This was my first time staying at a Riu and I would recommend this resort. I’d give the location top marks. Situated in Bloody Bay, this little cove north of Seven Mile Beach was perfect. With only 5 resorts, it was peaceful and the beach and ocean were the best I’ve been to in a while since there was very little sargassum. My only complaint would be the lack of shade - you needed to get up early to get a spot under a tree which was the only shade available. Grateful we prefer the beach since the hotel had three small pools side by each that were only 4’ deep. The staff were great and service was top notch. The food in the buffet started off good but by the end of the week the quality wasn’t there and we ended up sticking to the same food for most of the week. We tried only one à la carte, Italian, which was pretty good. The rooms were nice and the grounds were very clean and well maintained. We’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riu Tropical, beautiful beach. The grounds were well maintained and the staff were all so kind and helpful. The food was really good, many varieties to choose from. Definitely going to return.

There are a few things that could be improved: (1) the food was average at best for a palace resort. The breakfast options were probably the most enjoyable, but for the most part the overall food were consistently the same for all meal times (no theme days or anything like that). The best lunch option was at the Jerk Hut for authentic Jamaican jerk chicken and sides - delicious!; (2) the reservation process for the a la carte restaurants is a bit clunky. Many people complained about it (2 seating times: either 6:30 or 8:15 and they get scooped fast), and sad to say but overall the a la carte restaurants weren’t very good. There were some really good cocktail and mocktail options though! (3) if you’re not an early riser, be prepared to get up pretty early (by 6-6:30am) to find a good spot on the beach - it’s the best place to spend the day! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort because we all have different opinions! Suitable for friends, families and couples alike!

Most of the staff was extraordinary, tu te friends well mainyained except should not spray that bug spray during the day do at night when people are sleeping. Garbage and Bund should be next to each other for dropping off dishes after eating. This hotel was so nice, perfect size. The service was impeccable, the grounds were clean. There weren't any lines at the buffet or at the bars. They had turn down service. The beach was beautiful. The only complaint is the vendors on the beach. They are a bit annoying but respectful. The food was amazing.

From the moment you walk into the reception area you know this place is going to be a great place to stay. The room was clean and spacious, the food at the restaurants and buffet were wonderful with the buffet having a very large selection. The beach was what one expects to find in the tropics, clean white sand and shade to be had under a palm tree. What made this place extra special was the people. The pride they showed in their work and how they were ready to help. Truly an exceptional group.

Everything was wonderful the beach is very nice and spacious, entertaining is amazing surprisingly the buffet was good and the choice of drink menu very good overall highly recommended i would definitely go there again

I was very impressed with Tropical Bay. The service and the food were top notch. The resort isn’t huge but offered everything I would want. Wasn’t a crazy party atmosphere, but that was perfect for me. Plus you can go to the Riu Negril with full access to eat, drink and party if you want. Would highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

We had an amazing week at the RIU. It was nicely designed and laid out. We loved the smaller buildings for our rooms - an amazing view of the Oceanfront - and best when we were post-beach with a in-room bar G&T in hand! One could not find a nicer beach that this one - not even the famous Negril 7-mile beach in our minds. The water was warm, that gorgeous clear turquoise colour, and, even had some starfish to delight us! The facilities were wonderful - clean, fresh, thoughtful, efficient. The variety of bars, including the Coffee Bar (OMG, SO GOOD) were perfect, the pools weremclean and varying degrees of noise and busyness; the main buffet was plentiful and the food was always yummy. We enjoyed the Japanese a la carte and the Steakhouse - both got two thumbs up from us. (note, the portions were BIG which not all resorts do, and, truly, we could have easily shared one of our Japanese apps!) The staff were the true gems of the week I think...and I would encourage guests to partake in all of the amazing entertainment that was on offer. From the activation team (OMG, they don't get much sleep and give it everything they have to great results!) to the servers, bar staff, housekeeping, front desk, gift shop, spa team, and the ground keepers - there were always smiles, small chat, and, they remembered us. It made it all just that much more special. We partook in the white party at the RIU next door, learned about Jamaica's history during a day time session, and were surprised and absolutely shocked by how much we loved the silent disco (seriously, SO MUCH FUN!). We are already planning our return next year and, if I had to find one complaint...I'd say it was having to leave. Truly, it was that great (note: it was not at max capacity our week I don't think...but I do not believe you'd be fighting for chairs by the water or pool or in the buffet...it truly is a great resort!

My family and I just got back from this wonderful resort. We loved it! I have 2 teenaged girls. The beach was incredible, food was good, evening activities on point, and the staff were lovely. Nothing to complain about - except: when we checked-in we were told that the restaurants were fully booked for the next 3 nights. We were only there for 6 nights, so this meant eating at the buffet ALOT! The buffet was good, but part of the fun is going to the restaurants on a resort and we found this annoying. When we spoke to management about this they told us the restaurants were small and acknowledged that this was an issue guests often faced. The resort needs to fix this. Overall wonderful experience though.

The resort has been newly renovated. The beach is great, very calm. Rooms are good, food is amazing and the staff is very attentive. I highly recommend this hotel. Just make sure to put some insect repellent if you are going to the beach after rain, especially after 4 pm. Those low flying tiny insects are vicious.

The resort is beautiful! The renovations to the rooms, buffet area, etc. are lovely. Beach/ocean are a 10! Food is good and lots of variety. The hour and a half drive from the airport is worth it!!

