Welcoming resort
The Hotel in itself has a very large and clean compound.Their staff is very welcoming and polite. The fact that we have access to several restaurants in nearby hotels was also very interesting and I was able to taste a large variety of food.Howether on teh negative note,i would say the that the beach was not attractive at all with the sea weeds.

Wonderful Resort
I would give this resort 5 stars. All the staff were professional, kind, and very helpful. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the walkways were kept clean, and I felt like I was in another world. The pools were great, but the beach not so much, but was expecting that. We had a swim-up room - best thing ever! Delicious Margaritas were offered where ever we went - our balcony, pool-side... The food was great, and there were so many choices of restaurants and snacks. All transportation was handled well - very organized and on time. Just a great spot and I can't wait to go back.

Supreme Resort
This resort is stunning in every way, the grounds are so well kept and beautiful. Lots of Palm tree and flowering growth everywhere. The rooms are kept very clean along with the multipule pools. The service was fantastic at the bars, pool service and we had a swim up room that was imaculate and had drink service there also. The room service was available 24/7 and we used a few times for late snacks and also breakfast. This resort unfortanutly does not have a usable beach, so much seaweed, it was unapprochable. Felt sorry for the workers trying to clean up seaweed as it was a never ending battle. We took a day tour to a beautiful beach Maroma, about 30 minutes away and went on a catamaran and tried snorkling for the first time. The swim out to the reef was very far and water was wavy, so I was not able to swim that far away in the wavy water, but practiced snorkling around the catamaran. Our room was also Ocean front so we could swim in our own pool and hear and see the sea while doing so. There are rides available from golf carts and never ever waited very long for a ride. There are many ala cart resteraunts, and the buffet on El Dorado Royale was smaller scale, but lots of delishious options, which were all so good.

Excellent Eldorado Stay
My spouse and I just enjoy a 2nd visit to the Eldorado Royale in March of 2026, we visited last year in 2025 at the same time. We had such a great experiences last year, we jumped at the opportunity to return. Highlights are the amazing pools, great services in all areas of the resort, mature and lush grounds, and fantastic food. The Royale has the best all-inclusive food that we have experienced (we travel once or twice a winter). We really enjoy the variety of the food options for all meals - that there are 4 or 5 places to have breakfast and lunch, and then all the different a la quarters for evening. The bar staff are excellent and have top of line spirts available and definitely remember to visit the lobby/martini bar - best drinks. The resorts if very spread out, which we enjoy as it makes us walk a lot, but for other there is a constant stream of customized golf carts to deliver you where you need to go. The beach is limited unfortunately from past hurricanes, but there are spots to swim and sit on the beach in many locations. More inclusive options - Lomas Hospitality provide several activities / excursions at no cost - at day at Maroma Beach, where you can stay at the beach club with a fantastic beach and beach club with great food and drink or you can add a half day snorkelling excursion to this (rays, turtle, large variety of fish) as well as a lot of fun and drink on the trip. There is also activities such as bike rides and horses to explore. This is a great adults only resorts, not a party place, but a resorts to relax, enjoy the pools, the water, the food and great conversations with people from around the world.

Amazing Resort and Staff
We just returned from a seven-night stay at El Dorado Royale. We’ve been to Mexico many times, but this was our first visit to this resort. Wanting to try somewhere new—and having heard great things—we decided to give it a chance, and we’re so glad we did. I’m someone who loves quiet mornings with a book and a coffee, followed by more social afternoons, and this resort made that balance effortless. With so many pools to choose from, it was easy to find exactly the vibe we were looking for at any given time. The true hidden gem for us was the Health Bar pool. We discovered it on our first day and, for a while, felt like we had our own private oasis. As the week went on, more guests found their way there, which only made it better—we got to know people, shared laughs, and made some wonderful new friends. A huge shout-out to Mavili, who served us lunch there every single day. She is absolutely amazing—attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful. She made us feel so welcome and truly elevated our experience. A real treasure. In the evenings, we often visited the martini bar, and the staff there were just as amazing. A huge shout-out to Joseline, who took incredible care of us and made sure all our needs were met. Her warmth and attention truly stood out and made our evenings even more enjoyable. Another special mention goes to Isareli, who checked on us daily at the Health Bar pool to ensure everything was perfect. That level of care and consistency did not go unnoticed and really speaks to the exceptional service at this resort. The food throughout the resort was excellent, the rooms were cleaned in a timely manner, and room service was great. The grounds were immaculate, and I loved being only a short twenty-minute ride from the airport. Before we even arrived, I messaged the resort to let them know it was our 35th anniversary. David Ortiz immediately responded, making sure we would be well taken care of—and we absolutely were. In celebration of our anniversary, we did the candlelight beachside dinner, which was absolutely spectacular—a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you David. I highly recommend this resort, and honestly, the staff alone would bring us back without hesitation.

Amazing resort!
We just returned from the El Dorado Royale and had an amazing time! My friends and I had an absolute blast. The resort is beautiful, the grounds are stunning, and the food was incredible-truly felt like fine dining every night. The only downside was the room service; we never received what we ordered, even after trying a few times. Other than that, everything else was fantastic and we loved our stay! We will be back!

