This place was amazing. The rooms were nice and clean. Only thing that was kind of disappointing was not all rooms have a balcony or terrace. Although it turned out to not be a big issue. Pools and bars were really good. The beach was great to walk every day, with clean white sand that goes on for miles. The staff was wonderful, always smiling and very friendly. The buffet and alacarts were very good with lots of different foods to choose from. There was multiple dishes to choose from on the alacarts menu's. We enjoyed our stay and we will go back again.

First time traveller to Mexico and wished we were warned about the "snake pit" at the airport, The husslers, nearly cost us missing our bus connection, plus the Air Transit represnetative was not observable to help direct us to the connecting hotel bus. We sent everywhere by Mexican husslers in the aiport who apprear to be legitimate travel assistants. NOT .. so be aware, just walk through to the outside without giving any eyecontact , and look for a representative, it is chaos there. Secondly, the Air Transat rep at the us is very rude and not helpful at all, aswell as the meeting with rep at the hotel. Went to the scheduled meeting at hotel, no rep., someone when to fine the person. The person eventurally arrive, and was not welcomng, language barrier, only concerned to selll off hotel tours.. did not know anything about the local area, buses etc. I was other tourists who educated us... never again will I go to Occcidental . 1. Arrived and told we were up graded. We thoough how nice. well, not, we were in a closed off room with no windows to open, only to listen to the music nightlfy from othere hotels, and under our room was as the supply area. Every day woke to deliveries , beeping, etc . and ending every night with loud music from the hotel next door.. SOME upgrade.. to add to this was a disgusting odor from the inside of our night table, all of our personal items took on the odor or what smelled like animal urine,, it was disgusting. No fresh air, moldy air conditioners, and woke to workers drilling 10 other rooms having the air conditioner serviced... not ours. Complained to desk and asked to be moved after a frustrating week of no sleep. Was told to return the next day, did that, was told no one knew about about the complaint, come back next day and to find that a couple 2 doors down, complained becasue thier tv did not work and were moved that night ....returned 3 rd day to the evening manager who took us seriously, came to room and had the night bed exchanged and them said he will have a "surprise" the following day ... suprise , not surprise .. one hand does not know what the other is doing at the front desk. The departure day after 2 weeks on no sleep, and constant noise, and lack of action, the front desk could not find our reservation with our personal informations -- copy of our passport ... no one could find it, and showed no concern for the fact our passport information was misplaced... I have since written the manager. Accomodations rate - old dumpy... however, the cleaning staff were lovely, responsive and very kind! as I became very sick from the mold in the air conditioner. Food variety very good, and generous in choices. The 3 restarants are a nice change fa nice change from daily crash bang caferteria and line ups to get in. The pool is often filled early in am filling up with americans who enjoy drinking at 8 am and stay in pool all day. No fun, loud obnoxious , resort .. I lived at the beach where peddlers constantly bugging people to buy something .. it never ended. Overall, if you like to drink, booze flies constantly, the lounge is taken up by sports people, always full of americans wthinc bloody football,, the resort offers very little for options, your are stuck with the same old pool junkies, and the lounge is taken over by 8 tvs of sports , It it is your thing, knowck yourself out. The best thing, was perfect sunny weather while is stormed her in Ontario.. would I recommend air transat or Occidental , not on your life. I an extensive traveller and it was the worst holiday I ever had. It was alot like Cuba but at Cuba you know what to expect.

