We had a fantastic stay at the Occidental Caribe in Punta Cana and would absolutely recommend it. The standout feature is definitely the staff, they are exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay enjoyable. We want to give a special thank you to Isaury from Guest Experience, who truly went above and beyond for us during our stay. From the moment we met him, he was incredible, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Whether it was answering questions, making arrangements, or simply checking in to make sure everything was perfect, Isaury made us feel genuinely cared for. His dedication and positive attitude really stood out and made our vacation even more memorable. The entertainment team was fantastic ( Sebastian (peluche), Lulu, Wellington, Mirtha, Maria, David, Raimely) they played a huge role in making the resort feel lively and fun throughout the day and night. They did an amazing job organizing activities that catered to guests of all ages, so there was always something going on no matter your interests. From games and events in the pool to activities on the beach, they kept the energy up without ever feeling overwhelming. In the evenings, the entertainment continued with shows and performances that were enjoyable and well put together. Their enthusiasm and effort really added to the overall experience and made each day feel a little more special. The resort itself is very clean, well-maintained, and has a perfect layout. The pools are amazing, both have plenty of space, great atmosphere at the one and a perfect spot to unwind at the other. The beach is just as impressive, with soft sand and beautiful views that really capture what you imagine a Caribbean getaway should be. The rooms are a bit dated in terms of decor, but everything works perfectly, and they are kept very clean. Food was another highlight. There are many options to choose from in the buffet and the a la cartes are amazing so it never felt repetitive, and we always found something we enjoyed. The drinks were also amazing, well-made, and refreshing. Some of the exceptional staff that made our stay a memorable one, Yenibel Carrasco, Nilson, Daibelis, Angel at the pool buffet, the bar tenders at the beach pool and lobby bars Ana, Luz, Katherine, David, Santa, Carolina, Maria, Elizabeth, Katherine, Ruth, Ceferino, Jean at the theater bar. Our housekeeper Paola Gonzalez, Esmeralda in Guest services. Overall, this resort delivers where it counts: great service, cleanliness, beautiful surroundings, and a fun and relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely return to the Occidental Caribe

The resort is clean and tidy. The grounds are kept in good condition. Any debris from high wind/rain is immediatly cleaned up. The staff are very friendly and helpful . The food is greatand lots of it, the variety is amazing. The speciality resturants serve great dishes that taste fantastic. The rooms are clean and neat and restocked every day. A fabulous time.

This was my second trip to DR and both times I chose Occidental Caribe. Everything was awesome. Our room was beautiful and clean. The food was really good and the fruit was so fresh. Definitely planning another trip back!

Pools and beach are amazing That’s where it ends with this resort. A/C room was broken and 28 during day 27 a night. It was 29 outside Food on the buffet is worse than Cuba Cold/no variety. Smallest fruit selection I’ve ever seen To book the restaurants you need to be in line on Sunday at 6:30am or forget about it. Only book Sunday to Sunday so if you arrive Monday Tuesday Wednesday you’re out of luck. Not enough pool/beach chairs which is a disaster I have stayed at other occidental resorts and they were fantastic. This was awful. Show starts at 10pm, the bed sheets were supposed to be white but they were brownish white. Sometimes no hot water or cold water. The lunch pizza above the poolside buffet was great.

The facility was very clean. They accommodated my food allergies (gluten). A wonderful choice of food for all three meals. The Japanese à la cart was fabulous! We have been to the DR 15 times-first time beef was not an option on the grill. Only pork, chicken and calamari. Some of the bars had watered down drinks. Our room was not fully stocked-you had to request things. Other patrons did not have that issue. We will definitely return, excellent beach!

While this hotel is very large and the staff are wonderful, there is areas of the hotel that are run down. We had issues in our room the first night with water dripping from the ceiling in the washroom. We were moved to another room after many trips of going to the front desk and complaining. It was only when I spoke to a butler named Juan Carlos that we actually were moved to another room. He is the one that did everything possible to make our stay amazing. The grab bars in the shower in both of our rooms were protruding out of the wall ready to fall. The grab bars in the elevator were protruding out of the wall and one night it actually got ripped off and it was hung there for a day before someone actually removed it leaving two gaping metal holes on the wall. Food was amazing. A huge selection. I had to get up early to save beach chairs if I wanted some as they got taken up early. There is a lot though. But I stay here again? For the price probably not. If I got a good deal maybe yes. Another issue we ran into was my husband and I both got very sick 3 days before our trip was over. We ended up with a respiratory illness. With the amount of people touching the same utensils in the buffet, it's bound to happen. I would much prefer the food being served so only one person touches the utensils. I know higher end resorts have this way of doing things.

Rooms are very clean and so is the resorts grounds. Traveller with a group of 4 and a 1 year old and always found things to eat. Beach is very nice as well. Overall I would recommend this to anyone not willing to spend lots of money on fancy resorts

The resort was fine but the staff lacked emotion, no smiles and most could not speak English and finding someone that could was almost impossible. The food was always cold and the lineup for (hot) breakfasts were long. The resort itself NEEDS repairs to the rooms. Lamps were broken, shower heads were clogged, electric outlets were loose in the walls. The maids walk into rooms after 1 knock without waiting for a reply.( I got caught with my pants down) literally. They need more staff around the pools for drinks. There was only 1 per pool.

Disrespected from day one, arrived on a Friday at 2pm.. gave away our room as the locals fill the resort on the weekends.. we didn’t get a room till 8pm and we were premium level.. we got a room with 3 beds on the -1 level yes minus 1 level as our entrance was the loading dock for garbage and supplies for the rooms. Our room had cockroaches and large centipedes in the bathroom. To our dismay we were asked to come back several times a day to see if our regular premium room that we ordered was ready only to be told that they gave our room to someone else even after saying they will hold our room..We could not believe what they were telling us! I got blisters on my feet as it’s a long walk twice a day for 3 days.. 3 days later we get our room on a Monday! and ended up on a different floor from my son and grandson.. they even painted our shower stall with us already in the room while we were away on an excursion and never told us, so we ended up getting paint on us. The top at all off there was no water in the hotel for the three days we had to go to à la carts and excursions without showers so I ended up getting laundry service because our grandson did have some accidents. I miss reading the form, thinking that it was in pesos was actually an American for a load of laundry, which was basically a load of laundry at home cost us C$500 so not worth it at this resort I don’t recommend it to anybody there’s so much more. I just can’t put it in here.

Stayed here November 28th- December 5, 2025. The grounds are nice, beach good. Pools were good with lots of loungers and shade. Rooms definitely need upgrades, ceiling plaster falling, patio doors don't lock, toilet ran and leaked. My daughter and her friend had to move 5x. Food was okay. Al a cartes good. There is a language barrier but for the most part we were treated well. There are areas at resort that need to be highlighted for caution when walking. Entertainment crew very lively but seemed to pick the same people all the time. No hot water in bathroom. Buffet crew very accommodating. Bar staff wonderful.

Staffs are very politely and respectful. Pools are clean and well maintained. The Beach is clean and well cared. Foods are really tasty and so many choices to choose. Desserts are superb and also fruits are always fresh.

Rooms were only fine at best. Shower was very subpar. Leaked water everywhere and staff never left enough towels. Employees would enter room without knocking first and couldn’t or wouldn’t speak any English.

ONeil did a great job helping us book our trip. We upgraded to premium level which is where the resort fell short. The rooms were ok at best. The shower wasn’t pleasant or what I would call premium level. Very dated and in much need of proper repairs.

