We had a wonderful time at the Smugglers' Cove and Spa. The people were courteous and very nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, always something different to try. Kids had a huge club area, their own pool (there were 4 others!) and many activities. We loved it.

hard to give a review on a property that is being torn down and replaced with a new facility and name. The property itself is one of the largest of any that I have seen in the Caribbean. It will be interesting to see the new hotel when it opens in fall of 2016

And nice resort for being dated, the grounds were clean as where the rooms. Food was very good and the staff that was left where helpful. The sunsets where very beautiful, it will be interesting to see the new resort being built in 18 months as will be the price, very nice island...

Nice resort however, rooms were in need of a makeover. Food was very delicious but small portions at the restaurants. Nice resort if you're looking for a more quiet type of vacation. Horse ride on the beach was awesome!

Recently stayed for one week at Smuggler's Cove, St. Lucia. From an overall value perspective the price was right. We would have been disappointed had we paid more. Some of the downside will follow in this review. Our room was upgraded, apparently. All that meant was that we had a vaulted ceiling. The fridge didn't work, the air conditioner/split wasn't up to par, the shower didn't give us a spray large enough to get the soap off of us. My sister tried to change the spray setting and the head fell off. This turned out to be a blessing since more water was able to come out of the spigot. The tea kettle required an adaptor that I had to get from the front desk and I feel certain most other people would have given up trying to find an outlet that the thing fit since it didn't exist. The "in room safe" was nice to have. Anyone travelling to the North end of the island should be prepared for a long ride twisting and turning throughout the mountainous terrain. If you suffer with motion sickness do yourself a favour and take something before getting on that bus. They will not stop and our ride turned into the "Vomit Comet". Four people vomited and there was no way to clean them up and the bus driver wasn't about to stop. And then they expect a tip for the great ride? Sure. There was no restroom on the bus we were on. The Sunwing rep was good enough to put me at the front of the bus on the way back. Bless her heart. On the resort the walkway's were difficult to walk on especially for my sister who had a bad knee because they were pitched, uneven and cracked. One woman fell because she tripped on the broken sidewalk. The resort itself was very clean, our room was acceptable but the tub was dirty looking however the age of it may have factored in. The room was tired and the faucets pitted, but since they were tearing the place down who cared clearly. Service was VERY slow at the bar's. If you were lucky you might get one of the better server's like Vince, Keitha(female), Joanne, and Javin. Getting drunk would never happen since you couldn't get drinks quickly enough. I have been to many countries like Aruba, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Europe. NEVER in my experience have I been treated with such disdain by the female staff at the bar or in some of the restaurants. Tipping made NO difference and finally I gave up. The older woman who worked the bar on the day of our arrival would not serve me. She saw me walking away eventually and chased after me telling me " I am coming baby". Several days later I approached the bar in the morning and the same old lady server saw me, was likely three feet away and she turned to the younger co-worker and told her to tell me that the bar didn't open for fifteen minutes. How absolutely inappropriate when she works in the service industry. The new owner would be wise not to hire her back if they believe in customer service. I wanted to tell her what I thought of her nasty attitude but was afraid I would be punished by the other's. The resort was closing on April 11 for good and many staff were likely upset over this. Some didn't let it impact how they treated you, and I don't know if that is what her issue was but considering I hadn't ever uttered a word to her other than telling her it was okay I would wait my turn to get a drink as I could see she was serving others, she seemed to have some issue with me. Asking for service was an anxiety provoking experience when there were female bartender's and server's for the most part. The look they would shoot you was something I have never experienced. At the bars you couldn't even get water until they would put out a carafe which would empty quickly. St. Lucia is much like Aruba, hot, hot, and hotter. Water one would think could be made available freely. As for ice there was no access to it other than at the bar. The entire process in the restaurants was disjointed. Three different people offering water and no one knowing what their role was. Goodness help you if you asked for a second helping of a dish you enjoyed. My sister and I were shocked at the nasty look we got for asking for another melon salad while seated in the Italian restaurant at lunch time. This added to the disappointment while sitting in the Al a carte for lunch, and was more often than not the experience in the buffet. Several times we left without getting our food let alone drinks. Juices were watered down. The quality and selection of the food was AMAZING for the first four days. We didn't find any need to go to the al a cartes, then it appeared they were providing less and less selection as the days went on. They offered mimosa's on Easter and a few other days. We arrived for breakfast at 8am one morning and were told there was no champagne left. Easter day the male server was happy to provide you with a glass full. Bryan was pleasant and joyful. The last day we were there the woman gave me and my sister the equivalent of about an ounce of champagne and one of orange juice. Then we saw men walking in with glasses full. Clearly some form in inequality existed. Sadly, while at the airport we spoke with a young couple who stayed at Sandal's for their honeymoon and she also could get no service at the bars. Not a warm and fuzzy feeling that makes me want to ever go back to St.Lucia. Pools at the resort were gorgeous. The beach was very short for walking in my opinion. There were plenty of chairs to lounge in so seating wasn't an issue. The bugs were awful however I think this is generally all over in St. Lucia. On our resort people were so bitten up by mosquitoes they were sick. Most of the bites I observed looked like chigger bites. Some thought sand fleas however they never observed them while being bitten so I suspected that it was indeed chiggers.This is no fault of the resort. The rotten attitudes of many staff including one girl who worked in the tuck shop, was totally the fault of management. There were many who don't deserve to work at a resort. They likely shouldn't work with human's. Management had to know what their staff could be like and failed to reign them in! Again I think staff did what they wanted for who they wanted, when they wanted, and that is not acceptable. Plans for the new and improved resort include a six story building in the location of the current pools to overlook the beach. Honestly the set up with the bungalows was great. The place really was a paradise of the past. The sky scraper idea I think will destroy what the resort was meant to be and could be with some TLC and new staff. So I think sending customers to a resort that you know is closing is a major faux pas on the part of any travel agency. If Smuggler's Cove was staying open would I suggest people go there? Honestly, I don't know. The attitudes turned me off completely and I would rather spend my holiday where I am made to feel welcomed.

