We had an extremely enjoyable stay at the Starfish Grenada Resort. The staff was on the whole helpful and efficient. The major advantages of this resort were the location to the airport, the stunning beach and the amazing, picture perfect sunsets. This resort will be even better once the renovations to the Royalton brand are completed. Thank you Rick for making this booking.

A nice resort just minutes from the airport. The two beaches are beautiful however because of rocks only the northern beach is really suitable for swimming. Lots of shade and chairs so you are not fighting for them. The food although good was not of a great variety. A lot of repeats so got boring pretty fast. We were surprised that there was not more of a variety of fruit offered being a sub tropical island. Overall we were please and had a good vacation. They are undergoing renovations soon so things will be even better.

This is our second visit to the starfish resort and hopefully not our last. The hotel is very close to the airport within walking distance the rooms are clean. The people at this resort are very friendly and hopefully they will be back when the hotel reopens Hopefully the pricing will be affordable when the resort opens in december

Starfish Grenada, great resort! Travelled as a couple. Great location and friendly and efficient staff, very accommodating and willing to assist in any way. Hotel was clean, food was great, beach was beautiful and location couldn't be better, less than five minutes from the airport. Grenada is a beautiful island and friendly Grenadians! Will definitely consider another visit to this resort! T&MM

I really enjoyed Starfish/Rex resort! Great food - 2 restaurants to enjoy your regular meals( 1 oriental a-la-carte restaurant), clean room (bed, towels, floors - daily), friendly staff (with smile, politness, and fun), beautiful beach (turcoise water, trees for shade, chaise lounges available), nice pool area (canopy beds, bar and restaurant, excellent view, but only 4 feet deep the pool - as a little minus) and...amazing little country. I recommend anyone to take Jamboulay tour with Michael as guide :-).Entertainment was good enough for a resort that is to close for renovation in a month. The DJ played any song you told him too, so I danced a lot ;-). Don't wait to book this!!!

Just returned from Starfish and just want to thank all the amazing staff and Chris Forbes.It was my husbands birthday and they surprised him with a Birthday cake and bottle of champagne in our room.The location is the best on this island.We would highly recommend the full day island tour through Air Canada.Our driver was Dexter and he was amazing.This man was so knowledgeable about everything on the island from folklore and superstition to history and flora.He even found a plant called a sensitive plant? When you touch it gently it closes up. Beach is beautiful and food delicious! I hope we can return again when it reopens as Royalton!

When we arrived in Grenada, we where taken into the terminal, at that time, given a declaration from to fill in.. 200 passengers looking for a place to sit, on the floor, to fill this in, should have been handed out on the plane to fill in, would have saved a lot of time. Got to the hotel, had 3 lines to stand in by your last name, to check in. We finally got yo the counter, and where told our room would not be ready for an hour.. but have us time to grab a bite to eat. Room, grounds were clean.fantastic views.what amenities we used, where clean and in newer condition. Food, another story . Did not have a "hot meal", all luke warm at best. Limited choices Met sunwing rep, went through the programs/ excursions. Knew her stuff, but forgot to mention, everything was shown in $us and would be converted to Caribbean currency@a 2.75 exchange rate. Was a shock when I paid, expected to be paying 146 us and card was charged 390. Did not catch this immediately , did later, took 2 days to track another rep down to have explained dhat they did. We did the fusion tour, and our guide Glenn, was a wealth of knowledge and we had a blast with him on both trips we did. We felt we were an inconvenience trying to tip the staff, they where pleasant enough, but where made to feel we where bothering them, trying to give them a tip... who knows.. maybe were not suppose to? Saying that.. if you did not tip the bar staff... good luck trying to get another drink brought to you. Over all, had fantastic weather, was with my spouse and we had a great time. Will go back again, if nothing else to see what changes the royalton will implement and what they are going to construct... if the pricing doesn't go through the roof.

We were a little disappointed. We knew the hotel was closing soon but they we out of food at different meals. They asked if we were celebrating an event and then forgot 3 birthdays in our group of 12. My friends partner had spoken to then twice they assured him there would be cake, champagne and balloons. They eventually brought out 1 bottle of champagne for 12 people and 3 slices of banana bread. A party the night before got a lovely cake, balloons and champagne. The grounds were desolate and brown and the gardens were dead. They ran of of drink mixes and alcohol daily. We were short towels or face cloths or hand towels every day. We were on a floor that a cricket team was on. 10-12 year old boys mostly unattended by there coaches. Up at 6 am running around, yelling from balcony to balcony before there breakfast. So we were unable to sleep in. They were back by 4pm when we would be trying to have an afternoon rest when they charged in . I asked reception if the 6 if us on that floor could be moved and she explained there were no vacancies unless we wanted to up grade. I realize we got a deal but did expect a little more than a 2 star hotel. I also had to call for bedside lamps in the room as the ceiling light was the only light in the room No lamps. The brought us 2 when I called. Over all the resort is in separate need of major make over. We made our own good time with our group of 12. Made the best of it. Sunwing also ran out of food o the way there. :(

Would highly recommend visiting this resort, the beaches are stunning, food was tasty, rooms are clean and beds are comfy, staff was welcoming and friendly, and the island of Grenada is a must see very picturesque!

My husband and I loved our stay at this resort in Grenada. It was the most relaxing atmosphere we've ever experienced. The grounds are LOVELY, with beautiful gardens, a pond, and two beaches with breath-taking views. We especially loved the pavilions in the pool area, and the on-site snorkelling. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The food was good, although we would have loved even more Grenadian cuisine options. Our room was comfortable and clean. Overall, I would say this resort is amazing value for money.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Starfish. We had a room overlooking the beach. You couldn't be closer to the ocean, the waves lapping soothingly all night. And yes we had our patio door open, no bugs at all. There is a constant warm breeze. The snorkling off the coral reef right in front of the hotel is wonderful. There is a happy sense of calm. The staff are excellent, the food very good. We were impressed by the relaxed but dignified islanders who were welcoming everywhere we went. Our guide on the island tour was very good at his job, super informed and efficient at getting us around the various sites, all very interesting. The hotel is changing hands and upgrading, which it will definitely benefit from. However it will probably attract a different clientele, and cost a lot more.Hopefully they will keep the same staff, they couldn't do much better. There were a few vendors on the beach, but they were not a nuisance at all. Grenada is a gem if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday. We felt completely safe all the time.

