It was our first time at Melia and it is a wonderful resort. The location is perfect, you are about half way between downtown PV (to the south) and Bucerias / Punta Mita / Sayulita (to the north). It's ocean front is perfect, and just behind it you have the bustling Marina. The food was great, Especially at the restaurants you have to make reservations for. There were no lineups, not crowded at all. Love the pool! It has zero entry almost all the way round. We went with our young kids and the bunkbeds were a wonderful touch.

The hotel grounds were lovely, room comfortable, very clean. What brought the rating down in my estimation was the food. Very little variety and not great quality. The restaurants were a disappointment. We have been to Mexico several times and this was by far the most disappointing when it came to food.

Grounds were nice. Rooms are very outdated, pictures online are not what you're getting. Need more food options, buffet was the same thing on repeat and only 2 other restaurants. Expected more. Area was nice, short walk to the marina.

Service was amazing, food was wonderful, room and grounds were always clean. Thanks Manuela at tripcentral for her care and attention to all the details in our booking. We really appreciated it and will use her for all our travel services.

Cleanliness around the whole resort was outstanding. Rooms could do with some upgrading but were clean. Buffet was great. We wished there were more selections for a la carte restaurants or have some American type choices on the menu that you didn’t have to pay extra for. Staff was amazing especially the bar tenders and waiters (Edgardo) (Diana)who worked tirelessly to keep up to the busyness. Entertainment was okay but not great. Singers in the lounge were amazing . Front desk people were pleasant.. 5 stars to Hector who was so accommodating and did everything he could to make our vacation a positive one !!

We were assigned a room on the less than desirable first floor that reeked of mold. The patio door lock was shaky, no bathtub and the beds were hard. The “view” was a patch of grass. After a very uncomfortable night we requested a new room and Hector, Melia’s magnificent desk manager took great care of us, moving us to a higher room with king bed and partial ocean view. However, after that first night inhaling mold spores, I developed a horrible chronic cough that lasted for the rest of my stay then miraculously disappeared when I arrived back home. Other than that we were very impressed with the food, drinks, service and facilities. They could do something about the lounge chair saving thing though. Towels were out reserving groups of chairs VERY early every single morning of our 10 day stay.

Grounds were well kept clean there were people out daily cleaning. Pool area has a lot of tiles that need replaced. Food was pretty good for the most part (Al a carte mediocre). Rooms were clean but need updating they had double beds (and we had 3 adults) and bunk beds with no blankets. Had one very rude staff member when calling to the desk but the rest of staff was nice. Our sliding door did not lock so it had to be repaired but still had a gap (it was the person I talked to about this who was very rude) Entire hotel needs upgrades!

Go to greece for the same price. Daycare aka seeds club needs a good cleaning like toys walls floors. Gates need to be closed. Rooms smell of mold cause walls and roof have mold spurs even curtains. AC needs to be cleaned i even brought air purifier and still smelt the whole week. Got a spider bite. Tiny ants on beds. Just don’t

The food had a good variety and was delicious especially moles and tacos. They have nice little extras like room service for barely any charge, waiter service on the beach, providing extras for room quickly if asked, and good front door service where the men remember you and come find you when your ride is ready. The rooms are not accurately photographed- they seem quite a bit older in person than the pic that’s on their website. I was happy with my room though, maid service cleaned very well. There is a small minibar with pops and beer that is restocked everyday. This is really a family resort, I went on my vacation alone. I like kids so it didn’t bother me but I found it made it hard to meet other people as everyone was part of a family or huge extended family. There are many activities for the kids like a day camp so parents can also relax and the activities were interesting and different. The beach is smaller but still beautiful. There are only a certain amount of beach chairs so I couldn’t get a beach chair for the first 2 days I was there bc everyone saves a chair early in the morning by putting a towel on it then walks away for several hours…so I started doing that too, reserving my chair, going to breakfast then returning to the beach and staying with chair I think they should make a policy that you can’t reserve a chair unless you are on the beach or maybe have additional foldable chairs we can borrow if all the chairs are taken.

Nice location the resort is located, however the rooms are very much of a run down overall. The bars are absolutely a mess Entertainment was good, the lobby normally is always a vibrant place, this was dead.

