The good: installations look good and are maintained clean. It is a large complex with two hotels (Palace and Beach), the Beach being adults only if you want a different vibe even if you stay at the Palace. There is a lot to do: disco, bowling, golf, bars, restaurants, f1 simulator, etc, but some of them are not included. The bad: the food at the buffet was bad, sometimes overcooked, sometimes tasted as it was spoiled to the point I didn’t eat it, including some of the juices they offered. Food variety was also very weak, a lot of sausages in different preparation, if they ran out of something, they didn’t replenished or it would take forever to do so, so there were long lines for things like beef to grab some before it was gone. Chicken was always very dry and overcooked, Regarding the a la carte restaurants, they were ok, way better than the buffet, but nothing extraordinary. We went to the Italian one night and there was a roach in our seat, very bad start. I know in places with this type of weather is hard to keep insects out, but the roach at the Italian restaurant was not the only one, we spotted some more, including one in our room. We have stayed in two other hotels in Punta Cana before, no roaches at all in any of them. Some of the staff at the buffet feel like they hate being working there and that feeling is reflected in their poor service. Activities were not very good compared to other hotels. Night shows were not very impressive either. Unfortunately, the beach was full of sargassum so we couldn’t enjoy it as we wanted. Also, the smell from the sargassum can be very strong at times. I know the hotel has not much control on this other than cleaning as much as they can, but it was disappointing to find a beach that cannot be used.

The hotel was good enough, but the workers seem to be unhappy and often rude. When I came back from vacation, I talked to people and almost everyone had the same experience with Dominican Republic doesn’t matter to which hotel or resort they went to. This may be a cultural thing where they don’t know what means customer service.

Barcelo Barvaro Palace in Punta Cana is a true gem of luxury and relaxation! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and seamless check in Our ocean front room was clean and the balcony with jacuzzi overlooking the turquoise water and beach. The beach has pristine white sand and lots of loungers and the water is prefect for swimming and snorkeling the water wildlife turtles and fish baby stingrays lots to see and for the walkers you have miles of beach to walk in both directions. Dining was excellent from the buffets to all the a la carte lots to pick from. The golf course a PD Dye course was amazing and lots of activities for everyone there is too many to list casino to disco water parks this resort has it all for everyone you won't be disappointed. The service was very good sometimes the language barrier made things hard but with the interpreter app made thing a lot easier. it's a great resort for family's and there is an adult side as well. I also like to thank Shae Dureault out tripcentral agent for helping us again for finding another great vacation and we are looking forward to returning here.

Its located in a nice area. Its a very busy hotel, good value for price. beautiful beach, nice room facing Golf yard. generally speaking I would recommend it if you have kids and if you want to have a beautiful beach experience. Restaurants were really average...

The hotel was always beautifully kept and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were there for a business retreat with a large group and they catered well to our needs. The AV staff did an incredible job with all the media at our 3 day convention. The space was above our expectations and the setup was done in a timely process. The food was great.... however Strikers bar could be improved with their choice of food. It was our first night at the resort when we went there to eat. We were mildly disappointed to see the same menu 2 days in a row, with mediocre American food choices. Granted, we understand that it's a bar, but we were hoping to experience a mix of other food choices. We didn't realize that the Miramar Buffet was open at that time, which we much preferred for eating. The a la carte restaurants were top notch! The beach was wavy & choppy late in the afternoon and brought in seaweed along the shore, so the water wasn't as clear. However, it was cleared away every morning. The cleaning staff were friendly, happy, and did an amazing job! We asked to replenish our coffee, tea and water a couple of times and they delivered them right away. Just know that if you take the train it's every 15 minutes....bear in mind that's island time! That service was great, too. Thankful for it shuttling us to and from the convention center. So handy!

We absolutely loved the hotel. It was huge, clean and most of the staff was terrific. Beach was beautiful and pool was fun filled with activities. No complaints except not allowing us in the room until 3pm......we arrived at 7am. All in all great getaway for the week.

We spent 10 days at this great resort and enjoyed the activities, nightly entertainment, beach and pool. We had reservations at many of the a la carte restaurants and enjoyed each one. Looking forward to returning here next year!

Solo traveler looking for something easy. I did have a quick stay and honestly, kinda grateful. The beach is stunnnnnnning and very well maintained, just be prepared to fight for your chair. They are all gone well before 8:30 AM. The walk to the lobby is a walk, be prepared. I checked in late and there wasn’t an anyone to show me to my room. With multiple trips back to the lobby bc I was lost and couldn’t access the door, I was exhausted lol. Room was ok, but definitely needed cleaning! I do travel with my own sheets and thank god lol. The hot tub on the balcony was disgusting and I didn’t use it. Food was ok, didn’t travel for the food so the reviews were right, it’s hit or miss depending where you eat. Honestly - the sun and weather made up for everything else and the peace and quiet of my quick getaway was so needed.

Will absolutely return, which is the best recommendation I can think of. Trip Central's Monique, was a great help with the booking to help put our minds at ease by answering all our questions so we could enjoy our trip.

Interesting activities on site. The specialty restaurants are difficult to book for a decent hour. We prefer not to eat after 9 pm. We were not impressed by the Italian restaurant, the food was minimal and not very good.

The resort in general was good. It is close to the beach, the pools are nice, many activities to do. However food is not too good, specially the international restaurant, food lacks of taste, and the wifi is not good is your room is away from the lobby.

It’s a lovely place. Well maintained and very clean. Beaches are beautiful pools are really nice. The swim up bar pool was very dirty. This trip we didn’t go inl look like a cesspool unfortunately it was connected to the lap pool so I couldn’t do my swimming laps. The good news is there are many other pools to use that were perfect.The food was good unfortunately they always overcook their chicken and most meats. Food always cold, but it is hard to feed that many people. I’m sure they do the best they can. The furniture is really worn out in the common areas They need to replace all chairs and sofas really uncomfortable to sit on. The bedroom lights didn’t work and both sinks did not drain. They were also not fixed even though we brought it to their attention. overall we always have a wonderful time. We’re not really there for the food or fancy rooms. The rooms were cleaned very well every day. I have to say the people were much more friendly than they were the first time I was there. Happy to say I will be returning for my 65th birthday in April. Looking forward to another great week!!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a real palace! We really enjoyed our stay in this resort. Room , food, entertainment was excellent. Not much shade on the beach. It took a long time to check in. Still it was amazing and I would recommend to all my friends!

