Beautiful Beach Experience!!
We stayed at this resort the week of May 9 to the 16th. The resort grounds were very well kept clean. The beach is one of the best I’ve experienced the convenience of the beach bar restaurant and washroom facilities close by made it much easier to enjoy the beach as much as possible I also appreciated the Butler style beach service we received for drinks The pool was kept clean. The fact that there was no pool bar was a plus in my eyes. There were many activities to try during the day without pressure, which made it even more inviting The food in general was good. A lot of selection croissants were to die for the 24 seven bar at the lobby was well stocked with snacks, coffee tea, and the bar staff were very friendly. Entertainment was music themed all week long and quite enjoyable fantastic service was given at the three à la carts food was well presented and fresh Steak was by far the best I’ve had on the island We travelled with Sunwing overall our representative Maria was very friendly and helpful. We were able to contact her using WhatsApp, which was convenient. overall I would return to this resort. But would also like to see improvement on the following. Service in general, especially at the buffet was lacking we had to make eye contact and ask for service most of the time, but when we did get it, it was good that went for all the staff in general. Also, there was a timeshare component that we agreed to explore I appreciate and understand wanting to draw up business, your asked to join a session for an hour and then it ends up extending to close to three I think maybe the approach could be different and after the first hour and if the answer is no then the answer is no

Disappointed
Just returned from this well manicured property. The beach is beautiful and the pool area is nice. The food quality and service was lacking attention and organization in the buffet, especially in the morning. We waited 45 minutes one morning for coffee. The service in the buffet in the evening was much better. The snack bar food was good if you managed to get there when the food was prepared otherwise it was left there for hours. The bar tenders provided great service and drinks. The daily activities were great , but the nightly entertainment was lacking. There was diffently a language barrier in just about all areas, except for the viva club recruiters. They had no problem speaking English and would constantly harass you.

Relaxing and Intimate
We are regulars at this resort and love the feeling of coming home every time we visit. From Edwin and Adonis and Henry in reception to David & Patricia in lobby bar - you are treated like family. Of course you have Gabriel and Carlos and Alexander in the Fusion to make every meal special. Ariel and Michael and Raphael in the Animation team are always there to entertain. Rooms are great - food is amazing and drinks are perfect.

Great place to stay!
Short ride from the airport! Which is great in the heat. Except for the small bus! Too cramped. Very clean and comfortable rooms. A couple of power outages but they only lasted few seconds. Friendly, hard working staff. Big thank you to Yocairy!! She rocks! Food was excellent with a wide variety. Resort is the perfect size! Easy to get around. Pool is clean, and well maintained. Beautiful beach and view of the ocean. Will definitely go back.

Great experience!
We are so happy we chose Viva V Samana by Wyndham for our vacation and would absolutely return. The resort is only a few years old and very up to date. The beach was gorgeous and well maintained by staff. Our room was new and felt clean and fresh after housekeeping. We were also pleasantly surprised by the little lounge pool in our patio. We had read some negative reviews about the resort food, but we were honestly pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it all. The restaurants were good too, but you had to book them quickly. We didn't do any excursions, but we took a taxi to Las Terrenas one morning and shopped and wandered and it's absolutely worth doing. We loved this resort and met several people who had returned many times (one couple said it was their 7th visit!). We can see why and would absolutely come back again if we come back to the Dominican.

Lovely resort to vacation at
A very clean resort, food was good and fresh, drinks were typical sweet sugary fruity with alcohol. worth the upgrade for the premium alcohol selection and the fresh fruit juices. the beach and ocean are nice; there is a sandbar and while I stayed the red flag was up for 5 days, due to the ocean undertow, its rough water to swim in. There is one large pool- clean but extremely busy for a smaller resort. Theme nights and entertainment were great. 3 a la carte restaurants were also good. Friendly staff and there is an Excellent medical facility on site. I had to use due to an allergic reaction I suffered mid week.

Grounds are well maintained, a lot of plants and flowers. Room was big, with large balcony. Food was very good, different every day. Nice concerts were every evening. They have clean water stations on the first floor. Don't forget to bring diarrhea medicine.

Great resort and the best beach!
If you are looking for the best beach this is it. The water and surf are safe and fun to boogie board. No sharp coral or yucky seaweed anywhere, just pure sand. The amount of palm trees at the beach allow for shade with dappled sunlight so you don’t feel like you are baking in the sun. The pleasant breeze and view of the ocean was the highlight. The food is ok and has a variety. We all did get sick with some food bug for one day.

We enjoyed this resort
This is a smaller resort, but the beach is completely amazing. You can walk for hours! We had a room on the main floor and were happy to note that it had a very nice patio with a lounge bed and 2 chairs as well as a small plunge pool. The food was ok. There are 3 a la cartes but I did not enjoy any of them and would have preferred to just go to the buffet. The staff was great but be prepared to not get what your ordered. There is also a wood fired pizza oven so pizza is always available for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, both of us contracted Norovirus and were quite sick for 2 days. There were more people at the resort who were also sick.

Beautiful property but....
This is obviously my own personal observations and thoughts: Viva V is a beautiful resort on a wonderful stretch of beach where you can walk either direction for hours and a lovely 25 minutes (bus) drive from Samana (AZS) Airport (a still quaint and small airport). The layout of the resort is easy to navigate and the low rise buildings have rooms that are clean with comfortable bed and clean, decent bedsheets. The rooms that have the pools, these pools are very rarely used and they are really cold. Bungalow area (across the drive from main building) are nestled nicely in gardens with a small sitting are with bar of their own. Amenities for shower in the rooms are minimal, so bring your own and the bathrobes are ready to be used more as rags than as robes. The towels are good but housekeeping tend to limit the numbers and which towels they will provide (very inconsistent)...and that's where it ends! Our biggest concern was the food / buffet. Although the al la carte restaurants were decent it could be hard to get a reservation at an early time so the buffet was a good alternative for many meals. The service at the specialized restaurants was good and efficient however, beware the beef (throughout the resort actually), ensure it is cooked.! The Buffet; the floor was deadly slippery, didn't look like they cleaned it, food was not kept at correct temperatures and left out longer than what IMO, would be considered safe, also repetitive and a bit dull. Granted, I think they try. There never seemed to be enough dinnerware / glassware and what was being used was often cracked, chipped or dirty looking. There was a constant battle for locating tables that were set (unless you line up when buffet first opens for the meal), and then the tables were often not set in their entirety. I actually saw staff reusing some table sets that didn't look like they had been used ?♀️. There does not seem to be enough staff, training, supervision etc. or hygienic practices in general (even with the availability of hand sanitizer). Drinks were good as was the coffee. I even found the wine rather pleasant! As for the water; this resort does NOT use plastic bottle so make sure you bring your own. They use a system called Vevo throughout the resort that allows you access to filtered and good water. I did not find this an issue... except when the system lost power and there was no water to be had. They do have cartons of water should you require. We did lose power off and on throughout the week, electrics, water, WIFI etc. but the generators would pick up the slack fairly quickly. The pool would be considered small by many but IMO it was not an issue. It was kept clean and there were no real issues in finding loungers unless you wished a pad for the lounger, then that was an issue. The loungers are not comfortable so the pad was extremely beneficial (more of these would help the situation). The outside towels were always available. In general; I would not classify this as a 4 star resort. ? This resort has great potential but with not enough resources and IMO poor hygiene practices I would not be returning. That said, I would recommend this location but be prepared, and if you have a sensitive stomach / gut, I would not recommend. While we were there my self and many others fell prone to gastroenteritis. This is NOT pleasant albeit the onsite Doctor and Nurse were great and were being worked off their feet with these illnesses.?♀️ The whole resort seemed to be a bit disorganized and at times felt chaotic (again could be lack of staff) The staff in general were very pleasant and helpful however, this is a very TIP based resort, more so than many others I have been to even though we do tip. Here, without the tips, one didn't receive consistent quality of service. If you wish to exchange USD, they will for pesos, and they won't even give smaller USD in exchange for a larger denomination of USD?♀️(hotel policy)!! Also, there is a high percentage of French Canadian who visit this resort compared to English speaking. This was a a first for me. So, be prepared to try and speak more than just Spanish. ? An issue I do have are the smokers. Most were very courteous however, please stop butting out in the grass, beach ground etc. The remnants are not biodegradable and it is filthy making the resort look nasty! ?

