Booked through Air Transat and stayed a week. Arrival at the small airport was a welcome convenience compared with Panama City. The hotel is built on a hill — expect to climb 66 steps between the lobby and the beach/food areas. The room was basic with nothing spectacular; the bathroom had a small window to the outside that let bugs in. Food was best at the a‑la‑carte restaurants (seafood and Mediterranean stood out). Drinks were mostly local; Smirnoff was treated as top‑shelf. There’s no late‑night food, and after 11pm drinks are only available in the nightclub, which is always a zoo. The beach is coarse with broken shells. Staff were friendly and professional with no issues. Property was well maintained but big, location overall quiet expect when there was in influx of people on the weekend. Overall the hotel was not worth what I paid$$$$.

The staff were amazing very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. My room was kept clean every day, which I really appreciated. The resort is quite large, so be prepared for a lot of walking, including hills and stairs but it’s a great way to stay active! The food was excellent with plenty of options, and as a vegetarian, I was really happy with the variety available. I loved the location and was very happy being on the beachside then Panama city Overall, a great experience. Would I go back? Yes, I would definitely return.

Me and my family had an amazing time at the Grand Decameron resort. There was lots of options with the à la cartes, the buffets has a good variety. Everyone was very nice and everything was very clean. I would recommend bringing your own cups because the ones provided are very small. I would also definitely recommend upgrading to plus. People who didn’t I overheard had trouble booking à la cartes restaurants. Being on the plus side was nice and quiet and we had a great room location. Couldn’t have asked for a better vacation!

The property is large, lush, and beautifully designed, with multiple pools, restaurants, and entertainment areas. However, if you have mobility issues, be aware that the resort has many steps and hills, which can make getting around challenging. The beach was one of the highlights—clean, wide, and perfect for long walks or relaxing under the sun. We visited during March Break, but the ocean was red‑flagged for most of the week, so we spent our days by the pool instead, relaxing and having fun with our son. We expected to see lots of Canadian kids, but only came across a few; most of the children were Spanish. The restaurants were good overall, and there was always something for everyone, though after a week I was ready to return home to familiar food. The à la carte options were mixed: the Asian restaurant was the best, the Italian was solid, and the Mexican was a bit of a letdown. My biggest frustration was the reservation system—you need to wake up early, get a number, and wait to be called to book. The resort really needs to modernize this process with technology, as many other resorts have done. I also wish the buffets had self‑serve coffee machines instead of having to wait for staff. The rooms are dated, but clean and comfortable, with essentials like air conditioning, satellite TV, private balconies, and daily housekeeping. The staff provided great service and worked very hard, especially considering how busy the buffet restaurants can get. The airport is small with a small store, there's no meals that you could purchase, just snacks and drinks, so be prepared for the flight home. Overall, the resort was great!

The resort has a tired, dated feel overall, and it would really benefit from some updates and repairs. The food was good—not exceptional, but enjoyable enough. The pool area itself was quite nice, though it was far busier than I prefer, with more kids than expected. The pool bars were consistently understaffed, and it wasn’t unusual to wait 15 minutes or more just to get a drink. My biggest concern, though, was the customer service. Much of the wait staff came across as indifferent, and the level of attentiveness just wasn’t where it should be.

I fell in love with Panama the second we landed. The resort was ok. I dont really like to stay in the resort. I like to explore. Car rental is right outside the resort so that was easy. Food was ok. Hard to get coffee for early risers. Not much English spoken but didnt bother me.

Wish we stayed longer, only 4 days 3 nights. Resort was expansive itself. We paid extra for the plus and were grateful we did. Amenities were great, food was plentiful with options. Beach loungers were still scarce even in the plus section at the pool and beach which was disappointing. Had to walk around quite of bit time before we could find one not in the plus side of things. We stayed in a garden view room which was at the top of the hill. Going up and down to access most of the amenities would def be an issue with anyone with mobility issues. Beach was clean and beautiful, 2 of 3 days red flag so we couldn't go in the water for swimming or other sports which was disappointing but understandable. Very hot and humid so be preparedg. Disco could be promoted more so people knew there was something to do after the animation show which was mainly in Spanish, sucked if you weren't or didn't understand. No mosquitoes and bugs. Checkin was okay, but didn't get our room until after 1.5 hour later after the advertised checkin time so take clothes to change into while you wait. Can't book a la carte restaurant the date of arrival, too late need to be done first thing preferrably in the morning so if you arrive late no chances but plenty of buffet and other options though. A bit of time at the bars to get drinks but once you did they were great and not watered down and great options especially in the plus side.

I had contacted the hotel direct before arriving to insure everthing would be in English and a request for room locations as I had been here before When we arrived our rooms were exactly as requested but the air conditioner had to be repaired and the safe did not work There was no English orientation just French no English from activity staff no times for restaurants or days open no information on events or entertainment Snack bar only open spraticly and not at all for late night,sports bar is now a kids zone no Olympic or super bowl coverage no bar stools at any bar Long lines at bars limited staff poor operation of restaurant booking no information. About features at the buffets Lost power fir 8 hr one day lost internet for 3 days and constantly being disconnected Day trips didn't tell you that some features were not included on scheduled days There was good parts most ot the restaurants were good and drinks were done well by most of the bartenders This place should have been a 5 star hotel for the price but it would be a stretch to give it a good 3 star I tried to contact the hotel higher ups while there but with no avail

This hotel is a great spot for a beach vacation. The food is amazing, the staff is perfect and everything is very clean. The only complaint is that the rooms, especially the bathrooms could really use an upgrade, but it is kept very clean. Overall, I would return as it checks all the boxes for us for beach, food, drinks, pool and location.

The grounds are nice but VERY big. And you can’t avoid huge staircases. I actually liked this because it helped me rack up about 13,000 steps per day without even trying. Never did we take the van anywhere on the property. And the grounds really are lovely—especially at night. There are many beautiful pools and a long, walkable beach. Unfortunately, to get a Palapa on the beach or around the pool, one needs to be up and mark their territory by 6:45 AM. Seriously. By 7 AM, almost all of the chairs are taken, some never to be revisited again until noon. This chair game is played at many resorts we have been to, but it seems to be really bad here. I’m not sure what the answer is, but for late risers it was very frustrating. The food is also, in my opinion, “meh”. We weren’t really even impressed with most of the à la cartes—IF you can get them! You need to come to the lobby EARLY to book (might as well scope out your lounge chair at the same time!). My husband went down to book once at 6:45 a.m. and was number 28 in line. By the time they called his number, the only spot available for dinner was 8:30 pm. And, to be honest, the only food that I thought was exceptional was the burger at Cowboy Restaurant. It really is all it’s cracked up to be! But nothing else really “wowed“ me. And I’m really the furthest thing from a foodie. But I was just often disappointed. I found the steak grizzly and almost inedible. I had salmon once and it was dry and overcooked. The starters in most of the à la cartes were buffet, which kind of negates the purpose of an à la carte. Also, cats and dogs roam through the restaurant. While this is something that I don’t really mind because I love animals, I really don’t think it’s appropriate. Now for the amenities. The rooms are very sparse. Toilet paper is single ply and scratchy.They do not provide body cream or shower gel or a shower cap. And we had to fight to get more than two towels (for both of us—only two are provided). And there are no face cloths. But these are all things you can just bring yourself so not a big deal but worth mentioning for those planning what to bring. The staff are very nice but many don’t speak English at all. I can speak a little Spanish and a little French so I got by, but if you are relying solely on English, you may have a bit of a problem. But when we did have an issue (for example, with the air-conditioning and our balcony door), it was fixed within the hour! Great service! It’s definitely not a bad place. It’s just you need to manage your expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends who like ‘upscale’ luxury trips. But on a budget, it’s definitely better than Cuba. But I think the standards are better in most resort destinations I have visited in Mexico. But, to be fair, Mexico has become much pricier since Covid. It’s also not the turquoise water of the Caribbean. But the water was calm and they have lifeguards on the beach which is definitely reassuring. The pools are wonderful for the kids though and, of course, the water slides are great fun. If we had to rate it out of 10, my husband and I both agree it’s about a 6.5.