The beach was really nice and the water was great for swimming. The hotel has 3 tiny pools and they are a major disappointment. The food is really good however the staff can come off as rude . The hotel staff needs customer service training asap. They are not unfriendly however they could really use some training. The bar staff also needs training and they would not make eye contact and you feel like you are bothering them when you ask for a drink.. and I hardly drink. This hotel caters to the American crowd. Do NOT book the Nexus snorkel excursion. The reef is dead and there is no fish. They take you to Margaritaville and Rick Cafe to spend money . The music along the way is all hip hop

The resort is clean and well organized. We enjoyed the live shows and all the a la cart restaurants. What attracted us to this resort was the white sandy beach and the spectacular sunsets. Hope to see you next year.

The grounds were well kept, beautiful sandy beach, staff always available for service. Drinks and the food were amazing. The rooms were clean and maintained well. Bathroom were quite modern. The dining room staff always had a table set and ready. We were a group of twenty. A variety of places to relax and have a drink . Entertainment in the evening with music and activities for the children.I enjoyed my stay. I will return.

The resort and our room was clean, food was great, beach was amazing, staff incredible and took care of anything we asked. A great destination for anyone. The daily jerk chicken hut is always a treat. Plenty of a la carte restaurants and the buffet has something for everyone.

We were there April 2nd to 9th, 2024 & enjoyed the many amenities offered! The grounds are very clean and our room was lovely, clean and quiet. The beach was amazing. The entertainment was very good and the programs during the day were a lot of fun. I did the aqua-fit numerous times and we participated in other events (kayak competition, which was a hoot, & karaoke, which was a lot of fun too). The main food was very good, however, the major complaint I have is there were almost zero gluten free options for me!! There were no cookies, not a muffin, not a piece of toast, no desserts at all (other than fruit which I eat every day at home), no jello, no gluten-free ice cream, no pasta, no banana bread, nothing in the vast massive dessert buffet at all!! It was really sad! The ONLY thing they had was a mcmuffin-type thing for an egg-mcmuffin, but I had to hunt them down daily, get it from someone, have it grilled and by then, the people I was with had finished eating. It was a disaster, and I was embarrassed & humiliated asking for my needs to be somewhat met. The head chef, who was there one of the days (day 6 for us, I think) had me in tears over his treatment and my nerve saying it was lacking in GF options and making excuses for himself. I'd rate the experience as a 1 overall because of this. All other resorts and cruises we have been on, cared, had many options and made me feel they were happy to take care of my needs and others with allergies, in exchange for the big money we paid to be there. Not the Riu tho.

Everything about this Riu is top notch from staff , restaurants , buffet and beach. The resort is clean and rooms beautiful , who eats lobster 4 times out of 7 !!! Beef tenderloin was also top notch. We will come here again.

The beach is beautiful, and there are lots of loungers in the shade. There is no need to wake up at 6:00am, to hunt for them. The food at the buffet, is the best we have ever had anywhere! I love the Jamaican choices, and the international variety. The servers and chefs are so lovely, and helpful. They work so incredibly hard but are also so cheerful, and proud of their efforts! One bartender named Gray, went and got me Ting, ( a Jamaican grapefruit drink), when I mentioned it was available last Christmas, and was disappointed that I could not have it this holiday. I believe he went to the store himself, and purchased it. This is 5 star service! We loved the laughter at the bar, with all the bartenders, who are obviously good friends, this makes a warm and fun experience for everyone:) I had one complaint, which I voiced to the manager… The lights in the ladies washroom, were on an energy time saver. The problem was, they would go out after about 15 seconds, and the whole bathroom was pitch black. The next day after dinner, when I used the ladies room, the problem was corrected. We met lots of wonderful guests from all over the world, who we enjoyed getting to know very much. This is a very lovely beach resort, suitable for couples, friends, or families. It has a gentle, calm and welcoming atmosphere for all.

Beyond my expectations 5*****… I have never been to a resort where I would go back and RIU Palace Tropical in Negril is it! The staff are so wonderful and friendly. The entertainment staff was fantastic.. the food was delicious. The room was great, clean and large. The beach was beautiful! Can hardly wait to go back.

This resort is absolutely beautiful! From the impeccable grounds to the delicious food served at the buffet and at the a la carte restaurants. We stayed in an ocean view junior suite . Waking up to the sounds of the pristine waters and admiring the sunsets in the evenings was breathtaking(most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen). The best part of our vacation was the beach. Spent hours on end in the clear warm ocean waters. The staff are all so very friendly. A shout out to Christopher for organizing our catamaran trip to Rick's Cafe and to Sharon who makes the best tropical drinks and serves the best cheesecake at the daiquiri bar. I will miss you guys :)

The beach is amazing. The food and drinks were the best I've had at a resort. The resort is clean and newly renovated. The staff are friendly and helpful. The resort is not huge like others, and my senior parents could get around easily.

The location of resort is amazing , very nice beach and Tiffany color sea, there is a great local public restaurant 2 min walking serving lobsters . Regarding resort - my first impression was good , one of the perks - you can get a free coconuts that grow right on the trees in the resiort , their restaurants are amazing , especially wow to the one that has a purple colour - don’t remember the name . Buuuuut - my phone was STOLEN, my daughter left the phone in the main cafeteria - I got back 2 min later , it was just gone -they said they will do investigation, but no one even got back to me with updates , also forgot my shoes in the room - sent the email to see if they saw it , and no of course - shows were stolen . And the biggest thing - my husband and my son were bitten by something , new bites eoykd appear on their skin every morning , I bilieve it’s bad bugs , and pray we didn’t bring any to the house . Loved negrill loved Jamaican people - but will never return to this hotel will not recommend to my friends , another thing we saw a cockroaches in our room

Very modern resort with an amazing beach. Very well planned layout. All rooms close to everything. Food is very good with a huge selection ... very large buffet. 2 hour transfer from airport is worth it. Staff are as good as it gets. 10 & 13 year old grandsons had an amazing time too.

