Our vacation at Melia Cayó Coco was absolutely amazing. The grounds are beautiful. The resort common areas, restaurants, pool area, bathrooms and bar areas are extremely clean. Rooms are cleaned daily. The staff are very friendly. The ocean is incredible. The food was delicious. Food is available 24 hours a day. There is nightly entertainment. During the day there is dance lessons, games, Spanish lessons, billiard tables, tennis courts. There are plenty of loungers both at the pool and on the beach. There is a little library. You can be as leisure or as active as you choose. I can’t wait to return!

Loved the smaller size, not a lot of walking to get to places. Adult only. Wide, long beach, white sand. Great for walks. Oceanview room. Great local entertainment. No shortages of food or drink. Great red wine and food A la cart restaurants. The best customer sercive!

Overall quite satisfied. The rooms were large and well maintained. No power , air conditioning or hot water issues. The food in the buffet was varied, plentiful and tasty. Assortment of salad and fruit available, as well chicken, beef , pork, and sometimes lamb, shrimp or calamari. Keeping in mind that you are not going to see steak and lobster at this price point. The a la cartes were good as well. The drinks were good. Good entertainment and excellent friendly service . Some minor shortages ( ran out of baileys after third day and limited choices late night in their 24 hour snack bar) , but really did not affect the quality of the stay. Fantastic beach, but the water a bit cold for my taste in January. I have paid way way more for a lesser experience in other places .

Could use a few improvements,, but overall one of the best resorts we have visited in Cuba over the last 40 years. The food was varied and plentiful. Entertainment was pretty good, definitely not a loud party place, which is what we were looking for on this trip.

People were lovely, very happy and accommodating. Food was ok. Pretty cold most of the time sadly. Lots of food was absent like salad, veggies and eggs but we made due. Smoking was allowed beside the buffet entrance, absolutely ridiculous. Should be removed immediately. Pool was cold so we could not swim. Entertainment staff were wonderful, ones who do activities.

Hotel was well laid out, food was good, buffet had lots of food, no running out,big variety of alcohol.Entertainment was fantastic. All facilities were clean and working well. People were very friendly.

I did a female solo trip for the Christmas holidays. This is a lovely resort. I always felt safe. Clean, great staff, gorgeous beach you can walk for a long stretch. There was no shortage of food. Christmas special meals were lovely and everyone received a flower. Best of all was the peaceful relaxing feel you get while there. Many people I met had come for several years and the staff treat them like family. I would return any time.

Staff are all amazing people, very friendly and kind, well organized, they make your stay comfortable and safe. We have been to this resort 13 times now, and plan to go back again this March. Food is good, large selection of food every day. Gardeners do an amazing job throughout the resort. Activities on the beach good. Bathrooms are kept clean at all times. My score is a 10 out of 10 for this resort.

Resort is smaller and quiet, not a a lot of activities, crowd is a bit older. Food was good for Cuba, staff friendly. Beach is very nice water was warm, one pool very large, tiles in the pool were a bit slippery. Not much for nighttime entertainment, nothing after 11pm

This was our third visit to Melia Cayo Coco. We have been to other resorts in Varadero since our last visit here and still find this to be the best resort. The beach is wide, powdery and kept in great condition by the staff. The animation staff are lots of fun and make an effort to get to know the guests. The vibe is relaxed and the resort is not too big (250 rooms) so it never feels over crowded. In the evenings there is musical entertainment every night in the lobby followed by an evening show. The bars are good and well stocked. The food is very good by Cuban standards (meaning they have supply issues beyond their control. They do a great job with what is available). We really enjoyed the International and Cuban a la carte restaurants.

To be honest I fall in love with this hotel. Its a small hotel well taken care of. The food was excellent for Cuban standard. I liked all of the dinning restaurants and the entertainment in the main lobby.The beach is fantastic and I always found a empty lounge chair.Will definitely come back.Also I travel solo.

12 great days with no rain until we were boarding the aircraft made this an even better trip. Having been a regular here for a few years we now are running into other couples who come here regularly because of the people who work here, well kept grounds and the resort as a whole. Hats off to Marco at the 24 hour this trip as he is very polite, quick and pays attention to detail. He is a great addition to the resort and will surely go places. Also glad to see everyone recovering from those nasty Cuban mosquito illnesses.

From the time you check in to the time you check out, this is a very friendly, accommodating resort. The staff is awesome, and remember you from the previous year. The grounds are very user friendly, well kept and being a small resort, everything is easy to find and get around. Looking forward to another return visit, in the future.

Second time this year to this resort. Arrived at noon and was told a room was ready, but if we wanted to wait for this other particular room we could wait. We chose to wait, but appreciated the option to get a room upon arrival. Weather was fantastic. Service was excellent. The vegetable options were lacking this week, which is not normal. I didn't see carrot/onion the entire week, and cabbage and peppers only twice. It's not like they're hiding it in the back, it's just not available. This did not change our positive view of this hotel or this beautiful country. The food that was available was excellent, and thankful for the variety and the other options made available. The rooms at this resort are basic, but super smart layout and A/C worked well and hot water always available anytime of day. Public washrooms are incredibly clean and always stocked. We will definitely return!

