A great coffee bar. Buffet was sup standard. The indoor buffet has been closed for years, so it has the outdoor one open and it is subject to birds sharing your food, wet weather and strong winds. Pipes draining in the lobby and the maids working 24 hrs to mop the puddles. Over all I found my room clean. Only one out of four elevators working. My aggressive maid entering my room asking for gifts while I stepping into the shower, ok if she want to wash my back. Oh, the gift was a rechargeable light bulb i bring to hand out.i would only recommend this hotel for the low low price, great for people looking yo travel through cuba on their bikes.

This may be a three-star hotel, but it truly exceeds expectations. The rooms are a little outdated, but they are kept spotlessly clean, with lots of hot water and great shower pressure. The grounds are immaculate and very well maintained, and it’s clear that upgrades are actively being done throughout the property. The food has been plentiful and flavorful, and the service is absolutely outstanding—staff consistently go above and beyond and make you feel genuinely welcome. A special mention to the coffee bar: the cappuccino is to die for! And the beaches—simply stunning. Some of the best beaches in the world, with crystal-clear water and soft white sand. Excellent value for Cuba

The Beach and the weather are amazing. The Staff are the Best you will find anywhere!! "Iberostar" knew they were leaving the Hotel and did not put any money or resources into the Hotel for the last year, leaving the Resort in disrepair! The Resort is tirelessly working on repairs and filling Staff positions and the Staff are doing their best with what the have! We have been going to this Resort for 9 years, they are Family to us but, they need resources to get a handle on the Mosquitos, ,sand fleas and biting little bugs as well as doors on the Food areas to keep the Birds out! WE LOVE the BELLA COSTA no matter who runs it! We will be back but maybe not next year :(

As repeat guests to the Bella Costa, we look forward to every visit to this "home away from home" resort. The Bella Costa staff are absolutely wonderful: from guest services reps to dining/bar servers, gardeners to guest room housekeepers, maintenance staff to beach life guards. Everyone working at Bella Costa is amazing. We are heartfelt grateful to Guest Services Reps Ana Laura and Dayagne for providing special care to us, as returning Guests. Carey from housekeeping is truly a gem. We look forward to future visits to Bella Costa - our beloved "home away from home".

We can not find anything wrong with this resort as it was our 19th time going there. They have made it more accessible for people with disabilities. I really hope they make some of the rooms as in bathrooms more accessible for disability people example walk in showers. We took my shower stool with us and it worked. I know people say there is no food in Cuba well we totally disagree with that statement. There is so much great food you can’t go hungry or if you do you are too fussy. Can’t wait for next year.

The only thing I was very disappointed with at this resort was the bathrooms. The rooms had decent washroom facilities but around pool, bars, and lobby they were terrible. No locks on doors, no toilet seats, constantly out of toilet paper and paper towels to dry hands, hand blowers rarely worked and hand soap missing. Very unhygienic. Resort could use some renovations to make it safe for guests with mobility issues. Also could use a painting on the outside.

Our family had a good time at this resort however a few things were surprising. Our first impression was walking into our room and being very disappointed in the cleanliness. I found dust and grime on the lamps that couldn't have been cleaned in months . The bedsheets and towels were stained . I'm sure they were washed but dingy and stained sheets leave a poor impression. Cuba is experiencing shortages but hot water and soap are still available to the cleaning staff. Some of the staff were exceptional and friendly. Johnathon was awesome! Yes, some pop/juice/vodka was unavailable but it certainly gave me an opportunity to try something else. The bathrooms by the pool were dirty -I never saw anyone go in to clean them - must have been night fairies.... The food was always good at the buffet , a lot of carbs- pasta , rice, potato and bread. The Italian ala carte was excellent . The pool was great , my grandson loved the foam party on Sunday! too bad some fool ( an adult) had a blowup boat with oars in the middle of the kids having fun. Most days the music was at an acceptable level but one day it was beyond loud ! for 14 hours straight! When the entertainment staff tried to speak they yelled into the microphone in order to be heard and in fact blew a whistle into the microphone during an exercise session. Also on that same day the "DJ" played some rap crap with "f" bombs and other inappropriate words . I marched straight over and told them to stop that music -there were young families everywhere and the idiot thought those songs were acceptable?? When we had to leave , there was no trip book to refer to as far as when our bus would be picking us up from the hotel - it is something I would recommend and have seen done at other hotels. Also there is no place to shower after you've left your room but still have to wait for a later flight . It would be nice to have a designated room or bathroom to use . If going to this hotel - go prepared . bring your own pillow cases - I did and I'm glad. Bring raid for the rooms - I always do. Bring snacks .

This is my third time at the Bella Costa. The resort just celebrated its 30th Anniversary, so yes, it is outdated. This was the first time I brought my mom to Cuba, I was a little disappointed with our bungalow as we looked out into a building with no view but my mom was content. There was plenty of water bottles, hot water to shower and clean towels daily. The bed was soft, bring a fitted sheet as there was none if it’s a necessity to you. We did not experience any food shortages and there was plenty of food. The drinks were not fancy as it depended on the day and if there was mix available. The staff are very friendly and work very hard. Joanna will serve your cappuccino or coffee with a beautiful smile. Hanoi will make you a drink and do his best to make you smile. While visiting the most incredible beach in the world Omar (the gardener) will make you a cricket or hat from the leaves. And the entertainment crew is the best! It’s only a short ride on the hop on hop off bus into town. Enjoy! ☀️

The staff were all amazing and friendly. We had a large variety of food everyday with no shortages of any kind. The pool and beach was beautiful and clean. They even helped plan a beautiful private dinner for my mom’s birthday. Live shows every night and really just a great ambiance all around. The only thing to note is the rooms are dated but still kept clean. I would absolutely go back and recommend to anyone looking to go to Cuba!

The food was varied and tasty and plentiful. The beach was beautiful. You can walk for many Kilometres. Friendly staff and service. Clean rooms along with comfy beds. I feel like this was a good value for our dollar, so it is without a doubt a hotel where all is done to please the clientele.

The first impression of the hotel was, this could not be the same place in the pictures. We were cat fished, the appearance very disappointing. We arrived after 12pm, room was not ready, we were told, we went and checked out the hotel to see what to expect, the hotel smelled moldy, which seemed like they must have leakage, very much so. The beach was beautiful, went back to front desk, room was still not ready. Went to try get something to eat, the lanuage barrier was a major issue, my friend didnt eat pork, but i did I asked for a hamburger got a bun with cheese what my friend settled for. I asked for the hamburger with meat, We noticed the cook and other workers stearing back at us every minute, when I was servered the meat was burnt and couldnt break apart, we saw so many other people getting their burgers and it did not look like what I was served. This was about after 2pm, we left from the hotel went into town, we found a great restaurant named El Bodegon Del Gardo, Calle 49 NO.106 e/1 ra y 2da Ave. Varadero, Cuba (53)45611369 food was pretty good that was a go to place to eat and the staff were great. Went back to the hotel after 7pm same crap room not ready. It was about after 9 we got a room and when we went upstairs, oh and the numbers in the elevator don't match the floors. There was a trail of water drips down the hall to the room, the smell of fresh paint slap us right in the face, the sheets on the bed were dirty, the washroom needed to be cleaned, there was no towel, toilet paper, soap. There was tape holding the glass of balcony door. Fridge was dirty no water. We went right back to front desk, of course we got the looks of here they come again. My head felt like it was going to burst from the smell of the paint. We asked to speak to the manager, she came to me to find out what was happening. I explained to her our ordeal and she was very understanding and apologized for the inconvenience. She offered a new room, which was locted on the other side of the hotel in the bungalow units. Well it was a well needed upgrade. Until we had a visitor who ran out of the washroom (lizard) ? we almost died from heart failure, my friend ran out the room screaming down the path to the security, while I was jumping from bed to chair, security ran over to help but then said he can't go into the room, he went to get someone else, thank God a lovely guest came back from the beach and came to our rescue, using a pillow to get it out of the room. The guy arrived to helped but the work was done already, I almost fell on the lizard trying to move it from the front of our door. It was a very long and stressful day, but we made the best of it and had some very memorable moments and lots of laughter. The one day we chose to go to the beach in the water, was the day after they had a storm, apparently there was a message sent out to not go in the water because of jellyfish, we did not get the message and we were out in the water having a blast trying to understand why no one was joining us out there. Atleast we entertained the guess who was watching us from way up on the sand. Smh, the manager was amazing and really made it her duty to check in with us and tried to make us as comfortable as possible. Was only a shame we only booked for the weekend. Makesure you bring your USD or CAD there is no ATMs and there was no way to get any Cash, and information that we got from the Workers was not very useful, seems like they were confused as much as we were. We will be returning to Cuba but not at this hotel.

