Hi Steve, Thank you for arranging such a wonderful vacation for me and my little family! We had a great time at Catalonia Mexico and truly appreciate all of your help in making the trip happen. As we discussed over the phone yesterday, while our overall stay was enjoyable, we did encounter a few issues that impacted our experience. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room that was in very poor condition and not what we were expecting. Since we were staying for an entire week, we decided it was worth upgrading to a more comfortable room, which cost us approximately $535 CAD—money we had originally set aside for an excursion. For your reference, the original room had several maintenance issues, including: * A toilet that made a loud squeaking noise. * Rusty bathroom faucets. * A broken in-room safe. * Overall, the room appeared quite worn and poorly maintained. Additionally, we found the buffet options to be quite average. The menu was repetitive throughout the week, and many of the main dishes consisted of pork, which our family does not eat. As a result, we ended up spending approximately USD $70–100 per day on meals outside the resort. I wanted to share this feedback with you, as I know you value your clients’ experiences. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could forward my comments to the appropriate team at the resort or your supplier so they are aware of the issues we encountered. We were greeted with the nicest staff at Yucatan hotel. We arrived early before check-in time but they allowed us to eat and use all that was available in the resort which was really nice. The food was great and many options. Rooms get cleaned every day which is a plus. The pools were perfect, but the beach.. the sargassum was worse this time around. They have activities for both kids and adults which kept us entertained. Overall, we would love to come back. We were treated well and taken good care of from the time we landed till when it was check out time.

The hotel food was extremely good, the rooms were extremely good as well. The cleanliness of the entire hotel was extremely good as they even washed down the sunbathing chairs nightly. The beach was small and very rocky with a lot of seaweed. It was close to the airport and a very safe place to walk around outside the hotel.

The hotel was very nice, clean and well kept...staff were wonderful and food was good...we flew air canada and our package said we had a mini bar which we did not, and we were supposed to have a hair dryer and we did not...first resort i have ever been too with no hairdryer...i wasnt a fan of the beach. The sargassum was bad but that was the time of year...without the sargassum the beach still wasnt great. One thing i did not like was the fact that the 2 resorts were together and you could use both...Mayan side got full use of everything but Yucatan side you were limited to what you could use on Mayan side. We chose Yucatan because it was smaller. I DO NOT like the use of the word Privileged...please use a different word if someone has upgraded...all in all the resort was ok and a great time was had

Small well kept resort. Staff very nice, Grounds properly kept. Beach is very small and rocky. Food at the buffet was good, pools were nice and clean. Bars served good drinks. Beach volleyball every day. Rooms are a little dated, beds comfortable. You spend most of your days outside, only in your room at night, they were clean and no insects in the rooms. We would go again.

The resort is small (compared to other Catalonia Resorts) but beautiful and everything is so close to the beach and pools. Rooms are dated but clean and maid service was great. Food was good however it would have been nice to have more options to ala Cartes, as buffet eating does get tiring. However, no complaints on food or drinks. Entertainment team is amazing. Guadalupe, server at restaurant was amazing and such a beautiful person. Make sure to go into Puerto Aventuras and walk the area and enjoy the restaurants and markets.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. Everything was excellent — the property was very clean, well-maintained, and beautifully organized. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful, which made our experience even more enjoyable. ? The activities were especially great — very fun, well planned, and offered something for everyone. We really loved that part of the trip and it made our stay more exciting. ? If there’s one area that could be improved, it would be the buffet. The food was good, but the options were quite repetitive and didn’t change much from day to day. A bit more variety would make the experience even better. Overall, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this resort. ?✨

Grounds are well maintained, rooms and resort Very clean. Beware of the buffets! The food isn't warm, so many in our group 5/11 became ill with vomiting, we tried to reheat, eat fresh but the food isn't warm cold and harbours bacteria. Beach is not ideal for walking, many stones and not much sand, swimming is in a lagoon, not the ocean. Walks to the marina were great. I would not recommend this resort.

Rooms were okay, we don't spend to much time in them. Buffet fkod was repetitive, never hot, just luke warm. If I rated this resort out of 5, the buffet would lower it to a 2. A La Cartes, even thu we sere booked for 2 weeks we were only able to book to restaurants. Meals in both were a nice break from warm/cold meals in the buffets. All but two staff that I met were exceptional

We went here on our first family vacation with my six-year-old and my 11 year-old and my husband. in terms of the room, they were kept clean and tidy daily but Definately dated it didn’t bother us at all. There was many swimming areas as the two hotels are attached. This ocean was super safe. There was a little lagoon with lots of fish and sea creatures to look at with snorkels and use kayaks and the other side of the ocean was blocked off so it’s super safe from any under toes. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the lunches at the buffet however, the dinners were just subpar. I do suggest trying to make reservations right away for the à la carte. I did that night and I could only get two in at the end of our trip the Mexican and the Italian. My husband says that the Mexican was a three out of 10 and had small portions but he is a bigger guy so for the kids and I I found it fine. Porto Ventura is just a walk away. It’s a cute little area with many restaurants. Dolphins manatees and shops. A short drive to Playa Del Carmen, which is always a great visit. But a very safe, clean and fun hotel resorts, especially with the family all in all. I would Rate it 8/10

Just spent two weeks there. Rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. There is great pool space and seemed like there were enough loungers at the pool and the water. The attention to food allergies was top notch. They ask at every meal if there are allergies and they took my gf around to show her what was available for her. They even cooked for her separately. It’s a short walk into town. The shows next door were great. They could use a lounge bar in the evening. We had a 5 al La carte max in two weeks. We had 3 to choose from. It is a chill resort. Livelier next door, which we had access to. Beach is rocky but there is a way in that is sandy. Good snorkeling in front of the resort.

I went with my grandson to this resort, it is nice enough, cosy enough and very comfortable. The staff of course, are great. We were disappointed with the beach though. It had a lot of limestone and rocks and stones so it made it unable to really swim. You could walk out to your waist and float on top. The amount of fish that you were able to see was wonderful.

