Beautiful and clean resort! The people of the resort were very nice and willing to help at any time. We really enjoyed our stay there. The only negative point: the food. But we understand that it was a difficult time for Cuba then.

Buffet peu varié et pas très bon dans son entier. Vous devrez manger à l extérieur pour bien manger de temps en temps. Je ne recommanderais jamais cet hôtel. Belle plage , gens sympatique, pietre qualité des chambres et matelas de 1980.

The wait time to ge the food was ridiculous. The view from the superior room was awesome. The beach was incredible . The entertainment could be improve. The food was good . The location was far away from where i wanted to go

I like the staff very much cubans are always happy! Tourist Yell at them a lot but the conditions are not the staffs fauld and they shouldn,t take there anger out on them and if they yelled back they would lose their job very sad to witness behavior from people who don,t understand the living conditions of the people or the country. The hotel was full lots of people mostly Russians.They seem to be very loud and fight at lot it was funny but a lot of people fear them me too! I know they were not coming to Cuba a lot and for 3-4 years they where not seen so their economy must be doing very well! The meals where extremely very poor same slop every day morning and night this is the worst yet! I have travelled to Cuba since 1995 and usually 3 to 4 times a year! I go to restaurants. There was a beach towel and room towel problem and it must have been a broken machine where they are cleaned! There was a seat shortage on the beach and the blue material was black mold?I do not get angry it is not the staffs falt !! There is a shortage of products and food this is hurting the Cuban people very much No cooking oil bread dish soap and laundry soap.Gas also for cars and stoves! among other things. I do not blame the people but the powers to be! The problems have been going on through out their history since Columbus.I love Cuba very much the people and will continue to go believing maybe some of what I pay go to the citizens ?? I trust this note will not show up in Cuban hands as they question all the Cuban stamps in my passport it,s only 2 years old but it,s a 10 year maybe I,ll put it in the washing machine.

The room that we got was not that great but other amenities such as beach bar and pool bar and pool were great. The food in the buffet was poor in terms of service, there was not enough plates cups and spoons, hygiene was not good, it was stinking at times. However, the over all trip was great in terms of providing info for excursions, bus to airport and other venues, pick up and drop of was on time.

FELICIA This is my second time in Cuba, my first was Cayo coco. For this time, I thought choosing Varadero, would be a good opportunity to see Havana. However, here what happened: When we got at villa Tortuga, they tried to shovel at us a stinky room, which had: 1)ceiling was coming apart, including leaking 2)AC broken 3)back door broken, not closing 4)beds dirty 5)door to room, barely opened 6)lights not working 7)mould smell Here is the thing, when we got into the room, my daughters, already knowing how the hotel we stayed in Cayo Coco was, looked at me with the utmost frustration face, refusing to sleep in those beds which were dirty. Not even telling, how much complaint, I had to hear from them for next few minutes… I immediately complaint with front desk. They said would send someone right way to fix the AC, and the door. But given another room was impossible because the hotel was full. Actually, the service man, show up right away, went to bedroom with us, stuck a screw driver into the AC, which started working, but at temperature of 24 degrees, which obviously wouldn’t work since 24 still hot. I asked him to lower the temp, he said he didn’t have any way to do so. For the remaining, not even took a look. I went down again and complaint, then suddenly, surprise…a room was available, ….which was what I was expecting. They also charge to use the safe, better saying, to lend the key to use the safe, which previously I didn’t have to pay anything at Playa Coco. Just absurd… At the same time, other guests, who just arrived, also came down to complaint. 3 of them I spoke, they told me, even parts of wall inside the washroom was missing. I feel frustrated/cheated/missleaded with not only TRIP CENTRAL but also with AIR TRANSAT, which are offering “DEALS”, to what, should be a relaxed and enjoyable vacation, but in truth, this almost became a real nightmare for myself and my daughters. Not only TRIP CENTRAL but also AIR TRANSAT, should take care at the point to advise customers what kind of conditions we should expect, or tell these types of hotels, that, we are not animals and we are expecting, at minimum of decency for any room they offer. Once we are already in foreign soil, how TRIP CENTRAL AND OR AIR TRANSAT, expect any customer to complaint and go around this situation? I paid this trip 45 days prior of departure, not knowing what, or having any advice for any of these parties, which kind of hotel villa Tortuga was, which clearly isn’t a good one, ever!!! Moreover, every hotel in Cuba, provides beach towels. At villa Tortuga, I asked the pool house, every single day, in the morning, the answer was always the same: “not available”, however, I found out, they were using the beach towels, for regular rooms, since, I saw myself, some guests, who came later than us, using, long and good beach towels, the same as any other hotel provides. The food unfortunately did not have as much variety as Playa Coco hotel had, or at least tasty as I experimented before, although, we had to eat what was there. No beach bar with curb appeal, no attractions for kids, like we’ve seen before…anyways…overall, no good. And the last thing is only about Air Transat. I registered my kids to kids club, supposedly they were about to get some perks, including passes, which all other kids in the same flight had, but for my kids, the package only arrived after we left to Cuba…wow !, what efficiency!... That Felicia, was my experience in Villa Tortuga…

