The resort is older but clean. The first morning after Breakfast there are folks waiting for you so they can take you on tour of the resort to show you what you can buy. with our guy their was no pleasure to buy and you start the tour of with a gift and a drink. Did not mind this as it was a good way to see the resort around and learn. In the end we said no to buying and that was it no pleasure. The rooms where clean and the house staff was very helpful. The food was really good and the entertainment was good for both adults and kids. For what we paid for this trip it was a good week and no complaints I would recommend this resort

I unfortunately do not have a good review of this resort. They are so focused on their “members” the rest of the resort fails. Food was some of the worst we have had at a resort. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and that includes that Cubas food is a smidge better than what was experienced. The rooms are very outdated and have no storage for your clothes, our toilet leaked from the bottom all over the floors (made our room smell like pee), the smell of sewage was very bad especially on the shuttle between the different restaurants. The beach was not clean, nice or inviting, garbage, and the seaweed was very bad on beach and in the water. You couldn’t tell if you were going to step on rocks or break an ankle falling into a little valley. Had to go down and get a bed/chair by 7:30 am or none left. Their reservation for restaurants was the worst i have ever seen. Had to go 3 days in a row to for them to keep telling us the system resets. We finally got reservations only to be in 2 places at once and only found out when arrived at the Italian Restaurant and it was VIP only which was weird because we were considered VIP but apparently not the right kind of VIP. Even offered them $20 American to let us in and they said no. Entertainment was great until they had hard stops so people will go watch the dumb shows that they put on. If you can see the people are having fun you don’t stop but not here no matter how many people are having fun. AND to top it all off everyone in our party got sick, not just one every single one of. It was so horrible. We had prepared for all of this as we have travelled a million times. But this was unstoppable we could not get better. Almost kicked me off of the flight because I was still throwing up. The other thing that was annoying were the small cold pools by our beds and the beach, the parents let the kids use them as a fun playing pool even if adults were sitting in them to cool off. They have children’s pools but parents didn’t care. No lobby so there was no entertainment in the evening after dinner to sit and have a drink and watch. We left money in the fridge to see if they would refill our beer must not have even opened the fridge cause money still there. Also with 2 people in each room we only received 1 beer and one Pepsi. Let’s not forget the peacocks, excited to see them but at night they were VERY loud and would wake us up or keep us up. This is the worst trip ever and I/we will never go back to puerto Plata. If I could give a zero rating I would.

The food is worse than Cuba. It was unbearable. The rooms need service all the time. Not enough lounge chairs so you are constantly looking for one or standing around . No coffee unless the restaurant is open (at 7am). No activities for kids. No entertainment.

Very disappointed. First day there we were solicited by one of the staff claiming to take us on a "tour" of the resort so we would know where we could and couldn't go. Incidentally, even though Trip Central and Lifestyle's website say you can venture between the two, there are a lot of areas you can't. Turned out this was a scam to get us across the street to try and hard sell us a very expensive membership to a club. We were held over an hour before we came up with an excuse to get out of there ! Another couple we spoke to said they were held for three hours in a separate room against there will and when they tried to leave the resort employee called his manager for additional intimidation. The beach was not great. There is an upper level equipped with pagodas which are very comfortable and a good bar where the food is acceptable. Pools are nice and the foam party is lots of fun ! The buffet is excellent with most foods available every day. Rooms are very dated and the resort is noisy all the time even at night when the peacocks start there wailing (didn't know they even made such a racket ).If you are looking for a place to relax this is NOT the place to be !

Hotel was dated but was clean, staff was friendly! Food was ok! A lot of stuff missing with the resort or have no access to which was disappointing! Room was clean but very loud, the resort doesn’t sleep! ( at least where we were) No beaches so if you’re going to relax in the sand! Not the resort you’re looking for!

This resort is huge and there is plenty to do, tons of amazing restaurants and lots of yummy cocktails!!! Pool options, palm trees and an ocean breeze!!! We loved the sushi, Brazilian and Mexican restaurants and the handmade pizza at Bellini is incredible! The staff are friendly, accommodating, and always smiling. Definitely recommend.

We just returned from the Lifestyles Resort & Spa in the Dominican Republic, and it was great! It was my first time going to the Dominican Republic with my husband and good friend, and it did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic—nothing below +28, but it was very humid . We stayed around the adults-only pool because the ocean was very nasty, with huge waves and a lot of algae on the beach. The food was your typical buffet, with lots to choose from therefore you will not go hungry. We decided to take in an "a la cart" restaurant so we chose the Brazilian and it was such a nice experience, with the waiters bringing you the meats on a large skewer to your table, the meats included were chicken, turkey, pork ribs, steak and to finish a pineapple dessert and it was all delicious. The only downfall here was 2 things first - the peacocks, they sounded like 10 male cats fighting, they were very loud noisy birds but beautiful to see at the same time. And second, the good people that worked at the spa, they don't leave you alone they were obnoxious!!! Rooms were cleaned every day, the bottled water was replenished also everyday, the grounds were beautiful, and the day beds were also changed on a daily basis. The buffet napkins smelled like fleecy, yes they smelled like fleecy and so did the towels & sheets which was refreshing. All in all I will give this resort 9.5 out of 10...

