We had a great time exploring and enjoying this resort. The lush vegetation, animals,’pools and beach were amazing. Always spot at the beach or pool at any time of day and the white sand beach one of the nicest we have seen. The restaurant and buffet selections were plentiful and nice that you did not require reservations for them. The staff at the resort along with air Transat representatives were always ready and available. Thank you for creating a wonderful experience.

Great accommodations, very convenient layout of all facilities, huge variety and tasty food, helpful and polite personnel. Very good night shows and activities. Brilliant idea to have adult only pool separately from big pool. Great beach with umbrellas. Jungle at the middle is a gem. We would definitely visit again.

Great family vacation at Iberostar Tuscan! The beach and turquoise ocean was stunning, with lots of space for activities. We loved all the greenery with the birds and animals, especially monkeys swinging away.

Highly recommend this resort, great food, great staff, great beach. Awesome time had by our group. This isn’t a party resort which is not what we were looking for either. Traveled with our 6mo they were super accommodating and resort is quite stroller friendly. We tried all the restaurants other than the Japanese one, they were all excellent. The rain forest portion is amazing as well as the amount of wildlife on resort.

This resort never fails to amaze me. From the friendly and helpful staff , the cleanliness, the wildlife constantly about, the a la cartes ( superior quality), buffet variety. ..all outstanding! Alcohol service does not shirk on the drinks prep, the breathtaking landscapes and scenery . Miss it already.

Excellent service. Clean and very well maintained. Food is great in the buffet and in the restaurants. Front beach has very good Shade and comfortable. All personnel is very kind and amicable. We have already some friends there. Pools are beautiful and very well maintained. Maintainance in all areas of the hotel is great.

The resorts and grounds were immaculate and well kept. Staff very friendly. Food was great and lots of choices! The most pleasant surprise was the natural jungle in the middleof the resort, and all the wild animals you get to see. Wake up service by peacocks on the balcany!

I enjoyed the traditional design of the resort & the tropical jungle vibe. The beach & pools are great. Staff are also lovely (That is the standard in Mexico). Buffets - breakfast, lunch and dinner were very good Those are the positives. Negatives: the "all inclusive" is not all inclusive i.e. at this hotel a local beer (Modelo) is considered VIP/extra charge , I have never been to an all inclusive hotel with such a poor selection of brand name alcohol. I was literally told by a hotel "customer service" employee that if I wanted a Modelo I should have booked a more expensive trip. Also, beds and pillows are terrible, broken ceiling fan, no working ice machines in the building (each building was supposed to have one on 2nd floor), if you have a lot of devices, there is only one outlet in the main living area, the a la carte restaurants were mediocre at best (and very inconsistent), buffet was better than a la carte.

Iberostar Tucan was overall a good experience and we would definitely go back. We were celebrating our 3rd year honeymoon anniversary. There are a few things to note though. The air conditioning in our room wouldn't go below 20 degrees celcius as a setting but never actually went low enough to get to 20 anyways, was a hot sleep. Also we had one of the restaurants in close proximity to our room and the staff were banging things (cleaning out large sinks and such at all hours of the morning, 1 am, 5am, etc.) This woke us up a few times and when we tried to call reception they didn't speak any English so it took us going down on the 4th day of our stay to complain before we could get a relatively peaceful nights sleep. Oh and the pillows were waay too stuffed, cranked our neck way too high. We were super impressed with the food quality and service of the staff, they were exceptional. The best part of this resort are the beautiful animals and jungle that it occupies. The monkies and coati's (like cute little mexican racoons) were adorable. Was amazing. The shows were really good too. Another spectacular thing about this place was it's beach, definitely one of the best beaches I have ever been to. We loved that Iberostar is trying to be more Ocean conscious and are using reusable water containers, no straws and such. Cleaning staff were excellent and the pool was just lovely. Waiting staff in the buffets and restaurants were all very professional and made our food experience like a date every time. Other than the sleep quality, this was one of the best resorts we have ever been to.

