The staff was very accommodating! We asked to have an extra bed brought into the room and they had it done within an hour. Rooms were otherwise mostly fine. Our patio doors did not lock, but this turned out to be helpful since our room keys deactivated basically everyday. Food was good but repetitive. They could use more effective security on the beach. The locals selling excursions were VERY pushy; almost to the point of harassment. Pools are awesome though!

The resort is not new but the rooms are a good size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was great and a good variety. The snack bar was also good. The grounds are well maintained. The beach is beautiful. I would definitely return to this resort. We had a great vacation

Pls feed the cats, you can cut up meat & put it in the bowl (by the soup) & taje the bowl out of the buffet area. There are a few pregnant cats too! Be kind to the animal's. Staff need to be a bit more friendly, the ocean & beach is beautiful. We had an ocean view suite with the best view of the beach & ocean, be aware of the steps going down to the balcony, there really should be lights there. Pool is nice, no swim up bar. You don't need to book ala cartes or sign out beach towels which was pretty good. We never used the towels, sun dries you off quickly.

Food was excellent!! Accommodations are getting tired and need refreshing Your beach requires a great deal of work as very uneven and cramped. Lounge chairs are in short supply and many need repair Also beach needs a great deal more shade Much better enforcement is needed regarding reserving lounge chairs. Many are reserving both pool and beach for the whole day and often doing this in the middle of the night Also need better control of inappropriate behaviour in pool area.i

We are frequent travelers. We have stayed at many resorts and private residences both in DR and other parts of the world. We booked this trip for a quick, cheap get-away and, after reading the reviews, we were a little hesitant. We were pleasantly surprised. The resort is quite nice. The grounds are beautiful. The beach was nice (a little small but exactly what we expected). The rooms were decent but could use some updating (furniture and a fresh coat of paint) and the food at the buffet was pretty good most nights. The breakfast buffet had everything you need to start your day with trays being replenished frequently. We were on the main floor in Building #4 so we were close to everything (pools, snack bar - great pizza- and the beach). Our air conditioning was working great but we were a bit cold through the night so we asked for another blanket which ended up taking 3 days to obtain after asking front desk at least 6 times. SHORTFALLS.... the staff... not very pleasant -especially the front desk. I'm sure they are overworked and underpaid but they were miserable from the time we arrived until the time we left. NOT ENOUGH POOL CHAIRS... UGGGH! well aware that this is a problem in almost every resort but have not seen anything like this before.... fights breaking out at the pool most every day... get there early to reserve... like at 6:00am...We brought our own coffee maker so we were good for the morning. Would suggest this for any early morning coffee drinkers(there is a fridge in the room for cream or milk). NO NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT... they could have used a night or two of entertainment but resort is very quiet and I'm guessing most guests didn't really miss this. All in all we were pleased with the resort and agree that this is a 3+* and good value for the price we paid.

Good family vacation 2026. This was a good hotel but not great. Definetly have many things that are just okay. I would NOT likely return to this hotel. Pros - food is great. We don't have complaints about food. We had Mexican which was fantastic , buffet always great as well. International we had was okay but not great. We didn't try Italian. Beach is beautiful. Rooms are clean and housekeeping does a very good job. Dislikes - BEACH/POOL CHAIRS. We had to set our alarm at 5 am(on vacation)to reserve chairs. By 6 most shade was not available. One day we tried to do late night as we arrived back late and next day out towels taken off the chairs and my clips were never returned to us. No trying to relax on beach as Dominicans are constantly selling stuff to you. Coffee is not great. Coffee machines are not always working in lobby and we had early flight home and no coffee at all at that time. Coffee in buffet is OKAY but only have hot milk to mix which was not ideal and made me not want any. No Safe. We had 3 rooms for our family of 6 and no one had a working safe. Luckily we had no issues with housekeepers taking anything. Still felt a bit unsettling. Lots of mixed reviews on Hott water in room although we didn't have issues some others we knew did. Seems air conditioning was hit or miss , we found too cold and blanket was to thin. Others changed rooms as no air at all. Staff - I only recall a select few that were nice and would smile. Most had no smile and seems to very much be unhappy to be working at hotel. Not much good customer service in my opinion. Most bartenders were miserable and never cracked a smile. 1 at buffet was good 1 at Mexian restaurant. Entertainment crew was pretty good , 1 guy made a lot of effort to talk to me and my family. Entertainment - not enough going on especially at night. Disco that they did have was apparently closed for a year and we met people that went for that specifically. When there was dancing at night there was not much variety of music at all and short amount of time. Many of same songs too. Dance/stage shows were very short. Daytime they did try to get people involved in a few things.

The rooms were very clean but outdated and the food at the à la carts were amazing and not having to make a reservation was even better. We had a little concerns and I know we shouldn’t complain we had to turn the air conditioning off as we were to cold as there was only a sheet and a thin blanket. The shower was hit and miss mostly miss no hot water. The pools were beautiful and so was the wavy beach. The staff at the à la carts were nice and would always be around to refill your wine which was delicious. The bar staff just worked on robot mode and not interactive it was great they had a drink list. The worst thing for our week was that the pool chairs were reserved at 5 am in the morning and someone wouldn’t show up to later in the afternoon. If I was this resort I would put a stop to this oh and the smoking everywhere is not pleasant.

Aged resort which could do with some refurbishment but very clean for the most part. We did observe garbage not always picked up, bar cups seemed to be left everywhere and not picked up at end of day. Broken chair parts around the beach area not retrieved by staff. Food was quite good and plentiful but could benefit from stronger flavour and garlic especially missing from obvious dishes . Staff very courteous and willing to serve but not very excited to do so. Common rules were not being enforced by management at all. No valet to take our luggage to our room when we arrived at 11:30 at night was not appreciated and more than one reception Attendant for a large group of arrivals would certainly have been beneficial. We had to wait til the next morning for a safe key. No coffee pot in our room was disappointing. Water supply was great, toilet worked well, corridors are well lit -much appreciated.

