The grounds were well groomed and beautiful. Food was fantastic and plentiful. Entertainment was amazing. Rooms were very clean and had a week stocked fridge. Pool was a fun time. All and all it was a fantastic time with friends.

My wife Joy, and I just returned from RIU Montego Bay on the 25th of February 2026 after a relaxing and top notch resort. This resort is only 10 minutes from Montego Bay airport and is in emasculate condition, considering Jamaica had recently been hit by a massive hurricane. The only way on the resort that indicated it had been hit by the hurricane was that the palm trees were missing some leaves everything was up and running at top speed. All of the restaurants and the buffet had excellent menus, great selections and excellent service at them all. We were able to eat at the Stake restaurant twice during our 7 day stay and the 10 once stake was the best meal possible. All of the bars served you quickly and orderly making sure you were looking after as quickly as possible. The entertainment staff did a magnificent job and kept things hopping including talking to us and expanding how they weathered the hurricane and keeping guests safe during it . A big shout out to Allison and Suzy from the entertainment gang that provided our fun times and also Kiara at front desk who kept us informed and was able to answer any questions we might have. Both Me and my wife are Rui members and were able to check into Rui resorts before arriving and because Joy has mobility issues we had requested certain buildings and floors before arriving. WOW. Whoever is in charge of the room placement nailed it on the head !!!!! We could not be more pleased with our room placement, Ground floor and very short walks to the pools, bar and Pepsi outside lunch restaurant!! Rui out did yourselves and made our stay the BEST ever. Also the packages of Blue Mountain coffee from both Tripcentral and the Front desk were much appreciated This has been one of the best Rui resort we have been to and we will definitely be back soon. The good. Resort is nice and clean. Service was great everywhere. Food was good The bad. Pools did not match pictures at all. They were small and most likely full of urine. Beach looks ok but water is mostly gross and ocean floor mushy.

The outdoor bathrooms you need more towards the bars in the pools it’s unfortunate for people stocking up on bagels and other breakfast stuff. I was there for five days and I couldn’t get a bagel that I would want it. and the service was great.

The bartenders were absolutely amazing especially Kemar, Gaverick, Phillicia, Antoinette and Saiqa. We enjoyed most of the shows that riu puts on in the evenings and other things they do during the day. The riu entertainment team was great at their jobs and made sure everyone was having a good time. Depending on the day the restaurants were good but we went to a couple around the end of our stay which happened to be my birthday and unfortunately the dinner was so salty I couldn't have more than two spoonfuls. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. Thank you riu

The hotel grounds and the staff are outstanding. The lifeguards could use a little polishing up on their people skills. Rules need to be liberally applied and publicly posted. The swim up bar needs to be cleaned more often, it gets grungy and unhealthy by noon.

I went to riu montego bay with 5 people to celebrate my birthday and i had a fantastic time! First let me say the food at pepes is 10/10 do not miss out. the food overall was really good and the entertainment was phenomenal. the entertainment staff really gave their 100%. I have been to many other resorts and rius and this was the best one. Food great. Drinks were really really strong. We had to ask the bartenders to put tiny shots because they were filling 80% of our cups with alcohol and then adding a splash of juice or pop.Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable. We had to call to ask for blankets as those weren't in our room but we got it right away.

We had a most wonderful 1 week stay at the Riu . This was our second time there as we enjoyed it so much. Certainly we will be back. The selection of daily foods at the Buffett was great, the Jerk chicken hut was even better. We also enjoyed a delicious meal at the Steak house. Our Room was well suited and clean, we requested a certain Room and was so glad to have been able to get it. MJ and Brandy were always so kind and the whole Resort Staff as well.

Despite being a very large resort, never a shortage of lounge chairs or dining spots. Great bar service and variety of beverages. Rooms are spacious. 5 pools so have choice of quiet or active. Downside, beach is very seaweedy & mushy bottom. Good entertainment, Riu Party is so much fun!

Beach is a bit on a hill and the water was not clear (lots of rain)so snorkelling sucked. Would not stay again manager at front desk unorganized lots of people standing around and it seems to take forever

We had 6 people in our travel party to celebrate two 60th birthdays. All of us had a fantastic stay with no complaints. The food including the buffet was top notch. Going into the water at the beach was a bit of a challenge as there were many large pot hole type drop offs every few feet when walking in the water. There are no golf carts to bring you around the resort so expect to get your steps in which actually pays off since the food and drinks is so good. The night entertainment was very entertaining with a large variety of talent. All the staff were very friendly and accomidating. We would definitely visit this resort again.

The beach was terrible. In the ocean the sand was mushy. Not nice. Check in was at 11 am, we new our room would not be ready until 3. we waited until 4:30 and no one contacted us. We went to the lobby and stood in line for 1 hour . They changed 3 out of the 4 rooms we had as they said they were not ready. No beer in our room every day. No coffee in the room everyday. No toilet paper. Hairdryer wasn't working , they came and fixed it but left the screws and garbage on the floor. At the buffet women can wear strapless dresses but men have to have sleeves. This is sexist. smoking isn't allowed any where unless its marijuana. You cant even smoke on your balcony at your room. No golf carts to take your luggage to your room. No consistency between the rooms. No lighting in the hallway. Ala cart Sophia we booked online for 5 people. When we arrived we got such a hassle said it was for only 2 people. We finally got in and had to wait for over 1 hour before our food showed up. Food in general is good. Wait staff are great. So happy that at the buffet all the foods are labeled for people with gluten allergies.

I would recommend this resort to people who like to party, be entertained and who mostly use the pool. Not a place if you are looking for peace and quiet or if you mostly use the sea as there is a lot of seaweed in the water. We wore water shoes every day as we only use the beach and sea. No complaints with our rooms or getting towels. Lots of choices for food and staff were mostly good at providing service whether or not they were tipped. Used the complimentary shuttle to go shopping nearby at the supermarket, pharmacy and stores. Enjoyed being in Jamaica and all it has to offer but would not return to this hotel because we prefer beach and a clear sea.