Firstly, This was my wife and my selfs 29th time to PV and have been to about 15 different all inclusives there, as well as about 10 other carribean destination all inclusives. We were there 2 weeks ,Dec 6 to 20th. Not a very busy time in my opinion ( just before the xmas rush) Things were just starting to get busier when we left. Great Resort if your not a terribly picky person! Buffets were very good ( as good as a buffet can be at an all inclusive ). . Rooms all getting a little rough around the edges. Very disappointed in the fact that most rooms dont have balconies and that the rooms are a little small, but on the plus side it forced us to get up and get out of the room early and enjoy the day more. Also allowed us to get a lounger by being out early(7-8am) if it wasnt for that your wandering around aimlessly looking for a place to sit down. I complained to the concierge and she said it has always been a problem!! I told her that there is two very simple solutions... 1. GET MORE CHAIRS! There is plenty of room on the pool deck and beach to place more chairs. I cant imagine the situation in high season! 2. - enforce their own rules for not saving the chairs for so long. I saw no staff ever take a towel off a chair even after chairs sitting all day ( 8hrs) with no one using them and other people with no place to sit. The buffet in the morning was a little slow getting a server to bring you coffee or water but not a huge deal. Coffee station in the lobby was a huge plus for us! Those were my only complaints. Everything else was great! Great service. The bartenders are very friendly and quick to get you a drink. At every bar! Servers are very attentive , especially being there 2 weeks, they would bring us our "usual " without even asking. Canned beer everywhere and not draft was a huge bonus , and surprise , for me. Doesnt matter how good the draft is when its served in those detergent smelling plastic cups. Also bottled water was always available every where. My wife only drinks champagne and red wine and both were very pleasing to her and she is kind of fussy! But the highlight of our stay was the Italian A la carte restaurant. Amazing meals!!!! Our server Juan was probably the best waiter we have ever had at any restaurant in our lives!! We were fortunate enough to get in 3 times and each meal was better than the last. Cant say enough good things. I would definitely recommend this resort.

First time staying in the riviera Nayarit, the beach is much nicer than puerto vallarta and buserias. the food at the buffet was amazing every day, and even on a 10 day trip I looked forward to the food every day. The drinks at the bar were very good, and the bartenders showed us some new ones. (Special shout-out to Leo at the pool bar and Irving in the buffet for their service that went above and beyond) The grounds were very clean and well maintained. The hotel has an old and a new section, we were in the old section. We had a few minor issues in the room but nothing that would ruin the trip, the only real complaint I would have is the rooms are not soundproof at all. You can hear everyone walking down the hallway, and the neighbours talking in their rooms. That being said, the rooms were very clean, the water pressure was amazing, water was hot, air conditioning worked great, and of course an amazing view from the 5th floor.

Over all we were very happy apart from one incident where a wedding was taking place and the wedding party were in the bar area until 1.30 am screaming and shouting. The bar area was under our room. When my husband rang the desk to ask that it be toned down he was told curtly that the wedding party has permission to have the area until 1am. He was also told that we should not hear it as we were on the sixth floor. The area was open to the high ceiling so anyone who had a room above that would have heard it. The noise was toned down somewhat but not stopped until 2 pm. We did not allow that incident to mar our holiday but were disappointed at the response to a civil request.

All grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained. Resort is very clean. Beachfront is beautiful and sandy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice no food is at poolside which keeps birds and bugs away.

I have been to many other resorts but this is my favorite.

