The hotel has an amazing beach, great buffet (including a pasta bar!), cold drinks and friendly staff! I stayed in one of the beachfront rooms with a huge balcony! There was nightly entertainment and it is in walking distance to many bars, restaurants and markets

Not much in terms of children’s club or activities but very beautiful resort. I was happy with my room good air conditioning. no milk for your coffee and the staff expect tips for every single thing they do

Hotel room and grounds are very good and clean.Although they had some problems with getting supplies in there ..I was able to adjust to it.;All in all I had a good time and I will return to this place. The next time though I hope the resort will be sold to a private developer who cares for the people.

We had very comfortable beds, and an ocean view. Coffee was on point. Only 1 day we had no coffee due to the machine being broken in the lobby and the coffee bar was without water. Both resolve by supper time. It was spring break for the Cubans and you could tell that they have done without. Manners were in short supply. The lobby bar would not serve you if you stood at the bar, but never politely told new or old guess, leaving some guest to be insulted by being ignored. A simple have a seat and we will be happy to serve you , could have gone a long way. A reconfiguration of the dinning area would alleviate the long lines for the buffets. There was always lots of food, just repetitive and not always appealing to our palates. we were given extra a la carte for the evenings, so this was appreciated. The resort wa s clean. Beer was plentiful, but as we are not drinkers we can not comment on other drinks. I have been to Kawama's before and I will return again.

In this nice hotel the room was good. The AC did not work well but, we opened the windows and it worked very well. The restaurant was nice. I really appreciated the hospitality and the great atmosphere that there was. Staff working there did our stay really good and lovely. Cuba does not have a lot of food and stuff due to the evil US blockade but, it was very kind and considered from Cuban people to provide us with enough food every single day. The beach is just gorgeous. The sea is beautiful and calm most of the time and the pools are very clean and nice. Bars were great, full of Cuban cocktails and a lot.of beer! The evening shows were spectacular. Very professional artists sharing with us their incredible talent and kindness. We will come back for sure!!!

The hotel grounds were good. Majority of staff very nice. Beach still amazing. I have been there about 7-8 times before but this will be my last time there. No pina colada's. They only had ice two days. Couldn't get clean bath towels. Asked for extra toilet paper as I got sick but was told they didn't have any. Was lucky that I had brought my own and also a box of kleenex. Was walking around the back of the Italian Restaurant to the beach and saw a couple of guys rinsing out the plastic cups with a hose and putting them on the sidewalk to dry.

The grounds were very nice and they were constantly working to keep it clean and improve. We saw changes in the two weeks we stayed. Dining room was always clean and set up nicely. Was an area to be able to sit outside and eat also. Staff very welcoming and courtieus. Food - well it is cuba and we knew what to expect. Pool was big with lots of loungers around. Could sit in mutted shade, full shade or full sun. Their was also a small pool if wanted to be away from people. Beach was awsome and were always loungers. Some trees for natural shade and umbrells. We stayed in the older rooms. They do need some tlc but were adequate. Not their to spend my time in the room. Their was a coffee hut that was available for relaxing with a cup before the dining room opened and no smoking. Coffee was also available in the lobby bar for those who liked to smoke. Nightly entertainment was good. Music be it day or evening was always way too loud.

People were great but the hotel is in very bad shape. Every thing is broken and patched together. The surface of things would be clean, as an example the table top would be clean but there was an inch of dirt on the legs. Sheets are clean but mold on the walls. If you found a toilet with a locking door, a toilet seat, and toilet paper you struck gold. Great people, great beach, and incredible sun rises and sun sets.

The grounds were awesome and well kept ...the staff were amazing friendly and accommodating ...the rooms well another matter we moved 3 times there were cockroaches in the second room sheets were not changed from whomever was before us... poop in the toilet ...third room was good good till last day then a sewer back up and not just us there was always people complaining about the rooms ...Overall vacation was good we met some amazing fellow travellers but no I would not return

Resort is nice people great no vodka no gin all week no food at all what was there was not good line up we’re long staff is only cooking small amounts of food at a time then running out after only one hour of service

Just got back from Cuba The resort is beautiful a very quiet, one which I enjoyed. Staff was wonderful and very polite. No need to say anything about the food because it is Cuba but we brought things and went out for pizza and spaghetti and had a great time. Will return there.

First time in Varadero and very much enjoyed our stay, the grounds were worked at everyday, staff and ground workers were very friendly. Pool was nice but spent most of our time at the amazing beach.

I had so much fun with new friends and old at Kawama for my 7th time! My room, the amount of food, and staff were wonderful. Give Kawama a try- you might find your “home away from home”! My room had two balconies, two beds, ac , and lots of hot water

I have been coming to kawama since 2012. Many changes some good some not so good. It is cuba. Pool and beaches and staff are amazing. Hotel needs some upgrading which they are doing. Bring necessities as in snacks/toilet paper/bug spray/incense/sugar/salt and pepper/sheets/beach towel

My 91 year old father and I enjoyed our stay at kawama. Some of the rooms have seen better days, but my fathers room was spacious, had hot water, a working safe and was on the ground floor as requested. Although our accommodations were initially far apart, the staff went out of their way to get me closer to his room. The towels were clean, the staff very helpful and friendly. The food was about what you expect at a 3 star in Cuba, but the fruit, eggs, bread were great. Missing butter, wine, pasta, but we were aware of shortages before we left. CUBA IS cuba, set your expectations before you leave. All in all, a clean, comfortable stay

Inedible food, very rundown and crumbling. Full of trip hazards. DO NOT GO HERE. This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed. 100% dump. Stay away from this roach motel. Disgusting experience on every level.

For a very old hotel it was clean and the staff were very friendly. The grounds were well looked after and the beach is amazing. We liked that the resort was close to other restaurants and the main market in Varadero

No complaints …. Standard but service, food, beach was amazing . Massage on site, accommodating to change of room. Invitation to Restaurants in the area . Staff remembered my name, always a smile .

Our room was right on the beach front. I could hear the waves at night which I find is truly relaxing. The employees were very kind and always there to help. There was entertainment every evening and very enjoyable to watch. (sometimes there was also entertainment in the day). There was always something to do (especially go to the beach or go for a walk to explore the area), and something to eat (as long as one is not too fussy) If you like simple condiments like butter, ketchup or mustard,,,I suggest to bring your own. We were in a superior room with lots of space and a safe to keep our valuables. The maid (s) were very friendly and helpful when we asked for more towels or toiletries. I will definitely be going to Kawama again in the future. (April -2024 already booked) I will be in a standard room my next time and I am sure it will be as enjoyable as my first time.

