The all inclusive resort we’ve stayed at before has definitely dropped 1/2 star at least for us. Dinner buffet was cold, not replenished, poor selection of food options,cheap quality meat and next to no cheese The pool needs cleaning as it’s not great. The entertainment in the lobby in the evening is terrible. Canned music from a sound system would be better. Service was great during the day at the pool and the burgers and fries were good. The 1 a la cart restaurant called the sunset was also terrible. The food was reheated and served in very small portions. My 83 year old mother was still hungry after this 3 course meal. My husband and I went last year and I’ve seen a real deteriorating situation with the food and quality. Breakfast was good if you got there early. Location is amazing and staff is helpful and good. It’s unfortunate they are obviously making a profit by serving the guests the absolute minimum in food quality and selection. Very disappointing

The Buenaventura Grand Hotel is located just minutes from the Malecon in a safe area in Puerto Vallarta. We have stayed at this hotel 4 times and like its location. The hotel staff are very friendly and courteous. We have looked at other hotels in PV but we seem to always come back to the BG hotel. There is so much to do in the area from site seeking to some very scenic hikes along the Bahía de Banderas shore line to some private beaches. There are so many very good restaurants in they area and are worth the extra cost. Don't forget to visit The Palm Cabaret and Bar and see a show, our favourite was Miss Conception’s 25th Silver Anniversary Spectacular. Tammy from Tripcentral took care of all our travel needs.

We have been going to Buenaventura for 20 years, we love the staff, the location and the vibe from this resort Each year we go and meet up with our many friends and reconnect and explore what new updates the resort has completed, each time we go there is always something new A concern from this trip was the food choices at the Buffet and the one and only a la carte restaurant Breakfast at the Buffet was delicious although it was noticed that the fruit selection was limited and the bacon was hit or miss The hotel needs to embrace the coffee and tea drinkers of todays generation I had to go searching each day for a cup of tea Why don’t you set up a coffee bistro The menus have changed at the sunset restaurant since the last time we were there they eliminated the soup and salad bar at lunch and several of the staples , the club house sandwich the shrimp screwers We actually didn’t go to for dinner because there wasn’t anything that interested us on the menu several other guests said they were disappointed as well Our room was perfect and always clean One negative regarding the pool side The hotel needs to purchase more chairs and umbrellas The solution of “the pool cop” isn’t working People weren’t allowed to be away from their lounger for more then 15 mins or your stuff was removed We had to stagger our time away or notify that we would be going to breakfast where we were told we had 20 mins Not a relaxing trip Other then that we had a great time as always

Staff are wonderful, very friendly, helpful & kind. Lots of wonderful food to choose from. Room we beautiful & clean. Beds comfortable. My only dislike, I was sick for 2 days, my family member tried to bring me some food from the buffet, & they were told they could not do that. I could not drink the water there. When asked at the front desk for extra bottled water in the room, we were told no.

This resort was in the older part of town on the water and close to the boardwalk at the centre of the city. Great location. It wasn't too large. The food was good. The staff worked really hard to take care of us really well. It was not fancy and high end luxury hotelling. I don't care for that, myself, as I want to be more in a local environment when I travel and not in some "first world luxory" that is unsustainable. The staff was very friendly and we tipped.... a lot. These people do not make a lot of money. It was all inclusive, but we still left money on the table at each meal and tipped really good service. I would use the hotel again if I went back.

Great location, friendly helpful staff, spotlessly clean, comfortably warm pools, beach has lots of lounges and umbrellas. Entertainment consists of a contemporary Mexican band playing at a beach buffet and a Mariachi band with performers at a larger outdoor poolside venue - playing one night each per week stay. The Sunset à la carte restaurant overlooking the beach was spectacular and we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there almost always. The menus there didn’t offer a big choice, but the food was delicious. The Mexican à la carte restaurant was horrible and we ate there only once. The main buffet restaurant was ok only for breakfast. Lunch hot items were cold - sitting in uncovered chafing dishes with one small can of heating fuel. Dinner was almost all Mexican food with some dishes being incredibly spicy and unlabeled as so. Meat dishes were overcooked. We were able to use the Sky Bar and loved it for snacking and the amazing sunset views. Some people we spoke with had been coming here for over 10 years but they didn’t always have all their meals here. The location and the all inclusives were the main reason for booking this hotel.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the BGH in 3 years each time going in March. We were amazed at the number of people who have stayed at this hotel 5, 10, 15 or 20 times over the years which tells me they are doing something right. The hotel is in a great location, close to the Malecon but far enough away to be somewhat quiet away from all the crowds. The rooms are a bit date but the beds were comfortable, rooms are clean, air worked great and our room was spectacular, as we had an ocean front suite, well worth the additional cost. We enjoyed the service we had at the restaurants and pool area of the hotel. A couple of things the hotel could improve on is making customers arriving early on the first day is not making them wait until 12 noon to get access the bar and buffet and try to get them into their room if possible before 3pm, Air transat flight lands at 10am and you arrive at the hotel by 11am. We were happy overall and plan to go again next March for 2 or 3 weeks.

