Had a wonderful week at Sol Cayo Coco. The people were amazing -- both staff and other guests. The beach was fabulous and the room basic but clean. The food was not the greatest. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, but options were very limited for lunch and dinner. There seemed to be a shortage of just about everything, even a couple of days when there were no potatoes. However, I think they did they could with what was available. What I liked best about the resort is that it is very compact. Everything is easy to find and within easy walking distance. Service was cheerful and friendly with one glaring exception -- the Air Canada rep, who was unbelievably rude.

One thousand dollars wasted on the premium package. Small selection and amount of food, poor selection of drinks. Cockroaches in bread basket and on the toaster in dining room. It goes on and on. Very friendly staff but they have nothing to work with. I blame the resort owners. Read the 1 star reviews, they are tell you the truth.

The best part of this resort is the beach and pool. This resort is on the LOW end of the scale. There is NO cola, pepsi, or coke, just sprite and orange. Mixed drinks are hard to come by on some days. Found a cockroach in the bread at breakfast service and also one in my room. I paid for the superior room with ocean view. Cayo Coco is in the middle of nowhere...you have to drive 1 hour to get to a town. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this resort. This resort needs a MAJOR renovation!

Even though was off season .. with low capacity .. we love it! It’s very cozy-small and works for us .. rooms are large and beds are very comfortable and new ..had an amazing room with breath taking view .. in resort everything is close by .. rooms,pool,teatar ,beach .. clean and well kept .. but mostly.. people (staff) and the beach are exceptional .. welcoming and friendly !! Will be back for sure

My Family and I had a great stay at Sol Cayo Coco. The staff were all fantastic; the beaches were awesome. We enjoyed snorkelling, and the kids spent a great deal of time in the pool. Our hotel room was clean from the start until the time we left. A lot to choose from at the buffet, and the hotel grounds well kept and maintained. I would recommend this Resort to anyone. My family and I felt safe

Sol Cayo Coco is an older family resort... Everything is close at hand, restaurants, lobby, pool area, beach.. etc. plenty of food, very well presented and very good. The staff is amazing and caring. My room was very clean, very comfortable bed and lovely chamber lady whom I met. Beach is great for long walks . The only negative is they play excercise music between the hours of 4 pm and 6pm which is much too loud, not a healthy volume.. I had requested to turn in down as it was impossible to rest / have a nap before diner . it was done only once. .

Staff without a doubt the best anywhere. They treat you like family. Have made lasting friendships with staff and wish I could see them more often. Will be returning next year if all goes well! Thank you all at the SOL.

February 2025 First time to Sol Cayo Coco, We have been to other resorts on Cayo Coco but feel the Sol is the best, The staff are amazing, friendly and go above and beyond to help, too many to name and I do not want to miss anyone. We loved that it is a small resort with paved ramps for those with mobility issues and everything is close in proximity. There is a large pool and a smaller quiet pool with lots of chairs and shade areas at both. At the beach we had a good choose of loungers and beds. There is also a path to a small beach past the rock cliff that is part of Sol. No shortages of food. We had lots to eat and a good variety. Buffet had grill station with beef, chicken, fish, mussels, sometimes pork chops and clams; also pasta station,on 2 different nights we had turkey also,salad fixings,cold cuts and hot trays of vegetables,beef stew ( delicious), etc. All the beef was tender( the first time we have experienced this in Cuba). For us lunch was at the pool snack bar which served pizza, hamburgers, fries and grilled ham and cheese. Ala carte's were Cuban and Mediterranean. Both were good. Our room was on ground floor with nice balcony. Was renovated, had walk in shower, comfortable bed ( new pillow top Mattress). Lots of hot water. the Cayos have their own power so no outages. Entertainment was good. Liked the outdoor covered stage area. Especially enjoyed the night the organ grinder provided the music in the lobby area and the young lady playing the saxophone . We didn't care for the nights that it was in the disco as the sound seemed distorted and loud. The guests from Canada and other countries were very friendly and always ready for a chat or to answer questions. Definitely will return to the Sol.

Our room wasn't quite done yet. Everyone was friendly and polite. We were disappointed that the toaster was broke and not fixed with in our 2 week holiday. The upgraded areas were fantastic. The disco, the outside concert was covered and amazing. However the timing of our flight was very difficult for many people and may prevent us coming back which would break our hearts. We were making plans for our family to join us next next January but in questionle. I will be contacting Air Transit asking for better times. We were up 30 hours and 20 hours coming back. Not reasonable. We love everything about this resort. Thank you for everything. Larry and Debbie

Very happy! Among several hotels considered for our first time to CC, I always came back to Sol. Great staff who are hospitable, work hard and go out of their way. Security staff found my lost sweatshirt. Grounds/building maintained well considering materials on hand and the beachfront is the best along that stretch of three hotels. Good food and service at the buffet. Beautiful clean room?

The resort is great. It’s not fancy, but very well maintained and clean.very quiet, not too busy. There was always plenty of places to sit and relax. The food was good, we could always find something we liked to eat. The most amazing part of our trip was the resort staff, from the front desk to the bar and restaurant staff to housekeepers to the groundskeepers and the amazing entertainment staff. The people who work there are always kind and caring and do their best to make your stay amazing. I can’t say enough good things about this resort and the people who work there. This was my second time at Sol Cayo Coco and I will definitely be back!

The lobby was impressive, large, airy, and comfortable, with an excellent bar. Bartenders were great, as were staff in general. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Entertainment impressed us. Though first time, I would go again.