This is an older hotel. Very clean rooms, lobby and restaurants. They were a little slow with picking up litter on the grounds in some areas (several plastic glasses on the lawn area in front of building 2 for 3 days. The grounds themselves are well maintained. Not sure of the capacity while we were there (March 25 to April 1) but there were not enough lounge chairs around the pool or in the beach for the number of people at the resort. That being said, there was no apparent attempt to enforce rules regarding loungers at the pool or the beach. There would be towels placed on lounge chairs and no person on those loungers all day. Impression was that people “reserved” loungers at the pool and spent most of the day in other chairs on the beach. One lounger beside ours had a towel on it all day and no one came to claim it from 9:00 am til 5:00 pm when we went back to our room. The room was very clean with sufficient towels all week and good sized. Housekeeping did a great job. The bedspreads are very thin and we found it just too cold through the night with the air conditioning on. We requested extra blankets and we got nice heavy blankets the next day. There really is inadequate storage for 2 people in a room. One and a half shelves in the closet is all you get. No kettle or coffeemaker in the rooms. Hot water was sporadic at best but we managed with mostly warm. When we checked in it was after midnight, there were people from 3 flights arriving and one person attending to register everyone. There was also no porter to help with luggage. We had two flights of stairs to our room hauling heavy suitcases. We had to return to reception in the morning after nine when the manager was there for a lock for the safe and towel card. We went in the morning and were told that we had to go to the towel shack and there were no cards. The public washrooms were very clean but every one had at least one stall with the toilet seat on the floor beside the toilet all week. Restaurants were well kept and food was plentiful and good for the most part. The food at the buffet was not hot most of the time unless it was freshly prepared for you - pasta station, eggs/omelettes, and stir fry. The à la carte restaurants were offered on alternating days only and that was not clear in the brochure provided in the rooms. Not much entertainment in evenings but we were ok with that. There seemed to be only 1 or maybe 2 people doing activities around the pool. There was only a small portion of the pool that was shallow enough for water activities. Unusual. Most of the staff were pleasant and hardworking. Beverages were good. The snack bar was good. The weather was fabulous. The beach was quite nice in spite of some erosion but we found that to be the case at several other resorts in the area when going for walks up and down the beach. Overall we had a very nice week at this resort. I would recommend this resort to someone looking for a laid back quiet vacation. If you are looking for excitement with lots of activities this is not the place for you.

Terrible service, foods okay, beach/pool good. Rooms are terrible, safe didn’t work, AC half worked, showers were hot/cold depending on time of day - resort is packed. Not really much to do at night, shows are meh. Okay value but resort is very meh

This is a very nice small resort. The beach was lovely for swimming with a gentle sloping sand bottom. The pool was cleaned daily and was refreshing. The grounds were lovely with flowering plants throughout and maintained regularly. There were 2 menu type restaurants which we did not attend as my husband is a picky eater; the buffet suited us better. We found the food was good on the buffet with a good variety to choose from and something different everyday. The area in the main reception building was a great place to relax and have a coffee or drink out of the sun. Also there is a pergola with vines overhead with flowers, also nice to relax and chat. The entertainment was geared at getting guests involved, dancing or participating in some way. The rooms need some work. Our first room had 2 double beds so we requested a King room because we were there for our anniversary. Were were given a King room and everything was good except the sliding door onto the patio was very hard to open and close and the closet doors did not work. Some rooms have been updated as we could see new sliding doors have been installed. We were provided with 2 large bottles of water daily in our room and there was a small refrigerator. The staff were generally friendly but did not speak much English, I found my Spanish translation app helpful at times. Over all I would return to Vik Arena Blanca as we had a lovely relaxing time.

I am writing this review at the request of Trip Central, following a catastrophic experience connected to my stay at VIK Arena Blanca in December 2025. What began as a long-saved, family vacation with my 4-year-old son ended in repeated hospitalizations, "ICU admission", and lasting health consequences. On the first plane ride over from Vancouver, I developed what appeared to be a minor insect bite. At the time, I believed it was not serious. On December 26, 2025, while already at the resort, I purchased over USD $500 in excursions through Nexus Tours (including Monkeyland) because I reasonably believed the issue was insignificant and would not affect our vacation. That same morning, during a Nexus presentation required after booking through Trip Central / WestJet Vacations, I showed the infected bite to Alfredo, the Nexus tour guide who had sold me my excursions. Because of his affiliation with Canadian travel companies and the resort, I trusted his guidance when he directed me to the hotel’s on-site medical clinic. This decision proved to be devastating. At the hotel clinic, the doctor forcefully squeezed the bite despite my objections, worsening the inflammation. I was then told I needed to be sent by taxi to a nearby hospital and reassured that I would receive “a few hours of IV antibiotics” and be sent back so I could enjoy my vacation. That assurance was false. What followed was three days of hospital confinement, during which: I was repeatedly given IV antibiotics without appropriate diagnostic testing No wound culture was taken. I was told if I left against Hospiten bravaro advice I would owe thousands of dollars. I was told I could not leave unless I paid thousands USD by credit card I was warned that if I left, my insurance would not cover me. I was repeatedly told “you’ll be out soon,” while my stay was continuously extended I felt financially and medically trapped, with no advocate, while being told my treatment was at the hospital’s discretion. After being released back to the resort, my condition worsened dramatically. I became severely ill while in my hotel room with my young child. I was not completely alone only because another Canadian guest from Toronto, stepped in to help me. Thank God she was there. She assisted me during my illness and helped care for my child at moments when I was too unwell to do so myself. Without her presence, the situation could have been even more dangerous. Out of desperation, I returned to the hotel clinic, where immediately after having a blood pressure monitor attached to me I allegedly suffered a prolonged seizure despite having no neurological history. I was transported back to the same hospital and admitted to the ICU. During this ICU admission: I was separated from my 4-year-old child in a foreign country My child’s care depended on the kindness of someone I had only recently met I continued to deteriorate after excessive antibiotics Only after a doctor finally administered probiotics did I begin to improve Despite this, I was labeled with “late-onset epilepsy.” The hospital attempted to keep me admitted until January 5, 2026, but I was ultimately discharged on December 31, 2025. The representative from the Canadian consulate expressed concern that no one from the travel agency had alerted the Canadian consulate that I was admitted to hospital. Upon returning to Canada, I was taken to an emergency department, observed for several hours, and released, highlighting the stark contrast in proportionality of care. Why this concerns the resort and Canadian travelers This entire chain of events began with a hotel-affiliated medical referral. Resorts operating within systems that funnel insured tourists into external hospitals without safeguards, transparency, or advocacy should not ethically be aligned with Canadian travel companies. Based on conversations I had while hospitalized, I am not the first person this has happened to, and without change, I will not be the last. This is a serious public safety issue. My son never saw Monkeyland. My health and livelihood were deeply affected. What should have been a restorative vacation became a medical and emotional catastrophe. I am sharing this review so other families—especially parents traveling alone with children—understand the risks and can make informed decisions. Do not trust the resort clinic. I could have died.

