We went to the Riu Bambu for the beginning of May. It is a medium sized resort in good condition. There were several a-la-cartes, but we found the buffet was the better place to go. Our group of 5 was made up of older adults, 34, 19 and a 7 year old. We all found the resort to be good. Kids entertainment was okay but did not seem to be to present through the day. It probably was more of a day care. The resort had small kid water parks and a much larger one at associated to the adjacent sister resort. There was also an "off resort" disco which was quite amazing. No charge to go and well guarded / supervised. It had a could of shallow pools, they did the bubble party thing with modern largely international dance music. Definitely drew the younger people from other resorts around the area. It was free to attend and drinks apparently were also free to Bambu clients. The ocean and beach were awesome. Shade areas available, largely tall palm trees that set a great ambience. The 3 pools were good. One was adult only with the swim up bar. Music could become overwhelming and loud there. Some showers for rinsing around the pools did not work. Food was okay, drinks were the typical syrups and lower end resort alcohol. Staff service we felt was pretty good with most the resort people we dealt with.

Hello ? It was my second time at Riu Bambu, amazing resort, very clean, the food was fresh and great variety to choose from. Shows for kids and adults every night, lots of fun. Everyone is very friendly and helpful....going back again ?✈️

Let me start by saying i've been to this hotel several time. This trip however was possibly the worst. The rooms are old, the fridge was leaking. Ants are everywhere in the rooms. I had to change two days in. Less ants however still the same. I cannot even describe how horrible the food was. All the meat and sea food products were all over cooked. Basically, it was the same food being served over and over and over again, for the full seven days that I was there. On the upside, the team working at the hotel were fantastic. The level of service received by the service staff at the front desk and also in the dining room was beyond reproach. They were the only bright side of my trip.

Although picturesque setting there were so many issues!! no working room phones in any of our rooms (there were 14 of us) so when things went wrong you had to walk to front desk from very far away fan not working tv always fuzzy and not working at least half the time safe not working - and it took the front desk 4 hours to address it - leaving us unable to attend a group dinner (as our stuff we needed was locked in the safe) toilet broke they did not stock our room and when we went to ask at the front desk they advised it was done every 2nd day and it was too late now (it was 3:00 pm) it was not restocked for 4 days the food was not what I expected/ poor variety and always COLD I have travelled extensively in DR and this was not at all my previous experience The beach was disgusting with an unpleasant odor - it was not cleaned during our whole week many / many feet of seaweed

Our family had 4 rooms, every one had various problems in rooms, no rooms had a working phone ,only answer was out of service, room overhead fans did not work or had to be repaired, in room fridges were not stocked daily had to get water at desk, our grandson had to get his room key replaced 4 times. Also he was sleeping and awoke to a large cockroach on his bed and saw another large one in hallway we have images to verify, and front desk did not address any of our concerns in a timely fashion. He almost missed dinner on our last night waiting for someone to open a locked safe it was only handled when our daughter made a noisy scene at the desk. The ocean beach was smelly and covered with washed up seaweed as we walked the beach other resorts had the seaweed removed. Bottom line is the the pool and grounds were well kept but rooms need a major update and we would never return to this one any time soon.

Riu Bambu was a wonderful resort. The staff, the variety of food, and the entertainment was top notch. I would definitely return. The grounds are very well kept. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Grounds were fine, roaches were in our room 2 nights out of our stay, service at the bar was amazing the first 2 days after that we pretty much had to beg for service an mind you, we were tipping at the bars and chatting up the bartenders best we could in spanish. Food was not good. On the third day our party of 13 people were all stuck on the toilet which was scary because we were afraid to eat the rest of the trip or just didnt have an appetite. Some of us took taxis off the resort to get kfc because the food was that bad. One of our group had jewelry stolen from the room and had to dedicate 3 days to get resolved and the hotel gave a hard time before agreeing to accompany the guest to the police station to make a report. The beach is public and almost every day we were accosted by locals trying to sell us drugs!?? I think the best parts of this vacation was the off resort excursions we did. Doom buggys and a party boat. First and last time for us in punta cana. Probably one of the worst vacations to date.

This resort is old. Couldn’t charge our phones unless the lights were on. Food was ok. The Sunwing rep was horrible. The shows were sometimes in appropriate for a younger crowd. Not enough loungers for people by the pools. And not enough pools.

Worst resort I’ve been to! Food was terrible, artificial and processed. Omelet and scrambled eggs made with the artificial container eggs. Got food poisoning the first night off the bruschetta. Spoke to another couple and same happened to them off the same food. Resort not kept clean. Found female staff hiding in the washrooms, on their phones. Not a 5 star resort, 3 1/2 at best. Pool floors were always dirty, no one walking around to pick up cups or clean up. The only good thing was the rooms were cleaned properly. However such a big resort, they put the families in the far back about 15 min walk from the main area and the beach. Beware of this resort. Will not be visiting Riu ever again.

Beach is unbelievable, best I've ever seen. Otherwise the hotel is definitely not 5 stars. 4 at most. A La Carte is not really worth the time, at all. Pretty much the same food all around except for the steakhouse. Rooms are ran down. We had a big party of 20 people across 5 rooms. All rooms were ran down. With that being said, they were NOT a disaster. Acceptable by our standards. Service was statsifactory with us, all issuess adressed in a tmely manner.