We where at least 15 times in Cuba, from Havana down to the south. The Sol, Cayo Coco was one of the best experiences we had on the Island! This was our second time at this resort and not the last time. If you don't need to venture out in the evening or want "City nightlife" this is one secret paradise

Enjoyed our vacation immensely. Found our room spotless each and every day. Food was also terrific. Staff was always most helpful with a huge smile. But the best part was the beach and weather. Both were absolutely perfect. But I do have a few concerns which I’m hoping will find their way into the hands of the resort owners. PLease take a close look at your hard working upfront staff and I really do mean hard working. In many cases although their attire was always spotless it was quite worn and poorly fitting . Same with footwear. If you want your resort to stand out snd be celebrated take better care of your front line workers. Tourists notice snd question the ethics of their employers. Appreciate theses hard working people. Finally we loved your beach at Sol but you need well maintained garbage containers badly.

Had a 2 week stay at Sol and have to give nothing but praise. Rooms were spacious, comfy beds and very clean. Had bottle of water everyday in room and lots of towels, always stocked. Food was phenomenal, I never experienced any shortage of anything in the 2 weeks. Fresh eggs and bacon everyday, lots of fresh fruit and for dinner you always had choice of pork, beef, chicken or fish. Some nights even veal - pasta station was great as well! We skipped lunch and opted for snack bar pizzas and fries which were fantastic! No illness experienced whatsoever. Entertainment team was exceptional and always had lots going on if you were wanting activities, otherwise shows were fantastic with authentic Cuban bands. Music was not too loud and they cater to all ages. Special mention to all staff at Sol who are genuine, friendly and will go out of their way to make your vacation enjoyable and memorable! Will definitely return and I recommend to those looking for a solid, great place with a fantastic vibe and is budget friendly. Have been to Cuba over 30 times and this by far is the fav! Have stayed at newer resorts, but they don’t compare to the warmth, care and kindness experienced here.

A smaller and older hotel than others. It is definitely looking tired and worn, but the location is fabulous. Beautiful beach and a deserted hidden cove make this quiet hotel a relaxing find. Food was restricted in choice, but lots of fish, rice, vegetables. Limited salad items. The staff went out of their way to help and were all very friendly. Nice quiet background music during the day, attentive poolside bar staff, choice of four pools. Only 20 minutes from the airport.

We had a great time with our young family. The resort is dated, but other than that it is a wonderful place to stay. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay special. Food is good and the kids club was wonderful! Will definitely be returning.

The resort is still recovering from a hurricane 3 years ago and from Covid. Our room was dated but clean and although we hadn’t requested it we had a lovely ocean view and even were able to get wifi. The Buffett was fairly good though repetitive after 2 weeks! The staff in it were great and we certainly didn’t starve. There are obviously some shortages but that would be the same for any hotel. Only one a la carte which wasn’t worth the trouble! The beach is amazing and you can walk for miles. There were always lots of sun beds available . The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful and the bar staff were also great. Whether or not I would recommend it would depend on who was asking. Some of my friends would love it and others might not!

Resort was great for the money. The food was okay we were able to find what we needed. The beaches are amazing and great for kids. It wasn’t over crowded. We wanted sun sand and pool and where happy with all. For the price of this vacation it was good.

Love the location, the beach, the rooms, the staff. The food can always be more interesting but definitely OK. There was a real problem with hot water when we were there - never really hot, sometimes warm. Also, a problem with the room safes not working. Apparently only one fellow really knew how to fix them and he did. Very pleased with airline OWG although we were not familiar with it. Reccomend.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The beaches are amazing. The service is outstanding. The staff is genuinely welcoming and everyone goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service. The food needs improvement. It was extremely repetitive and blant. Great value for the money. Will definitely go back very soon.

Everyone was super friendly, helpful, clean and the drinks were amazing. Blanca at the main bar was amazing every morning, our housekeeper did a wonderful job and all the wait staff was incredible. I am excited to book my trip next year at the same resort. This was my third time going to Sol Cayo coco and like I said I’m looking forward to going again.

This was the first time we ever went to the Sol Cayo Coco. We have been many times to Cayo Coco but to Memories, Melio and Pestana to name a few. When we arrived the receptionist at the desk was very polite and we got our room in a timely fashion and someone was available to help with our luggage. The room was clean and appropriate to Cuba standard I would say 3 star. There is only one elecart at this resort but we were able to attend two times but the food offered was exactly the same. There was no dress code in place no table clothes flowers or candles to make the atmosphere different then the buffet and the food was ok. The service was ok. The pool was clean as well as the beach. The buffet lacked a variety of food. There was no bananas no potatoes and beer was in short supply. We were there on Feb 14th and the resort was opened to many Cubans coming for the day. We were in a group of 7 and we found that day particular over crowded and unfortunately the staff catered to their own people over the guests already at the resort. eg: there was a line up for the buffet on the 14th we were at the front of the line and the door man spoke in Cuban and took 3 guests (2 times) until I spoke up and said hey we are needing a table for 3 as well. I felt he was upset when I mentioned this however he then got us in. This really turned me against the Cubans as a whole. I used to take t-shirts, sandels and personal items to give away because I always thought the need was there. This will not happen again and I feel bad the way I feel but seeing is believing and what I saw did not impress me. I would definitely go back to cuba but would hesitate going back to the Sol We were anxious to leave to come home and trust me that is the first for me

We had a wonderful time at Sol Cayo Coco Resort. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The customer service people were around everyday to see if we needed anything. Also they wanted to know any suggestions that we would have to make our stay better and I felt like they genuinely wanted to listen to our suggestions and make any changes they could. The facility was very clean. Our room was nice and the house keeper always there asking if our room was good and if we needed anything. The layout of the resort was simple and easy to get around, didn't have to waste time trying to find things. The 2 beaches at this resort were AMAZING. Its a hidden gem to have to 2 different beaches at the same resort. Bonus is that this resort is only 15-20 minutes from airport.