We were prepared for dated rooms, but found most of the resort "tired" and in need of a facelift, from the lobby/lobby bar to the buffet restaurants to the rooms and some pools. We have travelled to many places and don't stay anywhere fancy but this resort was by far the most in need of work. Room was smaller than many resorts we've been to and we found it dark and a bit dingy. We wouldn't care, it's somewhere to sleep but there was visible dirt on the floor, things left behind by previous guests and a patio door that only my husband could open by lifting and shimmy-ing it over - I couldn't move it at all. We also had an "incident" with housekeeping, which was a first for us (and again, we travel a lot). Adjoining rooms can be loud (heard every word from our neighbors). Very poor service (absolutely none our first night, had to clean our own table to sit and weren't offered a drink at all and usually had to get up and go ask for tea and coffee in the mornings) at the buffets. Minimal selection of food. The beach is beautiful, no rocks or weeds in the water. However when we were there, if you weren't down to get a chair by about 7-7:30am, you might not find anything. Could use more palapas for shade and lots more chairs. Our room was closest to the middle pool and it was very crowded for the size of it, and could also use more shade. We felt that had we been able to book or upgrade to Plus, we would have had a vastly different experience, with a few more pools (and nicer looking pools) and restaurants to choose from. Bartenders were great, beach snack bar had good food and service, proximity to the airport is a big plus. We made the most of our time but I don't think this is a resort that we would return to.

The hotel is good. Has a lot of positive such as the pool and the beach are fantastic. The rooms are somewhat dated and lack items such as irons and coffee machines. The food is very good and the Asian, Italian and the Cowboy à la carte restaurant are excellent. The buffets are good and have plenty of selection. It’s was interesting that the staff were very friendly and attentive in the à la carte restaurants however not so much in the buffets. Staff did not seem informed about the resort. We were incorrectly directed several times during our stay. It’s is important to know that the resort is quite large and requires a lot of walking. There are a lot of stairs and steep hills to get to a good part of the resort’s accommodations. This wasn’t a problem for us however important to note if guest have ambulatory issues. There are shuttle available to be arranged if needed. Overall I would rate the resort as a three star but pleasant.

The hotel is ok. Too many rules to mention. You can't smoke or vape any where only the beach area. Can't listen to music by the pool. Only beach area. Can't drink by the pool with a cup the provide only closed containers. Food was good.

Our first visit to Panama was disappointing. The hotel advertisement lied. Pool our over crowded with kids no separate pool for adults. And definitely no swim up bar unless your VIP. Garden view rooms have no view of a garden just dirt. Food has no variety. Same thing everyday. All excursions were booked up before we got there so didn’t get to go off resort to view. And the biggest thing is the stairs for people that can’t walk a lot there is 74 step to climb for anything. We’re not very picky just wanted a nice place and this wasn’t it very disappointing from the minute we got off the bus. Needs to improve a lot.

Just recently returned from this resort. We had a good time, the resort is huge, lots of uphills, stairs, lots of walking for sure. The landscape was beautiful! Ocean was very warm, beach is nice and very long. Great for walking! Food was good, cocktails, coffee are perfect. Lots of Spanish speaking guests, even the staff don’t speak much English so brush up on your Spanish skills. Room ( garden view) was okay, a bit outdated. No issues with towels, or finding lawn chairs at the beach and poolside. Overall it was a great vacation!

We loved our stay at the grand Decameron resort! Food was excellent great service amazing pools and beach! Free wifi in lobby and most restaurant's. the villas are cute and big with a couch which is more of a bed! Great place for family with kids! Also the night shows are fun and entertaining!

Beautiful resort. Highly recommended the "plus" option. Restaurants were awesome. Staff was friendly. Host "Alex" was informative. Went on 2 excursions. A day in Panama city and a day in Anton. Totally enjoyed our 10 day stay ?

The grounds to the Royal Decameron were well taken care of. The a la carte restaurants were fabulous. The buffet restaurants were bountiful and readily available. Our room would be a 3 star. It was clean and comfortable. It lacked in lighting..no lamps at all, not even bedside lamps. The patio door was very difficult to maneuver..it definitely needed repairs. The entertainment during the day at the activities pool needed to tone down their sound system..it was incredibly loud!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The staff were great. The weather was perfect..and we would recommend.it is great value for the money! Close to the airport too!

Very disappointing. Food was disgusting, rooms had mold in the washrooms. No live music entertainment other than only spanish(no interpreters) for one nightly show which was not worth going to. It would be nice to have options for different age groups and at least a small amount of staff or people to provide french and english to some others that paid a large sum to be there. No water sports at all. Pools we being cleaned during our stay so shut down rather than at night. One pool closed at 530pm. Sunwing was not available. Fly air transat if you go they have a live person. Take the public bus not offered to town and hire a private driver to canal etc so your not disappointed when sunwing cancels for off resort trips 3 days in a row.

The best part of this trip was the weather which the resort had nothing to do with. There was a major language barrier and not good signage for English speaking people. Not many activities , the entertainment was not good,spoken almost entirely in Spanish and the food was not very appetizing. Staff was generally unhelpful once a major language barrier.

Language is a problem here. Spanish is preferred and treated with priority. Rooms are ok but dated, there are no coffee machines in room have to go to lobby if you want in room. Food is not that great but eatable if you don’t mind lukewarm and small selection same six things on both sides of buffet table. Alacart food is ok but not fantastic. Servers kind of serve Spanish better. We were ignored several times. Beach is big need to be there early to get umbrella even pool looked like taken quickly. For the price there are all inclusive resorts all over Caribbean priced same or less with better quality food and rooms. On the hillside gets kinda tired walking up and down they lied to us about shuttle. It’s there but common to wait 45 min

I was extremely disappointed with our trip to the Royal Decameron this time. We have booked there 3 times previously and enjoyed the resort. This time we found a rusted mini fridge in our room that was completely empty. It was advertised in you web site that there was a mini fridge in each room. It was fully stocked in our previous visits. Also there was no coffee making machines in the rooms. This was also a first. The site itself was very good and the staff very friendly. We won't be back here.

Grounds well maintained. Daily room service. Wi-fi / internet is intermittent. Al a carte restaurants are a nice change from the buffet. Beach is nice and we had a spot every day. Overall would recommend

It can be a great experience if u choose this resort with more than 95 % Latino people....All the neighbors of Panama are there...Nothing to worry but my experience start on the wrong foot...37 degrees filling like 43, after 6 hours of pleasant flight, my room ready @ 3PM sharp...not like others before...NO towels in the room! After 45 minutes & a lot of effort on my part, problem solved... The villa I've been, with ocean view , is situated on the hill. The access to the restaurants, buffet & beach : 95 steps up & down! Stair to heaven... 4.5 stars resort? Not even close...Room with basic furniture , no iron board & iron, no toiletries to impress , nothing like this... The only good point was the Dehumidifier in the room! Worth all the money we spend for upgrading to Plus. Actually that was not the only Plus... We have had access to everywhere...Ocean ,amazing! Kind of rough in first 2 days, but worth it ! Food...amazing @ Cowboy, Ramon having all sort out every evening. Very dedicated guy! The other restaurants...food specific Latino... Swimming pools well maintained but with no washrooms around & a lot of people spending hours @ the swim up bar, I wonder if they even realize the issue!!? Housekeeping working hard after being tipped...Bell boys doing the hard work with the luggage to the third floor ... Trip to Panama city & Canal- AMAZING! All together , another nice experience.

