Hola Amigos !! We just returned from Iberostar Tainos Resort Jan 24-Feb 7 (our 3rd time here) and we had another excellent stay in Varadero Cuba. No problems other than the weather was a little cool at times but better than -23c in On. No shortages of anything food & booze & FUN!! It was an awesome trip as well as a great professional Staff. A huge thanks to Jania & reception Ladies who will take care of all your needs. Our maid Lay was one of the best we’ve had. I would highly recommend this resort as it delivers in every way. Absolute Paradise! An Unforgettable Cuban Escape at Iberostar Tainos From the moment we arrived, we knew we'd chosen the perfect getaway. The Iberostar Tainos in Varadero isn't just a vacation spot; it's a vibrant slice of Cuban paradise meticulously designed for relaxation and joy. Our room was fantastic—spacious, immaculately clean, and comfortable. Waking up to the tropical breeze and stepping onto our balcony to catch a glimpse of that legendary Varadero turquoise water set the tone for every perfect day. The beach is absolutely the resort’s crown jewel. The famous powdery white sand of Varadero met crystal-clear, calm waters that were perfect for swimming. The dedicated staff kept the area impeccable and were always on hand with fresh towels and a friendly "hola." We spent our days alternating between lounging on the stunning beach, taking dips in the large, well-maintained pools, and enjoying the fantastic animation team's activities. The dining experiences were a highlight. The main buffet offered a great variety of options to please everyone, and the themed restaurants were a delicious change of pace. Special mention to the amazing cocktails at the bars—the mojitos were perfection and the perfect accompaniment to those spectacular Caribbean sunsets. What truly set this resort apart, however, was the staff. Every single team member, from the tirelessly cheerful entertainment crew to the hardworking restaurant and housekeeping staff, was genuinely warm, attentive, and embodied the incredible Cuban spirit. They went above and beyond to ensure our happiness. We arrived very late at night after a long trip, not the best start to a vacay. The hotel staff was quick to get us a room but they were short on accommodation due to New Years so our room was not as expected. They said "No problem, please come back in the morning and we will get you another room." The next morning we approached the front counter with our concerns. They were amazingly understanding and so helpful. We wound up getting the perfect room! We can't express enough just how much the entire hotel staff made us feel welcome. It was a true pleasure to visit and create memories in a paradise filled with exceptional people :)

The bungalow which we stayed was nice, and in general the resort was OK, but due to weather and maybe uncollected garbage outside of Varadero, mosquitoes were overwhelming. We kept on spraying ourselves with all kinds of insect repellents, but we noticed that the staff were also suffering. Also, the loud, incessant music at noon, when we tried to rest after lunch spoiled our stay. We complained a few times and most staff were very pleasant and accommodating, but they could not eliminate this problem. I won't bother to mention about shortage of vegetables or fruits. We did not expect much, and therefore were not disappointed regarding dinners. The best part of this resort were all of the staff. They tried their best to make our stay a pleasant one. If we ever go back, it will be because of the precious staff.

Arrived at the hotel, friendly greetings from everyone, and was happy with the Lobby Renovations that were ongoing. Headed to the beach and was amazed at the beaches. Fast forward had a great stay, great day trip to Havana. Food was ok but we were there for a relaxing time. Evening singers were great and the shows were decent. My/our biggest complaint involves a staff member that i am assuming is from Head Oofice for Iberostar. His name was Daniel and he was in charge of the Wine Tasting On Tuesday May 13th. We were sitting near the back and when it all started we along with a few other tables never received any wine. We mentioned it to him and some of the missing tables got it but not ours. Fast forward to the evening event which was a tasting event for Mojhitos. He was there and we approached him and told him we were not very impressed with Wine tasting in the morning and the way it was run, and his response was oh what a shame with sarcastic tone and then I witnessed him talking to a friend I assume and rolled his eyes and pointed at us and they both laughed. Anyways that was the worst part of the trip and we both just found him very arrogant and it was all about him. So it won't spoil things for us but found him a little much.

Lovely relaxing resort. Grounds are beautiful, beach is breathtaking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Despite shortages on the Isle food was not a problem, just have to adapt. Bring your own spices .No shortage of water and no electricity blackouts. Check in was unfortunately too long after arrival. Bathroom fixtures need updating and cleaning staff may need instruction on when to change towels/ bath mats. On the whole a very pleasant, relaxing trip and will return. Take basic toiletries to give to staff and others as this is appreciated .

This resort is definitely on our repeat list! Pool was fabulous, beach was heavenly and staff were so friendly and welcoming! We stayed in a bungalow and its location by the pool was so convenient! The resort is not too big so we did not waste time looking for each other and getting anywhere on the resort was quick! Great staff at all bars, reception, housekeeping and at buffet!

We stayed at a bungalow and were quite happy with the cleaning, staff who were working at the restaurant and others. The entertainment D.J Gustav was charming. He encouraged everybody to dance and added fun to our nights. Shows each night were unique and amazing! Only one day we had a complaint with the noise around the pool but when we talked to the Hotel manager, it was resolved. We had no problems afterwards. Definitely, we will come back and bring our family and friends. Thanks to all of you who welcomed us and made our stay another pleasant experience.

