This resort was what I expected from a 3 star resort. Nothing to fancy but all good. We had a great time. One thing that I would recommend is having my staff that can speak English. Entertainment could have been better.

The massive conical cane-made lobby and dining rooms impress, as does the service. Surrounded and towered over by tall palm trees (and two actually in the centre of one of the pools), Las Palmas is a people- oriented hotel in many ways. This resort is a jewel that outshines the surrounding, towering resorts.

Grounds were excellent, reception was blah,no map, no information at check-in. No fridge or coffee maker in room. That's an issue as bottled water was room temperature and you had to get dressed before a first coffee. Food was repetitive, and catered to majority of guests, who were Mexican. Loved the staff, a saving grace ! For the price, would not return.

We spent 2 weeks at Las Palmas by the Sea at the end of February. The resort is very well situated with an expansive beach frontage in comparison to other options in the hotel zone. I would recommend the oceanview upgrade as the building is so close to the ocean - offering a spectacular view. Resort staff are the best! Guadalupe and Edgar are wonderful in the morning and around the adult and beach area. Pedro and Daniel make the restaurant extra special and David runs a great evening bar. Thomas and Martin help with concierge and ensure you are comfortable traveling around the city. All staff are friendly everywhere on resort. These are the ones we remember the most. Being perfectly honest, the rooms are underwhelming at best. This is not a new resort, the beds are new and everything is very clean. The buffet is small compared to others we have experienced but there is always something good to eat. It’s clear the owners treat their staff well. They enjoy their jobs and engage so well with each other and their guests. We were on resort during the security incident in Puerto Vallarta. The team rallied and secured us and made us feel very safe. They should all be commended for their professionalism and dedication (most worked double shifts and many slept on resort). Las Palmas is a casual, fun, and quaint option if you’d like to stay in PV and venture out to enjoy all the city has to offer. We felt safe continuing around the city within 2 days of the incident. All locals want you to feel safe and welcome.

Old resort, is showing its age. We love the people and service here. Our room had one light, the others did not work. Some bug entered our room and bit me all up at night. Bug was never seen or found. Good is average, but a great selection. This is a authentic Mexican resort. We will return.

Very clean everywhere. Always seemed like they were mopping or sweeping. Rooms were clean. Love the staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Loved the food, quite a variety everyday. The beach was very accessible and clean.

My wife and I stayed here from December 6 to December 13 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The resort was clean and everyone was great. We had a king room with ocean view and it was kept clean and we did not have any issues. It's not a fancy resort but the food and drinks were excellent. We would definitely return.

This is an older hotel but kept in great shape with constant cleaning and maintenance. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are more than adequate. The food at the buffet is quite varied, creative and appealing. Serving hours are generous...dinner served until 10 pm! The staff are fabulous. Friendly and interactive. Note that this hotel is very popular with the local population...great immersive experience! The entertainment is definitely geared to them, but enjoyable all the same. The front desk is extremely accommodating and the chef was great - my husband went fishing twice and both nights, the chef cooked the fish up for us. I didn't have any negative interactions with the staff at all. Most have at least a workable level of english for those who have no spanish...but try anyway! Family pool and adults only pool, towel service, chairs on the beach and around the pool, couple of a la carts, parrots and peacock in the lobby. Did I say clean? Walking distance to local shopping and restaurants. Taxis just up the road and concierge or security will call you a cab.

Older resort but very clean. Food was good but for the price you pay you can go out for supper. 2 pools, one for adults only and it’s heated. Not to much English or French speaking workers.Third time there to relax and that’s what we did.

It's the second time I've stayed at this hotel. I chose it because it's a short bus ride to downtown PV. My room was clean and cheerful with fairly quiet air conditioning. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There are 2 pools, one for the adults and another for kids. Most of the visitors were retired seniors and young families with kids. There was live entertainment at night that was actually pretty good. However, I had a poor dining experience at the hotel. The food is bland and there is no variety. Instead, I ate at the local restaurants

This was my first trip to an all-inclusive resort and it was extremely enjoyable. The staff provide amazing and friendly service and the beachfront, the pools and restaurants are clean and comfortable. The rooms are the only negative. They are old and poorly equipped with no fridges, no reading lamps, and a decor that is terribly out of date.

It's a great resort. Son (26) and I (57) enjoyed it very much . Love the fact Mexicans was at the resort vacationing also . All of them would sing along of many of the Spanish songs. Loved it ! Friendly ,courteous and bartender David (center bar)always made sure you didn't run out of alcohol lol . Rooms were clean , REMEMBER ITS A 3 STAR HOTEL .! Well worth the trip !

The staff were all extremely friendly and happy. They went out of their way to remember names and make sure they greeted you with smiles. The food was good and no line ups. The weather was fantastic. The beach and pool areas were always cleaned as well as the hotel lobby and bathrooms

Hotel looking pretty old - we feel the hotel is really catering to Mexican families rather than other Nationalities - loads of screaming kids. Poor entertainment & mediocre food. It is a great location & the view from balcony is magical.

It is an older resort but kept very clean. You can eat and drink all you want, there is always something good at the buffet. The people are very friendly but not a lot of English. Mostly Spanish. The beach is not nice. No swimming because it was way to rough to go in. Rocky so it’s hard on your feet. Not a resort for people who like to party at night. No shows, and in the rooms there are no fridge or coffee machines. If you like quiet and relaxing it’s fine . No music around the adult pool.