Judge for yourself
We almost cancelled based on the reviews. We were there January 24-31, 2026. The one and only complaint we have is that the food was never warm enough. It wouldn’t matter what restaurant you went to the food was cold. As for people saying they were sick, you’re in a different country eating and drinking differently so yes you may have an upset stomach. We all ate the food and no one was ill. Take what you read with a grain of salt. After being there we are glad we didn’t cancel. We will return.

Great beach and locatiom
Our room was in the newer section and very nice. The resort was well maintained and nicely decorated for Christmas. There were some minor shortcomings; sun loungers had no cushions, towels and sheets all looked grey, food and drink quality was inconsistent. We enjoyed ourselves very much and the price was great so we would recommend.

Best beach ever, However !!!!
Our third visit to this resort and 4th time to this beach. In all of our travels, this is the 2nd best beach ever to walk and experience. The V room with plunge was worth the little extra expense, doubles the patio size, although the pool was cool and you couldn’t retract the awning for the sun to warm up the pool. Pina coladas were 7/10 from a slushy machine. Other drinks like a Singapore Sling, Mai Tai, were, well let’s just say horrible. Wish I would have booked the bungalows. Otherwise, our room was in the 600 block. Request 600 block rooms 6111-1114. Or 6211-6214, 6311-6314 as these are on the end on the 6 block and have full ocean view. 6314 would be the ultimate private balcony. There’s no need for the towel game as there are enough lounge chairs, but you do need to get up by 7 and play the game when you need the cushion for the lounge. MOST IMPORTANTLY, there is a gastronomic virus circulating and the Air Canada rep tells you although Air Canada doesn’t. We both were sick for 2 days. Apparently all over the DR. The restaurants are so/so. Menu doesn’t change. For the price, it’s a good deal.

Decent resort for reasonable price
Everything was good - beach, ocean, food, bars, room, but one nuisance should be mentioned. For some reason they organise the live performances with the local entertainers every evening right at the central plaza next to the main restaurant between the buildings ((though there is a special theatre next to the beach remotely from the room buildings) and such performances usually do not end till 10pm or even later. My first priorities at the resort are always the beach and the ocean and I go to bed rather early moreover in November it is dark after 6pm. And I go to the beach before 8am. So, with the loud music from the performances there is no chance to get asleep before 10pm. I really cannot understand why they do not begin the shows earlier and do not wrap up before 9pm. Only the guests at the buildings 5 and 6 can sleep relatively well, those buildings are protected by the buildings 2 and 3.

Honest Review
Pros * Beautiful beach, raked daily * Clean updated guest rooms * Friendly staff * Short commute from Samana Airport * Excellent service & food in a la carte restaurants Cons * Use of drones on the beach (invasion of privacy) * In order to get a chair on the beach, you must get up before 6 AM to set out a towel on a chair * Smoking in posted non smoking areas * Dress code not enforced for a la carte dining (guests wearing shorts, printed t-shirts, flip flops, etc) * Not much hot water, for showers, in the evening * Only 1 bar to service both the pool and beach guests, always a queue * Under staffed throughout resort * Very difficult to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants (early times seemed to be gone, when the dates opened up 4 days prior) * Beach towel availability was hit and miss due to no exchange program, lack of guests returning towels, towels not being collected at the end of the day from the beach and pool * Club Viva members jumping the queue for drink service, having their own roped off area of the beach, rooftop bar, their own area in the buffet, etc. * Difficult to find a clean table, or one with a full place setting, at the buffet (always searching for utensils, napkins or glassware) * Difficult to get coffee/tea at breakfast or wine at dinner due to what seemed like a lack of staffing in the buffet dining area * Club Viva salespeople constantly hounding * Food poisoning on Tuesday, February 25th (which was confirmed with other guests as they too had it on the same day). Resort does not consider it food poisoning unless you visit the doctor and report it, which is difficult to do when unable to leave the room * Feral cats/dogs all over the resort. Witnessed a cat using the beach as a litter box

Very Nice
We just recently came back from a two week trip to Samana at the Viva V. We picked it because we were interested in checking out the town of Las Terrenas and it was the closest hotel. Unfortunately when we got there we realized that despite it only being a short 3-4km distance, to get there is a big up and down hill trip. That's okay. We took a cab to check it out. The hotel itself is really pretty. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. That really makes it special. You can see that the gardeners take great pride in their work. The bay by the beach is amazing. It's so big! You can walk and walk and walk for hours and barely see anyone. There are some people surfing, but it's really quiet. The only downside is that when we were there it was a bit rough if you wanted to swim. But if you walked about 20 minutes to the left there was a really nice calm area for swimming. The food was also really good. We loved the buffet. The a al carte restos were okay. I preferred the atmosphere and food in the buffet. There was always something tasty. We were there over New Years and the spread was incredible! They had hundreds of fresh shucked oysters and bubbly at midnight. The party was so much fun. There was a show/entertainment every night. The animation staff are adorable and you can see that they are working hard to entertain the crowds. Really, overall, we had a great holiday. The only small thing that is that you can't flush the toilet paper. That's not uncommon in the Caribbean but a lot of the guests weren't following the rules so the public toilets were often plugged. That was nasty. The staff were quick to fix, but it was a mess anyway. I don't know how you would fix that. It's too bad that people don't follow the rules. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to visiting again!