Wonderful resort. Immense building, amazing architecture, everything is elegant, luxurious, clean and has nice stores. Food was good, many items to choose from; however, we did not see fish except for 2 nights when they had sashimi but not fried of grilled fish like we had in other Dominican resorts previous times when we visited. One point that needs quite a bit of improvement is communication. They hardly spoke English, and we do not speak Spanish. We could not get clear answers to any of our questions. And another point that was very disappointing was a very poor internet connection. The only place we could sporadically communicate from was the bar or the theme restaurants. Not even in the room, let alone on the beach. If I recommend this place to a friend, I will point out the minuses.

Hotel was clean and nice rooms. Close to the airport is nice. Amazing beach with palm trees everywhere. Pool was nice. Unfortunately the big pool was closed for maintenance. food was good. Not great. overall I would say 7.5 / 10. I would return again.

We don’t have any hot meals. Food was always cold at any restaurant we went. Also was unable to communicate with any staff as they didn’t understand English and no one to ask that could help us. I wouldnt return to this resort.

My Personal Rating: 7.5/10 for groups, 7/10 for solo travellers or couples. Big hotel, good facilities including SPA. Food is ok, no complaints. Most of the à la carte restaurants are fine. The ocean in August was very warm, but it was also filled with smelly weeds everywhere. People worked every morning to clean it, and we mainly used pools. In my opinion, the staff are friendly, although for a better experience, it would be beneficial to speak Spanish. Overall, it is a positive experience, but the value is overpriced.

We really enjoy everything, was a magnificent experience from the beginning till the end. i will highly recommend it to my friends. staff were very kind and helpful i will suggest for the price to have gazebos on the beach area.

We were very impressed with the complex as a whole. The cleanliness was excellent. This is accomplished by an amazing group of people. Anywhere or anytime we interacted with staff we could not have been treated better. Really friendly people who want to make your experience a most enjoyable one.

Buildings, property and pools very well maintained. Delicious food with a variety that will thrill your taste buds! Gorgeous beach. High quality golf course that entertains and challenges and a well appointed clubhouse for post or pre-round meals and drinks. Impressive attention to detail with beautifully furnished lobbies that are comfortable and perfect to enjoy an espresso or cocktail.

This hotel was great , Very large but you don't feel crowded. Many activities Golf, pickleball, tennis, Beach and pools are beautiful. Staff very helpful rooms are clean and spacious. Many choices of places on site to eat. Casino and sports Bar, Spa is great and shows are entertaining

The Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a beautiful resort with lovely beaches and pools and lots and lots to do. The food is just ok. And there is not a midday poolside or beach snack bar to get food. you have to go to buffet and that's kinda the only thing I didnt like. Would defo recommend though. Wonderful vacation.

We stayed at Barvaro Palace from Jan 23-30, 2025 and it was underwhelming. The room was a junior suite with the jacuzzi which was nice. There was a door I guess for the room next door but you could hear everything. The wash area is not a room, the only thing separating you from the rest of the people in your room is a few mirrors or a frosted door which you can hear and see everything. Just odd. The hotel lobby was beautiful. No issues with staff or check in. We were in building 6 so it was a long walk everywhere. The food was dreadful. We tried the seafood restaurant one evening it was so bad we couldn’t eat it. I had the lobster ravioli which look like a big heavy sheet of pasta. We didn’t see any filling. Just couldn’t eat it. The buffet was the cheapest foods around. Rice , mashed potatoes, pasta mainly. The pizza was good but it was always out so you would wait. Anything good or different was very limited and gone quickly. I was unwell after one evening and couldn’t leave the room the whole next day from an upset stomach. It is just so big and impersonal, more attention paid to the casino and shopping area. Just not what is shown on videos Would never go back

The beach and grounds are spectacular. Always plenty of loungers and shady spots. The food was good. I enjoyed the buffets. Japanese a la carte is a must. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a great time.

I like to book through trip central because they are easy to deal with. We've been to the Caribbean 20 times at least over the years and this is the first resort we've stayed at 3 times, different room classifications and levels, ocean view, ocean front jr suite and ocean front suite. Premium level twice. We go to this resort for safety, food variety and golf. Go premium if you can.

Our family went to this resort, looking to have a wonderful experience. It was a huge disappointment! The food was not good at all. Extremely salty food and poor taste. One night that we ate in the Japanese restaurant was particularly bad! The food was overloaded with salt and the atmosphere was too loud, way too much noise. The servers also tried to limit the quantity of food you could order at the à la carte restaurants. This was supposed to be all you can eat, but they wanted to limit you to a certain amount of food. Very annoying! The language barrier was a huge problem With the staff. They didn’t understand what you were asking them and they couldn’t help you because they just couldn’t speak English for the most part. Very frustrating experience. The cleaners in charge of the room did not do a good job. The only thing they did well was make the bed, but they couldn’t even clean properly. Poor hygiene. We were over 20 family members that went there and almost half of us fell ill with vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Very bad experience, my daughter and I and several others left there sick! The Staff were not friendly, warm and helpful. Check-in took too long, there were not enough staff at the counter to attend to us. Even when you complain, nothing is done to make you feel better or compensate you. The nightly live entertainment was Totally unimpressive. Again, much of it was in Spanish so you couldn’t understand it.

This is the absolute worst resort I have ever been to. I did not have running water for 2 days. The staff stole my camera and went through my belongings. I had the do not disturb sign up and they still came into my room while my girlfriend was naked. 90% of the staff are so rude and have the biggest attitude problem. I would not spend my money on this resort. Spend your money wisely, go to Jamaica or Mexico...