Lobby was under construction. No heads up about this. we arrived at night. The make shift lobby was very dark. December 10 and no Christmas decorations at all. Very poorly lit as we checked in. We had 3 guests and the safe in the room which is paid for daily had only one key. building 5. Very sporadic hot water for showering. Patio door handle broken and very difficult to open and close. We requested to be moved to Building 6. Better hot water situation. Safe with code entry easier for the 3 guests. Requested 3rd patio chair and told not available. Room towel service usually for 2 guest and always needed to ask 3 guests. Sunwing rep not found. at one point guest services said to look around the pool area for him. Room pillows were TERRIBLE. Very lumpy like balls /bunches of cotton. We asked for better pillows which were just as bad. Air conditioning vent in the ceiling gave lots of condensation on the ceiling that then dripped onto the floor that would leave a large puddle of water creating a danger for a slip and fall so a towel had to be left on floor to absorb the water. Buffet food was usually good with good selection. Brazillian Mexican and Blue Lagoon restaurants were very good. Bar service and drinks very good. The beach at the resort is down may steps and /or steep walkways which can be a problem for some guests. The beachfront is not the best with usually rough water no lounge chairs and is a public beach with vendors and some small shops. Not ideal if you are a beach person. All of the entertainment staff by the pools were GREAT. Very engaging and friendly with morning and afternoon games and water aroebics. Our 2 week stay Dec10-24 had LOTS OF RAIN during the evenings leaving very little in places to go during the evening. no disco or meeting places. upon departure our luggage was left in the open temporary lobby which was very humid from all the rain. Shuttle to airport booked for 7pm even though Sunwing departure had been delayed by one hour at this point. we missed out on the Christmas dinner and show by 1hr.which the sunwing rep could have changed the shuttle time. The seats in this lobby were very hare and uncomfortable and the ants or sand fleas were biting. Overall we had a good time DESPITE THE MANY DEFICIENCIES AS MENTIONED ABOVE. Would I return as a guest? I would have to think hard about this.

The food, although somewhat bland is the only thing I can recommend. From the high-pressure sales for the timeshare to the lack of hot water in the room to the un-enthusiastic waitstaff, I would not recommend this hotel to my friends. I have been to the DR about 10 times and this has been by far the worst resort.

We went to the Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort for a two week all inclusive vacation. It was a positive experience on the most part. We had requested a ground floor room with pool access and that's what we got. The room was a basic hotel room with nothing special. King size bed with no sitting area. The bathroom (shower and toilet) are individually enclosed with frosted glass without any partition between the sleeping area. Sink is open between the two enclosures. This wasn't an issue for us other than a night time run to the bathroom meant the whole room was illuminated when the light was turned on. The safe in the closet was not working, but we didn't really need it. The room was not squeaky clean but was passable. Things like the ceiling fan and air-conditioned vent needed to be cleaned and corners in the bathroom really needed to be scrubbed. Linen and towels were clean and the room smelled fresh. Pillows were good which is not always the case in hotel rooms. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion as well as soap and basic amenities like a small sewing kit, shaving kit and even toothbrush were all provided and packaged nicely. The room was cleaned daily, fresh towels and linen were provided as often as requested. The cleaning and dining room staff were wonderful and very happy to help in anyway they could. The food in the main buffet restaurant and the al-a-carte restaurants was good to very good. Moonlight restaurant in particular was awesome (great food, service and located right in the sand on the beach). The fresh grilling stations around the buffet always had great options and the cooks were happy to grill your bacon a little longer if it wasn't crispy enough from the buffet. Salad and fruit bars were clean and well stocked at every meal. Desert section was a real treat every lunch and dinner meal. Table servers were very attentive and courteous (just a side note: when you arrive at the buffet restaurant find a table before you head to the buffet, the staff will come with your cutlery and take your drink orders, then when you come back to the table with your food everything will be waiting for you). The pool areas were clean and well maintained. There is a large multi pool area that is open to everyone. We were located next to the adult only pool which is smaller, but also every nice. Pool areas were monitored by lifeguards and security staff regularly throughout the day. Cabanas and lounge chairs were cleaned daily (and as at other resorts you have to get there early if you want something). The beach access was limited (you had to go through the VIP membership area and down multiple sets of stairs to get to the water level. Not the nicest beach (it is the Atlantic side of the island and to many shops and vendors to really be beautiful). However the view out to the ocean and the sounds of the surf are captivating. Travel to and from the airport was on large air-conditioned buses that were clean. While we really enjoyed our vacation and came home rested and refreshed there were some things that made our vacation less than ideal. The constant badgering by the Lifestyle sales people (don't get suckered into the welcome tour, it's just a 3 hour long high pressure sales pitch for membership into Lifestyle timeshare stuff) was a pain in the ass. The hustling for cigar sales, spa treatments and everything else really gets tiring after a few days. Everywhere you went there was a tipping box or jar prominently displayed. We're generous, but after two weeks of everyone with their hand out it just got to you. Night time entertainment was pretty awesome. Incredible dancers, costumes and staging. Sometimes the music was too loud. Daytime entertainment and activities around the main pool were fun and loud with lots of laughing and sometimes live music. Lastly, we found that the clientele of this resort seemed to be friendlier that other places that we've been. Lots of people were happy to stop and visit and introduce themselves. We met a number of very nice folks and families that were enjoying their vacation just like we were. I would recommend this location to others as long as you go with reasonable expectation (you get what you pay for - it's 3 star, not 5 star).

Well, it was not a great vacation. When the bus took us to the hotel they left us away from Lobby so we had to walk. Then I was on the side walk which was not too big and decided to step on the road and fell. split my knee open and baby finger and bruised left hip and elbow. Bleeding every where. finally got to lobby and front desk rushed over and tried there best to bandage everything. Why the bus did not let us off at Lobby . No one could tell us. Next day put in a complaint to Sunwing guy. He made a report but would not give Bill a copy. We where on second floor so the next day they put us on First as I was pretty sore walking. Went to the doctors and he looked at knee and put stuff on it and gave me antibotics and pain killers. Put a needle in my arm and put antibotics in also. No going in water for a week. My knee is still swollen as also my ankle. Still pretty sore walking. I will not use sunwing again and it was a west Jet plane. It was just too much at airport going in a shuttle over to sunwing buiding people squeezed in. Waited nearly 2 hours for our luggage coming home. Will go out of Hamilton next time. But not sunwing.

We really had a good time in the resort. Food, people, staff and ambience were good. Couple of things we missed: 1. No hot water to shower 2. Only 1 hour of free wifi If the above can be fixed, we will definitely come back again.