All hotel guests noticed the ABSENCE OF SOAP AND SHAMPOOS in their rooms and the shortage of TOWELS ALL SORTS (hands, bath, beach). Some were irrate other amused by this situation. Staff has good sense of humor and patience. Most of the food was edible. The service good, although some shortage of coffee and other beverages. Best feature of the hotel is the other guests, very easy to meet people. Hotel grounds and location very good. Walkable distances to everything.

The hotel was not good at all. But that was expected for a low star hotel. I didn't really care for the facilities. More so the beach, the people and the exploring. It was fine to sleep. Not to eat or stay hydrated. Our fridge never had any water. You couldn't find water bottles anywhere. Drinks and snacks were few and far between. The cleaning wasn't really cleaning with our dirty towels being folded up to reuse. It wasn't comfortable for necessities but ok to sleep.

This was our 6th visit to Kawama. We know that this is a 3 ⭐️ and know what to expect. The rooms are outdated. The buffet is so so. The A la carte dinners are much better and offer a higher quality of food. There are days when some food and drinks are not available but this happens all over cuba. On the up side, the beach is truly amazing. There are 2 pools. The staff go above and beyond to make your experience at their hotel a pleasant one. There are many repeater customers. August was not a good time to go. The temperature was extremely hot and most of the customers were locals on vacation . This hotel is close to many restaurants on the main street and a few steps from the double decker bus. The currency rate appears to change every other day. Best to exchange money on the ride to your hotel and at the market. Avoid the bank. Better to bring loonies and twoonies and $5's. Tipping a$5 bill is a lot right now. The staff may ask you to change the coins into dollar bills. Remember to bring new bills without folds or rips. All in all we really enjoy this hotel and have made many friends over the year. Best time to go is between November and April. Enjoy!

The beach was a great location because it was easy and convenient to access. The food is not the reason for vacationing at this resort. The room while tidy was not equipped with towels and customer service was lacking .

Club Kawama is beautiful and has much to offer eg.right on the ocean, large swimming pool,plentiful food and refreshments.Every evening we had some of the best entertainment I’ve ever seen.People here are friendly,and I felt safe.The downside is our private toilet did not flush when we arrived, the lid was resting against the wall, and the seat was unattached but resting on top of the toilet.After we complained,water was hooked up and the rest was rectified by removal and we sat on the porcelain of the toilet. In spite of this, I would return.Club Kawama has a special charm.

Sadly we have to say that this trip was terrible. Simply we love the antiquity of this resort but there was nothing but problems . No hot water for 13 days!! No beach towel exchange for 6 days. Only room towels available were 2 small 12 x 24 inch towels for 2 people. Safe did not work. Lack of food items is not a major issue.as we understand the lack of commodity in this country....but broken toaster in main dining room took 7 days to fix. The staff workers were lovely and so very friendly but upper management were rude and not interested in hearing about issues. Also this resort allows locals constantly to visit and we found them very difficult.. We will Never return to this resort.

I very much enjoyed my time at Kawama. I have been to this resort over ten times and will keep returning. I have made so many friends and we continue to talk after the vacation is over. The staff are always amazing just like family. The food is average but they still has shortages like butter, condiments and cheese and certain items.Cuba has and is in difficult times but always greets you pleasantly with s smile. Leida always goes above and beyond with makng sure everything is perfect for your stay. The airline was horrible and disappointing, I would never fly Swoop again. I am a very loyal guest and I will continue to return to this resort. It was such a pleasure and the only changes I would make would be to entertainment. Changes would be to bring back the Rock bands, Karaoke and better entertainment in the day like games and events.Renovatios are in progress and I can't wait to see the completion. Thank you Kawama, I am a content and happy to enjoy the resort again. I am looking at the first two weeks of April 2024.

This was trip 4 to Club Kawama. I love the resort! Friendly people and very gracious. We had plenty to eat and rooms were very clean. Beaches were clean snd lounge chars available. Pool was awesome and poolside was well kept. We felt safe and found they take security very seriously. Thank you for another wonderful stay!

Dear Leida and staff, It ahs been 2 months since we left your lovely resort. Our weather in Calgary has been snow, cold and a few warm spells, not nearly as warm as your place, so we find ourselves looking at all our pictures that we took and missing Cuba already. we love the beautiful grounds, buildings and ocean views. All your staff work so hard to keep up your grounds to make them look so amazing for all of us to enjoy. we made some new friends, enjoyed sitting in your new lobby bar looking at your beautiful pool. Our stay was January 23rd to Feb. 7th. Our room was 305, great room with nice view and balcony. There were 2 upper units right on the beach 602 and 702 that would have been great to stay in but they were in need of repairs and not available. We think if you fixed them they would be used all the time. Also the ladies bathroom by the lobby bar had 2 toilets but only 1 was working most of the time. The repeater dinner was great and we want to thank you again for this. Thanks again for making our trip back to Kawama so enjoyable, see you again next year.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming at Kawama! The beach, pool and drinks were awesome! I loved my vacation and look forward to my next visit :) Within walking distance to markets and restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Kawama! The staff were incredible, friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is undergoing major renovations and they do their very best to make patrons comfortable. The food was excellent and plentiful and we were all able to eat well. The amenities were good, the beach was fabulous, the entertainment was fun, and we would definitely go back.

The staff were so friendly and kind as well as efficient in their job. The resort was also clean and safe which is everything you want on vacation! Planning on going back to this hotel soon! The food was also great! :)

This was our 5th visit to this resort. The beach is spectacular! Great for swimming, lots of shells on the beach and great for long walks. The rooms are a little tired but beds are comfortable and there is hot water and air conditioning. The staff are amazing and we always meet lots of other friendly Canadians who are also repeaters to the resort. We enjoyed two tours set up by the Sunwing rep and felt the service was excellent. Keep in mind when traveling to Cuba that this is a 3rd world country!

