We had booked to stay at Lis Galeanos, which we had loved in a past visit. On arrival however we found we were transferred to the sister resort ‘Sierra Mar’ while Galeanos under went renovations. We didn’t really want a big resort but found Sierra Mar quite pleasant, like Cuba in general the people were friendly and warm, the beach was fantastic, there was lots to do, there was a small town nearby to explore…. Cuba is still rebounding from the pandemic, there were only 28 people at our gorgeous resort of 100 rooms. The airport in San Diego is not taking flights right now. We had to travel from Holguin which was a trek but it meant we were off the beaten path- we loved that.

Some people very unhappy about the sudden change, was there from Nov 28 to December 12, hotel is not ready, lack of everything including tourists, will not return until things improve a lot, employees do their best with what they have but for the price paid, not worth it, use Holguin airport and bus people for 4 hours after to get there, loose the first and last day travelling to and from airport

My original booking for a December 2022 holiday at the hotel Brisas Los Galeones was cancelled by HolaSun. Sadly the hotel was not open at this time. I am hopeful that this beautiful hotel will be available for international tourism in the near future as it was a favourite among many of us and really nothing can compare. Brisas Guardalavaca was offered as an alternative and it was nice if not as tranquil. Thank you Cuba for being such gracious hosts especially in these continuing turbulent times.

This is the second time we have been to Los Galeones. If you want to party all the time, this place might not be for you. If you want a quiet place with friendly staff beautiful weather and a great chance to make life long friends, This is a great place. It is not a new Resort but very clean. The food was always plentiful and good tasting, they even BBQ’D a whole pig one night. The staff are amazing, they really look after you well. When we returned this year they greet you like long lost friends. There are goats that come every day for a visit and a drink. The place is fantastic if you just want to relax. The climb down to the beach is not as hard as the climb back up ( 300 steps) but most people can do it and spend a lovely day by the sea with a made to order lunch if you wish, a bar, shower and washroom facilities. Most people who come here return year after year, we might too.

This resort is worth the visit. Set on the top of a hill overlooking the town of Chivirico and the ocean. The views from any rooms are breathtaking. Goats will visit and drink from the pool on occasion. Food is exceptional!! Very clean resort. The staff will accommodate your needs,,,,,just have to ask. Take a flashlight with you and walk down the hill after dinner and visit the town of Chivirico.

This hotel provided a picturesque view of the ocean and town of Chivirico. Pool is extremely well kept and sparkling clean. The food was the best surprise!! It was like having your own personal chef at each meal. Staff are exceptional. Would book this resort over and over again.

Just got back from one week there. Regret it was not two week stay. Very relaxing. Food very good, not much selection but what is served is delicious. Very friendly staff. Made lots of new friends. Beach worth the climb all those stairs. Excellent bar at the beach, with full lunch served daily, no problem finding long chair and shade, great swimming and snorkeling. All this makes you stay at the beach all day. Nearby village very nice and friendly. Cuban music every night. After many stays at various resorts in Cubs, first time we want to come back for another stay and we will bring friends with us.

We just returned from a 2 week trip to Brisas Los Galeones. It has been 3 years since our last visit there. Some improvements are gradually being made to the resort ...new Westinghouse remote controlled air conditions, and new sinks in the bathrooms. As always we thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks and were warmly welcomed back by the staff. With only 32 rooms at the resort you will quickly meet all of the other guests and have new friends by the time you head home. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Views are amazing.

It was my 5th time at Galeones...not a resort for everyone perhaps but it is laid back, quiet, and the local music is good as are the people. The Beach is 293 steps down the hill so be a little fit before you come. There are no bad rooms. The views are all good and the rooms are all the same. People have their preferences after a while. You can't reserve but you can hope! The food is fine, actually very good for me. Not in the middle of nowhere with Chivirico right there at the bottom of the hill. Be prepared for a culture shock. We have so much and they don't.