This resort is beautiful. Lovely grounds. Great people. Chris Flower, Dina and Marybell were awesome people! Lovely colourful resort with great people. Animals in the resort great. Beach view room was awesome and the place was keep really clean. Bad: 1950 music!! The music is awful. It's way old. You dont enjoy the lobby because of it. It's too bad because your on holiday and would love to hear lively music.

We both loved this resort. The food was amazing and the staff were all very helpful. The beach was beautiful. Big waves but lots of fun. Would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to others.

This resort was well laid out, plenty of space to move about and on the beach. The rooms were clean and the service was amazing. All were very attentive and professional. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to assist.

This my 1st visit of this resort. I really like the environment inside the resort. It's small, cute, modern and authentic. It has one of the best beaches in Playa de Carmen. 20 minutes walk to Playa de Carmen from the hotel. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. Rooms are standard - clean and nice. Entertainment is awesome! If you're looking for small, quite, peaceful resort - this is the right place for you!!! I'll definitely come back here again in the future!!!

We really enjoyed ourselves. Loved all the cute little creatures roaming around! The staff was lovely as well. Our room was clean and we had no complaints. The buffet was to die for if you like 1000 choices. The lobby was our favorite part. Mellow, relaxing with birds and peacocks walking by. We felt very safe there.

We loved everything about this resort. The entertainment staff (Star Freibds - Alejandro, Paula, Carlos, Edwardo, and Oto) were fantastic. The food, the jungle, seeing the different animals and resort staff all were amazing. The maintenance crew is out very early in the morning cleaning the beach every day and throughout the day. The resort is very clean and beds were comfortable. It’s about a 30 minute walking distance to 5th Avenue shops. The resort is in a great location. Our Westjet Represenitve from BestDay, Luis was fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful.

Hello Travel Lovers, I have just returned from the Iberostar Tucan Riviera Maya Mexico and would absolutely recommed it as a lovely vacation destination. Who loves food 🥗🍡🍹, the beach ⛱ and sun. Lots of sun☀️. Then this is a great spot. The check in was very smooth with a lovely tropical drink and very friendly staff to greet you. The conciege was always available to make your a la carte dinners or change them with no problem .What i can say about the food either at the buffets snack bar or the ala cartes is FABULOUS. The rooms are spacious , lovely and clean. You have a fridge with soda and beer as well as a coffee and tea basket. The resort has a huge pool right by the beach, beach bar, snack bar(Great wings and ribs) and a second buffet where you can eat a lovely breakfast or lunch overlooking the ocean. There is a very cool Adult only swim up bar separate from the pool where you can enjoy a cold one and meet fellow travellers.🍺🍸🍹This resort is also full of wild life, from monkeys, peacocks, iguanas, flamingos, Tucan, parrots, koi fish and more. The monkeys are known to drop by your deck in the am looking for some fruit. They are all very tame.They have a different show every evening as well as lobby bar if you just want to chill have a drink and a chat. Had a great trip and would return to the Tucan😎

You always know what you will get with an Iberostar. Great service, smiles and courteous always. Never waited for a drink anywhere within this resort. Great food although a little repetitive. Shade all around the huge pool. Separate adult only swim up bar. Ice cream bar, Paella at the beach every lunch. Freshly made burritos at the beach every lunch. Fabulous beach - some seaweed but constantly being cleared by hard working staff. Monkeys, Peacocks, Flamingoes, Tucans, Parrots and more animals I can’t pronounce the names of throughout the jungle!- lots to see and beautifully well lit in the evenings. Al a carte restaurants easily reserved. Italian and Japanese fabulous. Rooms smaller than average but plenty big enough and clean. Fully stocked mini fridge daily. Would definitely return to the Tucan/Quetzel. (They are the same resort)

This hotel is outstanding. We found the setting the best of three worlds. The lovely hidden walk through the area we dubbed the rain forest, the lawns and strutting peacocks doing their stuff and the amazingly beautiful, pristine beach. Our room including the bathroom was lovely. Never stayed on the ground floor before and we loved it. All in all a great experience!

We were flying from Montreal, Edmonton & Toronto. She recommended the Iberostar Tucan & It was a great choice we all loved it! Everything was great: employees, service, food, animals, nature etc. Really glad that we found this hotel, I would love to come back again and again!!! We love to spend time on beach but due to wind and seeweed (couple days) we have to relocate to pool area. But it wasn’t high season so we can expect this.

