The food was excellent, everything was clean. Great pool, friendly staff, plenty of beach chairs under palm trees. There was a quiet adult only pool area with hammocks and jetted tub. Excellent evening shows.

This resort is pretty cute. I don’t like modern or fancy and so this fit the bill for me in terms of authentic Mexican feel. Very enchanted and cute. Wifi sucked. Our room had the worse connection. No sweet spots at all unless you sat on balcony. Our room was an updated one and we liked it. Be warned there’s no elevator. We didn’t mind the steps but it’s something worth mentioning. The staff is lovely so sweet and friendly. Which made it a pleasant stay. Be warned there’s no bottled water in the room. They have a pitcher where you take to the filtered water station out the room. At first I was quite bothered by this but after purchased bottled water we just filled the bottles. The food oh the food. It was lacking. If food is a big deal then this isn’t your resort. Miramare by far best restaurant followed by Mexican restaurant which was quite lovely as well. Buffet sucked. If you’re into bacon there wasn’t as they were always out. Snack bar was fun. Lots of variety for a snack bar. Again, food isn’t their thing but for me everything else made that not matter for me. Beach was beautiful. The seaweed was an issue but not their fault they did their best to clear it up. Pool was fun if you found a spot. I think this resort was quaint and fun and aside from the food which I didn’t really care too much yes I would absolutely good back

I like this resort for accessibility to shopping and the beautiful beach. It is on the smaller side but that is what I like. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, good food and really nice staff. My only criticism is for returning guests there is no benefits like other resorts where they acknowledge your returns and upgrade you or do something special. It was my 3rd time there and all they said was "that's very good". It was disappointing. Also, they don't provide face clothes for bathing. They have a sports bar that has pool tables but they close them down early after 11pm and most adults don't get a chance to use them because up until then it's full of kids and teens. People don't know there is a DJ and dancing after 11pm in the sports bar because it is hidden. There are very few people that go upstairs because you can't really see it. That is unfortunate because people want to dance and have fun at night and meet other people once the entertainment is done for the night in the courtyard. They should do more to advertise the sports bar and the DJ. These are just small suggestions to make the resort better but overall I recommend this resort.

Retuned at Viva Maya for the second time. The resort really covers my needs. Food is exceptional and plenty. The grounds are well maintained and there’s plenty of entertainment during the day and at night. Rooms are clean. The only small hiccup was that the bathroom had a bad odour and we had to have the bathroom fan on all the time. Other than that we love the resort and will go back in a heartbeat

The grounds were lovely and the beach of course is amazing. We noticed that the rooms are not very sound proof and that was disappointing. We were not happy with the quality of the draft beer or the a la carte restaurant food. We thought the buffet food and lobby entertainment was great.

The location is excellent. The beach is amazing. The rooms are good. All of the staff are very good. The food is decent. The efforts of all the staff was the best I have ever seen. They were the most caring about the guests and had a lot of serving staff, maids, bartenders and security presence which enhances and makes you feel appreciated, safe and truly welcome.

This hotel is one of our faves. Small enough that the staff know you by name, but large enough to provide many fun activities. We enjoyed the flying trapeze, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, bingo, archery, bike ride to small ruins, foos ball and thw pool party which were all included. The beach was absolutely amazing all but 1 day. This was our third time there and will definitely be going back.

1st time. at this resort. Viva Maya Playa Del Carmen. Hotel grounds are beautiful. Checkin was dmooth. we were early. so we swam and ate. never went to the adults pool too far away. near the main entrance so. avoid that section of rooms unless you want to walk far to the beach. snack bar is by the main pools. and was ok burgers digs fries salads rice some meats etc. from the snack bar and main pool. only foot steps away from the beach. tons of shaded chairs not enough shaded areas around. the pool. buffet was good always. something. to eat. for vegetarian as well. 1 towel. per day, 3 alacarte. Mexican was the best, high energy environment. and best menu . rooms were clean and comfy with lots of hot water bring mosquito spray . would we go back. yup in a heartbeat ? ?

Great resort ,great food and staff are awesome . We will definitely go back. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Buffet is the best and snack bar is awesome . Beach is really nice and you can walk into Playa Del Carmen in 20 minutes

Grounds were beautiful and well kept. Hotel is a bit dated but we knew that going in. Beach was great. Pools were clean but maybe a bit small for the amount of people staying at this resort. Food was not my favourite for Mexico but we always found something. Staff work hard and were nothing but pleasant and polite. Rooms are small but the bathrooms in the rooms were a great layout. We truly did enjoy our stay

Food was excellent. Good vibe and good atmosphere. I had so much tequila and the La carte dinners were good. The front desk could be more friendly. But overall we had amazing vacation at Viva Maya. There was a lot of sea weed when we went but is it expected at this time of the yrar

The hotel was very clean we really enjoyed the setup . The food was good . The staff was very helpful we Evan took a massage. The hotel room were clean .we went to a couple restaurants and food so good but Mexican one we fell ill after not sure why , all in all we would return to the hotel again .the place was organized and drinks were well made . Lots to o do for families and kids activities.