Had a good time at this resort Had a nice room very clean great shower always hot water my maid was lovely I was in building 09212 The grounds were very nice The Buffet was good Good selections of foods and breads and fruits like the Mexican E LACARTE THE BEST steak house was always hard to get into you no longer book for dinners anymore you have to line up first come first bases I GUESS it works better then they will not have NO SHOWS all the staff was very friendly At breakfast are waiters were AMAZING JESUS. JUAN PABLO made the table very nice everyday with paper flowers got me Tea every morning with a glass of orange juice and a big hug I thank them for making our vacation very memorable Also they gave us great service for dinner when we ate at Buffet The beach speaks for its self was very little seaweed the ocean was warm We had 2 weeks of perfect weather 29 most of the days The RIU PARTIES ARE WILD go to at least one great experience!!!! WE Hung out at the pool bar pool adults only Johnny the bar tender there was GREAT gave us great service ALL IN ALL GOOD VACATION thanks RIU

We vacationed from Jan17- 31 at the Riu Bambo We were in Building 0912 Nice room clean great maid always fresh towels lots of toilet paper could have used an extra blanket though The grounds are lovely well kept The breakfast crew were Fantastuc Jesus and the 3 others when I came into dining room He would get my Tea& Juice for me very Thankful to have friendly service made our holiday was glad to see them again for dinner at buffet We tried all the el cartes Liked the Mexican the best Hung out at pool bar Johnny bar tender was friendly very efficient enjoyed bingo at 5 everyday Also the Riu parties Enjoyed the Michael Jackson show Enjoyed the sportsbar and the staff there All & All great vacation Thank You to everyone

Could use pool renos broken tiles in the pools someone could cut their feet and ruin there vacations.staff was very good and friendly tour operators were informative. Place was clean restaurants were always full.Riu party was amazing.

Our 6th time in Dominican Republic, and probably the worst resort we've been to. Lots of things not working, in rooms, showers by the pool and the beach, coffee machines and nobody bothers to fix anything. The swim up bar and pool bar disgusting, dirt and mold everywhere. Food variety it's the worst for the money you pay to stay at this resort. We've been to lower star resorts with much better variety, especially fruits.

the hotel was really good, food was good, pools, beach. Everything about it was lovely and likeable glad i booked to stay here. Would definitely recommend to friends and family looking to go to a resort in punta cana, Any of the riu resorts never disappoint!!

The good stuff: the beach is absolutely beautiful. We travelled in June and there was no sea weed at all. It was so much nicer than Bavaro beach. The staff are super friendly and fun. The food was actually pretty decent for Dominican from my experience at a few resorts. Breakfast was awesome, lots of selection and the fruit was amazing. We really liked Kulinarium for dinner but the other ala carte restaurants were meh. Beds were comfortable and the room was fairly clean. Housekeeping made up our rooms every day which was nice. This resort is great for friends and a younger crowd. There was always music and dancing. It has a party vibe. I would not recommend the resort for families. The not so good stuff: the pools were really dirty and need more regular cleaning. The buildings are a little run down and in need of reburbishment. I would stay again with friends but not bring my family. There is no water park or splash pads for kids on the resort. You have to walk about 10 minutes to the water park which is fine but there is no bar or food once you are there. The booze is bottom shelf. Overall, the vibe was super fun and we had a great time. I would probably stay again for the price but hoping to try the palace next time.

Resort was just ok. Old and needs work. The service, drinks and food were not the greatest. Beach was beautiful. Rooms were old and damp. Live entertainment was great, good party resort and you get what you pay for.

We had gorgeous weather the fist 2 days. The beach had very little seaweed. Day 3 we had a day of rain so we went for a drive to BelleMare Mall. It wasn't a mall but rather a gift shop. Things were lovely but highly overpriced. We went to the BlueMaa on day 4. Much better stores. For the remainder we went to most Riu parties. Great entertainment every evenings. The beach had lots of seaweed and so we preferred the pool for the duration of our stay. Luis at the Laplaza bar as well as Sandi, Paulin , Nelson and Jhonny were always ready to mix you the drink of choice. Wendy was our housekeeper. She is a lovely soul and always had a smile. We loved our stay and can't wait for next year!

Rooms are spacious and kept clean. Food is good but most of the dishes very salty. Resort and pools are nice and maintained well. Bars were excellent. Some of the night entertainment was good.Meat dishes were tough and hard to eat. It would be good if the food could cut down the salt especially for people with health problems .

Just returned from the trip to Riu Bambu, Punta Cana. Overall it was very nice trip. Room was clean and staff lovely. Both Sunwing agents Jonathan and Raysa were very helpful and professional. Thanks to them, trip that started with some challenges turned in to relaxing vacation.

You could go here young, old, or inbetween. We stayed as a 25~ year old couple and had a blast at the Riu parties as we love to party. you can also stay on site and relax, they also have lots of activities. pool, beach, food, staff were all great. Do not expect 5 star room quality service, and you will have an amazing time.

Don't try and pet the black and white cat. It will bite you but we had an amazing time there! It is a big resort and we were surprised by that but the food is excellent for the Dominican! I would not recommend if you have walking issues because there is a lot of walking.

Great staff providing service in room cleaning, beach towel, animation: morning program including stretching, zumba, dance classes, restaurants. Food was in good in quantity not so much in quality and presentation. Entertainment shows had great dancers. The sound and stage background was mediocre.

If you’re not into parties stay away. App helps a lot, as you can order things you might need This resort also has lots of kids. Checkin in ok, rooms ok, usual Dominican open bathrooms, with water closet. TVs not working to good at first. Air cold or off, same with fan … both noisy as with drunk people returning from disco at early hours, Pool areas are not the cleanest, stained chairs, and stained beach towels… no cleaning going on that we could see other than the pool guys throwing pails of water from pool onto deck tiles. Pool Bathrooms are cleaned only 1 a day, late afternoon atrocious! The bars are great, and the bartenders will make you happy! No need for reservations other than the steakhouse which we did not partake in.. Also way too many smokers! Show as where as usual in resorts 1 week was enough

Fast, friendly and efficient check in service. Very impressed with cleanliness of hotel. Very easy to get oriented on the property. I enjoyed the fact that everything is within a short walking distance. We enjoyed buffet every day, the variety and quality is at its finest. When red and black caviar is served you know that the Riu is going all out. Plenty of seats, tables and staff to look after your every need. The Bavaro beach is one of the best in the area. Only suggestion I have for the hotel is that since we arrived at 10:30 pm with a family of 7 after travelling all day is that they provide a small snack section with fruits and such. The sports bar sandwiches are not enough. As well as bell boy service to take luggage to rooms. It’s a little difficult to get your bearings at 10:30 at night .