I have been going to this resort for 20 years. I did not go last year because of Pandemic. This trip showed some major changes. For some they are good for others they are bad. They resort has now become a total non-smoking resort except on the beach which is public property. This is good because you could not sit by the two pools because smokers sat beside you and chain smoked then throwing their butts on the concrete. You cannot sit and drink by the sports bar or main bar anymore either. First it is a non-smoking bar and second by removing the chairs to sit down at the bars they are saving money on liquor because this is an unlimited drinks resort. You have to take your drink to where you are sitting. The resort has been completely painted inside and out. New mattress and bedding and pillows. No more live entertainment just a disc jockey to save money. Food is very good lots to eat. Lots of previous employees let go. Waiter service at your table very slow and also seems non caring. Asking for ice water with your meal is a big ask. No more sports on Tv at the bar because they don't want you to sit there anymore and drink. No more coffee at six am before restaurant opens at seven. People leaving early get no coffee or tea. Two weddings at adult pool meant they closed pool early for the patrons so they could set up. Music for the wedding went till 11:00 am so patrons could not sleep. Resort bringing seven busloads of Mexican locals to resort to register for day activities which include free breakfast. So, the patrons staying at the resort had to wait 90 minutes in line to get their breakfast but when they got to the buffet table it was all gone so the resort brought out the lunch menu at 10:30 am. If they raise prices, it would not be worth going there

We had a great week. Everything was up to what I expected. They have done a wonderful job with covid-19 prevention. Masks were enforced especially at the bar. The only wish I have is that they would have frig's and coffee machines in the rooms. Top marks for service, food, grounds, pool and bartenders.

this place is popular with canadians. very thankful that people are respectful of the covid mandates here .. masks are worn when you leave your room, walking around, in bars/restaurants when not seated at your table, and when not eating or drinking. if you can't maintain a distance from people, wear it. hand sanitizer is easy to find. the place is clean, well run, in a good location south of the marina, north of the malecon.

One of the most authentic resorts I ever stayed in. B artender David was the best! People were welcoming and we had tons of fun. The only bad thing was I had 100$ and a debit card missing from my room. So be aware..watch your surroundings all the time. The location of the hotel was great and Cameron express next to the resort was amazingfor seafood!

When boarding the bus I was laughed at buy your representative Hose` that they still only have dark beer as I was there in December and spent alot of money to buy a light beer and again this time spending hundreds of dollars yet again very dissatisfied. I would like to be able to talk to someone about some kind of reimbursement

This is an absolutely amazing place to go! It is a smaller, older hotel with tons of charm. I can't express how wonderful the staff are and how hard each and everyone of them aim to please their guests. I have been going for the last six years and am never disappointed and will go again next year. The hotel is always clean and the maid staff always do a great job cleaning the rooms. The food is good and the a la carte is excellent. The beach is wonderful, lounge chairs and umbrellas are set out each day. There are lots of excursions to experience as well. If you are planning to go to PV, give this hotel a try! GREAT value for the cost! This hotel is definitely a 5 star in terms of effort!

the food was awful. breakfast was always edible in the past, but every time we had it ,we had egg shells in our omlet. theey ran out of beer,except for dark beer ,which for us was undrinkable.we were then forced to buy our own beer every day at a cost of 400 to 500 pesos per day. on top this we had to eat off the resort at additional cost. We were not allowed to have cooler at the pool area. but when the mexican tourists came .they were allowed to have coolers by the pool.The Air Transat rep. was absolutley useless to us. I have been to this resort over 20years . the staff did the best they could to help us out ,but the resort did nothing. After spending 10,000 Can. dollars for myself and family , for this vacation I am completely disappointed air transat.

The staff at resort were awesome Rosie the morning cook was fantastic grounds were very well kept pool areas were well kept room was good my only complaint about the resort was chairs by the pool towels were put on chairs starting at 5 am or tipped over went to the pool at 11 am was about 12 ppl around pool and 4 in pool and not a chair to be had seen towels put out and no one on them till afternoon other than that it’s a great resort was our third time there

Las Palmas will make you feel at home quickly. The staff are incredible and service is amazing, everything is very clean and well cared for. The resort is right on the beach, so of course, the view is delightful. Sunsets will take your breath away!

Las Palmas by the Sea is a wonderful place to go if you are looking for a quaint, older style hotel and an affordable vacation. The facility is very safe. The staff are amazing and always do their absolute best to assist their guests in anyway possible. The concierge and reception staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel although older, is very charming and is very clean. Staff clean continuously throughout the day to ensure that their guests are comfortable in their surroundings. The maids are very good at their jobs as well. They are always courteous, friendly and are completely trustworthy which is very important. The pool areas are well maintained as is the beach which is fairly spacious. There are usually enough lounge chairs and umbrellas to accommodate us sun worshippers. There are various activities offered throughout the day to choose from as well as tours, and a a kid’s club. There is also nightly entertainment provided. Hosea the entertainment director does his best to offer games and activities for all age groups. The food is good with a great selection of items which is sure to satisfy most people. There is also an a la carte dinner offered every.evening which is excellent. Pedro and all the wait staff are terrific. I’m closing, I have gone for four years to Las Palmas and am already planning my trip for next year.

Everything was very nice. Clean resort, food was very good, staff very accommodating. Excellent location. Evening shows/entertainment staff were very good. Beach was adequate. Excellent time there.

We had a great time from start to finish the flight there and back was great. The stay and hotel no complaints. Weather was not the greatest but no control over that . The staff were friendly courtius and professional. Not bad food the ala cart was great I would recommend this hotel and certainly Air Transat to people

Staff was very friendly. Nice beach area and the pool was great that one was adult only. The extra restaurants had very good choices and the buffet was great. The only disadvantage was the wifi did not reach the upper rooms in the corner. Overall the stay was excellent.