The Starfish (Rex) was once a beautiful resort and still holds much of its charm. I would give it a solid 3 stars and at the price for Grenada I would highly recommend this resort. Food selection at the buffet was limited but we ate everything on our plates each meal. The BBQ night was the best. The stir fry and chow mien at the a la cart were as good as we'd get at home. The wine we had there was an Italian red from the Veneto, and quite good. The booze selection was poor, even the premium stuff which was at an additional cost was limited. The blender drinks were top quality, real juice not syrups. Two local beers, both quite good. The beach was very nice and the snorkeling right off the beach was very good. We did experience a few issues with our room (due to the age and need for renovations) which were quickly resolved. If you're not expecting 5 star service and amenities, this place may be right for you. We loved it. Get a taxi, rent a scooter or go on a tour and see the island.

loved the hotel & the people are amazing..Food was delicious..Room was a little dated but we knew that going in..Very clean.Only complaint I had were the stairs..Loved Grenada!! Hopefully will be back..

There were 5 of us that went and all of us had a great time , the only thing that we all said that the stairs were a bet much. The food was good and rooms were clean, the staff was excellent. We did have so much fun.

Our room was right in front of the ocean. We slept with no air conditioner to hear the ocean waves. We snorkeled everyday right from our room 30 feet away. The room was clean, I loved the furniture and colors. You can tell it wa an older building only from the hallways outside and stairs. I loved it for being small and not many people. The entertainment was fabulous also. The buffet food was incredible for a 3 star I would have not expected that. the restaurant wasn't as good as the buffet. The staff was very helpful and kind. Thank you so much Laura Mulvihill-Spry from trip central for making this experience happen.

Surroundings are second to none! The Hotel rooms comfortable and clean. Service was good, food not to many options, but we did not bather about that. At least the ones provided were very tasty! Must confess the hotel itself needs some work to live up to its expectations...

We first visited Starfish Grenada in January 2014 (then known as The Rex by Grenadian Resorts) and had a great time. Our recent trip was another fabulous stay. The grounds and rooms are immaculate, the beach pristine, the staff friendly and accommodating, the food good to excellent (especially the homemade ice cream). It's not a 5 star, but it's an exceptional 3 star. If we can afford it after it is upgraded this year to a 5 star Royalton resort, we will definitely be back!

We were very impressed with this resort. The staff, the facilities, the entertainment, the food were all amazing. We did a tour through the Air Canada agent and our tour guide Michael was knowledgeable, accommodating and funny. At the resort, the bartender by the pool( AJ) was good at what he did and very personable. Stacey at the restaurant was lovely. We remember their names but all of the staff were polite and caring. We would go again but I am to understand it is changing ownership and uncertain what that means for the future. The Morels and Shamus Leckie

This resort was good value for the money I paid. It is closing in two months and with that in mind was still good. The spot is amazing and lots to do on the island. The beach is beautiful but not suitable for young children because the water is rough.

Negatives: Wifi on and off a ton, and only available on half the resort. No entertainment. Very slow service. Attitude from staff. Tiny Pool , max depth was 4ft. No bottled water Room was not serviced until 3pm most days. Positives: Decent food most nights. Beach on the right side of the pool much better than the left. Pool although small probably have it all to yourself .

Stayed 1 week and overall had a great time. Hotel clean and comfortable. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Gorgeous beach, but sea was rough. Food was average, quite repetitive. Air Canada lost my luggage on the way home and 2 days later still haven't located it.

Property and location are second to none. Hotel needs updating. Food was tasty but lacking in variety at diners. View is breathtaking. Ocean is clear and safe. Massage on the beach was amazing. We would return.

We enjoyed our 2 wk vacation at Starfish Grenada! Our room was very clean and the bed was so comfy! Could use new pillows as they were a bit lumpy. The food was always prepared to satisfy your hunger and looked fresh! Fish was amazing! The location was exceptional with gorgeous views from every angle! The staff were very friendly and so helpful! All the locals were so nice! Would love to go back!

This resort is overall a great resort, great grounds, views, beautiful beach, very nice staff that are very polite and helpful. you can see that rooms are dated but its not big deal.food is decent too

The "spice island" is a beautiful place to visit. Unfortunately this hotel is upgrading so closing down in May. It will not longer be an affordable hotel when it becomes the Royalton. This is unfortunate as they really don't need another high end hotel with posh amenities when you can enjoy this beautiful place as it is. The Grenadians are great kind people and will be sad to loose this lovely relaxing place to the upscale unnecessary additions.

We are usually 5 star resort fun lovers,but this time we came because our 4 best freinds invited us to join them at star fish resort.what a pleasant surprise this hotel was ,it’s not a 5 star but it’s better than a 4 star Cuban resort! The staff and people on the Island are terrific,food and rooms are great more variety would of been nice ,like grilled cheese and chicken fingers at the bar restaurant.The beach and water were just what we needed and were looking for,beautiful ,sandy and blue water nice! On very spacious and well kept property grounds there is plenty of room for everyone. A 10 minute taxi ride to Grand Anse beach and 15 or so to St Georges for a nominal fee. Clean and comfortable rooms with comfy beds. If you are not loooking for upscale cuisine the food is more than adequate for the price. Some nightly entertainment being just enough to not be annoying. The choice of two different beach atmospheres is a plus. But the raised pool setting with the view is second to none. An affordable way to explore Grenada.

