Celebrity Cruise lines is rated five star by many leading cruise authorities, and the best dining experience in the mass market classification. It had its beginning as the completely revamped Chandris line, with the introduction of its first ship, the Horizon, and its sister ship, the Zenith. In order to differentiate themselves, a heavy focus on haute cuisine, and the award winning recipes of master chef Michel Roux, Celebrity consistently cleaned up the awards for the best dining experience. Growth continued with the addition of larger, sleeker, state of the art, modern mega ships such as Century, Mercury and Galaxy. These ships offered well appointed cabins, contemporary décor with a heavy use of glass and soft pastel colours, creating an excellent five star cruising experience. Upgraded and modernized entertainment, combined with the fabulous Aqua Spa, gave guests an outstanding cruise experience. The retractable roof over the ship's rear pool area, also made for a first in cruising the Alaska market on the ms Mercury. The guests, who will feel most comfortable on Celebrity, are those who enjoy chic, modern, French Bistro-style dining, and the décor to match. The space ratio (number of guests divided into the gross tonnage) is higher than average, meaning less crowded public rooms, and less lineups. The staff on board is from all over the world, however a heavier Eastern European contingent makes the chemistry a little different than on other lines. You'll find this crew not only efficient, with excellent work ethic, but also well educated, often with post secondary degrees. Royal Caribbean International took over the Celebrity brand, and the positive aspects of the Celebrity brand were not only kept, but enhanced, with the addition of new ships, (Infinity, Millennium, Summit, and the Constellation), meaning even more Celebrity quality cruising worldwide.
