Still enjoyed my 3rd visit to the property. Food was excellent. Accommodation predictable and good. Golf course terrific! Staff very friendly as always. Weird shower design. There is nothing to stop the water on the shower floor going into the rest of the bathroom. Had to use towels to dam up the water. It was the same in 2009. Nothing changed?

Our room was great, the bottled water is very inconvenient but not bad. The grounds are beautiful and the birds at the buffet are really nice. For such a nice place the people painting are making a huge mess a the walkways making it very unattrective. The beach is great and the pools are good…kids love the water park.food is good and drinks are tasty. I would go back

Other than the language barrier and issues with our bathroom that ended up with us demanding a room move, this resort is lovely. Very clean, grounds well maintained, food awesome, beach phenomenal. We had a great stay.

A quality resort, very clean and very well maintained. Very friendly and attentive staff in all areas. Excellent food choices and high end beverages. Fully equipped gym and lots of activities to work off the extra calories.

Stayed for 11 days and 10 nights with kids aged 4 and 7. We travel to the Dominican every year and try different resorts. THIS WAS OUR BEST FAMILY TRIP. The resort is very, very clean, food is consistently good, everything is in walking distance, pool has gradual entry which is great for the kids, splash area was fun for big kids- the toddler area one didnt ever turn on though, beach is clean but a little rocky to walk into the water(coral). The main reason we loved it so much was the amazing focus on the kids, the kids club is not just a room or a small building like other places. First off its very well organized with secure processes to check in and out your children via the app and QR codes, SOOO many activities for the kids across the resort, with option to live track location via whatsapp . Staff are wonderful with the kids. Inside the actual star camp building there is a full play place structure, trampoline park, cooking station and movie station. At night the staff make sure all the kids are part of the show- putting them into costumes and including them.

Very clean resort, very family oriented, an amazing kids club. The food was absolutely amazing, not only at the buffet, but also at all the ala cartes. All the staff were very friendly and very accommodating

This hotel has a beautiful property. There is plenty of lush gardens and palm trees. The rooms are very clean and the service is great. Food was very good in most restaurants, especially the gourmet restaurant in the Dominicana resort next door. The pools are clean and the beach is kept very clean as well.

Enjoyed our 14 day stay. The resort , the room, the grounds, everywhere was super clean. The a la carte restaurants lacked a quality of food preparation, and taste. A bit disappointed on that aspect. We go on holidays to disconnect from our devices and enjoy nature and relax. Usually the devices are in the safe throughout our vacation, Unfortunately, we had to use our devices to read menus at the bars and a la carte restaurants. We were not the only ones of that opinion. I would not return to this resort as there were just too many children everywhere. It’s not the resort’s fault, we should have done better research. The staff was excellent. Of course, you can’t beat that lovely beach!

The good: This resort is very well taken care of. We had a HUGE storm one night. I looked outside early (6 am), and there was debris everywhere - by 8 am, it was as if nothing had happened. The grounds are well taken care of. The room was nice, a little worn out, but above average based on our experience of going to resorts in DO. A handful of staff were amazing. Two from the main buffet and three from the lobby bar - they made us feel very welcome. The steak house was AMAZING!!! I had an amazing beef rib dish. It would have easily beat both of my fav steak restaurants in Montreal and Toronto! Everyone at our table had an amazing dish and top-notch service! The not-so-good: When we arrived, we were greeted by check-in staff, who made it seem like we were a burden. He was very cold towards us. We were not deterred by this. Everyone has a bad day once in a while. Unfortunately, this theme was consistent throughout our stay across the buffets and bars by the beach and pool area. The a-la-carte restaurants we visited were the Japanese Grill, Steak House and Italian. The Japanese Grill was so awful that one guy threw up eating his food. It was extremely salty! The Italian was the same food you got from the pizza and pasta station at the buffet, with no service. I gave up on a pepper grinder, walked to the server's station on the other side of the restaurant, and just got my own. Again, the food was over-salted, and as someone who loves salt, I think that's saying something! Entertainment - it's the same songs and show every night - and no matter where your room is located on the resort - YOU WILL HEAR IT!! The beach... If you enjoy walking in sand and cigarette butts, you will enjoy it! Drinks on the beach... Good luck - ZERO service while on the beach - there were servers, but they were having too much fun chatting with their co-workers. If you like to snorkel, Barcelo Beach is not the best place for it. Rough Atlantic waters make it quite difficult, but if you are a good swimmer and are confident, you should be okay - but watch that current. Mixing 5ft waves and fine sand will disorientate you! The swell was HUGE - on a calm day, what would be 5ft deep would be 12-13ft deep. If you really want to see some amazing marine life (and there is some amazing sights), look at the tide times and go out on the incoming tide. My final comment is not to go beyond the rope, divider. Speed boats rip up and down within a couple of feet of that line - they will NOT see you, and if you are snorkelling within 20ft of the rope, you will choke on the exhaust fumes from these boats!! In summary, the positives were too few compared to the negatives. My inlaws, who were with us, had been to the same resort just before covid and said it's gone downhill considerably. Maybe internal politics is causing the staff to be not as friendly or attentive, who knows. Such a shame - my inlaws loved the last two times they went, but this time, they didn't recognize the place based on service.