Don't know what happened....
Don't know what happened but after years of glowing reviews and positive comments about service and food I have noticed a steady decline on the favourable comments from all review sites. Despite this my wife and I plus my daughter and her husband decided to try your resort. I love the fact that it is a mature resort and very lush but from the start signage is none existent. They dont't provide you with a particularly detailed resort map. Hours of operation for the various venues are not posted. Drinks are inconsistent ..even from the same bartender. We did have a number of resort employees who were marvelous and seemed sincere. We did have concierge service but once it was determined that we were not likely time share candidates this seemed to be an inconvenience. Food quality was absolutely hit and miss. When the best meal you have is from the hamburger and rib bar on the beach (and it was really, really good) you know you are going to have a problem. Resort is defiantly not designed for anyone who may have mobility challenges. It is absolutely insane that they have a wheelchair ramp at the resort entrance which is one or two stories above the resort grounds but you need to use steps to get down to the resort. My son in law quickly established contacts with the resort drivers was was a blessing as he made sure my wife and I seldom had to walk long distances to the various restaurants scattered around the resort. The one perk my wife and I have had is the ability to travel to many resorts over our 52 years of marriage. Sad to say that at one time (maybe 20 years ago) this would have been the benchmark resort. Sadly many resorts in many other countries are able to deliver far better experiences at lesser prices. Too bad. Rooms 3.0 Service3.0 Location3.0 Rooms average at best Nearby activities Did not leave the resort Safety not designed for anyone with mobility Issues. (ie safety handles in washroom ) Walkability: Way to spread out Food & drinks: Inconsistent Noteworthy details: Not the resort it might have once been. Many others out there at lesser price and higher quality. Seems to attract a lot of younger people who simply want to party all day and night long. A lot of vomit on stair ways and walk ways if you get up early in the morning. Used room service plates and cups left outside of rooms overnight constantly attracting local wildlife looking for a meal all night long!!!

Great Resort
The grounds and rooms are beautiful. Everything is clean and well kept. The service right from the beginning to end. Axel at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating our needs. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and Victor was an excellent server. Could not have anyone better! The pools are wonderful with all the swim up bars. There are quieter pools and some with more action and fun. The food was really good. The staff helped us celebrate two special occasions by doing special things for us. On Canada we received special chocolates. The only downfall was you could not use the ocean.

Great Property and Lots of Options
Hotel/Buildings and grounds were beautiful. Staff are very hard working and restaurant staff went above and beyond. This resort is massive and lots of options for restaurants and walking. If you want beach swimming this is not your resort, red flags are always up indicating it's too dangerous to swim. The beach area is very windy as well but nice. There are lots of balibeds and loungers and never a shortage. Staff are clearing the seaweed off the beach every day. There are several pools but if you want a quiet spot you may not get it depending on the others around you. Although they say tipping is optional it is completely expected and sometime outright asked for. The high pressure sales of their club membership is a 2 hour session...they say it's 1.5 hours and will offer several benefits to get you to attend. They say they can only give their pitch once yet when we were in the lobby leaving we got the sales pitch another 3 times by the staff roaming the lobby...politely declining again and again and again. Each restaurant offers their recommended wine options for a high mark up cost but they always have house wine, which is included in your "all inclusive"

Great Week at Eldorado Royale Resort
My wife and I just had a great week at the Royale. The food was exceptional, some of the best food we have had at an all-inclusive resort. The Royale had many pools, so lots of options to find a great spot to find your day. The beach is rocky so ocean swimming is challenging, but we knew this well in advance. The rooms are a bit dated, but extremely functional - very clean, fridge well stocked, bed very comfortable, and AC worked very well. As this resort is a bit older, the vegetation is very mature, so it is very lush and tropical. The staff are very hard working and generally the service is excellent (a few bumps). Overall, we have a fantastic week and we would definitely return.

Good trip
this was a very nice resort, not a great beach though you can't really go into the water in front of the resort because its too choppy and there is big cement barriers in the water, did a day trip twice to the sister resort Moroma beach and it was amazing, found out on our last day from our taxi driver that there is lots of other stuff to do at our resort such as horse rides, cenotes etc that no one at our resort even told us about, it was tough to get fresh towels daily and some days they didn't even clean our rooms. You must make dinner reservations the very first day you arrive or you will have trouble getting in for dinner as they don't have a daily buffet restaurant, we had a larger group so it was a bit of a struggle and a few of our reservations got messed up. overall we had a great time because of the people we went with but I would likely not return here

Will not go back
This resort is spread over three sections. It is very large and not what we are used to. The food was excellent which is one of the only things I would rate highly. Staff are very disorganized and at time double booking rooms. I suffered from bites of some sort and could not go near the beach. This is not a resort for swimming at the beach. The feeling is they are to large and cannot care for guests. There was also no greeting from the resort staff or travel rep on site. Our room overlooked the back of a restaurant for a swim up beach view room which cost more. Golf cart everywhere that you were constantly moving out of the way for.

