The hotel building and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are spacious, but not well-maintained. We had one of the best rooms available, but it had a long list of things that did not work. Staff fixed most items, but why would management leave it to guests to do the inspections? The Italian and Spanish restaurants are very good. Los Arcos is poor, and the main buffet is quite good. Our major complaints were the endless loud music (11 am to 6 pm every day), which follows you everywhere, even into your room, and the very uncomfortable pool loungers. If you like a quiet and comfortable holiday, avoid this resort.

Clean, good service. Only downside was I had to pay for zero beer. Other than that the food was great and room service was great. Front desk was super helpful. Enjoyed my stay at the this resort and would stay again.

This resort is a lovely place. It is not an overly large resort, which is what we had hoped for. It is beachfront on a bay at Mismaloya. It is a 25 minute drive south of Centro PV. Fifty minutes from PVR airport. There are 3 or 4 pools including a children's pool with a built-in slide. Some staff do recreational programs in the pool area. Leading aqua fit and some games. Table tennis and large chess set by the pool. We had a deluxe suite 700 sq.feet. It was very spacious with king-size bed, large walk-in shower, small sitting room plus bedroom with couch, dresser, dining table and two chairs. There is a large balcony with view of pools and ocean. There are only a few other resorts around it but there are no other facilities outside the resort. A large buffet dining room overlooks the beach and ocean, plus 3 theme restaurants ( all included in the price). We found all the staff friendly and attentive. The weather was perfect 28 degrees C average. We enjoyed our stay at Barcelo PV very much.

Firstly the area and property of the resort and its surroundings is beautiful with mountains and jungle. The resort itself is very clean and about a 45-1hour drive from the airport. The staff is very pleasant and aim to please, David and Moses were stand outs. The reins are very large and more than you will ever need. Don’t waste your money on the upgraded prestige package it provides very little for the money. The resort is close to snorkelling and other boat tours so no need to head into PV. The resort buffet for breakfast was great, like most resorts the buffet was mediocre for lunch and dinner. The lunch shack with tacos and plate lunch was good and the À la Carter’s were good. This is a quieter resort with not much to do at night. The pools and wether we’re perfect. The beach was small and the bay has a ton of boats, not the nicest but it did the job. I would recommend this resort to others overall. I would rate this resort a 4 out of 5

Pros: Gorgeous views from the room, not overly busy, lots of seating/lounging options, good entertainment. Resort was clean, pools were nice. Staff was very friendly. Felt safe even with the public beach and restaurants nearby. Cons: Both beds in our room gave us back pain because they were sinking. Pillows were too thick for my liking, more back pain lol. Food was a bit dry and not as tasty as other Barcelo resorts. Something I ate upset my stomach (suspecting it was the fruit). Beach is public and waves and undertow can get pretty strong even for good swimmers. There was no conditioner in our showers, just shampoo and two body wash.

This Resort is about 30 minutes from PV on quiet bay. Resort beautiful. Pools lovely. Especially the adult pool. Beach not so good. Only other issue was standing in libe every morning to book reservations for restaurants. Even if first in line could only get 8 pm supper. Premium were able to book ahead. Food was good as well as the service. It would be nice if they had early evening entertainment.

An outside grill for lunch would be needed so you don’t need to change cloths if you are poolside Very friendly atmosphere Whale watching and snorkelling were great and awesome dive Center staff were more than helpful

We have been to PVR.... hmm about 17 times and this time we decided to try the Barcelo. After arriving at the airport in Puerto Vallarta, we located our West jet agent outside and they quickly had us on our way to the Hotel. It was about 35 to 40 minutes from the airport. Once we arrived at the Barcelo we were greeted with two cool glasses of Champagne and the check in took about 3 minutes. The Hotel is a bit older but kept in great condition. The rooms are huge and all come with a balcony. The grounds are well manicured and staff are continuing cleaning the area. There are two pools, one for Adults only and the other for kids. We never had to worry about not getting a chair during our stay. There is a small beach out front and well manicured and safe. We found the 4 restaurants adequate and the main Buffet was totally Awesome, morning, noon and evening. They have a small bar outside of the Buffet so you could come early and have a drink before dinner. Yes they do have a Pickleball court ;-). Nightly entertainment was Great! This was a Great hotel for families, singles and older Seniors. The staff were always there to help and very very friendly. Our booking was all done through Nicole Deforest at Trip Central.ca she did a Marvellous Job. Thank you Nicole.... We will be Back!

