We loved our week at Secrets Tides Punta Cana. The resort was so clean and well kept. Staff was professional, attentive, happy to help and plentiful. You could always find someone to assist you if needed. Drinks were served in glasses and were of great quality - bars were never far away. Our room - a swim out with butler service was beautiful appointed and had multiple lighting options throughout the room and bluetooth speakers in the ceiling that we could play our own music from. Room Service delivered on time and were accurate and hot upon delivery. Our butler was named Milcaides (Micky) and he was fabulous. He was a terrific help to my partner who planned a wedding proposal while we were there. Micky played a big part in helping to make it a very memorable occasion for us. He was so attentive, personable and genuinely wanting our stay to be the best possible. The entertainment was good - lots of activities throughout the day to participate in. Evening live entertainment and then shows. We didn't stay for any of the shows, but they looked to be well presented in a very nice theatre area with plenty of seating. This was not a "party" resort. There was a DJ who played music throughout the day, but it wasn't crazy loud or obnoxious. Evening parties/shows ended by 11, with people being able to stay up and enjoy the lobby bar later into the evening if they chose. Restaurants were decorated very nicely, food was delicious and menus had lots of options at every restaurant. We were extremely pleased with the whole vacation. Knowing we set the bar quite high after this trip for future vacations to measure up to. It was a romantic, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed vacation in the DR. Don't hesitate to book it!

Had amazing service from the people. So sweet and so caring when it comes to service. Only issue with the hotel is the buffet food was not that great and the water shutting off. Other then that amazing hotel and amazing people who work in the hotel

The minute i arrived i told the clerk at the check-in counter that we were celebrating getting engaged and he proposed upgrading to sunclub for a unique VIP trip. I took the opportunity and i did not regret it one second. The high end booze and private pool/beach were AMAZING plus they gave us a room oceanview with a jaccuzi in the room. Will definetely reccomend and probably will be my choice in DR from now on !

I would not advise Canadians to go to this resort, besides the seweed on the beach that they cannot do anything about , they will not take our Canadian dollar and there is nowhere to exchange it at the resort, the one bank machine they have will not accept Canadian cards because it does not have interact plus.

Grounds beautiful, pools good, beaches are always clean, food average, good service was not consistent and no reservations at Al a carte painful for waiting. Upgrading to VIP at sun Club is a BIG JOKE and nowhere worth the money! Even though it’s not a resort we would go back to and things we didn’t like it was a great vacation. Nathaniel and Juan were excellent around the pool and very hard working. We met great guests, fantastic weather and had lots of fun and laughs!