Great location, beach front. Staff are all amazing ! Food- who cares, it was all about the beach! Nightly they had a show. The sunset was amazing. The drinks were flowing. The cappuccino bar was the best.

I was here in October 2023 and then in January there was a big difference no white wine no butter I only drink wine so was a bit unsatisfied!! But the beach was amazing some of the staff was amazing some no so well but I would go back again for location beach and some staff !! Overall I will give another try I like the bungalow better then in buildings maids were good 😊 care taker’s friendly front staff amazing never had a problem à la carts were the best buffet was average for Cuba 🇨🇺

We go to the Iberostar Bella Costa for the people who work there. Also it's easy access to Varadero. The ocean is wonderful. The rooms are fine and food is ok.The economy is very bad in Cuba. Less food and supplies for the hotels. For the first time the airport check in was awful it took over 2 hours. Overall we had a great time and would go back.

Friendly and fun staff. Rooms were clean, everything functioned. Food was good! Beach is amazing. Live music in the evenings was fun. Lunch buffet by the beach was really good. Been to Varadero several times. This resort is now my favorite.

We had a great few days at the Iberostar. We stayed on the 5th floor in an ocean front suite. We knew going into the vacation that the hotel was going to be out dated. We came prepared with extras like wash clothes, beach towel, extra toilet paper, hot sauce, ketchup, peanut butter, chips, candies, chocolate... lol The sheets were not fitted or white but we didn't care as long as they were clean. The beach is beautiful and the staff here were very friendly and helpful. The food was fine here. We liked the daily barbeque of chicken, pork or beef for lunch. A lot of the same food presented at each buffet but or hot sauce spiced it up. :) Just keep in mind that Cubans do not make very much money for all the hours they work so tipping and bringing little gifts go a long way. We would go back here in the future. We like the smaller not so busy resorts plus this one is the closest one to the beach. We stayed at the Melia Internacional in January. The resort is beautiful and the rooms are new and lovely but they ran out of so many basic things. It's a much larger resort with hundreds of people. We would much rather stay here any day. Just keep in mind this is not Barbados so don't expect things to be any where near a vacation like that. We loved our 6 day trip here and would recommend this resort but please just keep an open mind. You are getting what you pay for. Enjoy!

This was my 9th stay at this resort. Last was December 2022. Many upgrades since last stay February 2020. Rooms were very clean, as well as grounds, pools and entertainment areas. Some were masked. The employees responsible for visible food prep and serving were masked and gloved. It’s the guests that are the concern in the cafeteria areas. Herd mentality, as if there was not enough, which was not the case.

This hotel needs major work. Air conditioner broke, door wouldn't lock and cockroaches in room. No ice machine broke, no white wine, gin, vodka and butter only at breakfast. Food was awful. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Only good thing was beach and weather. The people are very friendly but don't have a lot to work with.

Just stayed at Bella Costa with a group of 10. It’s my 4th trip to Cuba and i was worried about the food supply but we had plenty of options and it’s honestly the best I have ever eaten in Cuba The rooms are dated and in need of love but you go to Cuba for the beautiful beaches, not the to stay ont eu hotel room The staff at this hotel is amazing, special shout out to Pedro at the pool bar We talked about when we would be going back just to see the amazing staff The grounds are well kept, pool is clean & no shortage of sun chairs :)

The rooms were adequate. Water pressure was good. Hot water available on most days. Food was limited. No24 hour options. Grounds were simplistic. Beach was fantastic. Limited activities. Very close to town which is convenient.

yes we been going to Bella costa for the last 15 years at times two times a year or one month at the time, we made many friends and we keep in contact over the year , the hotel? well in my opinion is not a 5 star it need to have the rooms renovated , the major point for this hotel is the staff, always willing to help for anything that you need, anything that you need ask and they will try to please you, the food? well there few items missing but no one will go angry as everyone knows the peoples of Cuba are going thru majors financial situation, but the peoples are singing and dancing and smiling, the beach is the focal point of this hotel...amazing white sand and clear water, we will be going back in 3 months to see our friends and bring them the chocolates that they deserve, if you happen to go there please mention Antonio from canada

Great selection of food is tasty beautiful resort beach is very nice a little rocky at some spots little far from downtown but if you can find someone to share a cab it cuts the cost rooms could be updated other than that the ambiance was nice very nice entertainment, the staff and musicians work hard don’t forget to tip they surely deserve it.

Resort was amazing however rooms, elevators, food and washroom vanity and water facility in rooms where either broken or not working. Resort did not even have enough towels due to which we were asked to use same towel for 4 days. View and pool amenities in resort are awesome. Beach access is good and beach is clean

Took my sister on a birthday trip and would recommend this resort and would absolutely go back. The staffs made you feel welcomed, from Linsay, to the amazing entertainment crew especially, Yoisel, to the best cleaner I have ever experienced Mabel. Those peopled named made this a trip to remember. I will be going back to Cuba and I will absolutely stay here. Also, Frankie as part of the entertainment crew was great as well. Had such a good time can't stop smiling.