Me and my friends stayed here last year and loved the down to earth style of Las Palmas by the Sea that we stayed here again this year. Unlike the overly sanitized atmosphere of other resorts, this one is nice and intimate to a point where all the workers get to know us personally by our first name as well as our individually desired favorite specialty drinks and special snacks. Their bar as well as main eating area and formal dinner restaurant is right at the beach so you can see and hear the waves crashing in at all times...amazingly special. Try it out, you won't be dissappointed.

Hotel was very nice! People were amazing, the hotel staff is very friendly and polite! Would definitely stay again. Jose and Karla are ones to remember! Beach is just a walk away and close to local entertainment

The resort was fantastic good meals good bed the staff were second to none location was excellent only con about the whole trip was the shower being hot and cold but it's livable GREAT JOB las palmas We will be back

The hotel was great, once we were settled in. A few things to note, there is no wifi in the rooms, lobby only which is not advertised. Secondly, the rooms facing east have the WORST mornings because they face the kitchen so from 630am onward, its constant scraping of carts and staff talking. Other than that, not enough good things to say about the staff working and the safety. We always felt safe and welcome. The food was okay, but they had lots of fresh grilled options which were awesome!! I would stay again!

An older hotel which we found to be very clean from the main lobby and sitting areas, including the public restrooms,the pools areas, the dining facilities and our room.The staff were friendly, polite, aimed to please. and were continually mopping/sweeping , generally making everything clean (no musty odours). The bathroom was quite small & with only a shower and we had only two very small drawers for our personal items so we pretty well needed to live out of our luggage.

Great time at Las Palmas. We enjoyed the property and the friendly staff, especially the pool bar tenders. The beach is good and location handy to town. Entertainment nightly and a'la cart restaurants made our stay enjoyable, we will return next year for sure!!

The hotel room was excellent. It was clean, roomy, with balcony and the view of the ocean and grounds was spectacular. We watched many sunsets and started every day with a look at the ocean from our balcony. We loved the waiters who were friendly and very attentive. We sat mostly at the larger family pool. The adult pool was boring and so many people smoked it was hard to breathe at times. The noise at the family pool was sometimes overwhelming. The activity leaders were very much into their jobs and enthusiastic but always aimed at the teenagers. They spoke less English and were sometimes too wordy and not easily understood. But they were very nice. Perhaps there could be a little time of quiet. Families sometimes want to hear their kids and play their own games, and sometimes parents just want to read quietly. The crazy games were the best to watch. We also enjoyed starting every day watching the huge waves and saw dolphins, whales and silvery jumping fish. This was the first time we saw whales - very special! The food was excellent and ate most of our meals at the hotel. We did go to the town for dinner a couple of times as a special treat. The entertainment was good for the kids and rather lame for the adults. I don't know why you don't promote more authentic Mexican music and traditional culture. We love Mariachi's but couldn't find any performers this year. Over all our stay was excellent and we will be back again next year. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful job!

Excellent value Tv service should be upgraded We brought a flash drive loaded with things to watch Staff try hard to help at all times Same problem as always with people reserving lounges at 7:30 and not using them till after lunch. Food is good especialy breakfast and desserts always excellent. Alehandro stands out as a server. Small tip every day for the maids got us extra towels and water when we needed them. Although it was all inclusive we went to town often for dinner the prices are good and food was great.

We would have been ok with the resort as the location was perfect, enjoyed the adult pool and the staff were great as we had read in reviews. The downfall was there were many people within a few days that were violently ill for 12 hours which speaks to me of food poisoning. There was a lady there who took the names and room numbers of all the people who had become ill and not eaten anywhere off site when presented to the hotel they were most apologetic and promised they would be more careful and look into hand sanitizer before entering the dining area. We watched for any sign they had taken it seriously and nothing was done. I approached the Air Transant representative who let me know there was nothing she could do as if she made complaints she would not be allowed on property. Then as we spoke with Americans who were also becoming sick when they reported to the hotel they were informed that the Canadians had brought a virus to the hotel.

We found everything very relaxed, clean and comfortable. The ac worked well, the rooms were kept very clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating to all our needs. It was nice to share our stay there with a majority of Mexican tourist families with young children...got to experience a little more of the Mexican culture that way. (I was particularly impressed with their lovely positive and gentle parenting style...didn't hear the loud scolding/ordering of kids around that we NA parents often do!:) One thing I noticed this time as well as last year...when you arrive you don't get much of an orientation...no one showing you around re: what is available and where i.e. massage, clinic, main floor washrooms etc. Maybe a map of the grounds/facilities would be nice idea. Meals were good, breakfasts the best! The taco chips/with all the toppings by the pool in the afternoon were hot, fresh and delicious! (Guacamole and sour cream are more Tex-Mex than actually Mexican we discovered...none to be had.) Being on the coast the emphasis is fish.We had the option of 2 a la carte restaurants. We tried the Guacamajazz restaurant. The salmon was amazing...the soups very good as well...the "ravioli" was inedible. (Hard, cold and undercooked, no red sauce, just sitting in an oily flavourless clear liquid...not even butter!) We did choose to vary the food by eating a few of our meals at fantastic inexpensive little restaurants/pubs we discovered in the neighbourhood, right close by. Drinks were absolutely wonderful...and kept coming:) The evening entertainment was a little hit-and-miss...most people seemed to really enjoy it. Our ocean view room overlooked the pools, and we noticed it was quite loud. Next time we will try a room overlooking the garden instead and see if it is quieter.

resort is clean , food is very poor, only 2 electrical outlets in room, staff is excellent. pools are good and enjoyable .I have been going to las palmas for many years, the only reason I kept going was because of the staff. We do not eat at the resort.The rooms are kept clean , again because of the staff. They have an ant problem. The showers are hot then cold, hot then cold.