The hotel was huge and we didn't get to see the whole resort in our 7 day stay but what we did see was amazing. There were shuttles to take you around and never had to wait long for one to show up. The food was very good and plentiful. Drinks were good. large gift shop on site. Rooms were clean. Wifi was expensive but we went to the pharmacy at confressi next door(5 min walk) and got sim cards for our phones for 15us dollars and that gave us 10 GB of data which was more than enough for the 7 days. No complaints.

Absolutely love the property the people the size of the property is massive use of all of the facilities is great the pool is clean the drinks are good the food is tasty the only problem was that we didn't have hot water for showers hopefully this can be fixed by adding more hot water tanks so that when the resort is busy this isn't an issue otherwise the renovated Superior Suites was beautiful and I will definitely be coming back again in the near future thank you lifestyle!

The resort is beautiful,clean, good food. There is no disco at this time. The v I p party is no longer as well as the foam party.if you want to go 5o sea world you need to hire a taxi to go to the disco. Drinks are not free there. They still have shows at the Coliseum some nights. There is a silent disco at lifestyles and cofresi, that was fun. The staff at the pool bar are amazing. The roome in building 5 are very clean. The locals come in on weekend and take over. This was my 6th or 7th time there. I would go back.

The Lifestyle Tropical resort is a beautiful well maintained property ...consisting of 2 large hotels and other accomodations Room are large...excellent houskeeping..staff are great and friendly Very high security to enter property Food is very good from the buffet to al carte restaurants..nightly entertainment Family friendly .good place to stay for a vacation

The hotel is very clean, with nice rooms, a nice view to the garden; it is close to the beach, with very friendly employees, and variety of good food and drinks. The barmaids are not looking for tip to serve you; it is up to you to leave a tip or not. The restaurants around are very good with lot of choices.

A wonderful resort for the money. Clean. All in good repair. Buffets more than adequate. Didn’t visit many a la carte. Beach not much and not easy to get to but there. Food was served and staff gloved, masked etc Pools good. Shortage of lounge’s but still good. Unfortunately some bartenders got a bit demanding for tips. All in all a good value and we will return.

We don’t travel much, but it was nice to see the sun, the staff is super friendly, the rooms are clean we had hot water, I was not a fan of the beach , it is small, and closes at 6 , its not a big resort so not much walking to get where you need to go, but maybe thats what I missed big long walks I felt closed in, we did a few day trips they where fantastic, its a very interesting Country. And the food was also fantastic.

We really enjoyed our 2 week vacation here. We were unsure based on previous reviews but we quite enjoyed ourselves. The food was great , drinks were great , beach was ok… but it was the staff at this resort that made our trip great. The servers in all the restaurants were excellent ! Even when the buffet was super busy they still did a great job with service.! Make sure you see the lady’s in the spa !.. best massages ever ! Ask for rose! The sushi bar on the beach was our go-to every day for lunch .. delicious!! The servers on the beach were great and always helpful. Games by the pool were fun , the evening entertainment was great. MAKE SURE YOU DONT MISS THE SILENT DISCO ! We were there for 2.5 weeks so we got to do it twice … it’s a BLAST ! Our only few small complaints were that they need more chairs !.. it was impossible to get a chair on the beach or by the pool. People hog them all day because there are only about a dozen. 😞 And we wish that the “owners” , or time share holders were not invited to mingle in the resort area .. they were rude and horrible to the staff and did what ever they pleased , including smoking in the restaurants. Horrible ! Also the staff booking the alacart restaurants could really use a little improvement ! .. so so so so slow , even if they had 25 people waiting zero sense or urgency to get people booked. We were 6th in line one morning and it look 45 min.

Very good The staff was real nice restaurants are really good and the pools were very enjoyable I would highly recommend it to a lot of my friends the only thing that would be nice is if you were able to rent the golf carts this is a lot of hills there

Had a great 14 day vacation. Rooms were clean, Food was decent, while mostly repetitive there was always a great selection including porkchops, burgers , salads and pasta. , Service was excellent. Roberto in the buffet greeted us everyday and was incredibly customer service oriented . Had an issue with no hot water but the issue was resolved quickly . Staff were extremely accommodating. The beach was very small and swimming was not great but spent 4 hours on Sosua beach which was excellent. .

We just return from Life Style tropical, good vacation without any surprises, very calm and peaceful vacation with good food and entertaining. Restaurants added value to our vacation, delicious food. Our priority were beach and ocean, which was very nice and enjoyable, not deep not dangerous, a little bit waive, just amazing. Only one minus you should take care about chairs on the beach and walking distance is more than usually. Also make sure that you should walk under hill. However resort has beautiful structure of different pools and chairs around. You can use also all facilities of resorts near Life style.

At first we were put in one of the old room’s the next day we were move to a renovated room. Which was much nicer, the phone didn’t work,the toilet was broken we went to the front desk to let them know. They sent Someone right away but he didn’t fix it, so my husband fixed it.the shower leaked and the bed and pillows smelt very musty. The cement around the pools was very uneven, so much so my husband tripped on it and cut his foot pretty bad. Had to go to the doctors for care. For the rest of the week he could not go in the water or on the beach😕😕 the food was not much better. The beach cabanas were very nice and the pool with the cave was beautiful! We would never go back , the negative outweigh the positive.

Pools close at 7pm...beach closes at 6pm...you need to make reservations each morning and wait 1hr in line to do so for your a la cart restaurants wich you can only choose certain restaurants that are available.....the staff are nice and at your service but they need to follow protocol....all in all I will not be going back to this resort!!!