The grounds and the hotel itself were very nice. We had no problem with the service, staff were friendly and helpful. We had to change rooms 3 times. The first room was unclean, smelt, and the bathroom was gross. We requested a new room right away and were given one. The second room was a bit better than the first. The main room was cleaner but the bathroom was still yucky and the toilet barely flushed with each use. We requested to move again and were given a room in building 2. This room was cleaner, had a ceiling fan and looked upgrade. The bathroom was somewhat upgraded, the tub looked in newer condition. The toilet worked as it should. Although this room was better than the other two rooms the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking and left our vanity soaked all the time. I would love to go back to the Dominican Republic just not this resort.

The rooms were ok not great but there was issues that got resolved we changed rooms 2 times first room people were already in the room that was our room Second room the door didnt work the patio door did not shut the ac did not work the ceiling in the bathroom leak so we moved again to a good room other than that it was a good place

I paid extra for “Ocean Front” NOT Ocean view we got ocean view I had to look past 2 pools to see the ocean Pool views rooms cost considerably less the Ocean Front rooms. I paid for ocean front not ocean view. When I complained they changed my room (three days later) to a better room but still only ocean view. I only had to look past 1 pool to see the ocean not 2. In fact the ocean was so far you could not hear the waves just the sounds of people enjoying the pool

The ground, the pools were fine. Overall rm toilet only flushed when there was something heavier than toilet paper. The shower never did get hot for both of us. Took ages to even warm up. There were black marks all over mirror which was indicative of perhaps mold behind it. The toilet roll holder was broken and the bidet unusable. The housekeeping staff and dietary staff were wonderful. As a good fruit was very limited and food was OK.

Honest review. Staff was friendly, food was an abundance in the buffet and all staff were accommodating our group of 6 for a table together. We were there for 10 days and arrived on a Wednesday. We booked ala carte's on the Thursday with hardly a line up and could only book what was available. They apparently reset for ala carte's on Sundays which I went downstairs same time (7am) and the line up was huge. As for the ala carte's were were able to book all with the exception of Sea Food as this is only available on Wednesdays. Our favorite by far was a toss up between Dominican & Paris. The rooms are very outdated but were clean and we had no complaints as we spent very little time in our room. The beds were comfortable but the pillows could be upgraded. There are 4 floors with elevators however still a lot of walking so for those who have difficulty with this I would ask for a room close to the elevator. We were in building 7 on the 3rd floor (7321). We had the quiet side however just a peak of the beach. My cousin had room 7410 (4th floor, building 7 room 10). Their view was fantastic. Beach & pools. Casino was really small but we won $100. We would go back as the price was right.

The hotel is very old (and it shows every where) but clean. However, the food is mediocre at best and only about 5% of all the employees speak any English. It was very hard to get anything since no one understood what you're trying to say. Making reservation for ala cart restaurant was an ordeal. it took over an hour to communicate and get reservations. From all the restaurants we've tried, I only recommend the French (both food and service was great). Our toilet brook and we had to wait 16 hours for someone to come and fix it (the technician and the supervisor both didn't speak English so we couldn't talk to them). Every time we called Guest Services we were told that someone is coming or were told nothing and the person who answered just hanged up on us. When we physically went to the Guest Service we were told that there is no Technician on premises and they will call someone to come to the resort.... They wouldn't change rooms for us, so my husband and I had to go to the lobby to use the bathroom..... Over all I would give this resort 3 stars (even though they have the potential to be a 5 star resort)!

My honest review. This resort is definitely an older resort. The resort was kept clean on a daily inside and out. Of course they can not keep a cleaner at ever public washroom all day so on occasion there was a mess on a toilet or on the floor. That is no fault of the resort. Our room was a superior oceanfront room. In my head an oceanfront room is actual right close to the ocean. That is not the case an oceanfront room is actual a straight on ocean view. This should be specified. Our room was in unit one on the second floor. We were lucky and got two balconies as our room was a corner unit. That was a pleasant surprise. Our room was also the top unit which there are usually 4 floors but this section was only had 2 floors. I mention that because in many reviews there was leaks coming from units above. Just because we didn't have a unit above us did not save us from having a leak coming from above when it rained. We booked with airtransat. They sell you an oceanfront room that comes with many perks. However there was really nothing in our room that was supposed to come with it. That being said im a seasoned traveler and knew if I left notes for the maid daily and tipped with money and treats that she would bring us what we needed. She gave us new towels when requested. Stocked our fridge with pop and water. Left us beer and rum when requested. She was a lovely lady and did a fine job keeping our room cleaned and supplied with the necessities. Our room was definitely on the smaller size but ample for us as we don't spend alot of our time in our room. One issue was that we booked two superior ocean front rooms and one was in unit one and one was in unit four. That should not happen in my opinion but we made it work. We got up early Sunday morning to stand in line to reserve the a la cartes. We were able to book 4 right away but were told that we'd have to come back the following Sunday to reserve additional a la cartes. We stayed for 10 days but chose not to wait in line the following Sunday. Partially because we didn't want to line up but also because the buffet has a theme each night and the food was actually good in my opinion. My group of 5 adults also felt the same about the food. We ate at the Italian, Japanese, Dominican and Mexican a la cartes. They were all good. We had a surprise, one of our group members daughters showed up to surprise her and each restaurant allowed her to join us. Thanks for that. There was a smaller buffet by the swim up bar pool also a pizza place that served at lunch right above that buffet. We spent some days at the swim up bar pool. There was also a very shallow pool to the one side where you could sit on the bottom and relax in the water. That shallow pool hardly ever had anyone in it. That was wonderful. We of course had our favorite pool bar girls. She would bring us drinks wherever we were. We gave her money tips and fed her snacks that we brought from our country. She was a pleasure. The quiet pool was right in front of our room and we spent a few days there also. There is a bar by this pool also. There was only one day that they played music around this pool. If you want pool chairs you must get up early to put your towels on them. I hate that people do this but if you don't you will be shit out of luck. There are ample places for chairs they just don't have enough. That is definitely something the resort should rectify. The beach was stunning. Beautiful color, beautiful sand. Lots of palms on the shore line for shade. Once again a shortage of chairs. There were no umbrellas on this beach. The ocean was always wavy. This would be a deterante for some but a fun time for us. There was a different show nightly. I caught a few shows and they were average for a resort but entertaining. There are also on site shops, over priced just like other resorts. There was pool tables, a casino. Im not a gambler but was talked into going in with my group to try our luck with 20 dollars each. I left with 150 in my pocket. They have a weight room climbing wall and a trapeze. Also a disco for the night owls. Would I go back? Yes I would. This resort is bigger then I like but it was a good resort. I was worried after reading reviews but there was no need to worry. We got what we paid for.

The bar staff were the worst in the world. They stand around talking to themselves, roll their eyes and stare at you if you want to order drinks. They purse their lips when handing them over, one even kissed their teeth at me. There are queues everywhere, sometimes an hour long to get into the buffet. To order a la carte, after queuing for over 40 minutes at a time, the staff will tell us they can't book it now, and can't book it for future, but we need to book in advance, but need to book it on the day. It makes no sense. The management must surely be absent, it felt like an unorganised mess, but most importantly the whole bar staff must be fired and replaced. Waiting ages for a drink while they stand around talking to each other, pretending to be busy as the queue just builds up, is so unacceptable. The beach is great, the pool is nice, the room was good, but the staff make you feel so unwelcome and an irritance to their day makes this a 2 star hotel at best, only saved by the facilities. The staff ruined what should have been a brilliant holiday.

I have no idea what all the negative reviews are about this resort. The view, the pools are amazing! People were friendly…. Food always A LOT Of options from salads to fruit, meat and Sides! Is the service fast NO ur I wish people would put things in perspective… it’s 30 Degrees, they work 12 hr days, with few hours off in between and your ON VACATION!!!! Is it that terrible the extra minute for your Pina Colada! You want fast based go to North America! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

This resort is barely mediocre. I was disheartened on so many levels: the food, the service, the entertainment, the rooms. I was surprised by my experience, as it had been advertised as a 4.5 star resort. Our room never had towels. We had a broken toilet. Instead of feeling relaxed and regenerated, I left this resort feeling sick and tired (literally).

