We arrived late at the resort so check in was not a problem. We were escorted to our room handed the key and left alone. Well the room smelled like a damp ashtray and did not look much better. Not bottled water and hand soap out of its package which looked used already. Being so late we waited till morning to ask for a new room which they did exchange after we waited for the boss to show up. We decided to have breakfast...if you want to call it that. Minimal offererings, stale buns no bread. You had to toast the buns on a grill beside the lame omelete station. Watered down juice almost no fruit or any choice other than eggs. We could not eat. We had a good cappuccino at so called cafe. Not a good choice of resortsat all even at this star rating. We walked by the pool and it looked merky not clear. No beer served at the beach bar. We ended up switching Hotels with the one next door a couple hours later.

Thankfully the staff were wonderful as always. That's all . Conditions were unsatisfactory. Only 2 lukewarm showers in 14 days. Men's washroom at beach was closed the entire trip. Had to go all the way back to room The lobby men's washroom smelled awful. The pool was close to empty and filthy all the time. I could go on. I probably won't return until I hear that conditions improve. Not speaking for my companions but they share the same sentiment..

Hotel rancho Luna is the worse place you can book in Cuba. It’s a resort that serves rice and beans every single day. If you have any problems the front desk customer service scolds you and is very reluctant to help. They “run” out of essential items such as beer, wine, toilet paper, and food. The key card barely works which locks you out of your room. I was locked out for a good two hours while the front desk didn’t help. Not only that, you have locals hovering around the beach trying to sell you services, even when you tell them no. I find it quite ironic that one night two people complained about no wine to their booking agent and the next morning they had an abundance of wine. Something is not right about that resort and no Canadian should book there. Losing weight and trying to find an earlier flight should tell you how the trip was.

Ok so this was the worst vacation I spent money on! This place was terrible in pretty much every way! The food situation was so bad we had nothing to eat and lost weight while on vacation! The food was rice, canned meat, goat and fish. No snacks, no mixed drinks, and the same unseasoned food every day for 7 days! I got really sick on day 6 from the food. We had to leave and get food from the restaurants off the resort or we would starve. It’s literally rice, canned meat and beans everyday and night. No butter for the dry bread, no breakfast foods, no lunch and no fruits and no salads at all. They sliced cucumbers, sour pineapples and underripe watermelon was all that was offered! Now the rooms were so bad! We complained and they put us in the suites which were much better! But only got it on day 5 after we were counting the days to go home because we were hungry and thirsty as there was very little water. They had power outage and water was gone for almost 2 days, couldn’t use anything! No water!! No drinks except wine, beer and coffee when we had water! It’s NOT all inclusive as the dining was only open for about 2 hours at a time only at meal times so no food or snacks in between!! Again we are so hungry and I’m already so thin! The room keys stopped working almost daily and the front desk ladies are rude and dismissive! The tv’s are all grainy and terrible! Only have like 4 Spanish channels and cnn in English. The music from the stage is so loud you can’t relax in your room at all! The place lacks entertainment, food, drinks, water, supplies such a toilet paper and paper towels are scarce in Cuba so you will not have any of those if you don’t bring your own! Cuba is quite impoverished so be ware that its poor and people will try to take your money by offering things for sale or just beg you when you go off the resort. The stores and small and under stocked and the food is not good even when you go to a restaurant! The basic rooms are so run down and the mold is bad, small and gross. Only the suites are livable! The beach was dirty and no one cleans up the beach so people didn’t really swim in it! All in all it was so bad I can’t say enough to keep you away from this resort! Please go to a 4 star place where you will have food and basic necessities and a clean beach to swim.

I just love this place,nothing else to say ? Food was not the best but the rest of our stay there was great!Personnal is just amazing,pool is warm and clean and the beach was nice too.We had beer for the entire week!

Staff can be friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. All public areas are kept very clean. I have stayed here several times. Please keep in mind Cuba is strained right now, power outages etc.. The hotel was not affected by power outages and I had great cell phone coverage while at hotel. I use telus.

Great hotel, wonderful staff, beautiful Bayside beach, nice bar, lobby and entertainment areas. Large grounds. Stars at night. Quiet. Peaceful. Large pool. Within walking distance of public beach as well.

Weather 19-30, not much wind, very few rains. Transfer from hotel was a full hour late. No one cared. Room - bad. AC was making noise, nothing else. Permanent odor from sewer. Corners' dirt of many years. Water was OK, warm and cold. Electricity was shouting down all the time, but for minutes. TV shows nothing and in a very bed quality. All bulbs and remotes were OK. Food - bad. Horrible sausage everywhere. Sometimes no eggs, bread, meet. Poor choice of fruits and vegetable. No fish. No oil. No souses. No cheeze. Quality of everything was very low. Pool - big and clean, but painfully noisy. Beach-OK, but better to have shoes. Internet - only in a noisy bar area. Bar - very poor, but coffee was good. Weekends are full with noisy, voracious locals.

we have been to Racho Luna off and on since 2009 and this is the last time...what has changed? no eggs for breakfast no roast turkey, pig or chicken once a week. the morning cook doing the pan cakes flattens them once they start to raise up so you get hard cakes not pancakes juice jugs but no glasses 4 times we had to go look for plates and or bowls ice cream was being served one day but no glasses or spoons exhaust fan did not work in bathroom so there was lots of BLACK MOLD on the walls and ceiling, yuck.... the doors were hard to open and close as they drag on the ground ,,,,,most of the staff were fine and it was nice to meet some old friends, the grounds and beach were still in good shape.