Hotel definitely needs up grades. Patio door would not open without force and toilet broke. Shower was not working when we arrived. One positive thing is when we called service desk they had someone there within 10 min to repair things. Food was pretty much the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bars close to early. Only place to get drinks in the evening is in sports bar. Only 2 nights out of 7 had activities in the evening. Would of rather stayed next door.

I recently stayed at Catalonia Yucatán Beach during a solo vacation in Cancun, and overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience. The hotel itself has a charming, cozy vibe, and the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff were absolutely amazing—always friendly, helpful, and kind. As a solo traveler, I ended up meeting a lot of great people, which really added to the enjoyment of my trip. However, I did run into a few issues during my stay. The rooms, while decent, felt a bit dated. When I first checked in, there was a noticeable smell in the room, which was a bit off-putting. That said, the room service was excellent—they cleaned and set the room perfectly every day, which made a big difference. One of the bigger challenges was around the restaurant access. Catalonia Yucatán Beach shares facilities with Catalonia Riviera Maya, and it wasn’t always clear which restaurants we were allowed to go to. This led to some frustrating moments, especially since many of the friends I made were staying at the Riviera Maya side, and we often couldn’t dine together due to access restrictions. This lack of clarity and limitation definitely took away from the experience. Additionally, the Mexican restaurant on site wasn’t quite up to the mark in terms of food quality. Despite these issues, the people, atmosphere, and beautiful location made it a truly special trip. With a few improvements to the room quality and better communication around restaurant access, this hotel could be even better.

The grounds are well kept and very pretty. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom is large and has a clothes line in the bathtub to dry your swim suit on. No hair dryer but we didn't miss it. Pools are well maintained and are the perfect temperature to cool you off. The beach is a little rocky but there is a clear path on one side that takes you to crystal clear waters with a sandy bottom. Many people were snorkeling and enjoying the sea life. Buffet had great options at each meal.

To begin, having stayed in numerous all inclusive resorts, we have Never not been able to enjoy a Mamosa with our breakfast. The late bar opening time of 11:00am is unheard of in all of our experiences. That coupled with early closures as well, was somewhat disheartening to say the least. The Catalonia was advertised as a resort with white sandy Beach, which was a real draw for us, only to meet with unaccessible waters, due to immense amounts of seaweed, that was worked tirelessly to rid of, to no avail. Understandable, that this is an issue here, but it should not be promoted otherwise. It is stated that pool chairs cannot be reserved, but it was very difficult to get one, as they were always taken with towels on them very early in the morning. We usually ended up sitting with our feet in the pool. The food was the biggest disappointment of all. I actually, came down with what was suspected of food poison and lost a day and a half in my room. The buffet was redundant, and the two restaurants were an even bigger disappointment. It would have been nice to have access to an activity board as we found a lack of entertainment and music especially. All that said, we did appreciate the well manicured and beautifully kept grounds at this resort.

The whole vacation about the hotel was disappointing,only serving one type of beer,Modelo,and I don't drink draft beer,only at the swim up bar,,no pool liquor service,,had to get up and get your own drinks,,very poor service,,buffet was terrible,,same type of food every day,,hardly any variety,and ala carte,had to down load the app,,and couldn't get on the app( very disappointed) it seemed that we had to do everything ourselves,,get up at 6a.m.every morning to put a towel on a lounge chair,,there were no extra lounge chairs anywhere,, upon checking in for our buffet dinner,the lady directed us to sit at a table that had a used napkin,and that was it,no tableware,table wasn't clean,no napkins,very poorly presented,the lady said she would be right back,,we waited 10 minutes,then finally my wife got up and took all the silver ware and napkins from another table,,there was no personal service at all,at any time,,even when we looked online at your resort,,it looked beautiful,we found out that the pictures taken were when the resort was first built,,this to me is false advertising,misleading,,

We did not like the way air Canada representative. Talk to us. Key was out of line and was busy and he didn't represent air, Canada or any Canadians. He is an ignorant person. His name is Eric and I do have a picture which I would love to send to you with his badge ID he needs to retrieve. From doing this job, as he does not enjoy his work. The bars opened, we had to serve ourself. We were never asked for drinks. There was never any everything on the side where we are had to stay trying to book an all inclusive, you need to do to wake up at 8 o'clock and download an app was more work. When I pay for a holiday, I pay to get spoilt and not being able to actually have them. You have to stand in line and wait for them to open and have a cocktail. There was no pot in the fridge, only bottled water. The deck couldn't sit outside as it was as dirty as it was with leaves and no chairs. That was exciting to sit there. You consider this a 4.7, the pictures you see on their site. Is when the sight opened over 8 or 10 years ago? You need to make yourself current and visit the site via fly on the wall. I have told people who work there and they've only started. I've been there a day 2 days. I'm not sure where it is. There was only salt and pepper shakers on lebries, which was the book buffet the other one? None, you have to ask and fight for salt pepper shakers. The food 6 go all the way to Mexico to eat burgers. French fries fried chicken. It's crepes things that we get in Canada and well made. I was going for authentic something special. Very limited will never return. Say hello?

The resort was nice Needs more restaurants and aka carts 2 of us got really sick half way thru until we got home and our included transportation to airport never showed up to take us to airport,cost us 1500 pesos We will never return to this resort

The resort is aging but well maintained staff are friendly, however reception manages are not so helpful, they ignore your request to address a loyal client situation. Apparently the adjacent resort is no longer managed as previously. Reducing flexibility to share overall resort

Honestly.... we really did not like the resort at all. it was terrible!! I like the area it is located in.... but my husband NEVER had a hot shower... we NEVER got to actually use the app to book at any restaurants which meant i had the same buffet for the whole trip.... It was the worst resort I have been to.... and I am disappointed to say the least.... truly I was sooo disappointed I feel like i need a trip from that trip!! the travel agent who helped us was the only good thing about it all.

