The hotel as usual was immaculate. The food wasn’t plentiful but we ate well and never went hungry. Those expecting Canadian cuisine go elsewhere. The grounds are well manicured and everywhere there are workers making it beautiful. Lots of hot water for showers, lots of bottled water for drinking. Staff is so very friendly everywhere at Brisa’s. There was a lack of liqueurs and mix, sometimes vodka. That’s out of their hands. Safe to go off site anywhere in the town. Love it.

Brisas Guardalavacca Many good memories here!! December 2025 was my 7th time So many things l love about this resort. It needs some renovations and fixing but for the most part the people working here are all lovely. All it takes is a little personal interest and they will do their best to serve and help you. It’s nice to have the choice of the activities, music and snack bar on one side of the beach, where the hotel is facing, and if you’re like me l chose the Villa side which allowed me to enjoy the sounds of nature. This resort has many features l like but it surely needs the bathrooms renovated both in the hotel and in the villas. I will go back and recommend it to my friends.

Love this resort. Agreed it is not a 5* but it is homey with most personable staff there is. Rooms are clean and well cared for. Whenever I have had an housekeeping issue it was corrected in a timely manner. If you are a foody Cuba may not be for you. Having said that the food is good and well prepared. The bread is the best. If you are celebrating a special life moment the staff does everything they can to make magic happen. The birds sing, the sun shines, the water welcomes and your safety is at the top of the list.

Just returned after a beautiful week of Sun and limited rain. Our ocean view room was dated but clean, the bed was very comfortable and our maid was outstanding. The staff go above and beyond, I found them to be very friendly and helpful. The food was a bit challenging but the drinks at the lobby bar were very good. It was our first time staying at this hotel, I did find that there were a lot of stairs, if you're not mobile they could be an issue. Otherwise all in all had a nice visit.

I recently stayed at the beautiful Brisas Hotel in Cuba with my family. The hotel itself is lovely, and overall, we had a wonderful experience together. The staff were welcoming, and the surroundings could have been perfect for a relaxing family getaway. Unfortunately, there was one major issue that completely changed our experience and is the reason we would not return. The beach area, which should be for guests, was overrun by locals who occupied most of the hotel’s lounge chairs as if they were paying guests. This alone made it very difficult for us to enjoy the beachfront. What made things worse was the amount of garbage left behind—beer cans scattered everywhere, even floating in the ocean. My kids ended up collecting more than 200 cans from the water, which was both sad and frustrating to see in such a beautiful place. On top of that, we witnessed highly inappropriate behavior, including people washing themselves and even using the ocean as a bathroom. While the hotel itself was nice, the beach situation was so uncomfortable and disappointing that we would not come back. I truly hope the management addresses this issue, because the location has so much potential to be an amazing family destination.

The resort staff trying their best. Unfortunately, there is not much to offer. The rooms are OK. The food is fair. The only problem there are many Cubans and they trying to get all the food they can. They cut in line and disrespect other people. Cuba is the place we go for beaches. Not this time. We were ther last year in March and came back cause we liked it. Now it was terrible. Locals occupied the beach taking over beach beds and shades. There are so many of them that there were no place to swim. The water is full of beer cans, glass and plastic rum bottles, mango peel, and mango seeds. There are millions of locals and no washrooms beside, so guess what??? They would do number two right in the water. Here.....it floats!!! We talked to managers, but they told us that beaches in Cuba are public and everyone is allowed. That was the first time we couldn't wait to leave, and we've been in Cuba 40+ times.

We went to the resort in August. It is full of Cubans. They are very loud and sometimes disrespectful. In the buffet they grab a lot of food and stack it into their bags. However, this is a least of a problem. All the beaches in Cuba are public, so...the resort allows locals on the beach. They take it over!!! It becomes loude, busy and very dirty. The amount of beer cans in the water and on the beach is awful. They eat mangoes in the water ans spit it . It was disgusting to step on it in the water. And cherry on top was when the poop was floating, few times. Conversations with hotel management did not help. They said that locals were not allowed to sit on the beach beds, but in the evening they occupied all of them. They come with canisters of beer, soups, and so on. I understand everybody needs a beach, but please don't make it a dumpster.

I really enjoyed my vacation in the sunshine and beach and everything was great and awesome ?️?I wish to be there with my friends and family again in the winter time and we will have a wonderful time together

We will never return to this hotel and never recommend it. We stayed at this resort years ago and returned because the price was right. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. Management does nothing to address anything, it is blatantly obvious they do not care!

This Hotel is definitely needing HELP Lost my Mother and needed stress free environment Recommended by 2 Friends peach and quite Late arrival went to the snack bar very hungry On the board Hamburg Ham and Cheese Sandwich(Balgonie) Pizza and deep fried banana chips Ordered Pizza told no don't have why on board? Hamburg looked horrible ordered Ham and Cheese could not eat balgonie So my dinner was 1 bun nothing on it Hotel knows late arrivals daily would you not think they could offer something better??? Check into room, told gardview was very late didn't open curtains 2 single beds for 2 adults check in???? Dirt/fur behind the TV disgusting Open curtains in morning to our garden view!!!!!!!!! Tile roof is all we could see Front desk to change rooms in am 1 bed 1 clean room with a gardview This room 1 bed cleaner but our garden view was the front entrance Go back to front desk yet again can't change room until Monday and wanted 80.00 to change yet again Needless to say Customer Service now got involved 3rd was better and no charge Snack bar????? depending on who was working we could take our pizza to the pool and then 2 days in a row we where told NO I left my pizza on the table walked out Bar beside Snack bar NO VODKA!!!!!!!! are you kidding me??????? Next day went to store and bought mine own absolutely ridiculous. I am a heart patience on several meds to be told that I am only allowed 1 bottle of water a day????? No face clothes or bath mats are provided in rooms These things should be on the website when booking this Hotel as I am sure other guests would like to know what is LACKING there!!!!!!! I think management really need to rethink what is happening on this resort. I will never stay there again!!!!!! Our maid was the best thing about my experience. Dianne

Brisas Guardalavacca A beach hotel where memories are made and friends remember you. They do their best Grounds are well kept. Food was good but lm not a hamburger and fries person I like a variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits. I was happy with the choices l had. I will go back because l feel comfortable there. Attitude is everything in life so with a positive and friendly attitude you will have a very enjoyable holiday there.

