We booked two weeks at the Riu Macao in April 2026. It was very good. If you look at the resort website, there are no bad surprizes. The room was clean, well stocked with clean towels, the bar was restocked daily. The beach is exceptional. We did not use the pool but there are 4 of them. Pepe`s food at noon had some of the best burgers we have ever had. Food at The Patio was very good & lots of it. The coffee bar is great as well as The Cuban Bar. Ver Pleased.

HOTEL FULL OF 20 OR LESS YEAR OLDS WHO RUINED THINGS FOR MANY REPEAT CUSTOMERS WHO WERE LOOKING FOR REST AND RELAXATION. BEACH BAR MILES SEEMED FROM THE LOUNGES ON THE BEACH. OUR ROOM WAS OVERLOOKING THE LOADING DOCK OF THE HOTEL NEXT DOOR. TRACTOR TRAILERS IN AND OUT AT ALL HOURS OF DAY AND NIGHT SO OUR BALCONY WAS NO REFUGE FROM THE DRUNK KIDS !!!!

My husband and I stayed for a week at this resort and loved it! The beach was beautiful. The pools were great, and there was an endless assortment of food and drinks. We could not have asked for a better stay! We would highly recommend this hotel!

We loved the Riu Palace Macao. Check in and out at the desk was easy. They accommodated our group of six in the same building and on the same floor with King beds. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower water was always hot. The room was clean and quiet (room 5113). The buffet was very good. ALL the buffet staff were always friendly and moved tables so our group of six could sit together. Pepe's Food Grill at the pool was amazing! The grounds and bathrooms were always clean. We especially enjoyed ALL the activity staff who made our stay fun! Everyday there were activities around the pool. Short easy games of hoop toss, ladder toss, corn hole, board bowling, darts, plinko, bingo etc. There were two ping pong tables at the pool that we enjoyed using. Everything was within easy walking distance for us 65 + visitors.

Our room at first was horrible but went to front desk told be to return at 3pm, I did and they gave me keys for another room to check it out 100 percent better and moved after the first night. Buffet was good but if not there when first open if you want hot food you need to find someone making something any hot food sitting was normally cool (microwave might have helped) overall thou great time and meet great people!

Could not give it a higher rating than telling my friends and family to visit. The service was exceptional and location was beautifull. The cleaning staff were prompt and requests were filled quickly. Food was great as was the variety. White neon and pink parties...must attend

There is really nothing one can say negative, from check in, changing rooms because of my back, no fault of theirs. no line ups for anything the newly renovated place seems to run with ease, no bugs, no seaweed...super clean, service for pool drinks or dinner was impeccable. My only suggestion would be the house wine selection has much to be desired.

We just returned home from 11 glorious days at Rio, Palace Macao. I have to say that this is the most beautiful resort that we have ever been to, and there have been a lot. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the upkeep of the entire resort, including the beach. The food was more than we ever could’ve asked for and the service was amazing. We never waited more than one minute for a drink the entire stay. We love the size of this resort and the fact that everything was close to wherever you wanted to be, but saying that it still didn’t feel closed in. As far as our room goes, we had a superior junior suite which they actually upgraded us to when we arrived. Our room was a little bit musty when we first walked in, but it had not been used for a few days so had been closed up. I went to the front desk and asked them if they could spray when they cleaned the next day and they did and it made a big difference. I also highly recommend taking the moisture bags and hanging a couple in your room as it was amazing the difference they made. I loved the location of our room as well. We were in the corner tower overlooking the swim up bar pool , so we had lots to watch late afternoon when the parties began. We never attended any of the pool parties but everyone that did had a great time but we did enjoy listening to the music. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants an adult only wonderful vacation. We definitely will be returning as I cannot think of another resort that would give us everything that we wanted and then some.

Louise Endean was instrumental in suggesting our day trip with the squirrel monkeys which we thoroughly enjoyed! The hotel was always clean, the food was exceptional and the beach was free of seaweed and beautiful blue!

This resort is lovely and very clean. Exactly what we were looking for. Very relaxing! The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The only negative comment was the vendors on the beach were quite persistent. As well, very persistent is attempting to sell illegal drugs. Was approached very day to buy ‘weed’ and cocaine. Very annoying!