Hotel was right on the main road so lots of shops as well as the boardwalk. Our first room was on the main level by the lobby & so noisy. After 2 nights we were able to switch to the second floor but there was only a window, no balcony. Rooms are clean & modern. Beach is very rocky & not swimmable due to the undertow. Red flag was up the whole week. Pool was small but good. Food was good but our son-in-law got food poisoning his second last night. Staff are very friendly. If you like the pool & not the beach this hotel is for you

This resort has a great location near the malecon ala cart restaurants are very good ,Sunset restaurant good for breakfast lunch dinner....staff is very good and friendly...resort kept very clean....small resort with noisy pool area...some night time entertainment ...good drinks....rooms good but many have poor views unless up pay more or are "club" members they will try to sell you to become travel club member...buffet was terrible little variety cold and poor quality ....beach is pretty good but has lots of rocks and suffers when tied is high

The rooms were nice and well kept. The breakfast were the only good meals served. The rest were often cold and some barely edible. The front desk couldn’t or wouldn’t help or provide simple basics such as providing bottled water or converting large currency to smaller bills for tipping the bar staff and servers. The pools were not clean. The water smelled bad and was way too warm. When we needed medical help the staff took a long time to arrive at our room and didn’t have basic medical supplies (glove) to provide help then gave completely wrong information to the doctor and ambulance. There was no need to call ambulance services. We found booking excursions through WestJet was way more expensive than vendors we met on the beach. Twenty-five percent more for exactly the same trip. The beach was left a mess after an event. They’re plastic lock straps and pieces of wood with screws protruding through it. Overall it was disappointing to see the decline in this resort since 2019.

The Bonaventura Grand itself is a lovely, clean hotel. However we booked a deluxe king room, we did not know that it did not have a balcony, and faced the busy street. We requested a change and would have paid for upgrade, but they could not do it. This hotel was overcrowded for its’ size. Food choice was mostly mexican based…however there was a grill restaurant where we could go. There was always a good choice of fresh fruit, breakfast was very good. The staff is friendly and helpful, but many do not speak English. The beach is not really walkable, full of stones and pebbles.

The service that I received from tripcentral was amazing and one of the best customer service experiences of my life. Ash took care of me from start to finish and what could have been a stressful experience was not at all due to Ash. The flight times were perfect and the airline Sunwing was quick and efficient. The Buenaventura Grande is an excellent hotel and in a great location. It was just a short walk to the malacon and some great shopping areas The staff were exceptional and were professional and also interacting with me. Everyone seemed happy and enjoying their job which says a lot about the management staff. The food was good and the place was spotless. I will definitely be back and stay at this resort in the future. Extremely good value for the price

The hotel was recently renovated so the place sparkled. The rooms were spacious with a nice view and comfortable beds. The food at the buffet and Mediterranean cafe was delicious. There was a fun Mexican fiesta hosted at the resort one evening that included lots of food stations, entertainment, games and fireworks.

First of all location is great, beach area is mostly rocks now. Upon arrival entered room, had no save and no working phone, apparently they don’t have clocks in rooms, had to get a safe and phone fixed . Room was so noisy due to the open lobby with entertainment and loud drunk people in hallways all night, went next morning for a room change , told we would be second floor ocean view and balcony, waited until 4pm to find our room on third floor with a window. As far a food not the best, very little to choose from in buffet always same stuff and mostly cold. Talked to people that have been going for years, they say it has changed so much and won’t be returning. WONT BE RETURNING TO GHIS PLACE,!!

Great smaller resort in a fantastic location. Clean, tidy, amazing service and staff. Food was good - our 12 year old loved all the fish options and the pasta bar. Husband loved the morning omelet station. Staff went out of their way to also send our son a little birthday cake and card. If you have younger children or a really light sleeper - ask for an inside room that faces the ocean. We were on the street side and was busy with noise (cars, sirens) - not an issue for us. Our friends were on the "wedding reception" side - so the loud music and party goers did not allow for a quiet sleep. However, the staff was very accommodating at changing rooms (based on availability).