Beach area was fantastic! Food at buffet was okay. Premium package breakfast and lunch was excellent. Did not get everything promised within the premium package. Music was extremely loud all day long.

The beach is 5 star. Rooms are 2 star. Staff vary depending who you get- our housekeeper was 5/5 she was fantastic, however some of the bartenders should not have been in customer service. We lucked out with a good room however our friends had non stop issues for 3 days without any resolution. The beach is the best part of this resort however I wouldn’t go back.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the resort. Your company advertised it as a 4.5-star resort, but it barely meets a 3.5-star standard. We encountered plumbing issues, there were no towels in the room, and the food quality was subpar, with an abundance of low-quality options like hot dogs. This experience has made me hesitant to book future trips through TripCentral, as I feel misled by the representation of the resort on your website.

As a group we found this hotel may be suited more for the party environment yet there were a lot of kids. We found the over all noise level loud especially eating at the buffet and evening entertainment. We are a group in our 40 s . The daytime staff are friendlier than the evening staff and booking a la carts is next to impossible. We found our booking was done on wrong dates and came across others with the same issue. Rooms had to be moved due to broken facilities and it took 3 days to accommodate this. We sent booking numbers to have 3 rooms booked close together and we ended up at completely different ends of the resort. At times it felt the staff was making things more difficult than needed to be.

I wanted to write a review of this resort, something I don't normally do but there are some standout things families travelling there with small children should know. We were a family of grandparents, and two families with an infant and a baby 20 months. And very experienced world travellers. 1. If you want your rooms together, be sure to book together. We emailed the resort all reservations to get our rooms together. Despite initial responses asking us for more information and at least 6 attempts to connect with them, we were eventually ghosted. 2. Upon arrival we went the resort for assistance in getting our 3 rooms moved closer together for childcare reasons and I showed them our previous requests. We offered to be downgraded from ocean front to regular rooms to accomplish this - but every visit to the front desk we were told there was nothing they could do. Eventually, the resort offered that if we paid an additional $350USD they would give us a suite and another room nearby - but the third room would still be far away from these two rooms. So, our view is that they were not helpful. 3. They shut off many of the elevators during the day - so getting strollers down to the lobby proved challenging every day. Two people had to move the stroller and baby manually down the staircases on numerous occasions. 4. Getting milk by the bottle was accommodated, but we ran into difficulty getting anyone to give us more milk for the night feedings. Bring more than one bottle to be filled for your baby just in case. 5. The resort would NOT confirm a crib for the two babies before our trip, and there were none in the rooms despite the babies being on the reservations. This we felt was unacceptable and we were thankful to have brought the travel beds. 6. For toddlers, note there is nowhere to get them a meal between 4-6:30 pm. After a day in the sun, the toddler was exhausted and couldn't last until 6:30 - we had to bring a travel plate with lid and make their dinner from the lunch buffet, then run it up to the room fridge for storage. There should be an early dinner option for families. 6:30 is the earliest. 6. The Pools was dirty! Balloons, bugs, hair ties and other items just floating around in the pool and water had a grey cast to it. Need better skimming and testing of the water for safety and health of the guests. Folks - this is not whining and I am a very well travelled person who has never written a resort review before. I did write the hotel to give them this feedback but the concerns I outlined in our holiday week with the Occidental Caribe were glossed over in their reply. They said 'hopefully the beach and setting made up for the issues we experienced". I was aghast at this response. Occidental Caribe needs to do better here and most issues we feel are with the management and staff attitude towards families with children.

Cons ? Shower has no pressure and the head is for short people, have to hug the wall to get wet ? No welcome drink, as advertised ? No servers at the pools to help with drinks ? Says mini bar in room on dis but it’s actually mini fridge it 0 liqour in room ? Toilet barely flushes and if it plugs you wait 3 hours for them to fix it ? Pillows are clumpy and old and they dont give new ones ? No fitted sheets just sheets used instead ? Food has no flavour or horrible flavour. I was disappointed every time we went to the buffet usually only 1 or 2 items seemed edible ? Room service doesn’t show (waited 7 hours for toilet paper and still had to go find a janitor to get some) ? The service desk only has 2 people working and your waiting forever ? Room cards constantly stop working and got locked outta my room. Had to wait at least 30 for them to reactivate my cards which only takes a min ? Bar service sucks. Barely anyone making drink or they’re annoyed that they have to 6 people behind to bar 1 making drinks at a time ? Barely any AC and it was humid ? The power goes out every night couple times a day ? Every pushy with trying to sell you stuff CONSTANTLY ? Excursion that sounded so nice was horrible. Sorna island. Boat ride was way too long and the drive. They fed us horrible food and it says it’s 9 hours long but we were gone for 13 mostly just travel not enjoying the ocean. Also a couple having sex in front of little kids. 9 hours travel 3 hours on the actual excursion ? Hard to get into the restaurants that you need to make reservations at ? Very busy on the weekends cause the locals come in and they seem to be very entitled. one lady threw her drink at the bartender for serving us after we waited 10 minutes for service. if you dont speak their language they ignore you. ? Our room got too hot and we wanted to air out our room and they told us we weren’t allowed to have our room door open to let the air circulate - You have to be at the pool by 5 am to secure a spot at the pool as people will go down and save spots and make it impossible to have seats at the pool. - Lots of false advertisment and lack of care. - Constantly try to trick you into time share meetings with sister resorts. - pool closes at 6:50 Pros ? The beach is beautiful although the waves are a bit rough if you’re wanting something a bit calm ? They have some stores and can charge them to the room ? Two big pools ? The japanise restaurant was entertaining and great food ? The theatre is great and great entertainment ? They clean the rooms well, well at least the floors. More Date of stay: April 2024

This hotel was getting some fresh paint outside, stairwells and balconies. The rooms inside are in need of updates to plumbing, air conditioning and cosmetics. Many beach chairs were broken or in need of repair.

Day 1- get here at 9 pm room isn’t ready, the lady at the front desk tells us to go to the restaurant and wait. Doesn’t tell us where restaurants are, not given a map or any information about what is when or where. Finally get to room about 45 minutes later and call down for room service only for them to tell us it’s closed even though the room service card says 11:30. Tells us the snack bar is open but can’t tell us how to get there other than “umm it’s orange and white?” We decide to give up and just go to bed. Day 2- we got drinks no problem and found the buffet on our own. Food was delicious. Went to one of the shops, they don’t take cash just CC but machine wasn’t working. No big deal, they can charge to your room. We decided to go to the pool. Plenty of chairs, nobody saving with towels and we found two under an umbrella. Pool is perfect temperature to make you feel refreshed. Although it was a little gross, there were bubbly sections of whitish sludge. Pool is huge and majority is quite clean. Our maid is so sweet and everyone else has been very helpful and friendly today. I’m not impressed with the amount of cockroaches I keep finding in the room. Called room service for water, never came. Asked for towels from a maid in the hall, Said shed be back in 5 min, never came back. Beach is beautiful and warm. Hard to find a lounge chair. The guys that set up tables to sell stuff are extremely pushy and touchy feely. They are very flirty and will use any tactic to make a sale. Buffet always has something delicious. We have eaten everything and not been sick. A doctor recommended taking a chewable pepto bismol each morning and I guess it works. No tummy issues. After a few days more people started saving lounge chairs by the pool, so bad to the point people were sitting on the cement on their towel near lounge chairs that had been saved with nobody on them for hours. The beach was beautiful but very wavy, some days the undertow was so strong but they did have the red flag up and were on top of the warnings. Overall I had a great time, it was extremely humid so the water always felt great. I probably wouldn’t go back due to how busy it is and no control over saving seats.