We have stayed at Sol Cayo Coco 5 times past 2 years and never fails to please us. It is the wonderful friendly staff, beautiful grounds and not to mention 2 magnificent beaches that keep us coming back. Looking forward to spend more vacations here

We have visited this resort in 2012, 2015 & 2016 but think our January 2020 trip will be our last. We met many guests who were repeat customers. We went back because : the hotel is not huge (about 500 maximum occupancy), the staff are truly fantastic, it offers 2 beaches, there was a great beach restaurant and it was great value. This trip we still found the staff to be super friendly and helpful - some have been there for over 20 years and many remembered us from 2016. The beaches are great , one windy but one sheltered. However in 2017 hurricane Irma sadly destroyed the beach restaurant (plus about 400 palm trees). While the hotel has done a great job to restore the $50 million of damage but has not replaced the beach restaurant leaving it with only one a la carte. They have put in a lunchtime beach "tiki-hut" grill but all it served were hamburgers and fries and seemed to open randomly. The buffet as in most resorts offered a variety including two cooking stations (eggs/pancakes etc for breakfast and meat/fish/pasta/pizza at lunch and dinner). While there was always something we could find to eat it was pretty much the same every day with little creativity. With only one a-la-carte (which was very good) the buffet needs to be a lot better for 7 lunches and 6 dinners in a row! The bars offer a good variety of drinks and the service was always excellent. Tips are appreciated and gratefully accepted but not looked for. The entertainment staff work had to create fun and the evening shows featured great dancers. Communication about activities and shows was very poor. Just a notice board and single page sheet which seemed the same as 2016! On a few nights the schedule changed without notice so we ended up eating dinner and missing the singer. The rooms are badly in need of upgrades. They (and the hotel overall) are very clean but our shower stall leaked water over the bathroom. lights didn't work and drawers were falling apart. Despite the shortfalls we still enjoyed our week especially at the price. The hotel was surveying guests so hopefully they will make some changes. I doubt we will return but as long as you go for the beach, the drinks, the fun and ok food it is worth considering.

Very nice beach, both water-wise and sand-wise. Trip to Pilar Beach was also fun. Food was so-so but so is all of Cuba I hear. Very nice staff. I'd go back, given the low price and good value-for-money.

Lovely staff, rooms are average and have a fridge which is nice but bed is a little uncomfortable. Food is severely lacking and repetitive and disappointing BUT not gross and I never got sick. Pool is good and beach is nice. Day trips are meh. For value, it’s a good resort.

Wonderful Beach, Pool very good for different ages Site of hotel wonderful, Good attitudes from all categories of personnel, Rooms clean -comfortable, Dining Room well-decorated pleasant furnishing Quality of food ok but chefs lack cooking skills & require improvement. Air transat flight was supposed to leave at 3:50 pm and arrive Montreal 7:30 pm. No advice from anyone as to cause of delay no agent at hotel from Hola. Our flight left at 11 pm with arrival at 3 am .Customs &Baggage took almost one hour to receive ! Quite a day We received boarding passes by e mail but no information from anyone except a notice posted by hotel ! incredible treatment probably because passengers had no alternatives & had already paid. Not acceptable treatment !

My 11th time in Cuba and my first and last time at Sol Cayo Coco. By the 3rd day we transferred to Melia Jardines Del Ray and couldn't be happier. Sol Cayo Coco could be a true 3+ or 4* with some much needed upgrades throughout all areas. There seemed to be such a lack of care with the appearance and services at this resort. The lobby bland in color and lacking comfortable seating, no background music, no beautiful plants, no tropical vibe. Staff was kind and friendly and the beach one of the most beautiful I have ever seen!! That's about it, unfortunately the friendliness of the staff and beautiful beach will not have me returning. Our check in was fast and friendly, but we had to carry our own luggage up two flights of stairs, no one offered to help. The room: clean but outdated with broken tiles in the bathroom, no hot water for 2 days and day 3 no water at all. Our bathroom towels were not changed, they were picked up off the floor damp with make up and sunblock residue, folded and placed back in the bathroom dirty. Beach towels were non existent for the time we were there. Everyday we were given the excuse that they didn't have any because they don't have onsite facilities to wash them. The food is not what I travel to Cuba for, having been to Cuba 11 times now I know what to expect BUT the food at this resort was unacceptable by any standards. Buffet so small there was not enough food for the quests, and it was no where near capacity. The choices as slim as you can imagine and the quality was very poor. There was no variety of greens or fruits and of the salad that was available we found a slug in it and it was apparent that it had not been washed. The snack bar by the pool had a large menu posted on the wall but of all the items listed the only items available was chicken sandwich and fries and if lucky maybe pizza. The chicken portion was so small that it was almost like just eating a bun with a few shreds of cheese in it. On our second day we asked for coffee and mugs for our room so that we could make our own coffee in the morning. We were told that it was not part of our package because we booked a standard room and if we wanted coffee we could go to the lobby store and buy it (EXCUSE ME? WHAT?!) I am at an all inclusive resort....first time I have ever heard of such a ridiculous policy. I love Cuba and the people but the management at this resort needs to step up and take care of the issues that are below standards for any traveler. I do not like writing negative reviews but I cannot recommend this resort.

Sol Cayo Coco is a beautiful great place to enjoy the 2 beaches,wonderful people and very friendly staffs, the room nice and clean,view I the ocean,nice entertainment, it was a great,but too short week,would be nice for 10 days to stay

Great resort from checking in very efficient great room great staff above average food nice to see new manager around resort speaking to guests and staff quick response when I had a problem in my room which wasn't really a problem I just didn't know what I was doing but they showed me great night entertainment would definitely recommend I will be back keep up the good work

Everything was great. The quality of rooms the staff and the facilities. Beautiful beaches. The quality of hotel for 3 star rating was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff was especially friendly.

This was my fifth visit to Sol Cayo Coco, and this time I took my son and his family with me. They now understand why I love this resort. The resort is small, the staff are very caring, and the 2 beaches are breathtaking. Cuba is experiencing shortages on certain food items, but the new general manager has found ways to make the buffet look beautiful. I can’t wait to go back!

