The hotel has lovely rooms with stunning views, and fabulous common areas on the main floor and pool levels. The buffet dining rooms were well appointed with a good selection of food from Mexico and theme nights throughout the week. The coffee shop/ice cream bar was appreciated as well. The grounds of the hotel are very limited, with no real space to walk outdoors, as the hotel is built into the escarpment with very little space for gardens and walkways. The beach is beautiful but small and was too rough to use most of the week we were there. Definitely not suitable for small children. Luckily a children’s pool with slides and water play was situated in a courtyard on the second level. The two main pools are situated in such a way that they were in full shade until afternoon, which was disappointing for the sun seekers in our group. And on a logistics note, the location of this hotel is about an hour’s drive from the airport, taking a little longer with drop offs from the shuttle along the way. At the end of our week, we had the shuttle to ourselves and it took 45-50 minutes. In the descriptions we read before travelling the time from the airport was listed as 30 minutes or less.

This is not a luxury resort by any means. Rooms are ok and could use updating. Most of the staff was very pleasant. No sun until late afternoon around pool decks which meant pools did not get sun to help warm them as they were freezing cold. Buffet food was always cold and a la cart restaurants were very mediocre at best. The drinks were not very good either. Way too many children at this resort and they were very noisy. Daily and nightly entertainment was excessively loud and very disturbing especially into the evening when many people were looking to go to sleep or have a quiet night. We loved Puerto Vallarta but will never return to this resort ever.

While this hotel is situated on a lovely beach I cannot recommend staying there for a number of reasons, the first of which is no fault of the resort. The location and geography meant that the sun does not hit the beach until noon this time of year, and the pools even later. The rooms themselves are pleasant enough, but older and poorly maintained i.e. blocked shower drain, broken lampshades (with blood splatter), etc. Housekeeping seemed to come either too early (8:30 am) or too late in the day (5:30 pm) and wasn't particularly thorough. The food at the lunch buffet was low quality and poorly prepared. The 3 a la carte restaurants were better, but the menu never changes. The resort is popular for weddings (3 in 11 days). The resort is relatively small so access was denied to portions of the beach and other facilities during these events (despite the fact you paid for access to the entire resort). It also means a lot of noise directly in front of the rooms for setup, the event and tear-down. It is also popular with families and there are lots of kids everywhere, including in both main pools (which are cold). This is despite the fact that there is a separate kid's pool. In short, don't do it - you can find better.

The chairs at the pool made feel we were on the beach ! So clean , so friendly great food . every room has a Ocean view ! Beautiful huge balconey. Bus right out side hotel !Thanks so much one and all for make our trip wonder . I am using a cane and there is nowhere I could not go !

The grounds were very well kept. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were amazing, so friendly!! The food was delicious and the a la cartes you didn’t have to reserve which was awesome. The beach was clean and well kept and the ocean was clean. Smaller beach as the resort is smaller, but it was extremely relaxing and overall a wonderful time. If you’re looking for sun the entire day in the beach/poolside you won’t get it until about noon because of how the building is situated and where the sun rises. Also note that no alcohol is served until 11am(no Baileys in your coffee). Would definitely recommend this resort.

The staff at Grand Park Royal where amazing especially Miguel at the pool and beach and no one can forget Fernando in the lobby bar never at a better bartender he will make your day thanks to all the staff and don't forget to try the fish tacos at lunch time in the seafood restaurant they are to die for

We stayed at the Grand Park Royal for 1 week , it was a wonderful stay . You are a short 15 min bus ride for 10 pesos to get into downtown PV , or a taxi if you so wish. The bus stop is just outside the hotel and you can also catch the bus to go to Mismaloya or Boca. The hotel is a small hotel which was very clean the rooms were amazing , large , mini fridge stocked daily for free , one free room service daily as well , the food always showed up quickly and delicious. The views are amazing , we spotted turtles and whales from our deck. The waves dependent on the weather can be large or small, but enjoyable to listen to ..( listen is why we wanted ocean front , otherwise we would of stayed in PV if we didn’t want to listen to the waves) . The food was always fresh and there was always lots to choose from. The coffee and dessert bar was great ! The snack bar at the bar was a regular pool snack bar with hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos and cheese.everything being cooked fresh . All the eating areas were confined under glass wall , this was great to keep the food clean and away from flies. It did seem that the pool lounge chairs did get covered with towels regularly , we are not pool people so it did not bother us. There were many other spots around the hotel to watch the ocean ,( including the balcony in the room). We found all the employees at the hotel very friendly and helpful, from Hector the bell boy to Izzy at the front desk , all very helpful. If you want a smaller hotel with a location away from the hustle and bustle of PV but close enough to get into PV very easily this is it.