Didn't live up to the hype
A really nice resort. Manicured landscapes, super attentive staff, mostly. Our concierge didn't help us out one bit. The restaurants require reservations made through an app. It is designed for parties of 2. We had 4 in our group and could never get in anywhere. Our concierge didn't care. The food was good, excellent presentation but most dishes lacked flavor. They cater to the masses but when a dish is described as spicy it should have something to taste. We couldn't find anywhere to get an early morning coffee and pastry before 7am. The main breakfast buffet was very lacking. The bars were very inconsistent in their mixed drinks. A strawberry daiquiri should taste the same everywhere but only one bar made them well. The property is massive, a 15 minute walk to a few of the restaurants, the golf cart rides are inconsistent. Our room in the 4400 block was showing signs of aging. We continually had to call for towels, we never did get robes delivered. The pools were cold but clean, the beach wasn't the best by far. The upside is their "More Inclusive" additions, Maroma beach excursion with catamaran ride, snorkeling and BBQ is included along with trips to Cenote's, the private airport transfer is a nice touch for no charge. Overall there is better value for the money out there. An honest 4 star, not 5

Another great Holiday
I saw a hoilday on trip central website in Cancun area. I phoned Manuela as I always do to talk about our trip. The hotel wasn't available and Manuela says how about the El Dorado Royale. It's Foodie resort I said sure I trust you. The food was amazing (we loved the burger from Room service the most) Don't get me wrong the burgers were awesome at all the different restaurants. If I had one complaint it was really hard to get into the restaurants if you didn't have a reservation.. who knows what your doing and what time your going to be back. The rooms are very comfortable Mini bar was restocked every day. Jacuzzi was an added bonus. The grounds were immaculate and I even saw people racking the beach ALL THE STAFF greeted you with a smile every time they saw you. Go ahead and spoil yourself book a trip to the El Dorado Royale and get ready to be spoiled!!

3 stars at best. Don’t go.
Pros: food is great. Cons: you can’t get a reservation despite needing one and being ‘gourmet all inclusive’, major timeshare / up sell / monetizing all the time (not really all inclusive), VERY over priced for value, room is dated, beach is not awesome, pools are freezing. We are here as a couple and are hugely disappointed. This is a 3 star resort at best.

Nice resort.
Excellent resort to spend quiet and relaxing time walking through the coconut trees. Not good for people who are looking to swim on the ocean’s beach, only swimming option is the pools, where you have many pools to choose from. All dinings were good, my only comment is on the Fuentes restaurant, where the chef teaches you how to cook your diner dishes. My complaint is on the heavy smoke in the restaurant that makes me hard to breathe and my clothes smell the smoke for days after the diner. This definitely needs to be addressed by the resort.

Loved this resort! I almost cancelled.
Thankfully my travel agent encouraged me to try this resort! Beautiful grounds, hundreds of palm trees, restaurants were great! Favourite breakfast-Cocotal, lunch - the health bar if your into salads and sitting at the ocean. Dinners, there were a few favs - D’Italia villas. Nothing was crowded because the property is large enough that you can freely walk along the paths along the ocean. With 12 pools you will enjoy a daily swim - never a shortage of loungers. We had a great time every evening - entertainment was a lot of fun, from live-shows to concert, bands. Something every night. I have been to a few 5 star resorts, this one is now one of the best. Staff is professional and personable. It was so relaxing, and everyone we spoke with was having the best experience as well, most people we met had been there before- some 10 years in a row. I think my husband & I will come here at least 2 weeks every winter.

The resort is great. The location is okay. Just a short distance to Play Del Carmen or Cancun if you need to go shopping. The resort is safe, very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and ready to help when you need it. The room was spacious, clean and tidy. The room service is 24/7. We got a garden view and did not regret about. The drinks are good. The food could be a bit better, but this is very subjective. My wife got poisoned at an Asian restaurant as sushi is not sushi, but something that shouldn't be never served/taken. The beach is small (open for swimming) but comfortable. The resort's territory is big enough if you like to walk. Entertainment every night.

Fantastic Time!!
We had a great time. This is the second time we have visited this resort and I was not disappointed. We have never returned to a resort before, and I say We would come even come back a third time. We brought our freinds with us, on our recommendation, so we were a little worried. But that worry was unfounded, because they loved the resort! The food was great! If you are a foody, then I would definetly try this resort. The buffets changed daily and did not serve the "same old, same old" everyday. That was a nice change from the last couple resorts that we had visited. I was actually looking forward to what was on display everyday. Loved all the restaurants :) The hotel grounds are very well kept. The room was clean. Most of the hotel staff were very friendly, (with the exception of a couple people who were not very engaging and did not smile). The only downside were the glasses left at the entry to our room and the cleaning cart that we had to navigate around "every time" we came back to our room. The entrance was a little cluttered. There were glasses, napkins, bottles, room service trays etc etc. I think the resort staff should take note of this, because this was the only negative we had for the week and this stuff should have been attended to immediately :( We had a great week and would definitely come back for a 3rd visit.

