. The walkways are not Conducive for wheelchairs. If you need a wheel chair do not go to this resort. Food is good in the buffet, but big line-ups for dinner. Beach club food is pretty awful. Rooms are very basic, not 3 star. However you only sleep in the room. Blue Bay Villas is strictly a resort. Doesn’t appear to be any local sightseeing there. The staff are very friendly. Some parts of the resort are tired and need renovating.

Although this an older resort showing it's age it's still a great place. The food was great in the buffet for all meals, the ala carte restaurants are delicious,our favorite was the Chinese. The pools are clean and the beach area has plenty of chairs and shade. The entertainment crew worked hard and put on great shows and fun activities. We will definitely return one day.

Grounds....well maintained Main building and restaurants are nice Pools and bars are good Beach is excellent... though a few more Palapas would be helpful. Food was good. A la cartes very good. Entertainment is subpar. Very little live music. Rooms...the biggest problem. They are small, poorly laid out, few drawers, weak showers and in need of maintenance.

Staff: The staff are generally friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Empress for being a great guide. However, some individuals try to push their own interests, steering guests toward their friends for tours. It’s up to visitors to use their judgment when choosing who to rely on. Transportation: One major concern is the hotel’s association with a dishonest taxi service. Despite Uber being available and safe in the Dominican Republic (as confirmed by my experience and discussions with others), the hotel discourages its use. Instead, they promote their own taxi service, which operates as a "taxi cartel" charging nearly 15 times the Uber fare. For example, I booked an Uber to go downtown for DOP 175 (approximately CAD 4). However, a hotel-affiliated taxi driver picked up my ride and demanded USD 30, claiming Uber underpays them. I refused, exited the vehicle, and rebooked an Uber just outside the hotel, where I successfully completed my trip for the original fare. According to an Uber driver, this scam is common—they accept Uber rides near the hotel, then demand extra money, leading guests to believe Uber is unreliable and pushing them toward overpriced taxis. The hotel appears complicit, with staff even recommending their taxis over Uber. I have escalated this issue with Uber, and they assured me they would investigate. For alternative transport, if you're comfortable driving, consider renting a car from Alamo or National, which offer rentals for as little as CAD 45 and provide pick-up directly from the hotel lobby. Unsurprisingly, the hotel does not promote this option. Food & Drinks: The food is average and lacks variety, especially in fruits and juices. At breakfast, the juice selection was limited to a single option each day. That said, the buffet staff were fantastic. Among the à la carte restaurants, the Italian restaurant stood out as the best. Regarding drinks, if you enjoy fruity and sweet cocktails, you’ll be fine. However, for premium spirits like whiskey on the rocks, expect to pay USD 6 per shot of JW Black or USD 80+ per bottle. If you’re particular about your drinks, I recommend taking a taxi into town to purchase a bottle at a more reasonable price. Rooms: Room quality varies. The hotel, nearly 40 years old, is in serious need of maintenance. Many rooms have peeling paint, broken TVs, and non-functional phones. However, since most people don’t spend much time in their rooms, these issues might not be deal-breakers. Entertainment & Atmosphere: The entertainment crew is great, and many guests speak highly of them. However, the hotel lacks a proper sports bar. The only option is a small, poorly maintained black-and-white-themed sports bar in the lobby, equipped with outdated 32” TVs—one of which is so broken that the LEDs are fully visible. Again, maintenance is clearly lacking. Another thing to note is that the hotel mostly attracts an older crowd. It seems more suited for retirees than younger travelers or families looking for an active and vibrant atmosphere. If you’re looking for a lively resort with a mix of age groups, this might not be the best choice. Location & Beach: The beach is beautiful, with nice water, but not the best I’ve seen. I’d rate it a 7/10. A common issue at this and many other resorts is chair hogging. Guests place towels on chairs early in the morning and don’t return for hours. Unfortunately, the hotel does a poor job of enforcing a two-hour no-show policy for removing abandoned towels. Final Thoughts: While the hotel has some positives, particularly its staff and entertainment team, it suffers from poor maintenance, lack of variety in food and drinks, a dishonest transportation system, and an older crowd demographic. If you plan to stay here, be aware of the taxi scam, consider alternative transportation, and manage your expectations regarding the facilities and overall vibe. It’s a quiet, relaxed place—ideal for older guests, but not the best choice if you’re looking for a lively and modern resort experience.

