Small so easy to get around - I loved that I’m not a fan of giant resorts. Buffet was great, had Italian à la carte and it was very good. Pool is great but typical loud - beach is very small and shallow would be great with small children - no real ability to swim it’s a tiny cordoned off area - but we walked quite far down the beach to number of other resorts, and they were very weedy. Great service other than check-in, which is always painfully slow for some reason at these places. A real benefit is that it is right beside the fairy dock so you can take a ferry so easily to Isla Mujeres and have a fabulous beach day there. If you’re a pool person, it’s a great resort seemed very easy to get chairs, etc. if you’re a beach person you really need to just go over to the island. It’s ok for a day or with small children but really limited

Great food was offered at the buffet and restaurants. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Location is convenient to the ferry terminal. I would definitely stay there again. The only improvement I could suggest is to add ceiling fans in the lobby.

The rooms in the hotel were fine, however we had to ask for cleaning in the afternoon until someone showed up. We thought the food was terrible. Everyday in the buffets it was the same thing-chicken-either the leg or the wings or pieces of the other parts. The fruits were hard and cold. Vegetables were also hard and cold. In other words it is not at all up to par with any other resort we have been to. The beach was full of stones and sand. It is not what we had expected. The area where one can sit and go into the pool was fine unless when someone stole your spots. Also there were many teenagers there and other young people off on March Break. It was very noisy at all times. We were more than disappointed in The OccidentLAL

This was my 5th time at the Occidental Costa and still love it. Fantastic staff, especially Juani, Antonio and Sandra. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food was excellent, beds comfy, the resort layout is so great...not too big and not too small. So convenient to have the Ferry next door. The beach has changed a bit and a little more rocky but I think that probably goes for everywhere. Water is still calm which I love. The pool and beach entertainment could offer a little more variety and missed having the afternoon entertainment at the beach. i.e. the comical stuff where guests are involved. Overall a great place and I will be back again.

|This resort is beautiful when lit up at night! Good variety of food available, 24 hour snack bar, specialty restaurants were great. No swim up bar, but there is a bar close to the pool, the lobby, and the beach. Small resort means less walking to get to amenities, but still lots of spaces for guests to sit. Room was as expected, but we backed onto the street and it was loud. Bartenders made fabulous drinks. Hotel giftshop is expensive, and exchange rate on credit card is even worse. Had a slight problem at check-out. Our trip confirmation email said noon, but the hotel said it was 11am, tried to charge us an additional fee by the hour! We disputed it. Our airport shuttle pick up was scheduled for 5:10pm due to evening flight. The hotel said we were all inclusive until 3pm only. The beach area is very small, and in a bay busy with boats. There was alot to watch, but not a serene beach experience. Zero nightlife after 11pm, daily 7pm piano player is fab, 9pm nightly entertainer was fun. My favorites were Circus night and Karaoke. Some of the guests are so talented!

This hotel has lovely openness to it. It took far too long to check in with only 3 people working the front desk. They did immediately pull us aside to sell us on time share at their sister site, and while pleasant they are persistent. The property was very clean and well maintained. The food was fresh daily and seating readily available, we never waited more than 2 mins for a seat. Also as someone with multiple food allergies( gluten, dairy and eggs) there was a moderate selection of food that was fresh and available The beach access was small, however there was enough space to luxuriate in the sun. The room we were given was impressively large with a great size balcony. I found that the bed was more firm that I would have liked and the same can be said for the pillows. The resort is very organized when it was time to leave they were expecting and looking for us. The people are so great! for the package I purchased this trip was exactly what I was looking for.

Everything was fantastic especially the staff. The swimming area in the ocean was small but access to the bars was very easy to get to also the ala carte. Met a lot of nice people from England, Poland , Ottawa Alberta , US , Argentina, The excursion was very good and also the tour guide. The staff always cleaning all round. The buffet was great and the snack bar.

