Very simple hotel. No elevator, lots of stairs, so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Simple but large rooms with two Queen beds. Bathroom is old with a large tub. Large balconies are lovely for sitting when the sun isn’t directly on them. Pleasant stare. A tour bus every 40 minutes starting at 9am takes you to Old Havana. It was CA$5 for a return ticket. Last bus returns at 5pm from Parque Central. I’ve returned to the Atlantico many times. The food is simple but plentiful. Given the massive inflation that Cuba has faced, a US$1 tip is too small. Bring Euros or dollars in small denominations for purchases in Havana and for tops.

We’ve stayed here before. They’re upgrading the rooms, we really found nothing wrong. Air conditioning great, hot water, T.V., only a few channels. I didn’t care for the lock on the rooms, you had to slam them to lock. Also $3.00 weekly to rent safe. The biggest complaint I heard was the nonstop loud music playing by the pool and beach. We asked them to turn it down, did for a while then turned it up again saying the Cubans like it loud. I can see why the Cubans talk loud !

People expecting a 5 star resort should save up and and go to one. if you're like me and want a beautifull beach front resort and 20 minutes to havana You might just like this place. The staff are really helpfull. You won't starve, if you need a change of diet there are great affordable restaurants. nearby and in Havana. I guess its just a question of what you are lookin for. Return bussfare tickets to Havana are just 5 bucks,

Great location over the beach, very friendly service. Unfortunately, positives were offset by the lack of long overdue maintenance to the building and its surroundings, what finally forced us to move to another hotel.

The resort had basic necessities but an overall depressive feel to it. It might have something to do with the attitude of the staff as it felt like no one liked working there. Asking for anything was a challenge because the staff would give us attitude for doing so. It almost felt like we were made to feel bad to ask for necessary things, like water and toilet paper. I booked it knowing it wasn't a 5 star hotel but figured we'll just be using the beach and going to Havana, so it wouldn't matter. I've stayed in plenty of hostels before so the runned down facilities didn't bother me, but even hostels have better customer service. If you've come all the way to Cuba then I'd suggest going somewhere with better energy - it's so important. Somehow we felt unwelcomed every day and my family was happy to have gotten out of there on the last day.

especially the Playas del Este beach is very nice and just behind the hotel but what i have learned from frequent travelers to this place is that hey did not use the COVID timeout to improve that place which came down for some people as moisture in the wall, very worn out bathroom-tabs . Also the once free bus shuttle to Havana from the Hotel does not exist anymore.You can use a comfortable bus runnning almost hourly from 10 to 5pm all day as often as you want for 5 CAD or the local A45 to the via Blanca (or walk up there in 30 minutes) and from there the A40 for 2 CUP each. They run from 5AM to 1AM but are always packed full with peoples. The Covid related loss of tourism and income shows a lot all over Havana from falling apart ( not maintained) buildings over higher prices for Cigars to Duty free stuff at the Varadero Airport. They are in desperate need for devises and the tourist is the only cow that they can milk. What remains is the friendliness and cheerfulness of the Cubans.which makes up for some of the shortcomings. .

Hotel is old but room is clean, AC and Hair dryer worked really well. Shower had very low water pressure and cold, also fridge did not work. Evening entertainment boring, just 1 person singing Spanish songs some nights and some nights just watching dancing on the TV. Noting going on in the daytime. Pool is ok and close to beach. Half an hour bus ride to Havana, bus only accept US dollars or EU currency $10.00 per person. Bus service is very bad, no schedule, it runs every 45 mins to 1.5 hours. Noting in the area except a 20 mins walk to another hotel, where there are some souvenir stand outside in the street and some food stand. Some staff are nice, some not. Same food everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner with not a lot of variety. Boil plantain, Eddoes, Sweet potato, rice 4 different ways, boil pork, boil chicken, 4 types of fruits, cakes, rice salad, beans salad, not forgetting all the flies that are helping themselves to all the food. I can put up with everything, not that picky, but the flies, I refuse to deal with. No napkins, no milk for coffee, only beers and rum and wine, no fancy girly drink. Sometimes they run out of soda and glasses. The cut used water bottles and use the bottom part as glasses. They say 24 hour snack bar, but that's not true. I am not complaining but just trying to be honest. I was there early September 2022. I would recommend the hotel only for the proximity to Havana, but spend you day and buy food outside.

My review of Hotel Atlantico is measured by it's condition over the last decade to it's present condition post covid. When our bus pulled up to the gates of Atlantico we were greeted by a new sign Grand Caribe. This indicates that the present regime has sold a percentage to the hotel chain and released some of it's autonomy over the running of the establishment. Over the coming days I witnessed some minor changes in lobby and dining room furniture. Little else has been changed structurally. The new administration's greatest impact has been to a much more welcoming staff. Almost every employee regardless of position were helpful and accommodating. There were however a few of the old guard that will never learn but they were severely outnumbered by the positive mass. The hotel is strategically located 24 kilometers from Havana and 4 kilometers from Gaunabo sitting on a very nice patch of beach. The government may have cut out it's pesticide program. The mosquitoes were relentless and nasty. The dining room was well organized and actually had several condiments. The menu has been shortened but that is offset by a more caring kitchen staff and it shows itself with edible food this time around. This hotel could have rusted into the sea but now it is a facility well worth its price.