Wasn’t a fan of this resort. The food, pool and beach were great. Bug the customer service was terrible and the rooms were badly kept. There were 2 days when I didn’t get my room clean and had to call the froth desk multiple times to get a cleaner to come in. Won’t be returning here

It is a large resort the beach is beautiful my room was clean and functional. Food was adequate, the drinks were plentiful. I was there to relax swim and read books and had a good time. Not high end but felt safe and didn’t have any issues.

Resort is beautiful and well maintained. Food is amazing at breakfast, ok at lunch then suppers were great at the buffet. Pizza place is amazing above the snack bar. The ocean and beach is so clean and breathtaking! Loved my time here.

The beach is large with lots of chairs, it’s honestly spectacular. The pools are a great layout for families although they were far from clean and if you want a shady area to sit you have to go out at about 5 am to mark your spot. The food was enjoyable and the a la cart restaurants were very good. It was difficult to get an early reservation in order to eat before the babies had to go to bed, you have to go down to guest services very early and request this and then go back later in the day to confirm. The service was overall quite poor, that’s not to say all employees were unhelpful but it was a mixed bag depending on who you got. I had to fill bottles of milk for my baby and many employees would give me a carton for the room but I did have one woman flat out refuse and only offered me a cup which wouldn’t fill even the whole bottle. Also there is no non-dairy milk option so if you or your child has an allergy this would be an issue. We were travelling with family and young babes so we asked for rooms to be close together ahead of time and were refused any help both ahead and at the resort when we landed. We also asked to reserve cribs and we’re told they were first come first serve so we had to bring our own travel cribs to ensure our babes had a safe place to sleep. If we didn’t ask ahead we could have shown up with no where for our babies to sleep. The rooms are dated which wasn’t a big deal to us but the toilets didn’t flush very well and the room wasn’t always cleaned daily, we each had a day where a room wasn’t cleaned or towels weren’t replaced. Overall the resort is a great size and the pools and amenities are great for young families but I would say the service really needs to level up to match the same standard.

We loved our 9 days at Occidental Caribe. Check-in was slow but afterwards, everything was just perfect. The hotel is gorgeous, room was dated but comfortable and clean. The grounds are spectacular. The buffet had lots of variety and we always ate too much. The a la cartes were enjoyable. The pizza at the beach was to die for! We would definately go back! This resort is very large and also very noisy, has a party vibe so is not ideal for those looking for peace and quiet. But if your looking for a magnificent beach and lots of fun, this is the place!

The hotel looks very nice but unfortunately when you get your room regardless of upgrades or new room selection they are all very un clean … our rooms bathroom was really dirty the toilet paper roll was missing so it was left on the garage can that was dirty the shower had soap scum all over the glass and the tub was stained really bad… under the sink you could see dry blood on the walls. The bed was comfortable but the sheets had holes in them. Our patio door was broken if an emergency we wouldn’t have got out. The tv didn’t work they finally sent someone to fix it on the last day of the trip. The air conditioner was really dirty and I believe the reason I left with a chest infection as so did other guests and they also figured it was from poor air. It took hours to check in and get the room situation figured out I feel I wasted a good part of the day especially when you only have a few days. The food was ok always the same but fruit was always fresh. The washrooms in lobby were always being cleaned…well mopped I didn’t see any cleaning other then a mop. The main pool outside was full of algae that was transferred to my husbands white t shirt …kinda gross.. The beach was beautiful and clean I wouldn’t recommend or return to this particular resort.

The hotel was clean and mostly well maintained. The beach was great, clean and the chairs were well spaced out. It was difficult to get a 2nd coffee or glass of wine, probably to lack of staff. The food was plentiful and ok.

Older building ( not an issue for me ) Room is alright some stuff might be broken. Your toilet will not work . The pool and beach are stunning. You will have people harassing you but that's everywhere. The food was hit or miss and 1 of my friends got food poison 3 times within 8 days. The service is awful, they do not care what so ever about their jobs. The game room is a joke. Pool tables are on it's last legs. This is my 14th trip and by far this resort comes in last place. I'm personally going back to punts cana next year but at the majestic.

The Room was small, smelled Musty, Had to get the safe fixed twice. the bed was comfortable but it was too small, we wanted to sleep together so the two double beds didn't work for us. The coffee pot did not work, I reported it but it was not resolved. I got food poisoning from the Japanese Resturant the Pool was great. The buffet was good most of the time. The staff were polite and very helpful. The drinks were very good. My Husband got eaten alive with Bug bites.

Rooms are a bit out dated and not super clean in the bathroom but not horrible.the rest of the resort is very clean Buffet isn’t amazing but found stuff to eat. Good entertainment, pool is very nice and big. Waves were very large at the beach and lots of people selling stuff on the beach. We did the tour with dune buggies to the cave/chocolate/ coffee and it was fun for $50. Also the boat tour that takes you to snorkel/ sea walk and that was fun

This is the worst resort we have ever stayed at. Our room was old and dirty looking, our ceiling leaked, every time we tried to use the bathroom tap it came off. There were someone’s clothes left in the dresser, my 13 year old son found a disgusting used tampon in the end table drawer. Our safe didn’t work, we had no ac so our sheets were always damp! When we brought all of this to the attention of the front desk they shrugged their shoulders and said all other rooms are occupied. No compensation was given, they didn’t care. Our sheets weren’t washed once the week we stayed and my sons sheets looked like they weren’t washed before we got there. The food at the buffet was terrible, the trays were filled with the exact same thing every single day. 17 out of 23 people in our group got food poisoning including myself and I spent 24 hours sick in bed. The pool is nice and the entertainment is good, the beach is beautiful but I would never go back even if it was free

We went with a large group and no complaints here. Room was decent food was good and there was no shortage of fun and entertainment. We had a blast and would definitely go back. Great price and next time would bring the kids as well.

Unfortunately, the hotel was old and the food was not of high quality. The rooms are very old and everything is broken. Cockroaches are running around the room and in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant is of rather low quality, unsanitary. On the penultimate day of vacation, I got poisoned and was very sick all day and could not even move. Then I found out that I was not the only one who got poisoned. I really liked the beach, it is very nice and clean and the hotel grounds are quite clean and well-kept.

Big resort kid friendly Beach was okay room were hit and miss some leaking water toilet not flashing Food ok For what we paid compared to other places service was very slow. Lots of lineup. Pizza was good but had to wait over an hour. Drinks were OK. I need to get up early to get Chairs.

Hotel is dated and requires many upgrades (no phones worked in our room and having to walk to guest services was a hike, shower leaked at the base which required a huge bath towel to soak it all, beer was only added to fridge if it was requested daily and since we had no phone, we were always at guest services). Areas such as the sports bar, exclusive area on beach with a bar for those who pay into premium pkg no longer exists. This is a big resort on beautiful grounds...awesome beach which you can walk for hours. Food was good...we didn't starve...it's all about what each individual likes. Staff was stretched out and line ups at the bar were at times insane. There were rumours floating around that the resort was going to be shut down - some said for good and others stated for a year of full renos...so not sure if lack of services is due to this. They are slowing moving away from anything paper - map of grounds, cocktail menu for the bars and food menus for a la carte restaurant all on QR codes and again not all up to date...not always convenient when you don't want to carry your electronic devices every second of the day. At this time, I would not be able to recommend to go somewhere that I am not willing to go back to under the resorts current conditions.

Everything was very clean although it is an older resort. There is something to say about a well oiled machine... The food was decent and the beach beautiful. The pools were clean. They definitely need more loungers. The staff were very friendly. They aren't consistent with stocking water/ beer in your fridge.. but all around... I would go back.