The resort is beautiful our room was in a perfect location close to everything. The food and drinks were one of the best that we have had at an all inclusive (and we have stayed at various 5 star resorts). Considering this resort is closing in a couple of weeks the majority of the staff were helpful and friendly.

The rooms were very clean, excellent food and the accommodation was great. Employees gave a great service and were very helpful. The pools were great and enough chairs to lounge, but the beach was not the greatest.

Never seen such a beautiful layout for a resort, the bungalows were adorable. Sad to see it being changed starting in April. Awesome Staff, food and service. Thanks to Andreas for fun karaoke and crazy 8's :)!! OH and Elfrida for the perfect BBC's! Great entertainment too! Dancers were so talented! Fire eaters were fantastic. Long bus ride to the resort but it's just like a free tour of the beautiful lush island. Oh and BUG spray is needed. Those mosquitoes were quite hungry at night.

Nice resort in the northern part of the island at approx. 90 min from international airport. The resort is one the first in St.Lucia, unfortunately it needs a lot of TLC.. The resort has been bought by Blue Diamond and is going to be knocked down!! It is estimated that the construction of the new resort will take anywhere between 18 to 24 months to rebuild. Those wishing to go to Smugglers Cove better go real soon because the resort is closing in April! I liked my stay, the staff was really nice, the food was very good but the beach was very rocky, please be careful!!! If the resort is revamped and the beach is fixed expect to pay big bucks to return to the resort...

The resort is gorgeous, brand new. Lobby is amazing and lobby bar is huge with a great view of the ocean. Rooms were big and nice, shower was awesome. Food at the a la carts us very good, dinner at the buffet is terrible with absolutely no labels. Hotel only lets you book 3 a la carts which I did not like. Pools are gorgeous. resort was not staffed properly yet so there was very long lines for everything... Food, drinks, money exchange, etc. beach was absolutely gorgeous.

