Nice pools great beach our room was goid the bathroom needs work bed was comfortable there was a language bearer alotvof times the bar staff were great the food truck at the beach was nice over all a great holiday

Hotels, grounds and public areas very clean and well maintained. A lots trees flowers and spaces in shade for walking. Every day new entertainment. Theatre has enough seats for all people. Staff were very friendly and professional. Wifi working perfectly in rooms restaurants and public areas. For sure we will recommend this resort to our friends and family.

This is our second time at this resort and it does not disappoint. I highly recommend it. Great service. Food is very good with a big selection. The restaurants are very good too. Clean spacious rooms with beautiful grounds and pools. The beach is steps away and beautiful. I would definitely be returning in the future.

My partner and I have travelled to many different all-inclusive resorts and I can honestly say that this was our worst experience. The service at this resort is terrible. We were never asked if we wanted drinks and when we did ask a server once, it took over 45 mins to get 4 drinks. There is only one bar that is open late which is located in the main lobby and there was always a line for drinks that was no less than 25 people. Every other resort that we have gone to, our glasses never went empty and we were always asked if we wanted or needed anything. Sadly the food was no better. Our worst experience was at the Mexican a la carte and we ended up walking out of the restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible. Everyone in the restaurant was getting served their desserts and we still had not received our dinner and every time we asked, we were told a few more mins. This went on for 20 more mins before we finally gave up and just left. The Italian a la carte was a huge disappointment as nothing tasted good at all. It really isn't hard to prepare pasta and since the pasta at the buffet wasn't bad, we assumed that this would be a hit...it was a complete miss! With the reviews we read online, we were excited to try the food truck down at the beach. The burgers were disgusting, they were a strange texture and had chunks in them. The hot dogs were very mushy in texture and were not served hot. The pools at this resort were dirty, there was always a ton of debris and bugs floating in them. The only pool that offered any shade was the pool near the main lobby and it was disgusting. The pool itself, was like a wading pool and too shallow to even enjoy. We had a swim up room so we ended up just going to that pool every day but the only problem was that there was shade on half of the pool until about noon and then you were in full sun with no shade at all. I will say that the bartenders at that pool bar (near swim up rooms) were absolutely fantastic. Another major issue we had, which we had never experienced before was that we had to get out of the pool to get our drinks and walk about 50 feet on extremely hot concrete to go to the bar. Usually they have people coming around the pool asking if people want a drink but at this resort they did not. The alcohol at this resort was not great. We understand that it is a family resort but there should be a pool with a pool bar in it dedicated to adults only. There should be adult only sections and then sections that are kid friendly. If you were not into drinks filled with sugar there wasn't really any options. The beer that was on tap had a very strange sour taste to it which turned us off completely. We tried the beer at every bar and it was all the same. The room was not clean, the bathroom was so dirty, the tub/shower had grime and the sink still had tooth paste in it from what I assume was from previous guests. The bed was like sleeping on a rock and we had to ask for extra blankets to put on the bed to try to make it more comfortable. This was also the first resort that we have gone to that in room coffee was not replenished. You had it upon arrival and then after that you had to purchase it from the store on resort if you wanted to make yourself a coffee in the morning. We will not be returning to this resort and we will not be recommending this resort to any of our family and friends. For the money we paid, it was not worth it at all and we have never had such a bad experience.

The resort is beautiful. Lots of pool chairs. Good food. Staff seem very disengaged and not interested in providing goos service. Tip or no tip makes no difference in how you are treated. Many staff do not speak or understand English but that should not be expected for every staff

I didn’t expect to have such a wonderful vacation. Everything was nearly perfect. With this reasonable price and have a very good services, nice beach, beautiful landscap, good foods and many more……. I am very satisfied with this experiences.

My husband and I loved many things about the resort, the beach is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate . We enjoyed all the animals. Our Junior suite was very spacious and we enjoyed the beautiful view from our balcony. The not so desirable qualities of Vista Sol resort. We found some but not all staff rude. Which I feel is poor management there should be more supervision to see what areas are having the problems. No service at the buffet. Long coffee and juice lineups. The smoking areas were right next to all the areas of the non smokers, lobby area, Buffet, beach so you may breath in alot of secod hand smoke. Our bed in our Junior Suite was large but so hard and uncomfortable with 2 sheets and a worn out thin blanket. The towels were rough and worn out. The fridge didnt keep our beverages cold. The air conditioning didnt seem to be working properly. The worst part is which we thought were mosquito bites were actually bed bug bites. I went to my physician the day after I returned home and he confirmed bed bug bites. My husband and I had over 100 bites between us. I seen many other people on the resort with the same bites! Sorry to say they are not mosquitoes! The resort has so many pros but the cons outweigh and win. We wont be returning to Vista Sol

Just returned home Feb 9 after one week stay. The pros, great staff, friendly people. The food was very good in the buffet, some repetitive. Drinks were good and plentiful. Free wifi in the hotel lobby and out by the main pool. Check in was quick. Also the ala cartes were very good and included in your price. They weren’t sticklers for men’s attire. The pools are clean, 1 large busy loud games etc, the other 2 smaller and quiet. The grounds are lush and immaculate. There are peacocks and ducks walking around. There is a bird sanctuary and a large iquana pen. We saw one show and it was very good. The washrooms all over the resort are very clean. The resort is very compact and laid out close together. There is a store, cigar store. A casino is coming apparently. The weather is lovely, we did have some rain but at night there was no humidity or mosquitoes! The cons, the rooms were clean but outdated especially the furniture. Our room had a musty smell that never went away. The beds and pillows are awful. The main pool , everyone gets up early and puts their towels on the chairs even though there are signs saying no reserving chairs. The beach is not very big because it’s been eroded from storms. The chairs are up from the beach and it’s ridiculously crowded on top of one another, not enough chairs. It’s not a quiet relaxing atmosphere at all. This hotel has the worst beach , you can walk either way and the beaches are wide and less crowded. This is the first vacation I’ve spent at a pool, a lot disappointed. The water was always rough with strong undertows, no seaweed. I’m attributing the long lineups for buffet, drinks and chairs possibly because of the time of year. I believe it was reading week and I’ve never travelled in February. We will go again maybe Oct/Nov to see if it’s different.