GOOD - close to the airport, buffet servers were nice, great weather, friendly staff, attentive if we had an issue, BAD - Cowboy restaurant burnt food unfriendly server, way too many stairs, some pools closed due to less customers, restaurants not marked as closed on a given day so we walked a long way only to find out they were closed, wi-fi inconsistent from same location, buffet food selection poor (compared to other all inclusive holidays i.e. Punta Cana) rice, beans and chicken mainly, OTHER - finger printed and photographed at airport,

The video posted by Trip Central needs to be updated. VERY misleading. This resort is a 2-3 Star at best. Stayed for 12 days. Upon arrival, we were assigned 2 Double beds, requested a King - none avail. requested again a few days later - was told no. Room was old, outdated, no screen on doors, gap under main door, mold in shower, behind sink, behind toilet was disgusting. Closets were dusty. the safe was about to fall off the wall. No coffee maker, no facecloth, no snacks in our fridge as was indicated, 2 bottles of water per day, and fridge stocked when requested - sometimes more than one request. We booked and paid extra for plus package!! Since our wonderful room was positioned near the stairwell, Hallways were EXTREMEY noisy, and doors slamming all night long. echoing in the hallway. A posted SILENCE sign could go a long way. Food was 50/50. Birds were actually eating from the buffet tables, since there were no nets to protect the food. Staff were very nice, worked very hard. I ended up in the hospital after 4 days. Intravenous, medicine. Doctor said Virus - which my hubby didn't catch. I say Food Poisoning, Fever, Vomiting, Chills, Diarrhea, in bed for 4 days. Couldn't eat or drink alcohol, and I am still feeling ill today. The doctor and Nurse however, were very nice. They took good care of me. I was ready to come home on April 11th and cut the trip short - but Trip Central wanted 1200$!!!!! I am beyond disappointed in the resort and Trip Central. We have booked MANY trips through you - and I was the sickest I have ever been in my life! Air Transat stated they would have rearranged this for us at no cost. Grounds were beautiful, beach was vey nice. BUT - I will never return to this resort. I have pictures of the mold in the room and the disgusting mess behind the toilet. Don't normally look there, but its the bathroom is where I spent most of my vacation. What a waste of money.

The Royal Decameron Beach Resort is a great place to stay! Our room was immaculate and up to date, we had a lovely room in building 11 with an ocean view. The staff (bartenders, servers, ground maintenance, lobby) were ALL amazing and so appreciated us trying to speak a little Spanish with them. Drinks were great! Food was good. All in all we had a great time! If you mobility is challenged this isn't the place for you. We were very happy to get 8-10 thousand steps in a day and that's with 6 hours of laying on the beach.

We arrived on March 15th to surprise some of our friends who arrived the day prior. We had a great time I will rate my review on Pros and Cons! Pros Food was great buffets and le cartre Check in and out were super quick Staff very friendly on the most part Very Clean around the resort and room (we did have a cockroach in our room once ) Room air conditioner worked well as it is HOT in Panama Cons Very large resort lots of stairs and ramps. If you have a mobility issue not a place for you Al le carts hard to book. Not always avail and open Air conditioning in room is the ONLY relief from HOT weather Rooms are very dated but in the “80’s” still in the “80’s”. If you want luxury this is not the place for you Not enough umbrellas around pools for shade AIRPORT Very close if you fly Sunwing or Air Transat no food or drink avail but security will allow you to take in. Too bad the resort would not forgive the 3 hr before as it really isn’t needed! A good resort for a fun group trip! F your looking for luxury not for you!

This is a slightly dated but very well maintained Resort. If you like walking, this is for you. The water was a bit rough but other than that, no complaints. Felix at the bar makes super drinks. The shows could use a bit of improvements though. We were in Block 16 with the most beautiful view.

It’s not the most luxurious resort I’ve been to, but I didn’t expect it to be. it was advertised as a 4 star and it is a 4 star (maybe 3.9). The buffet food was OK. Restaurants were good. Resort is large and lots of stairs. Room was a bit tired but clean and functional and the AC worked. It was what I expected it to be and therefore I wasn’t surprised or disappointed.

Would not recommend this resort. There was never a good selection/variety of food and the rooms were very basic. Could not adjust the thermostat in room, no face cloths, and 1 bottle of water in your fridge was all they provided. Unless you have some knowledge of Spanish or can communicate in Spanish, this is not the place to vacation. Evening shows and most poolside activities were all in Spanish. Had a better experience in Cuba for a lot less $$$. The sun was the best part of this vacation.... but you can find that in many other resorts that have nicer amentities and value for your dollar.

Do some research and look at reviews before travelling to this resort. Very large resort with elevation, so lots of stairs to access the upper level. There are shuttles , but you may have to wait. Close to small airport of Rio Hato which was great. It is a small airport so there is no duty free or shops. Even though the resort is close, you don’t really hear the planes- they are during day/ afternoon. The resort was very busy, not much seating by the pools, busy in buffets, not much seating in the lounges. Our group upgraded to Plus which was worthwhile for us. Wifi, stocked fridge, safe included with upgrade. Also able to preselect your à la carte restaurants on the Monday, or line up and reserve every 2 days. Discount golf at Mantarrya Golf course for the golfers. The course was very nice and part of our group played several rounds. The resort grounds are well maintained with gardens, figurines, wall murals on buildings. Clean resort. Beautiful long beach for walks. Our rooms were dated, but clean, old fashion key door lock. Limited drawer space, but a few shelves in closet. A couple of days we had to ask for towels or water, but otherwise no issues. The food was good, we all survived, there is a variety of options both with the buffet and a la cartes. Some langage barrier with staff but for the most part we were understood or asked for someone who spoke English. The most problem was booking a la carte restaurants, as the hostess had limited English. The staff were pleasant and all hard working. The dining room staff at the buffet some of the busiest with the turnover of guests and tables. The biggest issue for me was the “reserving” of beach/ pool chairs. I am an early riser and most mornings I would go to the pool (adult plus and Pacifico) at 5:30 and chairs were reserved with towels but there was no one around. I would grab a spot and stay and read the news and watch the sunrise. By 6 am, most of the chairs were taken, but no one sitting in them sometimes until afternoon. Some guests also reserved shade and sun chairs by the pool as well as beach spots, therefore taking up spots in 3 different areas. So either the resort needs to add some chairs or monitor the non use of reserved spots.! Pool chairs and tables were also removed from the pool area to bring to the beach! Our group did not participate in any activities/evening shows as they all took place in the main section of the resort. The plus section did not have any animation team present. Lobby 3 had live music a couple of nights, but there is limited seating in the lounge, so standing may be required Our vacation overlapped with Panama’s Carnival, so it was busy over the weekend, with families and boisterous guests and large groups. I would recommend the resort to others if they are willing to do a bit of walking and climbing. The weather was spectacular, over 30C most days, not a drop of rain. Could not ask for more. I would return to Panama but likely look for a smaller resort

Little bit dated and very little consideration for handicapped persons, that being said the hotel was kept very clean the staff were always very friendly and we were treated very well. Perhaps some evening entertainment for adults might be good. ( other than Karioki)

The hotel was very large, with well kept mature grounds. Rooms were standard, but spacious. Restaurant’s and amenities were adequate, and staff were helpful. Very clean and comfortable, although a lot of walking is necessary. Not everything was wheelchair accessible….but a very nice resort.