Nice place to rest Beautiful beach, good services. Definitely go again. Recommend to family's with children. Food have good quality but not a lot variety. Fruit was very good. Do not forget to bring after bite cream.

Clean and well maintained resort with friendly staffs. Had a great time staying at Sol Cayo Coco. Foods and drinks are above average, no complaints at all. Entertainments are enough to keep you occupied. I would recommend this resort to all my friends.

Grounds are kept very well. Rooms needs renovations.Service in the lobby area needs improving. Not enough wait staff. In terms of food not a lot of variety. Entertainment was good. The amazing beach makes up for the resort!!!

Just a nice size resort, not too big. Beach is beautiful and no problem finding a shelter or lounger at the beach. Resort was clean and no issues with the room. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. The food at 1st was just so so but they were in the middle of a make over so be the 4th day on it was great. They have done an amazing job considering there was a major hurricane in 2017

Second time there and will definitely come back. Grounds well kept, beautiful beaches, food very good for 3,5* resort. Very friendly stuff and almost no mosquitos:). Resort is small so you'll feel familiar with everything around in a moment.

Stayed March 5th. to 12th. 2019 This resort should definitely be upgraded to a four star. The place was spotlessly clean, the grounds were immaculate, Food was good and varied, but the staff takes the cake. They were attentive, polite and eager to please, and seemed even reluctant to take tips. Particular kudos to Kenia, Yandry, Yasmany, Riley and Michael the singing egg man in the Buffet.

A nice resort with large clean rooms. An easy walk to the beach, pools, and buffet. The food was typical. Because the resort is small there were never line ups at the buffet and you didn't have to wait to find chairs at the beach. The only complaint I have is that there is a mini fridge in each room, but they did not supply beer or soft drinks once. When we asked about it we were told we would have to pay extra. That's a first for me. The room itself was more than adequate with hot showers, large balcony looking over the ocean and good maid service. We found the bar service inconsistent. Sometimes we had to wait quite a while to get served.

It might be an older resort however the people who work there more than make up for it. Never had such friendly and helpful service. Special thanks to Elvis in the buffet. The beaches were fabulous and always a chair available. Food was good for Cuba and our room was always well supplied and clean. We definitely would go back.

We loved the resort! We really enjoy the smaller resorts and Sol Cayo Coco was just great! Loved the staff the Cuban's are beautiful and are so willing to make your stay perfect. We spent alot of time on the beach as we lucked out with amazing weather. Love the Los Pacos Bar on the beach. The bar tenders are super fun! The food was great as there was good selection for choice for your own personal tastes at the grills. We ended up with a ocean view room which we accepted with delight. I guess the only negative I can think of is that the bathrooms closer to the beach often ran out of toilet paper :(

Small older resort, conveniently located near the airport. Beautiful location and beach. Never a problem getting a beach chair. Rooms were always clean and staff was courteous. Unfortunately food variety was poor. There was an inconsistant availability of buffett, al-la-carte and pool bar foods even for Cuban standards. No beer for 2 days and charged for bottled premium beer during this time. Nice small resort community feel, great for evening socializing.

Great small resort. Staff are amazing, food was repetitive, but good. rooms were layed out good. Balcony. beach was nice. With lots of huts on beach. The entertainment/ shows could have been a little better. I would go back there

The rooms and hotel are spotless. The staff so friendly and accommodating. They can't do enough for you. Always something to do from learning the mambo, exercising in the pool or ocean, playing games, boat tour. We will definitely go back.

This was our second time to the Sol! We love the resort. It is older and exceptionally clean and the food is good as well. The staff are like our family! We have personal relationships with many of them. Love love love the Sol❤️❤️❤️❤️

There were no insects except mosquitoes for 30 minutes at dinner time which were easily avoidable! The food was the best it's ever been and the beaches immaculate. The staff were amazing and I will be returning!

This was my first stay at this hotel and Cayo Coco. I was traveling alone and last minute so i thought i would try this resort. I checked a few mixed reviews and booked it. The pros: the beach and the entire grounds are very clean. I had dinner in both restaurants and the meals were great. The cuban rum bar had authentic cuban cocktails and had a great view of the lobby and shows. The coffee was awesome and the area was kept cool with fans and they always had staff waiting to serve you. Most times when ordered coffee or drinks from the coffee or pool bar they would say " Sit down i will bring it to you" The cons: Of course there could be more variety at the buffet but you know how it is. They didnt always have lots of choices but i survived to write this brief review. I like wi fi in my room and it wa only available for a c.u.p per hour. Beach bar drinks need some work. Limited drinks and stale pop. They need mojitos and a blender.

Beach is beautiful ,white send and clear water. Lots of shades on beach. Was not problem to find spot under shade and all the time staff helped to set up chairs under it. Food was not very great. All food tested same. We went to the " Italian restaurant " It was joke . it was beside pool where drinks are served . This "restaurant" was segregated with chairs At least they could use little imagination as Italian tablecloth, Italian music, e.t.c.

This was our 3rd time there this year, Feb, Apr and June. It is a amazing place. The staff treated us like we were so special. When we walked up to the reception desk they said WELCOME HOME which made us feel so good. The staff there are very special from the lobby bar to the actvity guys and girls to the pool bar staff the staff in the buffet from breakfast, lunch and dinner amazing people. By the time we left 3/4 of the staff were calling us mama and papa. As for the food was very good, the rooms were clean not to mention the beautiful sea. My husband and I call this our second home. I would recommend this resort. Cannot wait to go back next year. If you want a great vacation go to Sol Cayo Coco.

We spent a beautiful relaxing week at Sol and enjoyed every minute of our stay here.Resort was very nice and clean with beautiful pools and two gorgeous beaches. No complains on menu at La Arcadia buffet restaurant,where we always find plenty of tasty meats, fish and salads there.We enjoyed bar at the lobby with entertainment there, especially singers who get us to dance.We had a wonderful holiday at Sol Cayo Coco, thanks to all of your wonderful staff and hope to see you next year again.