We visited this hotel during the first week of July, 2023. I would suspect that all the bad reviews have come from the fact that people just got stuck with a terrible room. We met hotel guests that were very unhappy with their stay, and complained about their room, the main complaints were that the air conditioning did not work, or that the room smelled of mold. In our particular case we had no issues, and the room was OK, except for the fact that we could not just adjust the air conditioning and that the ventilator in the bathroom sounded very loud and rumbled like a motorcycle when you turned it on With respect to the food, it was a bit disappointing, as I have been to other resorts in Punta Cana, which had much better food. I think the food was geared towards Americans, and many of the meats, were saturated with sauces, and either ended up being too salty, too fatty, or too creamy . It was also repetitive. Pretty much the same thing every night. The main meat at the grill was pork chops. Although they did have chicken, the chicken was gone as quickly as it was put out. Surprisingly, for a hotel located in a country, which is surrounded by water, you would expect to see more seafood . There was not much seafood at the Buffet. The à la carte Restaurants were OK, but nothing special. We found ourselves going to the buffet after eating at the à la carte Restaurant. The nightly entertainment was typical of these resorts. The animation team was present at the beach, and typical of what I’ve seen at other resorts. The beach itself is Ok. never overcrowded or never had to fight to get a chair. I guess that’s the benefit of a smaller resort. Although there was some seaweed, you can’t blame that on the hotel, as the beach would’ve been almost perfect without the seaweed. But the water was still swimmable, just annoying to have seaweed hit you while you’re in the water. The big disappointment was the staff at the hotel , many of them did not speak English, and I heard staff speaking more French than English itself. When we first got there, our key to the room wasn’t working, and the problem was discovered to be a dead battery in the door mechanism. Something that should’ve taken five minutes to fix. I was first told it would be one moment. Then I was told half an hour. Then a few hours passed and nothing. After complaining to the check in folks they appeared not to care that we were locked out of our rooms. Thanks to Monica Léger, the guest services representative, who made this happen. It took several about three and a half hours for the problem to be solved. Although some people were polite, mainly at the à la carte restaurants, we found the majority of the staff that worked at the hotel were not friendly or sociable. Perhaps it was the language issue, or perhaps another issue such as bad management. To sum it up the hotel itself is not a bad hotel, just needs some work, and I guess your stay will depend on which building you are in or which room you get. As I have mentioned, some guests complained about the air conditioning, being too hot or too cold, and having room smelling of mold, but in our case, the room was almost perfect, except for the fact that we could not adjust the air conditioning, and that the ventilator in the bathroom was extremely loud. For the price we paid, I cannot complain. I could, however complain about Sunwing, as our flight was delayed 15 hours when we left Montreal. We lost an entire day and although the staff at the airport and on the plane indicators that it was due to a lack of resources or staff, a problem which many airlines are facing, Sunwing would not take responsibility, and blamed it on a mechanical issue with the plane ( which just happens to be safety related…an exception under Canadian legislation). We met guests who arrived on other days and many of them had the same issue having at least 12 to 15 hour delays when leaving Montreal to go to the Dominican Republic. Very disappointing with Sunwing, and I am hesitant to fly with them again considering that they won’t take responsibility. If you can avoid Sunwing and fly with another carrier, perhaps you may have a better experience. Although my understanding is that, since the pandemic is over, all airlines are facing the same issues. Sunwing just won’t take responsibility. And I hope they lose many customers, because they don’t treat their customers as they should. SHAME ON YOU SUNWING. YOU SURELY KNOW HOW TO TREAT YOUR CLIENTS. (I am being sarcastic …in case you didn’t get that).

Hotel is understaffed!!!! - Nearly got my eye scratched by thorny plants that were hanging over the walkways. - Had a glass of beer with a chipped edge and ended up with glass in my mouth. - Soap in bathroom turns into a pulverized mess when you try and use it. - Shower in room is horrible! Impossible to keep water from going everywhere! - No wake-up call available. - We rented the room safe, but the instructions from the front desk were terrible!!! - Italian restaurant food was awful. - Food in Sports Bar on beach was awful. - Unfriendly staff at towel hut! - Too many issues to mention! Will NEVER return to this resort.

We were at this resort on February 22, 2023 - March 1, 2023. We prefer smaller resorts, hence why we selected this one. Beach: The beach and sand was beautiful, but not nearly enough beachfront property for so many people. Packed in like sardines, if you could even find a chair. Vendors: Vendors, vendors and more vendors! We skipped going to the beach a few times cause they would harass you every few minutes no matter how many times you would say no thank you. Was surprised they were allowed on the actual resort property to harass you all the time! I do mean 'harass'!! Bar Service: Terrible lobby bar service. Didn't matter if you tipped or not. The bartenders paid more attention to each other than customers. Keep in mind if you enjoy beer, they only have Presidente draft beer and that is at all the bars. Drinks and beers are served in small plastic glasses and sometimes, the beer tasted soured. We actually went to a local store and bought beers for our fridge since service was so slow and they close exactly at midnight. note: only water is provided in your fridge (see below) Housekeeping: Rooms are not very clean. Bath mirror had not been cleaned all week and it was dirty when we got there. Shower has mold, dispensers were empty when we got there and not once refilled. They would forget to replenish towels and toilet paper of all things. We hid toillet paper so they would replenish!! They do not provide face cloths, just 2 bath sheets and 1 hand towel and that is for 2 people! Sheets had not been changed all week!! I actually threw my top sheet on the floor, thinking they would provide new sheets. They reused the top sheet from the floor!!!! We tipped every day and made no difference whatsoever. We were not provided with a Do Not Disturb sign for the door, so beware that housekeeping could walk in anytime! When I asked for one, they could not understand what I was asking for. Please note: They do not provide creamers for your coffee in the room. Sometimes they didn't even replenish the coffee in our room. They only provide water for your fridge. Hubby would take water from housekeeping carts because they would only leave us one bottle most of the time, and would leave the part opened bottle from previous day for coffee maker. Pool: The pools are beautiful, however be sure to get up by 6am to get a pool chair at the main pool. People would put towels on chairs and leave for the day. Out of a week stay, we were only able to obtain chairs once and that was because some people had left. They truly should keep on eye on that because chairs would sit empty from 6am to 6pm when the pool would close down for the night. Gounds: Very well kept and I will give them credit for that. Food: We only tried the Japanese Restaurant. Food was ok, but not really Japanese! Buffet was typical. Good variety, but seemed to be the same every day. Some food items didn't have a label, so who knows what was being served. No milk at the coffee machine, so you have to look for it around the buffet somewhere. You can't go in with swimsuits/coverups, so be prepared to change clothes all the time! I recommend the Food Truck on the beach as they made great burgers and fries. That food truck was much better than the actual buffet! Spa: The spa was amazing and recommend Dominicia! If it wasn't for the spa, I would give this resort a 1 out of 5. Things to do: We saw yoga, aquafit, etc classes on the beach, however we were never provided with a schedule, so we had no idea when anything was being offered. There isn't much to do at night. Pool bar had comedy shows or something, but only in French. Shows at the theater every night, and beach party twice a week. Be sure to go to the theater early cause you may not find a table or even chairs. Place gets packed because there isn't anything else to do. We will NEVER go back to this resort, nor would we ever recommend. I am disappointed in this place and should have gone somewhere else for $2025.00! I am giving this resort a 2.0 and that's because the spa was wonderful and for only that reason. Strongly recommend going to another resort and definitely NOT this one. PS: brings lost of money because they EXPECT to be tipped ALL the time!! Also, keep in mind that everything closes at midnight, so no snacks or drinks to be had.