Eduardo the beach butler, Caesar the bartender at Jojos and to our amazing butler team of Kay, Berenissa, Manuel and Ivan. The rooms are being updated and we were in a royal swim up suite which was breathtaking. Food, just wow, this is a gourmet inclusive resort, top shelf alcohol on request. Never going back!
We stayed in a swimup suite with a salt water lazy river attached. The lazy river did not really connect to the swim up bar. To get to the swim up bar you had to cross over a small wall. That area seemed to accumulate a lot of dirt and green matter floating on the surface. It was not pleasant crossing over. Although I would see the pool boys cleaning the lazy river every 2nd day that area was always dirty. Waiters servicing the swim up rooms with drinks was very rare and depended on staff availability. There was always 1 waiter and bartender to wait for the pool and swim up area so service was slow. There were several restaurants on the resort but not all restaurants were opened. This created a problem with over crowding and long wait times. The day we arrived we were turned away from 3 restaurants due to long waiting times. The day we arrived the resort had 11 weddings and this created a problem because the staff's priority was to service the wedding parties. If you do decide to visit, be prepared to deal with the concierge, they are always contacting you to try to sell you a membership for their time shares. There is always an upsell, from mexican fiesta night to wine and food. The standard steak is flank steak and tenderloin but only available at 1 restaurant. Lobster is extra. Standard wine is their house, anything else you need to purshase. For restaurants that are open for lunch and dinner it is the same menu and it never changes. The portion sizes were very small and my husband always had to ask for double portions. The room service was limited and very rare was the food warm, waiting time was between 1hr to 1hr and 30 mins. Their desserts were not very good and tasted bland. They had a Mexican fiesta night and were charging the guests from 45 to 90 USD, they called it VIP seating. I have never come across this before in any resorts that I have visited. Fiestas are always for everyone and there is never a charge. Our room was always cold and damp, we needed 4 blankets to sleep well at night. The rooms were old and of desperate need of an update. The lighting in the bathroom was so poor it was difficult to get ready at night. The patio door did not lock and the tub looked like like it came from the 80's. I have visited many all inclusive adult resorts and for this resort I spent the most and was surprised on the condition of the resort. There was always a sewage smell throughout the resort that was hard to get used to.

A Beautiful Resort
This resort was set up very well. The layout makes it feel more spacious then a single series of buildings. It is surrounded by lovely gardens, pools, fountains and the restaurants are each located in their own area. You can do plenty of walking as the resort is connected to two of it's sister resorts and you can eat at the restaurants in the other resorts as part of your all inclusive package. Regular shuttles go back and forth for those less than avid walkers. The food was excellent and the service was very good.

Great relaxing vacation!
Just returned from the El Dorado Royale and had a fantastic vacation. The room was very spacious, although the open concept (including the bathroom) was a little awkward as there is little to no privacy. Even the closest of couples need some privacy. We stayed in a beachfront junior jacuzzi suite on the second floor and this provided for spectacular views of the ocean. The food (with the exception of the pizza) was fantastic and we enjoyed every meal. The only downside was breakfast where although there was one restaurant that offered a la carte choices, the resort mainly wanted you to select options from a buffet. I am not a fan of buffet, so this wasn't optimal for me.The beach, while beautiful is not really swimable. If you are looking for a beach that you can swim in the ocean, then this is likely not the right resort for you. They work hard to keep the sea weed cleared, but this seems to be a pointless task as it keeps coming all day long. There are also some sand bags and other obstacles that have been put into the water to prevent erosion which we were prepared for and have seen at other resorts. You can't blame a property owner from trying to protect the erosion of their land. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We wanted for nothing. There is a concierge service that is shared between the residents of two buildings and they are somewhat helpful, but it seems their main role is to up sell you on services and try to get you to "tour†their property and sell you either future trips or club memberships. We didn't make too much use of the concierge as a result of this constant push to buy spa or other treatments.

Think twice
Eldorado Royale The hotel catered to their members only and provided second rate services to those who did not join. The Japenese restaurant was not considered one of thier best restaurants but it was exemplary, the food and staff amazing! The 2 restaurants that needed reservations to go to were simply ok,not the best and really pushed an upsell for thier wines and tequilas. There was only one restaurant open for breakfast at the Royale from Monday to Thursday which made it hard to get in for breakfast, and even harder to time it when there was food in the buffet. Very difficult to get decent coffee at any time unless you paid for Starbucks. The main pool had limited seating and it was hard to reserve seats unless you paid $200 per day for a Bali Bed. The beach was rocky and despite the workers working extremely hard to remove the extensive seaweed it was always dirty. The beach was definitely not swimmer friendly. The entertainment was great! The shows were amazing and Mexican night was one of the best! Jojos bar had late night dancing which Was extremely fun! But they always ran Out of grey goose vodka by 6 pm And substituted it with various low level vodkas. If you decide on this resort make sure you ask for an Ocean Front room? Otherwise you are stuck in the back of the resort. All In all I would rate this place at a 3.5. The staff I would rate at a 5!

Wonderful service, shame about the beach
El Dorado Royale is a wonderful resort if you want attention to detail, efficient and friendly staff, carefully tended grounds, artfully presented and tasty food and well appointed, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and pillows. However, the beach was greatly disappointing. The ocean beach floor was primarily rough, hard coral and the waves and seaweed made it very difficult to participate in water sports. Up-selling is the order of the day at the resort. I had booked an ocean view room and when checking in, I made mention of the view. I was told that my room looked over a building and trees but for an additional cost, I could get an ocean view room. I declined, and when I checked into my room, I was delighted to see my room faced the ocean. It was a glorious view. Also be aware of the time share seminar that you will be invited to attend.

Beautiful Resort with some drawbacks
Beautiful resort, However nothing in life is perfect. There was not enough beach side and pool side service resulting in long waits for drinks. Room service, at least 1 hr waits for delivery. Restaurants food quality was amazing, however wait times were at times 1hr. I could understand this if the dining room was full, however when half the tables were empty and we were given a pager, no explanation despite repeated questions as to why, just a smile. The concierge annoyed and badgered you to attend the sales presentation for an expensive membership. The pool and bar closes way to early. This is an adult resort , we don't have bedtimes. The evening shows were impressive and the Mexican fiesta night was amazing with outstanding performances. Room quality was outstanding.