This resort has everything you need . Clean , good food , great entertainment. Rooms are lovely . Balcony are/ were a disappointment. Lots of chairs on the beach but limited shade options . Sea weed was an issue at time of year we were there beginning of April .

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort from Match 16-23, 2025. I would rate our experience 9/10. This is a very nice, well kempt resort. I will start with our booking process with Tripcentral. I will say I used other websites to research where we wanted to stay as they had more information on the resorts but TripC has the best prices and easy to book through. It was our first time booking through it and will definitely use it again. Now the resort. Our check-in process was fast and we had no line up. The bellhop was very informative of the resort and very friendly! The resort is very moderate in size. You will get your steps in! Room - We are not picky guests when it comes to rooms as we are usually only in there to get ready and sleep. Our room was nice, beds are very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. We had no issues with water pressure/heat. I will say that they do not stock the fridges with water/pop/beer. They are trying to conserve and reduce the use of plastic. Conveniently, there are filtered water fountains you can use halfway through every hallway. They have jugs you can put the water into and leave in your room. Balconies are small in the normal rooms. Pools - There are 3 pools but 5 if you aren’t seeing them as attached. We noticed that the adults only pool/area was pretty chill but the water was a little merky so we opted to not go in there but there was a bar and it wasn’t busy at all. The main pool area was a decent size. We didn’t have too hard of a time finding chairs when we wanted to be by the pool but they do get taken quickly. I feel like there could've been more lounge chairs but it wasn’t a big deal if we couldn’t find one. There’s plenty on the beautiful beach! The pools itself weren’t very busy and the swim up bar rarely had a bartender but only because not a lot of people were in the water, at least while at our stay. The main pool water was a bit merky as well so we kept our heads above water. They were cleaning the pools during our stay which was nice to see and it didn’t take too long for them to be up and running again. The beach was absolutely amazing! We were able to be in the water every day that we were there. The last 3 days, there was a lot of waves and wind so the water didn’t look turquoise but it did the first 4 days! The resort did the best out of all of the ones along the coast, of cleaning the seaweed, by far. There’s lots of lounge chairs out there so you won’t be without! Food - The buffet was pretty good! Had a decent amount of options for breakfast/lunch/supper. Some foods were repetitive throughout lunch/supper. Obviously, some foods were a hit and a miss but that is to be expected. You will find something you like and if not, the fruit was absolutely delicious. I can’t say enough good things about the fruits they had out. Perfectly ripe. I’ve never had better fruits at a resort. We easily could've lived off those our whole trip! And the fruit juices. Amazing! So fresh and not too sweet. The deserts were not the best. At the buffet, you can get your own drinks along with a bucket of ice that’s always filled. Those ice buckets are very convenient to fill up your own mugs with! The servers were fine and friendly enough. We ate at the Mediterranean, Fusion and Mexican restaurants and they were soo good! The service at all 3 places were awesome the food was amazing, especially at the Fusion restaurant. We had the best steak we may have ever had. Unreal. We were shocked by how great the food was at this resort. Didn’t feel unsafe to eat anything there. Didn’t get sick from the food at all. We enjoyed Cafe Maya! The drinks in there were good and nice to try different things than what’s at the bars. They had the perfect foods for a nice lunch or little snacks. We were happy to see that there was zero bugs/flies/bees by the bars. It was all very very clean. We found the lobby made the best drinks! Line ups are to be expected but you just have to wait them out or just stand in line. You won’t be waiting that long but again, it’s to be expected at any resort. The snack bar. HELL YES! Amazing fries lol! They always had good food out (except the hot dogs) Late night snacks was our thing and it mainly hit the spot! There’s always a cook there so it’s not just old food sitting there. They make fresh woodfire pizzas and salty French fries! They are open until 6am so you won’t be without food at this resort. The big bar by the pool was our main drinking hub. Bartenders were good, quick and efficient! Entertainment- Compared to other resorts we have been too, their shows are really good! The entertainment area was pretty big with lots of seating and after the show is done (around 1030) there’s more things happening at the lobby area of the resort until midnight so that was nice that there’s something to do until then! All in all, I would highly recommend anyone to go to Viva Maya! Our experience was exactly what we could’ve hoped for. It was very clean, good food and plenty entertainment in the night! We noticed that the patrons here were mainly Spanish/French speaking. So, we didn’t get to converse with many people during our stay until the last night and we found a a couple Canadians from Ottawa and Nova Scotia so we got to socialize for about 20 mins haha!

