Beautiful beach! Beautiful pools and kept very clean. Grounds beautiful and manicured. Bar staff exceptional and so talented at making such great cocktails especially at the Pool Bar. Food very good, sometimes not a lot of choices. Main meat cut at carving station very good! Hotel very run down and not well maintained. No housekeeping provided and hard to get fresh towels even after asking front desk several times. Easy to get pool and beach towels which was nice. Very dark on pathways at night time since light bulbs not replaced on pathways.

Room a bit dated but otherwise clean, and comfortable, was in 3352, the walkway needed a bit more lighting, food quite good, beach so beautiful and clean, the staff very friendly had an amazing time I would definitely return

The highlights: A world-class, nearly mile-long beach with plenty of lounge chairs, solid umbrella stations, and stunning ocean and mountain views. The sand is clean and perfect for long walks, and the amazing turquoise water is ideal for swimming. The weather is warm and sunny almost all the time, with a wonderful cooling breeze in the evenings. Unlimited drinks are available in endless variety, served by fantastic staff at the Coconut Grill Bar and The Palms Bar. Special shoutout to Neil for his excellent service and cheerful, entertaining attitude. The nightly entertainment at The Palms Bar is also enjoyable. The buffet offers good daily variety and is generally satisfying, with highlights such as tasty soups, BBQ ribs, roast pork, and an impressive selection of excellent desserts. The less impressive aspects: You need to line up very early to reserve a spot at the à la carte restaurant, which is only available every second day (and closed Sundays). If you get a later seating, some menu items may no longer be available. The rooms and buildings are more in the 3-star range, with some visible signs of aging, though the beds are comfortable. Overall: Definitely recommended for a fun, relaxing all-inclusive vacation.

The grounds,beach and pools were all great. The food at the resort was excellent. We are fairly picky and the selection and quality was quite good. We didn't get sick from either the water or the food which is always a bonus. The staff were not on the friendly side but management staff were exceptional. My friend ended up sick with pneumonia while there and had to be in the hospital for two days. The management were amazing helping us to navigate this. One of the managers even visited her in hospital. If you ever have to go to the hospital while on holiday I highly recommend asking what you need to bring with you. The hospital conditions were appalling. So, definitely ask what to expect. We would go back to this resort. It is a 3 star. Definitely don't expect more. Also, the resort has 4 floors and no elevator. If you have any mobility issues make sure you let them know when booking.

Hotel and grounds were as expected. In need of some updating and sprucing up, but pretty clean with comfy beds and breathtaking views!! Staff was hit and miss, some polite, helpful and friendly while others were down right rude (especially at the front desk. Paulette was pleasant, others not so much) Managers Clinton, Terrance and Vida (?) were exceptional. I got sick and they really made me feel cared for! Clinton especially went way above and beyond even visiting me in the hospital twice and driving me back to resort when discharged. Both Clinton and Terrance made runs to the pharmacy to pick up medication for me. Very caring individuals!

We enjoyed our one week stay at this very nice resort. The grounds are large and beautiful with lots of sitting areas both outside and sheltered. I made good use of the two very large and clean pools and found it a great way to cool down from the heat of the day. I happen to be a picky eater but actually enjoyed the food- there is a lot of variety to choose from and the quality was better than expected. There is a helpful travel booth on the premises where one can rent a car or book all sorts of day trips. If I went back I would ask for one of the new rooms. Ours was an old room that was dated and frankly not very comfortable. Housekeeping does not come unless you request that they do. All in all the staff were friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs.

I loved Antigua, - it’s such a beautiful island! I chose this resort for its beach which is a 5+ star. The pools are also beautiful. I chose it knowing that its facilities and service were 3.5 stars - rooms were very basic but clean, no housekeeping services unless you paid for them which was okay with me - I was able to switch out my bath towels easily. The food was good but only one al a carte which you had to line up early in the morning to get in that night. The biggest disappointment was the lack of activities/entertainment in the afternoons and in the evenings.The views of the beach (swimming was excellent) and sunsets made up for a lot though.

The hotel is dated but the food was good and the beach was amazing. They only have one a-la-cart restaurant the other is a buffet style. They do not clean your room daily unless you pay for it. But you can get clean towels by asking at the front desk and they will send some up. The staff are very friendly.

The beach and ocean were absolutely amazing. Location was really the only positive point here. Our room had one plug that could be used, no ac for 4 of the 7 days we stayed and minimal hot water in the trickle of water that came out of the shower head. Rooms are not cleaned and if you ask a few times they eventually get you fresh towels. It was literally easier to use your beach towel and change it out everyday. Service was a hit or miss but mostly misses. If you can stay else where do so.

Well there is a tourist tax that trip central did not advise of We book lobster lunch boat tour through trip central after being advised it was the cheapest price. To find out when we got there the resort offered it less expensive So overall not impressed with trip central We have been home a week and still have not received our reward speaker that was to arrive in the mail for our booking

If your going for white sand and blue waters this is the place to be it's also in a great location for adventuring around the Island. Everything needed is Near by. The hotel it self has lots of potential very beautiful, but needs even just minor repairs like fixing doors, paint job... and that would make a difference. The staff besides a few are horrible it's basically self serve self everything on site God forbid you make a request. The resort crowd itself is also 65+ so think of retirement home vibes very quiet, but we did are own thing and expected that so it wasn't an issue. Just don't expect a party vibe. The most crazy it got was when the old English people started singing drunk Karaoke at 8pm. the food is also horrible sadly Cuba vibes the best was Caribbean night Thank God for Ox tail.

This is one trip I will cherish. The Hotel could use a little or alot of updates but I still love this resort very very fun lots of sun and sand the entertainment was great. The food all around was okay lots of varieties love the bbq chicken and burger shack

Hello I have been to this resort before and not much has changed. This resort is in desperate need of repairs. There are no elevators no bar fridge in room the air-conditioning never works. Any requests are always ignored. There are nice people with a few bad apples. Oh and last this resort has no ice machines it sucks to beg for ice.. This resort has resort fees.(not cheap) There tipping is insane this is a all inclusive resort but if you don't a tip.expect to wait.. The beach is breathtaking don't buy weed from the beach..Garbage.. but they do have good stuff,but good luck finding it.

My family enjoyed the experience. Half the family are scuba divers that the diving was great fun. Other half were beach and pool volleyball. Took hour long walks on beach and area with whole family. Family being quite active, were amazed by the abundance of food and the great atmosphere with it; ate a fair share!! I failed to mention in booking my oldest daughter is tall and her son is also at 6’2” and where given a room of a single standard bed for both. I switched with them for my single queen bed. Being the busy holiday season, there wasn’t any individual bed’s available. It didn’t detract from having a great time there! Coming home was a bit of a challenge, my boarding pass was on standby, and told me no seat available. My oldest daughter suggested they help or the other 5 members of my family would need to be removed from the plane. Fortunately I got the very last seat, that normally used by flight attendants. Since all worked out, these aren’t complaints, but notes for future planning when bringing the whole family.