I will not recommend this resort to anybody, the A/C was either on or off, could not control it, there was sewer smell in our room 3 times, toilet wouldn’t flush sometimes, the shower would go from burning hot to cold, the balcony wasn’t even big enough to put 1 chair on it and you could look into both your neighbours balcony, only 2 English channels on tv , the nightly shows were right below our room and the food was just okay, and no hot tub

The food was excellent at the buffet and the a-la-cartes. Waiter Philipe at the buffet was very attentive. Room was very clean and our mini bar was restocked daily with beer bottled water, chocolate bars and peanuts.

It is a very nice very clean hotel with amazing staff, they are the best and very good to great food. The standard rooms are the smallest I have ever seen. The terrace room we upgraded to is more like a typical room you would expect to get. Very nice and updated. The building is set designed in a way that more than half the rooms have a poor to very poor view. It is not ocean front. The beach is very small, the size of a tennis court at the mouth of the lagoon, marina. No turquoise water or waves. More like a murky lake. The pool is very nice. We like the ocean so it wasn’t for us.

This hotel is perfect for someone who just wants to relax and take it easy in a one-stop, intimate setting. The resort is very contained, 3 a la carte restaurants surround a lovely pool area, and the buffet restaurant looks out over the ocean. The buffet was delicious (omelette bar every morning was my personal favourite) and the staff was extremely friendly, fast and gracious. The beach area is very small and confined, so if you're an ocean lover and prefer to frolick in the waves on your vacations, this is not the place for you. If you love to sit in the sun poolside, this resort is perfect. The resort keeps you entertained too. They would host a bingo game every day at 1pm by the pool, and every night the hotel had a show - circus, magician, Jersey Boys - it was great. I would recommend this to any family or couple or friend group looking to relax. The atmosphere is a perfect mix between fun and relaxing. Final note - I had a massage while I was there and it was outstanding. Some hotel massages can be extremely average, and this one felt professional and upscale.

We loved the Occidental Costa Cancun for many reasons. The service was incredible (room, restaurants, front desk, bartenders - you name it!). We were impressed with how clean the resort was at all times. The food (buffet and al la carte restaurants) were all fantastic. A great location on the Cancun hotel strip - easy to catch a cab or a bus into the downtown core. All around, we loved our experience and we're very sad to head home. 10/10!!!

We just returned from family vacation to Occidental Costa Cancun. No complaints! Excellent service during the week...we loved our week away at this resort. It is our third trip to Barcelo brand in Mexico...alway been great...we trust it. We all feel we got our monies and suns worth during our stay. Rooms are a bit dated but super clean and beds were great. Our kids 19/16 had their own room but was a bit away so asking to put us side by side...accommodated without issue...again awesome! The lobby bar and seating great spot to relax before dinner or going for shower. The shows at night were fun to watch even my teens enjoyed dancing with Aladdin. Brandon and the entertainment crew around the pool made it tones of fun, water volley, bingo and even a visit from the grinch! He is a mean one at times. Louis at the buffet greeting us with a smile...buffet with themes each day, great food...even the micro buffet opens around 5am if you have a day trip. The beach is smallish and limited sun (before noon) vs pool all day. Shallow and would great for little kids. We preferred the pool area with chess and ping pong and the teens in pools all day Small downer I suppose is...pay for wifi...is that really it? I guess so but put those devices in safe and soak the sun and family time. These days go by fast!!!

We were extremely disappointed with the beach as it's smaller than the pool and the water colour was grey as the water from a lagoon leads into this area of the beach and it was kind of Muddy, don't let the pic fool you. Lack of night life after 10.30.pm. no music. This hotel was nice, the staff was excellent, we run out of small bills in the first week😊, food was Good to excellent, lovely restaurants. Room was nice and clean. If you're not much of a beach person and looking to just relax nice and quiet this would be a great place for you. We stayed 2wks & By the 12th day we were ready for home. The grounds were beautiful, easy access to public transit and shopping. I also felt very safe here.

I was looking for somewhere to celebrate our 35th anniversary and the Occidental Costa was not what I had in mind. I will say that the food was good, the entertainment and dance lessons were also great. The staff were helpful and friendly. However, it was smaller then I anticipated, there was no beach to speak of, the pool was positively frigid. The room was tiny and the air conditioners were just outside our balcony. Within the first day we made the decision to move to Panama Jack's . I have to say that I had heard great things about Occidental, but I must say we were very disappointed.