We arrived at airport at 3:30 , we left airport on bus at 5:45 , bus broke down . Arrival at resort 9 pm My first impression , no flowers to wow hotel front entrance on arrival. First impression is the best . We were greeted with a punch with rum in an orange juice glass. Perhaps a champagne glass would have been more impressive. The resort beautiful , rooms beautiful . Pillows less than desirable. Flat The view from balcony ocean view absolutely great. Food great great great. Entertainment was good , bands and water synchronized swimmers Ect. I really liked this hotel.

The Resort is well laid out, excellent services and even more attentive staff. If you have high expectations for a 5 star resort, this is the place to go. Room was clean, no maintenance issues, cleaners were helpful and ready to help with any cleaning request. The beach is really great, there are lots of palm trees to relax under, the beach waiters are hard working and are quick to make sure your enjoying yourself. All in all this is a place I would go back to.

The resort was absolutely beautiful. The rooms and hotel were kept clean. Staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. Beach is stunning, clear calm water. Food was excellent! The only downside is you have to stand in line to get in the a la carte restaurants. They should allow you to make a reservation. I would definitely recommend this resort.

The hotel was great - recently updated, clean and comfortable with good facilities and an amazing beach. The hotel has the best location on the beach - gentle slope into the sea, no seaweed or rocks. All of the staff were great - very friendly and helpful, from arrival to departure - reception, bars, restaurants, housekeeping, gardeners, etc. Special recognition goes to the buffet restaurant staff - they were excellent, and very accommodating of my serious food allergies. Every meal, the head chef or his staff walked with me through the buffet, confirming which foods were safe or should be avoided, and if needed staff would prepare a special dish for me. Only downside is the long drive from the airport - but well worth it for the beach (best in Jamaica, by far).

Everything were great about the resort, very good, well maintained property, clean and spacious room, exceptional service, food was very good, Italian restaurant was delicious, and what is most important for us, beautiful beach, clean calm water. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort.

This resort was most excellent of all resorts we have stayed at in Jamaica. The resort staff from the front desk to the gardners provide above average service to ensure your stay is memorable and your vacation is fantastic. The only areas of concern I thought needed improvement are the following. 1. The beach lounge chairs and tables should be cleaned regularly. A pressure washer could help with this. 2. The servers at the beach should be more frequant and stop to ask guests if they need anything. 3. Bartenders should be more friendly, and make their drinks more consistant. In the 2 weeks I was there i did not get one drink that tasted the same even if I ordered the same drink at the same bar by a different bartender. On a scale from one to ten with ten being the best, I rate the following services and experience. 1. Front desk staff . 10 2. Resort cleanliness . 10 3. House cleaning . 10 4. Replenishment of my fridge .9 we lacked coffee on a few occasions 5. Entertainment staff . 10 6 service by waiters at the beach, in the lounges. 6 6. Buffet servers . 8. We found that there was competition from staff to get guests to sit at their designated area. Maybe the resort should consider reviewing how tips are shared to avoid guests miscomfort. 7. Buffet staff who cook. 10 8. Grounds staff and gardners. 10 9. Beach locals and vendors 10 10. Room service 7. Needs improvement here. Had one no show, and had to plead with staff to get a pot of coffee. 11. Beach towels staff . 10 12. Bell hop . 10 13. Security 10 14. Recreational staff and service . 10 15. A la carte. 8. Room for improvement here but otherwise it works. I did not like waiting in line to reserve a sitting and they let everyone in all at once which does not provide the option for staff to provide the best a la carte dinning experience. A 30 minute seating interval with reservation option using the riu app should be considered I would say all staff are professional and do go out of their way to provide you services and make your stay the best. For us it was and will definantly return to this resort. For me my highlight was the beach vendors, our room cleanliness "Nicole" and bar/icebox guy "Richard" Buffet servers, "Diana, Deamen, Denise, and of course "Natalie". Beautiful clear water, sandy beach, 3 separate pools, great buffet, specialty restaurants were good with the exception of the Japanese one, rooms were large and recently renovated. Distance from airport is the only down side. Paid for Club Mobay and private transportation on our arrival and well worth it. Didn’t require either for trip back. Sunwing Elite was also very useful at both airports for avoiding long checkin lines. Wud definitely visit this resort again. Been a Riu customer for 22+ years. They never disappoint/

This resort easily has the BEST beach in the area! The water is incredibly clear with absolutely no seagrass anywhere (further down the beach in both directions, we saw some, but nothing at this resort) The grounds are immaculate, the rooms very clean, the food is excellent, and all the staff are super friendly. (I just wish they didn’t have to wear masks all the time, so we could see their friendly smiles!) There is not a single thing I would complain about. Easily the best resort we’ve been to in all our travels!

We spent 2 weeks at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay during Christmas and loved the resort. The staff were attentive and very friendly, it was a pleasure getting to know some of them. The pool area, restaurants and all the common areas were very clean. The food was also excellent. I can't wait to go back and would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a quieter family resort.

The hotel was very nice , clean. Staff was amazing. Wish there were little huts outside resort close for a beer etc !! All in all grt time !! Beds were comfortable , beer was very cold and so was AC. Found it damp down there but think that’s just in the islands anyhow.