Hotel was a bit dated, but the food was great. Especially the Chinese restaurant & bechamel sauce at the buffet. Entertainment was nice and close access to the beach. Everyone was very friendly. Would come back. Great value for dollar.

The only thing good about this resort is that it is clean. This resort is in very poor condition. High pressure sales for a membership. There is a lot of alcohol that is not included and considered premium.

The room wasn’t ideal, had to change the room situation. The room wasn’t clean, it was outdated, shower was overflowing, lock on the door was broken. Definitely make sure you get a better room. Food and entertainment was decent.

This resort would struggle to hit 3 star let alone 4.5 You will not be able to recreate a single one of these photos while there. Food was disgusting, not served at safe temperatures, no variation and Al la carte restaurants were marginally better. Watered down generic drinks, worn out moldy beach equipment and the most disgusting dirty room you could imagine … stay away

Superior room wasn't up to par, showing it's age. Safe didn't work-promised it would be fixed but I was there for 11 days without (this is normally a $3.00 daily charge which I was not reimbursed for). All inclusive, but mini bar in room had 2 soft drinks and 2 beer which were free but never replaced.

The grounds are meticulously maintained but the buildings and rooms themselves are very tired and in need of some updating. The staff are amazing and so was the food! Plenty of space to spread out on the beach and lots of chairs available as well!

I recently stayed at the resort with my family (adult sons and mother) and we had a great time. The beach and pools were really nice and they host special events through the week, like an outdoor barbecue. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants but found the breakfast buffet light on options. The staff were very nice and accommodating, they really try to help you and ensure you are happy. The entertainment staff worked very hard to get everyone involved. The rooms are a little dated but clean and I was comfortable. I would stay at the resort again. I was really happy working with Trip Central for the first time and my agent Susan Snider was incredible! She made everything super easy and was happy to help me and answer my questions. My sons have names that made booking complicated but Susan ensured we had everything needed to travel easily, it was amazing! Overall we had a really nice trip!

This resort was very tired. We had to go to the front desk twice just to get a hairdryer. That’s a pretty basic item that’s supposed to be included. We were with a large group and several of our rooms leaked when it rained. They don’t even address that issue. There were toilet flushing issues and hot water issues. The air conditioning worked very well though! You had to be a VIP to get bacon after 8:00. You also had to ask for it. Why not put it out for all to have some. Just serve it on fewer days. The only real perk was the staff. Most of the staff were great, especially the animation team.

We never do reviews but we had such an amazing time we thought we had to! The GOOD…. Service was better than we could have asked for! The BAD…. The resort is a little dated and can use some tile work but extremely clean and well kept. The AMAZING…. FOOD!! Buffet was awesome morning noon and night and the snack bar always had fresh fruit, burgers, fries, dogs and some of the best chicken wings!! You will want to go back. We do and we will!!

We just returned home from a 2 week stay at Blue Bay Villas. We had a lovely time at this all adult resort. We have travelled throughout the caribbean and what makes this resort unique and memorable are the people they employ. They were very gracious and kind! We could tell how much they really enjoyed their work and the guests. They are all very hard workers! We especially wanted to thank Elvin, Balentina, Antonio, Anyelina, Indhiana, Yajara. Empress and Yuliana, Pablo and Molo. These individuals specifically wanted to ensure that you were enjoying yourself! The resort itself is about 40 years old . We appreciated the beautiful lighting and the design of the lobby. The grounds were beautifully kept with orange Indian jasmine bushes for colour. There was a quiet elegance of days gone by. We found the rooms to be dated; however the resort is starting renovations this summer. One thing of note for us was the bed. We found it very uncomfortable. The beds are very firm. Hopefully with the reno they will be replaced with a more comfortable mattress. The food was good with fresh fruit, fresh salads, grilled meat or fish being offered every day. There were also traditional Dominican dishes offered each day. We stayed in the quiet area by the spa and enjoyed the relaxing zen music. The beach was fine . They had lots of beds and loungers with covers. Vendors did approach us and we politely said no and they left. We didn’t find them to be harassing at all. We enjoyed the entertainment! Three of the nights there was a sax, piano player and singer in the lobby. The Mr. Blue Bay competition was hilarious. The entertainment staff worked hard each day to offer fun activities and events. Presently I would rate this resort as a strong 3.5 star because of the rooms, bed, safe and the 2nd person had to pay for wifi. We hope to return next year.