Grounds clean and green a lots of palm trees flowers rooms clean and spacious renovation is still going in some of tthe rooms.Food good quality and fresh. Only coffee is not available early morning in the lobby. The pool is excellent with a lots of activities good music and entertainment all day long.

We liked everything about this resort! Excellent staff, all of them speaks English. Our room was clean and we never ran out of the toilet paper or shampoo. Every day we were getting 2l bottle of water. We loved the ground, lots of palm trees, ficus trees were huge. I was amazed by them and I really loved them. Food was great, pretty good selection. 2 beaches, one was short and rocky, the other long and sandy. Both fantastic for walking. We stayd there for 2 weeks and never got board. Thank you! Ek.

Hotel was perfect, very clean and delicious foods with a lot of choice for anyone! Employees are polite and nice! Great view to ocean and very clean pool. There was amazing animation team with a lot of fun activities every day, specially for kids

It is a 3-star hotel. Don’t expect fancy dining, fancy cocktails, or top notch activities and amenities. However, it was very good considering the price we paid (almost 60% of the average price in Punta Cana). Seaweed is abundant but that’s not the hotel’s fault.

So I went to this resort with extremely low expectations. Not only was it the cheapest at the time of booking but the reviews were terrible. Two pools were out due to construction and apparently the seaweed was a disaster. But in fact I was met with a very lovely resort with nice grounds. The pool they did have was still very large and the noise was not even an issue. Plenty of lounge chairs and while some did reserve early, there was always somewhere to sit. Yes the seaweed starts building up in the evening and by morning it’s so full, but by 9 they have it all cleared up and it’s easy access to the ocean. They definitely have lost some of their beach due to this cleanup but if you walk to the left a little bit there is plenty of room in the sand. Food was decent, I had bacon every day for breakfast. But they didn’t have anyone cooking fresh eggs :( Building one had fantastic AC and I always had extremely hot water. Easy to walk around because it’s a smaller resort but still nice pathways with lovely flowered bushes and plenty of trees. Wifi was non existent in my room but accessible from my balcony and the main areas.

If you are looking to really relax Vik hotel is an excellent option. It was clean and the main pool was very nice. Food was decent enough and the drinks were good. There was not much entertainment nor Latin music by the pool. All in all a nice relaxing vacation.

This a tired, lack luster resort. Food is plentiful but not a great variety or flavours. Airconditioning is hit or miss, beds and pillows are hard, old. Staff are also hit and miss..so nice some dismissive..beach narrow and not enough lounge chairs for pool or beach. People were reserving chairs for hours without using them...

Quiet hotel, entertainment non existent, so not noisy at night, food is decent (no stomach issues), buffet style, no a la carte restaurants, presentation is lacking, but quality is good, alcohol options are very limited, rooms are good, AC works well, one time power was off but they fixed it fast, safe is separate charge $2 per day for the lock, staff works around the clock, always on time, keeping place clean and well maintained, there are ongoing repairs on the ground but they are not disrupting, the beach is sand but it is partially destroyed and seaweed in the sea makes it less enjoyable than it could be, it was raining every day, massage $50, it is a good idea to bring sunscreen and burn reliefs and other meds with you as options to buy are limited and prices are steep.

This hotel advertised being a four star but it was more like a one star. The dining hall was not enclosed so it was hot. The food was not covered so there were flies on it especially the fruit. I ended up getting sick and I’m still sick now. The beach had algae all over so it was hard to swim or we couldn’t swim at all. We couldn’t even walked in/near the algea because of the many flies and garage in it. Clearly the place is run down. We saw men fixing the roof when we arrived. The pool had chipped paint and looked cheap. The toilet paper holder kept dropping down. The shower water was rarely hot. We were very disappointed for the money we paid and couldn’t relax. Because I got sick I was scared to drink the water. The overall feeling we got is that this resort gave up and will close down soon. I believe we should be reimbursed somewhat because we paid for a higher quality service and got less. When we tried to talk to the staff about the beach they just passed us off the the manager who wasn’t even there. Had the beach been swimammbe and the the food been healthy I would’ve dealt with the rest of the problems, but having a lingering illness due to this hotel’s unsanitarianess is unacceptable. The grounds are well maintained, food was very good, lots of variety, we did have a few issues with the room, but the staff took care of everything. It’s an old resort and it needs some upgrades. The staff is very friendly, no complaints about that.

VIK Arena Blanca did not disappoint! Beautiful resort, clean and safe! Plenty of space on the beach, even with the erosion. Anyone who complains about the lack of beach should just sit back and revel in the beauty and tranquility of the ocean. Stunning views. There was no pressure, at this resort, to partake in anything other than what you wanted to. We had an oceanfront room and my oh my it was spectacular. If I had one complaint it would be a bit of a lack of communication. Eg; we did not know where to reserve our spot for the Friday night steak & lobster dinner. Sign was posted to make a reservation but didn't say where, and not one of the staff we asked knew where we should go. As well, we were not told about the "energy saver" re A/C, in the room (have to put your room key in the slot for it to work properly) Found out the very last day from a post on FB! So all in all a fabulous vacation, they just need a bit more communication Also, fantastic friendly staff!

Very clean. Had to switch rooms the first night because air conditioner didn’t work properly. Staff around resort excellent. The speciality restaurant served great food. The buffet typical for dominion republic. Theatre entertainment was awful sorry staff but needs an update. Suggest announcing and more activities around the pools.

Beautiful grounds, nice beach. Not much in the way of night life, just their Dominican shows. So if you like the more quieter resorts, this is perfect. Food was great. They switch up the food at the buffet each night, surprised one night that they even had sushi. Would definitely go back again.