The serving staff was very friendly and attentive. Reception has no idea what's happening out of the hotel. Busing ànd activities,even getting a bottle of water from the hotel store, was not known. Messaging and info., Is poor

Good and friendly staff, the advertise for the rooms is not exactly the same as what we get, they advertise really nice rooms but when we get there, the rooms are really old and really not the same as the pictures that they show but they are clean, really not enough variety on the buffet, same thing every day, nothing spicy, no hot sauce and fade. Nice bar at night with music and entertainment but even on weekends they close all that way too early at 11pm! I recommend the massages, I had 4 during the week, really relaxing and not expensive and really professional! But overall if they make a few changes it would be a nice place to go!

The room was clean, no mini bar, no coffee maker, only one shampoo and two soaps. No elevator to 2nd floor or 3rd. Gym was not usable. Beach was dirty and shared with ppl from outside the hotel. Food options were limited and food quality below the average. Where something was done on the food table they would leave it empty or would take them ages to fill it up. Bar was so restricted to only one type beer. Don't expect cocktails, except rum and liquor drinks with ice. Only good part was coffee. I paid $1650 from Vancouver to here and from Toronto my friend came here for less than $1000.

Cet endroit est non digne ni représentatif de l'hospitalité Cubaine. Nous avons voyagé en famille et nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel. À éviter à tout prix! Nous sommes restés dans d'autres 3* à Cuba et ailleurs dans le monde et l'Atlantico ne mérite pas même une étoile pour son service à la clientèle, l'atmosphère et évidemment en considérant que Cuba n'est pas une destination culinaire.... Y'a quand même des limites à être aussi mal reçu. Nous nous assurerons de commenter davantage sur notre blog voyage. HORRIBLE!

Hotel is like most in cuba. Tired and not maintained properly. However rooms are clean and everything worked. ( tv, fridge, shower, lamps etc) Weather in January is this area is 18-26 degrees daily. Wind and rain are not a surprise. Pool water was dirty with bugs and leaves etc.. floating around. Hotel is the only beach front hotel at playa del este. Beach is one of the best beaches I’ve ever seen. And I’ve travelled a lot. Covid related- everyone is wearing mask all the time , indoors and outdoors. Due to Covid-19,many places are closed, ( small restaurants little kiosks etc) Covid testing facility is 40km away ( on the other side of Havana) and it will cost you 1000 pesos return trip to go get tested , and another 1000 to pick up results. They don’t mail them, they don’t fax them.testing is only done 9-12 am but picking up is 24/7 ( so they say) You need to pick them up. Out of 3 tests they did for my group, they make mistakes in typing names on 2. Then we waited more for the results to be re-typed . Test is 30usd . -credit card only- visa only. In addition they double charged me which I’m still to call visa about. If cab is split 4 ways, that’s 20usd a person plus 30 for test each. It will also cost you two days at 3 hours each. Because of Covid and small number of tourists there are no taxis readily available. You better book it a day or two before and hope they show up. When you first arrive and are tested at the airport, they give you a a yellow arm band in the hotel. You’re not supposed to go anywhere with yellow band but there’s nobody stopping you if you do. Then you wait 3 full days and on the morning of the 4th day, you get green band. Internet in the hotel doesn’t work longer than 30 seconds, but they won’t know this as in general their English skills are poor and their IT understanding not existent. Food is excellent for cuba ( and I’ve been to 15+ Cuban resorts) They actually had salads ( veggies are rare at these places) and they had chicken, beef or pork in various meals which is also rare. Stuff is trying to help, but with their limited knowledge this often amounts to no help at all. Also, CUC is accepted only in the bank and nowhere else. CAD is only accepted in the bank as well. CUC = 24, USD =24 and CAD 16 pesos. If you ask anyone else you will get 30 up to 38 peso per USD . People desperately look for USD. I routinely exchanged USD for 33-36 pesos without issues in small stores or restaurants. All in all, with waiting 3 days for results, 50USD AND 6 hours wasted to test again, stress of organizing it and anticipation of results ( what if you test false positive?) makes the trip unpleasant . Walking to the east 3 km on the road next to the beach will get you to another hotel. You may walk in ( like I did) only to find out that it’s a Hotel for asymptomatic Covid patients. Of course no guard at the beach .. once you walk in you may be in trouble and not be able to leave.. Personally I like adventure, so I didn’t mind any of this, however anyone who is looking for relaxing vacation.. this ain’t it.

Overall this is a decent Hotel with a great beach. If you have any disability then its not for you. There are stairs and more stairs with no elevators. The food is very basic and I suggest you bring spices. Basic drinks with cola being the only mix...no juice or 7up. We took an updated room and it was decent. Cleaned every day. We found staff to be friendly and helpful.

THE FOLLOWING IS BASED ON OUR OBSERVATION AND CONVERSATIONS WITH MANY OTHER GUESTS WE SPOKE WITH IN GENERAL CONVERSATIONS: 1. FOOD WAS THE SAME ALL DAY EVERYDAY 2. PEOPLE SERVING US WERE NOT TOO INTERESTED. IT SEEMED LIKE WE WERE BOTHERING THEM WHEN WE ASKED FOR SOMETHING. 3. RESORT OVERALL WAS DELAPIDATED AND WOULD NEED MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS. 4. SUNWING REP WASN'T VERY KNOWLEDGABLE. WE HAD TO POINT OUT PLACES OF INTEREST. 5. BEACH WAS FABULOUS. ** THE 2 STARS BELOW IS FOR THE POOL. WE'VE BEEN ALL OVER THE WORLD AND OUR EXPECTATIONS ARE ALWAYS VERY LOW AS WE NEVER EXPECT IT TO BE LIKE HOME BUT IN THIS CASE, THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE FOR THE $ WAS NOT WORTH IT.