My husband and I had a great time at this hotel. Food was plentiful, lots to choose from. Grounds and hotel clean and kept up. Staff friendly and happy to help you. Will definitely be going back next year.

The Brisas was very welcoming. The Staff were friendly and smiling. Our room was good and tidied every day. The food was okay, but the same every where we ate except the snack bar. I do wish as a VIP we were a little more informed of activities and events we were to enjoy as we missed a few of them.

A very spacious and comfortable 'villa' in the more quiet area of the complex. Awesome beach. Fair food at the buffet and great dining at the a'lacartes. Very friendly staff. We met many folks from Canada that have been back up to 25, 34, and 42 times!! Entertainment was a bit below Cuban standards but OK. Pools and bars were great. Hot water was a bit scarce. Extremely great value for the budget minded. We would definitely return.

I had a fantastic stay! The room was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the spa services. We loved everything!; I highly recommend for its cozy rooms, friendly staff, serene atmosphere and customer service. A big thumbs up!

This is our 5th time staying at this resort. We usually stay in the villas but this time we decided to stay in the hotel section. We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were spacious. Nice water view with balcony. Keep in mind this resort celebrated 30 years and some things need to be fixed but over all it was nice. Now for the people that say that the hotel section is noisy sure during the day there is lots of things going on. Music, activities. At night usually by 11 o’clockit is quiet. If you prefer tranquility maybe stay in the villa section. Now for the food , let me remind you that you are in Cuba buuttt you will not go hungry. They had eggs, omelettes, meat, fruits etc.Supper there was always chicken, lamb, pork. Pasta and stir fry, deserts and chocolate ice cream. At the snack bar pizza, sandwiches and hamburgers. They had plenty of red and white wine, cola , juice and alcohol. Overall it was great. Yes we would go again because the staff is amazing and they work really hard to make you feel welcome and appreciated.

First you need to remember it is Cuba...you go for the sun and the wonderful people. Food is available and so is water...there was very little entertainment due to lack of fuel for the vehicles to transport staff. Bring your own toilet paper...LOL Feel free to bring gifts for the Cuban people. They appreciate whatever you want to give them. They Love chocolate!

All the grounds and public areas were very well kept. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunatly only 2 of the 4 alacart restauarants were open at a time due to the lack of tourists. Travel agents should be recommending this resort.

This is a wonderful resort. would return tomorrow is possible. Staff goes out of their way to help. Always there for you. Things have changed over the years, but never a bad thing to say about anything. Staff try to do everything they can and make up for any short falls.

Everything was so close to our #5 villa section..The grounds are so well taken care of .Beach was beautiful sand was cleaned daily lots of seats n shade .Meals were plentiful enjoyed the a la carte , buffet was brimming lots of selections. Our room was very clean, water in room always had electricity and hot water ..looking forward to another trip... We had a problem with park n fly the discount Trip Central offered was invalid..I wrote to our agent but have not had a reply..

We stayed in the Villas. Room was clean but we had a sink leak in the bathroom and a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom. We did mention to someone about the ceiling leak but no one addressed it. We did tell the staff again when we checked out. Our housekeeper was amazing, we couldn't have asked for a better one! Hotel grounds were clean but there was a lack of toilet paper in the bathroom beside the bar. Staff were very friendly. Wish there was more fruit to choose from.

My 22nd trip to Brisa’s so it’s like going home. The staff is always wonderful, hotel always clean & shiny. The food isn’t quite as plentiful nor are the mixed drinks but that’s ok. The surroundings & friendliness make up for it all.

We came to Brisas Guardalavaca to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We got married there with 76 of our friends and family. We expected shortages, but not the cold-lukewarm showers and musty filtered bar water with no ability to purchase bottled water anywhere. The people were warm and friendly, but the hotel has not aged well. Most days there were no eggs after 8:30am and they are not making cappuccino from beans any longer; just using a machine with what looked like instant coffee. We don't go to Cuba for the food, and we never went hungry, but we couldn't get Mojitos, Pina Coladas, Dacquaris etc. Only the a la cartes ever had shrimp. The 24 hour snack bar wasn't. The only food in the tiendas was saltine crackers. The market near the resort had canned food for Cubans but no water, beer or snack food. The bar in the Villas section closed at 4:30pm and we couldn't get that clarified for almost a week. Several days there was no water at all in the room while they worked on the plumbing. On the plus side, we were able to go to four a la carte restaurants over two weeks and also had a romantic dinner on the beach to celebrate our 10th anniversary and those meals were great. We moved rooms after 4 days and the new room had a bit of an ocean view, although the 7:30am daily cement mixer outside our balcony was a bit of a distraction. The staff presented us with a beautiful tray of juice, fruit, cider and breakfast on our anniversary morning and decorated our room with towel art and flower petals. I enjoyed the trip, and I know Cuba is struggling, but I think we will choose another destination next year, perhaps going back to Cayo Largo if Sunwing starts flying out of Toronto again.

Third time visit, it will be the last. Music was way to loud, non stop plus the PA in-between. Food was fine, staff great. Definate isssues with arrival and departure times. Free bottle of rum no longer available, as bottled water every day in room.

I went with my friend for two weeks and we loved everything about the resort. The food was amazing. The beach was amazing. The staff was very polite and nice. The room was very clean I would recommend anyone that wants to go to Hogan to take this hotel. I will definitely go to this place next time. I will make sure I go one month.

We had a wonderful time at this resort. It was our first time. Our house keeper Inoralvis was fantastic. All the hardworking servers bartendes and staff in the kitchens. Carlos, Mario, Melissa, Osmund, Angel and many more. Were so welcoming. The staff that stood out for us at this place were the Gardeners. Roberto, Jorge and Junior. They were kind and generous, and went out of their way to make this trip wonderful. And of course a shout out to Madeline and Jose in public relations.., who made our last day even better. Thank you Brisas.

The hotel is excellent. Very enjoyable. Grounds are kept very clean. All workers are very helpful. Meals are not short of too much. Evening shows were all great. I would return soon! All other tourists and Cubans were very friendly. Canada Day was interesting.