The resort was good. It could be made better by paying attention to the aesthetics of rooms. Staff was very nice and co-operative. The option for vegetarian food can be enhanced to support vegetarian tourists.

Good resort I spent a week at. Endless white sand beaches, palm trees at the pool and helpful staff. The food left much to be desired. Not recommended for vegetarians or vegans. I was given ‘vegetable soup’ at the Criollo restaurant that had chicken in it. Though they did go out of their way to accommodate me at the Japanese restaurant. A fellow guest had a watch stolen at the pool. During my departure, a front desk clerk went over and above when the transfer bus to the airport skipped our hotel, very helpful!

Small , quieter resort. Great clean beach, staff nice. Cleanliness not ideal, bathroom in hotel and public smelled of urine always. Did have a cockroach in room and seen outside. Lots of mosquito and bites. Often no toilet paper, or asked for tip to use. Grounds nice, buildings dated. Food good and plenty considering Cuba.

Jan 23-Feb 6/24***** 5 star in my opinion. Wow what a resort Tanios Varadero it was everything we were looking for, fun entertainment beach food and much much more. Our 2 weeks here was most enjoyable, Tanios delivered !. The food was delicious with a very large variety to choose from, fruits, veggies scrumptious fish chicken pork & beef dishes & deserts galore plus all the trimmings to please every pallet. THE STAFF WAS FABULOS !! FABULOS !! FABULOS !! The Lobby bar was the best for sitting around chillin, people watching or enjoying a Cuban drink before dinner & that special morning cappuccino coffee to start your day. Just to mention a few who stood out in our awesome stay were our maid Elaine who kept our place fresh & clean during our 2 weeks. Also the pool bartenders, Julio & Mayelin, pool area rest. cooks, the Entertainment ( Elvis is entertainment himself....fun to watch LOL ) Dancers, Musicians and Singers were excellent morning day & night. The staff in the main cafeteria are also outstanding tending to all your needs. all the cooks & servers Beatrix Kania Edwin Louis to mention a few were helpful friendly and always with a beautiful smile . Then there is Jania, manager extraordinaire who runs the front desk. She is so helpful to answer questions info or any problems which may arise. Tanios Varadero is the smoothest most friendliest check-in & out resort we have experienced in our many years & miles of travel. We will definitely return to Tanios Varadero Cuba Thank you one & all

We had a great time as usual. This was our 9th visit to the Tainos. We noticed a few shortages but nothing that effected our vacation. There was plenty of food and drinks and the staff were amazing as usual. Looking forward to our next visit.

Majority of Staff are fabulous...rooms are clean. Food was good. A few meals were great. Front desk staff are helpful. After Canadians the next nationality would be Russians, Brits then other Europeans. Smoking is unfortunately very prevalent in Cuba. Great place for a week of fun in the sun!!!

Excellent treatment by staff, accessibility good for a woman of age. Elevator, stair options. Ground well kept. Food more than adequate. Pool very clean. Lots of lounges for number of people there. Specific smoking/ non smoking areas. Rooms very clean and well stocked. Only complaint, no coffee makers in rooms. I would have brought my own had I know.

What make this resort special, is its people. Very friendly staff. Especially the entertainers, they were just great. The evening shows were great, the beach at this resort is so beautiful. Lots of variety when it came to food. If you need something spicy, just take it with you and add it.

The staff were fantastic!!! Made us feel welcome and wanted to make our vacation special.The pool, beach and grounds were lovely. Room was clean and lots of hot water. Balcony was nice. No complaints.

The girls at customer service are awesome and the grounds are beautiful. It is a clean resort, but a little outdated. The food was horrible except for breakfasts! The grill station is only open between 12pm and 6 pm. The resort has a stunning beach!

I was grateful to return to Iberostar Tainos for a week in the sun. First of all, the staff is amazing. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and at all times professional. The manager, Jania, has an infectious smile - and beautiful singing voice. She sang along with our choir at times and bent over backwards to make our stay agreeable. She's a load of fun. Several improvements have been made in the past few years: the food is more varied and attractively arranged, the amenities work better (though not always), the fans really cool down your room...The grounds also look cleaner and well maintained. It was pleasant to walk around and examine the beautiful trees and flowering plants. And the beach was immaculate, the sand perfect, the water incredibly blue. There were enough places to lie in the shade. It truly is a wonderful part of the world. As for activities, there were many right at the resort. Much thanks goes to Hugh (Hugo) and his wonderful dancers who led us in salsa dancing night after night in the outdoor piazza. Hugh and his crew are all gifted artists (your daughter, Tamara, is a lucky girl, Hugh!) and we had such fun dancing to the live music and then watching live performances in the theatre. What was also clear was how much people have been (and still are) affected by the past few years of Covid (as well as the storms). Donations (e.g. children's medication, school supplies, clothes, reading glasses) continue to be welcomed and can be dropped off at the church in Varadaro - just a short bus/taxi ride away. Tip the staff generously; they (and their families) more than deserve it!

The staff on the beach, at bars, and in restaurants and buffet were awesome. I was disappointed in cleaning services and the lack of variety of food choices. The rooms looked tired. I have stayed here a few times. Might need to look elsewhere for next year.