The room at the Catalonia Yucatan hotel could benefit from some renovations, as it showed signs of wear and tear, with paint peeling off the doors and chipped bathroom tiles. However, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach at the Catalonia Yucatan hotel was disappointing due to the abundance of seaweed, and in some areas, the beach bed was rocky. Thankfully, we packed our water shoes, which helped. We tried to use the beach at a neighboring property, where Catalonia Yucatan guests have access, but the staff informed us we could only use the beach, not the loungers. However, we found a nice, clean beach without seaweed at the Catalonia Maya Riviera hotel next door. Although this area is designated for privileged guests, we were able to use the loungers without any issues. However, the bar next to this area is exclusive to privileged guests, so we had to walk all the way to the other pool bar for drinks. The seaweed issue seems to be seasonal, occurring in April, May, and June. We were told that there is no seaweed during the November, December, and January season. I wish they would change the flight schedule for this trip. Our flight left Toronto at 6:15am, meaning we had to be at the airport by 3:00am or 4:00am at the latest. The return flight was also tiring, with our airport pick-up from the hotel at 5:00am, so we had to get up by 4:00am to get ready and pack. This early schedule meant we couldn’t have breakfast at the hotel, as the restaurant opens at 7:00am. Additionally, the bus ride to the airport was long since we were the first to board and it made multiple stops at other hotels before reaching Cancun airport. We had already been up since 4:00am. They should schedule these flights later to avoid such early wake-up times. What truly made this trip enjoyable was the Mexican people. They were helpful and cheerful, and genuinely wanted us to enjoy visiting their country.

First thing's first; This is not a 4 star hotel. No more than 2. The establishment requires some serious renovations. We had ants in our washroom, a decorative pillow had a stain. Other than that the AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. The food was good, but we weren't fans of the restaurant booking system. You have to go online at 8am to book. If you get on there at 9, you'll end up at the buffet that night. Staff are all amazing and kind. The beach was small and rocky, but the snorkeling was great with all the fish. All and all we had a good time, great weather but we wouldn't go back.

Our first time to Mexico. This resort was a great size and with its sister resort, the Riviera Maya, there were good choices for food, drinks and pools. The beach is a little small and a little rocky. There is a breakwater, so the waters are typically calm for swimming, and there is a reef to snorkel right off the resort beach. The resort is dated, but the rooms were comfortable and clean. The resort is close to some fun spots to do excursions, i.e. Xcaret and Rio Secreto.

Started with transportation from airport to resort. Have to wait 2 hours at a parking lot for the bus. For question How soon bus will come, answer was Very soon... Dinner reservation online didn't work

This was a grear experience. Resort was awesome. Grear food great options great service. Nice beach. People were awesome. A definite recommendation. Even access to shared facilities in sister resort next door

Great value for money ! I really appreciate the resort grounds ,food and service. Excellent food ! And the fresh fruits delicious - I couldn’t stop eating ?! All the service personal was great , too bad I remember just Esther name , server in El Mercado restaurant - hard worker , great customer skills ! And , yes I have to mention here , the quality of the shows - very entertaining ! Great shows! Gratia a todos ! Gratias Catalonia Yucatan !

This was our 7th stay at the Catalonia Yucatan Beach and it will be our last. We loved staying at this Resort. At the time we booked (August) all the ‘Specialty’ Restaurants were included. Just before our final payment (December 8, 2023) we noticed that the website for the Catalonia Yucatan Beach no longer included the Japanese, Steak House or B’loved restaurants. We contacted Trip Central about this and they in turn contacted Westjet Vacations. We were told not to worry we would be able to go to all of the restaurants. When we got to the Catalonia Yucatan we found out that NO, we did not have access to the Japanese, the Steak House or B’loved restaurants. When the guests of the sister hotel Catalonia Riviera had access to everywhere, we definitely felt like second class guests.

The grounds and the staff at this hotel were fabulous. They were all very friendly, and as helpful as they could be. However, the rooms in the Yucatán part of the hotel, are old and worn out. There was a damp, musty smell that never left the room. the bathroom definitely needed an overhaul.

Shows are good. Food is okay but rooms need some serious reno. Its all and it got mold in the room. We all ended up with pneumonia. They dont wash cups properly and especially at the bars. Service at The mexican restaurant is garbage. This resort is not 4.5 star. Its 3 at best.

Beach does not exist. Lots of see weed and on the other side its all rocks. Also ive been extremely sick. Something is in my lungs. Went to clinic one day after I came back. I noticed that they only rince plastic cups at the bar. Literally stay away unless you want to catch a disease.

If you have already booked this resort, I doubt you'll love it, but you'll be fine. We booked last minute for some much needed sunshine, and we certainly got it. There was sunshine, warm pool temperatures, nicely manicured grounds and comfortable beds. I'm surprise to read reviews that say the food is good and the beach is beautiful...neither of those is true in my opinion. The beach is VERY rocky, but we knew that going in. There was also a shortage of beach/pool chairs most days. I am not at all fussy, but the food was certainly not good, and and was quite repetitive. We ended up walking to the marina a few nights to have dinner out. Also the resort is about a 90 minute drive from the airport, if that makes a difference for some. I have been to many AI resorts throughout the years and I would say this one would be at the bottom of the list for me.

This resort was very very clean and the staff were Amazing.. The entertainment was very very good...The room with a balcony was good.. The only thing is there should be music at all pools and the beaxh.

Our room was beautiful, and the staff were exceptional - friendly, helpful and conscientious. The facilities were incredibly clean. The food was very good - fresh and flavourful! The al a carte restaurants were enjoyable and the food also excellent. A smaller resort than many in the area, which we appreciated.

The hotel is a smaller resort so everything was close by. Our room was great with a nice balcony overlooking the pool. The food was tasty with plenty of selections for everyone. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice and close to marina and little shops and restaurants for a perfect stroll. We will return! We had a lovely holiday!