This hotel is just massive. The grounds are very well maintained and has one of the biggest pools I’ve ever seen. There are many restaurants to choose from with excellent food. The French restaurant was one of my favourites. There is always something to find at the many buffets although they are very busy. The beach is fantastic and the water unbelievably warm. Had a great experience overall. Employees speak mostly Spanish, and understand very little English. Learning Spanish would be a great asset. Would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone.

The grounds are lovely and the waterparks and beach fantastic for kids. It is a very large resort and a trolley is provided to take you to and from the beach and eating areas. We ate mostly in the 2 buffets since fixed a la carte dining times don't gel with toddlers. We have been to the DR annually for 25 years and not sure I would come back to this resort. The main drawback for us for the organization and food selections for the 2 buffet restaurants. Our room locations were great to enable us to walk to wherever we needed - 8654 superior room which was close to the family duplex our daughter/grandkids had. The rooms were a little dated but had everything you would need - maid service was fantastic. 2 of our group played golf and enjoyed the course. Elevators are provided to get to higher floords as needed. The theatre area was lovely with lots of seating. I needed to use the onsite medical clinic ClinicAssist. They are very professional, have any medications you may need and the staff speak English well.

We loved everything. So much for the entire family to do. Lots of food from around the world. The staff worked so hard and were so kind. Very clean and set up well. Highly, highly recommend to anyone.

The resort is huge but has a beautiful adult only pool. There are 2 buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch and if you don't reserve a la carte restaurants for dinner, you are dining at the buffets for dinner as well. The food at the buffets and the a la carte's is mediocre. The staff is super nice.

The resort was amazing , the staff were very friendly , the buffet food was ok not bad But Al Cart restaurant were amazing you just need to book in advance. The entertainment team were amazing we had so much fun with them , special thanks to DEIVI and Carlos can’t thank you enough, you guys made our vacation special. The room were clean , the hotel washrooms were so clean I was so surprised.

This was our first repeat visit to an all-inclusive after going to several and the Barcelo Bavaro Palace did not disappoint. The first time we stayed at the Barcelo Beach Adults Only and found the Palace better in many ways. There was a lot more going on and is a bit of a walk from the Adults Only. More lively, closer to the large theater (although there is a small one at the Beach), shops, a la carte restaurants, gym, spa, sign out for water toys, etc. Unless you just don't like kids around, the Palace is the much better choice. Guests of both sections of the Barcelo can use some amenities interchangeably but just be aware that there are some quirky restaurant exceptions. No need for any sort of Premium upgrade. Room- Our room location was superb, 4218. Closest block to all the amenities. Literally a two minute walk to everything. Ocean view. The room itself was a junior suite but the design was a bit quirky and may not be everyone's cup of tea with it's linear layout and lack of privacy when using the shower and toilet. The shower stall leaked and the toilet did not flush efficiently but those were manageable inconveniences. The staff did an excellent job cleaning and the room was fairly well sound proofed. The hot tub on the balcony was effectively a square bath tub but came in handy one night when it was a bit cooler and we had a bit of rain, otherwise it probably wouldn't get used. The room was a bit musty but improved slightly with the proper fan and AC usage. The beds were very average and the pillows were not comfortable at all. Lots of storage space and a working safe. Beach and Pools-The ocean was excellent for swimming with a gradual slope, powdery sand and no rocks or seaweed. It went on for as far as the eye could see in either direction. The entire bay was protected by a reef about a km out which made it perfect for swimming, kayaking, and sailing. The colour and clarity of the water reminded us of what you would see in Tahiti or the Maldives. There were several large pools scattered throughout the resort, all crystal clear and a good temperature for the entire 10 days we were there. Service- good but varied of course as to who was doing the serving, how busy it was, and how upscale the restaurant was. We tended to leave behind tips in appreciation but never once got the feeling that the staff were expecting it. The Japanese restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. The chicken was a little on the tough side, bar service was poor, and the chef who makes or breaks the experience with their enthusiasm, was not what we were hoping for and expecting. The service everywhere else was generally adequate to excellent. Bars and Restaurants-The Seafood restaurant was a disappointment with food quality, but other than there and the Koyoto, the food was quite good. There was always lots to choose from. If there was something we didn't like we just left it and moved onto the next. No problem. Same with the drinks. A great place to try new drinks because if you don't like them, no harm no foul. We were able to sign up for all the a la cartes no problem so we only ate dinner once at the buffet. There was lots to choose from at the buffets for breakfast and lunch. Dinner at the golf course was a nice change and the only spot in the hotel to experience breakfast off the menu. Most restaurants also had a huge salad bar to compliment the bevy of choices off the menu. We found the Spanish restaurant the best and ate there twice. It was the closest you are going to get on the resort to 5 star dining and service. The sangria there is to die for. Bars are scattered all over the resort. Carey's was a favourite hang out but they could have done a lot more for music other than the lame white piano on autopilot occupying centre stage. The casino had a live piano player which just seemed to make a lot more sense. We soon caught on that if you asked for the higher end spirits the bar tenders would happily accommodate (at no extra charge except for the Grey Goose), otherwise they just dumped in the cheap stuff which definitely affected the quality of the drink. Entertainment-The team worked hard to put on a show that's for sure. There was different entertainment every night of the week (and started to repeat of course week 2). There was everything from the typical Micheal Jackson ( one of the best we've seen) to a circus act (always one of my favourite but this one just seemed to lack the luster). The rest of the nights there was a lot of dancing and really not a whole lot else going on, except for the terrific effort they made all day for Valentine's Day and Super Bowl Sunday. There was always entertainment by the pool in the afternoon and of course lots of water and land sports for you to engage in on your own. Recreational activities- Two paddle tennis courts (a novel and cool idea), a few tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, a mini golf course (with a concrete surface...not good...what's up with that!), bocci ball, shuffleboard, kayaking, catamarans, table tennis, pool tables and bowling (for a fee), golf course, very cool water parks for the kids, a beach to walk for miles, great swimming in the pools and ocean, etc, etc. Summary- Pros...Great beach, a la carte restaurants access and quality, on site golf course, pools, standard of service and cleanliness, recreational activities, 20 minutes to Punta Cana airport. Cons- some isolated food quality and service. Some quirky room designs. The fact they allow smoking in too many places. At the buffet they should only allow smoking on the bottom level of the patio and not the main level. Smoking should not be allowed in the main common areas and should be kept to their designated rooms/areas. Not necessarily a con but be aware that a lot of the resort staff speak very limited English. Communication can at times require a bit of patience.