Pros: Clean and immaculate. Staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of variety with food, drinks, activities and amenities. Cons: I did not get my birthday package as promised. I did not get the room I was promised. I was never told airport transfer was included. Some of the bartenders were rude but the others were extremely polite.

This resort is absolutely beautiful. Very well kept. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Our ocean view room was amazing, high recommend getting that view. The food was great with lots of options for everyone. The entertainment staff was incredible with lots of energy, and great evening shows. The beach is beautiful with clams water. Drink are also very delicious with awesome bartenders. I will definitely be going back to Riu Montego Bay again.

The hotel offers spacious rooms, clean facilities, good pools & a good fitness center. We felt that some of the facilities closed too early. The pools would close by 6 pm which we felt was too early. The pool towels would run out by middle of the day and would not get replenished. Overall, a good property. The Neon party was great entertainment.

Everything was clean. Staff were amazing and very interactive. Remembered our names. Good food. Hotel room was spacious and had an amazing view of the ocean on the top floor. Entertainment was always great and always something to do whether it was dancing, swimming, playing games or late night festivities like neon party or white party. Adult resort. If you're looking to relax you can do this as well as there are different spots on the resort for however you would like to enjoy your stay. Will go again!!!

This Resort was just wonderful, the food, entertainment, room cleanliness and the staff overall. We stayed in Bldg. #1 on 2nd floor and enjoyed our view as well. We will certainly come back. The grounds and pools are well maintained , public washrooms kept clean throughout the day.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I were very disappointed with the RIU Montego Bay resort. The food was not at all what we had expected most always it was cold and was not properly heated and when it sits there for a while it was not very desirable. The food did not have any flavor very bland and not appealing. We tried all the different restaurants and it was pretty much the same. In fact we ate off the hotel as much as we could. One of the only experience that was good was the flight to and from Jamaica. Sunwing. The customer experience service by Sunwing Tours in Jamaica was less than desirable. When you have some time I can tell you more about our experience. We ended up using someone other than Sunwing Tours because the lack of our customer experience.

Hotel and grounds are kept beautiful. It didn’t matter what time you got to the beach or pool, there were always enough chairs for everyone. The food was very plentiful and always a good variety at the buffet. We tried all the al a carts, and they were all very good with great service. The entertainment group were present all day long mingling with guests and were fun to be around. The evening shows were excellent including the Michael Jackson show where the choreography was second to none. Riu has a very nice set up including the water slide.

This resort surpassed our expectations Located short drive from airport so you do hear planes during the day but it didn't bother me Food -huge variety, I'm a picky eater and left full every night. There is somewhere to eat 24-7. Italian and Steakhouse were great a la carte restaurants Lots of chairs on the beach and by the pool available all day, no need to get up early to claim your seat. Love the overhead shade available around each pool. Resort and rooms were cleaned beautifully, air conditioning fabulous. Alcohol and bar fridge in room stocked with drinks daily was a bonus Water park onsite was a fun addition Only critique is evening entertainment not great but we were too tired most nights to mind

We thought this resort was extremily clean, well taken care of. The house keeping staff as well as all of the dinning staff were extremely friendly and very appreciative of the gratuities, but most of the bar staff were not that friendly and actually expected a .gratuity. We did not know this in advance but it you stay at the Riu Montego Bay you are not allowed to visit the Riu Ragae or the Riu Palace but both of those have free access to the Riu Montego Bay, You will not have to worry about getting a glow as your drinks are all ice. there is a bar in your room with four bottles Johnny Walkers red, Rum, Smirnoff Vodka, and Gordons Gin. none of the bottles were full when we arrived, the Johnny Walkers red was a quarter full after having a few drinks from it and into our second week we requested they replace it, their response was sorry we don't have any more. The rooms were very clean and nice but the mattress and the pillows were very uncomfortable. We thought the food in all of the restaurants was very good ! The Sunwing Rep was very difficult to find, they claim they are there all day long, but on two occasions there were four to eight of us waiting for over 40 mins. at there station and they never did show up, when we confronted them and explained that we could not find them to book a tour so took a taxi instead they told us that was impossible as they are there all the time ( so I assume that all 8 of us waiting for them must be wrong ) also we were told to see the sunwing rep a day prior to check out again there were six of us waiting for them and the sunwing reps were no where to be found. We asked the other two travel reps, if they new where they were and there response was they had not idea but seldom seen them. When we finally did find the sunwing rep they were extremely rude with all of us. We asked others on the trip home if they experienced any issues with the sunwing staff and their storries were far worse than ours. Very unorganized on the trip home as there were three planes one to Toronto, one to Ottawa and one to Montreal all leaving within five minutes of each other so it took us two and a half hours standing in line with no Air Conditioning waitng to check through Four swimming pools and a lot of people sitting around them, but three of the pools were empty as the water was very cold, the bar pool was full and I am sure it was warm as most of the people in there were drinking all day and I didn't see anyone get out to use the washrooms ! needless to say I did not go in that pool either. LOL To sum it up once again most of the staff were amazing and very pleasant, food was quite good, resort was well maintained and clean. Most of the aggravation was with the Sunwing Staff .

3rd time there food was good entertainment was great all day and night. Great customer service from the front desk to the server's at the buffet Rhianna and Samantha thank you very much and to the cleaners. The pools were awesome 5 to choose from the beach is great the water not so much lots of seaweed my only complaint is the vendors trying to sell you illegal stuff all the time it makes you not want to go to the beach. Other than that great time.

Hotel was large had all emmebties required. Food was good nobody got sick. Stafg where friendly at most. Sinwing reps all horrible at resort. Flight delayed almost 3 hours an d still took us to airport at scheduled time only to sit at airport for 5 hours. Good pools.5 in total. Beach good .ocean not very good. Muddly sand with algae. Nightly shows good.ecept 2 adjacent rui resorts party at night at our rui montego. Would rate a 4 out 5.

was there in October and back again in January, that's how much we loved the place. the rooms were large and very clean. the pools were great, the bars and restaurants had great selections of food. and drink. beach was good, plenty of room. finally the staff were fantastic. special mention to Chevelle and Patricia in the main dining room in the morning. both were great and had our table for us every morning ready with coffee and mimosas. Both recognized us from our October trip, which was really nice. could not find one fault with the resort, and also only 10 mins from airport. Cant wait to return.

