This is a lovely hotel which is not too busy. We easily found loungers either by the pool or on the beach. The staff are all super nice and the room very clean. We had a wonderful day and would highly recommend.

The staff at this resort are amazing!!!! I cannot say enough good things about the staff. The food is very good as well and having 24 room service and a coffee shop with sandwiches and ice cream was amazing. The resort itself is very nice, with nice rooms. The negatives for me... 1. There was no nighttime entertainment. 2. The bar tenders basically rinsed the bar cups and sent them back out for use. I got a many dirty cups with lipstick marks, floating, etc. I ended up using my own cup as I got very sick with diarrhea for 24 hours. But the location is close to the airport, with wonderful lounge areas and hard working staff!!!

Resort was beyond beautiful but it was not typical 5 starts hotel. Few issues that other should be aware. First of all it's rocky beach and you can't swim. 2nd we stayed in third tower only one elevator worked. 3rd rooms most of the days were cleaned pretty late. I will definitely go back. I really enjoyed it.

Resort was great however our room was extremely loud from traffic. The food was good but additional restaurant or two would be great for more a la cart choices. The pool was not large but nice however better access for guests with limitations to get in and out of the pool would be advantageous. We had a very late arrival on our first day so we didn’t get to take advantage of the facilities that day at all. We also had a late flight departure on our last day and had to pay a minimal fee to use the facilities for our remaining time at the resort. Our check out was at noon so a late check out or a place to shower, clean up, and change would have been great. That way we could have enjoyed the remaining day using the facilities (pool and beach). The staff did store our luggage for us which was very helpful. The resort was immaculate and the staff were amazing! They catered to our every want and need. The restaurants that were available were great. The Asian restaurant, in particular, was absolutely wonderful and the servers were awesome. The resort grounds were the perfect size and we never felt crowded. The evening entertainment was also very enjoyable and fun.

This is a very small resort, things are close. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool area is small and the beach was super wavy but beautiful. Limited options for dinner; only 2 restaurants in addition to the buffet. Food was good, the Asian restaurant was great! Entertainment in the bar lounge was good and the coffee bar was awesome. Traffic was very loud from the room that faced the lagoon. Had to pay an extra environmental fee 42 USD.

It’s a small resort. The buffet restaurant surprisingly so. The reviews about the food are accurate. The buffet is on par with Cuba. The a la cartes are not bad The beach is very nice. Not a lot of seaweed if any. Pool area is very small and the resort does t have enough loungers. They were all gone by 8 am. Rooms are dated. We had the Inspira. It’s not worth it. Top shelf booze is $50 a day more. Area of the beach for Inspira guests is too small. No other perks really. Some small discounts on the Bali beds. We had robes the first day in our room but then they disappeared. No slippers. No chairs on our balcony. Resort seems understaffed. One day our room wasn’t tidied until 4 pm. We had a good time as it was March Break and it was affordable. For the price point next time I would choose the NYX.

This place is amazing. The restaurants are all great with a huge selection of food, there is something for everyone. All the staff are amazing & go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect during your stay. I highly recommend the Oleo to anyone looking for a great destination experience.

The Oleo Cancun Playa was the perfect spot for our group of 14 to spend a week together. Beds were cleaned and comfortable. Rooms spacious with enough closet and drawer space for two of us easily. The bathroom shower door did not hold the water I. So we had water 9n the floor after each shower. Rooms were cleaned well each day we asked. The food was good at all the eating areas and I did not tire of the buffet as I have at previous resorts visited. We actually ate at the Mediterranean restaurant 3 evenings as we enjoyed it so much. The service was great here as well. The service at the Asian restaurant was not as good, but I enjoyed my meal there as well. Each day I visited the coffee bar and always had great service with a smile. The poolside activities were lots of fun and different every day. This area was lots of fun as well as clean and easily accessible. The evening entertainment was simple but fun and the young people leading the activities day and evening were very personable and really good at there jobs. Thank you. I would for sure recommend this resort to anyone.