Just got back and from the start to the end, this resort speaks all about friendliness, relaxation, beautiful beach, quiet, wonderful food, a true gem. Was so impressed with how well maintained the grounds, landscaping, pool, buffet, beach all well maintained. Adult only resort much older crowd 50s to 70s, no loud music, or loud animation. However, on the beach shore, there were some floating plastic garbage, very important that tourists respect the beach and water, and not to polute. Ala carts and buffet all lots of great options, good tasting food, no shortages, white and red wines were great, Beer, coke snd bottled water, Rooms clean Other negative are mosquitos Less mosquitos in varadero but you need good insect spray otherwise lots of bites, bring calomine lotion. Overall, 8 out of 10 will consider going again

Melia Cayo Coco is a beautiful resort. The grounds are well-kept, the beach is free of seaweed and the rooms are cleaned daily. There are several bars and restaurants. There are plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful.

A wide, beautiful, white sand beach. The Cuban restaurant is outstanding. Both the food and the restaurant location and structure itself is unique. Plenty of bars for cold drinks within a a few steps, regardless whether you’re at the beach at the pool, listen to music or near the lobby. There were many many people that were repeat visitors 20 times or more and even met a couple on the 27th visit. We will absolutely return

Staff at Melia Cayo Coco was very friendly and attentive. They always tried their best to accommodate everyone. There was a good food selection in the buffet restaurant, albeit the food was the same every day. A la carte restaurant food was nicely prepared with lovely presentation. We were looking forward to having a lobster, just as in the past, but unfortunately this option was not available. We were quite disappointed as this was one of the reasons why we returned to Melia this time of the year. The resort was spotless, cleaned on regular basis. We had a lovely room which provided enough comfort but the original workmanship and subsequent repairs just didn't cut it. We have also dealt with a running toilet which we had to tend to every time we flushed but once we figured out the trick, we just dealt with it. We were delighted that we didn't have to rush in the mornings to secure our spots either on the beach or by the pool as the resort provided sufficient number of lounge chairs and palapas. We rather enjoyed the entertainment which seemed to be going throughout the day. Too bad Michael Jackson was sick, lol, we were rather looking forward to the show! However, we were not too keen on the fashion show as their crew was quite pushy for us to get our raffle tickets. It got to a point where we had to leave. Overall, we would recommend the resort and are looking forward to returning there.

This was our fourth trip to the Melia Cayo Coco and we have never been disappointed. The resort is always clean and in good repair. The staff are great, always smiling and happy to see you. The food is plentiful at the buffet and the meals at the al a carts were awesome!! The beach is beyond amazing!!

We spent a great week at the CMC from November 8 to 19. This was our fourth visit to this resort and, like the first three times, everything lived up to our expectations.We introduced this resort this week with friends that are experienced travelers to the Caribbean and they loved it as much as we did. The beach is beautiful, lots of shelter huts and chars. The pool is also very nice and very clean. The staff at Melia are excellent bar none, welcoming, smiling and very helpful. As returning guests they remember who you are and we have developed contacts over the years. Our maid for our room was awesome and went above and beyond. The site is really beautiful, the gardens are well maintained and the hotel is exemplary cleanliness. The buffet food is plentiful, tasty and quite varied. No issues with supply or power issues. the food at all the alacarts was fantastic. We are definitely going to return.

This was my third vacation here and I love it more and more every time I travel here. The resort is super Clean and laid out beautifully. Good variety of food at the buffet and 3 a la cartes to dine at as well. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and make you feel at home! The beach is to die for!!! Rooms are very spacious and well equipped with very comfortable beds and pillows. Stocked mini fridge with water, pop and beer daily. I will be returning again for my 4th visit in February!

Very quiet resort, older crowd. The entertainment is limited and apeals to more mature clients. Only choice of 2 restaurants. No Lobster or shrimps. The beach is great ans a lot of chairs available. The employees are very professional, Nice clean rooms.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for a week in July. It’s an older resort but is constantly undergoing upgrades. We had a second floor room with an updated shower. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The beach is beautiful with lots of huts. It’s much nicer than the beach at the Melia Costa Rey next door and way less crowded. The food was good, everyone know you don’t go to Cuba for the food but I’m sure it was much better than other resorts. The only thing that didn’t impress us was that the espresso and cappuccinos were not great. Usually you can count on a decent cappuccino in Cuba but not here. It tasted like they were reusing the grinds. Overall, we’d come back to this resort if the price was right.

This was my second time travelling to this beautiful place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the resort is so immaculately kept!! The food is very good! There are alot of different things to choose from. Lots of cold beer and various cocktails are available too! The service is excellent!! I feel very safe and comfortable when I am here and have already booked my 3rd trip for November.

We were many times in Cuba, and Cayo Coco particularly, but it was our first visit to this resort and certainly not the last! Our vacation was amazing! Every moments of this trip was perfect! The site is beautiful and the beach is stunning. All the staff was incredibly welcoming, smiling and helpful. The rooms are very clean, and had everything we needed; the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning silent and functional. The food at the buffet is delicious & plentiful. We had an amazing vacation at the Melia Cayo Coco. The beach is the most beautiful we have ever been to, the rooms are well kept and clean, the food is very good and flavourful especially for Cuba, lots of selection, our favourite was the Italian a la carte, it was delicious. The drinks were also very good, lots of selection. We did not notice any shortages. The resort in general is very well maintained with many improvements/renovations. The staff is what makes this resort so special, they are the most welcoming, hardworking, wonderful people always willing to help you with anything you need with a smile. This was our 3rd visit to this resort and are already planning and looking forward to returning! Highly recommend.

