From the moment we walked into the lobby, across the bridge over a koi stream and through a small "rain forest" this resort felt welcoming. Our "garden view" room was high enough in the tower that we could see the ocean over the tops of the tallest palms to enjoy the sunsets. While the restaurants did not offer as much variety of food as some other resorts do, the quality of the food was consistently good, the wait staff attentive, and the grill cook great with eggs and omelettes at breakfast. The pool is warmer than most -- although not as warm as the ocean itself during our stay -- and of course the Playa del Palmar is fabulous. The room had a few minor issues, a TV remote that didn't work property, an overly hard king bed, no in-room refridgerator for medical needs, but all were dealt-with immediately by the staff. We enjoyed our week at the Park Royal. It is a pleasant, well-kept property and was perfect for a relaxed getaway from the ice and snow where we live.

The Hotel is older but has been well kept up. The Staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The Food is good in both Buffets. The A La Carte was so so. The bed was very firm so housekeeping put a foam underlay which improved it. The Hallway are very noisy at night when your asleep and people come to their rooms late in the evening. The Live Band playing in the Lobby area are very loud and the sound comes through the Patio Doors.There were lots of Beach Lounge chairs.

We really enjoyed this resort from Feb 1 till Feb 15 2019 , the staff was very friendly and spoke good english we had no problems booking in, exchanging money for small bills i can't say enough about how clean the resort was . Maids were so friendly and the room was spotless every day ,sheets change constantly .The bed were very hard but after 14 days got use to them if i was this resorts owners i would definitely switch to pillow tops i am sure they can afford to upgrade. We never got sick once the food for such a small resort was very good no problems not a great variety, Italian restaurants was very good we ate there a lot . Swim up bar was always full of children but being a family resort and reading review before we left we knew what was mean to be . we had a ton of fun and price value excellent

The hotel is small but offers great ammenities. There are two buffet restaurants and one a la carte. The food is similar to any other resort- ask for bacon during breakfast. The ocean is unsafe for swimming; however, beautiful swimming spots near by. The swim up pool bar and staff are amazing. The rooms are decent, make sure to get an ocean view room. Loved our stay and will be back

My husband and I just returned from Ixtapa Park Royal Feb. 27/18 and had an amazing time! Sunshine, fabulous sunsets, smaller resort which we enjoyed, main buffet for breakfast and dinner plus the Pescador patio or indoor buffet for breakfast and lunch had good variety. Beds were somewhat hard but I had no trouble sleeping. Buffet food was not often hot and while I had some concerns regarding food safe we experienced zero stomach issues. All staff were friendly and helpful, several hosts available ensuring everything was to our liking and telling us to let them know of anything we should require. Italian a la carte excellent food and service. Beautiful beach and premises, pool deck, and washrooms were kept very clean, mopping and tidying constantly. 3-4 star rating. No noise problems, toiletries and face cloths, towels supplied daily Decorated towels a delight, something new and surpring each day

The room was clean, the staff helful and friendly. The food was good, the Italien a la carte restaurant was excellent. Will go back. If the hotel could put more chairs on the beach, that would be excellent.

We recently had a two week vacation at the Park Royal in Ixtapa. We have stayed there twice before and have very much enjoyed ourselves. Staff is amazing, it is clean, food is very, very good and the facility is constantly being upgraded and improved. However, we should have been informed by our Trip Central travel agent, who has 30 plus years experience and should know the ins and outs, that the Park Royal was hosting the SOB (south of the border) volleyball tournament the second week because we would NOT have booked. The resort is smallish with 238 rooms and imagine our shock when 250 loud, invasive volleyball players took over the beach (with 35 nets down the whole length of the beach), the pool, the lounge, the restaurants and everywhere. They were like locust. They failed to realize that all of us had paid to enjoy our vacation....not just them. I checked the Park Royal home page and there was nothing advertised to at least give us the choice if we wanted to book that week. And since this has been a tournament hosted for the past 18 years, our travel agent should have known that and informed us. We loved the first week at the Park Royal but were disappointed in our second week and very disappointed in Trip Central's lack of professionalism.

relaxing....great staff, happiest maid service (always smiling!), wonderful groundskeeper as he went out of his way to show us the lizards and other local wildlife on the resort grounds...excellent service, fabulous margaritas!!!! .... however, did not appreciate the time share people harassing us every day, every morning constantly, to the point we had to be rude after informing them we were not interested!!!! It didn't help that they were located right at the elevator. No way to avoid them. we were pretty well cornered. One of the lady time share people was extremely PUSHY! Even tried booking our group a tour and wanted to charge us an additional one hundred dollars each.

Although this resort was clean and friendly , there were a few issues. Construction for a new ( well needed ) Kids pool was under way which took up a large area where chairs would have been, so the pool area was very cramped. You needed to get up well before 7:00 AM and reserve a chair or you will not get one. Biggest pet peeve would be people would leave their towels on the chairs and then never even show up for the full day. I paid extra for the Ocean view ...huge mistake, what they don't tell you is that you also face the disco club that blasts thumping music until 2:00 AM EVERY night. We moved rooms the second day with a Mountain / partial ocean view,much better from a noise point of view.

The hotel was very clean and friendly staffed. There were a few too many timeshare people all over you. Also on weekends they over sell to locals so it gets packed. The food was good but never hot. Only one buffet and one a la carte. Very lacking in evening entertainment. It was a great holiday though!! Being right in Ixtapa was awesome. I would recommend hotel as long as people know this.

Stayed from December 23 to December 30, 2016. Hotel was quite busy. A lot of kids in the supposed adult only pool, so most of our time was spent on the beach. Food was satisfactory however more variety would have been nice. Would not return to this hotel.

The beds were hard and the bathtub was the size for a child could not fit in it. The tv was the old style 27 in. But the food was ok and the complex in general was very clean excellent service. Especially the one fellow in the moby dick beach bar( Antonio).