I know the place and the people working in the Hotel, if I keep going there, I must like it. Sometimes there are few (very few) unfriendly guests but we are all different, after all for them maybe I am the undesirable one. Viva Fidel, Viva Cuba.

Much cleaner and comfortable then average Cuban resort,very quite with friendly stuff probably most scenic view around then any other resort in Cuba Beautiful beach, very nice guests, may be too quite for some vacationers

My Husband and I have been to various ( i.e. 4 ) resorts in Cuba in the past and this was one of our favourites to date. Every room appears to be ocean view even ones that say garden view. The 300 stairs to the beach mean the views are lovely. The beach is a sandy cove though the swimming is a bit stony so shoe wear helps......lunch is served there so literally it is just one trek up and down per day though obviously not for the disabled. The staff are friendly as are the guests who because it is a small resort many appear come back for years. It is not for those that wish to have a 'wild' nightlife however suited us to the 't.' We took one day trip in an old 1952 taxi into Santiago and visited Castro's grave and the Cathedral on the hill overlooking Santiago. The changing of the guard was a bonus & happens every few hours I presume.

The resort itself was well kept, clean. The town itself boasts amazing views and wonderful people. The food and amenities were okay. But what makes this place special was the scenery and the people

2018 January 10-17th - My 4th trip to Cuba and this resort. Other trips were in 09,10, and 2011. Many of the same people were there: both guests and workers. It is small and "homey". Not exactly roughing it as the rooms have vaulted ceilings, nice large balconies and views, but this place is not high end. I go for the views OMG, mountains and sea and lagoon, and sunsets. The beach is picturesque with shade trees when you need to get out of the sun, and a lovely "small" bar/resaurant right there with a real wood fired BBQ. Be prepared for the 293 steps up to the resort. Oh yes. Benches offer a place to rest half way up. I am almost 70 and had no problem but the resort is built on top of a high hill the sticks out into the ocean. Watch for the strong undertow if you snorkel. I went out too far and had quite a time getting back in one day. Alert the life guard if you are going out. The music is fantastic and varied and of very high caliber. The 100 and 200 blocks face south and are furthest away from the "centre" of the resort so have the quietest rooms. Sunsets are seen from the 300 and a little from the 200 blocks. North views from the 400 and 500 blocks have additional views of Chivirico, the town at the bottom of the hill, and the ocean lagoon and the beautiful mountains. Can't go wrong. No wonder there are so many repeaters. It will be difficult for me to go somewhere else but I know I should.....

Wonderful place for a quiet getaway but rates have been too high lately. Clearly people are not booking, as there were only about 8 guests at the resort during our most recent stay. It is a small place but this is not a good sign. For a peaceful, off the beaten track oasis without great beach for swimming, rates need to be more reasonable to compensate. There used to be more long-stay guests as well as us short-stay but apparently they tripled the rate and lost nearly all of them. Wish they would just do what they do best, at a reasonable rate.

We spent 1 wk in Nov 17, unfortunately it rained 3 days out of 6, we visited Chivirico, small village at 5he bottom of the hill, also to get to small beach, walk down 291 steps, very steep incline, food just so so, service great, rooms very clean, from Los Galeones, there is a shuttle to sister hotel (9am to 5pm) lunch on site available either at beach restaurant or at buffet on 4th floor, there is a better beach, larger pool. I don’t think I would return as not very much activity available.

Small, intimate gem in Cuba! Wonderful and friendly staff who go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Unusual array of entertainment from the cats, goats, chickens, lizards and iguanas! Will definitely return again and again to this resort.

Just back from another great stay in Los Galeones for the 21st time. This is a unique boutique hotel in Guama province 74K west of Santiago. Only 32 rooms, adult only, a great place for a quiet holiday.Not for the mobility challenged as the great little snorkelling beach is 296 steps down the hill. However, the facilities and pool above are well maintained, absent the odd power failure and occasional water shortage, not unusual for Cuba. The food is great, the staff are wonderful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and guests, most of whom are long time repeaters, are very sociable. What more could you want? it's Cuba's best kept secret.