Never in my 83 years of life have I stayed at a hotel that purposely did not have hot water to shower or bathe . Management answer was we know we have a on going problem with low water pressure and a 50' f maximum hot water. But were to busy fixing other things like outdoor fountains to bother with guest problems. Another problem is loundges at the pool or beach ,guest go early to claim their chair by leaving a towel or book on it then leave for hours before they use it. Meanwhile other guest have no where to sit. A new rule like if you are not present at the site you cannot claim a chair would solve the problem. So you see the hotel really does not care about there guest comfort.

We stayed at the Iberostar Tainos for a week in February 2023. The site and the resort are very nice: nice pool, well maintained garden and nice facilities. The beach was very nice. The service is courteous. The room was the equivalent of a 2⭐️. It needs some serious renovation. The bathtub and the sink focetts were rusted. The water pressure was pretty bad, especially late afternoon when guests are back from the beach. The furniture was old and outdated. The beds were comfortable though. The food was ok. Not great and forget about the 3 restaurants options. It comes from the same kitchen.

Beautiful clean hotel, friendly staff, no shortages that we could see (despite dire warnings). Other than a few people wearing masks, there was no evidence of Covid. The single complaint we have was the insects. Couldn't see them until the itching started. Take a strong insect repellant and use it liberally.

Overall, the resort was great as masks were used by staff everywhere. Buffet was changed in that the staff was responsible for serving guests at the various stations to avoid multiple contact with serving utensils. Eventhough we were told the hotel was fully booked we never felt crowded at the beach or by the pool. The staff were very friendly and did what they could to accommodate guests.

Staff was extremely friendly at all levels. That friendliness and politeness made our vacation extremely enjoyable. Although COVID, blockade and years without tourists affected the ability to have the same level of food offerings as previous years, the kitchen staff did great work, using effective creativity prepared tasty and great food. They had more and much nicer salads than ever before (this was our 10th visit to Varadero but first time to this hotel). Rooms were clean, bed sheets were replaced regularly, water supplied every day. Everything in the hotel was above expectation knowing the current situation in Cuba. The ground was well maintained, the beach is the best in Varadero, and we were staying in 7 different hotels, but this portion of the beach is the best. They could make small improvements in fixing caulking and sealing in bathroom – that can significantly improve impression that we have. Evening Entertainment program was great, in 2 weeks they did not repeat the same program once. Artists were exceptionally good – we enjoyed their performance both weeks. All staff was wearing masks, hand sanitizers were available and functional in multiple locations. They also requested tourists to wear masks in closed areas, in the restaurants, bars all the time except when eating or drinking. You had to wear masks when ordering food or ordering the drinks. We really felt very safe from COVID there.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Tainos. We've been there 7 times before. It is a beautiful, small resort. The beach is what we go for, and it never fails to amaze me. Absolutely wonderful. The staff are very kind and helpful. Almost like family after our repeated returns. The resort is starting to show its' age. Good use some paint, lamps in the rooms, etc.. Not terrible, but a little TLC would go a long way. Covid restrictions are strictly adhered to. Masks required in restaurants. Not obligatory in lobby ( but highly suggested. ). Not required outdoors or on beach. All staff, and most patrons are very watchful of maintaining distancing. They have stopped stocking refrigerators in rooms, which we missed considerably. The food was worse than I have ever seen. We never expect much for food in Cuba. I am not a fussy eater, but this time it was much was than previous trips. If possible, bring some food of your own for snacks, etc.. The really serious downside for our trip this time was that one of our suitcases was damaged and items stolen at the airport. This has never happened to us before, but it is most disheartening. Certainly not a fault of the resort, but something to consider when thinking about Varadero now. We are trying to get compensation from Sunwing now. We'll see how that goes !!! All in all I would give a 3 1/2 star rating and I will think seriously about going back to Vardero due to the airport issue.

This is a very pretty resort, with a great beach and swimming pool, as well as gorgeous trees and nice landscaping. The food was better than I've had in other Cuban resorts - lots of choice, nice fresh veggies and tasty hot dishes. The service was very good - all staff friendly and helpful. I loved the outdoor entertainment in the Courtyard area in the evenings and went to a couple of shows in the "club". My only complaint is that I did not have hot water for a shower the whole time I was there. I did report the problem a few times, and there was some effort to correct it. However, it turned out a water pipe problem close to my room was the culprit. They were working on fixing this during the week.

February 19 to 26th, 2020. This was our 2nd visit to this resort on a last minute booking as our other choices, including the Melia, were fully booked or way beyond our budget. The hotel is descent enough for Cuba, clean and reasonably maintained. While the rooms do need a good make over the staff are quite friendly and eager to serve. Any problem with plumbing or AC is very quickly attended to. Our favorites among the staff were undeniably Chef Vincente and lobby lounge waitress Yadaisy who went out of their way to accomodate us. Alcoholic beverages were grossly watered down unless you drank beer all day!! However the beautiful white sand beach and turquoise water made up for much of any disappointment we felt with this resort. Advisable to give Cuba a miss in January and February as the weather can be quite unsettled. We had 3 days of rough weather and choppy seas unfortunately. Even Scuba diving is off unless you make the 3-hr trek to the Bay of Pigs!!

