The entire experience was almost perfect…spoiled only by a bit of rain. Thought the pools could have been a bit warmer. All dining experiences virtually perfect, and room fully met every expectation. Never a service disappointment. Ocean georgeous, and sandy beach went for miles - no seaweed ever washed up on shore. Going back soon!

We stayed in the Club Section which was close to the pools and the ocean. The room was great-we chose the Ocean View Junior Suite. Concierge service was always available if we needed anything Mini bar was always stocked and we could ask for our preferences. Hendriks at the Club Pool was amazing. Good pool service for drinks. High-quality alcohol at all bars. Crown Royal, was requested for our room and we got it. The wonderful staff is happy to help and not soliciting tips but we were generous with them. Fantastic New Year's Eve Celebration and meal. Paella at the pool was great! Musical Entertainment from 6 to 9 every evening was pleasant. Some of the shows were not high quality except for the magic show and the circus show. Michael Jackson's show never happened for the 2 weeks we were there although it was announced each week. Texas Hold 'em every day was fun. Great variety of restaurants Chez Isabel was my favourite but the service seemed rushed and not as elegant as I would have assumed for a French restaurant. Lots of activities, if you want them Comfortable beds at the pool and the beach and lots of them available Ocean a bit rough and not for everyone. We will return- this was our first trip to this hotel

Stunning beach, lovely super clean facilities and staff were outstanding !! Great selection of food and beverages with no difficulty accessing the a la carte restaurants. Would recommend to friends and family.

The resort is beautiful! There are so many activities to keep you busy throughout the day and the entertainment at night couldn't be better. The rooms are clean, cool, and comfortable. The staff are very friendly. We paid for the Excellence Club and it was worth it. the restaurant, Magna, is phenomenal! We booked an ocean view room which we got but what we didn't know was that these rooms also overlook the private pool which got busy and noisy. I asked for another room and was told that there was a room that overlooked the garden with a partial oceanview . This room was perfect!

The beach was pristine and large in size; the ocean water clear and blue. However the waves were very rough and the red flag up almost everyday. Still so beautiful to sit and enjoy. The pools were clean and it was lovely to have the exclusive Club pools near our rooms. The Junior Suite Club level was very comfortable, modern and ultra clean. The walk in shower was large and very welcoming after a day on the beach. Restaurants were good - Mexican restaurant was fun and the buffet - The Kitchen was a favourite for breakfast. Our only complaint was the "no reservation" policy. Wanting a 7 or 8 pm dinner time resulted in a 60-80-minute line up. No wait at 6 pm but that's a bit early on vacation. The staff, while more reserved than on other Caribbean islands were welcoming and friendly and smiling.

Beautiful resort, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Rooms were clean and well maintained with a fully stocked bar and fridge. Shuttles to and from the airport were well organized and comfortable.

Welcoming and very attentive staff, attention to detail, great entertainment. No wristbands, no reservations for any of the restaurants, premium drinks, beautifully kept grounds - a gem. Downsides: Heavy & dangerous surf on the beach most days. Also, you are a long way from any town or other resorts - approx. 1 hr. from the airport. A great place to relax & chill.

My wife and family have been to a number of resorts in the DominicanRepublic. Although we try not to get our expectations too high I must say that my wife and I, as well as our two adult daughters had a very nice time at this resort. We were pleasantly surprised by all the offerings of this resort. So much so that we have only positive things to say and as a result would highly recommend this resort. Be sure and visit the parrots, they are a hoot! I am a bit sad though that we aren’t able to return to share the experience with our grandchildren, as it is an adults only resort.

The resort was fantastic. Entertainment every day, restaurants and food were great and the staff friendly and courteous. Resort was kept clean and pristine. The only negative were the rip tides but the resort can’t control the ocean!

Almost like Covid doesn’t exist in the resort,airports and transfers. Extremely disappointed with the food in this supposed 5 star resort. We noticed it had declined at Excellence Playa Mujeres as well. Much worse here though as steak in all restaurants is tough and hardly able to cut, let alone eat. Lobster was overcooked and also chewy. Breakfast was always cold unless you had your eggs made to order. Bacon,toast,waffles,pancakes,everything cold at Magna, Lobster house and Kitchen table. Drinks were only good at Magna, for the price of this resort, the drinks and food should be great at ALL restaurants and bars. Especially when upgrading to excellence club. Turndown service happened once in 8 days. Day staff was good and night staff. Entertainment was cheesy at best every night.Totally mislead by all the positive reviews on this place. Time for a real review. This place has basically turned us off from the all inclusive brands. Definitely not worth the money. Sorry, we started coming to Excellence for the top notch food and drinks which are very important to an expensive 5 star holiday. Punta Cana does not compare to Mexico or other Caribbean islands……will not return.

This was our third visit to the Excellence Punta Cana but our first time back since Covid. Staff were awesome- would go out of their way to may your dining and beach experience memorable. Food was very good- especially Chez Isabel restaurant and breakfast at the Magna. Love the natural beach without motorized sports- it was breezy most days so surf was high and great effort to keep seaweed at bay. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary while there and asked our agent to reserve the free anniversary package they offer for us when booking, as well, we mentioned it during check in but we’re very disappointed when the only thing they did was make a heart on our table at dinner- we did not receive anything advertised in their Excellence Club Anniversary Package. Quite the disappointment after spending the money and risking travel during Covid to celebrate such a milestone in our marriage on such a beautiful resort!! We had celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Excellence El Carmen(without the upgrade to Excellence Club) and they had gone out of their way to make it extra special. Covid protocols were great- my husband has some health issues and we were concerned at first about travelling but we felt very safe at the resort and felt comfortable to move about freely without masks. Our luggage was sanitized upon arrival, hand sanitizing everywhere you turn, our room was sanitized and had a seal across the door upon arrival, our room had a convenience kit with face masks and bottle of sanitizer and ‘health stations’ were throughout the resort to replenish if needed. The biggest comfort was knowing the resort had a courtesy suite to isolate in if we did come down with Covid while there and it was free of charge! The buffet had taken some extra measures to reduce guest handling of foods and kept things behind glass where they would serve you and tables were spaced, as well as with Theatre seating for evening entertainment. Happy to report we are home, had a great trip and remain Covid free! Great resort but not true to what they advertise in their anniversary package.

This resort lives up to its name, everything from our room, restaurants, beach and entertainment were Excellent. We celebrated our 25th anniversary and my birthday while there, staff went above and beyond. Special shout out to Victor at the Excellence club beach area and Lizbeth in the club excellence office, the special decorations in our room to celebrate my birthday were beautiful. A big thank you to the Excellence Punta Cana for helping make our trip one to remember!!!! We would also like to thank out travel agent Carol Webber for helping us book our special vacation.