I chose to stay in the main hotel – however would likely pick a bungalow next visit as they are closer to the beach. My 6th floor room was clean, well maintained and had a very comfortable king size bed. The housekeeping staff are very friendly and helpful. I chose not to have my room made up every day however Janice checked every day to see if I needed more water, toilet paper or fresh towels. Bella Costa provides water in your room in reusable glass bottles to save the ocean from all the plastic water bottles that never get disposed of properly….I really appreciated that touch. The entertainment staff was wonderful and, if you choose, will keep you busy from morning until bedtime! Each morning starts with gentle stretching and then aerobic exercise either in the pool or on the beach. Throughout the day there are games and contests for the adults – with your chance to win a bottle of Cuban rum – and also activities for the kids. Every evening there is a show and then the disco after. I enjoyed the shows – ranging from water ballet to dance productions! One evening featured a couples game - guessing how their partner would answer questions – that was fun! The disco opens at 11 pm in the main hotel just off the lobby. Although it’s not really my ‘thing’ – I checked it out and people seemed to be having fun dancing and drinking. The lobby is stunning with a huge stone bar – grand piano – several different seating groupings and a separate coffee lounge. Entertainment was offered there every evening. Cuba still faces many food shortages – however I was completely satisfied with all my meals. I tend not to be a breakfast eater….and like to sleep in in the morning – so my first meal of the day was usually at the poolside restaurant for pizza after a while in the sun! Loved the pizza! Lunch is also available at the buffet restaurant overlooking the beautiful beach – and the daily selections were varied and tasty. I went to all 3 offered a la cart restaurants and had excellent meals – the seafood dinner in the Cuban restaurant was recommended by my server and was amazing – and at the Italian Restaurant I had the best mushroom soup I think I have EVER had! The dinner buffet has plenty of variety – although not as much as I have seen in Cuba in the past – and I enjoyed my dinners there quite a bit. A word of caution – I often hear people complain about the food in Cuba – I think you have to remember the situation the country is in – they frequently face food shortages and import many of their food products which can be problematic at different times. Cuba is not a tourist destination for the gourmand – however – if, like me, you enjoy good basic cuisine with a local flair you will be happy. I was nervous travelling in our pandemic riddled world as I am ‘older’ and have co-morbidities. The flight and bus getting to the resort was a little scary for me – however once I reached the resort I felt totally safe and secure. All employees wear masks at all times – I observed staff constantly cleaning high traffic areas and ‘touch zones’. Buffets had servers - guests were not permitted to serve themselves, and masks were required in the restaurant. The biggest ‘flaw’ I found was that the pool is showing significant wear and tear and is in need of upgrading/TLC. I observed chemicals being added to the pool daily and the water was clean, however there are many spots where the paint has worn away from the sides and bottom of the pool - and there is a general ‘run down’ feel. Having said that – the magnificent ocean and pristine beach is only steps away. I have mobility issues and especially loved how close the beach is to the hotel – how safely and easily it can be accessed – and the beautiful sandy bottom of the ocean. I usually vacation in Cayo Coco….however loved Iberostar Bella Costa and will be returning as soon as I am able! Thank you to all the amazing staff that made my vacation memorable and truly made me feel welcome and well taken care of and valued! Thank you to all my new Bella Costa friends.

The hotel needs updating but the location and people are great. Food was better then some cuba resorts we have been at. The grounds are clean and the beach is amazing. Rooms definitely need to be renovated but did not spoil our trip after all we were only in our room to sleep. Overall I would recommend this resort but keep in mind this is Cuba not Dominican or Mexico. Thank you to everyone who made our stay enjoyable.

First time in a Iberostar resort who didn’t pay attention to the needs of the clients. From no towels in the room from first day to the 5 day. Most of the days had to have my key reprogram several times. The constant lies from costumer relations managers saying they go fix and never happened. No phone on my third room. The comments on Spanish about me was not pleasant. Only stopped when they realize I was aware what they was saying. ( Portuguese background in here) No cola in most of the bares or restaurants. Coffee most of the days was short too.

We always enjoy going to Iberostar Bella Costa hotel because of the people(staff) we got to know over the years at the hotel. The staff as wonderful customer service. We have been to that hotel 5 times and for us it's great. Also we enjoy the selection of food choices and the service. Our rooms are ok, because we are barely in our room during the day. The beach is wonderful. The water is clean and clear very beautiful. We spend most of our time on the beach in the morning and afternoon near the pool for the entertainment. This hotel is close to town so we either go on horse and buggee, double decker bus or taxi. So we enjoy going to town. Due to covid things have changed in the past 2 years in town and all over. For the residents in Cuba lots of products are not available for them and the Cuban money is not worth much. For example they have no toothpaste, milk and many other things. They are thriving because of Covid. We should be greatful and lucky of what we have. With all of this happening in Cuba, the people are very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time and will probably go back to the same hotel when we go to Cuba.

All employees were required to wear a mask. Although we ate at the buffet, they would put the food in our plate instead of self serve. Our room was always kept clean. The beach was amazing as usual one thing to remember is to bring bug spray as the mosquitoes were very bad. Future tourist should bring more Canadian or us cash as the Cuban peso is almost worthless.

We have been at this resort numerous times. There have been a lot of upgrades done to the rooms, grounds, etc. This is an older resort, but the resort is kept immaculate by staff. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. From the front desk to the entertainment staff and wait staff, there were no complaints. They went over and above their duties. The pool was cool this past week, but it was sparkling clean and refreshing. It was a very windy week, so the beach was red flag for a few days. We were able to get in the ocean the last few days of our holiday. The beach was very clean and groomed. The water fantastic. It was nice to have wait staff at the beach and around the pool - quite a treat! Food was fantastic - no complaints - lots of variety. There was no way you were going hungry. Covid protocols were in place. Masks were worn by ALL staff at ALL times. Hand sanitizer readily available throughout the resort. Cleaning of all surfaces done on a regular basis. We were not worried at all. All and all it was a fantastic holiday and we will return to Bella Costa many more times.

This is our 8th time in Cuba so we are very accustomed to travelling there. This is a nice size resort. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The ocean view and beach are amazing. Pool is also nice size but cool. Jacuzzi's were only filled later on our vacation but water was cold and no jets. We were in a balcony room facing the ocean on the second floor. The entire room is in serious need of upgrades and repairs. Toilet tipsy, missing ceramic on tiles, furniture heavily scuffed, bedding and towels greyed out. Cushions filthy and smelly, yet our chamber person did everything she could to make it welcoming, clean and beautiful towel art. Fridge was not restocked, except for water, thankfully !!! Elevators did not always work, when they did, they often did not stop level so this was a trip hazard. Entertainment (interior) area was not designed for entertainers so you could barely see the shows if you were anywhere further than the second or third row. These people try really hard to entertain and not always under the best conditions. Exterior entertainers (one of which we participated in) crossed boundaries in this period of hypersensitivity on Coronavirus and STIs. They were mimicking an aboriginal ritual and at one point, sprayed participants by putting liquids in their mouth and spraying us. That is totally unacceptable. So many diseases/infections transmitted through bodily fluids. I was shocked and officially complained !!! The food (especially deserts) at the specialty restaurants was often similar or same as the buffet but tasty nonetheless. The beachfront restaurant was very nice as it had all the food in covered display cases. Loved eating there right by the ocean. Booked an amazing private tour to Havana with our party of 6. Guide and driver were fun, knowledgeable, respectful and extremely proud to show us around. Very pleasant experience actually. Havana has had major restorations over the years since we had last been. Lots of opportunities to give to locals. Be sure to be clear on expectations because you can easily spend $20-30 pesos within 25 feet if you accept all offers of caricatures, musicians, etc... Above and foremost, Cubans are such warm and caring individuals, THAT was key and it made our vacation worthwhile. Would I go back to that resort? Likely not !!!

I’ll start with the food. It’s the number one reason this we stay this resort. For Cuba, that is hard find. Next is the staff. Always eager to meet your needs.😃 smiling and treating me like family. I always stay in the villas, so I don’t know what the rooms are like? The furthest villas are not very good, do to loud noise from service equipment and the views are not good. But all the others are great! Service staff are also very good! I was surprised the management, was hands on and always available for conversation. Not all days were tanning days, but all days were good days! I like the wide range of costumer ages and places of origin . We all seem to be there for the same reason. My next visit will be longer!!!

the rooms were very dirty there were cockroaches the air conditioning did not work they had to move from room 2 times, in the corridors we found several water leaks and the cleaning service of the rooms very bad do not change the towels and sheets daily very bad

Although the hotel is in need of some TLC you can see there is some work going on to improve things overall. However, my friend and I had a great stay at the hotel and enjoyed every minute of our stay there. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and already planning a return visit at the end of this year. L’hotel est propre, la plage très petite, la bouffe, c’est Cuba, faut pas trop en demander. Le personnel amical et serviable. L’animation est faible. Mes besoins primaires étaient comblés, bon lit, eau chaude, mais bouffe souvent froide. Est-ce que j’y retournerais, oui mais à très faible prix. Bonne vacance à vous!!!

Had an amazing time at bella costa stayed In bungslows, #754 the food was pretty good the lady who made ommlettes was amazing and towel guy was so friendly and cute I loved the resort...see yas in February..