Iberostar Tainos is so far the best resort I've been in Cuba. Small, with homey filling about it, quiet and friendly - a place you can rest and enjoy. Clean rooms, restaurants and grounds, friendly staff, good food, amazing beach (not too crouded), profesional quality enterntaiment, outdoor dancing party before the night show - everything for your best vacation.

The resort was very clean and friendly. It was pretty quiet, not a lot going on and not very large. The rooms were alright but nothing to get excited about. In typical cuban fashion the food wasn't great. The buffet was very bland. The specialty reastraunts were decent. The pool was not very big and there was no swim up bar, and no hot tub

The perfect resort that you go to for relaxation. Not a lot of nightly entertainment, but enough to enjoy the vibes of Cuba for a short while. Plenty of room at the beach and around the pool with a very enjoyable buffet restaurant. The 2 ala carte restaurants are a bonus.

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Rooms were a bit older, but fine. Beach was very nice and pool was adequate. Food options were plentiful. Nothing great on the menu, but standard fare for Cuba.

The hotel was a great stay for me , the staff were very goid at making my stay as enjoyable as pisdible . Plenty to eat at all the resturant s. The pool and beach were my favorite place to spend my day . I would return there later this coming spring for sure !

This was my third visit to Tainos and it was as good as the first.. The resort is clean and the personnel are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and has something for every taste, including vegetarians. Would highly recommend It!!

I'd like to start by saying the staff are all very friendly and willing to help and get to know you. Very happy people and I don't want my review to reflect badly on the staff. The resort is older, and run down which did not bother me much, it was things I observed. It had to do with cleanliness of the resort. I observed very little maintenance being done on the grounds, walk ways are dirty, would not walk them bare feet, the pool area at night wasn't swept or dishes picked up, you would often see dishes from the day before still sitting there. Garbages alone the walk way weren't emptied on a regular basis. We saw the pool being cleaned only once during our week long stay, and they cleaned it at 2 in the afternoon while people were trying to swim. They should have signs up requiring all babies and young children to wear swim pants. We watched families in the pool with infants wearing no bottoms, very unsanitary for infant and fellow swimmers. I also don't think the cleaning staff has been trained properly on how to clean. We watched them retrieve their water, for washing and cleaning, from a pool or fountain of stagnant water. This was used to wipe down bathrooms and mop floors. They also used the same rag to wipe toilets, sinks, and then wash floors with, then move on to the next washroom. Practices like this can make people very sick and transmit diseases. In the dining area, the table cloths were dirty, not sure how often they were even changed. Some meals we could end up checking 10-15 tables before we found a clean one. In the Buffett area, there were not enough serving utensils and people were using tongs from one dish to another, this brings up issues of severe food allergies to fish, nuts etc. I also watched a cook using tongs on vegetables to transfer to a grill then use same tongs on raw chicken.. He then placed the tongs on top of the raw vegetables. Raw Meat sat out for long periods of time at the out door snack bar, not refrigerated or on ice. Also saw an open box filled with diner rolls sitting abanded out side the laundry shack waiting to be delivered and no one around except the birds. We did hear a lot of people complaining about stomach issues which could have been because of these observations. Staff should be made aware of cross contamination. The rooms, very sparse and uncomfortable furnishings, two wooden chairs,and one was broken. The bottom of the doors need to have a sweep on them to prevent animals from entering the room. (Found a cockroach in our room, as well as little lizards ) I feel a lot of these issues can be resolved with proper training. I did hear gossip that they were under new management, I hope they can turn things around .. At the current time I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Spending a week at this resort gives you a whole new outlook on life, you cannot leave without feeling refreshed, relaxed, happy and well fed. The person who manages this resort does it well. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable, the food is plentiful and very good, the pool is beautiful and grounds are well groomed.The rooms in the bungalow are bright and spacious and the maid services are excellent I have absolutely no complaints about this resort and plant to vacation there again.

Everyday was as wonderful as the last.. we felt relaxed each day. The variety of food was more than enough for us....i dont feel i need to "enter at least 200 characters"i dont feel i need to e ter at least 200 characters .

Excellent staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The bungalow had good AC, plenty of hot water to shower, and a pretty comfortable if excessively bouncy bed. Our energetic and friendly maid Anna kept it very clean and amazed us with her towel and blanket sculptures. The beach is spectacular and the hotel location halfway down the Varadero peninsula is ideal. The pool area is a tropical paradise, and the staff at the poolside bar (especially Julio) will take great care of you. They work very hard but love their work and remember to have fun. The grounds are very pretty and well kept. The only downside was our stomachs had a hard time handling the food. It was plentiful and nicely displayed but seemed to disagree with us. We would still return.

Iberostar Tainos is a fabulous hotel, from the moment you arrive you are greeted by smiling staff at the front desk. Guest services, Giselle is the best, she is there to help you and to make sure you are happy and that everything is to your satisfaction. The lobby bar, Esperanza, Willie, my night time bartender and server you guys are the best! The pool bartenders are great as well. The Animation group, what can I say, you guys are always trying to get everyone involved in the activities and make sure we’re having a great time, and then you’re there to entertain us at night. We stayed in the bungalow and it was great, the room was clean, our cleaning lady made sure we had water, and I loved the creative things she made with the towels. The grounds are very well kept, the food was very good, no complaints, there is something for even the picky eater. This is a smaller resort and everyone knew you and treated you like family, that is what we liked the most!!! The beach was to die for, the water crystal clear and warm. We definitely will be coming back to this resort for all the above reasons. I would recommend this resort to those that want that family feeling and to making friends for life. Gracias!!!