Beautiful grounds surrounded by the mountains, the views are magnificent, the rooms are spacious and clean with a daily supply of drinks, the food and drinks in the buffet are delicious! I'd give solid 4 stars to this hotel!

We were very pleased with everything at the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. The only downside was the isolated location but it is only a downside if you want to travel off the resort regularly throughout your vacation

We stayed here December 7-17 2022. Overall a nice hotel in a scenic area near Puerto Vallarta. Food and service were fine. We had booked a Premium room which was a nice size and the view was very nice. Seems like all rooms face the water. We were in Tower one on the ninth floor. Beach is small with lots of boat traffic so snorkeling and swimming is restricted to a small area of the cove. Pools were nice though. Loud music from 9am until 5pm. If there is a wedding, the music continues until 11pm. There were 3 weddings in the 10 days we were there. Not very relaxing. Would not recommend if you want a quiet holiday.

We had a wonderful 10 day stay at this Barcelo. The hotel and all the amenities were topnotch, the staff were friendly, helpful and professional, our room was luxurious and the weather was just right! The only aspect that really disappointed us was the food. Whether at the buffet or at the specialty restaurants, the quality and variety weren't up to the standards we've come to expect from this resort chain. Especially disappointing was how difficult it was to find out about gluten-free food options. We eventually managed to get a translated card from the concierge to show to the serving folks, but they never seemed too interested in helping me understand what my gluten-free options were. We presumed that this may well be due to covid supply chain challenges, so hopefully things change soon again as we'd love to come back here again!

Beautiful setting perfect distance away from busy Puerto Vallarta! Hotel staff amazing and always smiling and trying to do their best to make our stay great! Food really good. Steakhouse and pizza was the best I’ve ever had! Rooms huge and every room had ocean view. Pool and activities fantastic! Beach nice, waves challenging! Whales jumping, shows at night were great! All in all a great place to stay!

This was one of the best resorts that i have visited, The food was great,staff very friendly,rooms always clean. Great entertainment,lots of shops on site.Thanks to Karol for recommending this resort.

The resort was fabulous, food pretty decent and staff were super nice. Issue we did have however, we arrived 8AM from an over night flight with next to no sleep, and had no room to rest in as check in was not until 3pm.We had to figure out 6'ish hours by the pool, where we ended up sleeping. Uncomfortable start to the trip.

Everything was perfect except the nightly shows. They would have been great if not of the over sexualized costumes of the women. I chalked it up to Mexico being behind the times. I especially enjoyed the rooms, clean and comfortable. Snack Bar was great. Staff was kind and helpful.

Travelled to Barcelo in late Feb and had a great week. The 4 of us found the food quite to our liking, the pool was excellent and the service was fantastic. Only drawback is no free wifi area and it's too far for easy access to the old town area. Highly recommend this resort.

We spent 10 days in February. Maintenance of the hotel is poor: rooms smell musty, public washrooms are poorly services; food is ok, but variety could be better. Our whole family (6 people) got sick with some sort of bug. We complained to administration, but got told that there is nothing going around the hotel. However, we undertsand from other guests that many of them got sick with the same symptoms as us. Good shows and entertainment crew is trying their best. Very small property with not much to do.

The hotel, rooms and grounds are kept spotless. All three restaurants we went to were very good. Plenty of swimming pools with hot tubs. The beach area some what restrictive with a coarse sand and no opportunity for good walks. However easy to access lounge chairs around pools. Bus service into Puerto Vallarta for 10 pesos taking about 30 minutes. Staff friendly and service top class.

It's a small resort in middle of nowhere. it's 40 minute cab ride of downtown Puerta Vallarta. the rooms need some upgrading and there's always repairs going on. The buffet is limited and lacking in the variety of food. I am a beach person but spent the whole week by the pool. the beach is not great for swimming or laying in the sun. the loungers are in the shade for most the day and the waters are rough for swimming. Housekeeping lacked since everyday I had to go hunting for wash cloths, face towels and a bath mat. even after leaving a generous tip the service did not improve. this was my first time to this resort and would not go back. overpaid for the service received.

The hotel was nice, considering an older building. Clean rooms. Had issues getting linen had to ask for it everyday. We had a note on our bed 3rd day in to use our towels more than once and shut of all electricity when leaving room to save on hydro..eg A-C and fans. Also only changed sheets every other day if asked if not they would change them on 3rd day. Problems with wi-fi all week and we paid for it. Food was ok.The beach area was terrible, very small and a lot of small boats sitting there, waiting to take you out to see the whales, and snorkeling. The under toe was some what bad and everyday. Entertain was good a show every night...but no disco's. When we went it was last minute received a little break on the amount..but not worth the $$$$. Won't go back to that resort.