I’m considered a regular. Quite tranquil location. Away from Cienfuegos but close enough to visit the interesting town. The staff never fails to make you feel at home. Service with a smile and cleaning is always punctual

The service in the hotel is mediocre, probably lacking the staff especially in the restaurant. Sometimes it is difficult to find the clean table. Due to the current issues in Cuba coffee is only available in the morning before 10am. On the other hand people are very friendly the room is good and cleaned regularly. As I am a repeat guest. I do not expect much and that is what’s expected.the pool was empty 5 out of 7 day stay. No pop, coffee or beer, only rum. The food is very basic and repetitive. The rooms and bathrooms have mold. The staff is very friendly. The grounds are well maintained. The rooms are cleaned daily to the best the cleaning crew can provide. Overall there is something about this place that has be coming back. Must be the staff ?

This resort is in the process of improving itself from the ground up,,,,,,,We were in this place many times before Covid .Every thing was better than now. We hope that this beautiful place will attract more customers to this place again.

Well, we have just completed our 3rd trip to Rancho Luna since November of 2023. Pleased to say that all our expectations were met as usual. The food was adequate as was the beer except for running out only for a short time, but that was over a 2 week span. Staff and service were excellent as always. Can't wait to return again in November of 2024

A week of February 23, easy, quick transit from the airport. Easy check in. Standard room modest , bathroom outdated but all working. Very comfortable bed. Modest buffet food but tasty. Nice, clean facility, nice lobby, drinks very limited, coffee bellow average. You pay for your Wifi. 40 hours $ 8.00. Small but nice beach, absolutely amazing coast line between the hotel beach and public beach. Staff ok but not happy. Cienfuegos worth to see. beautiful. An excellent food and drinks, bars and entertainment. Paid $ 715 a person, worth every penny.

My name is Ross. Just came from vacation at Rancho Luna hotel. Please, pay attention to my message. 1. I got a vicious food poisonings at the beach restaurant and was lying in my room for 6 days and nights. I suspect from a fried fish. They don't clean properly guts of a fish and thus is a cause of a stomach poisonings. also, few others canadian tourists were rushed to a city hospital and stayed there for a week 2. Local cuban people, who come to a hotel for a day - they steal food at the restaurant in very large quantities putting into their bags. 3. Also, local cuban people bring a large capacities thermoses and walk from one bar to another and bartenders dispense a large quantities of beer into a those people's thermoses, and also bartenders give them alcohol drinks, such as rom Havana Club and others, which I consider that is a theft as well. Stealing food, beer and alcohol by locals - can lead to a future price increases for canadian tourists 4. A guy on the beach, named Neilson, solicits money from tourists for free water sports equipment and also solicits tourist for bringing him beer in his own large thermoses. This Neilson also lets local people, who come to the beach from Cienfuegus use water sports pedal boats and catamaran and people pays him money. Also, he demand money from local vendors to sell something to tourists on the Rancho Luna beach. This was told us by locals. This is a pure extortion, like a local mafia. Last time we were there in SEPTEMBER, 2023 - this guy Neilson deliberately sailed his catamaran over a head of our friend Arthur and almost hit him in his head, because Arthur did not give him a money for using a pedal boat. ALL ABOVE LISTED MUST BE STOPPED. Regards. Ross.

The hotel is great. Very clean and service crews seem to be cleaning and maintaining 24/7 other than running out of coffee and toilet paper, we were accommodated the best possible way considering some interruptions in the supply chain

As always the staff were happy to see us again. The food and beverage selection was pretty good (Cuba) Unfortunately the alacart was not available. Room was clean and comfortable, but Please paint the rooms.

This was our 25 th trip to Rancho Luna. Shannon at Tripcentral gave us a lot of helpful tips before leaving. Our room had two new queen beds, new air conditioner, great view. The entertainment was not as loud as previous years, so got good sleep. All staff were friendly and helpful. We have 10 hours free wifi per person per week which was a nice surprise. Hair dryer in the bathroom was a first. Hot showers, every evening.

Beds were comfortable. Rooms small but clean... My friends enjoyed themselves... Guests were very social.... Facilities were satisfactory... Lots of variety of food...Enjoyed our stay AGAIN... Great job for a 2.5 star resort...

Well my teenage son and I had a really good time. Very inexpensive, good staff, fun guests and decent Cuban-style food. The beach was not too good - a tad grassy, but just to the west about a half mile is the Faro Luna beach with great swimming, restaurants snack shacks and cheap n creamy Pina colattas. Two hours from the airport, too bad, but travelled in daylight, an instructive scene. Recommended at the price.