Bad service, rooms smelling from the shower drain, everything old in the room. People bothering you all day at the beach selling drugs. The staff not friendly. No water to buy anywhere and no bottled water in bars or lobby. They put people with kids in strollers on higher floors with no elevators and ask for 80 dollar a day bribe to change to first floor. Most people in group got some sort of stomach problems…

Clean rooms and facilities, food was not bad, show and entertainment and enough things to do. Place is big and connect to two other hotels that you get access too. Lots of tourist from all over to mingle with and lots of quite places if that's your choice.

Clean and well maintained. Pretty grounds with lots of palm trees and wide white sand beaches. A good variety of sun and shaded areas. Lots of lounge chairs for everyone. We loved the quieter pool by the beach surrounded with palm trees😍 We had an amazing room with sofa and chair and balcony that faced the ocean and pool surrounded by beautiful palms. Loved it. Great variety of food choices that were tasty. Never hit the other restaurants because enjoyed the main one so much. We enjoyed sitting out in open part the most. William was amazing server and treated us like family. Enjoyed the live entertainment in the beach bar after dinner. Ideal family vacation👍🏻

My husband and I visited the riu bambu Nov 14th to 21st 2019. This is a very lovely hotel rooms were great beach was superb! We have been to the riu hotels many times in the past and always found them to be good resorts. If I had anything negative to say about the resort the only thing would be that the beds were like sleeping on a slab of wood. Very hard!

alot of small shops in the resort, riu bambu is connected to all riu hotels so you can walk around and see the different shows. there are pool parties in the resort that run during the day and night. food was really good also and service was great

The grounds were very well maintained. The food was amazing. The staff was very good. I would recommend this to anyone. We did two excursions on the property and they were so much fun. We did parasailing and catamaran. The room were a good size.

I was so excited by going by pictures of this beautiful staircase that i was told was there. To find out the place has been totally remolded days looking for this staircase and no longer there. And even the people working there said they dont like the new model. The food was same everyday and brought out for days old and not fresh. The intertainment was horrible. And some staff were getting people to sign and lie on a petiton saykng there pink party and white party they had was good. But no one went and as we were sigiing this sheets the guy drank all our drinks. And we had to wait long time for them the first time. The plane going there should not even be in use. The seats were all broken and fall to the side. Window edge coverings where cracking. We got no complementy champaigne and we paid 100 for these seats. It was disgusting dirty. The swim up pool was to be adults only out of 5 pools and kids were destroying our drinks repeadily. Tooms were teo beds put together so we slept apart or fall between cracks. I would rate this 2+. I was not happy for 3000. Spent. And on he way hime flight again no specualty at all.

The resort is laid out well and has lots of eating areas. Only thing that was bad was swim up bar close to the front. There is not supposed to be children in swim up bar area. Place was packed and kids splashing water in your drink. No signs up to tell no kids either. An announcement was made but no one listened. The entertainment at night was non existent and terrible lol. They had the entertainers going around getting people to sign petition saying it was good. Then they would take your drink and go to next table. Also when I went at the end of May is pretty much full of locals on vacation.

The Riu Bambu was very nice , it was a mix of younger , older people which made it a great mix , and had something for everybody . It was very lively, a lot of entertainment , pool party’s and the staff were very friendly and approachable .

Ok I'm Going to make this short and sweet...We loved this resort! Everything about it was Fantastic except for one thing which I will get to in a second. The room was Very nice very clean. The people were very warm, from the cleaning staff to the folks at the front desk.The grounds themselves were super clean and VERY well kept. The food was good...It was not out of this world good but it was very good. the food staff were excellent! In the week we stayed there we didn't even come across a spider I'm not kidding...there were no "bugs"to speak of. Now for the bad part...The only thing that this resort was lacking was the proper production (lighting) for their nightly entertainment. The shows were good but when you are putting on a semi big show you need the proper lighting to go with the production. If you do not have this it just looks like a rehearsal.The stage was big and the seating was very accommodating. Just fell short. Apart from that...We loved the Bambu and would definitely recommend this place to our friends

I've been to Punta Cana many times and this resort would be on the top of my list. Beautifully maintained and well managed in every aspect. I was overall impressed with the way this resort conducts business.

I would give this resort a 5 star food was great we gain 5 pounds, ground well kept lot's of place to sit in the sun or shade to have a drink and our room very clean staff amazing if we needed anything there was no problem for them to accommodate. We travel alot and this resort was great 2 thumbs up

The rooms were fine as I upgraded to deluxe. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. only difference is that the sewers make some areas smell awful. the house keepers were very noisy. the food was horrible at times. the sports bar was a joke. No food is available after 10pm. The disco you have to pay for drinks and food,which is ridiculous. The employees needs to learn English.

All the rooms, lobby, buffet restaurant, a la carte restaurants and bars have been refurbished. The bar pool has been fitted with in water tables and seats as well as in water beds. There are two large new pools with in water beds and wheel chair access and the seating around the pools has been increased dramatically. The beach is excellent.