Meh..
I have been to 10+ resorts in the caribbean, I would rate this hotel a 2.5. Pros: -clean -Great Christmas buffet -clean rooms daily -night entertainment was provided on some nights -good games during the day at the beach -no sellers at the beach like there are in Punta Cana -AMAZING animation team members!! So fun and sweet! Cons: -found a live cockroach in my sleeping mask -humidity in room TV would not work, nothing to do on rainy days -no vegetarian food available in room service (not even any accomodation) -nothing to walk to outside the resort -low level customer service -music was so repetitive -scammed into the VIP tour, do not waste 2 hours of your time. They want $14,900 US for you to invest in a package of 50,000 points. Get away! The spa certificate and the tshirt is not worth it. -Bees all over the beach bar. Gross and they don't do anything about it. -the beach walk-in bar has miserable staff and it's so depressing-looking -the theatre is not used so why not do something with it? -some staff are so friendly -Great cigar guy named JJ! -Was not ready for a half-naked show where they obligate these young girls to dress in tiny underwear-like skirts in front of a mature crowd. -Disco suxks..only a handful people at any one night, including the animation staff -nothing else to do after 1am.

Fabulous stay
We stayed with family for a week and totally enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was amazing. We had no complaints. There was so much variety. We all absolutely loved the Fusion a la carte and would have eaten there every night if we could have. Also loved the pool. The entertainment team was fantastic. It was a nice quiet relaxing time.

Perfect place for vacation
Spent one week with my wife in the first half of June. It was our first time at this resort and we like everything about the place: adults only with limited number of patrons, well equipped rooms with comfortable queen beds, daily cleaning and towels change (though the cleaning begins usually at 11am and may last till 4pm), fantastic beach and ocean (long chairs are available all day long, no need to take them early in the morning), tasty and healthy food with vast varieties (great assortment of deserts), friendly service and entertainment (group of cheerleaders tried to entertain the patrons all day long, invited singers every night), special events at the buffet, quality drinks at the bars with the long list of cocktails, small gym is well equipped and fitness fans may support the form during vacation. The resort is well managed and personnel really tries to provide the best service. Definitely it worth the price and for the next vacation we will not look for something else. Though a couple shortcomings may be mentioned: water supply to the room has been interrupted one day and one night without notice, and 3 last nights were not very comfortable because of the neighbours - not very civilised patrons used to get to the room about 10pm and watched TV with a rather high volume till around 2am. Since the TV sets are mounted on the walls we had to listen to their noise. After the first night I placed a complaint to the Customer service but it seems nobody talked to the neighbours because they set TV at the same volume in the night. On the third night I smacked the wall and only then they surprisingly reduced the volume.

Not bad, Not Amazing!
First thing Air Transat switch plane going to Samana DR last minute and my row 1 seats turned into row 28, I am handicap due to a motor vehicle accident 5 years ago and a heart condition that I can not walk for long! informed Air Transat of this but they said "hey you can exit from the rear of the plane when it lands! The leg room was atrocious, my back was sore for 2 days after the flight down! The other thing is if you need internet this is NOT the place for you! I am a computer tech and know lots about networks and Wi-Fi and such the internet provided was right out of the stone age! 8 mb speed at best usually around 4 mb! The entertainment was lousy! They had low budget shows, usually 2 people one singing and one playing keyboard with a laptop with prerecorded backing tracks and most of the music was from 80's and 90's lounge lizard type of tunes! they did have a live band one night out of 2 week stay! food was medium to good but not a lot of variety from night to night! This is defiantly not a 5 star resort! 3.5 at best. Our HVac system in the room was leaking water on the floor so much we had to put a towel down to soak it up! The entire time we stayed the room had a strong smell of sewer gas lingering in the room! Also my wife and I were sneezing and coughing quite a lot! Someone suggested it might be a mold problem? All and all our expectations are not super high! So we had a good time but we definitely will not be returning to Viva Via Samana, and I thing we will avoid the Wyndham properties as well in general! They have a 2 tier setup regular which we were and club which is approximately 30 grand USD to join for 10 years. its a points system that I would not buy into! And would suggest anyone else to stay away from! The plane ride back was great had the same seats we were assigned when we booked the trip! 4J and 4K lots of room I believe it was an Air bus 320? Nice aircraft looked fairly new and engines were extremely quite! The other things I could mention were pool towels were ratty for the most part and had a lot of bleach stains and just looked old! most towels were not even that clean! Some had like a BO smell to them! I was also disappointed in the booze! it was very low quality although some times they had Stoli Vodka which we like Cointreau was either watered down or some fake stuff! Oddly enough they had Sambuca which I drank a lot of and reminded me of the Sambuca I drink @ home! They had some supply chain issues no bacon a few mornings and only peperoni for the pizzas on a rare occasion, cook said they didn't have any! Pizza was taste though. I don't generally eat pizza when I'm away! One night I had breaded veal and it was very good! and one afternoon they served empanada's only the one time though! They were soooo good! Again my review reflects some of the bad stuff as we tended to not forget that! I tried to make this as fair as possible! And the beach and pool were great, only complaint is clean the pool more often and do a better job of it! I also had a room on the ground floor with the plunge pool! Was half empty most of the time and full of insects stayed out of it most of the time, the reason I booked the plunge pool room is that I would be guaranteed a ground floor with my disability that was imperative! The building are 4 floors and no elevators unless you are a club member! Hotel was pretty clean and staff were great management were not quite as good as the regular working staff! I would suggest the overhaul there entertainment crew get more with the times seems right out of the 80's and 90's club med type of stuff!

Fun week in Samana
Spent a beautiful week in Samana at the Viva V Wyndham All Inclusive. Mostly good reviews, but some not so good. The resort is beautiful. Gardens, Beach, Rooms, Restaurants, Entertainment, Staff all very good. We had a second floor room. 1st floor rooms had dehumidifiers running 24/7. The lounge chairs were very uncomfortable. Good except for "Viva Club" Reps
We recently returned from a two week vacation at the Viva V Samana by Wyndham. Overall we enjoyed our our stay at the resort and would rate the resort at 4 star. For us we enjoy a quieter environment and this resort suited us perfectly. If you are looking for a lively environment this resort is not for you. Our room was comfortable and situated away from the lobby and the pool area, therefore we seldom had any noise from these areas. The food was ok, 3+. The buffet was repetitive but we were always able to find something. People with special dietary needs might have problems finding a variety. The Fusion al a carte was very good, the international food al a carte was ok at best and we did not try the sea food restaurant. The beach is excellent and a person could walk for a few miles. There is plenty of shade at the beach and we were always able to get chairs in the shade without getting up early to save a chair. There were also no vendors on the beach which was a nice change. The pool is nice, but shaded chairs around the pool are limited. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The animation team were great and tried to keep guests involved with various games and shows. The biggest negative for the resort are the reps trying to sell "Viva Club" memberships, which is basically a timeshare. We were pestered at least seven times from one rep alone and he would not quit until I told him I would contact security because of his harassment. We will probably not return to this resort because we enjoy seeing other places. However If you like a quiet environment this resort might suit you.