Over all good.nice beech, The only problem is that they sprinkle pork meat on almost on every food that becomes a problem for vegetarians people like me. Hindus are vegetarians .Jews , Muslims and some Christians don't eat pork

The hotel is clean but dated. Minor improvements (paint) no significant changes. One concern I have is that the majority local guest, although very pleasant. It seems they have preference over international guests because they communicate in Latin with the hotel staff better .I.e restaurant The one thing I would change is the pool MC just entertains loud games on speakers at a time when most guest go back to the room to take a nap before dinner

This is the first resort I see no beers and soft drinks for one week . I will never go back again . Staff is very nice . They cannot do anything because they have nothing to give to the tourists. No toilet tissues in any toilet in the pool or lobby area . It is bad .

We have been here many times before. Every effort is made to upgrade this resort. Despite shortages and challenges efforts are made by staff in all areas to make the stay a pleasant one!!!! One thing that was missing was the bus transportation to the city. IN the past we found this feature very convenient and certainly missed it on this visit,

Staff where more than helpful . Food was good in general .Rooms are. Dated need to be upgraded.pool and pool bar where alright but bar did have enough tables and chairs lots lounge chairs.beach and buffet in general was good .the beach was not good ocean full of weeds and not that big . For the price I paid I would go back. Good value for what I spent.

They try so hard! Food was varied and plentiful, some renovations to the rooms (new air conditioners, some paint), staff was generally very pleasant and helpful. The place was nearly empty so the beach bar was hardly used. The beach was fine. I have been there MANY times and would not recommend it to young people. Most tourists are older and regulars. The entertainment was minimal, and the entertainment director is a young fellow who should NEVER been issued a mic! The city seemed so sad. Most galleries and the bigger bars were closed. Very little to buy, though some artisana. No music! I would recommend this place to anyone who has been to Cuba and does not expect luxury. Money issues were interesting. No one wanted Cuban pesos. I brought US one dollar bills and Canadian fives as tips and taxi fares. Credit cards in most stores.

The hotel has many features that are not used. Whatever is broken, they leave it broken. Room towels has plenty of stain, old, really small. No information is provided. A one pager listing the services will.be appreciated. Please buy a coffee and milk carafe, instead of asking the guests to use a huge soup service spoon.. buy coffee cups instead of using plastic cup to serve coffee.

Enjoyed my stay at Rancho Luna from Jan 31st to Feb 7th, 2023.. Everything was good, except the Reception Desk and Resort Store needs to accept cash payments (USD, CAD, UK Pound or Euros). Misplaced my backpack upon return from my day trip, and the Reception Lady returned it to me with everything in it. Went to the Guest Relation personnel to track down the honest Reception Lady from the night before to give her some gifts and to show my appreciation for her honesty, but was disappointed that the Guest Relation Lady was unable to locate her.

This hotel is a nice place to get away and enjoy some sun and quiet time.An older hotel but always striving for betterment everywhere and everyday.They worked so hard to fill their guests with the best hospitality.Food is Cuban cuisine and fresh daily.Sometimes limited to what is in seasonal produce.Very clean and always trying to make you feel comfortable.I had a piece of luggage left at airport.The staff were very friendly and helpful.I was so impressed and grateful for all their helping.I will definitely go back to Hotel Rancho Luna 🙏🇨🇺♥️

Rancho Luna has been obviously upgraded from our last visit about 30 years ago. It is basic, but clean, well-designed, and has excellent beach and pool. It is about 20 minutes by taxi to the interesting city of Cienfuegos, and also to the Cienfuegos Botanical Gardens, where we happened to see the tzuntzunjito (bee-hummingbird), the smallest bird in the world. Sorry that we did not have time to get back to Playa Jiron and the Cienaga de Zapata, the wonderful national park.

Staff always kept things clean as possible. Doing excellent job with little they have . Staff friendly... what do you expect from a 2+ star? Put an elastic around your head and "SNAP" out of it...😎😁🍒🤯

Rancho Luna has made many updates to their resort since the pandemic. Many of the rooms have been updated - new mattresses, flat screen tvs, new air conditioning units, hair dryers installed and new tiling in bathrooms. Some of the pavilions have been updated as well. The restaurant on the beach is amazing and so beautiful. Additional seating has been added as well as patio furniture in attached private areas. This restaurant is now a la carte so you need to make a reservation. The resort has a generator so the rotating power outages will not affect the activities offered. Staff are friendly and do their best to accommodate

We had a very difficult time to get towels in room 2 the 2nd day none all week the night before leaving I took all towels to front deck and told them I was putting the hotel on a don't go list They had the maid meet me at the room with clean towels The hotel staff now treat you like they do not want you to you to come back If you want to enjoy Cuba GO TO GUARDLAVACA

Hotel/Resort is very GOOD. Management working hard. Manager OLGA doing her best to improve services. But -Music TOO LOUD.(during the day and in the night) Night show is in UNBEARABLE. LOUD -Take Solicitors OUT OFF Hotel Beach Girls, Currency ex changers, Unlicensed massage therapists,etc putting TOO much pressure on canadian hotel guests.

Grounds, beach, pool are clean and neat. Rooms are clean but small. Some rooms have no fridge, so u have to ask for it. Food was good, but not fish. Lunchroom clean. Had to wear mask in lunchroom. Locals are 80% of guests. Good for the money u pay. This is Government hotel, not Spanish. Rainy season in May and June.