Definitely go back to this resort friendly staff, great food, clean rooms Having five pools was amazing. You had your choice of quiet or busy great fun and entertainment every day. Check in and check out was a breeze!

Very good value for the pricepoint. All three resorts: Riu Montego Bay (RMB), Riu Reggae (RR), and Riu Jamaica Palace (RJP) share evening activities at RMB. RMB was definitely the more ‘fun’ resort with a younger crowd. RR and RJP seemed to have more premium liquor and food options, but RMB definitely has more variety. Also RR and RJP can come to RMB and enjoy all amenities - but not vice versa. Beautiful beaches at all three locations, unfortunately there was quite a bit of seaweed when we were there. Staff was all excellent. Would definitely recommend RMB.

We count our blessings, thank you to the wonderful staff who have made our vacation at Riu Montego Bay Resort a memorable one. The sun salutation was a nice touch. As for the food, Kulinarium is highly recommended. Took at cab (see desk at hotel entrance) to Rockland Bird Sanctuary; Dwayne Finnikin was our tour operator. Thank you Dwayne for making our trip a safe one.

the resort is fantastic. it is spotless and the rooms are spotless and modern. the bars and restaurants were excellent, the food was good, with the exception of the Steak House which was terrible. we walked out halfway through our meal it was that bad. the staff were fantastic and friendly. and only to happy to help with anything. the swim up bar pool was always busy and load as to be expected. but had to be evacuated 3 times during our stay due to someone throwing up in two occasions and once someone had diarrhea in the pool. pick one of the other 3 pools to be safe,

1) Lovely time thanks to the staff there who treated us with great hospitality - reception staff, servers in dining areas, bartenders, lifeguards and house cleaning staff. 2) Can't say enough about the Entertainment staff who were FABULOUS in entertaining us day and night. Thoroughly enjoyed their shows. 3) Food was great and lots of variety. 4) Our family suite was great, except that the room has a king-size bed which was 2 double beds pushed together as a king-size bed. 5) NEW - Adults Only Resort - nice change. 6) NEW - more swimming pools (instead of only 2 as in the past) which is great plus a splash water area with slides which was fun. 7) NEW - renovations to lobby area. We didn't find it as appealing as the lobby area before. Before there was a large table on which was placed a large floral arrangement which really enhanced the lobby area. Also with the renovation, there are some area rugs under the coffee tables in the seating area which look very bland, inexpensive (even if that is not the case) and not attractive. Hopefully this will be looked at as we gather other guests had the same assessment.

We just returned from one week at the riu Montego Bay. It was a blast !!! The entertainment was amazing. The staff were all super friendly and accommodating. The food at this resort was unbelievable. However… If you’re someone looking for a nice beach, this isn’t the place. There’s seagrass everywhere, you can’t go in any further than your knees before you Hit the seagrass. We had to leave the resort for the day and pay to go to DR’s cave beach so we can swim for one day. Also when we checked in we were talked into upgrading to an ocean front room because it was my 40th birthday. What a waste of money. Our first room didn’t even have a view of the ocean And took us three days to switch rooms with a view of the ocean. Save your $ .. do a garden view !! Overall we had a great time.

Where do I begin, from the pleasant staff to the amazing entertainment every day was great. I had the most amazing wait staff Horace at breakfast, so friendly and knew exactly what I drink in the morning. Wonderful and pleasant night waitress Abbigale. Hotel was always clean and food very tasty. Can’t see myself visiting any other hotel in Jamaica. Thanks to u all. ❤️

Everything was beautiful and very well done, from the grounds, to the accommodations to the food and the events. The only issue would be that the restrooms were located too far from the pools and many did not leave the swim up bar pool.

We were a group of 17 and we had a wonderful time. There was always lots to keep us busy. Thr food was amazing and the drinks were always delicious. The entertainment staff went above and beyond every day.

The hotel was clean and the grounds were beautiful. The beach was very small and a lot of sea grass and mud. The food was very good .The airport was a complete nightmare coming into Montego Bay and leaving also .

The hotel was spotlessly clean. Rooms were kept stocked for towels daily. If you want washcloths ask for them. They typically do not supply. The entertainment is some of the best I’ve ever seen. There was an endless amount of food and it was all very good. Drinks were plentiful. The beach is small but clean. If you like long walks on the beach you won’t typically find it in Montego Bay.

Very disappointed. Staff were unfriendly. Food was terrible. Same thing eery day lunch and dinner. All fried food. Over spiced. No real selections. 3 days of no rolls or fresh bread. Very little to choose from salad bar fruits and deserts. Entertainment poor. Nothing to do there. Beach was poor

Worst experience! Customer service at the resort is really bad. No one smiles or greets. We landed at 11:30am, but they gave the room at 3:00 exactly. Food was decent. Pools are all so small especially the party pool and couldn’t go into the pool. Washroom toilet was not flushing. Main issue was the lack of customer service.

The restaurants are hit and miss not consistent quality , The entertainment was brutal and while your watching the show there is nothing else going on no beach party or other things to do. So your choice is watch the lousy show or go to bed , the booze was sub standard and watered down no premium booze all week i never had the same drink twice trying to find a decent drink also not consistent RUI OWNES THREE PROPERTIES IN A ROW i wanted to go see what the other hotels were all about incase i liked them better and wanted to stay there next time around, we kept getting thrown out the other two hotels can come and go as the please to our hotel but it is forbidden for us to even walk through they even cut the beaches off for no access all 100% true

The entertainment/entertainers were awesome. This is definitely a busy, activity filled, louder, party hotel. The rooms are great, they’ve been updated- the pictures do not make them justice. The food is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had but in terms of resort food, it is good. The service is incredible. Some of the best I’ve had. Several pool options, I would’ve given pools alone a 5 star. Waterpark is amazing. The beach is underwhelming. It’s quite small and the view is obstructed by the Sandals resort and rocks. The hotel is less than 15 min from the airport. COVID restrictions in effect. Clean, safe, fun! I will be going back.