Jolly Beach was a great small resort. It had everything you need. Beach and pools were fantastic. Rooms were small and simple, you don’t spend much time there anyway. Our room was cleaned on day 6 of our 7 day stay, you could request a different day or more frequent but we didn’t know beforehand. The buffet features a different menu each night, and the food was good quality. There was only 1 table service restaurant, Italian which rotated 3 menus. Reservations needed to be made day of, and if you were not at the desk before 7:30am you would not get a table. Drink and poolside BBQ service was slow. No poolside service. We needed to-return our own dirty plates and cups to keep our area clean and free from birds and bugs. Security kept way unwanted public beach visitors. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Grocery store nearby and a few other restaurants. Island was very safe and we often walked around outside of the resort. Overall not a 5 star by any means, but we knew that going in. Great people and fantastic site, would definitely go back.

We love this place. The rooms are old and dated but they all face the ocean or pool. The buffet is a bit repetitive at times, but you will not starve. The long bar is the highlight! You will always make friends and have an awesome time. The best part is the beach! It’s spectacular!

We had rain 4 to 6 times a day all week, until the tropical depression (Jerry) went through. Prior to Jerry we had water dripping 24 hrs a day in 3 places in the bathroom ceiling. Water was coming through the wall under the bed. We used every towel we had, including loads of beach towels, We could not get anyone to come to our room to change the towels, asked several staff for help. We had to take the wet towels to the front desk each day. Saw the maid once on the day before we left. At one point the water was running down two walls. And the meals were being served in the only restaurant open was the buffet. There were no windows, just netting. The floors were covered in large areas of water. Staff were trying to keep up with the water wearing rubber boots and raincoats. We spoke to several different staff at the front desk unsuccessfully. We had two channels on the TV. I took photos because no one would believe the story. You could not pay me to go back there, it was a horrible experience.

The beach is beautiful but hotel needs upgrade. Overpriced for what is offered. Lack of entertainment and bar shuts down at 11.The rooms were not cleaned for a 7 day stay and pipes broken. Not sure what resort fee is for.

The resort is clean and kept up by the maintenance staff. The Beach was clean, white sand and there were alot of places to lay down with shade. The lunch on the beach was really good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are dated, but clean, the beds are comfy and the air conditioner and fan kept us comfortable. Our screen on the balcony was broken, but not a big deal. The Pizza restaurant requires reservations that had to be made very early.. Like 730am and there wasn't a guarantee that you would get in. To be honest the buffet was waaaay better. Buffet had a lot of variety, something for everybody and tastes really good. Entertainment is decent

being it was a 3 star, that is exactly what we got. As long as you go in remembering that, you will be ok. The hotel is old and outdated, the rooms are old and tired, there is a lot of room for upgrades and improvement. First resort I have been to where you dont get your room cleaned unless you stay over 8 nights. You can get your room cleaned if you pay $10 per clean, which we were told would happen before we went BUT at check-in, they didnt bring it up or offer it to us so we forgot. Days later after not having our room cleaned, we asked about it. The lady who talked with my friend said 'sure, we will clean it tomorrow' and 'we can do your friends room too', well they got their room cleaned and we didnt, when I asked the next day I was asked 'did you sign a form to get your room cleaned?' I said no, then I was told it was an error that they cleaned the other room and they shouldn't have gotten their room cleaned without signing and agreeing to pay. In the end I never did get my room cleaned, but they did bring up new towels and bathroom supplies. Which I must say the bathroom shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were wonderful, my hair was soft and shiny all week. Our friends had issues with the toilet in their room but we didnt. There were also a number of blackouts over the week, only lasted up to a minute but still happened, and there was no water one day, we were on an excursion so we didnt notice but that is inconvenient. There is also only one sit down, make a reservation restaurant, which works for the number of guests but we like more options. The buffet was very well done but buffet is my least favorite type of meal. The staff were friendly, the beach was gorgeous, the pool bar and pool dining were great. would be nice if they had a food station available for in between the buffet and restaurant, there is no food available for late night snacking. Excursions were fine, we booked through the Air Canada rep, cost was fair. Island is very pretty and small enough to travel in a day. Most side roads are terrible but you get that in every small island. Overall, we had a great time, lots of sun and relaxation which is what we went for, the rest are just details. So, if you are ok with the 3star rating, then go and enjoy this resort.

The beach and grounds of this resort are beautiful as are the two pools and two raised gazebos. Enjoyed the burger/hot dog/chicken grill on the beach and the bar. The hotel staff were mostly sad or not accomodating and often lied to you when you asked them for something. I was told that "all of the phones are under water" when I told them that my phone was broken so I couldn't contact my friend who was in a different area of the hotel. The 3rd floor room was very small with a narrow concrete bench and concrete end tables. After being moved to the first floor (after multiple trips back to the desk and being told that the manager was not in) , I was given a first floor room where the phone didn't work, the sliding screen door didn't slide and there was a large animal hole right outside the small patio. This room had an old dresser and night tables. There was a pipe in the ceiling that was not covered with a screen. Every night I cleared crickets and other bugs from my floor. I am not sure if they came in the pipe or under the door. The covered front desk/ waiting area is small and the only other outdoor covered area near the hotel was a coffee area. Breakfast and supper meals were fine; the lunch buffet was insufficient and birds were constantly in the fruit bowls which had no covers. Not sanitary or appetizing to have bird poop on your fruit. There was only one sit down restaurant - an Italian one and you needed to book it at 7.30 am.for that day. This hotel was rated a 3 star. I would rate the grounds and beach a 5 star, the staff a 1 star and the interior rooms a 1 star. For the money, stay somewhere else.

The resort is aging for sure. Restrooms around the resort are in need of some major upkeep/renos. Bedrooms very small, but we only slept there so not a big deal. Rooms are never cleaned unless u book a maid 24 hours in advance at $10 a clean. This was not communicated very well. Our king bed room had no fridge/coffee maker etc, but heard the 2 double bed rooms did. We never saw a groundskeeper in the 7 days we were there, I almost got taken out from a large bush branch sticking out (I wasn’t paying attention), it was gone 2 days later but the other 6 smaller branches were still protruding all week. The food was fantastic! Pizza factory (only a la carte) was great (not just pizza), but reservations are required and you can not book 2 days in a row. Unfortunately food is not 24hours as there is no sports bar or area for later in the evening, just breakfast, lunch and supper. No late night eats. Could put something in the coffee cafe from 10-1:00 am (fridge with wraps/subs from lunch). Playing cards til midnight requires some snacks lol. Beach was beautiful, excursions were nice- jeep ride, catamaran cruise, and a local taking us by taxi to the city and across the island was fantastic. Weather wasn’t the best, rained several days and the resort has very limited indoor areas to stay dry. No daytime entertainment and limited night time entertainment (which was fine with us). definitely an older clientele. Staff was hit or miss for friendliness but it seems like they could use more staff which may be relevant, especially in the bars. More training needed for the bartenders, we left many a drink behind because we literally couldn’t drink them. Small market huts on the beach, people very nice and not pushy. Enjoyed ourselves but would not return.

Had a great time at this resort. The pros were the amazing beach, friendly staff and good food. We met more people on this trip than any we have ever been on. Friendly atmosphere! Would highly recommend paying the extra to get the king room. The super saver room is literally a jail cell (almost had to store our luggage in the balcony) with only a double bed. Not keen on the daily line up for the a la carte but the buffet was good!