This is a three star at best. The staff was great, and the food was satisfactory- something for everyone on the buffet. The beds were okay but the room had ants In the bathroom. Nice towels! Need water shoes to wade into the sea as the shoreline is full of rocks. Good nighttime entertainment but no dance club.

The grounds were kept clean and tidy; the food was excellent (good variety); the rooms were clean but they need updates; and the people were friendly. The view of the ocean was beautiful. To bad that they are tearing down this hotel.

The 46 acre property is fantastic and offers an opportunity to get away while still onsite. The room we stayed in was small but clean and functional. The food was good at all four restaurants. Nightly entertainment was diverse and fun. Can't wait to see the planned revamp.

It is an affordable, clean, quiet 3.5 star resort with delicious food! A great "home base" to discover the most beautiful island in the Caribbean! Long (1.5 hrs) but beautiful drive to the resort. Unfortunately the 5-star Royalton Resorts chain has bought it and will be demolishing all the existing buildings, as of May 2015, and rebuilding. It will NOT be affordable anymore. Book now! My family would have loved to go back next year. :(

The hotel is great . Just had a little trouble with the room in the beginning but everything got settled in a day. Staff very attentive and friendly. Beach is beautiful but there was a shortage of chairs on the beach but once you got settled it was fantastic. Food also was great.

The food was excellent at the buffet and the reserved restaurants. My husband and I enjoyed full body massages, worth every penny. The staff were friendly and always smiling. We would go back in a heartbeat.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at St.Lucia! The food was fantastic along with all the super nice people we met. The beach was absolutely beautiful, quiet and everything was super clean. Not a huge resort but perfect for what we were looking for.

We had a wonderful time in beautiful St Lucia. The grounds are nice at Smugglers Cove. The rooms were clean and staff very friendly especially since they have no job by April. When you get your room, check that the lock on sliding door works and you have a bar to go across it. One couple in our group had money stolen because sliding door lock did not work. The food was very good at all the restaurants. The Asian was our favourite! They could use more loungers at pool and beach. Banana boat was fun free entertainment. This will be a beautiful location for the rebuild, but I'm pretty sure we won't be able to afford it! Glad we had the chance to visit now

The Resort grounds (pools and beach) and weather were the best part of our trip. We understand the Resort is being torn down in April so this will explain our comments. Our room was very dated and the washroom in need of repairs. The walkways and decking all over the resort were is dire need of replacement. You had to be very careful walking on the resort. The Resort made a big sell on the local "Street Party" and proceeded to charge $15.00 US per person for the 5 minute ride in and back to a 1/2 hour experience.(longer than we wanted to be there for) Not something I would recommend. The food was okay. What you would expect at a buffet. Nothing to brag about. The three restaurants were a little better experience. We were very surprised with the staff. We did not run into many of the staff that would actually smile or seemed to enjoy doing what they were doing. The 90 minute ride to and from the Airport is not something we enjoy doing on a vacation either Excursions through the Resort were very expensive so we arranged our own boating trip and shopping expedition Both of us were VERY bothered by the bugs and mosquitos. We are still scratching 4 days after arriving home

An older hotel which is apparently being renovated this April...but the food was great, staff very friendly. Lots of walking uphill depending where your villa is located. One of the cheaper St. Lucia hotels but worth it to get a taste of the country. If you expect 5 star everything then wait til after the renos. We were overall very happy.