This was our second time staying at this resort.We loved it enough to come back.It was even better this time.The menus at the a la cartes changed since last year so we thoroughly enjoyed some new dishes.Buffet is always good.The staff is superb.Any issues were dealt with quickly and pleasantly.The beach has many lounges with beautiful palm trees for shade.

We enjoyed our stay at the Riu Palace Macao during the last week of February 2024. The resort has a very welcoming and friendly environment. Staff at the front desk were very helpful and courteous. The hotel grounds are neatly kept, and house-keeping staff do an excellent job. Restaurants had excellent food and the service was great. Evening entertainment was excellent and had many guests singing and dancing with much joy! Beach was clean and very appealing with nice and clean. We had great weather too!

We were very impressed with the renovation that was completed on the hotel. The rooms are updated and lovely. Very calming colors. The theatre is wonderful. Instead of being inside the building it opens up to the outside which is great. So much wonderful seating everywhere and great viewpoints from every chair. The decor has been upgraded in all restaurants and is really very nice and the main lobby is great.

We have vacationed at the Palace Macao since many years and we had a swim up Elite suite for the first time in November. Fantastic! No more going up elevators and down long hallways, we were only steps away from the beach and all the amenities. We had always enjoyed the Macao, and after the renovations, it is even better than it was before. Our favorite features are the large "palm tree forest" where you can always find a lounger and shade, the huge shared Riu property beach, Scuba Caribe on site, and the many seating areas available in the "verandah" which runs the width of the hotel. Service is always great, and the resort is always well kept and clean. We will be back for our 7th time!

We had a great time the service,food, rooms and people were amazing. Glad we went with this resort. Highly recommend it. The entertainment was good the beach had ample room and chairs with sun and shade available. If you want a spot by the pool it maybe a early rise to get one.

Everything was good at the Riu Palace Macao. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was helpful and friendly and the food and drink was varied and delicious. The weather was fabulous and the beach was stunning. What more can you ask for? As for Covid precautions - no one anywhere (staff or guests) wore a mask. The buffet was open to everyone touching everything. There were hand sanitizing stations about but they were rarely used. I can't blame the hotel for this because it was the same at the airport in Punta Cana. Even at the airport in Hamilton and on the plane, there were very few people wearing masks. I guess it's the general feeling among travelers that the pandemic is over (not!).

The staff were amazing! Friendly, humorous, and willing to go above and beyond to make us happy. The food was good. Everything was clean, although the resort is a bit older. They could use additional beach/pool chairs and a bit more flexibility with the towels.

This was our first time at an all inclusive resort and our first time in DR. 33F, 27F and 44M. It was myself, my boyfriend and my sister.This was so over the top amazing, the entertainment in particular, Gerston, Pedrito and others who's names escape me really made sure everyone had the opportunity to get up, dance, play and have fun. The wait staff were also so so nice and accommodating, shout out to Marcos! The food was great, no reservations needed. Things were always kept clean and available. Be warned they clean rooms twice a day. Morning and evening until 11pm. So if you don't want to be interrupted make sure your do no disturb sign is up! Haha. It's adults only, a lot of elderly people BUT there is still a good amount of young adults to hang with. Also the RIU parties are LIT! Enjoyed very much. Will be back every year if I can.

This is my 5th time at this resort and really enjoy everything about it. The only thing is the air conditioning is terrible everytime i go. I always go to the front desk and they send somebody up to try and fix it and no results. Other then tgat the pool is great , staff is on top of things and i always enjoy the food. The grounds are well kept. I know there doing renivations in the new year and will looking forward to my next visit to tge Riu Macoa.

Everything was great Rooms are a bit outdated Our internet on our tv stopped working halfway into our stay and nobody could fix it Although they gave it a good try Otherwise happy with everything I was really disappointed with Sunwing Airline Having to transfer to another terminal was a pain

The resort is up and running again. The staff are working diligently to impress their guests with amazing meals and impeccably kept rooms and gardens. Service was great except for the daily bar cart room service which was very hit and miss. During our two week stay we received service only on three occasions, after we spoke with the front desk attendants. We had to go to the front desk each day, other than the three when we received replenishment, to obtain bottles of water. All other aspects of our two week stay were excellent. The beach was amazing and the pools were beautiful and kept very clean.