A bit aged, but the grounds are impressive, huge pool area, friendly service and activity staff, nice beach area. We had 2 separate leaks in our room during our stay (fixed) and there are only 2 outlets in the room, not ideal.

The resort was very run down and out dated. The room door could not be locked. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the mirror would stay fogged up all day. The beds were uncomfortable. The food was not good anywhere in the resort. It was cold and tasteless with little variety. We ate mostly of the resort. The entertainment was very unprofessional and not entertaining. The beach was very rough. All of the pool side chairs were reserved by 8 am and the pool was in need of repair. The best part was when we checked out. The desk clerk told me that I was to come down at 11 to catch my ride to the airport and that there would be a Transat rep there to help us. We came down at 10:30 and there was no rep. The clerk told us to sit and wait and they would get us when the bus came. At 11:10 I asked where the bus was and was told that it had left at ,10:30. With our flight leaving at 12:30, we got a cab to take us to an ATM machine on the way to the airport. When we got there we were told that we would have to catch the next flight out on Thursday. After talking to the gate attendant, we were told that if we run all the way to the gate, we can board the plane. We then found out that there was no boarding pass issued for Gail. After we made it through the metal detectors, we got on board and realized that we were missing one passport. Once we arrived in Toronto, customs told me to go to the Transat desk and have them call PV to locate my passport. The girl at the desk was too busy texting on her phone and handed me a card with customer service number and told me to call them. So other than that. The trip was ok

I would rate this hotel as OK. I would stay there again only if better hotels were too expensive. The hotel is dated and tired. It is clean enough but in my opinion needs to be gutted and redone. The hotel has a great location right on the beach and a very short walk to Marina Vallarta. The room is clean and had an amazing view of the pool, beach, ocean and mountains. The food in the buffets is actually pretty good with a different food theme each night. The two restaurants have way fewer reservations available then they will handle for some reason. The food in the restaurants is also pretty good. Some really good choices and some not so good choices. The service all in all is good but we had to wait at times for drinks at the buffets. The service in the restaurants is excellent. The hot water is also spotty. Sometimes you have nice hot water and sometimes you don't. We made it work but it could have been better. They have a lot of activities and shows most nights. The facilities for the activities are also tired and need to be replaced. For instance, the mini put has many creases in the greens and frankly were unusable. They play loud music at the pool and bar all day and night. This is probably typical for all hotels in PV I would think. If you want to get to sleep before midnight, bring good ear plugs. If you into pickle ball they have eight courts on property put into two tennis courts. I have no idea how you sign up for this as we don't play. PV itself is all and all a wonderful place to visit. The weather in January was perfect for us. Cool night and mornings and warm afternoons. There is also lots to do. Go whale watching if you can as it was amazing. Don't book with the people on the beach though. Go through a reputable tour company. Vallarta Tours is the most prevalent one.

The staff are awesome! The location of the hotel was great. Certainly appreciated all the Christmas activities for kids. The food was good. The hotel was a little dated but clean. One downside is that there were often not enough pool chairs and loungers.

We had a great time at this resort. Antonio helped us with a small room issue right away and this made a huge difference. Alberto and Alfredo provided extra attention and wonderful smiles. There is plenty of space to lounge unless it's Sunday which opens to locals. It was nice to see the families enjoying themselves but it would be a good idea to add extra cleaning staff for the washrooms near the beach on Sundays. The Mexican food was delicious but the meat at the Italian restaurant was sub par. The Christmas decorations and evening lighting along with covered walkways were a nice touch. A great location and easy to walk to the Marina. Fun trip!

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful! Could use an adult pool. A very family friendly resort so definitely could use a 2nd pool! Need a couple of better a la carte restaurants.

No where near a 4* - hotel old and in need if complete refurbishment, Food was not very good - same dishes every day, primarily Mexican fare with little variety I've never been to a breakfast buffet where you cannot even get bacon. Drinks very little to offer and ran out of something or other every day. No mojito, one day no tonic for a gin and tonic the next, and so it went on. Not enough chairs around the pool, beach not cleaned up

Milea is a amazing resort. So much variety in food. La carte palapa and Mexican restaurants were vey good international and national drinks are available and soft drinks too. Most of all people were so nice and always keep you happy. Location is very very good so close to marina and airport.