What a lovely relaxing, authentic resort. Food great, rooms great! Now the staff well they were exceptional: Elena at reservations Alex at the Lobby Bar Antonio at the Mexican Restaurant and David Juan and Arturo at the Seafood restaurant Luis at the buffet restaurant Brenan, Danny, Shayla, C, Javier (they are the best!!!!) Estaban Now I probably forgot some names and spelled the incorrectly but the staff go above and beyond. Would recommend to anyone who is wanting a quiet time and relaxing!

Occidental was a great resort for us. It was not very big. You came down from your room and the pool, beach and restaraunts were right there. Food selection and flavour was excellent. Distance from the airport was only 20 mins and rooms were spacious and clean. Enjoyed our short trip thoroughly. Will definitely go there again!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent at this hotel. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful. The beach is small but perks are: It is flowing water from nearby lagoon, kept clean of seaweed, and calm to swim despite the current from the lagoon. Sand is like powdered sugar! The staff are warm and friendly. The hotel is located steps away from Xcaret, the Jolly Roger and Captain Hook dinner cruises, and the ferry to Isla Mujeres. The nightly entertainment was top notch. The activities during the day kept people involved. Loved the dance lessons, Zumba, etc. Easy access to the transit with only 12 pesos pp. easy to get around hotel district or into Cancun. The food at the buffet was average. The a la carte food and service at the Mexican, and Italian were top notch! Rooms very clean and convenient. a few minor repairs needed but not worth making a big deal about. The internet provider that the hotel uses was the only disappointing part of our vacation. I don't like paying for something I am unable to use. I was offered 15% back and really should have asked for a full refund. Not a big deal though as the resort was wonderful!

Rooms were prob the only good thing about this resort. Food was sub par, bar wasn’t stocked daily unless called and requested. We got cut off our bracelets in morning of last day and was told our cut off was 1pm for food and drink. No one spoke proper English Very loud shows in main pool area every night and a party boat runs nightly next door until 2am. Helicopter, cruise ships and seadoos cruising by beach all day with black exhaust and diesel in water. Beach is clean in morning with tide in and dirty yellow weed water in afternoon. All bars close at 11 during week and midnight on weekend unless your staff them they party all night. Room service is an extra fee $10 per soggy plate of fries and soggy sandwiches. Restaurants you have to book daily in morning with limited spots even though they’re empty when you go inside. Spend the extra money and go to a better 4 or 5 star. This I’d rate a 3-3.5. After researching and reading reviews for weeks about where to stay in Cancun Beth from Tripcentral recommended the Occidental Costa. So glad she did because my 15 year old and I had an Amazing time!! It is about half hour drive from the airport. We arrived mid morning and it was raining ( umbrellas were provided to walk around resort) Check in is at 3 but we were able to check in early. The safe wasnt working but within the 10 min we called the desk..someone was up to fix it. The room was nice and beds were comfortable. Only complaint about room was we were facing the hotel beside us which did get noisy at night..so my note to self is pack ear plugs on next trip. Buffet: plenty of variety to choose from and it was really good food A la carts: you do need to book early if you hope to eat at a decent time. Mexican and Italian...the food was great There are enough loungers at the pool and beach. We did find the pool water on the cool side. It wasnt too busy during the week but once Friday hit, it started to get busier and a bit noisier. So we did enjoy the quiet during the week There is a boat that goes to island across the way (Isla Majures). You can rent a golf cart to. Great day trip! I dont have anything negative to say about the staff. In each area they were all friendly, and attentive. Our favorite staff was everyone at the beach bar! Location is great,Private beach with boats coming in so things to see. Will definitely go back to the Occidental Costa

I would say the resort it's more of a family-friendly Resort not a lot of young people the activities were mediocre however the food was great the service was great. The washroom could use an upgrade.

