FOOD IS SECOND TO NONE! every single day , consistent, huge selections, meats, pastas, You name it!, Drinks top branded!, exceeded expectations!, Beach was incredible, NO SEAWEED!, private type bay beach, resort super clean, rooms AC were amazing, Casino was incredible, I would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

Clean rooms, fantastic food and amazing staff everywhere. Unfortunately did not get to go in the ocean because of jellyfish, but at least we could walk the beach because there was no smelly seaweed. If you are not obsessed with the beach, I would highly recommend. The pool and activities were a lot of fun. We upgraded to adult side (Bouganville) which I think really made a difference, as the family side was quite busy.

We truly had the best time there. Not only is the country beautiful, the nearby excursions (MonkeyLand and Saona Island), as well as the friendly staff too. We were 4 friends celebrating a birthday. It's so much fun and there's so many things to do in and out of the resort. The à-la-carte restaurants and buffet food is made with love. The rooms were always clean. The staff doesn't expect or force you to tip. The front desk and bell-mans are always available, smiley and friendly. Every staff member was happy to see us every day. A HUGE thank you to Angel from the beach restaurant for being the sweetest, funniest and kindest person. Luis A., Luis B. and Yismeily Are THE best entertainers, they work so hard and are super fun to dance with. The bartenders, especially Christian, Alberto and the bartender at the pool, are amazing and make the best drinks (with and without alcohol). Nathaniel and Enmanuel, although quite shy due to the language barrier, were extremely nice waiters and they're kindness didn't go unnoticed. If we could remember everyone's names, the list would be super long!! The talent at the night shows was unreal. The overall cleanliness of the resort was comforting. It's also so easy to make friends all around.

While I had a great time spending the week with family and friends, several aspects of this resort left me disappointed. One challenge was the language barrier, as very few staff members spoke English fluently. That said, the staff were always kind and genuinely tried their best to understand and assist, which I appreciated. In hindsight, I probably should have brushed up on some Spanish before travelling. The rooms were clean, but they felt very outdated and could definitely use renovations. Storage space was limited, with very little drawer space for clothing, and several drawers were difficult to open and close. Another major issue was the lack of hot water, which made showering uncomfortable throughout the stay. The food was average and not particularly memorable, and the entertainment team did not seem very engaging or interactive with guests. My biggest disappointment, however, was the beach and ocean. The water was murky and not inviting, likely due to a nearby river flowing into the area. Unfortunately, I had to pay for an excursion elsewhere just to enjoy clearer saltwater and a better beach experience. Overall, although I still enjoyed my vacation because of the people I was with, this is not a resort I would personally recommend, nor would I choose to return to it in the future.

Bahia Principe La Romana is a beautiful resort overall, especially the grounds — they are absolutely stunning and very well maintained. The rooms are nice at first glance, but once you spend some time in them you can definitely tell they are dated and there are quite a few imperfections. The food was good with lots of variety and plenty of options to choose from, although I was hoping for more authentic Dominican food during the stay. One of the biggest disappointments for me was the ocean. I had done a lot of research beforehand and kept hearing that La Romana had some of the best ocean views and water in the Dominican Republic, but that honestly wasn’t my experience. If I return to the DR, I would probably stay closer to Punta Cana instead. Another thing worth mentioning is that there were communication barriers at times since many of the workers didn’t speak much English. Everyone was friendly, but it occasionally made things difficult. Overall, we still had a good trip thanks to the beautiful property and solid food options, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved.

My wife and I had a great two week trip to Bahia Principe La Romana. Everything was amazing and our agent Jennifer Brown made sure it was easy and worry free . The food and service was outstanding all around. My only issue was the beach water is not clear like Punta Cana it is murky due to a nearby river flowing into the ocean. The beach was great for walking and just relaxing . It was my second visit to this resort and we really enjoyed our holiday.

This resort was just the right size for us. It was extremely clean and staff were very friendly. The rooms could stand to be modernized but for the amount of time spent in a room, they were good. The food was great and we had no issues reserving the a la cartes. I would return to this resort.

The resort was beautiful but the rooms were dated and we never had hot water in our room. The beach was lovely and the food was good. The staff were amazing they were happy, helpful and kind. The food was good and the pool was nice and large

I was very impressed with Bahia Principe Grand La Romana. What a well kept clean beautiful resort. From lobby to dining to the rooms! We had hot water every day and internet was better then mine at home, even on the beach most times. I dont swim in the ocean but the beach was clean and nice. Pool was large and always clean. Staff were always friendly and the shows at night were enjoyable.. most importantly though, i ALWAYS felt safe! I did notice cameras outside on some of the paths which help me feel more safe too.. in conclusion i would give this resort a 5/5. I can’t emphasize enough about the quality of the staff and food was always good -Angela

We booked an Oceanfront Superior room& had to relocate due to a weird sewer smell. Our new room was fine& had great views. Resort is well appointed, nice lobby & great service in all areas. The do require additional servers in the lobby during the evening we would wait for a long time, then eventually go to bar to get our own beverages. The Caribbean Water at this resort is not Blue clear water it is murky brown & full of jellyfish both in water & on the shoreline, due to the nearby river flowing in, shoreline has a wide deep shelf upon entry, so no swimming here. We had to walk to the end of the far Bay to find a small swimmable area at Corale Beach. No service on Beach, unless in Privilege , but beach bar was close by& provided a good service. Pool is large, loud, but is clean. Lots of loungers to use on the wide beach sitting area. Rooms were clean, shower/bath dated with low water pressure & only lukewarm water throughout the 10 days. Food is very good, in all areas, the inclusive Red& White Wine offered was from Spain, it was poor quality, of any wines offered at an all inclusive. We would not return due to the Beach conditions

The resort was nice overall; great pool, nice beach, tons of beach/pool chairs, nice assortment of food/a la carte restaurants. The only issue is that rooms need updating and the gym needs better layout.