This resort is amazing! The grounds are well kept and the facility is constantly being cleaned by staff. The food quality and selection is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing, except when we were there it was windy and therefore there was more seaweed being swept on shore, but once you got through it the water was wonderful. These people who work in the resort work very long hours, something I'm sure most people wouldn't do and I'm very disappointed that some guests don't leave a tip at the end of their meals. I understand that tips are included, but if you can't afford a dollar or two after you dinner you shouldn't be going there. We will definitely be coming back to this beautiful resort. It was awesome!!

Food was good, lots of variety . The only restaurant not worth trying was the Japanese, from the food to the service the experience was horrible . Grounds were well kept , beach was beautiful and the entertainment staff were super nice and friendly . Overall it was a good experience .

This adult resort is truly a 4 Star resort. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great facilities. Clean well appointed rooms. Good variety of food, beautiful beach and large pool. Plenty of lounge chairs by the pool and on the beach. Close to the airport. Being a non smoker I would like to see designated smoking areas.

I’d read a few mixed reviews on this resort... glad I didn’t listen! Loved my room, it was an upgraded junior suite with a jacuzzi tub, it was comfortable and clean and cool! The food at the buffet was good, plentiful, and a lot of variety. I went to one a la carte restaurant, and found the buffet to be just as good , if not better. The staff were plentiful and pleasant. No complaints there! The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs, even if you showed up late. The pools were clean and there were always chairs available there as well, you might have to look a little harder for them. There were a few vendors who patrolled the beach, but did not bother you if you showed no interest. I would recommend this resort in a heartbeat! I found the clientele averaged about 50-55 years old. I wouldn’t hesitate in returning.

Loved our stay at the RIU Palace Macao. Best beach ever with never ending white sand. Excellent service and great succulent food! Never had to wait for specialty restaurants. No need to wake up early to reserve loungers, they have plenty around pools and beach area. Loved it and will return!

My husband and I really enjoyed the resort and its offerings. Very clean rooms and surroundings. We particularly enjoy the buffet since it offered a variety of foods. Although they had several restaurants that you could go without reservations, we preferred the food at the buffet. Beaches are very nice and clean. Staff is very friendly. We also have very fond memories of Yoanna, at the front desk. She was so helpful and welcoming, actually they were all so nice and welcoming. They only drawback I would have is that this hotel would need renovations since it's dated and they would need to keep up with all the newer hotels in that region. All in all it was a great vacation.

Very clean inside, well maintained grounds outside, pools and beach area. Dining service can be improved. Servers should be thought that their first and foremost job is to serve the guests. Tips would come as a bonus not as an expectation first. Same as house cleaning. I generously tipped everyone, especially housekeeping because they work very hard. I observed this behaviour among some younger servers in dining areas. Reception service is extremely high and accommodating. Very pleased with reception.

This was a fantastic resort for a holiday and would go back many more times.The people took care of all your needs and where very well liked by all. The property was very clean,the pools were clean and warm the food was to die for fantastic variety every meal time,the beach was very clean and the ocean was nice and warm.The nightly entertainment was first class great shows.I would recommend this resort to any family and friends to go there. The Riu Palace Macao is a lovely Adults Only resort. The grounds and properties are well maintained. The Animation (recreation) staff are exceptional. Participated in stretching and water aerobics daily. The beach area is lovely. Food at the buffet was awesome! All staff extremely friendly and accommodating.

Having been to a number of RIU properties in the past we decided to try a more intimate site. Great decision! Perfect size for a relaxing holiday with all the RIU amenities we love. The staff were great and welcoming.

We liked everything about the hotel complex but the room. That was our fault. We booked standard room and got a postage stamp room with a small double bed and the room was at the farthest corner of the resort from everything. I should have gone for upgraded room.

This is our second time at Riu Palace Macao and will go back next year. The properly is very clean, the rooms are very neat and clean. No complaints about the food and THE STAFF ARE VERY VERY FRIENDLY. The group age is between 45 to 75 approximately and maybe a hand full of young adults. The entertainment during the day and night is fantastic.