We had been told this was a good hotel, 3*. It was barely okay. The food, while not surprising for Cuba, was repetitive and often dry (chicken). They never had any yougurt, the first time in over 40 years of going we have seen this. And not one mojitto. These are the things that make Cuba acceptable. The beach was lovely but dirty. The staff were kind and helpful. The bedspreads were very dirty. There were lots of steps, though i had requested no stairs, This was definitely not the right resort for us. We would not go back there.

On a lovely beach, in a low-key area, moderate cost, and close access to Havana - great combination. Rooms were clean, well-kept, comfortable, and everything worked. Good range of food, and good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel was so cute and cozy. Staff was amazing and so is beach. I would definitely come back again and recommend this hotel. It's three stars but worth it ... I actually stayed at a 4.5 star and this was better

We had an absolutely fantastic time here. The beach is incredible and the access to Havana very good with the free shuttle every day. The staff are very friendly and I love the 24 hour café overlooking the pool/ocean. There were recreational activities by staff such as Rosa (e.g., bocce on the beach, dancing lessons) which were fun. The rooms are dated but the beds are clearly new as the mattresses were excellent for me. There were some plumbing issues but once I became familiar with these issues I had no problems (e.g., the cold water shower tap was relatively limited whereas there was much more water coming from the hot water tap so the trick was to turn on the cold water full initially and then slowly increase hot water until it was a good temperature).

This was our 9th trip to Cuba, and the Atlantico Hotel is a 60 year old hotel that is showing its age. The pool should be emptied and repainted it is stained and faded. There are three or four dogs which wander around the hotel lobby and pool area, we happened to see two different dogs urinate against flower pots in the smoking area just off of the lobby. On the plus side there is hot water, but conversely no real water pressure, and if you happen to be in the shower and some one flushes the toilet look out! The staff is friendly and helpful, the lively entertainment staff do a good job to engage the guests in various games and if you participate, you might win a bottle or two of Cuban rum as my wife did. In the dining room, which is buffet style the food is bland, most of the vegetables like mashed potatoes, and cauliflower are cold. The pasta is served with a thin tasteless sauce. In two weeks we never saw a slice of bacon. There is butter available, but only at breakfast, with none at lunch or dinner in spite of lots of bread. No pepper at any meal and no red wine, the only wine is a not very good white. On Christmas Eve, the kitchen staff stepped up to the plate and had a fabulous spread ready for the quests, with an amazing display of pastries and breads, with roasted turkey, but no stuffing nor was there any gravy. The beach is lovely with plenty of beach lounge chairs available with umbrellas. Bring bug spray because there are lots of sand fleas to bite your legs and arms, plus a few tiny mosquitoes to taste your flesh.

We had a great time in Habana and at Hotel Atlantico. The hotel isn't anything fancy but you can expect a 5 star hotel when you pay for 3. We really enjoy the beach front , that was probably the best part of the hotel. Some of the live music was very good . Overall we got what we pay for.

Hotel Atlantico -Had very good beach right in front and so easy to access anytime. The bus service to Havana always on time each morning at 10am, however for free shuttle required Reservation in advance -not one to wait didn't mind paying $5.00. Apart from same old dishes both at lunch & diners-this resort worth the price. Clean rooms, service friendly by staff

Good value, food limited in variety but adequate, snack bar has good sandwiches and burgers, nice lunch available at a la carte restaurant with ocean view. Other a la carte for supper was okay. Basic drinks (no blender drinks). Good room, nice maid. Staff very appreciative of gifts as tips, as they get many local guests who may not do this. Daily activities and entertainment were average. Big plus - daily free shuttle to/from Havana, good value city tour bus from central park square in Havana (red double decker). Common areas of hotel were being painted and light fixtures cleaned - money is being invested in this place. Havana is celebrating its 500th anniversary in November, this may be the reason. Rating: 6.5 on 10, but could increase with time. I will return.

We spent a week at Hotel Atlantico in July 2019. This is our third time in this hotel over the last 10 years and we really like this place. It is situated right on the beach, it is small and compact, with a nice pool, a bar next to the pool, buffet restaurant, and two a la cart restaurants. The staff at the hotel is amazing, very friendly and a lot of them have been around for at least 10 years so we see familiar faces when we go. The rooms are clean and some of them are newly renovated with comfortable beds, nice balcony with patio furniture, clean and functional bathroom, flat screen TV. There is nightly and daily entertainment - such as Tropicana like shows, live music, bingo, other games. There is also a free bus ( luxury bus with A/C and TV) that goes to Havana once a day. The food is also good - fresh fruits, grilled fish, pork and chicken,made to order omelettes, pancakes, few types of rice and potatoes, pasta, etc. It is simple but healthy. We were there with our 4 year old boy and he also had a great time. He made some friends, he enjoyed the kids section of the pool as well as the beautiful beach. He really liked the pasta in the buffet restaurant and the hamburgers at the pool bar, and of course, the fruits. We would return again to this hotel and we recommend it to anyone who wants to spend time at a beautiful Tropical beach and be close to Havana at the same time.

