Blau Varadero: Amazing Resort
This hotel is awesome. The staff are very welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The restaurants always had plenty of food, we didn’t experience any food or beverage shortages. The hotel is extremely clean. The pool and beach have the animation teams that provide activities for you should you choose to participate and in the evening there’s quality entertainment. The Blau is the only hotel I go to in Varadero. I can’t wait to go back!

Blau Varadero: Worth it
We went from Toronto YYZ to Varadero on Sun Jan 11-18. We arrived super later due to delayed flight. We chose select. If you’re even thinking about choosing it, just do it. ARRIVAL: Front desk staff was excellent and spoke better English than a lot of current Canadians. They were fast, explained everything we needed to know and do, and got us to our room quickly. They continued to be helpful for the entire trip when needed. ROOM: Our room was clean, AC on and working great. Everything we needed. Water and beer and cola. 2 beds instead of a king so we pushed them together. They were a bit too firm for our liking but that is just personal preference. Doesn’t mean all the beds are this way. The room was updated. The bathroom was not, but it was clean and not disgusting. It was good. FOOD: This is Cuba. Although we had never been, I had done my research and listened to others who had travelled to this country. I set my expectations low. Firstly, there was always lots of food. Maybe not a wide variety, but you won’t starve. Every day seemed like the variety was becoming more and more. Breakfast- Large variety of food from cereal to omelets. They make the omelets and eggs right on the flat top grill in front of you. Toppings for the omelets include ham, onion, peppers, spinach, pineapple, peppers and sometimes other stuff. Fruit, bread(they had a toaster), eggs and even crepes or super thin pancakes. They had coffee and juice. There’s no traditional bacon or sausage like you would find at home. There’s diced hot dogs and possibly some kind of pork. Plenty of food but not an enormous variety. I had an omelet, a little bit of mashed potato and a couple pieces of hot dogs and was stuffed. Could have just had the omelet and been full. Just for reference I am 6’7” tall and not thin and love to eat. Lunch- Great buffet. Pretty good variety of food for Cuba. Pasta available every day with stuff to go in it as well(cheese, ham, onion, tomato, spinach, sometimes more). Fish, several kinds of pork, a few days beef and almost every day chicken. Veggies and fruit, bread, potatoes, salad. Quite a variety considering the country. There are also burgers. Now, these are not what you will be used to. They are more like sliders sized. But they are tasty. There was ketchup and mustard and mayo. All of them are not the same as you would buy in a grocery store. They had pastries for desert and even ice cream. Beach Bar Lunch- I just wanted to throw this in quickly before I forgot about it. There is a bar 100’ from the beach along the boardwalk where you can get lunch. Burgers and even fries. The only place on the resort I saw fries. Everything was great there. They have throwaway containers so you can take your lunch back to the beach. Super convenient. Grab lunch and a refill of booze and head back to the beach. After the scheduled lunch time, you can get ham and cheese sandwiches which they grill. After 4pm they have chicken available but I’m not sure for how long. They are not awesome. But, if you need a little filler in between meals or to soak up a little alcohol, they hit the spot. They are similar to a grilled cheese. Ketchup and mustard available. Dinner- The same kind of variety as expected. Pork, chicken, hotdogs and some nights fish. They had more and more beef as the week went by which was a nice surprise. Again they had the flat top grills going cooking chicken, fish or beef. One night they had lamb. Didn’t expect that. Pasta, bread, veggies, potatoes, pumpkin, some seafood, fruit and salad. Something that everyone needs to be aware of: The sooner you go to eat, the more variety there is. They run out of stuff because there is not lots of every single thing. Some things they have lots of. This applies specifically to the à la cartes. À la cartes- There are 2. International and Italian. The lunch buffet building by the pool is one of them and there is a separate building by the tennis courts for the other. Now, if you book a later dinner time, you might not have all the menu choices. We heard through people we met that this happened to them. Not a big menu. International was a beef plate, chicken plate or veggie plate. Came with an appetizer, piece of bread and a desert. We booked 7pm and had no issues. Others who booked later on had chicken available and one dessert option. The chicken was excellent at both restaurants. The Italian menu was similar with a pasta option I believe. If you book select, you get 2 à la cartes to start with the option of a third if it’s available. Not guaranteed. We didn’t even try to book a third one. We didn’t care. Buffet was great for us. Bars: There are 6 bars. Not all are open at the same time. Drinks are served differently sometimes from bar to bar. There is an actual bar on the beach which is super convenient and then the beach bar and bathrooms 100’ away. There is one bar only for select guests. The Quiet bar. It’s off to the side of the pool a bit. Has indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Better quality alcohol and more variety along with some chips, olives and nuts to snack on. There is a coffee bar. I’m not a variety coffee guy so I can’t really critique it. They gave me a cup with coffee in it and it woke me up as coffee should. Espresso, cappuccino, Irish, americano, cafe mocha. Maybe one or two that I just can’t remember. Open 7-5 which is great for that mid afternoon grogginess that creeps up sometimes. A few pastries available also while they last. Overall cleanliness: This resort is clean. There are workers going at it 24/7. We arrived at 1am and did a quick tour before bed and there were people working at 2am. Bathrooms are clean and taken care of. Did not see one clogged toilet. Don’t flush toilet paper. Many bathrooms in convenient spots. Staff: Super friendly, super polite. Down to earth people just trying to do their job and keep everyone happy. There is a bit of a language barrier sometimes. Not always. Learn a bit of Spanish, even just a few words here and there to make communication easier. You can always look up anything on your phone. Wifi: It’s ok. It’s not awesome and it’s not garbage. If you want to scroll Facebook all day, no problem. If you want to upload video reviews of resorts you may have issues. You may need a vpn to access some apps. I downloaded songs and watched videos with almost no issues. Wifi works great in the hotel and around the pool. Pool: One pool. It’s fairly big. It’s clean. Seating fills up fairly quickly like every other resort. I did notice however, the seats were filled all the time. No empty seats with a towel holding it for someone for hours and hours. The Beach: What you are really in Cuba for. It doesn’t disappoint. It’s huge. Long and wide. Lots of seating. A large area for select guests. Beds to rent for regular guests and beds for the select guests. The water is warm. The sand is powder. It is paradise. The colour of the water is the same as all the advertising pictures or videos you’ve ever seen. Clean and tidy and like I said before, it even has its own bar. Vendors do come to the beach but they stay down near the water and are not super pushy. There is a quad that bogeys down the beach that can make you a drink out of a pineapple along with the pieces of pineapple they carve out to make room for the drink. Blau beach area(in the water and land) is all sand. No rocks or coral reefs. We walk partway towards the end of the strip along the beach and Blau has a far far superior beach setup and section. Entertainment: There is always something going on. There is a schedule on the wall of the first floor by the one elevator that is probably 10’ long with hourly activities and nightly activities. Yoga by the beach or pool, dancing by the beach or pool, ring toss game, bocce ball, archery, pool tables, ping pong tables, badminton, pool volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, basketball and I’m sure I’m missing some. Pool foam party on Fridays at 4pm. There is a sauna and hot tub. A gym, a doctor and a pharmacy. There are 2 stores. A few clothes and soaps/shampoo and meds in one and cigars in the other. Nightly entertainment starts at around 9:30. They have a stage. Dancing, quiz night and magic shows, white night, Canadian night and Cuban night. There is an area called the piano room. It has a bar that is not really open until the evening. A singer who was excellent. Very talented. And sometimes someone will play the piano with her who was also very skilled. Very adaptable with the genre of music. Can play/sing old and new songs. Convenient for all ages. Late night disco every night at 11:30pm on the beach. Some things I’ve seen in reviews that perhaps need some clarification. The main bar is indoors on the first floor and you can smoke at the tables all around it and at the bar. I’m a smoker but I understand this bugs people. It’s Cuba. It’s a smoking country. There are sections where there is no smoking. The piano bar and the central lobby area with all sorts of seating. The piano bar area has an outdoor smoking area. This place is wheel chair accessible for the most part. Two sets of 2 elevators and ramps where needed. You will not be able to navigate the beach in a wheelchair but you will be able to come to it on the boardwalk. I would highly recommend this resort. Even people on our bus to the airport including the bus guide spoke highly of this resort (and a couple others I Airport to hotel was 40 minutes(ish). You have to drop off others at resorts. Hotel is about halfway up the peninsula.