Resort is a little outdated and need of minor repairs, granted a hurricane was just through in late fall, but still could use a face lift. Lobby chairs, plastic and some people did not feel safe sitting on them. Beach area was a disaster, but again hurricane damage. Pools, not bad but one was closed, not sure why but the one that was open was good. Great place if you are there to relax and not do much. The usual excursions but pricy. Food was excellent! Never had a bad meal. Great staff eager to help, but language barrier is there.

We just spent 9 days at Vik hotel Arena Blanca. It was a group trip for a birthday. The hotel is is older and tired. Definitely needs some updates. Our room had very little air conditioning. The food was ok. Stir fry every night in the the buffet was the best and so was the chef working there. He was extremely nice and very helpful. Entertainment staff were great as well. As for the rest of the staff I found them not to be very friendly. Walking the beach was very nice.

We did enjoy ourselves but the beach was seriously eroded in front of hotel Vik and Cayena. The food was good and we didn't do the A la Carte restaurant. The rooms were plain and mini bar had only water. There is a 2 USD a day for safe and the wifi was weak in the room but good in the lounge area. The one pool operating was never too busy. The bartender at the lounge was wonderful. We always found a palapa to sit under , the vender's were polite. The cleaning ladies did a nice job with the room and were prompt to get supplies when requested. It was a relaxing week with great weather the Bavaro Beach was beautiful.

quiet and beautiful view of the ocean. very friendly staff. i took my mother with me who is in her 70’s and we had a very relaxing and comfortable stay. good was good. due to low occupancy they closed a few ala carrés and had a rotating menu at only 1 restaurant. it wasn’t a problem for us because the buffet was good.

No AC for 2 days. Fake alcohol. Unfriendly staff. Food that will give you the runs. Very old. Seaweed was all over the sand and in the water. Every 5 minutes you will be bothered on the beach to buy something. Just don't do it. Worst resort I ever been to.

This was our first visit to VIK, we had a great time, no expectations, the salt water pool was to die for, the food was great, rooms were good, clean, staff was super friendly. The beach was beautiful.

Food was really good and it was nice not to have to make reservations for the rotating ''À la carte'' restaurants (Mexican, Seafood and Italian). Buffet also had a nice selection and the food was great! Grounds are very well kept, public bathrooms were immaculate all over the resort. Rooms were well maintained, great maid service everyday. Water and toilet paper replenished everyday. If you are looking for a ''party place'' this resort is not for you. Although there were shows nightly, it was low key and average. But this is place is great for relaxation to recharge your batteries. Like the fact that it is on the ''smaller'' size, everything within easy walking distance. The beach is this section has been somewhat eroded but still beautiful. This is no fault of the resort. With all the ''open air spaces'' (lobby, theater, dining facilities) we didn't feel that masks were required anywhere. Hand sanitizers were readily available all over.

The resort is not running at what it once did, only 1 a-la-cart (they used to have 3). The buffet had limited selection. The rooms are not updated, and our plumbing was an issue, the patio doors don’t close in the room either. Night life is okay, the entertainment staff really work hard and did a great job. This resort was at one time very beautiful, just a little rundown now. Security was always present, which was nice.

This hotel was listed a a 3.5 star but it felt like a 1.5 star it was very small which we expected but it i did not enjoy it here i found my self wanting to go home the beach was great expect for the sea weed which was due to climate change so i understand that has nothing to due with the resort the pools were great as well and the staff was nice the beach chairs and pool chairs were very uncomfortable it felt like they had not been replaced since the resort opened The food was OK it there was three restaurants but i did have this issue were i kept finding hair in my food my significant other did not have this problem. the bathroom in the room was nice and clean the only Issue I had in the bathroom was that after one - two minutes there was no more hot water or even warm water. The tv in a room did not work the screen was just grey we didn't even bother to complain as we weren't gonna use it the bed was very very bad when u layed down the whole middle sunk it was so hard to sleep on we woke up multiple times a night the pillows we had as well were very very hard it felt like they were made out of cement. the air was very cold so that was nice. are biggest issue beside the chairs and bed was a trip central representative never showed up we were told he would meet us at four the second day after arrival and he would talk pick up time and offer us excursions we messaged him and he sent us the pick up time but he never showed up or explain any excursions options so we had to go online and book our excursions online through a third party which was disappointing as a trip central traveller. over all i would not go back

Our second time in this resort, always have a great time here although it could use some updates resort is well maintained. Food is always good, staff are helpful and friendly beach is stunning except the seaweeds. Our favourite was the guy at the omelette station very funny and friendly loves to fist bump. Lobby needs more tables and chairs as we often had to stand and wait up for a spot to sit on. Overall had a great stay we will be back again for sure.

We had sach a good time in this resort, lots of fan. People was very nice and approached. Entertainment team was wery good and nice. Good food, and coffee. Specially man baked pizza every day. AC and fridge did not work in our room. Only thing that we didn’t like was sea grass. A lots of sea grass and bulldozers on the beach.

I loved the fact that I had an ocean view room and it was close to the beach . The grounds were well kept and there were so many beautiful flowers. There was a wide selection of food at the buffet and there were clearly labelled. I was able to sample and try new dishes

Back from two weeks at the VIK. Met familiar staff and many friends from our previous 4 visits. Beach is great and our oceanview third floor room in building five was exactly what we wanted. Quick walk to the beach and plenty of plapas open each day down near the Pelicano club. Sails with Andre on the catamaran and available snorkel gear add to the fun at the beach. Tractor cleans the beach each day and so most seaweed gone. Being a maritimer seaweed is expected, and grateful for the no jellyfish. Warm water and quiet beach for us to toss a football on. Rooms are clean and cool with an immediate supply of hot water for showers. Cleaning staff are friendly and efficient. Room is a bit on the older side but so are we. Food is fine with plenty of variety and theme nights. Breakfast is fun when you stop for eggs and enjoy the chef, who quickly gets to know you and your order. A great character and lots of fun. Didn't see much of the entertainment so can't comment and never sit at the pool. The drinks are a a bit thin but again we bring our own Scotch so no concerns. Beer is fine. A la carte restaurants are good as well but mostly stuck to the buffet and the pizza and burger bar. Chicken at the burger bar is excellent and no easy to pack for a beach picnic.I love the Vik but really could do without the Cayene vultures. Most are fine and leave you be once they see the return silver bracelet but there always sems to be one who is just too pushy. I understand the necessity of booking the place but don't ruin a day by making me resort to rudeness to get someone to leave me alone. Still a minor irritation in a very wonderful time. walk the beach in either direction and barter at the markets and play with the beach dogs. Next April will be our sixth trip back I am sure. Overall the hotel had all the basis accommodations The overall staff was great and friendly 1.Unfortunately when my niece got bit by some unknown bug and her foot swelled up while we were out on the town When we returned to the hotel, the night time security and the front desk refused to let our local friend drive her up to the reception area. I understand there was a security issue. No one offered to bring a wheelchair. The hotel grounds are big and she cried the whole way to our room. We finally requested a wheelchair the following day. 2. The food seemed to be catered more towards North Americans - I would have preferred more authentic cuisine. Also the late night snack bar was very sad. Nothing worth eating, very disappointing 3. I am also disappointed that the hot tub never worked. I was looking forward to taking late night dips.. That never happened

