My wife and I stayed at Meliá Varadero and had a very pleasant experience overall. The resort is clean, the rooms are well maintained, and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. When we requested a king-size bed, they couldn’t do it the first night but moved us to a renovated room the next day as promised. The food was fair and good for Cuba, with a consistent variety including chicken, beef, fish, and pork. We did not experience any major food shortages, despite some reviews suggesting otherwise. Having stayed at several resorts in Varadero before, I would say this has been the best overall experience so far. Overall, I would recommend this resort—provided you set your expectations appropriately and remember that this is Cuba, not Aruba or some of the higher-end Caribbean destinations. With that mindset, it’s a very enjoyable place to stay.

We had a wonderful trip, but this was a sad ending.

Good food, no shortages, amazing staff, very good drinks and bartender's. Recommend the Level for the lounge and check in/out. Great nightly entertainment. Great value for the price. Maid service was very good. Kept our room really clean and exchanged towels twice a day. Also refilled our fridge. Never had to ask for anything.

The Hotel was the perfect size for my wife and i as we arent into the Mega resorts anymore. The grounds were beautiful, the staff in general are amazing and kind.Room was newly renovated and posh. Lots of food and very few mosquitoes. My only rant about this resort would have to be about the pool. Needs a lil TLC and the fact that it wasnt a swim up bar made no sense, because its actually a swim up but not close enough to reach for a drink from the bartender

The hotel was very nice beautiful inside, our room we stayed in was really great also the maid we had for the week was phenomenal she was so kind and sweet always made something with the towels on our bed with fresh flowers (we stayed on level 4 beach view) the food is Cuban but there's always something for everybody pretty disappointed and not having the variety of fruit that we normally have or some of the fruit being less than ripe but still fine, we didn't find the pool to be kept very clean at all and not enough chlorine in the pool, the beach was very nice a bit rocky for our liking and not what we are used to for varadero beaches but still good! The staff are lovely.

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and well kept. The view of the ocean from the patio area outside the lounge bar is amazing, It is at a higher elevation. The beach is stunning and you can go out a fair distance without the water being over your head. The two pools are very nice with one being slightly elevated above the other. Plenty of lounge chairs to go around. Organized volley ball in the late after noon. There was also fun dance fit in the pool. The staff do a good job of trying to engage you to participate. Special thank to Julio whom is the sports representative. Julio was very informative about what was going on at the resort and got us set up on the pickleball court. He even filled in when we were a player short. Julio is remarkable, a great sports player and a very good representative and advocate for the Melia Varadero. I was in one of newly renovated rooms. It was extremely clean, the air conditioning worked and the mattress very comfortable. Your wrist ban has a small metal tag with a chip that opens your room door. It also opens and closes your room safe. The breakfast always had plenty of fruit, omelettes, and a variety of pastries, There are some good deli meats and cheeses if you want to make a breakfast sandwich. The serving staff line up and greet you and clap when they open up for the days breakfast. For lunch, I chose to go to the beach bar for a burger or the snack bar for a burger and fries. Dinner also had a very good selection. For Cuba, the food at this resort was better than other Cuban resorts I have been to. There were no shortages, the week I went. You may want to consider the Level which is a higher cost package, having more options. I have been told this and will try it on my next trip to see if it is worth the extra cost. The overall service by all staff was very good, and above all, they were friendly. What sets them apart from other resorts is their response time to deal with issues that can happen. I had a issue with my safe not opening and the repair person was at my room within 15 minutes. When I had a clogged drain the repair person was also within 15 minutes. At other resorts you don't know when they are going to show up ! The only negative thing I can say is from a Health and Safety issue. The entertainment was good but they played the music too loud . This entertainment is located just outside the lounge bar where you can have a drink and watch sports. Some people always think louder is better and get offended if you politely ask them to turn it down. The music was distorted, as it was so loud. Staff would not turn it down when I politely asked. I left as I did not want hearing damage. I was not the only one. Dance and entertainment is important part of Cuban culture and I understand that, but it was also important to many Canadians whom wanted to watch the world series. Perhaps Management at the resort reading this review could consider relocation or at the least turning the volume of music down, so it is not distorted and the music can be appreciated !!!! Management, please take the time to go on line and read about decibel levels to protect the hearing of your employees and customers. Once hearing damage happens it cannot be reversed! You can invest in a decibel meter or use common sense and turn it down! I booked through Monique Kwirant of Trip Central, whom provided exceptional service. Monique even called me to see how my trip was. Monique is very personable and articulate. She was very efficient and a great asset to the Trip Central Team. I have never been to a Melia resort before and they seem to have a higher standard. Management appears to be doing a good job as their employees appeared happy, they provided good service and there was a team concept. It is well maintained! I would suggest you go to this resort as it offers great service and value for your money.

We’ve stayed at Meliá Varadero several times and keep coming back for a reason! The staff are amazing — friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The buffet offers plenty of variety with delicious meats, fish, and sides, and the desserts are to die for — big compliments to the pastry chef! The grill restaurant served the best paella and lobster we’ve ever had. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are renovated, and the atmosphere is simply perfect. The beach is stunning — white sand and turquoise water. We’ve been to many countries, but this hotel is the one we always return to. Highly recommended!

Everything was great. Keeping in mind this is Cuba, we couldn’t have asked for more. Resort staff were all amazing, Gilberto was extremely helpful from the moment we arrived. Ended up being upgraded to a room on the Level because of maintenance issues in our original room. No complaints at all. Pool and beach are nice and close so you can switch from pool to ocean all day. Will be returning!

Layout of the hotel is good. The staff and the service are good. Food is below average. Beach is very good. No hot water for two days. Air condition gave trouble. The fixed it. No coffee machine. Only a kettle, with no coffee supply. The whole hotel has no black tea.