This time we stayed in one of the refurbished rooms and everything was just great. The grounds are kept in great shape also. We were happy to see the staff again and they treated us like family. One slight drawback from past visits was no coffee in the room due to supply problems, I would presume. They did have a kettle and tea bags so bring a jar of instant coffee if you wish a morning coffee before venturing out in the morning. A new addition was the Italian restaurant where the disco used to be above the lobby. A great addition. We managed to get in once and the food was super. Great job Adonys! Spent four days at Melia Cayo Coco an adults only resort . The grounds are very clean, rooms are spacious but outdated. No outlets with USB ports so make sure you bring all the cables you need to charge your devices. Bufet: same food every day, no variety. I am not a picky eater but I was not found of all the black flies present in the restaurant and on the food. But, you can find something to eat at any time. No fries, but this did not bother me at all. Service: wonderful Very friendly staff ! Beach and water amazing!!!! Drinks: ok, found some were very deluded ….but if you can find one from a brand new bottle being opened in front of you…you mighty be able to enjoy it. Entertainment: enjoyed beautiful performance from local artists in the lobby. Very, very talented people. No evening shows and most of the noise is around the pool which we are not interested in as we came for the beach end the ocean. Cigars: try to buy what you need from the hotel, airport prices -which were supposed to be duty free ….are actually more expensive Overall good trip, no complaints! .

Everything was clean and well kept. The common washrooms were clean and were well supplied, ie. toilet paper. The main dining room and a la cartes had plenty of tasty options and beer and wines. There were also additional wines in the onsite store. There was beach bar, well stocked and beach restaurant. This also had a great selection including ice cream. We never lost power or hot water. We are beach people and this was great , maybe a tad windy, that time of year I guess. Don't miss Tuesday night entertainment at the pool table bar on the lagoon. Staff were always providing games, dance and exercise on the beach. Our fridge was stocked with beer, pop, and water everyday. This was our third visit at this resort, it's a keeper!

Our 2nd time back to this resort, Will definitely be back next year for 2weeks. Amazing staff made us feel like family. Great food, especially at the new Italian restaurant. Loved the Churros wagon and beautiful beach and lovely pool area. Entertainment was amazing! Loved the saxophone, flutist and live bands playing Cuban music from morning to night.

Overall a nice resort for Cuba and not overcrowded due to its size. Most staff were good but some not as friendly as we have experienced in the past. Rooms were smaller but generally good for Cuba. The accommodations and service not as good as Royalton (Sandals) we stayed a few times but it may have changed from years ago.

Hotel is so welcoming! Spotlessly clean. The al a carte restaurants offer an incredible menu. Buffet has so many choices. Beach is beyond belief. Staff treat you like family. So many repeat guests each year.

It is a quiet resort which we love. The only complaint we really have is the bed mattress wasn’t very comfortable, it was to hard.

Resort is well run. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Beach is large and kept clean. No shortage of beach chairs. Food was good. Yanelis and Dayan at the pool snack bar are friendly and efficient. Omar, Joel and Yordy at the buffet are always smiling and greet you when you arrive. Entertainment staff Yaneisy, Lea and Horito kept us well entertained. Issues with the safe and shower were attended to promptly and efficiently.

Melia Cayo Coco is the best Adult only resort on Cayo Coco. There is nothing I could complain about. The hotel staff go out of their way to accommodate each guest. A problem with hot water in the room was attended to immediately and followed up with a phone call to make sure that we were satisfied.

Our 5 th visit to MCC did not disappoint! This resort is a gem. The grounds and buildings are meticulously maintained. Food was good, drinks plentiful! The Cuban people who work here make it the best place to vacation. The beach and ocean is gorgeous! As always we loved our stay and will be back!

This was my 6th trip to Melia Cayo Coco. The resort is well maintained, the grounds are lovely, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is the best. I was so pleased with the quality and variety of the food in all of the eating establishments. The beach is second to none and the weather was amazing.

Staff 6 stars. Beach 6 stars! Ocean 6 stars!. Bars 5 stars. Rooms 4 stars (I had a renovated one). Activities 3 stars. Entertainment 3 stars. Don't come here to party: couples 60 to 80 year olds. Restaurants are the problem; the main buffet food is sketchy and irregular. Great omelettes for breakfast but no bacon. Lunch and dinner: no decent beef, lamb inedible, pork variable. Best are chicken and fish but very ordinary. Cooked veggies are from frozen or canned and are often cold in the warming plates. But hey, this is Cuba: don't come here to eat.

I strongly encourage all people wanting to go to Cuba to stay in Melia Cayo Coco as it has everything you want & more. Beautiful beaches, very clean & friendly staff, lots to do, a very large buffet of everything you can imagine with a main lounge & large entertainment bar beside. Lots of meat, fish, yummy desserts, fresh vegetables & fruit. They’re à la cart, restaurants International, a beach restaurant & Cuban. Bar on the beach, many games to take part in & dance classes if you want a little exercise. Also there’s a fitness Centre beautiful large pool. We went on one of the excursions as well & it gave us a new appreciation of the Cuban people. I will go every time to this wonderful place.