Great quaint adults only resort
It was our first time at this resort and found it very nice, quiet and relaxing. It's a small resort where everything is easy and quick to get to. Our room was 3301 which is right by the buffet, lobby and lobby bar. The room was a newer room and it was one of the best rooms we've ever had in all our years of traveling (23 yrs). The beach was very nice, the water was not calm at all that week (like in some pics we've seen online where the water was very calm and clear). There were some crazy waves which made it fun but you always had to be on guard or you'd get hit and knocked over and in no time you'd be under water so there was no relaxing in the water. It has a great beach to walk long distance on. It rained 4 days out of the full 6 days we were there and our last 2 full days, my husband got sick from the food. His second day being sick he went to the medical center on the resort. They hooked him up to IV fluids with meds, did blood work, urine and fecal tests to make sure he was ok to fly back home. All tests came back negative so they figured it was something he ate. We believe it was the Caesar salad from one of the a-la-carte restaurants we ate at the night before he got sick. We ate the same food except for that. The medical staff were awesome and very knowledgeable. They would come to our room and check on the IV, change it and give him more meds (thank you Dr. Ana Santos and nurse Luisa). The food is so-so, you don't go hungry and neither do the cats. If you don't like animals around you when eating, this place may not be for you. The buffet and the one outdoor a-la-carte restaurant has cats that hang out around the tables. We are not pool people so can't really comment about the pool. We would most likely return to this resort at some point.

Would Recommend this Resort!
Stayed at this resort November 2023 and it was well worth the money. The resort was very clean and well cared for. Long beach and beautiful clear blue water! Food was good as far as quantity and variety. Restaurants always available. We stayed in the Vibe room which was clean, sheets changed every 3 days or upon request. We had problems with getting English TV stations which never was resolved before we left. Also it was advertised as ocean view but in reality “no†vibe room has ocean view unless you are a Vive member. Staff was always friendly and willing to help. I would highly recommend and would go back!

Amazing Resort!
I highly recommend this resort. I have not one complaint and all but positive feedback from the price, food, housekeeping to the grounds. The cleanest and prestine hotel with continual perks. We even found out in the bungalow section we stayed in we had a butler, Adonis who was very informative. We had room service 24/7 on top of an extended buffet 3x/daily with food to die for. Three beautiful restaurants on top of the buffet that we only took advantage of the last night as we were all always exhausted and back in our rooms by 8p.m. with food comas 🤣. The beach is breathtaking and although I am a water baby, I didn't quite make it fully in as the ocean was often volatile but still no complaints, the sound and view was beautiful enough and the pool sufficed 💯% As I don't drink alcoholic beverages, they had more than enough amazing selections of mixed fresh juices, Cafe frappes, club sodas and of course ice cold bottled 💧 water. Wi-fi everywhere and someone asked about the mosquitoes.... there were some but I didn't see any. Only had one bite that I didn't feel but it was there. We had visits daily from a family of felines while we ate and entertained us, the kittens were adorable and had a hard time ignoring. Cutest dogs roaming the beach with a care free vibe and such respectful boundaries to tourists. I left extremely satisfied.

Everything we’d hoped
Firstly, we’re an easily pleased couple, within reason; and the price all in for this trip was so right it set the bar low — we were hopeful but not expecting greatness. Our aims were to disconnect, and to relax and be active in equal measures, and that’s exactly what we did. The place was pretty quiet, which we loved; and no kids of course….!!! Our room was so close / closest to the beach relative to others, with a partial ocean view from the balcony. Location was well worth the minor maintenance issues. -comfortable king-sized bed - coffee maker with coffee, and mini fridge with pop, beer and water (both not always stocked in spite of tipping, maybe would need to ask) -big bathroom and shower (water temp not great, limited opportunity in the evening for a hot shower with pressure; bathroom door didn’t latch; one light flickered until dead on the second day). -housekeeping very friendly and pleasant, just not consistent with small things (missing coffee cups, face towels, teaspoons and creamer for coffee etc) Food was delicious and highly varied at the main buffet on most days, we either really loved a given dish or didn’t like. -no need for restaurant reservations, but be sure to get in early on busier days (weds to sat) -Fusion restaurant was super delicious, went twice (the salmon..!!) -desserts were mostly a miss, but surprisingly great ice cream and delicious fresh fruit - ate and drank everything (except tap water) without hesitation, no significant issues - room service not recommended… - drinks from the ‘hip’ bar were worlds better than beach bar drinks, but pretty inconsistent at both. branded liquors available at both - some drinks like daiquiri, pina colada (so good), mamajuana not on the menu but could order Staff throughout the resort were very pleasant, everyone in general seemed relaxed and happy. -late-night check-in was easy and friendly, allowed guests to eat first and check-in after -bar and restaurant staff were mostly lovely and otherwise seemed neutral -virtually no salespeople except for one pushy attempt at timeshare selling -animation team were awesome Beach and pool were serene. - not a white-sand beach and didn’t expect that, but the water was clear and beautiful. some seaweed on some days but nothing unexpected there for us…it’s a beach. -good waves on most days for body-boarding or kayaking in and out - shoreline made for a beautiful and lengthy walk in either direction with some nice surprises along the way -no pool bar, again a plus for us. meant the pool was usually quiet in the day with guests lounging around or swimming. clean, spacious, relaxing. Gym was OK, great they have it and very useable but could do with updated or better maintained equipment. Activities were fun!! -again, animation team were above and beyond — daytime engagement was varied and fun, and nightly entertainment was exceptional almost every night. -Archery got competitive in a great way -Snorkelling a no-go, nothing to see, though there were excursions available. -We would not again take an excursion involving ‘bacardi’ or cayo island. No wifi except in the room as far as we cared to check. Limited access worked in our favour. Friendly and adorable stray cats and a couple of dogs visited frequently…and we could not have been happier for it. We’d go back for certain, especially if booking through TripCentral.

Very strong 3.5
The rooms were clean and bed comfortable. Food at the specialty restaurants were very good especially at the Fusion. I would recommend the cream of pistachio soup and grilled salmon. Unfortunately, the food especially at the Buffet gets cold quickly and the variety is limited. However, you will not starve. The fried chicken at the Mediterranean for lunch is comparable to KFC. Very good. The staff are hard working and pleasant. As well, the animation team is very active to keep you entertained. Beautiful beach that you can walk for miles. The AC in the Fusion and Seafood restaurants could be improved. It gets very warm. I would also recommend that a dedicated computer and printer be available to assist visitors in completing their Exit Visas 72 hours prior leaving the resort.