This is our 4th visit to Iberostar Tainos, in Varadero. It's the old story, if it ain't broke, don't fix it !! This is a beautiful little resort situated on one of the nicest stretches of beach in the Caribbean. You don't have to walk forever to get from one end of the resort to the other. You can get anywhere in two minutes. The staff is always friendly, and will do anything to make your stay better. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms have all been recently renovated. We stayed in an upper bungalow unit near the beach and it was awesome. The food keeps getting better and better. Never a problem to find something that agrees with you. We spent two weeks here, and the time flew by. Spent the entire time at the beach. There are over 3 miles over beach, that you can only dream of. Walked every day for 1 1/2 hours. No problems getting an excellent place with a parasol, to sit and relax. I understand that different people have different standards, but believe me this place is the type of resort that you will want to keep returning to !! We have repeatedly returned, and I would not hesitate to do so again. Good luck in trying to find something better.

Iberostar Tainos is a small resort. It is is a bit tired, but clean. Staff was very nice and spoke English very well. It had a nice pool area, but I didn’t try the pool. The best part of this resort is the beach, beautiful and wide white sandy beach with crystal clear, shallow, warm water. It was always easy to find chairs and there was lots of shade umbrellas. Food was average, kind of bland, but there was always something to eat.

If you are nonsmoker do not go to this resort. It's small resort no lineups people are nice food is okay same everyday. Entertainment was not not that great. Beautiful beach just got back. It was very cold so make sure you take sweaters for the evening. Give gifts like clothing to the maid and chef and they will do anything for you.Cubans are beautiful people but go 5 star at Cuba. I nspite of all this we had fun and enjoyed the beautiful Cuban beach must go.

Very nice resort, impeccable grounds,very friendly staff. And very nice rooms. Always chairs available around pool and beach. Food was good. Could use a 3rd "a la carte" restaurant. But the two existing were good. No complaints from us.

This was our first stay at Tainos. We had previously stayed three times at a nearby 3 star resort, but wanted a step up this time. The Tainos resort was smaller than ones we stayed at before, and much more compact. Our regular room was quite nice, and the maid service excellent. The resort has many bars, all staffied by attentive courteous serving personnel. The meals were OK for Cuba standard. However the coffee at the breakfast buffet was dishwater. Each morning after breakfast we would rush back to the Lobby for our delicious cappuccinos. Really enjoyed the live music, although some of the evening shows appeared more amateur than what we saw at other resorts. Grounds and pools are very well kept. and the animation crew very lively. The beach of course was EXCELLENT. We are glad we stepped up to the Tainos.

Just got home from Iberostar Tainos in Veredaro. My daughter and I went for a relaxing get away. We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was beautiful. Weather was in the eightys. We loved the food but mostly we love the Cubans. Such sweet people. When we were leaving we gave so many hugs to all. Such warm hospitality

The resort was very well maintained. The grounds were beautiful. The pool was clean. Food and service were great. Staff was friendly. Nightly music was very entertaining. Beach is amazing. You can walk both directions. Very safe.

We had a great vacation at Iberostar Tainos. The beach is perfect for children. The ocean is truly unbelievable here. I don’t usually care for food in Cuba, but the food here was really good. The hotel stuff are very friendly and accommodating. The only negative I have to say is that the hotel is dated and needs some updating.

All around very good bang for your buck. Always a good variety of dishes. The property was kept clean. Our room was comfortable and well done every day. Nightly entertainment was good. Our interaction with employees came with a smile.

The hotel and surrounding buildings were very clean. Gardeners on site daily trimming flowers and trees. Beautiful landscaping. Very colourful. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned on a daily basis. Washrooms on the resorts always cleaned. The food was good and had a lot of variety. The snack bar near the beach also was good. The beach was great and had games and volleyball. The Japanese restaurant the food was good but not great. The entertainment was great. The bar in the lobby was very good but didn't have no music. Also in the lobby had a few stores to buy souvenirs. The gym didn't have no air conditioning but was ok. The customer service was very good.

Iberostar Tainos is a wonderful resort, small enough to get around without being lost right from the first day and big enough to have the best of entertainment, beach, food and STAFF which makes this Resort the popular it is. Evis and all entertainment and restaurant staff were professionals and sooo friendly. We will go back to this resort for sure. Just one thing we noticed, we were staying at the main building at first floor, above the lobby in room # 1125, the patio door does not open more than two inches and you have to use your force to slide it back in. Those patio doors need to be changed or fixed.

All very good for an older building,but very well maintained The food was very good,The staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed petting the cats.We had brought along some cat treats from home and the cats really enjoyed them.They would follow us looking for more.

