We travelled here, January 27 to February 3. Check-in was a slow process, but nothing out of the ordinary everyone at the front desk was very pleasant. We were booked in a super saver room, but we were offered an ocean view in the main hotel part for $10 US a night, which we gratefully accepted the room itself was gorgeous! The view and the cleanliness was impressive. At first, I thought our patio door did not lock, turns out it was user error. Unfortunately, the week of our stay it was very cold, windy, rainy, and I think we only saw six hours of Sun the whole week, but wasn’t Cubas fault lol. There is a lot of stairs at this resort, and none of the elevators worked the whole time we were there. It didn’t matter to us. We were OK with the stairs, but for those with mobility issues, I would definitely take into consideration it sounds like these elevators haven’t worked for a long time. The beach looked nice however with the massive winds we had it was in rough shape with lots of seaweed everywhere and a terrible smell because the beach was covered in rotting seaweed. I have been to this stretch of beach before and it is generally gorgeous! The water was still very clear and pretty turquoise. The staff at this resort are outstanding! The whole week everyone was so welcoming and accommodating for everything. We were pleasantly surprised with the food options available as we travel to Cuba many times we know what to expect, with the recent announcements and changes we brought extra snacks and food items just in case however we never went hungry. We did stick to the buffet only because it was so cold outside. We wanted to be away from the elements as quick as possible lol. The resort is older, it does show however they take very good care of the grounds and the building. It was very clean and impressive. The entertainment team was good, it’s not fair for me to judge them because the week we were there it was between 8°and 11° so they were doing their best trying to keep people engaged, but a lot of people didn’t stick around outside. I should mention, we brought Mr. noodles that you just had to add hot water too and we were grateful we did. On those chilly nights instead of going to the 24 hour snack bar outside we were able to eat some warm soup in our room. I would hands down return to this resort when I can enjoy the pool, beach, and ocean another time.

I have been to Cuba more times than I care to count! I love Cuba...The people, the beach, how safe it is, everything! I went this time for a Cuban friends daughters Bday and was looking for somewhere cheap to stay. Villa Cuba was the option at the time. I was by myself and thought "how bad could it be?" Well, I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, it's an older hotel, so there is some wear & tear...But I bet half of who's reading this own home's have wear & tear lol! The place was very clean, grounds beautiful, staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help! rooms were old but clean and maintained. Food...well, its Cuba and dealing with the times we are in. But to be honest wasnt that bad. Always fresh eggs & bread at breakfast, Lunch in the restaurant by the beach was good. Dinner was hit or miss, usually I just went to town and had either a pizza or a steak & lobster for dinner. even the Snack bar was good, make the best sandwiches! I do have to mention "YAZ" he works the front desk and speaks ENGLISH!!! actually he speaks a few languages. But man! If you have an issue, or a concern he will take care of it. I watched him talk to some guests that came to the desk to complain. He listens, he feels you, and than he gets to work to fix the problem,....the whole time calming you down and making you feel special!! This guy shouldn't be at the front desk! He should be in charge of Guest relations! Any guest has a problem...CALL YAZ!!! Bottom line is, this hotel deserves more credit than it gets. Pool is stunning and well looked after, and the beach of course is beautiful! Its the same beach as all the hotels lol!! I would definitely go Back!

I’ve visited Cuba several times, my second stay at this resort. Very run down. Elevators don’t work. My senior parents had to endure a lot of stairs. They broke their toilet seat first day, was replaced last day. Although sunwing rep got involved still took two more days to get a room toilet seat. Their room door only opened half way due to floor budging. My kids had to change rooms twice, once for shower leaking all over floor, hole in shower stall wall. Second time for bugs. The vent full of bugs and every time a/c came on the bugs filled the main room. Third room had no shower head holder, had to hold head to shower. My room was in working order but very dirty. There are no daily towels, maid just says “none today”. Out of the three rooms we had spread out over resort nobody’s toilets cleaned or beds changed. Coffee bar cleans cups in sink with old rag and no soap, just rinse and reuse. Pool bar same. Main buffet same food everyday. Chinese a la carte good. La Bistro is Buffett food. Staff unfriendly. Reception not helpful. Manager doesn’t speak English. Pool so gross, not cleaned. Beach bar and beach snack shack never open as per posted sign hours. Beach lovely but 3-4 staff there won’t get lounge chairs for anyone. They just sit in the back doing nothing. I offered one of them 5$ to get me chairs, he refused. Overall staff lazy and resort dirty. Sewer smell lower floors.no entertainment squad, no sport’s equipment, no dancing or beach aerobics, no music until later in evening. No Cuban atmosphere.

Whats the right thing go do here. People/service are nice and beach is nice. It ends there. Building is rough, food just edible. I made the best of a bad situation. Ya get what u pay for. I dont like to talk badly, but its not good for a week vacay.

Our travel agent asked us if we were ok with a more budget friendly resort. We have been to Cuba many times so we weren’t really worried about a budget resort. Yes the hotel is on the older side but it wasnt too bad. We were warned about all the shortages but we didn’t find to many issues with that. Food was great. The normal options fish shrimp chicken pork rice and pasta. Staff was very friendly. Beach was great, much better than how cold the pool was. Resort was more on the quiet side so we walked into town and went to the local clubs. Remember this time in Cuba you can have a few cooler days so pack a few warmer items. But over all it was good.

I love the cuban people, And it's such a beautiful country, So I wouldn't want to leave a review that makes things worse. Unfortunately things have changed since the pandemic, it's bad! This was my 2nd time at this resort, the last time was 5 years ago, things have changed significantly. The food is much worse, way less options. Only 1 Ala Cart, and a snack bar with almost NO options at all. The rooms and property have fallen apart. These things are all to be expected. The cuban dictatorship always had a strong hold on the people, but they have recently taken over full control of ALL resort business. All I can say, it seems as if the wonderful soul of the Cuban people has been completely trampled. Not a smile, not even 1 happy person. I feel horrible slamming them, but this was by far the worst vacation I've ever had. I have very realistic expectations for Cuba, but they took away all the go to items. No fries, or hot dogs or pizza, no burgers, just an incredibly sad buffet. The room was in horrible disrepair smelled of raw poop, and had mild everywhere. Until the Cunban government allows the Cuban people to shine their spirits again, I'd avoid Cuba all together. I spoke to people staying at much nicer resorts that spoke of the exact same issues on my bus. There is no difference from the most expensive place to the cheapest place except for slightly nicer property, The government has literally ruined destination and worse, Ruined the beautiful spirits of its people. I was almost moved to tears, seeing a resort I stayed at only 5 years ago, in such a state. It was dark and raining whe I checked in, I was told a room number and pointed in a general direction. It took me 3 trips back to the lobby soaking wet, and 40 minutes to find my room. The signs were all blank from the name change, and it was not a great start. SUNWING has also declined alot, no food service anymore. And the flight times horrible, arrive passed dinnertime and no food on plane, almost a whole day no food, and then departure is so early u miss breakfast b4 your shuttle, and snow food on plane. Basically 2 days of ur trip you're expected not to eat. My maid was amazing, her name was Milady, she was the only person who seemed to hold onto what used to be. I spent some time talking to some cuban locals and they confirmed everything I am saying. That things were never great in cuba, But they've never been this bad. It's a cuban Doesn't start doing trade and opening up the market so that the cuban people Can sustain themselves, I fear the absolute worst for its people. I have been to cuba nine times, And sadly I would not return even if it was free. The mold in my room caused me to develop a very bad respiratory illness on my last day, I've been home 2 days and coughing non stop, doctor says I have Atypical pneumonia, from either mold or bacteria. My legs are destroyed from sand flea on beach, big what look like burns. It was wet season so it rained an hour here or there, but they had no staff to squeegee the puddles, so there were puddles everywhere on the paths and near the rooms, causing me to get probably 100 misquoto bites, all while they have a huge Denge Fever and Zika outbreak. The food was honestly a 2/10, rooms 3/10, property 4/10, and service 2/10. Overall, a generous 3/10. It honestly pains me to say this, But spend the extra little bit of money and had to the dominican republic instead.