Great staff, food, drinks and very clean. Views are stunning. Could use more lounge chairs and definitely more hand sanitizers outside elevators and throughout resort. Is there a discount for repeat guests?

The resort is relatively small which we liked. The pool is large and the beach is nice too. It does get very busy at the pool (obviously) and sometimes there is not enough chairs to go round. I would have liked a separate adults only section as there were a lot of children there and the pool was large enough to have separate areas. The rooms are spacious with balcony and the bathroom is also very large. The shower was powerful and shampoo, condition and shower gel are provided. My favourite part is the towels are a proper size, a good size bath sheet not one of the silly towels you get usually in a hotel which barely fits round me! So that alone is worth 5 stars! The staff are all super nice and friendly. Aqua aerobics in the pool with Sergio and Charlie every day was great fun. And Juan doing the beach drinks was very sweet. The food was very inconsistent but there was plenty of it, so you won’t go hungry. Coffee is nice and juices and a good selection of baked goods. Nightly entertainment was good, we went to a great magic show. The resort was quiet from about 11pm which suited us.

Very friendly staff slightly makes up for poor supervision and management. Wine list changed but no list or knowledge of what was available. Speciality restaurants were inconsistent and made the decision to go off site on our last night an easy one. Great beach but not enough loungers for everyone.

There were a lot of small issues that show this resort needs some repairs, my disappointment came from Air Canada vacations. Our flight was Tuesday and was delayed about 3 hours prior to pick up, then again about 2 hours prior to pick up. Approx one hour prior to pick up we received an email to say the flight was cancelled. The rep made some inquiries for us and we were picked up at the scheduled time and delivered to the airport. We waited in line for about 3 hours at the airport for another air Canada vacations rep. She gave each of us a voucher for the Beuventura Grand for the night and shuttled there. We were picked up again the next morning at 09:30 for delivery back to the airport. We were then put on a flight to Toronto (our destination was Calgary and was originally direct) we flew to Toronto then on another flight back to Calgary. Needless to say, it was an exhausting couple of days with no explanation whatsoever about what was happening.

Hotel was in a very nice and safe area especially for walking to the marina watching the boats come and go including the cruise ships. The 2 specialty restaurants were good, but the buffet had a very repetitive menu. Beach area was small and had several people selling their wares. Room was clean and the service was very good. The restaurants were using hand sanitizers and disinfectant for cleaning the tables, also sanitizing was available in the elevator, social distancing and masks were recommended but very few people actually wore masks.

We have stayed ar 3 other Melia resorts and this one was definitely our least favorite. Had a few issues without room. Breakfast and lunch buffet wasn't too bad but dinner wasn't so good. Location is great!

We really enjoyed our 1 week stay at this hotel. Check in was a breeze and our rooms were ready when we arrived at 1pm. Rooms were very clean but a tad outdated. The hotel has a very good lay out. The A La Carte Restaurants were very easy to find since they were close together and the pool area was situated in the center of lunch restaurant and bars. The beach was very nice but the people walking by every 5 min to sell stuff got a little annoying after a while. The Melia also had someone on the beach taking drink orders constantly which was very convenient. We also went to the spa for a massage. Love the spa area. It's like a hidden little world on its own. As for the food, I would give it a 4 out of 5. Italian was the BEST A La Carte place and the buffet had a good selection of breakfast and dinner options. Would definitely recommend this resort.

The hotel was a quaint resort which I enjoyed. I loved the family atmosphere. I found a couple of the nights quite loud but not over bearing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As a single woman I was very comfortable at the Melia

The staff go out of their way to make your holiday perfect. The rooms were clean and the grounds were well kept. The entertainment was great. There was always something going on, archery, ping pong, volleyball, water aerobics, mini put, rock wall climbing and assorted pool games.The waiters actually run to serve you. The food was great and the sunsets fabulous. I had a great time.

Service people are friendly & work hard. Food was fairly good but a lot of it I couldn’t or wouldn’t eat. Signage was missing at times especially to indicate if the food contained seafood. Pool bathrooms are kept clean but hotel rooms need a thorough cleaning as do all of the surfaces around the pool and the wrought iron tables/placemats in the main buffet. Too often found dishes/glasses/cutlery that was supposed to be “clean” wasn’t. :(

We loved the Mexican theme..food, decor, artwork, etc..wanted to experience the Mexican style not a cookie cutter hotel. All the staff were amazing and very helpful about tours, wheelchairs, iPad assistance!