Lovely hotel amenities- pool and beach beautiful and well kept- buffet food very good - we were 2 couples but saw many multi generational groups and we all were well fed and little to no delays- very limited seating at the specialty ‘a La carte’ restaurants- hotel very clean - nice extras of water bottles and flip flops - 24hr amazing coffee bar included- desserts were delicious- good trip ! Oh and if you like entertainment there were nightly offerings by talented enthusiastic staff.

The beach, pool and grounds were all great and well maintained, but the rooms were disappointing and needed a lot of maintenance. Out of four rooms, two had ground floor patio doors that didn't lock. The cleanliness of the rooms was poor. Despite asking the maids each day to change the sheets they completely ignored this request and the floors were never swept which meant the sand you continually drag in from the beach even though you try not to accumulates on your floor and in your bed. One of our group actually took the sheets off the bed and bundled them up. Their sheets were changed but the maids were put out that they had to do this. The maids did change the towels but didn't clean the sink, which again accumulated sand through the week. Many of the ice and water machines around the property were broken. You are provided with water bottles to fill at the machines for filtered water, but I'm not sure the bottles are cleaned between guests which may be the cause of the stomach issues half of us had. Communication with staff was challenging at times which could be expected, but the process of trying to book one of the specialty restaurants should be made a bit easier. The flood was good and varied and the hostess of the main buffet was awesome and took care of our party of 12 very well. All in all, great beach but I would not stay at any Iberostar again.

Just returned from Iberostar Selection Bavaro. Travelled as a couple. Beach is lovely with plenty of palapas for shade, never an issue finding one and miles to walk in either direction. Didn't really use the pool but it appeared to have ample loungers and shade as well. Grounds are beautifully maintained and lots of bird wildlife. The main buffet has much better service and ambience than the buffet closer to the beach. We found the food and service at the main buffet on par or better than other equivalent level all-inclusive hotels, and in particular with the amount of fresh seafood grilling each day. A-la-cartes were a bit more hit and miss in terms if service and quality. Booking for a-la-cartes was through "concierge" whose main goal appears to be get you to attend a "morning meeting" sales pitch. Thankfully, they don't bother you after the first "no thanks". Rooms are large, but dated (I believe some are renovated). Ours had a musty smell (was likely not used recently) but was able to air it after a day or two. They will ask (suggest to you) if want to upgrade at checkin. We didn't and were closer to the lobby than the beach which worked well for us since we were golfing most days. Golfing was great - did a 5 round package and stored our clubs there. Shuttle service to and from the course was courteous and prompt. Also can easily walk to or from the course if desired. It was our first time to this property and wasn't sure if we should be booking down to save a few dollars (IB Dominicana or IB Punta Cana) or up (Selection Coral Level or Iberostar Grand). In the end we felt we made the right choice and would book the same category and hotel again after spending some time at the Dominicana and Punta Cana where you have access to the facilities.

The beach was fantastic and we never had any issues finding beach chairs. The buffet and restaurants were very good - especially the Japanese restaurant. The service throughout the hotel was excellent. Special shout-outs to Luis and Daniel.