Very unkept resort, Grass was 2’ long in places. I have 3 kids ages 4-9, there was no kids club operational, only one entertainment activity at 930 nightly with nothing during the day to entertain the kids or adults. Pool had no water in it for 10 of 14 days we were there. They did offer to switch us hotels but my family of 15 was with us and it was really difficult to keep us all together. This was my 2nd time to Cuba and the first time was a cheaper resort that was way better. Save your money with this place. That said some of the staff were amazing

Nice, impressive lobby. The staff was very friendly and courteous even with some of the tougher to please members of our group. There was 3 elevators but one never seemed to be in service. There was no out of service sign, it just seemed to not operate. We couldn't figure out the number of floors. The elevator had 7 floors plus the lobby but we only counted 5 from the outside. Go figure? The hallways were well light. On our floor, there were some bare wires hanging out of the wall. Just hanging there. Nice rooms. Mine was great. The patio was almost as big as the room. It had an awesome view of the ocean, palm trees and the pool. The only problem i encountered was the phone didn't work. I tried to call down to complain about the noise in the middle of the night, the phone was dead. The food sucked. It really had no flavour but that was all over Cuba. My rating would be 8* of 10

Bella Costa is definitely doing work to improve the resort. The grounds are kept up and beautifully maintained. We were out in the Villas and our room was amazing. This was our 14th year there and we love it. The beach is amazing and the food is great. That’s all we care about is beach, room, drinks and food. That’s all you need.

We have been there 7 times and love going every year. The rooms are clean and there is always lots of food to chose from. The beach is fabulous and there are lots of things to see and do while in Varadero. Our only disappointment this time was the hit and miss of the service in the restaurants. I would recommend anyone trying.

We have been to this resort 3 times. À lot of upgrades where made and it looks great. Iberostar bought Bella Costa and the staff said it is better to work with the new owners. We love that resort because of the staff we know. Also it's not far from Varadero. On a scale of 10 this resort is a 7. There is still more work to be done but they are working on it. We love the atmosphere of the lobby bar. We love the Cuban music players that plays at the bar. We enjoy the Xaxaphone and guitar player that plays at this resort. The food for us is great, no complaints. The beaches in Cuba are the best. We will go again to this resort for sure.

The hotel was great this year lots of changes, had a villa this year was very nice, the food was the biggest change great this year they even cooked a turkey what was very good looking forward to next year

This resort was really nice. A great location on the beach, good amenities, and the food was surprisingly good! Staff was really nice. Unfortunately they always ran out of mint for mojitos but the ones they did make were the best! The rooms itself were run down: ceiling caving in, bathtub had pain chipping, couldn't keep shower head standing up, water constantly running, soap was cheap and awful. I would come back again, but only if the rooms were nicer. Otherwise there are so many other resorts you can go to.

We were in the bungalo,s.Need a lot of repairs.Really nothing donne to them in all the years we have been going there.Patio doors in need of fixing,enamel peeling from bottom of tub,shower head bad shape.Owners are beginning to remodel hotel 5th floor is beautiful.So someday and a lot of work it will be really nice.We would still go back.Clean beds and the workers are very compassionate.They do their best with what they have to work with.

We felt like we were visiting family and they were doing everything they could to host us! Staff was always welcoming and polite. We loved the entertainment, the service and the food was fantastic! Can't wait to go back, will make it our "go to place!"

As repeat visitors to the island (13 trips between us), we'll preface our comments that this is essentially a still-developing 2nd-3rd world country. First time visitors should check their first-world problems at the airport and manage their expectations properly- this is not the Bahamas or Turks & Caicos. The Cuban people are always friendly & eager to ensure you have a great stay. Varadero's beach coastline is world-class beautiful & the water is crystal clear hundreds of yards out from shore - what more does one need to forget about winter for a week or two? ***** Bella Costa's renovations didn't interfere with our stay at all. All restaurants, pools, bars and jacuzzis were in full operation and staff were as friendly as we'd remembered from our stay in 2015. Perhaps the renos are keeping potential guests away as we learned that the hotel was only 25% full (we suspected one wing was completely closed for renos). This had its benefits as the pool & beach loungers were always available, and even the poolside cabanas - no need to reserve spots before 8am! It also showed at the restaurants where waits weren't long and there was ample staff on hand to attend every need. Anaisibis (sp?), our usual waitress at the buffet was always smiling & eager to speak with our 4 yr-old son, as were the rest of the employees. **** Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles & efficiency (and cocktails) and had our room upgraded without even asking. Our 5th floor gardenview room was in the main hotel, and we were happy with the accommodations & housekeeping (thanks Ydira(?)). Afterall, we only sleep & shower there anyway. Gardenview, btw, is also the more quiet side of the hotel if you wish to avoid all-day pool music & any outdoor evening entertainment noise. **** Many people comment after visiting Cuba that they weren't impressed with the food. We've never been disappointed and Bella Costa is at or near the top of our list for food quality (right with the 5 & 6 stars we've stayed at). The morning omelettes were delicious. Sandro at the evening buffet pasta station is an entertainer & an artiste. We were almost disappointed we couldn't order from him when we dined at the à la carte restaurants. Italian fare at Martino's was excellent and the pork ribs, beef tournedos and chicken/shrimp brochettes at the International were outstanding! Desserts everywhere were tasty. There's always something good to eat wherever we were. The bars? Generous pours at all of them, and mohitos were almost always available. ***** Bella Costa has seen better years but Iberostar is investing in better maintenance, improvements & upgrades throughout to rejuvenate it. We'll be booking again and will be anxious to see the many changes on our next visit. Muchas gracias Bella Costa! ****

I thought the beaches were wonderful as were the people. The service was excellent and the authentic. Everyone aimed to make the experience a good one. They had challenges however. Food needs work. Service of bathrooms and upkeep of toilet paper is required, but easy to fix with better systems. Coffee needs to be better, but again an easy fix. Property is older, but charming in many ways. Food - lots of improvement is needed, but not difficult. More vegetarian and fresh simple options would be appreciated.

Personnel at the Hotel Bella Costa are amazing, at the Coffe Lobby, in the Kitchen, the Towel Boy, everybody nice.... The Rooms are very confortable.. I like the food, I ate Fish, Shrimp and Local Fruit everyday and I was very happy, the Beach is marvellous and the Ocean water was refreshing

My recent Vacation trip to Bella Costa on Nov. 24th to Dec. 8th was not that pleasant as in previous years. I had booked this Trip a few weeks prior to departure.I received an E-mail 12 hours before departure from Tripcentral that there is Renovation being done which should be completed by Nov. 30th. I feel closing the Main-Buffet Restaurant at this time of the year was not such a good Idea. This should have been done in the Summer time. To have Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in an open air is not that pleasant. We had a few windy cold days to wear winter jackets. There a lot of other areas were Renovation work done. The 2nd and 3rd floor at the long wing was evacuated for repairs after 1 week. A lot of noise. was going on and dust flying around. If I would have been notified before I booked this trip than I would have not gone at this time. I still plan to go back to Bella Costa again next year.

Super amazing hotel! The people are wonderful and friendly. The beaches were beautiful and had lots of fun with family! There's lots to do there and entertainment is great. Can't wait to go again! 😀

The hotel is just okay because it is one of the oldest. Renovation won’t certainly hurts but beside this the beach is amazing! The food is average like anywhere else in other resort with 3 to 4 stars, we haven’t expected much. We were just pleased with the beach and the friendly staffs. However, there are a lot of people at lunch and dinner time and people are jumping into foods lack of manners can I say. The cafeteria is mostly overcrowded.

This was my second visit to the Bella Costa. I could not say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The beaches are truly awe strikingly beautiful. I am already planning for my next trip back in November .