Front desk extremely slow upon arrival. Went to our room, telephone didn’t work, balcony door didn’t lock, light over t.v. didn’t work, balcony light didn’t work, light outside the entry door (for security) didn’t work. Charged US$14.00 to use the in-room piece of crap safe. NO coffee maker, NO clock, NO towels upon arrival, BAD internet, massive amounts of seaweed on the shore, disgusting. I have been to the D.R. 4 times, thus staff never smiled, laughed, went out if thief way to say hola. Made us feel like we were interrupting their day. Housekeepers in the hallways at 8:00 a.m. yelling back and forth to each other disturbing us. Staff on their cell phones ALL the time. Severe cracks in the bathroom counter and the bottom of the step to get into the shower, could have collapsed. Food was repetitive and not good. I would rate thus property at a 2. Will not return or recommend.

A pretty good resort for the price we paid. Very good food, 4-5 various fresh juices every breakfast, free wi-fi in the lobby, comfortable rooms, a lot of place on the beach under umbrellas. The only lack is that the beach in this particular place is more narrow than in front of the other hotels, but it is long enough to place everybody.

The hotel is clean furnished and equipped with everything to make you comfortable. The ground was well maintained and clean. Dining area, was well organised and clean with very polite servers and cooks. I give this hotel four stars. Best vacation spot ever.

The service doesn't exist in this hotel at all. You have to serve yourself everywhere. Food variety is none and everyday the same. A la carte restaurants are nowhere to be a restaurant. Cocktails are garbage.

We arrived early 8n the day, Check in was after 3pm. It was fairly quick as there was only 8 checking in. We did not get the rooms we requested until the next day. Staff was friendly and did what they could do to accommodate us. When we arrived the hotel was having water problems but was fixed asap. Our rooms were nice and clean, 2 bottles of water in the fridge every day. The pools were nice but no swim up bar. The beach was amazing. The food was good, no waiting in line for the a la carte reservations. Mexican was the best. The wait staff were awesome and the bartenders too! Drinks seemed to be weak. Evening entertainment was lacking. Nothing to do while waiting, no live music to be found. Not worth staying up for. This is a very quite resort. Good for relaxing.

Not very friendly or helpful.No hot water and power outages without any backup lighting.No mention from any staff what the problems are everyone is just on your own to figure everything out.Not pleased

This resort is in a nice spot. The grounds are kept clean, tidy, neat, landscaped nicely. The food was good; the restaurants nice. The room we had was very nice, even though not in the building when we had booked; the bathroom and shower large and roomy. The beach was very nice. The buildings are nice and clean. The hotel staff was nice and friendly. Once thing, we did not get the building we had requested when we booked, over a month before the trip. We were in Building 4, 3rd floor, with a bit of a view of the ocean and the pool area. It was not too bad. We had expected to be in Building 5 with an ocean view from the upper floor. Another thing, was the number of reps around trying to sell you excursions, or to join their clubs. This was a bit of a bother at times. The pool had no pool bar, which is usually expected in a resort.... A couple of times there were water issues at the resort due to some mechanical or other issue. One time the power was out for a couple hours, so there was no water as well as no power. An issue when needing to use the washroom. Maybe there should be backup generators ......Nightly entertainment for adults was lacking. Not very good at all. The sports bar was not very good. The TVs were small and up high, hard to watch; only saw one on at a time. One evening there was some get together event going on, so you could not even go use the sports bar.

We were there for 2 weeks and everything was only ok we always found enough to eat.The place was clean.The beach and weather were awesome.But----------The food was only ever luke warm or cold,beef and pork tough and tasteless.Alot of europeans in resort and they catered to their taste in food.There was never much variety.The resort was understaffed and everything was self serve.We enjoy the staff at other resorts.There were a few there after a few days when they realized we were canadian and we wanted them to be friendly.There were no coffee machines in rooms .We had to pay for our safes.Neither of which we came across before.Our fridge wasnt cold and there were no beverages in itother than 2 water.We lost power 3 times no water one whole afternoon.Irealize this happens sometimes but we had never had before.We went to the spa .That was great.Every night we all got eaten alive by bugs.We all came home will welts on our legs.Also there were alot of familys there with small kids .We should have been warned about that.We all love kids but we didnt want topay 4thousand dollars to spend 2 weeks with them.I think we should have been told that and we would not have went there.Also our room was very old shower was horrible.Animation team were good but once again only a few of them so the inter action with the guests were not what we were used to.We took in a few shows and they were good.As i said we always found something to eat and we enjoyed our 2 wks but nowhere near worth what we paid.Also no irons in room.Its those little things that make a big difference

The pluses: the beach was fantastic and like Camelot it only rained at night. The food was good but not as much variety as other places we have stayed. Everything was a very short walk away and very convenient. The minuses: some things the hotel could improve on are: coffee makers in the rooms for guests,staff were more reserved and less friendly than other hotels, and the hotel itself was tired. We planned on spending most of our time at the beach but some things can’t be ignored. Leaking ceilings when the room above guests had a shower, showers don’t function only the hand held would work, televisions not working or receiving all channels. Tours were not as advertised and no communication with reps about changes. The biggest problem was at the airport air transit has to improve gate departures 3 hours waiting to get checked in at 90+degree weather and 100 per cent humidity and 3 air busses full of travellers leaving within two hours demands a better check in line up arrangement. Some passengers were in hung up at the end of lines and other passengers were obliged to break lines to let Montreal and Toronto flights be processed leaving Halifax people not even time for a bathroom or food before boarding for home. Not acceptable. There was a sick child that was in line and should have been given much better attention - that was child abuse.