We found everything about the grounds interesting and so clean; it was great to be able to just sit on a bench in the lush gardens between the trees and watch the birds fly by, see the turtles among the gold fish, enjoy the various flowers. The pool was so clean at all times. The service from the staff was excellent, always very friendly and accommodating . The food was plentiful and well prepared, the a la carte restaurants had varied menus, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were plentiful. The room was more than adequate with a great view. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable and very professional. Due to health problems, this was our first southern trip in a few years and it was a very happy experience - we hopefully will return soon.

Clean. Friendly staff. Good service. Lots of fun activities to do. The food is good. Location is nice. Geared to Families and middle aged to older people. Close to airport and Marina. Short bus ride to town or 9 dollar taxi ride. Very safe area. Felt secure and safe.

As a family trip we really enjoyed this resort it was not to big not to small just a nice size, food was good, service was good? We would stay here again and recommend it. The only little disappointment was we notified them that it was a special Anniversary but it was not acknowledged.

If you have a family this is the resort to go to. As a single mom bringing my 2 kids ages 3 and 13, there was something for each of them to do, all of the time! My 3 year old LOVED the kids club. Isabel and Keren in the kids club were helpful and knowledgeable, and the kids loved being with them. Food was great! No matter which restaurant you went to there was something there for each one of us. Overall we always felt safe at this resort, and I never felt pressured to purchase or do anything we didn't want to do. We will be back.

The food was boring and very disappointing. Our package included 3 al la carte restaurants, after trying 2 we didn't even bother booking the 3rd. We were there for a week and after day 2 we went to town or the marina to eat all of our meals. The staff at the hotel (cleaning, pool,restaurants) was excellent the check in staff was good. The room was clean but the air conditioning could not keep up and therefore uncomfortable for sleeping. The pool was unusable for almost everyone in the resort because of the cold temperature, the staff would not even enter the pool for aerobics and other activities. The resort was clean and the grounds well maintained.

Loved the location of this hotel. My husband and I like to explore outside of the resort and found the location of this hotel to be perfect. We were able to walk across the street to the Marina where there was a variety of restaurants and shops and about a 15 minute cab or bus ride from the city. The hotel and our room was very clean and the service was excellent. We had a beautiful ocean and mountain view and we were able to watch the cruise ships sail in and out of the Marina. I was a bit disappointed with the food variety and options.

We recently returned from a stay at the Melia PV. We had an upgraded room (Ocean front) which was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, and it was extremely quiet. It had probably been renovated as there was no sign of it being dated at all. The buffet was fairly good. the selection was very limited, but what was offered was very tasty. It wasn't the usual bland, buffet food, but had nice flavor, use of herbs and spices, etc. There were simple things missing like jam, cheese for breakfast, but we always found something good to eat. We only ate at the lunch restaurant twice: they had great selection and a really good pizza selection (fresh and lovely crust). The staff were very helpful for the most part and we had no issues. The bar tenders at the lobby bar were very friendly and the staff providing service around the pool were quick and courteous. The clientele was extensively families with young kids, as it has a kids club. Made it fairly 'screamy' at the pool. The other half seemed to be fairly senior. We saw very few people in our age range (early 50's) and English. This hotel is in the Marina zone and very handy to shopping. You can pick up a city bus just outside the hotel. The buses are frequent but bring your ear plugs as they are very noisy! Beaches in PV are okay but no one really swims in the ocean as it apparently has a lot of under tows.

The hotel was not what I was expecting. It is family oriented and very child friendly which iwould have been awesome if I was travelling with my family. The staff was incredible. They were very friendly and not smug like the staff in Cuba. The hotel is nice but could use a lift and a good cleaning. The food was good and plentiful but not exceptional. The fancy drinks like margaritas were made with syrup instead of fresh fruit. Not sure why. I would recommend this hotel to families that are travelling together. They have buffets, bathrooms, play areas and so much more for children. I wouldn't recommend this place for adults only.

This property is in need of a renovation. The being said, the food and drinks were good, and the service was exceptional. We enjoyed some of the best evening entertainment I've ever seen in Mexico. Good central location with awesome sunsets. Viva Mexico!