Grounds are beautifully manicured , food was amazing , beach kept very clean , entertainment crew are amazing especially peanut, buttercup and black thunder, the only negative for me was the a la carts were too small ( very limited space) in each one

We had a 2-week stay at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return to this gorgeous resort. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The staff were very accommodating - they went above and beyond to meet all our needs. They were very friendly, professional and a joy to be around. Doctor "C" made our trip so enjoyable. The new management is a real asset- they are extremely interested in what the tourists want and need to make their vacation pleasurable. The added musicians/artists in the main dining area is incredible. Nice to see them have the opportunity to entertain the tourists. Can't wait to return next year. Give them an excellent review for sure.

Loved every minute of my airport to airport experience . This was a taste of heaven , best vacation spot of them all and I would definitely travel back to Jamaica . I have seen the world but if I had to describe Eden, this would be the picture painted by my words

We wanted a smaller but newer resort. The service was excellent. Sunset was the best in the world Tours were so cultural pleasing , and local food was a taste of heritage well served Only down fall to me personally was there is no local casino to spend the rest of my money

Our stay at the Riu Palace was great. We were impressed by the recently renovated rooms. We had our dinners primarily at the buffet. The selection of food was good, however we occasionally found it to be lukewarm. The beach at this location is spectacular. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Overall, a very enjoyable vacation!

Everything was excellent, as is to be expected at Riu. The resort is clean and well laid-out. The staff was friendly, caring, polite and hard working. The room was very good and well located. The staff accommodated my wife's wheelchair at all locations. The food was very, very, good.

We've been to RIU Tropical Bay in Negril a number of times and we love it! They did a great job with the renos. The rooms are clean and spacious. Balconies offer a great view as they are surrounded by glass so when you're sitting down, your view is not obstructed. The beach is perfect...nice and sandy. Guests are not packed in like sardines. There are plenty of lawn chairs and ample room. The water is typically like a bath. At about 5ish, the star fish make an appearance. It's just beautiful. Negril Bay (formerly called Bloody Bay) is truly a piece of heaven. Food at the RIU is very good. Whether you choose an A la Carte restaurant or go to the buffet, you won't be disappointed. Best of all, you don't have to waste your time making reservations. It's first come, first served. If it's busy, sit down, have a drink...relax...your wait time will not be too long. And...you have to try the Jerk Hut...best food ever. Wish my chicken could be this good! Staff at the RIU work hard and are so pleasant. Even though it's an all inclusive, we like to tip well. We also come with lots of gifts for the cleaning staff. It's much appreciated. There was a wedding one evening and the whole set up looked so magical. Looked like a great time was had by all. To get to this resort, we always use personal transport (Island Tranfers). The bus tends to leave late and always stops midway. After a long time travelling, we just want to get to the hotel. Can't wait to go back. Always hate to see that trip end...that's my only negative. Try it out. You won't be disappointed.

This resort was highly recommended from a friend and it truly did not disappoint. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent with a great variety of choices, the room was spotless every day and everything around the resort was neat and tidy. Without exception we will be returning to Riu Palace Tropical Bay.

Resort is newly renovated and very clean. Beach is beautiful with lots of chairs. Pools are okay but often crowded with kids. Rooms are a good size with nice modern bathroom. Bars are great and have an extensive drink menu. Coffee bar in lobby and 24 hour snack bar are nice touches. Food was surprisingly good for an all inclusive. Jerk Hut on beach, Japanese restaurant and the buffet were favourites. Staff were really good and went out of their way for you. I would go to this resort again but not with Sunwing Vacations. The rep at the resort was unhelpful to the point of being rude, online check-in for the flights was non existent and our flight was delayed by 2 hours which meant we had to spend 5 hours at the Montego Bay airport.

Resort was beautiful- Beach was gorgeous and warm, sandy bottom, Although had jellyfish lots in our party were stung. Food was amazing. No complaints. Didn’t crave anything. Italian restaurant could’ve had better options. Rooms great. Spacious, clean, comfy beds. Love the two-part shower (regular handle and rain style). Very touristy - many vendors on the beach and lots of water activities (parasailing, fishing boats, bar boat etc) too busy- not quiet and relaxing. But still beautiful. Need more public bathrooms at resort. Too far from beach and pool. Although they were kept spotless. Servers in main restaurant were great and remembered us and what we liked to drink. Very welcoming. Shows were ok. Some great- the African show not good, the dating show hilarious! Reggae and the Rock show was good too. After dinner music boring - should be more exciting rather than put you to sleep. Should be better and FRESHER snack bar food at 24hr place. Animation team great! Spotlight was fantastic at pool for entertaining / band that tune and hosting games.

I loved everything about this resort! The staff, the food, everything was amazing. I highly recommend this resort. I can not wait to return. The best service we have ever received. Ever!! Cannot say enough good things about this property.

Attended a destination wedding which was wonderful, the resort did a great job. The grounds were immaculate and rooms were very clean. Actually the whole resort was very clean including the public washrooms, it was very impressive. Loved the 24 hour snack bar which included hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, nachos, pastries, fruit, beer, coffee, tea, juice, pop and fresh popped popcorn which I ate everyday!!!!! The Jerk Hut on the beach for lunch was fabulous and loved eating on the beach. Buffet had tons of options and could satisfy all. We traveled with a vegetarian and he was satisfied at every meal. Entertainment was great and the beach was the best on Bloody Bay. My only complaint would be our room. It was at the back of building 2 on the ground floor close to the road and beside a utility room that was used by staff so it was very noisy and had a sewer smell. We were surprised we had such a bad room considering we were one of the first to book months ago where people who booked later had fabulous rooms. Other than that we loved every minute of our vacation.

