This was our second time to this resort in as many years. The plusses: All staff and workers very friendly and helpful, without exception. The resort was clean and rooms well stocked. We are beach people and enjoyed the abundant sandy beach. It was groomed and cleaned daily. There was an abundant supply of lounges and palapas, both on the beach and around the pool. We had tried the a la carte dining on previous trip but stuck with the buffet restaurant this time around. The food was quite varied and plentiful. In the one week we were there we probably sampled only 25% of offerings. There were many families with toddlers the week we were there. Both outdoor and indoor and indoor play areas were available. Live music was provided evenings in the main building as well as outside the buffet restaurant. I would have liked the volume turned down a bit. But that's just me. The only drawback for us was with our tour provider who only flew into Punta Cana, making for a 1hr bus ride to the resort. We enjoyed our week in the sun. Will likely return.

A good old hotel — very clean, though the room decor could use an update. The beach is excellent — actually, it’s my favorite in La Romana, and I’ve stayed at all the beachfront hotels in the area. As for the food, it was better during our first visit in 2023. This time, it felt a bit repetitive and not quite as good. That said, we still had another lovely vacation and are already looking forward to coming back.

Stayed at Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus at end of Feb. We have only complements for the resort. First and foremost, all workers and staff were friendly and attentive to serving guests. Our room was super clean and mini bar kept stocked. The bathroom had been renovated and featured walk in shower booth. The grounds well kept and clean. The beach was the nicest for quite a stretch on either side of the resort. There were plenty of palapas on the beach as well as around the main pool throughout the day. The water at the beach was clear and fairly shallow for quite a way from shore. If you like water sports, take out a kayak or Hobie Cat. Take in water exercise class each day before noon. We ate most meals an the main buffet restaurant. Every night had a dinner theme ie Italian, Mexican, Dominican etc. Quality was excellent and plenty of variety. We stuck to light lunches at the Spiaggia seaside grill. Enough said. We have been to other Iberostar resorts in past and have always enjoyed our stay Hacienda Dominicus adds another check mark on our list.

Liked everything except aggressive street sellers. Beach is very good. Scuba diving operation is one of best. Safary trip was mostly going from store to store but it had its interesting moments. Perfect location-no storms through the two-week vacation.

The beach is amazing and beautiful. The entertainment team is also great. You will not get bored at night as there are shows and parties. There are also activities for kids. The hotel is green and clean.

This Iberostar resort was outstanding in every way during our Feb19-Mar4/20 vacation. The facility was terrific, very clean and well maintained, staff were all fantastic and very friendly and the food was plentiful, diverse and excellent. Well done Iberostar!!

It was clean, lots of entertainment for people of all ages. I went to celebrate my daughter's first birthday and oh they made it special. I have enjoyed a few of the all inclusive resort and this one was by far the best. The staff was amazing and super friendly. Food was good too. I felt safe and.enjoyed my time at iberostar!

We had a wonderful time at this resort. The food was really good and the grounds were spectacular and so well kept. Hope to return next year again. We loved some of the additions since our last visit and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We were sorry to leave.

Our recent stay at the Iberostar Hacienda in La Romana, D.R was just wonderful. We have chosen this resort for the last 10 years and have never been disappointed. The service, food and accomodation has always been excellent and I would recommend this resort to anybody. Theresa Verbeek

We really enjoyed our stay and Air Transat, they took care of us very well. Exceeded all of our expectations and more! Would strongly recommend the hotel, food and restaurants were superb! The week flew by, wished we could have stayed longer.

We are a family of 4 with 2 boys travelling for March break. Overall we were very satisfied with the resort and it's management. The ocean was warm, shallow and had no seaweed. Excellent for snorkelling and waddling. Everybody at the resort was very friendly and happy to help-we never met a grumpy person. Management was always on top of any minor issues that arose. Our concierge, Paula was the most helpful person and arranged a surprise birthday cake and bottle of rum/fruits for my husband's birthday. Availability of family suite (2 connected rooms and 2 bathrooms) is what made us choose this hotel and what contributed to a happy holiday, as our teenage kids had their own space. Resort did not seem very crowded despite being March break and we always found a place to sit in the shade even after 10 am. Everyday we did a different activity,we never got bored in 2 weeks, despite being a relatively small resort. Evening shows are the only thing that were really lack lustre at this resort, and you could not find a place to sit in the lobby at night to have a drink, so we just walked around instead or decided to retire early, which we have never done before on vacation. Food choices were plenty, but they seemed to lack spice or taste- but you could add your own to taste after, as a wide variety of sauces and spices was available to help yourself from. Overall very happy with Iberostar.