Truly great staff and manager Eddie is awesome. Good food, Lovely and tranquil atmosphere. Great place for a very quiet, relaxing vacation. Small resort, so you will have opportunity to get to know the staff and some other fellow travellers. Mostly quiet, book-reading or hiking/cycling folks who are interesting to meet and who enjoy this truly intimate setting. View of mountains and sea all around is lovely. Nice little restaurant at the bottom of the mountain is great if you need a change of scenery. Evenings great musicians come up from the village to sing during dinner. The beauty of eating outside and listening to local Cuban music with no amplification is truly heavenly! NOT a party place, not suitable for those who need any activities to be provided or looking for any nightlife. One tiny backyard-sized pool, one small 8' bar, one small dining room. 34 rooms in 5 one-storey blocks. Period. The whole resort sits on maybe 2 acres total at the top of the little mountain. Steep climb down nearly 300 cement stairs to the very small beach with lots of big rocks scattered in the water, frequent red flags and strong current/undertow. Some little tide pools to sit in are nice. Some folks manage to snorkel a bit, but this beach has some really serious limitations for swimmers. Super steep hill down to the village, means being very mobile/fit or arranging a cab for 3CUC each way. Not anything at all for tourists in that village, though it is nice to walk around and see how the Cuban people live. Rooms are quite nice but mattresses a bit hard or lumpy. Sometimes the water goes off, sometimes for a few days at a time and people flush their toilets with water bucketed from the pool. Staff do their best with repairs. A place ONLY for the easy-going and adaptable! This is the kind of place you either love and find charming and endearing, or you are bored, dissatisfied, disappointed and swear never to return to again. Not much reaction in the middle it seems. So consider carefully before booking here. It really isn't for everyone.

We enjoyed our stay at Los Galeones. This 30i(sh) room hotel is old but clean, located on top of a hill overlooking the ocean or a Bay on 3 of the 4 sides. It appeared to me that all rooms had a view of the ocean. I was in room 104, it is located over the driveway coming up to the resort, it was a very quiet spot with a very nice view. (see my pictures from the balcony). Staff members were great; service was excellent. Food Breakfast is good. a selection of fruit, cheese, cold cuts, bacon/sausage, eggs, toast etc, with a cook for omelets made from your selection of ingredients. Lunch is great! A-la-carte at the restaurant or around the pool area. good selection, everything I tried was tasty. Lunch is also served at the beach bar (check my 'beach' section) Supper is served a-la-carte either in the dining room or our in the pool area, similar to lunch. Everything I ordered was delicious! Beach going down the 290 steps to the beach is worth the walk. beautiful spot, very quiet and never busy at all. there is a beach bar here that serves drinks (including bottled beer) and also serves lunch. Lunch here is delicious, Meat (chicken, porc, ribs) cooked over a wood fire grill. Delicious BBQ is served at 1pm. The Bad -bathroom was very dated with broken tiles and various damaged items, shower head was barely able to shoot water due to calcium build up. I don't consider myself picky by any means, but this bathroom was a let down. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. I was in room 104 -The water supply comes from the small town near the hotel. there was a problem at the pumping station, we went 2/7 days with absolutely no running water at all. If it wasn't for the washroom and the lack of water for 2 days I would have definitely given this place a 5/5. We paid 688$ all in and it was definitely worth it