Hotel was great, clean and excellent location and beach. Room service was slow, food at restaurants was average. Buffet and pool side food options were great. Language was an issue for English speakers but overall the experience was great and we had an amazing time

Beautiful birds, fish, lush gardens all around, good service, kind and caring personnel all over the place , nice rooms , spacious beach but people flooded them after Covid , sea weeds like other beaches, average entertainment ,the loveliest given by our beautiful children dancing shuttle bus was great, security was noticed which gave sense of safety, they all made us to forgive the lack of food variety, quality known of Iberostar ? No lubsters, you love it ? You pay 65$ a person at the restaurant ? no good beef, and Mexican restaurant foods were not great surely higher management trying to compensate for Covid losses , may be same for other resorts ? I wanted to book the big modern nearby riu palace at 1200$ pp rather than the 1750$ pp we paid , but my wife thought Iberostar had super foods , based on the good recommendation of martine from tripcentral we had been to Barcelona palace and the food was great that was before Covid . Airport a small mess , our plane was late 2 hours, they changed the departure gate without people informed , and they had to search for the bags of that rouge late passenger , may be he/she did not notice gate change, the screen changed so fast ? And the few transat personnel were only at the departure gate busy with long lines , the whole airport is not adequate for the huge traffic , I noticed buses loading people to jets almost pumping in with wings of planes like human traffic in crowded bazaars in less gifted places against all safety standards of dedicated lane design in airports

Air conditioning was not working in a entire section of hotel....very hot in rooms. Food was over salted and boring in buffet, no Covid restrictions. Check in was a night mare. We are several times repeat guests and nothing was done to recognize that. Overall sad to say failing grade from this repeat costumer.

This is an excellent resort to go to. The beach is expansive. Cleaned daily. Plenty of lounge chairs and beach umbrellas available. The variety of foods available is incredible. If you do not gain any weight than you must be running miles and miles daily. We have been here before and plan to return next year God willing..

We absolutely loved the resort. What we liked was the big open spaces, the open buffet and the whole layout The staff were always extremely helpful, the rooms were clean and well laid out and we would certainly go there again Our one criticism was the entertainment. There was no variety and it was so loud we went down to the beach area to avoid it

From the staff to the location down to the beautiful weather. The place is beautiful. The villas are well kept with housekeeping daily. The pool is gorgeous and the beach is well maintained the only thing bad I will say is I had a room fairly close to the theater and lobby. At night the entertainment was extraordinarily loud. So much so that when there to enjoy a drink you could not char with those at the table with you. If you wished for an earlier night the volume was way to high. It didn't need to be that high. Beyond that though the food, drink and staff make this resort a great place to be. It was my second stay here and I would certainly come back again.

Holiday started off rough. This is not our first time here so we expected no problems. No water in room for two days, air conditioning problems, too much emphasis but on coral and prestige level that average Joe's felt part of the scenery. The animation staff never new what was happening that night when asked in the morning.. Junior and an older animation staff who i forget his name right now, but his son works in wait staff were great. Half of the new hired male staff in buffet area were too busy sneaking drinks while ducking under there dirty dishes station. Need MORE PROFESSIONALISM FOR SURE, Arielis looked exhausted trying to babysit these bafoons. Tables were always dirty and placemats, never new if your cutlery, or glasses had been used before. Seemed to me overall the place has gone down hill after their renovations. So sad as we always used to enjoy it. Stop trying to push out your average traveller for snobbery, and focus on those who made you what you are....your repeat average customers!! Shout out to Orlando, Baylaise, and kaysie who were fantastic. Oh and Pantara was the animation man I was thinking off.

The property was beautiful, the entertainment was well done and the food was good. However, the English communication was very poor amongst the staff. We had trouble several times getting the information we required. French is certainly the preferred language after Spanish. Also, as the resort seemed to draw a large number of smokers and smoking was allowed everywhere it was very uncomfortable as non smokers being around a lot of cigar smokers as appears to be the custom for many. I would recommend the Iberostar Pariso Beach over the Dominican location.

I thought the resort was okay. The service staff was amazing and they work really hard. It was a smaller resort versus others that I stayed at which was really nice. You could get a beach hut at anytime so no early morning wake ups to get a hit! :-). Disappointed that the golf package wasn’t included as advertised, played anyway and the course was outstanding. It was also nice that drinks were included on the course as it was owned by the resort. The buffet was just fair at best (no variety, the same for lunch and dinner) The specialty restaurants were the biggest disappointment except the Japanese restaurant.