Melia Cayo Coco, Cuban trip was simply amazing. My husband and I would certainly give it a 5++ - the grounds, rooms, lobby, washrooms and buffet was extremely clean. - all 3 meals were very good with a large variety each day. - now, the staff-- they went over and beyond their duties!! with genuine kindness and love. It was like they knew what we needed before we did. - we are seniors and we could not have ask for better entertainment. NO loud music around the pool or at any time. It was always live, soft music with live, top quality entertainment such as violin, guitar and saxaphone music. This was even at the pool in the afternoon. - the beach was clean and they had a bbq. every day at noon. Lots of chairs and not crowded. - this was the best vacation we had been on in years. Also, this resort is only 15 mins from airport! A big thank you to our TripCentral rep. - Robyn Murray. She was always available to answer our questions.

The resort is well kept. Grounds, clean staff work very hard all day long weather it cleaning, serving, always with a great smile. The hotel itself has a great ambiance , food nicely served even at the buffay . Plenty to eat.

It is an older resort but it is well maintained. In my opinion it's the perfect place to unplug and just relax. It's not an oversized resort so you get to know the staff and they get to know. We have been here 3 years in a row and every time we meet new people and make new friends. The staff even remember us and welcome us like family. Beautiful grounds, miles of gorgeous beach and a terrific staff what more can you ask for. Oh and a very short ride from the Airport to the hotel!

You CAN come to Cuba for the food - if you come here, especially at the a la cartes - very impressed with the menu, the food and especially the service. Cleaning was fastidious. The beach goes on forever and exceeded expectations. Remember that its Cayo Coco though, so the wind can come up and stay all week. Nothing they can do about that so its worth it to spend a little more to come to a resort where its peaceful and comfortable if you need to get off the beach to escape the wind - so many other resorts have constant deafening music and announcements blaring all the time. Not here. Front desk staff were VERY accommodating, friendly and professional. The tennis/pickle ball scene is alive and well, thanks to the very charming and talented Marcos - a real keeper. We were also surprised with how fluent so many staff were, in English! As for TripCentral, a big shout out to the personable and attentive Manuela.

Everything was kept spotless while we were there, the people including all the workers were excellent to my husband and I. The breakfast in the morning was the best as our table was always set and we went off to pick up what we liked for breakfast . After being seated we went off to pick up what we wanted for breakfast and the chef would make it for us , going back to or table which was set for us and we had our water in the morning , for lunch and supper we had the same courtesy but we could have wine as well , after being spoiled by our servers we went off to see the ocean . My husband and I have been to Cayo Coco and each time we got spoiled with our servers who made breakfast a great start to any day which continue for us daily a big thanks to all involved. Very clean in all big and small places. great stuff- helpful and friendly, very good food with plenty of choices. Beach and ocean are second to none. Convenient short travel time from airport to the resort. Even though the resort is old, rooms are pleasant to stay and enjoy your vacation in. AC ie working the way it should to allow nice breaks from the heat, when you need it, as well a pleasant sleep time

This was our 2nd visit to this resort and it won’t be our last. When we go back to Cuba, this is the only place we will stay. The beach is perfection, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is actually good, excellent for Cuba, and the people are the most welcoming, helpful and friendly. This is our second time being there. It is an amazing resort not too crazy, relaxing, no fighting for chairs. The restaurants are amazing. All their employees are great , Highly recommended going back next year.

We returned to the Melia Cayo Coco for second time and enjoyed it thoroughly. A small resort, only 250 rooms, adults only, and mostly Canadians. The staff were amazing and the food plentiful. A little windy this trip, so more time spent at the pool than the beach. They are undergoing renovations and can’t wait to see the end result. Hopefully, next April.

Property maintenance it meticulous. Clean, fresh and beautiful. The staff are exceptional and bend over backwards to ensure you are happy. That is everyone from waiters to managers to the gardeners. The beach at the Melia cannot be beat. One of the best beaches I the world in our opinion. Chevi and Jose in the El Mirador bar are the absolute best bartenders in Cuba. Never met 2 more fantastic guys. Thank you! We will be back again.

Melia Cayo Coco was an excellent choice, we were a bit worried about supplies in Cuba in the difficult economic times but the resort runs as unaffected. Beach is beautiful and clean, Food is excellent, rooms are clean and getting continuous updates, grounds are kept very well and people are awesome.