PROS: Liked the attitude of people running the place. Everyone, from reception to housekeeping, were very accommodating, very polite and did their best to try to make you comfortable. The grounds appeared to be well taken care of. Not too much lush but plenty to make view pretty. I noticed constant attention to details for hotel upkeep ( cleaning, ornamenting, repainting, etc.) Rooms were comfortable and clean though, some of them, like our first room (we were given new one later) needed some new furniture pieces, such as the sofa couch which looked so old, it appeared dirty and overused. Also, and as it is expected due to most usage, the washrooms on both rooms we were in had some faulty issues such as leakage or doors not closing properly. The decor of the rooms was practical, to the point, clean-looking and thus, pretty. Some rooms have stunning view of either the ocean or the lagoon, especially if you are given room above 2nd or 3rd floors. We had an issue with an elevator which was immediately taken care of and the hotel staff tried in all ways possible to compensate for such issue. They were very responsive and attentive to our needs. The food was superb! The dining space always looked impeccable and tidy. The attention, very good. Never upset stomach issues like in our previous stays in different huge 5 star hotels in that same area. It would appear that the fact Oleo is a much smaller site, its staff do actually invest more time in looking after their guests as best as possible. Issues or concerns brought up by guests are, therefore, taken and corrected in a timely fashion. CONS: Travelers are already EXHAUSTED by the time they get to Oleo Reception, yet, they are made to go through x2 or x3 different people right at Reception and spend 40 minutes or more of questioning guests to the point of making them regret their decision to be there in the first place. The idea is to push you to attend a breakfast session to listen to what is no longer called SHARES, but something else, advising you it's not the same but,....it is. Most people will agree to go to these types of sessions as they also promote a discount on area tours such as the cenotes, Xcaret, etc. BTW, this is not specific or exclusive of Oleo Resort. Mexico is known for these type of vacation sales promotions. Tours are much more expensive than previous to the pandemic if you want to get them at the hotel.

The hotel was always being cleaned and well maintained. The standard room was not as pretty as the feature photos, that was a let down. The 2 towels per day were old and needed To be refreshed. The food was good, but limited in options. The beach was amazing, the staff was always kind and courteous. Overall we enjoyed our holiday.

We stayed at this resort just before the COVID-19 pandemic and really enjoyed our time there, between the entertainment staff, the general bartenders and servers, and house keeping we always felt welcomed and taken care of during our stay. The food and nightly events always made for a fun evening in. This time however was a bit different. The staff were still as friendly as ever (I was glad to see that most of the staff I remembered were still employed) however the resort itself seems to have lost something. We were on the 1st floor and while the room was very large it had a shared door so we could hear our neighbour's throughout the day/night. We also had a couple rowdy guests on our floor across the hall who would slam their door or shout at each other waking us up multiple times each night. I don't hold this against the resort, but it didn't make our days any better. House keeping did a great job in keeping everything clean and were very pleasant to chat with. Our room had two air conditioners with two distinct controls so we had to program both when we first arrived. When they would start up it would sound like a truck rumbling down the street or a very old air compressor was turning over. The hotel itself seemed to have hot water issues during our stay as the shower would only get lukewarm, when maintenance was called to look at it the individual told us that we would just have to run the water for 10+ minutes for it to heat up. The hotel also did have some drainage/leakage issues during one of the stronger rain storms as the ceiling near the lobby bar (tower 2) had to be taken down and cordoned off with large buckets. The food quality was definitely less than we remembered, due to the amount of oil, fat, and cheese used in the cooking I got sick a couple times. The kitchen was more than happy to take a "special request" for me so I could have just a plate of plain boiled vegetables or chicken/beef pan fried without extra oils. We went to the Sushi restaurant only once as it was unappealing, the food wasn't necessarily bad but it wasn't good. The Italian restaurant had some very good dishes but the entire meal was never all pluses, we would have a poor 2nd course and a great main course or a overcooked dessert. The buffet was generally okay with a decent assortment of fresh fruit each morning, a couple different dishes between lunch and dinner. If you want variety in your meals I would suggest trying one of the restaurants across the street as they are decently priced and provide a change of pace against the buffet. We had a day trip to Chichen Itza and the hotel was more than happy to provide us a packed meal and an early breakfast in the room so we could start the day right and make sure we had food and water for the trek. Generally speaking if you want a smaller boutique hotel with friendly service and a quiet beach and don't care about the food or rooms than this is the place for you. If you are looking for a little bit more out of your resort, this may not be the best place. we had a good time at this resort but we will probably not be going back in the near future