1. Check in - super slow since there was only 1 women the front desk for check in, money exchange, phones etc. 2. Rooms - 1.5 star, at best. I had no cold water the entire week! I burned my butt off everytime I went into the shower. All the porcelain was chipping off the tub, the curtain was filthy, sink tap was set too far back, so you could barely wash your hands. The air conditioner was LOUD. There was a TV with 2 English channels. You have to pay extra for the safe. No lock on the door or cards to hang for house keeping indicating, "do not disturb. " The room is basic but clean, aside from the dirty comforter and curtains. 3. Food- Oh God, the food! There were flies on everything! It was very disgusting. Who cares how it tastes, you wouldn't want to even try after seeing the amount of flies were there! 4. Location- that's the only thing this place has going for it, the beach! But, it's littered with locals how are rude, drunk, and obnoxious. They leave their garbage everywhere; in the water, the sand, all over the place! This was my 1st time ever seeing needs along the shoreline! What the heck is going on here!? There are a fee Cuban food stands along the road close to beach that you can try. 20 mins from Old Havana with a reservation only, free, bus ride from the hotel daily 10am drop off and 5pm pick up. In my opinion, they could do 2 drop offs, 9am and 11am with 2 pick ups 3 and 5. All in all, this is a 1.5 star trying to be more! I wouldn't go back unless my plan was to lay on the beach all day or use it as a package to fly down and stay somewhere else, since packages are cheaper than flights alone.

This is my second time to the hotel Atlantico. I especially enjoy the friendly staff. The food was fine and ample, complete with live jazz during lunch and breakfast. I particularly like the location as it is only 25 minutes outside Havana with free bus service. It's likely that if l visit Cuba again, I'll stay at the hotel Atlantico.

Not upgraded rooms smell terrible. Water pressure really is atrocious, run out of COLD every single shower. Resort caters to locals. I traveled alone, it was hard to meet people - there were only a handful of Canadians (literally 5). No one smiles. I asked for a higher room since I was on the ground floor, and I always find it loud. Once I was moved they told me I was going to be charged 10cuc per night. Safe is 2cuc per night, bottles of water are 2 for 1cuc. Food is terrible, I have been to Cuba before and understand everything is bland. Fish, pork, beans, rice and pasta all very bland, wouldn't eat the salads or bread since they were covered in flies and birds flew in as well. Breakfast was best meal of the day. Had a friend lose money out of their safe, almost $300.00 - nothing is safe. Beach is beautiful but dirty, garbage everywhere, pulled a broken beer bottle out of the water one day, people walk on the beach and just toss their garbage. No blended drinks. Don't drink the ice, it is tap water. Would not step foot in the pool, very green and slimy looking, dirty at the bottom, caters to locals. This is a motel, everything is enclosed. Entertainment is awful, they brought in dancers one night out of 7 the rest of the nights they just played youtube at the bar. Very disappointing. I have been to a 2 star in Varadero that was a 5 star compared to this.

I was first time in Hotel Atlantico....my opinion is : for price what I was paid it was okay......everyday we have opportunity to have transportation to Havana for free . I will be in this hotel in the future.......

Built on the beach. regular transportation to Habana every 40 minutes with 5 CUC return included. Food satisfactory for this 2,5 star hotel. Staff well trained for years and very tolerant of foreigners. Improvement slowly throughout the years. Good package deals compared to other nearby hotels.

Excellent location. Friendly staff. Sufficient food. Clean beaches. Transportation available 24/7. Arrived and staff attentive to my need. Answered my questions. Pointed out things that I needed to know. Helpful.

We had a very very good time everyone was very nice and always helpful and welcoming. There was always lots of activities going on around the resort. I would recommend this place to many of my friends looking to get away and lay on the beach for a week.

Have been there many times. Some furniture has been painted but Air conditioner in my first room did not work and made loud noses trying too. Door to balcony hard to open, The food has never been good but now is much worst. We both got diarrhea and only ate there and we do not drink alcohol.

Its a average hotel ,no nice tropical drinks,Some of the staff wernt to smily ,but hey ,they had a tornado .Ans some of them were affected.Beach is awesome.We had lots of jelly fish and sea weed.But they kept it all clean with the tractors.We spent lots of time in Havana.Awsome .Music ,dance and lots of laughes.

I liked the hotel and thought it offered good value. Since the Atlantico is only 25 minutes from Havana, l made the most of it (free bus too). There was plenty to eat, although the fair was pretty basic (a common complaint in Cuba). The beach is pretty and long, great for walks. The entertainment was kind of average and a bit too loud. If you're looking for a 5 star resort with all the amenities, keep looking. But, if you are looking for good value for your money then Atlantico might be for you, it was for me.

by the end of a couple of days i had warmed up to the place and so had the wife and 30 yr old daughter. My rating was as follows: accommodation 2.5/5, food 4/5 that's because i love good wholesome nutritious pork and chicken and vegetables, the fish was average, entertainment on an evening 2.5/5, the beach 5/5, you are right on the beach so i went snorkelling and walking while the wife read, there was also good entertainment on the beach like salsa dancing lessons, darts competitions etc. The location is perfect for commuting to Havana. You can catch the free bus from Atlantico at 10am then return at 5pm or catch a public bus every 40 mins from near the hotel for just 5 CUC's return. The bus was excellent with AC and the ride to Havana just 30mins. This i particularly enjoyed. I went to Havana 4 or 5 times.