Our overall score for this resort is 7.5 out of 10. The good: - the location can't be beat, closest all-inclusive to old town and the marvelous Malecon shops and restaurants - compact, easy to get from your room to lobby to restaurants to pool to beach - super friendly service from every corner of the resort (even met and had a long and fruitful chat with the GM) - Sunset Restaurant is outstanding, Best place for a la carte breakfast and dinner. Great beachside views. - all grounds well-maintained, clean and highly attractive - our king renovated room with small balcony was modern, comfy and spotless - Mexican Fiesta night was a 10+. Food stations were well staffed, short lines, quality of the food was outstanding. Wonderful entertainment right on the beach. - Pools, though small, were clean and well-maintained. Of course, like every other resort, getting the best lounge chairs poolside required early morning towel and book placement. Never a problem on the beach. Lots of umbrellas. The not-so-good: - main buffet was hit and miss for dinner, OK for breakfast. - front desk staff, though patient and friendly, could use some more fluent English speakers - very few oceanfront/oceanview suites

We were a group who stayed at this resort March 28 for two weeks. We were so happy to see Gustavo,Eduardo,Fausto,Herman, Omar and Daliha. Our room was perfect and very well maintained. The meals were very tasty. The one thing that changed was the pool bar was closed at 10 pm which was a shock. We all missed sitting out there. The top bar also closed at 10 which left the lobby bar open until 1:00 am.. please reconsider reopening the pool bar. We were also happy that the smokers are still very much accepted. Kudos. God willing we’ll be back

We had one of the best vacations at this resort. It was very clean and the staff were excellent. The location is perfect. Close to everything. The food and drinks were very tasty. Staff were so professional right from the doorman, Omar to the maid. We will definitely return. They were always cleaning too. It was so much fun.

Everything was kept spotless and all staff were masked at all times. Too bad many of the guests were not as considerate. Room was renovated and very nice. I was on the 4th floor and some intermittent HVAC noises but I think they were working on that. Food and beverage service was great and the wait staff were fantastic. Our only complaint was the fee charged gor the PCR test. Their website advertises 2500 pesos but they were charging 3000 pesos cash or 3150 pesos on credit card. Quite $$ for the convenience. Next time we will go to the airport and pay $1500 pesos. Other than that the Buenaventura is awesome and we are going back in Feb 2022.

This is the second time staying at this resort. We booked it last year and decided to do so again this year. My agent contacted the hotel and asked for an early check-in and a room with a balcony. Very happy to say we got both on arrival. Hotel and grounds are kept in immaculate condition. The staff are all extremely kind and helpful. Most staffers I recognized from last year, which I took as a good sign, it means they are happy to work there. I love that it's a smaller boutique resort. Not at all pretentious. The grounds are well manicured and from room to beach is literally under a two minute walk. They have something different each night fur entertainment. They really go above and beyond when planning these events. Highly recommend

Excellent staff they are amazing. Entertainment was good.The beach is nice could use more umbrellas and better lounges..Maybe more washrooms . The food needs to be improved in the sunset restaurant.

This was our 14th visit to this Resort and we will return next year. The staff is amazing and very caring I.e., Eduardo, Gustav, Fausto, Isidro, Pedro, Omar and of course Dahlia. Food in the Sunset is awesome. Room was immaculately kept clean by Elena. Congrats to Caesar, Manager, awesome job and u are very well respected by staff. Grounds and pool very clean.

I especially enjoy the friendliness and helpfulness of staff anywhere I go, and I found majority of staff here so. I especially enjoyed my stay here this time around due to the balcony facing pool/ocean area as I was able to attain balcony during my first visit in 2019. I like close proximity to malecon and walking distance to many places. I liked the entertainment in the evening at the hotel.

I love this resort for many reasons... Its beautiful, clean and so close to everything, everything is within walking distance. I love the shops so close by.. The Malecon is walking distance. The resort is not too huge, i love the rooms, bar & dining area, pool are all close. The food was excellent. I love having the balcony facing the ocean & pool area. The staff are very friendly, providing awesome service. I couldnt ask for better service. Keep up the good work. The only thing that needs to improve is the evening entertainment. It all ends early and nothing else to do after that but go sit in the pool side bar. Other then that, i would definitely go back to this hotel.

Smaller, comfortable all inclusive resort a short walk from the beautiful Malecon in Old Town PV. Resort is a bit older but in great shape The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. Grounds are well maintained though the beach was a bit stoney.

We have been at this resort 3 times over the past 3 years. The grounds, food and especially the staff are exceptional. Always someone willing to help. The access to downtown is a big plus to our time there.