What can I say? The staff was beyond amazing and friendly, the resort was spotless and well appointed. Rooms- clean and air conditioned! Food- great selection (especially for CUBA) with extra things like condiments ! The A la cartes where pretty good but if you didn’t like it could always hit the buffet but be advised you need to get up very early (8 am on Saturday)to book your A la carte reservations for the week Kids club- our daughter was 14 months and too young to be left but the staff were amazing and she enjoyed playing there with other kids and the staff adored her. It’s a good safe place with AC and do different things for the kids everyday Entertainment- we only went to Cuban night on the Wednesday but it was so cool, great outdoor buffet, classic cars , professional dancers and performers ! The other nights was late for us 945 as we had the baby so I can’t comment Pools- we’re cleaned everyday and never a shortage of loungers around the pool THE BEACH- wow all I can say is so clean so beautiful and never a shortage of beach chairs ! And super accessible from the resort we could even walk our stroller directly down to the sand it’s approx a 2-3 min walk from the resort Things to note: bring your own travel cups and water bottle for drinks as the flimsy paper cups are annoying Bring lots of sunscreen And also bring. A little fan as well

We are first time in Varadero resort and had a great vacation. Hotel is well kept, as well as aground. Room was clean and we got renovated room. Staff is very friendly. A lot of entertainment. Food is good for Cuba.

One of the best we ever went. Great service, clean, very good food selection. Recommend! Beautiful beach. Always umbrellas available. Pool area not that big, but good taking care of. Entertainment can be improved a bit, specially the evening shows.

Great resort, amazing staff, spectacular views and the food was some of the best that we have had in Cuba ( it was our 12th trip there ) Highly recommend it !! The only downfall to our trip is that it is not very a good resort is you want to use a scooter or a walker !! No access to the adult pool or go to the beach which would have been nice to be able to do !! We would rate it a 4****

Hotel room was wonderful, the food was plentiful and very good, room service was great. Had a massage and it was super and really affordable. There was no communication as to what was going on at the resort for example we did not know about Cuba Day and others things.

We just returned from a great week at this property. This is our 6th trip to Cuba and first since COVID. The property is compact, well kept and on a beautiful beach. We upgraded to the Level and enjoyed room service for breakfast each morning and our teens enjoyed it late at night. The Level allowed us to eat at the a la cartes nightly which was a welcome treat from the more limited buffet. Cuba is suffering with huge inflation and food shortages but we felt this resort did very well with what they have and we were never hungry. The service was always wonderful and we felt so welcomed. Activities were very limited but we weren’t there for the nightlife. We plan to return!

Not only Melia Varadero met our expectations, it actually exceeded them! The hospitality and service during our stay was exceptional. Everything, from the accommodation to the delicious dining options were impeccable, and the beauty of the beach goes without saying. Everyone makes sure you feel like home when vacationing at Melia Varadero. We made friends with lots of people: Leacnet, Abraham, Jorge Contino, Lizandra, Eglis, to name just a few... We've met Marco, the general manager, who is always there, making sure everything is ok, chatting with people, always smiling. We had friends who went at Melia Varadero before us, and they told us about the picture perfect vacation they had. And we could experience it as well. We decided to upgrade our vacation to Level, and it was worth. Breakfast and lunch daily at TexMex is reserved for Level clients. And it is the most picturesque view you'd experience. The bar from the 5th floor, only for Level clients, is the perfect place to have a cocktail and a chat before heading out to dinner. We recommend Melia Varadero to anyone who wants to spend days being spoiled and relaxing on the beach or at the pool.

We absolutely love Melia Varadero. We were there 20 years ago and the updates at the hotel were stunning. The beach is beautiful and the staff work so hard making sure the resort and grounds are kept beautiful. Staff always friendly and helpful. They worked so hard at making Cuban Fun Day a great day.Definitely will be making this a yearly trip to the Melia.

The resort was great clean and well kept. There was plenty of food and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The weather was superb. Was great having the mall right next to resort and shorter from the beach little waves but water was so clear. I definitely would recommend and return.

This is my 1st vacation to Varadero/Cuba and was so lucky to land Melia Varadero...Such an mazing stay, service, and all...I would not say too much as what has already been mentioned here by others and in details...a unique experience and get away. Whether its food, restaurants, rooms, bars, entertainments, grounds or beach...it was just all together top of the top! A special thanks to all the dedicated amazing hard working and big heart/smiling staff of the main buffet restaurant...also the incredible top team of the main bar...Best Cuba Tuesday BBQ party, and also Saturday night beach party!! these guys know how to party and bring in the best to the beach!! A few minor things to mention but perhaps will just pass them to management later... In my opinion, this place is epic...do not even 2nd think about "Melina Varadero" this is where to be and where to go back again and again...

The hotel was well maintained and in overall good condition. The service was excellent and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the layout of the property and the beach was very nice.. in my opinion much better than the pool area, but thats probably a personal preference more than anything. Only tried one ala carte restaurant and didn’t find the food difference sufficient to warrant another reservation at one. Buffet was large and had lots of food options. Quality and availability of some items was hit and miss but exceeded my expectations. Overall it was a great trip and I would return to this property again!

Approx 1500 people in resort. Modern, Food and drinks good. Sunwing flight times from Kitchener Suck. Arrived at Hotel after 11pm arrived home after 3am 10 minutes from Airport. Checked website at Kitchener airport parking $60 per week plus $8 for additional 2 hours . It came in at $128. Never again. I can get a limo to and from airport for $43 each way. I am 73 years old with low patience. For the first couple of days we would go down for breakfast at 9 to 9:30. The second day I waited 45 minutes in a line for an omelette. Gave up.By the end of the week we were going closer to 10 am when it was not so busy. Internet was non existant. Rooms were small unless you paid roughly $800 more for the Level 5th floor. I have been to Cuba over 40 times and love our friends at the Golf course. The staff is excellent and work very hard. Our old friend one day worked 18 hours straight. We knew 3 employees at the Hotel and they were very helpful. The beach is nice but with so many people chairs are scarce. The biggest problem I found was waiting in lines. Not my type of holiday. Don't bother with the Alacarte's . You have to book them daily at 7am with a 50 yard lineup. The female Sunwing rep on our first day tues. made us wait for an hour and then she said she would be another 1/2. hour asked the male Sunwing rep on Sat the 24th and he was very cooperative. I asked the lifeguards if one could help me move a chair about 50 feet and they said get the chair man. I went and got it myself and told him I would have given him $5. He said FU. They are 300 yards back from the beach. I don't know how they would save anyone with a beer and a cigarette. I have trouble with stairs and don't like elevators. There are about 30 stairs to the beach. If you like a nice burger on the beach the beach grill is nice if you want to wait for 45 minutes. We love the Cuban people but we went to a 3 star small resort and had a much more relaxing time. Everything is close. The people at tripcentral who we book with are the best. They have the best and simplest website. I would probably do better if we went back but I don't think so now. You know how Canadians talk about the food in Cuba. Don't worry there is no problem with food in this resort A1. Lots of Beef