I was pleasantly surprised , very clean , stuff was very friendly and fun , specially the entertainment stuff Emilio and Dalmy who were involved in yoga , aqua gym and shows Breakfast buffet was amazing and the location was great near a very cute town with restaurants and shops right by dolphin yacht club , very safe Really enjoyed the stay

Hi everyone, Just got back last night. Here is my review of the resort: We stayed for 7 days on the Yucatan side, no privilege upgrade, just the basic package. With this said, I think this hotel is excellent value for money. The room was older and outdated, but it had a new smart TV and it was very clean. I wish we had brought a Fire stick or Roku to stream shows, because all the channels were in Spanish and I couldn't find the English subtitles. Not the end of the world. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were a bit strange and lumpy. That being said, we found the room very comfortable and big points for the HVAC (air conditioner) being very fresh and working well. I am normally very sensitive to any kind of mold in air con units and this one was really clean. Our room was cleaned daily and water was always restocked. We mostly frequented the buffets (El Mercado, La Brisa) and booked the Mexican restaurant one night. The Mexican restaurant was great. I had a salad, which was incredible, and the chicken mole enchiladas (very good though a tad sweet). Overall, both my 7 year old and I really liked the food at the buffet. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, fresh salads, Mexican foods and spicy salsas. I put them on everything. Special shout out to the omelet lady, who has omelet-making down to a fine art! We also frequented the creperie (delicious) and the hotdog stand (usually hotdogs aren't my thing but the all-dressed was good!). The decor in the buffets and restaurants is updated and pretty chic! Temper your expectations around the beach. Its not a typical long stretch of white sand with turquoise water. The beach small and rocky in parts, so bring water shoes. Also bring your snorkel and mask because the water is very calm thanks to the berm separating it from the open water, and there are lots of fish to see! We didn't spend a ton of time at the beach because my son doesn't like the salt water. For having small kids, I think this beach is actually really ideal because there aren't huge waves or rips to worry about (plus the fish are cool). It was nearly impossible to get a beach chair due to people "reserving" them for the day then not bothering to use them for hours on end. Very frustrating and inconsiderate. This happened at the pool too. Guest services tried to address the issue with little success. We spent a lot of time at the main pool on the Yucatan side. We liked it because it was relatively quiet and there were 2 round shallow sections within the pool for kids to play in. It was nice being in a smaller resort because kids could meet and play together while parents chatted. It was so easy to run back to my room to use the washroom or to grab a forgotten item. There were a lot of umbrellas for shade as well (if you managed to snag a chair)! Wifi worked very well throughout the resort. The grounds of the hotel were beautifully landscaped, with palm trees, coconuts, flowering bushes and lots of animals (birds, iguanas, and "Mayan hamsters"). I also noticed that the staff made a good effort to keep the grounds very clean, including the pool. My favourite part of the day was getting up at 6:30, grabbing a coffee from the pool bar, and watching the sun rise over the ocean. Spectacular! The service at the resort was fantastic. From the bellhops who greeted us, to the easy check-in, to the maid service, bartenders and servers - everyone really went out of their way to give good service. I really appreciated how friendly and professional the staff were. I hope this is a sign that management is treating them well. I think that it's important to tip generously and would encourage others to do the same as the staff work very hard. We didn't check out the kids club but saw them on the beach doing activities, which looked nice. We didn't catch much of the entertainment, but we did go to the sports bar to play air hockey and pool (both were free). We watched the Moana show, which was AMAZING! My only comment is that some of the kids programming (including the Moana show), started at 9:30 pm which was way past our bedtime (and why we didn't see much of the entertainment). Another cool thing about this resort is that it's easy to leave and go walk around Puerto Aventuras. Its nice seeing people walking around and kids riding their bikes. It felt safe. The marina area is quite lovely, with some shops and waterfront restaurants. You can swim with dolphins and manatees, or just watch them from the promenade or restaurants while you eat. We also took a private tour and saw the Tulum ruins, swam in a cenote and swam with sea turtles in Akumal. This part of Mexico has so much to offer, so make sure you get out and explore! I think it would be easy to rent a car and tour yourself around if you're comfortable driving on highways. What else can I say? We had a wonderful vacation. This is not a luxury resort, but I'd say it's a solid 4 star, with loads of character, good vibes and great service to round it out. We were originally in the comfort room, which was hugely disappointing. The door lock didn’t work, it was outdated, and looked nothing like the photos. We had to upgrade because the room was unacceptable. The upgraded room was lovely.

The hotel was a smaller style resort, the design of which we loved because it felt truly authentic. The service was AMAZING and truly made our trip. The food was also exceptional. If you're looking for a truly relaxing vacation look no further.

Would not go back as I paid for all inclusive resort and the staff prevented me from many opportunities to enjoy the whole resort as it was off limits. Staff pretended to have my best interests however they took my money when they could, but if it was not in their best interest they refused me service.

Older hotel but beautiful beach and great service. The Italian buffet and a la cartes were great. Location was nice and close to the action in Cancun. Ferry to Isla Majures is close enough and a worthwhile experience.

Just back from a week at the Catalonia Yucatan and had a great time. The food was very good, especially the a la cartes - we went to the Steakhouse, the Mexican, the Japanese and the Italian. The buffets were also good. The beach was okay, although you can't go for a very long walk, and the many pools were excellent. Our room was great. We had a few issues - a toilet that wouldn't flush and water dripping out of a light fixture - but they were fixed very quickly. The best thing about the place was the staff. They were all friendly, helpful and hard-working.

This hotel was fabulous, great staff, clean, and so much to offer :) we love the pool entertainment crew especially Miguel. We especially loved how close the marina was with a lot of dining/drink options, many shops and best of all a free view of the dolphins, manatees and sea lions.

This was our 2nd time at the Catalonia Yucatan. 1st time we loved it, 2nd time not so much. The rooms are very tired and food was certainly not up to par. The resort caters to French. Which is an issue as we don't speak it. At night in the lounge/bar area they had French night parties and there is no other lounge to go to. I love the location as you can ride a bike down to the marina and have beer and food at one of the restaurants by the dolphin area. We watched the dolphin and sea lion show and didn't have to leave the resort.

We were disappointed with our second visit to Catalonia Yucatan. The location is awesome & most of the staff are so very friendly (including the wait staff, bartenders & cleaning crew, the party staff basically ignored us). This resort was recently sold to a French company and it is very clear that they cater to the French speaking guests. If you do not speak French, stay away. We travel south 2 - 3 times per year & were hoping to make this one of our "go to" places, due to this bad experience we will not return to this location.