After spending many years in Cuba supporting the amazing people with supplies for schools, personal needs and medical supplies it was different to take a vacation for ourselves. We were in Cuba when things shut down earlier in February this year. The experience at Bahia Principe la Romania, from check in to check out, was truly all about us. The food and drinks were wonderful and the staff, from our room attendant to the servers were so tentative. We really felt pampered. Only the beach, not the lounging area that was exotic but the water clarity was not what we are used to. Pool was fabulous! We do realize that DR has it's own issues and appreciate life is happening all around us. Beth McKinley at Trip Central was very informative and helpful booking this vacation for us . The resort was great we upgraded to the bouganville which was also amazing! Only thing I would change is the air Canada rep falsely advertising excursions but other than that all and all a great experience from day one booking right till getting home

Day 1. We missed the first day as our flight was 3 hours 45 min late from Halifax. The airport was a complete mess. It seemed as though the ground crew were having fun or completely horrible at their job. The entire plane had to search for luggage. One piece of mine was on the MINNEAPOLIS belt. The other was on the PARIS belt. Over 90 minutes to search for bags. Our agent at the airport then asked why we kept him waiting????? Wouldn't the Air Transat Rep already know our flight was late? Then another 15 min or so to find our drive. We ended up getting to the hotel at 7pm. So we lost our first day. One passenger mentioned a 400$ refund each because the delay was over 3 hours. I asked the AT rep at the airport. He said to ask our rep at the resort in the morning. Couldnt find them the next day. So we went on the AT app and filed our "more than 3 hours delay" request. The app told us we were past the 48 hour window....which I didnt understand as i filed it at 7:45 am and our flight left at 1045... so i was in the 48 hour window by 3 hours) Still waiting to hear back from Air Transat. Which I'm sure will be a nightmare. Day 2-10. This resort is gorgeous! The buffet was amazing. Zero complaints about anything to do with food. We spent the first day at the pool as the beach had no available chairs. Pool was nice. Clean, great shade when needed. Beach buffet was great! We had gorgeous lunches... again, no complaints about food. We signed up for an excursion. (CATALINA BEACH) Snorkeling, beach time, a meal, then home. We DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! The boat ride to the Snorkeling area was horrible! Open water, alot of waves, and the Captain hit every one! If you have a bad back, do not take this trip. 45 minutes of pounding the waves to get to the Snorkeling area. Upon arrival, we were to snorkel for 1 hour. I was the last one to get off the boat and folks were getting back on. Not even ten minutes in the water. Zero coral! Zero fish! Zero anything to see! We got to the beach. Disappointed as the beach was dirty, chairs were broken( 75% of them). The bathrooms were completely disgusting! Doors didn't lock. The water in the toilets looked and smelled like feces, the water from the taps to wash your hands was brown and smelled horrible. This was also to be an "all inclusive " excursion, but the Bartender wanted 10$US for 1 beer. He said "when we eat lunch, the beer will be free." That was a 3 hour wait for lunch. The water on the bar to drink was free. But the cups were dirty, and the water was in a very dirty Gatorade jug. The beach was not nice at all. We were told we could walk a ways down to another beach. When we got there, signs and security said it was private and we couldn't stay. That looked like a nicer beach. The food was OK. Then another hour's wait to board the boat to go back to the resort. 45 minutes hitting every wave again. That day, besides missing our first day, was a bad day. We found a spot on the resorts beach that was a bit nicer. And spent most of our days there. The staff are amazing! Oscar (our waiter in the Buffett) was super friendly, and went above and beyond. Cappuccino machine was in the dining room for people to get their own, but Oscar brought them to us. Same with the mimosas. Folks could pour their own, but Oscar wasn't having it. Every meal we sat in his section. During his days off, the room actually felt different. He has very good energy, and always brought smiles and laughs to everyone he interacted with. Our Chambermaid was great! The rooms were spotless, the bed was comfortable, and anything we needed was taken care of. We didn't take in many shows at night. The ones we did were OK. They day we left was a long day. We had to be out of our rooms at 6am to meet our driver for 7.our flight home was uneventful and even with a snowstorm, Air Transat was the ONLY FLIGHT TO TAKE OFF FROM HALIFAX(to the DR) and the only flight to land that day (our flight). So instead of a10 day vacation, we had only 8. The only "cons", besides losing a full day and the excursion, was the pool entertainment. Very loud and hard to understand. The music was deafening! There is only one pool so you can't get away from it. And the smokers. They had a designated area outside the lobby for smokers. That was nice and we could enjoy ourselves in the beautiful lobby . They should have no smoking at the pool. Like the BP in Jamaica. That was a welcomed treat to not have to take in 2nd hand smoke. We thought at first it was no smoking as there were no ashtrays.. but I guess we were wrong. We won't go here again. Not because of anything wrong with the resort, our ALL INCLUSIVE days are now behind us. Our future travel will be to Europe UK etc

Hotel was very clean in a well gated location which made me feel very safe. Food was fantastic! Beach and pool areas were awesome. Staff were very courteous, helpful and friendly. Night shows were good but a couple seemed a bit unorganized. Could be fixed with better communication ie location and content

The facility is very nice. Friendly staff, very clean and overall well maintained. The rooms are clean although they have started to look a little tired. I was a little irked over the lack of hot water. After a five minute wait, the best I could get was tepid. Nice to get home and have a hot shower. Beach and pool area were great. The self serve restaurant was good. Lots of selection. Try and stay away from the standard house wine. It’s brutal. The à la carte restaurants were very good. If you’re a golfer the PGA course is excellent.

The staff are accommodating and pleasant. The buffet offers a large selection as well delicious food. The coffee machine offers fancy coffee drinks like cappuccino, The nightly entertainment was good. All 3 al carte restaurants were amazing, many choices served by pleasant staff. The grounds were well manicured. The facility is close to the beach. The premise is clean. It’s a bit dated and can use a facelift.

Resort had all the amenities that a family would enjoy. Pool was huge and my granddaughters and their father were in the pool everyday, with a poolside bar for drinks. Beach waters were a little difficult to enter as there were small pebbles and then dips down about 2 feet, which made it a little difficult to walk back to shore. Water shoes recommended. Our rooms were side by side, and room was large, comfortable beds. Food too much to select from that would satisfy any pallet. Nightly entertainment was awesome!!!!

The grounds were so peaceful. I loved my morning walk through the grounds and the big walkways, lined with palm trees on either side. I especially loved walking the grounds at night where all the palm trees were lit up from the bottom. The lobby was beautiful and had plentiful amount of tables and chairs where you could sit and watch the entertainment or play a game of cards with a drink on hand. The public rest rooms were always maintained and clean. The dining rooms and the buffet were always clean, cleanliness was top priority here, as soon as a guest left the table it was cleaned immediately. The pool was huge and plenty of space to find a chairs and room to swim. There was entertainment all day at the pool, and if you wanted to leave the pool there was a clean sandy beach with volleyball, soccer and plenty of chairs under the palm tree umbrellas. The beach is a little murky because of the sand that is always moving, but the water is clear so don't be fooled. It drops off quickly and goes down to 3' right away. Most of the time we spent either walking the beach or at the pool, not too much time in the ocean. The good thing about this beach is that it is in a bay and there are few waves and was mostly calm.

Great location after a 80 minute ride from Punta Cana airport. Beautiful property, everything close by. Helpful and friendly staff, Buffet and the A La Carte restaurants were also very good. Pool by the beach was a hit with the swim up bar. The only drawback was the sea…(unfortunately a river runs into the bay and turns the water murky.) More like a lake. Of All in all, I would recommend this hotel, but not for the sea. Just being honest… Bill MacIntyre .