From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, we were impressed! We had asked for a quieter room, higher level, king sized bed. Upon checking in, they said they tried to accommodate all our requests, but could not get a higher level floor. We were given room 246. It exceeded our expectations! The room was spacious, so clean, so bright, with a huge deck overlooking the Royal Pool AND the ocean! (We did NOT upgrade to Royal). It had two chairs and table, plus two loungers! It was so quiet at night, the air conditioning worked perfectly. The only thing with our deck was that it was too hot to sit on it from about 3-7 PM. The floors above us had covers but we did not. The pool bar shut down around 8 PM, so there was never any issue with noise after 8. We could see the shows from our deck! All staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet food was scrumptious and huge variety! We ate breakfast every morning at the buffet, and three nights at the buffet. Lunch was always at the Mariachi, and always lots of choices! We tried each a la carte at least 2-4 times and loved them all! The service at each a la carte was exceptional! To make a reservation for an a la carte you go to the lobby each morning about 8:20 and line up. You can start reserving about 8:45. The times are 6, 7, 8, 9 and I believe 10. It is a pain to do this every morning, but it is also a nice way to meet people from around the world! They used to allow you to reserve a few days in a row, but because people would reserve then not bother to show up, they had to change to one day at a time. Reservations can be made between 8:45-4. Please help them out by cancelling your reservation if you do not decide to go. That allows someone else to be able to use that time slot. The shows were from 9-10 PM each night and very professional! They had many activities, water aerobics, Zumba, yoga, fun games and activities and so much more! I could go on and on. The one small thing that could be improved upon, (but could be a staffing issue) is the beach and lounger area. It would be nice to see it raked and cleaned up a bit better, and the lounge chairs and tables cleaned more. There are so many people to thank, so here are a few, as some I didn't get their names. Eric (helped us with Spanish) Puk (funny, friendly, terrific service) Ana, who helped us with Spanish, Irene (fabulous! (Beach server), Stephan - so personable! (reservation man), Jose, (Esther and Jabier at the shopping shack) Raphael and Alberto at the Italian, Blanca our maid, fabulous! Fania, Francesco at the buffet who helped us with our Spanish! Valeria and her Harris hawk, Sahara. There are so many to thank and I feel so bad I didn't get all their names. The young ladies at the Lobby Bar at night were also fantastic! The two activities men! This resort is a 4 min walk to the Riviera Farmers Market every Tuesday from 9-2! We noticed ramps everywhere and there are elevators if anyone has mobility issues or uses a wheelchair. Paradise Village Mall is a 2-3 minute walk from the resort! The beach is lovely and flat to walk on! If we had any issues, for example, we were out of our room every morning before 9. We asked if it would be possible to have our room cleaned before noon, not late in the day. It was done! We had a couple of days when we did not get coffee or water. We went to the front desk, and it was brought up immediately. We just asked politely, and any issue was taken care of! We will return! Mucho gracias to all staff who made our stay so memorable! I had hoped to post photos along with this review, but it did not give me that option! Covid protocols were met in all areas. Hand sanitizing and wearing of masks entering restaurants and leaving but not once you’re at your table. You didn’t have to wear a mask walking around the lobby or hallways unless you were too close to another person.

Great small resort . Very clean. Friendly staff , good food. We paid more for the private restaurant and better room. Had a separate pool and a separate part on the beach. The restaurant was ok same menu for a week but enough choice just be aware that the service there is very slow and they are a bit unorganized! Did not do any of the restaurants where you had to make reservations. However everyone spoke an bout the Italian restaurant Make sure if you are booking a balcony ocean view that you ask for a non obstructive view. I really liked this resort

A fantastic resort! Extremely clean room and pool area. Very pleased with the beautiful views from the restaurants. Able to see the ocean from 2 of them. Food was very good with lots of choices. Drinks were constantly served by the pool. Great service! The entertainment staff were super friendly and full of energy. Nightly shows were very good with trained dancers. No fighting for pool chairs, always some available. Cons: No free wifi spots. This made checkiing in for our return flights very difficult. Had to cross the street to use Starbucks free wifi.

Grounds beautiful. Beach excellent. Pool good. Not much happening at this resort, however if you just want to relax, this resort is for you! BEWARE there is construction! All day 8 to 9 pm 7 days!! Jackhammer all day. We paid extra for royal club service and we were right next to construction! They should not be charging extra!! Would go back but after construction is finished.

This is a wonderful resort for couples or families. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The food was average in the buffet, not a bad breakfast and lunch selection. We ate at 2 of the 3 Ala Carte restaurants, the Italian and Japanese we definitely would recommend trying them. The resort was well kept, the beach was beautiful. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach and by the pool. The rooms are average nothing special but they are clean.

Just returned from a 10-day stay at the Occidental Nuevo Vallarta. We loved the caring staff, availability of pool and beach chairs, clean rooms and hotel grounds (food served only in restaurants) and buffet food was enjoyable (could have had a bit more variety). Great nightly entertainment. We felt very welcome. We will not hesitate to return next year.

The hotel was located on one of the most beautiful properties I have ever been to. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make our vacation the most memorable one we ever had. The beaches were clean and free of seaweed which made swimming very enjoyable. Drinks were first class and plentiful. The food was delicious and professionally prepared by well train chefs. Me and my wife will be definitely planning a future vacation at this resort for sure.