We stayed for 28 days. By the second weekend we realized that every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday the Tropical lets in swarms of unruly, rude locals with their entourage of screaming, screechy kids that were not disciplined in any way. One local told me they get to come at a cost of $2.50 Canadian per day to enjoy the facilities and all you can eat and drink . Kids stay and eat for free. They butt into line, overcrowd the buffet, causing long line ups to enter the buffet because their tickets had to be checked. Buffet was open, but nothing had be started on the grill. On the weekends the locals would commandeer the serving lines and it would take at least 20 minutes to get some food. I was told by staff the locals were vaccinated, but I believe this only applied to the adults. Each couple had at least 4 kids. Covid is spread by screaming and yelling. The kids would play tag, screaming at each other, unmasked, and throw their beach toys around in the buffet and staff did nothing to address the issue. Temperature check was done upon entering the buffet followed by use of hand sanitizer. Most of the time this was a mere formality since the temp reading was not even looked at. There is absolutely no social distancing entering the buffet, waiting for food, getting served at the bar. Masks had to be worn to enter the buffet, get your food or get drinks from the bar. The bars strictly enforced proper mask wearing, but in the buffet, only upon entering, after that on your chin or just over your mouth was okay. Our area had 3 stalls in the public/guest washroom to accommodate 6 buildings, roughly 360 rooms. Better to go back to your room to use the washroom. The locals over took the washroom on weekends and used the stalls as their change room. Half an hour into lunch, the greeter showed m the clip board with the number of locals already in the buffet. The count was 95 not including children. On weekends, you are lucky to get a table at the buffet, midweek NO PROBLEM. We made sure we had a la carte tickets for every weekend. The locals congregated in groups of 20-30, blocking walk ways and stairs. They ran up to the bar shouting their orders and got served first. No kids in the adult only pool was only enforced if they voluntarily left after being told. Check in/out takes at least 20 minutes and that is after you reach the counter.. You get a flimsy paper wrist band that is covered by a hint of plastic that costs $200US if lost. Wifi $7US per day. Safe almost $3US per day. Food redundant, a la carte hit and miss. At one a la carte the waitress went and grabbed toilet paper from the public washroom to wipe up my spilt balsamic vinegar. Cabanas and lounge chairs reserved by 7am with personal items, not to have anyone using them for 5-6 hours. Dead bug evidence over all the walls. One tiny garbage can per room. Some rooms smelt so moldy or were so dirty guests would ask to change rooms. Ice bucket, but no ice in building. Bring a wrench to open the water bottles that were supplied. bar fridge in each room. Individual soap/shampoo/conditioner/body cream supplied. Rooms cleaned daily. Free shuttle service around the resort which is a hot bed for spreading Covid as most had masks just on their chin. Artificial environment, just trying to sell time shares. $50US per taxi to get off the resort to get into the city as it is not in walking distance. Locals mounded their plates so full of food we called it the Dominican Food Bank/ Soup kitchen. The quality of food definitely was poorer on the weekends. Canadians need to pay 79US$ each for a Covid test to get back into Canada. My guess is that the resort lets in at 300 - 500 locals per day. I emailed the resort to get the correct figure, but they have not responded. Often at the buffet my soup was cold by the time wait staff gave me a spoon, not to mention the three times I was given a plastic spoon. A few occasions our meal was done before we were served our beverage. Wait staff looked over the diners instead of looking at them, more interested in what was going on outside. We will not come back here due to the number of rude, self centered locals allowed in each weekend. I was told on the airplane by others at different resorts they had the same problem.

We enjoyed our time and the best was all the staffs. Always helping with a big smile. The food was great we enjoyed Rodizio 2 times ,Bellini,Blue Lagoon,Casablanca and pearl buffet was great. indochine was just ok. The resorts was big and nice. The beach wasn't big but we did enjoyed the waves and the VIP section with the cabana and jacuzzis was amazing. Drinks,food,sushi and again great service.

I just retuned from spending 3 weeks at the Tropical Beach Resort Puerto Plata and it was amazing! The food was great, staff was friendly, entertainment crew was great, it was clean and everything from the shows to the Welcome Party to everything thing they did was over the top amazing! Property is huge! I need to go back to see what I missed!!

We vacationed at Lifestyle Tropical beach resort from February 10th to the 17th 2020. This is my 3rd trip to Puerto Plata resorts and this was by far my best trip. We ate at the main buffet every night because we were so pleased with the food. Our room was clean, no issues whatsoever. The bed was decent but keep in mind it's a Caribbean resort so you shouldn't expect top of the line mattresses. Pools were cool as most large pools are but I spent 3-4 hours a day in the pools. Service was over the top. Keep in mind that this resort is part of 5 others so if you are exploring the other 4 expect lots of walking. In my case I only stayed on the Tropical grounds and was a 2 minute walk from everything except the beach. I have a bad knee and am overweight so the walk down to the beach and the walk up was somewhat difficult for me. The beach is a typical Puerto Plata North beach. If you want white sand go to Punta Cana.

Very clean grounds and all public areas. Staff and waiters all very accommodating, pleasant and helpful! Our room was a superior room and very private corner unit away from the noise of the pool area which is what we wanted. Great room! loved our balcony overlooking the gardens with no other building opposite us!! Food was mediocre at the buffet and perhaps a bit more variety could be offered. All very nicely displayed however and fresh. There was no concern about the drinking water or the vegetables being washed in purified water, all was good here. The specialty restaurants were excellent! Our room service was also great! Coffee and bottled water brought daily to our rooms. The evening entertainment lacked however . Enjoyed the bingo and piano nights though. Can't express enough how wonderfully clean the entire resort was!! Excellent. Beach was also very clean and free from people trying to sell things. loved the tanning beds.