The Lobby is so spacious and open, bar tenders at the lobby bar were fast and super friendly, everyone was always happy and smiling. The buffet is really big with so much variety of food, Radaisy and her crew were so awesome and helpful with our 2 birthday celebrations. Jhongelin was always smiling and waited on us hand and foot never a dirty dish on the table or an empty coffee cup! The swim up bar had the best bartender, Luis Carmona. So happy, smiling, dancing and so fast with everyone's drinks

This report was amazing, beautiful beach, friendly staff. They are kind and welcoming.staff did their best to make your needs be met.I celebrated my Mom 65th birthday and they staff made a a memorable time especially Radaisy she was so helpful. For our breakfast every morning Jhongelin made sure we have everything and always checking up on us. For the pool bar our bartender was amazing Luis Carmona. He made sure we always have a drink in our hand

We really enjoyed the hotel. Definitely a bonus having the option of the adult side while still being able to enjoy all the amenities across the resort. The staff were great and really took care of our needs.

This resort was very clean. The staff and entertainment crew were amazing!! There was always some sort of activity or game going on, cool dance lessons and fun bingo! Some of our favorite staff members included Genna and Mariano Carmelo from entertainment, Hector and Juan Carlos from the beach snack bar. Would definitely recommend this resort.

This was a special trip with just my daughter for some quality time together. We found the resort to be really relaxing and all the amenities allowed me to not worry about anything and to just enjoy my one on one time with her. The staff were quick to help when our air conditioning stopped working. They were happy to answer questions and quick with a smile. Our room was perfect. Bonus was a nesting bird in the palm tree outside our door. Got to see the baby two days before we left. We never left the buffet hungry. Some different items between the daily basic staples were just enough to keep it interesting. We had some great laughs with the staff at the Italian restaurant. Our day trip Catalina Island was amazing. The tour group made sure we were safe and happy. Travelling with a 12 year old can in a foreign country made me a bit nervous but very quickly felt safe and comfortable there. Can't wait to go back. Maybe next time I'll bring my other daughter or husband.

Great hotel is located in a wonderful spacious green garden. Large swimming pools for adults and kids.Rooms are spacious and with loads of features. Excellent room service. Dinning services are amazing with a team of well trained personnel. Well maintained beach shoreline but sea water is merky due to river delta closeby.

Nice location, the room were clean, the staff was friendly. Julito at the hibiscus bar was the best. The water for the shower was too cold. Never had a day with a warm shower. Some fish and meat were overcooked.(roasted salmon on its skin at el pescador and pollo a la parmesana at the Il Capriccio) Once our door was left open after room service. I liked that every day there was a theme night at the buffet. There’s only pepsi zero and 7up regular in the whole resort. It’s worse than pepsi diet. No alcohol in the room fridge!!! Chair were available near the beach every day. Too bad the sea water was blurry and there were some jellyfish, the resort would be a 5 stars.

This was our first time staying at a resort, usually we explore a country independently. Trip central was super helpful and organized. The resort Bahia Precipe has beautiful buildins, gardens and pools, is well run and safe. The staff are professional, friendly, pleasant and helpful, the hotel's best asset. However, I am allergic to most of the food that was served and the resort did not seem able to accommodate food differences such as lactose intolerance and vegetarian diets. There was a lot of cross contamination between for example pork and other foods. There was entertainment every night. It was loud and mostly USA music, commercial and not authentic to the Dominican . We would have loved to attend a workshop in the first few days presenting Dominican culture, history, geography, economy and politics... We went on 2 off resort excursions where some of this information was presented by very knowledgeable guides (but with too much focus on Columbus and stops at cheap souvenir shops). Our main concern is the level of noise on the resort. It's almost impossible to get away from the noise. Loud music is constantly blasted from multiple locations simultaneously. Although a beautiful resort, the noise is why we will probably not visit this resort again.

The only problem is the hot water, the rest is perfect. Very nice and helpful service, very clean and really wonderful greenery in the resort. Great appreciation for the fabulously colorful cakes. Thank you.

The resort is nicely kept, good beach but not a very good access to the sea for the kids. A bit dissatisfied with the greyish colour of the water instead of the turquoise like in other Caribbean beaches. The food was great lots to choose from, staff very friendly. Overall good experience.

As usual, rooms were spotless but dated and had very low water pressure in the shower which we were told was the entire resort. Food at main and beach buffets was excellent. Every night was a different theme and lots to choose from. Never a problem finding chairs either at the beach or by the pool. Lots of shade. Water in the ocean was murky due to the river close by. Not the blue you would normally expect. Lobby was massive with tons of places to sit and grab a coffee or a drink. Overall the resort was nice and we would go back.

Over four decades and after visiting the Dominican Republic for at least 15 times, this particular "vacation" was the absolute worst my wife and I can remember. As elderly people with moderate habits, I was taken ill on our third day on site with severe diarrhea, had to consult the resort's resident doctor and spent -- besides US$330 -- the balance of our "vacation" taking anti-biotics, pills for fever and chills and pro-biotics. On the final night in the resort, my wife was taken ill by way of vomiting and diarrhea and travelled severely ill all the way back to Canada on an empty stomach since all she could consume without vomiting was water and pretzels. There is no question in our minds that the level of hygiene security in the kitchen and in the bars were lacking. NEVER AGAIN will we be staying at this or any other Bahia Principe resort. For that matter, I think we shall write off the DR as a destination.

Overall was an ok vacation but pricey for what you get in my opinion. The food was only ok. Buffet was packed, line ups etc. Same food everyday. The low end liquor was horrible. Pop was flat, juice wasn’t juice was tang. Massive cockroaches in the room. And not sure if this was weather related but the beach water was brown. Couldn’t see the bottom of the ocean and I got stung by jellyfish ?. Ouch Tried to make the best of it as we were there a family wedding but don’t go in July way too hot ? was over 40 everyday with the humidex. Pool was packed and very noisy! Very crowded at the resort. Over an hour drive from airport.