We have been going to this Hotel for the past 10 years and have always thoroughly enjoyed the beach, staff and close proximity to everything. We have specifically enjoyed the talent. Cuba has amazing talent which we absolutely love the singers and instruments they play. Entertainment was lacking due to the lack of gas to get the performers to the hotel which was disappointing but can't be helped under the circumstances. I have to say this trip offered its usual amazing beach. Because of the time of year, there were very few Canadians with the majority being Cubans from within Cuba and Miami. Due to shortages, the food on the buffet was disappointing. The various restaurants were okay. They had lobster, lots of chicken legs, lamb which we don't usually eat but was really good, pork and some beef. We celebrated our 53rd anniversary and I have to say they outdid themselves in a fabulous dinner by the beach. Their dinner for returning guests was also amazing. We all know you don't go to Cuba for the food. We go for the fabulous beaches and the people. If you understand they are going through rough times and have no control over the shortages which impedes the quality of service, then enjoy. We had more than enough food and the necessities. Madelaine the Manager tried very hard to make our stay memorable and I thank her for all she did.

Hotel is ok, food is not, reception crew is super bad, room is not ventilated properly, mold is very bad, transfer bus experience is bad, driver would not help with taking out luggage at the airport, while they are asking for money ???

We have been coming here twice a year for many years and have made many friends with the staff and even some fellow guests. Each time we arrive we see familiar faces so it feels like home. The resort is very clean and of anything that is needed it is quickly rectified with a smile. The food is delicious and plentiful and we have never gone hungry.

Clean, super nice, make you feel welcomed! My 7th trip to this resort...i feel so comfortable there...small issue with hot water 2 days, no water 2 days, and no air conditioning 1 day. Older facilities But all in all excellent resort

Rooms were quite large. The security box did not work but repairs were made in one day. All the workers were very respectful and helpful. The hotel grounds are beautifully kept. Evening shows were excellent except for one rain-out. Most days there was great music outside the buffet. The specialty restaurants were very good. There was very seldom any lack of food...lots of selection and food. I would certainly return again.

I was at Brisas April 22 (2024). I was in the villa section and had a beautiful ocean view villa. The villa section is tranquil and has its own pool and is next to a beach front bistro serving breakfast and lunch. The hotel ocean views are above the pool. Even if you don’t have ocean view in your room or villa, you can see the ocean from almost anywhere in the resort. The beach is beautiful, and you can walk a couple of km - past the neighbouring club amigo and all the way down to the local market on it. Unless you are looking for a big hotel (this has about 400 occupancy if full) or must have a five star, this is a wonderful resort. I wholeheartedly recommend it. For families or people who want more action, I would choose the villa section - or especially a mini villa suite -for the little bit more they cost.

Brisas Guardalavaca never disappoints. The people are the very best, the beach is perfect and despite some negative reviews we’ve read recently we found the resort to be just as nice and inviting as always. The food is good, we prefer to eat at El Patio near the beach during the day as we love the view and table service. The pasta and stir fry stations in the buffet are nice as well as the fresh fish and chicken/ pork/beef daily. And the fresh breads and ice cream of course. We have been going to Brisas since 2008 and look forward to our next visit.

Cuba has beautiful beaches. Brisas has a beautiful beach close to the resort. Loved that about this resort. BUT this resort NEEDS some serious renos. Its as old as the hills. The FOOD was horrible. Same thing to eat day after day breakfast lunch and dinner. By the last day I barely ate anything. Not to mention that I have a food allergy GLUTEN ALLERGY. and was already limited to what I could eat. Plus the birds that were finding their way into the dining room were also helping themselves to the buffet. I have a problem with that for hygiene reasons. Plus people (tourists mostly Cubans that were there) were dropping the serving spoons on the ground from the buffet and putting the spoon back into the food tray. ???. That turned me right off. They were also constantly running out of food and alcohol selection. I will most likely not go back because of this. There is no accommodations for food allergies. The People of Cuba though are amazingly friendly. ?

we had some good food in the la carts. The buffet was just eatable. The food was never hot when it should be The staff caters to the return guests. We will take a break from Cuba The weather was one factor in not returning

The ground s were beautiful and well maintained Everything was kept very clean. The main dining room was large and well kept. There were other dining rooms and they were very nice. The food was not the greatest, but there was enough to choose from. There were times when some things were not available. Understandable because of energy shortages.

Cuba January 2024 Is I sit here in my warm bed I’m thinking ?. Going on my second week here. There are many shortages. Diet Coke. Cola. Sprite. White wine. Champagne, and even water at times. I started to fall into the typical tourist attitude. “The money we pay and there is nothing! Complaining ?. Again as I sit here in my warm bed, I’m thinking about the Cuban people that don’t have heat in their house on chilly nights. As it gets here in January and February. The Cuban people who don’t have Diet Coke wine, champagne, or even water and I’m thinking the food is great. My belly is full….I am not cooking. I am not Cleaning, so who am I to complain about the shortages that the workers here at the Hotel cannot control???? it’s not their fault they feel terrible when they have to say sorry we don’t have it. For some reason we tourists feel entitled, but if they can’t even get it. How do we expect to have it? Yes, we pay a bit of money to come here, but it’s Cuba. We have good music, pool, beach, entertainment and cold beer. There are shortages!!! As I look in the mirror and see my tanned face and feel the warmth ??on my body. I realize the reason why I came here!!! It’s freezing cold at home and I just wanted to feel the sun ? on my face. That’s what I’m getting every day when I go down to the beach. I have sun on my face and I see the beautiful ocean. Watch the Cuban family’s play on the beach and see how happy they are with nothing. They are starving don’t have cold unlimited beer, they don’t have a quarter of what we have here at the hotel but they are still happy. I’m speaking about every hotel at the moment has shortages doesn’t matter how much you pay or where you go, so when you come to cuba. Remember bring things that we enjoy and have abundance of from Home, ketchup, mustard mio dry soup anything that can make your trip better because here they just don’t have it and it’s not their fault. Bring lightweight stuff ( dry soup, boxes of stuffing) I even brought frozen orange juice. Yep the floors are slippery when they’re wet , it’s not the Cubans’s fault…. we just have to be more cautious and more careful as in another post get slip resistant sandals, or shoes to avoid slipping and falling. They have to wear very uncomfortable shoes all day long standing 16 HOURS they slip and fall and they get hurt yet they still have to work. They still greet us with a smile. So to all the workers here at Brisas . Thank you for all your hard work and your dedication. I’m grateful for you, a clean room, cooked food, wifi , especially breakfast lol, soap, shampoo, AND TOILET PAPER in room. I am sorry if I had complained once maybe twice about no diet Coke or no white wine. I’m sorry I love your country and I love every minute that I am here. We are not entitled we are spoiled. Dedicated to everyone lying around soaking up the beauty of Cuba. Even with the flaws I will return.