The Starfish in Grenada was a really unique resort. It was clean and very well run. We found the food great and the entire place was well organized. It is a sprawling place and that made it great to get a bit of exercise. The beach was fantastic with 30 degree weather everyday but not feeling hot because of the beautiful breeze off the ocean. We dined down the beach at a restaurant called "The Aquarium". Simply amazing food. Definitely got a thumbs up from us at the Starfish!

Beautiful beach and area.the people of this country are the best. The food was very good.every night it was a little different. Entertainment was a dj but one night was steel drum .no booze in the main building until 3 but you could go to the beach 4 it.good booze was 7.50 us.clean rooms.chris the manager was the best.peter dragon drove us around the island and a must to go with him on this journey. Tell him the big guy sent you.no mosquitoes .

Starfish Grenada Resort was clean and rooms were decent size. The buffet restaurant was the only dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests need to bring a personal water bottle and can have it filled at the bar or buffet restaurant as no bottled water is on the resort.

Grenada is a fabulous place with beautiful vistas and wonderful people. The starfish resort was a great place to see the island from; 5 minutes away from the airport and 20 minutes away from Grand Ance beach it is located on te Caribbean side of the south portion of the island. The hotel was clean nd while dated and in transition the staff are friendly and helpful. Ask for what you want. The food is good while not offering a wide variety was always well prepared. The deserts and fruit selections were scant. The hours and locations of the bars and restaurants are not as convenient as they could be. The GM Chris is very involved in the customer service and greyed is when we arrived and was on hand for our departure.

We loved the large beautiful spacious property, the older design, the homey, friendly feel and staff. It was clean and beautifully kept. The food was absolutely perfect. Fresh, local, well use of each day’s supply. We loved the authentic wholesome nourishing preparations with no preservatives or ‘American’ over processing. The dining room and lounge were lovely with the breeze blowing through. The salt water lagoon was definitely an added surprise with its beautifully calm natural wild life iguana. Each morning we enjoyed Sherma’s fabulous omelettes and David’s friendly welcome at the dive shop. Thank you for a great vacation and the price of was great too! We loved Sunwing!

Rooms were very clean, bed was comfortable and the sea view is wonderful. Beach feels private and pool area is spectacular overlooking the sea. Food was good, always something to choose. It is a smaller resort so if you are not interested in loud music, pool games and like local food and looking to relax, this is perfect.

Pros: 2 minutes from the airport. Extensive grounds with tennis courts, two ponds-one with an island covered in egrets, waterfall and jellyfish. Two beaches with good snorkelling on calm days, Amazing pool built in to a rock over the ocean with views of St. Georges and Sandals. Attentive staff, GM who is open to meeting guests and resolving issues. No wait for food, drinks, loungers at pool or beach and tables in restaurants. Good fresh local foods with enough variety at every meal Best ice cream, potatoes, fish, juice, fruit and baked items. Did not need to go off resort for food. John (shuttle driver) was always available to transfer my elderly mother from the restaurant to the pool and room. Upgraded from Oceanview to oceanfront. Open sliding glass doors to private patio, cross four feet of lawn and you have your private loungers on the beach just outside your door. Doesn't get better than this. Great value for money Cons: Rooms need to be updated (did not care as we did not go to stay in room) Need to have passion fruit and mango mix available at pool bar daily We were upgraded to oceanfront. No elevators so if there are mobility issues, hard to climb up stairs. Grounds and room are spread out. Grenada is a safe island with friendly people. There is so much to do, one week is not enough.

The rooms are dated the property is amazing and the food is better than average there is food and drink available anytime don't be concerned about the bad reviews they are from those type of people who would find fault wherever they go

What a wonderful place to stay! Top notch food, beautiful grounds, very well Kept inside and out! Lovely people, our stay Was terrific not one complaint, small and cozy atmosphère, which is what we like, stayed november 28 to december 5 2018

The resort is very outdated. Felt like we stayed at a cheap motel. Room was very damp leaving the bed feeling wet and the sheets smelled musty like they never changed the sheets before we checked in. We actually had to ask them to change the sheets because it was so hard to sleep in without gagging. The showers were cold and the shower curtain had an awful smell. There were stains all over the washroom. We asked to have the washroom and room refreshed as the smell was so bad but nothing was done. Our TV literally turned on and off by itself freaking out my husband LOL (found it funny but quite annoying). The grounds of the resort was pretty but again outdated. We liked that the resort was small and close to everything but there is not much to do at this resort. No entertainment at all except for the hour of entertainment at night in the lobby. Staff at the buffet and restaurants were amazing, very friendly. The food at the buffet was good, small selection which is good so there isn't much wastage. The Oriental restaurant was good but the Italian restaurant was not good at all, well at least to our taste. I couldn't wait to leave the resort due to the poor state of our room, I could not wait to get home to have a hot shower and sleep in a clean bed.

Beautiful property but in need of the work the new owners are planning. The food cooked to order was good but the menu lacked variety The wait staff in the restaurant and bars were fabulous and accommodating for our large group. The entertainment was good loved the live bands. Now to our bigger issue with exception to Vernel Williams who was the only maid to clean our room properly and the Manager who stepped in. Our room was not cleaned sheets had blood strains towels non existent and they complained about tips. Thank you Vernel for taking pride in your work.

This hotel gave us everything we were looking forward to. Rest and relaxation. We were happy to see the manager Chris with his smile out and about everyday. He's definitely an asset to this resort. The last night we were there we had a gala and it was really nice to see everyone/guests dressed up and the staff welcoming the guests. We cant wait to return to this gem and to Grenada!!

We've been in Antigua twice already and this place is the best so far! Quite large room, very good beach (needs only a clean up more, if they remove the small rocks from the beach it would be as good as Sandals beach ) and service is nice, quiet and cozy place for people who needs a rest and relax.