Blau Varadero: Mixed feelings on Blau
The grounds, rooms and public areas are great, so is the beach. The pool area was OK, old and tired. Broken and missing under water lights, lack of cleaning, fixtures such as handrails and water volleyball net posts, were either loose or pulling out of the cement. We saw the same debris in the pool, day after day. Found many of the staff indifferent and the food quality was by far the worst we have ever had in Cuba. The ala carts were not worth going to. We had 4 reservations during the week, 2 at the Italian and 2 at the International. After trying both one we never went back again. From the reviews we read, this was not what we expected. We had staff and longtime returning quests tell us that Blau is no longer managing the hotel, and the Cuban hotel management company is taking it over. We also had returning guests tell us they were extremely disappointed with things and that since March the place had gone downhill fast.

Blau Varadero: Good resort
Hotel grounds are beautiful, really nice resort. Lobby bar needs more help , they are not fast and don't care even if u tip them well. They do not want to take there own currency, always asking for US dollars, then if u don't have a nice crispy US bill they won't take it. Air conditioner needs to be cleaned filters etc, that might stop the mold and bad smell in the rooms . Over all yes good place

Blau Varadero: Blau Varadero - Amazing Beach!
Overall, I did enjoy my stay at this resort. This is a 20 year old resort that has been very well maintained. There are a few areas that need fixing up, but overall its still really nice. Great, comfortable beds. AC, water pressure, hot water, all very good. This is also a very lively resort. Shows every night and a "disco" at the beach bar with a dj. I found the staff here very, very good. Everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to help you any way they could. The absolute best thing about this resort is the beach. Absolutely breathtaking. Having a bar right on the beach is a major plus as well. Obviously, being the off season, food was lacking and I am not sure if the lack of quality of food is due to being low season or whether it is just the state of Cuba at the moment, but the food was my only disappointment.

Blau Varadero: Fantastic week… almost perfect
This was my first visit to this Blau resort but not my first time in Cuba or at a Blau property and as usual it was fantastic, from food which was delicious, The à la cartes even better, just the buffet gets a bit repetitive at times but we switched it up… to the cleanliness of the property, the rooms, etc everything worked great! Some bad service at lobby bar though it seems the one gentleman working there only served pretty girls and rolled eyes at men or slammed stuff around, however most other nights the lobby bar had great service and lots of other bars to go to anyways… I would definitely return here

Blau Varadero: Ok resort but won’t return
We arrived in the evening Check in went smooth Was able to grab late supper at buffet.,before it closed. The elevators are horrible, you have to wait and wait they only hold 7 ppl at a time and no ventilation, so very hot. Room was very nice withi lots of space. . Wonderful view. Our room was kept clean every day. We had the select room with the benefit of the select breakfast in a special area in the buffet restaurant where they wait on you and serve you breakfast from a small menu.. We waited and waited for someone to come and start with some water. No body came, so we grabbed our own breakfast from the buffet. Then we were served coffee and water. Next day we sat and waited to be served. Again It took awhile before anyone came to greet us, with the menu to get started. They look straight at us and still no service. They need to get organized.. We should have had better service. It took the four of us at least a hour and a half to start and finish breakfast. We were left waiting way too long. It was as if they wanted us to go get our own food. This is what we paid for. We tried it a couple more times and same thing every time. We were not impressed. The ppl working in the buffet are very friendly and pleasant but not organized. We even sat in a different part of the buffet and we had better service! The pool was not even vacuumed while we were there. Lots of sand on the bottom. The lobby bar in the evening was horrible! We waited in line of 20 minutes to get a drink. They need to hire more bartenders and servers. So we ended up going to the select bar. Finally the best place to be. Great service great drinks, air conditioning and light snacks. Don’t know there names but the bartender and waitress was the best.❤️ The lunch buffet was always very busy. So we always went to the burger shack for lunch. Got sick of that. The resort was full to capacity which make it worse. Ppl were like vultures, taking all the cheese and ham slices on the tray and waiting for them to bring out more. Ppl don’t care anymore it all about themselves. Would I go back NO Also ppl would reserve the lounge chairs around the pool and would come later. We had a hard time finding 4 chairs together! Overall this place was ok but we will not return. This was our 5th time to Cuba, so we know what to expect. The ppl of Cuba are wonderful ❤️

Blau Varadero: Blau Varadero - Stay August 22 - August 29, 2025
The hotel is showing signs of aging and is in need of updating/repairs. We had several issues: leaky air conditioner, cupboard doors were not working (stuck), patio doors that did not make contact which shut off the air conditioning (used a hanger to remedy this), coffee maker did not work. Most of these issues where rectified quickly when brought forward. House Keeping: not up to expectations (room not made up until 5:00 p.m when we are trying to get ready to go out and had the maid in our room), had to call front desk for soap (none left), shampoo and body wash. The cleaning was minimal and not as thorough as we have had in other Varadero hotels. Huge mosquito infestation during first days of our vacation. I know this is environmental and beyond the hotels control but my concern was when they were doing th fumagation of the shrubs around the restaurants; right around the dinner hour when guests are going to dinner. This should be done in the early morning hours when there are less guests affected. Food - they don't seem to have this figured out. We spent so much time waiting in line for food, whether at the buffet or at the beach snack bar. There seems to be a lack of coordination when it comes to how the line's are coordinated (guests budding in front of other guests because of the lack of organization). They seem to prepare the minimum amount forcing the guests to wait in line (ie. cooking 6 burgers at a time when there are 20 people waiting in line) I don't think I would return to Blau Varadero as we have been to the Melia Internacional and Melia Las Americas and there is not comparison. Melia's have a much higher standard when it comes to food variety and volume, cleanliness of rooms and overall condition of the hotels. Also much better selection of restaurants and bars.