A fantastic place to stay!
The staff were great. The rooms were comfy and we'll kept. The food is amazing. I cannot wait to go back. If I could, I would have stayed there and never come home. The pools were all great, but I liked that some were salt-water and some were not.

Amazing Resort & People
I had an absolutely fabulous time. The staff was nice, the hotel was beautiful, the restaurants were great. I was able to obtain beds by the pool every morning (usually got there by 7 am to save our spot). My only complaint about the resort was the beach property really wasn't nice while we were there. There was algae everywhere, and so much we couldn't even enter the water. I was advised of this prior to going by Rebecca my travel agent. I was quote content by the pool, so it didn't bother me too much. This resort has so many restaurants, I believe 10 or 11 in total and only 2 of those require reservations which was amazing. I would definitely go back to this resort and highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation.

Not bad, not perfect
The hotel is great. The service is also great but the beach is the worst thing for this hotel. Also, we got there for the food (apparently) it was a great place for the food - Culinary experience. Well, I'm not saying it wasn't good but not much restaurant where we could say WOW WOW WOW ! So the culinary experience is what I would called an ordinary food experience. To finish, another thing that is not great is the fact that you keep waiting for the restaurant all the time. Because there is no reservation, unless you want to eat at 6H, you will wait form 30 to 90 min depending of the restaurant and the time.

Exceeded expectations!!!!
The Hotel, grounds, services, people, food, room were totally amazing. i would recommend this place to anyone. Everyone was friendly and polite room service was prompt and excellent, personal concierge Luis was extremely helpful he went out of his way on numerous occasions which surprised and amazed my wife and I. Sitting on the beach waiters would come by and offer you ice water that they were carrying, not expecting a tip just courtesy!!!!! Wow!!!

Nice Relaxing Resort
This was a nice relaxing resort. It never felt crowded, as it was spread out along the ocean. You could get a shaded outdoor bed at anytime. Lots of natural palm trees provided shade everywhere. Both at the pools, and along the walkways. There was a lot of variety of food and restaurants. The house wines were decent. Premium liquors were readily available. The resort staff were genuinely friendly. More friendly than any other mexican resort that we've been to. Downfalls - The water at the beach was too rough for swimming or snorkeling. There is no proper disco. There are NO fresh juices offered at the resort, aside from a couple of small glasses at the breakfast buffet. That was pretty disappointing for a gourmet food resort. My husband got food poisoning at the resort. He has never been sick at any other resort in Mexico.

Wonderful vacation away from the cold!
El Dorado Royale was a nice resort with lovely grounds and excellent food. The beach was a bit disappointing as it was generally steep, dirty most of the time, and very little safe areas to swim if you wanted due to the surf and rocks. That said, there were lots of restaurants and bars to choose from and the serving staff were excellent.

Such a great resort
We had a short stay at El Dorado Royale for our 20th anniversary. It was an exceptional experience. The resort is very well managed - people are very friendly and always say Hola to you whenever and wherever they see you. The resort is beautiful and almost every step of your walk you can snap a great picture. The personal concierge and room services are great - we were hugely surprised for two nights that our room and bed were decorated with rose petals, as well as sparkling wine and chocolate-coated strawberries - very thoughtful and romantic!

Five Star all the way
I was blown away at the quality of the made to order gourmet food. The Canadian Beef Culinary food was bare none the best we have ever experienced at a resort. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved that the resort has their own greenhouses. Rooms were lovely and we were surprised for our 30th Anniversary with Champagne, a sign on our door and roses petals on our bed. Our only disappointment is that the ocean was not swimmable. We do understand the why behind it and know in a few years this hopefully won't be an issue. We will definitely be going back!!

Royal Treatment at "El Dorado Royale"
We have traveled to many resorts always 4 or 5 *. El Dorado Royale was simply wonderful, the food was truly gourmet quality. The flavours, variety and presentation all top notch in every location. Our room was great with good access to many areas (building 15). Great tram system when going further distances within this large resort. This staff excel at customer service in all areas and their enthusiasm was evident. Nice that there was no restriction on beach towels. All public areas very clean. The beach is extensive and while quite rocky there are a few areas where you can enter to cool off without needing water shoes. Lots of palapas. Beach Loungers would benefit from cushions. We enjoyed a EXCELLENTE,FANTASTICO week and plan to return.

The grounds of this resort are beautiful. The people are friendly. There is some inconsistency in the service overall. For example, some days you get turn down service and some days you don’t. The food was wonderful but the service sometimes was lacking. Not always getting your order correct.

Nice, fun and relaxing week!
Overall this hotel was lovely. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the choices of restaurants and areas to go and things to do was good! I thoroughly enjoyed my week there. There were only a few things to comment on in regards to service. I found service was inconsistent and when it was good it was fantastic and there was the occasional times where it was not so good. Things like room cleaning and differences of restaurants were some of the inconsistencies we found. Overall the hotel and the week was great and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Amazing Resort - Perfect for Couples!!
This was our second trip back - and won't be our last! We absolutely love everything about the El Dorado! Food: Is amazing and not any of your typical line-up buffet style, you are seated with a menu, and the quality and service is excellent! They also have 24 hour room service which is also - amazing! Drinks: All top shelf (you do have to request the brand you would like), however the bar is full of all the items you would drink at home, and they are happy to make you all kinds of delicious cocktails Room: We decided to get a swim up this time - and I would HIGHLY recommend this, the pool butler brings you fresh towels, snacks and ice cream, and the servers even bring you drinks while you swim about in your room Conceirge: While we decided not to do the 'sales presentation', they were most welcome offering us a pillow menu and different aromatherapy sprays for the room. They also helped to find out about our return transportation for us. We were celebrating our Anniversary and they included a free romantic beach dinner, a HUGE breakfast in bed, along with all kinds of other things, including sparkling wine and flowers brought to the room (on a few occasions!!) Overall, the resort is just beautiful - it is large (you can use the restaurants etc at the adjoining hotel) but feels small and all the staff are so friendly. The only 'slightly' negative would be that the beach is not the greatest, however it is still not bad, and there are plenty of pools all over the resort that you would never be far away from water!