We just got back Sunday night from a 7 day vacation at the Sunscape Dominican Beach Resort. The resort itself is very lovely and clean with nice clean pools and maintained landscape. I will break down my review in groups; Arrival - approx. 25 mins from airport and well greeted upon arrival with a nice drink and check in was fast and easy, though they pass you off to chat with your concierge and ours happen to be Alberto. A very nice guy, offered us a welcome breakfast for next morning. Though I knew what this was all about (timeshare), he assured us it wasn't. We were with another couple and we all decided 90 mins of our time was worth getting a $100 leisure cash coupon each couple to use anywhere in the resort that we liked. Well 1st the 90 mins turned into 3 hrs as they really don't take no for an answer until you somehow have to be a little abrupt and the special welcome breakfast was in the SunClub lounge. All I can say is thank goodness we didn't upgrade to SunClub as the breakfast was not at all an upgrade but a downgrade in my opinion. SunClub - they asked if we wanted to upgrade at time of checking for $40 US per night per room $280, when we said it was too much they reduced it to $250, we still declined. Through the week we realized it definitely was not worth it, the only real perk was the premium drinks but then if you ventured away from the SunClub areas you couldn't get the premium drinks anyway. Rooms - our room was in Bungalow 24 lower level pool view. We had a corner room which was spacious, very clean, nice big king size bed and comfortable, with rain shower step in. We had plenty of big bath towels, hand towels etc. They even provide full size shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion and the blow drier was great. The room was always cleaned in the morning and our bar fridge was always stocked daily with water, pop and beer. There is ample drawers and closet for clothes. Great location as it was close to everything. Food - the food was for the most part ok but in the buffets it was repetitive. Breakfast is great, the usual egg stations, pancakes and French toast, all kinds of muffins, pasteries, cereals etc. and then your standard items of bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, etc. Plenty of fresh fruit which was my favourite part. They also make smoothies or fresh squeezed juices right there. Lunch you had several options and were good but again repetitive. Dinners in the buffet were good plenty of choices from pasta station, grill with plenty of fish, chicken, pork and beef. but there beef is a bit tough. They had a pizzeria which was pretty good. The al l carte restaurants, well that is a joke cause they advertise "no reservation" but then you have to stand in line approx. 5-5:30 at the restaurant of your choice that evening and reserve a time and seat. In my books that is making reservations. We understand that Chopstix (our favourite) that you needed to reserve since only 10people can sit at each station for one seating. We stood in line for 45 mins for the Italian restaurant, Da Mario, just to be told when we got to the front that they were booked. We complained to management and they managed to get us a table that same night and there were quite a few empty tables in the restaurant. Being Italian the food was so so, wouldn't venture it again. My husband ordered the lamb chops and they were chewy, rubbery. The Olive Branch, was not much better. We went back to Chopstix a 2nd time since that was our favourite by far. We used our $100 LC for a lobster dinner at Le Lago which is an extra charge of $39.99 US/person which includes a full lobster dinner with your choice of wine and dessert. Not worth the $39.99 but since we didn't have to pay it was ok. Coco Café was our go to for coffee. Drinks - the resort advertises "domestic and international drinks", this is not the case, it's all domestic unless you upgrade to SunClub. My husband was not pleased about this, in other resorts international drinks meant you got some other choices from other countries, not necessarily premium but better than the domestic fire water. Plenty of bars and great pool service. Beach - 1st 3 days was red flagged, very rough waves but better after that. They do have barriers which can be an eye sore but they are put there to help with the errotion. Further up the beach either way is better. We love walking the beach which was fine. Plenty of beach chairs at the beach and by the pool areas, never an issue. We never had an issue with beach towels either, though near the end of the day around 5:00pm or so was when there were no more. Staff - We never encountered anyone who wasn't cheerful, friendly and helpful. They were great. Special thanks to the gentleman who cleaned our room, Yiemy who was wonderful in the buffet and and another wonderful woman in the lunch buffet by the beach but can't remember her name. But everyone was great. Entertainment - We caught only a couple of shows and if you get the chance to catch the "Circus of Dreams" you have to go, it was amazing. There are plenty of seats in the theater but you can see it from almost anywhere around the main lobby (Sunscape Bavaro) and after the show, just outside of the theater they have a DJ and some rockn' music. All in all we had a great time, great weather, just a few things I would change as mentioned above, but I really believe you get what you pay for and we did pay a low price for this week, so will I go back, probably not. I'd say it was comparable to Cuba but Cuba has much nicer beaches.

We loved this resort. It was very clean. Eveything was close to eachother. A 5 minute walk at the most. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The rooms were great. The restaurants were great, especially the Japanese and loved the fresh pizza at lunch. They also stay open till the middle of the night. There were some game on the beach during the day and at the pool that are fun. Also the shows at night were good. They normally had live music at the lobby that was great. The disco was slow but on the weekend it is full of locals and only play thier music. We would recommend this place to a friend and would love go back again.

After reading a few of the reviews I did not know what to expect Now after staying there for two weeks I have very little negative to say. The staff was great, rooms were clean and done every day ( and yes a couple of times they were late ) . Food was good at buffet and a la carts. The beach was ok, sea weed was a problem and they tried hard to keep it under control . The best thing to do is to make your own opinion about the resort.

Tout était parfait! la seul chose que nous n'avons pas aimé c'est l'accueil 2 heures avant d'avoir notre chambre parce qu'il essayait de nous faire payer du surplus pour nous placer dans une chambre exécutive (VIP), tout c'est bien terminé sans payer de frais supplémentaire.