Facility and grounds were very well kept, nice rooms, clean, friendly staff, good food. Pools were clean and water was warm. New hospital directly across the street. Beach..water a little rough each day....not a big deal for us though Rooms....shower doors leaked....not a big deal either...just place a towel on the floor by the door. Close to the airport...20 min drive.

Amazing beach, understaffed, small rooms, public bathrooms extremely small stalls, beach & poolside activities fairly good.Juan was awesome for activities.had to pay for wifi. Asked to speak to the manager & was given excuse after excuse why I couldn't. Would not recommend or return to this hotel.

BTW, this is our first time giving a review and the reason is because we had one of the best times ever. We went to this resort the 2nd week of Jan 2019. The place is as it appears on the pictures, fantastic; the location is great, the beach is long and beautiful although the water a little choppy, the staff were warm and helpful, the rooms and our experience was fantastic. The food quality the best we've had at any all inclusive resort. We went to the old city in Puerto Vallarta 3 times, only 35 mins via taxi from the resort for only $15 CDN one way; there is so much to see and do, a real vibrant city. I recommend the resort to all who are looking for quality at the cost advertised, worth every penny. Our assessment of this resort is no exaggeration. We look forward to returning.

The Occidental is a very nice resort! Not too big, it would be good for anyone who may have accessibility needs. It is clean and modern and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good with fresh salsa and guacamole and other Mexican foods available every day...yummy! I was really impressed the hotel does not use disposable plastic cups, plates or cutlery, no straws etc. All food is served on dinnerware, cloth napkins etc! Only plastic water bottles in the rooms and it appears they recycle them! The beach here is great, you can walk for miles and at low tide the flats make for a nice even walking surface. Nice ambient music in the main buffet and along the covered walkway. Entertainment was resort fare but changed nightly and was good. My only suggestions would be for the resort to provide free wifi if even just in the lobby. Also the full ocean view rooms are directly over the lobby bar and the sound does carry up at night, so if you want a quieter room suggest a room on the sides. Wine is just a basic Spanish white or red, but the mixed drinks were good.

Quieter resort, rooms were clean, food was really good and the drinks were well made. Wifi seemed to be an issue for those who wanted it. Rooms are a bit small but the showers were hot with good pressure.

I loved staying at the Occidental Grand In Nuevo! It was very clean and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Food was also amazing. Only downside was the check in on the first night (no room) so we were relegated to a very uncomfortable room until the next day. Once that was sorted out all was well!

The resort was very clean and comfortable. Trouble the first night at resort - our flight was 3 hrs late and they had a room for us but it was a hide a bed and cot. This is not a room. Occidental fixed it the next day but there was no compensation or an apology.

We are a middle aged well traveled couple. We have stayed in mainly 5 star all inclusives but decided to save a few dollars and stay at a 4 star. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. The beach is great here and even though many reviewers complained about the lack of shade we never had a problem finding a chair in the shade at any time of the day. That being said we do not sit around the pool as we prefer to sit on the beach. The only thing that I can think to complain about is that the windows do not open. I don't mind not having a balcony as we spend very little time in our room however I do not like sleeping with the cold air conditioning on and it would be nice to hear the waves at night. Also would appreciate internet access in the Lobby. I rather like not having internet in the room while on vacation but it would be nice to be able to check in every few days and so Lobby internet would be appreciated. The Ocean was so rough when we were there that it made it impossible to have a nice swim but if you like to play in the waves this is the beach for you. One day the water was so rough that it was washing in dozens of yellow bellied water snakes, Yikes! It was also amazing to see a nest of turtles hatch right on our resort beach . The staff at the hotel was great and I would especially like to thank Eder Huescq at the front desk as he went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with our stay. I really don't understand the complaints about check in as ours and our friends who arrived days after us both had a quick and cheerful check in with Eder. We did not upgrade to Royal level and really i can not see that it would be worth an extra $100 a day to do so. Although the nights get chilly and it would have been nice to be able to use the hot tub in the Royal level pool.