I love that the Melia is situated on a wide expense land right next to the beach. Lots of room to move about, lots of room to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a nightcap! It’s great, having an option to book unlimited visits to one of the three inside restaurants. I especially enjoyed going to the international restaurant and seeing Roberto and Betsy on all three occasions (they are wonderful & their crepes rocked)! It has a wonderful expense of beach, and there were always lots of loungers to go around! All the staff were wonderful (our first housekeeper, and our last housekeeper went above and beyond). The only I can say about the resort is that our room was on the cool side and at night it was too cold (although once under the extra blanket, they provided all was well).

Overall amazing resort! The staff were over the top helpful, kind and extremely friendly. The resort was incredibly clean and room service was top notch. The food was very good with lots of variety. The beach was simply beautiful. The only downfall was the wifi, limited to lobby area or very close surroundings. Would definitely recommend this resort without hesitation!

It was our first time to Cuba. I was warned about the food but never imagine it could be so bad. Not to mention the staff at the buffet filling plastic water bottles they serve to guests with tap water. My daughter was very sick because of it. Dishes were dirty. Most of the staff gave us the impression that they don't care. Only a few friendly faces. Rooms are nothing like in the pictures on the website. They burned trash 100 feet from our room all night and almost poisoned us. Had to ask room service to change our sheets. They didn't clean the bathroom either. Just gave fresh towels in a dirty bathroom. The rest of the resort and beach were very well maintained and very nice.

We’re very happy we choose this resort and had a great week in Cuba ! The location is fantastic, only a 10 minute taxi ride to downtown Varadero, which we went to 3 days for shopping, eating out, chatting with locals, and stopping for some Cuban rum lol! The rooms are simple, but clean. Beds comfortable. The A/C works very well, in fact almost too well ! The staff are beyond friendly and accommodating, and very very grateful for your tips. The food is the only downfall i can speak of for this resort. The choices are very limited for breakfast, thankfully you can make a ham and cheese sandwich if you don’t care for eggs. Dinner at the ala Carte is very very good though. Pool is wonderful, lots of choice for chairs in the sun or shade, and the beach area and ocean stunningly carribean and just beautiful. Would definitely return.

We enjoyed a week at the Melia Varadero. The Cuban employees at all level were beautiful and very accommodating however there were many extremely rude cuban guests at the resort. we did not let this ruin our vacation and maintained our manners . Food was as we expected but the beach at this resort is a real let down. Rocks everywhere. we would walk to other resort to enjoy the water the rooms can really use some attention

We stay at the Melia Varadaro all inclusive resort from March 12-19, 2022. Wow. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and very accommodating. The resorts grounds were clean, floors shiney, and the food was superb all around. The pork was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife and the steak was thin yet tender. Oh did I say how good the sweet potato soup was and the chicken soup, reminded me of my mom's homemade chicken soup. Did I say how awesome the staff were? The staff that should receive a raise or at least the employees of the month award are The resort was perfectly located, not to far away from the airport, a short 2 minute walk to a shopping center with an open market out back. We did two excursions, the Jeep tour and the all day Havana trip. Wow! An amazing time was had. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who is visiting and wants to experience Cuba. If I had to give this amazing resort some constructive criticism it would be the meat in the La'cart restaurant was a little bit salty but very tender and the buffets pasta was a bit strachy, all The other food was amazing.

We stayed on The Level and we think that the extra cost was well worth it. The beach seems to be eroding at an alarming rate, but we enjoyed playing in the surf. The food was pretty good, considering the challenges that Cuba faces, and by staying on The Level you could have lunch at the Tex-Mex restaurant which helped to break up the monotony of the buffet. You could also book as many a la cartes as you liked, which was nice, and wine was available at all the bars throughout the day (as opposed to just with dinner like some resorts). The rooms were clean, great views, the staff was friendly (mostly), and we were always able to find a lounge chair.

We were upgraded to a suite which was great news. The room itself was dated, furniture stained, chipped bit the private terrace and view were spectacular. The food was decent. Buffett was not appealing, what you would expect but the a la carte restaurants were very good. Service was just ok. It's a large resort so many different people were serving you. The one big thing lacking was nightlife. There was sometimes someone singing in the piano bar but after 930 or so there wasnt much to do

Awesome place we go back there again and would highly recommend itSuper friendly stuff only problem we had was the cleaning lady when I was in keys and took a towel is that we brought from home. The hotel was close enough that you could take a scooter or a bike and go into Varadero

Everything from the moment you walked in just feels right! It is a beautiful well kept resort and the staff are amazing. They go above and beyond for their guests. I’ve been there twice and we plan on going again next year. If you can upgrade to the level, I highly recommend it.

Resort grounds are a bit on the smaller size than most Caribbean resort, but this hotel did the job nonetheless, we upgraded to the level section which is recommended, we wanted something we got it, service was fast and always available, spoke to other guest not on The level and their experience was different mostly due to weather out of 10 days we had sun for 3 so a lot of days we were inside which the resort interior is small as well so it led to busy common areas. Our experience was nice it wasn't the best location or resort I've traveled too but it did the job. Beach areas are okay but it is not on the main varadero strip and it has lots of rocks in the ocean which is not the case on the main strip. Pool water was always freezing, they seem to pump cold water daily in it.The food was great no issue there, this resort have amped up the cuba bad food rep, we ate well all week. Look I'm not picky we've managed and it did the job but truth be told the above are facts and should be known.

my father and I stayed at this resort and I hoped for a bit more. I keep in mind that Cuba is not Vegas but there were small things that were definitely lacking. Overall we were pleased but small things could have made this stay better. The cheapest plastic cups. A swim up bar 2m away from service. No hot tub. 24 hour bar food was not good. The hotel also lacked ambience. Past 11 you might as well go to bed. Nothing at all to do