Beautiful resort on a great surroundings. Very friendly staff, and great management, Chris the general manager at the resort went above and beyond to find my wife's lost sunglasses.Very happy about that.

Good hotel and staff with a great potential to become an excellent resort with a face lift and renovation of the hotel. Beautiful location and surroundings and an excellent design. Local West Indies cuisine was very good rich with spices. Foreign meals (i.e. Mexican or Italian) not so good.

Although in need of a major facelift, the Rex has many features of a grand hotel. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with bougainvillea (Grenada's national flower) in every colour imaginable growing everywhere on the property. The room and public areas were clean. The beach is pristine - soft sand and clear water. It was very quiet- which is exactly what we wanted. The food was delicious when they cooked local foods, not as great with Mexican or Italian. The service was excellent, especially Shenelle at the front desk and Jennifer at the beach bar (coconut coolers). There was nightly entertainment in the lounge. It could have been a bit more professional but it was satisfactory. I like that it was so close to the airport. Had a really relaxing week. Would definitely go there again.

Excellent Resort! All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Many of the staff went above and beyond with great customer service, Deslin, Raphael and Rena and the list goes on! The food was delicious and abundant. The drinks were made perfectly every time. Very clean rooms and grounds were well manicured. The beach was very clean and clear blue water made it picturesque. There was always something to do whether it was at the resort or near by. Great location, just minutes away from the airport. The planes coming in and out of Grenada were never loud or bother some . I highly recommend staying at the Rex Resort, this was my first trip to Grenada and I definitely will be returning.

We stayed at the Rex for 7 days from April 20 to the 27th ,,, It was a long drive from the airport ,, about 2hours ,, we got stuck in traffic ,, but you do get to see a lot along the way ,, and we enjoyed that ,,, the checkin was fast ,, but then its not a big Resort ,, :) our rooms had king size beds that we did ask for ,, there was me and another couple ,, we where afew rooms separating us ,, because of us both wanting Kings ,, but that was fine ,, our rooms where nice ,, bed and pillows where comfy plenty of hot water ,,,, rooms were abit out dated ,, but only sleep in them anyways ,, we were in , 502 , and 506 right next to the wall separating us from the town ,, they told us we could hear the music , from the bars till 2 or 3 ,, but only on Friday and Saturday ,,, wrong it was all week ,, but dident really keep me awake ,, the food was ok ,, not a big buffet ,, but could always find something to eat if I was there for 2 weeks ,, I would of got bored with it ,, 2 al carts Italian , and Chinese ,, both were good ,, but you can only book day befoe and the settings are only for 40 ,, so only got to go once on each of them ,,, the sunset bar was nice ,, over looking the beach ,, little food bar was good ,, everything we had from there was good ,, dident go to the pool bar ,,, not into standing next to someone that forgets that your there and never leaves the pool ,,,, if you know what I mean . the staff is friendly ,, small gift shop ,, few things in it ,, but go to town its only a 5 min walk ,, only a few vendors on the way ,, but nobody bugs you ,,, on the beach few people trying to sell ,, you stuff ,, bought some cute carvings of bird houses ,, made from coconut ,, plus guys wanting to know if you wanted a water taxi to go to pigion Island or the pitons dident use them ,,, did go on the ex called land and sea, booked with the resort ,,highly recommend it . the bus picks u up brings you to the pitons ,, where you soak in the sulfur bath and then mud bath ,,in the Pitons . then takes you to a restrauant called the Mango tree for a buffet ,, looking at the Pitons then ,, you jump on a boat ,, follow the shore line back to the resort ,, the beach was nice small , but nice ,, the undertoe ,, is strong ,, if you have kids I woudnt leave them alone ,,, would I go back yes

We visited the island toward the ending of the tourist season so entertainment wasn’t plentiful. We also enjoyed the quiet relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend this resort if you are looking for a quiet holiday .

Beach is gorgeous. It’s wide and flat with sand like flour. You never fight for a spot on this quiet and relaxing gorgeous stretch of beach. Staff is phenomenal. Loved barmaid Heather, waitress Julian and our maid, Alise. Food was best we’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Beautiful dining on pier restaurant with atmosphere plus. Wine was very good, both the red and white. Lunch right by the beach everyday was perfect and lots of variety. Rooms were clean, mattress comfortable but they are very tired. Rooms definitely need an upgrade. We had a few minor issues and maintenance responded immediately. Rooms were clean. If rooms get a much needed upgrade this place would be 100% perfect. Once again we were happy with Angela from Trip Central.

The hotel was clean but pool need some work restaurants were very good. Dinner buffet was not so good. Resort staff very nice people. I would go back once hotel is renovated . The beach was beautiful

We left Toronto on April 15, 2018 during one of the worst ice storms of the year and arrived in St Lucia to sun and warm breezes. This is the second time we have been to this resort and would recommend the Rex for anyone wanting a quiet smaller venue to have a relaxing vacation. The pool area is large and chairs and umbrellas are always available. The beach is wonderful for swimming, walking and lounging, chairs and umbrellas are available. Remember all beaches in St Lucia are public but because of the Rex's location we were not bothered by to many vendors, just say no thank you and they will move on. The staff at the Rex is what really makes the place special, from the front reception to the wait staff in the restaurants to the pool, garden and beach sports staff, all are top notch. We really enjoyed joking with Veronica in the buffet and had a couple of sails on the small sun catamarans with Nelly and Yaisiff. Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge of the island and making me feel safe out on the water. Note: the catamaran are free for the use of the guests of the Rex, you can go out on your own or have one of the guys take you. The food was always good in both the buffet and the Italian, there is also an Oriental restaurant but we did not try that one, my partner is not a fan. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner are available in the buffet, there is a grill at the beach and they serve lunch only, fish and chips, hamburgers, hotdogs, and a great pulled pork sandwich, salads are also available there. There are two bars, one in the main lobby and the other at the pool, drinks are good and they serve Piton and Heineken beer on tap. The rooms at the resort are large, and the beds are super comfortable, this is an older hotel so don't expect all the bells and whistles however everything you need is available and it is very clean. The grounds are well maintained. We also enjoyed being able to leave the resort and walk into Rodney Bay and feel safe. There are many bars, hotels and places to grab a drink and enjoy some music.