We stayed at the BahiaPrincipe Grand la Romana resort in Dominican from June 7 to June 14 and it was a bad experience. Initially, we were upset that it was impossible to swim in the sea. There are a lot of wasps on the beach. There is almost no entertainment for children, only one small pool and a playground that was often closed. The staff barely speaks English. Our air conditioner broke on the first night, but it was fixed the next day. When my four-year-old son stepped on a snake, we were shocked. It was a miracle she didn't bite him. My son somehow jumped back very quickly and we were lucky. When I tried to find out what kind of snake it was, whether it was poisonous or not, and whether there were many of them here, they ignored me with smiles. Near the pool, someone took one of our towels, and when I came to the reception desk about this, the woman standing there in a rude and dissatisfied manner said that it was our responsibility to take care of the towel and wanted us to pay for it. But in the end, she was very dissatisfied and gave us a new card. In the bars, the bartenders also spoke almost no English and always had dissatisfied faces. We often had to wait a long time for our drink or sometimes were simply ignored. The day before departure, we went to the reception to find out when they would come for us, but there they told us that they didn’t know anything and it was our concern and they told us to find out for ourselves. As a result, on the day of departure, in a panic, we began to look for someone to take us to the airport and were ready to take a taxi, but thanks to Belboy, thank you very much, we found our driver. We spent a lot of nerves. And the worst thing is that our children, 4 and 2 years old, contracted scabies there. We had to immediately rush to the hospital upon arriving home. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not go there again.

We had a good experience in this hotel, great food and amazing staff. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean and excellent service. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Negative: jellyfish in the beach

One night turkey was being carved and served as a feature. It was all gone in 45 minutes and the server advised there was no more turkey available!!!!! Evrntually they brought out some chicken but even that was limited. Someone grossly underestimated the amount of turkey required when the resort was apparently nearly full. Thankfully they had pasta-pizza etc available every night. Overall the food was a disappointment compared to other resorts I have been to. Our room was directly opposite the lobby of the Boganville lobby which was a turn around point for the shuttles being operated by the e hotel. Everytime they backed up the reverse alarm would start beeping which sounded like an alarm clock going off No sleep for the first two nights After complaining strenuously I finally got to speak to the person who supervised the shuttles and he was able to quiet them during the night but they would start up at 7 AM. Would have been nice to sleep in a bit while on holidays. MY ADVICE. Avoid building o 32

Here's the great. The resort is immaculately clean, beautiful and the rooms are spacious and very nice. Staff were super friendly and hard working, although I did encounter key staff members who spoke no english (lifeguard). The food was what's to be expected from a buffet but overall it was good albeit repetitive in their offerings. Restaurants to book in were very good with great service. Size of resort was great. Not too big...not too small. The beach with the palm trees was outstanding. To swim at the beach there was a step down on entry and exit which made getting in and out difficult. I had to have my husband help me out every time. Not ideal for seniors. Water not clear (which I knew prior to arrival) however there is something to be said about heading to the tropics and experiencing the crystal blue waters. My first two days there we had no hot water for showers. When it finally started working the temp was warm at best. It is far from the airport which after a day of travel isn't the best.

This hotel was nice to stay at but it wasn’t up to expectations. The food was mediocre, it was edible but there wasn’t anything that stood out and that included the restaurants. You can only book the restaurants 3 times in your 7 days and your wait time will be very long before being served and the food will be just okay THE BEACH IS DIRTY. Some of the staff will try to tell you that there was recent flooding and that’s why it’s not swimmable but other staff will tell you that it’s been this way for years and just hasn’t been cleaned. I have read some reviews from the past now and it seems the beach has been dirty for a long time. There is not a lot of nightlife. The bars close early at the resort and after the 9pm entertainment show there is nothing to do so if you’re young and looking to have fun this is probably not the resort for you (the crowd is mostly elderly people and family with young children) Overall, if you are okay with just relaxing by the pool and going to bed early this is a great resort to stay at. If you’re looking for nightlife and beach days a different resort is better to book.

I love the resort from my first view. The staff met us in the lobby very welcomed. Check in was very fast and during our stay the receptionists help us any time with any issues quickly. Entertainments for guests were interesting, I love food and a la carte restaurants. Pool was busy because of jellyfish in the ocean. Almous nobody were swimming in the ocean. All guests who tried to swim ithere were stung by those creatures including me and it was very painful. I can have vacation only once a year and love to stay in salty water all days.Not this time. I recommend this hotel, but not in the summer, season of jellyfish nesting. Rooms are spacious and clean. Again, the staff was amazing, Our maid Aleyda, all staff in the buffets, bar waitresses especially Dorka barman Edgar, get 5 stars.

The hotel itself was great. A lot of variety of food everyday and the grounds kept clean. Lobby bar closes at 11pm and than you have to get drinks from disco bar which could pose issues if you have children with you. Staff at the resort were very friendly and the maid staff wonderful. The beach is not blue waters, it is quite murky and they were jellyfish flags up for the two weeks we were there. We actually went to other beaches via taxi to experience the blue blue waters we were seeking. If this hotel was on the Playa Bayahibe side near Dominicus beach it would be perfect. Unfortunately the beach was the ultimate deal breaker for us.

Grounds, food and entertainment were very good. We did have to change room after the first night since the air conditioners (outside our corner unit) were loud. Ask for second floor, if possible. Hot water takes time to arrive, but overall it was good. The ocean water/beach is great, except for jellyfish bites - the lifeguard is prepared to administrate vinegar and goes way quickly.

The resort was beautiful in every way. The grounds and beach were groomed impeccably. Loungers and tables at the beach and around the pool were cleaned everyday. The food was awesome. So many choices and always presented and prepared to perfection. The staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to be genuinely happy that we were there. Every effort was made to make our vacation totally stress free.

The Bahia Principe Grand La Romana resort was fantastic, we loved our stay. The beach is disappointing though and that was kind of a bummer for us. We spent the entire time at the pool as the beach kind of resembles Lake Ontario rather than the blue water white sand experience you expect in the Dominican. Everyone was saying La Romana has the best beaches but it turns out this specific resort is the only exception to that La Romana rule. There is apparently a nearby river which ruins the color of the water and makes it look like a lake. Everything else was great tho so if you don’t care for the beach this resort is great for a chill week away from work and city noise. Food was good, lots of choices, soups every day I tried them all I absolutely love soups, vegetables and fruits in grand variety. The resort is large enough not to feel crowded and small enough that everything is within a 5 mins walk. The entertainment team is fun and happy and they do t annoy and obligate you if you aren’t into playing their games and just want to hang out and watch others play. One bar at the beach, one bar at the pool and a bar at the lobby so plenty of alco spots. Rooms were ok, not super roomy but enough to do your minimum needs as you aren’t expected to spend much time in the room anyway. We liked being on the first floor as that gave us a nice backyard view to the resort and also another way to enter our room as the key rarely actually worked.