Needed a getaway to unplug from work and other life stressors take in some sunshine fresh air get that vitiamin D we all need to endure our long cold Canadian winters. No cell phone no internet, just a book a glass of Brandy and a good Cuban Cigar and get back to basics. Walked daily ate healthy at a Fabulous Resort the Melia Veradero. I simply called my go to travel agent explained what I needed to decompress 3 days later I was off. The staff were gracious and very polite to deal with throughout this resort. Rooms were clean the grounds were beautifully maintained and the beach was glorious. Now when it comes to Cuba folks are always concerned about the food, let me tell ya you will not have that issue at this resort as the food was excellent to say the least. I ran into many vacationers who are returnees to this resort probably more so than any other resort or chain I have vacationed at over the years. I now know why as I will indeed be returning and bringing my family to experience this Melia Resort. So Melia Veradero get ready for another happy traveler who will now become the next traveler to become a multi return visit vacationer. I would like to put a special shout out to 2 staff in particular that work at the main bar the lovely bartenderness Seniorita Fatima who's happy demeanor and infectious smile makes you feel like you've known her all your life. And lastly Luis Miguel a young eager to insure all his table serve customers are happy and feel welcomed yet not overbearing just genuine charismatic personality. As a business man who has hired over thousands of employees this young man has potential to be a valuable asset to the Melia Team whom I would not hesitate to invest training to see the heights this young man can obtain. Melia Veradero I thank you for a providing me with one if the best Vay Cay I've ever had. I say Cheers to all the Melia Team OUTSTANDING !!

Hotel staff friendly, beautiful beach, fun entertainers. Dwayne Wade would give this a 9/10 but i would give it a 9.3 at least. On an additional note, bring ketchup packs and hot sauce with you and your own sunblock unless you are trying to pay $20 for a bottle of it.

The hotel was maintained beautifully, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and while Cuba is not known for their food I found this much better than my other trips. Also the beach is incredible.

We booked this vacation last minute and were a little terrified that it wasn't going to be great, we were totally blown away by how amazing this hotel and the staff were. Everyone was so sweet and kind, the front desk staff took their time to make sure we were comfortable, our maid Zenaida was perfect! Everything was clean and impressively manicured and the food was really really good (we had been warned about the food but were pleasantly surprised) If you are a foodie or are someone who finds problems with things easily you might find issue with the food (blander than we are used to here in Canada) you might find issue with the rooms (a tad dated) you may not like the pool (no shade or swim-up bar) but if you can look past these flaws ( really can you even call them that??) then you will have an amazing time at a resort that is as relaxing and welcoming as it is beautiful!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay this past week at the Amelia Varadaro. Our room was clean and comfortable with a large balcony. All the staff that we encountered whether at our room, in the bars, in the a la cart, or the buffets or the front desk we were treated well and felt very comfortable. The warmth and kindness of the Cuban people keeps bringing us back.

The beach is amazing, and the rooms are comfortable. The buffet was huge and even a picky eater can find something to eat. The a la cart restaurants are amazing! Our favourites were the international and the Italian. Christobal at the piano bar makes the most AMAZING mojitos. We will definitely go back.

The hotel was clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Staff did not seem to expect to be tipped but were grateful when we did. The beach is beautiful and the water is completely free of weeds or stones. Nothing to really see while snorkeling but I’m sure you could find spots further down the beach. The pool is too cold to swim - they must be adding cold water constantly. The hotel is a quick cab ride away from the main strip which has flea markets, a “mall” and The Beatles bar - which has live English rock. The only bad experience was the food. The inability to import food was evident in the lack of variety at the restaurants (very limited) and the empty store shelves. The a la carte restaurants were good and provided some relief. Not sure I’ll go back to Cuba while there are such restrictive embargoes in place.

I just returned from a wonderful weeks vacation at the Melia Varadero. My very first trip to Cuba, It was everything I expected it to be and more. From a personalized check in and wonderful reception by the Lovely group of Receptionists. They were always there to answer any question and exchange our currency. No need to go to the front desk!! I cant say enough about the personalized care by the concierges,The food at the Melia resort was excellent! The food was fresh and we didn't have one bad meal. The buffet always offered something different each day. The options from fresh cooked fish, pasta, and meat allowed us to mix up our lunches and dinners so that we always had something different. The breakfast was always great as well. There was the option of having a freshly prepared omelette or fried eggs with all the sides. Fresh croissants and fresh fruit were also available for all meals. There was a large selection of desserts and ice cream, Every day there was a variety of local cheese available. The hotel and the grounds were well maintained and very clean.The restaurants were also very clean and organized. No matter where we were in the resort there was always a member of the staff cleaning or tidying the hotel. The only complaint I had was the masquitoes I got bitten all over. Overall,I would recommend this Melia Varadero to anyone traveling to Cuba .

Overall amazing resort, great location, beautiful beaches and the nicest of employees. Entertainment was exceptional as well as the nightlife. Absolutely no complaints of my stay. Overall I was very impressed and would definitely return.

This resort was kind of dated inside the hotel itself. Although it is very grand on the outside and pool area. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. If they for some reason couldn't understand what you were asking, they would get someone to help you. I travelled by myself, and at no point did I feel unsafe or limited with where I could go or see on my own. The staff made sure you were well kept n safe at all times. The entertainment staff was so welcoming and specifically asked if I wanted to play basketball. After we played for a while a couple kids and there father joined in. The nightly entertainment/ disco wasn't good. As for food I thought it was fantastic. I didn't enjoy much of the breakfast options but as for anything else it was great and tasty.

The guy next door to us tried breaking in to my room drunk twice security did nothing. Another night the room next two us had a domestic dispute security refused to do anything. I couldn't get sleep. I booked a room with a king bed they pushed to twin beds together. My room sometimes would not get cleaned up. There is no server's around the pool to bring you drinks and the pool was dirty. The food on the resort was awful. Overall it was the worst experience I've had out of 10 trips

We had a great stay at Melia Varadero. Everything was really pleasing from our room, the resort, the beach and the staff was so attentive and friendly. No complaints at all! However, the food was not as nice. This was our first time in Cuba, so we don't know if this is just the quality of the food overall. The staff did what they could with what they had, but if you are looking for a food experience this may not be it. We did go into town and have meals out which were pretty good and the reservation restaurants were not bad. The buffet was pretty limited in what we we could stomach. With that being said, the culture of the people, the unbelievable beaches and the resort and staff was enough to love our vacation and not regret our choice.