This resort was a good resort. The service was amazing! The people who worked there were very friendly. The golf course was challenging. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. It was very busy but easy to find beds and chairs at the beach. The food was better at the buffet than most of the specialty restaurants however, with the exception of the Mediterrainien Restaurant which was very good! So average food in general but they tried hard and had chefs come around often enough to ask for suggestions on how it would be better so they seemed to really care. The rooms were only average. The resort is older but well maintained. The bathrooms were tiny however. Good facilities with lots of shopping and a casino. Truly the girls are not friendly at the casino but in resorts are they ever really? So overall good but not the best and not the worst. The service and the people pushed this resort from average to good for me. Carlos at the buffet restaurant was amazing and the people on his team. Everyone who worked there was friendly and nice! Happy people working there for sure! Made the stay even better!

Sollicitation, sollicitation, non stop all week long. Some employees ask for money in exchange of little "extras", and two men in charge of activities (entertainment) had a fight (twice) during an evening show. Small families were affraid and going back to their room. The hotel is nice, food is average, but good enough, the beach is excellent, but people reserve chairs all day by leaving their towels, even if they don't show up. Domenican people working there don't smile much, you fell you bother them, except those who have something to sell (stuff or service). We never saw Air Transat rep, we had a hard time finding the transportation at the airport. We traveled about ten times in our life, and we don't generaly complain about small things, that is part of travelling. This is the worst trip we had. No more Iberostar, and no more Domenican Republic.

We love this resort/franchise so much! We have stayed at the Punta Cana & Bavaro now and definetly will return to the Bavaro side because of the accommodations. Villas are so key for me because I’m very noise-sensitive and so echoing in hallways when in hotel style always keeps me awake and/or disturbs me. The villas at Bavaro are great. The washrooms could use some TLC & the TV was a little shotty, but who’s watching TV on vacation?! The rooms were great at both locations. We preferred the pool and food on the Punta Cana/Dominicana side of the resort, but you have use of the whole property, so no big deal! The ONLY complaint we have is that they seem to have changed the food from the last time we were there and there is way too much seafood! Like, way too much! Seemed like every night was sushi/fish night...the problem? My husband is highly allergic to all fish (shellfish, seafood)!!! He was relegated to eating pizza and bread because the cross-contamination with people using tongs from fish to touch other non-fish items and also dropping seafood into other dishes was rampant! There was no safe food for him to eat. When we went to the Punta Cana side 2 years ago, he did eat something that obviously fish had touched because he had a severe reaction and was throwing up trying to avoid a hospital visit. SO I do wish the menu wasn’t so fish-heavy, because in 2017 it wasn’t like that. We would go to each of the 3 Buffetts on this recent stay hoping for a different food theme, but fish was everywhere at all 3 buffets every night :( But anyway...the grounds are beautiful, the accommodations, the service, we just love DR and love this franchise. We will be back (hopefully the menu returns to 2017 and they find other foods to feature!)

Everything was about the hotel was perfect - food, drinks, hotel, weather. The only down side was that vendors were allowed onto the resort and that these vendors hustled you for a sale, even after saying no.