This was not a 5 star resort. The rooms were very dirty and old and not what the pictures suggested. The food in the bar (after 9:30pm) was inedible and most likely not safe for consumption. There was not one fresh grill where you could have fresh food except the steak house which required a 2 hour wait to get into. The pools were not well cleaned, and the drinks were bar rail and not brand name which I would expect at a 5 star. The restaurants were misleading and the map and names were not even accurate. Public washrooms were always filled with puke and diarrhea. This was a 3 star at best. Beach was beautiful and well kept.

Good resort, nice gardens, great entertainment team, good service. Good food and nice restaurants. Resort on a larger scale, lots of people. Cheaper alcohol. Beds a bit hard. Rooms have a bit of musty smell, but ok when air out by opening the balcony door.

This was our first time in Punta Cana and the Riu Bambu was a great hotel to start our PC adventure. The rooms were clean, the food was plentiful and delish, the staff and service were great and the beach and pools were great. Awesome and hard-working entertainment staff too. All in all we would return to this resort.

Writer was part of 3 generation multi-ethnic family vacation. This resort was perfect for us. Riu Bambu is one of 5 Riu hotels in the complex. Facilities plentiful, clean and well maintained. Beautiful ocean front with white sand beach and plentiful recliners. ( we did have a lot of seaweed due to winds/weather but staff worked tirelessly cleaning it up) 4+ pools which each provide varied depth and activities to meet most families' needs. Plentiful loungers at all pools eliminating need to reserve chairs. We tried 5 restaurants that provided incredible selection of very tasty food. Bars where plentiful and service was quick and efficient. Standard room was clean comfortable and functional, Had some challenges with sliding door to bathroom coming off tracks and plumbing Otherwise great. Manager Ariel was very effective and kind at addressing issues/concerns especially in relocating rooms as writer had difficult with stairs to access initial assigned room. Waitstaff, though very plentiful, kind and efficient, seemed to be moved around reducing that personal connection. Activities staff were very energetic and interactive throughout the day. So many activities that you can participate in if you chose. The staff of the kids club are lovely, loving and patient. Night time entertainment was good with great dancing by the staff and some riveting shows like the magic and acrobatic shows. Plentiful of adjacent shops to buy jewelry and souvenirs without the hard sell for those who like retail therapy. In summary, Riu Bambu great hotel with fantastic setup, beautiful beach, plentiful pools, loungers, restaurants and staff to cater to your needs leading to great vacation for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

This hotel was absolutely stunning! The rooms were spacious and clean. We were in villa 20 which was close to everything. The pools were clean and well maintained, we never had to fight for a lounger. The restaurants were all wonderful and the food was delicious. The nightly entertainment was great. My kids really enjoyed Riuland and the nightly entertainment for the kids was wonderful.

Our family had a great week at this resort. Fun for all. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful when needed. A great variety of food in the buffet. Nice to have little shops on site to visit. Beautiful beach area. Would go back again.

I went with my 10 year old daughter, the resort entrance is very nice and welcoming and the front line staff are very helpful. The rooms are amazing, clean and spacious. This is a nice place to go for a family vacation or with a group, whatever your preferences are, there is lots to do everyday, the food was okay, they have several options.

We have been to Riu Bambu Punta Cana from Dec. 21st to Dec 28th, 2017. Overall, the hotel was good: the room was very comfortable, quiet and very clean. The service at the restaurant was very good. Food quality and diversity at the buffet was good. The only critic I would have is regarding the food at the “A la carte” restaurants: it was a bit disappointing. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

The hotel renovations were nice. They did not nor were they willing to accomodate our request for our 3 reservations to be in the same building even though it was requested in our reservation months prior. The hotel staff were decent for the most part. We tipped so that always helps. Unfortunately, the three of us ended up with food poisoning so it's now difficult to be objective or give a raving review.

This was my first trip to DR. The people were great. The property was very well kept and well lit. I felt completely safe. The food was too good. I gained weight. There were so many bars to choose from and the entertainment was excellent.

This was my second visit to Riu Bambu and I have to say that I enjoyed all the upgrades that the resort had to offer. The rooms are better, service is better and the entertainment staff are more fun! We stayed busy with the daily activities like beach games, pool games, volleyball, dancing etc. The food was alright but I was not expecting much. We had a lot of choices of restaurants, however, I only went to two of them. I preferred the buffet to restaurants because we weren't forced to eat something we may not have liked. The nightly entertainment was a 6/10, but there were four nights of dancing (same performers, different costumes). I think they can use more variety - something different every day would be nice! I would rate the hotel 8 out of 10. I enjoyed my time but they can work on a bit more for a 5 star! My mother and I stayed at Riu, August 29 to September 5.

Hotel was very clean and the employees are amazing. Food was good. Pool beach amazing. Water park fantastic. We had a wonderful time. Wish we could go back soon. Night life was great. So much to do with the family.

Very nice resort. The staff was very friendly and entertaining. Just 2 issues. Only 2 sheets on the bed. Talking to other guests there is an extra blanket in the closet. We had no extra blanket. Asked housekeeping staff for a blanket. No luck. Asked the front desk twice. Again no luck with the promise of "yes seniorita right away", NOPE!! So we froze all week. If we turned air off then the room was too hot, so we chose to freeze. Secondly I left a pair of earrings behind in a drawer. I emailed them upon my return home. They got back to me 2 days later and said they asked housekeeping staff and said they were not found. I don't believe the housekeeping staff took them. I just think they didn't check the drawer in the room. Sound advice, leave your jewellery at home. The earrings are still there I'm sure. Now the resort is closed for 3 months. Oh well, live and learn. Had a wonderful vacation anyway.