The resort was nice - very clean, and the grounds were lovely. The staff were always friendly, and the buffet food was good with fresh salads, fruit, breads and various meat dishes served daily. I would have liked more Mexican food at the buffet, such as - nachos, salsa and guacamole, but I only had that once in the Mexican restaurant. They served nachos sometimes at the buffet, but no salsa or guacamole. We tried each of the 3 restaurants, and really enjoyed the seafood one the best. We liked that the beach chairs were located under a grove of palm trees. The swimming area was okay, but it was located right next to where all the large tourist boats were coming and going, and that combined with the noise/smell of seadoos and other watercraft made it a bit too busy for us. We would have preferred a quieter beach. We enjoyed the shows they put on every night from 9-10 p.m., and also the piano entertainment in the hotel lobby. I've always loved the frozen margaritas in Mexico, but this time it was hit 'n miss - the best ones I had were at the beach bar and seafood restaurant. I gave up after a few bad drinks and just had the white wine which was pretty good. All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay, but will not return to this particular hotel because the beach area was too noisy.

Spent one week (Jan 31/19-Feb 7/19) at the Occidental Costa Cancun. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable rooms, good food (great variety), beautiful grounds and awesome Activity crew. There is something for all ages.

Occipital costa Cancun was very clean environment it was very harmonious and the step members were friendly gestured. I really enjoyed dining .my favour food was seafood. I would love to visit Cancun again .

We had a fabulous stay at the costa cancun. It is a small resort, so all the staff gets to know you well. The staff is amazing, especially the recreation staff and the restaurant servers! The food was very good, and a great variety. The resort is kept very clean and well maintained. This is the only resort we have ever been to where we could find lounge chairs available any time of day at the pool or beach, they are very plentiful! This resort has very good use of space and everything is within a short distance. Also excellent if you are going on excursions, because right around the corner from the buffet restaurant is the port of take off for all sorts of fun things, like the ferry to Isla Mujeres, Pirate ships, dance and party boats, jet ski. The beach is a bit small but other than that this was a great resort and we enjoyed our week very much!

We found this resort last minute for a cheap price. The resort was clean. The food was good. The beach was small. Only 1 pool. Some of the music played was not appropriate for children. We had a late pick up on our last day (5:25pm) and were told we could not eat or drink past 1pm. We also found the service very lacking on our last day at lunch so we didn't leave a tip at that meal.

We spent 7 days in Paradise at the Occidental Costa Cancun from February 24th to March 3rd. The flight with Transat was smooth and we arrived with no issues. Transfer was a bit confusing but it all got figured out quickly. Staff at the resort was wonderful and we were made to feel very welcome. Food was good and drinks even better. It is a smaller resort and not in an area of Cancun that is close to downtown or the hotel zone. We were going for R&R and just fun and that's what we got. We didn't do any excursions but lots were available. I would definitely return to this resort!

Just stayed at the Occidental Costa Cancun, and had a good time. It’s a very small resort, the rooms, pool, restaurants, and beach are all in a small area. The pool was nice, lots of chairs available. The food was so-so, nothing special there. You could only make reservations for a la carts in the mornings, getting into the Italian was a pain, with a huge line-up at 7am to get in for dinner. The beach was nice, if small, with lots of water traffic in front of the resort and a small area where swimming was allowed. No snorkelling at the resort. The ferry over to Isla Mujeres was right at the resort, as well as the Jolly Roger pirate ship excursion which was convenient. Lots of seaweed on the beach, even though they rake it every morning there was always seaweed at the water line. No free wifi, you have to pay to use it and it’s not good at all, always cutting in and out and the prices for everything seem to change day to day. The rooms were okay, clean but nothing special. The air conditioning in my room was turned off when I got there, didn’t have it for a few days until I called. When they actually turned it on it was leaking but worked. Daily shows by the pool and always entertainment at night. Wouldn’t go back but didn’t have a horrible time. Still enjoyed the sunshine and relaxation at the beach or pool.

We loved this hotel! It’s a smaller and easy to get around resort, small yet beautiful beach, rooms were immaculate and up to date and the staff were so friendly! Wifi was very difficult to access even after paying for. Lots to do around the area and we loved the nightlife close by, the staff ensured that we had easy access to transportation. I would definitley come back to this resort!