Blau Varadero: Great experience
If you know Cuba and it’s political situation you would understand to why people from Canada choose this Country! I love thiese natural, virgin amazing beaches that this Country offers! It’s People is the second reason I visited this place! In varadero - Blau Varadero resort considering the low season and light issues that Country suffers, i really was surprised that we couldn’t tell a thing! The food was as per Cuban standards- not bad, and not great! As per rooms- yes could be outdated but considering the years that this hotel has, to us was great! What i was impressed with was the towels that we forgot and lost. Sarah, one of the managers at the checkout lobby was more than professional the way she handle it! We didn’t pay the fee of 15$ each towel if lost by the guests! I know that i will go back and if you are considering at this day and age travelling to varadero, Blau Varadero its in the low budget and fun to go. However Top three resorts depending on your budget staring from most expensive if you could afford are #1- Melia International #2- Sol Palmeras #3- Blau Varadero

Blau Varadero: Fantastic Spot
Just returned from the Blau Varadero. This is a fantastic resort. Nice and compact in size. We had a Select Oceanview Room. Perfect. Great balcony to sit on looking at the pool and ocean. Everything worked great in the room. Air conditioner...awesome! Beer, Water, and Pop in the fridge. Great water pressure in the shower and hot if you want it. Our house keeper was great. She kept everything nice and clean. The lobby at this place is amazing!!! Totally unique. I’ve been to many different resorts. Nothing like this one! We had Select so we also had access to the Chill Out Bar in the evening. Very nice (air conditioned) spot to hang out for a drink or cappuccino (delicious). The staff there are so friendly! Select also has a morning breakfast restaurant. Order from the menu. We went there most days. Food at this resort was great. I’m a picky eater. Lots of selection. No shortages for us. The 2 a la carte restaurant were yummy. The beach….so beautiful! Soft white sand. The water is nice and warm but refreshing. We’ve been to many different resorts in Cuba. 4-5 stars. The Blau for us was definitely a 5 Star. We’ve never gone to the same resort twice but I could see us returning here.

Blau Varadero: WORST Hotel I've ever been
Washroom door knob fell on my toes, rooms so ordinary, filthy surroundings, Foods taste AWEFUL, Fruit Drinks taste nothing, same shit foods served daily, we ended up buying our food elsewhere, pool opens at 10am - 5pm while sun still up and shining so hotel is quite the whole time, No entertainment , No nightlife at all. We sneak at nearby hotels like Paradisus wherein lots of guess partying and enjoying their stay. Highly NOT Recommended this Hotel, it's waste of time and money. It's easy to buy Good Reviews.

Blau Varadero: Excellent Week at the Blau Varadero!
Arrived home on Wednesday from the Blau Varadero and had a wonderful time! The resort was beautiful - very clean and well maintained. The lobby area is serene and beautiful with the hanging plants and gardens! We upgraded to Select which was nice. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean and our upgraded view of the ocean and bay was breathtaking! The staff are hardworking and attentive. Besides the wonderful Cuban people, we come for the beautiful white sand beach and crystal clear ocean! The food was plentiful and pretty good. We did not have any difficulty finding something delicious to eat. No notable shortages with respect to food or drink and no problem with wifi while we were there. The Select Clubhouse was a nice touch with snacks and upgraded beverages. We would definitely recommend this resort and go back for a repeat visit. Our only recommendations to make this resort top-level would be with respect to the Select upgrade. At check-in, there is a separate check-in desk, but no one was sitting there and we had to line up at the registration desk with everyone else and then we were taken to the desk to finish check-in and receive a glass of sparkling wine. To make Select guests feel special, they should be greeted immediately and then directed to the separate check-in desk. Also, the Select area on the beach is no different then the other area. Perhaps some upgraded loungers with tables for your drinks. Also, we only had chair service at the beach one day, other than that we went up to the bar ourselves. A special mention to our maid Iryas, who took good care of us. Our friend Javier, who gave us excellent service at the snack bar, beach bar and buffet. Yohanis in the Select bar, who greeted us with a smile everyday and made our delicious drinks. Finally, Marilyn at the a la carte reservation desk, who was very helpful and pleasant and Carlos at the Italian restaurant, who was always smiling and attentive. There are many more, but I did not get all of their names. Overall, a wonderful time at the Blau Varadero!

