I loved every thing about this resort. No negative feedback at all. The beach is wonderful and there is always chairs available anytime of the day. The room was very inviting and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This resort prides it's on being very, very clean. Quality food, drinks and service. We even had beach and pool bar service all set on a nice beach. Our room was spotless and made up daily. Comfortable beds and pillows. Quality sleep. Stayed previous year in building 8 and this time building 7 on second floor. This area is close to beach, pools and lunch restaurant. Favourite restaurant was the Italian. Then when we wanted a quick meal the buffet had a huge assortment of choices for dinner. Buffet breakfast was amazing with churros, homemade donuts and pastries to fresh omolettes, scrambles, eggs to order and so much more. Fruit, veggies etc.

Awesome everything very clean, great food and drinks Staff so friendly. Local shopping close by and many choices. Entertainment could improve. Only complaint too many towels left on lounges not in use. Not always a lounge chair available at peak time

We just arrived home after a beautiful week at Riu Playacarmen. What we found was that it was just the right size. Not a whole lot of walking to and from meals and the beaches and bars. The grounds were well kept with interesting little creatures bouncing around. Our room was very clean. Food was amazing and the hospitality was great with smiles and always willing to accommodate. We found one thing that was great was that the beach was kept very clean. Most of the resorts had seaweed washed up in front but our hotel alone with the other adjacent Riu hotel were kept very clean. Beach was amazing with a lot of chairs to accommodate everyone. The size of the resort was perfect for everything not a lot of people to make you feel crowded and crazy. It ranged from littles to older folks like us. The resort is set up for all accommodations with ramps all around the restaurants and into one of the pools. The only access that you couldn't get with a wheel chair or other accessibility means was the beach but I know that they could help out with that. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

The resort is beautiful, staff are very friendly and helpful, food was really good but not very warm under the heat lamps. Pools were great. Room was very nice although I'm not a fan of the open concept washroom as I travel with my sister. Eliana Anton was my agent and I was very pleased with her, she was very helpful and prompt.

We stayed for a week. Facilities are good, beach is beautiful, service above expectations, food is great, entertainment was above expectations ( we are in our 40 and we danced almost every night). The option of using other Riu hotels around added a lot. The only 2 items I would upgrade are the fitness center/Gym - equipment is very limited and outdated. Secondly, more shade option on the beach ⛱️ would be an asset. Overall, we definitely want to come back. Cheers

We had a great time at this resort, excellent service from the front desk to the housekeeping people. Everyone had a smile and were quick to help with any request. Two of the best things were no reservations for ala cart and men did not have to wear long pants. The ala carts were busy but people were seated quickly and food came hot and delicious with minimal wait. The resort is very clean with plenty of staff to serve you weather it was drinks on the beach or at the bar, buffet service was also top notch with a great variety of food to choose from. Would definitely return to this resort!!

The hotel was great, the staff was great and accommodations were clean and comfortable. The buffet restaurant exceeded expectations, ice cream and coffee were amazing. The entertainment staff were friendly, always creating moments of fun for the little kids right up to the adults. I really enjoyed my time and would recommend the property to anyone wanting a relaxing, carefree vacation with or without their little ones. Great job Riu!

This is one of the best resorts in Mexico I have ever visited, and I have been to quite a few. From the front desk when we arrived, to the grounds staff, our servers in the restaurants and the entertainment and recreation crew....whom were beyond excellent.

The beach was the most AMAZING beach ever!!! Like anywhere, the staff was excellent! It was a milestone birthday for me and they made it special! Food was repetitive and would have liked some variety. Overall, great memories were made here!

The layout of this resort was superb. From the front lobby to the rooms, pools and ocean you are looking at a 2 minute walk. Everything is close. The food was amazing, so much variety and absolutely delicious. Our room was spacious and very clean and the maid cleaned it everyday so well. The weather was fantastic, the pools were clean and they take care of the seaweed issue so you can swim in the beautiful water. Best of all, no line and not crowded, not sure if this was the time we were there Jan 1-8th, 2020. We will be back! You can walk the streets and because it is a gated community it is very safe. The decor and cleanliness was top notch.

This is the second visit to Riu Playacar in the last 4 years and it was as great as I remembered. This is a nice relatively small resort where everything is a short walk away. The staff are exceptional- unbelievably hard working and very friendly. Although we ate at the buffet the majority of the nights, it was great to not have to make reservations at the ala carte restaurants. We ate twice at the steakhouse and enjoyed both meals. The rooms are immaculate, the beds comfortable and the beach and pools are fabulous. Don’t think twice - just book it. You will enjoy it.