the hotel was clean, staff very friendly, eager to make you happy except one bartender (male) at flip flops. seems like a smile would have killed him. it was a battle to find pool chairs on a daily basis, the beach was too windy to sit at so everyone at pools. some of the staff were willing and able to help find chairs for you , others laughed at the request and kept walking. rooms clean, maid service exceptional . you are greeted as soon as you check in by your "personal concierge" who will help you with anything you need and is there for you .... until you say no to buying a timeshare (they insist it is not a time share but we sat through a presentation and it is!). as soon as we said we would not be buying in, our personal conceirge was suddenly unavailable.. for any reason. timeshare salespeople and managers abruptly stood up and stormed out of the conversation. entertainment staff were fabulous! great nicknames too! food was good. on buffet lukewarm unless you were at the grills.... a la cartes good food but be first ones there on opening or last ones there. expect at least an hour wait in between those times to be seated as there is a no reservation policy for a la carte. they may want to revisit that policy. we would stay here again though, knowing what we know now. 1. pushy time share people to be ignored. 2. get pool chairs by 630am. 3. dont go to a la cartes already hungry.

Very nice And good but the beach is not...Excellent food And staff.....I recommend this resort not for the beach but for the service,staff And food.....And also it s neer the airport. ................

We just returned from the Sunscape Dominican Beach Resort, Punta Cana. We stayed from February 14, 2017 to February 21, 2017. We have NO complaints about the resort. Check-in was a little slow, but other than that, the week was wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and kept immaculate. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The bathrooms were modern with big walk-in showers with rain shower faucets. We never seen one bug the entire week - no ants, no cockroaches, nothing. There were a few mosquitos, but that's normal and bug spray kept them at bay. There was always a big variety at the buffet restaurant(s) and easy to get snacks or a quick lunch - the pizza shop and burgers and hotdogs on the beach were great. We also ate at the grill by the pool some days for lunch. The beach has eroded some from the storms. but nothing major to stop you from enjoying the water. The ocean was warm and if you walked a little to the left or to the right of the main area of the beach, the beach was flat and beautiful. The staff were friendly and service was great. We always enjoyed our cappuccino in the Coco Café after dinner that also offered some very yummy deserts. Our rooms were kept very clean and the bar fridge stocked daily. Would definitely recommend this resort and will definitely going back. No one had stomach issues. The hotel supplied plenty of bottled water for you to drink in your room and to brush your teeth. The restaurants and beach bars made drinks, ice, etc. from bottled water.

excellent beach,pools and buildings. Garden areas are being freshly planted daily and will grow up looking beautiful.Staff are friendly and always smileing and trying to help.Food was great and plentiful.

Great food! Loved the variety of salad offered at the restaurants & burgers, steak or chicken. Pizza Shop always available & drinks at poolside were most delicious. Rooms were very lovely, great king bed in our room as well as bar fridge stocked at no extra charge. Air conditioning worked awesome and could be adjusted easily. Lovely balcony to relax on in evening should you wish to. ✔️😊😊👍🏽

The resort is self was good, although as we found out it has been sold. There are many repairs that needed to be done and the buffet was the same every night. Last year (2015 ) the buffet was much better. The grounds were kept cleaned and staff was very friendly.

My sister and I booked this trip for my birthday. Upon arrival the resort was very nice. Happy that it wasn't too big, but I did find that the people weren't too friendly as we didn't speak Spanish. Nathaniel at the front desk was great. He helped us with everything we needed. Entertainment staff was nice. Keep in mind when booking an oceanfront view room most beds are king. My sister and I had to change rooms as we requested two doubles. We were then moved to the elite club. Nice room and close to the beach. Closer to the end of the week we noticed that there were possibly fleas or might I say bed bugs as we experienced bites over night. We were happy to be going home needless to say.

Ill keep it simple, the hotel room was clean and everything worked as it should. the food was great, I didn't get any upset stomach nor nausea after meals (its always a concern when travelling). The people were so friendly whether tipped or not, and I appreciated that they took the time to answer our concerns! The only thing is that, I went in the down season (end of may)where there is less travelers, so the on site club was pretty boring lool. Overall, I loved going to Dominican and ill probably go back in the future!

The grounds were nice. Activities should last longer (10 minute bingo games could be longer, karaoke night should last longer). Cockraoches in some of the rooms, turned me right off, therefore I will never go back to this resort. Food at the ala carte restaurants was fantastic!