checked in 7pm Wed 4 Jan/23 for 2 weeks and on Mon Jan 9/23 moved to the Royalton Splash for an added hotel fee of $1540.00 -and was happy to pay it. This was facilitated by the Sunwing rep- Luis- who took my full statement and sent it to Sunwing. The beach was a disaster -4-5 foot sand ridges with no way to get down thru a path to the beach area which had 2-3 foot high clumps of-seaweed piled up so that there was only an 2-3 foot strip of sand showing at the waves and the mosquitos and sand flees where unbelievable. I was so happy to see the grounds people about noon on Sat 7 Jan/23- from my room balcony- with wheelbarrows moving the seaweed from the beach that I went down and tipped about 9 of then three US dollars each, shook their hands and thanked them for making my holiday possible.. Thur 5 Jan/23 early Fri 6 Jan/23 about 3am I was woken up by a young English speaking male screaming "but I love you, I am in love with you, etc" out side my door- some body shut him down by 3.30am. I assumed it was some one coming back for the Disco who had too much to drink, and finally got back to sleep. The am after breakfast I went to guest services in the lobby and spoke to a young lady with mid length hair - She denied any noise and said that both the disco and the theater area where shunt down for renovations and where not operating -when I asked if there was a wedding or a private private party she said she was calling the entertain manager and said he said there was nothing going on the night before- she was very wooden and like she was reading a script she suggested and asked me if I had been dreaming or having a nightmare . I said no and left That night about 11pm i get woken up again -this time there is large theater like screen with pulsating fast fractral pictures and loud noise- boom boom with a base undertone -like a rave-and lots of people streaming up on the beach area by the childrens area- I have a perfect view from my balcony- so I take my camera -which has audio and film it . I finally get to sleep about 3am The next am I go back to guest services and speak to a lady with short curley hair at ear tip level and she again denies any noise or any thing going on -I do not tell her that I filmed it with audio That night about 11.30am- again the loud boom boom rave type noise this time I call the front desk- they deny the noise, I ask for security to go check, they call back and say it must be coming from off site- not them- I ask for a security guard to come to my room -I dress in a long caftan and put the camera and a different pair of glasses in a long black coat - they send a young guy- I advise him I will lead him direct to the noise - we start off and he disapears within 100 feet- I walk to the treater area and stand at the back- again fractal pictures on the screen and loud noise - I film with audio and walk about 100 feet to the lobby and speak to a young man and tell with I am not leaving the lobby until they shut it off - I sit at the guest services area-after about 20 minutes I decide this is stupid and I am going to have to go to another hotel-i go back to the young man and advise him i am leaving and will strip my safe and pack and check out of the hotel in the morning- I leave. I go to Sunwing and explain why I need a different hotel and I am packed and ready to go and know that I will have to pay extra for it, but I will not take being Gas light again or as I call it " given the crazy woman routine" I go to the front desk and explain I am checking out and want to speak to the Manager as I want find out his story as to what is going on -they say I can't talk to him until 1pm- I said fine I get to speal to him about 1pm- he says he is only the Front Desk manager -has nothing to do with what is going on and blames it all on Sunwing -Luis of Sunwing come over and we settle on a hotel- I give him my credit card- he confirms my hotel and the price. Luis gets me a bellman and a taxi and I move to the Royalton Splash. It like the difference from night to day and a real 4 star hotel-good room, no excessive noise and a clean beach -they make me happy -I have no complaints In the future I will check the reviews before I book a hotel oud

My 2nd time at Vista Sol. Great service and well laid out. Fantastic "A la carte dining" and tasty beach bar with food truck. Great beach with security everywhere. Prefer a smaller resort and knew the area well.

We love to stay in the Junior Suite !!! Amazing !!! the staff was SUPER!!! Great Holidays for me and my husband !!! Food very good !!! The beer and wine ..also good !!! The beach ...winderful !!! Good security at the hotel !!!

This was my 4th time at the Vista Sol, Punta Cana and once again we had a great time, with the exception of our Ocean view room. The first room, the air conditioner did not work, shower head was broken and the Ocean view I paid for was not an Ocean view, rather a view of Palm leaves with a brief look at the ocean depending on which way the wind blew, although a nice view not an Ocean View. The second room they gave us, the Air Conditioner worked well, but the view overlooking the roof tops of the resort next door, but if I sat and looked to the left I could see the ocean, my opinion a partial view. Every time we went out on the balcony, workers from the resort next door would yell at us. After multiple times back and forth to the front desk, I was told to come back at 1pm the next day, which I did and we were moved to an Ocean view room, where the air conditioner worked well. After the room issue was worked out, the remainder of the week was great.

As always, everyone here tries so hard to make your stay comfortable. It is obvious that Covid has hit the island with shortages but we still had a fabulous vacation. It took a couple tries to get a good room where everything was working but once we got settled in, we had a blast. Japanese, Italian and Mexican restaurants did a marvellous job. Great wine prices directly from the bar. We love this place and once again it welcomes us. Great job to the staff at Vista Sol. Always so happy and helpful.

Everything is great about this resort!!The sea view room was beautiful to have!! Three pools to enjoy ‘ All the staff was friendly! The food was very good overall! The gourmet cuisine was my favourite! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Buffet was amazing, something for everyone!! The reservation restaurants did not disappoint either. Pools beautiful and clean and a beach to die for. The rooms were spacious and always clean. Many bar areas which was good because this resort offered no poolside service :-( Our swim up room areas were left dirty all night more poor service. If I had to rate I would give this resort an 8/10, service not a deal breaker but would have been a nice bonus.

I booked a swim up room at this resort but there is no such thing here. All the entrance to the pool are on the opposite side of your patio doors, therefore you have to walk around the building, then walk around the pool to enter the water. They have no service at the buffet. If you want something to drink you have to get it yourself. Maids say they will bring towels in 5 minutes but you end up calling main lobby for someone to bring them while you wait. Woke up to a flood in my bathroom. Water was coming down from the ceiling light over the sink. All my toilettery and bag was soaked. My cell phone was plugged in and sitting on the bathroom counter and that was also wet. When you shower the so called shower door isn’t wide enough to prevent water from getting your floor all wet and there is mold and mildew . Beds and pillows are horrible to sleep on. They also don’t have designated smoking areas so one can imagine how suffocating it can be to sit at the amphitheater or main lobby. Now I understand why some of the customers keep going back! Just the place smokers love to go but if you are a non smoker it’s horrible.

This resort I would consider a 3 star maybe. The buffet food was terrible and the ala cartes were not much better. Rooms were clean but beds were uncomfortable. Maid left our patio door unlocked 3 times. Internet was only available free in one area and you had to rent this modem to carry around with you if you wanted it in your room which you had to put a deposit on and cost $10 a day in American money. Front desk staff were rude and not helpful and didn't understand or speak English enough. Was not great for people with disabilities. Lots of improvements needed here for sure. The entertainment was not great either

Pros - close to airport, clean rooms, enjoyed facing poolside where we were, staff friendly Cons - Chicken coop behind our rooms, rooster crowing from 5:15 am - extremely annoying - not rooster's fault - it was a rooster!! - Lobby renovated, but rooms very old and showing age - Worst, most hardest bed ever used. It was awful. - no beverage table service at main buffet. - Beef was terrible even at A La Carte

This was our third trip to Vista Sol. The beach and grounds are gorgeous, but the service has deteriorated. Our bathroom was never cleaned, drinking glasses in our room appeared to be rinsed only (still not clean), and the people working at the buffet were run off their feet. No one served coffee or wine - guests had to get their own, and it was rare to find a cleared table. I would expect this perhaps if the resort had been busy, but it really wasn't.

I really enjoyed our time there I even tried to stay longer! The food, entertainment, rooms, pools, beach and hotel staff were amazing! I would highly recommend this resort! Loved it! Next time I will stay longer as 7 days was too short. The fact you can also walk to everything was a big selling feature for us! Keep up the great service we will be back again!