The hotel was dirty and we could not see the bottom of the pool. After one day we asked to change hotel. Staff we not friendly either. Beach was great and food was not bad but I still would not recommend this hotel

Nice hotel always hot water, good food and good atmosphere . very close from havana a bus take you to old havana everyday and bring you home at 5pm there is a few town near by .the staff was very friendly and always ready to help and the beach is exceptional

The hotel needs more cleanliness and maintenance. The level of hygiene in the dining room is really bad. I got a bout of food poisoning the last time and I've met other people who got sick. I have never seen anyone wash the dining room tables.They use a brush to dust off the table and place mats. The place mats are dirty and sticky. They rarely wash or change them. The same in the rooms, they don't change the sheets regularly and towels are not very fresh looking. The bed covers are really dirty and disgusting looking. Housekeeping is always sloppy. The gardens and public areas need more cleaning. The poolside entertainment is over the top loud and annoying. The DJ guy shouts and screams enough to be heard all over the hotel. Sometimes they have had some low volume easy listening music which was more pleasant. Everyone complains about the shocking screaming and shouting from the DJ but he doesn't seem to understand how obnoxiously loud it is. The reception staff are very rude and unhelpful. Delvis is the most helpful and friendliest of them all. They are very unpleasant.

Negatives: Some staff churlish; many indifferent; a minority pleasant. Brown stains on many sheets and towels. Individual tip jars for every serving spot in buffet-style dining room: juice, carver, pasta + +; all in addition to any tip to "server", who provided soda, wine or water (no beer or orange juice!) Bath tub enamel flaking off. Music from loudspeakers often exceeded noise comfort level Positive: Some of musicians in dining room were excellent Dancing instruction was fun Lacking: warmth from most of staff

Nice pool although a bit small. Hotel is by the beach which I liked much. Friendly staff. Everyday activities in the pool ( like vollyball) and binco by the pool. Good food. Nice rooms. Good value for the money.

We booked this trip at the last minute, from start to finish it was a pleasant experience, service from tripcentral was excellent, they provided fully details efficiently and the check-in with Sunwing was smooth. We were greeted & picked up by Sunwing representative upon arrival, people at the Hotel were very friendly, the food exceeded our expectation, they had different meat every night, fish was always there, we even had grilled shrimps one night. Hotel is dated but functionally well, staff constantly doing their job to keep it clean, entertainment provided every night, live music & dance show etc, the beach is just besides the hotel, we had, I think, the second best room, it was the ocean view end unit on the 1st floor, we had other guest knocked on our door, wanted to see the room as they wanted to book this room when they return next year! We took the free shuttle to Havana & had a little tour with the old car, it was so so as the tour guide tried to make us do a lot of unnecessary shopping, but this was not part of the vacation package, overall this was a very relaxing trip!

I was disappointed with this hotel, which was advertised as a 3 star. This is a 60 year old hotel in dire need of an upgrade and management. The Air Transat flight which was recommended was disappointing as I could not even get a free can of soda, which I requested from the Pursar on the flight. He told me they were preserving the stock for their return flight and offered me a half can of soda. Due to poor ground arrangement I arrived at the Atlantico at 11:30pm and could only get a few stale sandwiches . I asked for a bottle of water and was told it would cost $2 CUC, so I had to settle for a small glass. I was bitten all over as the mattress had bed bugs and mosquitoes in the room. This was rectified by the very pleasant housekeeper, who fumigated the room the next morning. They need to get rid of the flies and improve their hygiene. Overall I am not impressed with Transat and the Atlantico.

This is a good hotel to stay when you travel to Cuba. They have good service and nice room. Besides, they have wifi in the main area, and it works well. However, they should improve the food. Also, the water in room sometimes runs out of.

All was super and better than expected. Entertainment was good for my niece since she is younger but I did not stay for long do my health. I new a lot of this hotel from my friend and my husband and I were few times in the hotel nearby.

Our room was average, floors were a bit dirty but we just wore our flip flops the whole time. The AC in the room was awesome and the beds were really comfy. Pool was good, but the daytime entertainment is horrible. They just yell over the microphone in spanish for hours on end and the sound quality is bad so I'm sure nobody can understand it. Other than that the music was good, and the beach was super nice. It was nice that the boats were all inclusive. The 24hour bar was a nice touch. Make sure you bring snacks because the food situation is BAD. Only 3 periods of time in the day to get food at the buffet and a snack bar that you'll likely wait 45 minutes for a gross hamburger. The A La Carte restaurant was delicious but gets old fast as there are only a few options. Stay away from the fish soup. Overall we had a good time here, but won't be staying here again.

Annual stay for about 10 years. Some improvement every year. Best location in Cuba for access to Habana and the beach with free hotel shuttle and regular, cheap, reliable city transit. Excellent for what you pay and the overall package received compared to other offers in Cuba. No well prepared for persons in need of wheel chairs.

I had an awesome stay at the Hotel Atlantico. The staff for the most part were very good and the room was clean. Food was ok in my opinion-typical cuban fare.Please note that Guy Fierie wasn't cooking. Be carefull to wear bug spray early in the morning if going on the beach as the sand fleas are active then and their bites are not pretty. There is a bus that travels to Havana and back every 45 minutes or so for 5 CUC which is well worth it. Taxis to havana can range from 10 to 30 CUC depending on the car and weather the taxi wants to return to Havana Empty after dropping people at the beach. 5 CUC to Guanabo by day and 10 at night.(scam in my opinion) If you are expecting the Sheraton you will be dissapointed.