Blau Varadero: Good Value and a Quality Destination
Blau Veradaro March 2nd to March 9th Our 4th time at this hotel. The last time we were here was 2013. We were given a room upgrade on the 6th floor as returning guests. The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. There were both 220 and one 110 electrical outlets. There was some wear and tear on some of the cushions on the chairs, but nothing significant. The mini fridge had 2 cans of beer and a few bottles of water in it, which were restocked each day. We chose “Bay View” which is the side looking over the hotel entrance and towards the road. We like that side, there is morning sun and afternoon shade on the balcony, and you cannot hear the activities from the pool side. The Hotel and grounds are still very attractive and well kept. The staff are all very nice and welcoming. Although we were not drinking hard liquor, the brands stocked were recognizable brands. There were soft drinks and some non-alcoholic drinks also available. I would recommend you bring a thermos mug/cup to reduce the waste generated by the flimsy plastic glasses they use at the pool and beach bars. We were always able to find chaise lounges around the pool or on the beach. There was the occasional mosquito in the evenings so bring insect repellent in you want to be insured of not getting a bite. I didn’t get any bites, my partner got a few. The food was plentiful and there were lots to choose from on the buffets. Some things were absent but considering the hardships the Cuban people experience with shortages, this is to be expected. Breakfast buffet included cereal, breads and baked goods including croissants, smoothies, (sometimes there were less selections of fruit than other times), salads, hot vegetable items, eggs and an omelette station. There were sausages some days, but not bacon. Coffee was served at the table, and there is a coffee shop open 7am to 5pm everyday where you can get a variety of coffees. There was yogourt and milk, although I suspect some of the milk was made from powdered milk, it was quite suitable. Some days there would be items on the buffet and then the next day they would be gone. Items like peanut butter, prunes etc. nothing significant. The lunch buffets were plentiful and there was always fresh fish, (sometimes very bony) and pork cutlets made on the grill. There was also a pasta bar at lunch. French fries were only available at the beach bar where hamburgers could be had as well. The staff rotate between roles, and someone should let the cook at the beach bar know that one cannot empty 2 large bags of frozen fries into a deep frier and expect them to cook evenly or in less that 15 to 20 minutes, as I witnessed one day. The next day there was a different cook who understood how deep frying worked. The wine served at meals was good, coming mostly from Spain or South Africa. The a la cart restaurants were both nice and the food was nicely presented. The service was excellent, the wines were very nice. The customer representatives on the duty desk where you request your a la cart restaurant reservations are very nice and accommodating. We asked for and received some extra a la cart vouchers, as we preferred the a la cart restaurants over the buffets. There is lots of music and activities during the day. We tried out rifle target practice, and although they were older air guns, it was fun. Thanks to Larzarus for letting me take a few extra shots! There was also archery practice at the firing range, and games and activities at the pool. Personally, we didn’t like so much music at the pool, so we moved to the beach where there is no music but the sound of the surf. And the beach is beautiful with clear water and white sand. The entertainment mostly consisted of musical presentations and dance shows. The shows were over at 11pm and even though the lobby bar was open late, the hotel was quiet after that. We went into Varadero one day by bus, but there is really very little to see or do. There are some bars and restaurants there as well. We would recommend this destination for a relaxing holiday, of good value. A final note. On the bus ride back to the airport the host thanked us as Canadians for our assistance. Just visiting Cuba helps the whole island and is a major source of income for the country. We were thanked as a country for our help and assistance by Canadian corporations who help in their oil and gas industry without exploiting them or taking all the profits offshore. We were told how all the Cuban rum is aged in Canadian 10-year-old barrels, and only Canadian barrels, and we were told how all the food grade paste used in the manufacturing of the cigars comes exclusively from Canada. It made us feel proud, and hopefully more Canadians will support the Cuban people buy choosing Cuba as a holiday destination.

This is our second time at the Blau. I really loved it last year but this year I found that the resort was showing it's age. We booked Select this year, as we thought we would get a better room. I expected a room on the 12th or 11th floor but got a room on the 9th floor. The view was OK but would have been better on the upper floors and in the middle of the building. There was a roach in one of my dress that was hanging up in the closet. It scared the crap out of me when I put it on. Also, there was a leak in the hallway in front of my room for over 4 days and there was lots of water. There was also a leak inside our room near our closet which was made it very dangerous to walk. The breakfast at the Select was not cooked properly and it upset our stomach. I was enjoying the ham and cheese at the Snack bar until I got sick and notices it was because the sandwiches were out for many hours in the heat when they should have been stored in a fridge. I was going to go back again next year but I may not unless things improve.

Blau Varadero: Wouldn’t recommend
Stayed at this resort from June 29-July 6 2024. Let me start by saying that I am not a difficult person to please-I’m not a diva, I don’t expect exceptional service and I’m a pretty laid back person. Everyone knows you don’t go to Cuba for the food, and ironically, the food is the only thing that I won’t complain about. The grounds were beautiful (ok-another thing I won’t complain about) the beach was amazing and the food was surprisingly good-for Cuba. The drinks were not good—at all. For a good cup of coffee, go to Coffee Corner on the 3rd floor. Get Ernesto to make you a cold coffee-it’s delicious and he’s amazing!!! The buffet for breakfast and lunch is out by the pool-no air and it’s open so the birds fly in and help themselves to the food. A cockroach was running on the food and up the leg of the buffet table and one of the workers just brushed it to the ground and stepped on it. They had to close this buffet room and give it a deep clean because so many people were getting sick. At one of the a la carte restaurants, everyone who ate there on Tuesday night got food poisoning. Cockroaches run rampant in the bathroom on the 3rd floor-right by coffee corner and I did see cockroaches in our room-I’m just so grateful that I didn’t see them before our last night there. On the plus side-I called the front desk to complain about the A/C in the room and he said he would send a technician and the guy knocked on the door in less then 5 minutes. The next day I had to call again because the coffee maker didn’t work and by the time we got back from breakfast, it had already been traded for a new one. Another down side is that the entertainment plays on a very small stage at the main floor bar and it’s a vaulted ceiling with the rooms overlooking this area-it’s a beautiful scene- but when the music plays, it’s so loud that they sound like they’re standing right outside your room door with a state-of-the-art surround sound system and it just doesn’t stop until 10;30pm. I get it-you’re on vacation and you’re supposed to have a good time-and I do-but it’s not my idea of a good time to listen to opera so loud that my ear drum vibrates and my brain rattles. They need to plan that better. I’ve been to Varadero many times and I’ve always had a great time but this was the first time that I wouldn’t recommend the resort that I stayed at. Food: 7/10 Service: 6/10 Entertainment: 0/10 Cleanliness: 4/10 Beach: 10/10

Blau Varadero: Great resort!
We stayed at Blau Varadero at the beginning of June and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay and experience. We went for sun and beach but we enjoyed our stay well beyond that. Staff is amazing! Grounds and facilities are kept very clean. Our room (bayview) was very nice, spacious and clean. We were pleasantly surprised with food which was excellent. There was plenty of local fruits, papaya, mango, agawa and pineapple at each meal. Good variety of vegetables, fresh and baked. Two to three sort of meats, various dishes, for lunch and dinner. They even had paella on the beach one day. Entertainment was also excellent. Variaty of events throughout a week featuring: opera, rock, salsa, and even ballet in water! All these complemented by Blau entertainment team. Piano bar offers quieter and relaxing atmosphere and they make good cocktails. We went to both a la card restaurants. International has a nice atmosphere. Meal was good, but we prefer buffet for variety especially fruits Disco starts at 11pm at the beach bar which is far enough from the hotel to have a quite night for sleep. The last but not least all staff is doing great in their job and they deserve very much our tip. Tip them generously and don't forget those ones who are taking care of grounds. Yes, they share the tip, but still, they are very grateful when we think about them too. PS we also brought some higene products to share mainly with those who don't work in the tourism. Staff for kids would also be appreciated. One more thing, we felt safe all along our travel and stay, at the hotel and on the beach!

Blau Varadero: Cockroaches
The hotel was full of cockroaches almost everywhere, even in the restaurant and I was really upset with that especially when you’re about to serve yourself with food and the cockroaches are playing around on the table or on the floor. It was a bad experience even though it wasn’t first time going to the same hotel, but overall I like this hotel, but not with cockroaches in it.