Just back from a week at This Melia. We really enjoy this resort, it was not too big which is what we as a seniior couple like. Absolutely no complaints about the staff, the manager, or the lovely doctor on site who had to come and administer to me for a problem, which wasn't serious i might add. The location couldn't be better, near a lovely marina and close to the local bus. A bonus was the proximity to the airport. The beach is not huge and we did not go in the ocean as it was quite windy and choppy. Then pool is huge and not too cold. Overall, the place is very clean and the a la carte restaurants very good.

We have stayed at the Melia before so we knew it would be a great week! Only complaint is the Wifi in the lobby - REALLY BAD! No email - no skype and very slow if anything on the internet. So leave your computer at home and enjoy this lovely resort!

The grounds were nice. The food was terrible and lacked choice. My daughter was sick almost the entire trip from the food. The Dr said it was from contaminated food. I would never recommend this hotel or return!

Very nice smaller resort. The grounds are beautiful and deluxe ocean view room was very nice with lots of room and gorgeous view from the sixth floor. I've been to many all inclusives and the food here was some of the best I have eaten, everything very tasty and kept hot. Even sushi was available at the pool lunch buffet along with some of the best pizza I've ever eaten, especially the ham pineapple, delicious! Drinks were also good, especially the mojitos and had no problem asking for and getting top shelf liquor. Service was excellent and everything kept very clean, no bugs at all. We did not experience any harassment from time share reps as was mentioned in some of the reviews I read. All in all, had a great vacation and would definitely go back again!

The resort was beautiful, well maintained. My room had a very musty smell about it. Was mentioned 3 times never taken care of. As for all inclusive not so had to pay for: Mini golf, trampoline, coffee bar, some foods off the menu. Buffet was almost exactly the same every night. The items listed as all inclusive where in fact mostly for the younger children or events you had to pay for. As a whole not overly impressed.

Great trip for our family! They welcomed us with free shirts and hats for the kids. Each day our kids visited the kids club for a few hours. And they loved it there! Jessica was awesome and they made so many high quality crafts that were excellent souvenirs. Plus Lala and Regina were wonderful with our 1 year (he stayed with them 3 hours each day for naps plus babysitting one night when we wanted to stay out later). The restaurants and buffets had great variety. Our Kid and Co room was perfect for our family of 5, although next time we might upgrade to a suite so that we have more adult privacy! :) The activities by the pool (games led by Raul and Christian) were fun - we won twice!! And the music and shows were great too. Only thing they need to improve on is timing of kids show - 9pm was too late! and Lunch in the nicer restaurant starts at 1pm but my kids were starving by 12noon! We plan to visit again and try another Melia if it has the same high quality kids activities.

This is the 2nd time that we have vacationed at this resort as a family and we will be back again! It is very family friendly and our 3 boys loved it too! We also have friends in Peurto Vallarta and we appreciate being able to spend time with them on the resort by purchasing a day pass for them to swim and have dinner together. The rooms are clean and well kept and up to date, however I would suggest that they upgrade the double bed to a queen bed in the Deluxe room . Last time we were lucky enough to have a the family adjoining suites which we loved so that the kids had their own shower and bedroom. The staff are always friendly and courteous and we were impressed that many of them remembered us from one year to the next. The service was good and the food is tasty and there is something for everyone. There always seems to be a place to sit and relax by the pool and the activities are interesting and fun if you want to be involved, but not intrusive if you would rather sit and read a book. A well balanced place to stay. We also enjoy the location of the Melia as it is close to the downtown area and a short cab or bus ride to shopping, the Marina or just a walk on the Malecon. We look forward to another awesome vacation at the Melia in Puerto Vallarta, MEXICO in 2015!

We loved the pool and the fact that you could swim later into the evening. The buffet's had a great variety of good foods. We wished that the room service was covered in our package, as well as a few other little things. The rooms could have also been a bit cleaner and more modern.

We stayed at the Melia resort in puerto Vallarta and it was outstanding. Great family resort with lots of activities for the little ones. It's also not a far cab ride to the centre of town where all the action is. The staff were wonderful and there was no shortage of food throughout the day. We would gladly go back!!