We were here from April 13-20, 2024. First time to Cuba. We arrived on an early flight from Moncton, and we weren't expected our room until check-in 4pm. We were very excited to get in our room a bit earlier than that. Also, so very happy to get our requested location (beautiful oceanview room 8521). Thanks, Gippsy! From the moment we arrived; to the time we left was amazing. All the staff, too many to list treated us like family. So many places to eat such as buffet, snack bar, and beach area. We didn't try any A La Cartes...next year we will (promise). We really enjoyed the pizza and fries at the snack bar. I think we had it like 3 or 4 times. hahaha. The resort checked all our boxes in terms of what you expect of a five * resort in Cuba. We will definitely be returning in April 2025. Maybe even for 2 weeks as we found we were just getting settled in by day 4. We did walk a short distance to the three-level market 1.7 kms I believe. It was a lovely walk. Picked up a few things. Every morning, we loved to talk to the gardeners and pool staff. Everyone works so hard to keep this resort in tiptop shape. We met so many new friends in these short 7 days. Some from UK, and some even closer to home like Dalhousie and Miramichi. Hopefully see them next year. My husband loved to play pool volleyball. I played once and got so burnt but so worth the experience. lol Thanks for a wonderful vacation. See you next year!!!!

My husband and I have not been to Cuba since COVID struck so decided to go for two weeks and we were not disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed this Resort. Considering the food shortages, etc. in Cuba we were fed really well and were grateful for that. The Staff go above and beyond to make sure we are very well looked after. They are a real asset to the Melia Family. The Resort was spotless as were our rooms. The rooms are a little tired, but clean. In our 14 days we only had two issues which was both with our room key/lock. A maintenance staff member arrived quite quickly on both issues and fixed us up! We spent every day on the beach which was absolutely breathtaking. Only had one morning of rain which didn't dampen our spirits one bit! The beach is clean with lots of garbage/ashtrays available. The smoking/non-smoking areas are a bonus. The entertainment... Wow! There was always something going on in the main lobby in the early evening and then at the Theatre. In the mornings you could hear the soft music of the Sax being played from the pool area. I found it very relaxing down on the beach. The "Rock" night band was our favorite. They had everyone up dancing and singing along. So much fun :-) I especially loved the size of the Resort. Easy to get around and easy to meet other guests. The Resort is very well lit at night and the gardeners truly do a beautiful job of keeping the grounds well kept and clean. We only had a few disappointments. One was the depth of the pool. Very shallow. However, I understand that this is one of their Capital Projects to redo the pool so not a biggy in our eyes. Besides, we are beach people. Another disappointment (which I have always had in Cuba), is other guests! 85% are great, but 15% can be so rude to the hardworking staff which really upsets me as they work so hard to please us. All in all, I would highly recommend this Resort and will be back! The Staff make this Resort so special and I would like to give a "shout out" to a few of them who made our vacation the best ever. Yusmelkys (Beach/Rancheon), Dayanalee (Bar/Server everywhere lol), Yoandra (Breakfast Buffet), Eddy and Joel (Supper Buffet). I can't thank them enough for spoiling this 'ol girl and her husband. Older clientele and couples made the vibe relaxing and quiet it was perfect! Nice and quiet by 11pm, but still excellent entertainment and a 24hr bar. Well trained staff, professional and friendly. Hotel is smaller with beautiful grounds and lobby. Room was clean, safe and functional. Beach is spectacular, plenty of chairs in the shade, if you show up later will still find a spot, just need to walk a little further. Pool area is very nice as well with a great atmosphere, pool was clean but will need to be renovated soon. Plenty of food options (only ate at buffet), no shortages that I was aware of. What management has accomplished given the challenges Cuba faces is amazing.

Me and my two friends thoroughly enjoyed our time at Melia Cayo Coco. We loved how small it was, meaning we never had to fight for beach or pool chairs (a huge plus at a resort). All of the servers (shout out Joel at the main buffet and Charles, the omelette guy!) were incredibly friendly, kind and appreciative of generous tips. The beach is absolutely spectacular; probably the most beautiful beach I've ever seen in my life aside from Cayo Santa Maria, also in Cuba. The rooms were slightly rundown, but that is to be expected at most resorts — they were perfectly fine, comfortable beds and the AC worked very well. We had some issues with water pressure and heat, but again, to be expected in Cuba. We loved the excursions... Highly recommend doing the one to Playa Pilar and renting a catamaran to go snorkelling only a few minutes right from the main beach of the resort (the catamaran is free, based off tips, and snorkelling is $20 each). The food was definitely the best I've ever had in Cuba... but this is not to say it was really good, it was good at times and passable most days, and we got very bored of it by a few days in. Having said that, there was always something to eat, but if you are vegetarian you will feel very limited by the choices. The 24/7 snack bar was our favourite spot... Simple pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, etc. We did really appreciate that the main buffet ALWAYS had fresh lettuce and fixings to make salads. It's important to understand that Cuba is in a food crisis and their own people do not have access to food, so it's a privilege to have what we do at the resort. We chose one night to go to the Mediterranean restaurant and my two friends got VERY bad food poisoning from the pasta or tempura, which they are still dealing with almost a week after getting back. The mosquitoes are only bad if you are near the lagoon/on the grass near the lagoon and at the airport at night, otherwise we didn't experience any mosquitoes really at our normal room or in the back area of our room. I would definitely recommend this resort, especially if you are middle aged or older — it's very quiet and quaint, no one really bugs you to buy drinks or play games and the night entertainment was great!