Have enjoyed many trouble free and completely satisfying vacations at Brisas. However, when things go wrong an hotel’s flexibility and willingness to make changes and special arrangements are highlighted. On my most recent visit the management and staff were extremely helpful and supportive as I coped with a serious health issue. Providing transportation to the local clinic, doctor’s visit to my room, daily follow up by resident nurse, offer to have meals delivered to my room, late check out and keeping tabs on my condition and needs (extra blankets). This is an hotel whose management and staff ensure that your needs are their priority regardless of the circumstances. Thank you.

The views of the ocean are amazing! It is so close to the main hotel. The staff are so welcoming, and will do their best to make your vacation wonderful. Ocean view rooms in the main building are smaller than Villa rooms, but the views of the ocean and harbour from your patio make up for it.

There major food and water shortages at this resort. I became sick 18 hours after arriving at the resort. 50 percent of guest were Rude, Unkind, Disrespected Cuban. A lot of the Canadians there were Cougars or Panthers looking for young Cuban Companions. I came home a week early do to food poisoning. It will Bea long time before I go back to Cuba.

Needs some upgrade for sure toilet seats and toilet paper and fresh water in the room every day should be a must but the place was clean and the staff are amazing and very appreciative and helpful. Mix for drinks was limited and well the food could be improved for sure all and all I would go back for sure

THE STAFF AT THIS RESORT ABSOLUTELY MAKE IT WHAT IT IS WE WENT AS A GROUP AND ENDED UP HAVING ISSUES FROM CHECK IN UPGRADES WERE OVERLOOKED AS WELL AS HANDICAP ACCOMODATIONS THE FOOD WAS CUBA FOOD .VERY SCARCE AND LIMITED THEY HAD COLA FOR FIRST 3 DAYS THEN NOTHING BUT FANTA ON A GOOD NOTE THE ENTERTAINERS AND STAFF WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND MADE THE TRIP WELL WORTH IT

Love this resort! We are rerun guests. The staff are top notch, grounds are immaculate as is the resort. Decor is tired but very clean with some updates and beach is incredible. Plenty of activities to keep you busy if desired. Would definitely return again.

50 meters lobby to pull, 100 meters lobby to beach. Good staff. Average food selection. 30% of guests are local guys, the rest are Canadians. Sandy beach protected from waves by two rows of reefs, even during a storm I could swim in the sea.

This is my 6 time at La Brisas. every time I go I like it more and more. Yes they lack food and beverages at times but times are tough. I will continue to return to this resort. As single ladies we feel so safe as there is security always around. If you leave the resort go at your own risk. Beaches are so beautiful pools are clean. Staff is wonderful. Do NOT travel to Brisas Guardalavaca. It is the worst Resort for customer service. There is no food and alcoholic drinks available for the Canadian tourists. All the food and drinks (especially beer) is stolen by local Cubans visiting the hotel. Hotel Customer Relations is a joke. The staff at the Customer Relations favours Cubans who come to stay a few days versus tourists coming in for a longer stay. What ever food is left is full of salt. One only tastes salt in all prepared food. This is to preserve the food so that it can be served repeatedly over number of days. I strongly recommend staying away from this particular resort.

The hotel was good very nice, it had alot of things to do. Various activities plenty of food and variety overall the staff was friendly. Although there were a couple of rude ones the majority were friendly and professional. The grounds was kept up and there was alot of entertainment and although it seems like a great hotel the couple of bad experiences I had with them it became sour for me. If you go for the price it is a great value but you could find better hotels for the same price.

I think is good with room for improvment. The beach is beautiful as well as the natural place. The staff is educated and friendly, well dressed and helpful all the time. The cleaners do a very good job.

We all thought the hotel was good overall. They had soap in all bathrooms 90 percent of the time , toilet paper less than that . Shortages are common on the island.They had enough food in buffet , no wine until 2 weeks into our trip and no liqueurs If you don't like noise get end of hotel rooms or villas . Room was good except for power plugs should be replaced as you had to play with them to make them work . loose connections in sockets so no power .Grounds were kept well and they were replacing a lot of walkway tile in April . Front desk more helpful than Club Amigo although they need more bellboys when a bus comes in. We had to handle all our luggage (lots) but they had trolley carts , so we survived. Beach is great . Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating , a few were not and should not be working there. Would not serve tables , on phone all the time , etc. As a 3.5 star hotel goes it was just fine and had all we needed.

The hotel itself was good and people were friendly, the bathtub was terrible and very dangerous! The bottom is not flat, very unsturdy to stand on and sides are very high to step into! Sadly not all restaurants were open to experience them and buffet was always the same food including desserts were always the same so not much variety as far as food goes! Ran out of diet cola, which wasn’t good for me being type 1 diabetic, so not much for me to drink on resort

The Hotel stay was fabulous, staff were great and respectful and when asked for things they acted right away. I definitely will be going back . I hope to return next year with my family we all had a wonderful time.

I stayed at Brisas Guardalavaca for 4 nights in March 2023 and was bitten several times by bed bugs. The staff allowed me to change rooms. They could not tell if the problem was bed bugs or tiny red ants

Good day! I would like to first start with the fact that every employee we came into contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The resort is lovely. I understand that there are some renovations happening at the hotel and I look forward to those. The room we were in had a few issues ( air didn’t work well, fridge didn’t work, bathroom had some issues with plug and hot water) none of which we complained about…you don’t spend much time in there anyway. Thank you for my fabulous vacation

Everything was excellent love it.the food ,the ocean, the service the weather the people the activities the drinks the music the dinner the bar the rooms the pool the stage was extremely amazing will go again

We really liked our vacation at La Brisas Guardalavaca. The rooms were exceptionally clean. We stayed in a villa which was away from the main hub of the hotel. It was very quiet compared to the main traffic areas closer to the pools. Absolutely no complaints about the food. There are shortages all over Cuba. Most of the bars didn’t have vodka or tequila, but the brisas punch and the Mojitos at the Havana Club on the rooftop bar went down fairly easily while watching the sunset.