The hotel looked very nice and well kepted when we first arrived, but when we got our room, it was so dirty, smelled musty, th bed covers were all stained, mirrors had never beened washed! Very disappointing 3 stars hotel! Smelled cigar and cigarette smoke in every room. Bathroom so dirty they never washed the room with any cleaning product what so ever during the whole week! We had a mini fridge and not once did we get spring water during our whole stay! The food was ok but always the same stews, and line ups all the time, always running out of dessert, napkins, spoons, juice, ect..... the drinks were the cheapest ever, and the staff was not so bad in general, and the pool was beautiful and clean, but the animation was very lame!

Most of the staff were good. The first room I was given was already registered to a male. Told the front desk and they said it was ok to stay, I told them I want another room. Got the second room and was bitten by many many bugs. Finally got a room the last night before I was leaving and the key card wasn’t registered to that room and the door wouldn’t unlock. Constantly had to go to the front or jump up the balcony with my 3 year old to get into our room. Definitely won’t go back to that resort. The first time 2 years ago was at least a 7. Now it’s not even a 1

Going to go back, spotless grounds and pool, room were clean , food no issues , We thoroughly enjoyed 2 weeks , our room overlooked the pool, no mold or bugs in the room, close to all markets and attractions

I didn't want to go to a large hotel, wanted to be in a walk up, a smalish resort. Well, I had to move room three times. The first room had no toilette seat, no working tv and no hot water. The second room had a bed with three legs(!), a broken shower and no working tv. Finally! the third room had a comfy bed, tv, a great rain shower, hot water. The food is...well, it is Cuba. The grounds are well kept, clean, the pool area is nice. Each step is of a different hight and because of that I injured myself and had to call on the miserable nurse for some antiseptic. The people working in the hotel are nice, at least most of them. You get what you pay for, at least here it applies.

The room we had was in need of repair ,the beds were hard but the pillows were great it was quiet ,and for the most part the cleaning service was good ,the beach was amazing the entertainment was fantastic and air transat was awesome we very much enjoyed our stay

We went to villa tortuga for spring break with our daughter.We had a great time.The beach was beautiful,the staff was very friendly the buffet was always full of fresh fruit and vegetables and grilling everyday.The grounds were well kept.The only thing is we didn’t get fresh towels in our room everyday but we didn’t mind.Our beds were super confortable and clean.We would go back!!

The resort is beautiful. The employees are nice and friendly. I didn't like that in order to reserve a chair at the beach or at the pool you literally had to wake up at 4am. For my husband and I, it was impossible, we have a 6 months old baby. If you wake up at 7 or 8 am too bad for you there were no more chairs left anywhere. Some people used to wake up at 3 am and reserved 20 chairs for their families and friends then there were none left for other. The staff did not intervene in that aspect. We were placed on the third floor with no elevator, so to bring all the suitcases, the baby stuff, the stroller, it was not easy and the same when we went outside during the day carrying the baby bag, the beach bag, the stroller up and down. The hotel is supposed to be kids-friendly but there were no changing table anywhere, we either had to go back to our hotel room to change her diaper or change her directly on her stroller.