The resort in general is quite nice and well kept. The rooms are a bit dated but clean with a comfortable bed. However, the bathroom is sub standard because of the bad lighting and crowded shower space which is a bit scary because of the slippery floor in the tub (a warning sign is posted). The buffet is smaller than most and some of the offerings are questionable because they don't fit the time of day they are being served but you don't have to take them because there are many more choices. This is a family resort and is not geared to meeting other people. For instance, there are no bars with seating which makes it harder to interact with others that you don't know. Make sure you book your ala carte restaurants immediately. We waited until our second day and there was nothing available so we were relegated to seven days of the buffet which gets old really quickly. The biggest disappointment was that the Casino was closed and has been for three months. We chose this resort because it had an on-site casino and quite obviously feel cheated because no web sites or information disclosed this fact. The casino was important to us because Bahia Principe resorts "roll up their sidewalks" at ten pm. unless you are a disco going type. I repeat, it is suited to families.

Tres bon service, chambre agreable, nourriture au buffet tres bien ,resto le francais et l italien tres bien,le 24 heures pour depannage tres bien, la plage rien a voir a celle de Cuba,je n ai pas aimer et il y avait de tres gros insectes comme des abeilles a l interieur du sable et l eau etait toujours brouillee, pas faite pour des amoureux de plage .Le plus desagreable c etait le transport inclus de l aeroport a l hotel, a l arrivee il nous ont oublie ils ont fait revenir l autobus pour nous prendre , pour le retour a l aeroport a la fin des vacances , le responsable d air Transat nous conseille d etre au lobby pur 9heures 45 minutes pour prendre l autobus ,a 9heures 30 minutes nous sommes au lobby pour prendre cet autobus qui n est jamais venu et nous avons appris par d autres voyageurs Louise et kalvin que je salut, qu il n y a jamais eu d autobus mais un petit taxi avant 9 heures 30 minutes et qui est parti sans jamais ce presenter comme notre transporteur.Heureusement le vol etait en retard et Leonardo le represantant de air transat voyant que j etait tres mecontente a reussi a nous avoir un autre taxi gratuitement.Ne pas ce laisser arnaquer et ce plaindre vigoureusement parce que le transport est inclus.Merci air Transat mon prochain depart est pour janvier 2023.

The food was of a much better quality, as well as the booze they used to serve pre covid. It was my second time at this resort and I was shocked by the difference in quality before and after the rona.

Very nice resort - good value for the money. Ocean was a little disappointing due to water clarity and debris but this is not something the resort can change. Staff were hard working and pleasant and the activities team were welcoming and fun. Food was good with lots of choices. Very clean - lots of hand sanitizer around if needed - did not really think about COVID all week!! Had a nice family vacation.

This is a typical Bahia Principe Hotel. Large cozy green area, chic lobby, qualified service, good entertainment and quality food. We liked sandy beach. Ocean water was not clear because the river flows near the hotel, but we went swimming in another place not so far. The main bonus is that we didn't have seaweed as often happens in Punta Cana.

This was a last minute trip. We had not been to an all inclusive in 5 years and we needed to get away from the cold. This resort is a little over 1 hour drive from Punta Cana airport. Very lush grounds, very well maintained. A lot of trees on the beach so if you cannot get a parasol on the beach, trees provide nice shade. Rooms are large and clean. We had a nice balcony with chairs and table. Air conditionning was a bit too cool (one setting only - high). Pool is huge and nice. Food - A large dining room or bfast, lunch and supper. I am not a fan of buffets, it was ok. Good selection for bfast and supper. We usually had our lunch at the beach Los Olas restaurant. Another buffet but smaller. I found it was always the same food. Not much variety. We tried the Italian and Pescatore restaurant (the Gourmet was full all week). For us the Italian was the best. The beach does not have white sand like in Punta Cana however it is still beautiful. Aways a small wave and no weeds. If there were weeds, they were cleaned right away as they have staff working the beach all morning. Drinks - 4 bars and service is good. We found the drinks with liquor were watered down. The service in the dining room is very good. Every time we entered the dining room we had no problems finding a table and we never waited for coffee in the morning or water and wine at supper. Consistently every day. Good service at the lobby counter also. We had an issue with our room when we arrived and it was taken care of very quickly. The other thing is be aware as Canadians, you will get a call in your room to say they have a gift for you. Its all about time share. Typical talk and then they will give you a credit for the gift shop. We did not go. This is a nice small resort. Great for couples or families who want a quiet place to rest and relax.

The resort had a long, very walkable private beach. Much of the beach was lined with palm trees and sun lounges. One end even featured a beach bar. As I enjoy snorkelling it was unfortunate that the resort is near a river. The silt from the river tends to make the water by resort cloudy, a sort of grey-blue colour. However, the further one walked from the river the clearer the water became. I was able to snorkel at the furthest beach. The 3 restaurants on the resort offered wonderful meals. There was a cappuccino bar which I enjoyed. The buffet restaurant always served an interesting and wide variety of selections. My room held a new model television and fully equipped bathroom. I appreciated the magnifying mirror. There were also free bicycles and a great number of safe biking roads around the golf course and new housing developments.

Great Staff, enjoyed the food and location! Smaller than most Bahia resorts, just the way I like it. Most of the large hotels fail to focus on your needs but NOT here, guest service was outstanding. Currently the JR suites are very dated (hot water issue) however they are in the process of upgrading them. Never the less we plan on returning in September 2020.

We returned from a vacation in Grand Bahia La Romana and we can say only good about it even resort is older, but well-kept grounds clean rooms with daily stock. The beachfront has a lot of cabanas and is also kept clean. The A la carte restaurants very good food with a nice presentation. The buffet restaurant has a good selection and you can find food for your likings. The last thing is bars with some international drinks and good service mainly in the lobby bar with barman name Jesus that made our evening memorable. M & L

No complaints at all - from the staff, to the food, to the airport transfers - everything went smooth and really ensured a perfect vacation. Would definitely recommend this property to friends and family

The hotel grounds are clean and well kept , as well as the beach and pool areas. The rooms are well maintained ,the staff are second to none and very friendly. The food, be it the restaurants or the buffet is excellent. Definitely worth the value and well worth a return holiday visit.

