The resort is very outdated. Felt like we stayed at a cheap motel. Room was very damp leaving the bed feeling wet and the sheets smelled musty like they never changed the sheets before we checked in. We actually had to ask them to change the sheets because it was so hard to sleep in without gagging. The showers were cold and the shower curtain had an awful smell. There were stains all over the washroom. We asked to have the washroom and room refreshed as the smell was so bad but nothing was done. Our TV literally turned on and off by itself freaking out my husband LOL (found it funny but quite annoying). The grounds of the resort was pretty but again outdated. We liked that the resort was small and close to everything but there is not much to do at this resort. No entertainment at all except for the hour of entertainment at night in the lobby. Staff at the buffet and restaurants were amazing, very friendly. The food at the buffet was good, small selection which is good so there isn't much wastage. The Oriental restaurant was good but the Italian restaurant was not good at all, well at least to our taste. I couldn't wait to leave the resort due to the poor state of our room, I could not wait to get home to have a hot shower and sleep in a clean bed.

Everything was excellent except the rooms are old and no sports activities in the facility. The staff are wonderful, friendly,accommodating and pleasant to talk to except for the air transit holiday rep.

We were very pleased with the service and food provided by the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and there was always a alot of different options to chose from. The majority of other guests were 60+ in age, so there isn't much of a 'nightlife' at the resort, but there the bartenders were very friendly and let us play our own music. Overall a lovely trip!

Before going to this resort we read the many mixed reviews available on the internet but decided to give it a try anyway. We're very glad that we did, we had a wonderful week at the St. Lucian. We seldom go to all inclusives and usually stay at local hotels in the countries that we visit. The St. Lucian felt very much like this... we got to know most of the staff by their first names and found out a lot about the island and local life from them. The hotel wasn't very busy while we were there so this might be different during the peak mid-winter season. Yes, the hotel is a bit tired in places but we always felt comfortable there and we definitely liked the idea that we were in the Caribbean... not an American style hotel plunked down on the beach. The room was basic but comfortable. Most of the other patrons were Brits over forty, many of whom were annual visitors or young families. We're retired Canadians and this suited us just fine, the evenings were quiet and we were able to really relax. The highlight of the trip was the availability of the beach. It was right at the foot of the hotel. We could leave all of our belongings in the room and go to the beach in our swimsuits, no worrying about leaving bags or wallets on the beach while we were in the water. We also love snorkelling and there's a very good reef that runs parallel to the hill just left of the resort. A five minute walk down the beach and you're good to go. We saw dozens of varieties of fish and a moderate amount of corals, both hard and soft. The reef consists mainly of large boulders that hug the shoreline and are only about ten feet underwater... perfect for snorkelling. All of the transfers to and from the airport to the hotel went smoothly and any problems that we had were attended to by the staff quickly. We would definitely return to the St. Lucian by Rex for an easy, relaxing week or two.

For a no frills hotel, we were quite comfortable. The room and facilities were clean and were kept clean during the day. The staff (from maintenance to administration) were all respectful and welcoming. I was impressed that no one passed without saying good day. The food was varied and flavourful with an infusion of culture at every meal, yum.

This hotel has a great location right on Redditt Beach, however the hotel needs some TLC , it looks tired, the room was OK, room 406, ,the AC worked well, however the bed was hard with an old mattress with coils that protruded through in some spots , the bathroom fixtures had been updated , but new tiles and grout did not match the old . The fan in the bathroom did not have a screen on it so the mosquito's and No see ums had easy access . The staff were great , they worked hard to make our stay good, they were friendly and helpful all of the time . The buffet restaurant was quite small , but that wasn't really an issue as the hotel was very quiet. The food was typically Caribbean which for us was not a problem, we only saw French fries once during our week which was great !!!. The choices of dishes at times left one wondering what to have to eat, however the salads were wonderful. We were able to get a last minute deal, we wouldn't pay full brochure prices for this hotel.

The Rex is a nice small hotel. The staff are pleasant, rooms are clean and the food is good. The location is fantastic. Our kids enjoyed the beach and the pool. The resort has a cottage feel which we appreciate.