Overall this resort is extremely well run! The grounds are very lush with assorted palms and plants. The peacocks, iguanas, capybaras, monkeys that run wild about the place lend a truly tropical feel. The staff were always very helpful and cheerful; from the front desk to the groundskeeper. There was always an assortment of food to satisfy any tastes. The nightly entertainment was always fun, but could have a bit more variety. Some themes were too similar. The front reception should have more staff on at checkout time and when the new clients are scheduled to arrive. I was very happy overall and would definitely recommend it and will return again for another visit.

Immensely enjoyed my first experience at an Iberostar resort. The Tucan is listed as a 3.5 star property, however service, food, and rooms is 4 star resort at 3.5 star prices! Rooms were large, beds comfortable, service fantastic, grounds wonderful. I will be returning to this property next time I am in Riviera Maya/ Playa Del Carmen. Lynn Lafond

It was paradise. The grounds were amazing. Everything very well looked after . Nice to have wilderness mixed in with the resort. The workers were great ..polite. We would definitely return. The food was very tasty. The 5 alacart restaurants were good.

We arrived in the darkness so was hard to get a first impression. Staff at the check in desk were very friendly and professional.Baggage was taken to our quickly so we could change and get a late dinner. Food in all restaurants was very good with many choices. My favourite was the Japanese restaurant where the chef cooked at your table and put on quite a show. Activity staff were excellent in getting guests to participate and have fun. Rooms were lovely and cleaning staff very attentive to their jobs. Grounds were immaculate and very creative with a jungle setting and natural caves and waterfalls. Spa was very good and hot tub amazing. We walked to local shopping for souvenirs. I celebrated a Birthday while there and they helped me acknowledge it with champagne!!

The grounds, buildings, common areas absolutely beautiful. All employees, entertainment, restaurant servers, bartenders, housekeeping, pool servers....so attentive and friendly and professional. All facilities were beyond our expectations. I can’t wait to go back.

The grounds are kept clean, the staff works very hard and the resort is in a good location. Rooms are typical, but the cleaning staff makes the stay a bit more enjoyable by making sure you have everything you need, towels, stocked fridge and a clean room upon your return after a long day. The walk to Playa is long but enjoyable if you walk the beach, otherwise a cab is your best option for evening. The food is ok, the Japanese restaurant was voted best by our group of 6, and the Mexican was voted the least, but that was because our waiter "rolled his eyes" when we asked to have our drink first before placing our order. The place was not busy but he said he had others coming....so we ate quickly and left. We all enjoyed the wildlife around, and the staff takes good care of you, so if you are looking for a good resort this one is a decent fit.

We stayed in 1200 Block or Rooms on third floor, close to pool and beach, and really not far away from anything. Room overlooked pool, but view blocked by foliage, and had two DOUBLE beds, which we found was pretty tight. Room overall was clean and nice. Greeted several times by monkeys walking across balcony... Dad, Mom and baby. Fine for us, but not for everyone, they were pretty bold, even tried to grab something off our table. A variety of wildlife on grounds, flamingos, peacocks, agoutis, parrots and iguanas. Good alcohol brands and beer (light and amber Dos Equis). Always something to eat, although not spectacular. The a la carte restaurants were good, but not a great deal better than buffet. We ate at Japanese, Mexican and the Steakhouse, with the Steakhouse being the best in our opinion. Recommend the top sirloin. Beach was fantastic! Pool was nice and warm, with physically separate swim-up bar, which was nice. Not too much difficulty getting a lounger anywhere. No disco or after hours activity, if you are looking for that. Lots of families at the resort. Overall, happy with this resort and proximity to Playa Del Carmen. Would stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful clean and the staff is very helpful and polite. The service is impeccable and the man made jungle is unique and well looked after. The only thing that I would recommend to the hotel is to supply bath robes and slippers to their guests.