The resort was clean even though it rained often but not for long periods they were very good at clearing debris. The food was good for a resort I wish there was more choice at the buffet but what was there was good . The cost for was you receive was very good the beach was nice , plenty of pools , and a nice water slide .

This was my first time in Panama, not only at the Royal Decameron Resort, so I didn't know what to expect... Of course I checked the reviews from other people, but everybody has their own impressions... The member of the staff were very friendly and helpful, always smiling, not just expecting tips...like it happened to me in other places... The room, the lobby, the restaurants, all common areas very clean, always somebody to pick up a paper or even a leaf... The only suggestions I will have for improvement, not as a critique, will be: - advertised in the lobby, where everybody could see and read the daily activities scheduled and location, regarding the entertainment also restaurants due for buffet and snack duty... the resort is pretty large and are a lot of stairs... is hard after you are exhausted by heat to go back and forth... - the stand up comedy act and all other jokes as part of the entertainment program should be also translated in English... if you don't know Spanish you are missing a lot... - for some reason my room had no artwork on the walls at all, was looking kind of cold and empty... also no plastic furniture on the balcony, so I couldn't enjoy that space... That is about all I had to say!

We spent a week at the Royal Decameron at the end of April 2023 and had an amazing stay. Check in/out was a breeze and booking excursions was really easy. I would highly recommend the tour of Panama City and the Panama Canal if you have never been before. Food wise, the buffets were really good, the restaurants were great. Our favourites were the asian restaurant, the steakhouse and the mediterranean. The resort is large, well laid out and easy to get around. There are multiple pools, some more oriented to kids and some more oriented to adults so lots of choice there. We upgraded to an Ocean View room and I would highly recommend booking that if you can. On the topic of rooms, the rooms are a bit dated. That said, the bed was comfortable and the A/C worked fine. Honestly if you are going on vacation to spend time in your room, what is the point? The beaches are great for long walks and the sunrise is worth getting up for. The surf can be heavy, so pools are probably a better choice if you are travelling with small children or are not comfortable in the ocean. There is a small island off the shore from the resort. We took a really fun snorkeling tour of the island with Farallon Adventures. Walk down the beach past Casa Gresca and look for a blue and white sign in the beach or call them at 507 6645-6690. The thing we found most amazing about the resort was the staff. Everyone was super friendly and outgoing from the front desk to the gardeners. The animation staff were a treat to interact with. Edwin, Robert, Xamaira, Alex, Dianallyz, Jorge and everybody else really helped make our stay a ton of fun. My girlfriend loves going to the shows and doing poolside activities. I prefer spending time at the beach or in the ocean. That said, I found the staff engaging enough that I was participating in the poolside activities and enjoyed the shows as well. The dancing in the shows was top notch and the staff really put their hearts into it. It really felt like everybody there took pride in their jobs and put a lot of effort in to everything they did. This was my first visit to Panama and I would happily go back to the country and to the Royal Decameron.

Everything about this resort was fantastic! Delicious food, lovely beaches, clean pools, room and resort cleanliness! The team was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend and would return!!!

Our stay was on the All inclusive Plus section (April 6th to 17th 2023) which I recommend if you are looking for a quieter/not so busy section. Food was fantastic (my scale would attest to that lol) Lots of beach to walk which was amazing...loose sand not touched by high tide gets extremely hot...have your flip-flops handy. I have no complaints about this resort but I am also not the picky/princess type...I accept that I am visiting a foreign country and that things will be different therefore we learn to adapt. All the staff we interacted with were polite, courteous and respectful. It is a big resort and yes there are lots of stairs...again we adapt. We are there to relax, not run a marathon. A few things to know: there are no coffee machines in the rooms but coffee was available at the lobby by 5:30-6am or in restaurants/buffet by 7am. Facecloths are not supplied...only bath and hand towels in the room. If you are on the Plus side, beer will be given to you in the can (bring a beer cozy or drink it fast) if not it's in a paper cup unless you have your own mug and the paper cup applies to the whole resort for cocktails. If you are travelling with Air Transat as we did, I do recommend you go to the welcome meeting a day or two after your arrival as there is good information given. Not once did I see a rep from Sunwing during my 12 days there so not sure if they hold the same type of information session. Last but not least, you will not be bothered to take a tour where they try to sell a timeshare.

All areas were well kept. Clean. Food very good. Always a variety available. Rooms very comfortable and clean. We had upgraded our package, that way we had a fridge in our room which was stocked daily. Only little issue is that employees speek minimal English so a good time to practice your Spanish.

The hotel, grounds and pools were very clean and modern. Rooms were modern, adequate and spacious but the only place to put clothes was the closet— no chest of drawers. Staff were always polite and friendly, at times the dinning rooms were short of staff and service was slow. Communication was lacking as to what venue the buffets were being served in, it would have been nice to have a schedule or signage indicating location. Service at the pool was excellent

We had a great time at this resort. The rooms were nice &cleaned everyday. The grounds , pool & beaches were also cleaned on a daily basis. Lots of walking on The resort. The food was very good. The service from the employees were excellent. The resort is very close to the ocean. Only problem was for meals you never knew which place to go. No posting of meals but you can book a la carte. We went to 2 a la carte and they were great. We found it was too expensive for the resort but otherwise loved it. We prefer Cuba.

We had a great 11 days at the resort. The buffet food is great, the alacartes were excellent. The weather averaged 33 degrees. The rooms were clean and cool with a/c. Well kept grounds and beaches and the staff was very friendly. We were only 10 mins from the airport. Will definitely go back!

The resort grounds were beautiful with amazing large mature trees and flowers and they were all very well maintained. All staff were very friendly, saying hello anytime you walked by. The bar staff were quick and friendly, even when they were busy! The beer tent on the beach is a fantastic idea to take the pressure off the bartenders for people who just want beer and great for people who just want beer to not have to stand in line at the bar. Our room was in Building 15, at the lobby level so we had plenty of steps to take down but we had an amazing view and the steps were good exercise. The food was acceptable with a great salad bar and wonderful fruit selection. There was always plenty to choose from and none of our group (15) went hungry. The beach was great with lots of loungers. It was such a long beach it was great to walk it every day. The sand was a little coarse but felt kind of good on the feet. If there weren't so many other places in the world to visit I would definitely return to this resort.

this was such a beautiful place we had a ground floor ocean view and it was perfect the housekeeping staff was amazing and courteous the food was great especially at the a la carts (although the one was always booked up and there seemed to be preference given to guests that had been there before or were regulars ) I also found that the entertainment staff was not as engaging with guest with children and we were never aware of anything that seemed to be going on but that being said the resort its self was kid friendly and lots for them to do but on a whole we had a great vacation and would recommend this place

Room was outdated and barely functional. No lock sliding door, poorly working air conditioner, cold water, no drinks in fridge, lamp didn’t work properly the one that was there, and wifi didn’t work in rooms as stated. I’ve been to a lot of resorts and this one was lacking in staff and customer service. They had a lot of rules not stated anywhere that felt like they were making things up and manipulating guests…not only my crew that experienced. I feel the staff are disgruntled and lack personality except for a handful here and there and may be affected by bad management as a run in w management would make me feel this way. I think the resort is too big for the amenities they have including far too few chairs around the pools. Communication was difficult as w many resorts but this one was worse still. On the bright side, the food was mostly good, at least, good food wasn’t hard to find. Also, the beach and pool were nice if you could find a chair getting up at 6am (as long as management didn’t take your towels away). And the weather was great. When you get down to it, that’s the reason I’m there and to learn a little about the area which I was able to do with excursions off resort.