The staff was amazing and friendly and went out of there way to help. The grounds and rooms were very clean. The buffet was terrible ate outside the hotel tried one meal was very bad it is a closed room with no air and flies all over the food and restaurant not much of a selection at all. If you are staying here must upgrade to superior which is like a normal room most of the rooms the a/c does not work,no hot water most rooms have a safe but no doors. The good thing is this hotel is close to many restaurants.

We got there and they did not have our reservation. I had paid for a superior room with balcony and after a 4.5 hour wait, they put us in a really dirty old room with no balcony. I asked to be moved, so they put us in another older room, but this one had a balcony. There was no door on the safe so we could not lock up our money or passports. Everything was breaking. We ended up in a superior room after four days, and my complaining. That room was good. Food was not good at all - hardly edible, so we dined out every night. Beach chairs were broken and dirty. Staff was very nice though - they did what they could to help people. I heard a whole lot of other guests complaining about their rooms when at the front desk. Would not recommend and would not stay here again.

Nice resort ..friendly staff..had a hot water issue..mention problems they do take care of them right away...no bottled water but they will refill for you...pool was cold...a la cart was excellent..the grounds are kept clean

Stayed at Villa Tortuga for my first time in Cuba. Rooms were clean and the staff was accommodating and friendly. Food was edible. The villa grounds were well kept and the drinks were great. I would stay here again for the price I paid.

This is a 3* hotel but huge difference from my usual 3.5* in Holguin. The good: good location walking distance to downtown Varadero nice beach but red-flagged all week superior room lots of loungers always room towels and toilet paper resort grounds and rooms were clean The resort cats and dogs - very friendly and well taken care of bacon at breakfast The not so good: standard rooms - heard many complaints 24 hr. lobby bar but no beer after 11:00 pm snacks almost non-existent no beach towels for days (send them out for cleaning) constantly out of Wifi cards, mint for mojitos, no tonic water vodka tasting like rubbing alcohol buffet food constantly cold, no glasses, mugs in buffet patchy hot water You get what you pay for at this resort. We paid $629 for the superior room Jan. 13-20. Some tips: Omelette station for eggs in am - buffet scrambled eggs are awful Grill in buffet at lunch and dinner Try the Cuban staples at the buffet - rice and beans, yucca, plaintain, sweet potatoes as these are the best foods microwave in buffet to heat buffet items, coffee machine in buffet but coffee was okay bring insulated mug for drinks buy Wifi cards at bar next door if they run out but $2 CUCS rather than $1 CUC Ala carte was okay - but ask waitress for recommendation - we had the pork which was good Go out for dinner in Varadero - it is cheap Have dinner cooked by a local - we had lobster twice $15 CUC Bring your own beach towel Staff were overall okay - some friendlier than others. Bartenders were good. The staff really appreciate a little spanish - hola, como esta? Beatles Bar at Calle 57 is fun - bands practice in afternoon around 4:00 - mojitos and snacks there are great and cheap - around $3 CUC each only wine at dinner/lunch - it was okay. Wine can be purchased in store at resort for $6 CUC. Frontera merlot and Sauvingon Blanc are okay. No pepper in buffet, salt is scarce. Generally expect the basics but not the frills.

Villa Tortuga staff is friendly and very hard working, close to town, lots to see and do, beach is amazing, pool clean, public bathrooms usually clean but sometimes out of paper. Lots of seating at beach and pool, grounds well kept and piggy tourists were cleaned up after constantly. room towels tiny, newer rooms were decent, older rooms smelled of mold, sheets too small for bed, beds were mattress bowls. Our blankets and bed covers were not cleaned between guests, but sheets were. This may have been an oversight as we asked for a room change. A lot of feral cats and dogs. Dogs howl and bark much every night which wakes you up. Septic smells were frequent assailants during walks. Also the entertainment was loud. Announce the event and then have it. Using the loudspeakers during activities took away from relaxation of other guests. "you don't go to Cuba for the food" a toast at meal time the first visit there in 2007 which we continue each time we are there. It is plentiful, bland, and the same. Although asparagus and shrimp were served occasionally, hot vegetables once in a while but plenty of salad, and pasta. Food choices for a Celiac are minimal as many meat and salad offerings were served in a sauce. Villa Tortuga does not have a toaster so bread toasting on the grill deny you even that option, beans and rice were a staple but I do not eat crustaceans (bottom dwellers) so when the rice option was mixed with bits of them that limited meals further. Forget about desserts but you will not starve. They do not serve fries at the snack bar :( Food is brought over from the kitchen.