This resort was truly amazing. The staff, restaurants, villas, bars , entertainment ,pools and beach were all top notch! This was our first time but we were already planning to return before we left. Thank you for an amazing holiday at Brisas!

Returning to Brisas after a 3 year break. Amazing as always. Staff are nice and the beach is clean. Plenty of shade on the beach area. There's always food in the restaurants with some shortages here and there. Hotel personal will make sure that visitors are happy and content. Will return soon.

we liked the Hotel, the only thing we didn’t like was the noice at night on the stage, our Balcony was was Facing the pool and Stage, the first two night it was so noisy at the stage the young people were dancing and the music was so loud all we could was Boom boom boom until 1 A M in the morning, so the next morning my Husband went in the office and complained, and told them about it, and told them it is Ok till 11pm they have to remember there are older people there too The food was OK but every lunch and supper was the same food no complaints about Sandra the lady who looked after our room she was great and very friendly, and the people in the Dinning room they were also great no complaints about the Service and they all were very friendly The only thing what we didn’t like was the bad wind we had almost every day we would never go to Cuba in January and February again people told us it is your Winter time, we would recommend the Hotel to friends but never when it is your Wintertime But then again a lot of people go at that time and don’t mind the strong wind Sincerely Anni & Dick Wynen

Hotel was clean, short distance walk to dining, pools and beach. Everything is accessible in few steps. Limited food and drinks served which you cannot blame on them, there's a shortage of supply caused by covid after effects.

This Hotel now is for the local people and is no good for the Canadians on the food line, they step in front of you. you can not keep a chair on the beach They go and a seat on your chair, I was 16 Times in this Hotel, but I will think to go back again. Thank you Brisas Hotel good by!

I would like to start of by saying that I have been to Holguin many times over many years and by far the best hotel I have come across! The food selection was great with many options for everyone. The grounds and interior of the hotel were kept impeccable. The staff were very helpful and kind. The beach couldn't get any better and the entertainment team had something for everyone as well. Pricing for this hotel was perfect too.

A relaxing week and the beach is great but the hotel is very run down and severe lack of food. Rooms were good size but very outdated, didn't use the pool and staff were not very hospitable. I've been at this resort multiple times but its obvious that Cuba and suffered greatly from the pandemic.

Where to start. This was our first time in Cuba , we decided on Brisas Gardalavaca. What a Resort. We stayed in on of the Villa which was superb. Kudos to the staff who are always smiling, friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The entertainment, music, night life was so much fun, they really know how to make things fun for all. Highly recommended for your next trip to Cuba..

Grounds at hotel are amazing.. seen workers doing maintenance every day with tree And bush trimming , my room was freshly painted and beds where very comfortable with clean white sheets that were not stained.. AnD nice pillows.. cold water in shower most of the week which was disappointing. Light bulbs seemed to be missing in lamps in the room.. dining- buffets looked clean and service was good. Food was ok ish.. nothing special always something to eat AMD friendly staff . Very disappointed with a la carte.. seafood as in buffet other than the seafood that did have a lobster tail meal. Rest where buffet food. Was surprised with no tomotoes potatoes or luttuce and no fries AMD was served banana clips all week . Yucky.. I know things are at shortage now so maybe that's what was going on.. now I heard from others on different resorts they did have potatoes.. the drinks from lobby bar especially Spanish coffees where great AMD reception bar did a nice job also with different drinks . Music was very loud in lobby bar . Beach is amazing AMD most lounger where good.. lots of cjaors this tome of year AMD staff willing to help get u one of u needed one.. security seemed great.. reception workers where helpful and friendly.. we had a good week.

Overall we had a great time at Brisas Guardalavaca. The beach is beautiful. Room (Villa) was clean. We never had an problem finding meals. The only issue is if you go to the buffet late the food is almost gone because the Cuban's staying at the resort tend to take over. We found if we went early everything was plentiful. The coffee and breakfast at the restaurant is fantastic. We did have 2 of our towels stolen off our 2nd floor balcony. That was very disappointing. The beach & grounds are kept very clean. Staff are very friendly.

Nadejda. My husband and I have been to Brisas Guardalavaca for the 5th time for 2 weeks. Hotel near the ocean, beautiful sandy beach. The staff at the hotel is very friendly, trying to make our relaxation comfortable. We like this hotel. One minus: monotonous tasteless food, few vegetables, 2 days there was no fruit, bottle of water is not put in the room... We recommend this hotel for those who like to swim a lot in the ocean: the water is warm, clean. I hope that we will come again. October,2022

Well.. I have zero complaints about the hotel. I've been there over a dozen times, as well as many other resorts. Brisas Guardalavaca has amazing staff, an excellent public relations staff, very good entertainment department,.. they do a very good job considering what the current conditions of Cuba are. That being said, there are several disappointing things. The lack of availability for things, (food, beverage, water) They try hard to make tourists happy. But it is not what it used to be. The resort, in my opinion, is overpriced for what you get. They ran out of bottled water, and I had to buy it off the resort. There was zero soft drinks available, only fruity sweet syrup blends. Not good for a diabetic. Of course there's no shortage of beer. There are a lot of Cubans at the resort, which for me is not a problem, this is why I go there. However, because if the lack of things available to the Cuban public, they rape the hotel of everything. Take entire trays of meats, cheeses, bread, etc.. back to their tables, and stuff it in their purses/backpacks. Very disheartening behavior. Still.. this will not put me off going there.. I'm going back in December. I will bring another two suitcases of things to give away. Anything helps. Sunwing, Air Transat, and Trip Central need to know how horrible the conditions are, and severely readjust their travel prices accordingly!

Hotel is dated in need of repairs that I thought would have been done during COVID shut downs, also fumigation of bugs and the cockroaches would be very helpful. This hotel is rated a four star I would give it a two point five or a three maximum. I found the buffet was got humid and stuffy, the managers tried something new with outdoor dining at the pool area and on the beach, a bright spot I thought.