Preface: This is mine and my partners 1st all inclusive experience. Resort was awesome, great pools, amazing beach, good food, friendly staff. Rooms were dated but met our needs and were fine. We wernt there to be stuck in our rooms anyways. It was a mature resort, I would say we were on the younger side as an early 30 year old. Everyone that was there was respectful and nice. We met many people who were repeat traveller's to this particular resort, one couple as many as 8 times. It wasn't overly crowded, getting drinks and service at the bars was a breeze, lots of space in the various pools to carve out your own little oasis. The beach feature a nice assortment of lounges and beds and from the journey I made down the beach, easily stood out as having one of the better configurations and beach fronts. Finding a lounge space in the shade was also a breeze. If you're into excursions, a resort staff member, Luiz is the guy to talk to. Best deals going compared to what is offered online and through airlines. Many excursions are weather dependant, so book them ASAP. We did two, the snorkel/Catamaran adventure was top tier, highly recommended. Second was the Supper Buggies, definitely do not recommend after heavy rains, which is what we did. The main paths were washed out and we essentially drove through dirty ditch water alongside the highway. All in all, an awesome experience, and would definitely consider going back.

This hotel does need a few upgrades, but overall we loved it. It is a small Adults Only resort, well maintained, friendly staff, the food was amazing as well. The beach was busy, and chairs all packed in pretty snug as they had cabannas and loungers. Overall I would definetely go back and we heard that there are going to be upgrades done during the slow season (July to November). Cheers

Once would have been a great resort,,nice size and nice layout, food was good,,service was ok. Our room was Poor, old and in bad need up updates.No hot water in shower,,,ceiling leaked water through the pot lights, no working smoke alarm in room, took cover off to check for wires or batteries,,it had neither...cover hadnt been taken off in years judging by the dust collection. Fire prevention officers/departments need to make more visits to resorts like this The whole resort in general needed updates,but was well kept and clean

The staff was very friendly and the hotel room was clean. However the coffee pot was dirty looking the plastic was peeling off inside the pot. I had the front desk replace it but it was just as bad. Water bottles were very minimal and scarce. No access to ice for the room or clean water to brush your teeth and drink. The room was initially stocked w 2 small water bottles and access to more took effort. The air worked well in my room but I woke up incredibly dry mouth. The bed was extremely stiff to sleep on and the pillows were not soft at all. Unfortunately the buffet was not anything to boast about and the coffee machines throughout the resort did not work well. I was very surprised that I did not find a good cup of coffee at all throughout the resort. Unfortunately I will not return to the this resort.

We were at Blue Bay Doradas for 2 weeks in March 2024. The grounds, lobby, pools, dining area etc are well kept, however, the rooms are somewhat dated but clean. Food in the buffet, beach snack bar and specialty restaurants was good. Buffet, lobby, bar activity staff were friendly and attentive to guests. Room staff were not as attentive as at times did not leave towels, soap, coffee etc. but these things were provided when we called the front desk. This is an adult only facility but unfortunately there were some ‘adult’ children during our stay…not the fault of the resort, however, unacceptable behaviour should be addressed by staff.