I know there is many mixed reviews about this resort but don’t listen to them. It was my second time and I will go back again, the entertainment is always great and if you want to just relax there’s many areas for that as well. Also this resort is a party, and has kid friendly areas as well as adult only area’s. The welcome party is absolutely crazy had the best time and the best food that night. I definitely recommend this resort if you’re planning on visiting puerto plata

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort the week of January 20 for my Birthday Celebration. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. We were in building 5, it was up to date and really clean. The staff was amazing and friendly. They treated me extra special on my Birthday. The food was delicious and flavorful. The drinks were plentiful and strong. There were Peacocks among the beautiful picturesque views. The property is an oasis away from the winter blues. The Ying & Yang Spa was delightful. The staff were professional, and the massages and facial treatments were great. I would recommend their services. Their smoothies were delicious. The gym was clean and had nice equipment. The sauna and jacuzzi were really clean and relaxing. The VIP Beach was amazing. The hammock cabanas were our favorite. As we could relax by the water and sway to the ocean breeze. The waitstaff at the beach were wonderful with our drinks and food orders. The entertainment staff did a great job keeping us entertained. The Michael Jackson tribute show was well done (so talented). There was something scheduled every day aerobics, bingo, karaoke, volleyball, water sports etc. There was never a dull day. We took the tour to see the VIP Member offer. I have been to many other tours at different resorts as I travel every year for my birthday, but this tour was my favorite. We will be back to definitely purchase the membership. We read a lot of the comments before booking and could understand some complaints, nothing to ruin your vacation. Some visitors are rude and others are nice (keep that in mind). We had no complaints. We loved our stay. We tipped generously when we were treated nicely. They appreciate the little things and will remember you. We would definitely recommend this Hotel.

Resort was great overall. Staff are very friendly and accommodating! Rooms need updating but still it was comfortable staying there. Our rooms was cleaned everyday, towels are changed and in room drinks are refilled often. There are fun activities to do everyday in the resort which makes 7day vacation enjoyable and worthwhile.

I have been to this resort 3 times, this would be my forth. This time was not a pleasant trip. I called numerous times and visited the front lobby asking for towels in my room on the first day my family and I got to the hotel. I had to wait 2 days for bathroom towels and beach towels, till I finally was given them in my room. I had NO towels for 2 days. And after that, I still had to call everyday for towels. Literally every single day for bathroom towels. I found cockroaches in my room. The food was very disappointing. Not only did my husband and I get sick but the food was either disgusting or tasted funny. There was no selection. It was a 2 star type of buffet. This hotel has excellent staff during the mornings and afternoons. The evening staff are not as helpful and sometimes can be rude. I was no impressed this time around and I absolutely will not be returning.

I have been going to the DR for many years and this Hotel by far is one of the biggest I have ever stayed at. Lifestyles is a beautiful well maintained resort with wonderful staff. Food at the buffet was great, drinks were delicious, shows were entertaining, rooms were clean. Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10. There were a couple of things that I was not pleased with. My mini fridge was not restocked daily as advertised, water pressure in the shower was not that great, I got very sick after eating in the Chinese restaurant (so just stuck to the buffet) I also didn't like the fact that there were no lounge chairs on the beach. I am a beach person and like to have my chair down on the sand for when I come out of the water. You had to ask security to pass one to you over the wall and then you had to drag it along the beach to where you wanted to sit. These were all minor problems and in no way ruined my vacation. Only other downfall is for people with mobility issues. The resort is so big and there are hundreds of golf carts but not everyone has access to use them if you are not VIP so it's hard to get around. There is a shuttle but I believe it runs every 25 minutes so u do spend a lot of time waiting around to get from place to place within the resort.

Our hotel room was in pristine shape. The grounds were impeccable The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating Food was delicious. Plenty of fish and meat dishes. Many pools. This was our fifth trip to the resort. In the past, the wine had been substandard. Great improvement in wine selection this year

Generally the management is making the resort to go down. Needs new ideas and new team to better organize this facility, otherwise the investment will loose money. Asked receptionists for nights event (example location for “Welcome party” on Sunday night ?) and they don’t know anything or they will tell you something else! They will give you usually direction to Dome, which is a totally different party$$$! Are they temporary hired there? Disappointed. Do not come back and do not recommend.

The resort is beautifully situated with a great view of the ocean. The staff was very friendly and ready to assist. The resort it self is in good shape the buffet and spa were also very nice. The lobby needs sprucing up and gives a bad reflection of the rest of the resort . The room that we had did need some work. The air conditioning dripped all over the floor and there was a moldy smell in the future.The matrices were very hard and need to be replaced. With a few upgrades I think the resort would definitely be up to a 4 and 1/2 * standard.

We arrived on March 15.2019 on hour early flew with Transat great flight. We got to the resort checked in with Angel(Male-spelling could be wrong sorry!). Very friendly outgoing and so helpful... we had a great bellboy service helped with our bags to our room. Upon seeing our room we were so surprised it was monetized very clean and very nice room 2104. Close to everything. We began the first couple of days spending time at the VIP beach where they had day beds...but get up early to stand in line if you want a bed for the day because they go fast. The service at the VIP beach was outstanding thanks to Rachel and Jorge...great food at the snack bar.. chicken wings and fries and so much more. We met amazing people in Dominica which we will keep in contact with such nice friends. Next couple days we spent at the pool adult pool was very quiet and relaxing again get up really really early if you want a bed for this section. Bufett was great food was good a lot of selection. Roberto was a great server and so funny! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ROBERTO!... the Yin Yag Spa wa also nice at Confessi...great massage and relaxation. When you get offered a spa on the because dont take the 1st one the prices very. And once you purchase you can use the facilities all week. They have a small casino on the resort as well. It was fun. At night you could try to sit at the pool bar but there are only about 6 tables so good luck. They need more places to sit at night..more chairs and tables. There is one other place and that is to the left of the lobby bar there are about 5 tables there but they could have more there is enough room. All and all I would definately recommend to stay at Lifestyle Tropical resort and spa. Don't read the other bad reviews because I did and it's nothing like they say..so enjoy your week we sure did. Thanks Lifestyles for making our week so great!

Our two weeks vacation at the Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort and Spa in Puerto Plata was very enjoyable and fun. The food was great in all buffet and a la carte restaurants. The grounds were clean and beach area well kept and organized. The staff showed excellent and friendly client service and we had plenty of activities to keep us busy and well entertained. Having access to the Confresci Palm Beach Resort also allowed us to see and do more things. The shuttle services around the resorts were very convenient and always accessible. In regards to what should be improved, there should be more lounging chairs around pool areas and the beach area for non VIP members should be bigger. The one issue we had was that we had to change rooms twice due to problems with mould in room 2011 and 5236. These issues need to be fixed and further addressed with management. We did speak to management about this issue and they did accommodate us with room 2111 which was in the end ok, very clean, had good ventilation, no mould and little humidity.