Let me open by saying I’m a straight shooter and i do not benefit in anyway in writing this review. First thanks to Robyn at trip central for recommending the Melia cayo coco. The resort was very nice and extremely clean, the rooms were average and spacious. The pool is again very nice with plenty of lounge chairs and a handful of cabanas, the beach was great and again well maintained. Now the restaurants and food, the breakfast , lunch and dinner buffets were fantastic with plenty of variety and good tasting food, no shortage of anything. Now keep in mind you are in Cuba and the food is not spicy nor do they traditionally use much seasoning when they cook so if you are a so called “foodie” don’t go, stay home and go to McDonald’s lol. The staff are the nicest you’ll ever meet anywhere and are eager to please even if you tip them or not. The entertainment is good at most but this is not Vegas and they are young kids doing their best. My wife and I have been to Aruba,Antigua, Dominica,and Jamaica and three of those vacations have been at Sandals resorts. So does it compare, absolutely not, but we did not expect it to. There were many repeat vacationers there, some over 60 times there so something must be good. On the plane we heard some of the other resorts had shortages but the were 2-3 star resorts. All in all a great place to vacation and more then worth your money spent, did I mention they were very friendly and extremely clean???

great staff especially customer service. good food great grounds 5 star beach will only return if they guarantee an upgaded room. with a shower not a 25 yearold rusty bath with a shower that works when it feels like it.

We were at the Melia Cayo Coco for our 4th stay from March 12 to March 19, 2024. We stayed in building 83 as it was close to the beach, the pool and the buffet. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived but that was ok. We came prepared and had packed our beach clothing and sandals in our carry-on bags. When we went back to the lobby counter around 3:00, our room was ready. The lobby staff will provide you with the Wi-Fi info. Each guest has access to 10 hours of FREE internet and if you use it all, you can go back to the lobby desk to have it reset. There was an employee readily available to grab our luggage and to drive us to our building via a golf cart. We had two heavy suitcases which he easily carried up to the top floor. Don’t forget to have some bills in your pocket to tip the transfer bus driver and the bellboy. FOOD: Everything was absolutely fantastic! We didn’t book any à la carte meals as we were very pleased with the selections in the buffet and we wanted to control what was being added to our food such as sugary sauces, seed oils and spices that we don’t eat. We typically sat in the first section at the entrance of the buffet as we felt it was cooler than sitting in the other areas. Yoandra, Hector, Lea and Miladis took great care of us for breakfast/lunch and Eddy, Joel and Omar spoiled us at dinnertime. We ordered Mimosas at breakfast along with plenty of coffee for my husband and hot water for my tea. Our wine glasses were continually filled up at lunch and dinner. We were never informed of any shortage of water, wine, beer or champagne. If you’re going to say yes to water or any other beverage, please be sure to drink it all. The same goes for whatever food you’re putting on your plate. Please don’t be wasteful. We went to the chef to the far right (meat station) to have our eggs cooked as Charles typically had a long line. Don’t forget to tip the chefs as they work hard and endure hot temperatures during their shifts. I missed having fresh shrimp but I can understand how expensive it can be for the fishermen to take their shrimp boats out. Lobster tail pieces were served on Thursday at the beach restaurant for their Cuban Day celebration. Be sure to check it out. There’s typically a long line up for the outdoor grill station on Thursday. EMPLOYEES: We were happy to see a lot of employees that we had recognized and interacted with from our previous stays. Some employees actually remembered us even though our last time there was 9 years ago. The gardeners were very pleasant to talk with especially Felipe. He hasn’t changed a bit. We often gave them treats from home on our way to the buffet for breakfast. There was always a fist bump or a hug in appreciation. Next time we’ll be bringing them some gardening gloves. BEACH: We missed this beach so much. There’s definitely not a shortage of soft white sand. The ocean was absolutely gorgeous. We had a few somewhat windy days (gusting around 25 to 30 kms) but we were still able to swim and float in the ocean. There’s a fresh water shower along the wooden walkway near the beach restaurant. Please be sure to rinse quickly and to shut the tap off when you’re done. We saw a man walk away with the water still running, uggh. Water is a precious resource in Cuba. Please respect this when you’re washing your hands and having your shower. There’s nothing wrong with temporarily shutting off the water when you’re washing your hair, washing your body and rinsing out your hair conditioner. Save the long hanky panky shower sessions for when you’re home. The water sports club is on the beach to the left between the MCC and The Sol. You can take out a kayak or a peddle boat for free and you’re entitled to a free 30-minute sail on a Hobie cat (skipper provided). Although this is free, please tip your Hobie cat skipper. You can book snorkeling at a cost of $25 Cdn per person which is a 2-hour excursion I believe. The towel exchange hut was open from 8am to 4pm and is located between the pool and the evening show area. We only exchanged our towels once as there’s really no need to exchange them every day which is such a waste of their resources (water, soap, transporting). We always travel with a set of our own colourful towels which we use to reserve our loungers in the morning. If someone steals our personal towels, so be it however if your hotel towel is stolen, you’re on the hook $$ for it. Don’t leave your towel or anything else on the lounger overnight as it’ll be taken. Bring some rope and clothespins to hang up your towels to dry. The classic rooms have open metal gates between each room so you can easily hang up a clothesline. There’s plenty of palapas for shade. There’s a long row of palapas for non-smoking (to the right of the beach bar walkway) and another long row for smoking (to the left of the beach bar walkway). The palapas are marked with non-smoking and smoking signs. If someone is smoking in the non-smoking section, mention it to the beach bartender. Dariel and Jesus took great care of us at the beach bar. We tipped them with kids clothing, shavers, deodorant and money. MONEY: It’s not necessary to convert your Cdn or US money to the Cuban peso (CUP) as they gladly accept Cdn and US bills at the resort, the markets and the airport. The bills must be in pristine condition, no tears or marks. We brought a lot of products with us to give as tips along with US cash. You can give them cash all you want however products are hard for the locals to purchase. Bring shavers, clothing, footwear, medical supplies, children’s and adults toothbrushes/paste, pantyhose, women’s sanitary products, sunblock, bug repellent and bite treatment, laundry pods, clothespins, laundry rope, work gloves, milk powder, AAA batteries, candles, lighters, etc. EXCURSIONS: We didn’t do any excursions however if we would have been there for 2 weeks, we would have ventured out to Pilar Beach via the local bus. It’s beautiful there! There was a guy walking the beach looking for people to book parachuting. We saw the parachuters once a day, pretty cool to see. MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT: there’s plenty of very talented musicians in the lobby and at the beach restaurant. It’s quite obvious that they love their musical culture. We purchased a CD (55 songs) from the ‘Son del Rio’ band. They often play at the beach restaurant and we heard that they were also playing in the lobby at times. There’s another great band that play at the beach restaurant. We don’t know the name of this band but the female (lead singer) has an amazing voice. ROOMS: the classic rooms that haven’t been refurbed are slightly showing their age but shouldn’t hold you back as you’re barely in your room. The sliding mirror doors are a bit of a pain as they’re so heavy and sometimes don’t slide easily. In our opinion, remove the sliding doors as they’re not needed. Our room was very quiet. We had to cover the LED display on the mini split with black electrical tape as it was extremely bright which interrupted our sleep for the first few nights. COULD IMPROVE ON: Water pressure – if we showered between 5pm and 6pm, the pressure seemed ok. If we showered after 6pm, the pressure was sketchy. There were times that my husband had to hold the converter button in in order for the water to flow out of the showerhead so I could rinse off shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Toilet paper – there were a few times after 5pm at the beach restaurant that there was no toilet paper in the ladies’ bathroom. After the 1st time this happened to me, I saved our barely used napkins and put them in my beach bag to be prepared. The ladies’ bathroom off the lobby often ran out of toilet paper once the staff had left for the night. AIRPORT ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE: OMG the arrival was extremely hot and painful as there were hundreds of people lined up to go through customs in an unconditioned section on the lower level of the airport with no clear layout of where the lines are to line up. Once we made it through customs and security, we waited a very long time for our luggage. There was only one washroom that was shared between men and women. From the time we got off the plane to getting on the bus, it took approx. 2 ½ hours. The departure wasn’t as long but we still had to stand in a long line up when the bus dropped us off. Melia Cayo Coco is just the right size for a relaxed, adult vacation. Seniors in majority. Beach excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and grounds. Entertainment professional. Food plentiful and basic.