Guadalupe was amazing! Hardest worker at the resort. Not really family recommended for we had late teen or early twenty year olds banging at our door at 3 am. I guess they put us in the party floor. Sorta scared the kids for this was first time travelling without their dad. Kids partied on beach every night till 6am. Just wish I knew it wasn’t as family oriented as we thought. First day we had our room cleaned my 12 year old phone went missing after they cleaned rooms. Was an iPhone 8 so not cheap. Went to go inquire and was told that they seen my son using it in the morning. Which is a lie for we left at 8:00 am for an excursion and I take the kids phones for they are not allowed on them except after dinner. Just funny how one was left (iPhone 6 ) and one was taken. Then when I inquired every few days at front desk they were annoyed that I kept asking and said it’s gone so no use keep coming and asking. They were not as friendly staff as what I woulda liked. Same food day after day with maybe adding fish every few days so that got boring fast.

The resort is perfectly located right on the beach and close to all amenities. The staff are amazing, Guatloupe, Lorenzo, Martin and so many more hard to remember all the names but they are great. Entertainment was good every night. The adult pool was nice to have separate from the kids pool. Only thing we were disappointed about was not being able to have our own music at the pool. The food was hit a miss in the buffet. Service was always good there but the food was lacking in greatness. No Bacon for breakfast. The gazebo for the el a carte was very good do not order the pork very dry. Salmon and chicken was divine. Rooms are clean and bed is decent but pillows are lumpy. Thank you Martha for your great service on keeping our room clean. No bar fridge no coffee makers in rooms if you are expecting this its not there. Nice ocean view from balcony picture perfect and also of the mountains. Was gorgeous views. Beach front is lovely but spent most of our time by the pool. Very good about keeping the kids out of this pool but there should be exceptions for those teens that are 17 almost 18 and with parents. Music at the kids pool sounded like fun, never went into that pool but they seemed to be having fun. Hotel is nothing fancy or big but quaint, clean, nice grounds and very nice pleasant staff. Nice they let us keep our bands on till our pick up and held our bags, check out noon, pick up 3:20. I would come back again 3-3.5 star quality.

To all those reading this ..let me tell you first of all that Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful city . Il begin by Air transat staff Local at the airport were quite identifiable amidst the melee of the very trying time share gangs .My family and i wife son and 1 yo g/son were promptly wizzed off to the hotel Las Plamas. Were we well received by friendly stall well dressed as well . in a modern yet rustic reception area .. waiting time max 5 mins then we went o our room . a typical standard room with a nice view of the mountainside back ground. The place is mindblowingly clean the staff is first class always smiling friendly and eager to assist you.. the palapa restaurant is always accommodating and a great variety of food is always available very few repeats the staff there are compared to 5 star they are always neat clean and well spoken.. the entire grounds was spot less not even a dried leaf to be seen pool is great beach was nice not too busy a few vendors legally identifiable. the housekeeping staff was thorough and prompt as we did have the baby.. i had a an issue with the toilet it was fixed in ten minutes . the drinks were really ggod and the sunsets were amazing the city is safe to venture and a lot of local candies etc.I really love love LAs palmas and their staff .they were amazing the ambiance is traditional which was great , they also had a healthy Bar. the bartender Pablo an the security guard Pedro made my experience very memorable. the servers Federico was amazing actually all of them were.. the night entertainment was the ... the overall experience was great .. met some really nice families as well.. I will definitely visit again... thanks Las Palmas staff... cheers

The resort is a solid 3.5 star. The food was great (not a huge selection, but good enough). The staff are very friendly and the service in the buffet and a la carte restaurants was excellent. All restaurants are outdoors, 1 buffet, 2 a la carte and you can go to the a la carte's all week for dinner if you want to, you just have to book each night's dinner the same day between 11 and 2 pm with Rosa. The building is 40 years old, but very very clean! There are no fridges or coffee makers in the rooms, but that was not a deal breaker. We were in room 401, an Ocean View room. It was a corner room, with 3 sliding doors, the breeze that came through was amazing. The beach is not white sand, more brown, lots of little pebbles, and a rough undertow so we were only able to go in up to our knees. We spent the rest of the time at the adult pool. The butler service at the adult pool runs from about noon to 5pm and he was terrific (Guadalupe)! Staff are quick to kick out children (under 18) who wander into the adult pool area. We walked to the Walmart which was about 40 minutes away and took a bus back for $7.5 pesos each which is about $0.35 US. The area is really safe, I actually walked to the bank myself and felt safe. I would definitely go back!

Everything is great , hotel staff and rooms are very comfortable , the location is excellent , resort is extremely clean . Very easy to get around resort with some mobility issues . A very positive experience .

Spent two weeks and loved the staff service. Dining room staff were amazing as well as bar and beach beveridge individuals...namely, Gabriella, Alejandro, Guadaleupe, Edger, David at the lobby bar....they work so hard. Make sure you tip occasionally. We will be back for that reason alone. Front desk and everyone were outstanding overall. Wine was horrible..they need to change this. Ocean rough but thats normal in the area. Loved the quiet pool option as the kids pool was very busy.

I loved this resort through and through. Beds were a little hard and the food is your typical resort food. Other than that for the price it was well worth it! If you are looking for a good resort for a family this one is perfect.

Las Palmas by the Sea in Puerto Vallarta would be classified as a 2 or 3 star. It is very old with no apparent updates and the hallways echo a lot of noise. However, it is remarkably clean, very authentic Mexican style and the staff are amazing. The pools and hot tub are great and well kept. It is not the cleanest ocean area I have seen but you could still sit in the loungers on the beach and swim when the waves aren't too strong. Great place for meeting people and going on excursions as it is a 15 minute bus ride or a quick and inexpensive taxi ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta and 1 to 2 hours from any other town you might like to explore. Also close to airport, marinas, malls, casinos, etc. There was plenty of food but I had mixed feelings about it. No nachos, guacamole or salsa and a lot of authentic family foods that I didn't really like. However, there is a hot dog, hamburger and fries stand open all day. I would go back again but I would see if I could afford a 4 or 5 star resort first.