There is no better resort in the DR for golf Food and service excellent Golf course is in resort, no travel required Excellent Casino Bavaro Beach needs no introduction Beautiful grounds and buildings Plenty of activities High quality rooms, very good maintenance Bars and restaurants 4* plus Massive buffet, always stocked Excellent pools and sports facilities, spa, gym Kids have their own play pool away from the adult pools And most of all the people are fantastic We go there every year and will soon change to twice a year

Resort has thousands of employees tending to cleaning and maintenance. Last trip there I fell in love with the chocolate donuts and wrote about it. I think too many people are eating them and now they seem to run out. We go there for golf and the beach. Both are excellent. The beach is a 2.6 km if you walk it back and forth. Beautiful. The golf course has extremely challenging holes with the last three on each nine dealing with trade winds, water and length. We upgraded to premium which gets access to a different spot for breakfast and lunches where to service is excellent and the menu is upgraded. I actually had Filet Mignon for lunch one day. The spa is neat too with very spa type toys... Hot and cold plunge pools. Saunas, steam baths etc. less populated. It's one of the best and probably the biggest resort on the island...lots of loungers on the beach and the gym is adequate We've been to Dominican Republic a dozen times at least and even after twice we'd still go back.There are good and much more thorough tours on line. But go here you'll be getting good value for your money.

Family of 3 (mom, 8 yo, and 4 yo) had a fantastic week in the sun. The kids loved all the water slides and the beach. We spent our entire days outside swimming and exploring. The Kids Club (child minding) was a wonderful break for parents and fun social activities for the kids. The food was bland but we always found something for everyone to enjoy (including lots of ice cream!). This was a repeat visit for us (we went 5 years ago). Resort is still in good shape with lovely green grounds. Lots of fun and relaxation so highly recommend to all families.

The beach and meals were fantastic, easy to access everything. The location from the airport was very convenient and the restaurants at night were very, very good. If anyone stays here, please book the restaurants early and access them all.

If you are looking for a resort to bring young children, this is the place. We went 10 of us four were young children 8,7,4 & 3 and specifically chose Barcelo because we had been to the one in Mexico twice and loved it. The grounds are beautiful but did not like the buffet layout, two side by side which caused chaos trying to get your food. Speaking of buffet, did not care for the food at the buffet, the a la carte which you get 4 per week were much better and less hectic. This holiday was a family trip, our two sons and their children and did not disappoint, the young kids enjoyed the water park, Barcy club, numerous pools and of course the ocean.

The check-in and check out is a disaster!! They don't put enough people behind the counters for the amount of people that are checking in or checking out. the wait times are very frustrating and very slow, not a good start or end to a holiday. the grounds are nice, food is good,

It is a nicely located resort, .pretty well arranged . It has good facilities like pools, beach , kids club, tennis courts etc It need to be proactive for keeping these facilities cleaned. Food in the restaurants need to be well cooked and should have various different varieties.

All in all great resort with a wonderful location offering lots of different decent food and entertainment options. Not sure if you could find a better resort for the price in the Dominican therefore I strongly recommend it.

We stayed here for 4 days . It was our 1st time travel. The beach the pool was nice and we felt safe while we here. The hotel room wasn't big and so dark. We couldn't sleep and relax because the staffs started to clean and maintain the garden area by 8am( it was so annoying). The food is ok to eat( no coconut serve for free and no seafood at well even we went to seafood restaurants). For the hotel, they was scam us with the late check out for $60USD which unnoticed and made us upset a lot. I dont think we will come back here again in thr future.

The resort is beautiful the grounds and rooms are amazing the only problem is the food is not tasty the staff at the restaurant ignore you if you are not Spanish speaking and the staff in the buffet area and a la carts don’t speak any English also they also had an international night where they did dancing from Dominican from Spain from Brazil from the USA but nothing from canada I guess it’s a small world

Room smelled moldy, food was disgusting and tasteless. The restaurant are worse, service was slow. The steak house was a joke. The resort itself is not too bad! If you enjoy food, this isn’t the resort for you. However if you enjoy tasteless seasoning free food. You will love this place. Makes me wonder if all these positive reviews are fake.

The resort was amazing with so many amenities. Food was very good and the space was beautiful for pictures. Had a very fun time at the pool and entertainment at night. Staff was very accommodating as well since we needed to switch our room

The hotel is very nice and clean. The grounds are impeccable. The beaches are beautiful with lots of palm trees for shade. The pools are clean. The buffet food is very good with lots of variety. The theatre is lots of fun with great shows. The drinks are plentiful with lots of choices. We didn't enjoy the seafood restaurant, but the Steakhouse, Japanese and Mexican restaurants were good.

We loved our stay at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. We stayed in one of the oceanfront suites, with the water and jungle just steps away. It was picturesque. We were premium level members, and found the service, the food and amenities of that tier absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. As for covid protocols and such, they had hand sanitizer in elevators and around restaurants, and the open air facility certainly helped keeping a fresh flow of air. There were plenty of servers and support staff, so I'd say they recovered quite well considering. Even the beach was cleaned every morning. Very nice vacation spot if you have a family or are up for a party. Not really suitable for a zen-like vacation.