Pros -Very clean -VERY friendly service -Like the layout of the resort -Food was good -Excellent entertainment staff. You could tell that they put a lot of effort in and seemed to enjoy their jobs -Special note to the pool towel girl at the 'quiet' pool. Always had a big welcoming smile. I think her name is Maria Cons -Food service in the Buffet and in the restaurants was very chaotic. Lots of servers and managers but did not appear to be serving guests. Did not always get what we ordered in the restaurants, but we were fed. -Resort is dated but comfortable -Mini bar was not restocked regularly

The resort overall is ok but the rooms need updating. The à la carte restaurant are good and service was efficient. The entertainment was great but the nightly shows were never on time. Food was ok but most of the time it was cold. Would not go again probably would go for a 5star next time.

I am not impressed with this resort at all the rooms are so bad that they have leaks and broken safe and fridge and television. The line ups everywhere are just ridiculous. It’s unfortunate that for the first few days there I saw the maintenance man more than the bartender that you have to wait 10-15 minutes for a drink that tastes like garbage. We had blood stains on our sheets When we asked for a new room they said there were none. However when we spoke to others that had near the same issues got a new room and it was upgraded!!!! Not impressed with my vacation at all, I always go to Cuba and someone recommended punta Cana which cost me near 500$ more per person!!! Looks like Cuba is my go to!!

Karol Kim and I book a trip with you Jan 19/24 till Jan 28/24 to Punta cana Occidental Caribe. It was are first time with Transat and all inclusive very disappointed first they told us the plane would be delayed for 10 minutes after an hour and 30 minutes we finally left they never ask us if we would like to have something to drink. Arriving to the hotel we have to stay in line to registered it took us 1 hour and a half before we got served then the lady at the desk told us to go eat something and to come back and then she would give us are room number so we did but when we came back for the second time it took us another 1 hour and a half before getting our room number it was so hot I didn't feel good at all I thought I was going to pass out finally we got are room but the card didn't work go back down stairs wait another 15 minutes Finally go back to the room at this point we we're so exhausted didn't have time to examine the room we went straight to bed. Next day we realize that we didn't have any towels and the room was not too clean. Because we pay extra to upgrade that we were supposed to have beer in the fridge slippers and bathrobe we didn't have nothing like that. Food keep repeating lunch supper was cool no taste I had better food on a cruise. Language barrier they should have more people speak English and French. Very disappointed customer it was our first experience all inclusive and didn't like it at all we did 4 cruises and never been disappointed it would take a miracle for us to do this again. I know nothing will come out of this but I'm sure the media would be interesting to find out about our experience. Very disappointed customers

Two couples and one child aged 7 stayed at this resort on the last week of January in separate rooms side by side. The beach and hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our rooms were by the swim up bar ground floor. The real kicker for us was the rooms. We arrive and neither of our safes work, friend had no hot water for 3 days, both tvs broken and replaced, brown water leaking from my washroom ceiling, clog in both showers that turned your shower into a bath, toilet leaking mine, lamp had hole in shade and cord had wire exposed held together by merets mine, someone's thongs were found on the floor at the side of the bed in friends room and blood on sheets? We saw maintenance every day and saw them more than the bartenders. Day 1 we waited 4hrs in room for someone to show. We asked for other rooms and was told there was nothing avail. After chatting with others, found that most people got moved to a different room? Maintenance throws towels in the ceiling to fix leaks, TV's are taken from other rooms. Everything had a bandaid. The room issues created unnecessary stress and put a damper on our vacation. Food: buffet was ok. Lots of options. Specialty restaurants: Japanese was excellent, Dominican was excellent, Mexican was good. Good chicken wings at the pool restaurant. Bar: ran out of beer on day 2? I was really shocked that there was no beer for 2 days. We had to purchase Corona at the store. Entertainment was good. Kids- waterpark was good. Kids club- had lots for the toddler age and not much for older kids. Upon leaving the resort we get to the airport and the bus back door is jammed and driver couldn't open it. The bus driver had to get a broom handle from the airport to open latch from the inside. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. We were severely disappointed and felt ripped off.

This was my first time at this resort which was highly recommended by people who have gone in past, some of them where there at the same time I was. The rooms were not clean, I had hair in the bathtub (not mine). Coffee machine as well as TV not working reported and never fixed. After reporting the poor maintenance of the cleaning staff, upon my return that night to my room in my entrance was a patio table and chair that blocked the entrance (my patio furniture was on my balcony). Day 4 the bathroom ceiling was leaking, after a very well deserved complaining at the front desk finally got one competent clerk to change room, upon arriving in the room the bathroom floor was flooded from a leaking ceiling, TV still not working but at least this room was clean. I would never recommend this resort to anyone.

We liked the outside of the resort pools were great and the beach was fantastic but the rooms are overdue for serious update…the restaurant buffet was a big disappointment food was not that great and the service staff was horrible we waited for drinks to arrive and table to get cleaned for ever ..

Hotel installations were quite dated, a lot of maintenance is required around the hotel. Bathrooms in the rooms need to be improved. Staff is very friendly though. Beach and location are both amazing. No service on the beach, nor pool area. Enough food diversity, options to please anyone. Difficult to get cutlery and coffee and beverages during peek buffet hours… Restaurants a la carte aren’t amazing, difficult to reserve too. If you can get a good deal and are not too picky I’d recommend. The hotel to me is more like a 3.5 star and not a 4 star hotel. We still enjoyed ourselves, but this review is a heads up for people that are picky for the elements mentioned above.

The hotel facilities and location was amazing, beautiful and clean. There was not enough reclining seats on the beach area to enjoy being on the beach. The staff of the hotel were not friendly or welcoming to us at all. They made no attempt to even acknowledge our presence when talking to us or even make eye contact with us. One really friendly and polite person was Felix De Jesus the bell boy who greeted us when we arrived. He was always pleasant and very helpful. The service in the dining area was very bad. We would order drinks but they never came. Line ups for food were too long and staff seemed annoyed when you asked them for something.

Way too old and outdated. On the stairs the ramps are rusty and one part of it fell down. In our room, the bathtub with the shower glass is not properly isolated so there was puddle on the floor after each shower. And absolutely no pressure in the shower and we got one day without hot water. The curtains are so far from the window and there is no shutters so first sunlight you're up! There was heavy rain one night and there was lots of water on the floor leaking from the walls. The amenities are good, the kids slides are so fun the pools are nice too and the Kid club is ok but outdated too especially the toys but Ana who runs it is sooooo sweettttt. As per the food not too bad but lot of pork in most dishes. The waiters are very very slow and lot of people because only one buffet restaurant so line up all the time and food is going away really fast but not refilled fast enough.. There is another small beach restaurant but choices are very limited to junk food. As per the two bars which serve coffee they only open at 10am and they are using a machine not coffee maker which is also very slow... Waiting time approximately 20min... horrible... The shows in the evening are very nice. Not the best resort I have been too especially for the price and the brand. Last thing wifi is terrible wasn't able to work from here at all

Amazing beach! The room was not the best and all elevators were not working but I was so happy with the beach I didn't care about the room or anything else. Service at the hotel and restaurants are good. Food was good but I wish there were more vegetables offered.