The Riu Palace Macao is a beautiful hotel, from your first glimpse of the open and airy lobby until you reach your room and the views from your very private veranda. The Front Desk staff are very nice and informative and will help you with every inquiry and problem you may have during your stay. This is where you will ask for water for your room if you find there is none in your fridge. This is a quieter resort than what we are accustomed to staying at, which we really enjoyed. The shows in the evening are in an area that is away from the hotel far enough as to not keep you up at night if you aren't interested in being a participant. There are some activities going on around the pool during the day that you can join into and enjoy if you wish. The hotel has four a la carte dining rooms that you do not need to make a reservation at, as well as the buffet area. The food was very good at every place that we ate at during our stay. We didn't get to the steak house as it was always very full and lots of people waiting for a table, so I'm going to assume that the food is excellent there as well. The portions are big, which is great for a large appetite and also different from other a la carte resort restaurants that we have been to, you won't leave feeling hungry. The waiters are all very friendly and efficient. Some of them enjoy joking around and that's always good for a laugh. Everyone dresses up for Dinner, even at the buffet restaurant which was different for us, but I like to get dressed up so I enjoyed that as well. I noticed that there were a lot of people who liked to sit around the bar and lobby area in the evenings after Dinner and have drinks. This really isn't our thing but for those of you who enjoy socializing, you would have a good opportunity to do so at this hotel. We enjoy heading back to our hotel room and relaxing after Dinner. The rooms were very quiet and I don't think we heard our neighbours once. There is a lady who cleans your room, a gentleman who brings around the drink cart and a lady who brings towels to your room at night, as well as 24 hour room service that we tried one time. The food was good and the portions were more than what we needed. Bring lots of small bills for tipping. There is an in-room safe which is always an important safety feature for any resort. We had a bit of a problem opening it but it turns out that we had too much stuff in it and the door was being pushed out so it wouldn't open when we put in our code. So, helpful tip, don't overstuff your safe. I celebrated my 51st birthday while we were there, I had happy birthday sang to me twice, once on one of our excursions and once at the Japanese restaurant, as well as a very tasty birthday cake. The lady who made up the room decorated it, which was also a first for me. We usually travel south during mine and my spouses birthdays and this is the first time this has happened. They also gave me some gifts from the hotel. I believe a Punta Cana coffee cup, a little Riu Palace girl statue, some chocolates, a bottle of red wine, and a small bottle of mamauana alone with a birthday greeting card from the hotel. This made my day feel very special. The beach was amazing, beautiful soft white sand, gorgeous palm trees and very few beach vendors. The bar staff waited on you at the beach as well. The water was very warm and great for taking a dip. Lots of beach chairs, we never had a problem finding a place to sit back and enjoy the beach. All in all, one of the best beach experiences I've had so far at any of the resorts we've been to. If you walk way down the beach to the right of the hotel you will find a bunch of vendors, I wouldn't recommend going there. The prices were too high and they didn't really want to dicker at all. We bought a (what we were told) a hand carved wooden turtle which broke a leg in the luggage on the way home and it turned out to be cement of some kind. We are looking in to repairing it but I was very dissapointed as we paid $60 US for it. So, buyer beware. The place to pick up souvenirs is a bunch of little shops along a road just to the right of the hotel. The shop keepers are easy to dicker with and this is where we got the majority of our souvenirs. They also have a small pharmacy there for small things that you may need taken care of health wise. We didn't go to the Casino as we are not gamblers, but there is one in the hotel if that is your thing. The pools are beautiful and we did find that the beach chairs fill up faster here. We only went to the bar pool a couple of times but we enjoyed this pool very much. Something that we noticed and were happy about is that they use a heavy plastic, reusable cup for their drinks at this hotel, so no plastic garbage being thrown out. We enjoyed this resort very much, older more mature patrons made for a quieter, less party like atmosphere that we enjoyed.

The hotel is very clean and easy to function from place to place . Room very clean could use a update mattress because it sink on one side but this is detail,bathroom very functional and clean overall the room is great .The Buffet was awesome very high quality food and presentation and service is A+ all the way . Pool clean ans easy to use well maintain not too big but no problem using it . Entertainment, at 8:30 Pm every night was ok they play a lot of Spanish song that we don't understand and not that easy to dance on but it okay it dose the work . Entertainment continue inside at 9:30 PM nice room the seating is excellent but very cold the AC is working there but maybe for the personnel doing the show need to have it cold . The beach add a lot of Seawee and they clean it on and off by hand which take days that should be machinery clean everyday. Overall great resort well maintain very polite and smiley personnel . Would recommend

It was excellent. The room was very comfortable. The pool was very clean went out at 930every morning and had no problem getting lounger chair. Out of all the resorts I've been to the Riu has the best food. The staff were very good . Overall I really enjoyed this resort and would not hesitate to go back.