We enjoyed our trip. Their was 6 of us and had a great time. A la Cartes (2) were utilized 5 nights out of 7, awesome food and staff. Nothing fancy but clean. Internet was down one full day which was a requirement for me.

rooms were not great, but clean, staff was excellent , food was poor service very good, pools were good, bar tenders were great, more wi fi area needed, rooms pool area etc. more English tv channels would be nice. had a good time,will probably be back again. close to downtown is a nice feature.

Our stay was fantastic, the hotel is older but clean and very well kept. ALL STAFF are friendly and good at remembering everyone's name. Francesco who works in the spa went above and beyond for our family. Between the six of us we used the spa 17 times. We will never stay anywhere else.

Just got back yesterday and I can't say enough good things about our 10 days at Las Palmas by the Sea. We always found something good in the buffet and a place to rest our weary bones. We were looking for 10 days of R&R and Las Palmas did NOT let us down. Many thanks to ALL of the staff for making our stay enjoyable. Too many names to mention but a special thank you to Fransisco who was manning the poolside massage area and went way out of his way for us one day. Fransisco I hope I am not misspelling your name. David, Guadilupe, Oscar, Edgar, Elizabeth, Yolanda... as I say too many to mention individually. Perhaps next time I should take notes because each and every one of them deserves recognition for how hard they work and how well they do! We only get a winter vacation every two or three years so I can't say we are seasoned travelers BUT we HAVE been to three countries and four resorts and, given the opportunity we would not hesitate to go back to Las Palmas by the Sea.

This is our second time here and we love it. The food is better than I've had at other resorts that are five star. The activity coordinators are so funny and sweet. I can't wait to see Pablo and Jose again next year. Nightly entertainment was great too... Especially the Michael Jackson site and circus. The pools were clean and heated and serving staff very efficient. The bar staff are all so friendly and provide excellent service. Rooms were well cleaned.

This hotel was excellent. It was clean, lively and beautiful. The food was good and choices were amazing. The pools and grounds were clean, well kept and neat. Our room and bed was very comfortable. The maids, bartenders, porters and other hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. I found the adult pool relaxing and very warm. My husband preferred the kids pool and we spend our time between the two. There was always a place to sit in the shade. I found the kids pool music and constant screaming by the game coordinator too loud and the music not to many peoples taste. Indeed the only time people seemed to come alive was the one hour of old rock and roll. Why do young people in their 20's assume that all people want to hear their music? The prizes at Bingo were lame and we stopped playing after the first day. This is a very small criticism because overall we had an excellent time. We did not indulge in much of your entertainment as we preferred to go into town, to eat out and listen to Mariachi music. When we returned, there were many drunk people who were still being given drinks and were rather obnoxious. Perhaps the bartender could have refused to serve the drunks. (That's what they do in Canada). We appreciated the attention and help from Alehandro and Martin and the maids. Martin directed us to see a Mariachi band that was outstanding and comprised of his family members. It is worthwhile for Las Palmas to look into hiring them on a full-time basis. We will be returning again next year, though we would like a room with a window that opens, perhaps a balcony. Thanks.

Good food, excellent hospitality. The best Bar Tender is "The Famous David". Miguel from Activities is great at recommending the best tours. Antonio at the door will help you with everything you need carrying your suitcase and getting you a cab. Beautiful beaches! I recommend the destination.

This Hotel has an adult only pool they were quick at enforcing the rule and quickly asked children to leave. There is good live entertainment every night, comfortable beds, at least mine was and great staff. The food was not the best I've had at a resort but it certainly wasn't the worst. The Hotel attracts a lot of partiers who stay up until the wee hours and cause a lot of noise which is magnified by the hall way/structure of the building. I was told the 4th floor was quiet and did not experience and door slamming, door knocking, children screaming, parents yelling at their children well into the night. A Gentleman's Club is next to this Hotel, it is open all night and the loud booming base tone/noises until the wee hours of the morning were enough to drive a person out of any peace you could hope to find (once the children stopped screaming) I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

We have gone to PV for years and usually stay at the same hotel in the romantic zone as we like to be in town and love that hotel. This year we could not get 2 weeks there so we stayed at Las Palmas and we loved it .We had a room on the second floor on the adult pool side which is a little quieter and had a nice enough ocean view for us . Great staff , a good beach , nice pool , always something to eat and drink and only about $10 Canadian to town but there are also shops and places to poke around in just down the street from the hotel . All in all Las Palmas has won a little piece of my heart . Thanks for a great trip !!

Everything about this resort was exactly as expected with the exception of arrival, booking in and the room we had the first night. Checking in became a huge problem, despite having three requisitions for the transat flight and the room the desk said they were not correct??? Don't know why or what was wrong, My name was right there in their computer for the appropriate days, they said we would have to wait till they completed the crowd check in and then they would verify my reservation, I sort of lost it, I had payed for this trip more than two months ago. We finally got our room, dark dingy in the corner, security lock did not work, door did not fit properly, toilette seat was broken, bathroom was not clean and there were no towels and it turned out there also was no hot water. After more aggravation, we were move the next day but we did not receive keys to the room till mid afternoon so we had no place to go and they moved our luggage so it was also unavailable to us. Fortunately things improved for the time remaining. .Interestingly not once did I hear any apology or even concern for the problems they had caused!!!!!