We booked at Royal Decameron Playa Blanca 4-star location, for a 10-night stay, at $1850 per person double occupancy. I will admit that I was really looking forward to this trip…!!!! We arrived to the hotel (only 7 minutes from airport) in the area of 4:15pm. Check-in was quick and easy. They give you an actual “key” tied to a shoestring, and only have 1 per room available …. CLERK: For your first night, go to the buffet dinner at 6:30 with the Canada group. Your room is here (as he circles on the map) and the restaurant is here (circles again). Call extension 8000 and we will send a transport to take you. ME: Can we not walk?? CLERK: Today you walk, tomorrow you will call me. We quickly found out why …. The complete resort is on a 30-ish degree slope, with very few stairs; the rest of the walkways are incline paths, with 8-10-inch culverts on both sides (for the rain to run down), some with exposed electrical wires sticking out of them as well as extremely loose insert covers where the culverts intersect the paths. The room refrigerator is empty, with a sign on it indicating that they DO NOT fill refrigerators, that it is available for whatever we decide to purchase and bring back to our rooms. Considering that Panama is “between 7 and 10 degrees north of the equator”, one would think that they would supply AT LEAST water in an “all-inclusive”! Walking to dinner and pool was all downhill, but coming back to the room almost killed this girl ( but I did it!! TWICE!! ) Note that we arrived for dinner as soon as buffet opened as neither one of us had eaten all day, and ALL dishes were cold …. Not warm, but COLD!! 😳 … same for breakfast the next morning. For both meals, we had to chase down waiters for water/drinks, which we received when we were finished eating. The room has 2 double beds and is extremely dated and could use major renos … no big deal at first sight…. The patio door and window next to door do not lock.. however, they have it plastered litterally everywhere that they are not responsible for lost/stolen items. Common practice, however, we noticed hard emphasis on this point.. much more than anywhere we've ever been, and we've both been to a "few" places. When the putrid odor of urine in the washroom was mentioned to the employee who asked how everything was so far, we were answered that often animals will urinate on the outside of the building and it will make its way inside…. There was no urine smell outside however, and we were on the 2nd floor. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We kept saying we would make the best of it…. We then noticed that the shower leaked from everywhere except from the shower HEAD, the shower door did not close properly, therefore leaving LOTS of water on the floor, no matter how hard you tried to avoid it. Only the low setting on the blow dryer worked … electrical short?? The air conditioning after running all night, managed to bring the temperature down to 26 degrees in the room. After 20 hours, I had my son get online booking us in at the RIU Playa Blanca just up the street, paying out of pocket for the stay, in the amount of $2720 for 9 nights. We were at their check-in counter 22 hours after arriving in Panama. Once unpacked and installed at the RIU ( where I must add, everything exceeded expectations), I went online and looked at photos of the Royal Decameron that prompted me to book there in the first place …. In my son’s words, it only cost $2700 for me to know how Photoshop works 😢😢

Customer service was amazing. The cleaning of the resort never stopped. The place was so clean from the beaches to the pools to the grounds and everything in between. The food was amazing. I do not have one complaint about this beautiful piece of paradise

We truely enjoy this resort! It is one of our favorite places. We have been here several times. The resort is beautiful and thecfood is great. We have never had an issue with the service either. There is a bit of an issue with it being an upper and lower area but we just booked an oceanview this time so we were on the level mostly where there is all the amenities and the pools and beach. I really love this resort and the weather is very hot. Lovely time every time. Also, the airpirt is 4 mins on the bus!!

This was our first time in Panama and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was great. We loved the buffet food variety at breakfast lunch and dinner. The grounds were very well kept. The staff were attentive and worked hard. We had just a couple issues which we brought to their attention and they dealt with it professionally and promptly. I cannot give this hotel a bad review at all. We were both very pleased and would return again.

Hotel is very large with alot of stairs. Only air conditioning is in your room, but works well. They rotate restaurants and bars opened so busy at them. The staff all wear masks outside and inside. Most visitors don't. You have to make daily reservations for dinners. There is a big communication issue used google translation often. Buffets for breakfast are busy had to line up one day outside waiting for available table. Food is moderate, all have buffet salads, soups then order main courses. Desserts a few choices but at 2 restaurants waited for desserts service over 20 minutes so left. Even ordered a second glass of wine never came. Found no bars to sit at except one with about 8 tables but not open much. Even lobby only has about 4 chairs and a couple of couches to sit. Usually can't get seats at pool either because don't have all opened at a time. Beach is great not busy. Grounds need work look okay but need work, grass wasn't cut branches, leafs, rocks lying around.Resort is 5 minutes from airport. Overall okay resort but needs work.

As always the Royal Decameron Panamá was beautiful. They went above and beyond with cleaning, food preparation and distribution. Staff provided gentle reminders for guests to wear masks and tables and chairs were kept a good distance apart. Our rep did a great job coordinating a lab to do our pcr tests. Results cam back in about 12 hours. I also need to point out that our Ttipcentral rep Susan Snider did a stupendous job getting our travel documents together. Thank you

great hotel clean lots of restaurants to choose from food was good the grounds were kept neat and clean big resort lots of rooms each section of rooms only had 3 floors no high rise which was nice alittle bit of a walk to some places on the resort

This is a very secure resort. The place is gorgeous specially if you have kids with you. The resort includes two water slides. The food is excellent including many restaurants It is very clean & well kept. The beach is also very nice. People are very friendly. The weather is great....warm & hot Unfortunately it's lacking as far as the water sport (sailing.kayaking etc) why ??? Very nice room

Great place Friendly staff grounds and room very clean and well maintained Good variety of restaurants for a la cart and child friendly I definitely suggest everyone to get the upgrade to the Plus as you are able to get access to a few of the private pools and beach Beach excellent and very clean The golf course very nice and affordable All that said we would definitely come back and bring more friends and relatives as the experience was amazing

We had good time . It was beautiful hotel delicious food friendly staff , very good service, hot weather. Nice and clean pools, Nice sand beach. We were there for two weeks it was great choice that Maria from trip central choose for us . Panamanian people were very polite honest people . Rooms were nice and clean and renovated.

I thought the resort was spread out perfectly. The food variety and quality was great. The overall service was great as well. The pools were clean and not too busy , the beach was clean and close to the pools. The rooms were spacious clean and the bar fridge was always stocked { we had inclusive plus } which i highly recommend. Being so close to the airport was great . 6min to the resort. Because we had the inclusive plus , our rooms and check in were waiting for us when we got through customs. Overall , the 8 days I stayed was great . Weather was perfect . Bravo

I thought the service was great , the food and variety was great. The weather was unbelievable. The ocean front room we has was big and clean. I golfed and I thought the course was great and very affordable. Overall , I loved it

Vacationed at the Royal Decameron for two week at the end of January. The resort was very close to the airport which was a plus. The resort had lots of low rise villas that were spread out over the resort. The room was simple and clean. There were lots of stairs and sloped roads between the lower level of the resort and the higher level of the resort. If you have any mobility issues you might have a problem. The food at the different buffets was alright (not a lot of variety).The service was not always the the best at the buffet because the resort did not have enough people employed. All the a la cart restaurants were very good and so was the service. The beach was great to walk on. Try to walk early in the morning or later in the day because it is very hot. The pools were good but did not have a lot of shade. We enjoyed the trip to the Canal and Panama City, as well as the Tram trip to the Rain Forest. Both trips we had to travel to Panama City which is about 2 to 2 and half hours depending on the traffic. I would recommend both trips. Overall the trip was good, especially if you like it hot and sunny.