My family and I visited Riu Bambu twice, in 2007 and 2017. The hotel grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. The beach is stunning, with lots of mature palm trees that provide plenty of shade. Beach loungers are abundant. The food was excellent, with lots of variety available. However the drinks on offer were not that great. There is no real orange juice, the alcoholic beverages were too sweet and syrupy. For us the best choice were red wine and beer. White and rose wines were too sweet. Coffee served for breakfast was good, together with specialty coffees available from the machine. The room we stayed in was closer to the beach and the main buildings. The resort has a mix of renovated and non-renovated rooms available. Renovated rooms are mostly at the back of the resort away from the beach. Our room was a non-renovated one. The room itself was good, but the beds were extremely uncomfortable. We asked reception staff for help in that mater but unfortunately they didn't accomplish much. At first they tried to remedy the situation by putting several blankets on top, under the sheets. That didn't help much, so after our third request they changed the mattress but to no avail since the new mattress was the same as the old one. We gave up after that. The staff in general is OK, but may seem grumpy at times. On the side note, the tennis courts were in a really bad shape, full of debris. The surface was gravel. We chose to go for one excursion to Saona island. It included a semi-submarine visit, snorkelling around it, speed boat ride to the island, lunch and catamaran ride back. We found it too expensive for what we got. The guide was very good, but we felt everywhere we went was way overcrowded. We couldn't see much from the submarine but our kids enjoyed snorkelling a lot. The island itself was very crowded as other tours come there too. The lunch provided was very good. The catamaran ride was the biggest disappointment, as it was really overcrowded, with barely any space to move.

The hotel was clean and the staff were very nice and hard-working . Beach was absolutely beautiful. Lots of chairs and choice for pools as well. Some features that made it just ok for me were that for a family of 4 I found room to be pretty tight, beds were twins. Also our room was a long walk from pools and restaurants. My husband and I did get sick and think it was something we ate. Food was plentiful but I am picky ..and I did not like too many things. Got tired of buffet and seeing same things all day. Italian and steak house were good.first time in Dominican but have been to Mexico several times and Bahamas. Have stayed at 5stars in Mexico so this didn't compare to that for hotel but beach was way nicer and weather was hot hot!

The Riu Bambu was a very well kept resort. The beach was beartiful and our room was clean so no complaints there. Wifi was hard to access in the lobby. The bartenders could have been a little happier/friendlier. They weren't rude, they just were not happy. The 4 a la cart restaurants were not by reservation and they only had 2 open each night. Even though we didn't have any kids with us we took advantage of the new water park which was free for anyone staying at this resort. Leave your jewellery in your room because they won't let you go down the slides with it on. Safer in your room. Again, nice and clean.

Rooms: We chose the standard room as they are close to the lobby. Upon arrival (March 2/17) we were told that the room had been upgraded to deluxe room only to find out that the room was the last building at the back of the resort. The patio backed onto a construction site for the RIU next door. We had a black construction screened fence about 3 feet from the patio with a muddy clay against it to keep it standing. We insisted on having the room we paid for and were placed in 2306 right beside the lobby by 2:00 the next day. What can go wrong right? This room had no hot water which took three days to fix, a toilet that barely flushed and we did not get bottled water until the next evening. We resorted to taking cold showers, using the public washrooms for shaving and toilets and getting glasses of drinking water from the bar until we had some. We were also told that the sports bar (no coffee or ice buckets in rooms) would provide ice and coffee for the room if needed and when we asked for ice, they tied off a green garbage bag, filled it half way, tied it off again and sent us on our way. The one time we asked for coffee, we were told the machine was broken. We arrived Thursday evening and were finally settled into our room with everything working by Monday evening. We had a wonderful maid and she made sure we had everything we needed from Monday onward. Our room was spotless everyday. Her service level was impeccable and we looked forward to coming back to our room every day. Grounds: The grounds were well-maintained and there was a boardwalk on the beach that connected you to all of the surrounding RIUs. Great place for walking and running as the breeze from the ocean kept you cool. Pools: Pools were adequate UNTIL...the springbreakers arrival on Sunday (two bus loads) and trust me they were rested. We realized by supper that evening that our little heaven would never be the same until our departure March 16/17. BTW RIU policy website states that they do not accept SPRINGBREAKERS. Here are what all of us endured: 1. lineups in the washrooms due to toilets no longer flushing or girls locked in the stall because they were sick. 2. inaccessible poolbar from 10:00 to closing everyday. The springbreakers used this area as their public washroom and spent the day drinking shots, spilling drinks in the pool and vomiting poolside. 3. we witnessed five of them go out in wheelchairs the first day. They would come out of the pool and just fall over into their lounger and vomiting off to the side of their chair. Not once did we see any staff come and clean up afterwards. We actually watched some of them walking into it and they jumping back into the pool. 4. our nights were filled with screaming, slamming doors, stumbling people on the walkways, parties in the rooms and balconies and staff talking loudly to try and settle them down for the other guest. We slept with two hour intervals at best. 5. the final straw for us (our last full day) was the poolside fight. We watched two young men arguing in and out of the pool with girls and guys trying to keep them apart. The foul language back and forth was not acceptable. I went to the poolside entertainment staff and asked if security was called and they told me "it is not our problem". I then went to the front desk and told them security was needed poolside and again nothing. Finally the springbreakers managed to get the fight under control and diffuse the situation and things returned to normal chaos. All this to say, this is a family resort and there were plenty of children witnessing the events. I also felt terrible for those families as I heard them pleading with the spring breakers that they had children trying to sleep in the adjacent rooms.