It's a beautiful resort, clean and well kept. The beach was beautiful and we could walk for miles on the fine sands, good for beach lovers. -It wasn't the most of welcoming of check -in that we have been experienced. The front staff offered slow services and some appeared not knowing how to provide good customer service. -The room was nicely setup but it was too small for three adults. we had an exactly similar room as our son's with similar size and arrangement but he paid for two guests and we paid for three. Although we had paid triple and had requested a room with 2 double beds and one sofa bed, we were offered a room with only 2 beds, without sofa bed. We were given only 2 sets of towels, 2 glasses, 2 cups...and had to repeatedly asked the housekeepers for extra daily. When we asked the front desk that we had reserved a room with sofa bed, we were told that it's a busy time and they have none available but they do have one in the Royal level with an extra charge of 3500 pesos per day, or 2750pesos after the discount ( we had a discount coupon ). We told them that we don't need Royal service but just need a bigger room with enough beds for three persons, they then asked us to pay 2500pesos extra per day. We felt not being fairly served and decided to stay in the same room. -the wifi was another disappointment. They charge US$12/ day/ device. Unlike other resorts, there was no wifi available in the lobby at this resort. - the food was just ok. There were limited selection of food at the buffet in the first few days when we arrived, but we had better selection from The XMas day, though nothing special. The restaurants food were much better. We like the services at the Hacienda and Tokyo. - the entertainment were ok. We like the Michael Jackson show, but too bad the announcements were all in Spanish, possibly the resort wanted to entertain the majority of the Spanish speaking guests. -some of the staff were very friendly and some bartenders provided good services. We can't forget the good services and good conversations we had with Ricardo Marcos, Miguel, Jesus,... at the Hacienda and with the staff at Tokyo restaurants.

A small hotel with a big ego. Having been coming here for more than 20 years, I have seen multiple changes for what started out as a smaller, neighborly family resort. It is now a 3 level (as in class distinction) hotel, with a good feel, but not like it once was. It's my pet beef that is appearing more often as time and the financial scene changes. I suppose everyone likes the almighty dollar and this place is no exception. For another USD 44/day each, one can upgrade to the 7th floor and experience a supposedly better stay than the ordinary Joe boy on the bottom 6. That is unless you wish to be a First club member and opt for a membership (Used to be time share, but now that's a taboo word) which will get you a bigger room with sea view and balcony and access to the previously available to all "Adult Pool." All that aside, the "traveller class" (That's you and me, booking through our friendly travel agent such as Trip Central) can experience comfortable rooms and a nice pool with amenities available to all. A better beach than most on this stretch of NV, and food to die for. Go see Carlos in the Lobby bar, he remembers me well, he started here 20 years ago and has learned how to make a proper Marguerita. The Beach bar is gone now and replaced by a sterile Pool Bar, "Las Olas" which means the waves bar. I guess you can now wave goodbye to the camaraderie that used to exist in the old bar that is still pictured in the literature, and that lures many to at least investigate the new Occidental. Never mind, the bar staff know their business, Moises and Sebastian and Felix are pleasant enough, but there's no atmosphere for conversation like there used to be. There's a new partially covered terrace attached to the pool. The loungers there face the beach and you can watch the ocean through the newly planted Palm tree forest. Don't expect chairs, there's only 3 that I could count and they are a disputed item. So if you have difficulty getting up and down off the loungers, then better bring your own wheelchair or canvas camping chair. (Hmm now that's a thought that didn't occur to me then.) The Adult pool is no longer an item. They have barred access to the plebs and seeing as privileged children are using it, I see no advantage anyway. (The washrooms are too far for children) I loved the food at all the restaurants. I may be a pleb, but I knows my grub. The Buffet isn't just a trough where you can load your plate to the brim multiple times. You can choose a very well prepared meal, if you know how to plate it. I'm sure everyone has watched those shows. However, the wine is a little wanting. Go A la Carte if you wish. My favorite was the brand new Tokyo Restaurant, which, if you are privileged, and know your 3 R's, is a Japanese food restaurant. A good menu, well prepared food and well worth 2 visits. Or the Italian restaurant with it's brand of Steak and Pasta, Calamari (one legged Octopus) Shrimp. O, the Tiramisu, yes the TIRAMISU. We didn't try the Mexican restaurant, but were regulars at the lunch time snack bar/restaurant which served up a different soup every day. If you wished you could go gourmet fries there too. I couldn't say much about the entertainment, as I made my own, but Sunday is Karaoki night and lots of fun. The room we stayed in was adequate, the iron mattress was fine but sleep was sparse. There is a fridge for beer and soft drinks and room for your insulin. I had them replace the soft drinks with more water. The safe is easy to operate and I suppose difficult to break into. The bathroom /shower didn't come with a fan, so bring some matches. O, yes, If we craned our necks, we could see the ocean behind the Hard rock Hotel next door, otherwise the fine view of the Mexican Restaurant kitchen back door was enticing. Would I go back again? The whole population of Nuevo Vallarta would miss me if I didn't. I HAVE to go back.