I don't know if you have ever been to this resort but your best bet is to stay away! All carriers are selling it for a 3+ STAR but it is a 2 and that is being generous! The grounds are beautiful and that was it! The food was a 2 and I know what I'm talking about because I have been there over 30 times! This resort is overrun by RUDE so called RICH CUBANS ( as the employees tell us) they even dislike like them but they get the best of everything! The Buffet has been taken over by COCKROACHES and into all the food . The staff would try and kills them if they seen them on the floor . I can't tell you how many we killed on the floor on our chairs and table! It was so bad that we couldn't eat there! We would take hard bread back to our room to eat .. We only had butter in the morning. No milk some days for tea or coffee . No toast! You could not take a child down there for a week because there would be not for them to eat except rice. Our bathroom in our villa the toilet ran for almost the whole 2 weeks we were there and every morning our room was soaked with water everywhere! I have pictures of the cockroaches, the toilet and other things. You need to change your rating on the and others to a 2! This place is disgusting!!!! 🤬 For what we paid I feel Air Transat should reimburse us something! I haven even told you about the Cubans and how bad it was! By the way my travel companion was sick for 4 days and couldn't get out of bed. She is still sick here at home and I betting it's due to the cockroaches and fly shit all over the food! I would appreciate any kind of email from Air Transat! By the way the Air Transat Rep was there for 2 days and when we complained to him he was the new guy . He also told us that the Cuban people have already shut down to resorts already and he thinks that Hotel Villa Cuba is next! Be Live Experience Varadero is now bankrupt so we are told .. Sorry if this is not what you are looking for but we need someone to do something! We have a lot more to tell but I'm hoping someone from Air Transit will contact Pam and myself .. Thank you

We have been going to this resort since 2003 and over the last few years it has been going down hill but this time was the worst…. the Richer Cubans are given priority in Villas, especially with pools, the beer at the pool bar was watered down with soda, the buffett was completely loaded with cockroaches…our rooms were cleaned daily but the sheets were definitely stained, our toilet leaked from the tank and we reported it… nothing was done… we had to put towels on the floor around the toilet to not fall or slip in the water, the re was a Canadian return patrons dinner that was put on by the public relations department … the dinner was lovely but the public relations person basically sat at 1 table all evening and didn’t even ask at the end of the evening if a good time was had… she basically ignored the rest of the patrons… the ramps to the beach are being slowly replaced but are very unsafe… many of the staff have been at this resort for years and become our friends… they also see that their resort is not good but they are not able to say or do anything about it… it is a very sad situation

Be live Experience was amazing, Cuba is a fantastic, safe wonderful place. We did have some confusion on our flight, our visas for cuba where not handed out properly and information shared from flight crew was misleading. After waiting for documents we got in. I blame Covid and online vaccine misinformation for this. Great time anyway Cheers.

Sad to say we did not enjoy our trip. The actual resort was nice and people were great but we had many things stolen from our room. We will not be going back or recommend this resort to anyone in the future.

Nothing much has changed since Covid stay.We started the stay with a room with the safe door hanging off(broken),and a door that had to be slammed nearly off the hinges to lock.We found this out when the motel room door was wide open in the morning.We changed rooms the second day,after a lot of pleading.The food was the same for tthe duration of our 14 day stay.All in all,it was pretty disappointing,with the exception of not having to get the phony covid Test.

The resort and the room were very clean and I had a nice trip. Personnel was friendly and entertainment every night. The music or sound was loud which we already told the reception. The fact that we could go and eat at the other hotel Los Mortas was good too.

I was surprised the resort had the food a d drinks they did considering the hardship in cuba to find items off resort. the staff continues to be the best it was our 5th time to the resort I would like to see more food variety here it seems to be the same everytime

For a resort called “Be Live Experience” it wasn’t quite the live experience... The description on the websites withhold useful information such as the fact that the disco on the resort isn’t open most days. Also, the entertainment is random and often missed, besides the evening. The only way this resort could be semi enjoyable is if you book your trip for the weekend there, as weekdays are a waste. Also, hold onto your beach towels because the staff will secretly take it then make you pay 20$ CAN. when you check out of the hotel. The key cards to get into your room don’t work sometimes so you have to constantly go to the front desk for another one, just be prepared for the unfriendly hospitality. Overall, the beach is the main attraction as well as the mini beach bar that is open from 11pm-7am. You’re gonna need a lot of alcohol in order to enjoy it.

We went there last year and it was much better and cleaner, the food was much better with a lot of variety. This year the food was very bad and hygiene wise all the plates not clean properly, beds in the room all the sheats are dirty and itchy you feel something is bitting you all over your body like bed bugs we came back home and all our bodies were itching like crazy. We're very disappointed we will never go back there again. all our body is full of red marks an itching from the bed bugs and from the food and from dirty dishes.

I did not have any expectations when we booked this hotel, it was New years and we booked on price. It was clean and staff helpful and friendly. There was always something to eat and my husband and I enjoyed the 2 a la carte restaurants. There is a local bus that runs downtown from the hotel for a few dollars - that was convenient. Would I stay here again- only if the price was right. I know Be Live has recently taken over this hotel so maybe improvements are in the works. We took a day trip into Havana ( booked thru Sunwing on the plane) they delivered what they promised, however I wish we had more free time so keep that in mind when you are book a day trip. The guide kept us moving for the whole day and there is very little time to go off by yourself. I do love CUBA- the beach is wonderful, it's safe, people are friendly.

We loved the Resort because it's clean and with in walking distence of Varadero. They are constantly cleaning day and night. The landscapers are at work daily. Always plenty to eat at the Buffet and don't forget to book your special dinner nights. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment and that fact they occasionally include the audience.

Hotel was fun. Typical day, get up late around 7 to 8 go to the coffee bar, buffet, lather up and head to the beach. After enjoying the most beautiful beach in the world, shower, buffet, pool bar, entertainment, visit with new friends, people watch, bed and repeat. All days were not typical as there was the hop on and off bus days with Varadero town restaurants, more people watching and the list goes on and on, just try it and you will see.

Good value for the money we paid. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Beach is nice. Food a bit repetitive but you can get buy. Lots of French Canadian and Russians. Smoking is allowed in public areas. Overall a nice vacation.

This trip was a second one this year to the same resort . First one we have delay of 6 h for the departure and we lost a lot of precious time but the resort was nice so we decide to go again after 8 months. Second trip was very disappointing since there was no towels in the rooms , food was less variety and always something missing. On top of that the hola sun representatives should book our paid trip to caves Matanzas for Wednesday, we waked up early and when bus stop our name wasn’t on the list. After that repetitive was nowhere to find all the way until we left . I will never go to the same resort again. One more thing, this resort is listed as a family resort but group of 60 people from Quebec was naked on the beach doing improper things for kids view.

Was not very pleased with the resort. Food was aweful, no hot water for 2.5 days, had to hide the toilet paper (if you had a few squares they would not replace or leave a new roll) we had to go to public bathrooms just to get some. The towels they gave you for a shower were the size of hand towels. We had to use our pool towels. The bath tubes were disgustingly dirty we had to wear our sandles in the shower. And tones of aunts...be sure to bring raid to spray your rooms The beach was beautiful and clean and they staff was very friendly

Some rooms are not renovated. Ground and beach are beautiful. Food is ok , maybe repetitive, especially nowdays you can feel crisis. Servis is ok, but they are missing a lot of stuff. Mostly of clients were from cuba , South America and Russia , so you will expect noise ,cigar butts and plastic cups allover the place. The worst thing is that SMOKING is allowed inside main building!!?

We had been in Cuba five times and this was the 3rd time we chose this hotel , the beach is beautiful and all stuffs are very nice , we enjoy a lots to spent time in this resort ,we will come back again .