The hotel grounds are beautifully manicured and kept incredibly clean! Rooms are fresh, clean and as they're advertised. Food selection was fantastic and we really enjoyed the steakhouse - not needing to make reservations was a huge bonus! We went there twice and ate at the buffet the remaining nights - they even had a vegetarian section. Breakfasts offered a vast array of options from cereal to fresh fruits, custom omelettes, eggs any which way and a fresh juice station. For lunch, the salad bar was great as well as a full offering of hot foods or you could grab a bite at the grill by the pool. The staff is fantastic and always ready to please! We noticed that a lot of people don't tip the staff - take a wad of dollar bills and tip them - they'll all work so hard to make your stay enjoyable! Entertainment was great most nights - ending at around 11pm which is great for the crowd on a relaxing vacation. Those wanting a bit more nightlife could be shuttled to one of two other resorts just down the road. Loads of activities during the day - the staff is fantastic and not too pushy. This was our second time at the resort and we'd go back without a doubt!

Le resort est petit et très facile d'accès. Très facile d'accès pour les gens a mobilité réduite et les familles.... L'environnement est très propre, acceuillant. Le personnel est toujours souriant et tu as autant de service si tu donne du pourboire ou pas... La nourriture a une grande variété et est délicieuse, en 10 jours je n'ai rien manger de pas bon, pas frais ou redondant.. C'est vraiment un endoit magnifique

Very clean, great food choices, lots to do for couples and kids/families. Shopping is across the street. We were very sceptical about visiting Mexico but had a great time with the kids 3 and 7 months. We felt very safe and would definitely return.

Enjoyed very much staying in this resort! Great food, very well kept resort grounds. Attentive and great customer service at the desk. Rooms are very clean and resort looks like new (not sure how old). Very safe place to stay at, was able to go for a walk to the town of Playa Del Carmen. Resort staff was tiresly working on taking care of the see weeds on the beach and it was the cleanest beach, compared to other resorts. Would go back any time and definitely would recommend this resort to all my coworkers and friends.

This was a nice hotel with a gorgeous beach. We loved that the palm trees were the shade. The customer service was really good. We found that there was not enough variety with the restaurants. It would have been nice to be able to go to the other resorts for dinner. As a family food is really important to us and we are not really buffet fans. The rooms were clean the beds were uncomfortable and I know what people mean when they talk about the rooms smelling musty. We moved to a new room day two and it was fine. The pop show we saw on our last night was really good. I would recommend a daily Calendar of activities given out under your door. We have had this at the other places we have stayed and it was handy as we felt we didn’t really know what was happening activity wise. We travelled with two 19 year olds and two 15 year olds and found the resort very safe. Overall it was nice just not amazing.

The RIU Playacar was a great place to stay! From the reception where we were able to get our room at noon instead of at 3pm through to the easy checkout, we had a great stay! The room was immaculate, loved the towel art every day. The food was abundant, flavourful, different choices at the buffet. The a la cartes (we tried the Americana and Mexican) has great choices. The amount of food at the a la cartes was way too much. The steak took up 3/4's of my plate! The pools and grounds were kept clean every day. The public washrooms were fantastic. The entertainment crew was great. Some of the shows were a little cheesy but expected. My husband said he would return to this resort after the 3rd day there. That's a big compliment from him. The only thing I was disappointed in was the Sunwing Rep who was no where to be found after our first day there. We booked our return transportation. When we went back to book an excursion, he couldn't be found on day 2, 4, 5 or 6. We booked with a local agency and had a great outing.

The room was spacious, the food unbelievable, the staff so courteous, the facilities exemplary. The site was very clean. Mini bar refilled with more water and soda than we could consume. I'm so glad we went to the Riu Playacar and will never forget this trip.

I travelled with my two children, age 11 and 20. We were given a King bed our first night and was placed in a room close to the noisy theatre. The next night they moved us the to a double room with a cot and closer to the beach. If you can, request rooms in buildings 6,7 or 8. The entertainment staff was incredible. The food in the buffetts was also really good, better than the restraunts. The beach was beautiful and the resort was very clean. Great resort if you like a smaller resort. Everything was within a minutes walk. Also, a nice little shopping area with a Starbucks right across the street. You could walk into Playa or take a cab for 90 pesos. I would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel has been totally renovated. Rooms are large, modern and kept very clean. Buffet testaraunts good selection and quality of food. Staff through out were very friendly and smiling. Bar service was good. Great access to beautiful wide sandy beach. Pools were always clean. Ample loungers around pools and on beach. Good location with short taxi ride to 5th Avenue. Small shopping center accross the street, Nightly entertainment was poor.