Heres what I think. The hotel was busy with lots of Cuban people that came to the hotel with no Pcr test like the tourist had to have coming to the hotel. The food was descent the drinks were good. Now about Hola Sun handle the COVID-19 testing.The testing was done on time for the results to be ready. But on the day to go to the airport they only had about 5 test results for about 15 people. On the way to the airport they stopped at a car on the way to airport and picked up a few more. We get to airport and not all people had results. At the airport 4 people get there results and I don't get mine. I miss my flight to go home. Next morning I get a knock on my door. They have my results a day late and inform me I'm positive. Then I spend a week of hell at a Cuban hotel hospital for tourist and heard many other horror stories. No one speaks English at the hospital. The travel agency and Hola sun holidays representive deserted me no one called or helped at all. My suggestion DON'T GO TO CUBA. It's a government of CUBA cash grab. Almost 2000 us dollars or 43000 Cuban national money. And you have to pay cash.

Covid precautions by the staff were good everyone wearing masks and proper hand cleaning. However i was concerned by many Cubans who were also staying at the hotel. I found out today that a tourist who had his. Cuban wife stay with him in the hotel contracted corona and he was not given his paperwork and was not allowed to fly home, however he did ride with us on the bus to the airport putting all of us at risk! Needless to say i am very concerned about the policies and procedures leading up to this possible catastrophe....... William

The grounds are ok, rooms are ok; pool is very good; the food is good but lack of variety, shortage of veggies and salads; the bar service and restaurant service is good; maids are always friendly. The entertainment is good. The beach is good.

They have painted, trimmed and never stop washing and cleaning. Their politeness and friendly attitude has always been #1. I am heading back in January 2020 for my 6th. time in 2 years. The biggest holdback is that Air Transat isn't using the Cienfuegos airport.

I have been to Rancho Luna 6 times. The resort is quite basic but clean. There is always something you can find to eat. Most of the staff are very good and I know most of them by their first names. They are always happy to see us and it is not just about the tips. The one thing I find disturbing and likely fatal is some Cubans butt into line and expect to get served before the other people waiting in line for coffee or beer at the lobby bar, the pool bar and the grill bar. Some bartenders do not allow them to butt in and serve people in order - other bartenders do allow Cubans to butt in. Twice when I was at the lobby bar for coffee on one wait Cubans butted in and were served before me - twice - very annoying. If the management allows this butting in by Cubans the tourism business in Cuba will crash faster than a 737 Max. No one likes arrogance and elitism. I will go back one more time and if it is still the same it will be my last. There are lots of places where all people are treated with dignity and respect.

You get what you pay for but then on the plane, we met people who paid the same but ended in a 4-star resort, ours was 2.5 at best. The buffet and the bars were missing basic basic basic stuff...like the toaster and the grill broke down, the coffee was served in plastic cups, the meat was coloured, no jam, butter was rare and the orange juice was sweet water, worse than Tang...the fish had a smell... The Cubans were drinking and eating in the pool. They were putting out their cigarettes and dirty plastic plates on the ground... The music was the same and usually loud. Our bathroom was moldy and the fan never worked. Paid extra for our seats on the airplane and got a family right behind us with screaming 2 and a 3 year old. We moved to the back of the plane next to the washrooms. We’ll be back!

I will keep this short, 3 complaints, food, rooms and drinks,,every night was mystery meat crazy looking food and tomato soup for the pasta sauce, only one burner worked on the toaster, no big deal because you have to find the butter, never mind looking for jam because there was none. snacks was little pizzas ugh and tuna sandwich which the cats did not even eat. The rooms safe never worked and the air conditioner controls where F%#ked,,The drinks wow no blender drinks not even a Mojito..no mint to be found...All in all good times

I traveled with five friends who have been to Rancho Luna in the past and with some reviews I traveled with no expectations for service or quality. The food quality was limited. If you are picky or fussy in even a little way you probably should go to a much more quality place or no even go to Cuba. The restriction on Cuba show up even greater in these lower end resorts/hotels. Food variety was very limited but there was rice, chicken, pork and pasta most days with good fresh breads. We changed rooms twice with things not working but they tried to help as much as possible. Many rooms are very old and dated but generally very clean. The beach was clean and safe with a nice bar/snack bar. Walking on the beach easy and safe with other areas to buy food not too far away. The large pool was better than expected and in good shape. The local Cuba guests did not treat the pool as would be expected but they were generally pleasant and most friendly. Entertainment and service was also limited but remember it is Cuba and you get what you pay for!!!

After rejecting first room (previous occupant a smoker) second was O.K. if on the small side for two. Clean but only one A/C setting, i.e. frigid. Took a few days to fix safe lock. Room service was good. Lots of food but of poor quality. Had to ask for some basics on several occasions. Restaurant staff were pleasant and friendly. Very good restaurants nearby. Bar service was satisfactory. Coffee inferior. Spacious grounds. Great beach although white sand a little rough. Don't be reluctant to seek help from Reception as they can be helpful and keep your local tour director informed of any problems encountered. If you can live with less than luxury the price and value of a one week vacation at RL would be tough to beat.