My recommendation is to stay as far away from this hotel as possible. After reading the reviews most were 4 and 5 star review (which I can only assume are fake reviews), I had a bit of hope for this resort, so we booked it for our 20th Wedding Anniversary (HUGE MISTAKE), however this hotel is worse than a rent by the hour hotel in Toronto (at least in Toronto they seem to clean their sheets or so I have been told). I have been to Cuba (Holguin) prior and was expecting it to be pretty much the same, talk about a letdown when we arrived at the hotel it was pretty late in the evening so we really couldn't see the state of the hotel, we were checked into our room 2513, and upon entering we noticed that the walls and ceilings were covered in BLACK MOLD. Given that it was late we decided to wait until the morning to talk to the front desk about being switched rooms as I was having problems breathing due to being Asthmatic. We went down in the morning to switch and got a bit of attitude until I said it was difficult for me to breathe, they then switched us to room 2703, however, in order to move to the room my husband had to stay in the new room while I went to the old room to pack up our stuff and bring it over as we were not allowed keys to 2 rooms at the same time, after we had made the switch we were then given the keys to the new room. The only good thing about the new room was the view. There was still a lot of problems with the room, severe mold on the walls and ceiling, dried blood on the bathroom wall (was there the entire week), blood on the comforter, blood on the sheets, the mattress was more like a box spring than a mattress, the pillows smelled like mildew and mold, the shower head in the bathroom is white and crusty from the water, the tub was supposed to be pink, but was almost black (you didn’t get a shower without wearing your shoes). The in room air conditioner barely worked and it constantly dripped water right in the middle of the hallway, if you weren’t careful when walking (like when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom) you would slip on the water. The resort: We were able to finally see what the resort looked like from the outside and all I can say is it is falling apart, and no one is doing anything about the repairs except to slap a coat of paint over the mold and state that they are refurbished rooms. If you walk out of the resort down the ramp towards the pool all you can smell is the septic system (you can’t flush toilet paper down at this resort). There are many areas around the main hotel that smell like urine, this is because parents tell their kids to just pee against the trees or in the grass rather than taking them to the washroom. The resort washroom, if you must use one outside of your room I suggest using the washroom on the 2nd floor heading towards the buffet, it is the cleanest of all of them. Stay away from the main lobby washroom (4th floor) this washroom doesn’t seem like it is cleaned more than once a day and the bins are over flowing with dirty/used toilet paper. The pool: while looks beautiful and has plenty of chairs for suntanning (about 70), there are only 7 umbrellas, there are 2 sections where there is shade under the palm trees, however on day 3 there they cut all the leaves off of 2 of the trees leaving only one spot for shade. There is no swim up bar which in my opinion is a good thing, however you still have many people, both adults and kids staying in the pool from open to close 9am to 7pm. The water in the pool was always clean and clear and while it was very warm water, it did make you feel refreshed in the hot sun. Just a side note: They spray pesticides from a plane once or twice a week, this plane ends up dropping the pesticide into the pool which people then swim in. Buffet Las Dalias (the main buffet): I can only say one thing about the food STAY AWAY. The level of cross contamination is insane here, they have one set of tongs, which they use to pick up fish, beef and pork with, they then it cook it on a grill and serve it to the customers. I had them cook pork (well done) and when it was put on my plate it smelled sour. The buffet consists of the following items, 4 different types of buns, 4 different types of bread loafs, 2 types of pasta including red sauce (very very sweet) or a white sauce (no flavour) and you can add mushrooms, onions, cheese, peas, tri-vegetable mix. There are 3 to 4 types of cold meats, 4 types of cheese. Vegetables consist of cucumbers, lettuce, olives. There are a few seafood selections (not sure of what type as I don’t eat it). On the hot buffet, there are 3 types of rice, a beef hash (ground beef and vegetables in sauce) fish, pork chops. There is also ice cream and a few desserts. Just consider that in order to get any of the food fresh you would have to go into the buffet the minute it opens as they run out of food constantly there (according to staff there is a food shortage). If you don’t like to eat early you will have slim pickings of what you can eat and most of it at that point has been touched by other people. People I met there choose to go into town to purchase their meals which says a lot about the level of food since they were willing to SPEND extra money just to eat. The pool bar/snack restaurant: This is the best place to fill your drinks if you wish to get slammed, in a 34-ounce bubba, 16 ounces of Rum, 14 ounces of another liquor, 2 ounces of juice and some ice. The best drink hands down were the non-alcoholic frozen lemonade. Be prepared when waiting for a drink to be aggressive as the people will just keep pushing in front of you, if you tip the gentleman working behind the bar, he will remember your face and will actually serve you over the rude customers. Around the back of the bar is the snack counter most of the time the only thing you can get is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, they started to add eggs to the mix on day 3 there. On day two of our trip they had hamburgers, these were absolutely delicious they are served to you with cucumbers and cabbage add a bit of their “ketchup” and “mustard” and you could live on these if they offered them regularly, but sadly we never saw them offered again. The beach bar: We only visited this bar once, it is just a few steps (maybe 60) from the beach, the drinks seemed decent and the staff was friendly. Just outside of this there was a “booth” where they were selling rum & coconut drinks out of the actual coconut (not sure cost didn’t buy one). The Beach: Hands down the best spot at this resort. The beach is crystal blue with white sand (beware it gets very hot during the day will burn the bottom of your feet) very clean. There are plenty of lounge chairs and lots and lots of shade. The guys that operate the included items (kayak, paddle boats, catamarans) seem friendly, they will try to push a snorkeling trip on you for 20 CUC’s each person, once you decide that you won’t do it, they really aren’t that helpful. I tried twice to get on the catamaran and both times was told they were closing one was at 4pm (apparently closing due to Thunder, the other was a 12pm, and this time the guy was closing for 1.5 hours for lunch) We took out a paddle boat and were told we could use it for 30 minutes but not even 10 minutes into it we were being told to bring it back in as they were closing. My husband was able to take out the Kayak twice and really enjoyed it. There are very few fish at this beach and the few there are will follow you as you move around, it seemed like a sort of tag game with them. The Bistro: This is an ala carte menu restaurant, while the staff is very helpful, they have once lady who seats you and takes your order, another younger lady who serves your drinks and cleans up your plates and a gentleman who delivers the food and gives you buns and butter when you are first seated. We went to this restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary (prearranged with Dania public relations). The staff decorated the table beautifully with pink ribbons, beautiful white flowers, silver stars, rose petals and white hearts. Both my husband and I had the cream of asparagus soup, the pork in fruit sauce (onion gravy) and the chocolate cake for dinner, they then surprised us with a beautiful cake that we were able to take up to our room after dinner. The soup was amazing, my pork was served to me pink and when I say pink I mean there was still blood in it, this was sent back to be cooked further, the pork is served with one table spoon of real mashed potatoes and one table spoon of mashed sweet potatoes. Hands down this was the best meal we had eaten at the resort. El Cononial (Lobby Bar): This bar is a quiet bar, they have live music in the evenings, you can also get flavoured water here (coconut, papaya and cucumber). The bartenders here are a little stricter when pouring the alcohol so you won’t get smashed off one drink. Here your drinks are served in glasses and you are not supposed to take them away, if you do just remember to bring the glass back. El Bamboo (Asian style ala carte): didn’t get to experience, we were not able to get a reservation. Coffee bar (main lobby): this is where you get all different types of coffees, the closest coffee we found that we could drink which didn’t taste and look like tar was the Americano. In the morning they also serve donuts at this location. Overall: This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some pretty bad ones. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone as it is in dire need of repairs and quality control for the food.

We stayed in the villa at the be live Varadero, worst resort ever. First the room was dirty. There was no chair I the room I sat on the bed and it touched the floor. The box spring was broken and I had to sleeep in it all week. The shower doors in the bathroom were falling off and broken and thin was so dirty I was scared to step into it. The air confounding system I the room had mold all in and out of it. . The first day there he power went out and we had no air conditioner or running water to flush toilets . There is no hot water to shower with . They fit. Leave you toilet paper or a bottle water of everyday so you have to go buy it . The food is the worst part. It has the smallest buffet ever with very few items and it never changes. It is awful you have live in bread. Myself and my parent we got sick from the food and drinks that we could Only eat bread and drink water in the end. The bathrooms throughout the resort are so dirty and smelly . I would never again go back or refer this resort to anyone it was the worst vacation ever

My whole experience was quite enjoyable. I did not go in with over the top expectations because I had read all the reviews but my room turned out to be exactly what I expected and the food was not bad at all! I got to even try out the restaurant across the street which I highly recommend! The staff were friendly and helpful and the beach was BEAUTIFUL. I highly recommend this resort for a cozy and comfortable vacation

This was my 10th trip and my 12th stay at Las Morlas . All my visits have been very , very favourable. Every one there knows me. From the Bosses to the gardeners . I am always greeted with "Welcome home Leila ". I always refer my friends to go to the BEST Hotel in Varadero . The hospitality is super and food is comparable to no other hotel in Varadero . I will stay at none other than Las Morlas .

The room in the hotel was very nice, but the bathroom needed a little bit of freshening up. The food in the buffet was good at the beginning, however, it was exactly the same during the entire week so we got tired of the food. We booked at the Chinese restaurant and found it to be extremely good, so we ate there two times. The layout of the resort is great as there is not too much walking. The ocean of course is the best! The bar choice is limited. I do not recommend going in June because it was very humid and we were bitten alive by the mosquitos.