This resort was great. The grounds were very well maintained. Nicely landscaped with lots of variety of planting ...beautiful!! The best rooms are the beachfront. The buffet had lots if healthy choices and changed daily. The Oriental restaurant had a good selection of items on the menu and the servers were fantastic. Dianne was great!!! All the staff were very professional from dining , houskeeping, bar, reception, and water sports . Dillon was super.... took us out on the catamaran for a very enjoyable trip. The entertainment was okay but the Saturday night steel band group was exceptional. They played until the very end. Daytime enterainment was scheduled but not always happened. Definately a resort I would reccomend. If all the Rex resort were like this one I would for sure visit all of them.

The Rex Halcyon was charming. The grounds are lovely and our room was well equipped, clean and comfortable as well as being ideally located with a view of both the pool and the beach. We loved every minute of our week there. The staff was friendly and helpful without being intrusive and the food was plentiful and very good. The beach is amazing and we never had any trouble finding loungers. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Hotel is tired, built 1993 and not much spent on it since then. Air canada should not rate it a 4star but it is a good 3. Food was ok, not a lot of variety. The grounds were very well kept, rooms need tlc but clean, staff was always pleasant, not much entertainment, and no amenities on the beach eg. beach bar or washrooms. Not a lot of water stations around the property just at restaurant, and pool bar, and in saying that there is a lot of walking to get a drink of water. Sounds like it under new management and they are expecting good things to come I hope so because it is in a lovely safe area and only 5 min. To airport. Great place if only relaxing by beach or pool.

The grounds are beautiful and well kept. There is even a small lagoon on the property. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and neat. If you are looking for super luxury (like a Sandals) then this isn't the place for you, but if you want good food and a nice place to be in the sun and sand then this is it. However, the evening entertainments did lack lustre and were often just a singer with a guy on a steel drum. The one restaurant on the property (Chinese food) was disappointing. The food was greasy and the service so slow that we left before dessert.

Very old and in need of help. Paint peels off ceiling when you use bathroom. Door creeks and sliding doors stick. No dresser, furniture ancient. Whole place is ancient. Needs to be shut down for 6 months and redone, then they can raise the rate, get a 4 star rating as long as they keep the same staff. Staff and food only good thing about this place.

The Papillion was an average, dated resort. We enjoyed it because it was small, staff were nice and the food was good. The grounds were maintained and we had wifi in our rooms (which was a huge bonus), entertainment seemed non existent and I would have liked some group exercise classes and more active activities on site. I think that Air Canada needs to invest in the resort rooms and grounds for the cost and star rating (4 no way). We made the most of our week...

The resort was small & intimate but offered everything I was looking for in a Carribean vacation- great staff, nice pool, Long Beach for walking & great Air Canada organized day trips. Also the resort had a nice spa at its Sister Resort which was within walking distance. Highly recommend the day trip called Land & Sea - excellent value & very interesting!

My wife and I were there March 6-13 and had a really good time. Yes the resort is older and could use some tlc, but our room was clean and provided everything we needed for the week, a place to sleep and change clothes. The rest of the time was spent relaxing on the beautiful beach and swimming in the gorgeous water. Breakfast and dinner buffets were good. Not a huge selection to choose from, but what was there was very good. Lunch grill by the beach was good everyday as well, lots to chose from as well. Beach bartenders were good and never had to wait very long for a drink. All in all we would go back for sure.

Despite some negative reviews of this resort, my husband, two teens and I went for a week. We had two rooms and upgraded to garden view rooms with king beds and fridges. The rooms were beautiful, with views of the garden and the perfect blue sea. We were in the main lodge, and only about 30ft to the beach. We loved the food, the friendly service, the steel drum band, the Antiguan dancers. The beach is epic, the views from Warri Pier at Sunset are incredible. The resort is not as polished as some others, but if you want to see Antigua, this is a fantastic place to stay. Liz, the AirCanada rep at the resort, is a worth her weight in gold. She knows everything, and made sure our trip was safe and fun. We did the land rover safari, the catamaran snorkel trip and spent a day wandering around Saint John’s. The locals are friendly and helpful. Antigua is beautiful beyond words.

Lower than our standards but we made the best of it & had a great vacation. Le Carta restaurant on pier is nice (3 times per 1 week stay) lots of mosquitoes. Rooms very basic Linens old but clean. No safe, hairdryer, coffee pot, iron etc. Beach was not the greatest even at Sandals next door. Rocky with seaweed & debri. Antiqua Village further down has the best beach. Beaches in Antiqua are public. I would be very disappointed if we had paid top dollars but considering the price it was okay & I was pleased we had come. Would I return to this resort again...... no probably not.

resort, staff and services exactly as described on web site. Lots of stairs or slopes. staff friendly and helpful. Quiet atmosphere, some sort of entertainment nightly. Food very good . no long lines, lots of beach chairs. Very short trip from airport. Do not hear planes as big hill divides space between.

It is a dated resort. The location is very good and the proximity with the wild hill is beautiful. The beach is nice and long (perfect for running and for walks) although water is not always calm. The food is simple but good. The rooms are large and clean but not fancy at all, they are dated but they have the basics. Most of the rooms have a very nice view of gardens and from the balcony you can also see the ocean! The staff is nice. You pay for what you get. I really enjoyed my stay here!

First time at this Resort. Food was great at the buffet and at the restaurants. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly. Many excursions to choose from. Close to centre town Rodney Bay. Would book again in future.