To whomever it may concern,  We are writing a formal complaint to you regarding a recent stay at the Grand Bahia Principe La Romana resort.  We began with a very delayed flight from Toronto Pearson Airport to Santo Domingo. After another lengthy delay waiting on the shuttle bus, we finally made it to the resort. Check in was smooth and we got to our room quite quickly without any trouble. Being greeted by a non-functioning and infested room though, was unacceptable, given the pricey $1600 we each paid for the trip.  Upon stepping into the room and looking around, things were clean and in order, but we did notice the drinks in the fridge were warm, and the room did not feel as though the air conditioning was on the highest level which we ensured it was. Hoping the air would continue to cool, we attempted to use our safe to lock our personal items prior to leaving the room.  There were no instructions on or in the safe, and the knob on the door of it was almost broken. We left it for the night, deciding to ask someone to help us in the morning with it. An Air Transat rep gave instructions the next day for the use of it, which worked but the safe was still difficult to use due to the door knob being broken.  Over the week we noticed there to be a lot of mosquitoes in the suite, likely due to the humidity from the faulty air conditioner. We did not think it was abnormal until we talked to our friends a few days in to our stay. They were on the other side of the resort, and they claimed to have no bites and no mosquitoes in their functioning rooms.  We called the concierge desk on day 3 regarding the warm drinks in the fridge. We reached an employee who told us they would send someone to check out the fridge right away. No one showed up to our suite. We called later that night and the next day about it, no answer. No one showed to fix it during the week.  Day 4 we were in bed at a reasonable time, just after 11pm. Our neighboring guests were loud, obnoxious and screaming very very loudly. This went on for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. We called the concierge desk but no one answered. This went off and on the rest of the night.  Day 5, we noticed while using the bathroom that a few drops of water were dripping from the ceiling above the toilet. Thinking it was from the condensation from using the shower, we ignored it. This continued to day 6 even without any condensation from the shower being used. Knowing the lack of customer service we got from our previous complaints, we decided against making another complaint and left it alone as there was only one day left.  The final issue came on the last morning, day 7. Waking up around 9:30am, myself (Amanda) walked toward the front hallway of the suite to use the bathroom. Just as I reached where the AC vent was located, I slipped in a massive puddle of water, thankfully only getting a minor bruise to my knee. The hallway floor had flooded and water had been leaking through the ceiling where the AC was located, down the walls and creating a large puddle across the hallway. We were absolutely appalled at how this could happen and immediately placed a towel over the area to walk through and went up to the concierge desk in person to get an explanation and to clean up the room as we only had a few hours before check out.  At about 10am, we went to the desk and was greeted by a woman who, once we explained everything that we had been through during our stay, showed very little empathy towards our situation. We showed her a video of the damaged suite and she told us she would send a manager right away to our room. She proceeded to tell us because of the infestation in the room she wanted us out of it for at least 2 hours to “fumigate”. Reminding her it was our final day here, we told her we could not do that as we needed to check out by 12pm. We asked for a later check out to accommodate us as it seemed to be the least she could do considering the mess we had been dealing with. She denied our request, telling us that she needed to ensure the room was ready for the next guests, making us appear insignificant to her. Frustrated, we left the front desk and returned to our room to find no manager there let alone any one to check the leak we had showed her on the video. Finally, a cleaning lady knocked on our door and was quite alarmed at the water pooled on the floor. She replaced two towels down, and left. We proceeded to pack our things, and waited until 12pm to leave and check out. In those few hour between us filing the complaint and her telling us a manager would be there, not a single other employee showed up to our room.  We find this an unacceptable way to treat your guests who pay for a 5 star resort. The accommodations we had were horrendous compared to what we were expecting and this will be the last time we stay at a Grand Bahia resort, and use Air Transat services, including trip central.  We would like a response, an explanation and a solution to these issues in a timely manner. This was completely unacceptable, and we will not refrain from sharing this experience with other potential guests to ensure people know exactly what to expect from a resort that is claimed to be 5-star like this.  As mentioned above, we do have a video of the pool of water and leakage from the final day of our stay, which we will happily show you. We look forward to your responses. 

This resort was absolutely gorgeous... it was meticulous; the service was excellent, the food was delicious... there were lots of choices at the buffet...lots of beach loungers available.. loved the adults only side! I can’t wait to go back!

This was a very nice resort! The staff were pleasant and eager to help. The overall size of the resort was great, it only took 5 minutes to walk everywhere! Cant wait to take the kids with us next time. :)

Hotel and food were great. Buffet always had plenty of selection. Staff at reception were always helpful. Beach was clean but had to walk about 10 minutes down the coast to get to nice clear water -- for this reason only we would not return.

The grounds are simply beautiful & immaculate! From our beach front rooms the ocean views were amazing. Staff very helpful, pleasant. Food was good - drinks even better! Weather was beautiful. Overall a wonderful vacation.

The Grand Bahia Principe is a beautiful hotel well maintain and great services. The A la carte restaurants is very good. Thanks to everyone for the good services that made our stay more enjoyable. I will recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed it, despite what many others had to say.. staff were nice.. entertainment was pretty good.. food was decent. yes water was murky directly on the resort but if you walk further down. its completely clear waters and the area is even quieter and nicer..

We had a good week here but would probably choose a higher end hotel the next time. Beach was not the clear crystal blue waters we expected, but once you were over that we enjoyed it. Although there are signs all over not to save huts and chairs, they are reserved by inconsiderate people, who seem to save their spots but not show up until hours later. No beach or pool service. We always tipped the staff but noticed that Unless you tip, you won’t get the best service. Buffet was good with enough variety. We went to all 3 a la Carter’s, the Italian was the best. Not just for food, but for excellent , attentive and friendly service. The other 2 a la cartes seemed in a hurry to get us out, not friendly and menu was limited. Entertainment was pretty good, excellent beach party. Big issue was that the lobby bar would shut down at 11pm and the lights were all shut off. You had to sit in the dark to finish your drink. And if you wanted to stay up, it was either go back to your room or go to the disco. This part was very disappointing as it would have been nice to sit in lobby area, enjoy time with friends and have a few drinks. Rooms were ok. Definitely need a makeover. All plug outlets were broken, so it was hard to use coffee machine, watch tv, iron or plug in your phone charger. There is no hot water... everyday was a lukewarm shower. Tip your maid and you’ll get good service. We had enough towels everyday. We did pay extra for the royal golden service. This gave us a separate check in and designated staff to deal with if we had issues. Jose from Air Transat and Elisabeth from the hotel were wonderful!! There was premium alcohol here which we drank because i’m pretty sure the drinks were watered down. A lot of people noticed this. Stick with wine or beer. The power went out everyday , sometimes a few times day but only for a minute. Not sure why this occurred, but never longer than a few minutes. Overall we made the best of our time , room to improve but a nice vacation. Next time, we will choose a higher end property.

Hotel was very clean and staff was accommodating. If there was an issue they took care of it quickly. The French restaurant was amazing, although the Italian was a bit disappointing, it was good but was expecting better. The buffet was very good although almost the same items.

This is the third Bahia i have went to and by far the worse . services was terrible day one TV and Air con not working day 2 no hot water called 3 times to get some one to come fix it took them 3 hours and my last call yelling at them because they kept lying to me saying someone is on there way Power goes out every day at least twice .Food was same every day no change . will never go back and will tell everyone i know never to go there

This is a very nice hotel, friendly staff, very clean. I was with royal golden, worth the upgrade fee. Room right on the beach. Would definitely go back. Ride to the airport and back is close, checkin and check out was easy. Getting the right room a little frustrating but just keep insisting

Hotel was well attended to re: grounds, pools, and rooms. Service in buffet and beach restaurant I'd say was fair. Not much attention was given during the vacation - hence not much tipping. The Golden Service upgrade was very helpful - for check in, access to computers, and assistance with medical appointment and medicine when my daughter was sick.