Everything was great, great people, great tourists, just the DJ at the pool needs to play better music, not a deal breaker at all 10/10.................................................................

Beautiful grounds, very clean eating facilities, clean throughout lobby and washrooms. Room service good. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Excellent food. Specialty restaurants excellent. Outdoor chairs somewhat limited. Too many chairs assigned to members which were mostly unused. Not happy with charges for WiFi.

Our first Mexican vacation exceeded our expectations on so many levels! Le Buffet was a real hit with the personable staff including Erik, Jesus and Jose to name but a few who spoiled us tremendously! The beach was beautiful, busy but lots of room and we enjoyed the beach volleyball immensely. We always felt safe and pampered, something for everyone and our 17 year old had a blast too. My only recommendation would be that the wifi be included. It's a necessity (unfortunately) in this day and age. The resort was recommended by a friend and I hope to pay it forward. Sunwing made the trip easy and Tina was very accommodating with all my questions and concerns. Thanks so much!

It is a great resort, the people were very friendly and the grounds beautiful. We would go there again and highly recommend it. The only complaint is that for a few days there were too many people there, too many kids screaming and people running and screaming in the halls at night.

It was a beautiful resort, the staff was very kind and the food was amazing. Everything was very clean and lots of fun activities for kids and adults. The A/C in the room wasn't the greatest but worked slightly.

This was our first time staying at this resort. We purchased the Royal club package and upgraded to a studio suite upon arrival. We were treated like royalty. Food, room, entertainment, beach and staff were excellent. A special thanks to Jorge in the beach area. His service was always accompanied with a smile:) If you are looking for a smaller more intimate resort I would suggest the Occidental Grand Nuevo!

Everything was perfect-staff, food,drinks, service and the beach. We especially liked the size of the resort with everything so close together. We never encountered a line up nor had to wait on service.

Great resort, fabulous staff, food and beach. The resort is just a short drive from the airport. It's not a huge resort, which was refreshing. I went with a couple of friends and we all stayed in one room. In other resorts I've been to the rooms were definitely large enough to accommodate 3 people, where this was a bit small, but by no means too small and let's face it, we didn't spend much time in our room anyway. Just a note that very few of the rooms have balconies. We had so much fun in the lobby bar (Jessica was amazing!), we didn't make it to any of the evening shows, so can't comment on the entertainment. I would go back to this resort in a heartbeat and recommend it to everyone!

We enjoyed the fact that this is not a huge resort but one that is smaller and the staff recognizes you and call you by name. All staff went out of their way to assist you. A friendly hello by name a handshake and even carrying your dinner plate to the table for you. The food was delicious and varied each day and a theme night at supper. We celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Italian restaurant and were treated to an amazing meal with a bottle of champagne and fancy desert. The grounds were beautiful and always being maintained. A heated swimming pool was also a nice touch. We chose an ocean view room that was well worth the money. The sun set right outside our window with extraordinary views. The room was big and comfortable and the air conditioning was always cool. Water pressure in the shower was strong and water always hot. There was always outdoor music but not so loud that you could not enjoy yourself if you just wanted to sit and relax. The maids kept things in spotless condition and there was a turn down service at night with chocolates and towels being replaced as well. Drinks were of very good quality. The beach was amazing, soft sand, no debris and very wide. Will return for sure

This resort was beyond our expectations. We were there to celebrate our 30th anniversary and it was everything we hoped for plus more. The staff was very attentive and the food was excellent! To summarize in one word AWESOME!!