I booked this trip last minute and got a great deal on it. I called in to trip central and spoke to an advisor (Kim) she was able to save me even more after making some suggestions. the Hotel has a nice location beach acces was great! i was there from Dec.29th to JAn 5th. so spent my new years at the hotel. I had a great experience but i did hear from some people complaining about not having hot water. but i had hot water the whole time.. the staff was super freindly i met some great people and made really good new freinds.. food never the greatest in cuba so i hit the snack bar for Ham n Cheese sandwiches and hot dogs.. Resturant just off the resort called KiKi is very good fare prices and pretty good food. Pizza/Pasta. etc. over all a great experience. jus have an open mind it is a 3rd world country and nothing compare to what we have here.. we are so spoiled and super fortunate here in canada. Safe travels!

My daughter and I stayed at this resort for a week and had a wonderful experience. As usual, the rooms were clean, the people were friendly, the beaches were beautiful and the food was predictable. With buffet there is always something that is enjoyable. We clearly don’t go to Cuba for the cuisine; the overall experience of Cuba and this hotel was wonderful. We’d definitely again.

The resort itself is a nice size. Good location, good beach, pool, friendly. Standard room was sub-par compared to other three stars. Rooms need total updating. Problems with door, bed, was room, etc. Compared to other 3 star properties would rate the food as a 2 star hotel. Public washrooms dirty and not functioning.

The hotel was what it was stated to be, a 3 star. The grounds were lovely, grounds people trying to maintain it. The rooms within the hotel were clean and acceptable, not fancy. No bathtub, just a shower. One complaint is that the public washrooms always seemed to run out of toilet paper, so I would advise to bring your own. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous and drinks were plentiful. The food was also acceptable, not gourmet, but not garbage either. Lots of salad items, lots of pasta and bread, usually fish and one other meat. Hotel accomodations were good if you were looking to get away and not spend a boatload of money.

I think the hotel was nicely set up, big pool, multiple bars across the resort and everything is within a short walk. The rooms were simple but decent, nothing special but also not a problem since you don't spend much time in the room anyway, you get what you pay for. Overall, good experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a minimal cost trip.

This is an older hotel and needs some repairs, our door was almost falling off its hinges and we had a problem with bugs. The grounds were very well kept and the beach was amazing! Most of the staff were very friendly except for one bartender and one of the women on the front desk. No issues with the food, plentiful and good. As always in Cuba there is a shortage of toilet paper so bring lots. Not likely to return to this resort but would go back to Cuba.

The location of this hotel was great, you could walk into town and the staff were great. When we arrived we noticed that they were putting new beds in the room which was great. Although our room was in a good location it was very small you had to move the bed to get into the closet. There was no phone and no safe even though it was listed on hotel information. When I went up to the desk to ask about this there was many people arguing about their rooms. When it was finally my turn they said I would have to change rooms to get a safe and a phone but there was none available check back tomorrow. We decided not to bother we would just keep our room it was not worth the hassle. I enjoy Cuban food but the food here was horrible. You would see the same food every night and also for lunch. The dining room was not air conditioned, there was no fans and most of the time the door was closed , so it was to hot. When you walked out of the dining room it felt lie you were walking into air conditioning outside