Fast answer: we wouldn’t go back. The beach: beautiful powdered sand always cool to the feet. The water was calm every day. Really easy to find a seat no matter time of day. Pools: no one used them. At all. Everyone’s at the beach, pools are small and rather boring. Rooms: this was the biggest mistake. The rooms are tiny. And we paid an enormous amount for a “super saver room” and there wasn’t even a spot to put one luggage and no closet space. Washroom was tiny but ok, stand up shower with a weird column running through it and peeled off broken tiles up top. You get a physically key for in room safe at check in. No mini fridge. Two outlets to plug in Canadian stuff. Decent free wifi connection in the room. No room cleaning or changing of towels unless you call it in ($10USD). Ask for towels or toiletries for free anytime you like. Food: lacks flavour and anything that does have flavour has curry. Desserts are also bland. I’d compare it to what people usually say about Cuba, though I e had better food in cuba. Service: there were no specific arguments but you can just tell the reception staff are generally rude. The hotel has an archaic check in system and room keys on bracelets. Staff is super nice everywhere but front desk. Entertainment: they had something every night except Sunday. None of it caught anyone’s attention and people just ignored it. One night was a karaoke night. Another was a one man show who sang and played a keyboard. Another was a one woman show with a DJ that felt like a boring wedding with songs like YMCA. Everyone just hung out at Long Bar and chatted. Amazing bartenders who impressively kept up. 60% of people were from Canada (mostly Toronto and area or Windsor), 30% from UK and 10% from the US.

- Food was very good. Many options at all sittings. No complaints there. (4.2/5.0) - Rooms were dated but I new that going into this adventure. Paulette at Reception was great as she accommodated us with a new room as the first room had a few deficiencies that we advised her about (Best to voice your finding at the beginning) (3.5/5.0) - Grounds were clean all around.(4.0 / 5.0) - Beach was very good although semi murky blue waters. (4.2/5.0) - Drinks were fine as I'm primarily a beer drinker. That said, cocktails were fine as well. (4.0/5.0) - The one (1) Restaurant' was acceptable but then I'm of Italian decent and am picky with my food from an Italian based format. (4.0/5.0).

While the main pool and beach is amazing and most of the staff is friendly and we were aware that it was a 3 star, but it was very run down, the food was below mediocre (I’ve had better in Cuba) 4 out of 7 days there was no running water on resort and management didn’t do anything to ensure we were taken care of. Travel companion and I were sick during this time and with not having the basic necessities of water… it was absolute hell! The resort advertises no children under 12 at the resort and 4 days during our stay we had seen small children. Staff were picking bugs out of food with their bare hands in the buffet and nothing was covered as there was an astronomical amount of small bugs and they had the buffet lights off so you couldn’t see what you were getting or eating. The infrastructure of the resort is crumbling before your eyes, and it needs a lot of TLC, better yet it should be closed and demolished. This resort is definitely not for the elderly or anyone with breathing conditions as there is only air conditioning in rooms (if they work as some guests were complaining theirs didn’t) there is no where for them to get out of the heat if need be, especially the buffet. The fact that there is a daily cleaning fee for an “all inclusive” resort is ridiculous especially after coming out of a pandemic, cleaning should be automatic! This place is a health and safety risk! Spend the extra and go elsewhere!

One of the best vacations I had taken in a long time! The rooms are small! Oh well! Just sleeping! The beach is to die for! The food at the buffet was good! The beach grill was amazing. I loved that the A La Cart switched up their menus every other day! Would I be back! For Sure!

The hotel was quite shoddy. I was quite disturbed at the fact of no electrical outlet in the bathroom to plug in a hairdryer or curler. We had to eventually move some furniture in the bedroom to allow us to look in the mirror instead of the TV screen to do our hair. I had taken "treats" for the maids but they came home with me as we never saw a roomservice person the entire time we were there. The food was hit and miss, some days quite good and other days not so much. I was also disappointed there was no wifi in the room and the only access was near the lobby and bar area. On a number of ocassions the staff were not very friendly and acted like they were being "put out" if you asked a question, other times they were lovely. It was not what I would call a service forward resort. The room had a nice view of the ocean, but had definitely seen better days and was a long way from the main part of the hotel. At night the entertainment was lacking. The one singer/entertainer they had near the lobby was excellent. People sat around drinking or playing cards, etc. The saving grace for this resort was the beach and the ocean! Would I recommend it, no.

The beach is beautiful and there is enough food to keep you fed. It's a basic hotel that has everything you need to enjoy a reasonably priced holiday in Antigua. I am thankful for all the negative reviews, because I was relieved and pleasantly surprised to see that each room appears to overlook the ocean. What else could you ask for. If you want better service and more activities, pay the extra money and stay at the Sandals.

Area and beach are great. Hotel has not been updated in years and very much needs updates and attention. Room was tired and grungy at best. Things are broken or missing, closet door won’t slide open, patio door very difficult to open, no plug ins in the bathroom. Anything reported to the hotel staff or WestJet rep was never acted open at all. Staff is not engaged or friendly. Until work is done to the property, I would not recommend staying there.

Jolly beach resort is a very outdated hotel What makes this hotel very good are the people that work there and the people who live there When we got there were were created with open hands an lots of cannabis,so font worry about scoring there..( don't buy weed from the resort it's no good there are so many better places to get some.. The food at the resorts was very good. The pool was beautiful and the ocean was to die for.. if possible try to take a day trip to Barbuda and see the most beautiful pink sand beach.. . It's very safe to go off the resorts they have lots of things to do and see..

The beach is magnificent! You can see Monserrat, St Kitts and Nevis from the beach. There are mountains and the sunset is to die for. The resort food is good. The rooms indicate you get what for you pay for as they are very outdated. Wifi sucks! The location is nice because there is a marina, restaurants/bars in walking distance. In all, a wonderful trip. I feel safe. 6th time back!!

The hotel is exactly like described. It is a 3 star resort missing some basics amenities like bottled water and housekeeping. Food and service was good and beach is amazing. We had a great time because we knew what to expect. I would recommend for a budget vacation. We went for the beach and it was amazing with beautiful sunsets. You can see they are working on improving everything.

Being processed at the airport was fairly fast and the same with the airport shuttle. Upon check-in, we were quickly processed and driven to our room. Pros: - our bed was very comfortable - fabulous beach (5/5) - loungers were very plentiful everywhere - staff were very friendly - entertainment was ok Cons: - our bathroom floor was always wet due to leaking toilet - shower water came out deep yellow but that only happened once - lots of hot water; very little cold - no fridge to keep meds cool - no bottled water - housekeeping on 7th day only; otherwise $10/day - had to proactively seek towels and toilet paper - TV reception awful - WIFI mostly available in lobby; signal is weak - 1 buffet/1 à la carte-food was just ok…2/5. Outdoor grill good - barely any outdoor maintenance taking place. Many walkways were crumbly - part of resort closed due to maintenance so this could be a bonus if they renovate the whole place - we noticed 3 groups asking for upgrades and being turned down. So, didn’t even bother - sometimes they’d run out of key alcohol (vodka, gin) - We’re not pool people but pools need full overhaul (2/5). That’s the only reason we rate “beach/pool below as a 3. They should be rated individually - seemed more like a 2* resort at best

Quiet spot and not overcrowded. Rooms did not have coffee machine or kettle or bottled water and no cleaning or fresh towels over 7 days. Some bartending staff could be friendlier to tourists as country depends on tourists.More training needed. Beer was average and only one choice. The beach was very nice and the sunsets were beautiful. Restaurant staff were quite good. The food was adequate for this hotel with ample choices.