Hello, I was hesitant when I booked this hotel as I realized some sites showed 3* and some showed 4*. Well to my surprise I have to give this a 4* and beyond. Sunwing flight was simple - don't expect too much as you know you get what you pay for - service was good for what it was. When we got there someone greeted us from Sunwing made everything pretty straight forward. Bus ride was also pretty straight forward. We had to wait until 3pm to get checkin however we ended up having lunch and had brought swim suites / shorts in the hand carry on so we felt comfortable in our new gear while we waited. The room was extremely modern with good size two double beds and the shower / bathroom was also very nice - no complaints. The place is big and gorgeous. Lots of activity for the kids - they love the pool so the basket ball and volleyball is all set up in the pool all day - My husband and I bounced around between hanging with them in the pool / beach and adult pool. The beach beds are REAL beds with canopy. All in all very good. We did NOT get bothered by VIP deals - in fact I skipped the next day oreintation partly so that they won't know I'm an outsider and track me down for sales. Also there's nothing you need to know in the orientation that will aid you. We go south every year so to us it's the same speech but like I said best you avoid it - so you don't get hasseled by sales reps. My husband and I did a couples massage which was nice. There's re stores on the beach but I recommend the store in the hotel - prices in some cases for souvenirs is cheaper in the stores. The drinks and the foos is GREAT! Cappacino / Shaggy - great guys with lots of energy!!! Did some water arbics with Shaggy and on the ground. There's spanish classes to learn spanish every day at 10am. Kids and I decided to try this out one morning. The nightly shows are your usual but really good shows. MUST try Sunday evening welcome event outside of the hotel - but a bus will take you there - the spread for this event is outstanding. The show as well. It's a must! One last thing I want to say that I was not too amused by the cats in the restaurants. I don't mind them outside but inside unfortunately I had to leave some reserved dinners because of this. However I realize lots of people don't mind this but it was problomatic for me. EIther way great vacay!

The food, staff, quality, pools are so amazing! We travel here 2-3 times a year and always stay at this hotel/resort. The games and animation staff are great. However, they need to update the music. I would like to hear more Bachata and Salsa since I am in the Dominican Republic. I don't want to hear old 80/90's music (example: titanic song & rhythm of the night)

This resort is my favorite. Every time we travel to Puerto Plata we stay at this resort. The staff is friendly, the cleaning staff is amazing. The food could be better but its better than most resorts I have been too.

We found the resort great we were there for two weeks ,our room was a bit dated , but only slept in it. We spent 95 percent of our time on the beach. Bartender jorjie at the tropical beach bar made the best Lubumba drinks . The Casablanca buffet was the best. Food was always fresh . They had a few special dinner nights that were great the VIP pool party one night , but the welcome party is a must. The real downfalls were the Internet only free at the beach area, the closing of the beach at 6 pm, and the constant pushy time share guys. They learned quick to not bug us again. Oh the entertainment was just ok . And the night snack place was not so great. But all in all we met great people ,shared many drinks and dinners with them . I would return at any time

The main draw is the great food, terrific staff and 19 pools! U always have a place to lounge without having to get up early and save a spot. Timeshare workers will leave u alone if u say u did it before. Just say no a few times and they leave u alone or go on the tour on a rainy day. It’s interesting but not something we want to do. I think the rooms at Cofressi are nicer as we’ve stayed in both sides. Not a nice beach but the pools make up for it. We love it and will go back again and again.

Rooms were really outdated at tropical, which was given to Us but we wanted and booked in conferessi. Food was good, even buffet had Asian and Mexican theme and food tasted good (salt could be less;)). The shower would make the whole bathroom wet and there was no fan in little tiny bathroom. The rooms are done only if signs are posted othewsise ignored.

We had a wonderful time at the tropical. Easy check-in, great rooms, beach was amazing, Casablanca was even better than last year. The beach was great and drinks and food serviced right to your beds. No complaints at all.

This was our 3rd time at this resort - 3 of 6 bldgs and the buffet have been upgraded. Our room was not in the newer bldgs but was more than adequate(clean & comfortable). Grounds are spotless. The VIP beach is wonderful (beds always available) but the beds are not right on the beach. Covered cabanas at the adult pool are the best. Restaurants are nice and the food is very good. Although the buffet did get a bit boring after 2 weeks. Staff are the absolute best!! It feels like coming home to see old friends.

We’ve gone to this resort for the past 2 years. We love it here. The grounds are beautiful and food is excellent. All staff are kind and inviting. Beach is beautiful. We had a minor issue with our room (air conditioning stopped working) and the staff were quick to resolve the problem. They sent a complimentary fruit tray to our room for our troubles and checked in to make sure our stay was going well. Lots of restaurants and activities to choose from also.

Overall pretty good, food good, service good, pools nice but weird access to beach and very small beach communication and welcome information lacking as it is such a large resort never been a fan of lining up for dinner reservations

We had a fabulous time and a great and relaxing vacation. The grounds were very well kept, the rooms were good, the food was awesome and we loved the vip beach with the beds and the great service!!!! The shows at night were all good and the entertainment staff work very hard. A little tip goes a long way and the staff deserved it!!!!! I definitely would recommend this resort to anyone. The only thing I didn’t like was all the different wrist bands, would be nice to have another system than having to wear those ugly bands

The food was great, lots of selection. service was awesome, the staff are friendly and helpful. Always greeting you with a smile. Entertainment every night. The beds on the vip beach was my favorite part. I would recommend this resort and I would definitely go back!