All the staff provided quick, friendly service with a smile. The food was very good with a nice variety. Our ocean view room on the 3rd floor provided all we needed with great view of pool, ocean and mountains. Loved the sunsets. We chose Buenaventura for its location close to The Malecon. 10 to 15 minute walk depending on how many shops you stop in along the way. Excursions to the Marina and Bucerias went very smoothly using the bus system. Lots to do in PV. We'll be back and definitely stay at Buenaventura again.

I booked the Beau Aventura Grand for myself and two friends. Chose it for location,and the good food reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel is a nice small size,but lots of beach chairs, great pools. Beds comfy and clean. All in all we had a wonderful stay

OUR FIRST WEEK WE WERE THERE WE THOUGHT THE STAFF WANTED TIPS BEFORE THEY EVEN SERVED YOU. THE SECOND WEEK STAFF WAS MUCH MORE FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND FOOD WAS ALL RIGHT. .

This Hotel was very well maintained, clean and a great location. I can see how some could be disappointed with their room location. The beach is very nice, they do get a lot of rocks washing up on the beach with the waves but they do seem to keep up with them and clear them off every couple of weeks. It would be nice if they had more English speaking hotel workers as there was a few times we needed some info or wanted to ask something and no one understood what we were saying..... including at the ala cart restaurants. The Dining experience was the biggest disappointment of all, the buffet was the smallest buffet I have ever seen and the choices were very small and did not differ much from day to day. We had a lot of stews and meats in sauces.... which where usually left overs from the day before. The salad bar was usually 4 bowls of different salads that were made up, the meats where more than often not even chewable. I was sick 9 of the 10 days and even spent 36 hrs in my room. They certainly can improve in the dining area. Overall the Hotel and location was fine the dining was bad,

The Buenaventura is a great resort rooms where ok staff were excellent. The only problem was the food. Our group was very disappointed. Breakfast was good but that was the best of the day. Lunch and dinner was not good at all most of the meat was so tough that you couldn’t chew it and no flavour. Maybe it’s me but when I am on a holiday in a tropical climate winter stews are just not right. Your resort is very beautiful and in a great location and we would love to return if the food was better.

The hotel was very clean. My room was a good size with good views The bar staff were excellent. The restaurants were ok but could use a bit more variety. I would recommend this for people who like to walk uptown and don’t expect a 5 star hotel

Hotel is well appointed. Location is within a few minutes walk to the Malacon district. Beach is clean. Enjoyed my recent stay. Staff friendly and offer assitance in transportation needs and offering directions to sites.

This hotel is awesome , convenient to go everywhere , 5 minutes to downtown . Easy to catch public bus , right in front of the hotel . The rooms are beautiful , clean , ocean view .The restaurants are fantastic . Highly recommend it .

I would like to thank you for making our stay at your hotel a very enjoyable experience. The vacation started out a little rocky because first, our flight arrived 13 hours late, and second, we were told your hotel was temporarily closed and hence we were sent to another hotel. That, by the way, turned out to be a pleasant experience. On day three of our vacation, we did finally check in at your hotel. The changes of the schedule were handled graciously and with minimal loss of pleasure for us. But we particularly enjoyed the remaining 4 days at your hotel. Our room was not big, but comfortable, and fitted with a balcony offering not a full panoramic view of the ocean, but nevertheless a nice slice of view over the bay of Banderas, as well as a city and mountain view. The service was impeccable throughout, the food very nice. We loved the traditional Mexican cuisine, and the fried fish served at lunchtime at the Sunset restaurant was simply delicious. We dined one night at the lovely Corazon Contento, where the food was presented with sophistication by super friendly staff. The dishes were tasty, the only criticism I have is that it was all served somewhat lukewarm rather than hot, something I think should be fundamental for a classy restaurant. Other meals we had at the Frutas y Flores buffet were delightful, again with a service by friendly staff that can't be beaten. We appreciated that the hotel and its grounds were meticulously clean and well maintained, the location and the vistas from the hotel area are simply spectacular. I was bothered just a little bit by the music, especially that there was competing music from the Sunset bar and the speakers spread out on the grounds. I would rather have liked to have quiet times, although the Jazz that was played at the Sunset bar was completely compatible with my taste. It was an excellent place for the entire family. Service was A1. Extremely polite staff. One issue, when my son lost his arm band , we were charged 500 pesos . I thought that was not called for. Good food and abundance of drinks . Room were clean and well maintained. Fridges were topped up every afternoon. Lot of places in walking distance otherwise take a CAB which is very cheap. Definitely will go back if going back to PV

I've travelled a lot in Pierro Vallarta And stayed at many hotel resorts and this is not a four star resort location is great the rooms are old the plumbing is not good nor the air conditioning the front staff was not helpful although the other staff was great I would not recommend this hotel

This hotel is small compared to some, but that just means excellent service. The waiters are especially friendly, hard working, and always there when you need something. Very clean, good food, nice beach, and a short walk to the Malecon.