We stayed at the Barcelo Dominican Beach March 4- March 11, and were extremely happy with our stay. We traveled with 3 couples and were impressed right off the bat when checking in they were able to get us all king size beds, even though our package was for doubles. We stayed in block 7, the room was great, ac worked perfectly, water pressure a little weak. The grounds are impeccably kept, music on all the pathways. 3 different buffets, 5 a la carte ( food was good no complaints and a big selection) the cafe is amazing - surprised you don't have to pay extra...the drinks in general were all right...found the vodka to taste a bit like tequila, so maybe stick to rum, or buy a bottle at the supermarket like we did. We spent our time on the beach and had to get up at a decent time to get chairs, but the American spring break was going on so I believe it was busier then normal. The grounds are large enough that we could avoid their mayhem :) the pool seemed more difficult for chairs but we didn't spend much time there. There's 3 pools, we liked the far quiet one :) I had a massage at the spa, highly recommended , Nullie was awesome !! Overall, we were looking for a good deal, and were really impressed considering this is a 3.5 star. Would stay again and recommend to others.

The beach/ocean was really nice but the employees were not very nice to you if you did not speak spanish. I went last year to a different resort and i had a much better time! Even the guests all spoke spanish so it was really hard to talk to people. They also clean your rooms super super late in the day.ex: you spend all day at the beach/pool come back to your room and they haven't or they're cleaning it at 5 pm. It was really frustrating happened all week.

We stayed in the Jr Suites in block 6 and for,the extra cost it was worth it. The room was a bit dated and could you some upkeep ,ie. Shower rusty and couch looks old. The bed was comfy and room kept clean. The grounds were well cared for. The beach was nice and they tried to keep up with the seaweed that would float in. The resort was busy when we where there so had to make sure to reserve some beach chairs. The buffet was ok and we had no stomach troubles, although made sure to use the bottled water in our room for brushing our teeth as well. Security watches the beach and keeps an eye out on the rooms. We had stopped by our room to pick up something and the door didn't shut completely within a few minutes there was a knock and the security guard was checking to make sure all was okay. All in all had a good time and no issues.

We stayed at this hotel from Feb 17- 24, it was not a terrible place, however I will not be back at this resort. When we originally booked it was a 4 star hotel and before we arrived it had changed to a 3 star. The Beach was amazing, lots of chairs at the beach and the pool. Food - was pretty average at the A la Carte and the buffets Bars- Every time you ordered a drink you were not sure what you would be getting, I ordered the drink special of the day and pointed to the picture and they still couldn't get it right. However if you go to the Casino Bar Calvin was a very good bartender, made excellent drinks and his service was fantastic! Cleanliness - Cock Roaches in rooms, and they fumigated and said it wasn't harmful and we could stay in our rooms. When we got our room cleaned it would always be around dinner time, and we would never get enough towels. However the house keeping staff were very nice but spoke barely any English. The Resort Grounds - Were well kept and they were always fixing something. We were not bugged to much on the beach for locals selling stuff. Pools - were not the cleanest Not that you go down south to play on the internet however the WIFI you pay for barely worked while you were in the lobby.

Beautiful beach however when we stayed at the hotel they were at 106 capacity and over booked. This meant having to line up for the buffet, lines for bathrooms, not enough seats on the beach, by the pool and in the lobby in the evening. Our room had a leaky ceiling in the bathroom. Management said that they fixed the problem however the whole duration of our stay there daily was a puddle of water left from the dripping ceiling. Additionally our room had cockroaches. I would not return to this hotel. Few of the staff provided excellent service. The quality of the drinks being served was poor. The hotel is run down. There is no free wifi. We were provided with a hospitality room before leaving to the airport which had not been cleaned and was full of wet towels from previous guests. I will not return to Barcelo Dominican Beach.

Rooms and hot water( lack of) need improvement. Paid 30$ US for the worst WiFi ever. 2 minuet walk and got excellent wifi for FREE. The pathways are a stamped concrete and hard to walk on. The English translation at buffet needs to be reviewed by someone fluent in English / Spanish.

Awesome value! Excellent service. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The resort has something for everyone. A beautiful beach, 4 pools, 2 buffets, unlimited a la carte's, 24 hour bar and snack bar.

Resort is above average. Staff is great! Rooms...clean but low water pressure. Grounds very well kept and maintained. Food was better than expected. Buffets were good buffets. (lots of selection) Ala Carts...some were very good/some very bad. No Canadian Whiskey on site. (bummer but not a deal breaker). Beach issues with seaweed rolling in. Out of the resort's control but they worked hard daily to clean it up. Pools were a great alternative. Felt safe and comfortable to whole time.