Blau Varadero: Highly Recommended Resort
This is my first time at the Blau Varadero. I would highly recommend the resort to others. a few shortages, but nothing to complain about. The, food for me was ok, no complaints from me. The resort is clean, the staff is amazing and friendly. The entertainment crew gets you involved and the beach bar night disco keeps your dancing all night long. But, you need to bring Mosquito bug spray and we did find ants in our room. ** something to watch for**

Blau Varadero: Exceptionally Cleaning and Beautiful Beach
We had a fantastic trip to Blau Varadero April 16-23, 2024. The resort was modern but classically designed in the form of a pyramid with glass elevators. Gorgeous but this was irritating at times as there were only 4 elevators for the entire hotel and they were quite small so we often waited or were incredibly crowded. Otherwise a stunning hotel with a gorgeous hanging garden, marble floors, stained glass and walkout pristine white beach. The hotel was the cleanest I’ve experienced in Mexico or Cuba ( a combined 7 trips) and our maid was a hard worker, sweet and kind and lovely. She came our last day to give us a card and goodbye hug. The food was good despite some minimal supply chain and shortages issues. We heard from others on our trip home they had more issues at other resorts. We loved the a la carte International restaurant. Sarah from the hotels PR desk made our reservations as well as booked us a private Cuban Car tour for Havana. Highly recommended. My one criticism was as a non-drinker, the bar staff at the pool bar was polite but perhaps on autopilot and served me rum every time, despite my request repeatedly for “sin alcohol”. After day one we switched to the beach or lobby bar and never had another issue. Highly recommend the Pina Colada blended fresh with nutmeg, with or without rum (according to my Boyfriend it was his favorite too - with double rum!!) Apart from my pool bar experience, alll of the staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Would recommend. The shows and activities were great but the hotel is 18+ with no activities for kids, and the adults that were there tended to more reserved and often middle age or above. Lots of Europeans and Canadians and various language groups. Not really a party resort and too far down the beach to walk out into the Varadero club/bar/restaurant scene if that is what you are looking for. ??

Blau Varadero: Definitely try elsewhere
First off, this is my 8th time to Cuba. We know what to expect, we understand the food and drinks and have never complained until now. To say there are "shortages" would be an extreme understatement. We visited other resorts and had friends at others in Varadero while we were there and they had very few things missing (mostly TP and tequila). Shame on Sunwing and Trip central for selling this resort. The staff were even commenting on how bad it's gotten and how the quality since ownership changed has been terrible. We had no pop 6 out of the 7 days, no vodka, rye or tequila the entire trip, and the last day and a half no rum! We only had dark rum earlier in the week, never had white rum the entire trip. We paid for select service which gave us the chill out bar, and that was the only place the drinks were decent enough the drink but only in the evenings and during dinner so not much time there. The food, well again, we are not picky, been to Cuba many times and yet this was horrifying. I'm not sure if the resort or people involved are paying for reviews, but we booked here due to the good reviews, and this is far from the truth! Again, a party of 4, we are simple eaters and have been to Cuba many many times with no issue. The food was absolutely terrible. I can't believe we paid what we did for this resort and we are not happy. No drinks, no juice, no pop and not much for food. Buffet was really bad, although the bread was good. Same food reused from breakfast through dinner and not at the correct temperatures. No pizza, fries, or simple food you normally get. Raw chicken, NO fresh fish other than a black fish with so many bones you wouldn't be able to eat it. For 2 days they actually served the TAIL of the fish, not even the actual fish (gross). We didn't have hotdogs or burgers as they stated and we went many times to the "24 hour snack bar" and it was not serving any food at all. The coffee bar was the best part of the resort, friendly staff and great coffee. Definitely not worth all the money paid to go though. Sunwing has options listed that you get for select and they aren't even accurate and when the rep spoke with the desk, they said no and that they have told Sunwing to change the listing many times so not helpful to us. To say we are disappointed is an extreme understatement. Definitely got rooked, would say more but at the end of the day, buyer beware and stay away! Go to Paridusus or Royalton right down the road, beautiful, no shortages and amazing food.

Blau Varadero: Amazing Resort Design
We were at Blau Varadero for 7 days in March 2024. The hotel is huge and spacious. Inside foyer and courtroom decorated with live plant festooned many floors high are quite impressive. The Select room we stayed in was quite big and nicely equipped. The room service was thorough and efficient. Room Tv program quality was terrible! Food was availabe as buffet. There were many vegetables, fruits and baked goods. Pork and beef were poorly cooked. Chicken were hard to find but edible. There were no eggs or egg containing meals. The a la carte dinners were nicely set with the string quartet playing classical and popular music. The food was nicely served but again pork and beef were poorly cooked (either chewy or hard to bite), we settled for chicken and we were OK. Hospitality and eagerness of the staff to make guests happy were quite touching. For this alone we might consider going there again.

Blau Varadero: Perfect Holiday
First time in Cuba & this resort was as nice as any we’ve stayed at elsewhere (Mexico, DR). Spacious, clean rooms. Meticulously kept grounds. Very lovely natural areas on the property (not all concrete). Resorts are not on top of each other & very few beach vendors. Numerous beach chairs available & many permanent thatched umbrellas. The beach is very wide with fine sand. The water is beautiful and you can walk out a good distance before the water gets deep. No waiters on the beach but there is a bar on the beach. The beach restaurant is amazing, you can also order paninis which are delicious. Pool side bar & restaurant are quite enjoyable. The main buffet has great breakfasts - eggs & omelettes & French toast & pancakes & smoothies made while you wait. There was a shortage of chicken, beef & fruit (and vodka & gin) but plenty of other food & drink that it didn’t matter at all. The coffee in the buffet is weak but the coffee bar is amazing (latte, cappuccino, Irish coffee, Americano..). The employees are so sweet & accommodating. We made use of the tennis & pickle ball courts, the badminton & ping pong and the volleyball net on the beach. There were other activities that we just didn’t have time for! The lobby is beautiful with natural vines. There are many lawn chairs around the pool. The nightly entertainment is very good and ends by 10:30/11:00. The wifi connection doesn’t last long without reconnecting (but not the end of the world). We did bring a few supplies (pita, peanut butter, Costco snacks such as trail mix & peanuts, S&P, hot sauce, cup of soup, Kleenex). I would bring canned tuna, face cloths, conditioner, cereal next time. Transportation from airport is an hour max (depends on drop offs). No one suffered from Gastro ailments but we did bring meds just in case.

Blau Varadero: The best resort so far in Cuba
We have been to Cuba for 20 times and this resort was by far the best that I ever been at. The food was good. There was always lots to eat. The hamburgers are awesome. I have never eaten meat in Cuba before. The staff was awesome. The room was clean with a great oceanview. The lobby with the hanging plants is breathtaking. The resort was quaint and cozy. No lineups anywhere. That's a first for us. Was even able to change my towel everyday. No need to go at 6am to the beach to reserve your chair. I will certainly go back again!