First thoughts when arriving was good your staff at the front desk was very friendly. I requested a first floor room because of med issues and was l place in a second floor room no furniture no hair dryer soon of the wall sockets didn't work. Then had to pack up and bring everything down at 12 and store my luggage till 2 and then go back to see if they had a room on the ground floor.we got the a new room with furniture and a hairdryer and the refrigerator didn't work . One day on cleaning our room witch I tip the maids we got no sheets!! The food was not hot!!!! And the quality was sub par. Not enough chairs at the pool and at the beach you have staff at the beach being paid to move other guests personal belongings off chairs disgusting overall I was not happy but you do have a few shiny stars working for you Elvin in the dining room and Victor at the front desk

Everything was fine for us and the only one thing i must say that we booked for a superior room which didn't live up to our expectation such as no dresser with draws that we can un pack and lack of chairs in the room. Everything else were good if not to say perfect.

We stayed in this resort for 6 days. The resort was neat and clean. The staff were so polite and cooperative. There was a live music also on some days of the week. Beach was also so nice and there was a snack bar on the beach.

A very friendly resort. Everything was clean. We enjoyed the food. In the afternoon they always had lots going on around the pool. We couldn't get a safe for our room, they said most were broken, I feel like that is very important to be able to lock our valuables in a safe, but we managed. We had a couple issues with no towels for our room and pool towels were very hard to get. 5 yrs ago we stayed there it was awesome and this time was just ok.

The resort was beautiful. Located near a mall with many shops. The beach was clean and well maintained. We took a long walks along this beautiful beach. The food was awesome and in great variety. We loved it.

Room was not luxury but clean and fully functional. Bed was comfortable. Rooms have A/C. The resort is nice. The walk to beach is lovely with greenery ponds and wildlife. The beach is lovely. Lots of seating but must reserve a spot for early beach time but started clearing out about 1pm. Staff was friendly enough. Food was decent and lots of variety. No bacon at breakfast. A la carts booked up fast. Drinks were fine. House red was ok. House white i did not like. Nightly entertainment was mostly lacking during our 7 day stay. 3 nights were decent enough. Swim up bar closes at 6pm. Pools close at 7pm.( i hear its common) dont go here to party till all hrs of the night unless your with your own group. Crowd age varied alot with mostly people over 50yrs old. We werent there to party so it was fine for us. overall it was good for what we paid and we would return.

Outstanding resort from staff to cleanning personnel, grounds kept imaculate, rooms well kept, meals outstanding and great variety to choose from, friendly atmosphere, night activity well done and presented, easy to make new friends, I would consider returning again!

Great resort location, beautiful beach. Rooms were clean, food was amazing. The staff were all great and friendly. The entertaiment staff were amazing, always smiling. the were awesome at getting people involved. I would return and defenetly recommend this resort. Only Cons is not enough beach towels and beach chairs.

Just got back from a week here. The food was better than I was expecting, 4/5. The rooms are very basic, clean but outdated. If you’re picky about rooms/bathrooms, best to avoid. The grounds and beach are very well kept. The entertainment was decent for such a small resort, although there is nothing going on past 10/10:30. The music at the late night disco/ beach bar was pretty terrible. Way way too loud, and bad playlists. Most people avoided it. The rock and roll night was good, Miss Blue Bay was very entertaining. If you’re looking for a quieter resort that shuts down early, this is a good place. The spa pool and volleyball pool were nice, the swim up bar pool needed better maintenance/cleaning. Getting lounge chairs by the pool was an issue unless you got there pretty early. Overall a decent place for the price and the food/staff were great.

The buildings are esthetically pleasing and the grounds beautifully maintained. The staff is hard working, ( they work incredibly long hours), they are friendly, courteous and helpful. The food is pretty good with a wide selection of dishes. The night shows are good and fun. The down side is that management could do a better of job making sure visitor's needs are met in a timely fashion. We changed rooms once and in both cases the room safes boxes were not operating nor were they fixed. There are no drawers in the room and room towels were not regularly provided. The beach towels were not always available and beach chairs were in very short supply. The hotel is having a changeover of ownership and perhaps many of these issues can be attributed to this.