Worst all inclusive ever, food was awful, locals weren't even eating it, the crows were though..they sat on top of the salad and ate away...rinsed glasses in tap water and restacked them, didn't even wash them. We were scared to even have a cup of coffee. Trip central and air transat should both be so embarrassed to be a part of this place...however, air transat rep was awesome...we were moved to The Marival, a five star not a one star..and it was fabulous. Don't go to las palmas, ever....

Location is excellent !! Located in the heart of Las Glorias area with easy access to all desired out of resort options including downtown and Malecon one way and Walmart and the Marina the other way. Great beach area with 'wall' along front of resort to sit and watch the ocean and sunsets. The staff was excellent and helpful when needed. The lounge chairs and pools were wonderful with many options for shade or sun, active or quiet areas with bar service to all. The water pressure in shower was awesome although it changed temperature so shower was hot to cool to hot ... but still good. Recommend requesting the 'topper' for the bed as they are very hard. All in all .. had a great holiday and enjoyed this resort very much!!

Without the students a 3.5 star resort. Beach not too good, shallow with rocks, only went in once. Service was excellent, very courteous. Because of the students we had internet problems. Students crowded the bars and were banging on doors until early in the morning. Next time we'll stay at the Barcelona resort.

We had seen the outside of this hotel many years before and I wasn't sure how good it would be. Although it is somewhat dated , it was clean and they have tried to keep it up. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was okay and we could always find something that we liked to eat. The security staff were very good at keeping children out of the adult pool only once or twice did a family miss the sign and enter the pool and shortly after the security would come and tell them to go to the activity/children's pool. Nightly entertainment was very good for a smaller hotel For a three star hotel we found it to be quite good.

New management has seen upgrades to food......cleanliness is paramount...still a lovely family location....staff as usual accommodating.....Upgrades to the rooms would be benificial...wonderful to still see some of the personnel from last year.....

Had a blast. Staff were awesome. Jose entertained us the whole time. He took the family night clubbing and lots of pool activity. The bartenders were great. The staff were so helpful. Close to many great places

Had a great time at Las Palmas. The staff were Excellent!!!! The entertainment was good and Jose entertained us constantly. The place was clean and we rented a boat for the day from the guys on the beach. they took us snorkling, fishing, whale watching and to a beach for lunch.The food is what we expected so all and all great time.

Las Palmas by the sea was the perfect getaway vacation- escaping the cold winter here in Canada! Couldnt ask for a better location in terms of it being directly between the boardwalk (if your looking for the market and shops) and the marina (where you do water adventures). The beach in front of the hotel was well kept and the nicest from what I saw along that shore line...I had a room that faced the pool and sea, the view was spectacular! What made the trip here most amazing was the fabulous staff! I participated in daily activities- aquatics, zumba and beach games... I was even encouraged to hit up a night club, and had the most fantastic time! I have Pablo and Jose to thank for making my stay there so fun and helping me make the most of my time there. They were just so wonderful and I'll definitely be back to visit soon! ... There was also a bellboy who was so helpful and I can't write a review without mentioning Antonio- he was so kind! All around good vibes- the only reason I didn't give it 5 is because there were some areas under repair, but I honestly have no complaints! Food was good-maybe too good... Staff amazing... I look forward to my next visit!

We have been to other resorts in PV and this one was by far the best. Trip central made everything smooth, From the time we landed to our transfer to the hotel to the check in it was so smooth. Flights there were uneventful and very friendly. The resort was amazing. All the staff were so friendly and fun. No complaints with the food and drinks. The resort staff took the time to ensure we all enjoyed our stay! Def a thumbs up for us and we will return!

A very good resort for the price!!, good beach, good food, fantastic service people, entertainment ok, rooms and views are good, pools are a bit too shallow, close to everything, will come to this resort again!!

Our first room had a broken cracked sink, very old worn out furniture and decor, second room was updated but still cracked sink and sewage smell from shower drain, no hot water and once no water. Very clean rooms house keeping was friendly did the best job she could with what She had. Towels thread bare. This is not a hotel to relax and hear the ocean!! Rooms have adjoining doors You can hear the People next door having sex, talking on the phone, babies crying, Music starts at 9 a.m does not stop until 9 p.m Food is medi ocre We ate dinner out every night. Staff was incredibly friendly great service. The bars over pour drinks no cut off period lots of obnoxious drunks yelling, screaming, falling off of bar stools cracking open Their heads bleeding. People getting so drunk on Tequila etc. The bar tenders and staff have to put them in wheel chairs push them to their rooms. Constant noise no sleep . Cheap holiday and if You like noise and drunks and dilapitated rooms this is the resort for You.Front desk manager never smiles and is a rude arrogant mean little Man. Whenever You ask for anything You are putting Him out. Staff is paid $1 a hour so please tip.

Older hotel but nice. Check in was quick and easy. One pool was under repair so they had to move the activities to the beach. The beach area is smaller so it was hard to find a quiet spot to relax at some times of the day. Lots of Mexican families on the weekend but it never seemed too crowded. The one a la carte restaurant was never full when we went but the food was great. Spanish coffee was excellent. Close to downtown and lots of beach to walk. Bit short on hot water for the shower a couple days but it seemed to get fixed. Staff were good and appreciated tips. Good value for the price

The resort is well maintained, however, the quality and choice of food has deteriorated since the last time I was there last year. it feels as though the food is recycled from lunch to dinner. as well it is absolutely and totally flavorless. After the second day, I was ready to call it quits with lunch and dinner. breakfast was acceptable. well I call this one my detox holiday... even the a la carte is average.. sad.The beds were extremely hard as well.. came back with a backache:( as well all the nice staff have been fired and the staff leftover are okay..there were a few nice staff: Yolanda, Susanna, Alejandro, Sara, Valente, and of course Oscar the bartender. Thanks to those staff for taking the time to smile and speak to us 'northern Mexicans'.:)