Having read the reviews, my expectations were not high but this was a trip that we won so we set them aside. I am glad that we did. The resort's location within Puerto Aventura is great. We could walk, bicycle and visit outside the resort without feeling confined to one place. The marina and aquarium are impressive and the dolphins and sea lions (I think that's what they are) steal the show. The food was excellent and the staff extremely helpful and polite. Public washrooms were clean. Although our rooms were older, we had a great view of the ocean. If I was to return, I would enquire into a possible upgrade to the room as ours was basic (just water in the bar fridge, no kleenex, no room service) and a few other small things that escape me. There were lots of tiki huts and lots of chairs for everyone. The folks who are trying to sell you a non time-share package were somewhat aggressive, so unless you travel a lot to different places and different resorts, I would recommend staying away from them. Other than the above, we left Mexico relaxed, rested, well fed and well watered!

Catalonia Yucatan Beach Resort was lovely. The check in was quick and we were given a room upgrade as we were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Truthfully the room and bathroom was a bit tired although clean and comfortable. The grounds and pools were very beautiful and very clean. The beach did have a seaweed problem that the workers could not get ahead of but there was beach area by the lagoon which was free from seaweed and great for swimming. The lounges were all great, sports bar was fun with different activities, ping pong, air hockey, pool tables as well as many tv’s. The Buffets were very good food, great variety, good service too. The a la carte restaurants were completely amazing quality, service and ambience. We did not attend the disco or theatre so have no comment. Armando a drink server was absolutely amazing, he was super friendly and very attentive to our needs around the pool. This resort has a sister resort next door which we had full access to. We loved the resort, so easy to find your way around - very comfortable - not a massive area where a golf cart is needed to get around. It is a short walk to the Marina which has a marine show, restaurants and plenty of shops. We had an amazing 2 weeks and would return!

This was our second time staying at this resort,and it was just as good as the first time.The staff here are great,the food and drinks amazing. I like the fact that it is a smaller resort so you don't spend most of your time walking a mile to get somewhere. But it is not lacking in restaurants,bars,pools and activities.Our favorite place to eat was the steakhouse..t-bone steaks..need I say more. Looking forward to our next visit!!

The hotel was tired and needed some upgrades. For the price we paid, the food was average at the buffets and the service was average as well. the beach was terrible as it was a lagoon so not much to look at or walk on.

Start from the beginning.. check in was horrendous the staff was rude and they don’t give a care about customer service! This level of service would never be acceptable anywhere! They are so used to the complaints they don’t care! The first room had cracked tiles throughout , brown bath tub from wear, peeling paint and rock hard beds! Three star at best and that is being generous. We were told on three separate occasions to come back to the front desk we will have a better room for you. We waited and went back to the desk and first it wasn’t ready so we waited went back the next morning told to come back at noon we waited and went back and then we were told it was sold. We asked to speak with a manager about this horrible service and he wouldn’t come talk to us in person. We waited a day and a half, lots of lying and delays to get a half decent room. Positives: The service in the restaurants and bars were great, the room was clean, the food was good. The grounds are beautiful. Ideal location Cons: beach is very small, front desk horrible, pools small and cramped, not enough loungers, the rooms are very run down, segregated areas for privileged. Bad Management!! I wouldn’t return, three star room, four star resort prices! Too bad though it had potential and most of the staff was great!

It get's better every year, planning already to return next winter. Staff makes the stay remarkable, they go out of their way to make you feel more than welcome. Would recommend it to all or friends and family.

Amazing vacation, booked privileged and it was well worth it for our 7 day vacation! A lot of choice for dinners – five a la cartes / beach BBQ and access to the exclusive B Loved restaurant for breakfast and lunches. And a spectacular view from this restaurant. The food at all the specialty restaurants was great-especially the Mexican and the Japanese. No reservations are required – however be prepared to wait a bit to get a table unless you arrive right at 6:00 pm. The variety of food available is amazing, a crepe bar, a hot dog cart, taco cart, ice cream stand and snack bar, no one will not go hungry here. We only ate at the buffet for one dinner and two breakfasts. The staff was awesome – super friendly and very hard working in all areas of the resort - all speak English quite well. Entertainment and sports bars are at the front of the resort and do not disturb anyone wanting a bit more peace and quiet. There is a beach area for those who booked the Privileged package, complete with a beach bar. There are several pools to choose from, all very clean; again one reserved for the Privilege package The evening theatre productions were professionally well done; complete with spectacular costumes and production sets. Many free amentities; including free bicycles are available to check out the town. Take the short tour that is provided 3 times a week. There are bike lanes and paths, its a really pretty, safe, gated town. Biking is an easy way to check out the marina and shops/restaurants and dolphinariums or take the 10 minute walk from the hotel. For those who enjoy golf, there is a golf course and you can purchase a package that includes the golf cart, clubs, tees, three balls and as many rounds of golf as you want. Get there early before it gets too hot. The security is absolutely fabulous – one day I tucked my cellphone under my beach towel and was gone snorkelling for two hours. When I returned there was a guard standing about 5 feet from my lounger. I learned that while I was gone the wind came up, moved my towel enough to expose my cellphone. The guard stood watch until my return. Amazing ! ! Unfortunately, I did not have any money with me and was unable to find him on the resort, later. I spoke to another guest and she figured he had been there for at least an hour. Now that is service above and beyond ! ! ! There are a couple of good spots to snorkel right in front of the hotel and in the lagoon. Also, a great public beach for snorkelling by the Omni Hotel – we were shown it on the bike tour. While I really enjoy being with children, it would have been nice to keep the Privilege area restricted to adults – especially the pool and beach area.

We just returned from a last minute vacation that turned out to be our best ever! We stayed at the Catalonia Yucatan in the Mayan Riviera. It was the perfect size , not too big, and the staff were so lovely and helpful and courteous. There were so many things to do. We were taken sailing two times by Marco, an amazing guy! We kayaked in the lagoon. This place has great restaurants with no line ups. Food was really good. It is seaweed season but the resort did its very best to keep it away from a great swimming area. I highly recommend the Catalonia Yucatan. I also recommend Tripcentral for last minute deals !