The pros are: great location, lovely beach area, great food, beautiful island, definitely recommend the land and sea tour. Beware of the street vendors. The cons are: a noisy environment, if it was not the booming bass from music into the wee hours, it was the noisy patrons coming home late having imbibed too much, or it was the noisy housekeeping staff talking too loud/slamming doors in the morning, to the cat meowing, to the frogs chirping. The only option you have is to keep the air conditioning going all night to try to mask the noise. Never felt completely safe outside the resort. Poverty. The activities are great for people who don't want to get their hearts beating, washer toss, trivia, etc. They should have activities like hikes, or group walks, or morning beach runs.

The Rex Grenadian is great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the island! It is simple, the rooms have everything you need on vacation, the personnel is welcoming and caring:) the grounds are pretty.

It was a great hotel. Basic but everything you need. The beach was beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Keep in mind, it is NOT a five star so there are no bells or whistles but it's all the basics you need and great food.

Booking with Tripcentral was very good very informative for our vacation. However, after a four hour delay on the runway in Toronto upon arrival we were given a room that was sub standard. The door to our room would not close it was off the top hinge to which they told us they would fix it in the morning. Among other things, the patio door we could not use, not workable, the air conditioner did not work. We had no lock box for our valuables and no coffee in the room. Two towels were provided, no bathmat, face clothes and hand towels. It took them four days to move us to another room and only after we were very demanding. Again, you people were very helpful to us but would not return to that resort. Antiqua is a very lovely island. Thank you, we do plan on booking with you again next year. John and Elizabeth VanBerlo

We enjoyed our stay. Great walking and swimming beach (about a mile of walking beach). Food was good. Staff was friendly. Rooms pretty basic. A great restaurant on the pier, we ate there twice. They need more beach chairs. The island was fun to explore. We did that two days with a driver. Wouldn't recommend renting a car as they drive on the other side of the road as in England and not much signage.

this was our first Time in St Lucia. Most resorts are over our price range so when friends suggested Rex Papillon we jumped at the chance. This resort is small but very clean. We go on vacation 1-2 times per year usually to Cuba or Jamaica. Rooms: Clean and very comfortable beds . Nice little patio with chairs and a table. Rooms cleaned very timely. Don't expect little towel animals - it won't happen. Food: Although I'm not a picky person, when I go on vacation I seem to be. I can say that although there was not much variety the food was good. The buffet is very small (resort is small) I was always able to eat very well every day. The main entree changes daily. There is a snack bar by the pool - EXCELLENT fish and chips. The portions are small but delicious. If you don't like what buffet is serving you can always go there but it closes at 6pm. We went to the Italian a la carte (my husband doesn't eat Japanese) - It was excellent. My husband and I had the bruchetta, ravioli and tiramisu for dessert. YUM. Friends we were with had various items from the menu and all shared that their meals were also very good. Pool: I was a bit disappointed at the temperature. The pool was very cold. Although the pool was cleaned daily it appears as though the lining needs a good scrubbing. The pool bar was really good - Leslie makes awesome drinks. Daily activities by the pool were fun. Music was a hit and miss depending on who was at pool bar. Often would start and stop several times during songs which was a bit annoying (technical difficulties) Staff - although many staff are very friendly, the bar staff were awesome and very engaging...the buffet staff were NOT. The buffet staff waiting on resort clients mostly ignored you after you were seated. They were less than friendly which was quite striking. They almost looked as though they were annoyed that they had to serve you. They rarely came to the table to see if you wanted something to drink with your meal. At least 3 evenings I had to go to the 2-3 staff standing around by the wine (not making eye contact with clients) to ask if we could have some drinks for our table. I was often met with an annoyed look and a shrug with a barely audible response. I have been a waitress and know that the job can be difficult but this was really ridiculous - If you don't like your job or people in general go do something else. These staff give this resort a bad name. Beach - We had a red or yellow flag during our vacation. The beach is very clean but not flat (It is angled quite a bit which makes it hard to walk or run on. This is the only downfall for the beach. entertainment - good shows nightly although I have to admits I am an extremely early riser (I'm there for the sun not the nightlife) so I am often very tired by then and don't usually stay for the whole show. On Friday night their is a street party you can attend. the shuttle (nominal fee) will bring you to a closed off street in Gros Islet for a street party - their are hundreds of people from all resorts in St Lucia and also locals. The street is closed off and locals sell alcohol, food and souvenirs, their is dancing in the street as well. The shuttle will drop you off and pick you up at same place. Overall this was a good vacation. The scenery is beautiful. The resort grounds are well kept and clean. Although the weather called for cloudy/rain every day it was still beautiful weather. The rain came quickly (and its cold rain), it rained hard but was done within a few minutes and the sun came back out. Their are cats on the resort and several are very friendly. As a side note: I hurt my back on the third day of vacation, I went to the mall which is just down the street and saw a pharmacist who gave me medication and a cream for my back. Pharmacist was very helpful. I would definitely go back to this resort.

Spent a week at the Rex with my partner, and had a great time! The resort was smaller which we liked- so close to the ocean, beautiful beach, super yummy food- fresh, great fish! The few cats seen were a welcome addition. Pleasant staff, good service and clean. The drive from the airport is long but very scenic on the way back. Location of the resort is great in terms of additional entertainment and shopping. Would definitely return. Thanks :)

Very clean room, public areas and beach. Good value for money spent. Good food with fair amount of variety. Great shower in room - always hot water. No noisy boom box on pool deck was HUGE plus. One minute walk from room to beach. Clean beach chairs with umbrellas; clean towels always available. Be prepared for one and one-half hour drive from airport - worthwhile trip, good opportunity to see fabulous coastline.