Stayed on the family side and had no issues with kids, beautiful pool and beach, however water is a little difficult to enter and water is murky due to river located nearby . Wasn’t impressed with restaurants but the main buffet was good. Rooms are nice

Beautiful well kept grounds, good food, friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation. We were looking to escape winter in Ontario and feel we could not have made a better choice. We hope to return.

This resort was excellent! Amazing services, staff, entertainment, beautiful views and extremely clean. I would definitely recommend this resort to others. I loved that it is especially family friendly. I would love to go back!

Travelled last week in January. Stayed in Royal Golden and room was fantastic with beach view. The pool was very nice. Beach is ok. Would like to be closer to a town to visit but I was there to relax. Service was very good everywhere and would go back!

Beautiful grounds, small beach, water was not clear like you would expect for being on the Caribbean. We had our room fumigated as I found 2 cockroaches hotel very prompt with that. Food and drinks were good. Staff very friendly and courteous, entertainment was good. Pool was great.

Very nice place, the rooms are huge and clean, the food is very good and fresh , a lot of activities , the beach is nice with palm trees , service also very good ,we enjoy our stay and we will return for sure

I was Bahias biggest booster,stayed at P.Plata,Punta Cana and Mayin Bahias over the past decade and loved them all.After a few years away figured lets go back but to La Romana,it was not the same. Staff was friendly but in the past they were more outgoing in making connections and getting people involved in activities and events.The events and shows were always easily identified and able to locate on the premises, this time there was confusion and hard to locate where they were being held by guests and staff.Trying to get a drink at all facilities was near impossible because the staff did not approach to ask you if you would like something with your dinner or lunch and if they did try to order an orange soda,did not exists and they looked confused by your request.However the food was fantastic as always and the rooms and hotel were spotless.The NYE event was outstanding they put on!! Maybe the past expectations were set to high?

This was our first time staying at a Grand Bahia Principe Resort and first time in La Romana. This hotel chain is well staffed with friendly people and beautiful accommodations for the price point. The grounds were immaculately appointed and maintained. Well worth it for families with great amenities, shops, pools and restaurants. This vacation was booked via Air Canada through Trip Central and we are all very satisfied. Will book through this agency again and will probably return to the Dominican again based on our experience. Carvalho Family

We found the resort very clean, well landscaped and welcoming. Food offered was varied and different themes dictated the menu each day. Rooms were well organized and clean. Housekeeping staff was excellent and aimed to please. We booked the Royal Golden package and found this was unnecessary. Alcohol choices were the same for all guests and there were “premium” brands available at an extra cost. The only advantage to our upgrade was bathrobe, slippers, room service and access to a lounge which actually seated only four people and was simply part of the office used by the Transat representative and a hotel liaison. Evening entertainment resembled most other Dominican resorts except the one evening the Acrobatics act was excellent. Although the resort was not crowded, we still found it necessary to towel our beach chairs early in the morning to ensure a shaded location. This was probably the most disappointing aspect of our two weeks. Despite the signs posted on the palapa, we found it necessary to save a spot and staff did not enforce the “no saving” of chairs. Disappointing. Also the beach was heavily used by guests of the sister resort, the Bouginville, although we were told we could not use their beach. Again, simple enforcement of rules would eleviate problems. Regarding the specialty restaurants, nothing special and the Asian was, by far, the most disappointing. Not an Asian menu and extremely slow service combined with incorrect orders made it a memorable evening. We would return booking the regular package and possibly 10 days rather than 14.

2nd time to this resort in less than a year ... Service was great. Always could find something to eat in the buffet. A la carte are excellent. If you can speak and understand Spanish it is to your advantage as some of the staff don't speak French or English.

We were quite happy with our stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bougainville. We had originally purchased the trip for the family resort Grand Bahia Principe La Romana but upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised that we had be upgraded to the Adult Only resort. We had stayed there the previous year and and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were also surprised that many of the staff remembered us especially my husband who has a very distinct moustache that they all loved. The staff was very attentive to our every need and we can't say enough about the Animation staff they always encouraged us to participate in the activities and actually remembered our names by the end of our vacation. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The al a carte restaurants were very good, and the buffet was good as well.

First time to La Romana. We absolutely adored the Grand Bahia Principe. The food selection and freshness was just amazing. The buffet was sometimes better than the A la carte restaurants (French Restaurant was the best). We found that the smiles were not as easy on the staff as Samana's Bahia Principe but once they realized we loved to see them smile ... we got plenty of them. The ONLY thing we would change was the fact that some staff could not converse with use at all. Our Spanish is not very good and they could not understand English or French... we thought it must be pretty boring for them not to be able to talk to anyone...

The grounds are stunning. Rooms are very clean. Food was so good and plenty of it and lots of variety. The pool was huge and had lots of activities going on. Beautiful place. Would definetly go back here. Super friendly staff and very accomodating for our group of 22.

Staff very good to work with , grounds were great and well kept, beach not so great many sea weeds but they tried to control great food long distance from airport very good time would recommend VIP pack

Rooms are large and very clean, grounds are immaculate, very clean, large beach with plenty of palm trees, chairs and huts. The water is murky due to a river which flows into the bay but warm with a few rocks so step lightly when getting in. Food was good to very good. Hit and miss with warm or hot food. Good selection. A la cartes were very good. The service in the buffet was hit and miss. The wait staff serve, clean and set tables so they may be busy doing other chores rather than serve drinks, water etc.... Royal Golden staff were exceptional. Had few issues with the room and when reported the problems were fixed immediately with follow up calls from the front desk.

The grounds are impeccable there is always someone cleaning, trimming,fixing and so on. The staff for the most part are professional and very friendly. The food is good and plenty of choices even for the fussy eater.The A La Cartes were excellent with superior attention to detail. The bars had premium drinks that was included in our package. The pool was warm and clean. The room service was top notch. The water pressure was not real good but we were on vacation so instead of a 5 minute shower we had a 10 minute shower. Lol The rooms are very comfortable,clean and in good condition. The service in the buffet area was slow to non existent we often left without being asked if we would like water,juice or coffee we only ate there at breakfast. We had lunch at the ocean buffet the service there was much better. The only real drawback was that the water in the ocean was not of Carribean quality. We were in a bay with a river dumping into it which caused silt to be stirred up therefore the water was murky but we still used the ocean daily. Overall this is definitely a 4 star resort and would recommend it to anyone but I would disclose the fact of the clarity of the ocean.