Stayed in the Oceanview select room on the 8th floor. The room was beautiful spacious and clean. Maid service was phenomenal! Designs on my bed daily, the room was always immaculate when she left. Food was very good! A bit of wait in the buffet because there are a lot of people at the resort but only 2 a la carte resturants. Beach is a beautiful area with lots of room. A bit lacking in the liquor. No vodka most days and when they did have it it didn't taste good. Also no Havana club at all in the whole resort. All of the staff is amazing and friendly. Blau Varadero: Wonderful Resort, even better staff!
I never write reviews but Blau Varadero deserves one. From start to finish, our experience was fantastic. The hotel lobby is stunning. The rooms are not super fancy but they are updated and clean. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Cuba - For reference, I’ve been to Cuba over a dozen times. They had a variety of meat options including chicken, pork, beef and fish. They had lobster at the main buffet and the burgers at the pool grill were very tasty. With what resources they have, they did an excellent job serving a variety of options. The staff is exceptional. They remember your name, they’re attentive and friendly and go above and beyond. Jennifer at the main buffet is wonderful and I hope to see her again! I have no doubt that I will stay at Blau Varadero again and hopefully sooner than later!

Blau Varadero: Beautiful and Friendly
Traveled December 3-10. First time at this resort. Will be back again for sure. Room: little outdated but clean and functioning. Great maid service, cute towel and blanket displays all week. Handwritten notes from staff. comfortable beds, great view. Air worked really well and always had lots of hot water and pressure. Lobby / central area: Loved the vines, so pretty, especially at night. Lots of places to sit, chat, relax, listen to music or hang out. Loved the open concept. Didn't make you feel like you were in a high rise. Not sure what the open area between the rooms on the inside. Could do something with it to make it look nicer or cleaner. Only complaint. Ohh and we got stuck a few times on the elevator. Not a big deal, ring the bell and within minuets you are moving again. Food: Had heard mixed reviews on the Al carte so we skipped it. I have a very sensitive stomach and never ever went hungry. Infact was able to eat the bread there unlike back home. Food was decent, lots of it. Didn't eat half the snacks I brought just in case. It is Cuba... lower your expectations and you will be happy and full. Staff: They are all so friendly and helpful. Can't speak highly enough about them. Smiles all day every day. A few very helpful helping secure decorations for my birthday dinner and baked me a cake. So sweet of them and truly appreciated. Beach: Close second behind Cayo Coco. Clean well kept. Bar and bathroom close by. Entertainment staff fun and energetic. Pool: Large pool, lots of room to swim or float in. Different levels of water. Beauitful. Entertainment: Live music throughout the day and night around the pool and lobby bar. Two great sax players, good rock band, great water show. No shows at the Theatre. 5/7 nights we danced for several hours in the beach bar. Great music, great bartender and friendly DJ. He was open to requests and did a great job, The other two-nights DJ would not play anything you asked for, only played techno beat overlays. Was horrible... we are not all in our 20's liking that style. Sad too as it was my birthday and was looking forward to dancing all night. Walked out to the street watched a bunch of old cars drive by. Took one to town to go for dinner and dancing at the Beatles bar. Amazing rick band that night. Dinner was disappointing. Lack of options. Should have eaten on the resort. Already planning next the next trip back. Beautiful beaches, resort and people. Its CUBA... leave your stuffy attitudes and high expectations at home and enjoy it. Clean, friendly and sunshine. Can't ask for more!!

Blau Varadero: Really bad experience
If something happens to you on this resort - you are on your own. I got my kneecap displaced while swimming in the ocean. Paramedics on the beach are pathetic and didn't know what to do. Since they didn't have medical stretchers, they have used sunbed instead to get me to the hotel. No painkillers or medical equipment for the first aid on the resort. Ambulance had no gas to come to the resort and I was forced to go by the regular car with a lot of pain to the closest medical center where ambulance had a gas...Resort management were more worried about the extra towels that they have provided rather than me and my injury. They just wanted to move me out as quickly as possible to hide from other tourists. Unfortunately, didn't get manager name (Tall lady in the glasses). When I have arrived to Matanzas hospital it was just a nightmare experience as there is no painkillers or crutches either (i got a piece of lumber from before with nails in it instead, I am not joking). After all this nightmare I got back and on the following day management called me to see if I am ok and to follow up if I have returned the towel...is it a joke? I was "lucky" enough and got a proper crutch rented and on the final day security guard came to take it away from me as soon as he has seen the bus arriving, didn't even let me get in. And the last drop - Westjet representatives who should of done special reservation for me because of my injury for the airplane and who have confirmed that everything is fine and has been taken care of, didn't actually do anything and I got regular seats and has been suffering all the way back to Toronto. Go there on your own risk. I do not recommend Blau Varadero and do not recommend WestJet as your tour provider. Really bad experience. #BlauVaradero #WestJet #WestJet Vacations #StayAwayBlauVaradero

Blau Varadero: Worth a Visit
I hadn't planned on vacationing yet given what these Countries have suffered the last 3 years but I'm so glad I had a change of heart. We flew Sunwing the day after a big storm and through no fault of their own, were delayed 6 hours! Pearson wouldn't give them a runway to get to Waterloo Regional. Frustrating to say the least given this took away from our first day by arriving at Blau at midnight as opposed to 3:30 p.m. The flight was uneventful. The resort is stunning. They have vines hanging from the top of the building (14 floors) to the bottom ending in an indoor garden of sorts with plenty of greenery and small palms. The lobby bar is very unique as well. PROS: Spacious main floor with different sections for different preferences. You can sit in quiet and play a game or sit and listen to live piano or otherwise calming music or sit in a place with louder upbeat Caribbean music. They have a games space as well. Not huge but there's a ping pong table & pool table. Outdoors is beautifully maintained. Everything is close by or small 5 minute walk away. The beach is clear and breathtaking with loungers awaiting any guest at any given time of day. They have beds as well but some are in need of levelling. NOTE: take travel toilet paper... washrooms outside your room seldom have any. The a-la-cart is as good as any high end restaurant you'll dine in at home. I'm very cautious about eating meat when I travel but our dinner was fabulous and I finished my plate. The rooms are very spacious and cheerfully decorated. Very comfortable beds (soft mattress) with plenty of pillows. Ample storage space for clothes NOTE: Take a plug adapter.... you'll need it! The nightly shows were very entertaining. Our favorite was the water ballet one evening. CONS: Obviously the food. I generally live on pasta the whole week and Juan made my dinner to perfection every night. Only issue, it was only spaghetti noodles available. My husband enjoyed the selection at the buffet though. The snack bar leaves much to be desired. It's closest to the beach. Most the time, your option was a ham & cheese sandwich. Seldom they had pastries or fruit. Main restaurant wouldn't use the coffee machine at breakfast. We're coffee drinkers and having a good cup of coffee is appreciated but we had to walk to the snack bar and bring one back most mornings because the pool bar wasn't open yet. I will definitely pay this resort another visit. If you go to Cuba, you MUST remember, you're not at home. Things here aren't as easy to come by as you're used to. If you want all the comforts and conveniences of home, then you're best to stay there. These people work with what they have and work hard to make your experience a joyful one.