I found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is in need of some repair, it looks like there has been zero upkeep over the years. The food was very very good, best I have had at a Cuban vacation spot. Clean towels, and water daily. Some of the guests I found to be disruptive, but overall the stay was fantastic.

It is a tired resort, however being in the suites off the hotel was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The food was pretty good, we had no issues with it but it was pretty consistent each day at the buffet. Italian á la carte was delicious. The beach was beautiful and the pool was nice. A lot of kids in the adult pool, and a fecal incident shut it down for an afternoon. The lobby bar was great, an evening favourite.

The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed meeting locals staying there there with their families. The beach was beautiful. The resort is older and in need of TLC. The pool liner needs to be replaced but it would be costly to do. It did not bother me or others that were in the pool. The only issues that was bothersome was the glasses at the buffet for juice etc were not washed with soap, just rinsed and were still dirty. Plates were just rinsed off. There was a staff member cutting ham in the buffet that was eating his dinner and was using SAME fork to cut the ham and put on our plates.

Was most impressed with our accommodations - rooms were clean, the food was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well groomed - entertainment was great and the beach was amazing. Sunny and hot everyday with a nice trade wind. Took some day trips - Havana, etc. Wonderful time!!

The Resort has recovert from the Tornado. The New Beach open Restaurant is better than before.But I notised that they bring in to many Cubans with to many Kids .No Mannors or Respect the Tourist which pay a lot of money to come hear..Hope it will improve with the New Management..

This was 11th time at this resort and we enjoy it every year. We look forward to going there. The spot is beautiful and all the workers are great and very helpful. The resort is laid out and everything is very accessible.

The rooms were dirty....especially the floor, your feet were black if you walked on it so I wore sandals the entire time. The beds were the only thing the room attendants touched...nothing was cleaned, water marks left on tables the entire time. Hit and miss with towels. I asked for a coffee pot on Monday and never did get one, so I couldn't make coffee. Coffee was only served at breakfast which didn't sit well with us Canadians. Room leaked from under the floor and down the walls in some rooms. Floor was flooded in one room. Heard the same comment from other guests as well. Food was digusting....tasted terrible and meat was full of gristle...couldn't even separate beef from the gristle....was uneatable unless you like greasy fat loaded beef. Glasses were dirty at times as well as dinner plates were not always clean. Cook at pasta table warmed pasta in a pan and from time to time would grab a dirty cloth (rag really) from under the counter and wipe the pan out and continue on ..not acceptable. I had a bun one morning with breakfast and I pulled it open and there was along hair in it. DISGUSTING....no more bread for the rest of the stay. Buildings were really in need of a facelift and walkways were cracked with holes here and there... I think you get the general idea regarding the resort. Staff at the front desk were useless...anytime you asked for something or needed anything it never happened. The desk kept our passports overnight which is NOT ACCEPTABLE....CANADIANS TRAVELLING MUST ALWAYS HAVE THEIR PASSPORTS ON THEM AT ALL TIME. In fact they lost one of our groups' documentation and she had to travel to Havana to the Embassy twice during the week to replace the document she needed to get back into Canada. This would not have happened if the passport was given back promptly on check in. No need to go on. Very dissatisfied with service but Cuba was a great place to visit and beach was beautiful... The grounds & beach were beautiful - could do with a little more flowers around the grounds. However, they have big plumbing problems - one friend was flooded out of her room upon arrival & phone didn't work. We were OK until our last night when the bathroom flooded completely & the sink plugged up. The hotel expected us to stay in the room for our final night & only moved us when we became aggressive - told them if we had to get up in the night to use the bathroom & slipped on the floor that we would sue them - they promptly found us a room. The front desk was very unfriendly when we approached them about another room!! Also, the phone didn't work due to bare wires on the end of the cord. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone & wouldn't return myself.

We truly had a wonderful vacation in Cuba. I had read many negative reviews about this hotel and was very surprised when I entered the room and saw my surroundings. It was clean and nice. There is work that needs to be done such as plumbing and new windows. There were no mosquitoes, no fleas and I didn't see any cockroaches roaming about. The pool and beach area are beautiful. The food was exceptional. I truly enjoyed eating in the outdoor area by the pool and overlooking the beach. This eating area is one of a kind. I've gone to many other resorts but none had an area quite like this. The 5th floor of this resort has been somewhat renovated and it's very, very nice. The cost for an upgrade is extremely reasonable per person. We had a wonderful vacation. Thank you to all the staff. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Everybody was super amazing, especially at the pool bar !! Stayed in a bungalow and it was awesome. Had a little seperate living room and then the main room and bathroom. Corner wrap around patio. All the restaurants had good food & the snack bar was awesome! The beach is amazing and very accessible! Overall loved my stay !!

the staff make this place! but the hotel is very old, the food is fair at best and the grounds aren’t really kept up! beach isn’t swept at night and the pool is rough bordering on unsafe- but the staff truly make this place!!!!

there were many issues with our hotel. The pictures online simply do not reflect the reality of this hotel. There were ants and lizards on my room, ceiling leaking , fridge not working . We only got water after complaining to the reception desk. The room didn’t look hygienic at all- bring shower shoes! In addition, though the entertainment team were extremely friendly , it didn’t follow the schedule , didn’t facilitate all the activities it published, and didn’t engage the guests very well. Don’t even get me started on the food. I nearly starved for the week- thank goodness for the snack bar and pasta- but a week of pizza and pasta isn’t worth the all inclusive . The staff didn’t make us feel welcome at all and service was awful . My suggestion?? Pay a bit more and enjoy a much more relaxing trip at a different resort .

Hotel was amazing. Food was better than expected. Bartenders and wait staff were so nice. Beach and pool were great along with other hotel amenities. Rooms were decent but did not matter because you are only there to sleep.

Last year, 4 of us vacationed at Hotel Bella Costa. Our expectations were passed with flying colours. We decided to return to Cuba with our children and grandchildren. Now the family has 8 people to please, ranging in age from 6 years-to 75years. Your resort, our excursions and Varadero managed to keep us entertained. The end of each day was the same, 8 tired happy vacationers. Each of us always found good food at every meal to our liking. Hard to believe how well the staff went out of there way to meet our needs and wants, with only a minor language barrier. The rooms and facilities were clean and well maintained. We all agreed the mattresses and pillows should be up graded (minor complaint). We are already planning to return and recommendBella Costa to others.

The wi -fi was limited but it was not an issue for me since I knew that it's how it works in Cuba. Great variety of food. Amazing pool. Great service everywhere. Great beach. I had an amazing time. Thank you trip central.

Bella Costa was terrific. I travel alone & was there two weeks ( jan 20-feb. 3) The weather was cooler 1st week. The Grounds were nice..5cucs to get the bus all day. Beatles bar downtown Varadero was great. Rented kool scooters 25cucs 3 hrs. When I was there I had a health scare...The staff, Nurse & Dr were amazing and took great care of me ...(I was travelling alone) The food was wonderful fresh & sooo much to choose from. The rooms needed some updateing. Thank You Tammy at Tripcentral 😎

The Bella Costa was probably one of the best resorts I've stayed at for a number of reasons. First - when staying in Cuba you have to know that there are a number of standards that may differ from what you expect. With that being said, the food at the Bella Costa was good. You won't go hungry and the fresh orange juice at breakfast was amazing! It's a smaller resort which I actually tend to enjoy. The room we stayed in in the Villas was amazing; clean, working A/C, 2 bathrooms, large bed, with a large balcony overlooking the ocean. The beach is gorgeous (though we only had a few days of sun to enjoy it - can't change the weather!) and the water is crystal clear. What really makes this hotel experience though is the staff. They care about their guests and really do truly seem to want to make the experiences amazing. Everyone is friendly and eager to help. Bartenders are good and - lets just say the drinks are not watered down like some places I've stayed! If you're on the fence, don't be. Negative reviews happen because people like to complain, and are used to the comforts of home. Even with limited services, poverty and everything that comes with it - Cuba is a wonderful country. The people are great in and out of the resort and the Bella Costa is one of the gems of Varadero.