We booked here by accident, one word difference...oops! So how did it go? Food - I found the buffet itself to be the best with a variety of foods, hard working staff and a warm friendly hostess (ill call her Flo, first 3 letters of her name). Grounds - were very nice and constantly being taken care of, from painting to grass cutting. Rooms - comfy bed, high ceilings, balcony views..so what if I had to tighten a screw by hand or jiggle the toilet handle once in awhile. Maids were friendly and busy, nice job ladies! Bathroom/shower were great. Pools - very nice, no complaints. Beach - awesome, little chopey at times but it made it fun. Lots of palm trees to grab some shade and plenty of chairs to go around. Front desk - my man Martinez always hustling for people in several languages, he was hard working and accommodating, give this man a raise! Bartenders Juan & Sandy were friendly and knew how to handle the crowd. Overall 8/10, much better experience then a lot of reviews I read. Minor complaints, other entitled travelers and mosquitos only in the theater. Oh, Tony the Air Transat rep on the resort was friendly and informative too. In booking incorrectly and initially trying to swap hotels with air Transat was a joke and not helpful, the hotels made stronger attempts to accommodate but we ended up staying here and were pleasantly surprised. I'd go again. PS we did the monkeyland excursion, it was great, thx Kevin our guide. There was a coffee farm too, with a funny informative gent giving the presentation. Offered reasonably priced alcohol, coffee, cream etc with no hounding, impressed. Until next vacation, don't forget your drinking cups ✌️...

My wife and I really enjoyed the buffet. It had plenty of options and they changed every day. At times it got busy and it took just a few extra minutes to have our table cleaned, but nothing serious. In the buffet, Editania was very helpful and always greeted us with a great smile! We only went to one restaurant with a reservation, the Japanese tepanyakki table. Food was good, but it was very hot (no AC no ceiling fans). Based on that experience we didn't book other restaurants. Instead we went back to the buffet during dinner which had large open areas with big fans and some breeze. The beach was absolutely beautiful.

I wasn’t impressed with this resort at all. I will not be back and I would suggest to anyone looking to book this resort to definitely reconsider. Food at the buffet is horrible, hotel is outdated and needs major repairs and cockroaches were found in our room.

I wrote a lengthy review on TripAdvisor you can check out. I can see why Canadians do not want to go to Punta Cana. Their service is so poor and the maintenance of the hotel is lacking enough that Cuba or a 3 star in mexico is better than Occidental. We tipped everyone and still did not receive mediocre service, let alone good service. We managed to visit 1 a la carte only. Lots of locals on weekends. Rude, cold servers, except for 1 lady. Beach was choppy. Lots of vendors. Not worth it.

The hotel was very clean the staffs was very polite and courteous. One down side we didn’t receive a face cloth for the 5 days we were there, and only one bath towel per person per day. I would visit this hotel again

The place is very large but still very close to the beach. The staff are friendly as well as the grounds keepers. We found no problems with the food. Very abundant and hot. Great deserts and fruit as well.

Too much music noise from one of the pools all day long. A liitle dated hotel but very nice. Food pretty good. Staff very friendly. The air conditioning did not cool the room quite enough. Elaborate different display of free alcohol outside dining room every night.

The Hotel is so vast and it really, really needs a lot of TLC (tender loving care) My observation for our 12 days stays are as follows; Public areas are plenty but it tends to be crowded, especially during Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Al Cazar, which is the main Dining/ Buffet area is always traffic and with all the huge side windows are open, which it allows few beautiful birds to help themselves to pick up foods from the buffet ; fruits, breads, rice, etc. in and out during breakfast and lunch. I have picture on them. Beach lounges chairs are outdated and plenty of them are broken, that we need moved around the coconut trees in order to get some shade, since they don’t have any open hut 🛖 at all. Public washrooms are also problematic due to lack of water pressures, especially for the urinals in the men’s washrooms. This problem also occurred in our own assigned room that we need to flush the toilet twice or three times. We also experienced to be bitten by mosquitoes every night while we’re sleeping in our bed for the 12 nights that we stayed, in which we found them in the following morning fully feed from our blood 🩸. The food was salty and lack of serving spoons. People are using the same one from one dishes to another; pork, fish, or beef and fish. Our only consolation was that the staff were very friendly and as they said ´´ We are only working here ´´.

Great pools, food, people, and the best beach ever! There were a few minor disappointments made to the resort since 2018 and they’re working hard to return it to the new normal. Nothing major for the fun in the sun we had 😎

We stayed here as a couple in January , it a Beautiful location, with clean pools & grounds, everything else contributed to a horribly disappointing 2 Star all inclusive vacation experience Buffet- Overall Dirty & completely unorganized, all guests at this large resort are herded into the one buffet, food is inconsistent, labelling of foods are incorrect & some days had no fruit or butter, cereal or yoghurt or fresh vegetables ,bread& pastries was always full, food was of very poor quality As a result of a total lack of leadership, Servers were all overworked & unable to provide service couldn't even get a coffee or cutlery on some days the crowds were overwhelming A la carte restaurants have lovely servers but still, food was really awful Not enough beach chairs, most are broken & dirty we had to find 2 chairs at 6am every morning to secure a beach chair there is no pool or beach beverage service, unless you go to the entertainment pool & sit in the pool at bar. & we had no pool towels for first 3 days despite multiple attempts Luckily we brought our own towels AC in room would not work, tried numerous attempts with resort to bring below 24.5. Degrees, we were pocked out of our room 3 times, no explanation or apologies we had mould in our entire shower stall, our housekeeper tried to remove it with bleach but to no avail

Long waits for check ins and no beverage offered while waiting. Rooms were bad broken tile trim left on floor.Glass shower never cleaned with soap scum and water spots on it. T.V. didn't work at all. Safe never worked. Called down to get someone to fix it but they never showed up. Toilet didn't flush. Had to find maid to pour stuff down it everything. We went two days without towels and was never any face cloths. Had to use our beach towel. The blow dryer didn't work. Room card kept deactivated had to go to front desk and wait every time. The buffet food was cold and hard to find a table. The waiters wouldn't ask you for drinks and there was never any spoons on table and if you asked you might get a plastic one. On the good side the grounds are well maintained and the beach is nice.i don't usually make reviews cause I am not fussy but had to make an exception for this resort. Everyone we talked to said the same. Really would not recommend this resort 😕

The hotel rooms are outdated in need of a renovation. Public areas are nice enough, but the furniture is in need of repair or replacement. Lots of broken chairs.. Pool is lovely, beach is excellent. Customer service at this hotel was horrible. We were were supposed to arrive in the evening, but due to a flight delay we did not arrive until the next morning at 1030am and were not allowed to check in until 3pm (their normal check in time) . Their guest services could barely speak English and were seemingly there to help only with dinner reservations in their specialty restaurants. We were supposed to have 4 reservations included in our package and were only able to obtain one reservation. The restaurant was only half full, I assume this was the case for the rest of them as well. Food was ok, not great, not bad. Bar service was excellent from the bar to the servers bringing drinks to our table/poolside. Tip these people please - they deserve it. We did find one large cockroach in our room. Only once, but it should be mentioned. The package we booked should have included: Bathrobes - did not ever get Slippers - did not ever get Beer in the fridge (replenished Daily) - never provided A bottle of Rum - never provided Coca Cola in the fridge (replenished daily) - no complaints (after $20 day 2 tip) Water in the fridge (replenished daily) - no complaints (after $20 day 2 tip) Beach Towels in the room (had to pick these up at the pool, not a big deal). Room did not have face cloths or a bath mat. We received a bathmat on day 5. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. We didn't let any of this affect our vacation, but we would never stay in this hotel again.