This has to be the friendliest place we have ever stayed. Beautiful pool, awesome tasty food in the buffet. Only visited 1 a la carte, so good. Terrific entertainment. Will definitely go back. Love it

I stayed at Iberostar Tainos mid February with my two teenage daughters. The poolside bungalow was spacious enough for all of us to have our own bed. The rooms are a little dated looking but they are clean and we'll kept. I can't say enough good things about Yamilla, who kept our room clean and fresh while leaving flowers and notes for us on the beds. The grounds are lovely and well kept as was the pool and beach area. We spent mornings at the beach, afternoons at the pool and we were always able to get loungers for the three of us. The pool area did get very loud later in the afternoon when they had pool side entertainment. So if you're in a poolside bungalow and are the type to enjoy a late afternoon nap you might find yourself out of luck with the volume of the music and the animation staff on the microphone. The buffet had plenty of selection at all times. Some of the vegetable and fruit options were a little repetitive after a few days but the resort did a good job of offering variations and alternatives. The wait staff in the restaurants are some of the best I've ever encountered in any Resort. Always friendly, smiling and we couldn't have asked for better service. Yes, the WiFi is at times spotty and at times non existent. But we worked around it. Overall a great week with Iberostar Tainos.

This may not be the world's fanciest hotel, but it certainly is in decent enough condition compared to some others that we drove by in Varadero town area. It is clean, the staff from all departments were super nice and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are more expensive options and certainly cheaper options in Varadero, but we are very content with the value-for-money for choosing this resort. The place is not mega huge, like some of the newer hotels, so easy to get around and you get to know the staff, etc. But still big enough to have all you need. It has a relaxed atmosphere, and the hotel arranges activities/competitions throughout the day that you can partake in if that is your thing. But at the same time, they are not overpowering or too loud for those of us who just wanted to chill. If you are fidgety there is enough basic activities to do, but if you want quiet this place is ok too. Entertainment was ok. Outdoor music is decent most nights, and stops early enough that it is not too loud in your room for those with kids or sleeping early. The evening show indoors had a different theme each day and the staff put their hearts in to it and seem to be having fun. The kids club is very basic, so if you are planning on dumping your (especially younger) children for the day and getting alone time, this is not the resort for you. On the plus side, because it is not a 'Disney style' resort fully oriented to kids, there are not that many kids running around screaming! :-) Enough kids for our kids to find a friend to play in the sand with, but not so many kids that you go nuts. Food was ok. But my expectations were set low because all my friends said food in these Cuban resorts was 'not good'. We thought selection and quality were fine, and for the week that we were there, we were ok with it. It is not Michelin star food, but again, I revert back to the 'value for money'. I have not stayed in any other Varadero resorts, so this is only my opinion. But if your budget allows, sure, try one of the 'nicer' 'larger' 'fancier' options on the strip. But if you want to save a little and use that money while in Cuba to go off resort instead, then this is a perfectly safe option without going down to lower 'stars'. Hope this helped.

1st time Cuba, so comparing to global resorts, not Cuban: Not fancy, some small rough edges, but great staff, laid-back atmosphere, clean, safe, fantastic beach, decent food, Great Value 4 Money. DoIt

-Very well groomed grounds -The room was decent but not very clean. -The food is repetitive, not very varied -The beach is magical -The pools are clean and safe -The entertainment staff is always fun. Many activites to chose from -Snorkeling excursion offered on the beach by a separate company for 20 CUC was worthwhile -The Japanese restaurant offers a delicious menu and great service. The Grill restaurant was not good -Trips by taxi are very expensive but the guagua that runs along the main avenue is worthwhile at 5 CUC for the day -Tips are very welcome. They all work so hard!

Excellent service, very clean, well mantain, friendly staff, good variety of food, amazing beach, very good entertainment, prompt service, nice pool, 24 hours food services, nice massage at spa, tennis court and gym

Lovely resort and as we had a bungalow away from the pool and festivities, it was a very peaceful trip. We spent most of our time on the beautiful beach and ate in the a la carte restaurants while we were there. We were warned. The food is bland and not great. I was surprised that it was all true. Sadly the food was awful unless we stuck to the simple eggs, bread, fruit and so on. Some salads at the buffet had some taste, but the two restaurants were sadly disappointing.

Traveled March 25 - April 2, 2017 with my 14 year old son. It is a beautiful resort. The staff are amazing, meals were fantastic and the beach is unbelievable. I can't wait to return with the rest of our family!

The resort was lovely. It was very clean and not too big. The staff were amazing!!!!! The grounds were pretty and well kept. There was always something to do and I met many nice people from all over the world. I have already recommended this resort to a friend.

We just love this place---- we love the service and the rooms are clean and the beach is wonderful. The ocean is just so beautiful we couldn't ask for anything better. The food was good and the people are so friendly we didn't want to leave. This is our 2nd time at this resort and we will go back as much as possible . We just can't say enough about it ,we always hate to come home. The best place to go for your holiday can't say enough wonderful things about Cuba love love it.