I love going to Cuba, I find the people really nice and well educated which makes it fun to interact. The staff did not disappoint on that aspect. I never expected much from the food but at the Blau, it was the worse I have ever eaten to the point that I would skip meals. Left overs were served repeatedly and the food had NO Flavour. The shows are not only sub standard but also badly promoted. We never knew what was going on. We were upgreaded to the ocean view room, we had a beautiful view of the pool, grounds and oceon. Resort has been well kept. Staff are very friendly. The food and drinks were fair. We always found something to eat and drink. There is no longer the Tourist peso, for tiping they now prefer canadian dollars, no coins!

Blau Varadero: Nice resort
Nice resort. Overall well maintained. Some improvement may be needed (water in the washrooms by the pool) . Staff were friendly. Providing wifi without the use of short term voucher (a hassle) can improve a more pleasant stay. Staff used masks and guests were obliged to use the mask in restaurants.

Blau Varadero: Nice Resort
I recently spent 10 days at this resort. The Blau is a beach front Varadero resort, pleasant grounds, spacious pool (but the jets were not working), the beach is long with white sand ( most days were windy and the flag was yellow). The room I stayed in was upgraded as part of the "Select Concept" with ocean view balcony, comfortable king size bed, hot water pressure fine, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and mini fridge. The food was mediocre, not so much a lack of supplies but a lack of culinary savvy, lack of interest or both. Ingredients rarely looked fresh and often the buffet looked much recycled from one day to the next. Dinner at the A la carte restaurant was a bit better, you could only eat there if you had purchased the " Select". Then again, it would be only 3 times per week, not every day. The wines were good. The drinks at the various bars were passable and the "Chill out Bar " was disappointing. Could not enjoy a decently prepared pina colada. The staff were courteous and most were attentive and good at their job. All in all, I found the Blau did not live up to my expectations, and I believe I will not return to this resort. I had purchased the "Select" but 50% of the advertised items were not offered. When I enquired as to why this was the case I could not get clear answers - a reflection on poor hotel management.

Blau Varadero: Great vacation!!!
Hola!!! My wife and I had a great time in Blau Varadero and would highly recommend to anyone. We are planning to go again next year. Staff are very friendly and polite, there’s always lounge chairs at the pool and beach no matter what time of the day. We enjoyed the pina caladas, mojitos and cappuccinos 😜

Blau Varadero: Return to my second home
It was my 13th times at the Blau Varadero and it was, like usual, excellent! The staff knows my name and they are like family. They know my preferences. I would like to try other resorts but why should I change a place I love? And I would be probably disappointed because at the Blau, I receive many things I wouldn’t have somewhere else.

Blau Varadero: One of the Best
Great resort, very well kept, and clean. We have been to Cuba about 8 times to 6 different resorts and this is better than most. Food is always an issue but it's passable. Beach is amazing and I highly recommend taking a taxi from the airport to avoid the bus transfer, much nicer. We paid $40 CDN. Don't change money at the Casa de Cambio, look for a lifeguard or someone with a fanny pack near the beach. We changed at 60-1 April, 2022.

Blau Varadero: Beautiful resort
As usual the Blau did not disappoint!!! I've been going to cuba for many years, the blau is top 3 resorts. If you love beaches, beautiful people and amazing bread, pizza, the best black beans and rice...then book the Blau. Also, covid 19 rules are followed. All workers inside and out wearing masks, and everyone has been at least triple Vax, it's the law in cuba, keeping their people safe.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort
Hotel is clean, the room had new mattresses . Food was OK as always. The staff is #1, even through these Covid times all stuff was helpful, and understanding. Hotel seemed only quarter full, mostly Cubans but Canadians were started to build in numbers. Didn't meet any Europeans yet. We had an other good vacation in Blau.

Blau Varadero: My second home!
It was my 11th time at the Blau and 7th for my boyfriend. It was amazing same it was my first time. The staff recognizes you and knows your name. It’s like my second family. This time we were at the reopening on Dec 3rd. The hotel was pretty empty but we had good time and met amazing people. The food was good. The staff takes seriously the COVID sanitary rules. Our luggages was disinfected when we arrived. Same thing with the tables, chair and lounge chairs. All the staff were the mask and face shield. We were feeling secured. They are doing the PCR tests at the hotel and get the result in 24 hours. The beach was cleaned and they enlarged it. I also want to thank Walter, the new manager of the hotel. He’s humble because he told me that it’s not him who makes the Blau appreciate by the client but it’s the amazing staff! Et Walter parle français! I am a big fan of the Blau and encourage people to book their next vacations at this fabulous resort.

Blau Varadero: A great resort
We just got back from vacation(March 1to 8,2020) and was at an adult only resort, our first one. Don’t get me wrong, I have 4 kids, 10 grand kids so I don’t mind kids but it was quite nice having no little buggers whining and yelling, just a lot of people at ease and really enjoying the atmosphere. Having said that, the resort was large, clean , had a very large pool. From the pool area, there was a short walkway, to walk through perhaps a three minute jaunt to get to the beach.Nice sandy beach, a bar and small restaurant for burger, fries and salad.Never had a problem finding an empty lounge chair or two, this being a first for me at any resort and I have travelled every year for at least ten years. The room was comfy and very clean, refrigerator was stocked daily, never had a problem with lack of hot water. The ac was ok ,not cool but not hot just comfy. Ok would have enjoyed a bit cooler but when it is 90 degrees and you come into room and it’s 72, cooler would be better. Just me....Let’s talk about food, the buffet was ok but not the greatest.Spaghetti was available daily, lotsa fish, chicken, salads.deserts, ice cream so everything was there. It was just how the food was prepared made it sometimes look unappealing.Coffee was not available in the buffet room at dinner???Speaking of coffee, if you don’t have a coffee machine in your room and you are an early riser, you had to get up,walk through the lobby, walk past the pool area, down the walkway to the beach and get your coffee at the beach cafe, a ten minute walk.Perhaps a coffee machine with coffee in the morning in the lobby would be a good idea??? Overall, the stay was quite good and I would consider doing it again.