Nice Resort....But
The beach was definitely a 10. Beach towels were always available. Water sports activities were perfect. The grounds were beautiful and well kept throughout. The buffet was usually always good. Fusion was the best restaurant of the three. The other two restaurants could use improvements on the menu. The service staff were mostly friendly and courteous. The two bars were ok but certain liquor availability was unpredictable. Most bar tenders did not speak any English which often made it difficult to get the drinks we ordered. In general, the bar service staff were not friendly and spoke Spanish amongst themselves. Their attitudes could definitely use improvement. Our ground level Vibe room had a musty odour and was very damp. The shower leaked onto the floor in front of the vanity. After being relocated to another room, it was somewhat better but the room was still damp. Our bed sheets never felt dry and our clothes, towels were always damp. The room's air conditioner, although it did operate, never seemed to be able to remove the humidity, and when we turned the fan from low to medium or high speed, it was a very loud and vibrated, so we had no choice but to leave it on the low setting. The sliding door did not lock (nor did the first room's door). The in-room espresso coffee maker did not work. After having told the hotel about it twice, they replaced it with another machine that also did not work. At that point, we just gave up on it. Room towels were hit and miss. Some days we would get one wash cloth (instead of two) and other days none. The shower floor towel was also hit and miss. The beds, including pillows and sheets, need major improvement. We never had a good night's sleep. Lastly, the Vibe Members Club is rediculous. Guests who purchased it told us it was a money grab and offered little benefit. It made us feel underpriviledged every time we went to the bar and saw the handful of bottles that we were not allowed to order, or the special seating section at the buffet. In closing, we would love to return to this resort, but not until we hear reviews that significant improvements have been made.

No shade!
There were 8 umbrella’s & 6 cove like structures around the pool area which housed about 125 lounge chairs so you can imagine it was a bit of a blood bath to get shade. Most of the staff were quite delightful especially those in the entertainment field running activities. One waitress actually rolled her eyes at me at the table when I asked for more wine which I found unacceptable! Rude! Sand fleas were a real issue here, many guests had to see the doctor. Although, as with any resort there are pro’s & con’s the biggest, cheapest fixable issue was shade. So many resorts I have visited in the past had umbrella’s mounted to the side of the pool so no matter what time of the day it was you weren’t melting.

Ok resort
Resort is nice very nice gardens and clean. Always pool towels available. Service at the buffet is awful tipping doesn’t help. Communicating in English is a challenge esp at the buffet. Bar staff was nice and friendly and knew us well. A la carts don’t need to be booked they are first come first serve. Service was ok but was a long wait after being seated. Went to the Mediterranean one twice, first time was there for 2 hours second time 1.5 but the wine still flowed (and they had the best wine) . Pool is very nice.always chairs available Beach is very shady lots of palm trees. I like to sit in the sun at the beach and this was hard to do, also a slope to the water. Always lots of chairs around. Food was ok the pizza at the snack bar is always good. 20 min drive through the mountains to the resort. No other resorts in site so nobody selling on the beach. Apparently the is a shack around the tip on the left side that had great seafood. Overall nice place but I don’t think I will return.

Scenic Resort
This is easy to navigate small adult resort. The views are spectacular and the beach is beautiful. The staff are friendly. We had a vibe room with a little pool and probably had the best one in the resort for getting the most sun for the day 3107. We were there the first week of February. The room had water in the mini fridge and some coffee and sugar for the espresso machine. No beer, soft drinks or snacks. Seemed very hard to get any cans of beer. The king bed was very well used on one side and needs to be replaced. We had these tiny ant like bugs in the room on table under the tv. I noticed them on the buns at that buffet as well. We only ate at the buffet. The wait time on getting a meal in the evening restaurants was a long time at one.

Beautiful Property but Over Priced
Beautiful relaxing property but dramatically understaffed and very overpriced for what you get. Food is ok but nothing special and very repetitive. Organization is lacking and no information boards with schedules of activities posted anywhere. Discounts offered with Air Canada packages for spa etc were not honoured because we didn’t ask for them upon arrival. As guests I think that should be given at registration and not have to ask as a customer. Someone’s cleaning pool each morning but pool was still very dirty. Beach is beautiful and goes for miles. No swim up bar makes it difficult to get a drink when lounging around the pool. Overall we made it count and enjoyed our week but we have received far more from 5 star resorts at both Jamaica and Mexico for a lot less money in recent years. This place should not be charging much over $1300 Canadian. The staff work hard and try their best but understaffed and unorganized.

Amazing Resort
The resort was small but cozy and very friendly and we loved it. The rooms were spotless and service was excellent. What we liked about this resort is that every room had an Oceanview and the recent restorations were done with class. Each room had balconies with glass railings and did not obstruct any view of the grounds or ocean. The grounds were green and lush. The food was excellent and catered to all international tourists. The beach was excellent and clean and we loved the fact that you could walk for unlimited distance without any fear. We had no problem getting beach chairs there were plenty of them. Beach towels were at our disposal with no limits. The staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout the resort.

The grounds are very beautifully kept. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed the Cirque de Soleil and the 70&80's show. The food at the breakfast buffet could have been warmer, but that problem was solved once I discovered the omelette station would make you a fried egg and also had bacon. The cappuccinos were very good.We really enjoyed the Fusion restaurant. The salmon and risotto was delicious.House wines were also good. The Mediterranean restaurant was hit or miss depending on what you ordered. The beach although beautiful, was slanted which was a bit of an issue for a less abled body. The disco was far too loud to enjoy inside.Almost every person employed there was friendly and acknowledged your presence. The front desk workers were very helpful!

The food we good always versatile. Would be great to have more musicians coming playing in the resort not only Spanish singers .

Great Staff!
The grounds were beautiful and the staff were very nice! The activities personnel, especially Jordan, Dens, Chocolate and Joanne were a lot of fun and kept us entertained all week! Great job!!! One big negative: the resort didn’t have enough designated non-smoking areas. The few they did have were right beside smoking areas, so there was no way for us non smokers to escape the smoke! That was a big negative for us and we would not return for that reason alone.

Wonderful vacation
The resort is beautiful, clean and delicious. Well kept grounds, clean rooms, scrumptious restaurants. Never waited for food or drinks. Amazing staff. Now the bad. When we arrived at airport we had to fill out another declaration from. Mass confusion. It is 9pm we are hot and tired. The print on the forms are so small. Why couldn't we do it on plane ? We waited over an hour for everyone to complete these forms so we could shuttle to our hotel. And there were no drinks. Not a welcome cocktail, not beer for sale at airport or on bus, first time for us, no beer ! Not even water to drink! When we arrived at hotel there was 1 sandwich in room. Only sandwiches available from room service. By now it is 11pm. We are at only bar open, no snack bar !the Disvo has ear splitting music and of course no one in it. We grabbed drinks and sat in lobby. Next problem. SMOKING. It is not enforced. Smoking with non smoking sections. Saw people sit at non smoking tables and smoke. Some took signs off table. Staff would do nothing about it. My last complaint is the bar , disco closes whenever.....we were seated in front of glass door to Disco, playing cards, drinking, and tipping. Twice she closed bar an hour early. Didn't ask if we would like another drink, of course ! And didn't tell us she was closing. We would have been quite happy with another drink or 2. It was only midnight and all inclusive. The Activities were great. Sometimes you had to remind them but they were willing g to play all the games and we had a great time !

Fantastic resort for any desired vacation.
It is as quiet and intimate as you want it to be. There are also activities throughout the day and evening to become fully engaged if you choose. The food was the best I have had at an all inclusive destination. Staff were all very friendly, polite, helpful and caring. I cannot say enough about the experience from pick up at the airport, check-in, room cleanliness, food, drinks and general hospitality. If someone finds something negative to say about this resort the time that I was there, they are a truly unhappy person. Thank-you so much for sharing your resort, country and culture with us.