When we arrived our "room was ready" according to the lady at check in. When we got to our room there were no beach towels, the ac wasnt working, the garbage wasnt emptied. Told the reception about our room and lack of "stuff" and she told us there wasnt another room available. A staff member came by to try to get the ac working which they did get to turn on and off but there was no functioning thermostat. This meant I had to turn it on when hot and off when too cold including the middle of the night. The beach towels and fresh towels finally arrived day 2 afternoon. The beds were comfortable but only 1 pillow on each and no extras were given. The beach was amazingly beautiful and weather was awesome. The pool was nice to look at but we went for the beach and the pool bar was under construction with the smell of diesel fuel coming from there, day and night. The food was ok but not much selection as food isnt exactly easy to get in cuba right now, apparently. Only had chicken for 2 meals all week, always had pork, no beef, no burgers, hot dogs, or fries. We brought our own seasoning salt for flavour. Did the catamaran excursion which was fun and the best food we had all week. Current was strong so people were only in the water for about 10 minutes. The beach on the island was also beautiful. I wouldn't take my kids there due to a lack of activities and food options. Staff was nice enough but everyone wanted your tips and didn't have a problem looking for one. Stayed there 4 days and that was long enough for us.

The grounds, dining areas, gym pool areas were fine and I enjoyed the beach and friendly and helpful workers. In the downside there was no toilet paper one day, and the decision to cut trees very early in the morning requires examination from management. I hope to be back again one day

Friendly atmosphere. Leida is always there to help when needed. It's a perfect spot close to the market and a short taxi ride into Santa Marta. Rooms were clean, well stocked with toilet paper. Food was fine but bring your own condiments.

***There were people in our group that have been to Kawama before and we went knowing that it isn't the best, but the entertainment, people and beach made it worthwhile...a lot has changed. I will disclaim by saying that we were in Cuba during a time when the whole island had VERRRY limited resources, which is going on still. This is not a reflection on the Cubans, they do what they can with what they have, and have been doing so for decades, it has never been this bad. BEACH: If you are going for the beach, than this resort may be for you. White sand, shallow warm water...beautiful. There isn't much shade on the beach and what shade there is, is taken first thing in the morning. Considering we were there with barely 100 people on the resort, those are not good odds. There were beach towels in our room when we arrived. FOOD: Again, there were shortages, and it is Cuba. It was the same food everyday, no toaster, no butter, and barely any veg, plenty of fruit though. We always bring our own condiments, and that is recommended for any Cuban resort, but there was not much to put them on. The snack bar had only fried egg sandwiches and "grilled" cheese, had sporadic hours, wasn't open daily, and/or closed early. Most servers were nice, and attentive but it really depended on who was working and when. DRINKS: The keg lines for beer were unclean, and there was a horrible smell from them and from behind the pool bar. There was rum and liqueurs everyday, and eventually they did have some vodka and gin, but there wasn't much to mix it with. NO bottled water, NO juice, NO white wine, NO whiskey, definitely NO mint for mojitos )eventually they did have red wine in the buffet). ROOMS: If you are going, splurge for the beachfront rooms, at least the beds are comfy, the views from the upper beachfront properties were quite nice and we had three sitting areas, which was also really nice. BUT....broken (sketchy, dirty) lamps, some doors and windows that didn't open or close, horrible slow sinks that smelled, showers that dribbled (happily there was hot water), drawers and side tables still had garbage in them from the last people, stains, and ripped fabrics, unclean floors, spotty A/C...I could go on, and keep in mind that this is in the updated, beachfront rooms. The maid we had for everyday except one didn't change the sheets more than twice in 10 days. There was an "accident" in one of the beds one of the nights (probably because of the food) and it wasn't changed for three days (finally changed when we had a different maid on our regular maids day off). Towels were hung back up and not changed for days (again, possibly due to shortages, but you could feel the sand on them as they had been on the floor previously). Also, only one key card per room, and horrible front office hours. SERVICE (and MANAGEMENT): This was also touch and go...some staff were FANTASTIC, some...not so much. The management is new and a lot of the good staff have since moved on. The return guests have told us that the new management is...not so great, and it shows. ****Watch out for the "Bar" at the front of the property, at the time it was essentially the lobby bar *I believe it is normally the sports bar/clubhouse and is part of the hotel, it is on the canal side road CAUTION: They will not accept cash here, but will take your credit/debit card and tell you it was declined. They got us three times for one order of 5 cans of beer. If you are going to drink there, **PLEASE NOTE that ACCEPTED on the debit machine is "reconocido" in Spanish, or a similar word that looks a lot like declined in English.** The bartender stole away the receipts so we couldn't see that it went through the first time. Very sketchy. "ENTERTAINMENT": LMAO. *** if you value entertainment…this is not your hotel.*** Same music every night and we saw the same magic show four times while we were there. (The hired entertainers do try, and are very nice, it is not their fault). No disco, no daily activities, other than one bingo game by the pool. One of the "activities" staff is overbearing toward not only the visiting entertaining staff, but the guests as well.The "DJ" wouldn't change the music that was played daily and was REALLLY loud, it was happily turned off by promptly 11pm nightly. There were nights when the guests took things into our own hands and everyone was dancing and having fun, with our own music and all of the lights were turned off on us. GROUNDS: This resort is very OLD, one of the first in Varadero, it is also Cuban owned so they are last to receive any and all goods distributed to hotels in the area which explains a lot of the shortages. They are doing updates to a big chunk of the hotel, and while we were there the lobby was closed (Please see note about the temporary "lobby" bar). The pool bathroom was kept very clean, and most of the bartenders try really hard with what little they have. The only bar and meeting area was by the pool, with picnic style tables and uneven wood floors (be sure to wear bug repellent while in this area as it is plagued by little annoying biting bugs). At night the lighting around many areas is spotty (also please by careful of the "moat" around the pool bar area, it is verrryy dangerous, we saw two people fall into it, and happily didn't hurt themselves, but they really could have). There are broken paths and horrible lighting almost everywhere that is not directly by main areas and I would recommend bringing a flashlight. Our experience with Tripcentral (Heather Felice) was excellent. The flight was good and ontime, the transfers were good. Hotel, not so good. Just one family's humble opinion, best of luck.

Beautiful beach, catamaran, drinks, cappuccinos, bingo, excursions, variety of food and lots of it! Totally enjoyed the always welcoming staff and all the new friends i made at this resort! Will definitely be returning to Club Kawama

Hotel has beautiful grounds with old trees.is at walking distance from shops and restaurants. Proximity to the beach is great. Bed comfortàble. However the STAFF AT RECEPTION WERE UNWELCOMING : reluctant to change your room if you have no lights or hot water. They were also unwilling/incapable to give you basic information about where things are, when will the airport bus come, etc. Other staff (maids, servers at restaurant, gardeners) were great, much much friendlier and helpful.