The gardens/grounds were in immaculate condition, thanks to the very hard working staff! The pools were monitored all day everyday for debris, etc. The beach was kept clean and supervised! The nightly, variety of entertainment was exceptional! The staff connected with the entertainment were willing to give dance lessons and were all very friendly!

The Hotel is older but immaculate, cleaners, pool boys, and gardeners every where, repairs that were needed were completed within hours . Huge selection in the main buffet, Japanese restaurant, was fun missed the Mexican, Steak house is the one on the beach used for lunch. The Colonial was superb the first week an absolute disaster the second week, The beach and sea were remarkable, highly recommended I can not remember the last time I have seen such a clean beach. The Light House for cocktails at Sunset , Swimming pools had pool cleaners in the pool every day I would recommend this Hotel for all age groups Just go and have fun .

Great landing amazing welcome at the Iberstar Dominicus Hadienda the room always inviting cozy and the service awesome the grounds with ponds, greenery amazing fruit trees and imported palm trees from Africa the birds dance of the peacock and Flamingos enchanting lite up path reminds me of the path in the wizard of Oz magical for all ages and for persons of all kind of different abilities the board walk to the ocean makes this sandy beach by the sea accessible for everyone. The food and restaurants 5 Stars and best of all the Staff are family amongst each other and with their guests! Very creative performances involving the children of guests I. Their stage performances! I was there for two weeks could have extended my stay for one month! I refer to this place as Paradise Island!

This is an amazing hotel with the most beautiful grounds of any hotel we have ever stayed at. The service was very professional and the staff was always friendly and helpful. We would definitely reccommend this hotel.

This holiday was a wonderful experience, from the greeting when we arrived at the resort to the room overlooking the garden grounds to the meals served. All employees were happy and looked after us. Completely happy!

Grounds: Look picturesque but... peacocks screaming their heads off in the middle of the resort starting around 3am. We had to suffer for 2 weeks; the management did nothing to our request for relocation to any room not overlooking the central area where the birds are roaming free. Other things were OK but having slept only a few hours per night we didn't really enjoy them much.

This was our first trip to the Dominican since 2003 and a lot has changed, mostly for the better. The Iberostar Hacienda is located about half an hour from La Romana near the villages of Bayahibe and Dominicus. This area had almost no resorts 11 years ago. The resort is beautiful with expansive gardens with lots of local birds and plants. The lobby area has a large assortment of great looking pieces of furniture, many of which appear to be antiques. The front desk is large and well organized with an adequate number of staff on duty. Change #1, the language skills of the Dominicans in the tourist industry have improved immensely with most speaking English, French and German adequately or better, yes, all 3 languages. The service is prompt, polite, enthusiastic and cheerful. Nobody should be able to suggest this hotel provides poor service, it is flawless. Paulie on the activities desk was a huge help, a mine of information, speaks better English than a lot of the natural English speakers with whom he deals. Likewise, Cesar on the front desk was great. We usually used the buffets, 1 for breakfast, 2 for lunch and 1 for supper. The selection of food is huge although a lot of it was strange and, to me, not that palatable. I did always find something I liked and always had more than enough to eat. We tried two of the a la carte restaurants, Japanese and Steak, and the food was very good and more than plentiful. The room was always clean with the little extras we have come to expect in these resorts. The water sometimes takes a while to get hot so run it before you want to get in. The pool area(s) are spotless, the swim up bar is good, clean and well staffed. Likewise the beach is close and the bar there is well staffed. One waiter on the beach stood out. I never got his name but he walks up and down with a tray full of drinks calling out for people to get them. Up and down, over and over. Hard working and funny guy. The prices of goods in the resort stores is quite high. For example, a bottle of good rum was $32 in the store and 2/$34 in a store we stopped at on a tour. Another fun person was the animation guy, Nicola. Good for a laugh or three. The negatives, as such: The beach is not as nice as Punta Cana. The water isn't as clear and the reason for that is the reef off Punta Cana where all the waves break leaving the bays nice and calm. Not that the beach here is bad but it has more of a slope, the sand is less fine and there are a few rocks in the water. I've marked down the value, not because it isn't a good resort but because it's the most expensive in the area and I'm not sure if there is enough extra to warrant the cost. But, if you can afford it, it won't disappoint.

Loved this place - very laid back atmosphere - sea is calm & tranquil on this side compare to the atlantic side - room was nice with ocean view. We enjoyed to food and nice hospitality. The snorkling was just off shore and we could see many colorful fish.