One of the best resorts I have gone to, food was amazing, service was great, a friendly smile on every employee. Resort was not overly big which was nice. Beach close, good frontage along beach, lots of chairs to relax. Great nightly shows. 3 pools one swim up bar. Pluses all over the resort, never tried the alcarte cause buffet was so amazing, different theme for dinner every day, and always the regular main stays (chicken, fish, pork/beef etc). Great selection of food. And a great desert bar cheers

The hotel was just a nice size. food was excellent. The staff were amazing. Very friendly and accomadating. The swim up pool bar was fantastic, with lots of room and seating. Fun activities. The rooms were moderate. Overall an excellent experience. We would travel agaim.

This is by far the nicest hotel we've been to. This is our second time at Punta Cana and our second "adults only" resort. The quality and selection of the food was fantastic. Even the picky eaters would never go hungry. The service at both the pool bar and the lobby bar was first class. The wait staff was very attentive and quick to bring your drinks. The grounds were impeccable and there was always cleaning staff continually making sure everything was spotless. The beach was beautiful with lots of lounge chairs and palm trees for shade. The rooms were well kept and the turn down service at night was a lovely touch. We got the free bus that took us to a cigar factory, a chocolate factory and a very large souvenir store. The only negative was when we booked our catamaran/snorkel tour on the plane. It was cheaper that buying it at the resort, but it was pretty lame for the price. Of course there will always be picky people who aren't happy unless they are complaining about even the smallest things, but to those people, perhaps you need to stay home. This is after all a third world country, so get over yourself. We are seasoned travelers and consider this a 5 star all the way and we will return for sure.

The Sun Wing staff was great on both flights despite a bit of a delay getting out of Punta Cana. We were placed in rooms immediately (traveling with another couple) both rooms had air conditioning that did not work, we asked for a room change the best Tiu staff could offer was an upgrade at 8400.00 Dominican dollars each and the staff insisted that it had to be in cash, I have to suspect that the management there split the money among them or we could have paid with a credit card. The food was good in the buffet and fantastic in the ala carte although the Kabuki was not the greatest although the head waiter Medeiros was energetic and comical. The room was cleaned regularly we were always offered extra towels and our bed was always turned down when we returned from evening activities. Drinks were served at the beach, around the pool, and on the patio the service was incredible. The pool bar was lots of fun with Virgilio, Smarlin being at the ready at all times, no one solicited tips but due the great service they were happily given. The entertainment was good take the time to attend the shows. The activities staff were great, Any, Chili, Eddie Spaghetti, were just a few they were all great. I like the fact that this resort seems to have centralized the activities so that everyone has the chance for involvement.

Perfect vacation spot for the older crowd seeking a quiet adult only space. The room was a bit musty at first, but that's to be expected in this climate. Keep the AC running and it's gone in no time. Excellent service, excellent food, fantastic staff. Can't wait for next year to go back. Our only issue was at the Airport and the monstrous out-of-control children on the plane - both of which are out of Sunwing's control.

Very clean grounds, beach, pools, bars and all restrooms. Food was great with alot of variety. Had to get out early to get a decent spot by the pool. No shortage of drinks. Lots of daily poolside and beach games if you like.