Okay so I wasn't going to write this because it's kinda moot anyway. We did know that the hotel was under new ownership and I was worried that it would be under construction. It is not. And that is because it is going to be levelled in April. Had I known that I would have worried that the maintenance wouldn't be up to date or the staff would be upset but we had a great time, having managed our expectations and knowing that the cost is about half of the next closest resort in price in St. Lucia and it is billed as a 3* or 3.5*. But I am going to write this because if you are on a budget and you can get to this destination before the end of March, I think you'll be glad you did. We flew Sunwing, on schedule both ways. We knew about the 1.5 hour drive to the resort. I should say up front that I do not generally like all inclusive resorts but we were a family of 8 traveling and thought this was our best bet. Don't be fooled by the 40 km distance or whatever on the map - this is a 90 minute drive to the airport. And it's treacherous. We were picked up timely by the bus but that ride following our 5.5 hour flight is a bit much to take. Upon arrival, our rooms were quickly assigned and all 4 of our rooms were within the same 6 room complex, which is also a first for us. We were surprised to find the fridge empty at an all inclusive. It turns out the water is fine to drink and there are no bottles of beer or cans of pop available. We were pleased to confirm that there are no restrictions on reservations at the restaurants - that's a bonus. We dined twice at the Tratoria, once at Cafe Asia (the best), twice at the Buffet and twice at the Waterside. All the food is much better than you would expect - even the buffet was good. Cafe Asia was not waterfront but the food is exceptional and it's quiet. The music at the other two restaurants is really loud and annoying - we heard the same Whitney Houston songs non stop and the waitresses sing along like it's karaoke night. And the service is generally slow - so if you don't want to sit and wait, you'll be fine at the buffet. Another unexpected bonus (although we probably read it we didn't expect it) is that the watersports are included. We were travelling with two teens who water skied (and also did archery) and we used the kayaks and rode on the banana boat. You don't get this at an all inclusive normally - at least at this price point. There is also a lap pool out by the gym which my nephew made use of. The gym - is there. You can tell this place was once something. It is no longer attended but there was once a racquet club and a nice gym and a deck and probably bar. I was able to make use of the gym a bit. It's better than nothing at all. The rooms are tired, as expected. To me there are three things you require from a room - a comfortable bed, working a/c and hot water. And all of this was absolutely fine. And the resort is quieter than others we've been to - no echoing as it's all on one floor. And there's a spot to sit out back. The pools are clean and attended and we spent all of our time there. We found that we were not harassed with a lot of picture taking or trying to sell us things - I think they are on "sustain" mode and not really selling very hard. Again, this was fortuitous timing (I believe). One thing that really annoyed me was the gas powered, really loud leaf blowing that went on. It was like shooting flies with a 22. I was in the gym watching (and listening!) as an employee spent half an hour chasing a handful of leaves around the tennis court. Surely there's a more environmentally friendly way to do this? A rake or broom perhaps? And of course the drinks are WATERED down. As expected. We had our own insulated glasses that they were happy to let us use. Two doubles = close to a drink. Create your own recipe! We did a tour with a taxi for one day and I wish we had not. It was just too much driving for what we were able to see. We were gone 8 hours - lots of traffic and lots of exhaust fumes. Stay by the pool and relax is my advice. All in all, a good value for our family. I talked to other travelers who all agreed that at this price, you're doing fine to get a clean room and very good food included. Next year (or the year after) it'll be gone.

The amenities were getting old, but the housekeeping and groundseeping staff never let up. Even though it was a bit older (we heard they were closing for a renovation in June) the place was very well kept and really welcoming. The beach isn't huge and pristine white, but there's snorkelling right out front and lots of options for getting around the island. Lot's of great things to see as well. Bring our appetite too, the a la cartes and the buffet were all excellent.

Food was wonderful, staff was pleasant, resort was clean but tired and dated. Yes it needs to be reconstructed. Is a 3.5 star. Island was breathtaking and the excursions were good and reasonably priced. Last day (late afternoon or early evening) of holiday someone broke into our room, riffled through my suitcase and found the safe key and took all our money out of our wallets in the safe. This was very upsetting and a real violation. Very upsetting to discover upon our morning of departure and of course nothing could be done about it as we were leaving the resort within an hour. Resort personal said that the police would be called and they would follow up with us within a couple of days. We have been home now for 5 days and no contact/update from Smugglers Cover. Also, always wear water shoes when in the ocean as a few guests during our week of stay stepped on sea urchins in the water and were laid up for their holiday as they could not walk on their feet. Absolutely no signs on the beach to warn swimmers, extreme caution to be taken when in the ocean. For the price of the holiday it was fair, but do not leave your money or sage key unattended.