This was our 6th visit to Kawama. A bit different this time as the reception is under construction. The food was good and always plentiful. Enjoyed our daily Americana and Cappuccino at the café. We arrived late at night at the hotel and we’re not happy with our room. The situation was rectified the next day and we were moved to a better room. The A LA CARTE dinners we went to were fair. Nothing extraordinary but different than the buffet. We love the beach at Kawama. One of the main reasons we keep going there. We once again met amazing people and were happy to see staff members we had met on previous trips. The repeaters dinner was amazing. One way for the hotel to recognize those who have come back to visit Kawama. I think it’s important to remember that this is not a 5 star hotel. It’s one of the oldest hotels in Varadero. You get what you pay for. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel this place is not for you. But we know what to expect and it works for us. Another lovely trip in the books. Can’t wait to plan our next one!

This resort really needs to be updated. Food was very sparce and not good. The cleaners of the rooms did their best to make sure the room was clean. Hopefully things will get better for the people of Cuba.

Since a new manager has taken over, this hotel has gone downhill. It still has the amazing staff but the Manager has been spending money on all of the wrong things. He took all of the palapas down off the beach, he shut down the a la cartes for a whole week. There was no wine for a couple of days & then only limited amount of wine & never any white wine. Coffee bar ran out of coffee. He is making the staff upset. It used to be such a nice hotel until the Manager, Machine, came along. Have gone to this resort at least 20 times &, unfortunately, doubt I'll be back.

The only two a la carte restaurants were closed; buffet only. No coffee in the buffet. No butter; no white wine; sometimes no ice; no hot water for 5 days. The pool was green for 3 days. At the same time as the ocean was red flagged.

Thank you again for booking the trips for our group, we are a very laid back crew and did enjoy ourselves given the circumstances but there are definitely some things you and future travellers should be made aware of before booking this property. I'll start by saying I have been to this resort previously and have clearly been fond of it, the location, beach, staff, affordability and even the food was quite good for Cuba. I do understand the supply chain issues that have decreased here whether due to the pandemic or the war in Ukraine and these things were slightly foreseeable. However, the entire lobby at Kawama was under construction and completely closed off. The 'reception' was in a room and was quite disorganized for check in of over a dozen people. Our bus drove us to both opposite ends of the resort and some of our group walked to find out where we were to even check in. This could have been noted. We had a vague idea of the food and beverage concerns but there were literally two options for alcohol, beer and rum. There was no ice for 3 days, often out of coffee and not one of us ever received beer or soft drinks in our rooms. Lunch and dinner was pork, rice and cucumber cut 8 different ways but I don't want to make a huge deal out of the food because we didn't go to Cuba for that but it warrants mentioning. The resort was also 90% Cuban locals so any entertainment or activities were entirely in Spanish leaving us feeling excluded but again not necessarily what we go for. On the positive side the weather, beach, grounds and even rooms for the most part were good and the staff are always wonderful and did express their own dismay at what they were able to offer us. Overall I was disappointed with the lack of the basics but I understand that is out of your control but when one is paying for certain advertised expectations it's disheartening. This is the most I've ever paid to visit this resort and received the least. I'm writing mainly for awareness purposes as I was unable to gain this kind of information via social media or travel blogs but I have and will continue to share this information so new travellers can make an informed decision. In summary our group ended up being 9 as two additional friends arrived a day later to celebrate my birthday and we had many laughs and made the absolute most of our week away and we'll never forget it. it was the worst trip my husband and i ever had . the food was crap and they ran out of everything but excuse,s no coffee, no milk, no wine red or white , toilet paper used for dinner napkins,no beer sometimes, no cups for the beer, no chlorine for the pool,the list is endless..........................kawama is a shit hole

We had been to this resort before and knew it was the oldest resort in Varadero and have enjoyed staying there in the past however this year we had many complaints. Had to move to 3 different rooms due to lack of water. Food was much poorer than usual. No milk, cheese or butter. Frequently ran out of coffee, beer and wine. Ongoing issues with sewage gas. Bad odours throughout the resort. The only positive was its fabulous beach and warm friendly people.

I went to this resort after being coaxed by a couple of hometown friends. My friends have been to Hotel Kawama multiple times. I have been to Cuba 5 times, 3 times to Varadero so I knew (in part) what to expect. Upon check, I received my room and my two buddies received theirs. To my buddies amaze they were each issued a private room. One room was Beachfront. Alas it wasn’t long before Hotel management came looking for one of my friends, the one with the beach front, directing him to vacate the room as there was an error at check-in. Cuban management confused his name with another customer. Alas he had to move into the room with my other buddy. Management only gave them one key to share amongst the two of them. This did cause some additional inconvenience, but the management was unsympathetic. As I settled into my room, I quickly realized that the air conditioning did not work. The issue - it was programmed to 26 degrees Celsius and from what I was able to determine the AC remote did not work and there was no way to program the AC at source. I made it known to management and the cleaning staff for four days until there was final resolve. Alas I too had to relocate to another room, one that was not as nice as the one I left. The new room had no hot water, no toilet lid, and the toilet would not flush, the bathtub was disgusting…but hey! The AC worked extremely well. During the four days and sleepless nights that I fought to get my faulty AC situation resolved, my friends were having issue with ants. They cam home to their room and found a massive ant infestation. They threw their ant ridden bedding out of their room. They promptly stormed to hotel reception and demanded another room. They were far less diplomatic than I had been in addressing their ant situation than I had been with my AC. Oddly, the Hotel Management seem to infer that the ants came from Canada...say what? As my friends changed rooms, they had to deal with additional frustrations such as no hot water and room key and keys to the safe. After multiple trips back and forth to reception (which was quite a walk) the key situation was resolved. Upon check out, room keys were promptly shut down at 10 am. This created an additional frustration because the safe was non-accessible. I failed to vacate the room by 10 am so my wallet and passport remained locked down in the safe. I cannot begin to tell you the frustrations I had to get Management to re-open the safe for me. Moreso, management wanted to voice their displeasure with me having checked out of my room late. It became obvious for me that they didn’t mind inconvenience me further. There were other frustrations but to wrap up, I need to say something about visiting a Communist Country, one should expect substandard commodities or sparsity of such things as food, alcohol, cups, ice and mix. Oh, I can’t forget toilet paper, if there was some! To sum up...Shame on me, I should have never gone, and I never will again!