Beautiful grounds amazing beach. Very attentive staff. However it needs upgrades to its facilities and needs to provide organized activities & evening entertainment mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm

After noticing our room did not have a refrigerator we asked our agent to arrange for one for medical reason. She confirmed that there would be one for us. This did NOT HAPPEN and the front desk staff at the hotel did not not seem to care. There was no follow up by our travel agent to ensure our needs were met during our stay. Poor customer care!!!!! Travel with West Jet met our assisted boarding needs. There should be a posted policy on tipping these assistants or not. I have flown some airlines and been advised by they assisting person they can't take tips. Others allow tipping. Airlines should make the policy clear. Food was for the most part very good. Our favorites were NOT the Indian or Mexican buffets. Great Breakfasts with a wide selection. There was no pop/soda in cans available at the bars to take back to our rooms. Ice for rooms had to be obtained at a Bar. There should be ice machines in each building of rooms. Rooms were small but acceptable. Sheets should changed every other day in an all inclusive without having to pay extra. The hotel should have internet available for the whole property not just lobby area. This hotel is more semi inclusive then all inclusive in my opinion. I know 3 Star but could a 4 with some mall changes.

Beautiful beach. Wonderful staff. Good food. Good drinks. Not too much fruits though as you expect in exotic country. Hotel is old, I think built in 1970s, all is old and a bit run down. They are trying to keep it up but it requires complete renovation or just tear down and build something beautiful on this amazing beach. Old but clean. Walls are painted. Beds are comfortable. We did not have any problems with AC or warm water or anything else. They don’t clean rooms for the first 7 days unless you pay $10. We closed eyes for everything because the beach was just exceptional and resort not crazy expensive. Hotel itself is really 3 stars like reflected by the price. We would recommend especially for older adults who don’t care about luxury and entertainment but quiet and on a beautiful beach vacation.

The grounds, public areas and dining were fantastic but the rooms were not up to standard. The bathroom sliding door was missing a handle from the inside the bathroom. The closet doors were old and were not sliding properly, we complained and they were fixed. We were given an old safe lock that did not work and had to get a replacement. The staff was friendly and always willing to help.

The hotel grounds is wonderfully landscaped and the public areas is great, well equipped with drinks and the staff was super friendly. Always available to the needs of guests. One negative point is that the rooms could be upgraded to modern standards, pay more attention to small details such as bathroom fixtures and doors closing properly. The staff did respond promply and efficiently when necessary. Great hotel and great food!! Would repeat the trip.

This hotel was first looked at due to the price. We don't require 5 star polish and glitz so this place which has been given a white paint overhaul was quite acceptable. The beach is excellent and was good swimming. Was it raked every day? No butit was more natural because of it. Antigua is a friendly and safe place and hotel staff were very good. Food varied between excellent and good with lots of options but a buffet is not fine dining so don't expect it. The downside included an air conditioner that dripped water even though it was turned off and a bathroom door that often fell off its runners although it was easily remounted. The biggest downside to the resort is the very arbitrary room surcharge added to the bill at the hotel. Carol, our travel agent warned us that they charge $17 per night. Apparently this charge is taxed up to $22 us. Mostly really aggravating and not enough to ruin the holiday but.... Overall it was a nice experience and the scuba was much better than expected!

The price is good. Foods and drinks are plenty. The employees are polite and helpful. The beach is clean and has lots of shaded stands. The waves are calm like a lake. Pools are kept in excellent condition with bars nearby. Not too many activities. Tennis courts are there, but not a single player was seen. I wonder if they have tennis pros to give you some lessons. The mosquitoes are too friendly. You need bugs repellents. But you can’t buy there. Guards are everywhere. Safe place for tourists. I would visit this resort again if my health permits. ( I am over 87 already)

The grounds and rooms need work , but the beach was great . People are very friendly . Food was good but not a big variety at all . Overall had a good time and enjoyed our stay . Great way to Antigua on a budget !

Room was tiny. Given 1 bed for 2 people when couples got 2 beds. Pool was green and shut it down 2 days before we left to fix it. Food was good and staff were great. Beach is incredible. May go back after they finish the renovation

This hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. Considering it has not been open very long, it is continually improving so some patience is necessary. The potential is there and hopefully soon it will be the diamond it should be! Our room had a King bed ( not the Superior) with a super comfy mattress and good pillows. Water pressure was good, always hot water as well. The air conditioner wasn’t the best, however we didn’t find it too hot at night, The screen door on the balcony was broken and no one came to fix all week. It’s a basic 3 star, dated room with a coat of fresh paint. One issue was the fact that there wasn’t much sound proofing since our door was a shutter type and the bathroom had a screen window overlooking the hallway so everything was heard when people walked by the room. If noise bothers you, I’d suggest getting a Supreme room near the Palms restaurant where it was quieter due to solid doors. We didn’t pay for a cleaning but did request new towels a few times and had no issues. The food was good. The selection was smaller than usual but always something we liked. The Pizza Factory had great pizza and the beach grill had great wraps, burgers, jerk chicken, and fries. You don’t go hungry! There is no food after 10 pm so keep that in mind, One thing missing was good coffee like cappuccinos or lattes. The pools were not too popular. The large main pool had an algae issue it seemed since it was green, The smaller pool was clear. Not much evening entertainment… mostly piped in music, one night a duo playing/singing and another night was fun Karaoke. Drinks, cocktails were good, wine was ok. Grounds are still rough, and lots of cracks in sidewalks needing repair. Always watch where you’re walking esp at night since it’s dimly lit. Staff are nice, trying very hard! It seems like it’s still a learning curve for some but they always did their best to be kind and helpful. The beach is the jewel of this place! So if you keep in mind that you are getting a 3 star room for a 3 star price on one of the best beaches on the island, all is well! We kept an open mind, we appreciated what we received and fully understood that this resort has growing pains but will one day be as amazing as the others.

NO WATER in the refrigerator! Meals were tasty. SUNWING Rep was not TRAINED to book out return seats! All he kept repeating is the flight is FULL. I enquired:"Do we have a seat?" His answer was you will have to check AT THE AIRPORT by arriving EARLIER!!!! We did not have a cellphone to book with!!!!! We booked with Susan at TRIP CENTRAL. Some seats were DOUBLE BOOKED!!! WHY????? Two Sunwing Captains got prefered seats was a CLIENT OR TWO BUMPED ? The hotel was OK. Empty fridges with NO water!!! Not acceptable. It would have been nice to have a little more choice in the a la carte restaurant. THE LARGE GREEN POOL was UNSAFE TO USE!! The OCEAN and the BEACH were beautiful. Paying for certain beach chairs was confusing.

this resort is dated but was expected, the quiet pool was nicely refurbished, the main pool still needed a paint job which i expect will come in due time. The pool bar was good and the lobby bar was also good ,food was alright .people here at this resort were very nice and trying very hard to accommodate ,breakfast was very good and the food at the pool snackbar was also good, beach was fantastic for three days then the sea weed showed up .a real shout out to Keith and the crew on the waldili catamaran they were fantastic!!!

Was a good resort for the money. Newly reopened and has some growing pains. But the rooms are clean and the dinning area was very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall my wife and I enjoyed our stay. Could not ask for a more beautiful beach.