Posting a review about the RIU Montego Bay resort for me seems to swing to both sides of the table. To explain the review I will review each part seperately. Arrival and check in: After a small hiccup of being directed to the wrong counter by a hotel check in staff member, the experience went well. Friendly, informative and quick. Waited almost three hours for the bellman to bring mybags to the room, and eventually got them ourselves, as I wanted to change and head to the beach or pool. Room: The room was ok. Small but clean. They seem to ha e a shortage of towels a d floor mats as I only had the full compliment on arrival. Each subsequent, after the room was serviced I had to ask for the towels which had either been forgotten or were not available. The bathroom floor mat/towel for exiting the shower was only avail on the first day. Was never available after that. The "fully" stocked mini bar was one bottle of dark rum, and one bottle of vodka(Not a recognized brand), Coca-Cola, sprite and water. Small easy to use safe I the room to keep valuables. Room.was generally good... towel issue not a major thing at all. Food / dining: The attempt at fine dining at the Asian and Italian, and Steakhouse needs work. The food quality at the buffet was actually better. Made three attempts to eat the steak in different restaurants at the resort. The advertised rib eye is not actually rib eye, but some not very well cooked mystery part of the cow. The breakfast options were good. Mix or local and American style food. The staff at dining rooms were great. Very friendly very help full. The jerk at the buffet was slightly better tasting than the jerk on the beach setup. Pool: The pool areas are all great. The pools are clean and tested multiple times daily. Lots of space at the 5 pools. Beach: Doing this separately from the pool as it was my only area of dissapointment. I did not know this before, but the hotel is built on reclaimed swampland and the beach photos are a bit misleading. The first 4ft or so when entering the water is white sand and clear water, but after that, the floor is all silly mud, dark grey in color which your feet will sink into about 2-3 inches when you stand. Not a great feeling at all. Going swimming was the reason I went on this trip but only did that at the beach on the first day. Only swam in the pool after that. Or stuck to the first 4 feet of entry to the water which was only 2ft deep. I'm probably not he only one who noticed this, because of the hundreds of people on the beach, I only ever saw about 10 people in the water. Bar: The bar has a set menu which does not co soft of any premium alcohol, but the pina coladas were amazing with the dark rum. I asked if the had Prosecco once and was told yes.. then watched him mix regular white wine with club soda. Hotel: Recently renovated, the decor is much better than that of what I had a glimpse of the RIU Reggae. Covid 19: Masks required for any service including the bar etc. Sanitizer is everywhere. Return...? Hard to say... I was content at the pool but being an islander myself, a d wanting the beach for swimming, I probably would not go back, although everything g else was ok... everything is not perfect, but does not really.need to be. Difficult to say I won't return due to the muddy beach when the staff was so great. If the beach swimming is not important to you, then I highly recommend this resort.

Beautiful hotel, especially the stunning lobby, large pool, and sparkling clean rooms. Food was hot and varied, and there were plenty of lounge chairs both around the pool and on the beach. We found the staff friendly and chatty (esp. Lady Chocolate), and they really added to our experience. The only 'cons' from my perspective was the frequent passing of airliners overhead, as the resort is very close to Montego Bay airport. And the beach frontage is not huge, because guests are not allowed to pass onto the Sandals beach next door, nor the other Riu property on the other side. Having said that, there was lots of shade, and the 12-3 daily barbecued jerk chicken on the beach was yummy.

The spaces in this hotel were large and inviting - with lots of areas to choose from at different times of the day, and for different activities. The lobby was an airy space for lounging and talking, or chatting over a drink from the lobby bar. There was a beautiful covered portico for breakfast (as well as air conditioned eating areas). The best was the people at the resort - all were friendly and helpful - from the waiters who explained the Jamaican fruits to the entertaining staff who made sure everyone was having a wonderful time. There was plenty of shady and sunny loungers around the pool and on the beach to make that relaxing holiday come true - and the Jerk Chicken on the beach was a lunchtime favorite. The wetbars were very well stocked, and all amenities were excellent.

Excellent food and staff! Everyone went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy and they succeeded. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly and early every day. Drinks were generous with liquor. Buffet had a large variety daily and the restaurants were also nice. The entertainment crew were amazing with guests and evening shows. Will definitely go again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The buffet was good, Italian restaurant (beef) was excellent, the steak house was also excellent. Entertainment was as expected. Areas were well maintained and clean at all times. Assistance was provided to us when we wanted to leave the resort and we were well taken care of. The only negatives were the house wine selections were only good in the Italian restaurant, and a coffee machine in the room would be nice. If we go back to Montego Bay we would stay there again.

The wife and I had an amazing stay here, very nice rooms with mini bar restocked as you like, pool is huge and greatly designed, great entertainment, awesome beach.. definitely on everyone’s bucket list... thank you

Grounds well kept, good choice at the buffet restaurant but frustrating trying to get dinner at Japanese and or Italian. The fact that the later are closed 2 days during the week leaves very little time to enjoy. Rooms are clean and spacious. Lots of lounge chairs. Montego bay is not recommended if you are going for the beaches. They are man made and dirty brownish color. Remember the airport is 15 minutes away...... so the noise can be annoying sometimes.