I have travelled here from Nov. 18 to Nov. 28, 2018, and can honestly say this was one of my best trips to Punta Cana in the last few years. Resort: Only half-hour away from the airport, the hotel is friendly for all types of guests: from singles/couples to bigger families. You will always find something fun to do in your own tastes, be it taking a sunbathe at the beach, bird watching along green paths, chilling out at the bar or playing active games at the pool. The location is full of natural vegetation; the gardens are well kept, and the orchidarium is a sweet touch. Overall, the resort is pretty large; you can access main points of interest in a walking distance (should you prefer, there are also carts available to take you wherever you need). Worthy to mention, the hotel has accommodations for people with disabilities as well. There is a store available on-site that has all the basic stuff available: snorkelling masks, swimming suits, bug repellents, sunscreen lotions, toys, snacks, souvenirs, etc. Room: The room was spacious and pretty clean; though some quick fix-ups in the bathroom would be appreciated (i.e. the mirror was covered with rust). The noise isolation was also good. The room included a mini-bar (restocked every afternoon), a safe, an ironing board, a hair-dryer, and a couple of umbrellas. I found it a bit odd that there was no “Do not disturb” sign available though, as there were at least three room service routines happening daily: room cleaning in mid-morning, towels replacement in the afternoon, and mini-bar restocking in the evening. I’ve only encountered two-three bugs during my 1.5 week stay, but would recommend brining a bug repellent regardless. Beach/Pool: The beach line is long enough to take a good walk. It gets cleaned regularly, and even though there was quit a few seaweeds in the first few days, it was cleaned promptly. The sea is shallow at the entrance and gradually gets deeper as you move forward. There are some fishes to observe; though not too many. Tons of beach chairs available and bar service was good. Very few people walking around trying to sell you stuff, though not pushy at all. There are two pools available: one for small kids (the splashing bucket is a blast!), and another one for teens and adults. There is also a bar accessible right from the pool to chill out on a hot day. Food: The food was more than adequate; tons of variety, especially for the sea food lovers. Overall, nice mix of continental and local food choices. The pool/beach grill was great for lunch and occasionally they had something cooking in the big stirfry pan close by. As for the a-la carte restaurants, I’ve tried three out of eight available (as a guest of Iberostart Bavaro Suites, you also have access to two other nearby hotels, including restaurants, casino, shops, etc.). The first restaurant I went to was “La Marimba” (Seafood), located at Iberostar Dominicana hotel. Overall, it was good; though lobster comes at a cost of US $25.00 (you can get free lobster at Bavaro Suites pretty much any day), and some more variety in the main courses would be great. The second a-la carte restaurant was at Iberostar Punta Cana, called “La Pagoda” (Oriental). Just terrible: from service to food itself. Do not recommend. Last but not least was “Jambalaya” (Cajun) at Iberostar Bavaro. Absolutely the best! Top service, great atmosphere, lots of choices and the food was delicious. Staff/Entertainment: This resort by far has the best staff! Unlike many other places, you do not have to tip to get good service (though tips are still appreciated ;) ). Friendly, professional, engaging, everyone—from janitors & gardeners to lobby desk administrators—do their best to make you feel welcomed. HUGE kudos to the animation team (Star Friends). Not only they find new ways to entertain you during the day time, they also help put up great night shows. These were by far the best shows I’ve seen in my recent trips to Caribbean, and not a single one repeated itself during the whole stay. A fly in the ointment: Up until the day preceding departure, I’ve had only positive experience with the buffet personnel; however, on the very last day the whole crew changed and new waiters were assigned. And, wow, what a change! Not a single smile; the tables stayed dirty until you pointed out, no wine being served, etc… I feel sorry for the newcomers who may have to deal with that kind of attitude, and can see how this could spoil their vacation at the otherwise great hotel. :( Overall: I would strongly recommend this resort. I would absolutely return to this place in a heartbeat!!

Felt safe, very clean! Food was good! One comment is about the night club, seemed as though they have an employee night. With being on a short trip, it did take away one of night entertainment. Staff were very friendly and definitely return!

We stayed recently at Iberostar Bavaro suits with another four couples and head great time. Grounds are beautiful; beach is big so we had no problems to find a place on the beach. We all love ocean and although was rough sea we were able to enjoy water and swim. Entertainment was good and weather nice. What to say about a food? It was plenty of food and large variety of dishes and also very nicely displayed. Rooms and all restaurants were very clean. Also we were lucky to see a beautiful Christmas decorations. Staff was pleasant, smiley and friendly. We loved time spent at the resort and resort itself. We would definitively go back.

Amazing resort, fantastic food and service, very nice beach, but lousy entertainment. Nice a la cart restaurants especially buffets and barbecue. Very nice holiday lights around whole area and decorations.

We had a great stay. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We requested a room change to have more space and they easily accommodated our request. The beach was awesome. Food was good. We really enjoyed the option for frequent a la carte dining

This was my second time at the Iberostar Bavaro Resort. The resort is older but well maintained. Grounds are very clean, every day there are gardeners taking care of all the plants and flowers including orchids. Food is good and there is lots to choose from. Beach is fabulous best location in Punta Cana. Staff is very attentive and eager to please their guests. Will return again

Good food, beautiful beaches, lots of palapas, nice rooms in villas with gorgeous grounds. Would rate buffets 5 star. A la cartes 4 star pool 4 1/2 star beaches 5 star entertainment 3 1/2 star. Rooms 4 1/2 star

We are repeated guests at this resort. What draws us back again and again are great gardens and trees, guests leaning towards mature people and families..The accomoditation in villas is quiet and very nice. The food is good and the beach is fantastic. Service - fast, efficient and always with the smile. We liked it as well because it is an older, established and relaxed resort.