Rooms: outdated, no air conditioning - the unit just generates noise but no air cooling at all, dirty towels, no screens at the balcony/patio doors; often no hot water . in general - the rooms and the hotel needs a very major renovations and upgrades. Lobby: it takes 2-3 hours to check in/out. the lobby admins are friendly but they do not do anything for you Food: very questionable. there are only 2 places to get breakfast/lunch or diner. no variety at all. you can either go to the buffet or the restoration (as they call it) with the same limited menu every day. Overall - not a nice place to be for vacation

The layout of the buildings to the beach is Amazing. I Love how you could either see while at any of the restaurants, or the pools, or the front lobby and for that matter looks like every room had a view (even partial) of the ocean. There appeared to be some abandoned buildings, and we heard they are in the process of getting them all up and running, but that didn't hinder the rest of the resort. The Pizza Factory food was very delicious, with great presentation. And if you didn't have a reservation for the Pizza Factory, there was always something yummy you could find to eat at the buffet as well. The proximity from all the bars to either the pool or beach is incredibly close. I/we truly loved our time at the Jolly Beach Resort and would go back for sure.

Old run down resort. Empty fridge not even a bottle of water. Room service $10 per day Absolutely no night entertainment just music playing in main lobby. Food was terrible and very limited No fruit or veggies at lunch so if you are a vegetarian there would be absolutely nothing to eat It was the worst place that we stayed in and we travel a lot. Positive side was the climate and the beautiful beach. The main pool was extremely dirty. I had a white float and after two hours in this pool the float had a dark dirty ring Plz don’t book this resort! we paid almost $2,000.00 per person. For that amount of $ this resort is not worth it. Very disappointed!!! There is also a $12 a day tax.

The hotel was clean but flexibility for eating wasn't really available. They need more staff and also modernized the hotel with north American electrical outlets. I think in 6 months to a year from now they would be probably in a better place. They had a consultant on site to see how things are going since November and hopefully they are working on a plan. They do not clean your room daily...unless you pay extra. You can ask for extra towels. The pool was in need of a deeper cleaning but the beach was wonderful. Lots more to be done before i would recommend someone to visit this resort....they need more time.

The hotel is working hard to rebuild we had some hiccups on arrival but soon got sorted out the updated rooms are nice but only about 1/3 of the hotel is operating the food has little choice but is really good for the most part the beach is amazing as always and the staff are really kind the owner has a rep on site and he is serious about customer satisfaction over all good for the price

Beach amazing!! Staff amazing!!! Nice new pool area. The hotel rooms are very tired, old fixtures, windows. Maid service for a fee. Meals ok. Bar ok closed early for us at 1030pm. Lobby and grounds are looking better by the end of our week but still in need of lot's of work.

I can only say thank-you again! The hospitality and smiles can only make you have a beautiful holiday! Our third year! We will be back! Although my luggage was lost for 4 days..people were amazing with their generosity from the resort! I enjoyed seeing the in land of cultures, lifestyle and scenery! Thank-you!

We had a superior king room with 2 balconies which we loved. Although the hotel is older, it is clean and has everything you need. The staff are amazing, very friendly and the beach is gorgeous. If you like long walks on the beach, Jolly Beach is perfect. We enjoyed the food at the a la cartes we visited (Mexican and Italian). We have no complaints.

Very old resort, not well maintained, beds were very uncomfortable and pipes in the bathroom as well as the shower leaked and we had to put towels down so we wouldn't fall on the tile floors. this is just a few of the issues with this resort. We had asked for second floor room, and ended up on the third floor and had to cart our luggage up and down 6 flights of stairs. Also had to pay for room safe key at $3u.s. per day and no wifi in rooms unless you paid $10us per day. I have sent a list of issues to my rep at trip central. Many guests were unhappy with this resort. The flight with Sunwing was good and we have no complaints about the airlines other than this resort should be taken off their list. The only thing going for this resort was the beautiful beach, and the staff except for the main lobby were great.

Love the beach, fabulous sand, beautiful water. Great grounds, easily walkable and not too spread out. Entertainment staff phenomenal from Judith singing the morning song to Super Dave and Crazy Sean aqua aerobics. So friendly. Cleaning staff keeps rooms very clean and tidy 😁

Yes it a 3 star hotel but you can't beat the beach and the food was good and the staff all 5 star ...best time my wife and myself had better then cuba and Dominican Republic will be back as soon as i can miss it already..mike and karen ..🎶🎵👍

My best friend and I stayed at Starfish Jolly Beach for our first time Feb 12-19, 2020. Rooms are a solid 3 star- dated and small but always clean. Our first standard room in Dominica building had 2 single beds but had newer mattresses and we're very comfy. Unfortunately hot water and water pressure were lacking causing us to finally get a room change on Saturday. We then moved to 3rd floor in the Antigua building... One king bed-old mattress, kind of hard on the back but had lots of hot water. We found it was best to not shower when the neighbour was showering as that's when hot water and pressure seemed to be lacking most. Corgen who I assume is a manager was fantastic to deal with regarding our room issues/changes. The rest of the resort staff were fantastic and the beach was incredible! Definitely a 5 star beach!! Lots of vendors on the beach selling excursions but a 'no thank you' was usually sufficient if you weren't interested. Food was good. Buffet didn't have a huge selection but food was good. The pool grill was really good everyday for lunch. That coleslaw!! We didn't go to all of the evening entertainment but did attend most. Entertainment staff did a wonderful job! Unfortunately we had rain half of our trip so we didn't get many days to fully enjoy the beach and water sports but would most definitely return to SJB!

The beach is incredible. The staff are amazing and fun. All very engaging. They are what makes the resort. Great location. Lots to do. The sunsets are unbelievable. If it does rain, the most magical rainbows.

This was a great trip. Although the resort itself is outdated and there is no wifi in the room, one couldn't ask for a better beach, entertainment, and atmosphere. Staff went above and beyond. Food was good. The food at the Grill was great.The age group is overall 50 plus for guests with some younger crowd. I am 40. I would come back for the beach alone.

The Hotel building is very old and run-down, which in my opinion needs to be closed down and rebuilt in the not too distant future. The water runs outside the bedroom doors in places and in the bathroom of my room, the toilet only flushed after approx. 2-4 times of pushing down the handle, which incidentally was located in the WALL. Subsequently, there was water on the floor of the bathroom every day. Towards the end of the week at 10:30pm, this toilet began flushing on its own, followed by a knock on the door which turned out to be two maintenance men (who were flushing the toilet from outside) coming to check a complaint about running outside and suggesting they come and fix the toilet. At 10:30pm when it wasn't working all week, I don't think so!!! We suggested they come back in the morning,which I don't believe happened. In the main area washroom one day, rain water was pouring from the ceiling into a pail. Other area's of the building including the main dining area also had many holes in the ceiling. I personally did not like the high volume of voices in the main dining area caused I suspect by the low ceiling, which made it virtually impossible to carry on a conversation during an entire meal. I also personally found the beach bar too loud during the afternoons. The food was pretty good; evening entertainment good; and I give 100% for staff service and pleasant manner.