We upgraded to the LEVEL, so it definitely made a difference. Food and service were incredible, separate beach area, a la carte restaurants for lunch and dinner every day, etc. Would definitely go back!

Hotel is very efficient. Great check in/ out, food services, etc... Good location. Beach beautiful and clean. Only disappointment was the rooms. Very dated, old blankets, washrooms, and balcony (door didn't;t work )... Felt like need a big overhaul

The hotel was fantastic! My friend and I went for 7 days and had the greatest time. We met so many people because we had an open attitude to saying hello to all the friendly travellers and employees. Employees , especially the daily bartender crew were so great! A trip we won’t forget. I’m happy we went into downtown Veradero too. One thing I would say is the bar could use a general upkeep and cleaning as bugs were crawling around. More entertainment needed at the resort. Room had dirty sheet and moldy cup holders but after that everything fine and bathroom was spacious. Enjoyed the volleyball on the beach! Would definitely return to this resort.

Melia Varadero was one of the best resorts I’ve stayed at in Cuba! From the beautiful well-kept beach to the great adventures downtown Varadero, there is something for everyone. My friend and I went mid-March and had a wonderful time. We had a standard room which was nice, bed was comfy, kept very clean, only downfall was the calcium buildup all over the sink handle and in the shower. We did also experience small amount of mold on the cup coasters, otherwise the room was just right! As for the rest of the resort, very well kept and clean, service at main lobby bar was ok during the day (bar tenders could have been a bit more lively), but the bartenders at the pool and beach and at the lobby bar are night were incredible, friendly, out going and fun! The food at the buffet was really good, variety was goodt, and service wonderful. The a la carte were very tasty and again service great. The daily entertainment at the beach included volleyball tournaments and aqua aerobics which were a lot of fun, from kids to the elderly partook. The nightly entertainment unfortunatrly I would say the biggest downfall of his resort. The nighty shows /events were not that good, not wel coordianted, and overall boring. In addition for those younger folks (20-35), the resort gets quiet really early around midnight, and the piano bar closes at 1230 AM. However there is a 24-hour snack bar open around the clock with food and drinks but I would advise against the food, not very good. Also, getting to downtown Varadero couldn’t be easier. With a hop on hop off bus for 5 pesos all day (rate and times change at night time) a block or so down the resort, easy and quick to get there and explore the markets and restaurants. And for those interested in the night life in downtown Varadero, couldn’t have asked for more safe and fun experience as 2 young women. La comparsita, la cueve de la pirata, and la bamba are great spots for either live salsa/Latin bands, salsa shows and dance clubs, respectively. Some other highlights: beautiful villa called Masion Xanadu just down the beach past the neighbouring resort (Melia las americas) provides one of the most stunning views I’ve ever seen overlooking the golf course and ocean from the roof top patio in a historical, world heritage site! Shout out to few of the nightly bartenders Dayan, Onedio, and Alexander! So much fun, attentive to service delivery, and kind.

5th visit and the hotel keeps amazing me! The grounds are amazingly beautiful, the beach is fantastic, with one side having entertainment and one side being more quiet, the food was even better this time and it's always been good! The staff...what can I say...you will never find a more helpful, friendly, efficient staff. Will be going yet again!

The hotel is nice. The ‘level’ rooms on 5th floor are updated and clean. There is a great lounge on the level too with 24 hr drinks and food at meal times. The pools are decent- no swim up bar. The beach is gorgeous but not accessible unless you can handle stairs. Buffet and al a cartes are very basic and repetitive daily. Buffet seating needs to be cleared more often. Decent wine needs to be purchased. Wifi even when purchased additionally on the level, is spotty& drops frequently . A long user name and password are required every time you want to use and can only be used in lobby or on the level. Staff are friendly and thankful for tips. Overall-I would not recommend this hotel because of the wifi and food issues.

Hotel is going through renovations but it's still pretty good, location is great and the beach is awesome! The food was average, service at the bar was a little slow, our room was clean and all the elevators in the hotel were working.

The hotel was lovely and our room had a gorgeous view. The bed was so comfortable and our room was cleaned and restocked every day. We really enjoyed the food, the kind and attentive staff and all of the amenities. The hotel was close to the stunning beach and the ocean was breathtaking. We were utterly relaxed and well cared for and are counting the days until we can go back!

We loved this resort! The beach was great and was such a close walk from the main building. The water was turquoise with soft sand leading into the shallow area that went pretty far out. The staff was so friendly and helpful anytime we needed assistance with anything. The entertainment was fantastic and the bartenders were skilled (especially the mojitos). We thought the food was good, especially the Mexican restaurant & it was easy to make dinner reservations. It’s not a large resort and it wasn’t crowded even though it was at capacity during our stay. All in all a great experience so we will definitely be back.

The people at the resort were excellent, the beach was very nice. The snorkeling directly off the beach was not great but you could get taken out on a catamaran for 20 cuc. About 500 meters offshore it was amazing snorkeling. I feel the resort/ room itself is slightly dated. I feel for the money we paid, the resort was not as nice as we expected. We upgraded to the Level and again the people were great but we got an older room with two beds pushed together rather than a king bed. An old bathroom and the room was quite small. We are not likely to return to this hotel/resort.

Needs a lot of renovation. Needs wheelchair access to the beach especially. Food not so good . Grounds was well manicure. Bed bugs in room and was bitten. Workers were helpful and polite. The maids was very helpful. Needs to have a plan for people who have to check out at 11:00 am and flight is 10:00 p.m. no where to shower and change.

Hotel needs update. Food was not that great very bland. Japanese was the best. Grounds was well manicured. Our room has bed bugs. We were bitten. Workers were amazing and extremely helpful. Needs ramps for access to wheel chair. People with wheelchairs could not go to the beach. Booking a specialty restaurant was next to impossible. Overall we had a good time because I went with my kids and grand children.