We were a group of 6 leaving from Halifax NS joining two other couples from Toronto and Manitoba to arrive in Punta Cana on February 26, 2023 at 10:30pm. Our flight was delayed and we did not arrive at the resort until 10:30 am on February 27, 2023. Although we paid for our rooms, no rooms were available upon arrival which was upsetting as we had no sleep with all the delays. We were told to check back at the front desk at 1pm then 2pm then 3pm. Our upgraded room was to included Beach towels in room, welcoming Rum, robe/slippers and beer in fridge. We had none of that although later in the week customer service provided us with the rum. As well, we were to receive 4 meals at restaurants however we could not make reservations until we received a room. Once we finally were given a room and we went to customer service to book reservations they told us there were no reservations available. We challenged this and did get reservations however it added stress to the trip. Again more stress to our vacation. The bathroom towels were not consistent and often we were short. We had a leak in our bathroom which the maid was clearly aware as she placed a towel underneath. I am not faulting the maid crew as it clearly appears to be a supply issue for towels. The clientele for the first number of days were families from infants to grandparents. The day before we left buses upon buses arrived with student groups and the resort became unenjoyable and we could not wait to leave. The resort and our carrier should have warned us of that when booking. We requested a late check out on our last day due to our flight time however they would not give it even though we did not use the first night due to our delayed arrival and they subsequently received payment twice for that night. No late check out even though we only received 6 of the 7 nights we paid for. Very disappointing.

The hotel was mediocre at best. We had booked a superior room with a king sized bed. Our assigned room had two double beds. It did have a fantastic view of the ocean. The room was supposed to be stocked with water, pop, a bottle of rum, beer and snacks. The water was hit and miss dependant upon what they had on the cart. We never had beer or snacks supplied to the room. We eventually got a bottle of rum after speaking to guest services twice and our Air Transat Representative twice. When we tried to book dinners in the restaurants, we were met with great resistance and told on Day 1 that there was no space available in any of the restaurants. We refused to leave customer service until we had some bookings as our package allowed for four choices. The food in the restaurants was good but they were only half full so I am not sure why it was so difficult to get a reservation. Any time we went to customer service for an inquiry, we were told to come back later as no one was available to assist us. Overall I would say the resort did not live up to the promised package and the building was somewhat run down. We enjoyed the weather, but were generally disappointed with how we were treated while there - the remainder of our group had an even worse experience due to a delayed flight. They gave away their rooms so they were not able to get into a room until 4 pm on the day of their arrival after having been travelling all night long! I blame it on the management of he resort as the workers- with the exception of Guest Services did the best they could with what they had.

The resort wasn't anything special, the sink was clogged, the toilet only sometime flushed. There definitely were not enough loungers on the beach. The food was ok, nothing special. The staff were friendly. The a la carts booked very fast.

Before leaving for our trip, I read the reviews and wondered what we got ourselves into. I thought that everyone has a different opinion so I'll come with an open mind. Issues started when we got there. Tried 7 different swipe cards and none worked so we couldn't leave our room until it got serviced. Had to sit in our room until 2:30 pm the first day until maintenance came ( we called 4 times before someone came). Batteries replaced. Both patio doors could not lock and we were an end unit and anyone could have gone through the windows in the hallway and jump right onto our balcony). What everyone said about towels is correct. One towel for 2 of us for showering and NO FACECLOTH'S !! I'm sorry but I wash my face every night but they do not have any. Sheets were not changed for the 8 days that we were there. Used coffee maker in room for coffee in morning and were not given sufficient bottled water to make it. Only 2 bottles of pop put in the fridge and they froze alongside with everything in your fridge. Yes, rooms are very dated (orange couch and wing chairs ??) and both the couch and chairs were very uncomfortable to sit in. I have had past issues with back pain and this furniture did not help the cause. Majority of the staff do not speak English and a lot of them are rude (you say Ola to them and they just walk right by you). Seriously, you need to get up at 6 am to grab a chair at either the beach or the pool. By 7:30 am; all chairs had towels on them and you could not get one. Minimum 2 hour wait to reserve at the a la carte restaurants. A lot of people complained about this. We were fortunate and with being premium, we could go to the premium lounge and book. Buffet is not really edible. 4 slice toasters, only one side worked (could only do 2 slices at a time) so you had to wait. This was for both toasters available. Not enough tables available. If you want a real Mojito or Pina Colada, good luck. These come out of a slushie machine like 7-11. No water sports equipment available. We like kayaking and would of loved to do this on the days that the water was calm. Pros :The beach was beautiful as you could walk for miles and it was just sand. Pools were clean too. Every year we go away and just accept any situations that may arise however, with this place, it seemed like it was one thing after another. Very frustrating when you are on vacation and you are having to deal with issues on a daily basis.

This hotel in its prime would have been beautiful. Unfortunately the upkeep on the buildings have not been done and it shows. As for the food reviews - all of what you have read is true. Food is cold, and constantly empty. This is not the hotel for good food!!! Also they don't seem to have a handle on the volume required for the amount of people staying there. We heard constant complaints from many other guests as well. The hotel was always running out of dishes, cutlery, tables for patrons, and when you could find one, it was dirty and you had to try to flag down someone to bus the table for you, and hopefully bring beverages or cutlery. (which, believe me took some effort and time!) Food quality was almost average on it's best day. Don't try the burgers at the pool restaurant - horrendous! A-la-carte? - good luck on getting one, unless you are up and in line on Sunday morning by 6 am...Otherwise you are out of luck! The shows are way too late in the evening (Starting at ten) We did stay up and watch two of them (Circ and Las Vegas show) which were entertaining, but should have been much earlier in the evening for guests to enjoy! The beach is beautiful! Loved walking the stretch daily and the water was amazing as well. It's too bad that the management isn't on top of this, as this is a prime location, and stately looking buildings, it's a shame it's being let go. We would go back to the area, on that beach but not to that hotel again.

Once we arrived at the hotel, there were a few things missing.....we were supposed to receive a welcome drink and priority check in. Once in our room, there was supposed to be a bottle of rum and a coupon for the casino. We did ask for it the next day at the front desk. The coffee maker in the room didn't work. There was a broken lamp and most of the hydro outlets didn't work. The beds were comfortable. The food was good. The resort overall was pretty clean. The nightly entertainment was good.

The staff, mainly the ones in the restaurant were friendly and nice. The hotel in itself needs a COMPLETE overhaul. The rooms and everything everything within, were EXTREMELY dilapidated, run-down. And yes, I'm aware that it's a third-world country but that doesn't mean that the bathtubs and toilets have to be clogged for days. Unfortunately, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Upon arrival and check in, things appeared to be a little gloomy. This hotel is very dark and dated. We changed rooms 4 different times in 1 day. The situations varied from. cleanliness, broken safe, broken AC , and every room had a broken patio door lock, this appeared to be standard. The beach was gorgeous but difficult to find both beach chairs and pool chairs. Food was sub-par , comparable to Cuba standards. Will not go back to this hotel in future. When we discussed our concerns and grievances with our travel representative , we were informed that this hotel is the lowest on their scale of hotels and we basically got what we paid for , 1 star hotel at $1800,00 per person . Apparently, the ratinting of this hotel is not correct as it claims to be a 4 star. On the positive side of things, we missed the polar vortex! Something good came out of this!

Hotel is outdated. Rooms have many issues and staff won’t even come to check when you report it. Food is horrible. Room equipment is broken or won’t work. Beach is nice and staff are friendly. Do not waist your money more of a 1or 2 star resort.

Hotel is in great location, beach is wonderful. Staff are plentiful and very happy to please. The rooms themselves need $ and tlc. The food is plentiful but overcooked unfortunately because selection was great and varied.

The hotel grounds was beautiful. The beach was clean. The poolside had lounging areas that was quite accessible. The rooms were less than desirable. my experience. Upon arrival once we got to room, we immediately had to return to front desk to change rooms which ultimate had to be done 4 times for several different reasons. Example the lights did not work, the bathrooms were disgustingly, dirty, the sliding door to the balcony did not lock due to locks were broken the bedsheets had brown marks all over them, I would definitely 100% never recommend this hotel to anyone personally I would never go back to that hotel. The staff was amazing the entertainment I give it a 60% could be better. When booking my vacation I did my research and this particular hotel was rated 4 1/2 star my opinion it was a one star at the most.