Blau Varadero: Awesome staff- beautiful beach
Loved the layout of the resort- the different restaurants, entertainment and bars were appropriately scattered out making it feel less crowded and overwhelming. The food in general was good. We had one a la Carte at the Italian Restaurant and it was very good. Entertainment was also good. Staff at this resort were all amazing. Would definitely go back.

Blau Varadero: Would recommend!
I had originally stayed at the Blau Varadero 10 years ago. Since then we have visited Cuba twice and stayed at the Barcelona Solymar (pre renovation) and Memories. After our last 2 trips we swore we would not visit Cuba again due to the last two resort experiences. We visited last week on university spring break, 2 moms and daughters (they chose the destination). The Blau was great! The staff were outstanding, facilities exceeded expectations and service was exceptional. Food in Cuba is marginal at best and the Blau was no different. Housekeeping in rooms could improve, bathrooms were not cleaned thoroughly daily and floors lacked attention. Our only negative experience was the Jeep safari with EcoTours, we would NOT recommend anyone book a tour with this company! Book through your travel agent with another tour company if you want a positive experience and to be treated with respect and feel secure. Our experience with EcoTours was horrible and they ‘denied’ our 2 page written complaint saying it was our word (4 ladies) versus the travel guide.

Blau Varadero: Very good Resort
Room was very good(select Ocean view). Beach is fantastic, ...... enough lounge chairs everwhere, ..... beach, at pool, in shady areas. The cabanas at the beach are a nice treat(15pesos/day). Staff are generally very freindly and helpful. I suspect the staff that are not freindly don't speak english well. The odd thing is that the least freindly staff were at the front desk!! Room was always cleaned well by the maid, who did speak very good english. Other than the couple of grouchy front desk staff people the only negative is the food, ..... lots of it, looks good, but ..... much of it was not to our taste. There was always something on the buffet that we liked though. Best place we have been to yet in Cuba(3rd trip).

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort for adults
A nice relaxing resort with very little commotion, it was a relaxing time. There was always chairs available and everyday new activities. But generally people where not doing much, no big parties or frat bros making a mess of things. The resort was amazing, building was stunning. Location and beach where the best I've ever seen. The service was alright for the most part attentive, however every now and then they would ignore you completely. The staff barely knows English which is not a big deal however a good note to make it you have anything that requires deep understanding of the language it can be hard to convey properly and get the response you need.

Blau Varadero: An ok experience for first all inclusive
The hotel was clean. The room bright and had a great view of the sea. Staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The food not up to snuff. I was warned about food in Cuba and I'm typically not a picky eater but the food was blah. By the end of the trip I was craving everything North American. Mind you, I don't have any all inclusive comparison, so overall as a hotel it was a good experience.

Blau Varadero: Wonderful resort!
This hotel has a lot to offer; first and foremost, the beach is amazing--I ran along the beach and this hotel's share of the beach was the best. Second, there are a lot of bars that could serve you daily, and one 24 hour bar which is near the beach.

Blau Varadero: Everything perfect.
The Blau exceeded our expectations. Being accustomed to 5 star resorts my friend and I were not sure what to expect. The Blau truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped off the bus we were impressed. Gorgeous lobby. Attentive staff. Clean, well maintained. Higher end crowd. Our room (ocean view select) was perfect. Large, gorgeous view from the 10th floor. Oversized bathroom. The pool area was gorgeous and also well maintained. We went to every one of the 4 restaurants (3 full and 1 snack area on the beach) and 4 bars and were impressed with the quality and selections available. The beach was clean and gorgeous. Lots of lounge chairs and attentive staff. Fun games led by engaging entertainment staff. There was nothing about our stay that I would have changed. I will be back!!

Blau Varadero: Love this resort !!
Was recently at the Blau Varadero for a week. My first trip to Cuba. I loved everything about this resort. The resort is lovely with many comfortable sitting areas to relax and have a drink. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The beach is of course fantastic. One of the best parts of my trip were the people. The Cuban people are so kind, helpful, and do everything to make your trip a great experience. From the dining room staff, to the house keepers, the front desk, and our tour guide to Havana, everyone tried to make our trip as comfortable and memorable as possible. Loved old Havana! The beautiful historic buildings, cobblestone and narrow streets, and classic, colourful American cars, make it a trip not to miss. Would definitely go back to Cuba and to the Blau Varadaro.

Blau Varadero: Can’t wait to return!
The hotel, grounds, and pool were all very nice and in good shape and the beach was perfect. The shower had new fixtures with plenty of hot water and high water pressure. Every staff member we encountered were friendly and eager to please. The buffet was much better than we expected and two dinners at a la carte restaurants are included. We will definitely be back next winter!

Blau Varadero: Wonderful adult only resort!
BLAU Veradero is by far the best all inclusive resort I have visited. Room was spotless and comfortable. Well attended by cleaning staff. Resort was pristine and had many comfortable areas to enjoy. The resort isn't too spread out, everything being within 5 minutes walk. I appreciated that aspect. Pools is huge and chairs at pool and beach were always available. The staff is always smiling and the activities were yoir usual beach or poolside fun...I especially enjoyed Tony's yoga at the pool each morning. Most of all, the food was amazing. Daily seafood choices were superb (octopus, calamari, shrimp, mussels, swordfish, salmon, whitefish) and each evening, along with the ample regular choices , a special item was also being offered. Ie: sushi, turkey, roast..... I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable and worry free week away!

Blau Varadero: Good but not so good.
It is good because at our age we need elevators. Capacity of elevators is so limited that we had to wait fo more than 10 minutes many a times. Beaches are very good, very clean rooms, service is good, rooms are spacious. Food is not so good. Meat, BEEF is generally not tender, fish some times not a good or tasty. Salt bottles have wet salt and cannot sprinkle. Over all it is a good place to go to.

Blau Varadero: Good Choice
This was our first stay at the Blau Varadero. The room was spacious, with a view overlooking the pool area. We liked the location of the room - on the main floor, near the restaurant, piano bar and elevators. It was great for a person like myself with a mobility issue. The food selection was great, but not always to our liking. Nevertheless, we always found something to enjoy. The beach was close by, and there was never any shortage of chairs. The a la carte restaurants were good and the service at all restaurants/bars was excellent. We had a minor issue with room cleanliness at the beginning, but that was resolved quickly.

Blau Varadero: Excellent experience!!
What a great relief that Cuba can be so awesome. We travelled Dec 27-Jan 4 and it was fantastic. The food at the buffets was fresh and plentiful. Chef grilled meats and fish everyday at lunch and dinner buffets, great veggie dishes and sides and excellent juice bar and fruit stand. We never waited for chairs either at the pool or the beach and the staff at the bars were great and friendly. Great nightly shows and fun poolside activities. We would certainly recommend the Blau and thank everybody for the great New Year's Party.