The resort was satisfactory, The food was good but had to always ask for bacon as that was never offered easily, The resort had this thing about all-inclusive but seemed to make the security box extra and WiFi in your room extra as well unless you where in the all inclusive plus area. The main language was Spanish with most of the workers not understanding English at all, but we where able to get by. The entertainment was also mostly in Spanish but where able to have some of it translated during the show. Over all good to great but would have second thoughts about going twice.

ROYAL Decameron Beach was beautiful place nice and clean good food.room was great pool very nice waiter and bartendors great sorry cant spell . Transat people on resort great .The day to panama city and panama canel very nice guide very nice jenny.Great lunch great and i got a Panama hat that fits me .To bad i came back to snow

This was our third stay at this resort and we still love it. The Panamanian weather is why we keep going back but the Royal Decameron is also very nice. The staff is great, the rooms are clean, the property is large and beautiful and the there’s so much food options to choose from. The drinks are average and inconsistent from one bar tender to another so once you find one you like, stick with them, because the next won’t do it the same. Overall, this is a great resort, wish there weren’t so many hoops to jump through for dinner reservations.

Had a wonderful time, the resort is clean, lots to do, the food overall was good, the room was cleaned daily, this our 2nd year there in a row going to the Royal Decameron, I would definitely tell people about this resort

The resort was awesome! It was a lot bigger than we expected but it was the cleanest resort we have ever been to. It had the most beautiful restaurants ! The only thing that i found was that they couldn't speak a lot of English! The grounds were beautiful ! The Panama canal is out of this world amazing!

-The resort required a lot of walking on hills and stairs -They have peacocks on the resort that made horrible and loud noises at all times of the day and night which made it difficult to sleep -There was not enough umbrellas or shaded areas - I traveled with two other friends and every single one of us got really sick from the food and this lasted over 24 hours -The food was not fresh/cold, it was not hot, they lacked variety of food which made everything very unappealing to eat - at certain locations you knew that food had been sitting out for very long periods of time -You had to book the restaurants in advance which is fine, and you could only book 3 days at a time, but, even if you went early in the morning to book it you were not presented with a lot of time options. We therefore didn't even get to try 3 of the restaurants as a result -You have to pay extra to use a safe, you have to pay extra to have your fridge stocked

Resort is literally minutes away from the airport...you can see the incoming planes right before they land LOL. But planes are few and far between so they don't constantly fly by. Very clean grounds, lots of maintenance staff and room attendants. We had a problem with the toilet and someone came to fix it within 5 minutes. Food is decent but do go to the a la carte, they are very good (especially the seafood and mediteranean) Predominately Spanish speaking resort but also French and English. We heard about the upgrade (all inclusive plus) but wanted to wait until there to check it out. Advantages : priority for a la carte, Wi-Fi in your room and not just in lobby area, access to 2 pools reserved for members and upgraded drink selection. All this to say, we didn't take it. We stayed in building 16, 2 buildings over from Lobby 1, and we had Wi-Fi in our room, no problem. The 2 upgrade pools had nobody there all the times we walked by. If you asked for Smirnoff instead of their vodka, you'd get it. The disco played 98% Spanish music, so don't expect top 20 hip hop from North America. It definitely helps if you speak a little Spanish , if not there's always Google translate LOL. A little market and little town 5 minutes walking distance away, so you can grab beer/alcohol/food for your room if so desired. We went to Nico's beach bar, twice, and met the owner Phillipo and his wife and kid. Very friendly people from Italy, been there for 5+ years and the 1st night he lent us his laptop to watch playoff hockey. We returned 2 days later and it was plugged in to the big screen tv on the wall. Swim in the ocean between intermission, incredible ceviche and Panamanian beers later, we had a great time off resort. He even gave us a ride back in his golf cart because it was later at night. Driving down the street in a golf cart, with Chico his dog, you had to be there LOL. Don't go there expecting a party like Cancun or Varadero, but a nice relaxing vacation in 35+ C / 95 F weather. There are no swim up bars, as I said it's a family friendly resort.

The Royal Decameron Panama was the perfect place for our girls' week. I am not normally a resort person but this place has converted me. Everything was better than expected. Beach was amazing, food was always fresh and delicious, grounds well maintained, rooms clean and comfortable and the staff were fantastic. We are already planning our next trip.

Panama was crazy hot and super dry at the end of March. Golf course is nice but rock hard and again just sooo hot n dry we only played 2 rounds although we planned to play more. The resort itself is was ok but dated, no coffee maker or mini bar in the room but a fridge and a complimentary bottle of water each day. Everything was extra, $16us for mini bar service ( not sure what that would include) $3.25us for a safe key( lost mine...$85us charge😳) Nice pools and the food was ok. NO BACON😕 115 stairs from beach level to the room, no elevators! All that said the people of panama are nice but really don’t seem to care that they don’t speak or understand English. I travel a fair bit but doubt very much I’d find myself looking at panama as a destination again🤷🏻‍♂️

We just returned from our third trip to the Royal Decameron and we loved it (as always). The food, drinks, and rooms are all good but what makes it a special place are the people and the variety of activities available, such as the Canal, rainforest, and simply lounging on the beach.

Our first experience in Panama was at this resort. Everything went smoothly upon arrival. Room check in was at the airport which was a very nice surprise. Upon reaching the resort we took our baggage to our room only to find there was no power and our bathroom was under construction. We went to lobby 3 with pictures in hand to show the staff. They apologized for the inconvenience and gave us a new room and the hydro was on. Beautiful view of the Pacific from our balcony. The resort was very well kept and the staff friendly. Peacocks and Iguanas on the grounds were fun to watch and photograph. The food was amazing everywhere except our one night at the El Canal. Tuna steaks were terribly over cooked. The entertainment was typical of resorts. There were unannounced fireworks one night/morning (12:30 am) . Was a nice light show too bad we were asleep when it started. The Disco was somewhere at our end of the resort though we never went. Didn't need too. I guess the DJ figured everyone on the resort should here his playlist at volumes way beyond necessary. Trust me I love loud music but this was ridiculous. There was no iron in our room so I asked the desk if I could get one. They delivered one a short time later . Went to use the iron a couple days later and found it missing. Inquired if staff had took it and was told yes. There are only a certain amount available for everyone. This was the night before leaving. Packing up to come home noticed that my expensive sunglasses were missing. Guess whoever picked up the iron decided they needed glasses too. All in all a nice vacation unfortunately they should advertise they are smoke free. Won't return because that is our way....too many other places to see.

We spent 11 days at the Royal Decameron with our 3 kids (ages 5, 7 and 20). Everyone had a great trip and we all enjoyed the resort very much. There was lots of pools and areas to lounge and swim. The beaches were beautiful and clean and there was a smaller waterslide for the little ones to enjoy. The food was good and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from as well as the buffet which always had a good selection and was different from night to night. The rooms weren’t anything fancy but were clean and served their purpose I would recommend booking an upgraded room to an oceanfront room as they were certainly a little more accessible. The one drawback was the resort did have a lot of stairs and if you had a Gardenview or Oceanview room you had a lot of climbing to do back and forth to your room. The resort is located right beside the airport which was very convenient and there were not a lot of planes coming in and out so this did not disrupt our relaxation. We visited the resort in March and we had nothing but blue sky‘s and sunshine. You couldn’t beat the weather! The staff was helpful and friendly but Spanish is definitely their primary language and a lot do not speak English. We would definitely visit this resort again!