It was my first time at this resort. The location of the hotel is perfect. Only 25 km from the airport.... Beach front resort. The beach is smaller than showing on the picture but still beautiful and clean compare to other resort on the same beach. The resort itself is clean and the vegetation is beautiful. The resort size was perfect for us. We where in the farthest block from the lobby (#5) and still within 10 min walk. The staff where very nice and I was suprised that they speak multiple language. The food was good to all the restaurant, including the buffet. Nothing outstanding... but everything is good. We also enjoyed the fact that we didnt had to reserve in any of the restaurant. Just like every resort I have been.... the wine taste bad... and the drinks at this resort are also made with cheap alcool. You need to specify barcelo rum if you want to have good rum...otherwise it's cheap. The room where ok and clean every day. Overall, It's a really good resort quality/price compare to other resort in Punta Cana. I recommend this hotel to everyone and I wont hesitate to go back.

This resort is not large but very clean..good food...great staff Our room was very comfortable but dated..the tap in the bathroom was very rusted The showers run hot and long...perfect It is an easy walk from main lobby to beach and you can walk along the beach for miles..awesome

the VIK hotel arena Blanca - second time going and found improvements in all aspects. Updated bathrooms and more eating establishments . Already planning on going again next year. the staff are very friendly and rooms kept very clean

Overall a decent resort. The buffet was great. We never went hungry. Lots of quality selection. Booze was ok. You could buy the better booze at the bars if you wanted. Beach was beautiful. White sand and turquoise water. The architecture was pretty plain and so was the pool and gardens. Nothing flashy about this resort at all. Lots of French speaking people there. Not as many English. The gym was pretty rough but you could get things done with some creativity. Staff was great. Great resort if you're on a budget.

Cudos for the following: - friendly, polite helpful staff at front desk, restaurants, bars and activities, most spoke reasonable English & many are proficient; terrific beach, fine pool & well-tended gardens; carefully prepared & presented wide selection of food options at Mirador buffet; other restaurants inconsistent foods & service; loved the poolside lunch/snack bar; updated public bathrooms clean & well supplied; activity programs well-suited to guests; the few souvenir vendors on site & at beach were not pushy. Our ocean-view room in Bldg 3 was adequate with nice closet but missing a bureau/dresser for other clothing; chairs on balcony were old broken rattan & very uncomfortable though others had plastic chairs; housekeeping of room was spotty- new sheets/bed made & fresh towels/supplies daily but table tops, sink & floor done once in 10 days - needs improvement. Bars have only a very poor draft lite beer - needs improvement. Casino & disco are small unappealing rooms but not facilities we look for in a resort. This resort suits families and middle/older ages.

We booked an oceanfront suite and were so glad we did. View was amazing in building 5. The resort is well laid out. We never felt like we had long walks to get anywhere. All the hurricane damage has been repaired. The beach is cleaned daily for seaweed. Food was good, even at the buffet which had a different variety every night. I loved that we did not have to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants. Also they break up the smoking and non-smoking sections. Rooms were clean although dated but we appreciated the cleanliness. The only complaint we had in our room was the air conditioning and safe. It never got colder than 24.5c even though maintenance looked at it twice. The bathroom was especially hot. The safe was a charge of $14US and you have to carry a key for the whole week as safe is not digital. Wifi is only free in the lobby and a lot of people swarm to it to use it so it's really slow. You can buy wifi for $70US for the week. This is very antiquated! The staff work hard and most are very friendly even if there is a language barrier, but we are in their country. Overall we would go back again.

We had room 5226 and it overlooked part of the beach and ocean. No drawers to put your stuff into but we’re a bit bohemian so we coped. It was clean. That’s a lot of characters! The food was great and we enjoyed the access to it. Loved the hot chocolate and coffee in miridor. Didn’t like the pressure from the condo sales people. Wouldn’t buy or time share at the vik. The staff in the hotel gift shops were not customer service oriented. Reception staff, were pleasant. The focus seems to be on money and from what we saw through our privately arranged trips things are pretty good in the Dominican. We had a great time, and we always do, wherever we travel. The transat individual was not informative and was just putting in his time! The maids were really nice and gave of themselves!

When we arrived there was kaos in the front lobby, and they weren't friendly at all. The food was good, the beach was great, but we were harassed constantly by the locals trying to sell us hotel deals, activities and jewelery. We liked the fact that it was a smaller hotel, didn't have to make reservations for dinners, although they only had 2 restaurants. Our room was ocean view and the view was stunning. Would we go back, no. I would rate this a 3.

Pros- Small resort, all facilities were close, clean rooms. Cons- Very poor reception desk, we had to fight to get anything that we needed such as facecloth, rooms on ground level and rooms near our friends, no beer in bottles and no service for room fridge. We would have had employee at front desk fired if possible by the name of Gilberto , we had several very bad run in's with him and as a result will not return there and we will be telling other people to stay away, they forget that we are guests and spending hard earned money for a vacation and do not need unnecessary harassment from an asshole like him. Very disappointed with the quality of drinks and the beer was draft on tap everywhere , 3star at best. Poor tv almost all Spanish , only internet in lobby , poor snorkelling in front of resort and too many pushy sales people , !

Hotel Vik The grounds and hotel were impeccable the food and variety was amazing the pool was massive and cleaned regularly the washrooms were nice and cleaned several times a day the resort was smaller but was just what we were looking for.

Room was clean, service and staff great. The beach and beach facilities were totally terrific holiday. The food at the buffet was delicious, but the al a cart disappointment. The weather was evan cooperative. Only down spot was the sales staff for excursions a tad pushing

This resort was smaller than we usually go to but loved it because everything was close. There was never big line ups. Not a problem getting a lounge chair.The beach was amazing at this resort. Pool was a little smaller than I like and I missed having a swim up bar but the beach made up for it .