This was the second time at this resort as we had a wonderful experience the first time. Let me say the staff was the best. Everyone we were in contact with were very helpful and friendly. However this trip was not as good as the first.. The food this time was not up to par. Perhaps they changed head chefs, who knows. The food did not seem to be the quality for a 4 star resort. As for the grounds , everything was clean and well maintained. The animals in the Jungle were a joy to watch, although the peacocks could be a bit annoying at 3 in the morning The beach was beautiful as always, and the size of the resort was just right. All in all yes we would recommend this resort to others. Its proximity to Playa Del Carmen is a plus as well.

The Best Thing About This Resort is the grounds with lush greenery and wild life.Food was excellent and service.Pool was large and clean.Staff were friendly. Beautiful beach and can walk for miles. I will be returning to this resort again. we stayed on the Quetzal side.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzel, loved the jungle walkways, food was great and good wildlife throughout the resort, friendly staff, it was our second trip to this resort and we'll return.

This resort was great! Very clean, great food, great entertainment, and fantastic staff! They were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to vacation.

It was a wonderful experience to be able to walk from our private suite through the lit jungle paths and onto the beach, pools or straight to food and bars. Many activities to enjoy throughout the week at the resort alone! Staff were always making sure we were taken care of example; if there were crumbs or condensation from our cool glasses, someone would come and clean it as we were sitting at a table. Our room was cleaned/tidied up everyday with new towel creations on the bed. The grounds were always clean, no dirt or cigarettes on the paths ever. Buffet was good but we most enjoyed the Japanese and steak house restaurants while we were there! Overall, this resort up was great and we would definitely like to return someday!

I was absolutely amazed about the beautiful nature of this resort. The resort was build around a jungle full of flamingos, monkeys, peacocks, turtles and iguanas. The rooms were beautiful and very we'll appointed. The food was great. Tried the Italian restaurant and the Japanese cooking table. Great show at the Japanese restaurant , the chef was very entertaining. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples The hotel is situated 10 minutes away by cab to playa de Carmen. Cab ride is about $8. The only negative was the fact that there weren't any activities for older teens. A teen room with a pool table or some activities specifically targeted for 16-19 year old would have been great.

We have stayed at this resort 5 times and have yet to find a place we liked more..it's a fabulous resort with chatacter and charm .We brought friends who want to go back next year.. we love iberostar tucan quetzel. .

This was our 4th trip to this resort & probably our last. In the past, we have always contacted the resort with our preferred room location & they have been very accommodating to our requests. I emailed the resort again this year, 1 month prior our trip, requesting a room close to the beach, facing the pool. Claimed they would do their best to accommodate. When we checked in, the fellow at the front counter gave us a room in building 29 (farthest from the beach), facing a parking lot and the room smelled of sewage. The worst location at the resort. They obviously do not appreciate repeat customers. We have never been treated so poorly. After crying & complaining he finally agreed to change our room but not until our 3rd day of our 7 day vacation. Meanwhile, there were people checking in after us that got much better rooms. Also upon checkout, we found to be treated in a very impersonal fashion. No thank you for choosing their resort, no hope you had a nice stay & no wishing you a safe trip home. The checkout clerk barely looked up to see who we were. Very unprofessional. On the upside, the resort is in a beautiful jungle setting with roaming wild life including their star attraction, the monkeys! The pool is huge & the staff do an excellent job at keeping it very clean. The beach is fabulous & is on one of the best locations in the area. The entertainment staff work very hard at keeping guests busy & welcomed. The resort did a fantastic job at renovating after the fire that happened in October. You would never know there was a fire. The outdoor restaurants & bars near the pool/beach area were very good for lunch & snacks. Main buffets had limited selection & always found the food to be cold. For us, the best specialty restaurant was the Steak House. The Japanese was good but Mexican was a disappointment. Cleaning staff did an excellent job as usual. Front desk needs improvement. This is our first time at writing a review & are being as honest as possible. We have brought & recommended many people to this resort over the years & are now contemplating spending our trip dollars elsewhere

well kept property, very friendly staff. Initially did not get our room requests, however we were then moved to another building closer to the beach that matched our request. enjoyed the ice cream at the beach!