The Iberostar Tainos was great! This was our second stay here. We stayed in a bungalow close to the beach and found it clean, quiet and well equipped. The a la carte restaurants we great and the buffet offered lots of choice. All staff were pleasant and accommodating . Beach and pool areas were beautiful, clean and well kept. Our only complaint was the showers we had to use in the gym before we left was awful we were very disappointed. We would go back to this resort again

The resort is old and needs to be updated. We had trouble with our room - air conditioner did not work properly and I got locked in the bathroom and had to have staff get me out. After each incident we were told that it would be repaired tomorrow. Well, tomorrow never came. After 2 days of complaining, we were moved to a cottage. Much nicer and quieter but ended up having no hot water the last day.The beach was beautiful and it was great to walk in the sand. The staff was fantastic. We enjoyed the entertainment in the evening but found that there really wasn't a lot to do at the resort but sit around the pool or the beach. Because the weather wasn't great, we found time long. Definitely would not classify this resort as a 4.5 star resort as advertised. More like a 3.

Everything was great, the resort was clean and beautiful the staff were very helpful and organised. They had activities going on everyday. Great place to bring a family, there was always something to do. The beach was absolutly amazing literally a one minute walk from our room. food was good also

The hotel was very well maintained inside and out. The grounds were groomed and flowers beautiful. The staff were accommodating when we arrived in offering us another room. All staff very friendly from inside the hotel to the beach.

This was our 4th time to this resort and once again we were very happy. We travel with our children (4 & 2 this trip) and the resort is perfect for us. Its small and so accommodating. Giselle always makes sure that we have everything we need for the kids before we arrive. She's wonderful and is probably most of the reason we keep returning because I know she will always make sure we are happy. The kids club is a dream! Lucy does such a great job gathering up the kids and taking them to do a fun activity. The food is great! I understand Cuba is known for not so great food, but we never have an issue with this resort. The rooms are fine. Some drapes are shabby but when the sun is shining outside what does that matter? The beds are great! All in all, we love it and will go back again.

Just returned from seven days at the Iberostar Tainos, the staff are amazing and the beach is outstanding!!!! Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your stay is the best it can be!! The resort does need some updating, the entry way, the stair case , the lobby furniture, the bedding just to name a few! The food does get repetitious but the staff once again try very very hard to make it enjoyable! The rooms are very clean and the cleaning staff work hard. The resort probably has the most accommodating staff I have ever seen and all very appreciative for the tips or gifts we left! We would return to this resort because of the people but would love to see the updates done to make it even better!

The resort is small and old. The expectation will define how good this resort is. I stayed I Iberostar star Ensnachos and this is not to that level at all. Is small resort, the food is not great, however the service was good. No pool bar and 24 hour snack, we spent a lot of time in the town. For the money I paid I expected a lot more.

I had read great reviews on this resort however it was not the resort for me. Unfortunately the hotel part of the resort is in very bad condition from the rooms with rust in the bath tub to musty smell in the rooms. The elevator was scary as well to get to our room. The buffet is very small. I have been to Cuba every year for the past 10 years and this was the smallest buffet I Have ever seen. There was just no selection. I found the staff to be very nice. We looked into an upgrade to a bungalow however for the price they quoted was the same for us to transfer to the Iberostar Laguna Azul so we stayed only one day.

Staff is very friendly but if someone is looking for a good food, forget. Choice and quality of food is at 3 star resort level and friendly servers will not improve that rating unless kitchen staff and suppliers will start their job.

It was our first time in Cuba and it couldn't have been better. The hotel and staff were both outstanding. We were treated royally. The beach was beatiful and we took advantage of both the ocean and the resort's beatiful pool to sun, swim and relax. We had been told not to expect too much on the food front but we found that meals were also good. Had breakfast, lunch and supper at the hotel each day and the waitresses were extremely accommodating and unbelievably friendly. Also enjoyed the poolside food which included hamburgers and hot dogs for those who preferred more familiar food. I would definitely recommend a trip to Cuba and a stay at the Iberostar Tainos to any one of my friends. We're hoping to get back again next year.

Iberostar Tainos is a smaller resort than all the resorts we previously stayed at Varadera and Cayo Santa Maria but the experience at Tainos was just as great. We enjoyed having the dining areas and the beach being so closed to our room. Love the fact that people did not leave their towels on the beach chairs to reserve their spots and not showing up till noon hour. We were able to find a spot everyday under a beach canopy. Like the fact there were lots of garbage bins to keep the beach clean and enjohable for all. The staff were amazing - helpful and warm. Love the beautiful Cubans! The gardeners/grounds keepers kept the resort so beautiful - sincere appreciation to all of you! I like the fact that we can exchange our money without the long line up like we experienced at another resort in Cayo Santa Maria. The room was kept neat and clean and we are thankful for the work our chambermaid Any did for us. It would have been great if the fridge could be restock everyday rather than every other day. It would have been nice if more drinks could be refill rather than just two cans of beer and pop each + a big bottle of water. We did not touch the pop as I do not drink pop nor beer. Hopefully, the main elevators are fixed by now as we had to use a small service elevator throughout the week we were there. The food was average and there was a good selection to choose from. I know people complain about the food but we thought the food was good enough for us as they do not have a lot of resources. Love the three groups of musicians who entertained us daily. They are talented and beautiful people. We will continue to visit Cuba as the trips are affordable and the beaches are amazing. We will check up on other resorts rather than staying at the same one!

This resort and the people that work there are fantastic. Being Cuba you need to deal with repetitive food (was all very good though). The beach was always cleaned first thing and the service was spot on.