To start off, not one person we talked to was happy with the first room they were given. Every person had their room changed the next day. One couple had their room changed 3x. It's like they put you up in their worst rooms first to see if you'll complain. Door handle was falling off, safes didn't work, was right next to the stage so it was crazy loud all evening. Second room we got to was decent... safe still didn't work and the clock was broken in pieces on the nightstand, not sure why they even left it there... the rooms are alright. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it wasn't a big issue for us. The food is decent. There's a big issue with not having enough chairs on the beach. If you didn't get there by 7:30am to reserve a chair you probably won't get one. The staff was ok. They wont bend over backwards for you. They'll keep you waiting. Also, if you sign up for the Paradise Island excursion, they don't tell you it's a 3 hour drive each way!! Do not get sucked into the 'timeshare' building!! they will waste hours of your time and be EXTREMELY pushy!!! We met people there who have gone to this Resort multiple times cuz they love it so much, so to each their own. Would we go back.. probably since we now know how to navigate. It's decent for the price plus we met amazing locals who became our friends. 3/10 stars

Top notch were the employees, especially the lady that looked after our room. The grounds were in great shape and the bread was great at the buffet. The food otherwise was very average except for the A La Carte Asian which was very nice. There was something else wrong with the food as one person thought they had food poisoning in our group (there were 12 of us) and the rest claimed to have gastrointestinal problems except for myself. I am sure these people were correct in their problems as one is a nurse and 2 are doctors. Other downfalls at the resort were the safes for the rooms (most rooms did not have a working safe and were never repaired during our stay) and no deadbolt for your room door and in the case of my son's room, the handle came off inside his room. We paid for the Superior room and were surprised there was no chair in the room and 2 beds pushed together to make one. At the beach....very small and a continuous influx of people selling their trinkets or services. The resort also has too few chairs at the beach. I was witness to two women having a tug of war with a beach chair to try and determine ownership. The good part of this is the people that work at the beach will take away the blue towels from a chair if they are left unattended for too long. If you choose to argue then security is called in. Do I recommend this hotel as the next question asks....maybe. I will say no for now and you can be the judge.

We had a wonderful time! No problem getting a shaded spot at the beach or by the pool. The grill at the buffet served good food, but the prepared dishes were on the cool side. The staff was very dedicated to please their clients. Only had problems with the room keys, we had to go to the lobby many times to have them redone. They demagnetize very easily.

This is a resort with a good mix of quiet areas with more active options. The beaches were cleaned every morning and there was an abundance of chairs available at the pools and at the beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was a great variety of food at the buffet and the staff were attentive. I appreciated the different themes of the evening buffet.The excursions were well organized with knowlegable and friendly guides.There small details that did not affect the overall trip but could be addressed. The room key kept needing to be reprogrammed. The fridge nor the safe worked in the room. Not all the restaurants were available the week we were there. I would book another vacation at this resort.

The rooms in this hotel are not the first freshness. The floor, look and design are outdated. The ceiling in every room is leaking (my friends also talked about such a problem). Room cleaning is good. The staff is friendly and always fulfilled our requests. But the most spoiling of our vacation was Saturday, when a lot of local residents came to the resort. The staff immediately became very unfriendly. There was a long queue at the restaurant, we had to return after an hour and a half, when the locals had left. After, the locals showed themselves. They had fun too openly, and in the morning they left behind a mountain of garbage. We are not impressed with this resort. For this time we endured, but I will not come back here again. They are not worth 4 stars.

The people make this resort! Truly, some of the friendliest, wonderful people I've ever met! Shout out to Andy who went over and above! He is an incredible asset for Blue Bay! The beach was lovely, clean and warm ocean water. They have a smaller, quiet pool for people just wanting to relax and maybe read. The other 2 bigger pools are where the action is. It's a great option to have, depending on your mood. It's not a party resort and probably more than half the customers were over 50. The resort definitely has alot of fun dances and activities; it has a good balance of both. Perfect place for a week of relaxation! My one and ONLY complaint is the food was not good. Saying this, I can be a bit of a picky eater. I certainly ate but I found most food had way too much garlic. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows were great. Yes, maybe a bit dated but who cares? You're not in the room much! I would absolutely go back to this wonderful resort! Everything but the food was exceptional. I went solo and I am a female. I felt extremely safe and staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Nightly entertainment was great and the food was pretty good. Nice clean room with big balcony. Definitely have to return. Spa service was great too! The property is well taken care of and the beach is beautiful!