Sun quest rep did not help at all,although upgraded room was paid for we did not receive,rep did not even help in any way. Rooms outdated,beach lovely,restaurant on beach fantastic. They need more servers at bars and bartender at bar at entertainment could be friendlier

No one goes out of their way at all,sunwing rep. Was no help at all,not enough staff,our rooms were not cleaned until 4 in the afternoon,one day not at all,showers were not working beds were day beds the beach was great ,charge for water in bottles and safe key ,this place is so wrong

Grounds are beautiful well kept. Pool was very nice and beach was amazing. The rooms need major work. Toilets leak, hot water handle in shower didn’t work, no water pressure, no hot water. Electrical plugs are in the wall sideways and no plugs fit in them even took two converters for electricity that wouldn’t fit. Bedspread have been so well used that the colour is faded. No drawers in the room to unpack your clothes. They nickel and dime you for everything. Pay for safe key, pay for a coffee maker in the room. Needed an extension cord and was told it would be $20 if not returned. The staff is amazing except for the front desk clerks who are miserable especially Yvonne. Food wasn’t bad mostly chicken and fish, but always had different salads

The Starfish Jolly Resort is somewhat tired as far as the rooms are concerned,however the beach is excellent,the staff was amazing,and the food was great. There was a great variety of drinks and the entertainment was 2nd to none. We really had a great time! As usual the vacation was too short. This Starfish Jolly Beach Resort and Spa in Antique is located on a beautiful beach, the staff warm, friendly and accommodating. Hotel and rooms are dated, but clean. Great selection of food and drinks. Sunwing Rep, Shana was very helpful with all our inquiries. Beach was great! Food was good as well. The resort itself is in need of updating but you get what you pay for. Staff friendliness was hit and miss. Nobody bothered us on the beach and our belongings stayed safe when we left our things on the beach.

We were at the Starfish Jolly Beach resort from January 4th to January 11th. The resort is a little dated but the beach makes up for that. The beach is truly breathtaking! We stayed in a Superior room queen and found it wasn’t worth the upgrade. It came with a fridge that wasn’t stocked so waste of money, 2 queen beds (only used 1) so not worth it for a couple. The room was a good size but again for us not worth the upgrade. The buffet food was above average but not much variety. The BBQ on the beach was great! The beach is what you pay for and worth the money. 1.5 miles of pure powdered white sand. The staff were great and were very helpful. If you want bottled water you have to pay for it, go off resort to purchase as it is quite expensive on the resort. Local buses run regularly just outside the resort to take you anywhere for cheap. I would return to the resort again but would not upgrade room for the 2 of us but if you have kids than it may be worth it for the size and extra bed. Great trip and Antigua is beautiful!

This was our second New Years spent at this resort and once again I had a great time. The.beach is one of the best. Most of the people that work at this resort are some of the nicest people anywhere. They go out of there way to help you have the best time possible. Every day I was able to find one of many umbrellas on this huge beach. The food is minimal so if your looking for a huge variety this is not the place for you. However what was made available was tasty and made with love. If there is one thing lacking, it is the rooms I understand it’s a 3 star hotel with 5 star service but I wish there was more room upgrades available at the time of booking that would include a guarantee of one of the few renovated rooms with the much needed basic amenities. It would be well worth any extra charge to make a perfect vacation.

The staff jokingly call it the Flintstone hotel ... referring to the way the rooms were built. This resort is 40 years old and some of the rooms have been updated but most of them are original. BUT it doesn't matter because you'll want to spend all your time enjoying the soft sand on the expansive beach and cooling off in the warm ocean or in one of the 2 pools. I can't say enough about the staff - they are warm and welcoming and happy to assist whenever and however possible. The buffet was not as expansive as I've had at other resorts on different islands but the quality of the food was excellent. The homemade local bread and desserts were sooooo yummy! The animation staff worked very hard and long hours to keep people entertained. Would highly recommend this resort.

If you wish to visit Antigua but are on a limited budget the Starfish Jolly Beach is a great way go. The resort itself is very dated and the rooms very small. However, the mile long beach is truly beautiful. The hotel staff, animation staff, and restaurant staff are all really friendly. We had a lovely vacation. If you don't care about the size of your room the Starfish is a great choice.

The beach is the best part of resort.Resort is dated but clean. Food was fine. Some of the servers were not very friendly other staff were great. Staff around the pool were very engaging trying to get vacationers involved but not pushy

This is my forth time at Jolly Beach. Although this is just a 3 star the staff are more like a 4.5 star staff. All are friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and the buildings are older but clean. Overall we love visiting Antigua and Barbuda

Resort is dated however very clean and grounds well maintained food was good variety was limited but still plentiful beach was the best my biggest complaint was with the huge price drop and felt I overpaid totalling 600.00 difference which is substantial

This hotel is in desperate need of upgrades, HOWEVER we didn’t go to stay in our tiny rooms all day. We made do and it was initially shocking how small the rooms were but it got better throughout the week. The beach is amazing and very long, the beach grill was delicious everyday. The buffet was a little repetitive but no one starved. And the food was good as well were the a la cartes. Our favourite was the Mexican. We didn’t get a chance to try Italian because they only have one restaurant open a night and you have to book the day before. You will not get a day of reservation because no matter one they’re “full”. I don’t suggest this hotel for a fun romantic getaway but for a girls trip this hotel was great.

I've been at this resort seven years ago Somehow previous memories washed away with time... Nowaday I'm a bit more experienced traveler and can say a bit more: Room a cozy, but definately enough for two. No storage cabords : open concept You have to pay $15 for safe key TV -old tube style No fridge No coffe machine ======= Food: I'm not picky about food;sometimes you can find very tasty treat , sometime average.Hard to satisfy everyone )) ====== Resort grounds been clean & maintain daily. === === Here's a few pickles: Only two showers located at pool areas and far away from beach After sea swim you can't even wash you face Also dificult to keep you feet clean if you deside get back to room, and this extra work for cleaning crew. At last - luck of public bathrooms; one near reception and thats all... Can't even imagine about water status at main pool Well, it's not a staff fault but compound design flaw

This resort was well maintained, all staff from entertainment crew, servers, bar tenders, maid, reception, etc were all happy and helpful. Rooms need updating, but the beach is stunning and where most time should be spent anyhow! Good mix of people from Europe, North America, etc. of all ages

Very friendly staff! Loved that we had a song every morning at breakfast. Grounds were kept clean and tidy, More air conditioned areas would be appreciated as everywhere is open. The bathrooms in the rooms are small and could use some updating. Pool bar could be updated with maybe a thatched roof and a nice seating area at the bar itself. Garbage was left in the middle of the small round tables in the pool bar area. Maybe this could be cleaned up more often. Birds seem to be a huge problem in the eating areas but not sure how that can be fixed. Would definitely come back to this resort! Loved the way the resort was laid out.

My husband and I just recently got back from the Starfish Jolly Beach resort in Antigua (July 2019) and our trip was great! If you're looking for 5 star luxury this isn't the place for you, but if you are interested in safe, clean, good food, great staff and service and a 10/10 beach then this resort is worth the price and you won't be disappointed. One piece of advice, do NOT book the supersaver room as it is tiny, pay the extra money for the standard room (king bed and suitable for 2 people). Also, be aware there is no food available once the buffet finishes at 10pm so bring some snacks for your room, as well as a Bubba or some kind of cup to fill up with water as they don't provide that in your room either. Literally no complaints on our end, well worth the money and had everything we needed!

This is truly a 3* resort in terms of accommodations but 5* in terms of the friendly staff and of course Jolly Beach itself. The rooms, while dated, functioned well. I stayed in the standard room and I had heard from other resort quests that the supersaver rooms were compact. The food was the usual standard but better than anything in Cuba...lol The coffee was horrible though. The beach was amazing and one of the best in the Caribbean. For a price, in American dollars, you can rent a seadoo, kayak etc. I took 2 excursions: Shirley heights and the Excellence catamaran tour around the Island. Both were great to experience.