Been to Cuba many times including Havana, Varadero, Holguin, Santa Maria since 1996. Iberostar to my understanding is a better service and food hotels chain from internet reviews. Unfortunately, this is not true. We have 10 people, 5 rooms booked in the main building, none of the patio doors works properly, as a result, it was so noisy until 2 to 3 am so no one can sleep well. Service at front desk are rude, bar tenders at the lobby are terribly slow and not sincere. Food are the worst among all hotels we have been. The Japanese restaurant serve only grilled salty foods. The price they charged compare to other resorts that we have been are not worth. Resorts we've been to: Breeze Varadero, Brasas Del Caribe, Tuxpan, Brisas Guardalavaca, Sol de Luna, Sol de Mares, Rio de Oro, Husa Caya Santa Maria, Iberostar Tainos is not worst to stay. Last but not the least, the Sunwing's counter check in person in Cuba was so rude and not helpful. One of our golf bag was broken. I would say this was the worst experience from all our Cuba's trips. Cuban are not as nice as in the past, they changed.

Everything about this resort was awesome. Spent a lovely ten days there with our family. Food, Service, beach and pool were outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Always a wide variety of food, they do the best with what they have. George and Daisi at the pool bar, Glenda at the buffet were always there with a smile and a warm welcome. Would recommend to all.

Solid hotel, very good value for the price, staff was very attentive and well trained. Beach chairs were all well maintaned or new and also plentiful. We did not have to go early in the morning to reserve a cabana or chairs on the beach, this is almost unheard of in Cuba.

The beach was amazing as were the resort staff. The room had ants, given since it was a tropical destination. The food was typical all inclusive buffet style food. Definitely a smaller, quieter resort. Little music on the beach and the resort seemed to shut down at 10 pm. But because it was a smaller resort, the hotel staff got to know you pretty well. Request a top floor bungalow.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely week at the Iberostar Tainos during March Break. The beach was stunning, with a fabulous pool area available as well. The rooms were very modest and simple, but always clean with an amusing little towel sculpture left behind to brighten our day. We stayed on the ground floor of a bungalow and our only complaint was that we could not leave the doors or windows open at night due to the lack of screens. (Although, there were very few bugs). The food was simple but good, and we always found something to enjoy. This is not a hotel for someone looking for marble, glitz, night life or luxury. It is a small, comfortable resort with some of the friendliest staff we have ever had the pleasure to meet.

We have been over 20 resorts in Cuba and D.R. and rate this hotel near the top. We paid for a bungalow which was clean, up dated and comfortable. The resort is small , well kept and the staff excellent. The other patrons from around the world were friendly and more considerate then some places we have been to. We meet some great folks from Britain, Ireland, Canada and other nations who were there to have fun and share the wonderful experience of this unique resort.

Overall good resort. Friendly staff. Beautiful beach. Food was okay, have to pick and choose. Staff at buffet and bars were great, knew exactly what we wanted within a few days of our stay. Would definitely recommend this resort.

My husband & I stayed at Iberostar Tainos from January 23rd to 30th, 2015. I can’t say much for the weather (it was windy, cool and cloudy for the most part) but, overall, we were very happy with our choice of resort. We travelled with my elderly mother & her friend so we were hoping for someplace quiet, intimate and compact. I’d say we found it. The resort itself was well maintained, conveniently laid out and had all the amenities that one would expect for a facility of this size. Our bungalow room was clean and spacious (although a coffee maker & a clock radio would not go amiss here); the bed comfortable. The pool was central, adequately sized and surrounded by an adequate number of chaises. The beach was lovely – broad with lots of palapas to go around. The buffet was, as is often the case in Cuba, merely adequate. We were all, however, rather impressed by the quality of the a la Cartes (both Creole and Japanese). And the daily lunchtime barbeque by the pool, with a little mini-buffet and great Cuban music to aid the digestion was also a favourite. In truth, the best part of Ibertostar Tainos??? The people. The lobby and front desk staff were top drawer – helpful, warm and possessed of a great sense of humour. The maids were great and the wait staff at the pool bar (Julio, George & Maybi) really made us feel at home. I’d recommend this place to my friends on that basis alone.

Grounds were excellent, room was a disappointment, service was excellent and staff very friendly. Only thing that we did not care for was the food. It was the same thing day after day and we did not expect cold cuts.

This is our 3rd stay at Tainos. The resort is small, and there are no crowds to fight for meals or for a parasol at the beach. We keep returning for one main reason. That is the beach. We have been to several locations in Varadero, Cayo Coco, and Santa Maria, Cuba. Also several locations in Punta Cana as well as Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Not one can hold a candle to the beach at Iberostar, Tainos. Aside from the beach, the staff at Tainos take a backseat to nobody. They are extremely friendly and obliging. The resort is starting to show its' age, but they are in the process of renovating the resort, and we were in one of the newly renovated rooms. It is absolutely lovely. The food in Cuba is certainly never the main attraction. That being said, we never have a problem finding something that agrees with us at this resort. in fact, the meals are actually very good ! To sum up, if you are coming to Cuba to relax on the beach, you won't find a better place. Everything else simply makes your ability to do this very appealing. Enjoy !!