Everything was good, enjoyed our food and hospitality,,,,the weather was good also , met some great friends,pools were nice , had a great time,we were there 5 yrs ago ,lots of changes ,they did a nice job : very clean and safe area , will go back again later in future,,,,,,!,,,,,,

This was our first experience at this resort and it was very memorable, it's kept very clean and the staff are amazing. The food was very delicious and the entertainment was outstanding. It has a beautiful beach that is protected but can be susceptible to see kelp. The main beach did become unusable toward the end of our trip due to the kelp but this seems to be a problem for all the resorts along this coast. I would like to see them change their policy with regards to liquor perhaps, when your at an all inclusive and paying good money to be there, all there brands of liquor on the shelves should be available to whom ever stays at this resort as an all inclusive.

This was our second visit here and we love it ...the staff are so amazing and hard working they truly do make your stay a wonderful one......and as always booking through tripcentral is easy quick and always a great chat on the phone with the ever so helpful Karol Chareza can't wait to book for next year thank you 😊

The grounds and facilities are perfect. The beach could be a bit larger, with more capacity, but we managed to find a place to enjoy the sun and surf every day. The food was great - the resort clearly made a big effort to provide a large variety, great presentation, lots of fresh items. Nothing was lacking.

This resort is a bit dated but what they may lack in high end finishes they make up for in service, food and entertainment. We had a small issue with the room and they took care of it immediately and moved us to a new room. When we came back from dinner we found a bottle of champagne and a fruit plate in our room. The food at the alacarte's was amazing. I do not have one bad thing to say about this resort. Had a wonderful time and are considering going back next year.

The resort is awesome, really enjoyed that it was located inside a gated community which allowed us free range to so many various activities without having to plan and excursion. Amazing food, great staff and the entertainment was impressive. Rooms are great quality, the only downside we experience was the maid service. We travelled with a group and their service seemed fine yet our room was only cleaned at times. We always left a tip so we knew it wasn’t because of that. I would recommend the hotel get a better crosscheck in place to ensure they haven’t missed any rooms. Can’t say that was a big downfall though, everything else was fantastic!!!

The rooms are a bit dated (especially the bathrooms) but they're very well kept and clean. My friend upgraded to a "Privileged" room and her bathroom was a lot nicer (renovated, large walk-in shower) although the room was similar to ours. We had a room overlooking the pool (had asked for a quiet area). It was quite noisy during the day but by 10-11pm, it was completely silent so we had peaceful nights. The food is solid at all the restos. For the a la carte, we tried the Spanish, Italian, Japanese and steakhouse. The Spanish wasn't good (better food at the buffets and I got food poisoning). The Italian is solid. The Japanese and steakhouse were fantastic. The water was great - not too deep and very calm with some rocky areas. The resort has plenty of activities to keep busy with - kayaking, snorkeling, biking etc. Also, it's within a gated a community so we felt very safe walking/biking outside the resort and into the little town area. Lastly, the staff is wonderful - very friendly and helpful. There were a few times where I dined by myself at the buffets and it took half the meal for anyone to even give me a glass of water, but will give the benefit of the doubt and thinking it might have been due to a shift change since otherwise the service was great.

As I said, "We'll be back!". Maybe next time we'll try Catalonia Maya. New Year Eve prices were slightly overpriced, but it's ok. I almost forgot: guys, you have to do something with the beach chairs/loungers: no one available after 8:00 A.M.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Catalonia Mayan Riviera. I had a fantastic oceanfront room with 3 balconies (incredible!) and I could not have been more comfortable. They kept my room stocked with bottled water and soft drinks, etc. so after a day outside, always came back to a clean and well-serviced room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating at all the restaurants, bars and spa locations. There was great variety at all the restaurants and good food as well. I took advantage of the spa treatments on several occasions and they were fantastic. Really wonderful amenities with the steam room, hydrotherapy, etc. to enjoy. I have high regards for the support I received from Jenn Black, Trip Central agent I worked with on this trip. Special thanks again Jenn for all your help!

This resort was very clean, food was great. We had fun with the suds party! We walked to the marina almost everyday. Lots to see! A great place to go if you just want to relax.the only thing we didn't like was having to get up by 6 to get a shaded lounges on the beach or around the pool.

The resort was beautiful. The beach was small, but it was lovely. The staff was helpful and friendly. Food was great. Pools were warm and the swim up bars were great. "Leo" was our favorite bar tender. Room was nice.

I have been to this resort twice a year since 2011 its wonderfull . the staff are terrific. the rooms are clean and comfortable . the grounds are immaculate . every year there are upgrades. the pools are kept clean and all servers are more than happy to serve you.

Everything in the resort was very convenient to get to, short walk to beach and all Restaurants. We upgraded to privilege and we're happy we did, nice room and the extras were nice to have. All the staff were very friendly, and the guys that worked so hard for 4 days to remove all the seaweed that washed up on beach should be thanked by all

My expectations were modest after reading reviews on this site and others, so I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of this resort. The rooms were nothing special but they were clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic and there was always something to eat. Buffet breakfasts and lunches were great and Italian, Spanish, Mexican and Japanese specialty restaurants all exceeded expectations. The staff was excellent and most would greet you with a smile, no matter what kind of day they were having. The grounds were clean and the pools were nice, albeit a little warm for my liking. I'm not one to complain but there were a couple of suggestions I'd like to offer hotel management. We arrived at the resort at 11 a.m. and couldn't get into our room until 3 p.m. This was a pain and should be an easy fix. Resort management knows which rooms will be empty so get them done first so new guests don't have to sit around for four hours after arrival. This sucked because we had to be at the Toronto airport at 3 a.m. and hadn't slept at all. The other disappointment came when I asked for a room change because I had requested a king bed and received two queens. The front desk told me to return Sunday (in two days), which I did, only to be told that I was supposed to return Saturday. This was not true. After a bit of back and forth, a king room miraculously became available and all was good. It was enough to tick me off for a few minutes but it was forgotten after a few shots of good tequila (ask for it). Another suggestion for management would be to make the party pool a little more lively. Activities stopped around 1 p.m. most days and the pool went quiet for a few hours. This prompted people with their annoying pill speakers to take over and force the rest of us to listen to country music. When in Mexico, the last thing I want to hear is some hillbilly singing about trucks and blue jeans. Overall, a great experience.