Rooms very nice and clean, all of the staff was very helpful, excellent and tasty food at the Azul restaurant also at el Botanero and El Mar, good selection of drinks and wines. Thanks to all the staff that made our stay at the Oleo, very pleasant.

Oleo is sleek, sophisticated, relaxing, and quiet. If you want boutique, adult oriented, friendly, and clean- a safe place to relax with good unlimited food and drinks, you should consider Oleo. I stayed for 8 days in late May, 2018 with my teenaged daughter. POSITIVES: - The food overall. The breakfast buffet, Mediterranean restaurant, and Japanese reservation only dinner restaurant were all great with a decent selection whether you are a meat-eater or vegetarian. I have diet restrictions and preferred the Azul buffet restaurant as I could create my own plates and the chef was able to cook me fillets of fish with no oil fresh on the grill. We experienced no abnormal stomach issues while at Oleo. I didn't drink much but the couple of glasses of wine I had during my stay were decent. The red wine was chilled which I found refreshing. - I had a positive interaction with all of the staff members I spoke to during my 8 day vacation. From the cleaning staff, to the front desk personnel, the waiters and cooks, everyone is polite, attentive, and happy to help you out. - The room is spotless, airy, and if you are lucky enough to upgrade to an ocean view room, the views are breathtaking. We upgraded at the resort during check in. The bed and linens were clean and comfy. The bed was firm but not in a bad way with tons of pillows. Your mini fridge will be re-stocked daily with cans of pop (Sprite, Coca Cola, Fresca), a couple of beers, and Cristal water bottles. No mini bar or hard alcohol FYI. - Poolside & beachside service means that you can get snacks (burgers, fries, tacos, guac & chips, etc) and drinks brought to you while you relax. You can also walk up to the poolside seating area to sit and eat if you'd like. - There is a BestDay travel agency booth in the resort and they are super helpful with booking you excursions. I ended up purchasing 2 adult tickets for Chichen Itza, Aventura Park/Dolphinaris, and Tulum including lunch and transportation. I did tons of research and was confident that I got the best price possible from a reputable excursion company. Bring a lightweight day pack for your excursions. You can leave it on the bus and as you will need your bathing suit, towel, sandals, hat, sun screen, etc. - The resort Wi-Fi was good and easy to connect to. - There were NO MOSQUITOS on the resort during our stay. During our trip to Tulum we got swarmed and bitten quite a few times but both my daughter and I never wore bug spray at Oleo and had no issues. - Although the water from the shower and sink was non-drinkable, it had no funky smell and was ample and hot. Unlimited Cristal bottled water could be found anywhere and was safe. Tastes similar to Dasani when refrigerated. I used ice in my drinks and had no issues with that either. I inquired and it's brought in, in bags from a treatment facility. - Through reviews it's apparent that you can (and it's suggested to) bring $1 USD bills to tip, it's never asked of by the resort workers and you are not treated any differently whether you tip or not. I tipped some of my favourite employees by choice but never felt pressured to do so. In fact, you will feel more pressured to tip everywhere outside of Oleo, tour bus guides, at the airport, etc. A FEW FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: - A/C was room controlled and worked perfectly but our clothes could never dry fully in the room. The humidity and moisture cannot be escaped when you are that close to the ocean. Expect your bags to come home heavier then when you left and leave some space so you don't max out your weight restrictions. - There will be a few people with children at Oleo. I personally don't recommend bringing kids under the age of 13 to this adult oriented resort. There are very few kid activities to keep your child entertained and scantily clad adults relaxing and enjoying their vacation. This is Oleo's target guest and unless you have a more mature child that's into sand, sun, and chilling then this place is not recommended for kids. - You will encounter vendors trying to sell you various things on the beach. They are not aggressive and a simple "no gracias" kept them at bay. - The beach was full of waves and red flags every day of our vacay. We still stayed within the shallow (waist high) water and had fun in the waves. Lifeguards were present and kept an eye on everyone. The day after a big evening thunderstorm, the beach and water was full of seaweed. You may encounter this if you come during hurricane season. It dwindled down and we swam in the ocean again about 30 hours after the storm. - While there are very few animals or pests on the grounds, there are lots of black crow like birds. When you finish your outdoor meal, you need to cover your plate up immediately or they will swoop in to finish up your scraps. All three of the dining restaurants are completely enclosed and air conditioned so if you are not fond of birds, you can easily avoid this! - The resort is located very close to the airport, at the very bottom of the hotel zone. This means you will be the first or last stop for most things. Keep this in mind for airport transfers, excursion pickup / drop offs, and taxi's to town. Arriving to the hotel we were the first ones dropped off of our shuttle. Going to Chichen Itza and Tulum we were the first picked up (nice because you could choose your preferred seat on the bus) but the last dropped off. Going to Aventura park/Dolphinaris, on the free shuttle was a super short ride as Oleo is the last stop before the park. Also the first stop going home. If we had gone into town, the taxi ride would be longer and probably more expensive then most hotels as it's further away. OVERALL: Oleo Cancun Playa is a solid adults oriented resort and I'm glad I booked through tripcentral. My rep, Melanie Johnston was super helpful and made sure that I got the lowest price (cheaper than if I booked the hotel and airfare separately) and provided me with all documents necessary for my trip. She was available via phone or email for any questions I had and followed up via both phone and email to ensure I was set and prepared for my trip. If I go to Cancun in the future, I will definitely look into staying at Oleo again and will definitely book through tripcentral.