Our stay at Melia Varadero was great overall. This was our first trip to Cuba. I was skeptical at first after hearing bad reviews of resorts and food. I have to say, our hotel was really good. It is a big resort. It is considered a 5 star resort. I’m not sure it would be a 5 star if you were at a different destination. The staff were great. Very pleasant, always informative if you needed something. The rooms were ok. The beach was great. Long stretch of beach to walk along. No one was in the pool during our stay, but the area was very clean and well kept. The food was overall very good! All of the A La Carte restaurants were amazing. I highly recommend booking reservations at them all. The buffet was my only complaint. The food never changed, it was the same food served everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was always entertainment at night. I felt like we waited a long time to be served drinks no matter where you were. I feel like we were ignored until they felt like serving you. Some waiters were great while others were not. Carlos at the pool bar is amazing! Abraham at the piano bar is great as well. Overall it was a great week. I highly recommend travelling to Havana to see the culture and atmosphere.

My boyfriend and another couple visited this resort in mid January. Weather was great!!!! Cloudy at times but the perfect break from the sun. The beach is stunning and along the penisula. The resort its self has good food and THE BEST STAFF, so hospitable. I high recommend THE LEVEL upgrade. We upgraded when we got to the resort and it was no issue at all. It gives you access to a bar/cafe upstairs that always have food/premium beer etc. You also get free golfing which was great.The rooms were clean and comfortable. The entire resort was also immaculately clean. Our only downside to this resort was that we really enjoy a swim up bar, and a bit more of a lively animation entertainment.

The Melia Varadero is a fabulous resort! The hotel is beautiful, the staff are very accommodating and the beach is lovely. The buffet has something for everyone, although they could take some lessons on how to cook pasta. We didn’t go to the specialty restaurants, so can’t comment on that. The entertainment in the piano bar after dinner was first rate, but the show at 10pm was too late for us to attend so I can’t comment on the shows. We would definitely go back.

We were so glad to chose this hotel for our vacation. The staff is very friendly, extra careful without being so much and the manager was very kind and caring And the food...... Surely more on the expensive side, but you will have many options, and each one we tried was just great. If you have a chance you need to spend some time here. Every aspect of this hotel is perfect, Would gladly come back!

We had an amazing stay at the Melia Varadero in Cuba. From the moment you walk through the doors till the moment you leave, the staff welcome you with open arms like family and ensure you have an amazing stay. The hotel is clean, food is good with many options, and there is always something to do. Can't thank the Melia staff for giving my wife and I an amazing 12 yr anniversary.

This hotel is located on a beautiful beach in the middle of Veradero.The hotel has great food and lots of al a carte restaurants to choose from which are all excellent.The pool is decent with a pool bar that has great service for drinks.The entertainment is the best i have seen in Cuba from professional dancers,piano players,bands,and mimes that entertain every evening.The rooms are very comfortable with great views of the beach or pool area.My only complaint is that the elevators are very slow but theres always the stairs if you are in a big hurry to get to all the great activities and beach to enjoy the volleyball,the 24 hour bar and restaurant,buffet restaurant or out for a tour of Veradero.I would highly reccommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cuba.

Overall our experience was great, no issues at all. The food was average and service was good. But we had an amazing time. The country is beautiful, the beach although it has a lot of rocks on the main side was gorgeous.

First impressions upon entering lobby is wow – clean, open and spacious Hallways to rooms air conditioned and clean Our room 1118 was a corner unit, spacious and had an amazing L shaped balcony – approx 7 ft wide x 27 ft x 18 ft., two loungers, 2 chairs and a table. Dining room – buffet was large enough that you never had to wait for a seat – typical of most Cuban resorts except larger selection. Ala carte restaurants are amazing, great food and service. Piano bar had most of the high end drinks you will not find in the lower end resorts More than enough loungers around pool and the beach, obviously not all of the loungers were in the shade. If you like extra long walks on the beach, this resort is restricted by the rock out cuts into the water which you could not walk past.

This hotel (Melia Varadero) was so clean and very pretty. Our room was always spotless, the people so friendly, The food was good in the buffet but the A la Cartes were out of the world wonderful. The grounds were so pretty and well kept. The location is a little too far out of Varadero for us as we like to walk in town everyday and you have to take the double decker bus which stops running at 9pm or a taxi every time. The only complaint I would have would be where the beach is situated. It is clean and nice, there are some rock at the edge of the water BUT it is stuck between two huge rock outcroppings so we could not walk for miles like we always do every time we go to Varadero. I would definitely go back again.

I’ve never been to Cuba before and so am impressed with this beautiful beach, the various pools and grounds of the resort and excellent variety of the a la Carte restaurants. Highly recommend this resort as it had it all. Friendly staff and it’s close to Havana so day trips are possible.

Pleasantly surprised with this resort. In need of some updating but we found the staff very friendly and helpful. We were a party of five so were able to eat at a specialty restaurant each night. The food was good and the presentation was excellent. Beach and water were great. The ocean was the most amazing colour if blue. Wifi was down for the seven days we were there. Would go back again.

Food was not good, even the pineapples were not ripe. Beds were of poor quality. On the up side there did not appear to be any bugs in the room. With regards to service, it depended on the attitude of the particular server you got. I would choose another hotel if I was to return to Cuba

The hotel and pool areas are nice and in good condition We stayed in a "Level" room on the fifth floor. The room was modern and nice. We found out that the wifi will not connect to some cell phones. The internet centre was also out of service for the entire week that we were there. Service was good, especially with the extra services included with the "Level" package. The food was overall poor. Much of the food at the buffet was only luke warm, perfect conditions for causing sickness. Meat portions were small and generally not good. The buffet did make made to order omelets that were good. We had reservations at the Japanese restaurant, only to find out that they had double booked. We had to sit at the counter at the back wall. It was embarrassing. The beach is overall poor. The pathways to get to the beach are dangerous. Lots of large rocks in the water until you get out to the sand bar.

I suppose some 20 years ago it would have been a five star resort. It is well maintained, but the furniture is getting old and squeaky, the wind blows around the window frame, etc. On the plus side, beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The buffet restaurant has a good variety of foods. I would recommend the International a la carte restaurant. Try the swimming with the dolphins in the ocean experience. You can snorkel right off the beach, it’s very nice. We will come back!