This hotel is very close to the airport. (5 mins away) planes pass by taking off roughly every 10 mins depending on the day. The people in the resort make the resort. The grounds are nice, the rooms are decent, never used the spa or gym so not sure how it is there. Everyone is just so polite and making sure your having a great time. The food was ok if I had to compare it to the other hotels that I've stayed. It wasn't full on Jamaican food. There was barely any beef patties. I used to see them in another resort everyday during lunch by the pool. (My cousin was looking forward to eating them). Jerk chicken by the pool was not bad. Jamaica is known for their fruit. Papaya I saw which I was happy. Didn't see any mangos, & coconut. They had pineapple but it didn't taste ripe, they were still hard. They had other Tropical fruit but not my cup of tea. The beach is small, thank god the pool is pretty big, & everyone went or there would be difficult to find a spot. Pool is very spacious & lots of chair for everyone. I was disappointed that we (riu Montego bay) weren't allowed to go across to Riu palace or Riu reggae but both those resorts were allowed to come to us. Not sure if I missed anything else. I would go back to Montego Bay but probably not to this resort. (This resort will be adults only after April)

The servers and entertainers were very sweet and entertaining. But the food and amenities were ok. The shows were very good, the bartenders were awesome, the waiters were amazing, the food was ok. Our room was musty. We had to fight for three beds even though we were paying for three adults. The cleaners were good. But room was musty. And decor was out of date and food had a lot of msg. We had trouble with Sunwing: I pre booked extra legroom seats after paying extra for the privilege and paying extra for the seats when I booked them, only to find out that Sunwing switched our flight home to a tiny Swiss plane and bumped us back to crappy seats but kept our money! I'm currently fighting with Sunwing for a refund.

We went to this resort as a party of 12 for a vow renewal. We were upgraded to a suite because of our renewal and our room was beautiful. 2 of the rooms in our group had a musty smell (building #1). Our group didn't complain though as they were not in the room a lot of the time. Food was amazing in all of the restaurants, our favorite was the Italian. Entertainment staff were great at getting people involved as well as coming by each morning and saying "good morning" to everyone. I was amazed that they could remember everyones name since they must meet a lot of people all the time. Shout out to Chocolate, Abigail, and Purple from the entertainment staff and a very special thank you to Darrin in the buffet for breakfast and Shakira in the Italian restaurant. (She amazinginly remembered all 12 peoples orders - drinks included - from our meal 3 nights before) absolutely blew us away My only complaint was that they need more washrooms. There are only 2. One at the lunch buffet, and one in the lobby. Makes for either wet bathing suits tracking up to the lobby during the day or (I'm sure) people just going in the pool. Perhaps when they renovate they can add a washroom by the pool and one on the beach??

Love love love the RIU resorts. The RIU Montego Bay is an older resort but apart from the rooms, you wouldn’t really know. The furniture is the give a way as it’s old style but the rooms are Kept very clean. Bathtubs are dangerous with no rubber mats, especially for seniors. Walk in showers hopefully will be in all rooms when this resort is renovated next year. Only one elevator worked in our building and that was questionable as to how long LOL it creaked, groaned and thumped each time. The grounds are lovely, smaller resort so not a whole lot of walking. Beach is lovely, however it is not a long one to walk. All staff are very friendly and eager to please. Especially in the restaurants and bars. Entertainment crew are fantastic. We had so much fun. As repeat guests at other locations we always got a bottle of nice wine or champagne, fruit plate sent to our room, this location did not acknowledge this. Was surprised that you couldn’t get mimosas at breakfast, infact the only time we saw champagne was at our daughters vow renewal celebration. Out of the three “a la carte” restaurants there was only one that was, and at that it was only the main meal that was served to you. All in all really had a great time, we travelled the week of August 25-September 1,2019. Family of 12.

Personally I think that this resort is beautiful . Not just for couples but amazing for families as well. The staffs ,security and our sunwing rep was amazing. For example I had forgotten one piece of my luggage on the bus that took us from the airport to the hotel and realized it was missing only after the driver drove off. I mentioned it to the bell man and also to the front desk. They told me that they don't have a direct number for the driver however they assured me that they would pass the info to my rep, who did actually worked hard on my case. after 2-3 days of calling,texting and emailing the company finally my bag was found. I was so happy and greatful. Excellent customer service!! Rooms were very clean and up to date. Beds were comfortable and firm .The air conditioner was very good as well. The buffet was always great, lots of varieties to choose from. Meals was delicious and hot. Dessert was also delicious and tasty. The pool was clean and beautiful. Filled with couples and families having a great time. Amazing and friendly staff, will definitely recommend this resort. Can't wait to visit against. :)

The Hotel Roy was amazing. The entertainment team make it a priority to make sure people are not only relaxed but are having a good time. The pool and beach are beautiful and they had a lot of options for excursions. The food was also amazing.

I was able to visit the Riu in Montego Jamaica along with my family in May 2019. We arrived mid afternoon with a welcoming smile from sunswing staff and she was able to guide us to the front desk to check in right away. Then a kind gentleman took our languages and walked us to our rooms, on our walk he asked us our name, where we from, is it our first here and so on. He didn’t have to do that but he did and with a honest and sincere happy attitude. Until u experience such service u wouldn’t understand what I am talking about. I travel often and see people doing there jobs just because they have to but you can see that they don’t want to be there. Everyone of the staff from house keeping, dining, bartenders, landscaping, towel attendee, lifeguards and especially the entertaining crew were AMAZING. I would call a few names but I don’t want to leave anyone out. They were friendly, kind, approachable, helpful, supportive, open to communicate and interacts with all there guest of all ages. Another thing that I loved about the staff is that they never made you feel that you needed to tip them and when you did they appreciated it. I didn’t give each time but I got them same kind smile which never changed. The food was good but the environment brought me and my family such joy and I would recommend anyone to experience it. I hope whom ever is reading this will share my review with the staff and express to the how great of a job they are doing. I will continue to brag about my trip to everyone I know n don’t know. THANK YOU..........