The resort was very clean and the staff very friendly & always ready to help. The small fridge in the room is always full of drinks (beer, pop) & some peanut snacks. The entertainment staff, as a whole, was awesome, especially the daily aerobics/aqua aerobics on the beach, plus the afternoon dance lessons. In the evening, there's also a show with a different theme, every night. The beach is not big, but there's always room for everyone. There are lots of chairs on the beach to choose from, and the bar is right there, just a few steps from the chairs. The food was very delicious & yummy, in all of the restaurants, buffet or a la carte, even the 24 hr snack stop was always filled up with fresh foods. Special mention of Jose Poot, who is a waiter at Claraboya, he really made our breakfast & dinners there more interesting; a very friendly person. And even on the last day, you can still eat & have a drink (or shots of tequila,etc), while waiting to be picked up for the airport. Most important of all, we felt safe all the time, even outside the resort. We went to a market, walked around, and everyone is friendly. Would go back again, no doubt! We (the whole family )love this resort because everywhere you look, it's clean. Our room was a good size one, and was cleaned up everyday. The beach is a little bit small, but it doesn't get overcrowded; the water is so clear, it doesn't matter how many people are in it. But what really impressed us the most, are the staff and the people working in the restaurants, be it at the buffet or the a la carte. We would like to say thank you, to Jose at Claraboya restaurant, he made our dinner/lunch there more interesting. He is very friendly & welcoming. The food in all the restaurants are delicious! I personally thank the Entertainment Staff also, for doing a great job, especially the aqua aerobics, and the Dance lessons at 4:00 pm, that I really enjoyed a lot, thanks to Brandon & company. The daily evening shows were also fantastic, they really worked hard to entertain the hotel guests. Thanks again, to all the staff at Occidental Resort Cancun, my family had a great time!

I had a great time at the Occidental Costa Cancun, the people were great very hospitable. We went to various tours and when we came back they treated us great. The resort beach is very limited (in terms of available sand and sea surface); also there is intense motor boat traffic in the close proximity of the hotel beach which rendered it more than inconvenient; thus the solution was to go (via public transportation-bus-which is reasonable in terms of cost and schedule) to other public beaches (i.e. approx 20, 30 min away from Occidental Costa); had we known this "detail" about the resort beach we would have probably picked another resort; for example there is Occidental Tucancun about 15 min drive away from the Occidental Costa with a nice private beach; bottom line for people (like us) who assign importance to the quality of the resort beach we do not recommend Occidental Costa Cancun; another negative (not that important to us but it may be for other people) was the fairly poor (lack of) daytime animated activities (i.e. sport competitions, dancing classes); also, this resort has no night club; thus for people interested in a late night dancing they would need to travel outside the resort; not a major issue for us but it would have been useful to have these clarifications before booking; on the positive side: all three a-la-carte restaurants were quite good, the buffet menu was ok in terms of food quality and variety; good service, friendly waiters, bartenders, receptionists etc

Wonderful rooms, great staff and being upgraded to first club upon check-in was amazing! Food wasn't great, the queso and guacamole was watery thin, the desserts bland and spices were either through the roof or non-existent. Oriental restaurant was by far the best. Mario and Walter with Go Natural Excursions were amazing and we felt safe. Consuela at the lobby bar was a super hero when a wallet was left behind on top of being an awesome waitress. I would have no problem staying at Occidental Xcaret again, but next time I would eat out more often.