The resort was beautiful. I love that they had walk tours and all the water sports were included. The staff were all very friendly. I would go back in a heart beat. I like the layout of the rooms all on ground level. I would of liked if they had drink of the day. I was getting tired of having the same drink over and over as I couldn't think of another kind.

Food was very good. Rooms are clean and the staff are amazing. The resort is older but very well maintain. We enjoyed the beach and the pools. If you are travelling with children this is the resort for you.

Superb staff, excellent food, clean, comfortable, snorkeling not bad further out. Beach OK but would be crowded if resort was full. They are going to renovate this year to a 5 star high rise. What a pity.

3.5* (4 adults, 1 child, 2 rooms) Early January Considering the price we paid, I found this good value for our money. St-Lucia is a beautiful island to visit and it was well worth for us to have cheaper lodging and be able to visit a new place instead of going back to one of the usual suspects (Cuba, Mexico...) The hotel is very tired, and needs a complete overhaul. Bathroom faucets were in bad shape, all mangled and threatening to bu pulled out of the wall. The patio door requires two hand to open. Public bathroom door locks are all broken. The complete lack of pressure in the shower Mismatched chairs and tables in the buffet. I could go on and on... If these sort of things bother you, I strongly recommend you not go there. Now, the AC works and is not to noisy (much less then the wildlife!) The beds are comfortable and kind size, and they brought in a very nice double bed for our daughter to sleep in. The rooms have a nice size. The entire resort in impeccably clean. They must have the cleanest public bathroom I have seen since going to payed public bathrooms in Germany. The pools are nice, and we liked the layout with the pool near the beach where we could wash out the salt water at the end of the day. There is only a low faucet there for washing feets, a shower would be better. There was not much sand in that peticular pool, I guess they must clean it often. The beach is alright, it's on par with other beaches in St-Lucia. They do clean it up very well every morning, but there are a lot of rocks in the water. We liked the Smuggler Cove beach under the Cap maison hotel better, it's 5 minutes walk away, had clearer water and sand and huge waves. There are vendors on the beach, but we did not find them very annoying. The food at the hotel varied, but we had a few great nights at the Cove Restaurant buffet. We really loved the food at the French Night and the South American night. Lunch at the buffet was not so great, there is much less choice then for dinner. We preferred to go to the Italian place for lunch to get some Pizza or Pasta. One thing that we found lacking is that there is no always open Snack bar. They have some food out in heaters during the day, but it was not good. The week we went was very quiet. In general we had excellent service and the staff there is really nice. We left on a Sunday after a lot of new people came in on Saturday. We noticed they were completely unprepared for the number of customers for dinner on Saturday. The service was simply... absent. This is something management needs to work on. I do have a few things I really disliked: - In the rooms, there is no place to dry towels or bathing suits. Not in the bathroom, not outside. The two chairs outside and the shower pole just are not enough. - There is no concierge service. Whatever they do at reception, just does not cut it. I went with my father in law, he wanted to book the Golf and they did this reluctantly as if we were bothering them. I asked them to contact a tour operator for me and I was told to speak to the Nexus people even if it was not a tour from them. When I went to see the Nexus people they told me it was not a tour with them and would not book it... This is something the Concierge should handle. - The internet is slow and choppy... but yeah, it's the carrabean :)

Very nice room, a bit dated, but very clean with a sitting room, a bedroom and a bath. Lovely location. The grounds were clean and well kept with beautiful flowers. The workers were very friendly and were right there to help with any problems. The food was ok and we always found something to eat, especially the pizza! The entertainment was not so good, except for Friday night when there was a really good singer and a lot of dancing. The beach was a bit disappointing as I am a beach person and love the beaches in Cuba, but the 7 pools and a hot tub made up for the lack of a beautiful beach. And best of all the drink called a BBC! This only really sad thing is that this resort is going to be torn down and the lovely cottage style resort will be gone and replaced with the normal high story resorts on the island.

trip from airport is very long (2 hrs) but you get to see some great views of fishing villages and the rain forest. The resort was very dated but will be demolished and a new resort will be built. The food was excellent, the staff terrific, tours were outstanding especially catamaran trip to Soufriere

Beautiful landscaped gardens, clean and spacious rooms, free wifi available, nice and friendly staff, amazing views from the wedding gazebo, a la carte restaurant available for lunch and dinner, very good food and services provided, nice entertainment, well organized trips to see St Lucia and Martinique.