Simply the best!!!!
We just returned from our 14th ....yes 14th stay at the El Dorado Royale. We have been to other resorts on the Maya Riviera, but found EDR to be the BEST! The main reasons we love this place so much are: 1:The staff here are just fantastic and go out of there way to do whatever they can to make your vacation wonderful. Front desk:Francisco...always takes care of us Jimmy our dear friend. Spot:Celestino breakfast sever (we have known him for 15 years)!great worker and friend. So many other severs have treated us so well.... Gregorio,Efran,Alex,Sammy,Humberto and our dear friend Jose. All the bartenders are fantastic,Darwin,Juan ,Jovany and Fucadus. Thanks again to you all for yet another amazing vacation. These people and many more keep us coming back because of the service and friendship you give us. 2: Every time we return there are always new and improved things to enjoy. This time they changed many of the menus, and the food in some of the restaurants was even better than in the past.We didn't think it was possible to improve the already great food ,but they did it! The new menu at Cocatel was one of our fav meals this time ,fantastic! And the mew menu at Kampai was so good !!!! Loved it before ...but loved the new one. Don't miss the sea bass wontons and the seared tuna!!!!amazing !!! 3: And the third reason we love this resort so much is the amazing fellow guests we have met over the years!!!This time was no exception....we had so much fun meeting all the great couples we did this trip. So many great couples ,can't mention them all ,but cheers to All the "Lynn's" and their husbands we met this time!! Also... Chelsea and Cody Cody and Chris And so many couples from England . We enjoyed meeting you all...thanks for the good times.!! Untill next time!!! Love Lynn and Larry Canada.

Gourmet is included
I was skeptical about the gourmet included, but most of the food really was more than routine. I liked the smaller portions, every dinner was 3 course (app + main + dessert) and I was pleasantly satisfied, not stuffed. Kampai for lunch had larger portions. Tried all restaurants except Santa Fe (can't comment). Did 5 course at Fuentes on Tuesday without wine pairing (just had table Chardonnay), and 4 course Canadian Beef demo with wine pairing (careful, that's 4 or 5 glasses). Service was very good, only 1 waiter was unenthusiastic (but still fine, not rude). Liked the morning tours and evening shows (Mexico Lindo was best show, ranch tour was best morning). Shout out to Gerry at Tucanes pool bar, very good and consistent all week. Would recommend Tucanes pool as less busy. 50% of the time you could still get a chair by lunch (not always). Room A/C kept room cool but damp. We discovered a setting which did dry a little more, but kept forgetting to use it. Getting a golf cart taxi was sometimes difficult, going to the stop by the main clubhouse worked best. Would consider upgrading to casitas next time depending on cost, but our room was fine and closer to restaurants and shows than casitas (bldg 08xx), without any noise. Took evening shuttle to Playa del Carmen, thought it'd be too short, but was enough time to walk around 5th avenue and have dinner (otherwise get a taxi for $400 MXN +/-).

Excellent resort
Very satisfied with our week's stay at El Dorado Royale. Grounds are impeccable, staff are extremely courteous and friendly and will do anything to accommodate guests. Food and drinks are excellent and a great choice of restaurants. Many pools available for different tastes. We were made to feel very very welcome and special by all staff. I was disappointed with the void of cultural music and atmosphere, at times had to remind myself that it was Mexico this was evident at most of the restaurants which made for a dull ambiance at times. And a small thing: a lot of the beach lounge chairs were in poor condition and uncomfortable especially in the Royale section.

Amazing Resort
We arrived home on April 6th, and it as one of our most favorable vacations we have had The weather was fantastic with a light bit of a breeze We were well aware that the coast has a seaweed problem but the staffed worked very hard in keeping it clear every day!! Our room was 418 and they kept it spotlessly clean, with plenty of towels, and we found the beds and pillows very comfortable, the mini bar was always well stocked, they even changed the pops for us as I don’t drink Coke We visited most of the restaurants over our one week stay, D'Italia Royal, Cocotal, the Santa Fe Grill, La Isla where very good, as was the Rincon Mexicano. The Kampai Restaurant was great as well we loved the Sushi. We really enjoyed the Fuentes Culinary Restaurant which was a great experience, we have never seen anything like that and food was fantastic We were so impressed with the waiters on how professional they all were and how they all made us fell important The staff were very friendly and most helpful, to many waiters and staff to name them all I would say my top employee was the person that cleaned our room and am so sorry I forgot her name but I have never seen anyone so detailed on what she did - I hope the management recognises all the hard work they all do! We were so impress with the Resort, the Staff the Restaurants and the full experience the El Dorado Royale that we have become Members of the Exotic Travelers We look forward in returning to El Dorado Royale and visiting their sister locations

Not worth the money
Where do I begin? The rooms are dark and dingy. The a/c could not keep up with the humidity, our clothes and bedding were always damp and the room smelt musty. 3 of the 7 nights that we were there our room was not cleaned. The food is good, what little you got. Room service was a must and used it regularily to get enough to feel satisfied. The beach is terrible, the week we were there it was a sea weed battle. The beds are very uncomfortable and unable to get comfortable. The mattress was a mess! The resort was far too large for us. They need more smorgasbords during the day hours.