The food was great ( lots of choices)The bars were close by and always ready to help. The activities were on going always We met one director Kelvin who was quite ready to help us anytime we needed advice

Beautiful clean grounds, pool & beach area. The food was good, Ala carte Asian & Seafood, very good. Service was great. The hotel is old but kept very clean. The staff were excellent! Would return for another vacation.

The resort food is horrible. Absolutely nothing was hot. It is repetitive every single day. At breakfast time you could get a fresh omelet ihowever, for a 14 day stay there was only bacon available five of those days. The only fresh fruit you could get was watermelon. Very disappointed in the food for this resort. The 24 hour beach bar was absolutely disgusting. We were there for 14 nights and attempted to eat there in the afternoon and in the evening and the food was always dry if there was any food at all for a 14 day stay? We saw hamburgers once and they were cold and dried up. My wife got very sick and had to see the doctor for five days of our vacation and to try to get soda crackers was like pulling teeth. I ended up walking to , the mini mall to buy some for her along with Gingerale, as the resort only had Sprite. In addition, when I tried to go get something on the Buffet to bring her to our room to eat like plain white rice, they refused to allow me to take anything out of the Buffet area this is absolutely unacceptable. Housekeeping was hit and miss at best when they did come they would leave us one roll of toilet paper and two bath towels only as we notify them that my wife was sick and we wanted extra toilet paper, face cloths, and extra towels three days of our stay, They never even came to our room. Please note we left money on our pillows and gifts for the staff every single day we had to beg to get a bottle of water in our room and my husband ended up going to buy some at the mini mall because my wife was so sick. Would never go here again

Not sure how much room there is for comments here. Last refreshed in 2006, 27 years ago. Had to bring in another safe, mini bar with 2 small beers, one Pepsi, one sprite and 2 waters - for the first day only. Thereafter, just water. Two in the party noticed a marked difference when recalling their last trip here 4 to 5 years ago. Paid extra for 3rd internet for the week. Often out sporadically.. water drip from ceiling, mtce called. Placed a towel on the floor...Really?!! Water pooling in front of the toilet..figured out it was water leaking from shower glass not sealed to shower wall. Rarely left 2 face cloths, maybe 1 or 2 hand towels, along with bath towels..room not even made up one day. Phone in one room had no power in one room and NO instructions as to how to reach reception. Tried dialing 0 twice..nothing happened....pretty frustrating. Keys, despite being away from cell phones stopped working multiple times almost every day. Understand we are in a foreign country, but you cannot communicate with many as they know not much more than Spanish. Walls are paper thin.. Some food was passable, but all of it, except pasta bar and grill station, are maybe lukewarm...bacon is a scarcity and you have to ask someone to save some for you as it's gone first thing. Not all guests treated the same..often had to wait just to get water and coffee. A la Cartes were a disappointment. Since when is lobster bisque, just regular broth, with no lobster and maybe 1 shrimp? Nothing in the restaurants that looked anything like the promotional video in the lobby. Was I actually at the same place??!! Steak I got looked not much different than the so-called chateaubriand my sisters got! Biggest turn off is having the locals come in for the weekend and fill up the resort...not sure why anything like this is done. Have never heard of it?! The people here are friendly but they are at a real disadvantage trying to run the place..Most do try...Wonder if pool loungers ever get scrubbed...activities guy talks in Spanish...when all guests are English!! Really??!! I think they are trying, but I can tell you, I did not hear a positive review from anyone we spoke to. They all had complaints. Had to wonder when the last time anyone from Trip Central was there!! Planned renos are a paint job and paint furniture.. wow..needs way more than that...certainly disappointed with westjet website and lack of humans to speak to. No refund on baggage fees paid to and from due to a cancellation. Not happy!! Selected seats first thing Saturday morning (14th) at 9:20. Printed off confirmed seat selection. They were changed the next day...why is that done??!! Issue trying to select seats again on way home...21 DEF, tried many times..system issue...West jet techies can figure out why it did not work! My first vacation in 25 years. .Basically, the service normally provided by the airline has been dropped right into the lap of the customer....and I bet prices haven't dropped? I did not expect 5 star at all, realize this is a poor country, but the CEO of Blue Bay needs a wakeup call for this place. Bet he's never been!