The resort is beautiful, very busy at the pools by the beach, but there is an adult pool up the hill that was great. No problem with only one room key (but you can get another one for a $15.00 deposit, and refund if you keep your receipt apparently) Lobby 3 was for (gold) people but anyone could go there and listen to the music in the evenings, but if you were not gold you had to have a plastic glass compared to a glass one (sort of silly, because you could have a glass one in the other lobby) Lobby 2, should have more places to sit, no music or anything there, but would be nice to sit and play a game or something. Lobby 1 was always busy. All in all a great holiday

The resort is nice and big. Lots of places to walk without going off resort. Lots of steps and hills so not good for people with mobility issues. Food is good. Wine is drinkable but not great. Rooms are plain and simple. No pop or beer in fridge. We did get bottled water everyday. In lobbie 3, unless you are gold , the drinks come in plastic glasses which l thought was different. Pools are crowded. The resort needs another adult pool. Lots of kids. The resort definitely needs more shade structures on the beach. My only suggestion- if you can afford it- upgrade to gold.

My husband and I came back again this year. There were new owners this year. Pretty much the same as last year. Except now they've created a plus service and limited pool use Lobby use and bar use which is not very clearly identified and made for confusion. Overall a pleasant stay, clean and the food was still good as usual. Improvement could be made on entertainment but was good. Big Resort lots of walking. Overall stay was great.

Overall this resort was great . The beach was good , pools great , cleanliness excellent , staff ...beyond amazing .The resort ,as reported on many sites , has many stairs/hills to climb . These after a week became a burden . The restaurants for the most part were ok . We upgraded to the gold bracelet giving us access to the Kontiki restaurant and nearby buffet restaurant .The food at both was excellent as was the service (Viviene?). This easily made up for the less than memorable restaurants .Two of the ala carte restaurants ,Cuyoco and Canale ,were disappointing to say the least . We walked out of Cuyco . Now to the best part of the resort .The staff were AMAZING!!! We incurred an injury to 1 member of our group early on in the week .The staff couldn't have done more to help .From a rushed trip to the hospital with 2 accompanying staff (medical aid (life guard ,name unknown and translator (Roberto)) to a van driver (name unknown)the next day going above and beyond driving us to hell and back to get medical supplies , to staff assisting with all our needs the rest of the week . Our side trips were a hit and miss . The Anton Valley trip is a "skip it " as is the "snorkeling/fishing " trip . Parasailing was fun . The trip ,which for me as a nature enthusiast was A#1 don't miss was the aerial tram and monkey island trip ; Would I suggest this resort .Yes with a few added cautionary notes

This hotel had very nice grounds, pools, dining areas. The room was spacious, clean, and the bathroom was very good. We were glad to have been recommended the ocean view plus (gold bracelet) room in a quiet part of the resort because we like a quiet, relaxing holiday. The other areas of the resort seemed more congested and busier.

We just returned from our vacation and during our time My mom had some health issues - the resort and its staff went above and beyond to accommodate her physical needs. All members of the staff were friendly helpful and accommodating. This is a huge resort and isn’t an easy place to navigate if you have mobility issues. I strongly recommend the upgrade to the gold band- it is well worth the money as it gains you added perks and access to certain pools and restaurants reserved for these upgraded guests

This hotel did many things right...beach, pools, food, etc. BUT, every night the disco blasted out very loud music from 11 pm to 3 am. Everyone complained, got the same answer...we have to have it because we advertise it. Despite the fact that there was no one there. Definitely a consideration if you like quiet and enjoy your sleep.

1 - No Bathroom towels on many days. 2 - Rooms cleaned one day by 11am and then for several days not until late in the afternoon. One day we came back to the room at 4:30pm, the room was not done so at 5:30pm my wife made the beds and tidy up. The maid came in 10 minutes later saw the beds made and left. 3 - Numerous days they had no clean beach towels. 4 - Very disappointed to find out we were sold a vacation package telling us of all the areas we could use only to find out when we arrived that we could not use the complete facility as one area had been delegated for person with silver, gold or platinum wrist bands. 5 - One pool was used every day for a group of vacationer's from France. 6 - Staff who do not speak the English language. If Air Transat wants to bring more people from Canada, then the staff need to at least speak some English. 7 - My wife is allergic to Garlic and wears a medic alert bracelet. We took the time before going to have her allergies translated to Spanish as we have done on numerous vacations in the past only to be told by staff at the buffet's when handed the piece on paper with the translation, NO. End of conversation. At the a la cartes, was even better. In our group was a couple who have been going to this resort fro 10 years and one of the spoke Spanish well enough for the staff to understand. They still could not get one meal for my correct. The most incompetent people I have ever come across. 8 - If this resort only wishes to cater to Colombians then so be it but if yourselves and Air Transat are going to offer and push this resort then the resort's management needs to seriously bring the level of service much higher. This resort is not even a 2 in my mind. 9 - On 2 different days there was no hot water from before 7am and 5:30pm 10 - Our friends were very embarrassed as they have talked up this place for years and to have this service they were also not pleased. Especially since they spend 6 weeks there in the winter. I know for a fact that the 3 couples we were with were not happy with the resort, the food and the service especially with what happen everyday with my wife. We would never recommend this resort to anyone and have been telling our friends who have asked. For the amount we paid, it certainly was not worth it

This was our first visit to a resort so we didn't know what to expect. It is a very clean & well manicured resort. The employees are friendly & very helpful. It holds a lot of people but doesn't feel crowded. There are a variety of swimming pools to choose from, and bars, and restaurants. There was a good variety of food, buffets & served meals. The beach was fabulous. December to April is the dry season & the weather is predicably sunny and 32 degrees C.

The resort itself wasn't great. Towels and getting bottled water was difficult. They do not stock fridge with drinks and you must pay $3 a day for the safe. The rooms were nothing special but very clean. The staff is mostly pleasant however do not understand any English or French. The food was very good and the beach was very nice. The pools are clean and very nice also. I have mixed emotions of the resort as it has a nice feeling to it and we still had a very nice time.

We spent one week at the resort and thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. Our only complaint was the quality of the food at the specialty restaurants. The steak was uneatable due to it's toughness while the chicken in another restaurant was not cooked properly. All the salads were excellent and plenty were available The staff were excellent and maintained a cheerful and helpful attitude at all times. The grounds were in excellent shape despite the dry weather and kept very clean .

We have been to quite a few all inclusive resorts. This is a BIG resort. It is older. Rooms are big and clean. For this menopausal girl, Panama was hot, hot, hot! Not much reprieve from the heat unless you are in the pool or your room. If you want to burn off the calories you are taking in eating and drinking, this is the place. I did not mind the stairs but there are plenty of them.This building was approximately a 10 minute walk from the main lobby. There are 3 lobbies. We were in room 4536 the unlimited wifi was on and off but my neighbors on the floor had no issues. We paid extra for the PLUS package. There are some benefits we enjoyed the private pool and our own bartender ANDRES. The private beach restaurant Kontiki, NOEL and the other server (older with long hair, can't remember her name) were great! You must go down 51 stairs to get to the buffet from my room or go down a long steep road. The food was good but not the best we ever had at a resort. Cab ride to the airport was $5. We rented a van with a driver to go to Panama city for $130, and made up our own schedule! Great long beach to walk! THE REVIEWS MADE ME NERVOUS BUT ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD RESORT THE ROOMS NEED A LITTLE UPDATING.