Grounds, hotel and rooms were wonderful Beach was very quiet and great for walking Resort runs along the beach and ocean and is always visible Pools run along the front of the resort and was easy for people to spread out. Great nightly entertainment

Truly a 5 star resort experience. Definitely worth the upgrade to Excellence Club - exclusive beach area, Magna Restaurant & lounge with high end booze. Superb service from the staff with many of them remembering us from 2 years ago! No wrist bands or reservations required for the restaurants. Food is varied & very good, with 7 restaurants open most nights. Our favourites were the Magna & the Grill Steakhouse. Nightly entertainment was good to excellent - our faves were the superb saxophone playing by Alejandro in the Martini Bar, & the Gypsy Kings Tribute band. This is not a good place for swimming in the ocean with high waves & pounding surf over most of the beach area. It is also a good half to three quarters of an hour drive from the airport, so accessing anything offsite requires planning. I recommend this place for older couples who want a mellow experience, chill at the pool or on the beach, eat excellent food & enjoy the entertainment.

Loved the layout of this hotel and the upgrade to Ocean view was definitely worth the price. Particularly liked that there many restaurants to choose from. (as to be expected some were better than others, The Lobster House was surprisingly the one we enjoyed the least.) Oregano and The Grill were our lunch time favourites and Mexican and Spanish were top dinner choices. Rooms were decent, only complaint was that we would have liked sheets changed mid week but overall staff and service were excellent. Property absolutely gorgeous and loved that there were lots of chairs around the pool and beach. Would definitely go back.

We enjoyed this resort very much. The beaches and restaurants are wonderful and belonging to the Club is definitely worth while. Their restaurant is excellent. We definitely would prefer more written info, especially a map of the grounds and restaurant menus. We do not all own cell phones so having to deal with everything online is not convenient. This may prevent us from returning to this resort. Also they need to supply you with more info on what is required to get your PCR test when you first arrive. That way you are prepared with passports, masks, VISA, etc when you go to book your appointment.

The Excellence lives up to its name, with beautiful landscaped gardens, large beach, many pools and restaurants. The Magna restaurant at the Club is the perfect way to start the day, sitting outside and enjoying fresh fruit , French press coffee and a variety of breakfast choices. Be prepared for digital menus only, sometimes irritating to navigate.

Great food, pools and beach area was always so well maintained and clean, friendly staff wearing masks all the time, great restaurants and food was exceptional. Though lunch buffet has been temporarily discontinued due to covid (i think). Room service food is good too. Rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. Entertainment nightly was so fun especially the solo sax player created such an amazing atmosphere most evenings. Evenings can get a bit cooler and a cardigan is a good idea. So well managed. Highly recommend. 5 stars!

Love the fact that the resort is relatively small and parallel to the beach. Ample beach lounge chairs so no need to wake up super early to reserve... There is plenty available all the time. The food is really good and the rooms are spacious and clean. Note to consider: The beach flag is always RED meaning Danger. Therefore, for those hoping to swim in the ocean at your leisure, beware. You can "stand up" in the waves, close the edge of the sand but you can rarely go out and actually swim since the waves are pretty strong and high. This is our 2nd time at this resort and we love it. BUT, this time, I must admit that help and reassurances concerning getting our negative Covid test back in time were not handled with empathy. It was really late coming in. We had found the phone number of the clinic to enquire but the staff at the clinic only spoke Spanish and none of the Desk clerks were willing to take the call and translate for us. We had to wait. Were extremely worried. It finally got resolved but there seemed to have been a sense of "it's not really our problem.

Fantastic resort! The food, the people and the rooms were all very wonderful. Ceaser, part of the excellence club was very helpful and polite. Joendry on the beach always made sure we had what we needed along with all the staff at the resort. We will be back!

We were on our Honeymoon and could of not of had a better resort. The hotel grounds are beautiful and clean. The pool is the amazing and there is no better way to spend the day, then floating down it like a lazy river with a frozen drink in your hand. The rooms are spotless and updated. The food is amazing in every Restaurant from the coffee bar (Aroma), sports bar, and my favorite the Agave (chicken fajitas are amazing) you will not be disappointed, Definitely the best in the Dominican. The nightly entertainment was the icing on the cake. And of course what makes this hotel a 5 star is the service. All the staff treat you like Royalty, they bend over backwards to make sure all your needs are met.

The people are warm and hospitable. The weather and beaches are superb. But the suites are old, outdated. No night tables. We paid extra for the Honeymoon suite. Not a single drawer to store your clothing...no clothing hooks, no towel bars, just holes where they used to be, room service but no tables large enough to hold two plates. The shower was old and flooded immediately, drains clogged. We had to wait an hour between showers to let the water drain. The jacuzzi tub shot out rust and dirt...even after it was repaired several times during our stay.The sofa was covered with a slip cover...something cheap and disgusting. We spent much of our time calling for repairs. Very disappointing.

My wife and I stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana for a week at the end of February 2020. From the time we arrived at the front door it was a first class experience. All the staff were incredibly courteous and helpful. The food was great and the service was excellent even by the pool and on the beach. We had lots of choices for dinner in various restaurants with no reservations required. The entertainment was fantastic with a new show every night. The grounds were clean and extremely well kept and the beach was groomed every day. There were lots of beach umbrellas and lounge chairs to go around which was a pleasant surprise. The beach was beautiful with soft fine sand and lots of palm trees as a backdrop. Our room was clean and well maintained every day. Overall a great experience.

The resort and the staff are amazing. We stayed in an oceanfront with private plunge pool. The room was amazing. The staff were all eager to please and always cheerful. the grounds are beautiful with lots of plants and greenery, there is also a area with trails surrounding ponds which have many different species of birds. Our favorite restaurant was the Tapa (small portions) delicious. We did not have any bad meal experience, they are all delicious and all have their specialties. You can walk for miles on the beach in either direction. We travel every year and this resort is by far at the top of our list for great resorts.

Thanks to our long standing travel agent Kevin we booked a 9 day stay at the Excellence Punta Cana. We have to say that everything from the check in upon arrival, the cleanliness of the room, the food at all of the restaurant as well as the friendliness of the staff made for an amazing stay. The staff never hesitated to go above and beyond to ensure that we always had everything that we needed to make our vacation a great one....service was second to none. I would definitely recommend this resort for couples as well as small groups of friends.

From the time we got there and were met with some bubbly, through the quick and easy check in with Edison until we got on the bus to leave we were pampered, entertained and catered to in a way I have never experienced. Jose lead pool side activities and poker with a style all his own. The shows at night were entertaining. Didn't get names but the bartenders at the lobby/ martini bar were fantastic and always knew what you wanted before you ordered, unless it was your 1st time. Staff at buffet would go the extra mile for you.. My wife liked to have a glass of chocolate milk with her breakfast 1st couple days staff went and searched and found it for her.. After that they had it ready for her every morning. At our pool bar Felix and crew were 6 star. we had a mixologist with use and they ran for different flavored liquors constantly and never disappointed. There was a wedding there while we were there and the Newlyweds told me their experience was fantastic. No fighting for loungers or day beds. No reservations needed so we never had to plan more then 20 mins ahead. we ate at grill twice both times top notch. Lobster house was very good. Did French twice too because it was just so good. A big shout out to Oscar at the spa who made my wife very happy with a vitamin E facial, She said she never felt so good and the truth is she looked5 years younger and so healthy and refreshed. Many people there were returnees and that is because of the awesome staff. Room service, mini bar stockers, cleaning people.. Everyone was just so friendly and accommodating. Only downside is it in the north and if you plan on excursion most are 1-2 hours away. Place is so great you wont want to go any where anyways..lol Danielle Smith at Bedford Tripcentral was there for me when I had questions. I would highly recommend her to anyone going on a trip.