This is the 3rd RIU have been to and we were a little disappointed. Food and drinks were great, however the accommodations were not so much. We were in a building that faced the driveway between this resort and another - lots of traffic at night and early morning. There were wheel barrels outside our patio area for the entire stay. Also, the grounds leading back to our room were never kept up. There was garbage and actual dinner plates in one of the garbage cans for the entire stay. I can't say I think about the entire resort - it appeared neat and tidy. We just found it strange that the garbage cans outside of the units were not cleaned out daily. Did this effect our trip - no, however it did not leave a good impression. We did require medical attention of which was excellent and appreciated. We had to take a taxi to the hospital and this was handled wonderfully.

Hotel staff were amazing. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Drinks were OK, nothing special and mostly domestic brands Rooms were updated and clean. Hot water always. Mini fridge wes restocked every other day and towels were replaced daily. Incredible beach. Clean groun.

Staff was great...food was normal for an all inclusive.pool and entertainment were a lot of fun...place needs an upgrade but overall rooms were ok...we were told they are renovating this summer... Great beach area

The resort was a little "tired" looking. I was surprised to find that we had an actual "key" with our room number on it and a large fob to carry it with. Not very secure if you had lost it! The beach there is one of the best that I have seen. Sand was beautiful and you could walk for miles. The rest of the resort was just okay. They had a lot of activities but I just found that the staff were not very friendly and if you wanted to have alcohol in your drinks you mostly had to ask for it. Sometimes they would put it in, sometimes not. Rooms were a little weird in that the toilet was separate but the sinks and shower were part of the room. If you go make sure whoever you are with you are not shy about undressing in front of them. Beds were okay although my daughter had to sleep on a pull out couch (there was three of us in the room). She said it was not very comfortable. Overall it was not terrible, just for an extra couple of hundred we could have stayed at the Riu down the road which looked from what we saw much nicer. Food was typical all inclusive fare.

The beach was large beautiful and clean. The grounds were clean and very well manicured with nice hedges and hundreds of healthy Palm trees. The pool area was very nice and also well maintained. The people who worked there were lovely and worked extremely hard. The entertainment staff were great and also worked long hours. The food was terrible cold and everything cooked in oil the drinks were average with no premium liquor. We were in a deluxe room which was far from deluxe the furniture was falling apart . The white laminated furniture was peeling apart. The mattress hard as a rock and terrible lumpy pillows. The AC you could not adjust and the room was damp and I was sick with a cold by day 3. Was unable to open patio door as we backed on to dirty construction site where they were building a pool. Also there were many cats roaming everywhere on the resort which were literally starving to death which was very upsetting.

Stayed at the RIU Bambu February 2nd - 9th. Weather was perfect. Beach beautiful as always. Great for swimming, walking or just people watching. Stayed in a renovated room. Small but all we needed as we dont go south to sit in our room. Ate at the four Ala Cartes. Steak house was the best. Steak, Salmon and Ribs were all very good. Asian restaurant was buffet style and the food was good. Service a little slow. Italian restaurant was good except the Chicken. It needed some sauce or something as it was very dry. Mexican was also buffet style and very good. Nice they now have three pools with one party one and two quieter ones. Lots of kids though. Entertainment during the day was fun. Night shows were also ok. Nice to sit outside and enjoy a drink or two after dinner with some music going on. All in all a fun week. Reno's coming May 1st will only serve to improve this section of the resort.

The resort was large, as there were several buildings, with 2 levels. I stayed in 714, which was great. It was more in the middle i would say. I didn't mind the walking though, which is expected at this resort. Very clean. Beautiful modern rooms. I wish the pool was bigger, and would have been nice if there were more shallower areas. The swim up bar area was rather small unfortunately and always packed. It was nice to be able to have to option to go to the different resorts also. However, it was so big, I didn't have enough time to even see the other resorts. The food was amazing, the buffets had so much to offer, and I only went to the italian and mexican a la cartes (which was buffet style also which I like).

Small charming resort. Easy to get around, beautiful beach with access to other RIU properties. Felt safe, friendly staff, and a variety of food to choose from. Pool activities and nightly. Entertainment. A very enjoyable week.

While the grounds are clean and the rooms are kept clean, the pools, hallways, lobby and entertainment areas are flooded with smoke - too many people smoke around the pools, the lobby, the hallways and the entertainment center. Wherever we walked, we can smell and inhale 2nd-hand smoke. My kids are in their tweens - they didn't like the kids pool because it's very kiddy, they want to be in a big pool. But the big pools specially the main pool with the swim-up bar is so crowded and flooded with smokers. There are cigarette butts around the pools, on the tables etc.- not a good sight and experience for my tweens. We ended up going a couple of times to Riu Naiboa where the pool is free from rowdy crowd and free from smoke - Riu Naiboa turned out to be a healthier and more appropriate resort for us. There are 4 fine ding restaurants but all non air-conditioned. This is definitely not a 5-star resort. Overall, I was dissatisfied with our stay at Riu Bambu. I wish the Tripcentral representative, described us the resort in detail - the atmosphere, the ambiance, what's going on in the resort, we would have changed to Riu Naiboa or other resorts.

We were so disappointed with this resort. Our room had a number of issues, the service was non existent, the grounds were dirty and unkept and the food was inedible. Three of the eight people we went with were ill for most of the vacation.

We went to this resort with 3 other couples and 3 people from our group got very bad food poisoning. The food was terrible and we found the resort to be a bit on the dirty side. We would never recommend this resort to any of our friends or family. Non of the staff knew English which made it very difficult to communicate and if you called down to the front desk for something they would just hang up on you because they didn't know the language.