My boyfriend and I stayed here December 21-28. We booked the day before we left, so we took what we could get. We got a good deal, and we took it, leaving with open minds. The hotel is walks from downtown Varadero, so you are close to nightlife, restaurants and a market. I loved this! We were checked in quickly. Our bus ride was a short 25 mins from the airport (via bus). Our room was very musty and damp. We don't spend much time in the room anyways so we were fine for the first 3 nights, after which our bed began feeling damp and it was hard to sleep. Asked to change rooms and they said we couldn't because the hotel was full. We met many people during our vacation and everyone else said there rooms weren't bad. So do not stay in 6201!! Beware... The pool was clean and surprisingly warm, always lots of chairs! Decent entertainment/games during the day, including volleyball and daily salsa lessons. There's also life size chess, tennis, pool table, fitness centre, snorkelling, pedal boats, catamaran rides and more. Always something to do! The snack bar was decent. Open 10am-6pm, offered cheese and meat sandwiches, hot dogs and pizza. Everything was hot and tasty. The lobby bar is open 24hrs but does not offer beer. The bar near the pool offers basic drinks... Pina coladas, rum and coke, beer. They will not make fancy drinks or vodka/tequila drinks! I had to twist an arm to get 2 mojitos, they quickly "ran out of mint" though. The beach bar offers the best pina coladas! It is closed at 4pm daily. The beach is a public beach, so there is some littering on the sand. Regardless the beach is beautiful!! It is approx 30km long, you can walk forever! White sand, warm turquoise water! I couldn't believe the warmth. High waves which were fun for swimming!! Water is sand... No coral, no rocks! It's lovely to walk in! The buffet offered a large variety and the food was good, especially for being Cuba. They always had cucumbers, tomatos, lettuce and cold salads, cheese and cold cut selections, buffet of fresh fruit, rice, pasta and sauce, fish, chicken, pork, a specialty on the grill, beans, potatoes, cooked vegetables and more. Like most resorts, the food is repetitive and gets boring. Breakfast had the most selection and different stuff everyday. Service in the buffet was poor. There is only one a la carte on the resort, called neptuno. The food was very good, as was the service! The towel service woman were my favourite, always bright and happy to see us. Although, they almost never had clean, dry towels, they would say the truck didn't drop off more today. The beach towels are 1 per person, you get a voucher and have to keep the towel. Do not lose or they will charge $20 a towel! It's worth bringing your own! I wish I would have... Also the safe in the room is $2 a day. If you lose your room key it's a $15 fine as well. Just a few things to know. The entertainment was the best I have seen, dancing, singing, rock n roll, magic shows! It was excellent, also good music always playing. Overall we had a great vacation, I would not go back, but I would recommend for laid back, easy going people who are looking for a relaxing vacations and have realistic expectations for Cuba. They do need to improve and update the rooms. Other things I think they need are... A wet pool bar, another a la carte, more selection at the snack bar, and a disco. If they got those things I would come back, and I think they could be a 4 star hotel. This hotel is a good value.

I really enjoyed my stay here I went for 7 nights and got a standered room not bad ( only problem is the balcony door didn't lock ) the staff are beyond wecolming and try to make you feel as welcomed as possible very surprised at how good most of there English was! The pool was bigger then I thought it would be and it was never to busy always able to find a spot and swim with not many people in the water. Very nice how you could just walk onto the beach! Very clean and well takin care of. The food could be improved I think that would be one of my only complaints but I've been to Cuba 4 times and the food is always the same. I would highly recommend this resort for the price and the stay! It is well worth your money

Don't waist any money on this hotel, the food is just plain horrible....my son and myself got sick big time.....also the cleaning in the hotel is crap.. mosquitos are every where even inside of the rooms, ....people are nice and friendly but the food and service in the buffet is just a nightmare...I ask my airtransat representative to change my hotel since I was expecting something way better, he just laughed at my face and tell me that this was the best hotel of all Grand Caribe Hotels ....what a waist of money and time....the worse thing is that I still sick with diarrhea and stomach pain ....water in the hotel lobby and bars stands is Cuban water -Untreated water BEWARE....!

Been to many resorts in Cuba and never have high expectations. Chose this resort due to tripadvisors recent good reviews. Food was horrendous! I don't like rice but ate it everyday as it was probably the best and safest option. Some of the dessert was ok but that's it. Most of the staff were rude. In fact one security guard was very inappropriate making lewd comments towards my friend and I as well as my sister! He should be fired. Only 3 or 4 were pleasant out of their entire staff. The rest looked at you as an inconvenience. Brought lots of money to tip and presents for the staff. I gave nice gifts everyday to our maid and tipped who deserved it. I gave the rest of everything else to a very deserving woman and her children I met outside of the resort on my last night. The Beach was nice but hardly any lounge chairs and people were so rude taking 4 chairs to themselves...2 under a palapa and 2 in the sun. Really people? Are you that lazy that you can't drag your lounge chai 5 feet? People would put there towels on a chair and not be there sometimes all day long! So rude. The rooms looked like something out of Cold War Russia. A few cockroaches in the room and animals in the celling. Good A/C until it broke. The front desk was great and had it fixed within 20 min. I have to give them that. Would I go again? Nope. Go to Roc Arenas Doradas, Trip or Melia properties.