The buildings are little worn but staff and food very good. Everything was close at hand. Will probably go back. Beach a little pebbly. The room was clean but compact. Overall a needed restful holiday.

My best friend and I have travelled extensively through out the Caribbean (St Marteen, Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Barbados, DR etc)… and we always end up back in Cuba....for the beach and the people. And the fact that you can go anywhere without fear of being harassed by hagglers, vendors or without fear of safety. We have stayed at 3*, 4*, 5* and adults only. So - we have been around! This time we decided on Antigua and booked at the Starfish Jolly Beach. Our first thought was … the infrastructure of the local roads are bad....bus driver is crazy...and when we arrived at our resort we thought..."on no"...saw our room and we honestly said to one another... "this is more of a 2 * in Cuba".... If you can get past the old rooms, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort and all it has to offer. After 2 days and getting over the initial shock of the dated and basic rooms - we forgot all about it. The resort is old...as are the rooms. You need to pay for the safe, theres no fridge or coffee makers. Beds are decent, our AC was loud, water pressure was ok, water heater was mostly luke warm. Resort is beautiful, 2 pools...directly on the white sand and turquoise water ocean. The pictures really does not do it justice. There are allot of vendors on the beach....but they are friendly and polite. The food is decent, buffet while repetitive is decent. A la cartes were decent. Mostly, its the people that will really strike you. Everyone was extremely friendly and genuine. The entertainment is really really good for a 3*…. Overall, a 3*...rooms a 2*….food 3*…..people/beach/entertainment 5* We will be back.

I travelled to Starfish Jolly Beach Resort April 26-May 3, 2019 with my best friend as a girl’s trip. We left the kids and the husbands at home, and looked forward to a nice time away. We have travelled together, and separately, many times in the past. We’ve been to Cuba, the DR, Mexico, the Bahamas, Vegas, and we’ve cruised together. We’ve always stayed at 4-5 star resorts, so we were hesitant to book a 3 star, but we wanted to see Antigua, and this resort was in our price range. We paid $1300 CAD for it, and I would advise anyone thinking of booking this resort to not pay any more than we did. Rooms-We were in the Dominica building, in a standard room, and our first reaction when we walked into our room was “oh my God”. And not in a good way. The reviews are accurate. The rooms are old. The doors have some kind of slats that can be opened from the outside (luckily we didn’t have an issue with anyone doing this), and the bathroom has an open window with a screen that leads to the walkway. The shower in the bathroom is tiny. The tv in the room is an old box tv. There are no dressers, just some shelves in the closet. The phone didn’t work very well-tons of static. We ended up with one king bed, which wasn’t a huge deal. Our room (3045) overlooked the buffet and the main bar/entertainment area. It was loud first thing in the morning, and it was loud until at least 11pm, but we were fine with it. We watched most of the shows in our pjs from the comfort of our balcony. Our AC worked super well, so well in fact, we were cold the first night before learning to turn it down at night. As the week went on, we grew to really love our old, quaint room that was kept clean thanks to Donna. Food-The food in the buffet was okay every day. It was quite repetitive, and not much variety. But it was decent. I had an omelette every morning and we ate a lot of rice, chicken, and veggies for lunch and dinner. We went to all 3 a la cartes. Lydia’s seafood restaurant was our favourite, and we went twice. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere both times. The Mexican was good. The Italian was quite disappointing as there was no Italian food. Very strange. We were expecting pizza, pasta, etc. But we ended up eating turkey, potatoes, rice and veggies. Neither of us got sick from the food, but we definitely used the bathroom 3-4 times daily. Maybe it was the water? The drinks? Maybe it was the food? Who knows. Beach-The beach was nice. It has a lot of crushed seashells towards the top of the beach, and then has nice, soft sand the closer to the water you go. Be careful as there is quite a dip in the sand when you first go into the water and we almost tripped many times. There was no seaweed which was awesome. There are some kind of fish in the water that like to eat off your feet, so the fish touch you often and we weren’t huge fans of that. It’s really beautiful to look out at the turquoise water and the blue sky. We walked the beach often, and it was awesome. If you want a palapa, you need to be out early and put a towel on a beach chair. The game is real. The beach chairs are old, plastic chairs, but serve the purpose. The turquoise water and the blue sky makes for a gorgeous view. We walked the beach often and it was lovely. Staff-We read many reviews stating they experienced the nicest and best staff ever, but that wasn’t our experience whatsoever. We found that 1/4 of the staff were nice and friendly, 1/4 were awkward and uncertain, like it was their first day on the job. The other half were rude and/or indifferent or uninterested. We walked away from the bars a few times because the bartenders were blatantly ignoring us while talking to their coworkers. One woman who works at the beach grill was nothing short of a miserable B towards every guest. We’ve never seen so many miserable workers in all the resorts we’ve been to. Are they overworked and tired? Is management awful? I have no idea. What I do know is that regardless of the reason, as the front end workers, they need to put a smile on their face and greet the guests. I must also mention that we smiled and said hello to every single server, bartender etc we interacted with. All they had to do was smile and say hello back. Unfortunately, for a lot of them, that was just too difficult a task. Grounds/gym/wifi-The grounds were ok. Definitely not kept up as well as the other 4-5 stars, but it’s what we expected. The gym was good. Older, but we had everything we needed. The wifi was spotty. We didn’t pay for it, and were able to connect in most common areas, but it would kick us off and it would take time to reconnect. We were able to keep in contact with our families back home, so we can’t complain too much about it. Drinks-We didn’t drink a ton, but the drinks we had weren’t weak. If anything, they were made a bit strong for us, so we would ask them to use a small amount of booze. Misc-We got a foot massage from Alex-the man in white-on the beach, and he was amazing. $40USD for half an hour and he was spot on with telling us what “issues” we had. He was probably the nicest person we spoke to all week. He and Bernice, the masseuse next to Lydia’s, were by far the kindest people we met. We took the bus to St.John’s for the afternoon, and it worked out really well. Bus number 20 picked us up outside the hotel, and dropped us off at the supermarket on our way back. The best part was the $3USD price tag for 2 people each way. I’m glad we didn’t take the shuttle or a taxi. The buses are like small shuttle buses, so they were quite comfortable. The hotel doesn’t offer bottles of water, so we bought a few at the supermarket down the road. We would refill them at the bar or in the restaurants where the water was filtered. Also to be noted, there are seagulls everywhere. Many, many seagulls. We weren’t expecting that at all, and while it isn’t the hotel’s fault, I must say that they were quite annoying. Apparently the birds are there during mating season, from April-November, I believe. They are loud, obnoxious, and aggressive. They will take the food right off your plate with you sitting there if you aren’t careful. I’m not sure if the hotel could put some fake owls around to keep the birds away? I don’t even know if that would work, but it may. There are also a lot of pigeons, and some kind of small black bird. We saw a lot of people feeding those birds, which would attract the attention of the seagulls and then you would get swarmed. Please don’t feed the birds!! There are also cats that wander around the property. We saw people feeding them which made the cats keep coming back. Going into it knowing it was a 3 star, I can deal with the rooms, the food, the grounds... my biggest issue was the rudeness of the staff. It actually makes me wonder if that’s just the general attitude in Antigua. And if that’s the case, I don’t even think I will return to the country, let alone the resort.