It was the best resort ever in all my trip give this a 10 in all occasions the staff was extremely good and the rooms are all excellent so was the food at the pool bars they got amazing drinks and if they didn't have it they would call and it was there asap they made are holidays so relaxing thanks

Worthwhile to upgrade to Excellence Club - pools, beach service, exclusive restaurant, higher quality booze & amenities. Downsides - Most of the beach not swimable because of nasty surf & undertow.

We just returned from our 3rd trip to Excellence Punta Cana and they did not disappoint. Everything is just kept so clean inside and out. The staff is very friendly and helpful.Special thanks for Reyue in the office for her help with getting our boarding passes and to Melanie who kept our room impeccable.

This resort is beautiful. Not alot of stairs or walking to get from one place to another. Beach is close to hotel as well. The ambiance in the restaurants could be a little more suited to each theme, but the food was great, so nothing to complain about. The best note on this property would have to go the staff. there was not one face that did not have a smile. Staff happy to help in any way they can. If you want it - you get it, fast and trouble free. About 45 min from airport - transfer was simple. Rooms are clean and spacious. We had a great time.

Very clean resort. Grounds were meticulously maintained. Some signs of wear and tear (tiles missing in pool) but overall, okay. Bar, porters and room service were outstanding. Restaurant staff ranged from indifferent to very good. Buffet is limited compared with other similarly rated resorts we've been to. Entertainment was okay but lacked variety (dance moves performed to different music themes gets repetitive). Don't get us wrong, we enjoyed the resort.

The Resort was great .food was good stuff was awesome. The stuff made you feel at home. The grounds were very clean. Never had a hard time to get chairs at the pool or the beach never had one complain about the resort.

The resort was great, the staff, the food and grounds were top notch. I, would highly recommend this resort.The pool and beaches are clean. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Also no reservations required. There is an Ecological park on the grounds with wildlife, it was truly beautiful to walk through every morning.If you are an Ocean person, the water was very rough. This apparently is normal for that area. The live entertainment was also great. Excellence has a little something for everyone, young or old.

We loved our time at Excellence Punta Cana. What an amazing resort. We were in the Excellence Club section and all I can say is wow. From the moment we arrived until our last drink on the beach the service was amazing. Would highly recommend this resort. Above all else I can say there service was great. The restaurants were very good and that you did not have to make a reservation was a nice bonus.

Great weather, super beach, clean and well maintained. We had a wonderful relaxing week. You could find us every evening in the martini bar listening to a very mellow saxophone!! What could be better!

The hotel had excellent grounds that were well maintained. The friendly staff were always trying to please. The food was top notch and lived up to its 5star billing. Plenty of pools to choose from and always a lounger available at the pool and at the beach. The resort is a quieter resort, has a disco but you could truly relax.

This hotel has a very beautiful botanical garden with wild birds, an iguana and fish. Just gorgeous space for a quiet walk. The service and the food is first rate. Our rooms were great with all the expected amenities. We used a daily room service for coffee for convenience and luxury. The games area had all you needed to pass the time away when there was rain, The only thing I would recommend is to bring bug spray as there seems to be very small flies that will get you in the evening as you enjoy the outside. I would also always recommend to use the safe all the time as it is a smart move. Oh and as a final note try not to overeat as you will be tempted by all the great food and drinks. I only wish the common areas were non-smoking with designated smoking areas like the Alelier resort in Cancun.

An adult only resort built parallel to the beach. Many lounge chairs at the beach and pool. No need to reserve early in the morning. Food was delicious. Red wine finally served at room temperature! No weeds at the beach!

We had no complaints about anything and would love to go back. The service, rooms, food, weather, everything was "excellent". The spa was exceptional. The people were the most friendly. When we arrived at the resort Excellence Punta Cana, we were treated like royalty, served a nice, cool champagne and our luggage taken straight to our room. The check in process was brief and complete and we really appreciated that given that we were tired after a delay and a long flight. The following 5 days were heavenly - beautiful, clean beaches, blue, genuine, unwavering service, clear water, very comfortable and clean room, delicious choice of a la carte meal options at delightful restaurants. We wish to thank Jessica for endorsing our choice of the hotel and support through the booking process. It was a delight before, during and after the unforgettable vacation. Unfortunately the delays at both ends of the flights was a damper but the wonderful experience overcame that. Thanks

The hotel was spotless, our room was very clean, the food was fantastic , the staff very friendly and helpful. The beach was also cleaned daily-seaweed etc. Overall an amazing experience and I would highly recommend this resort!!!

Had a great time at Excellence Punta Cana. The friendliest staff we have ever had in many years of travelling. We have been to many of the Sandals Resorts and this was every bit as nice and even better then some. Food was good, many dining options and liked that we did not have to reserve to get into restaurants. Top brand alcohol and wine. My husband liked the sports bar to watch his game and enjoy wings and pizza. My favourite was the French restaurant. We definitely come back here again.Lots of pools to sit buy or at the long stretch of beach, all with padded loungers. Only downside was that you couldn't swim in the ocean as strong undertow. If looking for waterspouts, best to book elsewhere.

Just returned from our 12th trip to all inclusive Excellents.Punta Cana. The service and quality of food and accommodations is still A1. We did notice a smaller number of guests this year. Staff said it was possibly due to the trouble that one resort had earlier in the year. Since we have visited many times the staff remembered us and went out of their to make our stay all that more enjoyable, spoke to a number of first time guest and they all said they would revisit. We will visit again next year, but wii increase our stay from 10 days to 2 weeks. If you are looking for a great holiday, give this resort a try, you won’t be sorry.

Everything from the room, pools, food, staff and service was fantastic. Padded double loungers were awesome to relax on. The pool was wonderful. Beds were so comfy and room service was excellent!! Breakfast and lunch buffets were so great with so many fresh options. The a la carts dinners were all fantastic. We didn’t have a bad meal al week. The tenderloin at The Grill was perfect! We met so many people who return year after year and now we understand why.

The grounds are very well manicured at this hotel and the rooms are very large. We had an ocean view suite and it had a fantastic view with a wraparound deck. The food was great in all of the restaurants although the lobster was a bit overcooked at The Lobster House. The staff work very hard especially Ariel who is a waiter at the pool. He was very attentive and always quick to fill our drink order. The one thing that surprised me at this resort was the pina coladas and daiquiries were made from the slushy machines and not from scratch...these are just too sweet for me. Just would have thought that a resort of this calibre would be serving great mixed drinks. We will definitely be returning for the rooms, lovely beach, service and food.

My husband and I chose this resort for our honeymoon. Upon arrival, we were greeted with champagne and a cold towel. Very refreshing! Our room was even upgraded upon arrival. The room was very spacious, and the resort was very well maintained. Each day there were activities that you could participate in and nightly entertainment. There was also no shortage of food selections- French, Spanish, Asian, Mexican, American Grill, and Mediterranean. All of the dishes were very well presented. A big shout out goes to all of the staff working at the resort. The staff were always ready to cater to your needs. They were very personable and greeted you by name each day. The staff members also did a great job of engaging the hotel guests throughout the day. They were very enthusiastic! We highly recommend this adult only luxury resort. We will certainly return to this resort in years to come!