We visited two years ago and just loved it so much we decided to travel there again. We spent one week at the Hotel Riu Macao from Dec 1st to 8th, 2017. 1. This hotel is looking tired. Even though there were some upgrades last year (new pool, two new buildings closer to the water, new eating terrace adjacent to the main buffet) the building as a whole is beginning to show it's age. 2. Our Room: The sliding doors to the balcony in our room were not working properly as the sensor on the doors were responsible for the air conditioning. If the sensors did not meet the air would not come on. Housekeeping was great, our linens and towels changed regularly but in general the room looked a bit unkept. eg. The garbage can was unclean, the floors under the bed and dressers were not cleaned well. The room was t and if you caught the "drink guy" on his rounds to refill your fridge you were good to go. The mattress in our room was very hard and uncomfortable. We found that the average couple by age to be older than my husband and I and I'm sure if there were more mattresses as ours there would be some very unhappy travellers trying to have a relaxing and comfortable night's sleep. 3. Service: In general the service was great but there were a few servers (particularly around the pool) that felt they were "entitled to a tip" otherwise they would bee line it away from you the rest of the day. The servers on the beach side were fabulous and had quite a trek to fetch your drinks. They were always there with a smile and never missed a drive by without asking if you needed something. The lunch and dinner services at the buffet and the restaurants, again in general, were also excellent! I have to also mention new this year, no reservations were required! Show up and if they are full they will send you away with a beeper to let you know when your table is ready! psst- the lamb at the Italian restaurant and fillet at the Steakhouse were Ah-mazing! The omelettes at the breakfast buffet and awesome selection of lunch salads, cheeses and other goodies.... the hamburger at the fusion restaurant Krystal is to die for at lunch. 4. This property is so beautiful and once they have done a major overhaul it will really be amazing. It is small and intimate and we will return one day once they have made these changes. Riu Palace Macao has a very high standard when it comes to customers service and care. The resort staffs always work hard to offer vacationers unforgettable memories from grounds, rooms, swimming pool, pool's activities, delicacies to entertainment. This is my first visit at Riu Palace Macao (August 13 - August 20, 2017), and I really impressed with the resort's staffs behavior and service. The only negativity that I had experienced is the beach that is really hard to swim due to a lot of seaweed (seasonal???). However, I will give Riu Palace Macao a 5-star resort overall.

Was a little sceptical about going back to the Dominican republic but really loved this resort the food was amazing and the staff were freindly and helpful. We did have one issue with our room it extremely noisy our room backed on to the Rui bamboo wich is under construction lots noise early morning and late at night ,the second day we complained and with in our third day the up graded us free to a better room excellent customer service made our vacation great!!

The resort grounds were well kept and the resort is small so you can get to the dining areas and beaches just a short walk away. The food was excellent. The rooms could use some updating and the nightly entertainment definitely needs improvement.

Excellent service, great food, awesome bartenders, very clean, smaller resort but was great, less walking for dinner, wonderful beach area. All workers were very very friendly and most of them spoke English.

We totally enjoyed this lovely resort. Clean room, nice view, great food choices, beautiful beach nice pools, many lounge chairs. Even with six of us we always managed to find lounge chairs in sun or shade. The staff are over the top helpful and friendly to everyone. I highly recommend this resort.

Have been to several Riu's before but not a palace. The palace is a step up from the regular Riu's which themselves are excellent. Everything at the resort was exceptional. We couldn't find anything to complain about.

I have been to many resort in my travels. My thoughts are a resort is a resort there all pretty much the same, rooms,food,pool so on. But when you go back to a resort because of the SERVICE that's the different's. I have never been taken care like this EVER at any other resorts. It starts from the front desk, David Guillermo Rodriguez, Restaurant Buffet, Manuel Polanco, Noel Diaz, Luilli Argenis , Wilson Adames Suero, Vigilio Suarez Almanzar, Juan Rodriguez, Maria Santana ( Entertainment ). Theses are the people that made our decision to coma back this year. Will be going back next year and so looking forward to it.

Stayed at the resort Nov 7 for one week. Guests were split 30% each Brits, Germans and Americans. Age range 30 to 70. Check-in was efficient. Rooms nothing special but functional and clean. Maid service was rated 5 stars. Perhaps leave some school supplies rather than tips for the maids. The Macao complex is really compact. From the hotel reception to the put your toe in the ocean is less than a three minute walk The Activity team rated 6 stars. They work from 10.00a.m until at least 11.00p.m. This includes being dance partners in the lobby in the evening. Entertainment through various groups was provided in the lobby in the evening. We enjoy dancing so we spent quite a bit of time there in the evening. If you don't dance still good people watching. Food at the Buffet was rated 4 stars. Typical AI food. Lots of both fresh and already prepared. There are four A la Carte rests. We tried the Steak twice and the Krystal twice. The Steak is fair. I ordered both the steak and the lobster which was nice. The Krystal serves a more Gourmet style and is the best restaurant for ambience and service. We did not use the Italian or the Jap. rest based on comments from guests. What needs more? Entertainment in the theatre rates 2 stars. Very mediocre dance shows. The saving grace for the theatre is that it is air conditioned even though the doors open and close frequently. It is a nice respite from the humidity. This was probably our 25th Michael Jackson show. Enough!!! The ironic part of this show is that the dancers today "moonwalk" 20 times better than MJ ever did. Drinks are also rated 2 stars. No top shelf drinks. Beer is EL president.The wine is also a step above home made. Much as management argue that on TA it's true, however in our case not a huge problem The wait staff was very good and really friendly. Smoking. The hotel management need to prohibit smoking for both the breakfast and dinner outdoor patio. On two separate occasions we just sat down to eat breakfast and four people on the table behind us light up. Not good. More so with the current rules in Ontairo (I feel sorry for smokers esp. since it is legal). In summary we paid $3000 for our stay and really enjoyed ourselves. Whilst the review doesn't seem particularly positive, I try to highlight the points that I feel the hotel could improve on for the money paid. Of the 20+ AI's we have stayed this would not be highly rated esp. compared to the Iberostar resorts.