We arrived late on the first day . Once we were checked in the desk staff told us the staff at the buffet were waiting for us so we could eat ! That was definitely appreciated after traveling all day. Our room was clean and well stalked with towels. Fridge always had cold beverages Wait staff and bartenders were always helpful. Pool and surrounding area was clean and always lots of lounge chairs to be found .although not always enough umbrellas for shade . Activity staff always had fun activities to join in on . If you get a chance go to the foam party in the main pool total blast !! As is the welcome party at the dome and the open air buffet dinner and concert . Cabanas near the beach were clean and always had fresh towels. Staff at the beach level were great . Wasn't impressed with the beach. It was clean and maintained but no lounge chairs to sit by the water . Not much distance between the retaining wall and waters edge . When it was high tide the water was to the stairs . Our last day we didn't fly out till 8pm but we had to check out of our rooms by 1pm. Once we checked out our bracelets were cut off and we were told we could only access areas other then the lobby til 3pm . Leaving us 2 hours to just sit and wait . We were told we could keep our bracelets but we'd have to leave either our passports of another form of ID. Sorry but I'm not leaving my ID with anyone . Over all we were happy with the resort . Just didn't like loosing those 2 hrs .

I have stayed at this resort 2 times previously, a few years ago, and I liked it then. But what they have done with the place is phenomenal!! We had an amazing, better than expected experience, the food is actually noteworthy if not very good now, and the staff are all very attentive, happyand friendly and not in a fake way either! It's also an extremely well maintained and clean complex. The price has not increased in 10years, but after this last visit we will be going back next year, and wouldn't even be upset by a price increase. It's well worth it!!

Very well maintained grounds,fairly friendly staff. Rooms are basic,but clean (did find one roach and had to be out of our room the next day by 9 am for it to be sprayed,not sure what they used but my wife and I had sore throats that night and next morning). We were bothered a couple of times for the timeshare but nothing serious. We paid about $2,000 Can. per couple, great price and we had a great time. Our biggest complaint would be no nightlife after 10pm. Food at the buffet was very good and changed every day We were with Air transat our flight was delayed for several hours,but we were not informed (nor had it been posted by Freddie our air transat representative) and at one time was told we missed our bus by the front desk,not gonna lie kinda freaked us out for awhile and front desk did not help at all.

Lovely stay at this resort drinks were the best at vip bar and beach was awesome people are friendly and willing to help you in any way . You need to reserve your a la carte on Sunday if you can or you miss out Only one complaint hard to get hold of transat agent to reserve any excursions

Staff was friendly, resort was clean, food was amazing. Only downfall for this is it is far from everything except Ocean world. Very expensive to take taxi. Not much to do on resort itself and beach was only so so. No chairs on beach area. Alot of stairs to get beach. Not much walking space to walk along beach side. They only stock the fridge once a week. no refill of pop or beer.

The resort is very secure with guards, beautiful room with balcony, lots of dressers, buffet staff very friendly and food fabulous. Brazilian a la carte a must to go (book immediately) ..skewers of ribs, prime rib, chicken, turkey..yum! VIP BEACH is lovely with plenty of canopy beds, sushi bar, 4 jacuzzi's, snack bar and free wi-fi there only. There are steps so you'll get your exercise. Beach is small and wavy. Buy your souvenirs at last and 2nd last when you walk left on beach- good deals and get your excursions there too..cheaper than hotel cost..but look on expedia.ca and book excursion before you travel. cheaper. Animation team was fabulous and full of energy and made you smile. Many pools to choose from but get a lounger for when there is the FOAM or COCONUT party at Tropical. Shows at the Confesi were very good. Try to see Michael Jackson show Fri. night. It rained every day Feb. 6-13 so shows that were to be at the Colosseum on Tropical were transferred to Confesi. shuttles came quick or a 5 min walk. VIP party at the Dome by Ocean World is a MUST..Dancing, drinking, singing, robots, amazing costumes, then show on upper level..like Los Vegas..then afterwards more dancing, drinking..a great night. I would definitely go back. Bring an umbrella to be safe. Thanks Melvin Ventura for making my trip more special.

The grounds and facilities are extreme clean. The employee service at all restaurants, buffets and bars are consistently excellent. The quality of food is supremely great!!! The rooms are cleaned very well each day with fresh new linen. We've been here 6 times, and we don't have a "time share" with them. So you know we are not submitting this review as a sales pitch, but rather a great place to vacation for your dollar:) Thank you Lifestyles for a great vacation! The grounds, rooms, features are awesome. The horrible part is to be subjected to techno-music everywhere, all the time. We cannot listen to Nature but a constant beat called music. Good food, very small beach.

We went to check in and got upgraded to the confresi the rooms were beautiful very modern and clean and very big rooms...just was disappointed that we didn’t get our bottle of rum when checking in I had to ask them twice and then a third time for it....fridge was only stocked once with two beers we left tips in fridge and they took it and didn’t refill the fridge all they do is replenish your water at times and if you wanted it you had to request it. We thought u would get atleast two beers and pop n water daily but you don’t at this resort...the resort is great the food was excellent except the Italian wasn’t a big fan of. The staff and entertainment people were awesome made our trip a lot of fun. But unfortunately at this resort you also get told if you loose your bracelet it’s a$200 U.S charge which two people had bracelets ripping and another lost there bracelets once found it....got a new one and second time around completely lost it. Sad to say we had to pay aside from that everything would of been excellent. I would recommend this resort but highly say to keep an eye on ur bracelets. We paid half the price in early dec compared to what it is after dec 15

This was my second trip to this resort and I would recommend it to anyone Staff are friendly and grounds are well maintained. I'm sure the renovations underway will make it even better The only challenge we had was with some of the shuttles the pools were great but it would be nice if the beach was raked.

What an experience, I can honestly say, this trip was amazing and all that credit goes to the resort and their staff, what a great group of people and service, I would highly recommend it! The food was amazing, especially the blue lagoon was terrific, the pools were clean and fun, the activities within the resort including the shows at night were amazing!