This hotel was excellent. Room, service, amenities, cleanliness, and food. Couldn't ask for better. Normally I would try to avoid the large buffet style restaurants, and eat at the smaller specialty dining places, but Riu Palace's buffets are amazing. Attended my daughter's beach wedding, which was organized by the hotel. It was perfect. A wonderful experience was had by all. Thank you for recommending this facility.

The grounds were kept beautifully. Housekeeping very good. Overall hospitality was very good.Jamaica is a beautiful island with beautiful culture..As for the value...For a single traveller I did not find great value in this package. Had it been 7nghts my rating would of been different .

Let's start off by saying an extra special thanks to Shameela who treated us like royalty from the minute we arrived. She personally took my bags and wouldn't allow me to lift anything. When she was checking us in gave us a room upgrade because it was our 10th anniversary. Not only did she stop there but arranged a beautiful dinner at the Krystal restaurant for our actual anniversary day. We want to personally say thank to Shameela and the staff at Krystal for making our anniversary memorable and special. This hotel is kept immaculate and the rooms are very nicely decorated and kept very clean. The beach was also very beautiful with lots of beds available to just relax. We met some very special people who also helped to make our stay pleasurable. Special thanks to Sherean and Kacy Ann and who took care of us at the Cappuccino bar, Krefton who took care of us at the buffet for dinner, Nick and Juliann who took care of us at the Steakhouse, and Mary who took care of us while watching the evening entertainment and Kaydee Ann. When your on vacation and you are taken care of by staff that are pleasant and treat you well it makes a huge difference. Thank you for making our 10th anniversary a trip we will never forget. Looking forward to returning again soon.

We were very impressed with this hotel. Everything was so convenient with many amenities. Food was very good quality, and we especially enjoyed the jerk chicken place on the beach for lunch. The beach was truly amazing...so clear and calm. It was like being a pool! Will be going back for sure!

The hotel was very clean,the grounds were clean and well maintained. The food was delicious and the workers were very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Twain and Travere working in main dining room,thanks for your excellent service.

The hotel grounds were fantastic! Everything was layed out perfectly with entertainment/bars/pools/restaurants all in the center of the resort. Loved that our walk from our room (1102) to the beach was less than 2 minutes and less than 4 minutes walk got us to the buffet. The staff was great and always accomodated whatever it was that we needed. Loved having our coffee after meals in the lobby cafe/bar. The beach was very clean and there were always beach chairs available. We spent the entire week on the beach and never got to the pools but the pools looked clean and were well maintained. Lot's of great entertainment at the pools during the day as well! We had an excellent waiter who would bring us drinks on the hour to our beach chairs during the day! Room service was quick and easy to access. You would never want for anything there! The buffet food was great and had lots of selection. We walked up and down the 2 miles of Bloody Bay almost daily and enjoyed meeting different vendors along the beach. We did walk over to the Riu Negril resort as well but when we realized that their lunch buffet was outdoors (on an extremely hot day) we turned around and went back to the Air Conditioned buffet at ours. Although this resort is an hour and a half away from Montego Bay, it was well worth the long drive to this beautiful oasis. My fiance and I are considering returning next year for our honeymoon!

We stayed here for 10 days and it was a amazing vacation. From the fast easy check in, front desk was awesome. Our room was oceanfront and so beautiful, the view was beautiful, it is worth the extra money for oceanfront room. The food was so good st the buffet that we didn’t bother with the other restaurants. The staff were so great they took care of us and by the end of our stay they always had our table ready with extra touches, like hot sauce and flowers! The beach is one of the nicest I’ve been on. Can’t wait to return to this resort!

We were very happy with this resort. It was immaculate, even the public washrooms. The a la cartes restaurants were easy to get into and delicious, a couple of times we had to wait for the 8 o’clock seating but that was fine with us. The buffet was just ok. The drinks were delicious and not a long wait to get one. The beach and sunset was amazing. They didn’t have any cabanas so you had to find a palm tree to pull your lounger over too to get some shade. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay here and would come back again.

Rooms were nice and clean. My bed was hard though. Service exceptional and the activities people worked really hard to get involvement from the guests. Drinks were really good and seemed to have everything I asked for. Entertainment was all Jamaican music and dance. Could open this up a bit, maybe do skits or something a little different twice a week. No problem finding a chair in the sun or under a tree on the beach. You can walk up to the other RIU along the beach and have a drink free. You could have a small bus to take people down to seven mile beach at certain times and pick up times. That would be lovely as there are a few bars along there including Drifters. Enjoyed and plan to return.u

The resort was amazingl as always it’s our second time there. The food, service, beach exceptional. And everyone super friendly... Mario had our table for breakfast and lunch ready as soon as we walked in. Thank you Riu 5*

We had a wonderful time at the Riu Palace. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. Very clean rooms and grounds. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and all a la carte restaurants. Beautiful beach and not crowded.