The hotel was beautiful. We were in a villa near the beach. Grounds were well kept everyone was friendly and helpful. The gym could use a makeover most of the equipment is old and broken. Always lots to eat and a good variety. We ate at the bistro one night food was awesome. The lady who works at the gym massage place is very helpful.

Clean rooms, good happy staff/service for the most part Never had issues with hot water or toilet paper :) clean beach, awesome ocean!! Never had problems finding food from early am to late pm. This resort always had ice which is a bonus! I did Run into an issue with theft and not much was done about it . But I guess who took the money/shoes needed it more than I do..

This was a great resort. It was very clean, very friendly staff and great food. The beach was amazing. Would definitely recommend this resort and would stay here again. Nice large room and great entertainment

This resort is clean, the public bathrooms always had toilet paper and soap to wash your hands. Our room was nice and we loved the location of the resort. It is close to downtown and within walking distance for us (15 minutes). The staff were very helpful and always happy. The restaurants were clean and operated on time. The A La Carte restaurants were some of the best we have been to before. The beach was kept clean and there were always shade to be had. We have been to this resort in 2012 when it was called Villa Cuba and will definitely go back again.

The resort was absolutely beautiful, was extremely clean all things considering. If you are okay with ants and things like that the villa is definitely the way to go. If you are not a fan then the hotel would be the spot for you. The staff is extremely funny and very upbeat definitely made the trip much more enjoyable. All around great trip at a great resort surrounded by great people.

My wife and I stayed at Be Live Experience Varadero (Villa Cuba) for five days between April 13 - 18. We arrived with moderate expectations but sadly disappointed even further throughout our stay. We already started rating this place the moment we stepped off our bus, beginning at 3.5 but it all went downhill from there to the point that we were looking for flights to go home on our third day, and our rating of this place dropped as low as below Zero (0) to minus -3.5, sadly, TripAdvisor has no settings for that. If you are considering to stay at this place, this resort should pay YOU. Building and Structure - Rating 1*: The moment we pulled up, you can tell this place is extremely dated. Understandably, in Cuba, dated is fine, but neglected is another matter. Cracks, leaks, uneven floors, missing tiles, name it, you'll see it. Staff and Service - 2*: Some were decent, some were indifferent, and some were just disrespectful. Everyone (except for that ONE old guy at the Coffee Bar, he was very nice) behind the counter from the front desk to the bar were unfriendly, unapproachable, and gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing them. The ladies behind the front desk counter are constantly socializing with each other. They would continuously speak to each other in Spanish WHILE serving us. I once stood at the snack bar by the pool hoping to order some food, and the server behind the counter did not even acknowledge my presence. The server could see me clearly in front of him, and no word of a lie, he just outright ignored me but served the guy that came up behind me. Room and Accommodation 1*: Upon arrival, we paid for an upgraded room, which was located in the main building close to the Coffee Bar. We were shocked by the state of our room. The panel ceiling was falling down in the bathroom, I fixed one of the tiles that came off the side of the tub, the air conditioning had a very strong mold scent. Understandably, that accommodations in tropical climates demand that the A/C be running constantly, however, the strong scent of mold was unbearable that my wife's allergies began to make her sick. If you like feeling springs in your mattress, this is the room for you. There was also this constant leak coming from the ceiling that made a pond on the bathroom floor. Cleanliness 0*: This place is not clean. We had to buy and bring our own soap because the bathrooms in the common areas such as the one near the buffet restaurant, by the pool bar, and the lobby either had one tiny bar of soap that we had to search for or no soap at all. Food 1*: Expect the same thing served at lunch to be the same thing served at dinner. The food was bad, as expected but this is not what you come to Cuba for. Oily croutons are offered as a late night snack by the snack bar. Beach - 4.5*: The beach was nice. This was the only redeeming quality about this resort. Plenty of lounge chairs. There are spots where there's loud music and some spots are quieter. OVERALL: We're thankful we did excursions over three days so we did not have to stay at the resort the whole time. We would recommend staying somewhere else and avoid this resort.

The beach is beautiful food in restaurants amazing, you can find food from every country Rooms are good only maids do not maintain properly live Cuban music during lunch every day yoga on the beach service at the bar and restaurants are beautiful with plenty of chaise beautiful umbrellas I think I'll go again :)

The resort was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good as well. I have been to Cuba a couple times and I am happy with my experience at this resort. Only downfall was only 1 main pool and not as much entertainment as other places.

Where do I begin? Food is awful, staff has the tendancy to give attitude and be very rude. To the lengths of something as simple as asking for another napkin. Rained one night, got electricuted by turning on a light. Was refused drinks because we asked for too many at once. Towels and toilet paper were given but very limited. The beach wasn't a far walk and was beautiful. Best bartending was at the beach bar. Only place to be able to get a drink without getting attitude. Rooms were decently modern, some things look a bit older than others but for the most part they were okay. Resort is deadsville absolutely nothing to do a certain moments. Resort has potential but can really use a whole facelift to bring it up to date as much as possible.

This was one of my favorite trips to Varadero. The resort was lovely, our room was clean and close to everything and the service was outstanding. I really liked how close it was to downtown. We went on many adventures on the hop on hop off bus and enjoyed the relaxed feel to this resort. Beds were comfy and air conditioning worked great. We never had problems with water pressure and always had lots of hot water for showers. The pools were beautiful and always clean....we were pleased that you could use pools till 7pm....alot of resorts close their pools earlier. We would definitely return to this resort.

We had a great vacation, but first night we were put in the villas, although we had bought the normal hotel rooms. All the villas we saw were old, dated and grim looking. Next day we were given a nice main hotel room. Food is OK, but not great. Beach is awesome. Hotel is close to Varadero town. Recommend a trip to Calle 62 club.

Be Live Experience Varadero was a nice hotel with decent food options. The pools were nice and there was no issue with getting chairs. The beach was gorgeous and activities were fun. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Our only issue was that cigarette smoke kept coming into our room through the bathroom vent. Overall, we really enjoyed our two weeks at this resort and would go again.

We had an excellent vacation at the Be Live Experience Varadero Cuba. The resort was small which was a plus. There was no line up at the Buffet or the Pool Bar. Plenty of beach chairs and Palapas to use for shade on the beach. Very clean and well kept. The only complaint is the line up in order to book an Al la Carte restaurant. You could only book for 1 hour each morning with incredible line ups. The Buffet was our choice as we could not book the others. The food was good and plentiful in the Buffet. 2 restaurants behind pool bar and an all night restaurant open at 11 p.m Both outdoor restaurants serving hamburgers and hot dogs as well as grilled ham and cheese. Clean beach as well

The villa was very well, old but very clean. Staff was great and all our demandes were fur filled. We would go back, and recommend this place to any one that looks beyond luxury. Buffet and snack bars menus were always the same, we found our favorites and never went hungry

We were happy with our choice of resorts this year. Be Live Experience (Villa Cuba) is a good size resort with a choice of hotel rooms and villas. We had chosen the villas as we like to be outside as soon as we open door of our room, but we were put in a hotel room when we got there around 9:30 in the evening. We protested that we had booked a villa but were told none available at the moment and that we were sure to like hotel much better. Next day, we went to reception to ask to be changed to a villa which they agreed they would do. We were shown a villa which was perfect for us but had to wait until maid had done the room. All in all, we lost more than half a day with this change! We thoroughly enjoyed this room but be aware that it might get noisy as you never know who is in the other rooms of the villa. As for the food, it is very satisfactory, as well as the service. And the beach is great! Thank you to the tall guy at reception, the bellman, and Angela at the buffet.

First off when we reached the hotel the rooms that we saw online were nothing like this room. Hotel was run down room was run down hotel falling apart. Water stopped running and electricity stopped working at least 3-4times in the section we were staying around supper time when you really want to take a shower and it’s getting Dark outside, like we were rejects cause half of the hotel is Renovated and half isn’t they placed us on the side that was not renovated. I woke up to bugs crawling on me while I slept. Spoke to the receptionist who said he couldn’t do anything to speak with “public relations”. Claiming the whole hotel is booked which was impossible. We finally changed rooms the day before we had to leave and even that room had ants crawling every where on the tables the walls and the ground!!! Customer service and management is a big zero. Food wise most items were cold and under temperature. Animation and pool activities boring. No I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone. If I had of known I wouldn’t have booked there not how I wanted to spend my birthday week :(

Grounds were nice. First room 533? Broken safe, phone didn’t work. Second room 514 was ok, maid did a good job but on her day off relief forgot toilet paper. There was no handle on the outside of the patio door, l reported it but never put on. The light outside the entrance was out and I reported it several times. In the 14 days we were there the light worked on three days only. The food was good, except on the few days that there was bacon it was very uncooked. Ice cream was never hard always like cream but still tasted ok. The buns were very fresh. Would liked to see more fruit like apples pears etc. The sand was very soft ant the water very good. The bathroom could use a toilet brush as it all doesn’t wash away when flushed. The staff at the bars and the restaurant were very cheerful and always had a smile.