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Las Palmas resort. Immediately upon our arrival we were welcomed by the staff and escorted to our room. The room was very comfy, with a balcony and view of the ocean. The only complaint about the rooms, would be the firmness of the beds; also the pillows were rather lumpy. However the cleaning staff were excellent, with washing the tile floors every morning, sweeping the balcony, and changing the bedding. We found the food to be excellent, with lots of variety for both meat lovers and vegetarians. There were always plenty of desert choices, along with great table service for bringing drinks and clearing off used plates. However, we were not impressed with the 'A La Cart' restaurant. Not only were reservations not required, but the service and food was secondary and NOT as good as that offered in the common eating area. There were two pools.....one being for adults, and the other for families, and both were very well maintained. The staff were always cheerful and polite, but many did not understand English, although that did not seem to be an impediment.

The hotel has seen constant small improvements from the quality of food selection and presentation, to the constant maintenance of the grounds. The staff from all aspects of the resort make it easy to want to stay with them again.

The beach area was unattainable because there were not enough beach loungers which were always taken. The red flag was always flying in any case. The area around the adult pool was very pretty. The pool was large enough. There was absolutely no music at all except at the overcrowded kiddie pool and was very loud. Appropriate music at the adult pool would have been very welcome. The food was edible except for anything that contained protein such as chicken, fish or meat. No bacon at all - a disappointment. Lots of fruit in the morning which was very enjoyable as well as omelettes prepared to order. The flank steaks aka beef tornadoes at the a la cartes were too tough to eat and the soup lukewarm but everything else okay. Our room was quite clean, the bed not soft by any means but we were able to manage sleeping in them. The common areas such as walkways, stairwells and main lobby area could certainly do with a thorough scrub up. They need cleaning and refinishing to a large degree. The staff were friendly and worked hard. Alcohol used in the drinks as well as the mix were very low grade and I found them almost undrinkable so therefore drank very little. The time share fellow no longer spoke to us after we refused to attend his presentation at the new hotel. I was very surprised that throughout the 2 week stay, the clientele consisted of around 99% Mexicans with lots of children. They were polite, gracious and reserved. We saw only 3 Caucasians.

The grounds were well kept,the adult pool staff did a really good job of keeping kids out! The room was clean,but sparse ,no dressers,had a problem with the remote and they were right there to see how they could help.They couldn't fix the remote,but within 10 minutes I had a new t v and a working remote!!The bartenders did an amazing job of serving people in order,wouldn't let people but in front of me .I had a great time.I was a solo traveller ,the solo inclusions were not what were advertised there wasn't a cocktail party,no room service wi fi in the room didn't always work,there was no solo dining table.But,didn't bother me to much,I made friends the first day,and had a blast.

We were there for 2 weeks just home great time staff amazing. grounds. pool. All staff amazing we will definitely go backmy many thanks to all staff for making our stay so great desk staff so helpful..bartenders maids all great my husband & I will be back for sure hats off to all bartenders!!

The grounds were kept very clean, rooms were adequate could use some tender loving care,always clean linens and scrubbed. The service was great, the waiters at the buffet restaurant were on the run most of the time. We loved the outdoors mainly the buffet and pool. Security made sure the children stayed at the kiddies pool, and the adults only in the adult pool. It was a bit noisy when the spring break crowd hit, the last 2 days of our vacation, but I guess that's understandable.(We all were kids at one time too). Their was on going maintenance on the palapas & all around the resort. Would stay their again, had a wonderful friendly staff and most accommodating.!!!

Although dated it is the real authentic Mexican resort…..met many great people who will remain friends……great beach and I wish to thank trip central.ca for always getting me where I want to go and when and at a great price….thanks Amanda!

Excellent location. Good Facilities. Great staff. Clean & comfortable rooms if somewhat dated(room 421 is a winner). Food quality appeared to be good but food variety needs some help. Ask for a room overlooking the adult swimming pool.

After reading some reviews we were prepared to have to compromise with a lot of things. That was unnecessary, the staff are top notch at this resort and while some things are a bit tired looking the character shines through. We were very happy with the value we paid for. I wasn't booking the Ritz so I didn't expect the Ritz. If you do, this is not your place to stay. Lots of options to keep everyone happy here. The location is great and the people were nice. Beds are certainly on the firm side but we managed. Rooms were clean, drinks were full and the food was plentiful.....add smiling people to provide you with all of that and you're set in my books.

This is an okay resort. Rooms need some updating, staff are great. Good location. Food was not so great. Same stuff a lot of time. We had a good time, but we make the best of everything, and its Mexico so you can eat out! No music at the bar. Air Transat holidays, now that is something I would stay away from. 3 years in a row, late leaving and late coming home. Run out of snacks, so worried about selling you things you wait forever just to get a glass of water. Air Transat - Suck.

The resort was rated appropriately. Staff were very friendly and professional and the facilities were quaint and clean; the resort was what we expected. Budget allowed us the flexibility to explore Puerto Vallarta by bus, taxi or walking and allowed us the flexibility to explore more foodie aspects of the city and go to some interesting off site restaurants.

Staff were awesome,helpful,kind and fun.I will stay there next time I go.Close to shopp[ng and places of interest.I will encourage all my friends to go with me next time.I will enjoy many more adventures next time.

This older Mexican style resort is okay. The basic rooms are spacious and clean. The food is so so with fairly limited choices. Drinks are what you expect from a 3 star resort. I did like the smaller size of this hotel and do rate the service and friendliness of most staff as good. If you are looking for an upscale, great food etc. experience , spend more money. All in all at a great price this place will do, its not bad value. I stress at a great price !.