The food at the Sol Cayo Coco is good, the resort amenities good, but it's the hard working people at the resort that made our stay amazing. Thank you to the staff at Sol Cayo Coco for making our stay exceptional!

Couple in our 60's wanting a relaxing beach holiday. Got it! Resort is small and easy to navigate, everything central, well laid out. Check in was quick. ROOM: Gardenview, clean, everything worked, bed was comfortable, fabulous view of the ocean from our room because there were no longer any trees to block the view due to hurricane. Take a facecloth, hair conditioner and body lotion if needed. They provided shower gel, shampoo and bar soap. Paid 2 CUC per night for the safe. Key card was inserted to turn on lights and air when you were in the room, also for the safe. FOOD: Both a la cartes were very good (Italian and International). Buffet had enough choices and cook station options. There were snack bars at the pool and beach. Good food there too. You will not go hungry.Midnight snacks are at the lobby bar. ENTERTAINMENT: Every night mostly in the lobby until the theater is rebuilt. Dancers have all been classically trained, singers excellent. BEACH: Two of them! Lots of chairs on the bigger beach and we always found somewhere to sit no matter when we went down. The smaller beach to the left had chairs taken early. Excellent beach for entry to the water and for endless walking. When it is really windy it can get rough. We had 4 or 7 days red flagged! SIGHTSEEING: For 5 CUC per person we took the hop on hop off double decker bus that stopped at every resort as well as the craft market and ended at Playa Pilar, which the Air Canada rep said was the most beautiful beach. NOT! But it is worth going and seeing everything. We also got off at Sol Cayo Guillermo, walked around the beach and resort. On the bus we found out we could have gotten a lunch ticket to eat at Guillermo and could have stayed at that beach for the day which was also beautiful. STAFF: Wonderful, always smiling and extra helpful if we ran into a problem. Would I come back? Yes!

The grounds were well kept and gardeners working on them constantly. Rooms were well cleaned and comfortable, but room furnishings could be upgraded, mattresses comfortable. Food was good, lots of choices. Lack of greens after a few days. Coffee excellent and service very good with friendly staff.. Beaches are beautiful and pristine. We will be returning for our 4th visit and would recommend to friends.

Clean grounds, nice pool, great beaches, clean rooms, great service, great people. Food is very adequate. Close to airport, only 10 min. Could use dressers in rooms. Tables & chairs in Lobby for smoking area.

I went there a few times with family and friends, and I was happy to go back! The staff members are amazing and they remember us, that is pretty cool! :) Beach is amazing, staff is great, food is alright, cleanliness is amazing, music and night life is great, will definitively go back next year with a group of friends.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, good food, foam party, ok entertainment, beautiful beach. Excellent resort and vacation for the price. If you want high end drinks and food you may want to look elsewhere, but if you are not fussy with local drinks, grilled food, wood oven pizza and pasta station then this is the perfect place.

The hotel was very clean. Beach was nice and spacious -never had any problems looking for a beach chair or hut. The best part of the trip had to be the amazing service we received from the staff. Special shout outs to Riley, the stir fry chef in the evening and the front desk ladies. The cleaning ladies did an amazing job Day in and out while also maintaining a sense of fun with the cute shapes they would make with our blankets and towels. Overall a good first experience for my boyfriend and I in Cuba. The people are definitely what my heart felt closest to.

Great staff, good weather, amazing beach. Food and drinks, activities and facilities all very good at this resort. Rooms were clean and no trouble with anything. Traveled with my adult daughter & we both had a wonderful time and enjoyed every moment of this happy holiday.

Sol Cayo Coco was fantastic! We visited February 3-10,2018. Upon arrival at the resort Yipisis at the front desk was extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. Our room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and clean towels. We had a problem with the safe but they came right away and fixed It for us. The buffet never disappointed. The food was delicious, plentiful and a great selection....definitely try the pizza!! What can I say about the beach except perfect! Nice breeze, white sand, paradise! The staff and service at this resort was unbelievable. Big thank you to Carlos in the lobby bar, you were amazing! Thank you!! Overall the only negative thing I can say about this resort is that the nightly entertainment could be better, not a deal breaker to me. I can’t wait to return next year. Thank you Sol Cayo Coco for a wonderful week!