This resort was very nice. Grounds and public areas were kept very clean as were the rooms! Food was decent. Not the best but good selection. Night entertainment could have been better! Wifi in lobby only :(

Vik Arena Blanka is a great resort for families.It has a great hotel, and a buffet with a variety of fresh foods and drinks. It also has a wonderful pool, however, the water in the beach wasn't the best. There was wifi in the lobby, which made that area overcrowded. It would have been better if there was more entertainment /activities especially in the afternoon.

The public areas were well maintained. The pool was really good. The rooms were cleaned every day. The only weak point was that the bedsheets were not changed at least 2 or 3 times a week. The towels were changed every day.

public area was nice, food was ok. housekeeping and food staff very hard working and nice. front lobby staff terrible. rooms are old but that would be ok if they were cleaned better. too much sales pressure

The grouds are well kept and clean. The beach is very good, lots of palapas and chairs. The rooms are very average but clean. The food is very good. For the entertainment, Michael Jackson is a must. The personnel at the check-in and check-out desk needs to be more sympathetic. Self serve for coffee, beer Pina Calada, Bananamama. Drinks served by waiters are not the best, stick to El Presidente beer.

The VIK Arena Blanca was a good sized resort. The food was good and the staff were friendly. We loved the beach...it was AMAZING. However, it was very much a French speaking resort (entertainment and lessons etc.).

the ride from the airport to the resort was very quick. As soon as we got to the resort, the check in was friendly and we had to wait maybe a half hour, which was no problem as they had a bar there. We sat and enjoyed some tasty island drinks, and the cool island breezes coming off the ocean. Walking into our room we were pleasantly pleased. Our room was very clean, and had an awesome balcony facing the ocean. Our room had everything that is needed for a stay, but I do not get to excited with the room, as I am only there to sleep. The grounds were beautifully manicured, and there were workers constantly cleaning the resort, and always had a big smile on their faces. The only thing that bugged me was the ignorant tourists who would just drop their drink cups on the beach. REALLY. The beach was totally amazing and clean, as for a bit of seeweed that would wash up every night. At 7 am every morning, they had a young fellow out with a tractor to clean up the majority of seeweed. We spent most of our time on the beach as it was beautiful. The water was amazing and cool. It has a long stretch of beach where thousands of tourists walked it everyday, but it never felt crowded. The buffet was great, as it had a wide variety of food, and real bacon. The guy at the omellete bar was so amazing and friendly, he made my day every morning. The evening buffet was excellent also. They had a Chinese station at buffet, where u pick what u would like to eat and mi amigo cooks it while you watch. Definitely do the al cartes, as they were to die for. My favorite was the Italian restaurant, but they were all great. The grill at the Bucenero by the beach served burgers, hotdogs, chicken, French fries, and pizza, which were very good. The grill was busy constantly. The workers at the resort were very friendly and helpful. The only issue is that they have guys there trying to get u to do a timeshare meeting, but once you tell them no gracias, they seemed to leave you alone the rest of the week. The excursions at the resort were very reasonable We watched the night shows every evening and the team sure do a great job and make everyone feel welcomed. This said, I would like to say that if you want the big night life, this is not the resort for you. We have been to both large chains, and small. This was absolutely a smaller resort, but also an excellent vacation. Within 5-7 minutes you could walk the whole resort. Which is nice because we never once waited in line for drinks, or at the buffets. Thanks VIK for making this an amazing and much needed vacation

This vacation was exactly what we were looking for! A smaller resort with a real Carribean feel! Palapas on the beach and around the pool offering shade for those who needed to retreat from the sun. The pools were clean, our room was very clean, everyday, we stayed in building #4, very central to pool, restaurants, bars and beach! I loved how close the pools and beach were together! Short walk everywhere! Shopping on site, and a market of shops close by! The beach was white sands, unfortunately, with hurricanes brewing in the area, there was a lot of kelp on shore and in the ocean...the hotel did have locals cleaning the shoreline which looked like a never ending job this season. Food and beverages were self serve everywhere but at the a la cartes. We loved not waiting in line for a water, a Pepsi or a slushie! Our expectations were for a quiet, clean, sunny vacation and that's exactly what we got!

Great service but hotel needs upgrade of facilities. Rooms are really old and stuff broken. Doors don't work. Shower broke etc... Sheets are hard and uncomfortable. Food is excellent. Service and staff excellent. Lobby needs to upgrade and modernize.

Beautiful updated rooms. Food was great, loved not having to book for a la carte's. First sight of the beach made me want to run to rebook at another resort. The amount of seaweed was astronomical. They worked hard to clear it, but it was not possible. I decide I would not let it spoil our vacation as we spend the whole vacation on the beach. We plowed through it and played in the ocean, after all do we not pay extra for seaweed wraps at the spa? This was free! Staff pleasant, no issues at all. Small resort. Very easy to get from one place to another.

The resort is great. Ground are kept clean and food was amazing. We stayed for two weeks and everyday there was something new to eat. The beach had a lot of sea weed but they cleaned it often. Staff is great as well..

nice beach,the food was really different,rooms not so big but clean,area good,pools not so bad,the bar in the beach was open at 10 to 5,the lobby was nice,the mexican restaurant great foodand service.

We go on holidays for the beach so we were happy because they do have a wonderful beach.The resort is quite small so easy to walk everywhere. They have a small lobby with a small bar and a few tables. They have lots of room in the lobby for more tables and chairs and they could make it look more inviting. We usually like to go to the lobby before dinner for a drink but here it is not inviting.Never any tables available and they do not have live entertainment except for the shows at night. We did all 3 a la cartes (no reservations needed) just walk in. They were all good but we preferred the buffet. The food was very good with lots of choices. I don't know how people can complain about the food here. The staff were mostly very pleasant. We had booked a Superior gardenview room and when we got there we got a room that should be condemmed. We went back to the lobby and told the guy that this could not be a superior room. He said yes it is but give me $50 dollars just between us and I will give you a better room. It was either slip him $50 or pay $16 each per night extra to get the room that we booked to begin with.We had friends coming the next day so we did not argue with him and gave him $50. I booked our friends room also when we booked so was curious to see what room they were going to get. Well they got a nicer room than us (after the $50)in a better location. They saw us coming a mile away and for that reason I will not recommend this resort.