Loved this hotel, especially the jungle atmosphere and all the wildlife running around freely. Agoutis, howler monkeys, peacocks, coati, just to name a few critters that we saw. Hotel was fine; looking a little dated, but very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was just okay, but very plentiful. You won't go hungry here; you will always find something you like. The best part of this hotel is the gorgeous beach. The water was beautiful, waves just the right size for ocean "bobbing", some fish in the water, but not anything that bites. Loved its proximity to Playa Del Carmen. I would go back here in a heartbeat.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Iberostar Quetzal. The staff were friendly, our room was spotless, meals were good and the natural wildlife around the hotel made this hotel a very special one. The pools, beachside facilities and restaurants were lovely. The hotel was also within walking distance of Playa del Carmen and very close to a Starbucks. We were very happy with our stay here.

This was the nicest resort I've been to. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms and grounds were spotless. Beautiful animals and scenery to look at. PERFECT!!! The pool was great and lots of lounge chairs available.

We stayed at this resort for a week at the end of February. We found the atmosphere quiet and layed back without the previous known exubarance of the activity star staff, which was fine with us as we came to relax and take in leisure on our own accord. The staff were extremely respectful, friendly and responsive. The meals were incredible in the buffets, snack bars and the a'la carte. Great variety and freshness. Everynight something new was offered to try. The desserts were delicious. There were many options to pool use however I did find the depth of the pool to deep to feel comfortable swimming in but they did offer shallow swim up areas as well. The beach area was most popular but did experience great winds when we were down and the seaweed did create some distraction. This doesn't bother me so much as it is a natural process of the ocean life. The rooms were clean and well equipped. House keeping staff were extremely responsive. The rooms were a bit out dated and linens could do with a bit of refreshing! However, these things were minor when you consider the overall quality of the resort and grounds that make it very magical. The location of this resort allows one to access popular areas of Playa del Carmen to experience the nightlife and fine mexican cuisene all within walking distance. We felt safe and at home in our many walks down to Playa. You could also use the beach access to get to Playa which allows for another option.

6th time to the Tucan/Quetzal and each time it seems a little better. An excellent resort to relax and the wildlife adds another dimension. Staff is always helpful and always seem to be smiling in their work

Everything was good from the service to the food, good place to relax. The pool, beach, entrainment was all very good. Jesus the bar tender made the best margaritas to cool of from the sun. Enjoyed my stay.

Travelled to Iberostar Quetzal Playacar from Jan 27-Feb 3, 2015. This resort is twinned with Iberostar Tucan. The resort is beautiful. I have travelled to the Mayan Riviera at least 10 times and this resort is by far the most unique. Built around the Yucatan jungle, the resort offers you a brief glance of what it must be like to live and walk in the jungle. You walk down pathways (well lit at night) and meet up with peacocks, monkeys, flamingos, egrets and more. Quite unexpected. Waking up to birds was heavenly. The jungle setting is what sets this resort apart from others in the area for sure. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff were friendly. Very clean, the staff are extremely prompt to clean your room and re-stock linens. The beds were very comfortable, as were the pillows - we all know how most hotels you feel like you might as well sleep on the floor. I was quite surprised and actually slept well. Check in was painless. The check in staff were very friendly and we were offered a welcome drink too. I liked the fact that this hotel is on the smaller side so you don't have to fight for chairs at the buffet for breakfast or lunches. The beach was spectacular. Well maintained and never had to fight for a lounge chair and a palapa. The waves were great. A lot of activities for those who are inclined, from stretching to yoga to salsa lessons to archery to zumba on the beach with other water activities also available (for a fee of course). The drink ladies on the beach were great, always pleasant and remembered your name which is always a nice touch. The food was good but the food was often not hot enough. The best thing at the buffet for dinner were the tacos and the omelettes in the morning were great. The a la carte restaurants were ok (I've had much better) but reservations at 630pm or 700pm were tough to come by so recommend you make your reservations as soon as you arrive at the hotel or you will be eating at 9pm. The lobby bar makes great cappuccinos and the orange margueritas were awesome - my new favourite. I wandered the resort many times at night and never felt unsafe. The beauty of this resort is that it is located within the Playacar gated community. Many people own homes in the area and only those living in the area or staying at the hotel are permitted beyond the gates. A local shopping area is also within walking distance of the hotel. I would definitely recommend the Quetzal to others.