The resort was beautiful and the grounds well maintained. Service was excellent with both housekeeping and food service. Free Wi fi was a great feature and no issues accessing it from any point in the resort. Only one issue which is out of the resorts control was the amount of smokers during our one week stay. Even with the outdoor covered bar area there was still many times the smoke was extremely heavy.

The food was hot, excellent favors and the selection was fantastic. We had both red and black caviar, lobster, crab, smoked salmon, a selection of fish dishes, beef dishes, lamb, duck, chicken, pasta, roast turkey, roast beef, roast pork, roast chicken, multiple salads, pizzas, multiple vegetable dishes, exotic fruit, multiple deserts including a chocolate fountain. The list of food types and variations goes on and on... Cleanliness was clearly evident as staff members continually run around making everything look perfect. The rooms were clean, bright, cool, and no musty smell whatsoever. Every staff member was very pleasant and eager to accommodate all our wants. There is even a pool waiter bringing you drinks as you lounge in the sun around the "clean" pool. The ocean and beach was both warm and clean with plenty of loungers, umbrellas, palm trees, and space whether you wanted full sun, shade or anything in-between. The white sand on the beach which stretched from the pool to the ocean (over 200 feet) was free of buts and finer than sugar. No, there is no slide at the pool, no mini golf, and no giant chess board, as this is an "adults only" resort. On the other end of the scale, this is also not the Ritz where you "must have" designer clothing. Those who are looking for those types of atmospheres may not appreciate this place and should go elsewhere. To end, both my wife and I had a great time at the Macao and look forward to our return if, "and only if", we can get there without flying Sunwing as there inability to maintain a schedule resulted in a total delay time of 30 hours, 16hr on the way there and 12 on the way back....I can say that I now know both airports like the back of my hand...

My husband and I recently stayed at the Riu Palace Macao and had a wonderful vacation. The people were all very friendly and there to meet all your needs. Food selection was plenty, well presented and very tasty! Beach is wonderful and the property was well maintained. Our room was clean and refreshments restocked daily. Would definitely recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed!

This was our 3rd trip to this resort, having been to Riu Palace Punta Cana. Riu Bambu and Riu Palace Macao, this is by far our favorite Riu! Affordable, very clean, great rooms, beds very comfortable, lovely shower, excellent food and choices, good entertainment & amazing friendly staff every where who go above and beyond to please you and welcome you to their country! Most speak some English and are happy when you try some Spanish. There are 2 pools, bar pool and larger one as well with lots of loungers. We prefer the beach as sand is white, water is turquoise blue and usually nice breeze. sometime waves are a bit high but not always. Lots of Palm trees for shade and this too is one of the reasons we love the Riu Resorts, don't need Huts. Need to go before breakfast and get your loungers in shade, but usually no trouble finding chairs if not needing shade. Grounds are wonderful and Gardeners are always seen busy every day doing some trimming,planting etc. Staff all work very hard, long hours and many days, never expect tips but are very happy to receive even a $ as recognition of their work. We hope to return again next year as this resort has all we want and could ask for & 3 times now has never let us down!!

I have been there three times and look forward going back there again and again. I love it's layout, its so beautiful and practical. The Hotel is fresh and clean, gives great service and has such pleasant staff, good entertainment and excellent cuisine.