Went here on my honeymoon, I asked at the front desk about the honeymoon package and the worker was kinda rude about it, never ended up given the information about the honeymoon package. But overall it was a good week. But i was also surprised by some of the workers not friendly or seemed to want to be there, entertainment wasn’t the greatest, food was good, but service wasn’t the greatest it took forever to get food at the restaurants, was ignored a few times. Wifi was great you could get it pretty much anywhere! They had a train to get you around, I do wish they had it labeled because it went to the adult only side too and you never knew where you would end up.

My husband and I have been to this resort 10 times and always have a great stay. He loves the golf and I enjoy the spa. The grounds are well kept, the rooms clean and the beach is amazing. The only complaint I have that has become more of an issue as time goes by is being able to get dinner reservations at a decent time. We tried to book our a la cartes they day we arrived for the week and had a difficult time getting anything before 8pm or anything being available at all. The buffet has a good variety but I did find that serving utensils were sometimes missing or people were using the same utensil for multiple dishes. Due to food allergies and sensitivity I started using my own utensils from the table. The staff work very hard to keep things running smoothly. This year we travelled during US spring break and will definitely make sure we do not travel during that time again.

Close enough from Punta Cana airport. Booking for restaurants was a bit difficult. Checking in & out took long time juts like any other resorts… Golf checking in for early morning took extra long as some redundancies of process.

Huge property, well maintained. Went during March break, so was very busy. Food was great, lots of options. Pool, bars, beach, everything was fantastic. Staff were very helpful. Rooms were good, but layout a bit strange. Open washroom/shower might take a bit of getting used to. Hot tub on patio was a great treat.

The hotel and grounds were kept very clean. The food was lukewarm at best. The buffet was sub par, the restaurants were ok. Our biggest complaint was that other than the show that started at 10 pm nightly there was no other entertainment.

The hotel is very large but very easy to get around. Clean as can be everywhere. Easy to get your a la carte reservations and the restaurants were excellent. Enjoyed laying by the beach or around the various pool areas. Excellent resort!!

Overall, a very nice resort. Ideal for families and large groups, lots to do on the resort for everybody. Good restaurants and food was good, but not dynamic, but had lots of food. Once you are familiar with the layout, it is easy to get around. Staff was excelleent, friendly, very accommodating and very polite. Easy check-in and any problems encountered were not an issue with the staff. I highly recommend the resort for vacations.

I would recommend going elsewhere. Staff don't speak english well, it was too crowded, Wifi was poor around the pool, and they did not even have containers to let you take food out of the buffet. Buffet was super crowded. Joint room reservations were not honoured so if you have a big group and want to stay together or around the same complex, good luck with that. Staff don't wait on you and there is no welcome drinks at the reception. Entertainment/ shows are sparse and there's not even good music by the pool and music around the pool is on and off maybe for only 1 to 2 hours each day. There were rarely any spoons to eat your soup and by the time the server got your spoon your soup was cold. No room service and all other activities (pool, bowling, air hockey etc) are pay only. The DJ sucked, playing the same music every night. The only good thing was the artwork around the resort and the individual hot tubs per suite. There are not enough lounge chairs. Food at Coral takes forever to come.

So food is not good at all! Me and my son were sick for a few days because food seems to be undercooked half the time. Staff is waiting to get tipped to serve you. Make no effort to please. I actually tip everytime and still had some bad service. At check out they charged my visa even though I paid the balance in cash for room charges. Then I call to rectify this and no one seems to speak English. Tripcentral did not help me with this at all which I expected them to considering I booked through them. Hotel is a beautiful facility and beautiful beach. Expected a lot more. I guess you get what you pay for.

Overall our stay was very good. Check in was slow and should be improved. Food was ok. More staff needed in serving areas and tables and cleanliness could improve greatly. People are friendly and helpful. A la carte was rushed and needs to be upgraded to a more relaxed experience. House wine is poor. Grounds are immaculate and beautiful.

The hotel itself is nice. The grounds are perfect. The room is nice (assuming you have oceanfront) - the shower was over flowing but could just have been our room The staff at this hotel speak little to no English (its odd and somewhat frustrating) the food is shockingly bad....like as bad as Cuba (beware) - the reviews are very real People should really avoid booking this resort until they fix this issue also - there is NO food options other than the buffet and evening restaurants...also very odd...they need ocean front food options and food by the kids/family pools (so simple) - even just pizza, fries and burgers/nachos (so very simple) The kids/family areas are awesome - we would def come back IF they improved the food and have it available on the Ocean and by the kids/family pools otherwise we would not come back

If you have children between ages 10 to 17 there is not much for them to do. Bowling, pool and the pirate ship water park are not included in the all-inclusive resort. $15 person per game to bowl seems a little expensive to me. The food was alright out of 7 days I got bacon once and had to ask for it, it wasn't a help your self to it. The sand fleas were really bad, I was covered in bites so don't forget your bug spay. And finally the bartenders were just doing their job. No smiles no fun, no thrill to be at there job whether you tip or not. Seemed to me like the tips don't go into theirs pockets! The hotel is clean and the grounds are kept nice. One more thing if you don't like to do alot of walking then this place isn't for you.

The grounds and facilities were great, the beach (amazing) is the best feature of the property. Most staff were friendly and the grounds were kept in immaculate condition. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, the billiards and Casino and listening to their piano player. It was too bad that the disco was closed. We were disappointed with the food, even taking dukoral before the trip our family of 4 got sick while we were there. We were told while we were there that the room service is highly recommended over the buffet....wish we knew that when we booked it. The a la carte is definitely recommended but I would not recommend the steak house. The Japanese and French restaurants were our favourites.

Enjoyed the exercise routine The a la carte restaurants were good. The sandy beach was great for walking. There was a bit of a problem with the toilet running on. There was water leaking onto the balcony from above. Sort of fixed

First of all the hotel is very big, which could be a good thing or bad thing to people. We like it because you don’t feel you stuck in a complex and there are many things to explore in it. Pro: Relatively new renovation for the junior suite we stayed. It is in a good size and balcony has a good view for the ocean. Food variety is good. The quality is not great but ok. Service is good. Beach is the best and pools are nice but could be busy for certain hours. Has a good golf course although we are not golfers. Con: TV is old and quality of picture is bad. I know it doesn’t matter that much but sometimes you do need to watch something (like Oscar live😀) Phone in the room never works At one of the restaurants, Mexico, my wife had stomach issue after a fish main course. Staff can’t speak English sometimes. Instructions for checkout/shuttle bus to airport/ Covid test are not clearly listed Overall we are happy we can have a great vacation after 3 year Covid lockdown!!