Here are the main grievances that I will cover: • Check-in and Upselling • The Rooms, Internet, Noise Level • The Pool Chairs!!!! • The “Adult Pool”!!!! This is not to say there were not other issues, but for me these are the main ones. See also positive notes at the end. Check-In and Upselling Problems started right from the moment we arrived at the hotel. Right beside the front desk are 2 offices staffed with people who wear tags saying they work for the hotel but it would seem they are there to get you to buy other services. During check-in, any questions we had about the hotel were referred to these people. You couldn’t even ask a simple question about what time dinner started. We still had not caught on, and I naively asked about the "adults only" pool. I was again referred to the other offices, and was told they could set us up with "preferred seating" at the adult pool (see further notes below on this subject: The “Adult Pool”!!!!). After check-in we asked about this at the desk we were referred to, only to be told this would be explained by their specialist who would be there in the morning. So by then we knew there was something fishy. We did go to see the "specialist" in the morning and sure enough, he was doing an up-sell. He talked about a “Vacation Package” (probably timeshare) – wait a minute, hadn’t we already bought a vacation package through Westjet? He wanted to give us a free breakfast and talk about it. Sure - the usual timeshare come-on. So you see the connection: tired travellers just off their flight have all their questions redirected to a side office and are then told that in order to get answers you need to come back in the morning when the "specialist" is there (read Sales Guy). It seems the hotel has no qualms about trying to get weary travellers to give up more of their money for these additional “services” and “packages”. In my opinion it is shameless. I have been coming to Mexico 25 years and have never seen such blatant attempts to get their customers to buy more from the minute they walk in the door just when they are most tired and vulnerable. We talked to many other guests who were equally disgusted with this shoddy and unethical practice. The Rooms, Internet, Noise level Forget about internet in the rooms. Our package from West Jet did say there was wifi in the rooms, but neglected to say it doesn't work most of the time! We complained about that and also about the fact our room smelled and after 2 days we were moved to an ocean-front room (we paid for the upgrade). The internet still did not work properly. So we just gave up on that front. The room was very nice until about 8:30 at night when the "entertainment" started at the pool. It was absolutely the loudest music I have ever heard and would probably be damaging to the eardrums. We had to close out balcony door and also needed earplugs just to survive. So much for the upgrade and listening to the surf. We called down and asked them to turn it down. They said they did but we did not hear any difference. The hotel claimed they had 400 guests and some people did like this music. So we went down and saw that there were only 8 people actually watching the show. What about all the parents trying to put kids to bed? What about people just trying to have a relaxing evening, what about those who paid a premium to hear the ocean (ie us) who have to the shut the balcony door and put ear plugs in???? This took much more complaining to both the hotel and West Jet. They did turn it down a little on follow-up nights but we still needed to close the balcony and wear earplugs. So we requested yet another room change, this time to the far side of the building. Finally, the noise was bearable. By then we were on day 6 of our 14 day vacation. The Pool Chairs!!!! This is perhaps one of the most hidden and bizarre aspects of their poor maintenance program. Every single lounge chair at each pool could not be placed properly in an upright position so you could read a book. In fact the mechanism for adjusting the chairs was in all cases mangled (see photos). Did they get the chairs at a fire sale or what??? This is not something you think to ask about in advance when going to a new hotel (ie – “can you actually adjust the lounge chairs?”) So most people we talked to were very unhappy about this and had resorted to putting stones in the mangled mechanism so as to get a bit of an upright position. This was very, very common during out stay. The stones would fall out and you would have to keep putting them back in. It was quite a common discussion point, or joke, on the elevators or poolside. Every night the cleaning staff would remove the stones and then you would have to find some more the next day. My husband decided wood would be better, so he collected wood pieces from the ground in town (I kid you not), and then chiselled them to the right dimension with sharp stones he found in the beach. The wood pieces were very popular and we ended up making some for other guests and also giving ours away when we left. I know this sounds incredulous, but look at the pictures! You couldn’t make this stuff up! The "Adult Pool"!!!! The website states that there are “Three heated pools with adults only areas”. This is quite misleading. We thought there was an adults-only pool which we assumed would be a quiet area. This is not so. There is a small area or “pool” with submerged lounge chairs which is what they refer to as the adults-only area. It is approximately 3 meters by 10 with no room for swimming. The actual swimming pools all allow kids so there is no actual, quiet, adults-only swimming pool. This was very disappointing as this was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Other guests told us they had the same misconception. At all the pools, you are subjected to noise off and on all day of various sorts, including pool aerobics and pool-side bingo. If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place to come. On the positive side • Non-management staff are friendly and try to do a good job. None of the above is their fault. It is management. • On another note, they have established an exemplary recycling program including organics, plastics and paper. This was very good to see. • The place is kept relatively clean.