The hotel sits on a sprawling well maintained property on the S shore of central Cuba close to the city of Cienfuegos. The buildings and rooms are tired and need to be upgraded, and it looked like efforts were being made to improve. Our room was dark and musty and the bathroom was moldy. The hotel failed in the food department. Being an island state I was surprised that fresh fish/seafood was not readily available. Cold cuts and salads were being recycled on a daily bases and I was tired of eating rice as the staple side. The resort failed on the entertainment department. Perhaps the most disturbing part of my trip was seeing old “white” men who were unabashedly paired with young “Cuban” escorts giving the impression that this was a sex tourist destination. Given the current Cuban economic situation I understand the causes of these difficiencies but as a tourist my expectations were higher.

The entire resort is getting a fresh appearance/ very appealing. The buffet was well stocked and sufficent choices.Al acarte dinners were excellent.Would like to see more english content in the entertainment.

Best thing about the resort is the staff (special shout-out to Izbel the entertainment guy, and Barbara, who took care of our room). The pool is good, clean and large enough so you don't feel crowded. The beach is also clean, and the kayaks and paddle boats were always available to use. Unfortunately the food brings the star rating down but Cienfuegos is nearby with very reasonably priced restaurant options.

simple hotel yet unbelievable experience amazing shows and great people plus wonderful excursions such as el nicho and the dolphins excursion which is a 5 minute walk from the resort will do it again for sure

wonderful litle place rooms are old in need of repairs but food is excelent great variety lots of sweets personal very pleasant and nice .but the best of all the beach golden sand and blue water no seaweed month of november not many people peace and quiet beautiful beach bar serving drinks and lunch everyday. we.had a super great time and were very pleased with the place.just to let you know place is old but super clean

I picked a time in which the Cuban diesel and gasoline supplies were in a shortage, and in this particular case that meant there were shortages of many amenities one would expect from an 'all inclusive' vacation. (e.g. Beer/Cerveza was limited). The resort was also pretty empty, not that this is a bad or good thing, but just that the time of year chosen was one where there were fewer tourists in the country (or at least this resort). The staff was always really helpful and nice and even went as far as to arrange taxi rides into the city (Cienfuegos and Trindad) for me when requested.

customer service was very good rooms were okay but the beach needs some clean up need to pick up the garbage more often unfortunately it rained all week we only had 2 days of sun coffee machine was broken quite often they need to have more snacks between meals or a place that you buy food.

The only thing is that's Hotel mixed with a local Cuban people and tourist Canada the mixed together this service is no good especially in the restaurant and serving beers the staff in the hotel there are super nice the time I was there over 200 Cubans to came to hotel and it wasn't enough stuff to serve people

The resort has everything travellers expect in a Cuban all inclusive...great service, great food, great pools, great beach and clean rooms. ALL the staff are friendly and accommodating. As the saying goes...treat people respectfully; the sentiment will be returned to you. The resort is close to many off site excursions so go out and explore/enjoy the area!!!! Going to Cuba, you need to know it is not like home. The food is prepared their way ..so try samples of everything without wasting food that other quests would otherwise eat.

It was awful worst ever the pace is falling apart if it wasn,t for the nice staff it would be a nightmare no beach to swim in as it is full of seaweed writ to the shore sliding door wouldn,t lock no ac in cafertreia bugs and insects caused me great suffering took pictures of the mould sanitation is going downhill and could put ones health at risk esp seniors

Had a great first experience. Rooms were clean, buffet style food was pretty good with lots to choose from, and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. For being a 3 star, I was a bit worried, but i had a good experience, and would definitely go back, as well as recommend to all. Thank you Rancho Luna for a fun filled first time experience to Cuba, I really enjoyed myself

Grounds, beach area are nice. Large swimming pool. Public areas are ok, but washrooms lack soap and toilet paper. Rooms are nice but there are little ants crawling on walls and in bathroom areas. I got bitten on legs, arms and neck by either bedbugs, mosquitos or fleas (cannot decide which). Lots of stray cats and dogs on property. Dining area is airconditioned but very simple, for example: no table cloths, just glass tops. Food very basic and oftentimes tasteless. Hotel staff is friendly, however one feels that they expect gifts. Some of the kitchen/snack bar staff are overworked; often working 12 and 16 hour shifts. Most bartenders were nice except for a couple who in no uncertain terms suggested that they should be tipped; one even raised his tip jar reminding me of my "obligation".

There is a new manager. Very strange management style. Has decided that staff must work even longer hours so that he can cut down on numbers. Has fired some who cannot do so. The result is that service is not what it should be even though staff is trying its best. Odd new rules (no drinking in the comfy chairs next to the lobby bar ) but Cuban visitors — there are many on weekends — seem to be considered immune. Staff trying its best in spite of it all. Major problems inthe restaurant when there is a crowd because no extra staff is called on. The rooms are beings improved and the grounds are lovely. Still.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that we weren't to happy about was the rooms. Other then that the staff were amazing to us. The pool was a nice size for my son to swim in all day. We really enjoyed the beach and the beach bar. There was not enough lay down beds on the beach so maybe you should invest and get some more. But other the that the resort, beach and the food was nice.

the staf don t respect the touristes but for the cuban everything is free for all . The room are not secure at all .my back door was broke and the staf didn t care at all if i get rob. Plus they permit 5 persons in on room ??? Imagine the noise at 2 am. THEY CHANGE FOR THE WORST it suppose to be a HOTEL 5 STARS IT NO MORE than 2 STARS. AND IT IS THE FIRT TIME YOUR compagnie AFTER 5 TIMES GIVE ME A PLANE PLACE SO BAD ex c31 go c28 back ?????? WHY .Is this the way you treat your costomers .