Beautiful place with wonderful service. You will be welcomed and looked after there. Very professional night performances. Wi-fi is extra. Food has tons of options. Lots of activity on the beach. Souvenir market with cafes and shops is right near.

I had a fantastic week at the Melia Varadero. The grounds and pool were clean and we'll maintained. The beach was spectacular. The staff was excellent, especially Humberto Reyes, who took care of guests in the VIP beach section. The a la carte restaurants are great. I loved that the red or was beside the Plaza of Americas which has a bank and bank machine. It's across from a golf course. I upgraded to The Level which was amazing. Loved it.

We stayed at the Melia Varaderoin January 2018 on the Level. The Service was amazing Mabel's team did not disappoint, including Umberto at the beach. Everything was taken care of for us, we can't say enough about the service and the upgrade perks were most defiantly worth it. We enjoyed all the a la carts, my favorite was the Tex Mex steak house. Buffet staff was friendly and quick to clear the tables. Entertainment staff was engaging. I would recommend this resort.

It was almost a perfect holiday, but it was our first time at this resort and we felt it would not disturb the environment if the beach was cleared of all the rocks. It certainly would have made a difference if we had been able to safely take the kids down to the sand and let them go into the ocean.

We loved the compact feel of this resort as everything was close by (restaurants, bars, pools etc). This resort is very clean, even the outdoor bathrooms. The food was plentiful and good, no issues. The one issue is that there is a beach bar but no bathroom on the beach so every time you needed to go, you had to walk all the way back to the pool area. I highly recommend this resort.

The Hotel is surprisingly in good shape after Irma. There is some damage to the balconies which are currently being fixed. What I love at this hotel is the proximity of everything, beach, restaurants, pool. The staff is extremely friendly! What I found is missing is some entertainment at piano bar located outside. There was no music at night in that area.

The check in was fast. they had five elevators, but only 3 were operating for our 5 day stay. the Lobby was clean. Lots of seating on the main floor. The lobby bar has the best drinks and bartenders. The room was spacious with decent decor. Nice view of the sea. Rooms are close to elevators too. The Buffet food was okay, good restaurant service. The towel service was quick. Enough lawn chairs outside to lounge. Great music throughout the resort. They were repairing and painting a large portion of the resort, but this was due to the hurricane. But this did not interfere with the stay at the resort. They usually do this during sunrise or in sections not frequently visited by visitors. Along the beach you can see the path of the hurricane. Several palm trees were destroyed, sand from the ocean was dumped on the pavement walking area, and workers were building bamboo hut umbrellas. The water was pretty warm for most of the trip, huge waves. Ample shade if you don't feel for too much fun. The shows were okay, great singers and dancers, but at times the speakers were wayyyy too loud and deafening for the audience. The resort has souvenir shops and a plaza very close by. Great options for souvenirs. There's also a double decker bus that picks you up from the resort and brings you downtown varadero for 5 CUC, which was amazing. You can walk around down town Varadero and visit the local shops.

We just returned from Melia Varadero, after staying a week from August 12th to the 19th. Firstly, the hotel as you enter is very pretty, marble tiled floors and pillars. The hotel is very clean so no worries. We booked two rooms, one for my husband and I, and one for our two sons. We asked for adjoining rooms but we couldn't get that upon arrival. It was ok though, we were only a couple of rooms apart on the same floor. My husband and I were in room 4109 and our sons in 4111. They had the better view. Both rooms overlooked the tennis courts and ocean in the distance but the boys' room was on a corner and had an unobstructed view. Our room was a bit over the front of the property so the only drawback was buses and cars ran underneath our room and at times woke us up. We were going to change but in the end we decided to just stay as the view was pretty and the room very clean. Only negative was the king size bed was extremely hard. Water pressure was great and lots of hot water. Mini fridge stocked with sodas and beer. Always fresh bottled water. The grounds of the hotel were very pretty. The pool closes at 6:00 p.m. which was disappointing, but there was always the ocean, which is gorgeous! We were blown away at the turquoise crystal clear water. The beach has been affected by the storm last winter and it is quite rocky, however, once you are in the water the sand on the bottom is fantastic, nice and firm. No seaweed at all. The first day we went to the beach on the left which was disappointing. Full of locals and lots of garbage thrown in the ocean, such as beer cans and bottles. We quickly discovered a path in front of the property by the sea that lead to the other side where the beach is rocky but the ocean is not crowded at all, in fact we were often the only ones there, and the water is so clean. No garbage at all! We went there everyday. There is a lot to do at the hotel. They have music always playing at the pool as well as Zumba in the pool and volleyball and salsa lessons. The entertainment at night was amazing. We couldn't get over the musicians and their talent. After the evening show it is always followed with a "disco" where many younger people attend. Our sons were in their late teens/early 20's and they met tons of kids their own ages. They had a blast. The only negative I can really say is that the pool wasn't deep and not very clean. It appeared as though they had a problem with their filtering system. It was beautiful though with a bar in the centre (not swim up though). The food was fine, no one in our family was sick, and there are two of us with delicate stomachs. We ate what we wanted and were fine. Many drinks had ice and we were just fine. The breakfast buffet has a lot of choice, different than what we are used to, but always something to eat. Our lunch was always at the restaurant by the ocean and it was great, loved the fish. Lots of fish and rice...beef not so good though. The a la carte restaurant, Fuerventura (sp?) was great. The lobster was delicious. All in all a fabulous trip. Make sure you go to Havana on a day tour, well worth it. On the down side, the plane was delayed 3 hours and it didn't take off until 12:45 a.m. so that was a drag to end our trip with. Weather was fantastic! Had a great time. A special thank you to Tanya from Trip Central, she was great! Make sure you budget money for tips...this was something that got a bit overwhelming at times. Where ever you go people want tips so be prepared.