Brisas Los Gallons (spell check won't recognise the proper spelling) is a very beautiful place, with gorgeous views all around. That being said, it is not for everyone's liking. If you get bored easily you have to make your own entertainment, be it the beach, or side trips or the nearby town. It is an excellent place to get away from the crowds and peddlers that typically are found at resorts. Instead you are adopted into a community. Allow me to explain. First the resort; there are so few rooms you get to know the local knowledge quickly and get to know the staff and guests in short order. When the staff are busy it is typical that the guest clear their own tables and sometimes are behind the bar serving themselves. Like I said you are adopted and with that are some responsibilities and privileges. Next the town; not a typical tourist town. We mentioned we were looking for guava and people would stop us on the street and give us fruit. Twice we came back with more than we left with as a gift! Locals are more than happy to show you places you are looking for without any expectation of reward. At the local market we ordered a drink from the vendor trying to support the local economy and it was explained that it may not be safe for visitors as we are not use to the water it was made from. They would rather lose a sale than jeopardize your vacation. The town is not based on the tourists so you will see true Cuban culture. The Cuban people are the reason we keep coming back not the resort lifestyle. The beach: before you go anywhere you have to realize you have to climb back up, either by stairs (almost 300) or the road, which is just as high. At the beach there is a bar and serves you lunch. If you stay at the resort up top , you get an a la carte of soup and sandwiches. At the beach it is BBQ chicken pork and fish. Orlando and the guys do a great job. The snorkelling is good lots of fish but if it is rough not for the beginner. If you are a good swimmer you can go past the reef where the depths are much deeper.(I went but the water was churned up and couldn't see much) To conclude, there is something at this resort that keeps you coming back. It isn't the facilities but more the atmosphere. If you has children or want to party this is not the place for you, but if you want to experience Cuban lifestyle and relax by all means try this resort.

Friendly staff make this resort truly special. Guests feel very comfortable and secure in this environment! The views make for spectacular photographs. Admittedly, the almost 300 steps down to the beach seemed daunting at first but take them...it's well worth it!. Walking into the near by village, you do feel that you get a rare glimpse into the heart of real Cuba.

There are many reviews at this site. And all of them seems to be true. November 2-9 2016, One more Observation The weather was fine, not too hot (around 30C) and sunny enough. Two days were windy. Breakfast buffet was somehow better than you can expect from three stars, Cuba. Lunch and dinner were à la carte only and also good. Small town of Chivirico down the hill, has no touristic value. I walked through it heading to the mountains. Views from Sierra Maestra slopes are spectacular. Coral reefs start directly from the beach for kilometers. But marine life is poor to none. Waves are as low as you only can expect it in the open sea. Maybe, I was lucky with this. No more than 20 guests came to the hotel, all of them were seniors. It was quiet and peaceful. No Cuban families as guests No noisy music My room was 108, and it is maybe the worst at the hotel, but yet fine.

Very friendly personal, good food (loved the soup), exceptional clean swimming pool. But need more outdoor chairs & beach lounges. Drawback ,beach is only accessable to healthy and fit people (299 stairs) to the beach, but you will not gain much weight this way

First time back in 8 years. Same friendly staff like coming home. Everything works, food was good with only a few shortages. Made some new friends as resort is small and so you get to know everyone. Great views in all directions.

We could see improvements from last year to today. The staff was very caring and understanding. I travelled with my sister who had a small accident just before we left for Cuba and required extra care. The 295 steps to the Ocean are arduous, but the beach is well worth the effort. Giant shade trees on the beach, wonderful protection against the sun, I have never seen that before. On the negative side, the last 107 steps could use a railing - at least on one side; and wifi access in the Lounge/Bar would be welcome! at Sierra Mar I could buy an access card for 2 CUC, but that resort is too busy, so I did go but twice - for the internet access. The rooms were cleaned and sanitized well every day, but the beds were old.

Brisas Los Galeanos was a place of reconnecting with nature, each other, and the simple pleasures of life to the full. The sea, beach, meals, nightly music and beautiful vistas made this our best holiday ever. The staff of Los Galeanos catered mindfully to our every need.

wonderful staff, clean resort, not a luxury resort but very friendly people that gives the place a warm atmosphere. the rooms are basic but well maintained. the beach is hard to get to...lots of steps as the hotel is on a hill...great beach lunch though makes the trip down the steps worth while. very remote location...found a herd of goats outside our room a few mornings, you will wake to roosters crowing and goats bleating...not the place to go if you want action and night life. the one excursion to the mud bath was well worth the 15 cuc. food was good for cuba...we have been to cuba a number of times and the food here was very good, fresh and hot...not much variety but good quality...overall appositive experience!

the resort only has 30 rooms, you get to know everyone and its just like being away with close friends. Food was 4 out of 5. Staff 5 out of 5. Great view of the surrounding area, located on top on a hill so no easy access to local beach but the pool is great and you have access to the sister resort just 15 min down the road.