The resort itself is small and easy to get around however, it is not what I had expected. The room I had was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable and the air conditioning didn't work well through the night which is basically when you're in your room. When I first used the shower, a leech also was trying to have one.....I don't know who was more shocked! I just took the shower head and washed him down the drain.....not a good start. The food was OK although very much the same for lunch and dinner. When on "vacation" you don't want to have to wake up really early however unless I did, I would never have gotten a beach lounger. I was up at 6:30 every morning and when getting to the beach, all the better lounge chairs were already taken by people saving them with their beach towels! The same thing goes for the pool loungers. Some people took a lounger for the sun and one under a pallapa.....not fair but what are you going to do. It was very handy to the Varadero strip where you could either walk it or take the double decker bus for 5 pesos hop on hop off all day. For the most part it was OK but not a hotel I'll return to.

The rooms weren't the best there were cockroaches, at night the sewer would back up at time and stink out the room, when you walked by the pool area all you smelt was sewer, the beach was nice if you got their night and early to get a beach chair....very hard to get a chair of you not there at 7am, the food was disgusting the first two days than it got a little better but still not great, was good being so close to downtown varadero got to see a lot of the way they live, the staff were ok but in all honesty the atmosphere of the whole resort they seemed "snobby" like they were watching your every mood, felt very out of place at times I could go on and on but I'd write a novel just thought I'd give the low down

The food seems to be the same day after day, don't get me wrong it's good food just would be better if they could change it up. The hotel it's self is a nice resort however the pool has been changed from the photos & I think it looked better before. I found we made some amazing friends with some of the staff who made you feel special. This wasn't my first trip to Cuba but it was my girlfriend's first time and by the time we had to leave she was looking forward to our next trip back to Cuba.

The place was very nice and relaxing. No big crowds not to much partying. We stayed in a bungalow and the view was awesome. The grounds are very well maintained and the view was fantastic. The food was ok almost the same thing everyday. The alacart was very good. We had a very relaxing awesome stay.

The rooms are weak (tired and worn, mildew etc ), but that was the only dissapointing feature of the resort. The restaurant and bars were adequate, the pool was beautiful and clean, and the beach is simply gorgeous. It is an easy walk to the restaurants and shops in town. The staff were kind and friendly.

This trip was the first experience for my girlfriend and I in Cuba and we absolutely loved it. As soon as we arrived in the resort, we were taken aback by how nice the lobby looked, and how friendly the staff was to help everyone who was arriving around 11:30 at night. The layout of the buildings and rooms was very cool, and gave the resort a really tropical feel. The facilities were also very clean. One of the best parts of our entire trip was actually one of the bartenders named Basulto, who always made us feel welcome and seemed to be a favourite of almost every person at the hotel. The beach was great, and the water was absolutely amazing, in both the ocean and the pool. Our only complaint about the entire trip would have been that the food wasn't the greatest, but it truly didn't have any big impact on our trip, as we had a fantastic experience at Villa Tortuga.

The resort employee's were friendly, helpful & most spoke a little English!!! For the most part the resort is well kept even though it is older... The food @ the buffet was the same everyday & for the most part very bland, by the time you serve yourself & find a place to sit your food was cold unless you went to the chef that was cooking!!!

The location, layou,t entertainment, rooms, games, be,ach,beer sun, rum are all great.but ...food sucks! dinner is served at 7 which is too late for us we ate out at local restaurants are reasonable and close to this resort

The hotel will be renovated this summer but it needs lots of work/TLC. Everything is old: bed, furniture, fixtures, bedding, bathroom etc. The food was tolerable, we all found something to fill us up. Brought my own peanut butter so that was perfect for breakfast each morning...bread is good. The beach was great for the boys playing football, water was warm and wonderful. For $600 each all inclusive I got what I paid for.