The resort grounds are well maintained, the beach is beautiful and clean, the rooms are O.K- daly cleaned but water supp in the bathroom and shower needs improvement. Eexcellent staff services in restaurants and on the grounds. Activity and entertainment acceptable but need to be better promoted.

We were put in what I describe as a dorm room the first night. If they try to out you in 3100, refuse. Beach is good, food is nothing special.Way too many kids running around. For the price, expected more in ambiance, not much to do there. I wouldn’t go back.

Lovely resort, very reasonable price. The location is perfect in Playacar. The beach is stunning, the rooms are charming, the food is pretty good. Plenty of activities with daily events and nightly performances.

It is not too big so the staff are very friendly and easily remember you and your wants re drinks, etc. Easy access to the beach with sufficient lounges for everyone. The pool area is always lively. The ala carte restaurants are very good, with the Mediterranean getting my highest recommendation. The buffet always has something to offer even the pickiest of eaters. The rooms are well maintained.

Really I have nothing negative to say about this resort it was amazing, clean, fun,staff were very nice, informative etc.... Well situated, food was good, the a la carte restaurants were super, the shows were amazing the talent of their staff for the nite shows were spectacular

Arrived at the hotel in about 1hr from the Cancun airport. The check in was smooth and organized - no time wasted there. The premises are clean with well defined signs to guide your first day on site. Arrived late at night but the buffet at the pool offered quite a variety of food for the hungry traveler. The rooms are clean and modern. The safe at no charge was an added bonus. The food at the A la Carte and buffet was excellent with top notch presentation(s) and good variety for all tastes. The staff is courteous and helpful. Plenty of entertainment across the resort at different times of the day. The only dislike is the extreme noise level at rooms close to the main stage.

This resort is absolutely a nightmare! They have no room service, the food is so bad. The minute you walk into the buffet it smells. They don’t have much of a selection and the staff doesn’t seem to care to help with anything. I have been to Mexico many times and this was by far the worst resort I have ever stayed at.

This is a good hotel for 1st time vacations. If you have need tob4 and 5 stars, you will see how they fit as a 3 star. Main buffet needs a better selection of daily meals. There are theme nights but a few different selections. My room and cleamers were awesome. Bar staff 3.5 out if 5. Best drink is called "Rivere Maya." Staff all over were 4 out of 5. Beach was good. Best beach is to the right near the Sandos through the rocks called EmmaCove. Priceless. The Viva buy in progrM that you are hunted down for to try and sell the fancy part, is over priced They want $3500 down and $17000 for the 10 year plan. I did the calculations and with 3 trips a year and buying the flights. You average $3800 to $4600 per. Ouch....

The hotel is older but very clean. Rooms are nice, grounds are beautiful and well kept. It’s a small resort with ramps so if you have mobility issues it’s a very good resort for getting around. Beach and ocean is terrific, very warm waters and extremely clean and very well managed. The down fall to this resort IMO is the buffet food. Lots of choices for Mexican food ( hence you are in Mexico) The salads and deserts are wonderful lot of choices The protein is hamburger meat meat balls, chicken drumsticks and thighs. Two soups every night. The do have pork and fish. But no roasts beefs, or premium meats. etc. Seems the chefs food budget is not very large for the buffet. Bacon is hidden under the flat top so you have to ask for it at the egg station if available. They have a terrific snack bar, by the main pool. Salads pastas, terrific pizzas, cheese burgers, chilli Mexican food. Again super clean. They leave you two water bottles, but have refilling stations all over the place and in the entrance to your rooms. We brought down a hydrometer to test the alcohol content of the beer on tap. It’s only 2.5%. The sports bar has better beer and its 4.5% on tap with Heineken The staff is very friendly. Coffee and pastry bars. All sorts of activities they even have a trapeze for those that dare to have fun. Over all it’s a above a basic resort.‘I would return as it’s very cost effective, and beautiful . I have it an overall 4 but the resort should be a 3.5 star. Mostly because of the lack of different proteins, most resorts have food theme nights with a chef carving stations. His one doesn’t but it’s cost effective for a great vacation.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Beach was beautiful, main pool was decent but the Adults Only Pool was a treat. Food was very good as were drinks. Rooms were clean and fresh for us daily. Highly recommend for a small resort for sun and relax. Thanks Susan for booking for us. Ground floor would be my choice as bigger balcony. Ours was small!!!