RIU Mobay was amazing for a first timer; staff were friendly and very helpful...’Excursions were the best part of the trip but the overall experience was great also; if one is friendly you can easily meet nice, genuine people through the hotels entertainment. Food was good, service was good but some of the bartenders can be trained more on making the drinks appropriately

We had a wonderful experience. We were moved from our initial room because we felt that what we paid for did not come up to expectations (ocean view) but were moved to a different room and were pleased with the new room. We were quite happy to stay there for the duration but a hot water supply pipe broke behind the wall and gushed hot water into the tub. I could not shut the supply off and called the reception stating our problem. Someone arrived soon and shut the hot water off to our room. We were then upgraded tp an oceanview room and it was wonderful. The food was great as we have been accustomed to as we always stay at a RIU hotel. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. Entertainment staff worked very hard. Hats off to them. All in all we had a great time and would recommend this hotel in a minute. Great Job. Regards- Steve

RIU Hotel Montego Bay was an amazing resort! Everything was close; the buffets, the pool, the beach and the bar and entertainment was all so close each other. The grounds were well kept and clean and had an intimate feel! Great resort for families! The kids club was fabulous! A wide variety of fun activities for the children. All staff were friendly and happy and had great customer service! Food was phenomenal! Entertainment (the shows) were very professional and all of the performers were very talented! Pools were clean and big with basketball and volleyball nets. Beach was clean and water activities were available (paddle boats, kayaks etc.) Resort is close to the airport and a quick drive to town to shop! I would highly recommend RIU Hotel Montego Bay & can’t wait to go back!!

We were a group of 17 (9 adults and 8 kids aged 4-10). The Riu was a great choice for our group, and set us up near each other, which we had requested before travelling. The hotel had a perfect combination of fun activities and for the kids and adults alike. A short walk from the buffet to the pool to the beach made getting around the resort very convenient. The workers were always quick with a smile and the service and food were both excellent. We had no complaints and would definitely go back if we were to get the same price on March Break in the future.

I had a phenomenal time at the Riu Montego Bay. ALL the staff are so entertaining, kind and helpful. For someone that went alone, I felt safe, comfortable and was completely satisfied with my entire stay.

This resort is excellent value for your money. The resort is clean and well maintained. The pool area is large and plenty of lounge chairs are available. The beach is small but not over crowded. Our room had an amazing view overlooking the beach. The room itself was small but functional. The food was above average. The buffet had a large and varied selection for both breakfast and dinner. The al a carte restaurants also had excellent meals and service, except for the Steakhouse. The meal was terrible. All in all I would recommend this resort, very highly.

We enjoyed everything about the resort. Food was great with lots of variety; lots of daily activities and nightly entertainment. Staff was friendly and service fantastic. Would definitely recommend Riu Montego Bay. This was our 2nd visit to this resort. Had a fabulous time.

Grounds were wonderfully kept by hard working staff. Super friendly.. and clean.. food was great.. lots of variety. Spent most of our time with chop chop at the Jamaican jerk shack. Rum is great. Beds are horrible... But rest of stay made up for it..

First Impression: Efficient, clean, very children oriented. family oriented. First Food Experience: Overwhelmingly impressive, service so friendly and professional. Entertainment from day to night, had something for all ages and tastes! well done all! First Look around the grounds: night time, so limited to landscaped lighting, but at dawn, I went for a walk along the beach, and saw clean up crews already at work preparing for the busy rush of guests to come down and enjoy the space. The pool and the pool side amenities were so much more than I could imagine from the pictures and videos from the booking info. As we stayed on in the week, a few glitches with our room (1001) were discovered and handled both with maintenance, security, and cleaning staff to the best of their abilities, with an aged building, and high humid weather conditions against us. finally, for health reason I was forced to move to another room, that was clearly an up graded room, with more air circulation, as it was on the second floor 0114. Thank you to all staff and management, for allowing our family such a glorious experience, and to make sweet memories. Will be recommending whole heartingly to all family and friends!

Overall hard working people who keep the grounds clean. The food was Good. The house keeping was Great, they went beyond my expectations! The excursions were fantastic, we have never seen the ocean with that color blue! Overall it was a great experience, I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

The hotel was great. Everything was close by so you didn't have to walk far. The buffet was great. Lots of options. The dining staff were great especially Superman and the entertainment staff were very talented and great with kids. Styles was fantastic with my kids. The front desk was also very friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful trip.

The resort was well maintained and very clean. Most likely due to the detail oriented staff which were always there to take care of the small details. The entertainment staff was very friendly and always available to answer any questions or concerns.

Beautiful resort, very clean. Great food. Amazing staff!!!!! Great pool lots of loungers. Only negative about the resort is the beach. Its small and water is not clear. Murky at times and bottom is quite slimy. I believe this is because the beach is man-made. So if you are a beach person then this resort is not for you

This is a great family resort. It has been 8 years since our last visit and there are some expected signs of wear (dated rooms, tipsy/worn chairs at lunch/steak restaurant). The good far outweigh the dated. In comparison to other resorts and countries I've been to, Riu Montego Bay has the best staff, most beautiful pool area, great entertainment and variety, and by far the best food. Since our last trip they have stopped doing drink service around the pool but the pool bar service is quick. We didn't have to wait long to be served at any of the resort bars.

The hotel location and facilities were as good as any we have been to - the entertainment and the skill of the entertainers was unreal. Their dancing and good nature was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the trips organized off the resort that were well run and the chance to see the culture and the amazing beauty of Jamaica. We would love to return to there at some point for another vacation. The location was a bonus with little travel to the airport etc.

The grounds were beautiful and laid out nicely. Staff was all extremely friendly. Food was excellent, especially the jerk chicken hut on the beach that served every day. Many activities during the day and night made the experience never have a dull moment.

Recently came back from staying at this location for a week, for the money paid I think some attention in updating the rooms are required, original room was dark and musty smelling, upgraded (for a fee) to ocean view, very large balcony but only two plastic chairs, would have loved lounger chairs or even a hammock would have made a huge difference. Pool was very large and clean, food in the specialty restaurants were average, great selection in the buffet, employees were fabulous. Good hotel location if your looking to venture out to visit the shops outside the resort.