Very little food to pick from. Eggs in the morning and pork for both dinner and supper. no milk in the coffee house. If you wanted a beer or drink you must supply your own cup. Pool was disgusting zero chorine when tested. No ice most of time. Many of the return people that were there said they will not return there again. The place was that bad it makes Palma Real look like a 10.

we have been to kawama 4 times and it is getting worse,no hot water,rain through our walls,no light in bathroom,less towels and not changed everyday,no milk,not a big selection of food,no pina coladas,etc.no hair dryer, no cable most of time.when we got home our onesuitcase had been broken into and 2 bottles of rum and 3 packs of cigarettes gone.not impressed,we have been to cuba 26 times and this is the first.I have talked to hola sun and waiting to get back to me.and the human resourses rep at hotel kawama knows.

The hotel was very good...as always it is...the staff are amazing very friendly and happy to help any one out...the rooms are clean everyday...the food is good... the beach is awesome...luv going to the same hotel they know me there and I get treated with open arms and friendly hello and welcome back to the hotel until next time...I do excursions too from the hotel and shopping for gifts too.

The resort staff are so nice! The beach was perfectly kept and beautiful. The rooms were a bit dated, but did the trick. The food could use some work in my opinion. The buffet food was not very flavourful, but the A La Carte restaurant meal was good.

Overall the experience was great. Great food, great staff. The only thing that was frustrating was the 2inches of water in our room the first night. Reception was not interested in helping us change rooms. I took it upon myself to make sure the hallway was dry very couple of hours. I also asked for extra towels to pack against the door to keep water from leaking into the room. I would still go back to the hotel again

Kawana has the best beach I have ever been to. The hotel is older and dated but has some amazing architecture. We had a room on the ocean. Very comfortable. Due to COVID there were some issues getting some supplies but we made the best of it. The staff go above and beyond to try to make your vacation the best. I will be returning next year for sure. Met some amazing new friends.

Wendy got us a deal for 14 days at Club Kawama at the amazing price of $1345.00 (all inclusive.) Don't think you can do better at this price, for 2 weeks in the sun, including air from Ottawa. However, there were certainly some things we were not happy with, but not unexpected, at a star resort. I have tabled the pros and cons below: PROS: - (1) The fantastic VARADERO BEACH and ocean; the same at a 3star as a 5star. (2) SWIMMING POOL - just great; it was large, had a walk-in hot tub, shallow and deep ends, so I could even do some laps if I felt energetic, also, my partner and I are not agile and really appreciated the large steps plus hand rail used to enter. (3) THE LOBBY BAR FOR CAPPUCCINO - following the dreadful coffee at breakfast (see below), it was such a treat to relax at the lobby bar for our morning cappuccinos. They were just great at any time of the day. (4) SERVICE - generally, the service was good. In particular, Ray and Orlando were always available to lend a helping hand; the waitresses at the lobby bar were professional and always served with a smile. CONS:- (1) FOOD - always a contentious subject. We did not go hungry, but the daily menu at the buffet could not exist without rice and chicken. We should probably forgive them for the lack of variety though as the resort had only recently reopened after Covid. Only one a la carte restaurant was open and served a pleasant change of pasta and pizza. (2) DRINKS - again, there were many items not available due to the pandemic. On our first day, we ordered a rum punch and received rum mixed with seven up. Stick to a cold beer and you would be fine. The wine was drinkable, just. (3) COFFEE - I have given this its separate heading as most of us love our morning fix of caffeine. Why is it that every resort in Cuba seems to be unable to serve decent coffee at the buffet? Trust me, the coffee here at the buffet was like dishwater and virtually undrinkable. (4) ROOMS - they were spacious, but that's about all. Our maid appeared to finish cleaning the bedroom and bathroom in about 5 minutes. We found some small items on the floor under the bed which had been there for weeks. We both suffered from many large insect bites and we wonder if there were bed bugs. Water in the shower was usually luke warm. We did not go to watch TV, but unless you knew Spanish or like watching CNN all the time, you were out of luck. (5) CUBAN GUESTS - because this is a cheap hotel, it seems that local residents are able to visit for 2 or 3 days at a cost of about $10.00 per day. I am happy for them. However, at the time of our stay, there were times when there were many large Cuban families who 'took over' the restaurant and pool area. I recommend that you check the Cuban holiday schedule before booking. (6) COVID 19 SAFETY - every hotel is recovering from the pandemic and it was evident that this was a priority at Kawama. For example, bushes and trees were being planted, outside balconies were being painted and there was much work to do. However, I think that safety procedures have taken second place. A mask mandate was not enforced and there was little evidence of cleaning and disinfecting. IMPORTANT - my partner and I have had the 2 vaccinations plus the booster shot, but we have both tested positive for Covid since our return. My partner started to feel unwell during the second week and I think I caught the virus from her on the last day of our vacation. We visited the on site doctor on our second last day to have our 'negative tests' done. The process took about 5 minutes and cost us US $50.00. We had to return some 6 hours later to receive the signed test confirmations, which must have taken not more than 2 minutes to complete. I must be careful how I phrase this, but let's say that I was surprised that we both received 'negative' confirmations. I will leave it at that. CONCLUSION - if you need to escape for a week or two in the sun and the beach and pool are your only priorities, Club Kawama represents very good value

Rooms were clean, resort grounds clean, beach was awesome! Draft beer was strong, lots of food at buffet, snack bar had hamburgers, omelettes, hotdogs, fries. Location is walking distance to the hart of varadaro with markets and restaurants to eat drink from if you get sick of resort food

Let me start by saying I truly believe the staff at the Kawama are trying their very best. Covid seems to have kicked the heck out of them. Truly brutal food...just nothing available, but I don't go on vacation for the food so I got by. My room was nice and maid was great. Weather was great. And that's about it. The Cuban people are suffering and it was glaringly apparent this time around. There is an underlying feeling of resentment from the locals which taints the experience. Let's review the highlights of this trip: 1) Original booking was put back due to Covid...everyone was very helpful in re-booking 2) I was bumped from my original seat in 5F at the last moment. Ended up in 15F so I survived. 3) Flight good and check in at hotel no problem. 4) I had relatives go the week before me so they asked me to bring Becel, cheese and some snacks. Also salad dressings and some spices. Anything to make the food palatable. 5) The resort was absolutely packed with local tourists who clearly despised us. Not fun. 6) Worse than that where my fellow Canadian regulars. The resort caters so much to these self entitled repeaters that it gets frustrating for everyone else. There is only one a-la-carte restaurant left and they are in it every single night! One of these delightful brethren of mine got vocally offended because we were given HIS table by the window. 7) Some of the local taxi drivers are now openly hostile to us. One of our party speaks spanish and she was greeted by lectures at every turn. She does not want to go back. Now I realize this is out of your control. 8) We had an absolutely terrifying two hour stop on the bus at the airport. No one would give us an explanation as to why we were being detained. Of course your mind starts playing out the worst possible scenarios. Never did get a satisfying explanation other than they had to wait for the guy who takes temperatures. Again, out of your control. 9) Airport boarding....I can't begin to describe. But I got home and the flight was good. 10) I have only touched on the highlights. This was only my second trip to Cuba, both to the Kawama. It felt completely different. And not for the better. I will not be going back. But I can't say it was from a lack of trying on the part of the staff. Sunwing and Tripcentral tried their best as well.