I love everything about our vacation in Viva Wyndham Maya. The food, the resort, the beach. It’s awesome and would love to come back. I was skeptical at first reading bad reviews I’m glad I found this resort thru Trip Central.

The resort is gorgeous, the setting perfect....right on the beach, lovely pool, restaurants and great for kids. These are the issues I had.... 1. we could only find 1 English channel on TV....Fox news...that's it.... we called reception multiple times and they kept telling us which channels were in English...but they were not....then we were not able to get Netflix.... they ended up giving us a new TV.... but it was never programmed to use netflix...I was with my 80 year old mother and she really wanted to watch TV, so it was a problem. 2. The food really was not great, did not seem 4 star to me and I'm not a fussy eater. The Italian restaurant in my opinion had the best food. The day I arrived I asked to be booked at each restaurant, turns out I was only booked at 3 out of the 6....then it was too late to get in. 3. They really need an English speaking person at reception at all times....it made communication very difficult. 4. Our toilet was blocked for 3 days and the room smelled really bad. I asked many times.... 5. I was told that there was a doc on site, but I had to pay $120 for them to call a doctor for my mother, had the person at reception understood, they could have explained. 6. There is a list of activities, I downloaded the app...but it does not tell you where to go to par take in the activities. 7. The floors must be cleaned with bleach, I threw my dirty clothes on the floor in the corner of the room and one of my dresses is completely ruined as it is marked with bleach stains The good things... 1. Great entertainment 2. Beautiful location 3. Very close to shops 4. Close walk to 4th Avenue

Beautiful landscape and palm trees for beach. Nice front yard with flowers and palm trees. Buffet is good. Cleaniness of hotel and bathroom. Many activities at the beach and hotel. There is bar near the pool and beach.

Just stayed here for seven days, everything was perfect! Friendly staff nice rooms everything was clean food was amazing lots of options to choose from being a vegetarian, definitely would go back! Couldn’t ask for anything better

First off, let me just say that the staff who work at this resort are absolutely incredible. We stayed for seven days and felt like we were at home (but better) we are looking at going again next year!

Grounds very nice an clean, well maintained. Nice, relaxing public areas (especially the one by the main lobby). Clean rooms, but facial tissues Not provided! We would expect from this kind of resort complimentary fridge refill and free safety box. There was only one complimentary bottle of water per person upon arrival and empty fridge. Additional water available at high price in the lobby store. Standard buffet with No organic choices. Butter replaced with margarine. Dress code for ala carte restaurants required on website but not enforced at all, same with kids age limitation posted on the sign at the main pool. On the positive side there were sufficient amount of lounge chairs around the pool as well as on the beach. So you could find the lounge chair even around 10 -11am. Staff helpful and friendly.

Hotel was always clean, facilities were always available, never knew about the wind sailing as it was also included in all inclusive package which made our day at the beach really memorable, excursions offered were decently priced and well worth in trip.

Food was great. Never a lack of food and variety. 24 hour restaurant and bar had wide variety not just nachos and buns. Pork roast, rice chicken fries burgers hot dogs fruit vegetables you name it. Very clean. Lots for kids. Ocean is wonderful. Adult only pool is quiet and a little piece of heaven. Plenary of purified water at all bars. Staff are not in your face for tips all the time. Close to lots of shops and restaurants

It was our first time in Mexico and we chose this smaller resort. The beach is amazing! Lots of Palm trees for shade and lots of water activities although the seadoos were coming too close and giving off fumes. They should have a designated area. Buffet was small and very basic, comparable to Cuba, I expected more from Mexico, the à la carte were very good tho. No entertainment or live music and no table service we had to get everything ourselves at the bar. Room was clean and they keep the grounds immaculate. The staff works very hard and are friendly. We're not demanding or picky so we still had a good week but would not return.

The resort was a little older and dated but clean and well maintained The rooms were bare bones,no alarm clock,coffee maker and having to pay for the safe was a little annoying. The food in the alacart restaurants was good but lackluster in the buffet The staff and service was excellent. Lots of beach chairs was nice. The shows at night were good. Overall the resort was good but more of a 3 star by mexican standards

This hotel is not fancy- rooms are basic but clean. The staff is incredible... friendly, helpful and welcoming. Grounds are kept meticulously. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of shade and enough chairs for everyone. Pool is a decent size, never seemed crowded and was always well maintained. Food was ok. Lots to choose from in the buffet, but some days better than others as each day a different nationality was featured. Lots of Mexican options if that interests you. A la carte restaurants were very good. We aren't big drinkers but what we did try was fine, not excellent but just ok. We would definitely go back here.