This hotel is gorgeous!! You couldn’t ask for anything more. It is a perfect size, as it is not too large but certainly not small by any means. The pools are clean with ample room for everyone. Beach was STUNNING!! Very clean and tons of chairs for everyone. We were a large group and never had a problem finding space. Good was fantastic, especially the Mexican and Asian a la cartes!! My only complaint (and certainly didn’t hinder our vacation) our check in was a bit upside down unfortunately and did not go smoothly but was eventually sorted out... otherwise I truly couldn’t say enough good things about the staff! Bartenders and entertainment were always great!

We really enjoyed this resort. Nice and compact!! Everything was a short walk away...2 minutes tops. Food was good, there was lots of variety. The spaghetti at lunch and supper was amazing. We went to 4 of the 5 a la carte's and would recommend them. Asian, Mexican, Gourmet and Italian. We heard not great things about the American BBQ so we avoided it. The staff were polite and helpful. The best part was the beach...lots of sunbeds available so you never worried about finding one no matter what time of the day you went. Bathrooms need a bit of an upgrade but they still worked. We would go here again!!

The beach was covered in thistle, and dirt, the paths were muddy,the food was bad, we had NO water for 3 of our 7 days and only cold for 2 more. I paid for gold club and had the worst time. Never again.

Hard to compare to other resorts as this was the only one I've been to, but I had an absolutely amazing time. Our room was quite clean and well kept with all working facilities. There was an abundance of activities to do on the resort for all ages. Our agent with sunwing who you could talk to at the resort helped us immensely with excursions and speaks very fluent English (Daly and Wesley) as well as some local concierges with the resort (Stephanie Ali). The a la carte restaurants were amazing, especially the Mexican. The buffet was decent depending on how picky you are. Only complaint would be to leave the pools open in the later hours, but I understand they need to close for cleaning. Overall had an amazing time and loved every minute of my trip.

Beach was beautiful food terrible entertainment okay but get rid of the aggressive time share guys they are annoying and way to aggressive. Food was terrible the worst I have had in the DR. Room service okay beach beautiful but I would not go back!

On our way to this resort I started reading reviews again and was actually terrified by our arrival! But we were pleasantly surprised. For the money spent this hotel had everything we need. The only difference to us between this and a 5 star is no service on the beach or for drinks at dinner etc and the food was just a bit less spectacular. Once we figured out how to eat at the buffet it was quite delicious... they had a lot of seafood, the pasta station, etc. Breakfasts were great with the omelette station, yogurts and fresh fruit. I enjoyed the cappuccino machine. (But you have to serve yourself). We liked where our building was located in the middle of everything, we were in building 1, room 1106. Ocean view was worth it in my opinion. The best restaurants were the Mexican and Gourmet. I got a bit of an allergy at the Italian. The beach is the most beautiful we’d seen... we didn’t see any shows as we were in bed early. I got badly sunburned so make sure to take care the rays are very strong. I did have to use the medical centre and it was great. Got cream and medications for my sunburn. We enjoyed the quieter pool, but swam at both. The grounds are beautiful. The room was basic but we did have good air conditioning. I tipped our housekeeper in person and she made sure we had lots of water and towels and even brought us air freshener :) which I appreciated! If you are on a budget but want to see Punta Cana and aren’t that fussy this hotel would be right for you. We travelled as a family, 2 boys age 11 and 14.

Cons- The beds are hard as rocks. The food is mediocre. No great drinks. The staff lacks english speaking. The trees at the beach are too tall so u chase the sun in the afternoons. Pros- The resort is clean. It is small enough to get around easily. The price is right. The birds and iguana pit add interest. The beer on tap is always cold.

We are happy we came to this resort. Our room in Building 2 was very close to everything, we were on 4th floor with an elevator. We booked a la cartes for most nights and enjoyed the Mexican and Gourmet. The drinks are very good, but the house wine is disgusting. We ended up buying bottles of wine at the supermarket close by for our evening meal. The staff we dealt with were always helpful and spoke English. The grounds are very well kept, and we really enjoyed the peacocks and birds on resort!

Very nice resort. Our room was amazing!!!! Very clean. and close to the pool. The food was good especially at the Sports Bar. The nachos and the chicken were amazing. The bartenders at the swim up bar were not very friendly and not very talkative. It was nice to see the peacocks walking around.

The grounds are beautiful. The food is good lot's to choose from. The staff are friendly and cheerful the rooms are clean and the BEACH is BEAUTIFUL. Had a wonderful time.The receptionist named Lady was delightfull Everyone at the lobby bar as well as the beach bar made us feel at home. The service is by far the best II have experienced . I definitely will be back

We opted for the swim up section which seemed to be the quieter area and just what we wanted. The A/C worked fantastic and the rooms were spacious. It was such a treat to have a pool outside the patio doors. Each section of the resort has thier own bar section with a variety of drinks to choose from although there was a charge for premium alcohol. The grounds were always immaculate and beautiful, lush and very well maintained. Food was plenty full with many different options to choose from and unlimited a la Cartes. The staff were always willing to help whenever asked although the female staff really needed to smile more. All in all it was a great trip excluding the abundance of vendors on the beach, on a tour and basically everywhere including at the resort one night. It got tiresome and I found it hard to ignore them after a simple hello gesture. Once you say hello, they want you to look at thier stuff. I didn't appreciate them on the beach as well it got so annoying we had to leave. It's a beautiful place despite the vendors.

I have travelled to Punta Cana many times and stayed in various hotels. But I think this is one of the worst hotels I've ever been to.The staff we rude and had no customer service and the food was horrible!!! I would not recommend this resort to even my worst enemy. My room was dirty when I first arrived and when I advised the sunwing representative about our issues with the room, he said he will get back to us and never did. The security allowed all the locals to come on the beach all day and basically harass everyone to buy things or to get your hair braided, when all I wanted to do was relax. Will not be returning to this hotel again. My favorite hotel in Punta cana is Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe... nothing has topped that one yet.

My wife and I spent 14 days in June 2017 at Vista Sol Punta Cana resort. It was a fantastic vacation. We stayed in building number 3, which is renovated. The room was very clean and pleasant. The resort is well maintained, clean, and there were many spots with shade on the beach. The buffets had a lot of variety and we enjoyed the Italian restaurant. The check-in experience was quick, without any issues. In summary, I recommend this resort. Great value for the service. Irena & Iwan

Stayed at the vista Sol for 9 days. I have been to Punta Cana many times. I don't need fancy rooms but I do expect some service and a little respect from the workers there the front desk staff need to be taught some PR skills the ignorance of one misses was much to be desired. A door that don't lock was no big deal to her. A phone that don't work. Had to get friends to call front desk at 6;30 for towels. At 8:50 still didn't have them. And don't go to front desk looking for an iron. Which is usually in you room. Her answer to that. This is not a five star hotel. Only thing in your fridge. Was two bottles of water, note if you are lucky. But if you visit with you husband who is Dominican. Your fridge would be stocked. Mind you paid the same for the room every day. Don't look for service in the buffet cause that's not happening either I would never go back there again.

The best part of this resort is the beach. Lots of shade if you want it, or not and great for swimming. I would rate this resort just short of a 4. No premium liquor and the showers could use an upgrade and some of the beds are very hard are a few of the draw backs. The little things that they don't have are. Face cloths not uncommon for Caribbean and kleenex. The pros good size resort, no line ups for food or drinks and the cleanest washrooms i have ever seen in any resort. I would go back to this resort if the price is right.