We came back on Saturday January 10th from our 35th anniversary vacation in St. Lucia. Smugglers Cove exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to please us. the food was delicious in all the restaurants. The beach is small and a little rocky but the view is spectacular. The pools are beautifully designed and very clean. Our room was close to everything and spotless with a very comfortable king size bed with lots of pillows. The grounds are beautiful and very welcoming with nice landscaping and we were so lucky that the weather was perfect for our entire stay. The sunset was captivating and majestic everyday!!!! Thank You Smuggler's Cove for our very memorable 35th ANNIVERSARY!!!!

The resort is old, some rooms should not be even used - no windows, small bathroom and toilet, anemic AC, etc. Overall resort shows its age. Management tries to compensate with above average service and tasty food. I would recommend this resort for someone looking for value in St Lucia (which is expensive island) and is not fussy about anything, don't expect 4 or 5 star resort facilities here. What we really liked was the Waterfront Restaurant, has beautiful view by the water for breakfast, and a la carte dinner. St Lucia is a nice island, worth going out of the resort and visiting.

I was a bit disappointed when we arrived at the hotel - some of the areas needed a bit of upgrading and the buffet seemed a little sparse. Within the first 24 hours, I fell in love with the place. Everything was so easy! We never needed to wait for anything. We could get from the restaurant to the beach to the pool to the bar in a few short steps...all with beautiful views of the cove. The staff was fantastic! The a la carte restaurants were easy to reserve and they served quality food. We lucked out with a room that was a 30-second walk from the central hub. However, even the rooms at the periphery of the hotel were no more than a 5-minute walk. The rooms are ground level in approximately 6-room blocks surrounded by nice lawns and gardens. We felt like we had a private lawn where we could watch the hummingbirds come and go...and we never saw or heard our neighbours despite a full hotel. Rumour has it that there will be a number of upgrades soon. I certainly hope they will keep the charm alive.

To begin with St Lucia is beautiful. Although the drive from the Airport is over an hour, this gives you an opportunity to see the beauty that is St Lucia. The minute you arrive at the resort every single employee you meet is working their hardest to ensure that your vacation is fabulous in every way. Every individual that I encountered was so friendly and so helpful and genuinely interested in speaking to their guests. Everything that I ate at this resort was delicious and the restaurants were amazing. I would come back again and again. I couldn't think of a single negative thing to say about this entire resort or the entire vacation.

Simply an amazing vacation. Loved the Hospitality, gourmet food and room (Premium room was spacious, well lit, comfortable bed, we didn't need to have brand new furniture and tiling to be happy with it; furniture was just fine). Yoga, archery, watersports, tennis and fitness room were available for free. Drinks and weather were great. Highly recommended!

The rooms are somewhat dated and worn, but they are keep clean. The staff is absolutely fantastic. They are ready to help with anything that you need. The food was very good at both the buffet and specialty restaurants. There was always something different.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing ! Bungalows were sufficient however we were at the very back of resort... far walk to back/forth up hill!!!! Beautiful small resort provided an intimate setting for those seeking same:) overall an enjoyable vacation . No major complaints!!