We are easily please as we travel quite a bit we like the resort its 3* so if you go in knowing that then you wi enjoy its a little repudiative on food but food was all really good STAFF ARE AMAZING RIGHT DOWN TO MAITIENCE GUYS the only thing we had issue with as we have never traveled with Air Canada vacations or Air Canada they lost our golf clubs still have none and we are back a week , and the dewy at the airport was 5 hours but they tried hard and sh... does happen so go in knowing not to sweat the small stuff bring your own towels and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and people Kim & Mike

The grounds of this resort are picturesque and well manicured. One can walk the white sand beach in the surf or sit in the shade of the palms and sea grapes. The pool which sits atop a hill by the sea catches the sun from dawn till sunset. Choice of food in the main dining room is not extensive, but what is served is excellent in quality and quantity. Though fish and chicken are main stays for lunch and dinner, recipes change continually. Ice cream is fabulous but desserts are not generally a forte. The resort buildings are extremely clean but could use some redecorating and updating. Guest rooms are quite adequate but often access to them requires climbing a considerable number of stairs. While there is some entertainment at the Rex Grenadian, this resort is generally a quiet place for those who want to sunbathe, read, and enjoy traditional dining.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Staff are wonderful - so friendly and went above and beyond. Food at the buffet was excellent and had two other options of Italian and Oriental. Resort is small and quaint. The beach is long and not crowded. It was relaxing to spend the day on the beach with the waves and doing the free water sports including snorkeling. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and would return to and recommend The Rex.

Excellent location in Rodney Bay. Beach is spectacular. Swam non stop all week. Staff are phenomenal. Excellent customer service. Resort is small and quaint. Watersports were very fun and staff very catering.

Nice, safe grounds for walking around early or late. Lovely quiet beach for people who want to relax. The snorkling equipment was top notch and we saw lots of beautiful fish on the shallow coral reef. Dining facilities were clean and well laid out. The servers were excellent and entertaining at times. We enjoyed the healthy food choices and were thankful for no fried foods. The entertainment always seemed to stop around 10 PM except for the very extravagant New Year's Eve Party.

I went in with low expectations from everything I read and was blown away! The food was unreal although I wish they had food 24 hrs. There is no late night snacks and nothing in between meals. Also it’s hard to get good drinking water and hey charge for water bottles. The rooms were awesome bed was amazing! The service was top notch especially Dolston,Dave and Heleen! Bar closes at 11 which I thought would suck but if you are nice to them they will set you up with enough drinks to last a while! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone!

The Rex Grenadian is a smaller, older hotel that is situated on a spectacular, beautiful section of beach. We thought for a three star hotel it was okay. The rooms were clean but quite small and very dated. They could definitely use a makeover. Having said that we upgraded to a beachfront room and the view off of the small balcony was very beautiful. These rooms are probably within a hundred feet of the ocean and are worth the upgrade. The common areas are quite nice with lots of places to sit and visit with the other guests. That is one of the things we liked best about this property is that because it is so small you get lots of opportunity to visit with the other travelers and get to know them. We met some very nice people on this holiday. We spent almost all our time at the resort on the beach or in the ocean. There are lots of big trees to sit under for shade, so much nicer than a palapa. The snorkeling there was very good right off the beach, probably as good as any resort snorkeling we have seen. The pool area was up high on a cliff overlooking the ocean and was very pretty. We never spent any time there but it looked lovely. Our biggest complaint would probably be the food. While it wasn't really bad it wasn't very good either. It was very plain, with little choice but we could always find something to eat. The barbecue night was very good though. Overall it was a very nice holiday and you get your moneys worth at this resort as it is a less expensive resort you shouldn't expect a five star holiday. For us the beautiful beach, good snorkeling, and good company made this a very good holiday.

Hotel was amazing. Staff was great and the service was definitely one of a kind. Geared More for the older crowed and the bar closes at 12. Food was not unlimited 3 meals only per day. You get what you pay for

stayed at this hotel with family members for a week. loved the staff at the resort and the st. lucian people in town were very nice and polite. food at resort was okay and drinks were awesome. liked that they posted what would be served at the buffet ahead of time so you know what morning, lunch and evening meals would be. the restaurant at the pool/beach area was excellent, we ate lunch there almost everyday. went to town a few times to try some locale food, really enjoyed matthews restaurant and wingz n thingz we had king size beds, they were sooooo comfortable. my only complaints would be that there is so much waste with the small plastic cups for your beverages, they do not fill up tim hortons insulated cups or big bubba's. i can see there point but it is very wasteful that i order 2 drinks, then i pour them into my insulated cup and throw out the cups. they also need to provide more garbage cans around the resort to get rid of the plastic cups. i would definitely go back as our group and myself really enjoyed the resort, people and location into town. a 2 minute walk and you were in town.

we went for a week,could stay longer if we could.Happy with hotel,food, people and service for sure.We are planning to go back.Hotel is clean, food always good and fresh, no complains.Love it thank you

Hi I had an amazing time it was very enjoyable. Grounds , dining staffs were wonderful. The only negative comment I have is the meals could of been better they need to prepare authentic Grenadian dishes being Grenadian I know what our food should taste like and foreigners need to experience that. One last thing there were no wash clothes in my room for that entire week, and there should be nightly entertainment.

The resort was great grounds beach pool area everything but more staff is needed to take guests to their room.And more staff training eg: customer service needs I provement Jamaica has the best customer service for their guest.

Food, rooms and people running the place was great. Everyone went out of there way to make sure our stay went smoothly. One of my favorites was the use of a small catamaran for sailing. You can sign it out and sail it yourself. If you needed help someone would take you out.

The hotel has the best location and grounds in Grenada but the hotel is in need of a major renovation. Rooms are outdated, bathtub is discoloured and leaks, water comes in the room when it rains. No washcloths provided when requested they only provided 1 per room and said they had none. The staff is great and try their best to make everyone happy so can't blame them for what the hotel is lacking.

Great location, beautiful beaches Breathtaking scenery and grounds. We were served a variety of dishes which included caribbean and north american dishes. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent.