The room was really large with two bathrooms and two king sized beds. Great view of the ocean. The pools are great, and so are the hot tubs. The grounds were nice. The food was very good (especially the a la cart restaurants. Service was good and the staff are very attentive. I would consider returning for sure.

Staff was amazing from the pool to the canteena (Jose and Adrian). Japanese supper was excellent. Conceiarge was very helpful if you need them. Room was nice always clean and kept the bar fridge stocked.

Rooms are amazing, very large with huge patio or balcony. Service is awesome. I only have one complaint, the very small mosquitoes. You could barely see them, they loved me so I had multiple bites. However, my husband did not have a single one.

Our family was having an amazing vacation until we were talking to others at the resort that kept waking up covered in unexplained bites. Asked the Air Transat rep and he confirmed the resort has a bed bugs problem and advised to sleep with bug spray on. We were terrified that we could bring something home in our luggage so we stopped to have our bags checked by a bed bug sniffing dog (Patches from Winnipegdog.ca) and found out there was something in one of our bags. Had to throw out the suitcase but it could’ve been a whole lot worse. The resort itself was great but having bed bugs is completely unacceptable for a 5 star resort! Stay away!

We just spent a week at Barcelo PVR it was awesome. 5 star hotel with tons of fun and features. Lots of great food and plenty of choices. Staff very professional and friendly will meet your every need.

The Barcelo is a wonderful resort, not too big or crowded, wonderful staff, superb service and great selection of foods to keep everyone happy. We were traveling with two kids and the separate bedroom and bathroom in the standard room is a plus. The resort was impeccable and rooms spotless. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

This hotel would be great for a couple on their honeymoon. The facility is beautiful and very secluded. I felt safe, the food was great and all the serving staff was fabulous. The front desk staff were borderline rude very unprofessional. I’m certain that they never smiled. They refused to deal with me on two occasions. There is either a tower of speakers or a nightclub playing mariachi music loudly all night and early morning. It’s very difficult to sleep through. This is off the site and out of control of the hotel (I think). So, don’t stay in building 1. Apparently, building 2 is quieter.

This resort is great staff work hard and it has excellent service. Food is good and rooms are great. Only complaint is the lobby bar needs a update. The gym needs equipment that works. The lobby bar needs a change, new furniture. Nut it's definitely worth a visit.

This was the perfect resort for our family of 9 people. The facilities were great and the rooms were superb. The food at the buffet was fantastic although I cannot say that about the restaurants. Will return to the same resort in a heartbeat

Pros: My husband I had a great time and enjoyed all the amenities of the hotel. The hotel was clean, staff very friendly. Our room was nice and comfortable and kept clean. Cons: Only problem is that I got sick on the last night of our vacation, so not sure if it was the ice in the drink or the food. Also be wary of being caught by timeshare selling at the airport when you arrive -we were delayed with the timeshare pitch and took a taxi to our hotel instead.

The food at the buffet wasn’t great the restaurants were very good all in all a good trip but nothing spectacular the entertainment is really lacking if you go try and share whatever you can with the beach locals they really appreciate it 💕

The staff were all exceptionally friendly. Everything was organized timeously. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything we requested was handled promptly. The pool area was lovely. The rooms were cleaned properly. There was food for all types of taste buds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had the unfortunate room just over the bar that struck up with the live band at 10:00pm and closed down at 1:00am. Upon speaking to the front desk they were willing to move us to a room above the nightly entertainment room. Really!! The pillows on the beds were the worst I had ever slept on! The food was ok, not fantastic by any means! If you didn't tip the buffet table service staff right at the beginning you could sit and wait for water,coffee or other drinks for your entire meal! The resort grounds and pools were beautiful and well maintained! Not much of a beach to lay on, the waves got crazy later on during the day but the sand was amazing! It was a great family resort out of town so if your looking for nightlife this would not be the place for you! There was definite inconsistency when it came to service at the front desk! We needed a late checkout and other guests paid $50 USD for a late checkout while I paid nothing. No free WIFI! You had to be a Premiun Guest for WIFI, where is there not free WIFI?? It was a long ride on a windy road into town so if you want nightlife and hustle and bustle this is not the resort for you!