Beautiful and relaxing gem
From the moment we arrived our stay was relaxing. Our rooms were ready (earlier than stated check in time). The staff and porters all smiling and welcoming. My husband and I travelled with our two daughters to spend New Years in a beautiful relaxing oasis and to say goodbye to a year best forgotten (2019). And that is exactly what we got. Our rooms for the duration of the stay were kept clean with the mini fridge stocked daily with pop, beer and water. The rooms were modern and beds comfortable. We loved the showers with the big rain heads and beautifully tiled floors and walls. The public bathrooms were also very beautiful with carved rock sinks and beautiful local marble tiles. We liked going to the buffet for each meal as opposed to the a la carte restaurants. The wait staff were quick and attentive. There was a large variety of good quality food choices that were varied each night. We tried the Fusion restaurant one night, and while delicious and presented beautifully, we did not want to spend a long time at dinner and preferred to sit around the lobby/bar area and listen to the local talent sipping cocktails and chatting with the friendly and entertaining animation crew or other guests. While the pool area was stunning and welcoming, we ended up spending all of our time down by the beautiful and clean beach. You could walk a long way each direction. We had a blast boogie boarding and playing volleyball. The beach staff from the animation crew to the bartenders were always friendly and smiling. They seemed very happy to be there and enjoyed their jobs along with the guests. We found beach chairs every day but the ever present towel on chairs with nobody in sight was an issue here as it seems to be in every resort. LOVED that the towels did not require towel cards and that we could use as many as we wanted. What a refreshing idea! There were a few animation crew that made our stay especially fun and comfortable. Honourable mention for Miguel Jordan and Adolfo! They just made the trip so fun and cheery. There were others that also stood out but I do not remember their names. The grounds were very beautiful with a large variety of exotic and flowering plants, and extremely well maintained. This resort is not necessarily about the night life as it quieted down fairly quickly and the disco was on the beach so you could not hear it past 10pm. News Years eve on the other hand was extremely well done with an incredible banquet dinner followed by a crazy party by the pool. No expense was spared and food included lobster, any kind of seafood you could want, elaborate dishes and decorations. The party had a light and sound show to rival any I have seen. The staff worked very hard to ensure everyone had a blast. The next morning, the resort was pristine again. I cannot imagine how much work it took to recover the serene beauty of the grounds after such a big party. Bravo Viva Wyndham V Samana!

Pictures don’t do this resort justice
Check in was fast and easy, room requests granted and easily found with all items in working order and clean. Food was great with enough selection to satisfy, all seasoned well in my opinion. No reservations at a la cartes, and guys can wear shorts, also never any wait. Beach is stunning and clean, clear water with no seaweed or shells/corals to hurt your feet, nice waves but not too big. Great drink selection and top shelf liquor, also they’ll serve you by pool or beach if you tip. All staff was kind and courteous, no one stood out more than the rest because they were all great. Nice secluded resort with enough activities to keep you entertained, but never overbearing or pushy. Evening entertainment was a bit of a let down..but the disco was available to dance if desired. I’d go back as it’s a short drive from the airport and secluded. Make sure you land at AZS not puerto plata All in all a great holiday.

Fantastic Resort - Will return
This was such an intimate resort. The grounds were well manicured, the public washroom were spotless and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. There was no pressure to make sure you had a "towel card" as there were lots of clean towels in the morning and you could take as many as you liked. The Fusion restaurant was our favourite and the service was first class. The beach was beautiful and the water was also very warm. When you first enter the water it dips down for a few steps but then it gets shallow right away. There were lots of games to play on the beach ie. darts, ping pong, bocce ball and adult musical chairs. We were a little disappointed with the content of the shows at night but we've travelled so many times to different resorts that it wasn't a priority for us. The rooms were clean and the showers in the washroom were fantastic. Lots of hot water!! The buffet was good but could have had a little more variety. You didn't have to reserve for the ala carte restaurants and you could go as many times as you liked. The staff at the reception were always ready to be helpful and very friendly. We can't wait to return. We loved it!!!!!

Where is the "wow"?
I've done some extensive travelling, and I consider myself to be a very easy-going, take-the-good-with-the-bad kind of person. This resort is the first time I've ever been unimpressed. First off, the positives - the grounds (especially the pool area) are gorgeous and very clean. The beach is stunning (although sand fleas are common). And for me...that's about it. Upon entering our room, my first impression was...blah. It's clean, which is great, and had a lovely view of the pool, but honestly, it was a very boring design. Just...blah. White walls, no paintings, wooden furniture, and that was about it. The food is horrendous. There are 3 restaurants on site, in addition to the buffet, and we tried 2 of them as I'm not a seafood lover. We left one of the restaurants after waiting an hour for watery, overcooked and unflavourful pasta, and just went to the buffet. The fusion restaurant is decent, but not good. The filet on the menu was possibly the most vile thing I've tried to eat. It seemed more like a super fatty and tough burger patty - I could barely cut it; the table next to us was shocked as well. The people seemed generally unhappy to be there. The beach bartenders were fantastic, and had great personalities, but most of the buffet staff were uninterested in helping. As an example, my friend ordered a cappuccino, to which the server replied, "Really? Are you sure you don't want a regular coffee?" We did always tip, but by the end of the week we were tipping specific servers rather than leaving the bills on our table. And finally...our excursion. We booked a private excursion with Joana (spelling?). The night before, we came to cancel since I was feeling quite ill - with the intention of re-booking (remember, it was a private excursion, so no other guests would be put out). Nobody was at the desk. My friend went down to cancel the next morning, but again, nobody was at the desk. Around noon, we approached Joana to both apologize and re-book, but were met with extreme condescension and rudeness - shaking her head at us, telling us how rude we were for making the taxi wait, etc. I felt like we were being treated like children. She did not offer any condolences ("how are you feeling?" etc) or the opportunity to re-book. So, we didn't go on an excursion at all. Such a disappointment. So, do I recommend this hotel? A resounding NO. Never. Go somewhere else. I just feel like...just be kind to people, you know? Be kind. This hotel...not kind. Avoid.

We always choose an all-inclusive / adults only resorts the week between X-Mas & New Years so we have a great party to attend! This one was no different; it was a great party! Great food; langouste / filet mignon & much much more at no extra cost. Very good (upgrade) Bubbly + dance floor at the pool, live music. The only thing missing was the fireworks like you get in Punta Cana. but that's it.. Points to improve; staff at lobby should be more knowledgeable /aware of what's happening in their resort. ie: New Year's Eve party - on the 30th NO Lobby Staff knew what kind of party it was going to be, where, how , start of festivities.....Finally on the morning of the 31st they put up a board with menus ...but that's it....huuummm! asked for activities & if the TV/Screen wasn't working no one knew or had the info ...you finally figure it out if you happen to pass by - good thing this resort isn't big! Aside from Lobby staff in need of being more in tuned with their facilities, everyone was pleasant, polite and respectful with smiles! p.s. I would recommend the Person in charge of room cleaning take time to check their staff work. EVERY DAY in our room either a glass was missing on dirty! if you have a coffee machine, it needs coffee & not 2 cups & 1 saucer ??? sometimes we had 1 face*towel & sometimes none. We asked for the patio screen to be fix 3 times - each time they came right away to fix it BUT never check what happens when you open the glass door!.......it didn't fit! and last, the cleaning lady NEVER broomed the patio - she would place the couch pillows but nothing else.... Doesn't need much for this resort to become a 5 star ! simply better follow-up with staff!