We had book 2 rooms - they gave 2 rooms with sewage smell especially when air condition was on. The cleaning lady and luggage porter have to admit these rooms in building 1 stinks. They moved us to 2nd room at 2 am in the morning. 2nd room by the highway - so noisy with cars driving all the time. Don’t go to building 0 or building 1. Front desk took too long to return calls. We had to request to upgrade to ocean view rooms to get away from the smell and the noises. Unfortunately, ocean room had bed bug. Rooms are not acceptable for guests to live in. They should have Ensure facilities in acceptable conditon before releasing to guests. And I thought this was a 4 1/2 star hotel??? So U can image how vacation went.:( We spoke to manager, they apologized but couldnt compensate anything. At other resorts, they went extra miles to please guests- like repaid with bottle wines or waves upgrade room fee - here nothing!!! The hotel’s entertainment was so boring. Had 3 small pools but one closed down for maintenance. We spent most time at beach. Beach is beautiful, but pool is poor. Hotel had no music during day time and hardly any active entertainment, except at night. No night life either. Bar tender (ladies) not friendly at all. Tipping in US$ not much appreciated - not sure the amount they expected? They were relunctant to make drinks for us too, even though we are not a drinker. We order cocktails and tip them Almost every time they brought to us - but they don’t seem to appreciat - looks grumpy - especially the ladies. The men have a bit more sense of humours. There are 2 riu the one adult side more expensive and the teens side cheaper and have more life than the adult side. We stayed at the Adult side:( Overall I would not recommend this hotel unless management and people’s attitude changed. They need to have more upbeat entertainment to enlighten families and kids and definitely more friendly services!!!. Maybe people here work too many hours cause I saw same people all the time ( eg no rotation of shift, to get fresh service). To be fair, there were exceptional waiters and male bartenders ( eg like Adane - he is really nice bartender at the main bar). They need more of his type of personality. Also, only good part was beautiful calm beach ( if u like the calm part) - pools too small thus hardly anyone use them.

We loved the Riu Palace. Incredible staff, the grounds and our balcony view were beautiful. The amazing beach was maintained daily and the water was crystal clear. There were starfish to see while snorkelling, in addition to the odd fish and rare stingrays. Having been to many all inclusive resorts we were extremely impressed with the a la cartes; however, the buffet was the very best of any we have had in the past. We very much appreciated seeing guitarists perform on site. The gym was well equipped and I actually went there three times...:-) Our main concern was the lost vacation time. We lost our whole day flying and bussing getting to the resort and on the way back was worse. Sunwing needs to have returning flights leave resorts later as we totally missed our last day. We got picked up at 9 a.m. and flew out at 2 p.m. Also more flights from Ottawa are needed so we would not have to drive to Montreal. The hotel staff was slow on repairs as our toilet seat was broken when we arrived and although I made daily calls to have it repaired it was still not fixed when we left. There was one security issue I had to report to Chris, the resort security officer. In my absence, one of the para sailing vendors on the beach made extremely inappropriate comments to my spouse as she was trying to sunbathe. When I got back from my scuba diving I could see she was upset about something. She told me what happened and you can imagine my first reaction but he had disappeared. This incident was extremely disconcerting for her as one could imagine. Notwithstanding the above, the resort was fantastic, food, beach, entertainers, water, and staff were the best. In the event you want to taxi to Rick's cafe or Margaritaville be sure to ask for Paul at the lobby taxi stand. Tell them Larry the guitar guy sent you. Enjoy Riu Palace.

The hotel is fantastic after the reno's. Staff are wonderful. Grounds kept very clean Food quality has slipped a little since last year. Not as much selection but tastes very good. I don't feel the management treats the staff as well as they should

The resort was clean, great food and very nice, fun helpful Hardworking Staff . If I had to make suggestions on how to improve here they are. 1. Sunwing planes are way too small , not sure could handle that again even with purchasing seats with extra leg room. 2. Why are there not more garbage cans on the beaches? 3. The resort has one set of bathrooms on lower level that serve all pool and beach goers they also serve all the restaurants . 4. There should be elevators or dumb waiters to take luggage up to the top floors. Each morning we heard people leaving very early to catch buses for the airport and luggage being dragged down hallways and stairs. Woken up at 5 a.m daily due to that racket. 5. Most important thing for all hotels everywhere is signs on the hotel room doors educating ignorant and inconsiderate guests who let their doors slam when entering or leaving their rooms no matter what time of night . What is wrong with people ?? It’s impossible to Get sleep in hotels especially with tile floors when people just let their heavy room Doors slam behind them plus their sliding balcony doors. The signs should be posted on both sides stating something like “ hold door when closing , do not let doors slam, be considerate of others “ The company that makes these signs and sells them to all hotels will make a fortune and have very happy guests!!

This newly updated resort will not disappoint. From check in to check out everything was flawless. Meals were outstanding. Andre can prepare a fantastic omelette and kept the line moving and the choices for each meal was extraordinary. Lobster even at the evening buffet! Sweetie, Chicken and Chocolate Thunder kept it fresh and hopping on the beach and at the pool so many laughs. Sheldon and Conrad always made sure towels were ready to go and always had a smile and couldn't do enough to make your beach or pool time fun. Shayne working both the front desk and steak house (saw him in different locations) was always looking to make sure all your needs were met. Drinks at all bars were fantastic and you never had to wait long for a drink. Our rooms were very large and always clean. The grounds were beautiful and the guys were out there everyday grooming. We walked down to the Negril Riu which is at the other end of the bay, you could definitely see the difference in resorts as the Negril Riu looked very tired. Over all this Riu resort will be a good choice . We were disappointed with our Sunwing rep at our resort but this does not reflect the Resort itself. We will definitely return to Riu Palace Negril.