Hotel is clean and well looked after. It is an old Russian army barracks converted to a hotel. The ocean is 300 metres from the hotel so if you have ocean front you need binoculars. The beach bar and grill is good. Food is bland and over cooked but you can always find something that is okay. Don't go to Cuba for the food. People are nice and friendly. Good value for the price. 4th time there.

Overall had a great vacation. This resort gives you what you paid for, everything was adequate. The entertainment was very good and we found lots to do between going to the city and excursions. With a little research you can find a lot of cool places in the area.

We loved the Hotel Costa Sur outside of Trinidad Cuba.. It is a small resort on a fabulous beach. We stayed in a bungalow on the beach, a bit more expensive, but worth it. The food was some of the best we have had in over 25 years of going to Cuba. The staff were charming and helpful. Getting into Trinidad is a breeze, It is a World Heritage site, and full of music and good restaurants. We met people who have been there over 30 times, one couple there for 3 months, others for 2 months. We will look into doing that for next year. A real find. That it is only a 3 star is misleading. For people who like beauty, swimming in calm seas, eating simply but well, and especially, peace and quiet, it is a perfect place.

Great people and good service. The resort has been in a bit of disrepair over the last while but new management has begun to make a difference. We are frequent visitors to this particular resort and recommend it for those who want a quiet get away. In the truest sense please remember your get what you pay for so if you are looking for a glitzy show this is not your ideal resort. What you will find is a friendly and engaged staff who will, if you smile and are polite, go our their way to make your stay enjoyable.

This hotel is suffering from the lack of everything in Cuba. Rooms: Moldy bathrooms because the bathroom's fan don't work. Towels were change everyday and they were bright and white. The maid did a great job every day. The linen needs serious updates. Food: IT was pretty much the same every day with no flavour. They need to hire more people during the peak times (New Year). Nobody was attending the buffet and ensuring to replenishing the food. Bar: Lack of creativity with the drinks. Any hotel worker was behind the bar to serve the drinks. I saw security people serving drinks without knowing what they were serving. They need to buy glasses and coffee cups to serve the drinks and coffees. Nobody can enjoy a coffee in a plastic cup. So, bring your cup from Canada. Entertainment: Really poor with no creativity. They were doing the same thing/show every night: a single guy singing by himself. No karaoke, no time to dance. I am glad we were in a group so we were entertaining ourselves. In the two weeks period we were there, we enjoyed one dancing show with talented dancers and singers. Also, they did a funny game night to select Mr. Rancho Luna. Staff: this is the best asset of the hotel. They are nice but they are not always on top of the services. They spend too much time looking at their phones. The bus to the city everyday is a great bonus.

Everything about the hotel is good. This is the third visit to the hotel in the last 5 years. They must be doing something right to attract me to the hotel. The food is good and plentiful. Rooms are clean, lots of hot water for baths. The only unfortunate thing that happened was the flight was delayed by 6 hours. We reached the Hotel at midnight. It was not the fault of the airline as explained by the pilot. We were informed that we will receive a voucher worth $150. for the inconvenience which can be used as credit next time we use Air Transat. If anyone knows how to apply for this credit, I hope I will be notified

The entire resort was exceptionaly clean. Even the beach was cleaned daily.The buffet was very well stocked with excellent variety,As always the staff were very polite . Cant wait to return again in March.

The resort is small and simple I recommend banking services where credit cards are accepted . No banks close to area . Servers should pay more attention to guest that are tipping rather then locals being rude and pushy... Overall good place for the price .

What a nice time. I only wish there was a little more selection of food it was relaxing at the pool with a short walk to the beach. The staff is friendly but seamed a little short in the restaurant. Overall a pleasant trip

People very friendly and try their best to help. Food is fair good and tasty. The beach not so good unless you walk to the public beach, which is very good. Nightly shows to entertain the tourists. Very friendly people and always friendly.

All was good, everything in working order. pool was in a great location.beach was very clean. rooms had a fridge flat screen tv. ac was in good working condition. not far from town, and from the airport.