Grounds were well kept and gardens were well maintained, public areas were a safety concern due to ramps, water, and lighting. Pool areas were nice, beach setting wonderful, several free beach games and water toys available. Swim up bar didn't open at 3 as scheduled and many days did not open at all. Rooms had a musty, moldy odor. Theft from a room safe and and misleading taxi fares and pressure to 'sit through a sales pitch' left us leary of returning. Hair in pool drains. Ugh. Ala carte restaurants were OK but not as good as expected. Language barrier between guests and wait staff. Served incorrect entre to guests and didn't know difference between almond cake and crepe suzette? Just wrong. Didn't get the feeling guests were valued. I do not plan to return.

The grounds were very well maintained and all public washrooms were kept very clean and tidy. Our room was well looked after never a problem getting towels or anything else if I needed it and request it, the staff in the buffet worked really hard too look after everyone and kept tables clean. The specialty restaurants could upgrade the food. The wine that they served was terrible and most people didn't drink it I saw a lot of it left on the tables so this should be addressed. The pool areas and the bars were well maintained and the beach area was fabulous. The entertainment was really not very good. Overall it was a nice resort and could be better if they were to get a little better with food and wine. The staff at this resort are nice and friendly and work hard. They deserve and A++.

The resort is laid out extremely well with an exceptional beachfront. The staff are very helpful and friendly and provide terrific service from the bartenders to the dining room staff and housekeeping staff and the folks responsible for arranging the daily activities and everyone in between. The rooms are spacious and well kept. The variety, freshness and quality of the food served for meals in the dining room is top notch. Our family, including our two grandchildren, 9 and 13, had one of the best experiences you could ask for on a family vacation. The Foam Party in the pool was fantastic! Typically my husband and myself with a medium to large group hale the island of Cuba for our winter getaway and pick a different resort every year. We have visited various resorts in Cayo Coco, Holguin and one in Santa Clara. For the 2017 holiday, six of us (three couples) decided to try the Dominican, more specifically, the Vista Sol Punta Cana as this resort was very reasonably priced as compared to other ones in Punta Cana. We flew out of Waterloo Regional Airport (the name is larger than the airport-lol) as we live locally. Sunwing flys to Punta Cana on Thursdays from this airport - a tad inconvenient choice of day but SO close and wonderful to bypass Toronto airport hassles. Big Bonus especially when you arrive back home. After at two hour delay (it was a connector from Sudbury) we were finally boarded on our plane and off we went. Smooth flight and arrival to a very beautiful thatched roof Punta Cana airport. A tad disorganized flight as Sunwing was without the proper papers aboard to go through Punta Cana arrival so it was a scramble once we got inside to get a form, a pen and either table of floor space to sit and fill them out. Typical cattle line to get through, pay arrival tax ($10US) and out the other end.(Quick note: It is a $20US departure tax when you leave for home).1st cold beer and shuttle to resort within 20 minutes - awesome. To continue re the airport (jumping ahead to our return home), we were in a 2 hour line just to check our luggage, by the time we got through everything else we were boarding our plane for home. Beautiful airport but Sunwing very non-efficient and disorganised to have three flights trying to leave at the same time. Give me Cuba - funny little airports, but far more efficient. Arrival rather unshattering (no greet drink or "welcome" - this is the 1st thing we noticed not the same as Cuba arrivals). Went through reception quickly, no smiles or greetings at all. Don't get me wrong, I am not needy or a critical person, it just felt kinda "blah". Three swim-up rooms booked for each of our party (3 couples), one room not available for our friends so they were to come back next day to change. This can happen, but no apology for any inconvenience given. Rooms were great, love the pool right by our stone patio. Each side of the patio space had somewhat spanish inspired stucco divider wall with large planted green palm. Very nice.Were they any better than Cuban rooms? - I would say they were same caliber as 4 star Cuban but the pool proximity put it over the top. (By the way, its $10US for the safe key). Dont know about you, but we go south in the winter for the beach as the number one priority. This did not disappoint. A walk down really lovely maintained grounds landed you right onto the sand. Continue walking by the activity areas (volleyball, darts, bocchi ball etc) placed in and around 40ft tall palms for the next 100 ft when finally, 'cleared' to waters edge. Very tropical feel however, when seeking full sun took a few moves in the afternoon as these palms cast dappled shadows everywhere. My preference? - palapas, then sun and shade seekers can still sit together. My best reference in Cuban experience would be the lovely super wide beach with palapas and the odd beach tree at the Rio de Lunas Y Mares in Holguin. One of the best beaches on the island. Also (back to the Vista Sol), only a short walk at the oceans edge in to a ridge of sand and then it went deeply down to mid chest. We are used to Cuban shallow entry with clear view of the bottom so you can sit on a dune or in shallow waters. My preference is a typical Cuban entry. Ok, now for the vendors. NOT used to this - the hotel commissions staff to wander among the beach bathers to sell excursions (this is fine) BUT the locals do it too although they have to adhere to closer to the waters edge but it is constant. As expected then, when you wander to the left of this resort (facing the ocean) you are harranged by locals every minute as we walked to buy from their beach shops which are pretty much on the waters edge and they look it as they are eroded and crumbled for the most part. This would actually make a neat painting for colours, shapes and cultural visual purposes, but not what I want on a vacay beach stroll. None of this happens anywhere in Cuba. Bottom line - prefer Cuban beach over Dominican beach. We went to the main pool to check out the Animacion games, always fun at the end of a beach day. Lots of sun there as the palm shadows were long at beach (sun sets behind the resort, not on the ocean horizon)They had one activity that took almost an hour so we were not impressed even though one of our friends was in it (he always does this everywhere - a really good sport) Even he decided just to get up and leave. So we did not return to this pool again, after all we had our own back at the rooms with a lovely bar!The pool bars close at 6:00 including the bar where the swim up rooms are but the bartender would not serve my husband at 5:45 as she had closed everything. She told us to go elsewhere and even rolled her eyes. There's a word for her and it starts with a "b". We actually witnessed her pouring jugs of beer for the workers who stopped by her bar and discreetly put in their wheelbarrows only to return again. Nice job if you can get it but treat your patrons with respect please.Again I refer to the attitude and level of service from the staff as being below par. We encountered this also with our room service. We tipped our maid $20 US the 1st morning to ensure good service with a good tip for the week? Well, that day, this worked well as we got plenty of bottled water, pouches of coffee for the coffee maker and 6 beers in the fridge. "Awesome", we said, but the room was not cleaned for the next two days. Honestly, we felt ripped off and a little silly for tipping at all. Again - NOT an experience in Cuba. Our friends did not get a swim up room (remember them, no room as booked the 1st day so they had to come back the next morning) so they were placed in an oceanview room at no extra charge so that was actually really great for them. Our other friends (in the swim up rooms) had a large leak from their bathroom ceiling for three days in a row, maintenance came to fix it quickly each day, but it was not fixed properly so they went to the reception on the third night and had management come out to their room and all agreed that this was not good and promised a new room in the morning. Next day, you know it, no room available BUT they too were reassigned to an oceanview room with our other friends. On we go. Our toilet stopped working and finally got a maintenance guy with a plunger 6 hours later. Actually it was pretty funny trying to get someone to understand the issue. I had a Spanish-English pocket dictionary, finally found the word and went running in my PJs along the pool edge at 8:00 am chasing the senorita with the clipboard. A few hand gestures later, everyone understood and had a good laugh. Food - FABULOUS! I have a few food allergy issues and ate extremely well as did everyone else. The buffet wasn't huge but the open layout was very nice and the food choices were great. The food is far better than Cuban fare for sure. It is pretty much self serve for drinks (coffee/expresso automated machines that also gave you choices of tea) but I gotta say, their house wines were pretty nasty. So what our friends did was buy a few inexpensive bottles from one of the resort stores and drank that instead.) There is also a cigar and gift shop on premisis with typical fare. We also went to the Italian a la Carte. This was delicious! Our four friends also went to the Mexican and thoroughtly enjoyed it too. A Plus. Entertainment was lacking. No lobby entertainment and I really like that in Cuba. A typical one of our days is a little breakfast, into suits, hit the beach all day, a little poolside at 4:00, back to the room, shower and then go to Lobby for drinks and entertainment before the buffet. Sadly missing. The whole "festive island" feel was missing for us. Excursions? Normally we don't bother but four of us bought the doon buggy excursion from one of the hotel reps on the beach and bargained it down $20US. If you don't ask, you don't get and always worth a try. We did this on pretty much a monsoon rain day and it was hilarious!! Covered in splattered mud, I mean, what can you do but just give into it and enjoy? Visited a beautiful ocean beach (couldn't swim as bad undertoe in storm) and a 30ft deep swimming hole 30ft down in a cave - very cool. We returned to the resort and walked through the lobby with lots of questioning looks like, "what the heck happened to you?" Actually a phenominal day. It rained for the next two days which was unfortunate but what can you do? Last day and the sun came out which was so beautiful. Attended a foam party in the pool (Wednesday late afternoons) which was really fun, we had a blast. Im done, hope this helps a bit. Our consensus as a group of six (three couples) was back to Cuba. Maybe spend the same money ($1500US each) and go to a higher end Cuban resort for next round. The people and beaches far outweigh the amenities and the food for me. As far as the Domincan goes, this was just our first trip there, I do understand that spending more money would likely make a difference. Was this resort good value, yeah, I think so for this island but as a comparison to most Canadians other island destination, I prefer Cuba. I hope it remains as it is even with the current allowable entrance of our neighbours south of the 49th parallel. Have a great holiday wherever you go!!!