Let me say that my wife and I had a nice time. However it should be recognized that you're staying at resort in a communist country, with 3rd world economic living and social conditions. So that tempers what my observations listed. We were no longer in a Canada and kept that at the forefront of our minds while there and did not complain. We had a very nice time and would go again. We stayed in room 2218 for 7 nights. from Feb 3rd to Feb 10th 2018. My observations and comments. The door to our room was difficult to open, We had to kick the bottom of the door to open it and slam it to close it. This was a common problem with most of the doors of the 4 other couples rooms that went along with us on this trip. The problem could easily be fixed if the wood jam was planed at the door handle section. (I used to hang commercial and residential doors.) The bottoms of all the hotel room doors don't have any threshold stripping so anything that is 2cm or less in height can/could crawl under the bottom of doors. We saw 2 cockroaches in our room, one was 2cm long and the other one was over 6cm long! The balcony door was open 1/2 Meter when we arrived, so anything that flew or crawled, moved or climbed could easily come in or out of our room, such as: bugs, birds, salamanders, rodents etc. We saw several salamanders high on the hotel walls in the common areas. They are cute, but I wouldn't want them in my hotel room. The patio door does not have a screen, which is not too unusual. However the balcony sliding door lock was broken. fortunately we were above ground level so no one could just walk into our hotel room, unless they were able to scale the walls. The ceiling in our hotel room had a 1 meter (3ft) circle where either the paint was removed or it was a giant mold spot. The electronic door lock to our hotel room was falling apart on the inside of the door. I had to snap the metal door handle bezel in place at least 3 different times within our 7 day stay as it kept coming loose. There is a 220 volt switch on the wall (which was not labeled and I found by accident) to turn on the HVAC (air conditioning) on and off, our room did not have a thermostat that was adjustable so when you turned the air conditioning on, it stayed on until you turned it off. We would wake up in the morning cold due to no thermostatic adjustable control. We would have left the balcony door open if there was a screen. The rooms require that you install the passkey in an electronic slot to turn on all of the electricity in the room. I found by experimenting that any card could be inserted into the slot to keep the electricity turned on. We ended up putting in a business card in the slot for keep electricity on in the hotel room. All of the power in the hotel rooms are 220 volts and uses 5mm circular pins. see: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g147270-c104286/Cuba:Caribbean:Electricity.html US or Canadian 120 volt polarized AC plugs will not fit in the universal outlets in the hotel room. I bought a two AC conversion adaptors at the dollar store in Canada before I left and had to use them. I brought along a power bar so I could plug in multiple devices that would run at 220 volts on my Canadian 120 volt power bar. I made sure that everything I plugged in would support 220 volts. There is an outlet labeled for a shaver that it switchable between 220 volt and 110 volts at the bathroom sink. However it has a maximum current rating of 1 amp at 120 volts. Plugging in any device that would draw more than 1 amp would blow the outlet. My wife brought a curling iron but couldn't use it as it was only rated for 120 volts at 8 amps. The resort: There was a very nice swimming pool, and there were scheduled 30 minute activities from 9:30 am to 17:30 pm everyday. Some of the activities: ( * = we enjoyed and participated) Open gym Tennis lesson * Stretching exercises * Darts competition * Zumba class Trio Con carabina Beach Volley ball *Water aerobics *Water volleyball Anillas - not sure what that was. * Salsa lessons Mini Golf - several events for children each day. Beer drinking competition. Shortest time for drinking 3 glasses of beer. - Not exactly a family event in my opinion that could be dropped, but some people liked it. Winner got a bottle of Cuban Rum. * Blackout Bingo Meals at the Buffet Restraunt "La Arcada": Breakfast 7:30am to 10:00 am Lunch: 12:30pm to 2:30pm Dinner 6:30pm to 9:30pm The food was very good and no one in our party of 12 had any complaints about the food. There was an outdoor bar and snack bar by the pool dispensing drinks and food such as frenchfries, pizza, burgers, fish etc. There were two restaurants that you could book a dinner for 6:30 or 9:00 pm. We tried both and were very happy with the food and service. Entertainment: There was a mini disco that had different entertainment every night. The first night we were there they had a rock band and they were very good. Every night there after was a show case of dancing, sort of like you would see on :So you think you can dance: TV show. It was very enjoyable. In the main lobby there were also different entertainment acts every night, that you could enjoy the music and dance with your partner or friends. Beach: There were two separate large beach areas. The one was very shallow for a long distance in the ocean. The other beach got deep very quickly. We had a great time, the staff were very friendly. The resort is all inclusive, so if you have a weakness for excessive eating or drinking you're probably going to over do it. We tried to watch what we ate so it was similar to our regular diet at home. Neither my wife or myself are drinkers so the alcohol was not a temptation. I brought along a big "1 litre insulated Bubba mug" and had the bar fill it with ice and bottled water several times per day so I remained properly hydrated. Dan

Even though the resort suffered major damage in the hurricane, they have done much to restore it, however, there is still a lot of work to be completed. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, rooms were kept very clean and the grounds and beaches were kept clean. It was nice that staff remembered our names, given the number of guests. The food was passable, as most Cuban food, however, the Don Diego a-la-carte was really good. The lobster dinner (which we had to pay 20 CUC for) at Don Diego was not very good and was not worth the cost. I would be interested in going to this resort again, once all repairs have been completed, as I believe it will be very beautiful.

We went with a group of about 20 and all had a great time, friendly people and no shortage of rum. Food was ok but, you definitely don’t go to Cuba for the food. Could always find something to eat and food was repetitive. If you don’t have gourmet expectations you are better off. Overall being we have been here twice it’s a pretty decent resort.

the hotel was very nice. food was good. ran out of toilet paper and soap in ladies washrooms a couple of time. staff was very friendly. will be sure to go back. great vacation all around. disco was quite loud. shows were pretty good. drinks were very good. rooms were very clean. looking forward to returning to this resort. this is one of the nicest resorts i have been to in cuba. viva la cuba

Overall the resort was average, it was raining upon checkout, and was raining in our closet. The pool was very good, food at the buffet was terrible until we discovered the omlette, pizza ang pasta bars. There is still alot of hurricane damage around.

This is an older smaller resort but it's amazing. Grounds are immaculate as is the common areas. Hard to believe Irma hit hard other than the newly planted trees. Brand new beach bar and snack bar, lots of beach chairs. Food is amazing, lot's of variety, fresh grilling stations, pizza oven and buffet. The best part is the staff, many have been there since the opening, always remember returning guests. Will be returning soon.

This was our third time to Sol Cayo Coco. The atmosphere at the resort is what we like best! The beaches are amazing... food is good.... staff are great! We will be back and always recommend Sol to our friends!

We had a great holiday. The resort is exceptionally clean. The staff treat you like family. The food is not bad either. We’ll be going back for sure. We recommend this resort. We had a bit of a flood the first morning due to the heavy rain and Yasletti was there immediately to clean it up. Grounds staff are working hard to bring back the beautiful landscape. Both beaches are great. Always enough chairs at the beach and usually at the pool. Rarely was there more than a couple min wait for buffet.