We were a group of 7 friends ranging in age of 37-57. I've previously been to Varadaro, La Romana, Jamaica, Bahamas and Mayan Riveria. This place was right up there as a top 3 favorite. First of all the staff are amazing! Everyone was so friendly and hard working. The food was incredible. We never had a problem finding something we liked. The restaurants were really good as well, however, the reservation system is horrible. Getting up at 6:30am on my vacation is not my idea of fun but if you wanted a reservation, you had to be in the lobby this early. The rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable. The minibar was stocked every day with beer and other drinks. We had a small patio but we were hardly in our room so this didn't matter. My only complaint about the room was there was no insulation around the door (you could see outside all around the door). We could hear all the traffic outside which sucked for sleeping. The resort is small but we never had a problem finding a good seat on the beach or at the pool and we were 7 people (it was a lot busier our last day April 8th because everyone was coming for Easter), but still not a problem. We loved hanging out on the beach and watching all the water traffic. There is no place to get drinks past 12 midnight on this resort. Everything closes early so if you like to stay up late drinking, this might not be the resort for you. I didn't have an issue because I rarely saw midnight (too much day drinking, lol). It is extremely easy to hop on a bus outside the resort or take a cab into town if you want to party it up. Highly recommend Coco Bongo, it was an amazing show! Everyone was complaining there was no free wifi. Although it might have been a nice perk, I didn't mind because it was good to disconnect. I checked my email once a day using the free wifi next door :) If you hang out over by the volleyball court or get a nice seat out on the patio at the buffet, you can pick up the wifi at the bar next door. We booked a catamaran tour through Luiz (located where you get the kayaks, etc.) and went to Isle Majueres, snorkeling, had lunch and unlimited drinks for $65 US pp. Great deal! Luiz is amazing to deal with! I would return to this resort in a heartbeat. It was exactly what we were hoping for and more. I already miss the mojitos and cappuccinos!

Just back from a very relaxing time at the Occidental Costa Cancun. The staff was friendly and took care of our every need. The food was excellent and the room was perfect. We really enjoyed the "Piano Man" who entertained every evening in the hotel lobby. A lot of effort was put in by the activities staff to keep everyone entertained during the day and evening. While we were there we met people from all over the world and from 6 months to 90 years old. A family friendly resort with things quieting down after the excellent stage shows put on every evening. We really enjoyed the Italian style a-la-cart restaurant. Only disappointments were that our off resort trip had to be cancelled because the windy conditions on the water and the fact that a nice long walk along the beach is not possible at this resort.

I loved everything at this smaller resort. Room, food, service, pool, bars, the close proximity of everything, cleanliness, location. The beach was very small but I knew that when I booked and it was still lovely. The only thing is we paid for ocean view with a balcony, and we got stuck with one that was only big enough to stand on. You couldn't fit a chair on it...whereas almost all other rooms had huge balconies with chairs and hammocks. It didn't ruin our vacation at all... just felt the extra 500.00 wasn't worth it. I still want to go back. Had a great time. Andreas at the buffet was was a rock star server..the other guys were great too. Great staff.

I spent a great week at this hotel with my 2yr old daughter, my mom and my aunt. The layout of the hotel is ideal for travelling with child. No walking for 20 minutes both ways when you've forgotten something in your room! The resort is very clean, the staff is AMAZING, food is good. In terms of value for your money we felt we got more than what we paid for. We didn`t happen to leave the resort during the week we were there but had we gone to Isla Mujeres as orignially planned, the ferry was literally at the doorstep of the resort. I suppose some would find the beach a little small, but again, for us it was great. My daughter loved watching all the boats leaving port. Would go back again for sure.

We had a wonderful time at the Occidental Costa, the hotel was spotless in all areas, good food and entertainment, simply the best. The staff were very accommodating and made every day a pleasure we would recommend this hotel. The beach is small but ample as this is not a huge hotel, lovely palm trees on the beach and a fabulous bar. We would love to visit again.

It was a good resort small but clean. My mom and i had a great time. The staff were polite and fun. Food was good. Room we're very clean and service was great. The resort had a smaller beach than expected but was very clean. The good side of it is that no matter what time we woke up to go to the beach we always had a chair in the sun or shade. Everything was close together. The only downside for me is that they did not have a Expresso Machine is the lobby only in the buffet so everytime i wanted onei had to wait for the Buffet to open. Again it's not a big deal but would be a good idea to add one to the Lobby Bar.

Very nice resort. Very clean and lots of friendly servers and staff. Buffets provided lots of varity and good food. Restaurants service was great but food could have been better. Beach was clean and well taken care of. Lots of activities and the night shows were great.