Since this was my first vacation, I had the most amazing experience! Live music every night and activities during the day was outstanding! Everyone was so courteous and friendly and very helpful and patient considering the fact I speak a little bit of Spanish. Best time of my life so far! Would love to go again

Staff was super friendly food was bad but rooms were clean entertainment was not very good the pool was cleaned beach was nice had good coffee pretty close to town so that was nice had elevators but were spotty at best not at all a good place for people with handicapped as there were tons of stairs wherever you went you had to climb stairs not a lot of food choices breads were the best on the menu front desk not friendly at all unles you spoke Spanish always had peso on hand I’m use to better resorts but for a mother daughter cheap vacation it was ok if you go without expectations it will be fine also bring food with you three out of five of us got bad bellies

This hotel is trying to do it's best to keep up with the other resorts .. This is a beautiful place to go but if you are looking for a 4 + this is not the place for you ... We go there so often because we know what to expect and we rather like it there ... This hotel is really cleaning up as best they can .. It is getting there .. The staff is always amazing and will do the best they can to make you happy .. The food is changing for the better but the dishes and glassware could use extra cleaning ... I would like to see new dishwashers come to this resort and not have the waiters wash our silverware where they stand when cleaning off our plates ... The gardens are coming back after the hurricane in Nov. The gardener's are always hard at work rain or shine you will always see them out .. Hard working people in Cuba and the friendliness you will ever meet .. Like I said, if you are looking for a 4+ this is not your resort .. but if you are looking for a quiet and friendly 3* then you found it!

It was a full send kinda resort, brought the group of friends and a whole week worth of booze, and cool bartenders like Santiago. Note food, was edible, but they ran out of hot dogs our week. The food could have been better, but we went for the private villas, and booze.

First time to Cuba and loved it, service was good and the pools and villas and over all views were better, some of the furniture in the villas were falling apart like dressers but no big deal your not going there to hang out in the room. Most of the staff was great but some of them looked a little salty if you didn’t tip every time even if you just tipped generously an hour before. Half to say though almost all of them were great in English, no language barriers were an issue. It was a great experience met some amazing people and the staff was very accommodating to our group ordering lots of drinks and brought them over to our table tray after tray.

This hotel is old but is slowly getting some upgrades...we have been here 21 times and it has been improving over the past 3 years since being purchased by the Be Live Hotels. The people are amazing, the beach is incredible, the accommodations are adequate and very clean. We did have problems with our villa not having any water at all 2 days but only for a few hours at a time....always at the end of the days when people were requiring showers and getting ready to go out for supper. It is at best a 3 star hotel but we love the proximity to the town

Hotel grounds were nice but somewhat dated. Rooms are ok. Typical Cuba so it is to be expected. Bathrooms need updating but the A/C was extremely good. Hotel staff were amazing and made the trip worthwhile. Short 25 min walk to downtown Varadero.

I found the washrooms very small in the pool bar area , I have been at this resort before and would return again. Wonderful staff . Good shows nightly and afternoon I did the tour of Halvana and enjoyed it very much

Everyone was very accomdating..the beach was great and a special thanks to Esnay and Harleys from the entertainment staff. A special thanks to the head chef Mr Boris for our amazing dinner. My only concern was that out rooms air conditioning was not working and flooded our room..but it was fixed quickly

Dining was good, snack bar was bad, room & balcony were spacious, mattress was terrible, air conditioning fell directly on the bed which was quite miserable with a continual draft hitting me. Changed rooms the next day as I wanted a room on upper floor and the room was in bad shape, the next room had been renovated but still time lost on my vacation to meet with reception several times to get a new room. The pool was small and shallow, didnot use it. The bar had a good selection of drinks but there were not softdrinks or water in refrigerator. The first day received a bottle of water which we had to go to restaurant or bar to have refilled for the 7 days or buy bottled water at store, same thing for coke or juice, we always had to go out to get something to drink which was bothersome. Beach was great but I would not go back as it is inconvenient to lose time for room changes as reception was not very helpful. I also like to have drinks in the room, why put a fridge in the room without any service.

I will make this review as detailed as possible for potential guests. First off, the entrance is really nice. Very impressive, staff smiled and was friendly right away. Front desk ladies were full of smiles and spoke all languages. Unfortunately, the first thing they said was that our room wasnt ready :( we spent our first night in a community villa that had many small rooms with 2 double beds. Not happy. Good for a family but not a couple (although not all villas are bad) entire first day was spent in and out of lobby waiting for a room that was not ready until after 4. We met many others upset at the lobby fighting with front desk reception that didnt deserve to get the ear full. Again, not happy. My bf and I ended up getting a gorgeous room looking out to the stage and wonderful pool. The problem was that we had to jam 5 days into 4 as our beautiful room was handed to us late. The room was clean and well maintained although all toilets in resort and around Cuba required paper to be thrown into garbage which was rather disgusting and outside of the resort women would stand outside of washroom asking for money in exchange for toilet paper. I recommend bringing napkins and wet wipes to be safe. Grounds were always clean, excursions were a blast, and we met great people. We got there just in time for a cold front and beach was too dangerous to swim in due to high winds so 3 days of our 5 were also very cold. We had no choice but to stay in to drink and eat. The food in my opinion was grosse. I expected bad food but it was not edible in my opinion. My bf is less picky and ate the food anyways but I ended up getting sick on the first night after eating at the restaurant across the street for $25 CUCS each. Needless to say i ate fries and salad the rest of the trip **I recomend ketchup that you like** i brought mine and it saved my trip. The service in the cafe and restaurants were not very good either. No smiles, rude, and no manners. However, as mentioned, front desk and bar staff were very nice and polite. There were some cool amenities such as pool, table tennis, volleyball (although we didnt get to play as the beach was too windy to play). Very sad. In terms of the currency, for Canadians, please do not exchange your US cash. Bring Canadian cash. No one wanted to exchange our american money as they de valued the US bills less than $50 or $100. We were left without money some days as the only people who exchanged our cash were front desk and banks. That was also a shocker as they gave us less CUCs for the american dollar. Big waste of cash!! Big waste of time!! Now for the worst part, Be Live Resort is not organized well with sunwing. We had a flight that landed us in our hotel at 930p. There were no rooms because check out was at 4pm. So, we didnt have a room as a result. Jumping forward, our excursion the last day was from 8a- 430p but we had no place to shower or stay as we had to check out at 11am. It was a mess waiting for a room to shower before we took off. There must be a better way. We left very dissapointed with a very bad taste in our mouths (and i dont just mean the food). I would never return to Cuba after this trip and I hope to be compensated as I spent $900 for 5 days and lost one due to the disorganization that was definitely not my fault. Im yet to know who has the fault. Now Overall, the hotel is clean and very well put together looks and structure wise. Pool is beautiful. Beach looked beautiful. The staff and service was below par and the food was a 1 out of 5 in my books. And the overall experience was not worth the money we paid. Its worth it if you go for 1 week + and are willing to sacrifice a day or 2. If you go, I recommend the safari and catamaran excursions. I recommend walking to city 20 min away for a nice night out and cool local bars like Beatles and Calle 62 where there is dancing. I also recommend you bring spices, ketchup and pills for nausea or diarrhea. Hope this helps.

The grounds were great..food not so much..weather fantastic..location was good...Service was great..Bathroom in rooms plumbing very slow..broken hair blower they did not replace..took away did not bring back..

We had an ocean view room that was very comfortable, our housekeeper did an amazing keeping our room clean. The food in the buffet was good, I was surprised because of so many bad reviews on Cuban food. The entertainment was very good, both the afternoon and evening. We really enjoyed pool and the pool bar.

This Resort is nice & clean as the cleaning staff is always on top of the cleaning requirements... The food is good... Various types of Pasta is available for lunch & dinner... Along with Chicken, Fish, etc. and lets not forget the assortment of deserts... Breakfast, there is chefs making fresh Crepe's or Omelets, or if you prefer eggs Your Way... along with the various buffet style foods... (bacon etc.) Also I think it is Very Important to mention that this Resort is on the Beach, unlike some Resorts you have to go across the street to get to the beach... There is Nightly entertainment here... The people & staff are VERY FRIENDLY... If you go here Please remember to Tip the Chefs & your Servers... Be kind to them as they work very hard to please YOU...