This is one of the cheapest resorts you can book in Varadero. You get what you pay for and then some here! Chill vibes, beds are comfortable, pool is clean, there’s always entertainment on the go every night. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The greatest need for improvement is in the maintenance of the guest rooms. Some of the problems can easily be corrected simply by replacing light bulbs, replacing batteries in T.V. remotes, replacing broken shower heads, replacing used up pillows. Management should deal with mold and rust in the bathrooms as well. Hopefully the beds and furnishings will be replaced as the resort sees more business post COVID. The reception requires more training and organization. The pathways to access the guest rooms are in need of lighting in many areas and many walkways are quite hazardous in the dark. The rooms we experienced wouldn't likely rank over a 1.5 star rating in Mexico, USA or Canada. However the pool area is very good as is the beach area. The restaurants are reasonably good with slightly less than average food. Many of the staff are delightful, but not all. You will have an enjoyable time at the resort while not in your room.

This review is based on my recent experience at the Club Kawama February 24 - March 6 2022. First of all, I would like to clarify that I am a big fan of Cubans ( the people, the language, the culture, the music and that l come to visit Cuba since 2000 every couple of years, to enjoy the beach and the culture; however during this vacation I had experienced lots of Cubans at Club Kawama that overtook the hotel , specifically the dining facilities. Lines of people waiting for food , taking too much on their plates, waisting food, rudeness in lineups etc The food was scarse, no butter, no cheese, no oil or condiments. The beach and the water made up for the other misery…..

Pros: Easy access to the beach. Beach is great. Cons: Room was not prepared before check in. The bathroom was filthy. Bathroom shower fixture had no holding hook. Staff was not responsive to simple needs. Not much variety in the food menus. ok, granted that there is a food crisis in the country. Staff didnt seem to care about subduing the noisy guests in the lobby General comments: Great property. But management needs to pay attention to all the little details. And possibly needs a complete makeover.

Rooms need updated need dressers for clothes I didn't like that plastic glasses were taken out of garbage and reused(covid)wasn't fair that cubins at resort where taking most of food nothing left for us.bartenders should not serve people without masks but yes I really like the workers and for that I would come back

I have been travelling to club kawama since 2013 and find this resort meets my needs everytime. For the price of your stay it is comfortable. Yes some rooms are out dated but personally im there for the gorgeous beach and clean pool. My fresh smoothie is made as well as my omlette. The snack bar is s great light lunch and supper has been steak..shrimp..pizza..pasta..soup..the list goes on. Already planning another stay.

I had a tight budget, so I got what I paid for. The room was not hotel standard - the mold was visible and the drainage smell never went away. Very noisy at night. Wifi was $5CAD for two hours and can only be accessed in the lobby, where everyone smoked and very busy. It was very difficult to get drinking water. The food is cooked either too dry or too raw. There is no snack bar, as half of the hotel is closed. Some people are nicer than the others, though. The location is good, as it is closed to the commercial area. It is very important to leave the resort/my room whenever I could. I am not complaining because I spent the lowest amount of money and didn't expect anything better. Club Kawama should never raise its price no matter how expensive other resorts are, since its infrastructure, food, and resources are not worth anything remotely close to four figures. I will never go back there. It should not be counted as a resort, not even a hotel. If I can't afford anything better, I'd rather stay home in the winter. It is way better to see the snow than smelling the drainage in the room and throwing up because of that.

Firstly, would I stay here again? The answer is, "Hell yes!!" The check-in was efficient. The food was moderate. And the beer kept flowing! The beach was superb and all of the bar services on the resort (notwithstanding them not having Scotch) were really great!

The Kawama hotel is awesome and over the years I have made many friends there, they always make me feel welcome and a special thank you to Leida Fernandez I can always count on her to make my stay more pleasant, if I have a problem she is more than happy to help me....the only thing I have a complaint about is they really have to improve on the hot water, I only had hot water once in my room in the two weeks I stayed there

We continue to return to Club Kawama year after year for the amazing beach and the beautiful staff. The resort was much quieter than usual due to the pandemic. The protocols in place to ensure a safe and clean environment were top notch. In particular, the food and drinks in the dining room and bars were carefully covered and distributed only by staff. We like this resort because it is mainly two or three story buildings rather than a modern high rise of 15 plus floors. It's an older resort so it's not for everyone who is looking for a 4 or 5 star. We like the charm, the people and the beautiful surroundings this resort has to offer.

This is a well- kept resort. The staff is very busy cleaning and keeping the resort looking nice in all areas. The dining room is very comfortable and the staff go out of their way to help visitors. There was a large selection for food, and I always enjoyed my meals in the buffet. I also liked the burgers that were served near the pool. I was very satisfied with the resort and staff. The only thing I was concerned with was certain visitors that did not wear their masks at the buffet - when going to get food or when they entered the restaurant. This happened a few times in the main lobby.

Kawama is as always a fun place to meet people that enjoy a good time. Yes the food is not like back home but surprise , your not in Canada pal. As for the tropical location here,s another surprise THEY HAVE BUGS so deal with it (ie bring bug spray duh). All being said this is the Cuba that we love , not a five star by any means but one hell of a fun place to enjoy. Last but not least the staff at Kawama are the BEST.Kudos to them now and in the future.