Hi to every one! My wife and I just returned from Barceló Dominican Beach, Punta Cana D.R. It’s a nice resort. Thanks to the management. Apparently they hire good people and train them well. First of all we really appreciate the security – no intruders on the property. No beggars, no beach vendors, more over – even no Vacation Club agents. Thank you gentlemen again. That was a nice stay. Our room was Honey Moon Ocean Front suite – no comments. Just a few things: clean, the beach and the beach bar just under our balcony, Jacuzzi with the ocean view indeed and a nice maid service. Dominga Brito was one of them. She was and I believe still is very good. The garden crew is good. The beach and swimming pool are nice and carefully groomed. Even though a night storm once left the garden crew a lot of work to remove the sea weeds washed up on the beach that night. But the guys did it. The bar crew is amazing and very friendly. Santa, Claudio, Brilon, Enso Luis are very good and apparently the youngest of them Alexander is a really hard working boy probably he will become a manager at some time in the future ‘cause as his colleges he knows already how to work properly. There is another guy and a very good one but unfortunately I can’t tell his name. Sorry. Speaking about the bars we’ll never forget Ricardo from the Lobby bar. He is a professional. But Ricardo please tell your co-worker (don’t know his name) when one asks for a glass of Napoleon the bartender should not offer any ice. Now a few words about Barle Café that my wife and I highly recommend. To our eyes we used to get there the best dessert after our dinners. Ask Anibelis and Bethania for Carribiano coffee it is not only tasty but the way they cook it is a little and exciting entertainment! Food in general is very good to our eyes. The only remark in our opinion deserves perhaps only the egg station. For example my breakfast consists only from eggs, some cheese and a bit of cooked ham nothing else. That’s why I am especially anxious to the way my eggs cooked. If I ask for three eggs sunny side up the egg specialist may not piled them onto my plate anyhow as the yolks must not be ruined this way by his negligence. If it easy over the yolks must not be tremendously overcooked! It is important! A real professional (and a consumer) may cry seeing that. Though it’s a trifle the rest is perfect. The staff is very friendly. Our special thanks to Anna Maria – main buffet, to senior Daniel Barga from the grill bar at the beach that gentleman perfectly took care of us even late after the midnight. There are some a la carte restaurants. We regret not visiting a Spanish one that was our own fault. But we enjoyed Mexican and Brazilian a lot. The snack bar at the beach completely satisfied our lunch needs. What not to like? The night’s entertainment are beautiful. The animation crew are hardworking guys even though we didn’t take part in it but yet it is always fun to watch other people dancing on the beach or doing some other activities. We had a nice socializing with many people from the States, Canada, Switzerland, France, Germany and some East European countries (my wife and I we do speak languages). That was a pleasure as well. It was a nice stay (our fourth time in D.R. and number 11 on Caribbean in total) my wife and I will recommend this resort to our friends and our fellow tourist in general. We were in Punta Cana in late August at the Barcelo Beach. Unfortunately, there was a lot of algea on the beach and cleaning up by staff was not very fast and thourough. The buffet is more or less average and food is just fair. The a la carte restaurant required reservation only 1 day in advance and all have to be made at the desk (not allowed by phone). The italian resto was by far the best, the brazilian is mostly for canivores since there is so much meat and very little garnish to go with it. Night Entertainment was rather simple and a lot of karioke pretenders singing

Clean resort. Restaurants was just average, buffet was much better. Bar not as friendly as expected . Bar not all drink were included. Rooms were clean and good size. Pools were clean and always some places available. Beach was big and great.

My wife and I have been to a couple resorts. This is not one we would go back to. A friend from her work went here before and raved about it. Our room - Bathroom door wouldn't close, bathroom ceiling falling down, No hot water, Flusher on toilet didn't work properly, sliding patio door was very difficult to close and lock, smell in the room (all of these problems were brought to front desk and guy came to fix but nothing was done). Food - OK. Service - most were very helpful. Beach - EXCELLENT!!

The resort and beach are very beautiful. The grounds are always kept up nice. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only downfall is the food - a lot of it was undercooked I.e. eggs/omelettes, meat and seafood on theme night.