We stayed at the Burenaventura Grand for a week in February and, we were very impressed! Our room was very clean and in the on the main floor which was close to the lobby and the pools. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. A special thanks to Jessica (customer service), the waitress in the lobby bar who served us wine every night (sorry we didn't get your name), Edie, Francisco, Raymundo, and Venntura. The food was great - pastries were always fresh! The location was awesome! Only a 10 minute walk to the Malecon! We will definitely return!

Great proximity to the downtown. Good variety of food from day to day. Beach is rocky. Rooms are fine, but not all have balconies. Staff are great. Pool is missing some tiles but they are fixing it. Good stay overall!

We met here 21 years ago, and are in our mid sixties. We have been to Mexico at least 30 times, and cruised for over 120 days. Surprise, we go a cab ride from the scare port to the hotel...instead of the usual big bus milk run. Staff great, rooms great, hot water and pressure, way better than at home. RM 1247 with balcony and ocean view. Beach was in good shape, at the end of Jan. stayed 10 days. Pool area has limited space, but we are beach people. Food was surprising. We had some wonderful meals, especially at the beach restaurant. We could not believe the beef medallions, out of this world, melt in your mouth. Also the cream seafood soup there was to die for. They used lamb broth and sea food to create a rich flavor. Beef burria in the buffet was also a favorite. A lot of the food was totally acceptable, if you could not find anything there to your liking, I would be surprised. Service was awesome, even at the beach the servers were on it, drinks, drinks and more drinks. Hey it's not the Mayan Palace, expect some rough edges. The clientele are a fun crowd, easy going and seemed to mix a little more than normal.

We were there from January 5 -12, 2018. Flight to PV was good and a few minutes early. We could not check into our room until about 3pm. The check-in process was easy. Staff was friendly. This was our first visit to PV. Our room was small but nice. Clean. A/C worked well. Balcony is small. Ours had only a partial view of the ocean. Maid service was excellent. We tipped her every day. The grounds are well kept. It is a pretty place. A smaller resort though. So do not expect the dining options that a large resort provides. On the other hand, you are not in a crowd staying here. There are 2 outdoor bars. One is mainly for margaritas. The other serves everything. The pool is nice. One big pool plus a smaller one and one for kids. This is a family resort. The beach has nice sand. You can walk quite a distance on very fine soft or packed sand. Swimming is not the best here as the water gets deep in a hurry. The hotel is at a VERY good location. There are stores on the same block of you can walk to the Malecon in 15 minutes (6 blocks). The Malecon is worth visiting. The food is average. After a week, you tire of it. The security at the hotel is very good. They supervise carefully. The biggest letdown was the entertainment. It is not up to par. I was expecting more. One of the experiences you will have here or anywhere in PV is a faceoff with a time share agent. Be prepared. Be tough. Be ready to say no firmly.

The one thing I can say is most of the staff we encountered were wonderful. The rooms I found weren’t quite what you see on the website but clean enough, could use a little updating. Food was decent but if you want pancakes and bacon you have to order from the waiter not always available at buffet not a big deal. Lots of beach service and around the pool, tip well and they bring you anything. Not a huge resort so not a lot of choices one bar and one restaurant unless you book the al a carte. We found a lot of people left as you are so close to the melacon to eat out. But in my mind when you pay so much for your trip why pay to eat somewhere else all the time. Next and I wasn’t impressed by this when you check out they cut your band off and you no longer can use their services, we had two and half hours before we left for the airport. They wanted 100 pesos an hour per person if you wanted to use the facilities. Okay 100 pesos is not that much but to me it is the principal we paid good money for our trip and we tipped everyone constantly. I was not impressed I have never found this at any other resort I have stayed at. I like you are close to the melacon but I would not choose to go back. The royal decameron Is our go to and I really missed it this trip. Adult pool always had kids in it Beach was rocky, beach and pools chairs not great.

the grounds were lovely, well maintained, pools terrific layout( quieter, adult area as well), buffet offered lots of choices .Wait staff friendly and accommodating. Oscar the bartender was awesome ! Dulce the waitress was as well. Rooms clean , shower basic- suggest they install grab bars for safety. It was very hot and humid when I was there so it took some time to cool the room off- ceiling fans would help. The only downside this visit was related to the inundation of kids and families for the soccer tournament( that occurs annually) which resulted in lots of noise, kids at the bar( soft drinks), lineups at dinner during the last 3days. They weren't bad it was just so noisy. Otherwise a good place to stay.