Very friendly place. Rooms were clean and airy. Food was plentiful and the chefs accomdated special dietary needs. There wasn't much fruit and we noted there was very little fruit available in the town market.

This resort is more like going to a lodge where you want to enjoy the natural local beauty of the area. It is a small resort but offers everything that you need if you are looking for a quiet place to relax. More than enough food and beverages, all served by a lovely well-trained staff who are very attentive to your needs.The manager will also deal with your requests in that quiet dignified Cuban manner. A great place to decompress for a week and recharge. The entertainment and music was varied and very good and performed by musicians and dancers who are very talented and enjoy their music. Any minor inconviences are easily compensated by the overall good aspects of the resort.

We stayed here for two weeks in November. It was a nice change from a larger resort. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were always clean, food was great with lots of choices at all meals.there was a shuttle to another resort 3 times a week which offers a change of scenery .we also ventured into Sanitago de Cuba which was very enjoyable. all in all a very nice vacation .

Quiet, clean and very private! Lots of stairs, but the exercise was good. Staff friendly and attentive. Loved the balcony overlooking the sea! VIP service was awesome - early check-in, late check-out, lobster dinner and massage included!

This resort had the perfect size (small) for a peaceful yet fun and sociable vacation. It offered a mix of activities & opportunities: from relaxing on the beach, snorkelling amidst coral and tropical fish, listening to excellent live music every night, meeting local residents in the village down the hill, and eating wonderful food ~ I'd been warned so many times about bad food but this did not disappoint! I will definitely return and have recommended it to many friends and I myself am already planning my next stay.

Perched on a high hill, this is a comfortable adults-only resort with mostly affable staff. Nearly 300 steps to a beach with pebbly water made that an endeavour, but it's fine once you get there (and can climb back up). Staff make a great effort to serve lunch on the beach. The same hill makes jaunts to the nearby town an endeavour, especially in the heat. Three times a week a bus makes a daytime excursion to the all-ages sister resort of Sierra Mar, but evening excursions (for dinner variety and a show) were not mentioned and seemingly unavailable -- though the Sierra Mar manager told us on the last day that they should have been. No other excursions were offered, and even taxis weren't often visible. So bring books to read, mingle with other guests, and relax. P.S. Friends who learned of a family emergency back home couldn't get hold of the Hola Sun rep on a weekend. And a ride to the Holguin airport (provided by the front desk manager!) cost 200 CUC, which seems excessive.

The grounds were lovely, our room had everything we could want or need, with a fantastic view. The service staff was helpful and friendly. The food of course, left much to be desired, but we expected that so were not surprised. There's a lovely village down the hill, a beach about 300 steps straight downward, and a sister hotel with a closer beach and internet that could be accessed by shuttle. The only sour note here was that we had to leave after several days due to a family emergency at home, and oddly, the manager of the hotel took upon himself the job of taxi driver to get us to Holguin airport for an exorbitant price. We discovered later that the usual price was about half of what he demanded from us. We did not discover that our driver was the manager until the hour we were leaving. We were told there was no taxi driver available, but we believe that because there was a large amount of money to be made, the manager grabbed the opportunity for himself!