This is my 3rd visit,obviously,I like it here.Golfing is great !! The people working there are all very nice.I wish something could be done for the hoards of inconsiderate people that "reserve" there beach chair with a towel.This is ridiculous,there is no one on the beach,but no chairs.You should stop this,some how,disallow this.I have been to places that do not allow this.Otherwise food,rooms were great,and everything else.Thanks Terry

Rooms, food, golf and staff are fantastic and everything on the resort is wonderful except the casino where they are aggressive and speed up the spins and deals to a point where it’s not an enjoyable experience. Very disappointed in this, as we would of liked to of spent an hour each evening before dinner.

We stayed for a week at Barcelo Bavaro Palace...there was four of us in total. Two of us were food poisoned from the buffet and it was so bad that one of has to go to the hospital. We are certain it wasn't from water because we were careful to only drink bottled water. The beach here is beautiful and the rooms were clean but the food isn't great and clearly there are issues with cleanliness and food storage/preparation. In general, the service isn't good anywhere at the hotel.

Hotel was great, pools were fantastic, food was ok but nothing to write home about the buffets were very low in selection of food only the a la carts we ok The premium rooms we had were fantastic great ocean view Beaches are poor has too much sea weed couldn’t even get in ocean and no protection from sun with chairs on the beach

It exceeded our expectations. Lots of things to do. A variety of great spots to eat, a 24 hour sports bar. The beach and pools had great variety. Could swim in the ocean even on the windy days with reef as protection. We would be great for those with kids with the water park. We would definitely recommend it!

This Is a very good resort to stay at, it's always being cleaned/tidy, staff are helpful and kind, food was very good, and there is a lot to do if you don't want to just relax at the clear blue beach or 4 pools.

Fourth time enjoying the Barcelo Palace.Well maintained, and clean. Rooms are very nice especially building 5 & 6.Never a problem finding a private spot even though it is a very large complex.Pete Dye Golf Course is well maintained and fun to play.Good variety of holes. Staff is friendly and hard working.

The Barcelo resort complex is very large,but as it is spread along the beach,(it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the beach from one side to the other) there is no feeling of crowding,and never a problem of finding a lounge. The rooms,public areas,grounds, pools,and amenities are very clean and very well maintained.Staff are friendly and helpful. Good variety of specialty restaurants.Steakhouse,Italian,Japanese,and French are tops.Large buffet with good variety of North American and Island dishes.Plenty of polite,friendly wait staff. Would return.

This place is amazing for kids and adults, lots and lots to do. The food is alright. And the entertainment Is really good as well. I only wish they had like a beach bar/snack bar. This was really the only thing I wasn’t to thrilled about.

Very family friendly. Beach was fantastic. Jr suite very close to everything, beach, pool, buffet, main building. Fun in the casino where only free wifi available. Food was good, nice variety. Would go back again!

The grounds, pool, beach, amenities, restaurants, casino, and disco were all really nice. The Golf course was in great condition and very easily accessible. the a la carte restaurants were the best I’ve had in DR. Having said all that, the rooms and balconies were not as advertised. Upon arrival our upgraded junior suite’s floor was soaking wet with hair and dirt pushed around by a mop. Was much tighter quarters than depicted online, even though the location by the beach was nice, I would upgrade another step. Room service is an extra charge!? Trying to order drinks to the room, they would limit us to 6x 8oz warm beer cans. Trying to stock up on cold cans in our fridge to avoid draft was impossible, and got hung up on a few times trying, even though we paid for it. Beyond that everyone was friendly and it was a really nice resort.

Judy was very helpful in meeting all our needs of having a close golf course, beach, pools and restaurants. The alacarte food was great, we had the Japanese, Mexican and steakhouse. The casino was also great fun. Thank you!

The property is beautiful and they have spared no expense in both building and maintaining it. Obviously caters to families and the set up is great for kids, with beach, numerous pools and easy access eating facilities. For parents, golf set up is terrific if you golf and casino is user friendly if you are a gambler. Would not necessarily recommend for adults with no kids, but they have an adjacent adults only resort. They have an army of staff but service is uneven at times.Buffet food was decent but not great, which seems the norm at these large all inclusive resorts. The a la carte restaurants all have beautiful interiors but quality of food even there was uneven. Overall the four adults and four kids in our entourage had a really nice week.

This resort thought of everything when it comes to what makes a vacation special. We did book premium and found checkin process smooth and welcoming....oceanfront room stunning to open curtains and be right on the ocean! Pools that are more like small lakes weaving along parallel to the extensive beach with warm shallow water.....ample beach loungers everywhere.....water sports, and free non motorized watercraft......something for everyone. Though we are a retired couple we still enjoyed the 18 hole mini putt as well as strikers Bar with great pub food , massive tv, pool tables , bowling lanes, air hockey....and other games when a break from the sun was desired. In addition the shopping concourse is very nice with a good number of boutiques..this large central area also includes the buffet restaurants, a la carte venues , casino, and huge stage production area. Premium quests can use hydrotherapy area in spa daily for free which was wonderful to have a hot tub then plunge beneath the outdoor hydrotherapy treatment sprays...which overlooks the other pools and the beach. The gym is well equipped and free as well with classes in yoga, spin classes...Down by the beach there is daily water volleyball and beach volleyball , Zumba and water aquafit classes. The staff are fun and do a good job of getting people feel comfortable to join in. The Food overall was great, beef always tender, views from balcony’s of buffet restaurants are oceanfront......so nice,our preference over being indoors at fancier a la cartes. We did a few a la cartes but found the buffet has a great selection and if outside the view was just so beautiful.... all food was very very good......the wine not one we could enjoy.....so stuck to champagne and beer. Staff were very pleasant and easy to joke with.....mostly Spanish but communications good humoured. Totally enjoyed ourselves.....so much to do......so many things we didn’t have a chance to try........something for everyone. I highly recommend and was sad to go home