We stayed at this resort last week and let me tell you- the rooms were fitly. The first day we walked in there was blood on one of the toilet seats. The bed sheets were dirty. We had to ask for the room to be cleaned and sheets to be changed. The room smelled like mold. The grounds were not safe- there was a lot of safety concerns especially with the pool area. I will never ever go to this resort again even if it was offered for. Dust all over the counters. The public bathroom near the lobbies were not working and not cleaned at all. You had to pick up several plates in the buffet area until you found a clean one. I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone.

My husband and kids like the hotel very much! The hotel just a little old. However, the food is good. The hotel is fare clean. The beach is very clean and good. Just public washrooms are not very good, sometimes run out toilet paper. My room hair dry is not working. There is a lot mosquito, my husband had a lot bit. The weather was cold when we were there. The trips are good too.

Hotel overview- common areas are nice, pool is fun but needs repair, rooms clean but need updating, lobby nice, restaurants good, renovations in progress, plumbing issues: leaking ceilings, water in hallways, foundation cracking, paint chipping, structure needs a complete overhaul Staff works hard to please guests, lobby bar for best coffee, beach restaurant for atmosphere and lobster, Japanese a la carte for tempura, champagne delivered for anniversary, varied pool activities, beach activities available.

Fantastic location. Beautiful beach. Lots of umbrellas and chairs available during high season. Winter is dry season, so we had 7 days of excellent weather. Staff are extremely hard-working and friendly, but hotel is understaffed and seemingly underfunded since being sold by Breezes, evidenced by the wait for clean dishes and food refills in the buffet (at least at high season) and the long list of repairs/deficiencies everyone seemed to be trying to manage with limited or minimal resources. For example - our sliding door to the balcony was stuck in the open position when we arrived. This resulted in many mosquitoes in our room and multiple bites every night throughout the week. Maintenance came and managed to close the door with a lot of effort, but then we had no access to the balcony for the rest of the week because the door was now jammed in the closed position. (I'm assuming we paid more for a balcony since there were rooms available without a balcony that were less expensive when we booked this trip.) He had no time to make the door functional, but added our room to a long list of rooms with other deficiencies. We also reported our hair dryer not working and our TV not working all week.The AC did not have a working temperature control - either on very cold or off. We put it on during the night and slept in our warm clothes from the plane. The hotel needs updating badly. Our rooms had moldy chairs and blankets that did not seem to have ever been washed. I had blood on my sheets from killing mosquitoes from the first night and slept on the same blood-stained sheets all week. I asked for a flatter pillow and was told by reception that there were no more pillows available in the whole hotel, so I switched with my sister. They told me that my pillow was so high because it was new and the foam had not been compacted yet, but when I changed the pillowcase to give the pillow to my sister, it was horribly stained, so if that was a new one, I shudder to think about the state of the older ones. The enamel on our tub was significantly peeling off in big chunks and there was a lot of black mildew in the bathrooms. We had a hole in the ceiling panels of the bathroom, covered with a spider's web, which we were hoping had a spider that was eating some of the mosquitoes. I made the mistake of trying to kill a mosquito on the bedside lamp and we were engulfed in a thick cloud of dust that came off the lampshade. There were repairs going on due to the hurricane damage, so the beach bar and the beach buffet were not available to us, but will be beautiful once finished. The maid was wonderful and did what she could to clean up but this is not even a basic 3 star hotel...it is a 3 star hotel that needs much more than TLC. We mentioned to the Air Transat rep on site (who lives in this hotel) that Tripcentral had rated this hotel a 4 star and she was shocked. She said it was definitely a 3 star hotel and rated so in the Air Transat brochure. She recommended that we stay in the bungalows because they were in significantly better shape than the hotel rooms. This was confirmed by several other guests that we spoke to who rated the hotel rooms as 2 star with many maintenance issues. She spoke to her manager and Air Transat sent over a bottle of champagne and gave us $75 to spend on the plane because they felt bad that their package deal had been misrepresented by Tripcentral. I acknowledge that this is not entirely Tripcentral's fault as many of the reviews are rating this hotel highly. But if Air Transat is rating it as a 3 and Tripadvisor is rating it as a 3, maybe Tripcentral should take that into consderation to avoid unhappy customers like me, who now feel that Tripcentral's rating system is not credible. There is lots of evidence that staff and management are trying to update this hotel slowly, starting with the public areas like the beach and lobby. If they ever get around to the rooms, maybe this will be a nice hotel again, but folks rating it a 5 star hotel because they feel a connection to the people here or are sensitive to their plight, are doing travelers a disservice and are also making it harder for the staff who have to deal with disgruntled customers. When travelers expecting a 5 star hotel come here, they are very disappointed and many people we spoke to expressed this to management via the survey given at the end of the week. People who came with low expectations did not have many complaints, so it's important and considerate for all for reviewers to give the truest representation of the hotel. There will always be people who will choose this hotel and love it, but we will not return again (we were at this same hotel 20 years ago also), despite having a good experience with the staff and the manager of public relations who is a consummate professional and genuinely lovely person with the best intentions. We only have so much vacation and we would rather pay more and get a hotel that is not so run-down. We suggest Blau Varadero, where we went 2 years ago which exceeded our expectations for Cuba.

My family and I were very disappointed during our vacation at Bella Costa. The hotel was rundown and the building looked like it was about to crumble at the seams. Our rooms were covered in mold and dirt, beds included. The food was inconsistent, with the best meal coming on Christmas Eve. The two saving graces of this hotel were the beach and the excellent hard-working staff. I would never come back unless serious changes were made to Bella Costa. I am also very upset that the representatives at Trip Central misrepresented the hotel as they rated it a 4 star hotel when in reality, it is barely a 3. Not happy with one rep in particular who told us to “just enjoy it” when we asked to switch hotel. This trip put a damper on the good weather and fantastic scenery of Varadero, thanks in large part to the incompetence of Trip Central.

We just returned from Bella Costa last week and had mixed feelings about the whole experience. The beach and staff are amazing and the food and drinks ranged from great to mediocre, depending on the day and the availability. Unfortunately despite the very hard working staff, the hotel itself is in need of much updating and repair. The rooms needed some freshening up in terms of beds, pillows, furniture, towels, TV's etc. Management tried hard to remedy whatever they could and it was much appreciated that the Air Transat rep and the hotel management sent letters of apology for what we complained about regarding our stay...all in all an up and down experience but not sure we would return unless there was some significant updating of the basics...again cannot say enough about how great the staff was and how they worked tirelessly to cater to all the tourists...Beach was gorgeous too and when we were there they had just finished repairing outdoor eating area which also looked amazing. Rooms are the main concern and if they freshened them up and did some basic repairs then we may consider returing to Bella Costa again.

The hotel grounds were very good, there was a lot of construction going on repairing damage from Hurricane Irma, they did their best not to interfere with the comfort of the guests. The rooms and exterior could use some updating but everything was acceptable to our tastes. The food was good and the a la carte's were excellent. Great service from staff all round, made our holiday wonderful. Guests need to remember this is Cuba and they do the best with what they have.