Los Galeones in Cuba is a special resort for anyone wanting to be truly "unplugged" in the sunshine. My partner and I had both been to Cuba before, always at larger resort hotels with 100+ rooms, couple of pools, 3 or 4 restaurants and buffets. Very nice, but always very busy. This time we searched for a smaller hotel resort that would offer a more quiet surrounding, but with all of the conveniences. Los Galeones gave us just that. Only 32 rooms, 1 pool, 1 bar, 1 restaurant and 1 beach bar, it was just perfect. We met other guests who came for the same reasons and many on their 5th, 6th + time. Excellent staff who would accommodate you in anyway. The rooms were simple, but clean, each offering a view of the ocean or the scenic town and bay below. Food was authentic Cuban each day - fresh breads, bbq chicken, ribs, salads. Local goat cheese and eggs and fruit. We enjoyed a fresh coconut water each morning on the private beach. Oh yes, the beach. There are 285 steps to walk down to get to the private beach. Really great setting. We enjoyed a bbq lunch there each day. Each evening a small band would come and entertain the guests. Well done! We walked into the town of Chivarico a couple of times. There is a great little restaurant at the bottom on the mountain. Call before you go and they will let you know what they have - we enjoyed the fresh caught fish and rice. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to just get away and relax. We will go back

Perfect simplicity. Low key, barefoot and delightful staff. The beach was gorgeous with ample shade and snorkeling right there. Lunch at the beach was the best. Dining outdoors in the evening with live music in the background was really appealing.

We liked the Resort very well and will be back there. The Personal is going out of there way in friendliness and service. The only complain we have is that the lounges at the Beach from 30 there are 25 broken. At the Pool there are 30 Lounges but only 4 Umbrellas to get some shade. We been told that there are new Lounges laying in the sister Resort del Mar, waiting to be shipped to Los Galeones. We hope this will happen, this will be a Question I will ask before I book again. Some People got hurt on the broken Lounges.

I love this small, intimate hotel. The fact that the same guests return year after year speaks to its popularity and homey feeling. Set on top of a hill, it looks down over the sea and the town of Chivirera. You have to be able to do the 300 steps down to the private beach with the bbq lunches. It's worth the climb. But there is also a lovely small pool and hot tub right on the grounds. The facilities are simple but quite adequate. And the staff are absolutely wonderful. Warm and helpful with ready smiles. A delightful and economic holiday. Ive been here twice and will definitely go again.

The staff are amazing, friendly and courteous. They treat you like family and will try their best to cater to one's needs. The resort is near a town which is within walking distance and very safe to walk around.

I loved this hotel. The staff was amazing, the food was very good and plentiful, the rooms were pleasant and very clean and best of all, because of its small size (only 35 rooms) it was very intimate and like being with family. I would definitely go back.

Very small resort, not for the party type. Perfect for me and my family. Loved the staff, fellow travellers, beach and proximity to town. Food was simple but excellent. Local musicians made the evenings very cultured and enjoyable. Will definitely be returning.

Small resort, friendly people (stuff & guests). Small, but never crowded, amazing beach, around three hundred stairs to get there (good exercise); no noisy entertainment. Recommended for everyone who likes quiet vacation.

Rooms: basic, but fine for sleeping. Nice terrace off every room. No bad views. The 200 block is the best. Food is fine - sometimes items are not available, but we were happy with the choice and portion size. Beach is lovely - great lunch. About 260 steps to the beach mean you work off the extra calories you ingest. The best thing about this resort is the fact it is very small and quiet - no loud music thumping or people trying to get you to dance the merengue.

After nearly thirty years of annual visits to Cuba, mostly at all-inclusive resorts from Havana circling the island to Santiago de Cuba, we thought last year that we'd finally found the ideal place: Los Galeones, a 32-room lovely hotel on top of a hill, 300 steps up from a beautifully secluded beach. Since no guests under 16 are permitted, this resort stood out among all the others as a very peaceful, quiet place where one can actually relax and enjoy a conversation with friends, read a book or even just sit and listen to the ocean. Of course we had to return there, and did for the latter two weeks of November, only to find that it's under new management. How sad to discover that this new man is determined to kill the uniqueness of the previous Galeones by turning it more and more into the over-all loud and obnoxious "entertainment" that's now a daily routine. Even down at the beach he insists that a band should play, every day, during lunch, while there is no escape from the earsplitting bands at the upstairs dining room every dinner. We discussed this new development with a number of regular "repeats" at this resort and concluded, that they will no longer be "repeats" if things don't return at least for 50 or 60 % of our time there to the former blissful quiet ambiance that made it so special.