Great food, great staff, great beach. The Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is a smaller hotel compared to others in the area which is nice. Beautiful beach. Just a short walk down the beach, you can witness nightly baby sea turtle releases! Amazing to see! A great location only a short bus ride away from Puerto Vallarta. Highly recommend.

The resort in small enough that everything is close by, but still large enough where we were not all on top of each other. The beach is wonderful! The food was varied, abundant and delicious and the evening show mostly entertaining. Rooms on the side of the theatre are noisy at night. We had upgraded to ocean view and it was worth the extra money as our room was quiet. The only inconvenience was the lack of Internet in our room. We had to go to the main area by the bar and reception and even there it did not always work. I think the hotel was working on this problem. All in all, I would go back there anytime

The grounds, public areas are very clean. The room, where we're staying in the main building, has a very bad smell, maybe from the toilet. The cleaning lady cleaned the room well. The buffet is good. The food tends to be a bit salty. The dessert is excellent. The services at the buffet and resturant are very good. There evening entertainment almost non existant. The location of Occidential is good, nice beach, close to shopping mall. The bicycle path is nice. Neuvo Vallarta is safe, clean and pretty. Although the ocean is not very clear, the wave is not too strong, the sand is fine and nice long walk.

It was a perfect stay in every way. The hotel is modern and well-maintained, the staff is extremely helpful, all the amenities are conveniently located, the food is excellent, and the ocean was so warm!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Occidental Grand. Very clean, very friendly staff, good food and drinks! We would recommend this resort to everyone. We will definitely being going back in the future!

Generally good, right size (relatively small) with beautiful well kept grounds. Beach is long, great for walking, not so good for swimming, water was murky for the entire week we were there. Nightly entertainment varies in quality with not much available after 10:00pm. Room was good but lacks a balcony, mini bar is restocked daily with water, soft drinks and beer. Food was good in buffet and very good in a'la carte restaurants. All staff members encountered were friendly and helpful even the vacation club promoters who were always around. Lots of loungers available at both pool and beach but the best locations are gone early. Yes, the early risers do reserve their spots by 0800 but you can always find space later in the day. There is a reserved area on the beach for club members and they do get butler service, the rest fetch their own drinks from the nearby bar. Overall this is a lovely place for a quiet, restful getaway for families with young children and the more mature crowd not recommended for the party crowd.

The hotel, inside and outside is very clean. You can see that the staff work very hard to look after maintainance and housekeeping. The rooms are pretty standard, nothing special but very comfortable. Could use more drawer space in the room though. Wi-fi Really sucks if you are on the south side of the building. We were in Room 629 and it was non-existant, even when we paid for it which I would not recommend. The company that provides wi-fi to the building are the worst customer service company on the planet. If you have a problem, it's too bad so sad for you. Hotel management are the best. When I couldn't stand the music from the seemingly all night theatre performance, I spoke to Vanet about it and she got me moved to the other side (north) side of the building which was great. Erika who books the a' la cartes was the best as well. Very much an older crowd at this resort. Buffet was OK but the a'la cartes were 5 star food for sure. The Italian resteraunt was the best. Best service, Best ambiance, best everything. All of the staff in both a'la cartes work their tail off to serve you. Please tip generously as they deserve it.

Checking in and out was well organized. The resort was very clean. The housekeeping made up our rooms beautifully every day. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, lots of variety, and very high quality. They had very well run activities during the day. The evening shows were amazing. I would definitely come back.

This hotel was well beyond my expectations, the staff was excellent ,the food at the buffet and a la carte was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff goes out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay.

Grounds and room very nice was really disappointed no balconies. We did the up grade and really enjoyed the resturant on the 7th floor. Good selection was nice quiet dinning. Had a large group and was nice to all sit together