My friend and I just returned from a week at Riu Plyacar. It was the perfect resort - not too big and not too small. Even though there were a lot of guests, it never felt crowded and there were no waits at any of the bars. Even on the days we slept in a bit, we could always find chairs by the pool. The resort and rooms were immaculate. Although we picked this resort partly due to the fact we didn't need to make reservations at the ala carte restaurants, we ate at the buffet every night. There we lots of choices to keep both of us happy. The entertainment crew were outstanding. They worked day and night running numerous daytime events ( poker, aqua fitness, Zumba, volleyball, soccer, bocce ball and horse shoes to name a few ) and then ran the evening show. They were friendly to all guests regardless of age. Do not hesitate to book this resort. You will love it.

The resort was very clean, The entertainment was amazing. The day crew was very interactive got people involved. However the air conditioning in our room would not go lower than 23 degrees. In the summer that is not cold enough. Our kids rooms air conditioner was working better. Called for service they never came, called again the man showed but did nothing. The Japanese ala cart was nothing special. Did not enjoy the Italian. Mexican and steak house were very good. Very close to playa del Carmen, actually ended up eating out a few nights. Beach was INCREDIBLE!!!! Beautiful with palms all over, plenty of chairs.

This was our 4th time to this resort. The newly renovated resort is very modern, with nice bright colors. The resort is small, making everything very handy. not too far to get to any location. The food is great with a lot of variety, the service is excellent. All the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Looking forward to going again next year.

Exceptionally clean, grounds very well maintained, food was excellent....the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Also, the resort was not too big that you had to walk long distances to the beach area or eating areas... it was also a great location as we were walking distance to Playa del Carmen to shop.

The RIU Playacar was a small beautiful resort. We were there from Jan 16th - 27th, 2016. The resort staff were outstanding, From the cleaning staff to bartender's and CSR staff. With this resort you can use 3 of the 5 other RIU's as well. The grounds were well maintained, food was outstanding, and being a $8 dollar ( US ) cab ride from downtown Playa Del Carmen ( 5min drive ) was a bonus! The rooms were very well cleaned. The hotel was renovated, I think for the better! I was very hesitant to go to Mexico to begin with, but when I arrived I felt very safe even walking from resort to resort, as well as downtown at night. The wait staff especially " KEVIN " was outstanding. the bartender " ENRIQUE " and 3 other gentlemen sorry cant remember there names ( Lobby Bar ) were exceptional! we never had to wait for a drink. "EVER" the Coco Bongo Rep was awesome ( not sure if he was part of the resort ), but took great care of us when we went to Coco Bongo. As far as alacarte ( sorry for spelling ) there were pretty much dead, only because the buffet was so good. the pools were ok ( not a sitting by the pool person so ) the swim up bar was great! lots of room. Beach was amazing, water was bath tub warm. so Overall it was an amazing time at this Hotel! wish we didn't have to leave.

Very nice resort beautiful beach grounds are well maintained staff very cooperative the food was very good not too impressed with the steak house restaurant stakes weren't that great nightly entertainment and beach activities were excellent the one negative point about the restaurant was the vendors on the beach consistently day in and day out every hour of the day there were vendors on the beach walking right up to you asking if you wanted to buy silver sunglasses hats etc

The grounds are being redone,food and drinks were the best.The resort staff ,i mean every person we dealt with could not do enough for you they were all excellent.Pools and ocean were great.All the people in our group rate it 5 star,great job riu on redoing the resort,we will be back.

Stayed the week of February 9th. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean, and well run resort. The beach is one of the best I have been to the water is shallow quite a way out and the sand is white and soft. Lots of lounge chairs and many Palm trees offer shade if you want it. The swim up bar was a lot of fun, the bartenders work hard to make sure you have a good time. The food was always good, hot and fresh and here again you can see the level of care the staff takes, the wait staff makes you feel right at home and take care of your every need. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and there is plenty of hot water and nice clean towels everyday! This is the smallest of the Riu's in this area but I think that adds to it's charm and personal touches. We walked twice into Playa de Carmen to check out the shop etc. It is an easy 30 minute walk past some beautiful homes and other resorts. Plus added bonus there is a Starbucks right across the road!

Nice resort. Smaller than most, but great service and access to Rio Tequila and others if want more action. Great beach access. Can walk easily into Playa Del Carmen. Buffet food was excellent. Lots of variety and high quality.