As a 4 to 5 star resort we were unhappy to see our room to have an empty fridge and no coffee maker. Then we had to pay 30.00 US for a safe key. Every 4 + resort we've been to included these in the package. Stairs.... the resort is on a hill therefore plenty of stairs to climb. 90 steps up and down from our room multiple times a day. I guess its a good workout but I booked to relax and rest my bones. Food was good. Fruit was the best we've had! Staff were uncommunicative. None spoke a lick of English. This resort has its ups and downs. Would not return.

With only 5 minute bus ride to resort, good reception and great selection of food. Excellant kept landscaping.service was good, pools/slides amazing. Great beach and so much to do. Not understanding any complaints. We went on 2 excursions, both exceeded expections. Not sure why there are complaints about this resort. Nothing but positive things to say...Definitely plan to return!

This hotel was huge with lots of stairs which I didn’t mind. The resort was clean well kept with plenty of staff. My husband being a big football fan enjoyed the game on a big screen on the beach. The food was soo good and plenty of selections. There was a language barrier as most of the staff only speak Spanish but we all did our best to understand each other.

This was our second time at the Royal Decameron Panama. We found it very clean and well maintained. Problems were it was not very kid friendly. Food was sub par as well. People were very friendly and staff were great. Hotel needs to invest in more shade umbrellas. The sun is very hot and we felt there were not enough umbrellas for shade. It was tough for the kids to be exposed all day in the sun.

This is the perfect stay if you do not require extra bells & whistles. Yes, a lot of walking (to wear off the food)so bring several comfortable sandals. If you prefer less walking consider purchasing a lower level room. If you have any concerns, go to the Transat desk and they will do everything to try to accommodate you. We were not happy with our 2 double beds, but changed us to a single King bed the same day. A+ Food was pretty good, just not really hot - more like lukewarm unless you got it from the grill. If you need a beach/pool chair, put your towel on at 6am or earlier. They book quickly and there is no resort rule about saving chairs. It was a little confusing about what restaurants are open at what times. It would be helpful if they posted them outside each restaurant. If you're travelling with a group of 6+, consider inquiring about gold bands as they give you more privileges and cost WAY less in Canada than down there in US $. For the average traveller, in my opinion, is not needed.

Wonderful relaxing 4th stay at the hotel..staff were friendly, room very clean and good food. Found the entertainment a little loud but all in all a good time had by all. Would recommend to take a cushion for the beach lounge chairs they are not very comfortable.

This was our 4th trip to this resort. It did not disappoint in the food, accommodation, cleanliness, service or golf. It did however disappoint in the newly created upgraded areas. We lost access to our favorite pool and lobby bar. We were not told of this at the time of booking but found it when we arrived. Had we known, we would have definitely upgraded. To upgrade there, it was outrageously expensive. If we had of done this when we booked, it would have been a fraction of the cost. We did contact our travel agent for assistance and she told us to speak to the Transat representative on site. They were no help either. However, other travel agents made it right for their clients and the upgrade was provided to them. Good for them but not for us. This resort has created some big problems with this new upgrade area. It is highly under utilized and creating over crowding in other areas. Cleanliness is becoming a problem in the pools and lazy river waterways. Will we return for the 5th time? Sadly I am really not sure.

The resort nice, it certainly isn't a luxury resort but certainly a good value. It is Panama and you need to understand that. Have been going for 10 years and so much enjoy it. The golf is great. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

This travel deal is not worth the money. There is a real language barrier unless you speak Spanish . The lodging needs some serious upgrading. One key (an actual key) per room. An extra one is available for $15 but be sure and keep your receipt or no refund! No coffee machines in the rooms and the safes are an additional $3 a day . Housekeeping was satisfactory. The property is beautiful and quite large. Spots in the shade are minimal. The first pool we used was hazy and you couldn't see the bottom.o The food was good.

It was a great vacation. Definately different from the same old same old. Rooms were nice and no musty smells. Food was good and plentiful. Beach was nice and enough pools to please everyone. Not all crowded. Only downfall here was english is hard to come by. Some knowledge of French or spanish for restaurants would benefit for simple things like salt, pepper ketchup. They have it all though. I would definately return. Not meant for people with walking disabilities though. Lots of stairs or very steep roads to go up and down. There are shuttles as well though. There is a little restaurant off the resort and across the road, maybe a five minute walk, called La Fogata, they speak english. I would recommend doing one dinner there. Cost was cheap. $75.00 for what would cost easily over &150.00 at home. Great time was had.

This was my third stay at this hotel. I booked an all inclusive pkg in the past and did the same this time. When I arrived and toured the premises, I was told that areas available to me in the past were no longer available. Supposedly, now I was told that I needed an upgrade to enjoy premises that were included in past visits. When I choose a resort for next year, I will consider going elsewhere.

Beautiful clean and safe beach. Good food no one got sick. Air Transat tried employees tried to help as much as they could but the language difference makes it difficult. Panama is HOT. They have lots of activities, shows, and outdoor movies every day. There are jellyfish in the ocean, my daughter got stung but they were quick to help her.

We went to the Royal Decameron from Dec 19th to the 27th. I have been traveling to Panama regularly for the past 8 years as my aunt and uncle own a villa on the golf course. This year my partner and I decided we would like to stay at the resort over the holidays. It was absolutely amazing. The food was incredible with a great mix of Canadian and Panamanian cousins! Including delicious turkey!! The drinks as always were yummy and cold! The resort was decorated beautifully for the holidays and as always the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. They go above and beyond. The rooms, pools and facilities are super clean and always stocked up unlike other resorts I’ve been to. Even on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when the staff was away from their families they were happy and doing all they could to give the guests the best Christmas possible. I would recommend this resort to anyone!! Unless your a snobby up tight a$$ that treats the employees like hired help and does not tip for the incredible service they provide... please stay home!

well kept, beach was lovely, food very good, customer service a little lacking may have to do with the language barrier. My one complaint would be the walkways and the service vehicles use the same allowance so if a service vehicle comes by you must walk on the grass to get out of way, only option however, signs say to stay off grass. Shared walkway is very scary

We went with another couple this past week. The weather was GORGEOUS! The rooms were good, initially we were in the last villa I want to say 48 maybe 45 but we could hear the disco until 3am so we switched to Villa 34 which was much better. The first room we had, the washroom wasn't all that clean and we had no towels and had to ask for them but Villa 34 was clean, had towels and was cleaned very nice everyday. It's nice to come back to air conditioning and the slight smell of disinfectant, to me thats a huge win. The buffet was really really good! The a-la-cart restaurants were also very good except the sushi one (we like sushi) but the rice was sweet and the flavours of everything was a bit off from what I was expecting. Everything was fresh nothing made us sick. We saved our seats at the pool by 7 everyday because we read that, that is what people do and so we had a shady spot to sit every day. We would go back for sure, I wish we spoke Spanish but most of the staff speak enough english to help you get what you need and all the staff are kind. They drive cars on the sidewalks but they drive slow so you have time to get out of the way lol. Wednesday and Friday there were vendors out to buy suveniers from, the prices are fair and its a pretty good selection there were more vendors on Wednesday than friday but it was Good Friday so that may have been why. All in all we would go back I have never been on a vacation where the weather has been so reliable and the price was very fair.