Frist time to a all inclusive resort and we loved it .Anything we needed we just asked and they would try to find it for us ,food was awesome ,always had entertainment every night which the boys loved ,the staff loved the boys and interacted with them at all times of the day .one issue and the only issue I had was room service only came twice the whole week even when I had the sign one the door to have the room cleaned but the two times it was cleaned it was awesome .the boys and I are for sure going back at the end of this year. Even though they came back sick from the trip they are excited to return .I will be booking with Tanya once again as she was very helpful and gave me a few pointers which were helpful.

The resort is in need of a total upgrade. The rooms are old, and musty. YOu have to pay to rent a safe in your room, and the keys are so old, ours broke the first time we tried to use it. We took it back to the front desk and they scotch taped it. The resort lacks places to sit, especially at the bar areas and entertainment areas. If you are not a member, you cannot use all the restaurants, bars, or beaches. We had to go to the lobby every morning to book the restaurant that we wanted to dine in for that day only, and we got whatever was left over after the members had booked theirs. We needed two wristbands to wear at all times, one for the all inclusive, and one for the transportation to get to parts of the resort. The resort brings in guests by helicopter which lands on the property, but after having 5 helicopters a day land, it gets pretty irritating and loud. However, the food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment at the resort ended at 9pm, then you had to take transportation to the Colosseum to continue with more entertainment. Since the resort is a time share, salesmen are bugging you from the minute you walk in, till the day you leave to go for a tour, to buy or to come with them to show you the time share properties. We were on vacation, and we do not want to be bothered by this, but they always hung out to the exit of the buffet, and chased you down every time! Our frig in the room was never stocked the whole week we were there, we had to leave a note for them to leave us water on our second day. On our first day, the room was not even cleaned. They came around 5pm and asked if we wanted it done then, while we were getting ready to go for dinner.

My husband and I stayed at Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort. we had amazing time they had given us building 6 which was one of the best ones. The room and the decor was a bit out dated but always clean, fridge was stock up as well as extra towels. its always good to know your house keeper and also good to tip them. Bring lots of tip money !!! I was lucky that I can speak Spanish we where able to communicate with the staff in the resort. They charge $20 for a safe lock key for the week First day you will see staff at breakfast inviting you to show you the resort. Its all about getting you to join the VIP club which is time sharing !!! .We took two day trips, one was 1/2 day to visit the town the other one was extreme water falls..I highly recommend this one.

Rooms were non functional old and used had to call to repair..showers, unlocked patio door, room air etc. Meals were excellent.....pool area very noisy boom boom music all the time not a restful or peaceful vacation

We traveled as a group of 12 adults and 2 toddlers and availed a total of 6 rooms at the Lifestyle Tropical Resort. My friend and I, both have toddlers in tow, were assigned in Building#1. Rooms were dated which I can live with and was actually able to tolerate. However, the water pipes in the toilet when you flush makes a loud noise afterwards, comparable to that of a pipe about to burst. I called for the maintenance 3 times. First on our first night soon after we checked in and got settled in our room. I didn't know what it was and was afraid that it would actually burst. The toilet made that sound every time we flushed the toilet the whole time we were there. We tolerated that...it goes away after a couple of minutes. Second call was on our final evening, after using the toilet, the noise wouldn't go away for over 30mins and it was already 2am, it got so loud it woke up my daughter! Lastly, I called for the maintenance because the blow dryer, which is provided in the hotel room, all of a sudden had sparks flying while I was using it and almost burned some of my hair! Water pressure was on and off, and sometimes no hot water which was an issue bathing a 2 year old. Our other friends got rooms at buildings #2 and #3 and they're a bit newer in some essence. No water pressure or temperature issue or loud noises on the pipes after using the toilet. Also, on our last day, we were provided a "hospitality suite" to change and get ready as we had to check out of our hotel rooms at 12noon, but our flight was not until later in the evening. One of the rooms we got as a "hospitality suite" is on Building#5, and it's a lot newer!!! Newer everything. I am not sure how the room assignment are given during booking but if you can ask your travel agent to at least avoid Building#1. The resort is nice and clean. Lots of pools. Cabanas in the VIP beach area is amazing. Food is delicious...check out Belini, Italian restaurant, for one of your a la carte dinners. Housekeeping does a good job in cleaning our hotel room all the time. Staffs are attentive, friendly and accommodating. Overall, the resort is good. Just the rooms.

It was our first all inclusive vacation and I would definitely go back. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Every where I went they made sure we were well taken care of. I was so sad to leave. Overall amazing experience:)

I really have no complaints other than the washrooms could have been bigger. The food was good. The staff was polite. One thing I would change is to have entertainment during the day as well and everyone should have access to equal property

It is a great resort. The food and the service is execellent. I recommend to anybody that wants to have some relaxing time. This was my second time in the same resort and I sure that will not be the last time. Lifestyle Resort became my favourite place to go for vacation.

We had a great time on our trip to the Lifestyles Tropical Beach Resort. We found the resort to be huge and were a little disappointment to find all of the children activities at the Cofresi side of the resort. We had to take a shuttle to the better kids pool and activities. We found that some areas were beautifully upgraded and others were not. It was not consistent, but understand that it is a work in progress. Some of the staff were very pushy to have guests sign up for a membership, we felt hounded some days. With that said, we did receive a decent welcome gift when listening to their presentation. On another note our son had a great time and never complained, so that is the most important aspect for us. He never wanted to leave the pool! The water temperatures were great and loved the modern look of the caves and waterfalls. If were to go back we would book on the Lifestyle Cofresi side because of our little one.

Hotel grounds were fabulous. Pools very nice. VIP beach was nice with the sun beds. Buffet meals were ok but a la cartes were great. The rooms could use a little upgrading. The service was very good everybody was always willing to help.

Even though we were at the Tropical instead of the Confesi Resort . we still had a wonderful time . The resort staff was very respectable and Friendly . We enjoyed the animators even though we missed Speedy but did see him on occasion. A Very special thanks to Papi . Lenny,, Jorge. Romeo and Candy Love . We will try to come back again soon.