Stayed at the Buenaventura from Oct 16- 23rd. Hotel is clean, small, easy to get around. Food was always great, lots of selection and usually hotter than other hotels I've stayed at. Eduardo is an amazing server for around the pool and beach. Our stay was made more relaxing by his excellent service. It is still a good 5-10 minute walk to get down town but people need to realize that the Malecon is a mile long after you get there. I've stayed further away and taken the bus and enjoyed it just as much. There was construction going on at the hotel for the entire week we were there, no major amount of noise but some walkways were blocked so getting around was a bit more inconvenient. There were 3 weddings during the week we were there as well. The weddings didn't over take the whole resort but it did make some areas off limits for the week. The lounge chairs by the swing bar were my favorite place. They are suppose to be adults only but not all parents read the rules so kids did come in a few times. Over all this resort is very pleasant. I would stay here again but I would also stay at other resorts farther away from downtown if the price were the same or cheaper.

Good: Great location - beachfront and only 10 minutes walk to Malecom. Very friendly and sweet staff. Grounds were cleaned constantly. Average: Food good but not great. Mainly Mexican dishes. Rooms clean but outdated (especially bathrooms), it is old hotel and needs rooms renovation. AC is also old. Bad: Major construction in the middle of the hotel, very noisy going through the whole day. Some rooms are more noisy than others. We were relocated 3rd night to more quiet rm. If you are looking for the Organic food, there is not any selection! They try to get you to their presentation for the Hotel Club Vacation. If you agree, you get free city tour and massage but you will also waste several hrs and get the hard sell. In summary, good value for the Money (we got it at discounted cost).

This hotel is on the beach and just a couple of blocks the the famous Peurto Vallarta Malecon, a beautiful walk along the beach with shopping across the street, the downtown and the Romantic Zone. It is a smaller hotel (4 stories) and has had a lot of upgrades. The staff at this hotel is just wonderful, the grounds and outside public places are beautiful! The dining is a raised patio on the sand, the food and seating are 5* There is a buffet as well. We have been to this hotel about 10 times and will go again! Most of their staff have been there a while and welcome us when we arrive. We feel like we are at home!!

The smaller hotel is very authentically Mexican. Lobby area is lovely, grounds are beautifully kept and everything is very clean. The clientele is a nice mixture of families and individuals from all over as well as local people. The food was amazing. The kids club has great staff. The pool area was really nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is within walking distance to Puerta Vallarta stores and sights. The rooms are nice and the beach is great. All in all we had a fantastic vacation.

On our first day we got roped into a TIME SHARE gig. We should have just said NO in the beginning and gone on with our holiday. After that our holiday began. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms could use some updating but were clean. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Most days we walked the Malecon into Vallarta, after spending time on the beach or at the pool. Once we discovered the Sunset Restaurant or a la cart, we had dinner there every night overlooking the ocean. The food was top notch, with wonderful presentation, great quality and excellent service by all the staff. The supervisor, Jonathan, and his team of workers, waited on us hand and foot. Jonathan would stop at every table and converse with patrons, along with his friendly staff. And he would even jump in to serve if there was a need. We felt like we were having dinner with friends every night. So we will definitely keep the Buenaventura as a great place to stay in Mexico. Charlie and Larry

Trip Central has been very instrumental to me in the last decade with my yearly hot holiday. I can not say enough excellent accolades about Nicole Deforest. I approached her this summer about a trip to Puerto Vallarta. She went above and beyond normal travel agent expectations. She helped me and the group of eleven secure travel plans, she assisted with numerous hardships along the way, such as: passport and payment issues, cancellations and participant changes. Her diligence and patience when dealing with clients like us. West Jet, Buenaventura staff and follow up with trip advisor, in my opinion, is second to none. Nicole is truly a strong credit to her profession. My future travel plans will always include her expertise. The Buenaventura Grand Hotel &Spa is a resort I would visit again. First impression of the hotel is limited as it doesn't have the flash and cosmetic appeal of other hotels, but upon entering you are over come with a feeling of comfort. There was an even ratio of staff to guests, each staff member goes out of there way to constantly make you feel special. The staff appear to enjoy their work, job duties and coworkers. I would say they were the best staff I have ever experienced at a resort. I would like to acknowledge one of the staff members in particular, Edwardo, who's work station is on the beach serving guests. He walked in the sand all day long never missing a beat, he would remember your name and your drink preference. Also Leticia Galena of the Frutas & Flores buffet restaurant. She makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed while she caters to you. 0verall, hotel is extremely clean and tidy, best of all you always had hot water in the shower which is not always the case at other resorts. Hotel Security is top shelf. It has a subtle presence no matter where you are on the resort. The beach area is constantly patrolled with a roped of section where you can relax and soak up the sun. Beach Vendors are closely watched and can only enter the roped off area when granted permission by the security guards. It's awesome. As good as it sounds, you can always find a few negative points too. The beach needs more sand, it is a challenge to enter the water due to the pebbles and river rock. The resort needs to have more night life after 10 pm. I believe the crowd that frequents the hotel is older in nature, a lot of pensioners that retire early in the evening. After the evening shows end around 10 pm, everything shuts down. If you wanted to socialize or dance a little you are forced to leave the resort. Obviously this is both a plus and a minus for guests depending on the individual. I have a suggestion or solution to possibly rectify the problem. Perhaps the resort could have parties or dances on Friday and Saturday night, they could go to midnight or 1am with live entertainment. After all your on a holiday why not have some fun! All in all, I had a very enjoyable experience and would do it all over again. I would like to thank Nicole Deforest from Trip Central and the staff at Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Spa again, just outstanding customer service.