Stayed the week of March 27 to April 3/17. There were six in our group. The hotel is very clean and the grounds are beautiful. The beach is one of the best I have been to. The rooms are a good size and fairly updated. The bathrooms are on the small side. Shower leaked due to the door not fitting properly and didn't stay closed. Our maid, Juanita did a suburb job with cleaning our room. She is a wonderful lady. She works hard and deserves to be tipped. The bartenders at the beach bar were great, Michael, Francis, Santos and Ernestine. Michael makes a great "dirty monkey". Again, tip all the staff, they are great. We enjoyed all of the restaurants for the most part. The Italian was good the first time, not so much the second time. Japanese restaurant chefs put on a good show and the food was good. Buffet was really good except for "Dominican night". All of the meat was really dry. Breakfast and lunch were great. Lots of selections. Didn't spend much time at the pool. It was smaller than most Iberostar I have been to. Entertainment team are fun. All of us really enjoyed ourselves and it was a great trip. Would return in a heartbeat. Solid 4 & 1/2 star.

There is nothing to complain about!!! Everything ( I mean e v e r t h i n g !) was perfect. Paradise on earth. Very friendly staff. The food was excellent. Extremely clean. Beautiful garden. Lots of space at the beach and the pool. Enjoyed the peaceful breakfast at the beach.

Despite my husband's injury pre holiday, we still had an amazing time. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable and the food was incredible. I especially enjoyed the grounds which featured water ponds with its own little eco system. The resort itself was beautiful and very well maintained. I would love to visit again. The only disappointment was not being reimbursed for a cancelled excursion. I understand that they have 15 days to effect reimbursement.

We spent a fantastic week at Iberostar Bavaro Suites from July 11th - 18th Likes: room was big enough for 4 Pool, Beach, Staff, Entertainment, Golf, Gym, Amenitites The pool area was fantastic. Lots of space. We didn't use the pool with the swim up bar. But the deep, zero entry, and kids pool were well used by our family. The bar near the pool was never crazy busy and there was always someone walking around to clear your cups and bring you another. There was plenty to be involved in at the pool area. The entertainment staff did a great job. The beach was beautiful. Lots of chairs. Lots of shade. The beach bar has a great vibe and they grill burgers and hotdogs to order. Best burgers on the resort. There was always a BBQ on the beach and more often than not, there was lobster involved. Do not miss the Paella Party! The water could be a little choppy but I found it not too bad. Sauble Beach or Grand Bend can be much more rough in my opinion. Seaweed comes in a little with the tide in the late afternoon but not all that bad. The room is quite large. Tile floors so watch for slippery floors if you come in wet. Not at all noisy. Discovered when we left there were people above us. We did not hear them. Air conditioning functioned well but you do not control the temperature. Drying rack on the porch was handy. Bar was restocked daily but snacks dwindled at the end of the week. Evening shows were fun. Do not miss the circus show! It is open air. The bar is close by and there is always someone taking orders. The grounds are beautiful. My only regret was not spending more time exploring. Water sports are run by Dressel Divers. We did kayak..was a great time! They are very professional and offer water based excursions. We went on the full day Snorkel to Saona Island. I highly recommend that. Food. A La Carte meals were quite good. Although the service is a bit slower and so you should expect your meals to take about 1.5 hours. These meals are air conditioned. Except steak House. The buffets are open air. Was warm but nice. Service was pretty good for drinks and plate clearing. The staff in the food area were lovely. We simply did not really like the food. Typically we are not buffet people and are a bit picky as I am excellent in the kitchen. Still there were some good items (ribs, churros, fresh juice bar, salad bar, taco night). We were able to find something. I found the pool buffet to be the best one for lunch. Always lots of fruit available. Passion fruit looks awful but served with a little bit of honey, was my new favorite. The golf at Iberostate was good. It is worth it to bring your clubs and shoes. My husband golfed the course 4 times. Enjoyed it each time. The gym is beautiful. Lots of classes and good equipment. If you workout regularly you will be happy there. Kids club offers a good variety of activities. My kids were not interested in going. Definitely best suited to younger children (5-8 or so). The staff that work with guests speak many languages. It is amazing how multilingual they are. Once they find out you are Canadian they do prefer to speak French. But will gladly speak English if your French is a little rough around the edges. Overall- I would not hesitate to return, except we didn't like the buffets. For this reason only we will look elsewhere for next time. I definitely recommend this resort to others.