Room was spacious with a big balcony, but bathroom requires a facelift. Hotel was clean and the personnel was nice. Sea has almost no waves and you can swim like in a pool. Some nights there was too much noise until 2 am from outside the resort. Once there was no water for a few hours and once there was no power for an hour or two.

The hotel is just the right size if you're going for relaxation. The food was a single buffet but that's all you needed. The food was great. The food was always covered, which I really appreciated. No one touching it with their dirty hands or sneezing on things. The beach was great. We walked it every day. Oh and the pool was nice and warm from the sun, but the hot tub was ICE cold because it was in the shade:)...The entertainment was fun, especially country singer and the people that stuck flames in their mouth...OMG...I have nothing but praise for the hotel.

Situated on a lovely beach ,walking distance to shops , Banks & restaurants . We had beach front room which was spacious and clean. Lovely balcony view! Food was ok . Plenty of variety during our 7 day stay .Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Great place for non smokers . Easy to take local bus to Castries for market . Also close to pigeon island, gros islet friday night street party and rainforest adventures .

The location of this hotel is the best on the beach!!!! Beach one of the best on the island!!!! Check in is quick and smooth- rum punch while you wait. Hotel- is in need of a refurbishment/ face lift- but this does not take away from the house keeping staff who clean daily and replace all linens! Our room was spacious and offered us all we needed- hairdryer, safe, fridge and great balcony and view!!! We got a sea view- though we paid for a garden view. No complaints here. NOTE- Hotel does not supply beach shade- you can take sun beds to the beach but all shade is ' rented' through the local vendors. Or just stay on hotel property under the shade of a palm tree or palapas. Pool is small, but clean and always busy. Dining in restaurant over the sea makes for a spectacular view!! Food is tasty and plentiful- though not a huge selection- no one goes hungry. Lots of local dishes and produce! At times, the lines for the hot grill get conjested- wait- you are on vacation- so all is not lost- the line subsides and you get your made to order dish :) Entertainment at night was quite good- and the audience really seemed to respond- never dull- but always over in good time - so you could always get a good nights sleep. Staff are friendly- and the longer you are there and make the effort- they really open up and acknowledge you. Even the local residents are friendly and love to chat and make conversation. The people of the island are so friendly- it is a great experience to just walk freely into town and feel welcome! There are several banks and lots of stores to visit. A wonderful marina- with many friendly faces. Local folk inviting you to ' hear them play'. NOTE- buy your local goods from the supermarkets NOT the airport- prices are much cheaper and in EC $$ vs American $$. All in all, the value is truly amazing- beach- one of the nicest- view- spectacular- food- tasty- people- friendly!!!

While our stay at the Rex Saint Lucian was great, the resort itself is very old and dated and in need of a facelift, which I believe is going to be done. The food was amazing and I am a very picky eater. I didn't really care for the al la cart restaurant but again I'm a picky eater. The beach is the best beach we have ever been too. Lots of scenery with the boats out in the bay. The booze left lots to be desired so we went out and bought our own which says it all. The nightly entertainment was very lame. The pool was a joke and you could never get a chair there so we spent everyday at the beach, which is something we have never done before but again the beach was awesome. Overall we made the best of it all. I would definitely go back to Saint Lucia but not to this resort.

the beach and service was great, but lack entertainment in the evening. which it had more activities in the resort. food was good but the location was awesome, it lack things to do and you need to get off the resort to keep busy. enjoy my stay

We booked with Air Canada. Shuttle was waiting. Easy drive and check in. Rooms are old but you get TV and hot showers. Food was really good, especially breakfast. Everyone was kind. Best part wast it's right on the beach which is a great beach. The only negative is the local men that hound you to give them money or buy something every day. They have a secunity but thy just stand there. I talked to someone at another resort and their security guard actually told them to go away.

The resort was just what we were looking for. It was very clean and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and, of course, the beach was wonderful. The hotel was located close to all shopping, etc. The only thing lacking was nightly entertainment and the pool could have been bigger. But overall, we had a lovely holiday. We certainly would return.

Great value for the money. It might not have all the bells and whistles like some resorts but the location is perfect, the staff are great and the people I met were fabulous. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Rooms are clean and the food was very good. Better than some 5 star I stayed in. Can't wait to go back...love St. LUCIA! If you are traveling alone as I was this is the perfect location.