We just got back from a two week vacation at this hotel in Varadero. It was our first time in Varadero and we really enjoyed almost everything about the hotel. The staff was amazing, and we really, really appreciated all the help we got from Humberto at the beach!! He really takes care of every client at the beach. We upgraded to the Level, and it was really worth it. All the staff at the Level were really friendly and helpful. It's a very clean hotel and we enjoyed the food. On the down side, we didn't appreciate the loud music on the beach and by the pool. It was too loud and it was constant. Sometimes we couldn't go out on the balcony and enjoy the view because of the REALLY loud music by the pool. On the beach, even if we were on the Level section, we still could hear the music. The only restaurant we didn't enjoy at all, is the Fuerteventura. The steak was so hard we couldn't eat it!! And last comment, we didn't appreciate having to pay 20 CUC for two towels that we forgot on the beach chairs. It was our first day at the hotel, we were very tired and we didn't know that we had to bring back our towels. The manager downstairs told us that they would try to find the towels, but if not, we would have to pay 10CUC for each towel. If you go there, always bring back your towels with you!!!!

Was impressed by this hotel as everything was as expected or higher than expected. Everyone we met was very friendly. The beach was amazing and we often did snorkelling right off the shore line. Great resort.

Dear friends at Melia....I have spent a beautiful week as a single person in Melia Varadero at the beginning of April. My time there has been every little bit wonderful as I was hoping. Vacationing alone was never causing a single issue and made it for even more interaction and caring by the hotel staff... Melia Varadero Hotel is kept in excellent shape, well maintained and clean. My room (436) was beautiful, on the 4th floor, standard with ocean view. Everything in the room was lovely, and it was kept clean and welcoming by my sweet maid, Jaqueline and supervised by Balkis....Both where extra friendly and helpful and went beyond their jobs to make my stay wonderful! The hotel is situated on the lovely stretch of white sandy beaches, and even though there are some rocks on beginning of the beach and a bit of walking to "clear sand", it was absolutely georgeous. Landscape, views from the grounds, sunsets and many places to sit, relax and look at the ocean make it for amazing experience. Two outdoor bars are excellent for the morning coffee and breakfast or those daytime mojitos, coffee stops and casual sitting in your bathing suit.... I enjoyed chatting with the wonderful and acommodating hotel staff (Luis, Dania and a few others)... I visited all of the hotel restaurants except for the stake house (dont eat red meat) and can recommend all of them. Food was very good especially when you get to know what are the specialties of each one... My favourite place for lunch quickly became either Trinidad, by the window, with excellent calamari and white Spanish wine or deliceous paella in Brasas...at night I loved visiting Brasas again for atmosphere, food and people; I also enjoyed my sushi experience and an evening at more upscale Fuertaventura with amazing food and nice music... Among best restaurant staff is the trio in Brasas: Erianna, Henry and chef Dashael; preparing great food, serving you with smiles and are so lovely and friendly...! Entertainment in the hotel was very good, excellent young dancers and animation team, active but not too pushy, though is a little noisier by the pool as usual... I joined aerobic classes with Daira which where great... Live daytime music was lovely, thanks to the wonderful and talented Trio Vocal Renaserra... who are awesome entertainers and became my dear friends so quickly... Please keep them !!! Special pleasure were visits to the lovely and affordable art gallery in hotel, as well as chats with Liudmila who will cheerfully book your restaurants and make great suggestions...Reception was very fair - one and only issue with my room phone was fixed right away. The only suggestion for hotel would be a fresh coat of white paint outside and not as loud evening music in disco which didnt disturb me, but can see it a problem for guests on lower floors. The place I did not enjoy was the buffet restaurant: it is too big, too loud (lots of cutlery and dishes dropping) and definitely needs redesigning of some sort....Food there didnt impress much either, but fresh juices were great! ...then I didnt need it much with all the other food options... you can also take the breakfast and eat outside as well....I used to spend most of the time at the ocean, but pool is very nice and clean and makes for great alternative. Plenty of showers, lots of towels.... Smiles, sun and music everywhere... Overall, it was an amazing stay and I would definitely recommend Melia Varadero and people who make it so special...Cuba and wonderful Cuban people never disappoint!

All was good did a great job on my daughters wedding.. Staff was good... Buffet could use a bigger verity of food... Overall a great trip... Beach is the best... Had a good time going into Veradero in the old car's... Always enjoy the Cuba people

The hotel was very nice and was in a clean state at all times. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Booking restaurants and things in the hotel should be a bit easier but other than that it was fantastic!

There has never a time I've been to Cuba where the people of the island don't helped to create an incredible experience and holiday. This resort for me to was too large, the buffet restaurant food was very below par. They could really do with a decent chef. The environment is extremely noisy because of the low ceiling in the buffet restaurant. The Japanese restaurant served up frozen coined carrots. The beach was amazing. Riding a CAT out to the reef just in front of the beach for a snorkel is in amazing.

The resort was great with the exception of the food. I would suggest upgrading to the upper levels in order to eat at the a la cartes every night. The beach was beautiful and weather was great the entire time.

The areas around the resort were very clean and all employees were very respectful. Facilities were always usually stocked and easy to access. The surrounding area and being close to downtown varadero was a nice feature of the resort.

The hotel was very clean, the views were absolutely amazing. The beach was fantastic, close to the hotel. It was so nice having the Plaza right beside us to do some shopping. It was really easy to get to downtown Varadero from there, and really close as well. The food was very good, their breakfast buffet was good, and most of the a la carte's were really excellent. Would definitely go back there in a heart beat. I also had my wedding there, I was so nervous beforehand, but Rosalind took care of everything, and it was just the most perfect day. I couldn't ask for anything more. Truly awesome.

The resort and accommodations were excellent and well maintained throughout the duration of our stay. Stayed in the ocean view suite and loved the view. The beach was amazing, and is where I spent most of my days.

Beautiful hotel and great service! My favourite part was the resort itself it was very beautiful and clean. The service was also really great. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to a friend.

There were some good a la carte restaurants. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner was below average. Nice bar and some nice entertainment options. Nice and friendly staff, place, beach, cleanliness.

I have been to varadero 3 times this hotel is the best in cleaning rooms was amazing washroom in all areas all the time was perfect and clean we were too much happy except with the food the buffet was discusting only one of the ala cart restaurent was good the rest not great

The grounds were very nice and well kept, the staff was friendly. The pool wasn't heated but the beach was very nice with no vendors to bother you. The buffet had plenty to choose from although selection never changed. The food was nothing to write home about.