The grounds at this Resort was well maintained and very tidy. The public areas was keep cleaned daily by the Staff. Room was a bit dated and there was problems upon arrival with our patio door lock broken, toilet didn't flush properly and musty smell. We reported this to the front desk, they fixed the items right away and put the ventilation system on which fixed the musty smell, they offered to give us another room the next day but we declined as they had fixed the items. We enjoyed the pool being so close to our Room. The nightly entertainment started too late 10:00 - 11:00pm. Food at buffet was very good with different various dishes daily and the Gourmet Restaurant was great . Bring your face cloths, Resort uses hand towels fro face cloths.

This was honestly one of the most beautiful resorts I have been to. The grounds were so amazing and the beach and ocean were perfect! The food was delicious and so many choices. Did the Italian and Mexican a la carte and both were great. I did have to upgrade my wine 🍷 but no complaints. I would definitely return to this resort!

I should of stayed home.-Right now im covered with about 50 some sand flea bites-very itchy, big red welts my legs are a mess, not the way I wanted to come home. The 1st 3 days no hot water-they said afterword that this happens on the 4th floor-no facecloths and the same food every day,,,,,,,

This resort has lovely kept grounds, and very clean rooms. The food was mediocre,and the Gourmet restaurant had a very limited menu. The nightly entertainment could be improved. The beach was excellent and well kept.

The rooms were nice and. Very clean. We had a swim up room which was a new and pleasant experience for us. Foodd was good. They have a buffet and 3 alacarte restaurants (Gourmet, Italian & Mexican) 3 pools and beach were nice and always clean. Hotel staff efficient and friendly

This was our first visit to the Dominican Republic. We chose this resort for it's size and beach location. The best part of the resort for us was the beach (shade, dappled shade or full sun spots available). Most chaise lounges were clean and comfortable. We felt the staff in buffets could have been more hospitable. We found ourselves getting our own cutlery and sitting at tables that were not cleaned! A la carte meals were our best meals (Gourmet was the best!). The resort was not too busy due to it being off-season. Our room was turned down each day that we asked for that to be done and two 1.5 litre bottles of water were delivered to our bar fridge each day. We were happy with our maid service. Our room was a swim-up room in Building # 18. Which has NOT been renovated yet. The air conditioning unit (?) dripped through the bathroom ceiling throughout our entire stay. Black mold was beginning to grow in some of the tile crevices...a reno is definitely needed in that building. Also, a couple of our light fixtures did not work. It was clear that these items would not repaired. Someone came to look at the issues but no action was taken during our stay. The main pool was closed during our stay for a scheduled (?) maintenance period of one month! Another building of rooms was also closed for renovations during our stay. We found the on-site vacation sales men to be friendly but also pushy. When we walked the beach we were haggled every time by the local people selling their wares. This was a big downside for us. We understood that they need to make a living but some of them were very pushy and aggressive. Resort security was very good - good presence. Our SunWing representative, Julien, was excellent. His English was very good and he was very helpful at answering our questions and helping us to book an excursion to swim with dolphins. We would recommend this hotel as a value hotel. There is some "do it yourself" required with this all-inclusive! We would rate it at 3 to 3.5 stars.

The grounds are really nicely maintained. They are currently going through renovations and from the two weeks we were there, I can see some improvement already. The rooms are a little outdated but fine. The washrooms need to be updated more. Cleaning service was average. Reception service is a hit and miss. They should get more people at the service desk. The Sunwing reps are fine however there were delays on the flight and they saw us waiting so the should have advised us earlier. They advised not to book escursions outside of Sunwing/Nexus but you can find cheaper prices for the same value pretty much with the guys coming around. I would recommend Antonio or Kevin. They were great. The trip to Saona was awesome and $30 cheaper than what Sunwing was offering and it was more intimate then a huge group. The food is really good. You always something to get. They try to really provide a variety. The service on the other hand does need improvement. They don't seem to enjoy their jobs. The Mexican and italian restaurant had the best service. Improvement in the service of Gourmet restaurant needs improvement as we waited approximately and hour just to get a drink the first time we went. The second time was a bit better. Basically they need more staff. The restaurants are not air conditioned, with the exception of the gourmet restaurant. Would be nice if they are closed doors to get some relief from the heat. At the buffet restaurant. You have to get your own drinks. At first it was odd as I have never seen this at an all inclusive but it worked out fine. They always have lots of beverages to choose from. They always restock bottle of water in your fridge and it is nice and cold. The beach was nice. There is some seaweed at this time but they do attempt to clean some of it on the daily basis and from walking along the beach in the area, this one was in best shape. The shows were average. Some better then others. The circus, Michael Jackson and international dancing shows were the best. The comedy and some other shows were quite lame. I enjoyed their beach parties on Saturday's. Overall our vacation was good. There is plenty of shade and chairs at the beach. If you are looking to relax and have some fun and are not too fussy with the service, then this place is right for you. Good value for the price.