The hotel was lovely, the grounds and scenery were spectacular. The menu was good but limited. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. There is some entertainment and activities, overall its a good short term location.

GREAT FRIENDLY AND CARING STAFF. WONDERFUL AND VARIED DISHES. AC AND INTERNET WORKED WELL. HOT AND COLD WATER WITH NO INTERUPTION. SHUTTLE WAS ALWAYS ON SCHEDULE. ROOMS WERE CLEAN. I WILL BE BACK AGAIN.

spent a week at the rex resort. not very busy so we upgraded to a beach room. room was about 40 feet from the water. resort is older and can use some updating but the resort is very clean and the grounds are amazing. staff was great. take a tour of the island it is very lush. would go back.

Loved the resort. It was a beautiful setting, quiet and gorgeous beach. Sandy beach and clear turquoise waters. No lineups anywhere and amazing service. Food was very good and a la carte restaurant was above average. We fell in love with beautiful island of Grenada.

We were so amazed with the price we paid for the resort. When we arrived we then understood why. The food was good but the same thing every.....single......day. They just swapped out the meat--yes that's right they only had one option of meat at dinner! The pool was very dirty and decrepid. It actually had a scummy film on the top of the water that accumulated over our whole 7 day stay!! The beach was beautiful but was hard to enjoy with all the locals aggressively trying to sell stuff. The staff took a few days to warm up but eventually were wonderful. If it wasn't for the people we met down there and the staff it would had been a very disappointing vacation. I would recommend looking at Trip advisor pics before booking, so you are somewhat prepared for what you walk into.

Everything is dated but well maintained. Loved the resident cats. Most of the staff are very friendly. Alfrida in the rooftop bar is a gem. The food was okay but did what food is supposed to do, fill the belly. Thanks for a good week away.........

We had a fabulous 7 day girlfriend vacation to wonderful St Lucia and the Rex Papillon Resort. The resort is all that we expected it to be and it met all of our needs. Its a small resort; very quiet and relaxing. The staff were terrific, the food was great, the beach was wonderful......would go back again in a heartbeat.....

Rex Papillon was an amazing hotel, so much more than expected. The staff go above and beyond, very friendly and professional! Smaller resort which was great, you can get to the beach within 5 minutes from anywhere. The beach was clear and aqua blue, always chairs available. The pool was also great, cleaned every morning, also lots of chairs! Food was fantastic, especially for me being a vegetarian. Even though it's a smaller resort, more vegetarian options than anywhere else I've travelled. Drinks were also delicious, special thanks to El Freida in the roof top bar - her warm spirit, laugh, and special rum punch drinks will always be remembered! We will be back, thank you!

This was a small but nice resort. I got a great price. $$$$ The staff were friendly, especially Elfrieda in the Sunset Bar. The shower stall is very small, I'm a small person and found it difficult to shower in it. Solution, get wet, turn off shower and then lather and rinse, otherwise there is no room to move around and the soap just falls off of you without getting washed. The knobs are kind of wonky too. I had a hard time getting luke warm water. My curler iron did not work even with an adapter. The voltage is 220. When I returned home, it worked. I was told you can rent an adapter at the front desk. The A la Cartes were good. Buffet was small but good. Don't need a lot, because there are only around 100 rooms. Games to play for prizes. I won the Easter Egg contest and won lots of stuff. My husband won the Washer Toss Game and won a small bottle of rum. We went parasailing in front of the resort. I contacted the Tour Office and made arrangements for one hour after the Tour Office contacting them. They picked you up on the beach in the red boat. Pigeon Island was great, climb to both peaks. It was quite the hike!! It is very hot in St. Lucia, bring lots of sun screen, it was 30 + everyday we were there. Beds were super comfy. Air conditioner worked great. If you are doing any excursions, there is a lot of driving up and down mountains!!! But lots of scenery....

Very dignified service- seated by hostess for meals in excellent buffet restaurant. Beach grill a little formal with menu service at the table but meant no food litter in the beach. Staff are extremely courteous and always ask how the stay is going. Plastic cups provided for drinks when leaving the lobby. 2 very good a la carte restaurants with authentic fresh food. All the food was fresh and the coffee was the best I have ever had at a resort. Our friend's birthday was celebrated in style by the staff. Our only suggestions are to provide water stations in the lobby and near the pool, and a garbage can in the lobby.

For my friends and I, this resort met all our needs for an unforgettable vacation. Tasty food made with fresh, local ingredients. Rooms were comfortable with good air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The beach was beautiful, perfect for swimming and walks. Extremely clean in all areas. Easy access to shops in Rodney Bay and the public buses. The staff are what really make the Papillon special.

The Hotel was much better than I was anticipating, the grounds are lovely lots of flowers, the rooms are clean and lots of space, nice balcony or patio if on the bottom. We had a top (third) floor room and the view of the ocean was to beautiful! The staff are all friendly and the service was great. The patio Bar offers table service, we did not expect service like that for the money that we paid. The welcome drink when checking in was a bonus. We met lots of people and made some new friends. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would love to go back again next year! Mary and Lance Coulthard

Our beachfront room was the closest I have been to a beach yet! As Trip Advisor has mentioned, the hotel is dated, but our room was clean and everything was functioning. The food was very good. I enjoyed fresh fish everyday with a different rice, and island veggies. The staff were very pleasant and attentive to our needs. The beach was awesome! There were plenty of chairs and a nice grove of palm trees to sit under. The water was a bit rough when we were there-first week of April. We hear that is normal until after Easter then it calms back down. For the money, we feel this hotel was a good value.

Resort was very clean and comfortable for a 3 star. Food was excellent. Staff were very friendly. Al la Carte (Japanese and Italian) were exceptional. We went to each twice they were so good. Beach is very clean. All beaches are public in St. Lucia but the resort provided enough chairs and umbrellas, always got one. Excellent value trip for what we paid.