The facilities and staff were great. The food was disappointing and mediocre at best. Three restaurants open every night, which was fine since there weren't many people around. It's just that the food wasn't great. Perhaps our expectations were too high given they weren't buffets. We thought things could have been better.

Great food, clean, spacious, no need to save chairs in the morning as there was always enough and good evening entertainment. The silent dance party was the best! Recommend the upgrade to the excellence club.

I just returned from a 4 night stay and really enjoyed my time at this resort. The facilities and grounds were incredibly clean, we had no problem finding beach or pool chairs and the staff were wonderfully friendly! My only complaint is that while the bed was super comfy, the pillows were terrible! Food was great, spa was nice, drinks were cold. I’d go back for sure.

This was our second visit to this resort and we found the renovations they did quite nice.Cushioned double lounges around the pool and facing the ocean were the best! A small outside hot tub was appreciated ,very soothing! I was a bit disappointed that the menus were changed but in all fairness it’s because my husband and I are not”foodies” who will try anything so not the resort’s fault.We always found something delicious to eat though.The new larger showers are great and more modern rainhead fixtures are nice but one end is open and with A/C on I was cold!haha.The pool was extended and a swim up bar put in which was great.I highly recommend this resort!

We loved our stay for 10 days at Excellence Punta Cana!!! At first sight, the lobby, pool and main buffet area were beautiful, topped only by the warmth & great service of the entire STAFF. The foods at all the many restaurants including the main buffet was great, our favourite being Chez Isobelle. The landscape & our Garden view room was exquisite and had great sleeps on our comfortable bed.

I won't leave a long-winded review but will say that this was our second time going to this beautiful resort. We booked Excellence Club with private plunge pool and were in building 2. Our room was steps to the Excellence Club pool and we were super close to everything we needed or wanted. The beach is beautiful, yes there was some seaweed but the workers were out there raking it before anyone was usually up and it was well maintained. The water is a little rough and the riptide is definitely something to be cautious of. But we waded into the ocean and bobbed around for awhile and had a lot of fun. The restaurants were all amazing, the food was incredible and even more outstanding was the service. We wanted for absolutely nothing and have no negative thoughts on the resort at all. We will be back for a third visit in the near future!

Staff was very friendly, resort service excellent and grounds impeccable. Swim out rooms are not really swim out rooms in most of the resort. Our swim up was a swim close to the pool/on the same floor as the pool... but not a true swim up. Even with that misleading room information we enjoyed our trip and found that the resort had an amazing beach, great pools and good food.

In the past I visited many resorts situated in Caribbean, Cancune (Mexico). Excellence resort is very good. I like Excellence Punta Cana. Though it is little more expensive, but it deserves. Beach and pool area are very scenic.It was my second visit. This time I was not very happy about their room cleaning service. It would be good if hotel provide also buffet service in the evening. In the evening, vegetarian's have problems as it is hard to get vegetarian dishes. Workers were very polite, humble and helpful. In conclusion, the Excellence Punta Cana is very good resort especially for seniors.

Everything about this place is amazing from food, accommodations, staff, drinks , service, entertainment, beach, pools and activities. This was our second trip here and it was better than last year. We’ve been to the two other Excellence resorts in Mexico several times but we like the layout , beach and pools much better here. There’s always a daybed or lounge chair available at pool or beach. If you want quiet relaxation with top notch staff and service you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic place, great food, service and beautifully kept resort. Very friendly staff. Rooms were very nice and plenty of choses for food. The beaches were very clean and well kept. Best place to stay for sure

The #1 resort that we have been to for quisine and service. The most remarkable food. Jensen, our server in Chez Isabelle restaurant was the best server ever. So funny and so efficient. Anna who serves during the entertainment, very attentive. Really nice. Very clean and well maintained resort. They pay attention to everyone. Room service, walking the resort, to dining they make you feel so comfortable. Great people, awesome holiday. My wife and I went to the spa twice, unbelievable. We never had deep tissue massages like that before. Even in Canada. The beach is so wonderful, close to the pool, never had to worry about saving loungers. Primium liquor, Excellence Punta Cana is top notch for sure. The entertainment is very good. We will be back

The vacation was overall very good to great. Though the surf was a bit rough for swimming, it was mesmerizing to just sit and watch the waves roll in. You can swim if you walk up the beach to the right, where it is more calm. Room was fine, but if I was a hotel room/bathroom designer, I would make several changes. The food was mostly excellent. The staff were all friendly and professional. The availability of shaded palapas and lounge chairs was wonderful- we never had to worry about getting a comfortable spot to enjoy on the beach or around the pools. If we go back, I woukdn’t pay for the Club upgrade because Magna was our least favorite restaurant, and the Club reserved section of the beach was not better than the non-reserved areas and there were more concierge folks at the front desk than at the Club concierge, and the rooms, service and access to the other restaurants was the same.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Excellence Punta Cana. While the room was great and the food good, the staff were the best - very attentive and a real joy to be around. The beach is nice but the water is not calm and there is an undertow. We enjoyed playing in the waves but some may not. The entertainment is better than most we have seen and the entertainment team were engaging but not pushy. In the evenings they had a saxophone player who was sensational and a singer who got everyone up on their feet. Overall a very enjoyable vacation!

I unfortunately did not notice this until we had returned home and were unpacking, but we are missing $30 in cash and about $300 in the loss of my rose-gold bracelets. I am severely dismayed by this fact and have traced it back to the bracelet loss taking place on our last day. We had taken items from the safe as we were packing and ran down for lunch while housekeeping was in our room. I didnt check the items once we returned to the room. I cannot tell you how invasive and disgusting that is. I did some research after that and found over 800 reviews of people who have had items stolen at this resort. Yes, I read the reviews before hand, but they also have over 15000 reviews. Any thoughts I had about the resort prior to this are all gone. I will NEVER return to this resort and plan on telling every person I know about this and my experience. There are so many resorts at the same caliber in PC, chose another one.

Excellence Punta Cana is a great resort; we were there mid-December for 1 week and I highly recommend. The resort is very clean and the people are very friendly and happy to help. Grounds are gorgeous. Rooms are awesome. The beach was full of seaweed which upset some people, but we tend to spend most of our time by the pool. Food was great, though the lobster was overcooked - we're not going for a culinary experience, it's more about the warmth and relaxation. We did the "Excellence Club" and loved it. Some people don't feel it's worth the extra expense, to each their own. We like the added touches. They ask for your room number at the EC pool to ensure you're a part of the club -- the only thing is, they do this in the morning only. So by mid / late afternoon, people who are non-Excellence members make their way over and it's not monitored in the afternoon. There is a bit of a language barrier, but not enough to worry about in my opinion. Highly recommend this resort.