Cuba has been through a lot since even before Covid so they are doing their best. If you talk to the people who work there and get to know them, and enjoy the beach and pools, you will have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

We have been in this hotel 4 time's. Amazing shore and landscape, beautiful ocean. But !!!! You can feel that this hotel start to degrading. It needs renovation, not just painting. Variety of food minimum. But you won't be hungry. Fly's everywhere including on the food . People who work there are very friendly, but Cuban's who are guest's (seems like 80 % of population of the hotel) are not. only one bar will give you real drink's, others will mix Havana club for example with the water. Anyway. If you okay with simple rice and fish everyday and you just need sun and ocean. Go

We were in Brisas Guardalavaca for 16 days. The hotel is located on the ocean, the beach is beautiful. The weather was great. Interesting performances in the evenings. All services from reception area to restaurants work wonderfully. Cubans are very friendly people, always friendly. This is our 5th trip to this hotel, I think that the last, because it is filled with Cubans, I often had to stand in line to the restaurant, and on vacation it is annoying. Food is monotonous, tasteless, there is nothing to choose from. You can be patient for a week, but I don't want anything for the second. If you want to get to know Cuba,its people,nature,then go there. Cuba is a beautiful country. Nadejda,Valeri. 8 May, 2022.

The service was really bad , it is 7 time i visit this hotel with my friends and family evey year the service and food become worst .this time we decided to change this hotel and leaved it fir ever we change this hotel with almirante , the hotel 5 stars , almirante was great clean and services was good

The beach at the hotel is beautiful,the hotel itself is very clean,their is an elevator for easier excess to the surrounding property.The staff is amazing and very friendly.There is a market very close by in walking distance.Close to the market is a boulevard where there is a beautiful beach and food and drinks,great area to spend the day away from the hotel.The town of guadalevaca is within walking distance from the hotel,if you hire a cab or horse and buggy they will take you to outdoor Cuban restaurants with great food and an amazing Cuban vibe,I highly recommend doing this,we went out several times.I would also recommend you bring,pepper,hot sauce and any other condiments you like,it’s very hard to find these things in Cuba.The hotel restaurants,the food is delicious,so get up early and make your reservations for the week.Tony,takes care of the non motorized water tours,he is awesome and the rest of the crew is amazing,you can find him in the little brown building to the right of the beach on the property,they also would appreciate a few beers if your going in that direction,some munchies would put a smile on there faces.Overall,it was a great experience,I’m not one to spend to much time on the resort,I like to mingle with the Cuban people outside and get the authentic Cuban experience.Hola!!!!!!

Hotel & villas super clean! Genuinely nice staff...great pools & beaches. A la cartes were awesome and even the buffet had tons of options for even a picky eater. They do need some cosmetic updates...a good paint job would help! But I would definitely go back and definitely recommend!! And I was very impressed with using trip central to book my vacation!

The entire areal is very comfortable, short distance from the hotel to the beach. I don't like to complain about the facilities since it is not our priority, but the condition of the bathroom surprised us, that was a 1 star run down bathroom. Cleaning of the room is another subject I never talked about until now. The counter was obvious area and it was not touched once in the two weeks. The real shock was not that 80% of the guests were locals, but that the reason for the stay was not the beach, but the feeding area and all the could carry out. Every person was ordering 8 burgers and 8 pizzas at a time and that was repeated every 20 minutes. Buns were discarded and dutifully carried to the garbage by a waitress. Only the hamburger patties and pizzas were packed to plastic bags taken to a bicycle courier by the beach. Beer taken in gallon containers. After the weekend somebody must have stepped in, because these orgies were over. Next weekend 400 guests were booked, but nobody showed up they must had been warned, that the communism is over. The scenes from the dining room I am leaving out, to keep this short. It was an interesting experience. Now something positive. The staff was really pleasant, really good service. The a la carte restaurants are beautiful, with good food, specially if you like lobster. I would return to this resort without hesitation.

Hotel and staff are great .Entertainment not as good as it used to be . I'm sure it's because of covid. Hope it comes back.Lots of cubans at the resort enjoy themselves which I'm sure is the only way they could stay open.Canadians just starting to travel.

We stayed in the villa and just loved it. Beautiful beach, pool and room. The food was way better than expected. French fries and ketchup was our go-to snack! Cons: No wine even at the a la carts. There were a lot of Cubans on vacation or day pass which was fine but they left garbage everywhere...we found ourselves picking up cups and straws daily

I liked the hot showers in the morning that I wasn't used to in similar Cuban hotels. I wasn't fond of COVID adaptations at the buffets, lineups for usual Cuban food that really isn't worth standing in line to have scooped on your plate. I liked the reservation system for specialty restaurants that actually worked. I didn't like the tv and the magnetic keycard that didn't work. I really liked the beach and the palm trees, and the tennis courts were newly surfaced. I didn't like tourists complaining of Cuban families having fun at the resort. I really liked the capuccinos but they were not very milky, they had lots of Cristall, but no Bucanero, no mint, no mojitos. Staff were friendly, the front desk was not overworked and effective ( except they couldn't get the TV to work, nor their magnetic keycards). Add it all up and it equals a good Cuban beach resort in March.