Resort was immaculatey clean,staff very efficient. Found this resort lacking in many areas though,no sports bar,24 hr snack shack lacking in variety of food and what they did offer was bland and not apetitizing .Our room had an odd odor that was not pleasant but hard to identify. Food was okay but not fantastic for a 5 star and for what we paid and expected. Hard to enjoy the beach because it was full of people trying to sell u ‘party packs,anything u needed to needed to feel good they had it’ every 5 min u were approached,very annoying and felt the hotel did little to stop it, this is the major reason I would not go back or recommend it among all the other things I have listed

I go on vacation to relax and get away from the noise and stress of the big city life. I want calm and a noise free environment. This did not happen. Extremely noisy all the time on the beach. I was trying to read on the beach while a gardener was mowing the lawn with a weedeater. It took 2 hours. The following day, another gardener came with a leafblower for another 2 hours and they did it again 2 days later. Never mind the music and screams from the pool area - I was expecting that. But we hung out at the extremity of the beach in order to have peace and quiet and just read our books and swim. So the constant gardening was really annoying and kept us from really relaxing. The food was exquisite, the service was really outstanding and the room comfortable. The hotel is no longer a 5 stars, more like an ageing 4 stars. And the constant noise coming from boats passing by and the gardeners with their gas tools and their four-wheelers added to a stress I was trying to get rid of.

Resort the best part of the resort we’re the people working there .They our stay very enjoyable. We had dance lesson for Reggae ,did paddle board ,kayaking and went on day trips .In all a very enjoyable time

4 out of 5 stars. Food and service could be improved in the restaurants. Beach is excellent. Resort needs more washrooms so that you don't have to walk so far.Lunch buffet offering seemed to be the best food offering.

The resort was above and beyond expectations. The grounds were kept very well by the hard working staff. The rooms were kept clean and up to standards by the cleaning staff. The restocking could use some help as we had to request things to be brought down for us. The food was amazing and the wait staff went above and beyond for our needs. In particular, Natherene and Crifton were ever so obiliging and Crifton went out of his way to make our last evening special with table decorations. We will certainly return for another two weeks in the future. We don't have a bad comment about this visit.

I want to say that the Palace Tropical Bay is one of the best resorts in Jamaica, I would go back anytime. The staff, rooms ,food,and beach there is nothing bad to say about the resort. I plan on returning in the near future. The price is a little steep for my pocket but its worth every cent. The activities for older kids there is none, I have a son that is 15 but he was able to enjoy the beach. The bus ride to the resort was not to my liking, as it was almost 2 hours

Beautiful resort with excellent food and service. The beach is deep and the water is calm - great for swimming. The furniture in the rooms and the entertainment area is old and in need of updating. Our bathroom had a cracked sink and very worn bathtub.

This resort has it all. They have friendly staff great entertainment. The food was terrific and everyday we were surprised by something. Whether is was ice cream served at the pool, to fresh coconuts at the beach to make your own paella. It was my second time at this resort and it seems to have gotten better. The only downfall is the rooms need to be updated but I heard they are going through renovations next fall. Great Trip!

Beautiful resort in large sheltered bay. Great swimming as water is calm and clear. excellent walking beach; vendors at far end. Hotel is beautiful, per Riu standards. Bathroom tub needed new caulking and one bathroom sink cracked. No hot food 24/7 (only fruit and popcorn). For these reasons can only give this resort 4.5 stars out of 5. Food is superior (hats off to the chefs!) and staff are helpful and courteous. Beach is lovely with shade available. Would definitely return.

This resort in my opinion is one of the best. If you think it is run down they will be updating in 2018. I have seen much worse hotels in my travels. Staff are lovely, grounds are simple but well kept. Food is pretty good. Beach is beautiful!! It is the type of hotel where you can do what you want as long as you are not bothering anyone. Seems to be a place for an older crowd that still likes to have a bit of fun.

Been to this resort many times. Always been pleased with the service and quality, although it is not up to "palace" standards in my opinion. The staff are very kind and always helpful. I have no complaints. The beach at this resort is amazing!!!!

After having returned to the RIU Ochos Rios four years in a row, we wanted to try out Negril and of course picked the RIU Palace Tropical Bay. The good: Free wifi everywhere including the beach Front desk service was great! Check in and temperature checks. Went out of their way to make our stay a great one. Checked in several times. The food in the buffet is good with a lot of variety. Steak house is awesome Fusion was fantastic for food, presentation and flawless service Italian was by far the best (this coming from an Italian, that says a lot!) Japanese is gross - they ask you to complete surveys on food and service in each a la carte restaurant. The manager of public relations called me to discuss my survey. She continued to check in throughout my stay to ensure we were doing well - that I must say was impressive. She went out of her way, along with the fabulous staff in the Italian restaurant to make my birthday extra special. Beach is spectacular and totally makes up for all the bad experiences The bad: Palapas - they need some - zero shade Music - its dead silent here. With so much amazing music in Jamaica would really feel like you're on vacation with music all over the resort. Two hours on the beach playing the same music every day for 10 days is not my idea of music. I got really annoyed and loaned them my iPod with reggae music on it every day for almost a week! Washrooms - entire resort has only two washrooms and neither are near the beach or the pool. Be prepared to hike to a washroom! Service is in the buffet is terrible - they are so busy talking to each other or on their phones instead of serving their customers. Entertainment team is non attentive and too busy talking to each other or picking up young women - definitely don't cater to married couples. A couple of them came around toward the end of our stay but overall they need some energy pumped into them - they truly make or break the vacation so if they are pumped and happy and ready to have fun it becomes contagious. Rooms near the road will get loud due to the sounds from the road - walls are paper thin and we were awoken each morning by a wood pecker going to town. Clearly not the fault of the resort. Water sports - afternoon refusal based on weather (apparently sunshine and light wind wasn't satisfactory to take out a sail boat) One place to eat lunch and they were staining or painting the walkway which was nauseating at best. The nightly shows are a yawn fest - utterly amateur and completely boring. For those accustomed to the RIU Palace, note that this is definitely not a palace. They are painting it white and calling it a palace. They lack the amenities the palaces offer. Kids area is a small run down park with two swings and a tree house looking structure. Overall - we made the most of our vacation thanks to a breathtaking beach and ocean and a few key people who were really awesome. I will return to Negril but not to this resort.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay is a great resort. Our room was spacious, our bed was comfortable and the maids did an excellent job with the cleaning. The beach was sandy and clean. Food was very well presented with great selections. The grounds and pool area were kept neat and clean. We really enjoyed interacting with the staff who were always ready to please. Overall...a wonderful vacation spot.