I went to Excellence Punta Cana during December 2018 for 6 days with my boyfriend, both in our mid 20s. It was our first all-inclusive experience, so our expectations were high based on reviews I've read on Trip Advisor. I highly suggest booking through Trip Central as they provide you the full package including support and shuttle service to and from the airport. Upon arrival at the PUJ airport, it took us a bit of time to find our rep since there were a lot of people with names on banners, so make sure you look for your airline rep (i.e. West Jet, Sungwing). They should have your name noted down, and he'll take you to your shuttle bus. We waited for about 10-15 minutes and off we went to stop by a few resorts. EPC was the last stop, so it took about 45 minutes to get to there from the airport. Once we got to EPC hotel, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a debrief on our stay and some hotel policies with a little tour of the resort, and then final stop at our suite. We stayed at the Excellence Club Jr. Suite Swim Up View. Some highlights of the resort: - WiFi across the resort, even in the beach area - Service was amazing; all staff was approachable, friendly, and accommodating - Some good options for food; we enjoyed The Grill and Magna for dinner - Private beach felt exclusive and relaxing - We wanted an hour later check-out, which went smoothly with an Excellence Club perk - Full bottle top shelf liquors was amazing - Room service was fast and easy Some not so great: - Our room AC was terrible, so it made our clothes and sheets damped and humid - Entertainment; the shows felt repetitive after a few nights - Activity options were limited; there was a nice gym, basketball court and tennis court, but the bikes were only available during a certain period of time and the pool activities were also repetitive Overall, an amazing trip and highly recommended for first timers!

It was our second visit to the Dominican Republic and we decided to go with a more expensive hotel, which proved to be a very wise decision. Staff was much more friendly and pleasant. Pretty solid restaurants and beach.

Clean grounds, great weather and not too big so easy to get around. Always chairs available on the beach and by the pools so no need to wake up extra early. Food was just ok and wine/liquors selection was not very good. Coffee shop was the perfect place for a morning latte or ice cream in the afternoon. There was 2 resort cats that would let you pet them especially if you have treats for them.

The resort was beautiful and the food was on point. People on the resort were very friendly and quick with service. I have no complaints to make! I would like to thank Maya from Sunwing for helping us book this unforgettable trip. Thank you!!

I was at Excellence from August 15 to August 25. I was alone there.The first thing I found out is that this resort is not for singles. Great internet access on grounds and rooms even on beach. No buffet restaurant for dinner, you must go to ala-carte restaurant. Some of those restaurants requires dress code and not all are working every day. Service is great and you will be offered drinks everywhere on the pool or beach. But be warned that the staff want tips for the smallest service they offer you. Forget about sleeping in your room after 8 AM. The staff is so laud in the hallways. For this price I found the place to be disappointing experience.

Overall the features of the hotel were good however the food was satisfactory. We appreciated that all of the staff made the effort to speak to us in English making our stay more enjoyable. Two of the bar tenders Kendry and Basilio were very helpful and went the extra mile to make us both feel welcomed and well looked after.

Manicured grounds host a small trail system through ecological gardens with free range wildlife and stocked feeding stations , free for guests. Rooms and common areas are spotless, pool areas are as clean as the day they were installed. Food at all the onsite restaurants was above average service was always with a smile and they bend over backwards to make sure your dining experience is memorable. Service at the 9 on site bars was quick and the drinks were always made well. The beach area was well kept Nd they remove the washed up kelp continuously. Live entertainment at night was enjoyable, as were the special nights with dinners on the beach etc.

Staff were very friendly and hospitable. Rooms, pools, buffets and common areas always very clean. Food was excellent! Lots of different options for dinners, we enjoyed all restaurants! Loved the drinks and servers by the poolside. Would definitely recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about this resort. My best friend and I went for 3 nights to celebrate our 40th birthdays and didn't want to leave. Not nearly long enough. The pools and grounds were immaculate (always staff working and saying hello), staff were so friendly, especially Junior A and Jhonny. Our last night Jhonny made sure we got a table at the Lobster House and that our wine glasses were never empty. We were being treated so well we actually thought he had mistaken us for someone else! All the food at the restaurants was delicious and staff so lovely. We only went to the buffest for breakfast and it was wonderful and lots of choices, so I imagine lunch and dinner was the same. We got a swim up suite which was so worth the extra money. Even with the swim up bar right outside our room it was quiet and tranquil. Guests wanting a more party experience could go to the main pool area. Shows at night were very entertaining. I would go back in a heartbeat!

This was my wife and I 10th all-inclusive vacation. Never once have my wife and I ever said we got to come back to a particular resort except for this one . The Excellence Punta Cana was fantastic, everything from room, beach, staff and especially FOOD! We will go back....

The hotel certainly lived up to its name. The staff were exceptional as was our garden view room: No line ups at the restaurants - most were very very good! The grounds were beautiful.. SMOKING !! everywhere except the restaurants. Pool areas, lounge areas - the evening shows even permitted cigar smoking. There should be designated areas for smokers at the resort and those who wish to indulge can go to those areas while the rest of us can enjoy a smoke free vacation!!

What can I say that has not been said already. This was our first time at the Excellence Punta Cana. We have stayed at the Excellence in Mexico and knew what we should be getting and we were not disappointed. From the time we arrived we were welcomed with open arms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The newly renovated rooms are nice and clean. The food was excellent from the buffet to the restaurants. The beach was fantastic and you could go for walks along the beach without any issues. We were a group of 10 and no matter where we went at night time for our meals they were very accommodating. thanks to the help of Yaritzabel who helped in making this possible. The only drawback was that there were no floaties for the pool. I know this is minor but for a non swimmer it meant that I did not spend to much time in the water. All in all if you have not tried an Excellence please do you will not be disappointed.

Just got back from this beautiful resort last week. I was a little hesitant in going as I have been to Excellence Riviera twice and loved it, except you couldn't get in the water there as there was tons of seaweed, although they kept the beach cleaned up, the water was too dirty for me. Therefore I liked ERC much better. I was concerned after the renovations, that maybe it wouldn't be lush or green enough for me, I like the tropical feel of a resort. I had nothing to worry about, everything was beautiful and pictures do not do this place justice. The food and service was every bit as good as in Mexico. I liked the set up of the martini bar and theatre so much! The only negative things I can think of are, I would have liked a screen door on my patio and I would like to see some live music, out by the pools in the afternoon. Neither of these things would keep me from booking here again.