This was our third time staying at Melia Cayo Coco and are looking forward to going back! The resort is beautiful and clean, the beach is amazing, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. They even helped to make my brother's birthday special by providing decorations and a delicious cake (no charge)! It was made even more special when the band played Happy Birthday and the staff also joined in the singing! I am a very fussy eater but I could always find something good to eat at the buffets...the other people in my group were very happy with the selection of food available. We attended a special 5 course dinner for returning guests to the resort and it was absolutely amazing! As we were early to bed people, we didn't see much of the shows but what little we saw was very entertaining and we enjoyed the lobby entertainment very much! Would highly recommend this resort!

This a beautiful resort with warm welcoming staff , clean rooms and fabulous food. Cannot wait to go back. The beach was nice and there are lots of sun shades and chairs. Everything is within walking distance.

The resort is just for adults so it is quiet and not crowded. It is easy to walk to the amazing white sand beach, the pool and all restaurants. The grounds are kept impeccably and the rooms are clean. There is not any shortage of food and you can always find something to enjoy. Ask Ronnie to take you out on one of the resort’s catamarans to see a beautiful coral reef and many tropical fish just off of our beach! We stayed 10 days this year and will be back!

Loved this resort. The size was a big plus because you were close to everything. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were happy. The food was great, no shortages at all. A little repetitive but that is Cuba. Beach was stunning and big. Lots of loungers so you didn't have to go early to get one. The entertainment in the lobby, live music and instruments was amazing, so talented! Added touch because theater is the same everywhere. The upgraded room was perfect, ocean view, close to the beach with a walk in shower with rain head, my husband could actually fit ? They also gave us a deal in which we didn't even ask for and a bottle of whiskey in the room. They really do go the extra mile and this resort is a little gem ?

Our second trip to the Melia Cayo Coco and they did not disappoint. Easy beach access, not over crowded and the greatest staff you could ask for. Great day trip on the catamaran to snorkel on the reef.