I have stayed at the Atlantico many times Remember, it is only a 3 Star maybe 2 1/2 Star Hotel.. It is not a resort.. I recommend only staying in the newly renovated section. ( optional 10 CUC a night ). You get a decent room and a really nice view of the pool and beach. The beach is beautiful. The staff are very friendly. Havana is 30 minutes away. If you want to enjoy Havana and also spend time on a beautiful beach, the hotel is well located. The food is terrible. So bad Cubans won't eat there. I never could eat lunch or supper at the Hotel.. I would take a taxi to Guanabo ( 8 to 10 CUC ) or Havana ( 20 CUC ) to eat at a good Restaurant . Hotel is very boring. there is little entertainment if any. If you add up the cost to stay at the hotel and the traveling to eat and for entertainment, probably be the same as staying at a 5 Star resort in Cuba. Would I recommend this Hotel to a friend? All depends on what you would like to do on your vacation. I always enjoyed myself. Bottom line.. You get what you pay for.

I was a bit afraid booking this place since it was only a three star hotel, but it was a definitely okay. There were no frills to be sure but it did the job. I went to Cuba for the weather and not the food, or the social life so this place was fine. I really liked the bus to Havana and went on it three times. The beach was a bit rocky and could be cleaned more often but you could walk maybe thirty metres and it was perfect (just as good as varederjos). The AC worked, bed was okay....oh, trying to balance the right temperature of the shower was very tricky. So overall, considering the price, I would reccomend this place

Best feature of this hotel is it's proximity to Havana. Decent beach but needs to be cleaned more (add garbage cans). Too many flies around food in dining room. Often no glasses or coffee cups available. I still have intestinal issues and have been home for almost three weeks. Staff friendly. Great beds and new quiet air conditioner a bonus. Bathroom needs major upgrading and improve water temperature controls.

The hotel advertises fitness facilities but there is no gym of any kind. The food was mediocre at best. No fresh vegetables (all canned), limited fruit, poor selection of items. Hotel is run down and needs some maintenance to bring it back up to a decent standard. {i.e. repair tiles in and around the pool, paint a few things.) Renovated room was a 10 CUC/night surcharge and was so small we took a standard room which had a better view and was much larger with three beds instead of two doubles. Shower and toilet were not good, with water temps all over the place. The sink was fine. The staff was really great however. We enjoyed the people a lot. I would recommend this hotel with a few reservations and warn of its deficiencies.

We had been to the Atlantico many times before, and always LOVED it, but this time we were confronted with some disappointing issues: - Scanty selection of food - Very few drinks available: no mojitos, often no rum collins, no diet cola of any kind, and no apology of any kind for this lack - The inviting bar in the lobby had been replaced with a piece of stained glass! What a loss.. - Our newly renovated room was nice, but a horrible stench coming up from the shower drain continually permeated our unit - In addition we were not warned that there was no usable beach, thanks to the hurricane -- just rocks and caves, both on shore and in the water, making it very uncomfortable. Usually the beach is fantastic....

Amazing beach with white sand behind the hotel. Can take long walks along the beach. Resort food is not that good. Free shuttle to havana every morning and brings you back at 5 pm. Nightly entertainment is poor. Travelled Sept 2017

Room was adequate there are newer rooms but need to do upgrades. They were quite conservative with the bottled water. Had to refill numerous times. The dinning staff were great. Although they can benefit from taking a food handle course

Unfortunately not the Cuba I am used to. I have visited Cuba 7 times so know what to expect. While the room was clean, the pool was green for half the week and their response was that they would clean it tomorrow. The was only boiling hot water or cold in the shower and no in between. The food which is normally ok was not great. There was little modification to the menu all week and I got sick 2x i suspect from the water they used to boil the pasta. They ran out of beer and pop 1 day at the inside bar and had no slushie machines to make daquiries or pina coladas. They charge to use the safe which is uncommom. The nighttime shows were more of amateur night and there were no daily activities organized. The employees preferred to walk around and ask you to get them drinks. Sadly a disappointing vacation. I woukd not return to Havana for another vacation.

As hoped, facility was clean and food better than average. Daily free bus to Havana. Recommended unless you are used to a 5 star hotel. Beach very nice, close to city and felt safe in the area. Expect a good 3 star hotel.

It's the fifth time at this place. Main feature is location, location, location and reliable shuttle - bus to the city. The best of the area hotels ( Arenal - Tropicaca ). Very good for Staff attention, beach, pool and resting. Food and facilities better than average. Not prepared to fit old seniors or with disabilities.

Room okay, no hot water at times, food same for almost all meals, not much flavor, tablecloths had mold on them, not impressed, very little Engl7sh spoken by hotel employees, unable to get much information unless spoke to other Canadians. Had to get coffee from bar after breakfast and put in small plastic glasses, stupidest thing ever. Drinks in small plastic glasses and unless asked for good rum, was served crap. Came across two women who worked in the bar quite disrespectable. One excellent would let me have cup and saucer for coffee to take out to seating area in hall. Chairs in bedrooms horrible, no cushioning left in cushions. Outside bar metal lattice type chairs, no cushions. All beach chairs put out were cracked. Not a hotel l would reccommend, more of a 1/2 to 1 1/2 star hotel. Maid for room was pleasant and good but mold on bathroom tile and no plug so one could take a bath if preferred. The service to and from hotel good except taxi driver could not speak English. They had a school band from M8ntreal and Toronto come and play for one hour each on differen5 evenings, they were excellent.