We visited this resort from April 5-12, 2018 and took advantage of their Excellence Club offering (which we highly recommend since it offers quite a few perks). The property itself is absolutely stunning, with a very wide beach frontage and immaculately kept grounds with lots of amenities. There is never a shortage of towels or beach chairs/palapas. We found a place to sit every day at various times of the day. Through the Excellence Club we had access to a private pool, bar and beach area, as well as an exclusive restaurant called Magna, with a fantastic patio. There is a wide variety of restaurants at the resort and it's nice that you never have to make reservations. The one exception is at the Asian restaurant, Spice, where you do need to reserve a spot if you want to sit around the hibachi grill. This was a fun experience and is highly recommended! We thought the resort food itself was a solid 4 out of 5. It was always good, but rarely did we consider it a "gourmet" experience by North American standards. Our favourite was the Lobster House and we were not as impressed with the French restaurant. Salad bars are lacking the wide variety of ingredients we've seen at other resorts. The buffet restaurant offered excellent custom omelettes and a wide selection of other foods, all of which were very good. We visited the specialty coffee and dessert shop many times and loved it. What makes this resort stand out is the staff and the superior service they offer! Everyone was very friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our vacation. We met many people who are repeat visitors and we can see why. There are also quite a few shops on the property offering a good selection of clothing, jewelry and souvenirs at reasonable prices. We did a shopping excursion organized through Air Transat, but found the prices and selection were no better than on the resort. Considering the long bus ride, it was pretty much a waste of time. The resort's gym has amazing equipment that is new and clean. The yoga class was fun and very relaxing. You can also borrow bicycles or play tennis, pool, ping pong, etc. We visited the disco one night and had a blast. There is no shortage of things to do at the Excellence Punta Cana. As for our Excellence Club room, it was nice but not outstanding. However, the bed was comfortable and everything worked well, and room service was good. All together, we'd definitely recommend this property for those looking for a relaxing holiday complete with all the amenities in beautiful surroundings. Note that the water is quite rough at the beach; conditions were red flagged on several days during our visit. A special thank you to Adan, Danny and Randophi (sp) for the above and beyond service.

From start to finish we had a fabulous vacation! The service, food, cleanliness and location were all superb! We would highly recommend this resort! We never had to wait for seating at the a la cartes and there were plenty of lounge chairs and huts available. Excellence Club is worth the money. The spa was fabulous!

When you're the last one off the bus from the airport you're on edge wondering.... but from the minute you step foot into the lobby you are greeted with champagne and a cooling towel that is just the beginning....the staff is happy and it shows.. anything you ask for they truly try their best to get it for you. The entertainment staff treat you like family.....Marco is #1... The Oregano was our fab breakfast spot.....other than the buffet.... Aroma cafe was our daily afternoon treat...the spa was totally amazing...the hydro therapy a must do......just avoid the parrot enrout e...they attack buttons and all jewellery ....take pictures from a distance. All the restaurants are superb...no reservations required..... very short wait times well worth the wait This being our first adults-only all inclusive Resort we would definitely recommend the Excellence group of hotels We went at high humidity season I would recommend taking a damprid but they do offer dehumidifiers for the room if it is too damp for you... the resort has been newly renovated and all rooms are very spacious and modern.

Absolutely beautiful setting, food was super. Pools and ocean perfect. However, be careful of the room you book. My wife and I booked a Junior Suite with a small pool attached to deck. Requested oceanfront. Our room was at the far end of the resort, looking at the woods, pool was in the shade and only 2' wide as opposed to 6' wide pools In all the other rooms. THE RESORT CLAIMED, they were full and didn't have any other rooms. They gave us a new oceanfront room without a pool, BUT, REFUSED to refund any money for the downgrade. I don't think this the fault of Trip Central, but a suspect business practice on behalf of the resort. Nightly entertainment was also very enjoyable, just be cautious when booking.

We really enjoyed our stay there. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. The restaurants were amazing as was the staff. Everything was exceptional. The shows at night were also very entertaining.

I am a fairly experienced traveller that has stayed at numerous different resorts in the Caribbean and overall I would have to say this was my best experience to date. Overall this resort was quite good, and had above average quality food and resort grounds (compared to like rated resorts) and generally excellent service. There was some areas that could be improved (which I will highlight below), but they are minor in nature. I guess the biggest drawback from the week was the rough waters off the beach. The red flag was the common sight with yellow appearing only very infrequently. I don't know if it was because of the time of year but if you walked half a mile on the beach either direction the waters were much quieter. So if you value swimming in the ocean everyday, you may be disappointed with this resort. My opinion on some of the major categories of the feature of this resort are as follows: Restaurants/food In my opinion, this is one of the strongest features of this resort. The food was excellent everywhere, from the buffet restaurant to the myriad of a la carte and specialty places like the sports bar and coffee/bakery/ice-cream shop. I found the food fresh, tasty, and the variety excellent. Although the steaks at the Grill Restaurant had fairly thin cuts, it was always perfectly cooked and seasoned. The buffet restaurant near the beach had a theme everyday, and we enjoyed taco Monday, as well as BBQ Day (the BBQ ribs were delicious). For Club members, the Magna restaurant offered a la carte breakfast (which we enjoyed everyday), that had fantastic variety and quality. The only minor point of improvement would have been to better label some of the food items at the buffet. Although some stations were labelled, some others for example the Asian cuisine portion was unlabelled. It would have been nice to know the types of sushi and the variety of sauces (that all looked alike). The no reservations required at the al la carte restaurant was awesome! The only reservation required was the Japanese Show Cooking which was done on the same day. We never had a problem getting seating at the restaurants between 6-7 pm, however from 7-9 pm, there was often a wait on the more popular restaurants (ie the French and Lobster House). If there was a wait, we would have a drink at the closest bar and they would come and get us (not unlike waiting at a restaurant at home). I however heard from other guest that they had made reservations by asking some of the staff (there was probably a nice tip involved). There was a rather very pricey wine list available at all restaurants ($15 wine bottle at home was listed for about $80... ouch). The premium drinks for Club members was only available at the Magna Restaurant. It would have been very nice to have it accessible to club members at all the restaurants (especially since they checked you off a list before you ate there, so they knew that you were club). The Resort Grounds Another very strong category for this resort was the beautiful and well maintained grounds. The resort was very well laid out, and the grounds were constantly being maintained. There was a very nice walking/running trail on the inside perimeter of the resort which ran through ponds with wildlife like flamingos, parrots (a red one with quite the personality), and other exotic birds. Beach/Pools There are 2 rather large winding and river like pools in the main area and 2 smaller pools in the club area. I had the opportunity to enjoy all the pools and I liked the quieter nature of the club pools. The main pools had all the water activities and the swim up bar. Overall the pools were nice. One of the hot tubs required some maintenance on the handles (unfortunately a women received a rather nasty black eye from a fall from the loose handle bar leading into the tub). The beach was beautiful and well maintained. We took long walks on the beach everyday and you easily go several miles on either side. One of my favourite features was the variety of lounge/seating options at the beach and pool from regular lounge chairs to very comfy beds under huts and some had adjustable screens. We never had problems finding either beds or lounge chairs at the beach or pool although the screen adjustable ones were scarcer. As stated above the ocean waters were rough throughout the time we were there. I waded in a few times but they were not swimmable. The temperature of the water was perfect however. Resort Rooms We stayed in a club room with ocean views. The room was very nice. The room was clean and updated. The bathroom in particular was fantastic with a rather large shower which offered both rain shower on top and a wand. Counter space was plentiful with 2 sinks and closed in toilet area. The TV had a remarkable amount of channels available, and we ended up watching a few movies late at night. We liked the soaker tub in the room itself (I guess some people found it strange), and there was a lot of little extras that enhanced the experience such as a steaming appliance for cloths, and incense sticks. The mini bar was well stocked with a good variety of items and there was premium bottles available (ie vodka, rum, gin and whiskey). Unfortunately, we enjoy red wine and although the quality at the resort isn't the best, the Club Wine which is Fontera from Chile was certainly drinkable (house quality in my opinion). However we could not get it stocked as part of the mini bar and we could not get a bottle of that brand delivered to the room (only available at club bars and magna). Finally the maid service was excellent. We received "petit four" deserts and towel animals nearly everyday and the room was cleaned very well. As well turn down service was also done, and you would receive the activities list for the next day with a few chocolates. Be careful when you reserve a swim up room as well, some of them where located in shade all day and the water was pretty cold (according to some of the guests we talked to). Bars and Service I think there is nearly 10 bars on site, and we never had to wait and travel long to find a drink. The variety and the quality was quite good. At the sports bar, they had a german beer and some other varieties and the martini bar had some pretty tasty concoctions. Club members were only able to get the premium drinks (Frontera wine, Grey Goose Vodka, etc..) at the club bars near the club pools, the magna lounge, and the Club Lobby area. The service overall from the staff was excellent. They were frequently doing the rounds at the beach and around the pools. I never really felt neglected. Tipping certainly does help but I never felt obliged. I certainly got the impression that the staff at the resort are generally happy people and some of them had been working there 6 years + which is telling. The language ability overall of the staff is pretty much on par with other resorts. Some spoke very fluently in English and others had only rudimentary skills although my Spanish also needs a lot of work. We found the service based at the Magna Restaurant however was just a notch above everywhere else. If they could get the waiters to be able to express themselves a little more about the food they are serving, it would definitely improve the overall service but their skills (less the Magna) was pretty basic in taking your order and providing drinks. I would like to express my thanks to Joana and Viktor at the Magna, Jhon at the Club pool bar, and especially Orlando at the Club Lobby for providing outstanding service and improving our experience. Entertainment and Activities The nightly shows were pretty typical and average for this type of resort. We watched a portion of nearly every show and they were pretty average in quality. I can't say any one of them stood out. The theatre (conveniently located beside the lobby) was always packed and you needed to be there an hour before to get the best seats (ie around 830 pm). At about 9 pm, the only seats available were usually in the back or sides of the theatre. There wasn't really any bad seats however. There was the typical activities and games you would find at other resorts ie aqua aerobics, Spanish lessons, dancing lessons, beach volleyball, darts, variety of beach games. The activities crew were pretty subdued and they rarely hounded you to participate. For most of the time, I was unaware that they were occurring, however I did manage to participate in a few by seeking them out. This was also a great feature of the resort, since I have been to a few that constantly hound you to participate in daily activities. There was also a games area at the resort which included tennis courts, a full basketball court, billiards, ping pong, a very small mini put area, and archery. I only visited the area twice and it was deserted but it appeared well maintained. There is a disco on site, and even though I did not go, I heard the music there was pretty loud ie ear ringing range (not a young crowd which would probably appreciate it more). The Spa onsite was amazing as well. We received the included hydra therapy session which was pretty awesome. It was even better then a couples massage we had received at another resort for over 200 USD. The stores that line the front right side of the resort are very, very pricey, which included souvenir, jewelry, and pharmacy. There was some souvenir shops on either side of the resort on the beach. If you choose to go, go to the left facing the ocean, more variety, and better overall. Overall Overall, I was pretty happy with my stay and I would recommend it to my friends and family knowing what they value in a vacation. I felt the Club upgrade was really worth it. Another couple we met regretted not getting Club after their travel agent told them that it was not worth the extra cost. I think it was worth it, and I would definitely do it again. The resort is about 40 mins away from the airport so definitely not the closest but it was nice to be able to walk on the beach on either side of the resort for about a mile on either side before hitting another resort.