Plage merveilleuse, l'hotel tant qu'a lui manque toujours d'amour. Un rafraichissement lui donnerait une valeur ajoute, Après 3 visites en 7 ans il serait bon que le management pense à rafraichir cette endroit de Rêve.d Les piscines auraient besoin d'un bon nettoyage journalier...... un peu beaucoup .

My best friend and I visited this resort for one week from April 26 to May 3, 2019. The hotel grew on us after a few days, however having been to numerous resorts in the Caribbean over the past 20 years, this one ranks one of the lowest. Overall, the resort is clean and functional. The food at the main buffet was good. We are not picky eaters so we found something we liked every night. We went to the Italian Restaurant one night and would not recommend it. Lydia's Seafood Grill was by far the best - try to reserve there as often as possible. Many of the staff at the hotel seem annoyed all the time. The service was just "okay", from the reception, bar and restaurant staff... they mostly all seemed unhappy. At this time of year, there are many birds at the resort. Apparently it's matting season. They are a nuissance. Always trying to eat your food and really noisy. The beach and scenery are absolutely stunning. Although fantastic, it didn't make up for what the resort lacked in other areas. It is truly a 3 star and if you can lower your expectations, you may enjoy this resort, however, I will not be returning. I'd rather pay an extra $300 and go somewhere more modern that offers a nicer experience for their guests.

We stayed for a 7 night vacation, we found the staff so friendly and very accommodating. The staff at breakfast had sung morning song to all, everyday which put a smile on your face, lunch was usually at the pool bar, and supper was at the buffet which had so many different dishes for any picky eater to chose from, we had the fish every night it was so good.Now the beach area was amazing we could walk so far and there was so much of the baby blue water to see for ever, also on the beach were little huts with the local ladies selling clothes prices were really good, and they always had a smile and never begged or bothered you.i loved the look of the resort so white and blue, it’s not a 5 star but it has everything going for it, most enjoyable stay with all of new friends we meet and staff and we want to say a big Thanks to Shawna our rep from Sunwing she was amazing.Allen & Kelly

Excellent location and amazing beach. It stops there. I have been to this resort several times and have kept going back as everything about it had been great. This trip, we discovered the resort had been sold, and no one really knows who manages it. Most things are left in disrepair, the food is now just palatable, and front desk staff are not empowered to assist with any kinds of issues that may arise. It's a real shame as Jolly Beach had become our 'go to' sun destination. We will not be returning.

The beach is outstanding. Food is simple. Food choice is limited. Coffee is awful. Actually, the worst coffee ever experienced. Staff is friendly, but not properly trained. Sunwing stuff is excessively talkative. Rooms are clean. Transfers from and to airport are well-organized.

This resort is exactly what we expected and more. Yes the rooms and resort is outdated and needs to be renovated but we knew that going here. Like they said 3 Star resort with 5 Star service. The beach is amazing and beautiful and so are the people. We really enjoyed our stay at Jolly Beach and will be returning very soon.

This hotel is great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the air conditioning was not cold enough, it was preset at 16c and you couldn't lower it. Rooms are basic but clean. No complaints with the food, or drinks. Beach is amazing. Would definitely return to this resort.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Starfish jolly beach. The hotel for sure was a 3.5 star at best ..our room was falling apart but we didn't bother complaining about it as I believe the rooms were all in this state (old but mostly functioning fan/AC,s etc). We had a nice beach view from our balcony which was lovely. The staff at the resort were extremely friendly and the food was delicious!! We only ate at the buffet and were always satisfied. The entertainment wasn't that great and we ended up always going back to our room early. Would go back to Antigua and Jolly harbour Beach but likely would stay at a private villa or a different resort. Thanks for the stay! Note: we didn't do any excursions but we took the local bus down to the city which was nice (the bus looks like a minivan sized shuttle not a typical bus which would have been helpful to know beforehand). They take ECD not USD but we were able to get ECD from the lobby

My 3 adult Son's and I stayed at the Jolly Beach Resort and Spa for 1 week from March 30th to April 6th., our first impressions of the resort were favourable, the lobby area and grounds were extremely clean and with the background of the lovely pool area and gorgeous turquoise water of the Caribbean sea, plus the mountainous backdrop was absolutely awe inspiring. The rooms were very basic but kept spotlessly clean by our housekeeper (Wendy) anything we wanted or needed for our room was provided, and with a smile. I had emailed the resort in advance and requested that our rooms be close together, ( we got adjoining rooms) since standard rooms do not have refrigerator, I requested at least 1 of the rooms have one (I did receive a fridge at a cost of $50. US per week), I also paid for internet in the room at a cost of $70. per week (it did not work in room, but did work fairly well on balcony). I was happy that all of my requests had been met, but found the extras to be a little pricey when figuring in conversion. We loved the food at the buffet and found it to be a good variety and delicious, we also went to the Mexican a la carte and had no trouble at all making reservations the day before, it was also wonderful. We were very happy with the entertainment and found it to be top notch. We thought the drinks at the bars were very good and the service was at a reasonable pace, we ate at the BBQ for lunch every day and it was also good quality food. We liked the closeness of the grocery store and it was lovely to wander over to the marina, one day we had our lunch at the marina (Melini's) the pizza was awesome. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family and would return if the price was right.

Went March 16 - 27th. Everything is as advertised. Resort was first built in 1979 and has aged. All however is super clean and everthing works. The grounds are very well maintained. Our room was a standard with a King, and while it was smaller than some newer resorts, nothing to complain about. You shouldn't be spending time in the room when there is such beauty outside Staff are super friendly and fun and were the best service group we have experienced. Nothing beats, being sung to each breakfast morning. It makes you feel good about life and people. Entertainment was also very good. Some great singers, musican's and performing artists entertained us each night. Lots of fund in the evening. Have been to Caribbean and several of the Islands over 30 times, and the Jolly Beach ranks amongst the best beaches bar none. Every night a glorious sunset as the resort faces straight on west. Being on the Caribbean Sea side, also, the water is calmer than the Atlantic Sea side Food was all very good. Perhaps not as many choices in some larger resort but still plenty of choices and the buffet changed up every night. Had some of the best fish we have ever tasted at Lydia's. The only 2 items of minor concern that people should be aware of: 1) Saving chairs under the beach canopies. We found for the 11 days we were there, you needed to be out well before 6:00 am in order to secure chairs by placing your towels and saving yourself a spot. We couldn't sleep one night, and awoke at 4 am and looked out to see there were already towels placed on chairs under several canopies.saving spots We did also one day overhear 2 couples say they paid (believe a local kid) to save chairs for them so they didnt have to get up so early. We did advise the resort in our comment card, and hope the resort addresses puts an end to this. 2) Reservation system for dinner. They need to improve upon the system of lining up for dinner reservations the day before to get into non buffet restaurants. People would line up 30 minutes before the start time of reservations in the sun, to get a reservation for Lydia's. For the Italian restaurant, One lady was 7th in line and did not get a reservation. They need to rethink how reservations can be made, so lining up doesn't have to happen and guests have the opportunity to go to at least some number of times, to one or more of the specialty restaurant's depending on the length of stay. These 2 issues did not distract from us having a wonderful time.