This was our 4 trip to the Riviera Maya. We stayed at amazing resorts in the past this was our #1 in Mexico so far. We were 4 adults and enjoyed it. Best beach in Mexico,staff were all friendly and food was good in all restaurant. Always something to do. Great entertainment. We did two tours ( tulum ruins, Xel-Ha park) both must do when there.

We loved this resort...everything from check in to check out was fantastic. (Traveled January 24-31 2015 with husband, grandma and daughters ages: 13, 14, 17.) We were looking for a relaxing family vacation in the sun, and this resort does well to provide that. We especially appreciated the jungle with wildlife, and the comfortable laid back atmosphere. The grounds and decor are gorgeous, and although not necessarily a ritzy or party type resort, (pleased because we weren't looking for that) we all had so much fun. There are several daily activities planned and implemented by the Star Friends with something to satisfy all ages. These energetic Star Friends go above and beyond to greet you individually, and make you feel welcome. ALL of the staff went out of their way to make our vacation a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The entire resort is immaculately clean, rooms are adequate (we stayed in Quetzal basic), service is excellent, drinks and food are plentiful and appetizing. Anything regarding food or drink was honoured whenever possible. All requests or concerns we had were handled with professionalism and care. They are very accommodating with everything you ask. Every employee was friendly and helpful and they were ALWAYS working hard. The beach is absolutely perfect!

Why waste time and money with any other property? We have travelled a lot and been to many 4 and 5 stars. The food here was fantastic, service kind and experience amazing. It was close to playa central and we would definitely recommend it to anyone and return.

I went to the Iberostar Tucan December 15 for 1 week. Had a room closest to the beach and pool area. That was great. The pool is beautiful, beach amaizing and close to Playa des Carmen which is a must for shopping. If you g0 in the evening lots of nice restaurants and bars. The pool bar is gorgeous but set back and separate from the main pool area. The hotel is really set in a jungle type setting which isn't my style but the location of the room made up for it. Staff great and the food was great too, even the desserts. Nice size, easy to walk back and fourth. Great for children because of the jungle. The room itself was perfect. The walkin shower great. Once again if your looking for a beautiful view from your balcony this hotel may not be for you. It is truly more of a jungle type view but the room was perfect.

There are 2 resorts in one - the Tucan and the Quetzal both equally beautiful with and it isn't difficult to get lost in the jungle sights and sounds between them with the natural vegetation, running water and wildlife which includes peacocks, agouti, coati and howler monkeys. The food is good and the service was excellent. We met many people who have returned to this resort and I wouldn't hesitate to again however, not at this time of the year - maybe a month later as it was the rainy season and we did experience that. We had rain 5 of the 9 days there. I slipped on the stairs and unfortunately broke a bone in my leg on day 5. The resort staff were excellent particularly guest services representative Taskia and the resort doctor - Lucia. The hospital experience was also very good - we spend 3 hours there and the cost for xrays, consultation and casting (waterproof so I could still swim) was $1,200 US. The doctor (Dr. Corona-Gomez) was very thorough making a cut up the front of the cast to allow for any swelling on the plane home and providing me with anticoagulants to take before & after the flight to avoid a blood clot. Despite the fracture, we still had a very positive experience and would definitely go back again!! A hats off to Berenice & Laura of the Star Friends group!

We had a great time for at this resort for ten days. It was great to visit with the animals in the jungle and cool off at the same time. The food at the buffet was the best we've encountered in any resort, and the trays were constantly replaced or refilled. There were many activities offered by the resort (from archery to zumba), and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. The ocean there is reasonably clean and the swimming was great there and in the pool. The rooms were made up nicely every day and the mini bar was well serviced. Just one suggestion for the buffet would be to increase the heat lamps to keep the great food hotter.

The hotel is well located . The transfer from airport to hotel was fast. It is à short taxi ride to playa del Carmen . The grounds of the hotel were amazing. We had an océan front room which was Worth the up grade. The beach is well maintained. staff are very friendly. Food was ok.