The resort is laid out in blocks, and there are 3 pools, each close to your block. The main pool has the swim up bar. We had a foam party in the pool one afternoon. The food is good, large variety of cold food, salads hot food, pizza, pasta and lots of desserts! Staff are constantly cleaning the resort. We liked the "sports bar", which was close to the beach. That was nice because you didn't have to walk through the entire resort to grab some food. It is intended for people laying on the beach, and you pour your own beer on draft! I believe there are 7 bars overall. Nightly entertainment is good. There is a charge for the beach towel, but it is refunded when you return the towel. Rooms are clean, they are in the process of updating. Overall, excellent vacation!

This resort was affordable, clean and very good for the price. Staff were friendly. The grounds were beautiful, beach was stunning! There was plenty of shade with many trees on the beach and plenty of beach chairs despite it being march break. Beach was perfect for long morning walks. The entertainment crew was always on the go. We really enjoyed the stretch classes, merengue classes on the beach. Carlos was the best! They work so hard. Food was good, there was always something that pleased. It was hit and miss but we never have crazy high expectations - overall good. Drinks were great, beer was cold and delicious. Rooms were clean, some were more updated than others however the did the trick. We didn't use the pools but they were always busy. Overall, for the price and the beach we would return! Thanks to the Vista Sol.

No idea why people put negative reviews for this resort. We have stayed at a number of Punta Cana resorts since 2004 and the Vista Sol is just a good if not better than most. Yes the food can be repetitive, but booking the Al-a carts helps break up the food monotony. We upgraded to the Superior Room and it was very modern with all amenities working. The staff were very friendly and most could speak some English. Overall the Vista Sol is a great 4 star resort for couples, families and groups.

Most of the Staff there did NOT speak English, and only smiled or said HI after I did. The food wasnt that good, and the pools closed at 6 pm. The Security Staff were supposed to keep vendors away from us, but they were too lazy to do so. The General Manager is unprofessional and a liar. The music at the resort is instrumental, on a one hour loop, and is painful to listen to. The customer service is poor, and was our room amenities. However, our view from the room was awesome.

It's a very nice resort. All common area including bathrooms always clean. Food was average. Not much waiter service in Buffet ! Walkways on grounds are oddly laid out. Swim up Rooms very nice. Cheers!

This hotel allows u to relax. All services were available and people were helpful. The transfers from airport,malls and casino were all on time and close by. Plenty of bars and pools all close to your room. Food was always available, fresh and good. Many coffee machines making good and different types of coffee. The beach is naturally shaded with no problem getting a chair. Very clean resort.

I recently travelled with a friend to Vista Sol. It's close to the airport, so you don't have to travel long. Resort was clean, every room has a balcony, large rooms with good sized bathrooms and showers, lots of bottled water available and replenished daily, the staff were pleasant, patient and friendly and it's located right on the beach. Three pools and large expanse of available beach - and beach lounge chairs, meant there were options no matter what your preference. Our room was on the first floor, facing the main pool and hotel lobby. We thought it would be loud so requested a switch, we ended up staying in the room as noise levels weren't a problem and it was kinda nice to be in a central location. This resort had the feeling of a small boutique hotel, but is actually a pretty large resort. We enjoyed the food - especially in the buffet, but all the restaurants served good, if not delicious meals.

This hotel is very nice, grounds are lovely, beach was beautiful, although when we were there, the ocean was very rough and because of arthritis I could not go in the rough water. The room (7101) was beautiful, although we did have trouble with shower, it only had a 1/2 door and water went all over the floor. The food was acceptable, I did not have a problem finding something to eat. The public washrooms in the lobby and on the beach were always kept very clean. The ala carte' restaurants were very good, my travel partner didn't like any of hers, but I found mine choices acceptable. The wine in the Gourmet Restaurant was the best! The pools were kept very clean, bartenders were happy and always available. Activities were plentiful however I did not get involved in many, I watched. The evening entertainment was good. I wish they would do the childrens part at 8 pm and the adult at 9 pm. They start it at 10 pm and it is just too late after being out in the sun most of the day.

Loved this resort, was small enough that you weren't walking all day to get anywhere. There were lots of different bars to choose from during the day. Grounds were stunning, always someone working on them. Stayed in a swim up room which I'd highly recommend! Food was ok, can't see anyone going hungry as there was plenty to choose from. Beach was amazing! I would definitely return.

I just returned from my vacation at Vista Sol and it was a very good vacation the staff was excellent my husband was sick the firth night propebly a virus and the doctor on the resort was very good there we very caring even the nurse they stay in our room most off the day . We had the swim up room excellent the food was good . The grounds were beautiful it was allways clean . The beach was beautiful allways clean to I love my stay the only complain I could said was are guide was unrespectable .

I have stayed at 4 different resorts in Punta Cana in the past 7 years; all of which were rated 4 stars. I really liked this one. It is clean, pretty and most staff are friendly (bartenders could cheer up a bit). It was sometimes difficult to get a drink served at the buffet but there are alot of self serve machines around too. Loved the location, it was close to everything including the airport which I liked way better than being too far off the beaten track. The food at the buffet is Dominican mostly rather than North american which I enjoyed alot but may not be for everyone. You could always find something you liked there though.

I had tried not to go with high expectations however this resort completely exceeded all of my expectations. The food was really good on the buffet and had great variety. Our room was one of the renovated ones so we were quite pleased. The beach was great, the water is a little rough but still enjoyable. All in all fantastic time!!

Food was of good quality and good variety. Ground were fairly simple, but very clean and well kept. Beach chairs had to be obtained early in the day, and once one of our towels was removed from a chair while we were at breakfast, and once two (we were a party of five) chairs were completely removedfrom the others; at least the culprits left our belongings! The beach is predominantly shaded, which I liked but if you like the sun the area with rays is quite limited in size. The room was a good size, beds were ok, pillows awful. The bathroom was clean but quite dated, there was no ceiling fan, so often the ceiling dripped water on the area surrounding the toilet. Maintenance however was prompt in at least assessing these issues. No less than 6 times in one week did we have to replace a key card for not working. It wasn't usually a huge deal as the front desk personnel responded promptly, however I was travelling with an 80 year old and a woman using crutches, which was a bit of a pain for them. The maids were friendly and did a marvellous job. Both some of the workers (definitely not all) and particularly most of the guests never stopped to let our family member on crutches pass before them, instead she would have to wait. Coming from Canada, I found this a little offputting, where we are accustomed to giving the pedestrian right of way to children, elders and the infirmed. However, many people were very gracious, helpful, mannerly and patient in helping us with our Spanish. Also, this resort is not huge, which was appealing for our group.