I traveled in a group of six...ages 3-51 years. I booked three rooms on the phone with Jenn B instead of online as I wanted to make sure we got two rooms that were connecting rooms. Pros: Sunwing flight, resort layout, excellent beach, above average food and drinks, Star Friends/Animation team, service in bars/restaurants, kids water park Cons: poor wifi, inconsistent hot water, air conditioning varied within 3 rooms (1 cold, 2 warmer), pool could use some maintenance, ceiling fan and other switches not marked in room The resort overall is nice and the beach is excellent. We walked over a mile in both directions and truly feel the Iberostar Beach is the best in that area. The resort is aged but the rooms are kept clean. I read the resort will be closed for two months in Fall 2016. The pool layout is good with some zero entry areas but could use some maintenance (missing tiles, loose ladders, etc.) The main issues were all of us losing our wifi connection 4-5x a day and inconsistent hot water daily. We were planning on using wifi on our phones/ iMessage to keep in contact with each other. It seemed like every day, the wifi would die around 2:30pm for an hour. The hot water we had maintenance come twice. I guess we were turning the faucet on the wrong way...which was not communicated the two times maintenance came (because the maintenance crew only spoke Spanish and we barely speak Spanish). On day three, we ended up having a manager come and go over the things wrong in each room. We were told for the hot water...While the faucet is off, you have to turn the dial to fully hot and then turn the water/shower on. After it runs a bit, you can adust the temperature to warmer. We were just turning it on in the middle and trying to adjust (how every other shower faucet I have used in my lifetime). It makes no sense to me but we did take warmer showers after that. Maybe it's a water pressure thing of priming the hot water. We were not the only people with this hot water problem so Iberstar should put signs up around the faucet. This is like a rating of 4.2 / 5 resort...if they sort these issues out, a bit more (4.5)

I would have to really think about recommending this resort. There is lots of upgrading needs to be done with the first thing making sure they have hot water and that the patio doors look. When they say someone will be there in 15 minutes be prepared to wait about 45 minutes to an hour. Plus side: The a la carte restaurant are great especially the Steak House. Even the main buffet was excellent. You could always find something you liked and the same goes for the beach buffet which turns into the Steak House at night. What else can you say about the beach except beautiful and the same goes for the pool.

The resort was very nice. The beach is the best part of this resort as it is huge. The buffet was very good! The restaurants (we tried the Japanese and Mexican) were good. Hotel rooms need an update!!

Rooms were clean and stocked daily with refreshments and fresh towels, cleaning staff were excellent. We stayed in the 1200 block right by the pool / beach and loved the convenience. Groundskeepers worked very hard at keeping all areas including the beach clean and tidy. Always beach and pool chairs available. Dining options varied and always something new to try. Overall a great experience.

Overall it's a nice hotel. The rooms are clean and quiet enough as long as the door and window are closed. The buffet has great variety of choice and the a la carte restaurants are even better. If there's one thing to complaint, it's their English skill, most of the staff can only speak Spanish and for those who can speak English also has limited words. We spent lots of time explaining what we want than actually get what we want. It would have been a five star for sure if the communication wasn't an issue.

We had a great time, the resort was beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. They food at the buffet was good, they had a lot of variety so we didn't have to eat the same things over and over. We only made it to one of our a la carte bookings, the Steak House. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the steak we were both very happy with our meals and the service. The resort & bar staff were very friendly, you got the same pleasant service whether you tipped or not. The pool and beach were nice, there was a bit seaweed in the ocean but nothing to keep you from going in. They kept the beach clean and seaweed issue was maintained daily. Only negative would be about the night entertainment , it was bit lack luster we've seen better at other resorts. However the Dominican and Ibero -Stars shows were the best by far. We really enjoyed those. Oh Yes! our room was really nice, cleaned daily and no towel issues or bugs. I swear the bed was on of the most comfortable we've slept on out of all the resorts we've stayed at. All and all it was a great vacation.

Our 3rd time visiting this beautiful resort in Punta Cana and it just keeps getting better! From the moment of check in, we were treated like royalty. The staff are so friendly, accommodating and genuinely care about the guests with no expectations of a tip in return for this service. The resort remains immaculately clean and so well cared for. The food continues to be outstanding providing variety and high quality food clearly labelled and replenished. What I found remarkable was the auditing of the presentation that took place at each meal. Management observing the presentation of the food, the labelling and ensuring the staff were cognizant of what was required to make it even better. We requested the same room due to location in advance of arriving and they did everything possible to accommodate. We were welcomed with a bottle of rum and fruit platter upon arrival. I celebrated my birthday while there and at teh end of the night, I returned to find a chilled bottle of champagne with fruit platter and a birthday card. So impressive and truly made me feel special. I always provide balanced feedback in my reviews so here are the cons I came across during this visit: 1. The rooms have excellent air conditioning but should have temperature control vs. high/medium/low. We were freezing in the room but if we turned it off, it was too hot 2. On my previous visits, the entertainment staff were extremely sociable and visible. Each morning, they would walk the beach, stopping to say hello to all guests and set the stage for the day's/evening's activities. During this visit, we noticed less entertainment staff working, they were not very visible during the day. They truly make the experience while you're there so would like to see them increase their visibility and sociability during the day to ensure a better stay. Overall, I have travelled to many other places over the years and always draw my comparison to this resort. Simply outstanding resort! I will be returning to the Iberostar Bavaro in Punta Cana for a 4th time.