If you go with an open mind and are not to fussy about the food you could have a good time, you know what they say, you get what you pay for. important info,- the safe opens with your door card which also starts the electricity once put in the slot .- the same cart opens your safe, so if you have an extra card to keep your electricity on while you are out and about . anyone entering your room can use that card to open your safe.- and ofcourse the maid has a master card that can open any safe.- another thing you will likely have air condition problems - it freezes over when the filter is blocked, which does not let air to pass through , set your dial to fan (low) for 25 to 30 minutes which will melt the ice , then set it back to med cool , will work for a day or two , enough time for them to change the filter, the one thing you must do is go to El -Necho- worth the $35 cuc. the hotel also has a shuttle going to town every morning , take insect rep.- the sand fleas could ruin your vacation.- and even worse , days when you get back . remember 2 and 3 star hotels in cuba are hit and miss.-

We have been to Rancho Luna - Cienfuegos many times. The reason for us travelling there is to visit people we call family (Cuban) and many friends. We have also vacationed in other places in Cuba. The hotel is not a gem but the people who work there are great and committed to making your stay enjoyable. However, there are a number of issues that need to be looked at in the hotel. It seems worse that when we travelled there last time. Things have gone down hill. The canopys over the walk ways are all gone. Destroyed I was told by bad storms. The chairs by the pool are all broken you may find one or two that are not but few and far between. The hotel used to always be painting and updating but not now. Paint is pealing off of the large mural by the pool and in other places. The rooms in the hotel could use more paint. The walls are dirty and if you look at the ceiling there is mold. There was a fridge in the room but smelt like something died in it. The food was not the greatest. It has been better but when we went there it was not tourist season yet and I know that come winter it will improve. A person does NOT go hungry. They updated the chairs in the lobby and by the lobby bar. Nice but why white. In the week we were there you notice the spilled coffee etc that was starting to stain them. One recommendation is to put some 110 in the lobby or places where we can charge our phones and tablets. There is one under the TV in the lobby but could use some more. The staff used to accomodate us by plugging into there front desk area one time but not now. Would I go back. YES, our friends are in the area and we know that to expect. They did a nice job on building a playground area for small kids and there were a lot of younger children there. It is great that they run the bus to the city each day. Nice touch.

Hotel Rancho Luna is a good hotel. The staff were very friendly . The hotel is very laid back. It's a 2 minutes walk to the beach from the hotel. Made so many friends. If you are looking for a trip to Cuba and want to save on the cost then this is the Hotel to go to.

The all-inclusive package was cheap to book for the week, and I was not expecting 4/5 star services. But there were issues that even a 2 star hotel should not have. 1. Beds in the room were terrible and the mattresses were dirty and extremely uncomfortable. The pillows had a pungent and sweaty odor on them. 2. The bathroom walls were all moldy and the shower curtain had a godawful stink to it. The floor of the shower area collected water that would not drain. I could not wait to get done with my daily shower and get out of the bathroom as soon as I could. 3. There were stray dogs and cats in the lobby and outside the buffet. The cats easily numbered in excess of 20. It felt very unhygienic and unsanitary that these animals would brush past your legs while you are sipping on your drink or eating a pizza in the lobby. A few times I even saw the cats jump onto the tables to grab the leftovers. 4. The staff at the reception ripped off the guests at least on two counts - i) The official exchange rate on the Canadian dollar fluctuated around 0.77 USD (~Cuban convertible peso) during the week. However, we were given only 0.72 CUC. So for every CAD100, the staff seemed to shortchange us and pocket the difference of 4-5 CUC. No receipts were provided. ii) 1CUC Internet cards were sold for 2CUC each.

This is my 14th time every year, twice this year to Rancha Luna and I had a great time. I met new friends and danced while the audience clapped as I am a dancer. A good time on the bus with all the men there and back doing the same thing I was doing. Robin Shore

the hotel is old but well kept and good value for the money. The beds need to be replaced and the hotel caters to a crowd that can not afford a more expensive hotel. if you can stay in trinidad which has a little more luxury to offer.

Main bar area fairly clean . Drinks are boring. The buffet food is what you expect at a 2 star resort . You can always find something to eat . The entertainment at nite and at pool not very good . The beach isn’t very good here . Lots of sand fleas. Ok resort for singles that are not picky. Hotel isn’t worth more then 500 plus . Been there many times . Rooms are clean and not fancy .

So many bed bugs in the bedroom. Bedsheets are not changed daily just spread to make it look goods.Bathrooms need repairing. Food quality is realy third class. Beach is not really useable. Uncontroled mosquitos and bugs everywhere.

No water for 18 hours. Food bad. Beach third class. Bug infest bedrooms..dirty pool no control people drinking in the pool. Kids peaing in the pools dpecially local proples children. Should spray sometging for bugs and modquitos

My wife and I were at the Rancho Luna resort from April 21-28. We are very unsatisfied with our experience and feel we did not get good value for our money. At times there was no water coming from the tap in our washroom. When there was water it came out a murky brown colour. The room was relatively clean but there was mold everywhere. The lights in the room were not working for 3 of the 7 nights. All drinks and coffee were served in plastic cups. The alcohol selection was horrible, no international alcohol only rum and beer. The beer tap broke down at the beach and there was no beer available for one of the days. There were two separate occasions where they ran out of coffee. If you weren't at the food buffet when it first opened there would be little of anything left, very limited food selection. There were no plates at the snack bar.. we had fries served to us in plastic cups. The beach had only three palapas to block the sun. The staff were friendly but the resorts offerings were very limited. We do not plan on returning.