The 300 steps are still there; the hill (driveway) is still very uneven; but the hotel itself has been updated with new mattresses and some flat-screen TVs. Still have room for improvement, but it is so small and intimate that you meet your fellow guests in an hour; food is no longer excellent, but still the best we've had in Cuba. Best staff ever; maintenance crew were always available for the smallest thing; a few blips of power outages (lasted about 10 minutes each) but occurred in the morning so didn't need to get flashlight out! For R&R the best ever; for active people, you will get a work out!

Small, intimate, with truly personal service from staff obviously very happy to have you as their guest, and a veiw that is as good or better than any anywhere in the world from every room! I know, it sounds too good to be true, but check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

I went on short notice after a death in the family for rest and recovery. It's a small modest hotel. The rooms are comfortable, the pool wonderful, the food very good and the staff delightful. It's a sister to a larger resort so if you feel like crowds and more eating choices and bigger pools, you can do that easily with a quick trip to the other resort. There are regulars who have been coming back for years and I found this at first tiresome but it is a large part of the charm. It is a couple of hundred stairs down to the beach so you plan for it when you go. The Manager Eddy has been there for 20 years and goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable. I would come back.

This was a very small resort and the service was excellent. The food was very good and was al a carte. The grounds were lovely. The pool was a little small but we are not pool people. We had the beach to ourselves most days as there were 300 stairs down to the beach. We would eat our lunch and stay down there most of the day. The stairs might be difficult for some people. We would come back to this resort.

The resort is small and relaxing and although it is a long bumpy ride to the location from the airport when you get there you feel like you are at home. There is no loud music, or entertainment and you feel like you are isolated but the staff is very friendly and attentive to all your needs that you forget that there is little to do other than relax and enjoy the scenery.

This was our fifth visit to this resort. The resort itself is adults only and quite small, only 32 rooms all with great views. If you are looking for non stop entertainment, water sports and a very large beautiful beach then this is definitely not the spot for you. But if you are a senior, want just to relax, read and soak in the sun it is perfect. There are just under 300 steps from the resort down to the ocean where there is a small beach and a very small pool at the resort level. The beach is good for snorkeling but not swimming as there is a lot of coral and rock. There is a beach bar and a barbecue lunch is served at the beach, so once you make the hike down you can spend the day. Unfortunately when it's time to climb back up the sun is usually at it's hottest :) At the beach you will be visited by goats and this year two mother pigs and their piglets also visited daily. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. The road from the airport to the resort has improved 90%, the food is good for Cuba but if you stay longer than 1 week it does become very monotonous as the menu repeats itself. There are singing groups that come at dinner time and they are always very good. We travelled with Hola Sun and never once saw our rep either at the resort or airport which was very disappointing so we were unable to book trips off the resort. Los Galeones has a sister resort Sierra Mar which is about 20 minutes away. A shuttle bus (when and if it's running) will take you there in the morning twice a week and return you in time for dinner. So you can spend the day at Sierra Mar and your bracelet from Los Galeones is all you need to eat and drink there. From Los Galeones you are able to walk down the hill to visit the village of Chivrico and this is a great experience. The weather is usually quite hot in March (when we have gone in the past). All in all we had good time but are undecided at this point if we will return. I see that the next questions asks if we would recommend this hotel to a friend, I will say yes because we are seniors but I would definitely not recommend it to our children.

Beautiful resort with stunning views all round. Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Great resort if you're looking for peace and tranquility. The beach was clean and very quiet, there's a little rock pool off to the side with about 5 different types of fish.