Loved the beautiful beach, pools, buffet, drinks, music — great time! This was my second visit to this resort and nice to see some great staff and friendly regular visitors again I felt safe from the worries of Covid - staff made sure all precautions were taken

Another unforgettable vacation at Club Kawama. From check in to departure you truly feel as a welcome member of FAMILY. With strict Covid rules in effect, we found the staff impeccable both in adherence too and enforcement of said rules. The service was easily at par with any 5 star resort I have been to in Varadero. Clean, clean, clean. Always a staff member cleaning and disinfecting in front of you, behind you. Can't wait to go back.

From the well kept grounds to the sparkling pool. The staff is friendly and very alert to your needs. Bartenders remember your drink of choice, to how you take your coffee. This resort is 91 years young and is updating all the time. I cannot wait to book my trip here.

Nice resort gorgeous beach, nice big pool. Resort was only 15-20 %capacity due to Cuba slowly opening up! Candio the server at the pool bar was fantastic kept us stocked with drinks for the entire week.

The resort was awesome the staff r amazing...the food was good...the view of the ocean was the best it always made my day looking at it so relaxing quiet...refreshing to swim in so warm in the afternoon in the morning a bit cool but refreshing...the grounds r very well kept by the workers who the upgrade mowing the lawn trimming the trees, etc...Varadero, Cuba is amazing I go again the people there r very friendly an welcoming to visitors...I recommend anyone to visit Varadero, Cuba...I do it again in a heart ❤ beat...

The room provided at the hotel didn't have hot water, security box not functioning, no tv, dirty windows, dirty towels, spiders I reported this to the desk immediately and I gave a copy of the report to Yordy, the Sunwing rep There was a promise of changing the room and they changed it with a worse one: all of the above and a terrible noise from the external air conditioning So after hours and hours day and night of waiting getting no answer from the desk being tired and dirty, sleepless in Varadero, I took the decision to go ahead and rent a room for the remaining period (I have a receipt from the renting house outside the hotel for I paid extra) when of course I didn't take advantage of any breakfast or supper

Beautiful resort, spread throughout a large territory, beautiful scenery, beachfront. No high-rise buildings. Well maintained. Lots of entertainment - day and night. Rooms are clean, in a good condition. Especially, if you book a "superior" room you'll get a real feeling of colonial style mixed with art-deco, beautiful terraces and view. The buffet offers plenty of fruit and vegetables, fresh and cooked, this was my favourite part. No french fries, just sweet potatoes and fried bananas. Decent variety of cooked meals. IMPORTANT: Overheard from tourists there, with food allergies, that there is always food to choose from. Strongly recommend the 2 restaurants ala-carte - El Cubano y El Gran Canal, situated in both ends of the resort. Amazing food! Amazing service! The beach - pure beauty, nothing more to want! The staff is very friendly and always try to accommodate you. For those who look for beautiful beech, space and nature, nice and relaxing vacation I would recommend Kawama!

I was at Club Kawama Feb. 12 - 19. I had read many reviews before booking the trip so I went in with eyes wide open. I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, the resort is dated and yes the food is what I understand to be typical Cuban cuisine. The staff is great! The beach is incredible! My room was clean! I met many, many people who were all having a blast! I would definitely return. I miss it already.

Our Standard Room had mould, smelled , had only 1 small lamp and only a bottom ( no top) sheet on each bed. When we complained we were placed in a slightly better room which was sub standard but was the only room available. The helpful Sunwing Representative tried to get us a Superior Room but they had none so we were given a room at another hotel at no extra cost. Thankyou Sunwing!

food was disgusting ,inedible,no hot water,paper thin hard mattress ,rude unfriendly staff,no butter ,long queus for buffet,no vodka ,just terrible dont stay here and its not the embargo stayed at muthu playa in december food was delicious and had no issues at all how i regret booking this hotel

This resort is very old. The rooms have mold in them and do not get a very good cleaning. The lobby is dark and small. The grounds are run down but landscaping is nice. Buffet was horrible. The same food for lunch and supper. But a few nice restaurants close by. The beach beautiful, the pool clean and nice.

Needs lots of updated and more cleaner rooms does not look well maintained ,, bathrooms do not like clean stains in bathtubs ,,, smelly blankets the staff need to smile more , food can be better ,, service aren't the friendliest

In our opinion my hub y and I have traveled 4 yrs in a row with the same agent at trip central candice and she has always done over and above for us we love club kawama varedero for many reasons 1st is the beach then it goes to the people and forever friends u meet....Its a 3 star and nothing fancy but great staff grounds clean food will suck anywhere in cuba entertainment well when u meet the kinda people we do it's the best...Kawama is walking distance to everything and I mean everything..As for the rooms plan Jane but they sure look after u expesically if u r a repeter for the rest of our lives...The only bad thing I have to say is be prepared to have a good time of not pay 1300 alone for 1 person at a 5 star instead of 1250 for 2....Thanks again trip central and candice for always helping us....

This hotel is old but full of charm and fun people. The grounds were kept beautifully while I was there considering there were a couple of downpours that knock lots of leaves etc. down from the trees. 3 a la carte restaurants and the buffet have lots of food choices, I am always able to eat good meals while there. Friendly staff everywhere to help you. Love the shows in the evening. The rooms I have had were clean with some repairs needed. However I am not there to spend time in the room, except to have a good nights sleep. The beach and pool are amazing.

The hotel was ok but they ran out of toilet paper at the pool bathroom every day other than that the entertainment was good every night I would recommend the hotel to a friend I would come back next year food could of been better

Resort staff was amazing as always. Times are tough right now in cuba in general and you could feel the difference everywhere you went. Grounds and buildings need repair but are almost 80 years old...

This is second time, good value for your money , great walking distance from restaurants, markets, if u like to fish bring your rod as its on the other side of the street. Beach is amazing you can always see your feet. This is a resort that is so ive been told 1 km long so if u are at the other end be prepared for a walk. Very layed back resort so if you are looking or your fancy blended drinks, really good mojitos this isnt the place athough they do make awesome lime dacquiris. The food well you can always find sonething u like, they hve a good snack bar hamburgers,hot dogs, ham and cheese no fries! i suggest if you like peanut butter,jam, snacks bring from home. Rooms are very old so be prepared if you didnt book superior, we did and we still had to see manager and they gave us a room in perfect location. Cuba just broght in a new law a couple of months ago that you cannot use pesos at the airport when waiting to leave so make sure you change yoyr money back at bank or airport before u go though security. You also might want to pack a sandwich at hotel so u dont have to buy at airport as only 1 restaurant and sandwich venues that are overpriced. Also buy your booze and presents in town airport double the price. We had a great time at Kawama will go again as it is a relaxed atmosphere and you can always get a lounge chair! Bring a flashlight as its not very well lit at night and if u use a facecloth bring that to. Hope this gives u a little idea of the property!