Hotel was good I stayed in a villa which was very nice and well kept. Housekeeping did a good job. Beds were very comfy and thick and no issue with the air conditioning or water. The beach was very nice and close to my room and the hotel. The pool bar had good drinks and the snack bar he my favourite think French fries every day lol. The entertainment was very good and I always had something to eat at the buffet it is cuba. I meet other awesome Canadians Audet and Jan and Dawn who was a sweetheart for coming over to talk to me thanks. Can't wait for the next one in April and a special thanks to my travel agent for all her help and making the travel plans simple and easy thanks Martine Ried from trip central.

To be fair in this review we had one day of good weather the second was a torrential rainstorm and cold weather the rest of our week. 2pm in the afternoon was the only time I could don a bathing suit. The rest of the time I wore pants and the thick sweatshirt I flew down in. Early December is not the time to go to Cuba. Now the resort : We have been to Cuba 6 times and have always loved it but this was the worst. Food was terrible, bread dried out hot food chef was young inexperienced and couldn't care less. The hotel is sadly in need of updating. We stayed in 2602. Nice large room but right above the main stage which is placed right at the centre of the hotel so everyone hears the night show whether you want to or not. Front desk people were kind and we changed our room 3 times finally upgrading to the main hotel for 85.00 Cdn which was good since we stayed in the room to keep warm every night. No heat in the room so we turned on all the lights and tv and volume to heat the room. Drinks tasted like sweet water with alcohol added. All in all the worst experience in Cuba ever

I think this is a hotel where you really get value for your dollar. The room (in the hotel) was great, clean and a wonderful view from the balcony. The food was good. The pool was great and the ocean in walking distance. The beach was clean. The staff was great and helpful. The resort was clean. That is why it was the 4th time I have been to this hotel. Firstly I'd like to thank Janet Merrill at Tripcentral for hooking us up with a great deal for our first time in Cuba :-) . I highly recommend the Be Live Varadero Experience for a stay in Varadero . The staff wen't above and beyond to make our stay memorable and enjoyable . The food was absolutely delicious and the music was uplifting . The beach is a dream !!! This hotel is 19 years old and in desperate need of love. The employees are very nice and will do a lot to accommodate you. The food is not the best but was very decent. This hotel should be a 2 stars in my opinion, i had to change rooms 3 times to find a correct one. The last room had everything working but one of the 2 beds was totally worned out. The shows at night are good and diversified the animation team are doing a good job. The beach is Varadero beach so they are superb :)

I have been going to Be Live Experience Varadero since 2011 and I've never had issues there. The staff are very friendly and the resort is clean. One of the nicest beach I've ever seen. The food at the a la carte restaurant was amazing, the buffet was oky. The food at the buffet is good just repetitive. Will go back again and again.

Hotel was small. Room was decent but there were cockroaches and the drain system was terrible. The bath tub took forever to drain. And our toilet got clogged twice. Which was very disgusting. Food was 4/10.

I will never book to go to this resort ever again. I travel to Cuba yearly in different resorts over the past 7 years, this place had us very disappointed in the lack of entertainment and staff friendliness. When we landed in Cuba and went to get on the shuttle bus to take us to the resort, the driver had no room for us because our names were not even on the list, they did accommodate us only because we put up a fuss and didnt want to get left behind. so 3 seats (which belonged to the staff) where given up to us. Our air Transat rep didn’t even show up the next day (as the given times, and we waited 3 hrs) so we could book our excursions. and we could not book one as I didn’t even see Air Transat rep all week, we were very upset over this because apparently other reps can not help..so we have been informed.. The staff (except the waitresses in the restaurant) were very unpleasant. Almost like we are a bother to them! At one point the chef that was making our pancakes in the morning, made me feel so very uncomfortable, like I did something wrong by asking him where the maple syrup was; he gave back a very aggressive and ignorant answer " I said we look!!" myself and another traveler that was standing beside me both walked away and said we would wait for lunch. That was so rude!! The other chefs (all but one happy lady) seemed like they really didn’t want to be there, and they made it quite obvious they were unhappy. The Bar staff was the same. Our first 2 nights we asked for mojitos at the “Mojito Bar” and the response we got was just this “ No, No Mojito’s” finally we seen others have them so we got some. But every time we went to the bar we got served, but not without being made feeling like we owed them something. The entertainment was far to almost none. So Disappointing we got so bored that most nights we went back to the room and called it a night. It was honestly like staying at a retirement home for the week. The Grounds I will say were very well kept up, very beautiful. Snack bar open all day, and was better than the buffet. The beach was beautiful as always on Veradero beach. Our room was always kept clean, with clean towels daily. new AC so it was always a nice temp in the room. no complaints there. the beds were brand new mattresses, we watched them come in with new mattresses almost daily. Food Well lets face it.. we don't go to Cuba for the food, so I cant complain there; but what I can complain about is the fact it was just about the same things every day! like changing it up a bit wouldn't hurt..or even add a thing or two new daily. you get tired of seeing the same things day after day. Front desk staff were helpful and very kind. seemed to be willing to make their guests happy I will say that was pleasant. And at the end of our trip..we had no idea our flight was delayed so we sat in the lobby for hours waiting for a shuttle bus to take us to the airport, getting worried maybe we missed it by miss communication or something. but nope!! we were not getting picked up until late that night due to a flight delay in which not one person informed us of.. I had to call to find out myself. The front security person says to me " oh it right here on paper" NICE!!!! you see us sitting there for hours with our luggage and decide to then tell us WTH?? Overall Cuba is a beautiful place to vacation, I have always loved it and always enjoyed my resorts" all but this one!" we made the best of it and I will keep going back yearly, but will not be going back to this resort ever again. I will go where I know the staff is friendly, and they have things to do for us for entertainment.

We have stayed at this hotel many time. We enjoy the people and the close proximity to the town. Since it has been taken over by a different group renovations have started and many things have improved. It is not perfect but exactly what we are looking for

Turns out it's neither. Cuba has chosen to Be Live as anything else would simply be fake. This is a simple yet huge resort. The hotel rooms are a lot nicer than the villas so Be Smart when booking. You will get variety with food but Be Aware it only applies to the location of the food. Be Generous with the staff and you will get more bang for your buck. Be tactful when walking over to the beach mini mines are abound. Be thoughtful and don't feed the cats. Be patient as things run on Cuba time. Be amazed at the fun you will have.

The two reservable restaurants counterbalanced the main dining room very well. An excellent place all in all. I would easily return for another vacation here. The name is a bit wonky, however, but what's in a name?

The staff was rude , they locked us out of our room after we asked for a late check out and threaten myself and my husband, about keeping our passports and worst the room was full of bed bugs which we have photo proof of. I would like to speak to someone further about this as it was a VERY bad experience and I wouldn't suggest this place to ANYONE.

This was my very first time ever booking an all inclusive trip. Let alone it was my first time to Cuba. I can say for sure I will definitely do it all again. The staff was great and the service was as well. On our second day at the resort my girlfriend and I asked to switch from the Villa house we were in to a hotel room itself. Not only did the staff do this free of charge but they met all our requests and gave us a third floor room overlooking the pool and ocean. I would definitely recommend this resort and location to any and all who are interested. For my first ever all inclusive trip, I can guarantee I will be booking with you guys again. The best part about this trip was the price. For the price we paid everything is worth it from the food at the resort to the restaurants as well as the service and cleanliness of the entire resort.