Info: Room cleaning finished around 3 Can get a mojito at the beach bar, other bars said they didn't make them. Excursion to city hits main tourist points Don't expect "The Keg" quality from Steakhouse Bring a power bar for additional outlets There's a small clothesline in the bathroom to hang your bathing suit to dry Bathroom includes hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash Pros: Beach towels are large Beach beds are cleaned of sand Staff usually greet you Beach vendors are not pushy Variety of food at buffet Chinese restaurant was nice Standard room had two double beds, mini fridge, safe Cons: Some room towels are frayed. Nothing but a top sheet the first night, cover was added but had a hole in it. Housekeeping was spotty, sometimes they didn't bother picking up the decorative sheet from the floor or emptying the garbage. Music by the pool bar is quite loud Inconsiderate guests who talk/sing loudly late at night and slam doors.

The resort is small and very kept. The rooms are very outdated and lack furniture. No dresser and chairs in superior room. Lamps are so stained and old which they could easily replace. We informed them they definitely need a new toaster…so old. The food was good but never hot. I always got them to warm up my food on their grill. A very clean resort with amazing staff. Plenty of lounge chairs for everyone which was good. Xmas dinner was very nice with floating decorative flowers in the pool. Always plenty of beach towels. Overall good experience at BlueBay Adult only resort.

Grounds were clean, staff were wonderful, beach was beautiful. I would definitely return to this resort. They welcomed us and treated us as if we were family, also made my birthday feel extra special.

The grounds of the resort are beautiful. The resort itself is a bit dated and in need of some repair. Overall our stay was good. The staff here truly care about their work and made our experience awesome

This was my 3rd time staying there. I enjoy the size of resort (small). Staff are always very nice and accommodating. My only complaints would be that the night shows are terrible and this time around buffet restaurant was closed for dinner Monday to Thursday leaving 1 less option for dinner.

Entertainment staff was amazing and always had something for us to do. Food can get repetitive but you can always find something that’s good. Really recommend the catamaran Free Style. The crew was amazing and takes you out to 2 different spots to snorkel. Recommend booking with Cesar down by the beach bar.

Resort was very quiet in July, had a very relaxing stay. We did the Isla Bonita and City Tour excursions which were both very fun. Food was good, especially the Chinese restaurant was amazing, but the snack buffet at the beach could have been better.

The grounds were amazing. The staff polite, went out of their way for any needs. The entertainment was wonderful and friendly. Always felt inviting and relaxing. The beach is amazing!!! Restaurants varied and well prepared food. Pasta and omelette stations!!! yes please! wonderful. The rooms were always done well daily. Having a towel exchange for the beach towels was so handy. Had the photographer take some photos he was polite and the pictures were beautiful. Thank you Darlin! I have no negatives about this hotel. I went Solo as a woman and did not feel intimidated or ignored at the couples resort. Treat very well. Security was amazing and I will be back!!

My money was stolen the first day I arrived and my credit card was used without my authorization. Hotel staff was the only one in my room. The manager and security accused me of drinking and possibly allowing people in my room which was not true. I would recommend getting a safe as soon as you arrive.