Pros...Beautiful resort with lots of pools. We loved our 2 bedroom suite, the baby crib that was delivered was perfect, the grounds, pools were awesome! We had to use medical for our sick baby and was promptly delivered via ambulance to the Puerto Vallarta Hospital which also had really great service. Cons... Loud music pounding until 6am, lots of parties for locals, one whole pool was used by the locals to party in until 6pm every day. I was expecting a family resort but the week we went it was a club environment.

Beautiful hotel. Staff were accommodating and fun. Food and drinks were amazing. Stunning view of mountains and ocean. Spa was so nice and well priced. Only negatives were there was no on site disco to go dancing,but there was a cantina bar with live music. The beach wasn't very nice, lots of sand fleas, small and rough water but all the gorgeous pools made up for it

staff was awesome from the maids,front desk especially Julius and Lucy at customer service.My sweetheart was the cook at the pool diner who served bbq pork. Location was short bus to town and the beach made for a nice daily walk with great views of the surrondering area

We enjoyed the resort. The room was spotless and the bed and bedding was fabulous. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The Spanish restaurant was good. The Japanese restaurant was very poor. The hostess was rude and you could smell rancid oil in the restaurant. The a la carte restaurant was pleasant for breakfast.

A beautiful resort 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. Staff was friendly and the food was okay. Would recommend to others just looking to relax by the pool as the beach was quite small. Lots of wildlife around.

We have found that staying at any Barceló resort, we have never been disappointed. This resort is located away from all other resorts(opposite side of the bay area in P.V.). Rooms(huge), food, pools great. Minimal beach area but ok. Just be mindful of the mosquitos. We encountered them which we determined on the balcony. Can't see these guys but they can bite. USE BUG SPRAY!!!!. The buffet was fine....loved the crepes @ breakfast!. The specialty restaurants (Spanish and Italian) were exceptional! We did not enjoy the Steak/Seafood due to bad service and food was not the best. We went once and didn't want to take a chance on a second time so stuck with the other 2 which we soooo good!!! We were there for 11 days and didn't have any issues with chairs (although there are those that must save with towels @ 4 am!!!) until near the end of our vacation when resort was 100 % occupied. Still had chairs but had to search. The worst thing still is people save chairs then you never see anyone use them in the "prime locations" So annoying!!! The staff was great in all areas and aspects. We did the premium upgrade which was worth it. A must do is the Rhythms of the Nights excursion. Worth every penny!!!

The staff certainly make this resort. They ALWAYS have a smile on their face and never say no even though they may not be able to help. Marisol(server @ LaCantina) and Antonio(snack bar bar) really stood out. I don't have anything negative to say, rooms are huge, beds are comfortable, food selection is great. This is a smaller resort so there is no nightclub and it is off the beaten path so it's quiet. Beach is smaller and the locals offer a bit of everything from seadoo's to private boats to snorkel in Los Arcos. Definitely would stay here again!

We recently travelled to the barcelo puerto Vallarta. We were pleased when we saw the rooms. By far the largest rooms I've been in, which is great when travelling with children. They had their own seperate space. The rooms were also renovated and very comfortable. The resort itself is well laid out and people are very friendly. However I would say the the resort, with exemption of the rooms is starting to show it's age. The hot tubs especially are starting to look dingy. All in all I would recommend this hotel, we had a great time.

Rooms were spacious and beautiful. Beach was private and clean. Swimable. The grounds were lush, tropical and well kept. Food was always good. We lived off the tacos by the beach. Excursions: go pet the baby tigers at the zoo (walkable from the resort), go swim with the dolphins (a twenty minute boat ride away).

This resort is out of the way, yet a cheap cab ride to the Romantic District.I had a suite with a large terrace overlooking the pool and the ocean. Great guests and staff a like. Lots of poolside activities for all ages .Walk down the beach and have refreshments with the locals.The night time entertainment does run a bit late and the buffet is limited due to small size of the hotel but the views and proximity to the ocean more than make up for it. I am no stranger to Barcelo Hotels and this one is high on my list.

The resort was beautiful. The restaurants especially "Don Quiote" Restaurant was 5 star. We never went hungry as there was wonderful food at every corner. I wasnt there long enough to sample everything. The pizza at "Los Arcos" was just like Famosa so good. The family suite was perfect for me and my two teens. The drive to Mismaloya was definately beautiful. Taking the bus to the Malecon was right outside our resort and was under a dollar for two to ride the bus. The people of Mexico are the friendliest. The only con was I didnt get my resort credits (only because I had to ask) and didnt have a chance to upgrade. I was only there for 4 nights. The spa was fantastic. I would definately go back.