This resort was amazing. Grounds were impeccably maintained. The food was great always find something you like at the buffet. Amazing desserts. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous on the golden area close to the beach with great photos of sunrise and sunset. Beach was clean and calm beautiful despite what the reviews said. Shout out to Achilies a lobby manager. So many great people!!!

We Just returned from our very first holiday and it couldn't have been any better . We traveled with another couple who had been to Grand Bahia la Romana before and loved it . They were right The food was excellent the grounds were beautiful the beach was big and very clean and not too busy The staff was friendly as helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much we had never been away before and were totally spoiled at this resort . The rooms were large suites and very clean . Entertainment was good the activities by the animation team were fun and kept the day full of laughs and excitment. We are looking forward to returning next year . Would Recommend this resort to anyone young or old . Lots to do or just relax .

Stayed at the Bahia Principle La Romana Jan 13th for a week. Overall the resort was wonderful. The Staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the food was great. It's not one of the mega resorts, so no problem getting lounge chairs at the pool. Also no issues getting reservations at the a la carte restaurants. The Brazilian and French restaurant were my favorites. The beach was nice, however the water clarity was very poor. Was not able to snorkel of the beach. Ended up booking an excursion to Catalina Island with the hotel not Air-transit. Overall it was a great experience, however the mandatory life jackets used during snorkeling were poor. They should have used proper vests instead of the standard Life jacket tied around your waist. Still very enjoyable and saw lots of fish. Also was able to snorkel during the 4 hour stay at the Island. This was well worth the money. Aside from the poor water clarity at the resort it was a wonderful vacation. If you are not planning to snorkel, i would recommend this resort.

We stayed at La Romana from Jan. 12-19, 2018. We had visited the resort exactly one year earlier and enjoyed it so much we decided to return. The resort itself is very nice, including the pool area, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The beach is great, although the water is a bit murky because of the nearby river outflow. But we are more pool people so it wasn't an issue for us. The food in the buffet is quite good with considerable variety. Occasionally items were warm or even hot. But often, as seems to be common in resorts we've stayed at in the Dominican and Mexico as well as elsewhere in the Caribbean, the food is barely warm if not cold. We found service, whether for coffee in the morning or water and wine for lunch and dinner, to be hit and miss: sometimes a server was at our table almost immediately asking for our choice of beverage; other times we had to reach out to him or her for service. We found the same lack of consistent service at the Lobby Bar and the Pool Bar. Having said that, some of the servers were terrific, especially Yonilka at the Lobby Bar. She always had a smile and gave us great service. We enjoyed the food and service at the two a'la cartes we visited: le Gourmet and el Pescador. As we did for our first visit to this Bahia Principe, we upgraded to Royal Golden and once again it paid off. We had a couple of issues with our room and once again, the wonderful women at the Royal Golden Lounge quickly addressed our concerns and we were moved to a neighbouring building (3800) with a gorgeous second floor view of the beach. Darliana, Gloria and Yatnna were great. And special mention has to go to Elizabeth who quickly and efficiently made sure things got fixed! Also with Royal Golden, the room safe is included in the cost. We had rain during four of our seven days but despite that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider a third visit.

If you are looking for a relaxing family getaway, than this resort should be on your short list. Great pool, service, food and cleanliness is what you would expect and get from this 4 & 5 star resort. It is a bit of a commute from the airport (about 90 km's) so some snacks on your carryon will go a long way. The beach is what it is. It is not one of those breath taking turquoise water white sand beaches you see in advertisements. It is a good beach to be fair.

Overall the resort was great. We paid 20.00 a night extra to stay on the Adult side..well worth the upgrade. The only complaint was the resturant bookings were very late..I booked all of them as soon as I got there. There was not much entertainment in the lobby bar. Thank god the guys from Halifax were there entertaining part of the week. All in all we were pleased with our stay. Oh the other thing was I tried t get info for the golf before I left.. that I did not get. Thanks Gina

Our original stay was in the Royal Golden section of GBP LA Romana. Part way through we upgraded and went over to Luxury Bouganville side. Would recommend that resort over the regular GBP everyday of the week. Rooms and grounds on both resorts were very clean. Food was OK, pools were nice. Beach is surprisingly very nice. Water as most people have been saying is murky but not a big problem. The most troubling part of this trip was the HUGE language barrier that exists. We've been to close to 10 resorts in the DR, Cuba and Mexico over the years and this was by far the worst for communicating with staff. This led to a lot of confusion, misrepresentation and perhaps some unintended dishonesty from staff. Overall it lessened the experience and would prevent us from returning to this area of the DR.

This resort is clean, staff are friendly, food is ok But what the pictures don't show you is visible from the beach of this resort is a factory, and industrial smoke. If I had known that this would be visible I would have never gone to this resort. The water is also murky, not that nice blue that you want. We were also suckered into a time share presentation, waste of time. go somewhere else, learn from my mistake. Be warned the pictures do not show you the whole, real picture...if you are paying thousands of dollars to go on a resort vacation go somewhere else.

The whole property is amazing and very spacious. We never had to wait in line-ups because the service was amazing. The best part of the Hotel is the people (staff). The animation team is amazing!! Teddy Bear and Mantaraya were my favorites because they made me feel so special and I was never bored because they made sure I would participate in all the events! The Mgmt team also paid special attention to all of us which was amazing. I will be returning to this property for sure because of all the staff is amazing! A lot of properties are the same but the people can make the property amazing which was the case for this great Hotel. See ya soon!!

Clean, presentable. Staff is constantly working on keeping up the place - lobby, grounds. Beautiful pool area. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. However, the lighting in the room and bathroom is below the average. The shower only has half door, causing the water to splash all over the floor when you're taking shower. No hot water sometimes. Restaurants are great, especially the Italian one. Buffet is good too. Always can find something to your taste. Staff is friendly and customer service oriented for the most part The only biggest disappointment was the muddy water in the ocean. Crystal clear Caribbean water is the number one reason for choosing my destination and this hotel missed the mark. Thus, will not be returning and will not recommend to someone who is looking for a great beach experience.

Very impressed with the size of the rooms, cleanliness of the site and the great service. Staff was very polite. Enjoyed the buffets and restaurants, especially La Corales (Brazilian steakhouse). Pool was warm and there were always lounge chairs available somewhere. The beach was clean and we took walks every day. Not the typical blue water like in Punta Cana, the water was murky but clean and warm. Would definitely recommend this resort and would return.

This resort is...small..but not too small..quiet..relaxing...food was great..lots to choose from on the buffet..ala carts were delicious..the staff are always friendly and helpful.. Shows in the evening were entertaining..beach area is clean and lots of chairs and huts for sunning..