My boyfriend and I went to Smuggler's Cove Resort in February 2014 and stayed for 1 week. After the six hour flight from Montreal we finally arrived at the airport to which we were greeted by several camper-style mini vans ready to drive us to the resort. The drive was an hour and a half long. Overall we had a great time, every expectation was met. The room was lavished with rose petals when we walked in, the bed was comfy and we got premium t.v. stations like HBO and my fiance even got to watch the Olympic gold medal hockey game. Food at the Cove was good, if the lines were long I would walk past everyone and grab a plate, set myself up at the outside of the restaurant as I am not one for lines. The cats alongside the buffet were cute and many guests enjoyed feeding them bits of steak or tuna at times although some got mad. Food between meals was available, ice cream, pizza, hamburgers and hotdogs. Also we could come and go at the buffet as we pleased and on Creole food night we ate 3 suppers it was so good! Rodney Bay is a must-see, go to Super J and grab a big bottle of Denros Strong rum for 10$ usd, cartons of B&H for 20$ usd and the drive was 15$ usd each way but other guests had paid much more. We got locked out of the room one day because the keycard reader battery died but Marsha at management took care of us and we were sent carpenters who helped us get in and replaced the batteries. Bar lines were long at times. On the first day my fiance got lost on the resort and Jonathan the groundsman helped guide him to breakfast, they ended up striking a good friendship as the trip went on. All in all, Saint Lucia was fun and exciting, food was great and people were kind. The resort is massive in size, there are acres of exotic plants growing in the surrounding estate and a great golf course nearby.

This Resort is well established and well maintained. The Resort is set out like a Village with excellent walking paths and roads throughout. The Units are well equipped and refurbished. The Buffet Dining hall as well as the three A La Carte Restaurants are very well run and the fare is top quality. Serving staff at the A La Carte Restaurants are more interactive and Friendly. The Pools are all well maintained and the Brach area well paid out. There are plenty of activities to keep even the most ADDA tourists entertained. A Boat Tour of the East Coastline is the best way to see St Lucia. If you are looking for brand new and lots of Bling do not book here as it is a mature Resort for mature travellers.

Our arrival was not met with happy faces, but abrupt and rude. A banana peel stayed outside one of the cabin rooms the whole week we were there. It went from yellow to black. I had money stolen out of my suitcase. Many of the staff were not friendly and had unreadable faces. There were a few who were very nice. there was not a lot of in season fruit and veggies to taste.

We stayed at smugglers cove in st Lucia in April. First let me start by saying we had a great time. The only problem we had was our room. We booked an upgrade and there was 2 adults and a child. I was traveling with my mother and daughter. The first room we were given had one bed and a pull out couch. We asked to have two beds as we did pay prior to travel for upgrade and it took two days before we were given the proper room. The food was very good and there was something for everyone. The pool areas were fantastic and my daughter loved all they had. The beach was not so nice so if your looking for a really great beach this isn't for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay

This is a very beautiful resort the staff were great the rooms were spacious and very clean. It is a small resort but very well kept the grounds are beautiful. The food is excellent never had problems finding something everyone liked

We loved the size of this hotel. We did not need to catch a little train or boat to get across the site to our room like in other large hotels. The pool was literally in front of the beach. You could turn your chair to view the ocean and then turn it around to face the pool area. There were BBq's on the beach everyday to satisfy our hunger if we did not want to leave the pool/beach area. It was one of our best vacations lingering around the pool in the late afternoons, having a cocktail and playing a game of scrabble. The food was very delicious. The buffet room is smaller and you won't need to get lost finding food or your table. The staff provided the best service we have ever had. If you are in the young crowd, you might want something crazier and noisier. If you have a young baby or you work too hard and just need the sun, sound of the waves, good food, good service, no fuss holiday then this is the place. The hotel is older but for us, exactly what we needed. We only have one week of holiday available to us in January and we will be returning to Smugglers Cove again. The reason for the four star rating is to be aware of the beach swimming. The cove is beautiful but you definitely need beach shoes due to the coral. No danger to swim like on the Pacific coast (strong undertow) but you cannot walk into the water without protection on your feet. Even the airport is calm, simple and easy to arrive and leave. Everyone speaks English so if your Spanish is not up to speed, communicating is not stressful.