Jai vraiment aimer le manger les spectacles et la piscine la plage un peux petite pour la chambre ne prenais jamais chambre 156 tres bruyant a coter du restaurant mais il nous ont changer a un autre so apres supert a plus pour la propreter

its was a nice resort ,,1 night wee hade the room 156 and its beside the mexicain restaurent and we didn't sleep for 3 nignt ,,the clean after the restaurant its closed and we didn't sleep,,so after the 3 night we asks to be change room ,,they put us in 435 and its was super ,,the restaurent a la carte the have 3 its very excellent ,,,the buffet was ok ,,the beach to small and the water was very nasty ,,but the pool was nice ,,,the thing they need is a pool bar ,,but every things was very good ,,,oupp no internet at this hote,l sad ,,,but well it was a nice vacation...

The resort was quite small but what it lacked in size was made up for by the hospitable staff and amazing food. The evening entertainment was ok but lacked variety and with the resort not offering a disco or evening music it made for somewhat boring nights. Unless we had a late dinner ate in of the three amazing restaurants or buffet. There was good for everyone's tastes and we always had full bellies! There was one large pool, a small beach area but there was never any issue finding a place at either. It was nice to get away and be social with the other vacationers. I'm not sure we will return based on our love of dancing and music. But, overall the experience was great and relaxing.

It was beautiful, there is one pool and one smaller beach. The resort is smaller compared to most I've seen. It's a beautiful light blue chunk of ocean right in front of the beach though and it's is truly a hotel based on quality over quantity. The food was great service was impeccable! The rooms were perfect, beds very comfortable and clean.

We have nothing but goods things to say about Occidental Costa Cancun. We booked a last minute trip, so it was a super saver room which was a little scary, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and they restocked the mini fridge daily with Corona, Corona light, assorted soft drinks and bottled water. The cleaned the room daily and replaced the linens in the bathroom daily. There was plenty of hot water. The grounds were well kept as were the public washrooms( cleaned several times daily). The food at the buffet was good and plentiful. The Oriental, Italian, and Mexican A La Carte restaurants were good as well ( you have to make reservations at the A La Carte restaurants so you have to been at the front desk by 7:00 am to get an early seating for dinner). We would not hesitate to recommend Occidental Costa Cancun to our family and friends.

The resort was smaller than we normally go to but ended up being a plus. There was no waiting for drinks, no holding lounge chairs, no line ups for omelets or fajitas. It was clean, friendly staff, fun entertainment, no language barriers. Very pleasantly surprised and would go again tomorrow.

We enjoyed this hotel, staff was very friendly. BUT if your a group larger than 6 people it was HELL to make dinner reservations which you had to do every morning. It was so bad we had to ask for the hotel manager to help make our dinner reservations for 9 people. This part almost ruined it for us . It was beyond frustrating. So my advise is your family if larger than 6 don't go

The only issue I had with this resort was making dinner reservations for a group of 9. We are a family of 9 who enjoy to eat dinner together, especially dinner. This was a big deal and couldn't accommodate us, they wanted us to eat at different times! We had to get the hotel manager involved to get help. Based on how stressful it was to eat together we will not return. If you are a group smaller than 8 then this is a great resort. Food is good, drinks are good and service is great. Don't book a standard room, there is a balcony but not wide enough for a chair!! We were able to pay to upgrade our rooms to larger rooms with balconies.

The hotel was very clean. When we arrived it was very beautiful to look at. Then we checked in and the ladies who checked us in was very kind. It was quick to check in. I was there for 7 days and it was great. Great food and staff made my whole trip enjoyable!

We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. Overall, we had good time there and were quite happy with the service, food selection, pool condition and entertainment provided at the location. However the second night I realized there were cockroaches in our room. I complained and we were upgraded to a very clean room with a terrace and a nice view over the resort. Our stay was very pleasant since. I think you will get a good value for your money just be careful of the bugs. Check your room before settling for the night!

Location, room, amenities were as expected. Great service and good overall. Beach was good, food was excellent. Shows were somewhat acceptable. People were very kind, helpful and things were as planned. Nothing negative in our stay.