They are always cleaning sanitizing which is great to see. Upon arrival no one wearing Face Masks. ,on departure all Security at Airport were wearing Masks. A British Cruise Line was denied Port due to sickened people onboard. We have trouble with all food once we leave North America even having consumed Ducorol prior to travel. Stomach aches and pain from day 2 until our return home so we will have to see a Dr prior to leaving for any future Island. Overcast and rain all but 2 days did not help with our mood on a yrly vacation we hoped for sun everyday. Nothing against the resort they try to be perfect and can't control weather. Had hoped for better food from a 5 Star maybe we are too fussy. The resort is amazing other than our food issues.

The best thing about the resort is the number of elements that are included The resort has everything - fantastic beach, great pools, fun poolside activities, sports and games, water park, nice excursions, tennis courts including pickle ball, spa, gym, soccer field, casino, disco, 5 nice restaurants plus the bonus wine cellars, excellent bars including the sports bar, great buffet and balcony overlooking pool and beach, hot tubs on room balconies, lobby shops, great guest services, high quality rooms, attentive maid service, helpful transportation and shuttles on site and the crowning touch - Pete Dye golf course, clubhouse and practice area with pro shop and reatuarant Add to this the friendly and efficient staff and you are guaranteed a great holiday At the price it is almost impossible to beat in my opinion

The grounds are lovely. Pools are clean. Restaurants are delicious. Staff is exceptional!!! The beach was beautiful. The sand Was raked every morning The ocean water was turquoise. Fun trip with my son and I.

What a fantastic hotel and resort.staff could not of been anymore accommodating.Fantastic food and rooms are amazing and so clean. Golf course is great, best vacation ever This place was first class from start to finish.very short ride to resort, which is great after a 4.5 hour flight

Beautiful resort, grounds were impeccable, terrific amenities, children’s attractions, and a la cartes. Resort is VERY large...difficult to move around with small children or ppl with mobility issues.

A meticulous resort with friendly and courteous staff, always willing to help. The golf course was in excellent shape and the weather complimented every day we played. A good selection of restaurants and good variety of foods at the buffet. Recommended vacation resort for all ages!

We loved the hotel it was very big so we did lots of walking exploring all the areas however, if you can’t walk there is a train shuttle that goes around. We had a junior suite room that was very nice and had a jacuzzi on the balcony which we enjoyed. The food at the buffet and restaurants was amazing and plenty of options. Staff was amazing and the hotel was very clean. We can’t wait to return.

A lot of thing to do with the very active 5 years old boy. Hotel is big, but once you get familiar with the layout everything is very convenient to get to. Nice evening entertainment, restaurants selection, shopping area. Food is ok. Stayed in the building 5, nice clean room, patio with jacuzzi and ocean view. Kids club is free, spacious inside and outside playground. Kids water park, Pirate Ship park is extra fee though. Not all things were working this time. Staff is very helpful, we forgot kids tablet in the buffet, got it back from the guest service desk. Definitely will be back! I wish they have free wi-fi in the most public areas, not only in the Casino. We bought room wi-fi, was ok, but limited for one device. Another downside is NOT free room service, as all other hotels have.

Hotel was good,service was good! Did not like the half naked girls that looked underage dancing in the casino I feel of this is a family resort then this should. Or be allowed. I also didn’t like that people left their trash and plastic cups on the beach that ended up in the ocean. I think they should charge $1 for plastic cups and they get a refund when it’s brought back.

I can’t say enough about this resort. The resturaunts were all very good and staff was more than friendly. The grounds were extremely large and very well kept I never saw a piece of trash on the ground anywhere and they were constantly cleaning up the seaweed on the beach. They room was kept up well all week and everything in the room worked properly. I recommend upgrading to the premier package the unlimited al a carte and upgraded room make it well worth it.

We had a great vacation staying at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace in Punta Cana from Jan 11-18. The golf was amazing, the food was fantastic, the entertainment was decent and the rooms and property were gorgeous. Lots of things to do at this resort and would highly recommend this resort for couples or families.

i would like to start off by saying that Jill and her Colleagues at trip central are completely amazing. the Barceló Bavaro is a superp resort and the entire staff are friendly and courteous. the resort is super clean, the food is delicious recommend upgrading to premium level. the only complaint I have is that my son got sick there due to an ear infection which I'm pretty sure he got for the kids water park, must be something in the water. only complaint. would definitely go back.

This resort was immaculately kept. Guest service, comfort, quality assurance and happiness was made a priority. Food and variety was fantastic. Room was very nice and clean. So much to do on the resort , we were never board.

One of my favourite resorts! My family and I were a bit disappointed in the timeliness of service.. Otherwise no complaints! Had two great meals in the Spanish restaurant, and enjoyed our nights in the resort club and casino, depending on your room be prepared to walk!