For the price bracket we paid, this was about as good as we could expect. Beach was very nice, rooms were average, sunsets were great, staff was amazing and the food was better than expected - especially the a-la-cart restaurants (which don't require reservations). In general the crowd was over 30 and the place cleared out around 1030pm (after the show) most nights, but if you wanted to go later the RIU resort down the street (with reciprocals) had a disco and livelier scene.

Most beautiful beach I have ever been too. All staff are wonderful, very polite and helpful. I did not like the location of my room and within 15 minutes they had me set up in another room. My only criticism is that being a "palace" I would of expected the room to be a bit more upgraded and it was very regular , nothing differentiated from most all inclusive resorts I have been in the past, but was still nice, clean and good size. The catamaran ride was the best $59 dollar spent , very fun afternoon. The jeep , 4 wheeler was not worth the cost do not waist your money on this tour.

Although this is an older resort ,the rooms were clean, the food was great and the beach was one of the best we have seen. We had an ocean view room with a wonderful sunset every night. The flea market between the RIUs was a great attraction and the other RIU was a nice place to visit. The trip from the airport was long -about 2 hours with stops but that was the only drawback. We would like to make a return trip.

Loved the beach, the staff was amazing, food was good & plentiful. Hotel is dated but we where up graded to partial Ocean view which made a huge difference Would return for a laid back atmosphere vacation.

Had a great time at Riu Palace Tropical Bay in Negril. Beach was outstanding, friendly staff with amazing people doing activities around the resort. Candy & Sandi were our faves the energy these two ladies had was crazy, Andrew the pool bartender was out of this world. David the bell hop made us feel like family. We will be back again!!!

One of the nicest beaches I have seen, warm water and sandy beaches. Pools were a lot smaller than they appeared in pictures on line. Rooms were average but my biggest complaint would be the 2 beds pushed together to form one large bed. Food was average, but their system of having to stand in line to make a dinner reservation was frustrating. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The hotel was beautiful! Staff where all nice. Buffet was better then restaurants in our opinion. Beach was beautiful, always chairs! Locals around a lot on the beach. JR in the market down the beach is awesome! !

Everything at the RIU Palace Tropical Bay Negril was fantastic. All services, maids, bartenders, servers, chefs, front desk Smiley...everybody was helpful and polite. We will definitely return to RIU. Food was excellent, beach was awesome.

We were at the Riu Palace first week of Feb. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was ready upon arrival and clean. On the first day the shower pressure was low but it was repaired by the second day. Buffet offered great variety and good quality food. A la carte dinners,we tried 4, were good but not excellent. Wine on the resort was very good in comparison with other resorts. A big + for us. Beach is clean and no problem to get a chair. Overall a good choice.

Beautiful rooms and hotel grounds. Pool area a bit small but who really stays by the pool anyway?! The beach was full of seaweed but I think that was due to weather. Beach service for drinks was fantastic! Friendly, helpful staff! Easy to navigate off resort!

Great staff they were very friendly and accommodating, the pool was clean as well as the beach which had tons of chairs so we always found a seat, the food was good, the room was always clean, nice grounds, well maintained.

We visited this resort for our anniversary and had an excellent time. Loved the room with oceanview. Lots of food choices and enjoyed the seafood. Excellent friendly service. Would definitely return and recommend.

Awesome resort! Staff were the best...always making sure we were OK. Grounds were very nice but resort is getting tired in some areas such as the pools and the entertainment stage can use an update. The ocean was incredibly beautiful!

We had a very enjoyable stay and enjoyed the beach and restaurants, with one exception, but found three concerns. The drive from the airport to the resort is 90 minutes which was not comfortable based on the age of the vehicle provided. The "steak house" restaurant option was not staffed effectively and not worth the effort of booking this. The umbrellas and available shade at the pool area was not sufficient in number or design to effectively provide coverage to allow for relief from the sun and heat.

Hotel was great, clean, staff is friendly and hospitality is excellent. Foods ( all you can eat Buffet is delicious especially the fruits. Yum yum yum. Missed it already. A La Carte was okay except the Japanese a la carte but still edible .

the hotel was clean ,the staff I can t say more except very professional ,curtious,always there when you need them. the food unbelieveable,tasty all Jamaican treat at your finger tip.the entertainment spectacular.i am going back to this resort next year,and will book with tripcentral.

Loved our week here! The food is fantastic, the people are friendly, and the beach is beautiful, all sand, no rocks and easy going waves - no need to wake up early for a spot and the waiters/waitresses serve right on the beach! There is a wonderful animation team that makes a point to meet and great every guest. We will definitely be back next year.

This resort is definitely the best one on Bloody Bay. The staff were friendly and very helpful and it wasn't too large or too small. The beach is a beautiful soft sand and is the same out in the water. I would definitely stay here again!