The hotel was old, room had mould growing up the wall. We had to pay extra for a safe, and if you lost the beach towel you were expected to pay 20 cuc. Very limited selection of drinks at 24 hour bar. There was never any toilet paper in the bathrooms and the toilets didn't have seats! The staff were friendly for the most part except when we had an issue. The wait staff were nice but more concerned with clearing the table then refilling my wine glass, the food was good for the most part, they had salt and pepper and sugar. The only redeeming quality was the beautiful beach! Thank God for that!

been to cuba 12 times ,different hotels,always expect the worst,this was 2nd best hotel so far and it was only 3 star,maybe they stepping up their game now that the americans coming,had no issues,clean common area washrooms with tp etc..food not too bad ,service not too bad never tipped only at end of trip so yeah would recommend

The facility is a bit old but kept well and clean, nice beach area, the food is abundant and okay if you are not picky eater, great place for doing nothing and relax, located at end of the street,you can walk to some flea market.

ok so we loved the time we spent there, some little quirks such as fixing the toilet with black tape so it would flush, but who cares it was clean, comfy and no bugs!Hot and sunny everyday food was decent, and people where friendly, enjoyed myself, the beach is beautiful, we got what we paid for:)

Villa Tortuga more than met my expectations for a 3-star in Cuba. I didn't quite know what to expect regarding the food/hot water/presence of toilet paper/towels, but was pleasantly surprised in all regards. The beach is gorgeous, the rooms are basic but very clean, the people were helpful and friendly (especially if you take the time to actually talk to them) and the food was WAY better than I feared it might be. Granted, if you're a very fussy eater, you might be in trouble, but that's true anywhere in Cuba. A couple of pieces of advice: 1. Try to get switched to a standard room on a top floor - the lower floors have a bit of a musty smell. 2. Bring a facecloth - we had lots of towels, but... 3. Book the a la carte restaurant - we went there twice and both menus were good. 4. Day trip to Havana was great through Air Transat. Awesome guide! I also loved the size of the resort - nothing is more than a minute or two away from your room, including the beach!!

the room we had smelled of the sewar and urine..fortunately everything in the room worked fine. The staff were friendly. Food was poor. Close to the beach. and close to the town. used the bicycles, tennis courts, ping pong, and the gym. also used the kayaks.

Good food, good service, good drinks, nice beaches. Food was good. Rooms dated but clean. Staff great. Entertainment was great. Good hotel for budget minded people. We changed three rooms to find an acceptable one.

The resort was very well maintained, clean, public bathrooms were always kept clean, the pool was awesome, our rooms were standard rooms which were fine, spacious and clean. The staff were amazing. Of course the Beach Wow Wow Wow location was awesome close to town.

Let me begin by say Villa Tortuga is a wonderful place to go! Knowing that this is Cuba you must lower your expectations. Bellow are Cons & Pros. Pros: Very clean grounds, they try their very best to accommodate you, pool was very clean and had nice Spanish music playing at all times. The beach was beautiful and cannot ask for a clearer/warmer water. Varadero town is a must go! only 10 minutes walk from the resort. You can rent scooters and bicycles from the resort. Staff was very nice at all times (they work hard so please tip). Also ask for a fridge in the room (helps keep your water cool). Buy the 5cuc tour bus which allows you to hop on hop off and travels all along the Varadero main street. The street is very safe even during the night!. If you like sea food go to Varadero 60! for really good lobster. The buffet was (as expect for Cuba) and the a la cartes were pretty good. Cons: The rooms are clean but bugs still do get in so make sure you check your room before accepting it. Never stay on the ground floor (you will get eaten by miskitos). Make sure the A.C works because it is an older hotel but they will have no problem changing your room. Do not exchange money at the hotel walk to the bank in the town. Not much verity during breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet but you will eat well. Overall the Pros out-way the cons and I would stay at Villa Tortuga again! I do recommended it for anyone who is on a budget as it is worth every single $.

The hotel overall was okay. The location was great very close to the ocean however service and rooms weren't good. Our rooms toilet, shower and back door was broken and never got fixed. The food wasn't great but that's expected its Cuba. You get what you pay for!

We took a recent family vacation to Villa Tortuga. We had a great time. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. Although the resort could use some cosmetic upgrades, it suited us just fine. Great value and beautiful beach!