Beach and food are the most important factors for us. This Place was a winner for both. For someone who gets traveller's diarrhea walking to the mailbox, I was pleasantly surprised to feel fantastic after every meal which consisted of many different items as everything was so delicious. The buffet was incredible every time, the snack bars are awesome, and the resto is amazing. Bars are great. There is one calm beach with crystal clear waters and one wavier beach on either side of a small peninsula. Both are fantastic. In addition, our room in the 1200s was great by any standards, the rest of the buildings were great and the pools are nice. Good activities and shows, too, and they start on time which is a big plus. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was the tipping. We are happy to reward the great service that we received from the vast majority of the staff but it seemed like more and more was expected in terms of tips and items. I would imagine this is a product of changes in Cuba and not particular to this resort, but I hadn't felt as much discomfort with respect to this at other resorts in years past.

The resort was fairly small but staff was quite courteous and usually willing to go the extra mile to serve you, especially if you tipped well. Entertainment wasn't too bad. The beach wasn't what we had expected. The sand was light brown and filled with a lot of seaweed. When we were in Veradero last year, the beach was full of bright white sand and long stretches of clear water. Not the case here. WiFi cards were constantly problematic and that's the one thing the resort would not take responsibility or accountability for. It was overall an ok resort though.

The grounds were lush, food was great! Playa Larga beach is calm and beautiful. The employees are wonderful and we met so many amazing people from around the globe.room 2331 had a beautiful view. will surely return :-)

This was my second time at Sol Cayo coco. Staff is just amazing and so are the beaches. Nice small resort and felt very safe. I would definitely recommend this resort for families. I will be booking a trip to return as soon as possible.

My 81 yr. old Mom, 21 yr. old son and myself shared a room. It was spacious and adequate. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Our maid service was wonderful. We never wanted for anything and she left us a lovely thank you note when we left. We had fresh water every day and fresh towels when we indicated a need. Our building was well kept and clean at all times. The pool areas/bar areas in general, were very clean. The pool always looked fresh and inviting. The workout room could have used some upgrading but even so, I could get some weights in and that was adequate. The grounds around this area often had litter scattered about...seems like mostly hotel guests leaving cups/cans behind. Sad really. The beaches were beyond beautiful. We were helped to get sun chairs every day and always found a shady spot easily. I haad heard there could be a problem with sand flies or mosquitos but we never saw one. There are two distinct beaches separated by a mound of lava rock and both were wonderful and long, and easy to run or walk on. The food was well prepared, tasty and varied. We rarely had to wait long for anything. The drinks and bar services were excellent. The entertainment was really enjoyable and the dancing group we saw twice, just blew us away. All of the people working at the resort were courteous and friendly. The front desk was always helpful, quick and friendly. Our stay was a 10/10!

No difference between sol cayo coco and 4.5 star Cuba hotels I've stayed at. I'm changing my food rating I'm just picky and not much of a meat eater. After all cubas allure isn't the food! The beach was amazing, 1 side of rock deeper and wavy, other side calm soft sand and shallow for quite a ways. The grounds were beautiful clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and excellent with my little guy. I'm not one to go to the same area twice but I would consider it for this resort! A bonus was the ability to go to the tryp and sol cayo Guillermo and swim eat and enjoy their beaches for free!! We had the rocareana right next door great for climbing fun!! Best evening entertainment I've seen in Cuba!! Well done❤️

The hotel is old but very clean, the staff was very good to resolve any issues. The first night our bed was very uncomfortable so they exchanged our mattress and the shower was very slow so they changed the shower head and all was good. The food at the hotel is very typical for Cuba but there was always something to eat, an egg is an egg wherever. They have a beautiful beach actually 2beaches, no problem for chairs at either. The pool has lots of chairs but if you want a hut earlier is best. The weather was lovely. Not the Ritz but priced accordingly.

Cuba was fun!!!!!, very nice resort. It is not to big. The two beaches are some of the best beaches for a caribbean vacation. Great staff, great service. Great value at a great price. Was a breeze going through TripCentral...we will return.

Spent a week at SOL CAYO COCO with the family....great swimming... beaches. Just a great time relaxing. Not a loud place but was fun for the teen age kids. Resort is exactly like the pics. Staff is extremely polite and assisted with all requests.

Everything was good, it is a very small hotel...so everything is close. Beaches are great, pool was nice. The whole hotel was very clean, rooms clean, and must say the lobby bathrooms were extremely clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful...always tried to speak English. The evening shows were very good......although I do feel that more activities around pool are needed and the hotel should be prepared with activities in case of rain. We did have one rain day which lasted all day and night...there was nothing to do but sit in lobby....hotel should of had live entertainment or games. Food was good although it was the same the whole week we were there....need to be more creative with the left overs???? But didn't go hungry.... The snack bar was good and the staff who ran it were great too. Thank you for the enjoyable trip.

Just came back from sol cayo coco.This is a small resort, no need to walk long distances great for elderly people.Room amazing with ocean view, very clean. Excellent food, loved the grill ,all kinds of fish ,chicken, beef and pork. Amazing staff, very helpful and cheerfull. Beautiful beach,lots of entertainment.This is a nice resort for small children they have lots to do for the kids.Entertainment in the lobby was great with good singers. Did not go to the nightly show at the theater what was located near the beach,would go back anytime!Great resort.

hotel was ok needs more entertainment for evenings food was good but could have more variety (everyday was same thing) lobby personel need to be more knowledgeable about emergencies. air canada rep needs to be more easily available (stay at hotel longer than 45min per day)

The hotel was nice , bathroom door was broken, found crabs and lizards in the toilet , food wasn't amazing but the staff were so friendly it was a really good time. Beach was absolutely beautiful!! Lots of events and we loved the nightly entertainment! ! Rooms were always so clean