We spent a week at the hotel and we have nothing but great things to say about it. Our room was clean and spacious, the food was very good (we loved the à la carte restaurants), the service was very friendly, the pool was fun and the beach was beautiful. We would go back again and would recommend the resort to others!

Food was excellent, comfortable room, friendly people, great entertainment. It is a family orientated resort. Very safe for the children to walk around. If something was not good they would try to fix it as fast as possible. I would go again with my family.

Truly an excellent time in all regards! The staff stand out as very friendly and outgoing; especially the entertainment staff. Always busy but never too busy to stop and talk with you. The dining and buffet experiences were a highlight. Loved the arrangement of hotel rooms, close to everything. Have already told friends and will certainly do a return visit.

For a family of five, with three young adults, it was a great resort. It was very clean, lovely suites; the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful, and the food and beverages were very good.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 6 nights early December. We have travelled to many resorts in this area and thought the rooms were great. Upgraded and spacious -very comfy. The resort was also very clean. Staying at the Suites side you can visit the 2 adjacent resorts (really it's 1 resort with 2 separate hotel buildings sharing the same amenities.) which is great as you can try their nightly shows, shopping, restaurants. We did like the adjacent resort pool better as we found the suites pool small for the amount of rooms- the loungers were really jammed together and no adults only pool as I had read there was. We thought the food was good but did not try all restaurants, we heard the Mexican was great from people we met and we really liked the Japanese. We found the staff were very friendly. Nightly theme shows were fun and we found the daily entertainment was fantastic. This truly is a a fun resort. We would recommend this to mostly everyone except those looking for an adult only pool/experience. We had a great time!

Iberostar Bavaro is really gorgeous. We had a suite with no view (just the other bungalows), but since we hardly stayed in the room, it didn't matter. The grounds are beautiful and the temperature in the room was perfect. Everything worked well - plumbing, hot water, fridge, etc. However, we were robbed of US$200 on our first day, which kind of put a damper on things, but it worked out well in the end. The hotel provided a free excursion and the manager, Wanda, couldn't have been nicer, going out of her way to reassure us and in general, being extremely helpful. The food in the buffet was plentiful and varied. We tried two of the restaurants, but were disappointed and next time, would stick with the buffet. The drinks were so-so, but since we are not really drinkers, this didn't matter too much. The beach is beautiful and generally free of seaweed. We did not go in the pool, so can't comment. Went on two excursions - Horse Play, which has to be arranged online or by phone as it is one of the excursions offered by the resorts. It really gives you value for your money - a long horseback ride, zip lining, a demonstration of cigar-making, a demonstration of how chocolate is made, and a typical Dominican meal. Well worth the price. The other excursion was Bavaro Splash - snorkelling, snuba (not as deep as scuba diving), and riding your own speedboat. Also very good. The people were so kind and it was a good day out. All in all, despite being robbed and my daughter's getting sick, we managed to have a good time. I can highly recommend the Iberostar Bavaro.

Iberostar Bavaro is a wonderful resort. The rooms are large and very clean. The staff are amazing especially Francia in the dinning room. It is close to the airport so you can be by the pool or beach in a short time. The beach is endless and clean. The pool area doesn't feel crowded at all with a wonderful area for children. We have been to several resorts in the DR and this is by far the best!!!!! We flew with WestJet. The Sunwing check-in area in the DR looked like a big mess.

My husband and I were taking our first vacation away from our toddler. We had a good time, but the resort is far from what I thought it would be. The positive: nice beach, big rooms and food is ok. The negative: old resort, no quiet areas for couples and service was bad. Overall, it was an average resort and would not recommand to my friends unless it is real cheap and they are going with a big group.