The Saint Lucian by Rex is an old property. It can use some overhauling for sure. However, the rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. The maids don't steal like I've experienced at other resorts. The Island is beautiful. The beach is perfect. The only problem is that it is a public beach and you have allot of locals trying to sell you coconuts, Aloe Vera and woven baskets and hats. It becomes very annoying as they are constantly bothering you. I would still highly recommend seeing Saint Lucia, it is well worth it.

The Rex St. Lucian may be older but it was clean, the food was good the people friendly and the beach is the best on the island. Walking distance to Rodney Bay where there are shops, restaurants, bars and a casino. This resort was everything I needed it to be. Special thanks to Linus who took care of us during check in. Dress as you wished. Met some very nice guests from Europe/Canada/US/Scotland and staff. It is still a 3 star, but a good 3 star in our minds. Food was varied but standard. You could drink the tap water. Beach front property. clean. staff liked to joke around. Were tipped.

This hotel was rated a 3 star but I give a 5. The service was excellent. The food had lots of tasty variety. The asian restaurant decor and service made you feel special and the food dishes made you want come again another night.The view while you eating from the buffet area was superb.The rooms were so clean actually I saw our cleaning lady even wipe down our door frame and wash our balcony floor. How impressive is that! She also gave a lot of history about the island and things we would find interesting to do.The beach is immaculate and beautiful.The pool area had lots of chairs with umbrellas. The entertainment at night was fun. It got people involved. We sure had a few laughs. The only complain we had was no hot water a few nights but one call and it was remedied.The location of the hotel is within walking distance to a little shopping mall which was perfect. Did we like this hotel? Absolutely. Since we have been back we have told everyone this hotel is the best bang for tour bucks.

This is a 3 star hotel with 4 star staff and food. On the minus side, food was only available during meal times ( no snacks), on the plus side, the food was great. It was plentiful, well cooked and well seasoned. For lunch I usually just had the soup and sandwich (made fresh and grilled). While there were no organized activities that one may find at a larger resort, the beach was nice to walk on, Pigeon Island was close by, and the town was a 10min walk away. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

|The hotel was kept very clean. The washrooms within the hotel are nice and very clean. The one near the pool area needs a little sprucing up. The rooms are very clean, a good size with a big balconies but we did not have a dresser in the room, we mentioned it to the front desk and within the same day, they brought one to the room. The restaurant is beautiful by the seaside but I wish they had a snack bar throughout the day. All the staff members are very friendly and go out of there way to ensure that your stay is a pleasant experience. The only issue I had was the distance from the airport to the hotel...it takes 1.5 hours to get there and the roads are very winding so if you are prone to motion sickness/car sickness you better come prepared!

The first you need to know is the hotel is 90 minutes away from the airport. The drive can make you sick if you are subject to motion sickness,which I am. The staff at the Rex are the friendlies and most helpful. The accommodation are cleaned every day. There is only one main buffet restaurant on the complex with server great food. There is on a-la-cart restaurant which is called the Oriental you need to make a reservation. The beach is about 3 KM long and is good to walk, when the cruise ships come into the capital Castries the Cruise Liners bring the customers to this beach. You will know at 07:00 AM the day when they except the Cruise Liners because the beach is very active getting ready for the new arrivals (setting up beach chairs). The food is very good, if you have dietary needs the staff will take care of you needs. From the moment you arrive at the hotel till you leave you will find the staff very professional. They try to help every one but we all know some travelers are just not satisfied with anything, they always look for the negative. Say hello to the bar staff when you go Timothy,Allison,Edmund, the did a great job. This is a great place to visit we recommended the Rex we traveled from January 05 2015 to January 19 2015, J. Quite satisfactory about food, front desk and general services. However, the bathtub drainage in our room was very slow, although the issue was brought to the attention of the hotel. No improvement was made. Another drawback was the seadoo and speed boats cruising around TOO close to the swimmer area. This is dangerous. That said the resort is ideal for older people who want a quiet environment plus carefree meal plan. I will return to the resort.

Old hotel, normal food but what a great location. Perfect to take the local bus and visit all around. Nice local bars and restaurants nearby with a big grocery. Locals are not too much to bother with. When a cruise ship is in the port you might get alot of new friends on the beach.