We had an amazing time at this resort, service was wonderful, all the Staff it's so nice and friendly, they make our stay even better. Food was excellent at the buffet, we weren't to impressed with the food at the Resturant a la carte, wasn't anough and not as good as the buffet. We are very happy and satisfied, we would like go back a second time

One cannot say enough about how wonderful the hotel and their staff were during our stay. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating to anything we needed. The food was excellent and the beverages delicious. Excellent resort!

The hotel is located 6 blocks from the Malecon. Easy walking distance. The local buses are very easy to get around on from this location. The hotel staff was very friendly and were always helpful. Food was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to PV.

The staff at the Buenaventura were the best. I would definitely go back to this resort and would recommend it to other people. The only thing that I can many be say that was wrong was there were some loud frat boys that were obnoxious and annoying but it wasn't the resorts fault.

Right in the heart of town. Staff were amazing, and because the resort is small, we got to know several guests and employees. There was a good variety of delicious food. The grounds were well-maintained and welcoming.

This was a nice small hotel right in the middle of town. It's within walking distance of pretty much everything. Food was good. The service was hit or miss. All in all a good place to unind foe a couple of weeks!

We had a comfortable room and a great and tasty variety of food and drinks but the most enjoyable for me were the exercise classes in the pool each day. The Mexican fiesta on Friday night was also quite exceptional.

Apon arrival you may be given a room with no balcony, just a window that looks onto a parking lot/street view or a brick wall of the next resort. Rooms are tiny. Not something you go down to Mexico for. You have to nicely chat with the concierge to get the room you asked for. Staff is friendly. Beach is nice. Closeness to town is perfect.

The hotel is nice and a great location in town walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops. The food was decent but the buffet can get old pretty fast. Beach was closed half of our stay due to high tides but nothing they can do about that. Pools were clean. The staff are all very helpful and nice. Drinks were also good. The beer did not taste watered down and the bars were kept clean. Rooms were clean and adequate although the beds were a little firm for my liking. Booked a romantic dinner while we were there and got a 3 course dinner for roughly $15 each and the food was really good. Easily a $40 per person dinner where I am come from. The kids club was awesome and the staff there made them easy to trust.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The grounds were kept very clean, food was fresh and hot, rooms were nice and clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. In room safe, stocked fridge daily. A few blocks from the malecon. Close to grocery store, laundry etc.

the rooms and whole hotel were very clean and well kept. very friendly staff. good location right on the beach and the 2 pools for convenience. the food was excellent and the staff were always friendly. great location very close to town about a 10-15 minute walk which was nice. the crowd was a little older however and things shut down pretty early as the group I was with between 23-29 and wanted to do things a little later than 10:00pm. could be a little pricy but that could have been the time I was there. overall great experience for first time in Mexico!

We have been to Buenaventura several times and can't imagine any improvement is needed in the service, hospitality, food-presentation, grounds-keeping, location and happy staff, the welcome is so warm and we feel like family, many of the staff have been there for several years. I just love this hotel and plan another trip there very soon--we are 81/83 yrs.

I really enjoyed my trip to Buenaventura, Puerto Vallarta. The location is 5 star, walking distance to downtown and located on the beach. The grounds and beach are kept exceptionally clean, and the staff at the hotel, particularly the servers and bartenders are fantastic. The food was super and up to cruise quality in the Ala Carte restaurants. The beach restaurant open at lunch time was good food with lots of variety. The four star rating is due to the lack of consistency in bar offerings. We like champagne but availability was hit and miss. I will go back....great value and super service!