The resort is in good repair. The pool is well maintained. The grounds are very good. Staff are friendly and lots of fun. The food is adequate. We ran out of water on a couple of occasions and they had to truck it in. Yes I would go back again

Our room was fine, a pair of double beds, despite requesting a King sized bed but you can't get everything you want. The food was fine and seemed to get better and more diverse as each day passed. The staff are as FRIENDLY as they were when I was last here 12 years ago. Minor damage to the site from the Hurricanes last year. VERY AMUSED to find the POOL now is filled with SEA WATER and not fresh water and more. So "cool" to float without SINKING to the bottom!! My ONLY GRIPE is that when invited to the "returning guest" dinner WE were not informed that the doors would ONLY BE OPEN for 10 MINUTES, ARRIVAL between 6:30 to 6:40 PM ONLY. OUR arrival at 6:50 PM meant we were NOT ALLOWED to enter and enjoy the company of other returning guests or the "special" dinner available!!! All in all a VERY NICE WEEK with my NEW WIFE and a chance to make NEW MEMORIES!!

I have been coming to this resort for years but last few years is deteriorating fast.Room moldy toilets and showers leaking unable to sleep changed three rooms in three days same happened to few more people which I meat at reception when they were informing staff .Very disappointed this time.

This is a laidback resort that has a beautiful setting. It has all the basics. Basic rooms, basic food,basic entertainment and I loved it. The people are friendly , the tours are cool and the beach offered great snorkellin , free paddle boats and catamaran

I visited Hotel Rancho Luna from March 2 > March 16, 2018. The price was a reasonable $1115 for the two weeks. This was my 2nd time there, as I was there at roughly the same time in 2017. I would go again. The flight was with Cubana Air, and was quite enjoyable. They provided a meal/snack, and you could buy a Cristal [Cuban beer] for $3.00. Both flights were on time, and your baggage allowance is DOUBLE what the other airlines allow. Naturally, I took clothing and other gifts for the staff in the extra bag. The room was on the small side, but was pleasant enough. There was a new LED television, but limited channels. The AC worked well, and there is no charge for the safe. The water pressure and hot water was exceptional: the best I've encountered in Cuba. The food was generally good, but not great. However, for a 3 star resort it was more than adequate. Breakfast was always good, and there was ample fruit at all meals. The abundant white grapefruit was the best I have ever tasted!! The liquidy yogurt at breakfast is very pleasant. Unfortunately there is only white bread, so you may want to take a source of fiber with you. The weather was superb: 2 weeks of warm [25 to 30] and sunny weather. Being on the south shore, such is quite common. The beach is not the white sand you find in Varadero or Cayo Coco, but is located in a bay, so the water is generally calm. The snorkeling is decent. The bottom is generally weedy: less so at the public beach, which is a 10 minute walk away. The pool is large and immaculate!! The staff at Hotel Rancho Luna are generally kind and caring, especially in the buffet. Do take gifts and tip on a regular basis. Resort workers earn about 20 CUC's [around $28] a MONTH. Hence, tipping them 1 or 2 CUC's [convertible pesos] helps immensely. They are generally wonderful people. I'm happy to recommend Hotel Rancho Luna: it's great value and more than adequate for a 3 star Cuban resort!! Harley Whitlock, Brantford, Ontario

Food was very basic,simple,healthy,meat,fish,eggs were being cooked while you wait,as well as in the buffet. Very clean,safe,friendly atmosphere. Family oriented.Beautiful beach,large pool and separate small one for the tiny tots. No obnoxious drinking .Rooms were good,strong toilet waterpressure which was unusual to me.Beds a little hard ( single mattress ).AC good. Taxis out front, $10cuc's or $15 Canadian,one way into town. In the evening people flood the streets downtown to socialize.Ample security,very nice friendly ladies ,easy to socialize,especially for the single guys ( highly recommended ). I had a very nice time,would recommend more for the single guy or couples looking to party while there is a lot to see historically and how people under a suppressive government live.

We enjoyed our one week stay at Club Amigo Costa Sur. There were not a lot of people at the time which was fine with us. The grounds are well kept, the room was always tidy and clean and the other buildings seemed fresh at all times. Food at the buffet and the grill was always delicious even if there was very little variety. The one a la carte restaurant served a lovely meal. Lots of fresh towels and linens. The washrooms in the lobby and the pool area were a constant disappointment. There was always a broken door, missing seats, and never enough toilet paper. They were also a fair distance from the beach. We often had to trek all the way back to our room to use a clean, dependable toilet. Our only other disappointment was that we could not upgrade to a bungalow even though we saw several that were unused. I do have to say that the staff were the friendliest we have ever met. Thank you to Club Amigo Costa Sur for a great week!

The hotel was a bit dated but very clean and the staff were lovely 😊 I would recommend this hotel and this resort to my friends The beach was beautiful and there was lots to do such as mini put ping pong 🏓 etc

This resort is quietly isolated, not in an artificial tourist trap. Weather excellent. Free shuttle daily into the Cienfuegos, maybe 20 minutes. Bang for your buck. Airport to hotel 20 minutes (bonus). Staff very friendly, hotel is clean, variety of food continually all day, local drinks free. If you want a 5* go elsewhere. If you would like to do numerous all inclusive trips, include Rancho Luna. Lots to do, if you choose. Repeat customers get a special free lobster dinner. Most staff understand English. We were quite pleased. We met many folks who have returned several times.