Took the family on vacation to the RIU Montego Bay. There were four of us, my hubby and I, and our 2 daughters. We arrived on Friday evening and check in was super quick and easy. we were given 2 rooms side by side, in building 4. Initially we thought "Wow, what a long walk, but it wasnt'.. not at all." and the walk is what you need after a big meal at the buffet or restaurants. Rooms were clean..dated, but the only thing that really matters is that it is clean and it was. My girls had great beds, but my hubby and I didn't.. they were older, and not really comfortable. Spoke to front desk, and they offered to move us, and showed us a number of different room options but in the end, we just stayed where we were, and they "padded" our beds.. which was fine, and definitely made it more comfortable. But they were certainly willing to accommodate us. Food was good. Chop Chop serving up the Jerk chicken on the beach was SOOO GOOD! Steak house was good, Italian and Asian okay. Buffet was good, but with most all inclusives, it is often the sames choices nightly, that can get boring. The grounds are beautiful.. beach is small, but I think big enough for everyone to enjoy. Water is calm, so nice for families with smaller children. The pools are gorgeous, with lots of awesome seating in the pool bar area. This resort is close to the airport, bonus when you are travelling to and from, but when you are relaxing by the pool, the planes are loud, like really loud. Not much you can do about it, but it can be distracting. Smoking is only allowed in certain areas, so not sure if you are a smoker if this is for you.. (I am not, so I was quite fine with it!) There were a couple days where chairs around the pool were difficult to come by.. but it always worked out, even if you had to drag them from another spot. The staff are awesome.. all of them, the grounds staff, wait staff, bartenders, front desk, everyone is welcoming and kind and helpful. And the entertainment team.. they work hard, and do a good job. Nothing to do with the resort, but we had spectacular weather.. EVERY DAY! That is a definite first for me on a vacation.. that was delightful! All in all, I can't say I was over the top about it, but I can't say I was disappointed either. Many people we met at this resort were return visitors, and that tells me that they must be pretty consistent in how they do things there.

My daughter and I were very pleased with this resort. Top 3 priorities for us (1) cleanliness (2) respectful staff (3) good nightly entertainment. All were excellent. The resort is small but we enjoyed it much more than we have some other larger resorts we have stayed at. Small on size but big on customer service and entertainment. Buffet was good, as good as buffets can be. What we enjoyed about the buffet was they actually changed the menu up each night. Some staples stayed the same but sections were changed to offer variety. Staff were so pleasant and not pushy or touchy at all. Grounds and room were spotless. Room cleanliness is very important to me. Nice added feature was how the entrance to rooms were laid out. Each room entrance had a hallway with their own corridor with a second door. This really created for a quiet room. Very old Zenith tube TV in room but we didn't care. Watched Olympics late at night so it served its purpose. Overall very nice resort. Would go back.

We just returned from this resort,had a great time,very clean lots to do staff friendly,food good ,sunshine what more can you ask for,the beach is kept clean lots of lounges for relaxing around the pool and on the beach

Clean hotel, great food and best entertainment staff of any resort. Only issue is the amount of people offering weed, hash and cocaine, it’s everywhere and many locals and cab drivers offering it. They don’t understand no.

This is our 8th visit to Jamaica. We have stayed in 3 different all inclusive hotels in Montego Bay and many small hotels throughout. This was our first stay at Riu MoBay (January) and really found the resort to be very nice, the rooms are very clean and fairly well maintained. They need to change their A/C filters because it does create a musty smell. Although once we opened the patio doors it was gone. The food at the buffet was great found lots of fish and shrimp and great deserts. We loved the Steak House!! The bars have awesome service with plenty of staff. The entertainment is good too. The young staff members do a great job of keeping everyone happy during the day and at night performed beautifully. Sunshine was my favourite. The beach is nice and warm and a fair size. Plenty of beautiful trees for shade and we didn’t have a hard time finding loungers. Unfortunately this hotel is about a kilometre from the airport so planes are a real nuisance and fly directly over the beach. It would be nice it they had service on the beach for drinks since you have to walk a distance to the pool bar. A few locals on small boats provide Ganja and this was very convenient and helpful to many guests. The beach party was fun too! The pool is huge and beautiful. I didn’t get in but it looked warm and lots of chairs and shade. Don’t miss the weekly Pool Party because it was hilarious and lots of fun!

Having stayed a a few RIUs it wasn't hard to book a RIU again. The resort was lovely and the people friendly. Very clean surroundings and the food okay. I was surprised there was no room service for early morning coffee in our room but was even more surprised when I wasn't allowed to take a pot of coffee to our room. I get up early so enjoying a coffee on the balcony is a real treat. So to be able to do that US$26.00 later I bought 2 travel mugs and walked to get 2 coffees to take back to the room each morning. And what happened to supplying little lotions? As small as those things are, I look forward to those little things on my vacation. According to staff these are part of cost cutting measures. It's too bad. I'm not saying that if I don't book my vacations at a RIU they will shut down but, I'm definitely going to try some place different next time.

Overall in good condition, but lack of room service and drink servers turned it into a self serve vacation. Poor weather meant a lot of time spent in lobby and restaurant/bar areas. Bartenders are friendly and quick to serve. Pool and beach had plenty of lounges so early “staking claim” to spots wasn’t necessary.

The hotel was excellent, the rooms and grounds are maintained in a pristine condition. There were some very noisy guests in the next suite and the security team handled that immediately as there are noise restrictions. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. They were interested and excited about our wedding even though it was not at the resort. I found the food to have an superb variety. My partner is a master chef and a bit of a perfectionist so he was a little more discerning about the local food. all in all it was very enjoyable. The weather did not co-operate as it rained almost everyday.

I happily recommend this property. The staff were FANTASTIC. The food was GREAT! The Grounds were kept in amazing condition. The beach is well kept, but the swimming is a little off, in the water it is a little slimy on the bottom due to what appears to be a break wall that minimizes the natural flow of the ocean. Complex #1 was also musty/mouldy smelling. When told of this, the front desk immediately moved me to another room, which was perfect. All in all, I would go back to the RIU Montego bay, in a heart beat.