For my first trip to Mexico it was a very enjoyable experience, the resort was well maintained and the staff were great. The weather was awesome for the 7 days we stayed. Would I visit the resort again most definitely.

We will go back for sure. Speedy check in the rooms were clean and the grounds were beautiful felt very safe in this gated community we walked to the Marina a few times seen the sea lions, dolphins, Mantees for free watching the trainers work with them...The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and being at a small resort they had a lot going on they had live entertainment at night before the shows which was good...Really liked having WiFi everywhere. The E l carts were first come first serve which was great we loved the steak house the best...Went snorkeling everyday enjoyed that a lot...at the swim up bar in our area thought they should have more shade around the pool. Only thing though buying things there were expensive confusing trying to figure out the money exchange .. We went on a couple of tours they were both great Emotions native tour the side by side tour with zip lining and swam in a cenote.. and the other was EKBalam Cenote Maya which was amazing as well.a great experience..

This resort was very nice!. The grounds and public areas were beautifully maintained and well kept. The rooms were spacious and had very nice balconies. Dining was also very good with lots of variety, good food and service. There were also some very good shows put on each night. The people at the resort were all very friendly and accommodating. Great vacation resort!

Food in all restaurants was great. Rooms require updating and modernizing. Staff and service in all areas outstanding. transport to off site activities/shopping readily available and affordable.Short taxi ride to a Mexican type wal-mart if you need to replace items forgot to pack. Very good value for the money spent.Friendly Mexican hospitality creates a relaxing and fun vacation.

Buildings were maintained, grounds nicely manicured. Friendly staff, good service overall. My 3rd time back and would probably do it again, good value for the money. Especially nice because the shops, canteens and dive shops are only a few minute walk, lots of live entertainment in the evenings

We spent a very short time at this resort because we were offfered an upgrade to a resort down the road that offered a child free environment that greatly appealed to us. 😉 We did however, have the chance to enjoy the buffet for lunch and walked the grounds before we moved on. The lunch was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I'm sure this resort will be on the top of our resort list when we plan on taking our family along.

The grounds were immaculate and well maintained. Our room was large, clean and the balcony was fairly private. The resort had many amenities which were included in the price (kayaking, snorkelling, bicycling). The food was excellent, well presented and fresh. The resort is a ten minute walk to a marina where dolphins and manatees are performing. Excellent value and beautiful scenery.

This resort offers something for all travellers, Singles, couples and families. Although the resort was mostly couples there was plenty of room to find a relaxing area of beach or hang out at one of the 5 pools. Entertainment all day with interactive fun. Snorkelling at the resort in the warm ocean is safe and tropical fish are in abundance, they swim all around you, an underwater camera will capture some beautiful photos. Young children who can snorkel would have an incredible time exploring the lagoon and small protected reef. The area of Puerto adventures is safe, you can stay at the resort or tour outside the resort and explore the marina, golf course and other large areas seeking monkeys and iguanas plus a variety of birds. Restaurants are excellent and having a number to choose from was well accepted, never got tired of the same food. The selection of food was very good. I wood like to have seen more prawns and crab, however, the variety of fish kept me satisfied. Fruits, vegetables, cheeses and meets were fresh and delicious. Some dishes may be a little salty, so I would suggest taking smaller portion at first to sample. Rooms are extremely clean, quiet and staff are accommodating when needed.Leaving a minimal tip a day got you a nice touch to the hotel room each day from the cleaning staff. If you want to leave the resort and tour, I would suggest you take a cab to the nearby cenotes or ruins. Very reasonable prices and the safest way to get around. If you want to tour Chitza Itza or Ekbelam, book a tour bus, the hotel will help you with the arrangements, a little more pricey however the best way to avoid the corrupt police who expect bribe money and target rental cars, gas station attendance may rip you off during a fill up. (stating you did not give them enough money or trying to over fill your oil. Theatre and live music in the evenings followed by star gazing on the beach were a great way to end the day.

Nice resort, not too big, and in a great location within Playa Aventuras. Beach is smaller, but nice with good swimming. Food was good with excellent staff. Definitely of the quality expected from Catalonia resort. Definitely recommend it

The resort was nice! I like how there were different areas with different vibes. The beach wasn't amazing but it was very nice. The service was great all staff was welcoming. Food was great, some days better than others. Breakfasts were the best!!

Stayed on the Yucatan Beach side, with privileged upgrade, 2nd floor oceanfront room. This resort is quite compact, which makes it easy and fast to get anywhere. I feel that the upgrade was worth it. I mostly upgraded for the oceanfront view, but got some other perks along with it, like use of the privileged section of the beach, super service at the Pure Chill Out bar, coupons for a free spa service, and an extra 4th a la carte dinner. The room wasn't ritzy, but was nice, very comfortable, and well cleaned every day. Flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. There weren't many spare outlets in the room, so if you have more than 2 electronic devices, maybe bring an outlet splitter. The food was GOOD! A nice selection at the buffets & snack bar, with something for everyone. Basics like burgers, hot dogs, pizza, and fries - to seafood & steak. Lots of vegetable dishes, Mexican dishes, rice, pasta, soups, and bread choices. Breakfast had the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, plus lots of sweet choices like pancakes, waffles, and donuts! The beach was gorgeous. Swimming was very nice. There is a break wall that keeps the swimming area fairly calm. No vendors selling stuff. No timeshare people. Nobody bothered us at all. Only the waiter or bartender asking if we wanted another drink. I saved the best for last! The staff. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly above my expectations. There was a small problem with the safe in our room, and the power went out twice. Both issues were fixed right away, within 10 minutes of letting the front desk know about it. I usually want to try new places for each of my vacations, but I had such a nice time, that the Catalonia Yucatan has given me a good reason to consider going twice!