Great resort if you are booked in a Premium junior suite
First of all this is a great resort with great restaurants. But booking a Premium suite gets you VIP treatment. Important if you don't like waiting 35-45 minutes every time you want to eat a meal. When you book a Premium junior juccazzi suite with a swim up pool outside your patio door with two lounge chairs and a deck with two chairs and a table it makes for a fantastic vacation. You are on the ground floor facing the ocean (30 seconds away - but you still need to get up between 6a and 6:30a if you want two lounge chairs under a thatched umbrella or hut on the beach). Just put your towells on the chairs, sit down and watch the spectacular sunrise at 7:15am or so. Then go back to the room enjoy the sun on the deck waiting for room service to deliver breakfast. While sitting on the deck enjoy champagne and OJ delivered to you (same guy brings you drinks either to the deck or to the beach all day.) It helps if you bring a wad of $1 dollar bills to hand out as tips. We gave out $2 tips with each delivery. Well worth the expense to not have to chase someone for drinks. Between 2p and 3p the Ice Cream Man brings you ice cream in a cup. It's great. When you arrive go to the conceirge hut just outside your room and book your dinners at the restaurant of you choice. Show up at the time of your reservation, give your room number and you're at your table in 60 seconds. No waiting for Premium guests at dinner time. No reservations for lunch so you're on your own. Food is great at JoJos, sit on swings while having a drink. Rincon Mexicano was disappointing because it is gourmet and not Cdn or American style fast food Mexican. D'Italia Villa was excellent. Cocotal (world wide cuisine) was mixed - my beef was tender but the pork was tough. We were there for a four day weekend so we didn't have time to try La Isla, Kampal, the Santa Fe Grill or the Fuentes where the chef erxplains how they cooked each course. It's a two and a half hour experience. The beach has nice sand and not crowded because there are limited chairs (which is OK because most people were by the many pools or their swim up pools) My wife on the otherhand, disagrees with me. You pay a lot of money to be there and she believes there should be more chairs available for guests who want to be on the beach. That said there is another beach about a five minute walk from our room that looked like it had a lot more chairs than ours. Our travel agent warned us that you really can't go into the water because of the rocks and rough waves. There are large black sand bags (looks like beached whales) and cement blocks to break the surf (looks like the German fortifications at Normandy). After awhile you get used to it and besides, you're lying on the lounge chairs facing the sun with your eyes closed. Our pool was 30 seconds a way ... other pools are minutes away situated around the resort if you want to cool off in the water. In the room it takes getting used to a window wall looking into the bathroom and shower area. We had a frosted glass toilette door, but I heard some had no door or clear gas ... not a great feature of the room. We found our room clean, maid cleaned the room daily. Probably helps that we gave her a $5US tip every day. But resort not very accomadating with late check outs. Our return Air Canada vacation flight to Toronto was at 7pm. But we had to vacate the room at noon. So we stayed at the beach and changed at the spa where you get a locker while you shower. Luggage is picked up at noon. So it is a minor inconvience. But the later flight gave us an extra day in the sun. So five days and four nights made for a great long weekend getaway (Thurs - Mon). Would we go back to the resort. Probably not because we couldn't swim in the ocean. It's a lot of money to be limited to the pool. But if the ocean is not your thing ... I think it is well worth a visit. We had an excellent, romantic long weekend with great service, more drinks than I can remember, great food and a lot of laughs. That is what a vacation is all about.

El Dorado Royale is one of the best Adults Only properties!
Our second stay at this property did not disappoint, we are still so impressed with the service, their attention to detail, the quality of the food & the overall comfort of this beautiful resort that we may even go back for a third. The staff is friendly, efficient, discreet & very hard working! This chain is doing lots of things right & their staff obviously take pride in their work because of it. Training, English lessons & exercise facilities are provided for the staff in a brand new building. Much of the produce served in the restaurants is grown in organic greenhouses on the property & it is delicious! The a la carte restaurants are a pleasure to dine in & for the most part there is no need for reservations nor are there line ups. There are bicycles available, a well equipped gym, spa facilities, Starbucks, beautiful meandering walking paths & stunning grounds.

hotel is beautifully maintained and has amazing staff - we never had a moody staff member! Food is exceptional! Recommend upgrading to a premium room to get exclusive use of a quieter pool. Meals a royal pain!
Though the hotel and food were very good, meals were poorly managed during a peak time when hotel was full. All meals were a la carte, no buffet option. We arrived and were told all the reservations were booked including New Years! The whole reason for our trip! We ended up waiting for a table at every meal. Up to 2 hours! When we complained, management gave us reservations for New Years but when we arrived we were turned away with the restaurant saying they don't take reservations. We ended up with the main hall making a table for us away from the festivities. What a dissapointment. Won't be back. No way.