Cannot believe the 7-day long vacation at Riu Bambu is over. It is so beautiful that coming home makes me feel even a bit sad. The crystal blue sky, white sand beach, ocean in various blue, and the passionate music and dancing, plus of course all kinds of cocktails, wine and beer... I went there with my son and another family, the kids absolutely love it. My tips: the Pirates tour is very impressive, you must not miss this excursion! I forgot to take rubber band for my hair, while I struggled what to do with my hair, "Captain Jack" reached into his pocket and got me a rubber band - is he making miracle? I took the rubber band as a souvenir. Whenever I look at the the rubber band, I will think of Captain Jack. The yoga coach is amazing too. I cannot describe how much better I felt when I followed him to do a good stretch on the platform right facing the ocean! The yoga music was so soothing that I absolutely tasted the happiness deep in my heart! The food were fabulous. I would strongly recommend Steak House and Italian Restaurant for the fine dinning in the night. But please make sure you wear stylish dress or pants instead of shorts... Checking in upon arrival was not the best experience since we had to wait till almost 3:00pm whilst we arrived hotel around noon. Hope the hotel can do sth about it. Entertainment is another area which I would wish to have improvement. A magic show for example would cheer everyone, adults or kids, unfortunately we didn't have it. Hotel room is fine, but cannot understand why there is no free WiFi in the room which made us have to run to the lobby in order to use the WiFi. I would appreciate it much more if SunWing representative can send a reminding notice to each traveler regarding check out time and shuttle bus pickup time one day before the return flight... All in all, an impressive vacation that I would definitely repeat!

Very clean resort, and great service. Everything you want for a relaxing vacation! Would recommend this resort to all ages, and families. If you like to be close to eveyrthing would recommend this be requested upon booking, as some of the rooms are a 7 minute walk to beach and restaurants.

We stayed at the Riu Bambu March 21 to the 28. The resort was ok. Staff were somewhat friendly. I'm not sure if something was going around the resort but most everyone in our group got sick at some point throughout the week. My daughter was vomiting for 2 days. My husband had diarrhea the entire time. And my self and my oldest daughter have had diarrhea for the last couple of days of the trip and still back in Canada. I will never go back to this resort again. They need to do some upgrades at this location. It seemed the other Riu hotels were nicer.

The resort itself is very nice with great grounds and well maintained spaces. The beach is great; lots of white sand and kilometres to walk and walk. The amenities are descent and the entertainment was very "entertaining". The food was very, very disappointing. I have had much better food in Cuba....and you know that is saying something. There was repetition of food items, the food was overcooked, had no spices. The wine is the absolute worst I have ever tasted. Years in the past we stayed at Riu Bachatta and after that Riu Negril and both those were excellent experiences. Not sure what is happening now with the Rius. Never going back. to a Riu.

This was a good value resort for what we paid. Resort was clean. We had a newly renovated deluxe king room that was beautiful. Our room was stocked with 3litre bottles of water, beer, and pop that was refilled every 2 days. In room liquor dispenser as well. The beach was nice and seating at the pool and beach was plentiful, which is the first tIme I have seen that at an all inclusive. No need to reserve seats at the crack of dawn because there were always lots available. The only thing I didn't love about the resort was the food and is why I wouldn't give it a 5 star. I would guess most of the food was cooked from frozen, which is fine, it's just not amazing food like at other resorts we've been to. The Omelette bar, fresh fruit smoothies made daily at the buffet, homemade pizza, fresh fruit and veggies were delicious. Nothing made us sick though so no complaints there. The resort is not too big so you don't have to walk too far from the rooms to get to restaurants, beach, pool, etc.

This resort is beautiful, in the process of completing full renovations to all units. The grounds are immaculate, the pools are very nice, and the food was superb. The beaches of course are second to none, perfect for long walks!

Very comfortable, clean, enjoyable time. Beach excellent. Stayed in deluxe room which is close to road, a little noisy. Staff were great. Tennis courts for the Riu chain are very poor. Overall a great week. We did do some excursions which were also amazing.

The hotel was a bit smaller than expected and a little more underwhelming than it was made out to be. If you are looking for a young adult type crowd to party with, this is the resort for you. The pool had great games catered to young adults (beer drinking competition, pillow fighting in the pool, etc), so it was a lot of fun in that sense as it catered to my age group. The only thing we found disappointing was how we had pay for drinks at the disco, and our rooms air conditioning was faulty. It was nice to experience once but I probably wouldn't go back, but pay a little more to stay at the Palace.

Friendly staff, amazing food, and clean facilities. My only complain was the rooms were dated and definitely required some upkeep. Beach was beautiful and absolutely recommend the massages at their spa.

This hotel is OK. Some things are very nice and some things are lacking. The beach is gorgeous, pools nice, staff excellent. Rooms are OK. No coffee maker, no room service, no concierge. The gym had little to no equipment and was difficult to get a decent workout. Drinks are average, wine is awful and food is OK at best5. The buffet was better than the a la carte restaurants. I have stayed in the Bavaro area on many occasions and know that for a bit more money the hotels up the beach are top notch with full service. Was a fun vacation but would not go back to this resort.

It was not a 4-5 star as they claim to be. The resort was dirty, it smelled like sewage , sanitation and we could smell fecies from the septic tanks. Our room was not cleaned for days meaning we had no new towels room was filled with sand n sheets really needed to change. I had to call and request someone to clean our room! Now the most disturbing part is the male staff! I felt very uncomfortable on my vacation which is unfortunate because I should be able to enjoy what I paid for! They were making cat calls and sexual comments trying to touch me and my friends at every chance they got inappropriately! Staring at us very sexually n making us feel extremely uncomfortable. It wasn't just one specific area it was all the males at the resort! As staff they should learn to respect the people who come to visit! I feel like it made my trip even worst! I was utterly disgusted by their behaviour towards me and my friend highly inappropriate! And the flights going and coming back were both delayed by 6 hrs which is ridiculous!

resort was very clean, however the language barrier was difficult, catered alot in spanish, the shows were to late,easy access to the beach,the food was so so.Would I return no, very difficult to check in to a room upon arrival 2 hour wait at resort

This hotel had great al la cartes. The grounds were well kept. Rooms were great. Lots of activities through the day to keep you entertained and at night. Staff were friendly. Didn't have to wait much in lines for the buffets. Beach was nice.

beautiful beach with lots of palms trees ,the food was great snack bar ,buffet & a la carte restaurant "Japanese" & "Italian" ,very clean resort would not hesitate to go back me & my husband loved our vacation .