This was my sons first trip and he is 12. We met great people on the flight, bus and while checking in. He made excellent friends. The resort was great for kids as not huge so kids could easily be found when off playing. Lots of activities to do especially with all the water sport equipment. Famiilies all enjoyed the staff taking them out on cataramans for small tip to go out and enjoy snorkeling. The beach was beautiful. No one went hungry as always drinks and food available. Great cheap vacation. If your looking for an expensive resort it’s not but it was enjoyable. The renevatoons continue and I’m sure it will amazing when completed but never felt like an intrusive construction zone.

Even thought they had the worst hurricane in history only 2 months ago this resort was up and running great. There was some construction going on to repair the damage but did not interfere with our vacation. We were told not to expect good food in Cuba but this resort had amazing food, I even gained 10 lbs in a week. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My wife is diabetic and can't drink regular pop so the staff went out of their way to make sure she had diet pop to drink. They upgraded us at no cost to a villa and it was beautiful.

Was there in July-they have had a 'cyclone' since. Now there Nov 25-30. But there was no difference except one restaurant being damaged. Food is very good, being Cuba. Lots of fruit, veg, coffee meats and bread. People are very friendly and helpful. Dairon at the front desk knew my name and always said hi. Mayi at the pool bar was friendly fast and informative. Tania, the bingo/entertainment person was so funny-she needs more bingo cards because people loved playing with her!! I had a problem with my room and the customer service woman (sorry I forget her name) went out of her way to help me get a new room in a timely fashion. A lovely week

Had a fantastic week at the Bella Costa. Staff are wonderful! Food was plentiful and so good. The room we were in does need updating but I'm sure that will get done when they are able. The beach was beautiful and they were hard at work rebuilding the beach restaurant.

Food was decent, beach was amazing. The hotel is run down and not well maintained. for example, the pool was awful. Water was too chlorinated and the pool liner was falling apart...the bottom of the boot was all hilly...the patio doors do not lock and access to doors from the outside are fairly easy. Every guest that we spoke to had the same issue with their patio doors. The TV and DVD player were p[provided in the room but neither one was functional. There was a mini fridge in the room which was never stocked. and not functional either. Half the lamps and or light bulbs did not function. After complaining light bulbs were installed over the week and by the 4th or 5th day we were there we had the majority of the bulbs changed. The bathtub drain was clogged and we had to shower with water up to our ankles. The rooms had a moldy smell...The beds were hard and small. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and did not really cool down the room. At least the safe and door locks worked. We booked an ocean view room and paid extra for this but what we really got was a pool view and after complaining we were told that this was an ocean view. I stayed at this resort 20 years ago and had an ocean view room with the actual view of the ocean and not the pool. After complaining the front desk told us the hotel was booked and could not change our room. I have been travelling to Cuba for the past 20 years and have always enjoyed myself despite the lower quality of food and the lack of luxury that you may find with hotels in non-Cuba destinations. One reason is the staff at the hotels, who are usually friendly and provide good service. This was my first experience where the majority of the staff was rude to the guests. One issue could have been that there were many local Cubans staying at the hotel as guests. It was apparent that the staff was giving priority to the local Cubans as guests. The staff at the snack bar was rude to my daughter and her friend (both girls were 11 and 8 years old respectively). Trying to get a drink at the bar was frustrating. With the exception of one or two bartenders in lobby bar, the majority of the bartenders, waitresses purposely served the local Cuban guests and would leave the regular guests waiting as long as they could get away with it.. On one or two occasions, we noticed that the maids did not replace the towels in the room. They simply took the wet and dirty towels off the bathroom floor and hung them up to dry. Some friends that we met on vacation, who spoke Spanish, overheard the staff making fun of and insulting the guests for a variety of reasons not knowing that the guests spoke Spanish. There were many staff that realize their are issues with the hotel and, although they appeared to go out of their way, there appeared to be many more that really just didn't care. Although this is not the worst resort that I have been to in Cuba, it does rank low and I would suggest not going to this resort unless you can get a very good deal. Absent the rude staff, I would give this resort a 3.5 star....however, considering that the staff is a vital component to making your stay nice, I cannot justify such a high rating.

It was my 3rd time this summer that I went to enjoy a weekend a Bella Costa with friends and family. This is my general review; Hotel: Needs loving and renovating. The service is generally pleasant. We love the fact that locals and foreigners and co-vacationing together, we all have to learn from one another´s culture! Food: Generally OK not better not worst than any other 4*. We must say that the service in general needs to be revised and Buffet team needs to be coach. Understanding that the hotel sometimes gets really packed, but it remains unacceptable for an institute of CUSTOMER SERVICE that it regularly lacks glasses, plates and that we need to wait more than 10 minutes for a simple omelette or a pasta dish... THE SERVICE at THE BUFFET NEEDS TO BE THOROUGHLY REVISED. Beach: Beautiful and well kept, but we keep on wondering why there is NO BAR at the beach... Pool: The hotel should really invest into changing the lining. It is almost shameful to have a pool bottom in such bad state. It clashes with the rest of the nice ground and garden around. Really, this should be looked into as a top priority. We will definitely go back to Bella Costa, because we understand that we get what we pay for.

All was great except the room was a bit moldy and we could smell it. The bathroom they could use a cleaning product or vinegar. The beach there was absolutely beautiful and the people there were so friendly.

So the hotel room I paid for was an ocean view, I got a pool view instead. Everything in the room was malfunctioning- a.c , fridge, hair dryer, toilet was leaking water , sink was also sinking water. I didn't receive clean towels everyday or new water bottle in my room. The hotel staff made us not feel welcomed there! They were very rude and terrible at customer service! They would make all the foreign tourists wait until serving all the local customers. They were making fun, talking bad about tourists in their language which I completely understand and speak also- They obviously didn't know that. Food was alright but always the same selection. Not very fresh One guy from a particular restaurant would pick his nose right before handing us our food! The beach was great but the pool wasn't very clean and would also close early for "maintenance "which didn't help much. The entertainment, was horrible !! Everything in Spanish , lots of Spanish music, the very little games played were also all played in Spanish with the locals. Tourists didn't feel very welcome. A few people I met from Canada also had the same opinion as me. They were very disappointed

The hotel is a nice place to go and the beach is very nice The staff is super and Especially The Pasta chef Sandro who does a mazing job He takes time to Acknowlege every one and makes your dinning experience good with his good pasta Is a family resort and everyone always has a nice time You meet some very nice guest at this hotel

Hi, we had a great time at this hotel, we upgraded to a villa style room for $15 extra per night and had the most amazing view of the ocean. We spent time feeding the cats and dogs, they basically starve until they are fed and in the summer months it's mostly Cubans at the hotels and they never feed the starving animals. The beach was great, my only complaint is that we didn't get to have the special dining, because every time i tried to make a reservation they were already booked! The music was great.

This resort is not a 4 star resort, maybe a 2. we did not know that this place was run by the Cubans, the locals take over this place, they are rude and ignorant, they bud in front of you, pile their plates with food leaving crumbs, and they don't replenish the food. They don't change the linen on the tables, never any clean plates or cutlery. There is hardly any air conditioning, resort is littered with plastic cups. The pool is a joke, the locals take over, plastic cups floating in the pool, lining is lifting and you can see mould. Lobby is not air conditioned,its so hot, it smells musty. the only nice thing about this place is the beach, thats it. The people that own this place should be ashamed of themselves, they take no pride in this place. Don't waste you hard earned money on this dump.