My husband and I booked the Villa VIP at Brisas Guardalavaca through TripCentral (SunWing). We arrived extremely late due to a traveler checking in 3 bags and then not showing up for his/her flight. This required us to wait a long time while they tried to locate this person at the airport - then, after no response, Sunwing spent a bunch of time locating the 3 bags to remove them from the plane. Needless to say, we arrived very late and very tired. Although we purchased VIP, most of these "extras" were not there on our arrival. We made complaints to our Sunwing Rep the following day at around 2:30 pm, then, when we arrived back to our room to get ready for dinner, we found some of the things we paid extra for but not all of them - very disappointing. We did not receive everything advertised by Sunwing that we paid extra for. Never-the-less... we met some great people, staff and tourists, and had a great week in Cuba. The beach and pools were great, staff were great, but, if you are a wine drinker don't go to Cuba because they only had a little red wine at the Italian restaurant and ran out of white wine every day at multiple bars. I found out some people pre-book many bottles of red wine with the hotel directly and I assume this is why they run out of red wine for the rest of us. Food is ok at best but we knew this before booking our trip. With VIP we could book 5 ala carts where the cooks took the exact same food and made it better. Vegetables were mixed peas-potatoes-carrots and were very mushy (from a can we suspect) and potatoes from flakes... by mid-week I ordered my meals with rice and asked "please do not give me potatoes, and, please add hot-red-peppers" (from jars or cans) to the canned vegetables to make them more palatable. Salads were the same everywhere and at every meal... sliced cucumbers, pickled sliced beets, shredded cabbage, and the dreaded canned mixed vegetables. The beef and chicken breasts were mostly great. We ordered omelettes (with the works) and ham at the open air restaurant beside the pool/snack bar every day which was delicious. Breakfast fruit was all pretty under-ripe and tough so we ordered grapefruit only. Staff were always really nice. We tipped $1 to $2 US dollars usually at most meals. With the VIP we had lobster, but you could order lobster at 2 other restaurants without VIP, what the heck. What was extra special was that we ordered it at the Cuban ala carte restaurant and were served a bottle of champagne, we had a candle, and white tablecloth. Unfortunately, our friends were seated at a different table even though they loudly requested to share with us. Then, their table was pooped on by multiple birds (it was an outdoor restaurant) and so they were moved to a "clean" table. I scooped some bird poop onto the floor from our table... most people realise if you sit outdoors you're going to have birds, flies, geckos, crabs, lizards, butterflies, bees, dogs, and cats, etc., hanging about... we were totally ok with that...really enjoyed it actually. I know this all sounds bad but for the little money we paid (compared to DR and Mexico) we received a fabulous deal. The market had some great deals even though I didn't haggle... I bought 2 gorgeous oil paintings ($60 cdn.) by H. Hayain (I think that's how it's spelled). Amazing artist... I bought 2 bird paintings - one was a humming bird and one was a local colourful bird (Cuban Tody). I'm just looking into getting them framed. I also bought a beautiful pink/coral crocheted top - it is crocheted from a cotton type of yarn and stretches to whatever size you are... absolutely gorgeous and only $15 cdn (I didn't try to get a lesser price as I crochet and I know the time that goes into creating it). Regarding Covid... all staff wore masks all the time, most tourists did too but of course you always get the odd 1 or 2 who don't always follow the rules... seeing this I would ask our guides to remind them... I always felt pretty safe, especially when I looked at my phone app, Worldometer, that indicates Cuba has only had one wave of high Covid numbers and are now down way below Canada's numbers. I was told Cuba has over 82% of their population 3-dose vaccinated... way better than Canada and most countries. Getting tested was pretty easy (and we went to the market afterwards which was right beside the clinic). Internet is not always reliable in Cuba so we went to the International Clinic, a 3-minute walk from our resort, on Tuesday to pay for the test ($30 US). Confirm they write down your correct passport number as they wrote down mine wrong, then we had our test on Wednesday (again, check that they write down your correct passport number on your test tube). The doctor came to our resort's lobby at approx 4:00 pm on Thursday and wrote out our negative test result forms. Then we completed our ArriveCan app (that we had downloaded before we left Canada). Brisas gave us each 10 hours of free internet access at the main pool area, lobby area, and villa pool area. After 3 days we found out that we could get internet access at our villa on our balcony and in our bedroom... nice. All-in-all, we loved our trip. Would we go back to Brisas? Maybe... but even though we talked to many people who consider Brisas their "cottage" as they go there about 3 times per year, my husband and I like to travel all over the world so, although we will definitely go back to Cuba, we will likely try another resort (only because we love variety). P.S. since it's been so long since we've been to Cuba, although we spent a lot of tip money (Cdn & US), we didn't bring stuff that they really really need/want... children's/adults' pain medication, school supplies, foot ware, clothes, chocolate/candy, etc., etc., etc. Next time we'll do better.

We stayed at Brisas Guardalavaca from October 8 to October 15. The weather was great. The hotel staff worked very well: all issues were resolved instantly. 3 days before departure, they took a test for a covid, but the result was given only on the day of departure, washing the nerves of the vacationers. The food was bad: there were no fruits and vegetables, it surprised. You only had to pay with a visa. The money that they brought with them was taken back, they could not stay in Cuba and work for its strange economic position of the Cuban government. It is unprofitable for vacationers to pay with a visa, because prices are in American dollars, but dollars do not go in Cuba, the Canadian bank changes to Canadian dollars, we lose money. My husband and I have been to Cuba 22 times, but I think this is our last trip

Friendliest, accommodating staff ever. A la cartes were enjoyed thoroughly. Buffet and snack areas probably one of the best, too, we have experienced in Cuba. Chairs were set out, not waiting for a staff member, for the ocean experience and first time for us that the ocean was more popular than the pool! Hot water can be an issue in room, but used to this in Cuba and it will come sooner, or later. Not an issue in villas so we heard. Walked the whole area outside and completely safe. Majority of guests were Canadians who really appreciated the service. No wonder so many returning guests we talked to.....2-20 times!!

Just back from a lovely vacation at Brisas! If you’re looking for an entertaining staff, beautiful gardens and true Cuban culture this will be the place for you. We had a great week here!! The resort however is 25 years old!

Seventh time back to Brisas. The grounds are kept clean and the selection of restaurants and bars is more than you ask for. The staff is polite and will make sure they make your stay very pleasant. The beach is clean with lots of shade if you don't want to be burned all the time. There are places to snorkel and locals to facilitate that for a small fee. Horseback riding just outside of the hotel if you wish to go for a ride along the beach. The market is just walks away if you want to buy some local souvenirs. All in all fantastic place. Will recommend and will return next year.