The resort has so much to offer to couples looking to have a relaxing time away from everyday life. Top notch servers are there to bring you drinks and food whether you are poolside or on the beach. Shade can be found under beach tents and pool umbrellas. There is low key respectful entertainment and the restaurants have something to offer everyone. If you must keep yourself plugged in to the real world, the free WiFi is excellent throughout the resort. Although not much of a resort for kids, you will surely find couples relaxing here ... keeping it real. ❤️

OLEO is a beautiful boutique hotel that is ideal for the 30+ age group. It is located approximately 15 min from the airport on the hotel strip. It is only a short bus ride to the mall and even Market 28 is manageable by bus. The beach front and view are amazing! I would highly recommend the OLEO for a relaxing vacation!

My mom and I stayed at this resort from Feb 18th - Feb 25th 2018. We we're really happy we chose this resort as it is smaller than most resorts in the Cancun area. We both felt very at home at this resort and we will certainly be going back, the renovations are almost fully complete so do not let them discourage you!! I think it will be impeccable when they are finished. The Resort was VERY clean and modern looking throughout! We had a superior sunset view of the ocean and lagoon which was wonderful, although you could occasionally hear traffic. The rooms were beautiful, very modern and clean. The beach was perfect, I am glad that they have lifeguards on duty for swimmers. Seaweed usually gets cleaned up daily. I suggest going down to the beach early in the morning to save yourself a lawn chair and a tent, staff can help you arrange chairs and tents! The pool was also nice and kept very clean. Food/Drink : Azul (buffet) was very good, lots of American and Mexican food choices and were very well prepared. They had something for everyone, and some dishes would change day to day. The Almar restaurant (Mediterranean) was just ok, presentation was nice, service was just fair, food was good but not amazing. The Hakka restaurant (Oriental) was good, a small selection but it was good, and the service was great. There is also a canteen style restaurant by the pool; you can order your food from the beach and they bring it over to you! Both bars (pool and lobby) had great drinks and service!! The only suggestion I have for the lobby bar is to have the lobby lights dimmed in that area in the evenings. We found it almost too bright so the ambiance wasn't as relaxing. Activities: This resort offers daily activities such as fitness classes, competitions on the beach or in the pool, games, art work, evening activities and entertainment which were fun to include. The resort gym was better than I had expected it to be; it included dumbbells up to 50 lbs, a couple different benches (flat, decline, military), treadmills, ellipticals, a bike, a leg extension machine, a hamstring curl machine, and a double set of cables that are height adjustable and interchangeable. The only suggestion I have for the gym would be to add a couple more attachments for the cables (Ex. a smaller straight bar and a rope would be a big improvement) - overall a modern and clean gym for a decent quick workout. There is also a tennis court with a basketball hoop if you wish to play! Service: AMAZING service all around! From the moment we stepped foot in the door, Santiago had made my mom and I feel so at home and safe as it was our first time traveling to Cancun and didn't know what to expect. Santiago is very sweet and trustworthy