Amazing honeymoon retreat
Beautiful resort, Loved every second of the beach, pools bars, and restaurants. Staff were so pleasant and willing to accommodate you in anyway they can. Food was phenomenal and exceeded our expectations. Our room was gorgeous although a/c was very hard to regulate and we were on the top floor so next time I think we'd prefer a ground floor room.Just a couple complaints, the first one while 24 hrs room service sounds great in theory we were very disappointed on the length of time it took to get it. It took 2 hrs for us to get a cheese plate and fruit platter. We also tried to order room service for lunch one day and I was on hold for 30 min and never go anyone to place our order. While most restaurants are always accessible it would have been nice to enjoy room service in our rooms. The second complaint I had was we were not informed by anyone at the hotel that our shuttle pickup and flight times had changed. We spent an hr waiting in the hotel lobby and asked a few people until finally we found out our flight was delayed their for so was our pick up time. It would have been nice to have known so we would have planned to not check out and enjoy more beach time. Neither of these things ruined our trip by any means and we would definitely come back to this hotel. A Paradise Oasis for us it was!

Best All Inclusive vacation yet!
This resort is huge and so beautiful !! But so spread out you feel very comfortable wherever you go. Lots of good food at many restaurants and plenty of bars spread out so you are never far from food and drink. The jacuzzi suite was very large with a balcony and big shower with lots of pressure and hot water. Beds were so comfortable with all amenities in room we needed. Workers all over cleaning, pruning and serving drinks on beach, very friendly.Shuttle golf carts all over to take you any where for free at quick intervals. Only downfall is the beach "view" due to all the large sand bags that look like whales and the triangle shaped concrete blocks in the ocean . They are there in order to rebuild the sandy beach and grow a coral reef which was destroyed a few years ago by a storm. The good thing is it creates a calm swimming and wading area closest to the beach since the blocks and sand bags are a break wall for big waves, the sand was perfect with straw umbrella stands for shade and lots of loungers. We enjoyed it very much, pictures of the beach are less pleasing. Food was excellent and staff were great. I would highly recommend this resort for newlyweds and middle aged couples. Not the greatest if you want a party atmosphere, more for relaxing and having a good time. We will return!

In other reviews it says the beach is an eye sore, it's not that bad, but it's really not swimable with the rocks and seaweed. The pool is nice! Great time at this resort!
This was out 3rd time to a Karisma hotel, specifically the El Dorado Adults Only Gourmet Inclusive. The food is top notch and the service is second to none. We were on the Casitas side but had access to the full resort. All parts of the resort have a personal concierge in their section who will take care of anything resort related for you such as booking a candlelight dinner on the beach or having a bath drawn and champagne brought to your room on your anniversary night (actually I think they actually do that one automatically). There are pool servers and beach butlers. On the Casitas side there are a few more perks and each section of 12 rooms has their own pool and bartender. The beaches have a lot of coral but we were able to find some great sandy sections to walk out and swim near their artificial reef they are building for the environment. And with the coral we had some great snorkling and saw some cool fish. One person we were with saw a stingray! I would totally recommend this resort and if you can afford the upgrade to Casitas you will not be disappointed. The resort is as advertised!

It just gets better and better!
You would think after 11 visits to El Dorado Royale...we would have enough and try some others,Well the truth is we have tried others and now say" forget the rest we have found the best"!! And as the title say it does get better every time we return. Each time we say well that was so good how could they improve it!!! but everytime we go back they have something new and improved. The staff at this resort are just so amazing and some of them have been hear since it opened in 2001. That says so much to us! and we love seeing them and caughting up with them each visit. All the restaurants at the resort are so good, people always ask us what is our fav...well I have to say we love Kampai, the pacific rim restaurant...they have the very best Pad Thai I have ever had ...don't miss it. The dinner theatre Fuentes restaurant is a great night out also and if you love wine ,do the wine pairing...its an extra charge but so worth it. Santa Fe is also a good choice with the Bellini Bar for a pre dinner drink. The management treated us to an outstanding 7 course dinner at the chiefs table at the Italian restaurant in the casitas.....It was out of this world ...prepaired for just my husband and I...what a treat ...who could ask for more!! The entertainment teams are some of the greatest you men you will meet ..Cesar, Daniel, Deago and Cristian will do all they can to ensure you have a great time. We like to say if you cant have fun here...well you just cant have fun! Oh don't miss the Martini bar in the lobby!!! Awesome top shelf drinks and the bartenders are a great bunch also. Give it a try im sure we will be going back to our fav place on the planet!

Fantastic spa resort
Excellent staff and the rooms were spotless. The food and drink were exceptional and our suite with private pool was a real treat. The gormet dinners in the evening were well done with the Italian restaurant one of our favourites. You could not beat the Sante Fe for breakfast. The pool bar staff and beach staff were freindly and attentive.

Simply Awesome
This hotel was excellent from arrival to departure. We stayed here from Juky 21st - 25th 2013 for our honeymoon Check in was easy and seamless The food was amazing. I recommend the smoothie bar at lunch for a nice light meal. Dinner - there are so many great options! The Italian restaurant had the best gnocchi I have ever had. While the dinner experience was unique and the food was great. The only down side was the ocean, where there are sand barriers about 50 yards out to break up the waves. I have been to about 10 all inclusives in the Caribbean and this one is the best. Highly recommend the ocean view rooms as well!