Was our second trip to this resort. It has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and venues. Met lots of older people our age who come regularly for three weeks or more. Resort is great value for your money. A la cartes are good and there are many bars. I think this will be our Cuba hotel

The resort itself is awesome with a great view of the ocean. This is my 8th times being there, with changes happening all the time. One I wasn't impressed with was the snack bar. It can be hard at times to get a table in there when it's busy, now they want you to sit at a table and order your food instead of ordering at the counter for pizza , fries etc. Kind of hard when there isn't a seat to be found. When you sit at a table outside the snack bar the server says he can't serve you or your not allowed to have food out there.. very frustrating. Not an improvement in my opinion. Villa reception closed definately not a great decision and hopefully they will reopen soon. If you stay on the villa and have to check in at the hotel or have issue you have to go all the way to the hotel reception. Pulling you luggage to and from the hotel is a challenge and not a plus. The staff is amazing and I would like to say thank you to them for their hard work and friendliness. Raquel in housekeeping on the villa side you are awesome always a smile and a good morning, Danni in the bar always a great conversation, Jesus in the hotel swim up bar the best, Daniel now in sales always a pleasure, Luis mario & Mario in the hotel buffet are great with a hug and a smile. Omar hotel security what a great conversationalist, Arasay the waitress at the bar by the hotel buffet always made us laugh and great service. Booked with trip central through Hola sun flew Air transat. Ease of booking with trip central was great. Hola sun Rep at hotel leaves something to be desired, not there 2 days out of the week and difficult to book excursion,. Air transat service needs some attention and not very friendly. Flight back to toronto was brutally hot and the smell of exhaust was unbearable. Will definitely booked with sunwing again next year

Been to this resort several times, villas are getting a little tired but more than sufficient, grounds are kept in good condition. Food sometimes seemed to be in short supply for ie. only one day in 7 were there any type of potato at snack bar which is to bad as there were quite a few children and looking for snack food, no condiments for several days also ran out toppings for pizza! Beach is great, lots of sun and shade! Would definitely go back... but feel that they are struggling.

We boarded on time from our POD, Toronto, but due to snowstorm conditions and a passenger with inadequate papers our departure was delayed (onboard) more than 2 hours. We arrived very late at Brisas Guardalavaca. The check-in process would be so much more efficient if it’s done on the 1-hour bus ride from the airport (as in some other resorts). The grounds are as well kept as I remember from previous vacations at this hotel; the gardeners do such a great job! Unfortunately we had 2 days of high winds, rain & extreme cold which churned up the ocean & littered the beachfront with a lot of weeds (I don’t remember so many weeds & rocks from previous stays there). As the hotel was ‘overbooked’, we were offered a ‘free’ excursion for one night to Gibara; the catch was that we were required to check out (and check back in the next day into a different room). We declined. *The Russians: although I’ve experienced their presence in Varadero, this was the first time I’ve seen so many in Holguin. Generally speaking they are loud, obnoxious rude & drunk from breakfast until night, when we could see the occasional Russian passed out at a table or along a pathway. Disgusting! Their presence here will deter me from returning unless some changes are made (ie; no longer permitted at this hotel). They are disliked not only by the other clients, but also the wonderful staff, who have to put up with such rude behaviour. The food at this hotel is very good & it’s always great to reconnect with longstanding chefs there, such as Miguel, Roberto & Enrique. A culinary highlight for me was fresh calamari one night at dinner (DELICIOUS!). I took a couple of pieces to taste, liked it, went back up to the buffet to help myself to a few more but the once very full serving dish was empty with no more available. As I went back to our table I witnessed a few ‘Russian tables’ with a mountain of calamari heaped on plates, then left behind as waste. It’s inconsiderate from my perspective but imagine how the Cubans would see this.... living in a country where occasional shortages and rationing may prevent them from always having enough... despicable!!! My room was clean and well cared for by my chambermaid. The shower head didn’t work very well though and the toilet was not solidly connected on its base to the floor. A leak appeared in the bathroom (from the ceiling) and the plumber & chambermaid came immediately to resolve it.... turned out to be condensation from the AC unit I had turned off when the weather turned cold; I was instructed AC must always be left on. Aging equipment is showing signs of wear. The staff works hard here... taking care of communal bathrooms, restocking toilet paper, cheerful & enthusiastic animation, pleasant entertainment, neat gardens. Overall, it was a nice restful vacation.

nice resort great workers and maids thought the fridge should have been stocked the other 7 places I stayed at was and had patios but this only had a foot patio but room was clean workers good lol and all other room safes you never had to pay $14 for a key to lock it like this one so some things good but the resort its self could use some work like safe and things nothing major

We stayed in the villa section, love this little resort . Staff is over the top friendly and go above and beyond to help you . Food was great I think the food was better on this trip compared to last year which must be hard with the embargo the country is dealing with . Great al the cartes Nice beach staff work hard to keep it clean 2 nice pools .main pool is active and villa pool is quiet Would return again. Great resort for a good cost

What an amazing hotel. Despite the weather not being the best in early Jsnuary hotel staff did their best to ensure a good time was had by all. Lots of entertainment, plenty of options and well run establishment. Just remember to bring adapter for the rooms as they are all 220v.

Just returned from this hotel and had a fabulous time! Our rooms were awesome, the food was good and plentiful, and the staff very friend! Although we did get rain 3-4 days on and off we made the most of our vacation at this lovely resort! Thank you Brisas Guardavalaca!

It is a huge place and there are restaurants and bars all over. Was surprise to see tennis grounds as well as you will not find at some other resorts. Very friendly staff, wish all other hospitality industries could take a few lessons here. one of my best moments was horseback riding outside the resort through the villages and having a beer at one of the locals. Mojito bar located on the 4th floor is a gem. Oscar is a great bartender.

Not impressed with the level of service at reception. Seem to go about their business and don’t look up to greet you and you wait for 10 minutes while they chat with one another. Our room was not ready upon our arrival. Took over an hour and a half before we finally got it. Wow, paid for VIP too! So they knew we were coming. When booking a la Carts...the guy is sneaky. Originally he told us we were to get two dinners. I booked two. He said only 8:30 pm available! Next day received a lobster 🦞 invite dinner invitation, booked for 6:30 pm. In speaking with others who had the VIP and same wrist band we should have received 3 plus the lobster dinner. We found out at the end of our trip but in enough time to capitalize on the third dinner. Went back to book and he said sorry nothing available. Funny, you get manager involved and suddenly his tone changed and we had choices of four different times! The service at the beach restaurant is amazing! Thank you Yasmin for making our week a special one. Beach was awesome and weather was hot and sunny all week! The only real thing I noticed was the Cubans that come and stay on the resort certainly got better food given to them and full service versus someone who paid VIP. Lastly, don’t expect your fridge stocked after initial day...everything is about the almighty dollar. Not keen on the resort. Playa Pesquero it is for us if we return to Cuba.

An average Cuban hotel, lots of things need attention (maintenance wise). Amazing people are working there, exceptional service. Resort recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, many people coming back every year. Recommended for retired people, very nice and quiet place. Amazing ocean and beach.