After numerous visits to Melia Cayo Coco, it has become a very special place in our lives. The service is outstanding, the Resort itself has exquisite grounds that are carefully maintained. You’ll find the cuisine to be excellent, the Chefs take special care, and pride in their art. Cocktails are plentiful, many surprises and new delectable treats to discover. The suites have lovely views, linens and are extremely well done. Entertainment is well rounded, from live jazz above the pool, evening music in the lounges as well as inspiring nightly performances, that appeal to all audiences. It’s a jewel!

This hotel is a gem! The beach is beautiful, the landscape is beautiful, the rooms and food are great! The bathrooms are clean, the bars are always full and plenty! It’s only 10 Minutes from the airport. The best thing about this hotel is the staff!!! Welcoming, friendly and genuine! They always go above and beyond for their guests!! ??

Our third trip at this resort in the last two years. Well run place. Staff are fantastic. Understanding the issues in Cuba this resort stands above many others. Beach fantastic. Pool bar staff are great. Food is decent and never an issue finding something to eat. Rooms more than nice. Grounds beautiful. We love this resort and have been 3 times in the last 2 years, and planning our 4th. The beach is absolutely the best! The grounds are well looked after, and the rooms kept clean. Depending on which block you are in, you may have some issues with the plumbing. This is the only down-side we experienced. The food was adequate and plentiful, as was the alcohol supply. However, the biggest think going for The Melia is the staff! All are courteous, attentive and smiley! Keep it up

This was our 8th stay at m e l i a Resort. It was fantastic as always, it was really nice to see some of the a lot of familiar faces. Food was great as always, Resort very very clean as usual, staff was fantastic. Special call out to Vivian and Chino AKA Pedro. Looking forward to returning soon.

Beautiful resort but I can never go back - I got eaten alive by mosquitoes and all kinds of flies. I’ll only go to Iberostar Selection Varadero going forward . Also. Adults drink and are super loud - couldn’t rest. Staff is second to none. Entertainment is weak except for the sax players . Thanks !

Hotel still spotless Only change since last year is food issues. Food variety has diminished. Staff say it's an issue all over Cuba It's a supply problem. Al a carte restaurants down from 3 to one. Delicious but less variety.

Had a wonderful time, food was pleasant not as they say about Cuba food. Staff was great we didn't get the staff to ask for money or our belongings like in other hotels that we have gone to. Beach was beautiful, and sandy.

Positive: have been several times so familiar with resort; staff very friendly; very close to the airport; is a small adult only resort; could always find lounge chairs by pool and beach; beach and water are absolutely beautiful. Negatives: getting very dated and tired; room towels greyish and worn; food was not good which I guess is understandable given food chain disruption: often no white wine or sparkling: limited tropical drinks; water pressure is very very poor for baths and toilet

This resort is small and easy to navigate. Rooms are close to ocean dining and pool. Rooms are old but adequate. Water supply is the biggest issue. Many people were complaining. Food was okay we did not go hungry, but you can see the shortages. Entertainment starts too late. The shows don't start until 930. We never made it to any. We have been here before it has its pluses but I don't know if we will return.

Great resort, clean, very comfortable, lovely staff, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, no complaints in this area. lovely quiet beach, plenty of chairs. Plenty of food, however, in the buffet area, if food is to be kept hot for serving, it is not.. vegetables are cold, . resort need to pay attention to making sure the food in the self serving holders are kept up to a much warmer temperature. squash or mashed potatoes are not good cold. ( just an example). If you have I-phone, connection is not easy for wifi .. sometimes you receive CTV news on TV in the evening or morning. . I had only for 2 days. however CNN is available, but as a Canadian, I prefer CTV news. Entertainment should be geared to the age group at the resort. as a senior, not interested in hard rock. this is Cuba, prefer to enjoy the Latino music.

Very well maintained and clean hotel . Rooms were dated but extremely clean and very comfortable. Shortages in hot water and morning and evening time were noticeable. Hotel Staff was extremely accommodating and was doing the best to resolve any issues. The grounds were very well maintained . The food was very good considering all the food shortages in Cuba which was just recovering after pandemic. Special Thursday lobster and roasted pig lunch at the beach restaurant was a great food experience. Daily activities and an evening entertainment were very enjoyable. Very relaxing clean resort with professional service .

Such a clean and welcoming resort! The people are amazing and will bend over backwards to make ones vacation great! Nice entertainment and the view of the ocean from the sandy beach WOW! This is the location you'll enjoy if you're looking to relax for sure. Met a lot of people that continue to return and love it! Would say more of a 50+ spot!

Rooms are a bit dated but very clean,the gardens are kept beautiful by the none stop gardeners. The beach is fantastic and great to walk on, all the staff are so friendly and attentive to all your needs,they go all out to make sure you enjoy your vacation. The bars are well stocked and have very well trained staff. Food is like all resorts, good variety, something for everyone but don’t be fussy, great service from the staff.

Beautiful resort ! Amazing beach and the friendliest staff ever! The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food was basic with noticeable missing items from certain food groups. But we made the best of it and did not go hungry at all & never missed a meal. The staff was very friendly and happy. Loved it!

Quiet, pleasant stay . The resort is very clean and the employees are incredibly gracious. Food is pretty good for Cuba, especially considering the shortages. Good selection of drinks with slight shortages near the end of the week but bar staff do their best to make it work. Bring mosquito repellent as it’s next to a lagoon.Overall would return if the price was reasonable.