This was our overall first vacation. Booking the vacation was so easy with Jack our travel agent. We also bought the medical insurance which I strongly recommend as we did use it for our daughter. The doctor was in our room within one hour of calling the insurance company and they arranged everything for us including the medications. Overall the hotel staff were so nice there was so many activities to do for the adults and the kids club personnel were so nice. The only thing I didn't like is that there were a lot of kids that Only spoke Spanish so depending on how many kids were there they watched Spanish movies and spoke Spanish which my kids did not understand. The beach was gorgeous. The beach was gorgeous. The water was literally turquoise. Very clean up capped well really no complaints. The room was not very fancy but they cleaned it every single day. One thing I will say is beware of the Zika virus. We flew down in the end of September and due to the moisture and lots of rain and there was a lot of mosquitoes. My brother, his wife and their one-year-old all got the Zika virus....... other than this unfortunate event I would definitely recommend the resort to someone else it was so much fun they had a lot of activities during the day and I would definitely recommend taking a tour to the reef which is not far at all. So worth the money !!! The experience of booking this vacation was easy and I will definitely use jack as our travel agent again!!!!

1st of all I rated this 5* for what I expected in a 3+ resort. Beach-amazing, a la cart food-awesome, staff-great, lay out-easy, rooms-better than some, basic but clean, liquor-top shelf, very clean, staff enjoyed working there took pride in their resort

Nice size resort. Great beach and friendly and helpful staff. Close to playa del Carmen. Great a la carte restaurants and you can also book the restaurants at their sister resort the Azteca. Playacar is a good location.

Wonderful hotel who work hard to ensure that you enjoy your vacation! There are always activities happening from Yoga in the morning- to Catamaran sailing. There is something for everyone! We really enjoyed the free bike use- as Playa Del Carmen is a short 15 minute bike ride from the resort and is a wonderful town for shopping. The A La Cart restaurants were wonderful- with amazing food and service. We also took advantage of the Viva Wyndham Aztec which is a few resorts down and is accessible for guests staying at the Maya. This was a nice option for dinner one night. The international buffet has a wide variety of food and the Panini maker was a favourite for us for lunch! The rooms are clean and the balcony is a nice option. The Relax pool was a favourite for us! Tomas the bartender there is wonderful and keeps your drinks full with a smile! We would recommend this resort- you wont be disappointed!

It was overall really great. Tons of stuff to do besides bake on the beach! We went on a long bike ride, paddle boarded, kayaked, went on a catamaran - all included. We also went on a great excursion to Tulum. Would go back to this area again!

Clean and good location beach wast good time of the year but definitely recomonded this location close to 5th street by walking close to Starbucks it is a nice quiet and safe place to walk around definitely recomonded

Hotel Staff were great; extremely friendly, down to earth and helpful. Rooms were clean and modern - no issues. Buffet food was ok, restaurants were better. Entertainment outside of resort was easily accessible. We were a group of 4 (2 - 30 year old couples) found there to be quite a mix of ages and nationalities which we really enjoyed. Sunwing travel portion was not the greatest.

To start we booked through Holiday Market Travel, which has been bought/taken over my trip central. So there description of was different from what is currently on their website. So, some expectation we different. I was expecting a litre of water per day as per the "Smile" extras, which made a difference to me. We had to purchase water everyday. The second item it was longer transfer from the airport. Other than those two items, this is an average 3plus hotel. The free internet by the lobby is very slow, it is better to walk to the Starbucks just outside the resort for better results. The town is about a 20 minutes walk depending on your speed. And in town if you choose you can take a ferry over to Cozumel. The food and drinks are average, and they do have an coffee/bar to get specialty coffees. The rooms are average, and clean, the pillows are flat or too puffy, the lighting in the room is commercial grade florescent, the lighting at night made me feel nauseated, so I left them off. Lots of activities if you want to participate, and the beach vendors really do not bug you. Overall just average.

This was our second time at this resort. We chose vip and it was well worth it. Besides having a ground floor that was oceanfront we had our own space to sit with comfortable loungers. The food at the buffet was always delicious with lots of variety. The Mexican restaurant was our favourite a la carte. The food was delicious and they had wonderful staff. The shows every night had a theme and the entertainment staff works so hard to provide wonderful shows and dancing and singing. They also keep everyone busy during the day with everything from yoga and Zumba to games like darts and bocce ball. The grounds are beautiful with lush garden and we were amazed at how hard they work to keep everything so clean. The only thing you have to watch is the timeshare people approaching you. We just said we were not interested and he left us alone. Would recommend this hotel if you have kids as well. Also we were a five minute cab ride from Playa del Carmen.