This was our first trip to the Dominican Rep. We started our stay by approaching the We arrived at the front desk at around noon. The guy at the desk told us that we could not check in until 3pm. We were pretty tired from traveling (since 3am) and really just wanted to get to a room, but we left our bags in the lobby (they didn't have a secure storage room for bags) and went for lunch. At around 2:45 we left the snack bar and headed for the lobby. We sat down for a few mins and then I approached the front desk. The guy at the desk looked at me like I had 3 heads and asked "What do you want?". I replied that I was there for my room key. He shook his head and told me "I told you that check-in isn't until 3 o'clock". I told him that yes, it is 3. He had the gall to tell me that is was not 3. I looked at my watch and saw 2:58, he actually said "see, not 3". At this point I got a bit steamed and went back to tell my wife what the guy said. Suffice to say that by the time I told her, it was now 3:02. So I turned around and went back to the desk. I told the guy that it is now 3 and I would like my room key. At this point he told me that I would have to wait 45 more minutes. When I called him out for telling me 3-4 mins ago that I had to wait until 3, he stated that check in STARTS at 3 and that my room was not ready. So that was the first 3 hours of our stay at this resort. Not stellar. We finally checked in at around 4pm. I'll lay out the rest of my impressions below; The rooms were nice. I would say equivalent to many Cuban rooms at 4 star resorts. The grounds were well taken care of and the place looked beautiful. The gardeners would hardly acknowledge a "Hola!" and seemed to give dirty looks if you looked at them. The pools were nice, a little on the cool side but refreshing and clean which is important to us. There were plenty of loungers, tables and chairs on the beach as well as by the pool. The palapas were great. Nice size and provided all day shade for those of us who burn easy. The food was quite very good with plenty of variety and always hot. Food handling could be improved a bit, but no serious concerns. All but a few of the wait staff were unfriendly. Most of them walk around with a very stern look on their face and not talking to customers. The internet service (3rd Party) is available in the lobby only, is very slow and I feel that the code they sold me was sold to more than just me as I was constantly getting messages saying I was already connected and getting kicked off. There are staff who walk around the resort constantly asking if you want to go to a time share presentation by telling you they have a free gift. We spent the majority of the week politely saying "No thanks, we just want to enjoy the beach, eat dinner, etc". At one point one of them said to us "I know you don't like me, but I want to give you a gift". I told him that I liked him just fine, I just wasn't interested. Two items that aren't really the resort's fault but perhaps this is the clientele they cater to? The resort was full of French Canadians who would not or could not speak english. This was somewhat disappointing as we usually like to chat with fellow tourists. The aforementioned French Canadians seemed to all be chain smoking all day and night. We found it very difficult to find an area where we were not inundated with smoke. This includes the pool, lobby, beach, outside the dining rooms, etc.

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was vey clean, bed a little hard. The pools were enjoyable and clean it was nice to see areas for the kids to play in. The food wasn't canadian but we still had plenty to chose from and never went hungry. Staff were helpful and kind and would consider going back.

The rooms were clean; the food was delicious and plentiful; the service was awesome; the location a half hour from the Punta Cana airport. The rooms, dining, and swimming were close by the ocean which was handy. The room was a bit dark -- they could have used a few lamps. Bring your own amenities -- the rooms are basic.

The rooms were clean. The premises were clean. Fairly easy to change your room if you dont like the one that has been assigned to you and many people were changing their rooms when we were there. The food was very average. Though the water was supposed to be purified, I had diarrhea after the first 5 days. It lasted the duration of my two weeks stay. My family also had diarrhea. 3 out of 14 shows, after supper, were good or worth watching. Sellers of the tour operator tickets to go places were the worst. Complete robbery. Prices were jacked up to the max. to augment thier commission. The price on our Visa bill well exceeded that which we though we paid. We went in August. The beach was beautiful but on some days, there were lots of sea weeds. OK stay but on the whole, I expected more.

There was easy access to all amenities. Lot's of washrooms, which is important to me, and a good variety of food. The room were comfortable. The shows were very entertaining and the hotel staff were very accommodating.

The VIK Hotel Arena Blanca has beautiful grounds, great rooms, lots of dining choices with lots of great food, enchanting swimming pools. All the staff were friendly and helpful and service was great and above all a beautiful beach!

I went for a relaxing vacation with good food and got exactly what I needed. I wanted to try different meals on the menu but the dinners I had the day before were so good I wanted to order it again. Hotel was clean and my room was very close to the beach.

This is our most favorite resort. We have been here 3 times and plan to go back soon. Our son even enjoyed a trip here with his girl friend. It is reasonably price . The food is excellent, we love the beach and the pool area. Our rooms are great, the service is very good and the food is too

Overall, the Resort has offered beautiful beach, immaculate grounds taken care of daily, clean swimming pools, very good, satisfying variety and tasty food. The Staff super friendly and helpful. We love that Resort size where golf cards were not needed to get to the beach and not too croudy, buildings size - three levels only. We were at that Resort three times and each one was great. Our room was cleaned each day, linen crispy fresh. The cleaning ladies, gardeners, maintenance people need to be recognized for their politeness and friendly "holas" Suggestions for improvements: Some rooms need some furniture replaced, airconditioning systems and batrhroom piping up-grades and regular maintenance scheduled. Leaks from the pipes through tiles were fixed, but their recurrence called for major fixes required. The aquafitness classes program and its variety could be improved (more English please). Other than that - Vik Hotel Arena Blanca Resort - great place to relax and enjoy vacation. We will go there again.

There were pros and cons. If you like a smaller resort with everything easily accessible, this is the place. The beach was absolutely beautiful, although this was the first time in 20 years of travelling that I have ever had sand flea bites on my legs. The resort was fairly clean. We had what they called an upgraded room but it was really only some badly painted walls and somewhat of a bathroom update. There was no full length mirror in the room or an iron and ironing board. They fumigated our room once during our stay and my friend lost her voice and didn't get it back completely until a couple of weeks after we were back home. I didn't lose mine completely, but it was strained. We can't say if this was the reason but neither of us had colds. I think it is a 3.5 star at best. The food was ok but not what I expected. I stayed at another 4.5 star resort in Punta Cana two weeks prior, and it was a wonderful experience. I was disappointed that only about 10% of the other people staying there spoke English and there was a definite language barrier with most of the staff. I wouldn't return.