Beautiful Ocean view rooms[with pool views also] with about half of the rooms. Long sandy shoreline especially for a mid size property[around 500 rooms].Doesn't take long times to get anywhere and a nice walk around the resort and beach.Food and service is great at this resort.We had most of our breakfast's at the Lobsters Restaurant [instead of the Buffet] for the excellent service,staff and ocean views[open air].You may be limited to areas you can ocean swim as it was windy there and big waves but was a beautiful view. Lots of lounges around the beach area but the pool ones go faster if it is a windy day. Shows activities, are similar to other resorts[Michael Jackson, theme song dancers, circus show] Disco opens at 11 and is very small,dark and loud so we never went in over 3 checks. Activities are tucked away at the far side of the resort[tennis, basketball, pool, ping-pong, mini golf] but not many there. For young couples looking for a quitter private trip this is a great choice. If your young couples or singes looking for more activities , nightlife etc. I would check out some larger resorts. Shopping at this resort is very expensive[jewelry, clothes] except for the smaller items.

This has got to be our fave all-inclusive resort ever. Grounds immaculate; rooms super clean; food at the a la cartes as good as any 5 star restaurant and loved you didn't need reservations; staff were friendly and very helpful, no request was too big or too small and was handled immediately; there were enough chairs and "umbrellas" for everyone whether at the beach or at the pool; loved that towels were readily available and you didn't need to exchange them. The only suggestion I would make is that they add more places to put away clothes and hang wet towels, bathing suits, etc., in the rooms.

We have been to the Excellence hotels in Mexico 5 times and thought around try something new and this place did not disappoint us! Pros 45 million reno with several upgrades, new rooms, new pool in excellent club, new restaurants and bars We love the layout better than excellence in Mexico as all restaurants in central area and you can walk to everything covered Can see and hear the beach from your pools Top shelf drinks and service at pool and beach Spotless grounds and rooms People go out of their way to make you're stay memorable Entertainment was amazing...singers don't lip sync like at excellence resorts in mexico Cons - this is just my perspective 45 min transfer to hotel Service at restaurants to get your main meal a bit longer than use to Beach is always rough and the week we went Feb 7-14 high winds so even tough to sit on

Our group of four enjoyed every moment of our vacation on this beautiful resort. We enjoyed relaxing and quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and drinks in all restaurants and long walks on a wide sandy beach. During our stay the wind was rather persistent so we avoided swimming in the ocean.

We have been to Punta Cana 5 times and enjoyed this hotel the best. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quiet and relaxed vacation. Room was comfortable (except for a spider!) , food very good. Resort is spaced out so it does not ever seem crowded. Dining rooms very nice. Rode on the beach every day with Fausto - great horses and fun in the surf. Was too windy to swim in front of the resort (could actually surf!) but a short walk up the beach and around the bend, the waves calmed nicely. Staff very nice as well. We will definitely go back ! We were there from Feb 1-8th, 2018.

From the moment I logged onto TripCentral, everything was easy and practical. We had all the information we needed emailed to us, and because we printed the info and kept it in our carry-on, all the travel was quick, from home to resort and back, despite weather (snow) delays. WestJet gave us hotel vouchers for our cancelled flight, and Excellence Punta Cana made sure our stay was my most relaxing vacation ever. My sole curiously, not exactly a concern, is that for the majority of our stay our name was highlighted on their list as "Inc. R" and we were told that it was due to a "problem" in one of the restaurant s, yet no one would tell us what that problem was. I would have liked to understand more. Other than that, we never wanted for anything, because there was always someone happy to help, whether it was a drink, changing funds, making a phone call, anything and everything. Always a lounging chair available and very clean. It is a quieter resort than most that I've seen, but that was exactly what we wanted. The crowd is very mature and relaxed. And the food.... Wow, the food was my favourite part! I would be very happy to repeat this experience.