Warm welcome- room upgraded on arrival! Concierge -Ivett Munguia-most accomodating! Facilities immaculate.Al la carte restaurant Clare Boya- manager fabulous! Waitresses-Juani and Sandra -the most loving ladies!. Bartenders, activity directors were so inclusive and friendly to all!. Resort accomodated a Super Bowl party- game day food and all! Food better than any previous resorts we have been at. Beach a bit small, but away many days to the nearby excursions. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Hotel has good service and very good food, special reservation dinner like spanish dinner was excellent, only no Internet WI-FI service include package, you need buy daily pass. Overall really good hotel.

Nice clean modern rooms. All the staff were friendly and beyond curtious. The food was the best. Unbelievable variety. Will be back next year. We had taxi and buses right outside resort. Lots of thinks to do and a nearby river lagoon walkway park. Also nightly entertainment was fun yet things got quiet at 11th so made for a good nights sleep.

Hotel was very clean. Rooms were okay. No balcony unless you upgraded. No bathtubs. Resort was small so I really liked that. Familiar faces. Food was okay. The Mexican restaurant was delish. However, you had to be ready at 7am to make reservation. Location was great!! Beach was not the best. But, the sand was like talc.

Stayed Dec 13 - Dec 20/2014 The Hotel was clean but a little dated in some areas. Food was good in Buffet and in the a la carte restaurants. Service was great in all areas and staff always pleasant and helpful. Grounds were kept very clean at all times. Contention 1 - Photos are deceiving to size of beach - postage stamp. Saving grace was guests did not wake early to save chairs along beach or pool as in many other resorts. You also lost the light at the beach/pool early (around 4) due to positioning of hotel. Beach is the only reason I would not recommend this hotel. For business, short stays or persons only there for excursions - would be really good. Contention 2 - asked for guidance, when booking, which resort (Costa or Tucancun) would better meet my criteria (cleanliness and beach for walking) and felt letdown. Note that this is first time disappointed when booking through Trip Central. In closing made due and had a relaxing time with my daughter. Looking to book the next trip.

Barcelo was pretty sleepy and lacked any on ground night life. also no swim up bar. The staff made it a great week - you have to join Rubi, Kenia, Angel, and Sebastian - they'll take great care of you. Also thanks to Natalie from Tripcentral for coordinating our unique trip. everything was perfect!

My husband and I stayed at Barcelo Costa Cancun for 6 nights in June and we were overall very happy with their services. The room was very nice, but since it did not have a balcony, it was difficult to dry our bathing suits after each dip in the sea. You can, of course, upgrade to a room with a balcony (big, fancy one, with hammocks), but all we wanted was a place to dry wet clothes. The hotel pool and the beach were also very nice, as were the amenities, such as towels and lounge chairs. The sea water could have been cleaner of algae, but overall, it was perfectly nice. Since we booked all inclusive, we got to try a couple of the restaurants at the hotel. We loved Claraboya and Mexico Lindo, where the food was truly delicious, but were not really crazy about the Albatros. This last one is the only one that does not require reservations and appeared to be extremely popular with the other guests, but we found the food really bland and tasteless. When we asked why there are no bold flavours that one normally associates with the Mexican cuisine, our server replied that it was because most tourists shy away from spicy food, so the hotel food is made with such concerns in mind. I guess that explains it, so if you are not afraid of spice, you better avoid Albatros altogether. Speaking of restaurants, the reservation system seemed a little useless and unnecessary. In order to eat at one of the three restaurants at Barcelo Costa Cancun that require reservations, you had to make those reservations in the morning of the day in question. You missed that for whatever reason (in our case, we were always in a rush to leave on very early trips), you were left with the Albatros, even though the other restaurants were by no means full. In fact, they had only a few tables reserved. Finally, we were deeply impressed by the personnel working at Barcelo. From the very nice ladies at the reception, to the bartenders, the ladies cleaning our room, the porters and the waiters, each and every member of the staff has been incredibly attentive, personable and helpful towards us. These people are the ones that actually make Barcelo Costa Cancun function smoothly every day and that make people like us feel welcomed and taken care of. I hope that their employers appreciate their hard work as much as we did.