This is the second time we've been to Sol Cayo Coco. It won't be the last. Not only does it have the best beach in the area (Pilar isn't any nicer) but the staff at the resort were amazing. Never had to wait any time for a drink and if they were even remotely busy they told you to go ahead and have a seat and they brought your drinks. And they NEVER waited for a tip. Although I tipped every single time. There were others that I noticed that never seemed to tip but they got the same type of service and smile and hug that we did. But the beach. Oh my God. It is truly fantastic. There are actually two beaches split by an outcropping of rock. While the one on the right is awesome we chose to spend most of our time on the left hand side. The water is calmer and the sand just that little bit more powdery. Fantastic. The rooms, while a little older, were clean, bright and well taken care of. The food, which is always the true test, was actually good. We even gained a little weight. The calamari at the beach grill was frickin' incredible and we paid the extra to have the logostina which would have been worth it at twice the price. There is a guy that makes fried rice. Yup, fried rice. It was so good I kept going back to him to the point that every time he saw me he fist bumped and stopped asking what I wanted. He'd just make it. He actually got a little emotional when I said we were leaving. I would recommend Sol Cayo Coco to anyone who wants a mid-size resort with good food, a great beach and incredible people.

My wife and I enjoyed this resort. The beach is beautiful. The food is above average for Cuba. Rooms were good, always cleaned. But it's the people that work there that make this place great. All in all a great value for what we paid.

We just returned from 1 week in Sol Cayo Coco and had a fantastic time. The staff at the resort was really polite, nice and very helpful. Always friendly and actually had bar service delivered by the pool and to our tables in most bar areas. The food was very good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the washrooms ran out of toilet paper quickly and it was not always replenished ...sometimes till the next day. The beaches were beautiful. Definitely a contender to go back.,

I just returned from Sol Cayo Coco on Thursday January 19, 2017. I was at the resort for a one-week stay. This was my third time to this resort and I will certainly go back! Food: People often complain about the food in Cuba - too bland, not enough American, always the same - I do not agree. The food at Sol Cayo Coco is excellent. There is always a good selection and the buffet is refreshed constantly. I only ate at the buffet restaurant and did not eat at either of the a la carte restaurants, so I cannot comment on the food there - however, people I met on the trip thought the a la carte restaurants were very good. I sat on the patio at the buffet for nearly every meal as I prefer to be outside rather than inside with the air conditioning. Room: I stayed in a third floor room overlooking the pool with a beautiful view of the ocean. I payed for a standard room and did not upgrade, so I was very pleased with the view. The room, although the decor is a bit tired, was clean and tidy. My towels were refreshed daily and I never once had to request amenities like toilet paper, soap, etc... Resort: I like Sol Cayo Coco for several reasons: 1) it is only a 30 minute drive to the airport, 2) the resort is small and not overwhelming to get around, 3) you can change money at the front desk, and 4) the staff are exceptional. Two staff members who deserve to be mentioned: Yanitza (wait staff on the patio of the buffet restaurant) is friendly, outgoing and extremely generous - she loves to sing and you will hear her going about her duties singing and dancing - entertaining and altogether lovely. Andy (waiter in the lobby bar lounge) is very kind and quick to grab you a drink when you need one. He made a point to introduce me to other staff members, making my trip more comfortable and enjoyable - I truly felt at home! Entertainment: The entertainment staff are very hard working. I attended several shows, some were mediocre, some were amazing. The stand-out for me was an evening they called "White Night". In addition to the expected dancing there were: amazing vocalists, a talented aerial performer on silks, and a fire artist. The best night I spent in Cuba!

Great beach, dining and staff. Best place in Cuba! Warm weather for December. Little drizzle. Clean hotel rooms. Fun excursions. Crocodile excursion was fun. Went to another beach that was just as nice as ours too.

Just returned from a week at Sol Cayo Coco. Like almost all hotels in Cuba it's a little dated but the new GM, Guillermo, is constantly making improvements. They have the best beaches along this area. The main beach out front is huge but can be very rough water. There is a calmer beach on the other side of the resort in the cove. Great spot for young children. The food was just fine, especially breakfast at the buffet and lunch at the pool bar. Can't comment on the a la carte as we don't go to them. The buffet at dinner always had something good to eat. The staff can't do enough for for you from the gardening staff right to the front desk staff. Can hardly wait to return in March. Thank Sol!

great staff pool was great only went to buffet but they had omelette station fresh bread and buns even stewed rabbit a couple of nights. fresh fish cooked to order as well as pork and beef chops. been to cuba many times first time here and food was the best iv'e encountered so far. definitely a plus being only 15 min away from airport. beach was just what anyone would want.

We had a relaxing , enjoyable stay at Sol Cayo Coco. The gardens are beautiful , very well kept. As for the rooms, very clean. Our room was ocean view, and quiet area. The rooms are getting old (we know that about 50 rooms are getting updated for the high season); we had some issues with our first room with the lock( fixed right away) and then the air conditioning. But , they quickly accommodated us with another room which was in order. That's how you see the costumer service really working when you encounter issues; they were more than helpful and with a friendly attitude. We cannot say enough about the staff...so friendly and nice...we are sorry to forget the names of most of them as everyone we met exceeded our expectation. But one was really working hard and so sweet , his name is Roberto at the buffet. He learned what we liked very quickly; for breakfast , as soon as he would see us, he would go get cappuccinos; at lunch , two beers were waiting for us...that's service... and the guy (sounds like Lewis...) who made the pankake was a sweetheart. The beaches are beautiful . Since it was low season, there was always palapas available. As for the largo beach, it was harder to find a place as it seems to be more of a public beach The food is very good; you can easily find something you will like at the buffet. There is only one à la carte restaurant in the low season; but very nice with a piano player. You've got to try their lamb!!! I usually stick with fish in Cuba (the best), but I took a chance on the lamb and it was excellent. Again, I just loved the two waitresses at this restaurant.(we got to go a few times...) Again, forgot the names, but I always let one of them pick for me what I would eat and was really happy with the choices she made for me... So, if you are looking for a small simple friendly hotel, this is the place!