This hotel is such in a perfect area. The beach is a walk away, BBQ chicken on the beach every day. The staff is awesome and always friendly. We did the Bob Marley tour and I still can’t get enough of how good our tour guide was. The pool is always clean and I loved the fact that they had build in laying chairs. The food was really good as well and a fantastic selection. We took some tours into downtown Montego Bay and we had such a great experience. The beach is so beautiful and the water is so clear. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. I would go back in heart beat. I paid the extra for the ocean front view room and believe me it’s worth it!

My boyfriend & I were there from Oct 12 - Oct 19 and we had a blast! Don't let the negative reviews of people with high expectations fool you. If you've ever stayed at any Riu hotels, you'll know they have a standard to uphold and Riu Montego Bay did not disappoint! Room: we were in room 1118 and had two double beds pushed together to create a "king" bed. There were 4 bottles for liquor as their "mini bar" and a fridge that was replenished with water and pop every other day. The bathroom was clean. We had a huge balcony albeit we were facing the garden. But who goes on vacation and stays in the room anyways!?! Food: Beyond amazing. Let's just say they know how to use their spices. Mostly everything we ate was delicious and there were many different choices at the buffet for breakfast and dinner. We didn't bother going to the buffet for lunch cause there was jerk chicken with rice and peas served at the beach by Chop Chop! Make sure to check him out cause his jerk chicken and jerk sausage were really good! WiFi: Available at common areas like the lobby and the main stage area. If you're lucky, you can even get it near the beach. Surprisingly, the connection was good. Service: The servers were exceptional. They were constant when it came to empty glasses on tables and at the beach. If you're at the dinner buffet, look for Superman on the patio. His service was amazing and he's always giving you riddles while you dine! Bartenders are really friendly and have an attitude that makes you want to smile. Smoking: They have a policy of no smoking in public areas and if caught, you can be fined $300USD. Honestly, there are designated smoking areas which is nice so to not bothers those who don't smoke, but during the evening when there aren't much people around, you can smoke anywhere. We loved it there and would definitely go back in the future!!

I was impressed with a very friendly staff. The food was good. The jurk chicken hut was my favorite. The pool was nice and always kept clean. My problem was the beds were the most uncomfortable beds I've ever stayed on . The beach has 90% seaweed,very disappointed with the beach. And I noticed on the day I was leaving there was a cockroach in the bathroom. I've been to Jamaica 3 times at different resorts. Jamaica is still my favorite place to visit.But I won't return to The Riu Montego Bay.

The staff was friendly, the grounds were well kept and the food was decent. However, this resort has a lot of maintenance issues and needs to be refurbished. The pool was green around the edges and cloudy. Not really a kids area, so they play in the shallower lounge area of the pool, which tended to get quite noisy. The beach is obviouly manmade, so once you get out into the water more than ten feet the bottom feels mucky. Frequent jets flying overhead gets annoying. Usually enjoy Riu Hotels, however this one was not up to par.

I love the resort because it's the first time I went to a resort. I can't believe there were so many varieties of food and the dishes were very tasty. I really enjoyed the food. Unlimited alcohol beverages and I drank a lot as well. I really had a good time. I wish I knew how to swim so I could have enjoyed the pool and the beach a little more. The tourist were all very friendly. The resort workers are very mannerly, very courteous and polite. I did enjoyed my stay at Riu, I will surely go back to Riu again. I would like to emphasize that all the workers at Riu are very respectable and they all value their job seriously. None were disrespectful!

The hotel was nice and pool area was very nice...i just fid not like the beach found it not very clean and water not that clear...the entertainment staff were fantastic. Overall was a very nice hotel

The grounds and resort layout are great. Food is excellent. Rooms need a refresh and room keys are a problem. Staff very friendly and engaging. Nice beach. Front desk very responsive as was housekeeping.

Our Booking with trip Central agent Jack Gentile was spot on, he delivered every thing as promised. Sunwing check in was swift and uncomplicated. We did have one issue however, with the ability to book excursions onboard flight. I would not recommend it if attending this destination Riu Montego Bay. Although it was designed to save us money from $122. USD at the resort we paid $107CND on the plain. The Sunwing Nexus agent at the resort was not happy with us. We found the same excursion and better for $59. through the Scuba caribe company on the beach. So be advised. Hotel checkin was fine our room, Garden view was very clean 2313, our cleaning staff Shanique was very attentive with any extras we asked for and always a Towel design left each day, very professional. Any staff we met where always quick with a smile and everything ERIE Mon? Staff, at the bars were very attentive, Obrian stood out aswell as many others, Chop Chop at the jerk Chicken hut was Great. Entertainment staff always stopped and visited on the beach, Damion was Great to give his perspective on Jamaican life and history, Fyar and Sunshine always funny to chat with and again full of information through their life experiences in Jamaica. The Beach was very nice and neatly kept although small and bordered by non accessible adjoining hotels. The Ocean was a disappointment the bottom was clay/ mucky or sea grass covered and usually murky. The buffet was very good with plenty of variety Lance and Teveca always with coffee , water and wine. The entire Jamaica experience for us was better than Expected, will definitely return.

I stayed at this resort with my family (family of 4), children included for 7 days and we found this resort mediocre compared to other ones we have been to. The washrooms were disgusting- toilets always clogged. It was hard to flush the toilet, my daughter often complained that she could not flush it. We were not able to visit any of the A la carte's because you can no longer book reservations, it is on a first come first serve basis with ridiculous lines--try standing in line with two children a 2 and 5 year old. There wasn't a huge selection at the buffet and very little authentic Jamaican food. However the Jerk Hut is amazing we went every single day. Our room was cleaned only two times out of seven days! That is ridiculous especially with kids. The beds were not the greatest but overall the room was okay, spacious. They also did not restock the minibar and fridge had to call the front desk for it to be done. We found the beach very rough only spent time there twice out of the whole trip other than when we went down to the Jerk Hut to get our lunch. The pools were alright, the side with the swim up bar is very busy. The entertainment staff (we love Zoey and Foxxi!) were very friendly and interactive. My family enjoyed the shows every evening. We received great service from all staff overall. For how expensive it was to stay at this resort we definitely didn't expect it to be mediocre.