Beautiful resort
The grounds maintained very well. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food was good for me,but not all restorants was open every day.The front desk was very good to me ,everything I asked they got for me even Soya milk, which was very important for me and I am very grateful to them.Thank You amigos! The people that work in this resort very friendly and helpful. The only inconvenience was asking for water every time ,2 bottles per day not nearly enuff for me. And enother inconvenience the beach very small and no shade, not working for me absolutely,So I spand all time by the pool.

Love this place - even better 2nd time around!
The grounds are beautiful - rooms modern and clean - beach beautiful. Food is quite good - you can always find something delicious. We have gone two years in a row and it is HUMID. Expect to sweat. Love that there is no towel card, and you can always exchange for a fresh one. The vibe rooms are worth it.

Acceptable resort - not a real 4*
First impression is nice. The resort is small and easy to walk around. The grounds are well kept. The rooms are small but modern and clean. Mosquito nets are not available in all rooms. The food is good but there are less choices than other resorts are offering. The swimming pool is beautiful but it could use more sun umbrellas. Safety is compromised when raining, as the pavement becomes very slippery when wet. Sloped beach with strong waves. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed the evening concerts. During our stay there were a lot of mosquitoes and sand flies that have given us a lot of bites and restless nights. It would be nice and fair to provide some warning for the tourists when they arrive so that the ones who are sensitive can protect themselves better.

Nice small resort
My friends and I stayed a week at this resort. It is very small and no matter where you are you do not have more than a walk of a couple of minutes. The rooms are clean with nice showers however the pillows are awful and then beds are hard. The pool area is beautiful but small. They do have beds and igloos along with lounge chairs and a couple of umbrellas. If you want a bed or igloo you must get up at 6:30 to lay claim. Otherwise enjoy the scorching hot sun all day. It is the same situation down at the beach. Towels are not an issue and you can take as many as you like. The drinks are great - not watered down and many options. Food is fine. The buffet has decent choices for breakfast and lunch but it does not change much day to day. The coffee is awful. Service is good but you cannot get your own drinks and often you wait half your meal until you get a drink - even just water. There are 3 restaurants - Mediterranean, fusion and seafood. We did not like the seafood one except for the dessert. You do not need a reservation and can go as many times as you like. The food is much better than the buffet and you have 4-5 choices of appetizers, first, second courses and dessert. Most of the workers are extremely friendly, the grounds are immaculate and the entire effect is paradise.

Very nice place!
We were very happy with our stay here. Beautiful location! Resort very clean and beautifully decorated. Staff were amazing and so friendly! Mix of guests, most expecting quiet...some need to be friendlier and relax and have fun!!! Loved being on ground floor with patio and plunge pool. Food was very good, we do not agree with other complaints of food, as many options including the 3 a la carte restaurants. Air Canada was only complaint, issues travelling both ways and would seek out different airline next trip.

The worst resort I've been to
the reception area very small nothing but a long hallway . The staff in reception very oncoperative and rude you go and ask for change and they never have any or tell you to come back at at certain time and the same thing no change and they will not change canadian money. They have two public washrooms cleaned once a day not very clean and never having tissue. The buffet restaurant has very little choice in food and always cold. The rooms cleaned not before 4 and the shower never cleaned in the 2 weeks we were there. The first 3 days the fridge was never stocked and when we called there answer was it's not the cleaning that fill the fridge which was incorrect because it was the cleaning staff which we saw. The staff barely speak english you have a hard time communicating with them. It rained the whole time we were there my husband was covered in bug bites.

Loved this place!
We just returned from this zen paradise and are already planning a return visit. We have travelled extensively and been to many Caribbean islands and resorts and Viva Wyndham Samaná is in our top 3 experiences of all time. Being only 20mins from the Samaná Airport makes it even better, no long transfer after the long flight(s). Despite it being so wonderful I am unfortunately prone to bug bites - sand fleas/flies - whatever. I brought deet from home (Canada) - don’t bother - buy the stuff from the lobby shop (Deporte). It works. The beach, food and staff are all wonderful. Wifi is good throughout the resort but can drop at the beach. Rooms are basic, but comfortable. We booked a Vibe room which had a nice patio at ground level with 2 chairs and a lounge bed. Also had a small plunge pool that we never used. There is good water pressure in shower and the AC worked great. You get a 25% off voucher for the spa with booking the vibe rooms. I had a massage at the spa and the pressure was VERY firm, almost painful. I know I have a lot of knots in my back but I stated at least twice that I wanted a relaxing treatment. Unfortunately, it was not. The ocean is beautiful but can be quite rough some days. This makes for fun boogie boarding or fun watching waves - whatever your preference. Although we are from the East Coast of Canada and are used to a vigorous surf it was still pretty rough for us to swim a couple of days. We saw green, yellow, and red flags up during our 7 day visit. We walked on the beach in both directions for 20-30 mins. There are calmer waters for swimming to the right of the resort facing the ocean, and good snorkeling about 20 mins to the right, around the bend. We spent one afternoon at the pool and although we are not “pool people†it was pretty nice. A very chill vibe with cocktail service as well. Memorable staff include Santo at the beach restaurant, Yinginfyns (sp?), Victor, Yvonne, and Sammy at the beach bar, Jordan, Choolate and Carlos from the entertainment crew, Carlos at the breakfast omelette station, all breakfast servers, Juan and Marisela at Fusion, and housekeeping was excellent. I can’t remember all the names of the staff but everyone was so helpful and friendly. Please, please, TIP for the amazing service the crew at this resort provides. They deserve it!! Bring small bills from home as it isn’t easy to get change once you’re there. There are 3 a la carte restaurants. The ones that are open each eve are posted on a sign at the Guest Services desk in the lobby. Some yummy dishes we had at the restaurants include the minestrone soup, seafood risotto, chicken entree with apples, and tiramisu at the Mediterranean. The spring roll and chow mein appetizers, plus the salmon and chicken entrees at Fusion. Carlos makes amazing omelettes at breakfast and the fresh fruit is delicious - papaya especially. The pizza and the fried chicken for lunch at the beach restaurant were awesome and they will make a pizza with your preferred toppings if you ask. We did not visit the seafood a la carte restaurant. For drinks - Caipirinhas are to die for and the pina coladas, melon balls and Cuba libres are also tasty. The white wine is horrible (IMO) but I must admit I am a bit of a wine snob. I do prefer white over red at home. At this resort, however, I drank the house red with dinner since it was much better than the white. I’m not sure if they change up the house wines or not but while we were there the brand was “Joyeux†something. Friday night entertainment in the lobby is fun. Starts off with a local jazz entertainer then proceeds into a bit of a dance fiesta with the recreation crew. It’s white night on Fridays so bring something white to wear. We didn’t realize this til we were there. Overall we would have no hesitation recommending this resort for a peaceful, adults only getaway. Please remember to tip the hard working staff.