Although the grounds are immaculate and stunning, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace was one of the largest resorts I have ever been to. Having a tram/train to get from one side to the other is an indication of it's foot-print. The main pool was outstanding. I particularly liked the water spouts that gave wicked massages. We really enjoyed the underwater loungers, but not where they were situated right by the buffet. It did give a feeling like everyone is watching you while they eat. The buffet was extensive and had many options and something for everyone. We got to know some of the staff and a few would go over and above to find us mango or extra passion fruit for our table... worthy of the extra tips ;-) When we arrived, we met with a manager Adiascar Corcoran who treated us extremely well. For six of us travelling together in celebration of our collective birthdays, he made sure we had the best a la carte reservations for every night. He also sent a birthday surprise to our room. Our rooms were also spectacular! I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have a private Jacuzzi tub on our balconies. I used ours everyday, sometimes twice a day. I would recommend this location for those who want a big, clean resort. People who like large pools and beautiful palm trees. The restaurants were great, specially the Mexican. If you want real Dominican culture and more of a natural real experience, this isn't quite the place. The shear size, makes for a loss in intimacy and getting to know people. The beach: Perfect for long walks, awesome pictures and sunning in the morning. We were lucky to not have to battle too much Sargasso washing up and whatever did, they took care of it early in the day. We only saw mass amounts on our last day. It's a natural phenomenon which houses many wee beautiful creatures. It is what it is. We did appreciate the efforts to keep the beach clear. However... the one thing I found frustrating was the stickiness of the ocean water. It is clear that it's polluted by massive amounts of sunscreen. We could feel it on our skin, sticky and white some days but usually we were just coated in a sticky-ick. I would like to see more efforts towards pushing for either no sunscreen use in the oceans or at least a reef friendly kind. I had a very difficult time with the animal enclosures out in the water. I'm pretty sure it's animal cruelty. We didn't quite know what we were signing up for in a snorkel tour. I assumed open water areas. We were taken by boat (who was on a 5-song-loop) to first, an area cordoned-off for snorkeling and then a ocean floor-walk with the big glass helmets. This area is far over-polluted and murky. There was only one kind of fish who have been trained to stick around as the tour guides squirt bread from bottles to attract them to the ocean floor-walkers. Also not an environmentally sound practice. The Ocean floor walk was pretty cool, if it weren't so "set up". We didn't need all the extra Insta-moments or photos stops. It was clear that the push was to get us to buy the video. I would have been happy to just pay to have a guided walk in a natural area where healthy sea-life just float on by. It just felt very dirty/touristy. We then set off to another encloser where we were told we would swim with sharks and sting rays. What we witnesses was very sad animals. terrified sting-rays who cowered from the snorkelers and crawled up on each other in a corner. Same with the sharks who looks very unwell. If these are rescued, then let them heal in peace. We were then lined up (at first we didn't know what), my camera was confiscated and i was urged to line up with everyone else. It was too late to bail when I realized I was lining up to have a poor sea-lion kiss everyone on the cheek as if we were at Sea World in the 80's. He was beautiful and there was no need to train him to do this. It broke my heart! The dolphins were next and I just couldn't watch. They were so distressed that some were fighting. I was out! I sadly took myself back to the boat to drown my sorrows in how fake & cruel this all was. I would come back if there were huge efforts towards the environment, waste, and true cultural experience. I would like to add a piece about our booking agent Angela. She continually made mistakes, left things out, emailed the wrong addresses and/or didn't respond to emails at all. It became glowingly painful to get answers.Some of us just gave up on her. She did promise all of us a gift card per room of a value of $100.00 towards an excursion (which they would NOT accept ) or massage, which they also would NOT accept. We tried calling Trip Central's complaint number & email to ask what it WAS good for and OF COURSE, got zero response. We were counting on those funds and we were never able to use it. So, if you're given a Tripcentral gift card, double/triple check WTF it's truly for. We were also promised a rebate from the airline through our agent and those also never showed up for most of us (or have yet to). Only two of the six of us received a rebate on their credit card before the trip. I wouldn't use Angela Douglas of Trip Central ever again, even if you paid me. Her correspondence skills are extremely lacking and she doesn't deliver what she promises. We have email proof of what we were promised what we did not receive. She blew it, big time. Oops, one more thing. Our arrival at the Dominican airport consisted of a 2 hour line up in the heat (thankfully inside the open air), just to go through their customs. I felt awful for anyone travelling with children. That alone would hinder me from ever coming back. 2 hours is just too long to line up like cattle. No thanks!

Huge resort, but still walkable. Impeccably clean. Lovely rooms and balcony with jacuzzi tub(building 5,4th floor is a great spot). Great beach, good food, a la carts were all good except seafood restaurant had cold food and it was ok ish. Mexican was awesome and Japanese was awesome. The only thing Barcelo Palace is missing is a beach bar and a lunch place on the beach. Always had to go to buffet. Nightly shows were surprisingly really good too! Wi fi only in Casino which was a little annoying but it’s good to be “unplugged” for a week. I would recommend it and I have travelled quite a bit.

The grounds, the rooms, the restaurants all were excellent. Cleaning personnel were forever attending to the various restrooms all over the resort. All staff from the reception area to the room attendants were all courteous and friendly and always willing to help.

Grounds were beautiful, well kept. Clean rooms, great food. Very much the best family vacation spot! Many pools to hang by, the casino and disco are open late foe entertainment. Everything you need on one ground

We had a fabulous stay at the Barcelo bravo palace! We loved snorkelling in the turquoise water and relaxing on the white powder sand. It was the cleanest resort we’ve ever stayed at! Our favourite restaurant was the Japanese but we also enjoyed the steak and Mexican restaurant too! We will be back and definitely recommend this resort!!

I was there for a week from November 4th, till November 11th. Low season, great price, we had to go to get that jacuzzi on the balcony. The thing is, there are tons of mosquitoes, which destroyed us! My wife didnt want to get in thw jacuzzi after that. Clean room, excellent food, lots of choices, you can reserve a restaurant every night! Pool is gigantic, lots of space, got to meet a lot of people. Service is great, dont forget to tip the hotel employees! Now, I like to dance, and the club there is amazing, with a very good sound system, but, and it's a big but, the DJ plays the same songs 3 or 4 times a night, and it by blocks of genres. Lots of bachata and merengue, and latin vibes, which, in a tourist world, is good from time to time, but not 7 songs in a row. And did I say it was the same songs over and over, night after night...for a 5 star hotel, i've seen 3 and half star hotels in the dominican with a better party vibe. I dont think that they want to be a party hotel, even if they have the equipment for it, more of a family friendly vibe. Other than the club and the mosquitoes, everything was excellent, the beach is amazing and we really had a lot of fun drinking in the pool with the friends we made!