University student made a lot of noise in hall and rooms all night long and it was impossible to sleep. The pool was full of them yelling and drinking so no room to swim. Also they took over the outdoor bar and trying to get a drink or a seat took forever.

This is a small resort with only one restaurant (buffet) and a snack bar. Two pools; adult and childrens that is separated by the huge buffet facility. Rooms are nice and clean. Shower/toilet all works 100%. Blow dryer in the bathroom is provided. The staff truly leave you alone where you can really get R&R. The food was average to above; a very good selection all of the time. Entertainment was good. Being a small resort, the grounds are small with an average beach. All in all; if you can get this all inclusive resort for under $800/person, incl. airfare, taxes and resort .... then you've got a deal.

The resort was kept really clean and the maid service was excellent. The food was excellent, and the waiters and bar tenders did a great job. This resort caters to a lot of Mexicans, (it is nice to see that they can afford vacations like us) so you will get to practice your Spanish a lot if you want.

Great hotel and staff really friendly and courteous. The fully inclusive provided a lot of choice for three meals a day and the drinks were great. Ideal location 10 minutes by bus to downtown Puerto vallarta.

The rooms were big. The staff are very helpful. This location of this resort is perfect. Taxis to the main town was cheap and there is a pharmacy nearby where you can buy supplies. The food was okay. It was never over crowded and usually could start eating right away unless you came at peak hour. Even then waiting time to be seated was short. They brought me here from the airport and dropped me off as well on my day of departure. Hot showers and cable tv. Air condition can make the room really chilly.The front desk was helpful and answered all my questions. If you are looking for 5 star comfort then you will not be happy. If you go with 3 star expectations then you will not be dissapointed. All on all was worth it!

Just came back from Las Palmas. Service staff are very friendly, except for the specialty restaurant. Nothing is 100%. Light bulbs in the fixtures of our room were of different wattage and light quality and output. The shower overflowed regularly. Food at the buffet was bland and not very interesting. Why not serve Mexican food? Had to ask for a salt and pepper shaker at every meal. The location is OK. At high tide the none-flooded beach area is negligible. The hotel seems to have been built in the 1970s and needs updating badly. The lounges around the two pools seem to be very new and are comfortable.

Compact, well designed and well run. Entertainment better than other 3*. Food good except for Japanese night. Balconies have sea view but no privacy. Rooms clean and everything worked. Plenty of hot water.

We loved Las Palmas by the Sea. Perfect location (not too far to town, not too close), wonderful view of the ocean, perfect size, excellent food, very friendly and personable staff, with bedrooms and public spaces kept sparklingly clean. We loved the adults only pool, and were amazed at the surveillance provided so it was indeed reserved for adults. Any parents (!) trying to sneak in children were immediately notified to move to the other pool. The main negative point for us is the fact that nonsmoking rooms are all located on the street side of the hotel, which means that our ocean view room was almost constantly surrounded by smokers (and originally reeked of smoke). Thanks, Susana, for cleaning it up for us and making it bearable!There should be nonsmoking ocean view rooms (or even better, floors) reserved for nonsmokers! Another consideration is that, because of the layout of the hotel, it tends to be noisy at night. However, this is mitigated by the facts that the entertainment shows end around 10:15-10:30 p.m., and free booze is only provided until 11:00 p.m. All in all, a wonderful stay, and we would certainly go back!

We enjoyed our 2 week stay at Las Palmas. It's ideally located close to the airport, marina and city. The lobby is the first thing you see... small, worn and uninviting. But as you get into the hotel things improve. The grounds are quite nice. There are two pools, one for adults and the other for activities. The beach is average. There is one main buffet restaurant with a good variety of food. My request would be for more seafood... come on guys.... you're right on the ocean... I can get pork and chicken in Toronto. The 'special' restaurant was fine. Both were open air with thatched covering by the beach. The bars were very good... friendly service... but no mojitas. The entertainment was so-so. Service generally was friendly and efficient. Everything was clean. The rooms had a nice pool/ocean view, but were small. The beds are very firm, which is common, but one was lumpy. The only major problem is the noise levels at night... primarily from the bar patrons. Sleeping could be interrupted. I met a number of people who stay at Las Palmas every year. Puerto Vallarta is beautiful... surrounded by mountains, a stunning bay, terrific waterfront, and perfect weather. There are wonderful towns and parks nearby. We would go back, and we enjoyed our vacation.

The hotel was clean the staff very friendly and helpful, the food was very good and the drinks kept flowing. The beach is well kept. We were there for Christmas and New Year and they made both occasions very special and the traditions that we learned about are not only beautiful but amazing to see. Look forward to going again.

You can tell a good place to stay , when the staff shows little turnover. That's just one example at Las Palmas. My room was clean and comfortable with a balconey so looking over the ocean in Mexico when it's a minus 65 windchill back home can't be bad. Staff in all areas very accomodating , but that comes after having been there so often. I LIKE the food too..lots of variety and the SOUPS were to die for. I've stayed at Fancy places too which cost a ton of money but never felt so comfortable. Lots of Canadians and Mexican tourists make it a pleasant spot to be. I do wish there was less smoking but that's Mexico. The Beach is just three steps down and a 45 minute walk on the Sand to the harbour and Wal-Mart. Plenty of Bank Machines to get pesos using your Debit card makes getting cash very easy. The walk downtown is about a half hour or 5 minues by the little blue buses. I'm glad i found this little jewel and , yes i'll probably fly back this coming February and stay longer. See Ya There... Love - Mom Kozak's Favorite Middle Son.

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. Room was facing the ocean. Could hear the waves break all night. Just wonderful experience!! Close to Downtown, Nightly entertainment was great! Restaurant food was great and the Hotel Staff were superb!