Cozy resort on great beach location
This is a small adults only resort located on amazing beach. Rooms and grounds are immaculate. Every room has a view. The buffet restaurant has limited options but they are fresh and well prepared. The a la carte restaurants lack sophistication, however all food was well prepared, they lacked finesse. Vibe rooms with plunge pools are fantastic. The additional terrace space includes a lounge where you can relax on return from the beach, or enjoy after dinner drinks while still listening to evening entertainment from the plaza. As my vibe room was not available on my first night, the resort offered a free massage as compensation in their intimate spa. Spa experience was excellent and professional. Overall, an intimate resort for total relaxation.

If you want peace and quiet with little crowds....
Viva Wyndham Samana is the resort for you. Only 144 rooms. Everything within walking distance. Beautiful beaches, clean property. Basic but clean rooms. Main floor rooms have a small 'pool' included, worth the extra. They have a few activities, but not the place to go for nightlife, or shows. Food is alright but not outstanding. Staff is friendly. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, read, or walk the beach without the rush of having to get up at dawn to get a prime spot on the beach, this is a good resort to choose. We would go back again.

Would go back in a heart beat
Cant say enough about this small, quiet relaxing resort. Rooms were clean with a great bathroom. Bright clean shower, with lots of hot water and pressure. Even with plenty food in tolerances I never went hungry. Only issues with food is never hot enough temperature wise. Staff were warm and friendly. Grounds were immaculate. No shortage of beds, loungers or chairs. Loved the hammocks down by the beach. Loved the fact it was small and quaint. Loved the peacefulness of it all. No loud parties or drunks. Everyone was there to have a good time and relax. Will go back for sure.

Viva Wyndham
The grounds were immaculate at all times.Never once heard a leaf blower, all raking was done manually. Tile pathways around pool and other area's were very slippery with even the slightest amount of water. outdoor beds tended to be damp most of the time, sheets were not changed after overnight rain. Towels frequently in short supply Beach area was very clean waiters at the beach only came around if you tipped them ( we learned that pretty fast). Re: WestJet: On our return trip, there was no information send to us regarding boarding passes. I was shocked that they would have my girlfriend and I sitting 12 rows apart, there were around 8 empty seats on the plane, they could and should have done better, a real disappointment, especially since I picked this resort because of WestJet, I did not want to fly with AirTransat because of their resent incidents of having people sitting on planes forever, and I did not pick AC because of their louse connections and airport layovers. I ended up buying plus seats, which were a good choice, but it was not part of the plan

Second time better than the first!
This is a small adults only resort directly on Coson beach. This was our second visit within a year and we were very impressed that many of the staff remembered us. No reservations are required for any of the a la carted (3), free wifi throughout the resort as well as being able to change towels whenever you like. Food and drinks are top notch. The beach is beautiful and you can walk for miles in either way. We are already planning our third trip for next summer!

Enjoyed our vacation
The resort is lovely. We chose it for its being adults-only and small--144 rooms. Also, it's about 20 minutes by bus through gorgeous hills and views of the ocean to arrive from the Samana airport. The room was on the small side but clean and attractive. Daily the fridge was re-stocked with pop, Presidente, and water. The bathroom had been updated and was pleasing with the glass shower stall. Our king-size bed was comfy. On the balcony were two wicker chairs with cushions. I think most of the rooms would have a sea-view. We certainly did from our room in Building B, which is behind the buffet. Food was just satisfactory even in the ala cartes. This was quite a let-down. The wine and 'champagne' were dreadful. Beach towels were plentiful. The beach had sun loungers pulled up to near the shore so people were very close to one another. However, many people didn't mind being behind, and some even moved their sun beds to the grassy area. No palapas are present, which is sort of problematic since everyone has to move their beds to stay either in the sun or shade from the palm trees. Hence, the over-crowding. The pool was only four feet deep but was nice. A few Bali beds there are reserved early by people. We had a good time but it just isn't the resort for us. I must commend Kim Hartlen, our travel agent from Bedford, NS for being just fantastic! She is a total professional with a friendly touch. Despite my having to ask her some simple questions over the course of a few weeks, she was always polite and patient with me. We already have our next trip booked through her! 😀

Wonderful vacation
The viva wyndham Samana is a smaller resort which is exactly what we wanted. It has been beautifully restored. The grounds are well kept and lush. The rooms have plenty of space and storage all have some kind of view of the ocean. The bathrooms look great but are narrow. The showers are very good which to me is important especially after time in the ocean. The beach is great for walking in either direction lots of privacy lots of beautiful homes to look at . The food is good there. There was some items that were very good others not so much.. after a couple days you find what you like best.. you certainly won't starve. They are generous with the drinks they have top shelf liquor and a decent white wine.the service in the restaurants runs from good to awesome. The man who runs the smaller lunch area the turns into the Mediterranean restaurant in the evening is fantastic. He really helped to make your time there a wonderful experience. Look for Santos! I would definitely recommend this place to people who want a relaxing friendly personalized experience. It is the type of place where you can do as little or as much as you want!

Wonderful, relaxing stay
This small resort is for couples that enjoy a quiet, off the beaten path experience for complete relaxation. The staff was attentive and available to accomodate for almost every detail. The rooms are smaller but updated with clean bathrooms, large screen TV's and modern decor. We were able to enjoy free wifi almost anywhere, including the beach! The beach was great for walking but the ocean was wavy our entire time there. For those who may be uncertain swimmers or require a gentle entry from the beach for mobility, this may not be the ideal location for you to enjoy ocean swimming, you may choose to enjoy the beautiful pool area instead. The food in the buffet and all 3 ala carte's was a pleasant surprise. The head chef from Viva Wyndham Resorts was there at the time and the quality of the food was excellent considering some of the earlier reviews we had read before we went. The Viva Wyndham V Samana was an excellent resort vacation and would highly recommend to couples who want to get away from it all!

Will Definitely Go Back!
This is the first resort my husband and I have visited that we can't wait to go back to. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Viva Wyndham Samana - it is kept spotlessly clean inside and out, perfectly laid out with a view of the ocean no matter where you are, delicious food, fun and friendly staff and a beautiful beach. The rooms are not large, but are all you need with a lovely shower that was always hot with lots of water, the pool is gorgeous with so many places to tuck away and relax, no issues finding a lounge whenever or wherever we wanted one and even they are scrubbed daily. The staff always had something going on in the evenings - beach party, stage show, bingo ... it's not a big resort, so mostly low-key, but lots of fun. We traveled with another couple and can't wait to go back next year with more friends.