I booked a trip using tripcentral to Vista Sol. The website was easy to use and booking was easy. We just arrived back from a week stay at Vista Sol. I will try and be brief. This is a large resort but feels small. It is a short walk from the front desk to the beach and all of the entertainment. The check in process was slow...very slow. But once at the desk they took their time and explained everything so I appreciated the slowness of the check in once we were at the counter. The grounds and facilities were very well maintained and our room was cleaned daily. The food was average. I didn't see much of a problem with it. We went to the Mexican restaurant 1 night and it was good too. I would keep an open mind with the food. Some items they offer are: pork, pork chops, turkey dinner, seafood, chicken etc. The beach is amazing. Get there early if you want a lounger...same as anywhere else I've been to. Things needing some improvement. The beds felt like we were laying on a stack of pallets!! So uncomfortable!! Check out was disappointing. Our pick up time was 3:10 am and we had to check out at 11 am. That's a long day of not having a place to shower or rest before you leave. The staff really didn't understand English very well. All other resorts I've been to have staff that understands English. Attentiveness was weak. All other resorts had staff that would get drinks for you during dinner etc. this one didn't. Not a big deal but a difference anyway. I asked for a blanket from the front desk and didn't get it. Not a big deal but... All in all we had a fantastic time! Nice clean resort, decent food and service. I've had better for around the same price. Room Tip: Swim up rooms in the 10 block were great

The sand and sun is beautiful, nice pools as well. The food isn't the best but there was always something. Lobby bar closed at midnight, no where to get fresh coffee until 9am Hardly had any hot water, I might have had 3 hot showers. It was an ok resort if you didn't want anything to do, not much of a night life

Hotel room: nice and spacious and grounds beautiful, love the wildlife Maid service: very good – rooms cleaned by noon Dining: good – good selection of fruits, very fresh Coffee: The worst coffee – they only have coffee machines that break down at least once a day and the line ups at breakfast are horrendous! Why would the DR who are known for their coffee serve such sludge! A la carte restaurants: terrible reservation system – have to line up by 9:00am everyday to reserve that night and often if you went by 9:15 – full-up (had to be there by 8:30, very long line-up) They have quite a few annoying rules at this hotel – cannot take even a cup of coffee out of the buffet restaurant, cannot take any food out of the beach sports bar and the staff spend hours chasing people who don’t know the rules! The pool bar is closed in the evening - only 1 bar opened most nights. The bar at the beach party does not open until 10pm even though the party starts at 9:30 and all the guests are waiting. We travel a lot and have never encountered this attitude – the management as well as Jimmy the Sunwing representative need lessons in customer service – should please customers first if they want them to return and after talking to other guests - they will not. The entertainment from 7pm to 10pm is non-existent except one night a week (a Michael Jackson show). It was very quiet and boring in the evening and even the shows at 10pm were a hit and miss. Do not go for 2 weeks as we did and go preferably with other couples because there really is nothing to do in the evening. We travel alone usually and love to dance under the stars - not at this resort and it's unfortunate because they have a beautiful café-style set up by the pool that would be great for dancing, even to piped-in music. We suggested it to the manager but we’re ignored, so we’ll never return – I guess they don’t care! Bavaro beach: What an overrated beach that is! What A DISAPPOINTMENT. It is the dirtiest beach we've been on in the islands! So many weeds in the water and even though they clean continuously it is always dirty the first 15 feet in the water and the water is very muddy and choppy and not only at our hotel. The beach at this hotel is much too shady and there are way too many trees. Everyone is always trying to find some sun and having to move chairs around - very annoying. Yes you can walk for miles but it is dirty and also very windy, the whole 2 weeks we were there. Maybe it's the time of year and if so, don't go in January.

Everything about this resort was good and so it's a real shame that the buffet food and coffee is truly the worst I've had at any resort in the past. Coffee as we North Americans know it, is not available AT ALL. Coffee was available only from a machine dispenser and was terrible. Some mealtimes, the machines were shut off and no coffee was available. Poor variety of fruit and often bitter, not ripe or rotten and yet still put out for consumption. Raw bacon in the serving dish along with the cooked bacon. Dishes were tasteless and meat dry and chewy. Beef here is not what we are used to so the chef needs to be more creative in serving it to guests. I understand the business sense of recycling food for a subsequent meal but we saw the same dishes day in and day out and soon the lavish buffet became predictable and somewhat questionable. Juice dispenser is nothing more than powdered flavour crystals. On days fresh fruit juice was available, each one was so watered down they had no flavour. I told the staff but they couldn't have cared less. The Mexican Restaurant had wonderful food as did the Gourmet Restaurant but the Buffet remained mostly inedible. Sometimes we simply skipped meals or ate mostly bread. All of us in the group developed diarrhea requiring a visit to the medical centre. This resort has a huge Russian and European guest base and perhaps the resort caters more to their taste but for we Canadians, the buffet food was simply substandard and I would NOT visit this resort again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

The room was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful . Very clean and we'll groomed grounds. It's a great resort except for the buffet and coffee. (breakfast was okay). The a la carte restaurants were very good. The ocean was great as well as the pool and the evening entertainment was fun.

The resort is average. Buffet is similar to others. Al la cartes were quite good, although you did feel rushed in the Mexican and Italian restaurants. The grounds are nice, beach and pools are all nice and the drink selection is quite good. Rooms are average. A good choice if you don't want to pay for a higher priced resort in Dominican.

This was our 6th visit to the D.R. and our first stay at Vista Sol. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff is always busy making sure the pool deck is clean too. While we have stayed at friendlier locations, we didn't experience anything negative from the locals. It is heavily attended by Russians, who don't like to wait their turn for anything; hence constantly budding in lines, whether it be at the bar or the buffet. And while most considerate people would move to a single lane when passing people along paths, this group of people make you walk off the paths to pass them - even though you're going in opposite directions. If you are a smoker, you will fit right in. We aren't smokers and regrettably, there was no consideration to those who appreciate breathing clean Carribbean air. There are signs posted indicating no reserving of loungers at the pool, however that didn't stop people from laying their towels down and then not showing up to use their spots until long after 3pm. Because of the trees, you have to be strategic with shifting your chair of you want sun exposure. For the most part, we didn't use the beach much because the winds were so high during this trip. Despite some of the comments above, I would still recommend this resort. We wanted a clean room - we got it. We wanted a good variety of foods - we got it. There was always a different roasted meat offered daily. We wanted a pool with swim up bar - we got it, although the bartenders were only tending from the top level. This is a good family-friendly value resort.

Vista Sol, the grounds are beautiful and they are always cleaning and making sure it looks it's best. The pool is great and we spent most of the time around the pool because the beach was quite windy and shaded by a lot of palm trees. The only issue with the main pool, was the lack of beach chairs and the hoarding of them. Get up early to reserve one. There are a lot of Russians at this resort, and they do not line up for anything they will barge in line. If you are a non smoker, there really isn't any non smoking places to retreat to. The food is good, there was always something for even the pickiest eater. We had the room with the loft and there was plenty of room and all four of us had a bed. Even though the rooms are dated and need some repair, the housekeeping staff kept it immaculate. The washrooms in around the hotel are also kept very clean. If you go, expect it to be a 3 1/2 star and you will not be disappointed, but it gets a 5 star for effort in my books.

The rooms were clean and the staff was great. The entertainment was excellent. We watched the dancers each night by the pool. We were treated to a lap dance and this was so much fun. The entertainment nightly was excellent.

We stayed in a modern Junior Suite with a spectacular sea view and private beach.Our room had a king size bed that was very comfortable and a spacious shower, lots of hot water and always clean. The gardens are very tropical.It is kept very clean with Peacoks and ducks to roam freely.Lots of palm trees on the beach to provide shade if needed. Food at the A La Cartes restaurants was very good.The buffets food was good but good use more of a selection and a better layout for the food stations. The staff was always friendly and hepful.They have a good activity team, nightly shows at the theatre and also in the evening live bands play in the lobby.Massages and shopping are available. We had a great stay and plan to return to this resort again.