We had rain for half of our stay but regardless of that we still had an amazing time. The food was good and we did an A La Carte pretty much every night. There are three options (seafood, steak, and Japanese) and then the buffet had a different style of food each night (Mexican night was the best in our opinion). For the A La Cartes, we enjoyed all of them and did a few of them twice. As for entertainment... the best I’ve ever had. The shows were so funny and everyone had the best time. They would really engage with the audience and include people each night. For our room, it was nice but definitely not fancy and could probably use some upgrades. It suited us just fine though. And the beach water wasn’t crystal blue but it was still beautiful. The entire trip everyone was so incredibly friendly... staff and tourists ... the mood was set for the day rain or shine, everyone had a great time together. Overall we would definitely recommend and already missing it after just one week back. Please enjoy this fantastic resort.

Overall stay pleasant and relaxing especially because of spa area. Great service! Missed the clear turquoise water of other areas because the ocean is agitated. Beautiful sand on wide beach absolutely wonderful for long walks. The rooms need a little love and refresher... Entertainment/stage area quite pitiful...

small well maintained resort. Adults only was great. Entertainment was great for a smaller resort. Food was very good and and was always easy to find lounge chairs at a resort that was fully booked. We had a great time and would considering returning to this resort. The price was just right. we had no complaints . Staff was friendly and was always someone available for service. We enjoyed a romantic dinner on the beach of lobster and champagne for a reasonable price.. Weather is always reliable we were very pleased overall.

I had a good time considering this small hotel is adults only I enjoyed some quiet times The fact being a small hotel was nice so don’t have a lot of walking from and to the beach or pools to ur room :) The evening entertainments were amazing and very interactive with audience which I loved :) The food was okay nothing special but will fill ur stomach enough the beach a bit too mall and problem finding chairs sometimes but I. General I would give this hotel 3.9 out of 5 I would go back for a low price trip for sure

Resort is in need of a few updates, food, staff, and rooms were better than expected. Entertainment was good. Entertainment staff very friendly would like to mention Emanuel, Veronica as my 2 favorites. Bartender #1was in the black and white bar Pabelo is your guy. He makes the tastiest drinks, we made some great friends. Adults only resort was great, wide range of age groups in attendance. Young to old

Blue Bay Villas Doradas is a smallish resort offering a surprising variety of experiences. Within minutes of our arrival, we felt very much at home and comfortably familiar with the entire property. The grounds were well-kept, including the beach. Our room, although dated and sparsely furnished, was large and clean --- the walk-in closet was a big plus. Its proximity to the entertainment theatre was a positive for us, although some guests might prefer a quieter location. Throughout our 2-week stay, we found the staff to be always friendly and aiming to please. The animation people were very creative and entertaining and often hilarious. The buffet offered a wide variety of wholesome healthy foods --- freshly baked breads, multiple salads, grilled meats and seafood, omelette station, fresh fruits, a variety of desserts (the choice of ice creams was always a highlight). The 3 a la carte restaurants generally offered good food with excellent service. Overall, we will have good memories of our vacation to talk about for years to come.

We do not recommend this resort. It is very old and needs a lot of work. The rooms and facilities are very outdated. The star rating should be maximum 3 stars at best. We were only given 1 room key per room which was very inconvenient. The argument was that this would save energy for the environment, yet the hotel does not recycle the countless daily plastic cups... we were given access to internet for only 1 device per room, and internet access could not be transferred at all to other devices. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling, the bed covers were not clean at check in, curtains were old and dirty. We needed to constantly ask the front desk to ensure covers are clean and floors were washed. They didn’t clean the floors or shower area until they were asked to do so several times. The food was ordinary, hit and miss at the buffet and sometimes not the best. Stay away from the seafood restaurant!! We were hit on twice by a security guard whose job is to make us feel safe...That being said, many of the resort employees worked very hard and tried to accommodate our requests. Perhaps there is just an overall difference in cleanliness standards. The servers and cooks at the restaurants are very sweet and worked very hard. We appreciated their kindness. They made our trip better.

We had an excellent vacation. Entertainment staff are amazing, very pleasant and get people involved. They ensure everyone has a good time. We had an fabulous one week vacation. We are sad to leave but we will be sure to return. The food was great. The beach and ocean beautiful. Was a pleasure to interact with all the staff.