Hope reading this review will help others in selecting their next vacation. Airport transfer went well, $5 for 2 Beers. Check in at resort is at 3pm. This resort does not offer free wifi, wifi cards are sold $1.50 per 1 hour. This is a Cuban owned resort, A lot of locals visit this resort, with a higher percentage of locals visiting in July/August. Locals Cubans are rude, they do not stand in line, they bud to the front of line, they make themselves priority. Around the pool, in shaded areas, they reserve entire tables and chairs although most of the day their families are in the pool. The pool is filled with chlorine to the point of you smelling the chlorine. The beach is wonderfull. The Hop on Hop Varadero beach tour bus off bus stop is about 30 minute walk from resort. Don't waste your hard earned money going here, go elsewhere!

my travel agent spoke highly of this resort, and we walked in with expectations: 1. the room looked old and needed serious renovation. the ceiling look like it was ready to crumble and fall. the light fixtures would occasionally function. the beds felt like stuffed hay. the blankets and pillow sheet were never replaced. I requested two towels because I had to attend dinner at a certain time, so we waited four hours til we received our towels. I had to call three times. very aggravating. 2. the elevators were slow and need serious repairs on the air conditioning and ventilation. people were constantly complaining about how stuffy and hot it was inside the elevator 3. the main lobby and bar lounge was very uncomfortable because of no air condition. the weather outside was extremely hot during the day and evening. people again were complaining about the lack of air circulation and cool condition in the building. 4. the food was bland, no real flavour, and was basically the same meal in the morning and evening. the food service was slow and unorganized. 5. the beach, pool and bar area was the only exciting part of the resort and its outdoor activity, however, the area was mostly populated by families with kids, we were hoping a little peace and adult surrounding. we spent almost our whole trip outside the resort. overall, I would not recommend anyone this resort. scale 1-10, I give it a 4.5

We just got back from our vacation in Varadero at Hotel Bella Costa. There were 2 adults and 2 children- 17 and 7 years old. If you are not too picky with the hotel and you like the beach, then Hotel Bella Costa is for you. It's our second time in Varadero so we knew what to expect there. The hotel is in need of a complete renovation. There were lots of ants in the room. Then a major problem occurred, on our third day at the hotel, the ceiling in the bathroom started to leak immensely. We phoned right away and Magaly (I think she is the reception manager) moved us to another room but on the opposite side of the hall. So from room 516 to room 509. It had a better garden view and a bit of the ocean view! The food was better than the previous hotel that we went to last year. We were actually surprised! We loved to eat lunch at El Mirador because of the amazing view, food and staff- especially Angelo who did an excellent service and made lunch time something to look forward to! We had breakfast at Jimmy's, it was ok. Be early because if not, you have to wait in line for at least 10 minutes for the omellette or if you want to toast your bread. If you want mango juice, you also have to be there early. Dinner at Jimmy's was good because of the pasta guy, we did not get his name, but he makes really good pasta! The Ala carte/restaurants was ok. We enjoyed the Cuban (El Mirador) dinner the most! The Japanese (Munasan) and Italian (Martino's) were ok. Alicia's snack bar makes amazing pizza! For our last day, we had to check out at 12 noon but we asked if we could extend our stay since we were going to get picked up at the hotel at 6pm because our flight was at 9pm. They did not agree but gave us a complimentary room, at no extra cost, so that we can still swim and do whatever we want at the hotel until we leave. That was a plus! We did not use the kids club because my 7-year-old just wanted to stay with us at the beach. But we saw it was open. We did not stay at the poolside because it was so busy and loud! We would like to thank Angelo (El Mirador), Magaly, Hanoi, Ruben and Alberto (lobby bar), Javier the guard and Pablo (the bell boy) for making our stay at Hotel Bella Costa memorable.

Remember this is Cuba. Known for friendly people and okay food. So all were friendly and helpful. But this resort is in need of an update. Pro-the beach!! Clean beautiful white sand. You can always get a chair at the pool or the beach. Lots of alcohol. Lots of food and this time, tons of fruit and veg. The front desk staff got things done-the power went out and the electrician was up in 10 minutes. The bar staff was overworked but fast and friendly. Coffee at the bar was fantastic Con- the pool though clean, the lining was lifting and buckling. The housekeeping staff were sporadic-more often than not, the bed was not made we had no towels or toilet paper. If you called down they never came through but if you went to the front desk, they fixed things. The air conditioner was weak. Lots of Cubans staying at the resort and lots of children having a great time. as I said just okay

With the change in ownership from Breezes to Hotel, the place is not maintained like it once was and is looking rundown. You don't go to Cuba for the food but Bella Costa the food was actually pretty good. However both the quality is now poor and virtually no selection. The main dinning buffet restaurant is closed down and all meals are at the beach bar. The same food is recycled meal to meal. Our room was fine, the maid was awesome. always had fresh towels, linens and the room cleaned. However, service from the other staff was hit and miss. Definitely not the same. Of course the beach is awesome. Rumour is the place is up for sale; confirmed by executives types in a group examining the place. Bottom line, stay away and pick another resort.

The main building and rooms need major work. The public bathrooms on most days did not have toilet paper, which left you using paper towel if there was some or having to make a run for your room. The weather, beach, outdoor dining areas and staff where great. Location of resort was fantastic. Would only return if they did renovations.

it's a very beautiful place surrounded by sandy beaches. The food is good and available any time. The staff is friendly and helpful. Almost everyone speaks English. Golf course, main roads, bus stops are conveniently located. We would recommend this hotel to all our friends.

This hotel is great for families and singles alike. There is a fun atmosphere due to the wonderful staff. The hotel is in need of some repair, in particular the outdoor stage should be fixed so that people can enjoy the beautiful nights while watching the nightly show. We found the food to be quite good, especially breakfast and lunch. The BBQ at lunch is fantastic! Dinner can be hit and miss. Yes the pool liner is a bit off, but it serves the purpose of cooling off and is great for kids. A key for us was that the resort is situated close to the beach with stunning views. Based on the price we would recommend this resort.

We stayed at the Bella Costa resort for 4 nights, having bought an affordable last minute deal. The hotel was very busy, so it was well staffed and service was good. Finding a seat at the buffet, though, was not always easy. Food and drinks were pretty standard, there wasn't too much variety. It was fine for 4 days, but you may get pretty tired of the menu if staying for a week. The hotel itself is very old, they do their best to maintain it, but it still shows. The beds were uncomfortable, the rooms had a smell, the walls were cracking everywhere. This is our fourth time in Cuba, so for the price we paid we knew exactly what we were getting, and were willing to look past it all for a couple of days on the beach. If you are looking for a resort with comfortable and beautiful accommodations, delicious food and crisp towels, I would not recommend this place.

This was our fourth stay at the Bella Costa. The staff are very friendly. I found the food quite good and options have improved since our last visit with the addition of an outdoor 'cafeteria' and an outdoor barbecue. Facilities are clean but starting to show some wear, e.g. the outdoor stage is so badly warped that all shows are now inside the building at the disco. Hopefully they fix the stage soon as we always enjoyed watching the shows outdoors. We stayed in a Family Suite which has a spacious living room, balcony and 2-pc bathroom on the main floor and two large bedrooms​, each with its own full bathroom in an upper loft. This was a fantastic room for our group (my husband and two children and our inlaws). Beach is beautiful. Pool is also nice. Lots of daily activities at the resort hosted by the 'animacion' team. Great value for your money!

When I enter the resort I was disappointed because we booked with travel agent and she said it was great, we were more disappointed when we enter our room on second floor. Our friends were on first floor and wanted to go to another resort but they put them on the second floor. This resort is old and the rooms should have make over. If you get it for good price and don't care what rooms are like you can put up with the rest of resort. Gardens are lovely, beach is good and the food will you'll never starve to death. I had problem with bird poop on all chairs in dining room so I did mention it the last day we were there so hopefully they clean the chairs,,,there's no need of bird poop on chairs when half the time the waiters and waitresses are standing around talking but that's Cuba. I don't think I would go back unless I stayed in the villas with were nicer then the hotel.