We arrived on March 20th, and found the resort packed and the service not even close to anything rated a 4 or greater. It could have been the week we chose, as it was packed with spring break students. Not much room to maneuver around pool area. The beach has a lot of chairs but again, a far distance to get a drink. Rooms were mediocre and the food selection was lacking. No champagne!!! Not pleased. After making a complaint, we were upgraded to the riu palace for the remainder of the vacation which makes is so very happy! The palace is hands down a huge upgrade with much more selection, service, and amenities. Plus, the crowd was a nice variety and definitely not nearly as busy.

Requested 2nd floor w/2dble or queen beds - got !!! 2 TWINS & a BABYS' CRIB!!! Guess where 1 had to sleep-in a chair! Argued for 1 1/2 days to change us to what was requested, finally got a room with a couch! Registration people very unfriendly to rude. Sunwing Rep totally unco-operative & not willing to help. Room bar not regularly refilled. Not relaxing vacation at all!

Riu Bambu Hotel was beautifully maintained xnd very clean. The best part was the food!! The people were friendly and almost all spoke English enough to help you should you require aid. The only drawback for us were our Sunwing representatives who sold us two very similar outings and when questioned after the first one denied they were similar?? This was not the hotel's fault and I have emailed Sunwing

The grounds of this resort are beautiful, especially the Madagasgar Palms, our room was clean, the lobby was a pleasure to sit in, the public washrooms were well kept. The entertainment during the day, and at night was very good.

This was my very first time travelling and all I can say is that I was blown away. The resort was BEAUTIFUL, all of the staff and guests were all super friendly. It was exactly what I wanted and exactly what I inagined it to be. Great value too!

Just returned from this lovely resort. Punta Cana has an exceptional beach and the Riu Bambu has one of the best locations. Some of the other resorts were experiencing some sea weed issues but the Bambu seemed to have little to none. The beach is fantastic, you can always find a lounger but we would head down in the morning and put our towels on our desired spot. The resort is very nice, it is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the smoking – people smoke EVERYWHERE and as a non-smoker it can be quite overwhelming. The food is fine, you can always find something to eat however, AVOID the steakhouse. It is absolutely awful verging on inedible. We would return to this hotel.

Just got back from two weeks at the RIU Bambu and had a wonderful time. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The food was very good and the staff were very friendly. The grounds are beautiful and everything is immaculate.

Resort is older, food was ok nothing special, drinks are awful both alcoholic and non, juices were very syrupy and sweet. Dishes always dirty in all dining areas. Staff was friendly and entertainment was ok some shows better than others. Not many seats at the pool due to people saving with towels. We removed towels and sat in the chairs anyway and the people who left there towels never came to use the chairs. Overall wouldn't recommend this resort.

The grounds were beautiful. The food was excellent. I really enjoyed the pool. The rooms were okay a little disappointed there were no machines in the rooms. Overall a great stay. I'm not as big on Punta Cana. I perfer La Romana. But would go back to a Rui

From a younger woman's perspective, the resort is amazing! The resort staff treated us like family and always made sure that we were well taken care of. My favorite part would have to be the organized entertainment from 8am to 11pm with a three-hour break in the afternoon. Best resort I've stayed at so far. Staying at Riu, you get to visit the other Rius as well and I must say Riu Bambu beats them all. We spent a few hours at one Riu and 30 minutes at the other because we knew we were missing the best entertainment at our resort! Apart from the entertainment, the food was delicious - although I am a picky eater.. I should probably say the food that I like is delicious! There are many choices because you also get to eat at the other Rius as well. Drinks were great! You can ask for anything and they will be sure to make it for you. One bartender I would like to acknowledge is Ivan - he took care of us when we said we were sick. Gave us a drink called LA BOMBA and we felt better within hours! Thanks Ivan! The resort is huge with 700+ rooms so I would definitely recommend, when checking-in, to ask for a closer room. One thing that I disliked was how much seaweed was at the beach - not a fan of seaweed so I stayed at the pool a lot, and also dislike people asking me if I want to purchase something. A lot of sellers walking down the beach but they got to know me first couple days and didn't bother me for the rest of the week! Anyway, hope this helps out a bit! If you're like me and love entertainment, dancing, partying and those kind of things then I recommend this place %100.

The grounds were well kept. Rooms were a good size. Maid was excellent . Entertainment staff were amazing. Resort was always looked after with nice little touches. Fresh flowers throughout.Bathrooms kept clean and stocked.

I want to start by saying this is my second time at the rui bambu an I just love it there it has everything you would want in an al inclusive resort.It has free 45 min of wifi a day exellent al cartes an the pool is right by the ocean so you can have the best of both worlds if you want.The buffet has everything you could ask for pasta pizza steak pork an fish an a huge salad bar it has a self serve drink coffee pop water so there never line ups.If your looking for a real quiet resort the palace is next door.

The resort is very big . The service was great. The cleanliness is kept very well , with the only exception of our room had a bad smell of vomit when we first arrived. The king size bed was two beds pushed together ! They don't have ocean view because of how the layout of the rooms. The beach was not maintained for the seaweed . The dining service was great ! It was so well organized and the staff deserves a lot more of whatever their salary is. They didn't miss a beat. I would like to say I would return to the Riu Bambu .