Good grounds, rough water so the beach area not good for swimming, though clean beach area. Food needs to improve. not much choice and need an evening buffet. Hard to get into the restuarents and hard to reserve too.

Just returned home from a great 10 day vacation at the Punta Cana Excellence Resort. From check in to check out the staff were outstanding with their customer service. The spa is definitely worth a visit and you can be assured that the whole experience will be one to remember. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Clean rooms, excellent dining options and a beach that needs to be seen to truly enjoy its beauty. Recreation staff were upbeat and friendly. Johnathon, Felix, Rosia we’re attentive and made our group feel special. Bartenders and wait staff were also great and knew your drink of choice within the first day. Thank you to Danny, Geoffrey and Juan. This resort offers lots to do, from relaxing to excellent shows at night. They know your name and make you feel at home!

The Excellence Punta Cana has beautiful grounds with lush greenery and flowers.The room was great with a comfortable bed and a large jacuzzi tub. The balcony had a nice view of palm trees and flowers. The bathroom was more than adequate with a large shower and two sinks. The food was very good, a little bland at times, but quality. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Only downfalls were: an unexpected $22 charge for a two minute local call, and the Excellence website lists a 30 minute included horse back ride, which no longer exists. Overall a 4.5 out of five for us!

We had a wonderful week at Excellence Punta Cana. The beach was fantastic, the food and drinks very good and the entertainment was amazing! The Tapas restaurant and the Japanese grill were especially good.The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. They had a lovely Dominican night with bands and food but sadly it was not attended well by the guests. The drink service on the beach was really nice...and the beach BBQ hut had different items every day. Beach beds were very comfortable.

The resort is first class in every way The food was great and the service Excellente We upgraded to Club Class which we enjoyed very much and would recommend to those looking for that extra quiet luxury

On arrival in our swim up room we had a problem with bed bugs. After staff wss called to acknowledge, we were asigned another room in anither building, which was "thoroughly " checked by us and no signs of bed bugs were found (nonetheless, on return home, all suitcases, clothing etc was placed in a 140 degree bed bug killing case, for 2 hours, to ensure no bed bugs made our home, theirs) Food, hospitality, shows, restaurants on site were perfect. There is unfortunately a big language barrier, making it very difficult to communicate needs, wishes etc. Our suggestion on our last stay at Excellence was to have food staff (in restaurants etc) educated on food allergies, which they did and now ask on entry to the many on site restaurants. Unfortunately, regardless of the fact we stressed our allergies to the Excellence restaurant "Chez Isabell" last week (Nov 24 to Dec 01 2017 stay ) my wife and i were both eerved food heavily Laden with nuts, which if my wife wouldnt have noticed, would have hospitalized us both, if we survived the anaphylactic shock. Excellence needs to pay closer attention to such situations (which they were very aware of yet failed to exercise)We now have experienced 4 stays at 2 Excellence properties (Punta Cana and Mexico) and regardless of some issues, we will return !!

Stayed at this resort for the 8th time, Nov. 1 to 11th 2017. This property had been closed during the summer for a major upgrade and facelift. We were the first guests to arrive on the reopening day, Wednesday, Nov.1st. We were greeted by members of the staff and an entertainment group. We had booked our usual standered room, but to our surprise the hotel had upgraded us to the Exclusive Excellents Club. After checking in we were given a tour of the “new” complex, the transformation was absolutely astounding. There were so many changes to mention but it is beautiful. One of the main reasons we like this resort is the layout. The entire complex runs parallel to the beach, so were ever you are accommodated you are only a few steps from the restaurants and the beach. The rooms, restaurants, and entertainment area are top notch. One big change was the relocation of the Exclusive Excellents Club. They have 2 new private pools, each with its own jacuzzi (2) in each pool, also rooms with their own swim up pool. The food is outstanding, and service is there big attraction. I had a chance to talk to the owner at breakfast one morning about the changes and he said they spent about 45 million dollars to bring it up to a more modern facility. This hotel is an adults only, so if you are thinkiing about a vacation in Punta Cana, look at this location, it is a little smaller than most of the new hotels, but it sure beats the long walk in the big properties.

This is a beautiful resort, good food and great staff. We had a Terrace Suite with a plunge pool which was fantastic. All the restaurants were great and we loved that we did not need reservations. The entertainment each night was very good, some were better than others, but the Michael Jackson and Circus shows were great. The beach was great, but the waves are strong all the time so swimming is limited in front of the resort, but if you walk to the right of the resort there is a very calm area. This resort is well worth the money and my wife and I will be back.

Just returned from the Excellence Punta Cana. As per some previous reviews, I would agree that the resort was a bit tired. We had an amazing time and would return if the price was right but I will say it didn't compare to the Excellence in Playa Mujures Mexico. The food was good but not great. Service was good, not great. And even alcohol wasn't top shelf like in Mexico. That being said, the weather was much hotter - which we liked and had more of an island feel that Mexico. Had we not been to the Excellence in Mexico, I'm sure I would have given this resort a 5 star review. But, I can't help but compare and so would rate it 4 stars. They are about to undergo a major renovation in July. We will look forward to returning when that has been completed.

cThis was our third time at Excellence Punta Cana, which shows how much we love it. The grounds, the service (with the one exception noted below), the beach and the food are 'excellente' as the staff would say. We always choose the Excellence Club option, as we enjoy the benefits we get from that offering. This year, we also decided to upgrade to a Master Suite, so we were looking forward to a larger, better room. We were disappointed, however, in the room we were initially assigned which was a ground floor room 7005 directly facing the loud swim up bar. Not sure how this room qualifies as an Excellence Club room as it is very far from Building 10 where the EC lounge is and not in a good location. The concierge in EC was able to move us to a second floor ocean front room in Building 10 the next day, so we were happy but this should not have happened, especially since this was our third time there. Also, I was happy to hear that the resort will close this year to renovate the rooms, as they really need it and really aren't five star. For example, the air conditioning was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on, our two sliding doors didn't lock, the mini fridge was totally broken inside, so every time you opened it, stuff would fall out etc. We're looking forward to updated rooms! My one other comment is with respect to 'reserved' tables in a resort where reservations aren't necessary or allowed. We showed up at the Lobster House for dinner at around 8:00 on our last night (we were a party of 4) and all the outside tables were open. Just as we were speaking to the hostess and asking for a table outside, a large group that had obviously had been there before, burst in giving everyone hugs and obviously slipped the main waiter some money and scored a big table outside, while we were told that they were all reserved for 'special dinners'. I didn't give up and pushed for a table outside, explaining that we had arrived before the large party and wanted to eat outside. They eventually accommodated, but the experience was not good. There should be more transparency around how 'reserved tables' for 'special dinners' work. The last thing you want is to have a confrontation just before dinner!