I've been to the Atlantico maybe 12 times. Nothing much changed except this time there was no beach, just rocks. Disappointing. Food is terrible still. They serve the same buffet for Lunch and Supper. Staff are very nice. Weather was beautiful. Room ok. The price was right

Great location on one of the nicest beaches in Cuba. Easy access to old Havana by plentiful, eager and helpful taxi drivers, or public bus service. Fantastic buffet meals with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken and fish cooked in front of you. Clean rooms, friendly staff, but NO plumbing or bathroom facilities for 2 days! Disgusting!! Pool turned green one afternoon.

The staff was very pleasant at this hotel. Service was good. Food was ok. The hotel shows its age and is in need of some TLC, but it was clean. The location was awesome, beach right there and Havana 20 minutes away. We loved the free shuttle, you just need to make sure you reserve it in advance.

A comfortable place, I had no problems. The staff was always pleasant. Rooms were large enough. TV had channels like BBC CCTV DW, surprisingly. The only negative I can think of would be that the beach was not as clean as others I have seen in Cuba.

Front desk was very nice , . Food was also very good with lots of variety and meat plentiful . This hotel has mostly families or couples .So if you are single and alone and looking to party half the night you could find yourself sitting alone and bored. Of course the beach and the bus to Havana were excellent Also I did not have to pay the $25 departure tax at the airport which surprised me.

The resort is adequate, beautiful beach, free bus to Havana is a huge plus. Too far away from Varadero airport - why not fly into Havana? Food was O.K., but problematic for vegetarians - many dishes have little pieces of meat added. Sunwing changed our time to 6.15 A.M. - ungodly hour that I always try to avoid. They're supposed to give us $50 vouchers for the inconvenience, but haven't received them yet. No vegetarian meals on the return flight.

the hotel has a big potential but is understaff the food is good but the services is very slow, need more spun, glasses plates problem with no drinking water available and waiting to get some to long, and very ignorant services personal. most of the rooms need urgent renovation and has mold and hut water is only some time available or is not pressure. some of the cleaning personal has to be discipline for stilling from the rooms. the animation is working hard but the sound system has to be replace has vey bad distortion .

This hotel could be great! But sadly it's not. Rooms are ok, but we're not picky about staying in a dated room. At least it was clean! However, on day 3 we noticed we were getting bug bites around our ankles only...so there's definitely bugs in the hotel/beds. The food here is awful. The meat was never fully cooked, so stay away from the chicken and pork! Salads are recycled daily, but there's always a new dish in the heated section. After 7 days of eating rice and potatoes (really only safe option, as everything else is left out for hours without proper refrigeration) I was definitely ready to come home. There is ZERO atmosphere at this hotel. Everyone was in bed by 1030pm!! So if you're looking for a good time, don't stay here. There is a bar in the hotel which looked like it would be fun, but it was never open. The lobby bar leaves a lot to be desired. The pool was open and was clean, but unless you like swimming in copious amounts of chlorine, I'd avoid the pool. Gorgeous beach literally 10 feet from the hotel - which is its saving grace. The shuttle into Havana was great! Although don't let the locals fool you into thinking old Havana is the place to go. New Havana is just as nice if not nicer and with shops/restaurants you'd actually want go to. So all in all, paying $650pp all inclusive is a great deal, however, this hotel leaves a lot to be desired.

Very close to Havana which was appealing. Resort needs some love, but has a fantastic beach, decent food, helpful staff. The rooms left a little to be desired but a beautiful view of the beach. It's exactly what we anticipated when we purchased the vacation, great value for money.

I imagine at one time this was a good place to stay. The workers tried to be helpful. It would have helped if my husband and I spoke their language. We moved to 3 different rooms and finally had hot and cold water the last 3 days ( no shower the first 5 days) The tablecloths in the dining room were dirty and flies were landing on the buffet food and the silverware etc. The shuttle to Havana was fine and on schedule. Overall the Club Atlantico was not a 3 or 3.5

bad installations but amazing beach and staff, poor food, overall if you are just into beach go ahead if not forget this resort. even though is close to havana u might just go somewhere else is up to taste.

It is a great place the beach is near the hotel which is very good the swimming pool is beautiful the rooms are clean but the bath tub and the sink need improvement , the stuff are supper nice and friendly . over all me and my family had a great time it is worth it

The rooms were fine, nice balcony, food not so great as in other resorts in Cuba,plenty of drinks. Beach was excellent, lots of shade.Entertainment was great with daily shows. The free shuttle bus to Havana was excellent.

Great hotel, amazing staff but food not so good. The hotel offer a shuttle bus to Havana everyday. We got to enjoy the beach in the morning and the city of Havana in the afternoon. Staff were vey friendly and helpful whrn asking for instructions.

The grounds were plain. The food was good. The beach was beautiful. The room was average for Cuba. Nice location to Havana and nearby town. Entertainment was just OK. No disco at night and boring for a youthful couple! Overall happy to have gone once to Havana and this all inclusive resort!

The hotel was perfect for us. Not luxurious but comfortable and clean. The room was bigger than we expected with lots of drawers and cupboard space. We did have to fiddle with the toilet a couple of times, the sink faucet moved on the counter and the bathtub had seen better days, but there was plenty of hot water and lots of pressure. The staff was wonderful and creative with swan- and boat-shaped towel designs. We smiled when we entered the room after it was cleaned. We did find the front-facing room noisy in the early morning, though, with trucks and cars. The food was plentiful with a much larger selection of vegetables than I expected. It became a bit repetitive, especially since I don't eat meat, but I didn't plan on haute cuisine. Yes, there could be flies and birds in the dining area but it just added to the ambience. And Lado, a waiter, was the essence of charm and attentive service. Havana was just a short, free shuttle bus away, so our stay was a great mix of city and beautiful beach time. The ocean was warm, could be choppy, but playing in the waves was a wonderful respite from frigid Toronto. Hotel Atlantico was the right place at the right time.