Fantastic food, service, amenities. Juice bar was a nice surprise! Felt safe walking outside the resort in the gated community. All excursions booked through Airtransat rep Anna were terrific - her service was exceptional.

Yes it's was a lovely place I would recommend it but if you ate looking for a great beach as this beach was nice but rocky but we were a where of that weather was great drinks where good meet a lot of people good time ..

Nice clean resort food was good and staff always helpful animation crew could have been more present but it seemed to be a quiet er group so was okay didnt dive becauae it was too expensive especially with u.s. exchange in gated community so it was too far to walk to road to catch collectivo

The resort is smaller than others I've visited and I liked that. The staff was amazing, the Transat service people were very helpful, excursions were good and very reasonably priced. We will be going back.

Many dining options with great food. Many different activities and bars for night time entertainment! The one and only thing I disliked was that our room had two small double beds and the mattresses were hard.

Love this resort. It is a smaller resort then we have ever stayed at but all in all it was great. The only thing is not much night life. And there isn't music at the pool which is nice which would be nice. We had ocean front room, beautiful view. Ocean is rocky but if you walk down a little ways you can get in where there are no rocks. Or wear water shoes to go in at the front of the resort. Spent most of the days that we were not on excursions by the ocean. I love the sound of the waves breaking on the reef. The resort is very clean and the staff are very friendly. We did have one issue that our room had a bad smell from the air conditioning unit for one day but they fixed it with in a day. So not much to complain about here. The food is great, the view is great, the resort is great.

Resort staff is amazing there can say enough about everyone there they went above to help and make my stay there unforgettable. The resort is a smaller one but from the food to the grounds everything is amazing , there are three pools one is a little quieter then the other we had a room overlooking the pool and the ocean second floor 3122 I believe. The beach is small so if you are a beach lover and like to walk this is not for you, there are plenty of beach chairs we never had a problem finding one but yes people do leave there towels on them to reserve them. There is a lounge in the one side that has live music and dancing there they are busy so get there early...and they do put on shows every night , there is a board that is by the Brisbane buffet and they post all the events for the resort there. Always something going on or if you just want to relax that works to. you can leave the resort and walk down to the Marina where there are shops and dolphins and sea lions great place to run early in the morning.They do list the travel form the airport to the resort as one hour but with all the drop offs it is more like two just so you know, but worth the drive time...Go Enjoy....

This was a very nice resort. On the positives it was very clean, great service, super staff and very good food. They don't make you jump through the usual hoops for the a la carte restaurants, you just show up and take you chances. We did 3 of the 4 and usually went around 6:30-7 and we only only had to wait once for an hour but we were a group of 6 so a little harder to accommodate. The only real negative was the size of the beach. It was very small and a little rocky getting into the water but it did make up for it with some good snorkelling and a nice little marina next door which was a pleasant area to go for a walk.

We arrived very late at night and my spouse was unwell. We didn't have a great first few moments, but the staff stepped in, cheered us up. Food was amazing. We booked here because of snorkelling. Once my hubby was well enough and finally could get in the water - he knew why the place was recommended to us! We loved it!

I had a great time at this resort with my family. The rooms were great; impeccably clean and the mini bar was always full. Staff came around in the evening as well to see if there was anything we needed. The staff were outstanding - very friendly and accommodating. The best service was from Manuel at the 'tequila' swim up bar! Overall it was great fun and I would go again in a heartbeat! Stayed January 2016, travelled with family

We stayed at the Catalonia Yucatan Resort and loved it. The buffets and a la cart dinners were all excellent. We loved them all. We had so much fun swimming in the ocean right out front, the snorkelling with all the fish was great. We especially liked the layout of the resort. Not so big that you are walking all day to get somewhere. The rule about not throwing towels down on deck chairs at 5:30 and never returning is gold! Its about time a resort put their foot down on that. We found 4 deck chairs everyday after our breakfast around the pools and then when we moved down to the ocean and boardwalk for the afternoons, we found always found 4 more together. Loved it. The staff was great as we always find in Mexico. Would return in a heart beat!

The hotel felt very small but the amenities were ok. The lagoon for snorkelling was good. Went for privilege superior which was a must since you have all amenities open to you. The spa was only open to over 16 so could not go with my 13 year old. Would not go back again.

Beautiful beach, well kept rooms, food was delicious with many options. Very far from the Cancun airport - did not receive an accurate account of travel time.... Front desk staff was wonderful. Restaurant staff were excellent. Activities team was lacking and we found some of the bartenders to be a bit rude. In general, noone went out of their way to make everything special. Excellent hotel, just not commensurate with what we paid.

Loved the resort. Clean and staff are amazing. Food was great and I really liked that it was casual. No need to worry about dressing up! Beach isn't great, but what is there is very nicely kept. Value for money is really really good. Not a party resort, but lots to do. Added plus is location in Puerto Aventuras

One of the nicer resorts we've gone to in the Mayan Riviera and we've been to the MR about 10 times. Staff was fantastic. Food and restaurants excellent. Pools , grounds and rooms were all very well taken care of. The beach where you sunbath and lay on was nice and sandy but step into the water and it becomes very rocky but pretty good for snorkeling with plenty of fish. One irritating thing were the people trying to get you into a "meeting" for Executive Club Travel , apparently "not interested" means nothing to them. Every day they would try to get you to a meeting. A short walk and you can explore Puerta Aventuras which is pretty interesting.

Well maintained, decent food, rustic beach, swim shoes for sure...difficult to access bar from beach and no servers there. There is lots more room for beach chairs than there actually was. Decent but not our favourite by far

The beach was horrible. 2 feet of white sand and then nothing but rocks in the water. Literally, there's no sand - it's all rocks. It was VERY difficult to get in and out of the water safely. The resort was too big for my liking. Lots of pools which was good because there were a lot of obnoxious drunks that we preferred to avoid. Food was ok. Elevator at one end of the resort and we were on the 4th floor. Not that big of a deal but tiring by the end of the week.

Everything was very nice except for the small beach!! Restaurants had good food, grounds were kept very clean and staff was very friendly. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and were ready to help all the time.