Awesome vacations. What made this resort so wonderful was all the amazing staff. Rooms are so beautiful and well maintained. The resort is considered as a boutique hotel more than a resort. It offers an amazing service and quality amenities. The hotel is still undergoing remodeling new lobby under construction but hardly hear them. The beach is lovely. The staff work very hard every morning to get you set up with chairs and a tent. The wait staff comes around all day to serve you drinks, water, food and so polite and friendly. During the day entertainment staff offer pool volley ball, beach volley ball, Taichi in the morning on the beach and aerobics every second day on the beach also. They also offer free kayaking to a near location you need to take the bus for 12 Pesos ( 1$ US). I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to stay at a smaller resort with personalized, friendly service. 5 stars all the way! Each night in the lobby from 8:30 to 9:30 pm there is entertainment like karaoke night, frank Sinatra night, Mariachi band, movie night etc. After 9:30 pm the resort does not offer after hour dance or other entertainment which we would of liked. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation with exceptional food in all dining areas this is the place for you. We personally loved the Almar restaurant which serve high quality meals like in luxurious restaurants and was able to go every night upon reservation. The food is out of this world. The Oleo Cancun Playais a smaller almost boutique hotel. They are building a new lobby but the construction was noise was minimal at best. The room was exactly as depicted on their website. It was stylish, clean and spacious. Your resort bracelet is your room key. No need to worry about cards. A/C stays on in your room all day if wanted and no towel card required. There are currently 2 a la carte restaurants, and one buffet. Although the selection isn't large at the buffet, we always found something tasty to eat. We only ate at the AlMar a la carte. It was unlimited, meaning you could opt to eat there every night. No restrictions to 3 a la cartes and wearing long pants for men was optional and no reservations required. The spa and gym are small but well appointed. On the beach there are tent like structures for shade and waiter service which not only brought you drinks, but would provide you with food as well. The staff are the friendliest I have found in all my 24 yrs. of visiting Cancun. If you don't see what you need, just ask. They will only be too happy to provide you with what you need. There was nightly entertainment. It was mostly restricted to the lobby area except for the outdoor circus night. They had a live band by the pool on Sunday. I'm sure once the new lobby area opens, there will be a better space to enjoy the entertainment. All in all, I really enjoyed my time at the Oleo. I would definately return and/or recommend this resort to others.

We have been staying here for around 15 years. The renovations and additions add so much to the resort. The spa and gym are great additions and the usual terrific access to the beach keeps us coming back. Over the years the staff have proven to be always among the most friendly, helpful and caring we have ever encountered in all our travels. The food was more fresh and tastier than the large luxury resorts and we look forward to the completion of the other restaurants as planned. Hopefully the elevators will be more reliable as the renovations near completion. We'll be back!

Located in a quiet area. Easy to access from the airport and downtown. Staffs are very friendly. Unfortunately the hotel accepts only US dollars as currency exchange. Canadian dollar is not accepted. Lack of entertainments and activities.