We booked a last minute vacation to Be Live Experience Varadero (formerly Villa Cuba) through Trip Central. I often book on-line but ended up calling and talking to agent Anne Bovingdon. She was great and the service through Trip Central was impressive. They were in frequent contact via e-mail prior to our visit and called the day after we returned to make sure everything was good with the flight and hotel. We arrived at the hotel early, around 11 am, so I knew we wouldn't be checking in to our room right away. We stored our luggage and got a coffee then lunch. The fellow who helps with luggage was great and suggested we check back around 1:30. We did and he checked on the room and we were able to get in early, it was much appreciated. The beach is beautiful in Varadero. We usually were able to find a spot under a palapa or in the shade. It was usually more difficult in the mornings as people tended to reserve places by getting up early and placing their towels on chairs under palapas. We could usually find a place someone had reserved but was not using that was close enough to the palapa to offer shade. In the afternoon it was easier to find an empty palapa. We sat around the pool when the wind at the beach was so strong it was blowing the sand like waves. There was generally places available around the pool. We were in room 2627 and had a view of the water on the other side of the beach area. The room was newly decorated. Air conditioner worked fine. The maid Nery kept it clean and was a sweetie. We always had hot water, perhaps this had something to do with the time of day when we showered or that we generally had sunny weather. The only problems with the room was the water pressure wasn't the best and we ran out of soap and shampoo early on in the week. Buffet was fine, better than some and not as good as others. We always found something to eat and gained weight on the trip. The staff was great Roly was outstanding and we always sat in his section when he was working. We went to both a la carte restaurants. Book them on the second (I think) floor around 1:30. We had no problem booking them. Arletis, at Public Relations is who you book the a la carte restaurants through. She was great and seemed to be everywhere at the resort. We liked the Mariposa the best of the a la cartes. We ate most lunches at the Beach restaurant, La Sita. Juan Carlos Valdez was a great waiter there. It was relaxing to order off a menu, good food and if you were there at the right time, a good band. We also treated ourselves to a massage from Niurka. It was 20 CUC for 30 minutes and well worth it. Her co-worker Carlos runs the gym. Together they keep the area clean and inviting. This is also where the sauna is. We made two visits to the sauna. One was on our last day and offered a great place for a shower before our flight home. The staff at this hotel are special. We tipped but not excessive amounts. I found all the staff friendly and helpful at this resort, even the front desk, who are not always credited with being helpful or friendly. Tips: Bring your own soap and shampoo, it was a good thing I had my Lush shampoo bar to use as both. Also, if you like to read English books, bring two. I finished my book after a few days and assumed I would be able to exchange it for another book at the library by the Club House/Towel exchange. There was lots of books there, but none of them were English. I did manage to get one after a day or two. We will be back. Thank you for a great week. Although you can see some deterioration in the villas, they are kept reasonably clean. I missed having a hair dryer but survived for a week. The food was good with quite a variety. The staff in all areas were friendly and helpful. If there was ever an issue, the staff tried to resolve it as soon as possible.

Resort was great, was very big and had a good variety of food over all had a great time and would definently recommend this resort,it was close to markets and right on the beach, staff were very helpful and friendly

I was happy with the Be Live Resort. The villa rooms were not a spacious as I would have expected (but saw the villa room of another guest and it was very good on space). I was alone in a two bed room and that was OK but for two or more people tit would have been cramped. All the other resort amenities (pools, food, bars, beach, activities) were great. Would stay there again.

The resort is very clean and well looked after, some parts needing repair. Bathroom fixtures needing replacement in our room. Resturant's were very good, food was fresh and varied. All staff very friendly and helpful.

This hotel needs to be renovated. I've heard that some suites already are, but the one we had was not. The ceiling was coming down in parts, the bathroom was quite dirty, and there was some type of ant infestation. When my wife and I asked for a different room, they responded with the word "manana" which means "tomorrow". The staff would continue this indefinitely unless you decide to get upset. They also gave us a room with two single beds even though they could clearly see that we were a couple. When we requested a double, they responded with the usual "manana", or "joo come bak tomorrow, unkay?" The staff at many times can get very rude- for instance, in the cafeteria, there is a worker that cooks a few different types of meat for the customers. I witnessed the chef literally cook a piece of chicken for about 10 seconds on either side. The fellow who wanted it asked if the chef could please cook it longer, and the chef completely wigged out. He was yelling, swearing, pointing and was basically frothing at the mouth. Unprofessional behaviour, and everyone was shocked. I also had a few Cuban National Pesos that I tried to give to a barista at the coffee bar, and he basically threw it back in my face as it said that it was "nothing". I didn't see anybody else tip him, so I thought he would have appreciated it. I was wrong. Do not leave any items unattended, they will disappear really fast...And I mean fast, like "gone in 60 seconds". I brought my own hot sauce and it disappeared. The chef in the buffet tried convincing me that they threw it away, but I find that hard to believe. My wife's water bottle also mysteriously disappeared when she left for 2 minutes to go to the bathroom. The buffet food was absolutely atrocious! You will not see anybody in the dining room with a smiling face while eating this food. It gave me explosive diarrhea for about 3 days. There was so much water coming out of my behind that my wife thought that I was repeatedly flushing the toilet, but I wasn't! I was constantly bloated and very gassy. So gassy in fact, that it was impossible to hold in. My sphincter didn't have the strength to hold in so much compressed gas. After about 5 PSI, she gave way, and I found myself elevated off my chair by a few inches. A few days later, my wife got food poisoning and had diarrhea and vomiting concurrently, where she had to sit on the toilet and vomit into the garbage can. I met a about 5 other people at the resort, and they had a similar experience. The only good thing about the poor quality of the food is that you can meet tons of people at the buffet line because everyone was commenting about it. For instance, there was a dish there that was corn and beans that was impregnated into strawberry jello and sliced up. I met some Quebecois fellow that was brave enough to try it. He nicely reported back by stating that it was "very weird". The hours of the buffet are rather strange. Supper starts at 6:30 pm and ends around 9:30 or 10 pm. We were used to buffets being open all the time as people have schedules. Despite this, the beach bar was open, and served some basic snacks and rudimentary desserts. Be very careful about booking private tours to Havana. I asked our tour guide to take us to an authentic restaurant were Cubans eat. Instead, she took us to a westernized place that was extremely overpriced- around $30 USD or CUC per entree. There may be a cut for the people that bring you there, as my tour guide got very upset that we didn't eat there, even though we told her we didn't want to. You may want to stick to the bus that Sunwing provides. Also there is a fellow on the beach that will try to get you to go to the restaurant across the road- it's called Don Quixote. Very expensive and the person that recommends you will get a cut of this (he'll make you take a card with his number on it). It would be nice to be left alone on the beach so you can enjoy your day. All in all, we weren't impressed by the least. I stayed in Varadero 17 years ago, and since, then it appears to have gone downhill. It seems that they don't appreciate tourists and the money they bring into the country. We will be trying some place different next time. If you decide to book this hotel despite this review, then here are a few tips for you: 1. Take your own beach towel. If you lose theirs, they will charge you 15 CUC or $15 USD even though it may be at the resort. 2. Even though you have to declare it, take two way radios so you can communicate with people you travel with. We found this incredibly useful. 3. Rent a scooter from the resort next door, so you can drive around with some freedom. It's nice to get food from real Cuban restaurants in Santa Marta and Cardenas (not Varadero) so driving there is pretty neat. Costs $35 per 24 hours. 4. Book a Casa if you need 110 Volt electricity. All of the rooms in the resort are 220 Volt, so if you need to charge your ipad, phone, etc, it will be painful if you don't have 120 V. I needed my CPAP and it was a pain to get a transformer from the staff, and they always responded by saying "manana". 5. Exchange money at the Cadeca or Bank, not at the hotel. There are both in Varadero. You can get there by bus or rent a scooter. The hotel will only give you $13 CUC for $20 CAD. And if you want to change back, they will only give you the $13 CAD back (1 for 1 exchange rate). 6. The A La Carte restaurant booking people show up at about 1:30 pm. So they ruin your day. And sometimes they are late or don't show up at all. I waiting for the first day, and then they told me it was a holiday. Then on Tuesday, I went again, and then the hotel staff said the same thing. I finally ended up getting the booking for Wednesday, but had to wait in a huge line that went down the stairs all the way to the balcony. Great way to spend the afternoon! 7. Sunwing says that it is an 8 day trip, but I guess they count the time that you take off. So for instance, we left Canada on Saturday night, and left the following Saturday, but the flight left at 3 in the morning. So technically 8 days, but not really. And I had to check out on Saturday and spent 12 hours without a hotel room! Everyone was in the same boat and was hanging around the lobby with all their luggage. 8. The internet is a pain. There are only a few spots in the lobby that have Wi-Fi and you have to buy internet cards. If you need internet that is constant and dependable, then this isn't the place for you. 9. Bring insect repellent. The mosquitoes are very small and you won't even notice that you're getting bitten until your ankles start burning. 10. If you rent out a scooter, check out Santa Marta and Cardenas. We purchased excellent food in Cardenas at a restaurant called La Perla del Norte. Also Santa Marta has a sugar cane juice and churro stand that are basically free. For the juice, which is fresh, it is 2 Cuban Pesos and the Churros are 5 Cuban Pesos (not the CUCs). We went there every day. 11. Be careful of buying cigars on the beach. Many of them can be fake, so do your research before you go (the internet is a hard to get on at this resort). You can probably still get some real ones from the store in the hotel.