Example:We had a great time, the entertainment was fun, the access to the beach and facilities were convenient even when rained. White sands, long Gorgeous beach, friendly hard working staff at this all inclusive place, restaurants are also very good. Over all we had wonderful time. We are coming back soon.

Great location if you want to be by the beach and close to Havana city. The staff is very friendly especially if you are nice to them. Be sure to tip at least on occasion. The food was not spectacular but eatable. I would definitely recommend this hotel but do not expect a high luxury place. There are a lot of locals around which also allows you to see the Cuban way of life.

The hotel itself matches its star rating, with the beach being 1 star above it. However I would like to rate the personnel 4.5 stars, always very helpful! One of the main attractions for me was the shuttle to Havana.

Could usually find one thing to eat, very repetittive food, ok for a first trip to Cuba. Twice daily shuttle to Havana useful. Stayed at Casa Particular "Merry's" for 31 CUC including breakfast, on Obispo in Havana to be able to hear Cuban music in most restaurants in old Havana, and go to Buenovista Social Club evening 50 CUC,

There were few disappointments and plenty of positive things to report about Club Caribe Atlantico. This was my fifth trip to Cuba so I pretty much got what I paid for. The room was clean, hot water was plentiful but it could've benefited from some renovations; not a deal breaker. Beds weren't great but I didn't have trouble sleeping. Overall, I'd say the room was satisfactory for the time I actually spent in it. Food was pretty standard for Cuba and I was always able to find something to eat. Occasionally, there was a particular tasty meat or fish dish that brought the meal up a level. Musicians played during lunch & dinner and I would say they were talented and kept things light and easy listening for meal times. Entertainment was pretty standard for Cuban resorts but I found the musicians to be very good. They solicit guests for tips but are neither agressive or impolite so be respectful in your treatment of them. Hotel staff were a great compliment to the overall experience of the resort. Dining room staff, Bartenders, Beach staff and Chambermaids seemed content and eager to help. One employee noticed my Scuba Diving T-shirt and offered me a dive excursion from the hotel's beach. Within an hour we were on a catamaran heading out to a local reef. There were two free shuttle bus trips to Havana leaving from the hotel everyday and various excursions offered from travel representatives working in the lobby. Internet was available but staff advised us that it was quite slow; users confirmed this so I didn't use it. Currency exchange is available at the hotel but the rate is slightly lower than a regular bank. Not low enough that I didn't use it but Canadian money is taking a hit everywhere right now so budget a little higher until the rate gets better. This was a standard Cuban 3 star with great service and good return on the money I spent. Great scuba diving from the beach or Marina Tarara; the excursion people can set you up with that.

Club Atlantico was breezy and refreshing. I live for the beach down here. All the staff are pleasant and highly functional. It is a good idea to treat the all inclusive, re: food as an auxiliary feature and go out to a restaurant or two to really experience Cuban fare. The rooms are basic. But your outside most of the time. Just brush up on your Spanish. And take advantage of the free shuttle to Habana.

I recently spent 9 days in Havanna, split equally between the hotel and and a private rented residence in town. The beach and weather were very nice and I very much enjoyed the time in the ocean and the sun. The best asset of the hotel is the reasonable price point as it does not have top class facilities, but is just adequate. Tried for a whole week to get the television working but had no success.

I recently stayed at club atlantico . This August. I can say the food was ok . The building isnt in good shape the rooms are deteriorating. I actually locked myself in the washroom . Door knob came off. Lol . I dont recommend it

Rooms were clean. Resort is directly on a beautiful white sandy beach. Free shuttle bus daily to Havans was great. Food was average for Cuba but OK. Staff were very friendly. Yes, I would go back to this resort. Looking forward to my next trip to this hotel.

The beach is beautiful. Staff are great. Hotel is very clean. It is close to Havana so you get the best of two worlds, the action in Havana and the R&R of a beautiful beach. Food is terrible. I always really enjoyed myself there. I would go again.

The atlantico hotel is in need of some serious updating and maintance. The staff look very tiered and indifferent to your precence unless there is a large tip in there hand. The rooms that we tried all were in poor condition, ei...paint falling off the walls and the furniture were broken along with the bed springs poking your back. Bar service all inclusive if you like suger drinks or cheapest of the rums. We were not impressed with this hotel, it's not what was advertised on the brochure. The food was very limited to bean mixes, and limited amount of meat and chicken. The staff seemed anoyed if you asked for coffee or water and they would point to the self serve coffee maker, unless they were tipped for every request that was asked of them. All was not bad at this resort the sun was shining at the public beach.

We (my husband and our adult son) had a great time in Cuba and Havana. We loved the hotel as the location is great for us as we love to spend time in Havana and on the beach. The hotel is on the beach, and it has a free shuttle to bring guest into Havana twice in a day. The food is good enough for us and we enjoyed the two speciality restaurants. They have nice fish dishes which we enjoy. The service staff at the hotel are very helpful. It is a smaller hotel, but we enjoyed the time there.