Don't go there !!! Everything is old and not renovated, the picture are not realistic of what it is in 2020. Same food all day, all week. People are not sympatic. The only do something for you if you tips before, and you have to give a big tip. In my room, I was supposed to be refill in the fridge each day, Nothing done all week. Towel they didn't want to change them each day, they were dirty and wet, but they were putting them back on the shelve and leave it there. The shower curtain was holding in place with only 3 rings, and the bath, was crack and the rust was painted but she was peeling.

It isn't my first time there, I believe my 7th. But the last couple of times I noticed that it's starting to need some renos. We would wake up every morning to a mountain of sand in the bath full of ants that would somehow come out through the drain. We would rinse it and it would come right back overnight. We also had a none working A.C. all week. Our room neighbour had a broken toilet all week that they couldn't flush at all, they made a complaint at the front desk and it never got fixed. We ran out of toilet paper and we end up waiting 24 hours for it. But all in all it's still a great resort and I would still go back.

Pool area was great. Lots of chairs and cute little shade huts. Beach was beautiful with lots to do. Rooms were good hot water and a/c worked great. Food was good different every night. Kikis a little restaurant off the resort was really good !! I will be back.

Loved my visit here. Beautiful beach. Amazing array of food, prepared with a lot of care. Walking distance to many interesting places. Staff friendly, as long as you tip periodically. This is a three star resort and is what you can expect for this rating. The beach is easily a five star!

Obviously an older resort however most everything worked. My room was clean and the grounds were tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. At night it was difficult to get around since the lighting was not good. The food was fine and I enjoyed the Itlantian restaurant. The location was great. You were a short walk from the town.

The staff was friendly helpful and generally fantastic! The entertainments were OK, although I really do not like rap culture which was about 2/3rds of the nightly music programming at the stage beside the lounge. One night on the other hand, a rock band nailed the International Submarine Band / Byrds / Flying Burrito Brothers "Cosmic American Music" sound pioneered by Gram Parsons and Neil Young et al. in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Very impressive! But the buffet restaurant became very predictable and sometimes included under-cooked elements (like under-done potatoes in an egg salad from the cold table for example). The oil that all the grill chefs on site used added a taste I hated which made every meat taste the same (needless to say I didn't eat much meat). All in all a good experience - as is 27C and sunny for a Canadian in January! :)

My wife went to Club Kawama Dec 23, 2019. for one week. The hotel inflated there price for the xmas holidays as do the rest of the resorts. The room they gave us on arrival was at the furthest point away from the lobby. The room was completely stripped . There was no bed spreads. no lamp shades. no remote for the TV, no remote fore the AC unit, no shower curtain, the window locks were broken, no phone, and there was no hot water. The general condition of the room was poor. this room was uninhabitable. We went to the front desk to ask for another room and were told to come back at 11:00 am the next day. The next day we went to the Hola tour rep. (josa), and explained the condition of the room. Josa went to the resort manager and arranged another room. The room they took us to was closer to the lobby and in better condition, but there was no phone and no water at all. So, Back to the manager again. Finally they put us in a room that had the essentials in it but still no phone. apparently there are no phones in any of the rooms at this hotel. The next problem was getting fresh towels. we only got fresh towels every two days. The food was good if they didn't run out. The buffet restaurant was to small for the amount of guests they have. They purchased the resorts on ether side of them and closed those buffet restaurants. You had to line up just to get in the buffet, they would let so many guest in, then close and lock the door until more room came available. There was only one cook station and lineups were long. they ran out of food constantly. there was no butter at all, they just didn't have it. The Italian restaurant had no pasta at all. We have been to Cube 11 times and it is to be expected that things are not always perfect, and we are not overly fussy but this place is bad.

I am going to leave an honest review as I read many conflicting reviews before I stayed at the resort. First thing the food is not that bad. I have been to Cuba in the past (5 star) and the food was better here. Yes you might have to look around the buffet a bit, but I did not starve. The specialty restaurants were great, especially the Italian. The grounds are beautiful. When booking you have to remember you are staying at the oldest resort in Varadero. They are fixing up the resort building by building. I didn't realize the size of the resort until I arrived, it is approximately 5 blocks long, so this is going to take some time to complete. You can see the work that has already gone into the restoration and that is still going in. I did read a comment regarding pillows, we did take our own, but during the week our pillows were replaced with new ones, that were just like the ones we brought from home. Overall the grounds and building are absolutely beautiful and full of character. Once the restoration is complete this will be an absolute favorite of mine. Another comment I had seen was regarding staff. The bartenders, bell boys, security staff and the maintenance staff were great. Very friendly and willing to help with anything or just have a chat. The restaurant staff were my favorite. The only complaint I really have is the front desk staff. They were rude and made you feel like you were an inconvenience to them. I only had one good experience with the front desk staff with Vivian. Overall I would return to the hotel, we had an amazing vacation!

The grounds were great well maintain, the Staff are incredible very friendly.... The reservations to Restaurants was amazing. My room was alright but would of preferred nicer one. Love the beach 🏖.

Hotel Kawama is one of the oldest resorts on the beach in Varadero. It has history and character and has sprawling grounds and about a kilometre of beach. Things are generally well-looked after, clean and maintained (a few missing lightbulbs here and there don’t bother me). The staff are mostly long-time employees and are like a big family. They treat guests very well and will go above and beyond if you are genuinely friendly and courteous to them. They work hard with limited means. The food is great here with lots of options at each meal. I’ve been to many resorts in Cuba and this is by far the best for service, staff, location and food. I love that it is mostly quiet (no late disco) and there are always loungers on the beach in the shade. The pools are a great option when waves are high. Walkable distance to the markets and several nice restaurants as well. I will be back! *pack things to give away when you go! Toys, tools, sports balls, clothing, shoes (runners especially). :)

Rooms were clean, you may want to bring a pillow, not the fluffiest I've seen. Very poor selection of food in the buffet..but lets face it, were not there for the food..lol Grounds were kept clean. Resort ran out of towels one day- not sure why? The Staff, always very nice.. This is my 2nd time at this resort.. I always meet the nicest people and leave having new friends..I will always go to Club Kawama because it offers what i want, nice people, close to downtown Varadero and first resort from the airport.