Stayed one week and had no issues at all. Friendly staff and nice rooms. The food was good for Cuba too. Not complaints. Entertainment staff was very good and the beach is amazing. No problems getting loungers. Drinks are not included at the disco. And the 9th floor bar is nice and high up so you can see for miles. Love Cuba and can't wait to go back

I've been going to this resort for the past 3 1/2 years, as much as I possibly can. In that short time I have been witness to many new improvements in the resort. The staff were always amazing, the food is Getting better, but remember it is Cuba, I recommend bringing spices, hot sauce, and chocolate!!!

We arrived Mon November 28th around 3 pm our room wasn't ready but the front desk people were very friendly and helpful. They told us what to do with our luggage, checked us in and answered any questions we had regarding our stay. We wandered around the resort noticing all staff were friendly. Our room wasn't spectacular but it didn't matter to us. We were there during the mourning of Fidel Castro, so there wasn't any entertainment at the resort but it certainly didn't hinder our vacation. We enjoyed every aspect of the resort and would definitely go back to this resort

This resort could easily be a 4 star with a bit of attention to the rooms , a la cartes and inconsistent staff. We stayed in a Supersaver room which had not yet been renovated. The air conditioner worked but only on one temperature (cold) and quite strong velocity. I slept with 2 blankets. Our cleaning lady was lovely, did a good job and was very appreciative of the new children's clothes and shoes we left daily. The beach was amazing and Rolando, who handled our loungers was friendly. The wait staff in the buffet were amazing and we thought the variety was good for Cuba. There was nightly entertainment and small groups in the lobby bar. We found it too hot to hang out there. A few fans may help this area. The pool area was well maintained however I found the pool bar people very cool to us. No smiles there even when we tipped. The a la cartes need some new recipes and need to learn how to use spices.We had 3 massages this week. They were decent massages , quiet area , with good air conditioning. This resort is close to town and you can take a Hop on Hop Off Bus for 5 cuc for the day. Unfortunely you need to go to town to exchange money or get ripped off by the exchange at the hotel desk. The other option is to exchange enough money at the airport. We booked the Buena Vista Social Club excursion for 32 CUC and enjoyed this very much.

Just back from staying at this hotel, and have mixed feelings. The rooms were standard for Cuba and the food not bad (didn't lose any weight while there). The beer flowed nicely, and the beach and weather were beautiful. Now here is the thing, I've been to Cuba three times now and this is the first time that I came across being ignored and having crappy service. This hotel is popular for the Cuban's, we found that the staff would ignore us while standing in line for drinks, food etc and speak directly with them. It went of for a couple of days but I did speak with our rep who then spoke to the hotel. The service did get much better but it left a bitter taste in our mouth. Also I want to note that we found the Cuban's to be rather rude and messy, leaving their garbage at the pool and putting their cigarettes out anywhere. The hotel did have garbage cans and ash trays everywhere but few seemed to use them. This may sound like a dumb thing to complain about but when you are getting out of the pool to stand on soggy cigarettes it become gross after awhile. One last thing, when we first arrived the staff were not that helpful in advising what and where things were. My son got sick and when we had to take him to a clinic to see a doctor. That went extremely well but the hotel did not advise us when we arrived that they had a doctor on site for a few hours a day, that would have been nice..... Anyways very glad we went but wouldn't be running back to this resort.

The building was built in 1996. I had no complaints with the rooms. The meals in the buffet were the same every day. I found the service to be the worst. If you sat at the beach bar and a Cuban family sat after you, they would be served first. If you were in line at the bar, a Cuban would come up behind you , speak spanish to the bar tender and they would get served before you. The servers were friendly to you, I just thought it was ignorant that they ignored you , I just found the people very pushy and messy, they never threw anything in the garbage cans that were all around the pool area, just got up and left. It's been 25 years since I was in Cuba last, I been back, feel the same as I did years ago, many other nicer places to visit so I won't be back again.

The hotel was great. The rooms could use some work but you don't go on vacation to stay inside. Drinks up in the sky bar are fantastic. The pool and pool bar are great. The band on Saturday nights is phenomenal. And the a la carte restaurants were terrific.

We thought this was a great resort with a very friendly and helpful staff. It was very clean and good value for the money. Awesome location and definitely would return! Just don't book the Modulo rooms as they are quite small, outdated and not renovated.

Really enjoyed our stay. Would def return to this resort. Staff was awesome, food was very good and location was perfect. Beach was a short walk and beautiful. Villas were nice and comfortable. We Look forward to our next trip to Cuba

Although in need of updating this quaint unique resort captured our hearts...the villa with its own pool was great!!! Would love to go with friends and stay in a villa together. Good was average but always found some tasty stuff to eat.

The grounds, staff, and beach are amazing. There was a terrible sewer smell around the towel exchange area. The maids are not cleaning under or around the beds, dressers, etc. A nice board walk should be built on the beach like they did at Las Morlas next door. The night shows were good over all but a few need improving. We got bored by two shows and left early. The food was fair as it is all over Cuba.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Very clean and the food was great. We had our own villa which I would recommend to anyone going to this resort. We had our own pool. We only used the pool once but for people with children it would be great.

Hotel was below average. Had ants in our room. This place is not handicap friendly. Had to use stairs alot. Elevators didn't operate very well. Beach was awesome. Pool was pretty good. Daytime pool entertainment was boring. Buffet was pretty bad. Staff was great. Rooms very clean, but need to be updated. Weather was awesome. Good choice of off-resort tours available at extra cost. Overall, it was still fun. Been here 2 times now, but going elsewhere next.

This resort is currently being re-branded from Villa Cuba to Be Live Experience Varadero. We went for the beach and we were not disappointed. The resort itself is quite dated and is needing up grades, however this is evidently in the works. We did request a new room the day after we checked in as our original room was quite musty. They accommodated this change for us and we were quite happy in our new villa with a private pool. The food was abundant and of good quality. Desserts could use some improvement. We were not impressed with the nightly entertainment, but that was a personal choice. I give this resort a good rating as a 3.5 star resort. We enjoyed ourselves and I would go back.

First don't book a villa! We had them move us into a room right away. The hotel is decent and the beach was gorgeous. We had one great lady at the service desk that helped us change our room ... And that was the end of that. We were only provided with one bottle of water in our room over the 4 day stay, when we asked for another, we were told no and they couldn't get us one until 9am the next day. We were on an excursion at 8:30am. We had to fill up with the water system at the buffet the whole weekend. We could not use our a la carte as they would only allow us to book with our rep between 1:30-2pm daily. Since we were not available at that time we were only offered the buffet. The availability of when food services were open was limited. then I got sick... Either from the water or bad food to the point were I ended up in urgent care when I returned home. It did not matter that I was ill, they still made us check out at noon even though our flight was not until 9pm. We tried to find the doctor 3 times but there was never one on site. I love cuba and have been several times but I would never go back to this resort.

My best friend and I absolutely loved this resort and everything about it. It had a lot of sitting room, great beach access and additional seating, great buffet and resturants. The location was perfect for us as well, it was a 5 peso cab ride to the night district of Varadero. The resort needs some paint, and our last few days by the games area smelled of sewage but all in all we loved it. We honestly couldn't figure out what people were complaining about with this resort.

The hotel was a mix of lovely and terrible rooms but the hotel and grounds were a clean and beautiful atmosphere and well maintained. They had entertainment every night and both the buffet and restaurants had great food choices. The pools were cold but beautiful and the beach was gorgeous. We technically booked a 5day 4nights trip but with two full days of travel it was basically only 3 days which I was extremely disappointed with

This is our 4th time at this resort and it is slowly receiving much needed renovations . In 3 or 4 months it should be better . They just finished painting the lobby white while we were there and it made a big difference ! The staff is very helpful and friendly . The food at the buffet restaurant was better than some of the other Cuban resorts but the coffee was ordinary . The road in front of the resort is not open to the Varadero double decker bus so it is an 8 to 10 minute walk down the road to catch it so we were not able to tour Varadero as much as we have in the past . They are slowly redoing some of the Villas units , the older ones are a little run down .

Rooms need renovation and new furnitures,food was very good,staff was nice, short distance to the beautiful and clean beach,people very friendly,I think they need only work better on entertainment for guests.