Where do I begin. The first room I had, the door jam was broken (as if it had been kicked in), the room was not clean, tables had sticky surface, bathroom wasn’t clean, (pubic hairs everywhere) safe didn’t work. The building itself required some TLC, the grounds and pool areas were great. I ended up upgrading my room which was in much cleaner, although it had a musty smell. There was a shortage of towels and some days I had to find someone from house keeping to get a towel to shower. The food was disappointing, very bland and limited variety. There was a shortage of lounge chairs for both the pool and beach had to get up at 5am to get a longe chair. I was also surprised that most of the staff spoke very little English which communication difficult. Bottom line I feel this property is not 4 star, definitely not worth the price paid. Would definitely not return to this resort.

First of all, we are not fussy people and usually close our eyes on lots of things, but this place beats it all. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Rooms are old and smell like mold, plumbing is rusty and needs major repairs. The stuff seems to be not motivated. Be prepared to deal with issues as simple a as getting a beach chair, towels and finding table to eat. I had to wake up at 6 am in the morning to make reservations to restraints. Pros: beach and hotel grounds are beautiful. Short: choose different place to spend your vacation if you can

The front desk service was terrible! Took 3 hours to get a room! Our bathroom flooded everyday, toilet leaked. Our safe broken, patio door doesn’t lock. Other people had the same key card coded to our room. 5 people just walked in! A la Carte restaurants were all booked up. No one ever answered the front desk phone all week. Said there was a 24 snack bar, there wasn’t! Not enough chairs at pool or ocean. People were fighting over them! Food was just ok. Disco was in the basement like a dungeon that smelled like a pool and smoke. I DO NOT recommend this hotel!

Hotel was okay but in need of major updating. Hotel room was very moist and lots of mold. Hotel is family friendly for little ones with many activities Hotel seemed to be lacking staff most likely due to covid causing longer waits for food and drinks

We stayed for a week Jan 15/22 we had to change rooms once due to mould and mildew smell room was out dated and disgusting! Our second room had no working TV for two days the staff are rude and the maids to the bare minimum. No fancy towels barely had clean towels to shower everyday. The towel service by the pool was just as bad never had towels on site to exchange always had to wait and try throughout the day. The food was no better would recommend the buffet over the a la cart French and Italian were beyond disgusting French charged for wine and Italian was not edible and nothing fancy overall this resort is a 2 star would not recommend

We did not enjoy this hotel. The rooms were so uncomfortable and very poor. The quiet pool was really nice as was the beach. The buffet was reliable and the a la carte book so fast we didn’t get to try any of them. We would not go here alone unfortunately.

This was our 3rd time at this resort. We were a group of 13 people, the only upsetting thing was our rooms were all over the resort because when we booked it back in May we specifically asked to have our rooms together & on the main level as we had disabled people with us. It was frustrating that groups that booked way after we did had their rooms together. We have found since Covid there are less loungers around the pool so it was almost impossible to get a lounger unless you got up at 5am. We find the staff very friendly & the resort is very clean.

The grounds are nicely kept and beach is beautiful. The food was fine. The facility is not being kept up. Lights in room broken. Patio chairs broken. Hooks missing. Sink stopper missing, closet light wouldn’t turn off. No towels. No soap, shampoo or conditioner. The bathroom by the bar has 4 sinks. All week only one worked. By the last 2 days no sinks worked. Our friend got locked in a bathroom stall. The list of defects goes on and on. Tiles broken. No toilet paper on 3 trips. The workers were nice especially Juany at customer service. This is definitely a 3 star resort. There are much nicer places to go,

What seems to have been a nice resort once upon a time seems to have fallen under hard times: grounds are still pretty. Outdoor chairs are in need of a change. Pool towels are difficult to come by. One buffet restaurant: disappointing food, minimal staff, cleanliness and sanitary measures less then desirable. 25 min waits for anything at the grilling stations ( pasta, meat, etc.). À la carte restaurant: don’t bother. Barely staffed, crappy meals. Locals are welcomed in to party on weekends and at night. They clearly get priority for any service, especially drinks. Front desk is very understaffed. Staff looking tired and not overly happy. Rooms: broken patio doors to balcony. Will not close. No safe. Bathrooms tired with hot water issues in shower and leaky toilets. We enjoyed the sun and the company we travelled with. Other than that, big waste of too much money. Sorry.

I have been to several resorts in Cuba, DR, Mexico, Barbados etc. I anticipated the food would be mediocre and the rooms out of date but I was going for the lovely beaches of Punta Cana. Unfortunately this was the biggest disappointment for us. The beach is beautiful but the WAVES were so rough it was not good at all for kids and parents. We could not be more that arms reach away from him the entire time he was in the water because of the strong waves and undertow. This beach actually scared me twice and I was so stressed when he was in the water that we barely went to the beach. The beach is why we go, not for the pool. The food wasnt great if you have kids. The pizza place was only open on weekends and if your not there when it opens your waiting in line. The buffet was ok. Always something but not much buffet options for the kids besides Fries. If you speak Spanish you are going to be okay but not speaking Spanish we were challenged. Majority of staff don't speak English, the resort seems to cater more to the locals that come for weekends - this is when things go so busy there were lines everywhere. The rooms were very outdated but that is not a problem for us. What WAS a problem was that our SAFE was broken and we spent a few hours in the room waiting to get it fixed. The AC is also barely working so it was quite warm, the fan and AC were not able to be changed to colder temps. Also our ceiling was peeling and our friends we met there had a leak in their ceiling. The pools were nice but the adult pool was the only pool that had any activities. We couldn't go to that pool because we had our son but we would have loved to participate in the activities. The kids pool area was very cute, lots of fun but it is more geared to younger kids under 6 yrs. My son is 8 and he wanted a pool that he could swim and jump and play so we used the other pool kids were allowed in but it was very quiet with nothing going on. We later found out there were some kids activities but we missed most of them. I would suggest if you go because of the price be prepared to get what you pay for. If you dont like to swim in the ocean and dont mind outdated rooms and Cuba like food options this is good for you. The grounds were beautiful and beach was super close to the hotel. If you enjoy the beach and swimming you might want to book on the side of Punta Cana more closer to the Caribbean Sea - like Barcelo etc. We also did 2 excursions that were fantastic - Monkeyland and the Caribbean Pirates at Sea. We had a great time and our 8 year old loved both. If you do go find Nelson in the dining room and Anna from the Kids club. Both were fantastic! Below I rated the BEACH/POOL low because of the beach but the pool was nice just lots of cups at the bottom of it - my son recovered most of them each morning.

We stayed at this resort a few years ago and we’re eager to return!! Well, the service has not changed and is great all around.. the food was great and there was always a variety so there is no way someone could go hungry!! The grounds are beautiful and the beach is absolutely incredible. There is always a breeze and sufficient shade if one needs it.. the only disappointment that we experienced along with other is that the rooms are in need of some upgrading.. they are old and rundown but the cleaning services help make them look welcoming!! Would not hesitate to return!! But if you are miss “fancy pants”,I wouldn’t recommend it as you would be sure to find fault in everything!! Lol.

HOTEL - Lots of rooms face the ocean due to horizontal alignment. Roomy beach front with lots of palms and chairs. Nice pools ACTIVITY - team friendly, got a kick out of wow wow wow guy Typical, darts, bingo, dance BUFFET - Tasty tender chicken and fish, decent sides and choices, skip the beef, standard grills along the side for eggs in AM and pasta and other items in PM ALACARTE -we tried 3 Japanese - good French - Mahi Mahi very good Dominican - Goat stew had great flavor we highly recommend SNACK BAR by pool varied, some days more choices, skip the hamburger PIZZA place above snack bar another I'd skip but some love it
